Speaker 1: Do you realize that at age 10, you only have eight more years with your kids until they're an adult?
• 0:08
Speaker 1: By age 10, you've spent over half your children's, your child's life with them and you only have about eight more years until they're going to be making decisions on their own and out of the house.
• 0:21
Speaker 1: Now I get it.
• 0:22
Speaker 1: Some of you have 35-year-old sons and daughters living in the basement.
• 0:24
Speaker 1: We're not talking about them.
• 0:25
Speaker 1: We're going to talk about the ones that are going to get out on their own and out of the house.
• 0:26
Speaker 1: Now I get it.
• 0:26
Speaker 1: Some of you have 35 year old sons and daughters living in the basement.
• 0:27
Speaker 1: We're not talking about them.
• 0:28
Speaker 1: We're going to talk about the ones that are going to get out on their own.
• 0:30
Speaker 1: You know and recently this was really brought to my attention Stace and I wanted to take our family to Vegas to go see the Eagles concert.
• 0:39
Speaker 1: We bought my son justice.
• 0:41
Speaker 1: We bought him tickets for the Eagles for his 20th birthday.
• 0:43
  Speaker 1: Now I've got a 20-year-old son.
• 0:45
  Speaker 1: I've got an 18-year-old son.
• 0:47
  Speaker 1: I've got a 15-year-old daughter.
• 0:48
Speaker 1: My 18-year-old and my 20-year-old are out working.
• 0:51
Speaker 1: They're working full time.
• 0:53
Speaker 1: They're doing their thing.
• 0:53
Speaker 1: J-boy's an EMT on an ambulance.
• 1:00
Speaker 1: My son, kiki Bear he works at Ford does stuff at Ford and they're both busy, they have schedules, we have to consider vacation time, but we were able to align all the stars and get the family out to Vegas for my son Justice's birthday and to take him to the Eagles concert.
• 1:20
Speaker 1: That in itself was a challenge.
• 1:22
Speaker 1: Enjoy the moments you have with your people today, because you're never guaranteed a tomorrow.
• 1:28
Speaker 1: And I was so used to saying that in the law enforcement world when I would hear my kids argue or when I would hear stupid fights between people.
• 1:36
Speaker 1: I'm like guys, you could get a phone call by the end of the day that says your loved one's not coming home.
• 1:41
Speaker 1: Stop your stupidity and just love on each other.
• 1:46
Speaker 1: But now that is affecting me, because now I'm trying to get my kids out and all I want are my kids around and to take them on a vacation, like I used to when they were 10 years old, and we just pull them out of school for a week and go.
• 1:57
Speaker 1: But it's not that easy.
• 1:59
Speaker 1: So we're able to get all those stars aligned.
• 2:01
Speaker 1: My kids have never been to Vegas, so we take them out to Vegas and had an absolute great time.
• 2:07
Speaker 1: We're able to go, get into some pools, we're able to relax, just have time connecting as a family, do all the cool stuff that Vegas does.
• 2:17
Speaker 1: My daughter was eating cinnamon buns every night at midnight 30, you know, from the Cinnabon place there in New York, new York, we're able to get out and walk the street.
• 2:23
Speaker 1: We went to the M&M world Um, you know it was.
• 2:26
  Speaker 1: It was awesome.
• 2:27
Speaker 1: While my wife is out doing her thing, I go get some way overpriced pina colada in this really bright ugly, uh, gold lion, from one of the hotels at MGM grand, I think, and uh, my son, my Keegan, and I had walked around drinking this pina colada together throughout the hotel, you know, and it was just an awesome, awesome experience with a lot of cool connections.
• 2:50
Speaker 1: When it came time for that concert, my son, keegan, you know, made a comment about maybe wanted to go see him and there were no more tickets left for the show.
• 2:59
Speaker 1: So I gave my ticket to Keegan and Keegan and Justice got to go, you know, and that was such a cool experience because it's it's not only about building the relationship between me and my family, or my family and me, or whatever it may be.
• 3:11
Speaker 1: It's important to encourage the relationship between siblings because ultimately we're going to be gone.
• 3:18
Speaker 1: Stacey and I are going to be gone, hopefully long before my kids are, and they're going to have each other.
• 3:23
Speaker 1: So we're starting to build those memories now.
• 3:26
Speaker 1: You know that they can take with them into the future.
• 3:28
Speaker 1: And it was really, really cool to be able to give that ticket up and see my boys spend some time together, which was pretty awesome, you know, and it just reminded me that we don't have a ton of time on this world.
• 3:43
  Speaker 1: Where it's, it's pretty short.
• 3:44
Speaker 1: I don't know what you got going on in your world right now.
• 3:46
Speaker 1: I don't know what you've got going on or who you're selling short on your time, or what you're sacrificing your time for.
• 3:52
Speaker 1: So often we are so driven by productivity and getting ahead and getting the promotion, or you know the material side of life, or making more money or whatever it is working till we're 75, because we quote, unquote love it.
• 4:10
Speaker 1: And if I love it, why would I stop?
• 4:12
Speaker 1: There is more to life than that.
• 4:15
Speaker 1: There is more to life, and it doesn't have to be a trip to Vegas.
• 4:18
Speaker 1: But, man, what are you sacrificing for the ones around you who love you unconditionally?
• 4:24
Speaker 1: And you might not even notice you're doing it.
• 4:26
Speaker 1: I did it for decades and had no idea that I was sacrificing my family for that.
• 4:32
Speaker 1: You know, and I from somebody who's been out there, and I'm telling you, you're not guaranteed tomorrow, guys and girls, you're not guaranteed another tomorrow.
• 4:40
Speaker 1: Whether you get hit with pancreatic cancer, whether you get hit with a Jeep, somebody hits you with a Mack truck, whatever it may be, there are real problems right around the corner and you just you don't know it and you don't know when those are going to surface.
• 4:56
Speaker 1: We're all going to experience confliction in our life.
• 4:58
Speaker 1: We're all going to experience these hard times in our world, but we don't know when that is going to be.
• 5:06
Speaker 1: Live today for today.
• 5:07
Speaker 1: Love the ones around you.
• 5:09
Speaker 1: Don't get pissed off because you got small stuff going on, or your kid is doing this, or they won't eat the vegetables.
• 5:15
Speaker 1: There is more to it than that.
• 5:17
Speaker 1: There is more to it than your child not eating the vegetables on their plate at 10 years old.
• 5:23
Speaker 1: We're going to get through this.
• 5:24
Speaker 1: It's going to be okay.
• 5:25
Speaker 1: Live today for today.
• 5:28
Speaker 1: Love the ones around you.
• 5:29
Speaker 1: Tell the ones you love them.
• 5:31
Speaker 1: If you have a thought that pops into your brain that says, hey, I need to get ahold of so-and-so, get a hold of so-and-so, send them a text immediately.
• 5:40
Speaker 1: Don't put it off.
• 5:41
Speaker 1: And you don't know where they're going to be when they receive that.
• 5:44
  Speaker 1: You don't know.
• 5:46
Speaker 1: Maybe they're sitting there on the edge of suicide, or maybe they're sitting there having the worst day and all of a sudden, somebody cares.
• 5:52
Speaker 1: God has got this crazy way of connecting the dots between the left and the right.
• 5:56
  Speaker 1: Use it.
• 5:59
  Speaker 1: Find that moment.
• 6:01
Speaker 1: Find that moment in time to tell somebody else you love them.
• 6:04
Speaker 1: When you leave the house today, the next person you see, find a reason to be positive and say something positive to them, even if you don't like them.
• 6:10
  Speaker 1: Be positive.
• 6:12
Speaker 1: You'll find that that is going to change you.
• 6:13
Speaker 1: This is a Murders to Music snapshot.
• 6:16
Speaker 1: A few thoughts of mine that I've had over this last month because of some time that I got to spend and just the realization that by 10 years old, you've already spent over half the time with them as a kid.
• 6:28
Speaker 1: You're going to lose them.
• 6:29
Speaker 1: It's right around the corner.
• 6:31
  Speaker 1: Love your family.
• 6:33
Speaker 1: You only get one of them.
• 6:34
Speaker 1: This has been a Murders to Music snapshot.
