- 0:59Speaker 3: The World's of Vigeonal podcast. Welcome to Patriots Unfiltered. And
- 1:09Speaker 3: I'm looking at the schedule. I see more wins on
- 1:12Speaker 3: the horizons.
- 1:13Speaker 4: Six and one are saying.
- 1:15Speaker 3: But I think even that last game against the Bills,
- 1:17Speaker 3: if they're not playing for anything, that could be a win.
- 1:20Speaker 5: At home, that could be playing for the division.
- 1:21Speaker 3: Again, let's just get crazy and say they do start
- 1:26Speaker 3: rattling off wins. Isn't that so much better for the Evans?
- 1:29Speaker 4: Don't you like to see them win?
- 1:31Speaker 3: Then?
- 1:31Speaker 6: The priority for the off season for me is you
- 1:34Speaker 6: gotta find a good edge you can play every single down.
- 1:37Speaker 4: A really good edge rusher who can play well on
- 1:40Speaker 4: all three downs.
- 1:42Speaker 3: Yeah, bo Polini hated us.
- 1:46Speaker 4: The whole paper is just one big critique.
- 1:49Speaker 3: Which which was like, I was like, what did I
- 1:50Speaker 3: get so wrong?
- 1:52Speaker 4: You know, especially in those days, right, I was.
- 1:55Speaker 3: Still on board in those days when Evans said to Paul,
- 1:59Speaker 3: let me finish when he was making a point, I
- 2:02Speaker 3: took that as growth on Evan's part. And do love
- 2:05Speaker 3: it when he asserts himself with Barthy on catch twenty two.
- 2:08Speaker 5: Yeah, sometimes you have to tell Bart to go sit
- 2:09Speaker 5: in the corner, you know.
- 2:11Speaker 1: This is Patriot's Unfiltered, presented by Toyota's official website. For deals,
- 2:16Speaker 1: buy a Toyota dot com.
- 2:20Speaker 3: All right, welcome the Patriots Unfiltered. It is Wednesday here
- 2:24Speaker 3: at ji Let's Stadium. It's Paul, it's me, it's Matt,
- 2:26Speaker 3: and the booth will be joined later by Evan and Deuce.
- 2:29Speaker 3: They've got their locker room duties right now, and then
- 2:32Speaker 3: Evan will be going out in the in the cold.
- 2:35Speaker 4: It's not happy about it, no, not happy about it.
- 2:38Speaker 7: No.
- 2:38Speaker 3: So so let's tell this story. In order to get
- 2:41Speaker 3: from where Evan and Paul work to the media workroom,
- 2:47Speaker 3: you have to two routes. You can either go outside
- 2:49Speaker 3: the building, and then back in, or you can go
- 2:52Speaker 3: up inside the building, down and up and down. So
- 2:55Speaker 3: lately the weather's been really nice around beautiful, so the
- 2:59Speaker 3: guys have been going outside and you know, they were like, oh, Evan,
- 3:04Speaker 3: why what what's the subsession with the weather? Right today
- 3:09Speaker 3: it gets down to the low forties and the guys
- 3:11Speaker 3: go outside. Evan's like, he can't have it because it's
- 3:14Speaker 3: too cold, and so he goes.
- 3:15Speaker 4: He by himself.
- 3:17Speaker 3: So all of a sudden, Evan's obsessed with the web.
- 3:19Speaker 4: So Mike, Tamara and myself all just walked from me
- 3:22Speaker 4: to E three to E twobe, which takes about thirty seconds,
- 3:26Speaker 4: and Evan walked through the inside of the building. Had
- 3:30Speaker 4: to give him crap about that when he gets here,
- 3:32Speaker 4: well then he's got to go out to practice, right.
- 3:34Speaker 3: But it is a little it is it's a little chili.
- 3:36Speaker 3: It's it's chili. It's I mean, it's not freezing yet,
- 3:39Speaker 3: but you know, it's low forties.
- 3:41Speaker 4: And even because like Monday it was another like high sixties,
- 3:45Speaker 4: so it's kind of tipping seventies in day. So it's
- 3:47Speaker 4: been it's dramatic, a big contrast.
- 3:49Speaker 3: Yeah, so uh, bundle up a little bit now.
- 3:53Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, it's time.
- 3:55Speaker 3: It's brisk anyway. So that's that's your daily weather report.
- 3:59Speaker 4: Could be good for you know, for Sunday. I don't
- 4:02Speaker 4: think it's going to be that cold. It sounds like
- 4:03Speaker 4: those sixties. Yeah yeah, but I was thinking if it was,
- 4:07Speaker 4: you know, unseasonably cold, might be good.
- 4:10Speaker 3: Yeah, you know for the Rant and the ROMs. But
- 4:11Speaker 3: it's always good to practice in all weather. We were
- 4:14Speaker 3: told that by a great old coach.
- 4:16Speaker 4: That gravy here ball coach.
- 4:18Speaker 3: Absolutely take advantage of all the conditions as they were offered.
- 4:22Speaker 3: All right, So what are we talking about today? A
- 4:25Speaker 3: sleeve we're turning. This is turned the page day. We've
- 4:28Speaker 3: got the ROMs coming in on Sunday, a game where
- 4:33Speaker 3: I'm pretty sure, Paul, you probably already looked. The Patriots
- 4:36Speaker 3: are underdogs according to the big houses.
- 4:39Speaker 4: Yes, yep, five and a half.
- 4:43Speaker 3: Those that set the line, uh, five and a half
- 4:46Speaker 3: points something like that, right, I think it might be
- 4:48Speaker 3: five now, So I heard that those that set the
- 4:53Speaker 3: lines no longer give three points for the home team. No, listen,
- 4:58Speaker 3: it's it's two points if you're a Dome team, and
- 5:02Speaker 3: it's a point and a half for no I'm sorry,
- 5:05Speaker 3: I have it the wrong way. It's two points if
- 5:07Speaker 3: you're an outdoor team, and a point and a half
- 5:09Speaker 3: for dome teams. Okay, yeah, so I'll have to adjust
- 5:12Speaker 3: that when it comes out.
- 5:13Speaker 4: Okay, yeah, yeah, that minus four and a half right now,
- 5:18Speaker 4: it's down four.
- 5:20Speaker 3: A lot of Patriots money coming in, money money coming in.
- 5:23Speaker 4: Yeah. So you d Mayo spoke today, and you know
- 5:29Speaker 4: there's an obvious emphasis. They want to try, you know,
- 5:32Speaker 4: no big surprise here. They want to try to stab
- 5:34Speaker 4: stack some wins, you know them a one two in
- 5:36Speaker 4: a row this regime. He goes, you know, we've unfortunately,
- 5:39Speaker 4: we've had experience with multiple losses in a row. It's
- 5:43Speaker 4: it's time to you know, have some urgency and you know,
- 5:46Speaker 4: put put a win streak together and and find a
- 5:49Speaker 4: way to get back to back wins for the first time.
- 5:52Speaker 4: So I think that's the message. Hunter Henry came out,
- 5:54Speaker 4: Drake may they they talked about that. One real interesting
- 6:00Speaker 4: noteworthy comment I thought from Mayo was he had a
- 6:04Speaker 4: lot of praise for Alex van Pelt. And I'm not
- 6:08Speaker 4: using the exact words, but paraphrasing, uh no, one deserves
- 6:13Speaker 4: more credit for developing Drake May than Alex van Pelt. Well,
- 6:16Speaker 4: that was basically that was the message of what he said.
- 6:18Speaker 3: It's good for been listening to this show because.
- 6:23Speaker 4: I think we think reserves, but.
- 6:25Speaker 3: Somebody's somebody's been doing a good job with this kid,
- 6:28Speaker 3: and we assume it's Alex van Pelt. So I'm glad
- 6:32Speaker 3: that Gerard is a listener to Patriots Unfiltered.
- 6:34Speaker 4: Right, Well, you know, Gerard as a friend of the program.
- 6:38Speaker 3: Yeah, the program. Ye, So yeah, we were kind of
- 6:41Speaker 3: wondering that a couple of weeks ago, like who who
- 6:44Speaker 3: should get the credit for so far the development of
- 6:47Speaker 3: Drake May because it seems to be going in the
- 6:49Speaker 3: right direction. And he was out so, you know, it's
- 6:53Speaker 3: interesting that he was out there saying that because he
- 6:56Speaker 3: probably hears the noise and you know, everybody talking.
- 7:00Speaker 4: About Greg was on yesterday on My show with Mike
- 7:05Speaker 4: and Tony and you know, and I didn't entirely disagree
- 7:08Speaker 4: with everything he was saying, but I thought he was,
- 7:10Speaker 4: you know, sort of underwhelmed with the Patriots performance, you know.
- 7:16Speaker 3: And he was talking so different than it's been.
- 7:18Speaker 4: You know, And they asked him a very pointed question
- 7:22Speaker 4: about who would you rather have Shane Waldron who just
- 7:26Speaker 4: got fired by the Bears as their offensive coordinator, or
- 7:30Speaker 4: Van Pelt and Greg I couldn't make up his mind,
- 7:34Speaker 4: like he oh that's he. I think at one point
- 7:37Speaker 4: he said the bullet. I'll take the bullet like he
- 7:40Speaker 4: wanted the bullet, like I want neither one of these,
- 7:43Speaker 4: you know. So I thought that was pretty critical of
- 7:49Speaker 4: Van Pelt. I mean, the other guy just lost his job. Yeah,
- 7:52Speaker 4: they haven't scored a touchdown, you know, in two and
- 7:57Speaker 4: a half games, the longest street I think it's like
- 8:01Speaker 4: twenty three drives in a row without a touchdown. It's
- 8:03Speaker 4: the longest active streak in the NFL. And he just
- 8:05Speaker 4: lost his job, right, and you're saying that like there's
- 8:07Speaker 4: no difference between that and Van Pelt, who I thought,
- 8:10Speaker 4: I guess you know, I didn't watch it close enough.
- 8:13Speaker 4: I you know, I like to take a backseat to
- 8:15Speaker 4: the all twenty two guys. I thought he had some
- 8:17Speaker 4: interesting little wrinkles that he that he put out there
- 8:20Speaker 4: on Sunday. They didn't all work. No, they didn't score
- 8:23Speaker 4: a lot of points.
- 8:24Speaker 3: I mean it did.
- 8:25Speaker 4: They didn't move the ball, and they didn't score points
- 8:27Speaker 4: as well as you'd like, but I did think it
- 8:29Speaker 4: was a little bit more creative and a little bit better. Well,
- 8:33Speaker 4: ran the ball better.
- 8:34Speaker 3: I mean Van Pel's job is I don't know the
- 8:36Speaker 3: situation in Chicago in terms of how it's set up,
- 8:39Speaker 3: like as Waldron the quarterback developer as well as the
- 8:44Speaker 3: offensive coordinator. It seems like that's the case here, so
- 8:48Speaker 3: you have to separate the two. And I think as
- 8:52Speaker 3: a former quarterback in the NFL, I think avp would
- 8:56Speaker 3: have a leg up on Waldron in terms of just
- 8:59Speaker 3: developing a quarterback to be ready to play in the
- 9:02Speaker 3: NFL because he's done it. As far as the play
- 9:04Speaker 3: calling that I don't know, but it seems to me
- 9:08Speaker 3: that it's something that Van Pel could improve on the
- 9:11Speaker 3: more he does.
- 9:12Speaker 4: Yeah, you know yea.
- 9:14Speaker 3: Whereas the other part of it, like how to develop
- 9:17Speaker 3: a quarterback for the NFL, I mean, where do you
- 9:20Speaker 3: get the experience to do that unless you've done it before,
- 9:23Speaker 3: And I don't mean just playing having developed a quarterback before.
- 9:27Speaker 4: Yeah, I just you know, I'm not telling you that
- 9:30Speaker 4: I think Alex Van Pelt is like the next shanahanol McVeigh,
- 9:33Speaker 4: you know, or anything. But I think given the limitations
- 9:37Speaker 4: they've have offensively. The offensive line has been influx virtually
- 9:41Speaker 4: all seasons.
- 9:41Speaker 3: That's the thing.
- 9:42Speaker 4: They have no real you know, difference making wide receivers.
- 9:48Speaker 4: Is that fair enough?
- 9:49Speaker 3: Fair enough?
- 9:50Speaker 4: No difference. I mean they have a couple of guys
- 9:52Speaker 4: that have made some plays here and there, but they
- 9:54Speaker 4: are no real difference makers. And he's putting it together
- 9:56Speaker 4: like I listen, they're at the bottom. Yeah, Mike and
- 9:59Speaker 4: Tony went to great links to say, when you finish
- 10:02Speaker 4: in the bottom five, bottom ten, you know in yards
- 10:06Speaker 4: points right, you know, and all these offensive categories. And
- 10:09Speaker 4: that's where the Patriots are. I think they are thirty
- 10:10Speaker 4: first right now.
- 10:12Speaker 3: But I can tell you one thing. If if Drake
- 10:15Speaker 3: May had started from week one, they wouldn't be thirty first, they'd.
- 10:18Speaker 4: Be about twenty ninth. No, I did it yesterday, so.
- 10:22Speaker 3: Yeah, but all those games with Brissette would have been
- 10:24Speaker 3: played with May and the production.
- 10:26Speaker 4: I'm just telling you the five games.
- 10:28Speaker 3: I'm doing the Oh, you're just doing the five game.
- 10:30Speaker 4: Okay, it's worth it's been worth about another three and
- 10:32Speaker 4: a half points, which is significant.
- 10:34Speaker 3: No, No, but what I'm saying in.
- 10:36Speaker 4: About in about another sixty yards.
- 10:38Speaker 3: Yeah, but if you add in if Drake had been
- 10:41Speaker 3: playing from the beginning, I guarantee you though.
- 10:43Speaker 4: He'd be playing better.
- 10:44Speaker 3: He'd have been playing better by now, and I think
- 10:46Speaker 3: overall they wouldn't be the bottom of the league.
- 10:48Speaker 4: Much like you convinced me on the offensive lineman argument
- 10:51Speaker 4: at the end of the show yesterday, I would totally
- 10:53Speaker 4: agree with that because I think if he had played
- 10:54Speaker 4: every game, you'd be getting a better version of Drake
- 10:57Speaker 4: May right now. Yeah, because not just the version.
- 10:59Speaker 3: Of those games were don't make mistakes, so he wasn't
- 11:03Speaker 3: about moving the ball all over the field.
- 11:05Speaker 4: Yeah, here's the thing. The the numbers for Brissett are
- 11:08Speaker 4: a little bit. Here's where I'm going to be a
- 11:10Speaker 4: little defensive for Brissette. I don't think he played great, but.
- 11:14Speaker 3: He played like.
- 11:14Speaker 4: There was one game against the Jets that was an
- 11:18Speaker 4: absolute train wreck that Thursday night game. They scored three points.
- 11:22Speaker 4: They had like one hundred and twenty. Like that really
- 11:25Speaker 4: knocks Perssett's numbers down. Otherwise, it's been pretty similar when
- 11:30Speaker 4: Brissette plays and when May plays a little bit better
- 11:33Speaker 4: for May, he throws her about. I think it's about
- 11:36Speaker 4: eighty more yards per game. So they throw better when
- 11:39Speaker 4: May plays, They ran better when Brissette played, you know,
- 11:43Speaker 4: so it's but they basically yeah, through the ten games
- 11:47Speaker 4: now it's kind of split five and five.
- 11:49Speaker 3: That's true. That first game against it, it's.
- 11:51Speaker 4: Like one hundred and fifty nine passes Forsett one hundred
- 11:54Speaker 4: and fifty four or something like that, or one hundred
- 11:56Speaker 4: and fifty for May. So it's like it's pretty similar.
- 11:59Speaker 4: It May has been better. May has been better like
- 12:02Speaker 4: across the board, and except for turnovers.
- 12:04Speaker 3: Yeah, well that's that's a big thing. That's why you
- 12:07Speaker 3: had Jacoby Brissett in there early.
- 12:10Speaker 4: I think Brissette had two turnovers. May has five seven
- 12:15Speaker 4: counting the fumbles.
- 12:16Speaker 3: But like you said, you know, how do you come
- 12:19Speaker 3: down on an offensive coordinator when you're also admitting that
- 12:23Speaker 3: the offensive line hasn't been good the wives receivers there's
- 12:26Speaker 3: really no one there that you know that stands out
- 12:29Speaker 3: that you know, keeps up any defensive coordinator asleep at night,
- 12:34Speaker 3: I mean from sleeping at night because you just don't
- 12:37Speaker 3: have those playmakers. And so it's it's is it fair
- 12:40Speaker 3: to judge a VP based on the talent? You know,
- 12:43Speaker 3: you can't have both. You can't say that the talent's terrible.
- 12:46Speaker 3: Oh and the offensive coordinator is terrible. Well, how do
- 12:49Speaker 3: you know?
- 12:50Speaker 4: Yeah, I would totally agree. And I just feel like
- 12:53Speaker 4: there were some signs on Sunday, you know, I, I know,
- 12:58Speaker 4: we we all tend to make a lot of like
- 13:00Speaker 4: I was sort of mocking, like how much we made
- 13:03Speaker 4: out of the schooler thing, right, So I'm doing the
- 13:05Speaker 4: same thing now with the like the little goal line play,
- 13:08Speaker 4: you know, like they how they how? I forget who
- 13:12Speaker 4: the who the color analyst was in the game the
- 13:15Speaker 4: other day. Was it Daryl Johnston Johnson? He really did
- 13:18Speaker 4: a great job of sort of explaining how that sequence
- 13:21Speaker 4: was set up right on the goal line where they
- 13:23Speaker 4: had Polk sort of inline on a run play on
- 13:27Speaker 4: the other side and sort of trick the Bears into
- 13:31Speaker 4: thinking same formation, same plays coming to the other side,
- 13:34Speaker 4: only this time it was a pass and you know,
- 13:36Speaker 4: you get the guy uncovered. So I thought that was
- 13:40Speaker 4: there was some wrinkle to that. I thought the play
- 13:42Speaker 4: to Austin Hooper, which kind of kickstarted the offense. It
- 13:46Speaker 4: was really the best play of the first half until
- 13:49Speaker 4: the very last drive, that twenty eight yard passed from
- 13:52Speaker 4: May to Hooper. I think that was a scheme play that.
- 13:56Speaker 3: Now, these are things that may made a great throw
- 13:58Speaker 3: I mean, by the way, but you know, and let's
- 14:00Speaker 3: not go crazy. These are things that every offensive coordinator
- 14:02Speaker 3: should be able to do right.
- 14:03Speaker 4: And that's why I said, I'm guilty of making a
- 14:05Speaker 4: little too much out of these things too. But I
- 14:07Speaker 4: basically I'm pointing it out because I've seen a little
- 14:09Speaker 4: bit of progress. I've seen them sort of, you know.
- 14:13Speaker 4: Daniel Olowski likes to say it's a difference between calling
- 14:15Speaker 4: plays and having an idea of what you're doing. You know,
- 14:18Speaker 4: it's not just calling plays for the sake of calling plays.
- 14:21Speaker 3: Your sequences. There's a method to the madness. There's yeah,
- 14:26Speaker 3: and understanding the flow of the game, understanding what's already
- 14:29Speaker 3: been called, where the matchups are everything, It's there is
- 14:32Speaker 3: an art to it. As Andy used to say.
- 14:35Speaker 4: Commanders Eagles on Thursday night.
- 14:37Speaker 3: Huh, what's that?
- 14:38Speaker 4: Commander's Eagles Thursday night?
- 14:39Speaker 3: A rare division game that you like?
- 14:41Speaker 4: A rare division game on Thursday nights?
- 14:43Speaker 8: You have?
- 14:43Speaker 4: Do you ever see any of those?
- 14:44Speaker 8: Oh?
- 14:45Speaker 4: Is that right? They're all They're all division I know,
- 14:47Speaker 4: I'm only two prob the only one that doesn't really
- 14:49Speaker 4: love division games. Yes, yeah, I think I am you
- 14:52Speaker 4: own on that one. Yeah, yeah, I'm probably.
- 14:55Speaker 3: Wrong because maybe over the years it was always a
- 14:59Speaker 3: FC East that you were looking at it.
- 15:01Speaker 4: Well, I just I like I like matchups like this
- 15:07Speaker 4: one Patriots rams that you see, Like, you know, what
- 15:10Speaker 4: was the last time we play we.
- 15:11Speaker 3: Played the plays the NL and Baseball.
- 15:15Speaker 9: See.
- 15:15Speaker 4: I used to like interleague play, but now every team
- 15:17Speaker 4: plays everybody every year.
- 15:19Speaker 3: Now it's not special, it's a deal anymore.
- 15:21Speaker 4: But I would rather see Yeah, I'd rather see the
- 15:23Speaker 4: Patriots the Red Sox play like the Rodgers in a
- 15:25Speaker 4: three game series, then for the fifth time a three
- 15:28Speaker 4: game series, right, you.
- 15:30Speaker 3: Know, although every time they play the Yankees it's Fox
- 15:34Speaker 3: and ESPN every games.
- 15:36Speaker 4: Yeah, you know, so you like the You like the
- 15:39Speaker 4: division games though as a as a general rule.
- 15:41Speaker 3: If that both teams are playing well like in this case.
- 15:43Speaker 4: Yeah, thisn'd be one that I'd be interested in. You know.
- 15:47Speaker 4: Last week's was obviously a really good game with Cincinnati
- 15:49Speaker 4: and Baltimore. You know, Pittsburgh Baltimore games would be worth
- 15:54Speaker 4: watching coming up. They haven't played yet, and those those
- 15:57Speaker 4: two are at the.
- 15:57Speaker 3: Top I'm not interested in Saints Falcons.
- 16:01Speaker 4: You know, it's a bloodbath.
- 16:03Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean for them, it's a big rivalry, but
- 16:06Speaker 3: I don't really care about it.
- 16:07Speaker 4: Right, Like I just I've seen I see that twice
- 16:11Speaker 4: a year every year. I don't need to see the
- 16:12Speaker 4: Bears and Packers play for the you know, one hundred
- 16:15Speaker 4: and ninety seventh time.
- 16:16Speaker 3: All right, So so getting back to the Patriots, Yeah,
- 16:20Speaker 3: that's that was a big topic today, wi you Rod,
- 16:23Speaker 3: and like you said, also backing up wins, it would
- 16:26Speaker 3: so if they win, you know, this week, it'll be
- 16:29Speaker 3: the first time they've won back to back games this season. Yes,
- 16:32Speaker 3: so it's a big deal.
- 16:33Speaker 4: And I don't think they did last year either that
- 16:36Speaker 4: the Pittsburgh Denver games, they weren't consecutive, were.
- 16:39Speaker 3: They, Paul? Yeah, I mean, come on, I can't remember.
- 16:43Speaker 4: Sorry, I mean, you're the way I remember.
- 16:45Speaker 3: How can I? But I do think this game is winnable,
- 16:52Speaker 3: even being now four and a half point underdogs.
- 16:57Speaker 4: So is there a game that you don't think is winnable?
- 16:59Speaker 4: Because I don't have any games that.
- 17:01Speaker 3: The game in Buffalo really even that game.
- 17:05Speaker 4: Yeah, because the other team could always not play well,
- 17:07Speaker 4: and you could win.
- 17:08Speaker 3: Well, Okay, but I see what you're saying. Anyone can
- 17:11Speaker 3: beat anyone on any given day.
- 17:13Speaker 4: I mean, but did anybody think that the Broncos had
- 17:16Speaker 4: any chance to beat the Chiefs?
- 17:17Speaker 3: I did? Okay, yeah, I did. Division I think I
- 17:20Speaker 3: said that when.
- 17:21Speaker 4: I think all games are winnable in the NFL, I
- 17:23Speaker 4: think there's not really a huge difference. And if one
- 17:25Speaker 4: team doesn't have it, okay, I think the other team
- 17:28Speaker 4: can win.
- 17:28Speaker 3: Let's just say, then, then let's qualify it a better
- 17:35Speaker 3: a better chance than usual to win this, you know,
- 17:38Speaker 3: for a five and a half point underdog.
- 17:41Speaker 4: Okay, So why do you think that?
- 17:43Speaker 3: I just don't think the Rams are playing that well,
- 17:44Speaker 3: that's why.
- 17:45Speaker 4: Well they had been until Monday, Yeah, in a row.
- 17:49Speaker 3: But their offense has been their offense has been been
- 17:51Speaker 3: very good. It's hot and cold.
- 17:53Speaker 4: But since since Cupp and Nkua came back, it's been
- 17:56Speaker 4: very good. Yeah, until again Monday night. Now, who knows,
- 17:59Speaker 4: Maybe that's what they are. Maybe they're back to not
- 18:02Speaker 4: being so good. But before that they had had thirty
- 18:05Speaker 4: at Seattle, not an easy place to play. I think
- 18:09Speaker 4: they had twenty six in another game. But what they've
- 18:13Speaker 4: missed most of the season, those two receivers.
- 18:15Speaker 3: You know that I need to see the context of
- 18:18Speaker 3: those points. Okay, you know.
- 18:21Speaker 4: That's true. They did have a pick six in the
- 18:23Speaker 4: Seattle game, right, they're just off the top of my head,
- 18:25Speaker 4: you're right. So, but I think even in the game
- 18:28Speaker 4: the other night, moved the ball into the red zone.
- 18:33Speaker 4: Couldn't couldn't get touchdowns. Like, if you get touchdowns, it's
- 18:36Speaker 4: a whole different game.
- 18:36Speaker 3: But they didn't get the touchdowns because of their own mistakes,
- 18:39Speaker 3: I think.
- 18:40Speaker 4: So maybe they don't. That's what I'm saying. You can
- 18:42Speaker 4: lose if you don't play well.
- 18:43Speaker 3: Right, So, I don't know. I just get the sense
- 18:46Speaker 3: that this is a winnable game for the Patriots.
- 18:50Speaker 4: Yeah. There wasn't consecutive games last year, so it'd be
- 18:53Speaker 4: the first time in two seasons. Yeah, for a long time.
- 18:57Speaker 3: Yeah, you know, I don't know. I mean, obviously, the bookies,
- 19:05Speaker 3: I think the Rams have the advantage, even going cross country,
- 19:09Speaker 3: I would agree.
- 19:10Speaker 4: The bookies thought Chicago had the advantage. And you know,
- 19:14Speaker 4: I think they were like a five point favorite too,
- 19:16Speaker 4: Is that right?
- 19:17Speaker 3: They were up there that much something like that. Yeah,
- 19:20Speaker 3: So we'll see. That's why they play the games. But
- 19:23Speaker 3: I think you know, everyone's on Stafford. I think Stafford's
- 19:26Speaker 3: been fine. I don't think he's the issue. I don't
- 19:29Speaker 3: think everyone he wasn't the issue. Certainly.
- 19:31Speaker 4: My last game I thought, just based on again, just
- 19:33Speaker 4: based on the highlights that I saw, he didn't look
- 19:35Speaker 4: like he was very sharp. I thought he missed one
- 19:38Speaker 4: of those incompletions in the end zone. I thought he
- 19:40Speaker 4: missed Karen Williams was pretty open at the goal line.
- 19:44Speaker 4: But then you guys who actually watched the game, which
- 19:47Speaker 4: I didn't know, you guys said that it wasn't on,
- 19:50Speaker 4: it wasn't protection. And he's certainly enough.
- 19:53Speaker 3: To win that game.
- 19:54Speaker 4: So I would say that if the Patriots are going
- 19:57Speaker 4: to win this game, you're gonna need some some turnovers
- 19:59Speaker 4: from the Rams, some help from the Rams. If the
- 20:02Speaker 4: Rams played reasonably well, I think that they would win
- 20:05Speaker 4: the game.
- 20:05Speaker 3: Don't you think how are they generating pressure on the quarterback,
- 20:09Speaker 3: because that's that's a big time.
- 20:10Speaker 4: They have a lot of different guys with sacks, but
- 20:14Speaker 4: they don't have like the one big guy. They're all
- 20:16Speaker 4: young guys. They have Braden Fisk and Jared Vers are
- 20:20Speaker 4: like the first and second round verse. I know they're
- 20:23Speaker 4: both doing well. They have I think Byron Young is
- 20:28Speaker 4: a second year guy. These guys all have like four
- 20:30Speaker 4: and five sacks. They have like five guys with like
- 20:33Speaker 4: four three or four five sacks, but they don't have
- 20:36Speaker 4: anybody with like eleven sacks.
- 20:37Speaker 3: Yeah, you know what I mean.
- 20:38Speaker 4: They don't have like Trey Hendrickson on the outside that's dominating.
- 20:42Speaker 4: But I think that's a young defense that really struggled
- 20:46Speaker 4: early in the year and has been better lately.
- 20:48Speaker 3: Yeah, that's it. I mean, that's the thing. Can well,
- 20:53Speaker 3: Drake may have time. I don't want him running around.
- 20:57Speaker 3: I want him to be able to be on schedule
- 21:00Speaker 3: and uh, you know, I just.
- 21:03Speaker 4: Want to make sure I'm not messing up names.
- 21:05Speaker 3: You know, have the time to hit these receivers, because
- 21:07Speaker 3: as much as we love watching him run, we need
- 21:11Speaker 3: to see the offense, you know, perform as it's drawn up.
- 21:17Speaker 4: Byron Young is the second year guy that I was
- 21:19Speaker 4: thinking of off the edge. Yeah, he's he's played pretty
- 21:22Speaker 4: well too. They're they're coming into their own. They've had
- 21:24Speaker 4: some injuries and some of those guys up front are
- 21:27Speaker 4: coming back. This will be a tough game unless the rims,
- 21:32Speaker 4: you know, just completely lay an egg, which could happen, Yes, Chigo,
- 21:37Speaker 4: just did you know these things happen? But they have. Yeah,
- 21:43Speaker 4: I don't have the latest update here. Yeah. Five five
- 21:46Speaker 4: sacks for Turner, five sacks for Young, four sacks for Verse,
- 21:51Speaker 4: three sacks for Fisk, three for Hay. They have like
- 21:55Speaker 4: five five guys.
- 21:56Speaker 3: With three or more sacks.
- 21:57Speaker 4: That's a lot. Yeah, But I don't think it's a
- 21:59Speaker 4: team that's necessarily built on well, we're just gonna they
- 22:02Speaker 4: don't have Aaron Donald's, let's put it that way.
- 22:05Speaker 3: I think when you have a creative offensive coordinator slash
- 22:09Speaker 3: coach like mcvey's, I think that trickles down to the defense.
- 22:14Speaker 3: You know, some of that creativity kind of rubs off,
- 22:17Speaker 3: and I think that's what you see in the distribution
- 22:20Speaker 3: of the pressure. You know, they probably dial up things
- 22:23Speaker 3: and bring it from different areas. You know, have been
- 22:26Speaker 3: relatively successful doing that.
- 22:28Speaker 4: Yeah, and they've been able to create the way the
- 22:29Speaker 4: secondary is not like statistically has not been good. But
- 22:33Speaker 4: they do take the ball away a little bit. Yeah,
- 22:35Speaker 4: so again I'm going to protect the ball.
- 22:38Speaker 3: So on the other side of the ball, you know,
- 22:40Speaker 3: I think it was a great game for a lot
- 22:42Speaker 3: of you know, second, you know, guys that didn't start
- 22:47Speaker 3: this season as starters and have been thrust in that
- 22:49Speaker 3: position for the Patriots. The question is is it wasn't real?
- 22:53Speaker 3: How much of it was the Bears? You know? And
- 22:56Speaker 3: I think this is a great test for that because
- 22:59Speaker 3: you're gonna be stressed. They've got the Rams have talent
- 23:03Speaker 3: in different areas, so it's not like you can just
- 23:07Speaker 3: take out one guy and okay, now the offense collapses. No,
- 23:11Speaker 3: They've got a lot of talent in different areas. So
- 23:14Speaker 3: if the defense can come close to last week's performance,
- 23:18Speaker 3: I mean that's what I do.
- 23:19Speaker 4: I do agree with you in that it's winnable because
- 23:21Speaker 4: I don't think the Rams are quite there yet. Yeah,
- 23:23Speaker 4: Like I think that they've they've done a good job
- 23:26Speaker 4: I think of rebuilding on the fly, and they've really
- 23:29Speaker 4: turned over the defense. But I don't think it's a
- 23:31Speaker 4: team that you just look at and say, well, you know,
- 23:34Speaker 4: they're going to win this game, They're going to win
- 23:36Speaker 4: that game. You know, they were life and death with
- 23:38Speaker 4: the Raiders a few weeks back. Yea, you know, they've
- 23:41Speaker 4: had some they've played better, but they've also struggled that record.
- 23:46Speaker 4: Now four and five, four.
- 23:48Speaker 3: And five, I mean that's who they are, right, you know?
- 23:51Speaker 4: Now? They are that because of the mass of injuries
- 23:54Speaker 4: they had in the first month and a half. I
- 23:56Speaker 4: mean they played some of those games with literally no
- 23:58Speaker 4: they were one in four because nobody was. I mean,
- 24:01Speaker 4: they had like three linemen.
- 24:02Speaker 3: Two receivers for injuries. No.
- 24:05Speaker 4: I'm just like, but when those guys came back, they won.
- 24:10Speaker 4: That's like, to me, that's the difference. When their personnel
- 24:15Speaker 4: is on the field. They've generally won except for Monday Monday, right,
- 24:19Speaker 4: And you said that they just made mistakes, and I
- 24:23Speaker 4: would absolutely defer to you because I didn't. I didn't
- 24:27Speaker 4: see it.
- 24:27Speaker 3: Yeah, I think they were their own worst enemy in
- 24:32Speaker 3: that game.
- 24:33Speaker 4: So I think you're gonna need something like that to
- 24:35Speaker 4: win again. That's kind of the point.
- 24:37Speaker 3: And obviously I was rooting for the Rams, so I
- 24:39Speaker 3: was getting more frustrated because I wanted them to beat
- 24:41Speaker 3: the Dolphins.
- 24:42Speaker 4: I'm curious as to why I don't.
- 24:44Speaker 3: I just don't like the Dolphins. I want them to lose.
- 24:46Speaker 4: I hate for no reason.
- 24:47Speaker 3: Yeah, it's not like it's not like I'm saying, oh,
- 24:49Speaker 3: you know, the Patriots are battling for positioning for the
- 24:53Speaker 3: playoffs against the Dolphins. No, I just wanted the Dolphins
- 24:56Speaker 3: to lie.
- 24:56Speaker 4: I didn't know if maybe you were doing that whole
- 24:58Speaker 4: it's better to play the team that you're gonna play
- 25:00Speaker 4: coming off a win than a loss. A lot of
- 25:02Speaker 4: people buy that. Oh yeah, I'm not a big fan.
- 25:05Speaker 3: I wasn't thinking of that. No, I'm not a big
- 25:07Speaker 3: fan of that. Yeh.
- 25:08Speaker 4: Like, I think it's better that they maybe now look back, now,
- 25:11Speaker 4: maybe we're not that good, Maybe we are the one
- 25:13Speaker 4: in four team. Maybe they have some doubt. Yeah, you
- 25:16Speaker 4: know what I mean.
- 25:17Speaker 3: So, but both teams, you know, because it's good scouting
- 25:20Speaker 3: for the Patriots because they have those teams back to back.
- 25:23Speaker 3: Both those teams did not play well. It wasn't good football.
- 25:27Speaker 4: The Dolphins defense played well, but they couldn't. They didn't
- 25:30Speaker 4: move the ball very well.
- 25:31Speaker 3: That they they really didn't.
- 25:32Speaker 4: They did have that good drive at the end.
- 25:34Speaker 3: And I will say that, you know too, at some
- 25:37Speaker 3: point times was inaccurate. But he was let down by
- 25:40Speaker 3: his receivers too. I mean, I mean there was one
- 25:43Speaker 3: it was Mons were great downfield. Waddle had at least
- 25:48Speaker 3: a thirty yard should have been catched right through his hands,
- 25:51Speaker 3: hit him in the helmet. I mean it was all
- 25:56Speaker 3: so we'll see. It's going to be an interesting two weeks.
- 25:59Speaker 3: But I would love to just get that two games
- 26:03Speaker 3: in a row, a win at home. You know, we
- 26:06Speaker 3: Gillette Stadium has ceased to be the big advantage it
- 26:10Speaker 3: used to be in terms of home field advantage. So
- 26:13Speaker 3: it would be great to just get another home win
- 26:17Speaker 3: this year against a good team, have a little momentum
- 26:21Speaker 3: going down to Miami, a tough place to play for
- 26:24Speaker 3: the Patriot.
- 26:25Speaker 4: It's yeah. I mean, we'll see what the state that
- 26:30Speaker 4: the Dolphins are in in that game. I don't give
- 26:32Speaker 4: them much of a shot in that one.
- 26:33Speaker 3: Patriots.
- 26:34Speaker 4: Yeah yeah, Colts Well went back and made a quarterback change.
- 26:39Speaker 3: Yeah, back to Richardson.
- 26:40Speaker 4: So you can pencil that one and that's a w.
- 26:42Speaker 3: Well I think either one. I think.
- 26:44Speaker 4: I think it's a big difference in Flacco plays, not
- 26:46Speaker 4: the way you can throw against Minnesota. Yeah you don't
- 26:50Speaker 4: have that, like you can't, like you Why don't you
- 26:52Speaker 4: watch the other games that he played?
- 26:54Speaker 3: Yeah? No, no's he's been getting worse. I'm not worried
- 26:58Speaker 3: about Joe Flacco.
- 27:00Speaker 4: But you don't have to. I don't have to, and
- 27:01Speaker 4: he's not playing.
- 27:02Speaker 3: So now you have to worry about a guy who's
- 27:04Speaker 3: going to run around a little.
- 27:05Speaker 4: He can't play yet, he's not ready. Now you can't throw.
- 27:09Speaker 4: It's kind of a tricky. That's a kind of a requirement,
- 27:12Speaker 4: kind of have to do that quarterback. It's kind of
- 27:14Speaker 4: like when Costanza wanted to be like the announcer yea,
- 27:18Speaker 4: you know, made the witty comments.
- 27:19Speaker 3: You know, you kind of had to have done that.
- 27:22Speaker 3: It's interesting because last year when he's started, he wasn't
- 27:26Speaker 3: playing poorly Richardson until he got hurt.
- 27:30Speaker 4: Yeah, but most of what he was doing was just
- 27:32Speaker 4: kind of being an athlete.
- 27:34Speaker 3: But that was his thing coming out of college. They
- 27:36Speaker 3: knew he was raw, he was.
- 27:37Speaker 4: Yeah, that's why I thought it was weird that. First
- 27:39Speaker 4: of all, I never would have taken him that high,
- 27:42Speaker 4: but I thought it was weird that they gave him
- 27:43Speaker 4: the starting job right out of the shoot.
- 27:46Speaker 3: So all right, so I I think.
- 27:48Speaker 4: I mean they almost made the playoffs with godn minshew. Yeah,
- 27:51Speaker 4: I think he stinks.
- 27:52Speaker 3: I think the Colts is a game you should win absolutely.
- 27:55Speaker 4: Yeah, Uh all right, can I change should to could could. Okay, Yeah,
- 28:03Speaker 4: I'm gonna.
- 28:03Speaker 3: But just say that to me. You say every game
- 28:05Speaker 3: is could.
- 28:06Speaker 4: I but I think that they have a better better
- 28:08Speaker 4: chance in that game than the other the other seven remains.
- 28:11Speaker 4: I agree with that that's the best chance for a
- 28:12Speaker 4: win out of those seven remainis. Yes, I agree in
- 28:15Speaker 4: my view. Not telling you they're only going to win
- 28:17Speaker 4: one game. I'm just saying that's the best odds I
- 28:20Speaker 4: would give them, And largely because of Anthony Richardson, I
- 28:23Speaker 4: just don't think he's ready to win.
- 28:24Speaker 3: So if the Patriots end up with five wins this season,
- 28:27Speaker 3: is this a better season than last season?
- 28:30Speaker 4: Sure? Okay, because you're playing a rookie quarterback.
- 28:33Speaker 3: I heard something, Yeah, I heard that you have like hope.
- 28:35Speaker 4: For the future. Yep, yeah, I mean provided that, Like
- 28:39Speaker 4: I would feel better about it if he played better
- 28:41Speaker 4: than he did Sunday. Like if they win all the
- 28:43Speaker 4: games like they did Sunday, I won't feel as good
- 28:45Speaker 4: about it, but I'll still feel better about it than
- 28:47Speaker 4: last year. Yeah, because you have a rookie quarterback and
- 28:51Speaker 4: you're on the way up, Like, can't you feel like
- 28:54Speaker 4: I'm I don't know, I'm probably being corny. Can't you
- 28:56Speaker 4: feel like a difference between the.
- 28:57Speaker 5: Way Oh god, yeah, people sort of have.
- 29:00Speaker 4: Responded to Drake May's presence then they then then last year,
- 29:05Speaker 4: like last year was no one talking about, wow, look
- 29:08Speaker 4: at these wins, like this is great. No one was
- 29:10Speaker 4: talking like that.
- 29:11Speaker 3: Last year was just a terrible feeling overall. It wasn't
- 29:16Speaker 3: just Mac Jones, it was just the whole feeling of
- 29:18Speaker 3: the team. It was it was just I.
- 29:21Speaker 4: Think, But I think that's the difference is Drake May. Yeah,
- 29:25Speaker 4: noything else is largely the same.
- 29:27Speaker 3: Yeah. I think you just felt like you were just
- 29:30Speaker 3: playing it out last year and nobody was talking to
- 29:33Speaker 3: everybody that it was just like, I know, mommy and
- 29:36Speaker 3: Daddy were fighting.
- 29:38Speaker 4: You know, some people probably felt like, well, if you
- 29:40Speaker 4: could get Mac Jones two top receivers and fix the
- 29:43Speaker 4: offensive line, you know, they could do all this. I didn't. Yeah,
- 29:47Speaker 4: so I didn't really have any hope, right, But now
- 29:50Speaker 4: I do have hope. Yeah, because I think that if
- 29:52Speaker 4: you do plug in with the right guys, and I'm
- 29:55Speaker 4: not saying it would be an overnight fix, but I
- 29:58Speaker 4: think if you got him two really good receivers, your
- 30:01Speaker 4: offensive line theory from yesterday that you sold me on,
- 30:04Speaker 4: like all of a sudden, I think you have the
- 30:05Speaker 4: makings are having a pretty good offense.
- 30:07Speaker 3: I want to talk about that for a sink, because
- 30:09Speaker 3: I was thinking about something when it comes to offensive line.
- 30:12Speaker 3: But the rest of the football intelligence gentsia has caught
- 30:17Speaker 3: up with you, Paul, caught up with you and me.
- 30:19Speaker 3: You have you seen all the praise of Drake May
- 30:23Speaker 3: as a person that's come out yesterday like you were,
- 30:26Speaker 3: you were, I think they're listening to you. But all
- 30:29Speaker 3: the stuff about him is a good guy, a great leader,
- 30:33Speaker 3: like I just oh, yeah, it was.
- 30:36Speaker 4: I'm not I'm not saying any of that. I'm just
- 30:38Speaker 4: telling you that I watched this guy. I haven't spoken
- 30:40Speaker 4: to him by my you know, aside from the day
- 30:42Speaker 4: that we had him on the show. I think that's
- 30:44Speaker 4: probably the only time that we've individually spoken to him.
- 30:48Speaker 4: I just like the way he.
- 30:49Speaker 3: Carries himself, and the rest of the league agrees.
- 30:52Speaker 4: You know. I'm I don't know what it says about
- 30:55Speaker 4: him being a great leader, Like I don't think any
- 30:58Speaker 4: any of that. I'm not ready to say, well that
- 31:00Speaker 4: that is fact, Like I don't know about how any
- 31:03Speaker 4: of that's going to play out. But I'm just telling
- 31:05Speaker 4: you I like him, And I know that sounds so corny,
- 31:08Speaker 4: but I like him.
- 31:09Speaker 3: And I think the team likes him. I think his
- 31:11Speaker 3: coaches like him. And uh and now these analysts across
- 31:17Speaker 3: the league.
- 31:18Speaker 4: Even today, he's talking about, you know, being more productive
- 31:21Speaker 4: offensively in the red zone, and you know that starts
- 31:24Speaker 4: with me. I can't throw an interception. The interception wasn't
- 31:27Speaker 4: even in the red zone. But he's bringing up his mistake.
- 31:31Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 31:31Speaker 4: I like that.
- 31:32Speaker 3: Yeah, I like that. I have a feeling that when
- 31:35Speaker 3: it comes to offensive line, we're gonna have a lot
- 31:37Speaker 3: of good discussions in the off season as we get
- 31:39Speaker 3: close to the draft and how the Patriots should use
- 31:42Speaker 3: their money and their assets and all that stuff. But
- 31:46Speaker 3: tell me, if you agree with this, if you have
- 31:50Speaker 3: five good linemen, not great, five good linemen, you can
- 31:55Speaker 3: have an elite line.
- 31:56Speaker 4: You'll be fine. Yeah. Absolutely, in the NFL, I don't
- 31:59Speaker 4: I don't need an elite line. Let me can just
- 32:01Speaker 4: state that emphatically. Yeah, I just can't have guys that
- 32:04Speaker 4: can't get in the way. I can't have what I
- 32:06Speaker 4: saw Chicago do Sunday. But you have you seen much
- 32:10Speaker 4: of a worse performance by a line than that.
- 32:12Speaker 3: But it was awful, but the whole thing was terrible.
- 32:15Speaker 4: It can't be like that.
- 32:17Speaker 3: What I'm trying to say is, to me, it's more
- 32:20Speaker 3: important to have five good guys than have one or
- 32:23Speaker 3: two really good guys and then the rest stink.
- 32:26Speaker 4: Well, the Chiefs do it that way. Yeah, the Chiefs
- 32:29Speaker 4: have a couple of outstanding linemen and the other two stink.
- 32:32Speaker 3: And what's their point production this year? I don't know.
- 32:35Speaker 3: They're notine and oh I know, but they're not you know,
- 32:37Speaker 3: come on, be honest.
- 32:38Speaker 4: Now, I'm just telling you they're holding them back.
- 32:41Speaker 3: No, but their defense is really.
- 32:42Speaker 4: What is holding them back? Nothing offensively, nothing nothing, not
- 32:47Speaker 4: the fact that they're all out.
- 32:48Speaker 3: No, but they're nine and I how's Rashi.
- 32:50Speaker 4: Rice playing, Ha's Isaiah Pacheco playing.
- 32:53Speaker 3: I don't know, but I'm just saying they're white productions down.
- 32:55Speaker 4: That's why I'm telling you why because their skill position
- 32:58Speaker 4: guys aren't playing.
- 32:58Speaker 3: Okay, But I'm I'm saying that I'd rather have five
- 33:02Speaker 3: good guys than one or two great and then the
- 33:04Speaker 3: rest stink.
- 33:06Speaker 4: No, that's fine. Yeah, I'm just telling you that the
- 33:08Speaker 4: best team in football has three really good linemen on
- 33:11Speaker 4: the inside and two absolutely.
- 33:13Speaker 3: Terrible times and the greatest player in the game.
- 33:15Speaker 4: Correct, Okay, so I'll take the greatest player in the game.
- 33:18Speaker 3: But that's how the Patriots, I know, but you can't
- 33:20Speaker 3: count on.
- 33:21Speaker 4: But that's how the Patriots did it for twenty I
- 33:23Speaker 4: like that, but I'm not assuming that. I'm not like
- 33:25Speaker 4: Mike Rousseau like that.
- 33:27Speaker 3: But that's not fair, and I know it's not fair,
- 33:30Speaker 3: but that's fair. I think even I can't be I know,
- 33:33Speaker 3: but I think even during the Dynasty there were times
- 33:35Speaker 3: where the NFR line wasn't that great.
- 33:37Speaker 4: That's what I'm saying. I don't need to have with you.
- 33:41Speaker 4: I don't need to have.
- 33:41Speaker 3: An elite the greatest player in the game. I don't
- 33:44Speaker 3: need an elite line, but I need a good line.
- 33:47Speaker 3: I don't Oh, I just can't have them be traffic coding. Okay,
- 33:51Speaker 3: so then you're with me, then maybe we should.
- 33:55Speaker 4: That's what I said. You sold me. I've said at
- 33:57Speaker 4: the end of the show yesterday, you really like the
- 33:59Speaker 4: more you talked about it, because I've sort of like, no,
- 34:03Speaker 4: I got to take my medicine. I'm not a big
- 34:05Speaker 4: line guy, but you got they got to get a
- 34:06Speaker 4: left tackle. And then you kept talking about it, and
- 34:08Speaker 4: I was like, he's not wrong. I was thinking to
- 34:10Speaker 4: myself the whole time, this is like the first time
- 34:12Speaker 4: I've ever been in an argument with you and thinking
- 34:14Speaker 4: to myself, I'm losing my friends beating me.
- 34:18Speaker 3: But more more importantly than getting that blue Chipper is
- 34:21Speaker 3: having a good line coach and drafting or getting the
- 34:26Speaker 3: right guys. They don't have to be elite.
- 34:28Speaker 4: You need to have a good line, but it doesn't
- 34:30Speaker 4: have to be elite. I totally agree with you. I
- 34:32Speaker 4: think Detroit is great. Listen, It's great to have Panic school.
- 34:35Speaker 4: He's a great tackle, and I think any team would
- 34:39Speaker 4: take him. I just don't think you have to have
- 34:41Speaker 4: that level of alignment in order to have a successful offense, right.
- 34:45Speaker 4: You just can't have a terrible line like Cincinnati and
- 34:49Speaker 4: Kansas City back to back years went all the way
- 34:51Speaker 4: to the Super Bowl with the absolute worst offensive lines
- 34:54Speaker 4: in football back to back seasons. Yep, now they lost
- 34:58Speaker 4: in the Super Bowl. I get it, you know, Like
- 35:00Speaker 4: Felger would tell me where did they win? Yeah, Like, okay,
- 35:04Speaker 4: well he goes go and forth, kind of like Randy Moss.
- 35:07Speaker 4: You can never win anything with Randy Moss because you know.
- 35:11Speaker 3: But he got caught in a uh, you know, a
- 35:14Speaker 3: contradiction the other day because he was talking about, you know,
- 35:16Speaker 3: I'd rather be the Steelers because every year they're they're
- 35:20Speaker 3: they're in it, every year they're in it. But then
- 35:22Speaker 3: he makes fun of the Bruins over in the past
- 35:25Speaker 3: because they get to the playoffs and then they lose.
- 35:28Speaker 3: You know.
- 35:29Speaker 4: So yeah, he likes, he likes because it whatever's the
- 35:33Speaker 4: anti Boston right stands right, you know, like Pittsburgh. Now,
- 35:39Speaker 4: I don't know, maybe this year is different for Pittsburgh.
- 35:42Speaker 4: Maybe Russell Wilson is playing a little bit better than
- 35:44Speaker 4: he has and he's putting him over the top a
- 35:47Speaker 4: little bit. I don't know. I haven't watched enough specifically.
- 35:50Speaker 4: I wasn't overly impressed with Wilson's first start against the Jets.
- 35:53Speaker 3: But maybe he's produced.
- 35:55Speaker 4: Maybe he's done. Maybe he's doing better than I what
- 35:57Speaker 4: I saw last year, and maybe he's the missing ingredient.
- 36:01Speaker 4: But Pittsburgh the last three or four years, you can
- 36:04Speaker 4: take that. I have no interest in that. Like being
- 36:08Speaker 4: a middling team that finds a way because they're well
- 36:10Speaker 4: coached to win enough to squeak in the playoffs and
- 36:14Speaker 4: get you know, bounced out in the first round. Like
- 36:17Speaker 4: I don't need that. Yeah every year. Now, I'm not
- 36:20Speaker 4: telling you, like right now, I take that in a heartbeat.
- 36:22Speaker 4: You want to tell me that the path is there
- 36:24Speaker 4: for the Patriots and all of a sudden they go
- 36:25Speaker 4: five and two down the stretch and squeak into the
- 36:28Speaker 4: playoffs somehow take eight and I'd take that.
- 36:30Speaker 3: But eventually you got to get over the hump.
- 36:32Speaker 4: But I don't want that four years in a row,
- 36:34Speaker 4: and that's where Pittsburgh has been.
- 36:35Speaker 3: Yeah. But but like you said with Russell speaking of mediocrity,
- 36:39Speaker 3: whoa but but.
- 36:44Speaker 10: Players friendly to none of them look like Derek Henry. Hey, Mike,
- 36:49Speaker 10: what was it like in the locker room?
- 36:54Speaker 5: What was it like in the.
- 36:57Speaker 3: Locker All right, Mike, As you can see, we've already
- 37:01Speaker 3: talked a lot, so we'll give the floor to you.
- 37:04Speaker 9: Oh, thank you. Uh, No, very busy day today.
- 37:06Speaker 3: Busy.
- 37:07Speaker 9: Yeah, there were a lot of guys, a lot of
- 37:09Speaker 9: guys talking. It's pretty good. We heard from Uh. Kind
- 37:13Speaker 9: of impressed by him. He just like I know, we
- 37:15Speaker 9: talked about does this guy want to come here. I mean,
- 37:17Speaker 9: Mike Reese asked him directly, like, you.
- 37:20Speaker 6: Know, you're going from a team that was winning a
- 37:21Speaker 6: lot to a team that isn't Uh. He doesn't seem
- 37:23Speaker 6: to care. He just seems like he's in. He's happy
- 37:26Speaker 6: to be here. I would put my SFG serious football
- 37:29Speaker 6: guy Monitor Moniker on him, like he just he seems
- 37:32Speaker 6: like he's all business.
- 37:34Speaker 3: When you say you're impressed, I thought you might say
- 37:35Speaker 3: in a Derek Henry.
- 37:37Speaker 9: No no, no, no, no, no, come on, that's that's ridiculous.
- 37:40Speaker 4: Imagine if we had a guy in the.
- 37:41Speaker 9: Lockdown it was a former Raven all right, but yeah,
- 37:44Speaker 9: at the.
- 37:44Speaker 3: Same time Mike would camp out.
- 37:47Speaker 6: Uh but no, just you know, he just seems no nonsense,
- 37:50Speaker 6: veteran kind of guy gets it.
- 37:51Speaker 7: You know.
- 37:52Speaker 9: The question was, were you surprised at all?
- 37:53Speaker 6: He's like, no, this is the NFL, like so good
- 37:56Speaker 6: responses quick, you know, direct. It was kind of the
- 37:58Speaker 6: vibe I got from him. So maybe write a little
- 38:00Speaker 6: bit about him today. Her from Joe Cardona talked about
- 38:03Speaker 6: the Notre Dame Navy game coming up in two years,
- 38:06Speaker 6: so he's excited for that. A little bit about Veterans
- 38:09Speaker 6: Day July Tavia, who was dubbed father of the Year already.
- 38:12Speaker 6: I'm like, that's been a father for like a week.
- 38:14Speaker 6: I'm like, that's like us maybe take that a little personally,
- 38:16Speaker 6: but huge week for him. He was just still seemed
- 38:19Speaker 6: like he was kind of spinning, as any parent knows, like.
- 38:22Speaker 9: Those early days are a little rough air when you
- 38:24Speaker 9: got the baby. Not a lot of sleep. Uh, still
- 38:26Speaker 9: catching up hides Joey slides a new dad as well,
- 38:31Speaker 9: So a couple of new babies there.
- 38:32Speaker 11: Uh.
- 38:32Speaker 6: Jonathan Jones talking a little bit as well, just as
- 38:36Speaker 6: you know, breaking down the locker room at the end,
- 38:38Speaker 6: asked a little bit about that playing the safety.
- 38:41Speaker 3: Role a little bit.
- 38:43Speaker 9: Yeah, and he had to.
- 38:44Speaker 6: He had a good little tidbit about that, which is
- 38:46Speaker 6: what the the first time they had him do what
- 38:48Speaker 6: he said was in the Super Bowl against the Rams.
- 38:50Speaker 9: It was kind of interesting. So he brought that up.
- 38:54Speaker 6: And then there was one more guy, oh, Jalen Hawkins
- 38:57Speaker 6: as well, so another uh you know, another one of
- 38:59Speaker 6: the defensive guys. And I think they're all echoing the
- 39:01Speaker 6: theme for Jira Meo this week, which is we got
- 39:04Speaker 6: to try to stack two games together. Uh, two wins together.
- 39:07Speaker 6: I think the quote that that Jalen Hawkins was using
- 39:09Speaker 6: is that old keys don't work on new doors, so
- 39:12Speaker 6: we have to find the new keys to open the
- 39:13Speaker 6: new doors.
- 39:15Speaker 9: I think was the what they're using. That's a little tidbit.
- 39:17Speaker 6: But yeah, a bunch of guys talking. I think I
- 39:20Speaker 6: mentioned Pop Douglas too was the last one that that
- 39:22Speaker 6: closed it out.
- 39:23Speaker 9: So good group good, a cross section.
- 39:25Speaker 6: Of no not yet they they did seem a little
- 39:29Speaker 6: bit uh bundled up, I would say, because it is
- 39:31Speaker 6: a little chili out there today. But but now nobody
- 39:33Speaker 6: seemed too worse for it. Seemed like Jalen Hawkins was
- 39:35Speaker 6: a little maybe a little under the weather though, So
- 39:37Speaker 6: maybe that's something to to watch with the locker room
- 39:40Speaker 6: hawk that come on, hawk, get healthy guy.
- 39:44Speaker 9: But yeah, no, I think and Goway was the biggest,
- 39:47Speaker 9: you know, made the biggest impression on me obvious just
- 39:49Speaker 9: being a new guy.
- 39:50Speaker 3: And you know, you think he has a chance to
- 39:52Speaker 3: play this week.
- 39:52Speaker 7: I do.
- 39:53Speaker 6: I mean I think with Dietrick Wise, you know we
- 39:56Speaker 6: usually hear from Tetrick.
- 39:57Speaker 3: Wise on these days.
- 39:58Speaker 6: He heard his ankle, you know, we said after the
- 40:00Speaker 6: game he was okay, I saw Reese kind of speculating
- 40:03Speaker 6: on Twitter a little bit that maybe there's.
- 40:05Speaker 9: Something up with him.
- 40:06Speaker 6: So, I mean that's what in goakway does I know,
- 40:08Speaker 6: you know, known as a pass rusher, but he's a
- 40:10Speaker 6: defensive end like like you know, like wise is so
- 40:13Speaker 6: I could easily see him. They might have to throw him,
- 40:16Speaker 6: you know, right in the fire, which wouldn't be a
- 40:17Speaker 6: bad I don't know why not, you know, throw him
- 40:18Speaker 6: in there, see what he's got.
- 40:20Speaker 3: So yeah, you have him as well use it. Sure.
- 40:23Speaker 4: Yeah, Now I know it was about him, you know
- 40:25Speaker 4: personal who was listed as why he was out last week?
- 40:30Speaker 9: Who was was Ina?
- 40:32Speaker 4: So it wasn't like an injury or anything like that.
- 40:35Speaker 4: So yeah, yeah, he also practices during the week. I
- 40:38Speaker 4: would expect him to be up on it as they
- 40:40Speaker 4: say he should be up.
- 40:41Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 40:41Speaker 9: One other buzzword was was all three downs?
- 40:43Speaker 6: He said, you know, just that was something that what
- 40:44Speaker 6: did the coaches talked to you about come in make
- 40:47Speaker 6: an impact on all three downs?
- 40:48Speaker 4: So he's got to play all three downs. Like back
- 40:51Speaker 4: to the we talk about. You know, Fred's been talking
- 40:53Speaker 4: about like so many guys thrust into roles that they
- 40:57Speaker 4: probably didn't envision you know Jeremiah Farms playing so well
- 41:01Speaker 4: on Sunday.
- 41:01Speaker 3: And yeah, you know del Pettis tough times.
- 41:06Speaker 4: Del Pettis another one had us.
- 41:07Speaker 9: Yeah, so no good day.
- 41:09Speaker 4: It was active.
- 41:09Speaker 6: I mean, it just feels like I got a lot
- 41:11Speaker 6: of guys, a lot of guys talked, and a.
- 41:13Speaker 9: Little bit just feels a little bit more juice to
- 41:15Speaker 9: the team.
- 41:15Speaker 6: I mean, we spent a bunch of weeks back to
- 41:17Speaker 6: back after losses and it's kind of the same thing.
- 41:20Speaker 6: And I think everybody was sick of being on that treadmill.
- 41:22Speaker 6: So it's it's nice to just change it up a
- 41:23Speaker 6: little bit and see a team with, you know, a
- 41:25Speaker 6: little confidence, a little bit more belief in themselves and
- 41:27Speaker 6: now trying to get another I heard.
- 41:29Speaker 3: You on your appearance on one of Paul's shows this morning.
- 41:32Speaker 4: Yeah, I like how I did hear.
- 41:34Speaker 3: I like how Fred says that, you know, we have
- 41:37Speaker 3: a mind because he's a friend of Hearty.
- 41:39Speaker 9: Said that this is his friend, Like.
- 41:45Speaker 4: Right, he doesn't know anything, no, but he was interacting
- 41:48Speaker 4: with you a little bit more this week than here.
- 41:50Speaker 9: I feel like I'm making connections with Fred. Well, yeah,
- 41:54Speaker 9: I don't know. I mean, he's I think I mean,
- 41:56Speaker 9: you guys know me.
- 41:56Speaker 6: I I'm always ready to joke and have a sense
- 41:59Speaker 6: of humor about stuff.
- 42:00Speaker 4: And you know.
- 42:00Speaker 9: He just he seems like he has like great rants
- 42:03Speaker 9: and you know, so I don't know.
- 42:04Speaker 3: I likes movies, so you know the fact that you
- 42:06Speaker 3: were in Hollywood, and.
- 42:07Speaker 6: I haven't impressed him with that yet, I don't think,
- 42:09Speaker 6: but I'm sure Hardy told him.
- 42:11Speaker 9: But yeah, it's always every time I go on there,
- 42:13Speaker 9: do we do a zoom call? I use the zoom audio.
- 42:16Speaker 9: I'm not I'm not.
- 42:18Speaker 3: They don't want this on twit.
- 42:20Speaker 4: No, they don't want to see how physically I know
- 42:22Speaker 4: you don't.
- 42:22Speaker 9: I don't. I mean they're lost, right.
- 42:24Speaker 3: They on YouTube?
- 42:25Speaker 4: I don't know because I think are yeah, yeah, because
- 42:29Speaker 4: he always says YouTube.
- 42:30Speaker 9: Yeah, it always calls it YouTube. It's good see fighting,
- 42:33Speaker 9: funny stuff. But no, I appreciate those guys having me on.
- 42:36Speaker 9: It's a it's always a little stressful though, like you
- 42:38Speaker 9: wake up and you're like, I gotta be on the radio.
- 42:39Speaker 9: What's twenty minutes.
- 42:40Speaker 7: I gotta like.
- 42:41Speaker 9: Find the energy, you know.
- 42:43Speaker 4: But that was good.
- 42:44Speaker 3: It's good, like those guys good stuff.
- 42:46Speaker 4: Yeah, it was a good way to kick off my commute,
- 42:48Speaker 4: Well quick on qick on the radio, and here we
- 42:51Speaker 4: go and as soon as like right at the very
- 42:53Speaker 4: beginning today, Usually it's like in the middle, I'm like, hey,
- 42:55Speaker 4: I know that.
- 42:56Speaker 9: Do you find it funny though, Paul?
- 42:57Speaker 6: When you do, like when you go, I know you're
- 42:58Speaker 6: going felder Mass later today. But sometimes I feel like
- 43:00Speaker 6: I'm like, crap, I'm playing the hits off a PU
- 43:03Speaker 6: right now. Like I know, it's like I've already workshopped
- 43:05Speaker 6: this take, you know, like you just kind of.
- 43:06Speaker 4: Go to what you've already knew things you're gonna come
- 43:08Speaker 4: up with number one. I always find it funny that,
- 43:14Speaker 4: you know, like Andy and I used to joke around
- 43:16Speaker 4: and all, you know, did you happen to hear me say?
- 43:18Speaker 4: And we would always say no, what I listen to
- 43:22Speaker 4: you every day. I don't need to hear what you like.
- 43:24Speaker 6: I know what you just So that's because I know
- 43:26Speaker 6: you guys have commutes, So I'm always when I go on,
- 43:28Speaker 6: I'm always assuming you guys are tuning in, and I'm
- 43:30Speaker 6: just imagining you guys being like.
- 43:31Speaker 9: Oh, yeah, dude, that's what you said. Yes, get some
- 43:34Speaker 9: new material.
- 43:36Speaker 3: It's true, it's a new audience. Really there is some crossover,
- 43:40Speaker 3: but most of the people listening did not listen to.
- 43:42Speaker 4: Us no particular week. And I know that, you know,
- 43:45Speaker 4: people tease us, like, you know, the whole Sunshine dot
- 43:47Speaker 4: Com thing, But in this particular week it is a
- 43:50Speaker 4: little bit easier to do it because you're talking about
- 43:53Speaker 4: more things that went well than have typically been the
- 43:56Speaker 4: case this year. So that's one of them, you know.
- 44:01Speaker 4: And you know, I know, I really misspoke. He played
- 44:04Speaker 4: two plays in the first half, right, I know, I lied.
- 44:07Speaker 4: I was called out on my lives according to somebody
- 44:09Speaker 4: on Twitter.
- 44:11Speaker 9: It was like it was five snaps. I just don't
- 44:13Speaker 9: care about it.
- 44:13Speaker 4: I just I still don't. But I mean, fairest far
- 44:17Speaker 4: I lied, didn't recall the first two plays. But you
- 44:22Speaker 4: don't have to go out of your way to sort
- 44:24Speaker 4: of manufacture Hey, you know, it was really good, like
- 44:26Speaker 4: you know, the the blocking on the on the punt,
- 44:29Speaker 4: on the punt return, you know, like, no, like there
- 44:31Speaker 4: were a lot of things that were really good in
- 44:33Speaker 4: the game. You know, they get nine sacks, they shut
- 44:35Speaker 4: down DeAndre Swift. You talking about the secondary being really tight,
- 44:40Speaker 4: the you know, Joey slide making four field goals in
- 44:43Speaker 4: tough conditions, you know, the offense showing some wrinkles, the
- 44:46Speaker 4: goal line play. To Jalen, you don't have to make
- 44:48Speaker 4: any of that up. It makes it a lot easier
- 44:51Speaker 4: for us to sort of talk on these shows.
- 44:54Speaker 3: Paul and I were talking before you got here about
- 44:57Speaker 3: Mayo's press conference today. He was mentioning that a VP
- 45:02Speaker 3: deserves a lot of credit for the development so far
- 45:05Speaker 3: of Drake may I don't know if you heard any
- 45:07Speaker 3: of that you had a reaction to it was there next.
- 45:10Speaker 9: To Paul, No. I think.
- 45:12Speaker 6: I mean, look, I think nobody's caught more criticism than
- 45:15Speaker 6: a VP, maybe, Like I mean, the hiring of him,
- 45:18Speaker 6: the whole thing. I mean we I mean we we
- 45:20Speaker 6: had it here on our show for for six months,
- 45:22Speaker 6: you know, figuring out tight pants guy or what kind.
- 45:25Speaker 9: Offense it is.
- 45:26Speaker 6: So I just think, like the bottom line for me
- 45:28Speaker 6: is that the players really seem to like him. I mean,
- 45:30Speaker 6: you saw Hunter Henry kind of light up a little
- 45:32Speaker 6: bit talking about.
- 45:33Speaker 9: Him as well.
- 45:33Speaker 6: So I don't know, it's just it's so hard, Like
- 45:37Speaker 6: he's a really experienced guy. He's played in the NFL,
- 45:39Speaker 6: and I think that's worth a lot to the players
- 45:42Speaker 6: and you know, look, if Drake, I think going back
- 45:44Speaker 6: to like you know what we kind of got into yesterday, Like,
- 45:46Speaker 6: if Drake continues to improve and the mistakes start to
- 45:48Speaker 6: come down, and then you really get a sense of
- 45:51Speaker 6: what this offense is because I feel like over these
- 45:53Speaker 6: first whatever it is, like eleven weeks, you've been seeing
- 45:56Speaker 6: little pieces of it. But even going back to the
- 45:59Speaker 6: locker room, just hearing from these guys talking about the
- 46:01Speaker 6: Rams offense, which kind of similar thing Jonathan Jones saying
- 46:04Speaker 6: it all starts with the run. It all starts with
- 46:06Speaker 6: the run for these guys. If they get running on you,
- 46:09Speaker 6: it's going to open up their whole offense. And the
- 46:11Speaker 6: Patriots haven't been able to run. And I think it's
- 46:13Speaker 6: a similar thing with their offense, where you know, if
- 46:16Speaker 6: they can get a game where they put it all together,
- 46:18Speaker 6: maybe you'll actually get to see what Alex van Pelt
- 46:21Speaker 6: in this offense is capable of. And there's no guarantee
- 46:23Speaker 6: that it happens. I mean there's seven games left, but
- 46:25Speaker 6: I think that's what they're they're working towards. And I
- 46:28Speaker 6: think if they do do that and you see Drake
- 46:29Speaker 6: cut down on the mistakes, and you start to see
- 46:32Speaker 6: some of the plays, like Paul says, where that was
- 46:34Speaker 6: Matrios play that was a real play, that wasn't really
- 46:36Speaker 6: you know, and all of a sudden, it's like we
- 46:37Speaker 6: had a bunch of those today.
- 46:39Speaker 9: I think that's when people really start to you know,
- 46:40Speaker 9: believe me.
- 46:41Speaker 3: And that's as much, like I said earlier, as much
- 46:44Speaker 3: as I love watching him run around and everything, I
- 46:47Speaker 3: do want to see more plays on schedule the way
- 46:50Speaker 3: they were drawn up.
- 46:52Speaker 12: You know.
- 46:52Speaker 3: Obviously the offensive line has a lot to do with that,
- 46:55Speaker 3: but that's the next step I think for him, we
- 46:58Speaker 3: need to see that, and of course the turnovers. Let's
- 47:01Speaker 3: eliminate the mistakes. But seeing that offense run as it's drawn.
- 47:06Speaker 9: Up, absolutely absolutely.
- 47:08Speaker 6: I mean you've seen a little, like I said, peaks
- 47:11Speaker 6: in here and there, you know, like you've seen it done,
- 47:17Speaker 6: see a bunch, you know, maybe at the end of
- 47:18Speaker 6: the year we get a full game of them, and
- 47:19Speaker 6: it's like, oh my god, this is like it's all
- 47:21Speaker 6: working together, you know, as Jonathan Jones described the rams
- 47:25Speaker 6: off les of you know, all the bootlegs and all
- 47:27Speaker 6: the play actions and the run and the linebackers are
- 47:29Speaker 6: over committing and you know, it just opens.
- 47:31Speaker 9: Up that that whole playbook. So we'll see if the
- 47:33Speaker 9: Patriots are able to get to that point.
- 47:35Speaker 3: Eight five to five past five hundred is the eight
- 47:37Speaker 3: ticket hot line. That's eight five to five pass five hundred.
- 47:40Speaker 3: Let's go to the TPX hotline and we'll start with
- 47:44Speaker 3: Melvin in Tennessee what's up Melvin.
- 47:47Speaker 7: Tyry is going on?
- 47:48Speaker 13: Hey, Melvin, Right, it's funny that we're talking about. See
- 47:54Speaker 13: what we're playing the rams this. I talked about this
- 47:56Speaker 13: not too long ago with Rare, but I think, like
- 47:58Speaker 13: Tomrio Douglas is probably about on the same level different players,
- 48:02Speaker 13: though I'm sure two to hour averages more yards catch,
- 48:07Speaker 13: but I think they're about on the same level, but
- 48:10Speaker 13: as far as how good they are. But two to
- 48:13Speaker 13: hour looks so much better when he's really at that
- 48:16Speaker 13: three row and he hasn't one and two in front
- 48:19Speaker 13: of him. So we got this kind of exposure with
- 48:21Speaker 13: Mario Douglas where he's you know, been able to see
- 48:24Speaker 13: a lot, probably you know, more courage and being probably
- 48:28Speaker 13: a number one in tuish even though he's probably really
- 48:31Speaker 13: not that good. So as soon as we get we
- 48:33Speaker 13: do need two receivers, because it'll be great once to
- 48:36Speaker 13: get those two receivers, we can knot come back down
- 48:39Speaker 13: and hopefully Drake and him and this year or whatever
- 48:43Speaker 13: and been able to establish to get him the same
- 48:45Speaker 13: page so when we need him, he'll be able to
- 48:47Speaker 13: come through for us, kind of be a bankie or
- 48:49Speaker 13: a good receiver'll have something with but just he's you know,
- 48:53Speaker 13: he's just had a position right now or maybe a
- 48:55Speaker 13: little bit out of his role, kind of similar to
- 48:57Speaker 13: what we had with Jacobe. He kind of found his role,
- 49:02Speaker 13: but he was probably a little bit out of his place.
- 49:04Speaker 13: But I hope that you know, it's once we get
- 49:06Speaker 13: to that stage, we kind of have something like Myers
- 49:09Speaker 13: who left before. But I hope that you know that
- 49:13Speaker 13: we'll be able to establish something by the time he
- 49:15Speaker 13: gets a good one and two in front of him,
- 49:17Speaker 13: kind of like Boyd was but Cincinnati a little bit
- 49:20Speaker 13: still those same receivers, but good exposure, good experience right now.
- 49:24Speaker 13: But we need us keep in front of him so
- 49:26Speaker 13: that he can go back in his proper road. But
- 49:29Speaker 13: that's what I got.
- 49:29Speaker 4: I would agree.
- 49:31Speaker 3: Would you guys be into not coming back as a one,
- 49:36Speaker 3: maybe not even as a two. But bringing back to
- 49:37Speaker 3: Kobe Myers next year, No, no, really, why not?
- 49:43Speaker 4: Because I think they need better.
- 49:44Speaker 9: I want speed, I have enough three four fives.
- 49:47Speaker 4: Yea, I need a guy that impacts.
- 49:49Speaker 3: But you still get the other guys.
- 49:52Speaker 4: Oh okay, and then so who goes?
- 49:54Speaker 7: You like him?
- 49:55Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 49:56Speaker 4: So in other words, he replaces Booty Douglas. Yeah, I'm
- 49:59Speaker 4: fine with that. I mean I would. I don't think
- 50:01Speaker 4: you need to do that. I think you just hold
- 50:03Speaker 4: onto Booty and Douglas. You could get rid of Baker, sure,
- 50:07Speaker 4: but like I just feel like you need a couple
- 50:10Speaker 4: of dynamic receivers. Like well, with with the Ram.
- 50:14Speaker 3: You're not thinking strategically. You're not thinking strategically. If we
- 50:18Speaker 3: bring back Myers, we get another listener and his father.
- 50:21Speaker 9: Oh that's true, growing for one for.
- 50:25Speaker 4: The I like Jakobe Myers from the first day we
- 50:27Speaker 4: saw him and as an undrafted rookie, you know, I
- 50:31Speaker 4: remember Megan O'Brien was like, he's gonna end up leading
- 50:34Speaker 4: the team and like receiving, and we were like she
- 50:37Speaker 4: was right, Like we liked him from the start, Like
- 50:40Speaker 4: how you know, he just kept showing up and making plays,
- 50:44Speaker 4: and I think he continued to do that until they
- 50:47Speaker 4: decided that you know, it was a million too much
- 50:49Speaker 4: for them, and he went to the Raiders.
- 50:52Speaker 9: Well, I would hope that after catch, Paul, we should
- 50:58Speaker 9: we deserve.
- 50:58Speaker 4: The deserved a per reception. But one of them was
- 51:01Speaker 4: after the catch, so it became better.
- 51:04Speaker 9: We deserve not to live that one.
- 51:05Speaker 4: That's a great hill that I died on that I
- 51:08Speaker 4: was right. Yeah, so many others that I'm like Monk Cooks.
- 51:11Speaker 6: But no, I I just would hope that Jalen Polk
- 51:14Speaker 6: could develop into that. And maybe that's too far gone
- 51:16Speaker 6: at this point, but.
- 51:17Speaker 4: I think can be a Tyler Boyd kind of guy,
- 51:20Speaker 4: like a physical third down receiver who moves the chains,
- 51:23Speaker 4: doesn't flash. You know, he's not gonna he's not gonna
- 51:26Speaker 4: get you like one hundred and fifty yards when he
- 51:28Speaker 4: has a great game, but he might get you seventy
- 51:31Speaker 4: for seventy four yards and resulting resulting in three or
- 51:35Speaker 4: four conversions. Yeah, he can be that kind of guy.
- 51:39Speaker 9: That's that's where I'm ant.
- 51:40Speaker 6: I just I think my philosophy though, is speed like
- 51:43Speaker 6: just and not. He ran at the fort the combat
- 51:47Speaker 6: like an electric kind of guy, and he doesn't have
- 51:50Speaker 6: to be big.
- 51:50Speaker 9: I just you know, but.
- 51:52Speaker 4: I'd like it to be like not just like Taekwon
- 51:55Speaker 4: Thornton's like speed, but you know, yeah.
- 51:58Speaker 9: I didn't like that Tyreek Hill that's a millionaire.
- 52:01Speaker 4: Gets someone like in aj Brown, you know, or Jamar
- 52:04Speaker 4: Chase that like. And I'm not talking about that talent obviously,
- 52:07Speaker 4: the talent levels through the willset justin know those guys,
- 52:10Speaker 4: But I mean a guy big enough to handle that
- 52:13Speaker 4: load and be fast enough to get the defense on
- 52:17Speaker 4: its heels, you know. Those kinds of players, they they
- 52:20Speaker 4: I think they badly need.
- 52:21Speaker 6: That's why when we talk about Travis Hunter, it's like
- 52:24Speaker 6: I can't dismiss him because that's the kind of athlete
- 52:27Speaker 6: that you want, even if he's gonna play defense, you know.
- 52:30Speaker 4: But yeah, I think it's gonna be. Really I think
- 52:32Speaker 4: this is one of the most interesting draft guys coming
- 52:35Speaker 4: out in recent memory, just because of where he fits
- 52:39Speaker 4: and hard everybody thinks it's a better corner, right yeah, yeah,
- 52:42Speaker 4: And then how does that factor into his financials?
- 52:45Speaker 7: Right?
- 52:46Speaker 3: Todd's Todd, Todd Todd. He's not there all right. Time

- 55:24Speaker 15: now it's next for residential deliberately only.
- 55:28Speaker 8: Thank A lot of you said from this week hand
- 55:30Speaker 8: of sets of urgency to drug message, how do you
- 55:34Speaker 8: take that? And we kind of talked about kind of
- 55:36Speaker 8: what you said to your offense after practice one one.
- 55:39Speaker 4: Day last week. What kind of things go through your mind?
- 55:41Speaker 8: Is to try to get back to back wins for
- 55:43Speaker 8: the first time.
- 55:44Speaker 7: Yeah, it's build on it from last week.
- 55:45Speaker 16: I think, you know, a big winning in Chicago and
- 55:46Speaker 16: a you know, way away game and in a big
- 55:49Speaker 16: time atmosphere. Remember the time I was yelling set Hut
- 55:53Speaker 16: for the snap a few times on fourth down before
- 55:55Speaker 16: I called the time out and they couldn't hear me. So,
- 55:57Speaker 16: you know, a big win from there, and just build
- 55:58Speaker 16: on it, like I said, Like I said, since urgency,
- 56:00Speaker 16: what what coast Mayo's appreciing. I think it starts with
- 56:03Speaker 16: cleaning up, you know from from the game Sunday. Clean
- 56:05Speaker 16: up some little things that I think we could have
- 56:07Speaker 16: ended up being a bigger, bigger margin victory for us,
- 56:09Speaker 16: you know, especially offensively. Defense did about all they could
- 56:12Speaker 16: scoring in the red zone, and obviously my turnover. Gotta
- 56:16Speaker 16: just keep on, you know, these little things that can
- 56:18Speaker 16: kind of help build the complementary football that Coach Mayo's
- 56:22Speaker 16: preaching about. So I think, you know, got another chance
- 56:24Speaker 16: here at home, and l has come off a short week,
- 56:26Speaker 16: so I gotta he'll prepare for them, and they're good
- 56:28Speaker 16: upfront on defense, so I'm preparing for them.
- 56:30Speaker 7: How important is I'm spent?
- 56:32Speaker 14: Have Alex Beth all that to you this season?
- 56:36Speaker 7: Yeah, it's been huge.
- 56:36Speaker 16: I think he's just a confidence booster for a quarterback,
- 56:38Speaker 16: you know's a you love playing for the office quarter
- 56:41Speaker 16: like a v P. You know, he's he's positive and
- 56:43Speaker 16: also but at the same time, we'll coach you hard.
- 56:44Speaker 7: You know, he's done it.
- 56:44Speaker 16: He's played quarterback, played quarterback in this league and at
- 56:47Speaker 16: a high level. So he knows what's you know, what
- 56:49Speaker 16: needs to be done and in the task he knows
- 56:51Speaker 16: the tall task as well, which is pretty you know,
- 56:54Speaker 16: him and TC both kind of have the quarterback minds
- 56:56Speaker 16: and coach McAdoo, So those those three are I know
- 57:00Speaker 16: it's like how hard it is to play quarterback in
- 57:01Speaker 16: this league and give a lot of leeway, but at
- 57:03Speaker 16: the same time, you know what's you needs to be done. Yeah,
- 57:12Speaker 16: I think I think I'm I'm working towards that. I
- 57:14Speaker 16: think that's more of a perfective thing. I wouldn't say,
- 57:16Speaker 16: you know me, I'm just trying to build on every day.
- 57:18Speaker 16: I think, you know, it's more of a thing for
- 57:20Speaker 16: the outside crowd to say. I think I'll come a
- 57:22Speaker 16: long way within the system of learning the system, knowing
- 57:24Speaker 16: what to do, knowing where guys line up, getting run
- 57:27Speaker 16: in and out of run checks and and past things.
- 57:30Speaker 16: So I think, but I wouldn't say, better to say
- 57:32Speaker 16: more comfortable. I think, you know, a lot of stuff
- 57:34Speaker 16: is coming to tie together. You know, I think still
- 57:37Speaker 16: a lot of the same players, and you know, still
- 57:39Speaker 16: the same player and the same players that you have
- 57:40Speaker 16: made in college making today. So I think just building on,
- 57:43Speaker 16: get more comfortable in this offense and just growing as
- 57:46Speaker 16: a you know, A young young young adult.
- 57:51Speaker 11: Asked the question.
- 57:55Speaker 13: You were talking about.
- 57:56Speaker 1: A d P said, like when the film comes up
- 57:58Speaker 1: with him in Pittsburgh.
- 58:01Speaker 7: Yes, cool.
- 58:01Speaker 16: We saw some of his guitar fakes and his play
- 58:03Speaker 16: action and a lot inner center and he.
- 58:05Speaker 7: Threw it well so we could throw the football.
- 58:07Speaker 16: So it's it's cool seeing he doesn't throw very much
- 58:09Speaker 16: anymore that he's like throwing that one time, you know,
- 58:11Speaker 16: this season, but seeing him you know, do some of
- 58:13Speaker 16: the same actions or you know, throwing the same concepts,
- 58:16Speaker 16: it's pretty cool. And it's pretty neat, you know, sitting
- 58:18Speaker 16: out there on some old you know, granny film, so.
- 58:22Speaker 15: Drink with the support, but like Kobe potential to cover
- 58:25Speaker 15: as the starter and wasn't at all difficult to find
- 58:27Speaker 15: when to speak up as a leader, knowing he's still.
- 58:30Speaker 7: A captain and so stepping out. Yeah, that's a good question,
- 58:32Speaker 7: you know.
- 58:32Speaker 16: I think Jacobe is still, you know, a big time
- 58:34Speaker 16: leader on this football team, you know, especially he's in
- 58:36Speaker 16: my ear and I don't know if you'll see him
- 58:38Speaker 16: on the sidelines, but it's basically like he's he's playing
- 58:40Speaker 16: the game over there. He's yelling and yelling at me,
- 58:42Speaker 16: you owing up the rest on the sideline. So he's
- 58:44Speaker 16: very animated and that's his personality. I think everybody respects
- 58:46Speaker 16: him on this football team, has a lot of respect
- 58:49Speaker 16: and see what he did in the Jets game. I
- 58:50Speaker 16: think that even just you know, raised the ball of
- 58:52Speaker 16: him coming in after you know, me being the starter
- 58:54Speaker 16: and him coming in and getting a big time win
- 58:56Speaker 16: at home. I think those guys just respect him. And
- 58:58Speaker 16: he's been, uh, he's been a lot to me of
- 59:00Speaker 16: some mentor and and just trying to learn everything I can.
- 59:04Speaker 16: He's probably tired of me asking questions, but I think
- 59:06Speaker 16: he enjoys and we enjoy, you know, being the same
- 59:08Speaker 16: room together.
- 59:09Speaker 4: The virtual reality headsets, we're a bit of a storyline
- 59:11Speaker 4: this summer.
- 59:12Speaker 9: Was curious how much did those help you before you
- 59:14Speaker 9: actually got to play?
- 59:15Speaker 4: Do you still use them now that you're actually out
- 59:17Speaker 4: on the feet.
- 59:17Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 59:18Speaker 16: They give just some of the base concepts and some
- 59:20Speaker 16: of the concepts of carrying weekend week out, a little
- 59:22Speaker 16: bit of the two minute stuff we have in some
- 59:24Speaker 16: of the the VR. But the VRS, you know, been
- 59:26Speaker 16: a nice edition. Thankful to the Pages of Regulation for
- 59:29Speaker 16: forgetting that and using that. And I think it's some
- 59:32Speaker 16: you know, every week just going back to the base
- 59:33Speaker 16: stuff and sometimes we can throw in you know, the
- 59:35Speaker 16: different team or the stadium we're playing in and get
- 59:37Speaker 16: different looks.
- 59:38Speaker 7: So it's pretty cool. He learned about yourself over the past,
- 59:42Speaker 7: the five starts that.
- 59:43Speaker 16: You learn about myself, I think just battling back from
- 59:50Speaker 16: university University and times in the game and times in
- 59:53Speaker 16: this season. You know, starting the season obviously you plan
- 59:56Speaker 16: on you wanting to be the starter and handle University,
- 59:59Speaker 16: you know, throughout the locker room or throughout, uh, just
- 1:00:02Speaker 16: being on the football team and then the anniversity when
- 1:00:04Speaker 16: I'm you're actually in there playing, So just channeling times,
- 1:00:06Speaker 16: you know, difficult times and and bouncing back and no
- 1:00:08Speaker 16: one at this position that you know, these guys look
- 1:00:11Speaker 16: to me and and know that you know, kind of
- 1:00:13Speaker 16: get a you know, keep a keep a up kind
- 1:00:16Speaker 16: of upbeat mindset and up your personality because these guys
- 1:00:20Speaker 16: you'll follow me and listen to me, and you'll respect me.
- 1:00:24Speaker 3: All right.
- 1:00:24Speaker 8: I know you mentioned you know as a football fan,
- 1:00:27Speaker 8: you know, getting the face guys like Aaron Rodgers.
- 1:00:29Speaker 5: This week he gets to face Matthew Stafford.
- 1:00:31Speaker 16: What is uh is he somebody you followed as a.
- 1:00:34Speaker 7: Kid, and what is it against? Yeah, it is you
- 1:00:37Speaker 7: know Matt Stafford.
- 1:00:38Speaker 16: I think you know back in the days watching lines,
- 1:00:39Speaker 16: if you know, always saw him playing on Thanksgiving and
- 1:00:41Speaker 16: seeing him play is is pretty cool with Thanksgiving coming up.
- 1:00:44Speaker 16: So anytime you play a Super Bowl winning quarterback and
- 1:00:48Speaker 16: you know, guy in this the league has done a long.
- 1:00:49Speaker 7: Time and play at a high level, it's cool to watch.
- 1:00:51Speaker 16: I think I'll definitely take a moment and always try
- 1:00:53Speaker 16: to watch them up and see what they do or
- 1:00:55Speaker 16: see how he's throwing it. I think that's kind of
- 1:00:56Speaker 16: the coolest thing that I try to do. And other
- 1:00:59Speaker 16: than that, just hopefully get a chance to meet him
- 1:01:00Speaker 16: and you know, respect his game and you hope that
- 1:01:03Speaker 16: you get a chance to come out with a win
- 1:01:04Speaker 16: against you big time quarterback like that.
- 1:01:05Speaker 7: It's always a pretty cool feeling.
- 1:01:07Speaker 10: Sure, sliding and ask you like a plant out of
- 1:01:11Speaker 10: the sas you know, he joked that there might be.
- 1:01:13Speaker 3: A sliding period in practice today.
- 1:01:15Speaker 5: Has that been conveyed you often, like the.
- 1:01:17Speaker 3: Coaching sap in terms just working on sliding and things
- 1:01:19Speaker 3: like that.
- 1:01:20Speaker 16: Yeah, I wouldn't say working on you know, I play
- 1:01:23Speaker 16: baseball growing up, and you know if I've slid, and
- 1:01:25Speaker 16: one time slid against the Jets, you know got hit
- 1:01:27Speaker 16: in the head.
- 1:01:28Speaker 7: So I think there's times and places for it.
- 1:01:30Speaker 16: I think I definitely do a good better job of
- 1:01:31Speaker 16: getting down taking care of my body, and and I
- 1:01:33Speaker 16: know that I took one and you know the Bears
- 1:01:35Speaker 16: game that was that was done with the kind of
- 1:01:36Speaker 16: third quarter, So you know, I'm mindful of it, and
- 1:01:39Speaker 16: the coaches are doing good job.
- 1:01:40Speaker 7: TC does guys job emphasizing it.
- 1:01:43Speaker 16: So I think it's uh, you know, it's kind of
- 1:01:45Speaker 16: different when you're between the lines and you're trying to
- 1:01:48Speaker 16: show your competitive side, so you.
- 1:01:49Speaker 4: Can show a lot of frustration. I guess i'd say
- 1:01:52Speaker 4: you feel is not letting your emotions because you were
- 1:01:55Speaker 4: not showing emotions something it comes naturally or is that
- 1:01:58Speaker 4: something new for are talking about?
- 1:02:00Speaker 16: Yeah, things come naturally, you know. Growing up, I think
- 1:02:03Speaker 16: I was always kind of you know, even keel mindset.
- 1:02:05Speaker 16: And at the same time, I think, you know, showing
- 1:02:07Speaker 16: frustration at times can be good, can be good for
- 1:02:09Speaker 16: the offense, and can kind of fire those guys up,
- 1:02:11Speaker 16: So kind of mixing and kind of feeling that out
- 1:02:14Speaker 16: of you know, when I could use the expressity in practice,
- 1:02:16Speaker 16: I think getting frustrated and and showing hey, you know,
- 1:02:19Speaker 16: we pick it up is a is sometimes can be good.
- 1:02:21Speaker 16: So I think you're just bouncing that aspect of it
- 1:02:23Speaker 16: and at the same time, you know, round those guys
- 1:02:25Speaker 16: of pumping them up, and that's everybody you know feels
- 1:02:28Speaker 16: good when you get pumped up.
- 1:02:29Speaker 6: So's lying people have to talk about having a short
- 1:02:32Speaker 6: memory of being fans specials from the games.
- 1:02:34Speaker 13: If you agree and you saw the advantage to keep
- 1:02:37Speaker 13: the number.
- 1:02:38Speaker 16: Short, yeah, short memory, that's it, you know. I think
- 1:02:40Speaker 16: it's one of the biggest things for playing quarterback in
- 1:02:41Speaker 16: this league. I think you see you know this past Sunday.
- 1:02:44Speaker 16: You know Jared Goff, I think you know his game,
- 1:02:47Speaker 16: you just turnovers and what he does to come back
- 1:02:49Speaker 16: and leave that football team to win. I think there's
- 1:02:51Speaker 16: so many times throughout the season you see you know,
- 1:02:53Speaker 16: quarterbacks especially you know at this level that are you
- 1:02:55Speaker 16: handle a university.
- 1:02:56Speaker 7: And you know, it's tough. It's tough.
- 1:02:58Speaker 16: It's a tough feeling going out there after throwing an
- 1:03:00Speaker 16: interception and dragging back out there, you know, throwing it again.
- 1:03:03Speaker 16: So I think it's something that it's kind of you know,
- 1:03:06Speaker 16: brushed under the rug when you're you're facing you know,
- 1:03:09Speaker 16: good defense and you go out there and make a
- 1:03:11Speaker 16: bad play and have to run back out there and
- 1:03:14Speaker 16: facing those same guys and have to throw it again.
- 1:03:16Speaker 16: So I think it's definitely having a short memory, like
- 1:03:17Speaker 16: you said, and just trusting those guys around you. I
- 1:03:20Speaker 16: think our team does a good job and especially the
- 1:03:22Speaker 16: veterans and Jakobe has been great on the sideline with
- 1:03:25Speaker 16: you know plays, and I think just bouncing back and
- 1:03:27Speaker 16: seeing how you bounce back. The team released the uh
- 1:03:31Speaker 16: miked up piece few from the game the other day,
- 1:03:34Speaker 16: and a significant percentage of it was you basically pumping
- 1:03:37Speaker 16: up teammates encouraging them during the game.
- 1:03:39Speaker 4: Why is that important for you to sort of take
- 1:03:41Speaker 4: time during during game day.
- 1:03:43Speaker 7: To make sure that you're doing.
- 1:03:44Speaker 13: That for your teammates.
- 1:03:44Speaker 16: Yeah, I think, you know, pregames, kind of checking those
- 1:03:47Speaker 16: chick in on the guys, see how they're feeling. I
- 1:03:49Speaker 16: think I think I was saying a lot of the
- 1:03:51Speaker 16: same things over and over, you know, and the miked
- 1:03:53Speaker 16: up so I kind of keep it simple and and
- 1:03:56Speaker 16: don't try to, you know, bug me by too much
- 1:03:57Speaker 16: because everybody's kind of got their own thing on game day.
- 1:03:59Speaker 16: But uh, yeah, I think pumping them up, like I said,
- 1:04:01Speaker 16: you know, everybody feels feels good when you say, hey,
- 1:04:04Speaker 16: you know, let's go or hey, nice play, or hey,
- 1:04:06Speaker 16: great job up front. I think little things like that
- 1:04:08Speaker 16: can go a long way. And being the leader on
- 1:04:10Speaker 16: the offense and and pumping those guys up to keep.
- 1:04:13Speaker 7: With your with your alignement. Again, they caught you in
- 1:04:16Speaker 7: the locker group saying, let's go get something to eat tomorrow.
- 1:04:18Speaker 16: G yeah when somebody, uh we got somebody, We'll say Wednesday,
- 1:04:21Speaker 16: we have some needy Monday, so.
- 1:04:24Speaker 7: Uh yeah, we went somewhere. Some are good, thank you.
- 1:04:32Speaker 4: And now great moments in.
- 1:04:36Speaker 3: History. Steve wants to know why Eric, do you hate emailers?
- 1:04:40Speaker 4: Does he hate everybody?
- 1:04:41Speaker 6: He's very hate bad emailers.
- 1:04:44Speaker 9: See it doesn't like the weather. See it's raining, raining
- 1:04:47Speaker 9: makes ericcause that boy.
- 1:04:48Speaker 4: I have to admit the fact that I had to
- 1:04:50Speaker 4: put jeans on this morning really got me mad. It's
- 1:04:54Speaker 4: like August and I'm.
- 1:04:55Speaker 9: Wearing long pants staring at the khaki shorts of sad
- 1:04:58Speaker 9: not today.
- 1:04:59Speaker 4: Good thing. I wo nied too, it was cold. And
- 1:05:00Speaker 4: Paul wears mom jeans by the way, well, my jeans.
- 1:05:03Speaker 3: Are like cool, they're so old, yeah.
- 1:05:06Speaker 4: And there's so worn acid washed rip jeans. They're not
- 1:05:09Speaker 4: they're not even acid washed. They just look at they're
- 1:05:11Speaker 4: like you don't have like the.
- 1:05:15Speaker 3: Belot shut up.
- 1:05:16Speaker 9: I thought he was gonna wear like tight tape.
- 1:05:18Speaker 4: That would be I don't do. I don't do the
- 1:05:20Speaker 4: euro jeans for obvious reasons.
- 1:05:24Speaker 3: That's another great moment. All right back here Patriots on
- 1:05:30Speaker 3: filtered eight five five past five hundred is the A
- 1:05:32Speaker 3: Sticket Hotline web radio at Patriots dot com, podcasts at
- 1:05:38Speaker 3: Patriots dot com.
- 1:05:39Speaker 4: You haven't made that mistake very long.
- 1:05:40Speaker 3: No, I haven't.
- 1:05:41Speaker 4: But you're a bully. You you mean to me on
- 1:05:45Speaker 4: that's one of my attire. Quite often I do, and
- 1:05:48Speaker 4: usually just this shirt, well at least, but now it's
- 1:05:50Speaker 4: like I'm going back here, Paul was mom jeans and
- 1:05:53Speaker 4: bell bottoms.
- 1:05:54Speaker 3: Like, yeah, they're old fashion jean.
- 1:05:56Speaker 4: You mean you get mean well that you were old
- 1:05:58Speaker 4: fashioned about these?
- 1:05:59Speaker 3: Well those are better, but back then you were wearing
- 1:06:02Speaker 3: jeans that were like twenty years old.
- 1:06:04Speaker 4: That that's probably gonna be on tomorrow. Like I have
- 1:06:07Speaker 4: like four or five pairs of jeans. I rotate them
- 1:06:09Speaker 4: every day, and you're like your weekend comes out with.
- 1:06:11Speaker 3: You're a media personality, Poul, you need to like I get.
- 1:06:15Speaker 4: Rid of the hood in the media or a person get.
- 1:06:17Speaker 3: Rid of the hoods and you know, wear like grown
- 1:06:19Speaker 3: up clothes.
- 1:06:21Speaker 4: You see, he's mean, he's a bully.
- 1:06:23Speaker 6: I know, well he he's like a running back. He
- 1:06:26Speaker 6: sees the whole open up and he just goes right
- 1:06:28Speaker 6: before it really does.
- 1:06:30Speaker 4: This is after I gave him a compliment because I
- 1:06:32Speaker 4: told him remember an argument about the offensive line late
- 1:06:35Speaker 4: in the show, and I came to the realization that
- 1:06:39Speaker 4: he was kind of right. No, I don't know. That's
- 1:06:42Speaker 4: that's the realization is that I was being a hypocrite.
- 1:06:46Speaker 9: So your back eye, I said, no, need to draft
- 1:06:48Speaker 9: the tackle next year.
- 1:06:50Speaker 4: I'm kind of Fred's kind of convincing me that they
- 1:06:52Speaker 4: don't mose well, I'm not.
- 1:06:55Speaker 3: No, no, no, it's not what I'm saying.
- 1:06:56Speaker 4: See now he's now, yeah, it's time for you and
- 1:07:01Speaker 4: I get on him. Never so I said to him.
- 1:07:04Speaker 4: It was one of the only times that Fred and
- 1:07:07Speaker 4: I have been in an argument, and I was thinking
- 1:07:09Speaker 4: to myself, I'm losing. I'm losing this argument. He's right,
- 1:07:13Speaker 4: I'm wrong.
- 1:07:13Speaker 3: Well smart, He's also thinking about the arguments he's going
- 1:07:18Speaker 3: to have to have next off season, so he knew
- 1:07:21Speaker 3: that he had to come around them.
- 1:07:23Speaker 4: I'm just telling you you like made very valid points
- 1:07:28Speaker 4: in that argument, and I was wrong. You did it
- 1:07:31Speaker 4: like you don't have to like, He's right, you don't
- 1:07:33Speaker 4: have to have an elite player, And I wasn't necessarily
- 1:07:37Speaker 4: meaning like like you had to have an elite the
- 1:07:39Speaker 4: best of the best. But you know, him talking about
- 1:07:42Speaker 4: Matt Light was like, yeah, I mean I don't think
- 1:07:44Speaker 4: Matt Light would make a difference on this team. But
- 1:07:47Speaker 4: Matt Light and you know, two really good receivers, and
- 1:07:53Speaker 4: you know, a better guard to plug in, you know,
- 1:07:57Speaker 4: like a Steven Neil. You know, all of a sudden,
- 1:08:00Speaker 4: you've upgraded four spots on your offense. Your quarterback is
- 1:08:05Speaker 4: as good as we think he is. You should have
- 1:08:06Speaker 4: a much better offense next year.
- 1:08:08Speaker 3: I mean, I'm like I was telling Paul before you
- 1:08:11Speaker 3: got here, I'd rather have five good guys, five good linemen,
- 1:08:15Speaker 3: than one or two great and then the rest stink.
- 1:08:18Speaker 3: Because I think five good guys on a line in
- 1:08:21Speaker 3: today's NFL equals an elite line.
- 1:08:24Speaker 9: Yeah, I would agree with that.
- 1:08:25Speaker 3: If you have good coaches, that's what. If you have
- 1:08:28Speaker 3: good coaches.
- 1:08:29Speaker 6: That's what I think was the value of Scarnakia, where
- 1:08:31Speaker 6: I'm sure you guys felt like every year, no matter
- 1:08:33Speaker 6: who the line.
- 1:08:34Speaker 9: I mean, maybe this is where your take.
- 1:08:35Speaker 6: Was developed, Paul, was that every year they had Scarnekia
- 1:08:38Speaker 6: and they were able to just kind of make chicken
- 1:08:40Speaker 6: salad every.
- 1:08:41Speaker 4: The Chiefs have I would say, three really good linemen
- 1:08:44Speaker 4: and two social linemen. Yea, and they're elite. Yeah, the
- 1:08:49Speaker 4: team is elite. Now the Lions have five really good linemen.
- 1:08:54Speaker 4: I mean they have I mean, Penna suel is elite. Yeah,
- 1:08:57Speaker 4: but they have I mean when they're healthy. I know
- 1:08:59Speaker 4: they've been missing some guys. I think Ragno's out right
- 1:09:02Speaker 4: the center, he's been hurt. But they have five pretty
- 1:09:06Speaker 4: good linemen. Yeah, but that's an elite line.
- 1:09:08Speaker 3: We talk about, you know, bringing in more talent next year.
- 1:09:12Speaker 3: But I think one of the most important things this
- 1:09:15Speaker 3: team is going to have to do in the off
- 1:09:16Speaker 3: season is evaluate their assistant coaches. You know, is Scott
- 1:09:21Speaker 3: Peters a good offensive line coach? I don't know. It's
- 1:09:24Speaker 3: he's never been the guy yet. You know, in his career,
- 1:09:27Speaker 3: he's always been an assistant. This is the first time
- 1:09:29Speaker 3: he's been the offensive line coach. Maybe he's great, I
- 1:09:33Speaker 3: don't know, but that the evaluation of these positional coaches
- 1:09:37Speaker 3: is right up there with everything else they need to
- 1:09:40Speaker 3: do this offseason. And maybe Scott Peters is great and
- 1:09:44Speaker 3: that's though after the evaluation, they'll figure that out and
- 1:09:48Speaker 3: he'll stay on and you know, we'll get those five
- 1:09:51Speaker 3: good linemen and he'll coach him up and we'll be fine.
- 1:09:54Speaker 3: But I don't know that, you know, only only they
- 1:09:57Speaker 3: really know the Elliott Wolson everybody else inside the team.
- 1:10:01Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean, and how much are you willing to
- 1:10:03Speaker 6: look at the extenuating circumstances around each like I mean,
- 1:10:06Speaker 6: it's his first year coaching, They're gonna have some mistakes,
- 1:10:09Speaker 6: a lot of injuries.
- 1:10:10Speaker 4: I mean, you know, I.
- 1:10:11Speaker 6: Think they know on the inside though, while this player
- 1:10:14Speaker 6: we felt like have potential.
- 1:10:15Speaker 9: And you brought it out of him or you didn't.
- 1:10:17Speaker 6: You know, those are the things internally that they know
- 1:10:19Speaker 6: that we don't really get to see.
- 1:10:20Speaker 3: We don't know that.
- 1:10:21Speaker 6: We just see the overall product, which last week felt
- 1:10:23Speaker 6: like they were welcome, which like they had a well
- 1:10:26Speaker 6: coach game, so they got to continue to do that stuff.
- 1:10:29Speaker 6: But I agree, it'll be interesting evaluation. There's so many
- 1:10:31Speaker 6: assistant coaches though, it's you know, maybe do they decide
- 1:10:34Speaker 6: too many, let's pull back a little bit, or you know,
- 1:10:36Speaker 6: like you said, they maybe they shuffle some guys out.
- 1:10:39Speaker 3: Let's get to some emails at podcasts at Patriots dot com.

- 1:11:27Speaker 3: Chance is emailing from Syracuse. He says, I have two
- 1:11:31Speaker 3: questions for you guys, the first being a hypothetical. If
- 1:11:35Speaker 3: Stafford played for the Packers and Rogers played for Detroit,
- 1:11:40Speaker 3: do you think Stafford would have won more less or
- 1:11:42Speaker 3: the same amount of Super Bowls that Rogers did, which
- 1:11:45Speaker 3: is one.
- 1:11:47Speaker 4: I think you were on more.
- 1:11:49Speaker 3: You think Stafford would have won more?
- 1:11:51Speaker 4: You know what I think?
- 1:11:52Speaker 3: Yeah, I know you like Stafford.
- 1:11:53Speaker 4: I should probably recuse myself from this conversation. I'm not
- 1:11:56Speaker 4: I'm not unbiased.
- 1:11:57Speaker 3: And would Rogers have done anything one of the same
- 1:12:00Speaker 3: as Rogers playing for the Packers and so? And you
- 1:12:04Speaker 3: don't think Rogers would have elevated Detroit at that time?
- 1:12:07Speaker 4: I think, but I don't think he would have made
- 1:12:09Speaker 4: them consistently great. Yeah, it would have been like Stafford.
- 1:12:13Speaker 4: Stafford elevated the team, he just didn't do it consistently.
- 1:12:17Speaker 4: This is interesting thede.
- 1:12:19Speaker 9: Rogers with Calvin Johnson.
- 1:12:20Speaker 3: That's that's kind of Second question.
- 1:12:23Speaker 4: Yeah, I think Rodgers probably would have been better. I mean,
- 1:12:25Speaker 4: Rodgers is better than Stafford. I mean, as much as
- 1:12:27Speaker 4: I hate one and love the other, Rodgers is a
- 1:12:29Speaker 4: better player.
- 1:12:30Speaker 3: Second questions for me. When Stafford asked the Lions to
- 1:12:33Speaker 3: trade him, he apparently said anywhere but the Patriots. If
- 1:12:37Speaker 3: that report is true, would you consider this a Patriots
- 1:12:40Speaker 3: revenge game?
- 1:12:42Speaker 4: So the reason for that was Matt Patricia, You know that, right, No.
- 1:12:46Speaker 3: I didn't know that.
- 1:12:47Speaker 4: Yeah, that's why he's out of Detroit. The whole Matt
- 1:12:52Speaker 4: Patricia thing is all because, of course, of course, like
- 1:12:55Speaker 4: that's the brunt of his sort of no pushback for
- 1:12:59Speaker 4: the Patriots.
- 1:12:59Speaker 3: No, why would we want revenge on that?
- 1:13:02Speaker 4: No, I mean you can use it as revenge. I mean,
- 1:13:04Speaker 4: you use anything for revenge. I mean, god knows, Brodney
- 1:13:06Speaker 4: Harrison and William Ginnis made it up all the time.
- 1:13:08Speaker 3: I mean, Matt Patricia is not here.
- 1:13:10Speaker 6: But that was a I'm wait, that was twenty off
- 1:13:13Speaker 6: season or twenty twenty one before twenty twenty.
- 1:13:15Speaker 4: If it was after the twenty season, right, yeah.
- 1:13:18Speaker 3: Yeah, it was right after Patricia left.
- 1:13:20Speaker 4: And don't hold me to this. I might maybe I'm
- 1:13:24Speaker 4: missing some of the details. I had always gotten the
- 1:13:26Speaker 4: impression that the impetus for that thought process from Stafford
- 1:13:31Speaker 4: toward the Patriots was because Patricia was always pounding the
- 1:13:36Speaker 4: Lions with this is how you win. The Patriots do this,
- 1:13:39Speaker 4: the Patriots do this, And it was all about well,
- 1:13:42Speaker 4: he actually how much you guys suck and how much
- 1:13:45Speaker 4: the Patriots invented football. And I think it rubbed a
- 1:13:48Speaker 4: lot of people the wrong way and I think that's
- 1:13:50Speaker 4: what it's about. Yeah, I might be completely missing that, Oh,
- 1:13:55Speaker 4: but that's what I've always That's how it was explained
- 1:13:58Speaker 4: to me. So that's how I always thought it went down.
- 1:14:00Speaker 3: Yep.
- 1:14:02Speaker 4: And yes, I think it was after the twenty season
- 1:14:04Speaker 4: is when he demanded the trade, because that twenty game
- 1:14:06Speaker 4: that the Patriots played the Rams, jery Goff was still
- 1:14:09Speaker 4: with the Rams that twenty four to three Thursday night game.
- 1:14:12Speaker 3: Yeahpi and Fresno appreciate Fred's comments that many of the
- 1:14:16Speaker 3: show's listeners weren't PFW listeners. The poor soul's tuning in
- 1:14:20Speaker 3: now will never know the depth of depravity in heights
- 1:14:24Speaker 3: of greatness previously achieved. I think it would be fun
- 1:14:27Speaker 3: for you to put together an infographic for the newsletter,
- 1:14:29Speaker 3: visualizing the history of the show, the paper, and most
- 1:14:33Speaker 3: especially the personnel over the years. You'll have to blur
- 1:14:36Speaker 3: the face of he who shall not be named. Yes,
- 1:14:38Speaker 3: that's make him look like so on. But but here's
- 1:14:42Speaker 3: but here's the thing I'm gonna tell you too. While
- 1:14:44Speaker 3: we're sitting here, I want you guys contributing. I don't
- 1:14:48Speaker 3: want it to be all alex so like something like this.
- 1:14:51Speaker 4: I pretty much provide all the content every week.
- 1:14:54Speaker 3: Well okay, great, no, but something like this if you
- 1:14:57Speaker 3: want it too, every joke if you yeah, I know.
- 1:15:00Speaker 3: But but if you wanted to, like do a timeline, Paul,
- 1:15:02Speaker 3: go ahead, do that for the newsletter.
- 1:15:05Speaker 6: I think that'd be really fun of the personnel, like
- 1:15:07Speaker 6: just a like a visual, right.
- 1:15:08Speaker 3: Like when when was the first swear said on you know?
- 1:15:13Speaker 4: Yes you do, like when I know that, Like I
- 1:15:16Speaker 4: swore on the radio.
- 1:15:17Speaker 3: I know that, Yes, that was the first time there
- 1:15:19Speaker 3: was a swear in this show.
- 1:15:20Speaker 4: I don't think so. Oh yeah, I don't think I
- 1:15:23Speaker 4: was the first to swear. Well, the first F bomb
- 1:15:25Speaker 4: for sure, probably the loudest.
- 1:15:28Speaker 3: And then the time that Fred kicked Andy off the show.
- 1:15:32Speaker 3: I wasn't there. I can help you.
- 1:15:35Speaker 4: I was at the super Bowl. I could give you
- 1:15:37Speaker 4: a timeline that was at the super.
- 1:15:38Speaker 9: Bowl before the great moments first super Bowl.
- 1:15:41Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:15:41Speaker 6: But it's also like a good visual of like, you know,
- 1:15:43Speaker 6: the first show, maybe just your heads like with headphones on,
- 1:15:47Speaker 6: and this was PFW in progress and then you know,
- 1:15:49Speaker 6: Andy's head pops in down the timeline and then ericson
- 1:15:53Speaker 6: you know, slowly show how it was made.
- 1:15:55Speaker 9: I think that's a good idea.
- 1:15:56Speaker 3: How he went from like chromagnum men to you know, yeah,
- 1:16:02Speaker 3: people walking on two feet.
- 1:16:03Speaker 6: It'd be better if we could get old pictures of
- 1:16:04Speaker 6: you guys too, like the pictures from ninety nine.
- 1:16:07Speaker 4: I've looked like this, like like high school graduation.
- 1:16:12Speaker 9: Wow, how did you deal with that? Just beating him
- 1:16:16Speaker 9: off with a stick, Yes, Warren, did you get that?
- 1:16:20Speaker 4: White man?
- 1:16:22Speaker 3: Warren says that to pay raise for a car and news.
- 1:16:28Speaker 6: Be cool if you came in there with like some
- 1:16:30Speaker 6: diesel jeans some one day really tight, like you got.
- 1:16:32Speaker 4: A lot of like a difference between I mean young people.
- 1:16:37Speaker 4: I definitely see like like I said that in the clip,
- 1:16:39Speaker 4: the euro jeans, like I don't like the tight jeans.
- 1:16:43Speaker 9: You were like low ones to like ride low.
- 1:16:45Speaker 4: But I wear normal jeans like some of the Levis
- 1:16:49Speaker 4: some of the older men.
- 1:16:50Speaker 3: Like when I say older, like over forty, who wear
- 1:16:53Speaker 3: the real tight jeans look absolutely ridiculous and you.
- 1:16:56Speaker 4: And evidently that's what you're clamoring for me, so you.
- 1:16:59Speaker 3: Can make I'm not tight tight jeans, but just modern jeans.
- 1:17:02Speaker 4: Modern yeah, like Levi's what's the matter with.
- 1:17:06Speaker 9: Levi's Yeah, I don't know these are my old man.
- 1:17:09Speaker 3: Levi's are fine. The ivis not the kind of real
- 1:17:13Speaker 3: baggy ones.
- 1:17:14Speaker 4: Well, they're well to my own woman right now, right, you.
- 1:17:20Speaker 3: Need to get new clothes.
- 1:17:21Speaker 9: There you go, let's work a makeover in Yeah, you know,
- 1:17:25Speaker 9: we'll put Paul on.
- 1:17:26Speaker 4: That qu That'll be the next thing in the newsletter.
- 1:17:28Speaker 4: The whole newsletter is just let's dump on Paul.
- 1:17:31Speaker 3: Oh oh. So the last newsletter headline was me going
- 1:17:34Speaker 3: to the bathroom. But he's been playing because it's all
- 1:17:36Speaker 3: about it.
- 1:17:37Speaker 4: That is true. There's two all the contents had an
- 1:17:43Speaker 4: accident or not to step up your game?
- 1:17:45Speaker 9: Right?
- 1:17:48Speaker 3: Pull on your way? Yeah?
- 1:17:50Speaker 9: Can I get a ruling?
- 1:17:51Speaker 3: Know?
- 1:17:51Speaker 9: I got LL Bean jeans on right now?
- 1:17:53Speaker 7: Is that?
- 1:17:53Speaker 3: Is that all depends on which one? See? I have
- 1:17:55Speaker 3: LL being gans on too, but they're the signature ones,
- 1:17:59Speaker 3: so they're not the they're not the classy baggy one.
- 1:18:01Speaker 9: Right.
- 1:18:02Speaker 4: I can't even afford a car, and I'm supposed to
- 1:18:04Speaker 4: get like LL Bean jeans. Not that for my signature one.
- 1:18:08Speaker 3: They're under one hundred dollars.
- 1:18:12Speaker 4: You think I'm spending one hundred dollars on my jeans?
- 1:18:14Speaker 3: Listen, that's what closed costs.
- 1:18:17Speaker 4: These days. Not jeans, not not to they're not they
- 1:18:21Speaker 4: don't go to kmart. But you don't have to spend
- 1:18:23Speaker 4: one hundred bucks to get appear or regular jeans.
- 1:18:26Speaker 3: Something that like you get what you pay, something.
- 1:18:28Speaker 4: My son would wear. Yeah, those are gonna cost you
- 1:18:30Speaker 4: a hundred bucks more of like a designer kind of thing.
- 1:18:33Speaker 3: I'm not wearing the designer jeans cost two hundred bills.
- 1:18:36Speaker 4: I'm not wearing Joe Ache.
- 1:18:38Speaker 3: I'm not saying that, Paul Marshalls. Something that compliments you
- 1:18:42Speaker 3: a little bit, better listen. Something something that doesn't say,
- 1:18:46Speaker 3: I'm going to the grocery store. Do you need anything that.
- 1:18:49Speaker 4: Would be sweats, Something that doesn't say I've completely given up.
- 1:18:58Speaker 3: This is the Show's the show, I mean screws dungarees.
- 1:19:04Speaker 4: I hope you recorded all of that. I expect to
- 1:19:07Speaker 4: see we can.
- 1:19:07Speaker 5: Do like a little a little.
- 1:19:09Speaker 6: Paul cut out where we can like you know, fashion
- 1:19:11Speaker 6: you and you know, cut out a pair of jeans
- 1:19:12Speaker 6: and put.
- 1:19:13Speaker 9: Them on like toy for the kids. The kid listeners.
- 1:19:15Speaker 9: They want to dress up Paul Perlo. No, he's not
- 1:19:18Speaker 9: plus by that one.
- 1:19:19Speaker 3: Like remember when I was little, they had this thing
- 1:19:22Speaker 3: called color forms. Yeah, those Yeah, bacon, bake them the
- 1:19:28Speaker 3: things I used to bake.
- 1:19:29Speaker 4: No, No, this was like a that's what you did
- 1:19:32Speaker 4: in Cali with all your movies.
- 1:19:33Speaker 3: This is like a two dimensional It was like a
- 1:19:35Speaker 3: board that you had these sticky vinyl things. And there's
- 1:19:39Speaker 3: still a thing for my kids.
- 1:19:40Speaker 7: Have them.
- 1:19:40Speaker 4: Color color forms.
- 1:19:42Speaker 1: It's like a raincoat or a farmer. Yeah, just dress
- 1:19:45Speaker 1: them up with all the vinyl stickers on this one
- 1:19:47Speaker 1: half naked human being.
- 1:19:48Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, I remember what you're talking about. Colors, Yeah,
- 1:19:53Speaker 4: color forms. Fun? What am I'm pretty sure that was
- 1:19:56Speaker 4: a commercial.
- 1:19:57Speaker 3: Matt Cologne writes in Uh, my wife Elena and I
- 1:20:01Speaker 3: are just about to make dinner as we're listening to
- 1:20:03Speaker 3: the show on YouTube. Mike just came in and we
- 1:20:06Speaker 3: literally started dancing to the song. Thank you very much
- 1:20:10Speaker 3: for your show and all the input regarding the Patriots.
- 1:20:12Speaker 3: Do you guys already know when the Patriots will return
- 1:20:14Speaker 3: to Germany and where they will play next time? At
- 1:20:17Speaker 3: the moment, there are rumors about a game in Berlin.
- 1:20:21Speaker 3: I don't know if the Patriots are going to play
- 1:20:23Speaker 3: there next year, but I do know that Roger Dell
- 1:20:25Speaker 3: is working hard to get a game in Berlin.
- 1:20:29Speaker 4: So yeah, those eight international games, like you said yesterday,
- 1:20:36Speaker 4: that's like.
- 1:20:37Speaker 3: Half the that's half the league playing a game.
- 1:20:39Speaker 4: Somewhere, you know.
- 1:20:40Speaker 6: I mean, I just I want to know how Mad
- 1:20:43Speaker 6: what exactly that dance was like, because I mean, it's
- 1:20:45Speaker 6: it's a wonderful song, but it's kind of at least
- 1:20:48Speaker 6: very rhythmic.
- 1:20:50Speaker 4: For you, yea, the song, because the song is outstands.
- 1:20:53Speaker 9: It's wonderful, but it's.
- 1:20:54Speaker 4: Like, you know, it's a song we've had.
- 1:20:56Speaker 9: You're not doing like the run, You're kind.
- 1:20:57Speaker 3: Of from the locker room. What was the mood?
- 1:21:06Speaker 9: What was it like testing the food together to the song?
- 1:21:11Speaker 4: Like, what was it?
- 1:21:12Speaker 12: Like?
- 1:21:14Speaker 3: Wonderful out and it fades out, fades into Mike.
- 1:21:18Speaker 9: And then I just wink at the camera.
- 1:21:23Speaker 3: One wants to talk football, Come on, so we'll go
- 1:21:26Speaker 3: back to football, okay. He says he went to the
- 1:21:29Speaker 3: Patriots Bears games last weekend and noticed that at the
- 1:21:32Speaker 3: top of the break, the Bears receivers were blanketed by
- 1:21:34Speaker 3: the Patriots defense. I noticed this a couple of times
- 1:21:38Speaker 3: before the beer took effect, not the Bear, the beer.
- 1:21:42Speaker 3: After the game, I saw a video of someone calling
- 1:21:45Speaker 3: out the Bears play calling slash designs. He made a
- 1:21:48Speaker 3: point that most, if not all, the sacks came in
- 1:21:51Speaker 3: plays where the Bears receivers had super slow developing plays.
- 1:21:54Speaker 3: He showed some videos showing that most if not all,
- 1:21:57Speaker 3: the receiver routes would be outbreaking routes toward the sideline
- 1:22:01Speaker 3: and none or almost in the middle for quick throw options.
- 1:22:05Speaker 3: In fact, he paused one video showing a Patriot defender
- 1:22:09Speaker 3: coming free and all you can see is vertical routes
- 1:22:12Speaker 3: down the field with none of the receivers having their
- 1:22:15Speaker 3: head turned toward the quarterback. Not to downplay how well
- 1:22:18Speaker 3: the Patriot's defense played, but how much did the Bears help,
- 1:22:23Speaker 3: not just with the bat oline play, but also bad
- 1:22:26Speaker 3: calling or bad route running.
- 1:22:29Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean, I the Bears offense did not look
- 1:22:32Speaker 6: in sync at all to me, and that's you know,
- 1:22:35Speaker 6: I just I don't want to not.
- 1:22:36Speaker 9: Give credit to the Patriots, but they just even.
- 1:22:39Speaker 6: Some of the plays that I thought were there, Caleb
- 1:22:40Speaker 6: Williams just wasn't seeing it fast enough.
- 1:22:42Speaker 9: And I mean, we've seen that kind of thing.
- 1:22:43Speaker 4: That would be my argument how much of it was
- 1:22:45Speaker 4: on KAYLEB Williams, because you're not necessarily supposed to be
- 1:22:48Speaker 4: looking when the ball's thrown. Yeah, right, Like so if
- 1:22:50Speaker 4: you're looking at videos and no one's looking when the
- 1:22:54Speaker 4: pressure is coming, like there needs to be. I think
- 1:22:58Speaker 4: it's all of the above. Basically what the emailer is
- 1:23:00Speaker 4: describing is I think all of those things were part
- 1:23:02Speaker 4: of it. I think it's a poor design. I didn't
- 1:23:05Speaker 4: see a lot of downfield stuff, and Evan had yesterday
- 1:23:08Speaker 4: the numbers. It was only one throw that traveled more
- 1:23:11Speaker 4: than ten did you say ten yard or twenty? I
- 1:23:13Speaker 4: think it was so like that's just poor design. And
- 1:23:16Speaker 4: I think Caleb Williams did a poor job of reading
- 1:23:19Speaker 4: the field and handling the pressure and moving around. And
- 1:23:23Speaker 4: I think the Patriots also did a great job at
- 1:23:26Speaker 4: combating all of those things, whether it be in the
- 1:23:29Speaker 4: front end getting some pressure on him or the back
- 1:23:31Speaker 4: end and having tight coverage. I think it was sort
- 1:23:34Speaker 4: of a mix of a lot of bad stuff.
- 1:23:37Speaker 3: Bubba writes in still kind of sticking on the Bears game.
- 1:23:40Speaker 3: I don't want to rain on your parade, but winning
- 1:23:43Speaker 3: against the Bears doesn't mean much much like the sincey win.
- 1:23:47Speaker 3: Instead of the sincey win, we only scored nineteen points
- 1:23:51Speaker 3: versus a bad team in total disarray. The offense was
- 1:23:54Speaker 3: not solid, pass protection was soft. There is still a
- 1:23:57Speaker 3: lot of work to get consistently scoring twenty plus points
- 1:24:00Speaker 3: per game. The defense played well, but Chicago's O line
- 1:24:03Speaker 3: was so weak that it's not NFL caliber. I like
- 1:24:06Speaker 3: the coverage it caused a number of the sacks. I
- 1:24:08Speaker 3: like the fewer mistakes and better coaching. Time will tell,
- 1:24:12Speaker 3: but I don't think they can win more than two
- 1:24:14Speaker 3: of the remaining games that the passing game does not
- 1:24:17Speaker 3: improve dramatically.
- 1:24:19Speaker 9: I kind of agree with Bubba.
- 1:24:21Speaker 3: They just have to get better. We're saying they don't.
- 1:24:24Speaker 9: Ye no, but a win win at this point, I
- 1:24:26Speaker 9: think that's what everyone will will take.
- 1:24:28Speaker 4: And I think that the fact that they were able
- 1:24:30Speaker 4: to do what they did. The difference in this game
- 1:24:34Speaker 4: in the Cincinnati game, to me was they won this
- 1:24:36Speaker 4: game easily going away. They took advantage of the other
- 1:24:39Speaker 4: team not playing well and won easily. Now, I would
- 1:24:42Speaker 4: have loved to have seen more conversions in the red
- 1:24:45Speaker 4: zone and all that, and I would have liked to
- 1:24:47Speaker 4: have seen Drake may look a little bit more comfortable
- 1:24:49Speaker 4: than he did. But to win a game easily when
- 1:24:52Speaker 4: the other team is playing you know poorly, that's what
- 1:24:55Speaker 4: you're supposed to do.
- 1:24:56Speaker 9: I think too.
- 1:24:57Speaker 6: You just see the effect that losing week after week
- 1:24:59Speaker 6: has on a team, and you know, no matter how
- 1:25:02Speaker 6: you get a win, it just has such a beneficial
- 1:25:05Speaker 6: effect to the team and just gives them a reprieve
- 1:25:08Speaker 6: from all the same questions and everything. And this is
- 1:25:11Speaker 6: what I felt today in the in the locker room
- 1:25:12Speaker 6: and in the interviews. That was just everybody had a
- 1:25:14Speaker 6: little bit renewed energy this week and that's you know,
- 1:25:17Speaker 6: hopefully that can help them continue it. But I agree
- 1:25:20Speaker 6: with the sentiment. Well, but they got they got a
- 1:25:21Speaker 6: lot to a lot of work still to do.
- 1:25:24Speaker 3: Tom in England said quick over under how many full
- 1:25:28Speaker 3: games will Cole Strange play for the New England Patriots
- 1:25:30Speaker 3: from now until he becomes a free agent. The over under,
- 1:25:34Speaker 3: he says, is thirteen.
- 1:25:35Speaker 4: What year is this for him?
- 1:25:36Speaker 9: This is the third year, so his fourth year.
- 1:25:39Speaker 6: Next year, they'd have to pick up his option this
- 1:25:41Speaker 6: coming season if they were this coming off season.
- 1:25:43Speaker 4: If they were to do it, that's for the fifth year.
- 1:25:46Speaker 4: So next year I would say seventeen.
- 1:25:49Speaker 3: He's going to play all games? Yeah, okay, so over
- 1:25:52Speaker 3: over thirteen?
- 1:25:53Speaker 4: Oh over yes.
- 1:25:55Speaker 3: Also shout out to Paul for his ability and passion
- 1:25:58Speaker 3: to argue any argument at any time, no matter whether
- 1:26:02Speaker 3: he agrees or not. It's an art form.
- 1:26:03Speaker 4: It's a gift and a curse.
- 1:26:06Speaker 6: It is a curse because sometimes I imagine the inside
- 1:26:08Speaker 6: of Paul's mind.
- 1:26:09Speaker 9: Arguing both sides of it himself.
- 1:26:11Speaker 4: Would you say that I argue one side here a
- 1:26:13Speaker 4: lot and then good complete?
- 1:26:16Speaker 3: Would you credit Rich Parillo for that gift?
- 1:26:18Speaker 4: Oh?
- 1:26:18Speaker 9: Yeah, yeah, your brother just torturing you.
- 1:26:21Speaker 4: You think I'm a pro. There's a guy who missed
- 1:26:24Speaker 4: his call.
- 1:26:27Speaker 3: No, I mean, you know, for every great argument, there's
- 1:26:30Speaker 3: an argument behind them.
- 1:26:31Speaker 6: Oh sure, well, and I mean I I've just noticed
- 1:26:33Speaker 6: that little brothers are so affected by big brothers, Like
- 1:26:36Speaker 6: you know, little brothers and big brothers.
- 1:26:37Speaker 9: That's a I know. I didn't have brothers growing up.
- 1:26:40Speaker 4: And all I ever wanted to do was argue with them.
- 1:26:43Speaker 3: How many times did an argument with Rich turn into
- 1:26:45Speaker 3: a fight? Physical fight?
- 1:26:48Speaker 4: Physical? No? No, okay, no, I mean we fought physically.
- 1:26:53Speaker 4: We did, but not necessarily because of arguing. Okay, it
- 1:26:56Speaker 4: was more because of something usually that I did.
- 1:26:59Speaker 6: The funny thing I noticed about brothers, though, is that,
- 1:27:01Speaker 6: like they'll start kind of doing stuff with each other,
- 1:27:03Speaker 6: and then one will escalate with some kind of physical thing,
- 1:27:06Speaker 6: and then the other one gets raging, pissed, and like
- 1:27:09Speaker 6: you can just watch it go from like hah, kind
- 1:27:11Speaker 6: of joking around to all of a sudden they're like
- 1:27:13Speaker 6: at their each other's throats and have.
- 1:27:14Speaker 3: To be separated, right and all the past grievances.
- 1:27:17Speaker 4: Oh yeah, I punched them once in the shoulder, like
- 1:27:20Speaker 4: up here, like I and like as hard as I could,
- 1:27:22Speaker 4: like and I hit like the top of his shoulder
- 1:27:25Speaker 4: and it kind of like slipped off, and I hit
- 1:27:28Speaker 4: him in the jaw. And that's about time. That's about
- 1:27:31Speaker 4: as afraid as I've ever been in my life. And
- 1:27:32Speaker 4: I'm not exaggerating. I ran as fast as I could
- 1:27:35Speaker 4: my friend Joey Joey Massa save me. He got he
- 1:27:39Speaker 4: got in between, gave me a little bit of a
- 1:27:41Speaker 4: head start. I made it down the stairs, down the driveway,
- 1:27:45Speaker 4: around the corner, and he's eventually he just stopped chasing.
- 1:27:50Speaker 4: I thought he was going to kill me because I
- 1:27:52Speaker 4: totally didn't do it on purpose. I just meant to
- 1:27:54Speaker 4: hit him in the arm. She ended up hitting him
- 1:27:57Speaker 4: like as hard as I could. And I was probably
- 1:27:59Speaker 4: like fifteen or sixteen, so it wasn't like I was
- 1:28:02Speaker 4: a little kid, like I had something behind it, not
- 1:28:05Speaker 4: like I was Mike Tyson or anything.
- 1:28:07Speaker 3: And left hand.
- 1:28:08Speaker 4: Oh yeah, yeah.
- 1:28:10Speaker 9: How much older is he?
- 1:28:10Speaker 17: You think?
- 1:28:11Speaker 4: Four years?
- 1:28:11Speaker 3: Four years?
- 1:28:12Speaker 9: It's the same as my boy.
- 1:28:14Speaker 3: Joe Wright Sin says he's disappointed in Paul. Yesterday, he
- 1:28:18Speaker 3: said Drake has the skill to play in Buffalo, mentioning
- 1:28:21Speaker 3: that he can throw the ball into the wind. Where
- 1:28:23Speaker 3: was the snarky when he knows it's there or not?
- 1:28:26Speaker 3: Just when the coaches make him.
- 1:28:29Speaker 9: That's pretty good, that's pretty good.
- 1:28:30Speaker 4: Also, just you know, I don't put any of the
- 1:28:33Speaker 4: thing in Tennessee on Drake, man, right, I don't need
- 1:28:36Speaker 4: there's no snark involved. There's snarking with the wind in
- 1:28:39Speaker 4: Tennessee is on the coach.
- 1:28:40Speaker 3: Also, man, does friend make being rich sound hard? Or what?
- 1:28:45Speaker 3: Getting up from your table, paying your tab, carry your drink?
- 1:28:49Speaker 3: Don't carry your drink? And this is before you've even
- 1:28:52Speaker 3: tried to order your steak and all the rules that
- 1:28:54Speaker 3: come with that. True, God, oh man.
- 1:29:00Speaker 5: You shouldn't.
- 1:29:01Speaker 4: You shouldn't have to carry your own drink. That's not.
- 1:29:05Speaker 3: It's not that I just said I carry my own drink,
- 1:29:09Speaker 3: but I from what I understand, it's not good etiquette
- 1:29:13Speaker 3: to do it.
- 1:29:13Speaker 4: No, Like if I was out at like the Capitol Grille, Yeah,
- 1:29:16Speaker 4: I probably wouldn't do that.
- 1:29:18Speaker 3: I would.
- 1:29:19Speaker 4: I wouldn't carry my drink.
- 1:29:20Speaker 3: I would.
- 1:29:20Speaker 4: You would, well, but you're not supposed to.
- 1:29:22Speaker 3: They say that you're not supposed to, but I would.
- 1:29:25Speaker 3: And somebody emailed a good thing. He says in today's
- 1:29:28Speaker 3: day and age, if I've started a drink, there's no
- 1:29:31Speaker 3: way I'm trusting that drink with somebody else, Like it's
- 1:29:34Speaker 3: not out of my sight.
- 1:29:35Speaker 4: Oh, I wouldn't do, Roofie.
- 1:29:37Speaker 3: I'm not letting that drink out of my sight.
- 1:29:39Speaker 4: So, but that's hypocritical. You let it out of your
- 1:29:41Speaker 4: sight when he brought it to you. Yeah, yeah, so
- 1:29:46Speaker 4: why I mean, I get for women, that's a different thing,
- 1:29:49Speaker 4: and it's it's a very serious issue. But it's not
- 1:29:52Speaker 4: like the guy next to you at the bar is
- 1:29:54Speaker 4: carrying your drink over the server is carrying your drink
- 1:29:57Speaker 4: over the same server in a lot of cases that
- 1:29:59Speaker 4: gave it to you in the first place. So I
- 1:30:01Speaker 4: don't really understand what the feorists.
- 1:30:04Speaker 3: Bert and Burton Island writes, and he says he's been
- 1:30:06Speaker 3: wondering is it possible that Todd from North Carolina is
- 1:30:10Speaker 3: secretly trolling everybody? Because every time he calls in, he
- 1:30:13Speaker 3: always manages to work in the word O fence. There
- 1:30:17Speaker 3: are definitely some dim witted listeners to the show, especially
- 1:30:20Speaker 3: those who don't recognize the greatness of the picks segment.
- 1:30:23Speaker 3: To me, it is the best part of the show
- 1:30:24Speaker 3: each week. I especially love the coajin analysis of each
- 1:30:28Speaker 3: game by Alex.
- 1:30:34Speaker 4: I will say that some people, some people might not
- 1:30:38Speaker 4: know Todd in North Carolina is originally from Canada. Nova Scotia.
- 1:30:44Speaker 4: I believe, right, Todd Nova Scotia think so. Yeah, that's
- 1:30:46Speaker 4: how he his original last name was Nova Scotia. In
- 1:30:49Speaker 4: Nova Scotia, I think so he has the Canadian he
- 1:30:54Speaker 4: does accent.
- 1:30:56Speaker 3: But do you think he emphasizes I don't think.
- 1:30:58Speaker 4: He's trolling us, now you don't. Maybe I don't put
- 1:31:00Speaker 4: anything past anybody. Yeah, you know, it's kind of like,
- 1:31:03Speaker 4: you know what Fred says, it's a winnable game. I
- 1:31:05Speaker 4: absolutely agree. Any given someday, it's a winnable game.
- 1:31:07Speaker 3: All right, let's get back to the TPX hotline. We've
- 1:31:11Speaker 3: heard from some emailers. Let's get to the callers. Mike's
- 1:31:14Speaker 3: in Puerto Rico. What's up, Mike?
- 1:31:17Speaker 17: Hey, everybody having an awesome Patriot How about yourself?
- 1:31:21Speaker 9: Yeah?
- 1:31:22Speaker 3: Always better after a win, I know.
- 1:31:25Speaker 17: And I actually got to travel down for both the
- 1:31:29Speaker 17: Titans and the Chicago game. I met Melvin and Dre
- 1:31:34Speaker 17: I guess just before you went out with them in
- 1:31:38Speaker 17: Nashville and got to see the comeback against the Titans,
- 1:31:45Speaker 17: which was really cool. And then because we were driving
- 1:31:48Speaker 17: the whole time, we stopped in Indianapolis and got to
- 1:31:51Speaker 17: experience us saying almost.
- 1:31:53Speaker 13: Shrimp cocktail, oh nice.
- 1:31:57Speaker 17: Which was which was overpowering. I mean that that is
- 1:32:00Speaker 17: some strong stuff over there. And checked off Soldier Fields
- 1:32:05Speaker 17: from from my bucket list of places that I wanted
- 1:32:07Speaker 17: to go. That place is actually really cool.
- 1:32:09Speaker 3: Yeah, it's dump though they're already looking for a new stadium.
- 1:32:15Speaker 7: Years.
- 1:32:15Speaker 17: Yeah, the same thing.
- 1:32:16Speaker 4: With Yeah, but it's a dump. I mean that was
- 1:32:20Speaker 4: I mean, that is a dump.
- 1:32:24Speaker 3: But it's a story of the historic places. You can't
- 1:32:29Speaker 3: beat the setting right there on the Lake day, Yeah,
- 1:32:33Speaker 3: I agree.
- 1:32:34Speaker 13: Yeah, and and.
- 1:32:36Speaker 17: The day before Veterans Day, like the whole thing that
- 1:32:38Speaker 17: they did over there was actually really really cool. But
- 1:32:42Speaker 17: I'm excited. I mean, I know I was down a
- 1:32:43Speaker 17: couple of weeks ago when I called in, but obviously
- 1:32:47Speaker 17: getting Drake in and the way that they perform, and
- 1:32:49Speaker 17: I mean just seeing that comeback against the Titans, I
- 1:32:52Speaker 17: mean that was really impressive and just the I think
- 1:32:56Speaker 17: we've turned the corner and I think the team has
- 1:32:58Speaker 17: got some positive energy. I think Mayo is pushing the
- 1:33:01Speaker 17: right buttons. Hopefully Alex Abp keeps developing Drake and Drake
- 1:33:07Speaker 17: just keeps ticking a stronger and larger leadership role in
- 1:33:12Speaker 17: the team.
- 1:33:13Speaker 3: Okay, I agree, Thanks Mike, appreciate the call. Uh, let's
- 1:33:18Speaker 3: go to Arizona where Riley's on the phone. What's up? Riley? Riley? Hello, right?
- 1:33:27Speaker 3: What what is going on?
- 1:33:29Speaker 4: I had one of his kids waiting online.
- 1:33:31Speaker 11: I believe I was going, Uh, first time puller here.
- 1:33:35Speaker 11: I've been a listener for a couple of years now,
- 1:33:38Speaker 11: but first time calling. So just wanted to say, uh
- 1:33:43Speaker 11: that you guys are my favorite Patriots podcasts to listen to.
- 1:33:46Speaker 11: I listened to some of the others and I just
- 1:33:49Speaker 11: want to say Felder and maz are some real bozos.
- 1:33:54Speaker 11: Listening to them a little bit yesterday, and they couldn't
- 1:33:58Speaker 11: even pronounce Brendan Schooler's name correctly. They kept calling and
- 1:34:02Speaker 11: Brandon brain and Schooler.
- 1:34:05Speaker 3: Well, that that's disrespect.
- 1:34:08Speaker 11: That's how they yeah, exactly, And to me, it's just like,
- 1:34:11Speaker 11: how are you gonna have a podcast about Patriots football
- 1:34:14Speaker 11: but not even educate yourselves on the players and pronounce
- 1:34:18Speaker 11: their names correctly?
- 1:34:20Speaker 6: It is awful, I agree.
- 1:34:25Speaker 11: And then I just have two other quick things. This
- 1:34:30Speaker 11: might be more of a question for Evan, but between
- 1:34:33Speaker 11: Kelvin Banks and Will Campbell, who would you guys rather
- 1:34:40Speaker 11: draft and why? And then lastly, I know we've talked
- 1:34:45Speaker 11: a lot about C Higgins and how he's going to
- 1:34:47Speaker 11: be a free agent, But if we weren't able to
- 1:34:52Speaker 11: land C Higgins, what other wide receivers would you like
- 1:34:56Speaker 11: to see us go after, especially considering s Higgins's kind
- 1:35:00Speaker 11: of injury prone and has been the last couple of seasons.
- 1:35:05Speaker 11: And then finally, I hope to see you guys at
- 1:35:09Speaker 11: the Cardinals Patriots game on the fifteenth. Just bought my
- 1:35:12Speaker 11: ticket last weekend, so super soaked for that and looking forward.
- 1:35:18Speaker 3: To it, all right, thanks Riley. I wonder if there's
- 1:35:21Speaker 3: any fan stuff gonna happen in Arizona, we'll have to go,
- 1:35:24Speaker 3: so thanks time.
- 1:35:25Speaker 9: But big Finkle down there, right.
- 1:35:26Speaker 4: Yeah, oh yeah, how much they used to opine on
- 1:35:30Speaker 4: various things. I mean yeah, speaking of PFW and progress timelines,
- 1:35:35Speaker 4: Evans answer to the tackle question would be, whichever one
- 1:35:38Speaker 4: of them has thirty three.
- 1:35:39Speaker 6: Inch right that it's true? I mean, I haven't. I've
- 1:35:42Speaker 6: done enough just on those guys like.
- 1:35:44Speaker 4: I like them both.
- 1:35:44Speaker 6: They're both, They're both have some question marks though. I
- 1:35:46Speaker 6: think at the start of the season everyone said these
- 1:35:48Speaker 6: two guys are top five left tackle the future, and
- 1:35:51Speaker 6: now they're both have, you know, questions if they'll be
- 1:35:53Speaker 6: able to develop into those players.
- 1:35:55Speaker 9: I think I think.
- 1:35:56Speaker 6: Banks is maybe a little bit more high ceiling, a
- 1:35:58Speaker 6: little bit more athletic, but there'll be plenty of time
- 1:36:00Speaker 6: to get into that. I just think of the Patriots
- 1:36:02Speaker 6: are seven, eight, nine, ten somewhere in there that that's
- 1:36:05Speaker 6: probably a good.
- 1:36:06Speaker 3: At some point early on, I looked at who were
- 1:36:10Speaker 3: the projected free agents for wide receivers next year, and
- 1:36:13Speaker 3: now I forget who they are. Is are there any
- 1:36:15Speaker 3: big names that are going to be legitimate free agents,
- 1:36:18Speaker 3: because don't rule out trades too, because that can happen
- 1:36:20Speaker 3: as well.
- 1:36:20Speaker 4: Yeah, I don't know who's going to be traded the
- 1:36:23Speaker 4: free agent list. I mean I think most people put
- 1:36:26Speaker 4: T Higgins at the top of the list, So yeah,
- 1:36:30Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 1:36:30Speaker 3: Then it's not great. It's okay if he's in.
- 1:36:34Speaker 4: The top, you know, well for free agents. For free agents,
- 1:36:38Speaker 4: that's pretty high. Like usually the guys don't become free agents.
- 1:36:42Speaker 4: It's kind of it's not as bad as left tackle,
- 1:36:45Speaker 4: but usually you trade the guy if you don't think
- 1:36:48Speaker 4: you're gonna be able to resign him. That's why you
- 1:36:51Speaker 4: have seen a lot of high profile trades. So you're
- 1:36:52Speaker 4: not wrong to think trade market. See who's you know,
- 1:36:57Speaker 4: if you know, forget T Higgins, are they going to
- 1:37:00Speaker 4: continue to sort of screw around with Jamar Chase.
- 1:37:05Speaker 9: Opportunistic?
- 1:37:06Speaker 4: So they're going to have to get him signed. You
- 1:37:08Speaker 4: know in this offseason. He's not gonna want to play
- 1:37:12Speaker 4: it out. I mean he already held out all of
- 1:37:14Speaker 4: the summer. You know, after his third year, he's not
- 1:37:17Speaker 4: gonna want to play it out, you know, heading into
- 1:37:19Speaker 4: his h his fourth year, right, that's this is his
- 1:37:23Speaker 4: third year heading into his fourth year. Yeah, make them
- 1:37:27Speaker 4: an off whe we can't refuse Chase.
- 1:37:29Speaker 9: Yes, I would take mar Chase, Yes for sure.
- 1:37:31Speaker 4: I mean, if we're looking at guys to target, why
- 1:37:35Speaker 4: not go for that. But that's the the A J.
- 1:37:39Speaker 4: That's the year that you do it.
- 1:37:41Speaker 9: Yeah right, you know you got the money to do it.
- 1:37:44Speaker 9: Like that moves my needle. I just I just don't
- 1:37:47Speaker 9: like to get off.
- 1:37:50Speaker 17: T.
- 1:37:50Speaker 6: Higgins and like, I just I don't, I don't know,
- 1:37:53Speaker 6: I just I'm I'm over pining for any wide receiver
- 1:37:55Speaker 6: with a pulse outside.
- 1:37:56Speaker 9: Of the building.
- 1:37:57Speaker 6: I think we see every year there are guys that
- 1:37:59Speaker 6: come in that are good. So you know, I think
- 1:38:01Speaker 6: my primary thing would be certainly like if you could
- 1:38:03Speaker 6: get you know, and there's probably five guys that I
- 1:38:05Speaker 6: would say that about.
- 1:38:06Speaker 9: In the league. Certainly A J.
- 1:38:07Speaker 6: Brown was you know one of them. T Higgins is not,
- 1:38:10Speaker 6: but you know Jamar Chase definitely is. I just continue
- 1:38:13Speaker 6: to stack these guys. I date day two picks speed,
- 1:38:16Speaker 6: Day two pick wide receiver speed.
- 1:38:18Speaker 9: That to me is how how you should do it.
- 1:38:21Speaker 9: And you know, I just I don't know. I just
- 1:38:23Speaker 9: I can't spend another.
- 1:38:23Speaker 6: Offseason taking twenty five calls about T Higgins as if
- 1:38:27Speaker 6: he is the answer to everything, and I like, there's another.
- 1:38:29Speaker 3: Part of it.
- 1:38:29Speaker 4: Two to be alone is not the answer to every
- 1:38:31Speaker 4: now now.
- 1:38:31Speaker 6: And I know you said they need two guys, but
- 1:38:33Speaker 6: I just there's an appeal to me in developing guys
- 1:38:37Speaker 6: and they're all coming in together.
- 1:38:38Speaker 9: Whereas when you're gonna go out and you're gonna.
- 1:38:40Speaker 6: Pay huge money to a guy who already did it elsewhere,
- 1:38:44Speaker 6: this guy's gonna come in with expectations, with an ego,
- 1:38:47Speaker 6: And so I just think from a team building dynamic,
- 1:38:50Speaker 6: there's something to be said for working your way up
- 1:38:53Speaker 6: with guys and Drake May, you draft a guy this
- 1:38:55Speaker 6: year and they earn that chemistry and they're all in
- 1:38:57Speaker 6: it together instead of Drake May. And some guys start
- 1:39:00Speaker 6: to work together and okay, guys, now we're going to
- 1:39:02Speaker 6: bring in this superstar and.
- 1:39:04Speaker 9: It might work out great. But there's also another element.
- 1:39:06Speaker 4: This is good, this's a good discussion. Let me ask you,
- 1:39:09Speaker 4: do you think Philadelphia, do you think Howie Roseman likes
- 1:39:15Speaker 4: DeVante Smith more than AJ Brown?
- 1:39:17Speaker 6: Well, I would say I like AJ Brown is one
- 1:39:20Speaker 6: of these guys of come hell or Higwase.
- 1:39:21Speaker 4: But I'm not necessarily talking about like as a player.
- 1:39:25Speaker 4: Like he likes the fact these are both great wide
- 1:39:28Speaker 4: receivers that we have. But I drafted and developed Deavante Smith,
- 1:39:31Speaker 4: whereas I just traded for someone else to develop aj Brown.
- 1:39:34Speaker 4: I don't think anybody cares. No.
- 1:39:36Speaker 3: And there's the point.
- 1:39:37Speaker 4: That you need to have is you need to hit
- 1:39:39Speaker 4: on both. So I'm all in on the Mike Dusaut
- 1:39:42Speaker 4: plan of let's get another T Higgins in the second round.
- 1:39:48Speaker 4: But you know what I'm hoping for with the second
- 1:39:49Speaker 4: round pick T Higgins? Right, So why not draft whoever
- 1:39:54Speaker 4: in the second round and signed T Higgins and then
- 1:39:57Speaker 4: maybe the guy in the second round turns out to
- 1:39:59Speaker 4: be better than T Higgins and I have a one
- 1:40:01Speaker 4: in a two yep. I would just say so, like
- 1:40:03Speaker 4: the whole like, and this is again, I'm gonna pick
- 1:40:06Speaker 4: on mad again because this is what Mattick goes. Matt
- 1:40:08Speaker 4: hates all of these guys like Jamar Chase and Justin
- 1:40:11Speaker 4: Jefferson are like the only two guys in the league
- 1:40:13Speaker 4: that are worthy of his sort of admiration. And I
- 1:40:16Speaker 4: get it, those guys are great. I love them both.
- 1:40:18Speaker 4: They're not probably not available, right, right, So what do
- 1:40:22Speaker 4: you do? Like he hated Calvin Ridley. Okay, I get it.
- 1:40:26Speaker 4: Calvin Ridley's not AJ Brown, He's not Mike's right, he's
- 1:40:30Speaker 4: not Justin Jefferson. But he's pretty good and you could
- 1:40:33Speaker 4: have got him for a lot less than those guys cost,
- 1:40:37Speaker 4: but unfortunately he didn't sign. Like, if you had him,
- 1:40:40Speaker 4: I think you'd be one step closer to where you
- 1:40:42Speaker 4: need to be with the wide receiver room. So find
- 1:40:45Speaker 4: another one, yep in draft one. I like, I'm all
- 1:40:48Speaker 4: on the deuce plant. Yeah, Like, you can't just say
- 1:40:51Speaker 4: we're gonna sign T Higgins and everything's gonna be Okay, No,
- 1:40:54Speaker 4: it won't be.
- 1:40:55Speaker 3: No sucks think of Lad McConkey.
- 1:40:58Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm pretty sure No Socks has no.
- 1:41:00Speaker 9: Lack, I hear you.
- 1:41:01Speaker 6: I just think like it becomes Yeah, I do it
- 1:41:03Speaker 6: for Justin Jefferson, I do it for A J.
- 1:41:05Speaker 7: Brown.
- 1:41:05Speaker 6: Now I'll do it for Brandon Ayuk. Yeah, yeah, I'll
- 1:41:07Speaker 6: do it for Calvin. Really, I'll do it for T.
- 1:41:09Speaker 9: Higgins.
- 1:41:09Speaker 6: Like at a certain point it just becomes a ton
- 1:41:11Speaker 6: of issue for me where you're not talking about the
- 1:41:13Speaker 6: same players anymore.
- 1:41:14Speaker 9: You're talking about.
- 1:41:15Speaker 6: Guys who are maybe more complimentary players, and like, if
- 1:41:18Speaker 6: I'm gonna overextend I want a J Brown, I would
- 1:41:21Speaker 6: have done it for Calvin.
- 1:41:22Speaker 4: But I don't want to think I just want to
- 1:41:23Speaker 4: sign a guy in a free agency And if I'm
- 1:41:26Speaker 4: signing T Higgins and I think I'm getting Justin Jefferson,
- 1:41:29Speaker 4: then I'm wrong. That's it. That's that's a that's a
- 1:41:32Speaker 4: me problem. But T Higgins is a really good player.
- 1:41:35Speaker 4: The callers right, I think it was the caller or
- 1:41:37Speaker 4: the emailer. He's a little injury prone. It's had a
- 1:41:40Speaker 4: couple of hamstring problems this year that have cost him
- 1:41:43Speaker 4: multiple games, but when he's on the field, he's a
- 1:41:46Speaker 4: difference maker for that team. Now you can say it's
- 1:41:49Speaker 4: all because of Chase, you might be right, but he
- 1:41:52Speaker 4: was a thousand yard receiver before Chase got there. He
- 1:41:56Speaker 4: was a really good player as a rookie when they
- 1:41:58Speaker 4: had nothing. It was Burrow and Higgins with a little
- 1:42:02Speaker 4: bit of Tyler Boyd sprinkled in, and he was pretty good.
- 1:42:04Speaker 3: Would you bring in Cooper Cup No, No, too old.
- 1:42:08Speaker 4: I think he's a little past the speed I want speed.
- 1:42:11Speaker 4: But you know what, you could probably convince me in
- 1:42:14Speaker 4: Cooper Cup too. But now you definitely got to do
- 1:42:16Speaker 4: the douce play. Oh yeah, you got to get someone
- 1:42:18Speaker 4: about the answer. You got to get someone above.
- 1:42:20Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 1:42:20Speaker 9: And I think it all either plan feeds into what
- 1:42:23Speaker 9: you're saying.
- 1:42:23Speaker 6: They need to guys two guys that move the needle,
- 1:42:27Speaker 6: and I mean, you're right one way or another, try
- 1:42:30Speaker 6: to get them.
- 1:42:30Speaker 9: I just I just think that there is.
- 1:42:32Speaker 6: Value for if you can believe in your own internal development.
- 1:42:35Speaker 6: And like I mean it to be honest, other side
- 1:42:36Speaker 6: of the ball, like I've kind of got to crush
- 1:42:37Speaker 6: a little bit on what the Rams are doing on defense,
- 1:42:39Speaker 6: where over the last couple of years they've hit a
- 1:42:42Speaker 6: multiple defensive draft picks, and you heard the guys this
- 1:42:45Speaker 6: morning talking about how hard those guys are playing, and
- 1:42:48Speaker 6: you know, statistically you look at them, they don't look
- 1:42:50Speaker 6: overwhelming or anything like that. But over the course of
- 1:42:52Speaker 6: two years, you've got at least four guys in your
- 1:42:55Speaker 6: front that were drafted over the first two days of
- 1:42:57Speaker 6: the draft that are making impacts now and that are
- 1:42:59Speaker 6: all starting to grow together. And that to me is
- 1:43:02Speaker 6: like the sexiest thing of all team building is like.
- 1:43:04Speaker 9: When you nail the draft. You got young, a young
- 1:43:07Speaker 9: cores that all grows together, that all gets experienced together.
- 1:43:10Speaker 9: Like that, that's ideal to me.
- 1:43:11Speaker 3: Ella's from Wisconsin says, Mike is completely right on wide receivers.
- 1:43:16Speaker 3: We should trust our front office to pick a wide
- 1:43:18Speaker 3: receiver in the draft. Just look at their track record.
- 1:43:22Speaker 4: That was going to be a mass stiff.
- 1:43:25Speaker 9: That's and that's totally fair. But what do you do.
- 1:43:27Speaker 9: Just stop drafting wide receivers. You're never going to do
- 1:43:29Speaker 9: it again.
- 1:43:30Speaker 4: You can't do it.
- 1:43:31Speaker 3: Is like they did with tight ends. They kept drafting
- 1:43:33Speaker 3: tight ends until they.
- 1:43:34Speaker 6: Got and like I mean, I'm sorry, just you know,
- 1:43:37Speaker 6: draft a lot of times guys don't work out, and
- 1:43:39Speaker 6: you just have to continue to hit it. And you know,
- 1:43:42Speaker 6: Paul and I have said this since the first time
- 1:43:43Speaker 6: I went to the combine with him.
- 1:43:45Speaker 9: Every year there's guys every year.
- 1:43:47Speaker 6: And granted they haven't hit him, and they didn't really
- 1:43:49Speaker 6: seem like they hit him this year either, even though
- 1:43:51Speaker 6: they did what we've been wanting them to do forever,
- 1:43:53Speaker 6: which is go double dip on the receivers. You gotta
- 1:43:56Speaker 6: keep you gotta keep doing it. There's too much talent
- 1:43:58Speaker 6: out there, Like you can't hit it.
- 1:44:00Speaker 4: You can't just say like, well we don't evaluate that position.
- 1:44:03Speaker 4: Well yeah, and say well you got to keep trying
- 1:44:05Speaker 4: and you got to get it right.
- 1:44:07Speaker 3: Uhn. Cody's in West Virginia.
- 1:44:09Speaker 9: What's up to, Cody?
- 1:44:11Speaker 3: Hey, guys doing good?
- 1:44:12Speaker 6: Hey good?
- 1:44:14Speaker 12: Uh you guys were just talking about the draft. I know,
- 1:44:17Speaker 12: probably a little sticking in hearing about it now, especially
- 1:44:20Speaker 12: being months away from now, but I think the bestops
- 1:44:25Speaker 12: right now is to choose a wide receiver in the
- 1:44:28Speaker 12: first round because there is a left tackle in the
- 1:44:32Speaker 12: second round, like projected to go in the second round. Now,
- 1:44:34Speaker 12: I'm going to sound like a bit of a homework
- 1:44:36Speaker 12: because he is from WVU. His name is why Milam,
- 1:44:41Speaker 12: and some stats for you. He's the only lineman who's
- 1:44:45Speaker 12: graded at eighty five and fast blocking and run blocking
- 1:44:49Speaker 12: and hasn't given up a pressure and hasn't given up
- 1:44:53Speaker 12: a sack in the past two years. So I'm wondering
- 1:44:55Speaker 12: if you think that would be okay, you know, maybe
- 1:44:57Speaker 12: drafts McMillan and then choose him in the second round,
- 1:45:02Speaker 12: or maybe just you know, double diet that left tackle. Listen,
- 1:45:05Speaker 12: I'll take it off the air.
- 1:45:06Speaker 3: I thank you, Cody, you know I don't know about
- 1:45:10Speaker 3: the guy, but if the stats are true and I much,
- 1:45:14Speaker 3: I'd much prefer doing that, taking a good left tackle
- 1:45:18Speaker 3: in the second round and using the first round for
- 1:45:23Speaker 3: you know, a skill position player who is more of
- 1:45:27Speaker 3: a sure thing. Yeah, you know, so I like that.
- 1:45:31Speaker 3: I don't what what was the name?
- 1:45:32Speaker 4: That was a great fretism? Though a little twist, because
- 1:45:36Speaker 4: I'm all on board with everything you said. But he
- 1:45:38Speaker 4: had a little twist?
- 1:45:39Speaker 7: Was it?
- 1:45:39Speaker 4: Who's more of a sure thing?
- 1:45:41Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 1:45:42Speaker 4: I agree. If I have a guy, if I'm choosing
- 1:45:45Speaker 4: at number five between this guy and this guy, I'll
- 1:45:47Speaker 4: take the guy that's more of a sure thing. I
- 1:45:49Speaker 4: don't care about his position. If he's more of a
- 1:45:51Speaker 4: sure thing, I want him.
- 1:45:52Speaker 3: But i'd rather have a no.
- 1:45:53Speaker 4: But I don't know that, not that McMillan is more
- 1:45:55Speaker 4: of a sure thing.
- 1:45:58Speaker 3: If I'm drafting high in the first round, I'd rather
- 1:46:00Speaker 3: have a sure thing skill position player than a sure
- 1:46:03Speaker 3: thing tackle.
- 1:46:05Speaker 4: Okay, so you're saying you'd rather have the wide receiver
- 1:46:07Speaker 4: than the tackle if they're equal. Yeah, okay, so that's different.
- 1:46:10Speaker 9: What about if it's a sure thing but he might
- 1:46:13Speaker 9: not be able to play tackle, But then they'd be
- 1:46:14Speaker 9: a sure thing at guard because I think that's kind
- 1:46:17Speaker 9: of what is going on Will Campbell.
- 1:46:18Speaker 4: That's not going to be Banks. Banks is at tackle
- 1:46:21Speaker 4: Will Campbell's.
- 1:46:22Speaker 6: I mean, that's some of the speculation with him of
- 1:46:24Speaker 6: if he can't tackle because he's got thirty two inch arms.
- 1:46:27Speaker 3: But now you but now you've reached that.
- 1:46:29Speaker 4: Well that's why you find but you know all this
- 1:46:31Speaker 4: stuff before the draft, right, like you know that if
- 1:46:33Speaker 4: he doesn't have the evan requisite arm length.
- 1:46:37Speaker 3: But who was what was the name of the guy
- 1:46:38Speaker 3: from West Virginia Cody? No, No, no, the guy the
- 1:46:41Speaker 3: player I couldn't We're gonna draft Cody.
- 1:46:45Speaker 4: Well, I just remember different names.
- 1:46:47Speaker 3: So we're gonna have to look at this guy because
- 1:46:49Speaker 3: if those stats are correct, Yeah, that's a high rating
- 1:46:53Speaker 3: and all.
- 1:46:53Speaker 4: It's just what I mean, can I see what the
- 1:46:56Speaker 4: scouts think of him?
- 1:46:57Speaker 3: Well, don't really do much.
- 1:46:58Speaker 6: I mean, you know, Will Campbell plays l s u
- 1:47:01Speaker 6: is you know, a stud left tackle and the like.
- 1:47:03Speaker 9: We don't even know if he can play it left
- 1:47:05Speaker 9: like even.
- 1:47:05Speaker 4: Though they're playing against the best of the best, not
- 1:47:08Speaker 4: the big twelve.
- 1:47:09Speaker 9: Yeah, right, it's hard.
- 1:47:11Speaker 6: I mean, that's that's what the frustrating thing is with
- 1:47:13Speaker 6: like a lot of these linemen developed where it's like
- 1:47:16Speaker 6: he's a left tackle, but he's probably gonna end up
- 1:47:17Speaker 6: inside a guard.
- 1:47:18Speaker 9: There's so many of those.
- 1:47:19Speaker 4: Come all, I'm all in Onna Coody's theory if that
- 1:47:22Speaker 4: kid and I.
- 1:47:23Speaker 9: Don't a little gym, I don't pretend to know.
- 1:47:25Speaker 4: But like, listen, how many guys were in the second
- 1:47:28Speaker 4: round last year at tackle I would have taken.
- 1:47:32Speaker 3: Run it.
- 1:47:33Speaker 4: You know, ros and Garden and you know Uni, like
- 1:47:37Speaker 4: all those guys. Now they're probably a little further away
- 1:47:40Speaker 4: from being you know, NFL ready. That's why their second
- 1:47:43Speaker 4: round pick, right. So that so those guys, some of
- 1:47:46Speaker 4: those guys that have played, they've struggled a little bit.
- 1:47:49Speaker 4: You know, Believe me, I find I hear about it
- 1:47:52Speaker 4: because you know, I wanted to draft one of them,
- 1:47:55Speaker 4: and you know, everybody, one of the ones.
- 1:47:58Speaker 9: That was availed impossible, couldn't have done it.
- 1:48:00Speaker 4: One of the ones that was available. You smell like
- 1:48:02Speaker 4: outside again, it's cold.
- 1:48:03Speaker 3: I can tell Sweitch up. Evan is here and he
- 1:48:07Speaker 3: looks cold and.
- 1:48:13Speaker 9: Then has turned.
- 1:48:16Speaker 1: Has turned.
- 1:48:22Speaker 3: So you're making a big deal about the weather. It
- 1:48:25Speaker 3: was freezing out there.
- 1:48:26Speaker 5: I wouldn't say it was freezing, but we're definitely we
- 1:48:29Speaker 5: got football weather out there. Now we're not we're not
- 1:48:32Speaker 5: doing this, you know, global warming stuff anymore. This is
- 1:48:35Speaker 5: we're getting a little Last.
- 1:48:37Speaker 3: Week, you were complaining about people talking.
- 1:48:39Speaker 9: About he doesn't like it.
- 1:48:40Speaker 5: Yeah, No, I don't like people that like exaggerate about
- 1:48:44Speaker 5: the weather. You know, like, we go outside, it's so beautiful,
- 1:48:47Speaker 5: let's work outside, November beautiful. Let's bring our laptops out
- 1:48:52Speaker 5: here today, guys, let's let's have school outside.
- 1:48:55Speaker 3: Oh, he doesn't want what a weather curmudgets.
- 1:49:00Speaker 6: And when he's complaining about the nice weather, and then
- 1:49:02Speaker 6: the first day it's cold today, he's like, I'm gonna.
- 1:49:03Speaker 3: Go upstairs, you know.
- 1:49:06Speaker 9: Yeah, I don't care if I stayed inside in the building.
- 1:49:08Speaker 5: I don't care for the cold.
- 1:49:09Speaker 3: You don't care for the cold, No, you're up here.
- 1:49:11Speaker 5: Went to college in Ithaca, New York.
- 1:49:13Speaker 9: Don't care for the cold in California.
- 1:49:15Speaker 3: But did you care for practice? Today?
- 1:49:17Speaker 5: Practice was? Practice was upbeat? Today?
- 1:49:20Speaker 3: Upbeat? I would say there was a mood, a discernible
- 1:49:23Speaker 3: mood shift.
- 1:49:24Speaker 5: There was a mood shift a little bit. I wouldn't
- 1:49:27Speaker 5: you know, I don't want to exaggerate too much, but
- 1:49:30Speaker 5: definitely enough beat practice and uh, I thought, uh, whoever
- 1:49:33Speaker 5: was on the ox cord is doing a great job
- 1:49:35Speaker 5: getting some nice tunes in there too to fire the
- 1:49:38Speaker 5: group up. And it was good to see Kyle Duggar
- 1:49:41Speaker 5: back at practice. Whoever was on the what the OX cord? Like,
- 1:49:45Speaker 5: you're the phone rug into the speaker and then you
- 1:49:48Speaker 5: play the music through the chord and OX yeah, a UX.
- 1:49:51Speaker 4: Yeah, this is the cord. Tell me how you dress?
- 1:49:54Speaker 3: And that's what the kids say.
- 1:49:55Speaker 5: Yeah, well that's what I said. I gotta be honest,
- 1:49:59Speaker 5: I don't know what the kids say these days now
- 1:50:01Speaker 5: you have you have Bluetooth and things like that.
- 1:50:04Speaker 4: Yeah, you know, I've.
- 1:50:06Speaker 3: Never heard that before. I just like, who's on the playlist?
- 1:50:09Speaker 5: I've heard that, who's on the ox? It's kind of
- 1:50:11Speaker 5: like the cord because, like you know, that was the
- 1:50:14Speaker 5: first time that you could go phone to car speakers
- 1:50:17Speaker 5: was with the OX cord or the tape decks. Really
- 1:50:20Speaker 5: was the first time.
- 1:50:20Speaker 9: But I still have to do that on their car's bluetooth.
- 1:50:23Speaker 5: Now it's bluetooth.
- 1:50:24Speaker 6: You don't need the cord, right, not so everybody if
- 1:50:26Speaker 6: your car was made fifteen that's our yeah.
- 1:50:28Speaker 5: Anyways, anyway, yeah, kids these.
- 1:50:31Speaker 3: Days, I don't know yes practice to talk about.
- 1:50:33Speaker 5: So the good news for the Patriots on the practice
- 1:50:36Speaker 5: field is that Kyle Duggar was back at practice today.
- 1:50:40Speaker 5: So that was the first time we have seen him
- 1:50:41Speaker 5: in quite a while since that ankle injury flared up
- 1:50:44Speaker 5: a couple.
- 1:50:45Speaker 4: Of weeks ago.
- 1:50:46Speaker 5: So he was back. Yanique in Gokway is I guess
- 1:50:50Speaker 5: how you say it, not like Ariani, it's yani Yi. Yeah.
- 1:50:54Speaker 5: So Yanique in Gocway was that practice as well? Sporting
- 1:50:57Speaker 5: a Joshua fifty five. Uh, so he is was practicing
- 1:51:02Speaker 5: and participating. And I don't know if you guys spoke
- 1:51:04Speaker 5: about what he said before practice already.
- 1:51:07Speaker 3: Mike was talking about it.
- 1:51:08Speaker 5: Yeah, and uh, but quite a few absences, so uh,
- 1:51:13Speaker 5: Taki not there, absent with we believe a hamstring injury.
- 1:51:19Speaker 5: Marcella's dial it seems like he's in concussion protocol. Uh,
- 1:51:22Speaker 5: he was out of practice today. Whise absent, some lower
- 1:51:27Speaker 5: leg issues there. And then one that we are not
- 1:51:30Speaker 5: one hundred percent sure about is Isaiah Bolden, who was
- 1:51:33Speaker 5: also not at practice today. So four guys missing on
- 1:51:36Speaker 5: the defensive side of the ball from practice. And it's
- 1:51:39Speaker 5: a little bummer about Taki Talkie because I thought that
- 1:51:41Speaker 5: he played decent in the game and now he's heard of.
- 1:51:43Speaker 3: Get what he's listed as.
- 1:51:45Speaker 9: Yeah, what did you think of what Gakway said?
- 1:51:48Speaker 4: I liked it.
- 1:51:49Speaker 5: I liked the Jags comparison. I thought that was about
- 1:51:52Speaker 5: as uh oh. So I didn't share that part of
- 1:51:54Speaker 5: good answers he possibly could have given in that situation.
- 1:51:58Speaker 5: So he was obviously asked about the elephant in the
- 1:52:00Speaker 5: room of he went from the Ravens and potentially the
- 1:52:03Speaker 5: number one seed to the Patriots, who are obviously not
- 1:52:07Speaker 5: in the same spot. And he mentioned getting drafted by
- 1:52:10Speaker 5: the Jaguars in twenty sixteen and twenty sixteen they went
- 1:52:14Speaker 5: three and thirteen under Doug Moron and the next year
- 1:52:16Speaker 5: they were in the AFC Championship Game. So that was
- 1:52:19Speaker 5: his answer his response to being here on more of
- 1:52:23Speaker 5: a rebuilding team versus on a team that has Super
- 1:52:26Speaker 5: Bowl aspirations.
- 1:52:27Speaker 3: Okay, so he's thinking about being here more than just
- 1:52:30Speaker 3: this season.
- 1:52:31Speaker 5: Yeah about that too.
- 1:52:32Speaker 6: I mean, nothing has happened, but that was interesting to
- 1:52:35Speaker 6: me of of, you know, maybe maybe they are considering
- 1:52:38Speaker 6: trying to keep them on.
- 1:52:38Speaker 9: I mean, we'll see what he has to has left
- 1:52:40Speaker 9: in the tank first.
- 1:52:41Speaker 3: Getting back to the practice, I know they weren't practicing,
- 1:52:45Speaker 3: but any sighting of Christian Barmore or Cole Strange.
- 1:52:49Speaker 5: No, so he saw both of them in the locker
- 1:52:51Speaker 5: room today, but no practice yet for either one of
- 1:52:55Speaker 5: those guys. Uh, so we'll see. I didn't see them
- 1:52:59Speaker 5: walking out at all, even to the upper fields because
- 1:53:02Speaker 5: we were on the lower fields today, so a little
- 1:53:05Speaker 5: bit different setup. But no, I didn't I didn't see
- 1:53:07Speaker 5: any either of those guys present at practice.
- 1:53:10Speaker 6: I was kind of surprised that Jerrod said that Cole
- 1:53:13Speaker 6: was behind Barmore, Like I thought that was kind of interesting,
- 1:53:16Speaker 6: because I mean, time is running out, like I don't know,
- 1:53:18Speaker 6: I just it's like, yeah, getting to the point of
- 1:53:21Speaker 6: like now or never, like one of the last three
- 1:53:22Speaker 6: games or something.
- 1:53:23Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:53:24Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 1:53:24Speaker 3: We were talking earlier about Gerard's press conference this morning
- 1:53:28Speaker 3: and he made it a point to compliment a VP
- 1:53:31Speaker 3: in his development of Drake May so far. Did that
- 1:53:34Speaker 3: ruffle the feathers of your media cohorts?
- 1:53:37Speaker 5: No, No, I don't think it ruffled any feathers. I
- 1:53:42Speaker 5: agree with them, Like.
- 1:53:43Speaker 3: We've said it on the show. Somebody's doing a good
- 1:53:45Speaker 3: job with Drake, but some of your friends in the
- 1:53:48Speaker 3: media may not agree with that.
- 1:53:51Speaker 5: No, I didn't hear any of that. There's nothing. Not
- 1:53:54Speaker 5: a lot of conversations about that. Some of the conversations
- 1:53:57Speaker 5: we were having were more centered around the players. You know,
- 1:54:00Speaker 5: Mike on went who and his performance so far, Ramandrie
- 1:54:04Speaker 5: Stevenson's performance on Sunday and everybody. They do their own
- 1:54:08Speaker 5: process of their review and then we come back on
- 1:54:11Speaker 5: Wednesday as usually and people, you know, what do you
- 1:54:13Speaker 5: think about this?
- 1:54:14Speaker 3: Greg?
- 1:54:14Speaker 5: But darts say, I have not read that practice. He
- 1:54:19Speaker 5: was not at practice. He ever come to practice, training
- 1:54:23Speaker 5: camp and training camp.
- 1:54:24Speaker 3: But I'm talking about now.
- 1:54:25Speaker 5: Uh No, But I do see him in the like.
- 1:54:29Speaker 3: That he doesn't come to practice.
- 1:54:30Speaker 5: That's you have to ask him.
- 1:54:32Speaker 9: Doesn't see the point in it. It's just gonna be.
- 1:54:35Speaker 9: It's who's there, who's not there, That's about it.
- 1:54:37Speaker 3: I get the sense he doesn't like everybody in the
- 1:54:39Speaker 3: media corps.
- 1:54:40Speaker 5: Oh, he did give me a nice shout out yesterday.
- 1:54:43Speaker 3: I appreciated that because even during training camp he would
- 1:54:46Speaker 3: not be with them, he would be separate.
- 1:54:48Speaker 9: Well, he don't want to be distracted, you gotta watch it.
- 1:54:50Speaker 5: Well, it's all about the vantage point.
- 1:54:52Speaker 3: Yeah, I guess, I don't know.
- 1:54:54Speaker 9: It's like me and I haven't sitting up top we're
- 1:54:55Speaker 9: talking about.
- 1:54:58Speaker 4: So I want to catch you up.
- 1:55:00Speaker 3: He could have Greg could have come up and sat
- 1:55:02Speaker 3: with us. I would have been happy to have him
- 1:55:04Speaker 3: with us. Tell him if he wants to come up.
- 1:55:07Speaker 4: He's been up there, I know.
- 1:55:09Speaker 3: But if he wants to watch practice from where we watch.
- 1:55:11Speaker 4: The perfectly saying that's what he has. He has in
- 1:55:14Speaker 4: the summer, he was up there, he was down on
- 1:55:16Speaker 4: the side.
- 1:55:16Speaker 3: Oh, I saw him down below.
- 1:55:18Speaker 4: He's down there as well. Yeah, but he's he's been
- 1:55:21Speaker 4: up there. So we had a call that wanted to add,
- 1:55:25Speaker 4: ask you Will Campbell or Banks, which one you like
- 1:55:29Speaker 4: the best? I said, would say that whichever one has
- 1:55:33Speaker 4: thirty three or longer in charms.
- 1:55:36Speaker 5: Yeah, that's gonna be big. I mean, look, the big
- 1:55:39Speaker 5: thing with both those guys is that they play the
- 1:55:41Speaker 5: position a little bit differently. So I think it's more
- 1:55:44Speaker 5: about maybe what you're looking for in terms of flavor
- 1:55:47Speaker 5: of style of play. Will Campbell's a little bit more
- 1:55:50Speaker 5: of that, you know, lighter on his feed dancing bear type,
- 1:55:53Speaker 5: whereas Calvin Banks is more of a mauling type of tackle.
- 1:55:56Speaker 5: A very strong guy can move people in the run game.
- 1:55:59Speaker 5: But it's going to come down to that day in
- 1:56:01Speaker 5: February when they pull out the tape measure and they
- 1:56:03Speaker 5: measure their arms.
- 1:56:04Speaker 3: So we got a call while you were gone to
- 1:56:06Speaker 3: Cody from Okay, well you go ahead.
- 1:56:09Speaker 4: Jeez, go ahead, That's exactly what I was going to say.
- 1:56:11Speaker 3: Okay, we got a call from a person from West Virginia.
- 1:56:14Speaker 3: Big you know, West Virginia fan. He said, there's a
- 1:56:17Speaker 3: kid projected tackle in the second round probably who is
- 1:56:22Speaker 3: rating for past protection and run is like in the Yeah,
- 1:56:28Speaker 3: and he said that's rare.
- 1:56:29Speaker 4: No pressure is allowed.
- 1:56:31Speaker 3: He's statistically, I forget the players.
- 1:56:35Speaker 5: Maybe what you're cee. He it might be him from Minnesota.
- 1:56:39Speaker 9: Yeah, you know, no West Virginia.
- 1:56:41Speaker 5: From West Virginia.
- 1:56:43Speaker 3: Maybe what's the kid from West Virginia?
- 1:56:45Speaker 9: The kids west from West Virginia.
- 1:56:46Speaker 4: He said it was a West Virginia here.
- 1:56:47Speaker 3: Yeah, West Virginia player.
- 1:56:49Speaker 5: Oh, I don't know.
- 1:56:50Speaker 4: He said he might be a little guilty of being
- 1:56:52Speaker 4: a little bit of a homer, but that's how we prefaced.
- 1:56:54Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, high mid eighties for both run and past.
- 1:56:58Speaker 5: Interesting. Yeah, look, I I would just say from not
- 1:57:01Speaker 5: to pick on anybody the call or anything, but but
- 1:57:04Speaker 5: you will pressures in college. I just I don't think
- 1:57:08Speaker 5: that they really add much to the conversation.
- 1:57:11Speaker 3: Wyatt Milo Okay, yeah, I know, I.
- 1:57:13Speaker 5: Know, I know he's talking about now. I don't think
- 1:57:18Speaker 5: pressures in college is a great way to assess the
- 1:57:21Speaker 5: offensive lineman in college because of the types of offenses
- 1:57:24Speaker 5: that they play at the college level. They are air
- 1:57:28Speaker 5: raid offenses where they get the ball out quickly and
- 1:57:32Speaker 5: they're they're splits in the way that they pass set
- 1:57:35Speaker 5: is definitely different than what they're going to do at
- 1:57:36Speaker 5: the NFL level. It does make it difficult at times
- 1:57:39Speaker 5: to evaluate them because they have so few pro style
- 1:57:43Speaker 5: pass sets a season that it's it's hard.
- 1:57:46Speaker 4: So that's why I made a comment about the Big twelve.
- 1:57:48Speaker 4: A lot of offenses operate that way.
- 1:57:50Speaker 5: Right, So, you know, not take anything away from the player,
- 1:57:53Speaker 5: but if the guy's getting the ball out in two
- 1:57:56Speaker 5: point two seconds, you need they're throwing a bunch of bubble
- 1:57:58Speaker 5: screens all the time, then you're obviously not going to
- 1:58:01Speaker 5: have the exposures to allow pressure but I'll definitely check
- 1:58:04Speaker 5: him out. And I know, yeah, the other guy is
- 1:58:07Speaker 5: I always pronounce his name wrong. I think it's Minnesota,
- 1:58:12Speaker 5: who's a really raw, athletic freak of a tackle that
- 1:58:16Speaker 5: has checks all the measure bles and athleticism boxes, but
- 1:58:19Speaker 5: just need some seasoning. So he's the other guy that's
- 1:58:22Speaker 5: starting to creep up into this conversation as well.
- 1:58:24Speaker 3: All right, right, let's do a couple of calls. We're
- 1:58:27Speaker 3: coming to the end, but we'll get some people off
- 1:58:30Speaker 3: because I know we've got to get out of here
- 1:58:32Speaker 3: for Rook in the playbook, which is coming up next.
- 1:58:36Speaker 3: Let's go to Henry in Yorkshire. What's up Henry?
- 1:58:39Speaker 10: Al Right, guys with the show. I was just in't
- 1:58:42Speaker 10: called up for yesterday's show, and it was interested in.
- 1:58:46Speaker 10: Havant said, I think they're playing man coverage for five
- 1:58:49Speaker 10: percent of the time. The secondized in the league when
- 1:58:53Speaker 10: mixed up, well, historicalist is the secondize in the league.
- 1:58:56Speaker 10: But he just sounded a little bit well, but I've
- 1:58:58Speaker 10: all got me thinking about how in the summer and
- 1:59:00Speaker 10: A want to talk about how Van Pell wants to
- 1:59:02Speaker 10: playoff then don't really remember that about and defense? And
- 1:59:07Speaker 10: I was just wondering ten weeks and what have you
- 1:59:10Speaker 10: seen in terms of how this points I want to
- 1:59:12Speaker 10: play the expense. What's your thoughts on that? And then
- 1:59:14Speaker 10: my other question was how a concience to the news left?
- 1:59:18Speaker 10: And I'll check it off one cheer good, All right, I.
- 1:59:20Speaker 3: Might understand a word of that. And it wasn't just
- 1:59:23Speaker 3: as he had kind of a weird It wasn't the accident.
- 1:59:26Speaker 3: It was the connection.
- 1:59:27Speaker 9: It was like it was a combination of the two.
- 1:59:29Speaker 5: Did anyone understand I think he was talking about Van Pelt.
- 1:59:31Speaker 4: I heard van Pelt in the middle of it, but
- 1:59:33Speaker 4: that's about the only two words.
- 1:59:35Speaker 9: Like in Bruce like it's like they have like the
- 1:59:37Speaker 9: really thick.
- 1:59:39Speaker 3: I'm not going to pretend I understood what he said.
- 1:59:41Speaker 7: I'm not.
- 1:59:42Speaker 4: Now I feel bad.
- 1:59:43Speaker 5: I'm just going to assume he was asking about how
- 1:59:45Speaker 5: van pell our opinions on Van Pelt.
- 1:59:48Speaker 3: We already talked about that.
- 1:59:49Speaker 4: Yeah, I feel bad because I just assumed that was
- 1:59:52Speaker 4: the only one.
- 1:59:52Speaker 3: That wasn't really it wasn't just his his accident. It
- 1:59:56Speaker 3: was like the connection was kind of in and out
- 1:59:58Speaker 3: a little bit. So sorry about that. Henry Elj is
- 2:00:02Speaker 3: in North Carolina, what's up, Eldred?
- 2:00:05Speaker 9: Hey, the show whatever here so far? Like me, gimme
- 2:00:11Speaker 9: Higgins and gimme t Matt and that guy.
- 2:00:13Speaker 12: From with Virginia, Minnesota. I would try to get him
- 2:00:15Speaker 12: in the stuck round.
- 2:00:16Speaker 13: To the tackles on them.
- 2:00:18Speaker 3: It's a guy from West Virginia.
- 2:00:20Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 2:00:21Speaker 5: Well, so the guy you're city is going to be
- 2:00:24Speaker 5: a top twenty twenty five pick, like he's not going
- 2:00:27Speaker 5: in the second round. But the guy from West Virginia, mate,
- 2:00:30Speaker 5: So that could be someone that they could if they
- 2:00:33Speaker 5: have you know, I don't know, thirty seven or thirty
- 2:00:35Speaker 5: eight in the second round or something like that that
- 2:00:37Speaker 5: they could target. But the cave from Minnesota is going
- 2:00:40Speaker 5: to be the high draft.
- 2:00:41Speaker 3: Thanks, Aldred. And one more before we leave, Courtney's in Houston.
- 2:00:44Speaker 3: What's up Courtney? Courtney? Oh and then we probably thought
- 2:00:52Speaker 3: she wasn't gonna get out there. All right. That's it
