- 0:03Speaker 1: Wake up.
- 0:05Speaker 1: next to.
- 0:07Speaker 1: Kicking off your day in the best way. It's Sonia
- 0:09Speaker 1: and Joakim on the shock circuit. Well, good morning and
- 0:13Speaker 1: welcome to the show. Hope you're having a great midweek
- 0:15Speaker 1: so far. I think loads of students are coming down
- 0:18Speaker 1: to Teachers' Day. It's a holiday on Friday, 4th September, Sonia.
- 0:22Speaker 1: Oh my goodness. Well, on behalf of us here at 987,
- 0:25Speaker 1: we love you teachers. Earlier I mentioned, you might be
- 0:29Speaker 1: familiar with this song.
- 0:35Speaker 1: Of course, it's called Golden from Hendrix, EJ Audrey Nuna,
- 0:41Speaker 1: and Ray Amy, but can I play you 47 seconds
- 0:45Speaker 1: of a singer whose vocals are definitely God-given, and she
- 0:49Speaker 1: has a talk show. She performs on it live as well,
- 0:52Speaker 1: some covers.
- 0:53Speaker 1: Songs and she has decided to take on Golden. Give
- 0:57Speaker 1: it up for Kelly Clarkson. Here is playing you the
- 1:00Speaker 1: pre-chorus and the chorus, and she did this live, no auto-tune,
- 1:05Speaker 1: nothing with a full band backing. Have a listen.
- 1:22Speaker 1: Here comes the chorus.
- 1:38Speaker 1: And if you're wondering, can she hit the note? Listen.
- 1:55Speaker 1: Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, put some respect on
- 1:59Speaker 1: Kelly Clarkson's name. The first ever American Idol, and she's
- 2:05Speaker 1: really God-given pure talent. And honestly, you watch Kelly Clarkson
- 2:10Speaker 1: do it, and when you watch Huntricks do it, Hun
- 2:12Speaker 1: tricks have to bring the song down a key, and
- 2:15Speaker 1: sometimes EJ
- 2:16Speaker 1: And, and with all due respect to EJ's talent, you
- 2:19Speaker 1: can tell that there's a little bit of a struggle
- 2:22Speaker 1: to hit the high note, and Kelly Clarkson herself, after
- 2:26Speaker 1: she performs that song live, she goes on an interview
- 2:29Speaker 1: saying this song is very high and to hit that
- 2:32Speaker 1: really high note, the born to be part, she had
- 2:35Speaker 1: to really give it her all and locked in. So,
- 2:38Speaker 1: there you go. If you wanna
- 2:39Speaker 1: Watch the performance is fully available for you on YouTube.
- 2:42Speaker 1: We just want to give a big shout out to
- 2:43Speaker 1: Kettridge Secondary School. We promised you a shout out before
- 2:46Speaker 1: 7 a.m. So whoever's listening in, whoever's awake right now,
- 2:50Speaker 1: this one's for you. I still cannot believe that was
- 2:52Speaker 1: a school you relieve taught at. I know, I like
- 2:55Speaker 1: think it was starting to come back to me as
- 2:57Speaker 1: I walked the halls. Did it look the same to
- 2:59Speaker 1: you as it did all those years ago? Um, OK, like.
- 3:02Speaker 1: The layout is very similar, like it's pretty much the same,
- 3:05Speaker 1: but they've obviously maintained it and spruced it up, you know.
- 3:09Speaker 1: But yeah, um, I think there probably wasn't like air
- 3:12Speaker 1: conditioning in the, in the halls back when we were
- 3:15Speaker 1: in school actually. Wait, the halls were air-conditioned? Were they?
- 3:18Speaker 1: I thought, I thought it was because I was perspiring nonetheless.
- 3:21Speaker 1: I think it was air conditioned, but.
- 3:25Speaker 1: Didn't feel it. Actually, wait, was it? Now I'm like, wait,
- 3:28Speaker 1: am I remembering it wrong? It's OK. This entire morning,
- 3:31Speaker 1: we've been consumed by news of closures and this is
- 3:35Speaker 1: a major one, I feel.
- 3:37Speaker 1: Um, I used to love going here, especially when after
- 3:39Speaker 1: I got my bike during COVID times, right, a lot
- 3:42Speaker 1: of people upgraded their bicycles or got, um, or took
- 3:46Speaker 1: their bicycle out from storage and started cycling and rollerblading, right?
- 3:49Speaker 1: So I took mine out and I was like, alright, like, um,
- 3:53Speaker 1: let's do a, a very long East Coast cycle.
- 3:57Speaker 1: Um, when it was reintroduced that, you know, you can
- 3:59Speaker 1: start hanging out in small groups out there and uh
- 4:02Speaker 1: you can go out and do your activities and stuff,
- 4:04Speaker 1: and then all the food courts started opening and everything, right?
- 4:07Speaker 1: So we decided to go on a very long cycle
- 4:09Speaker 1: from one end of East Coast all the way to
- 4:12Speaker 1: Sahi by the Bay. So we ended.
- 4:14Speaker 1: by the bay and then we eat dinner there. That's
- 4:16Speaker 1: about 11 to 12 km. Yeah, I think if you
- 4:19Speaker 1: start from East Coast Food Lagoon. Um, yes, actually we
- 4:23Speaker 1: started around there. Yeah. So you know those, um, there
- 4:26Speaker 1: are so many of those bike rental shops, right? So
- 4:28Speaker 1: my friends rented some bikes and then we, we went
- 4:30Speaker 1: all the way straight.
- 4:31Speaker 1: So it was, you know, you stop here and there,
- 4:33Speaker 1: appreciate the beauty of East Coast. Wait, hang on. So
- 4:37Speaker 1: you cycle to the Makan place and then you cycle
- 4:41Speaker 1: back and you cycle back because my friends didn't have,
- 4:43Speaker 1: two of my friends didn't have bicycles. Yeah, whereas, um,
- 4:47Speaker 1: some of us already had our own, and this was
- 4:49Speaker 1: just before the wheel and Ride bike.
- 4:53Speaker 1: Um, Singapore, OK, actually, I would say that wouldn't be
- 4:58Speaker 1: any wheel and old bikes or whatever other bikes there are.
- 5:01Speaker 1: I don't think that would be your number one choice
- 5:03Speaker 1: at a park because when you go to the park,
- 5:06Speaker 1: they already have those bike rental shops where those bikes
- 5:09Speaker 1: are better suited for this kind of, you know, casual riding.
- 5:12Speaker 1: And they have gears as well, especially if you're going
- 5:14Speaker 1: uphill and yeah. Anyway, exactly. So you might need, you
- 5:19Speaker 1: might need to drop gear or increase your gear, right?
- 5:22Speaker 1: But we would cycle all the way to Satiy by
- 5:24Speaker 1: the Bay and we enjoyed like the food that was
- 5:26Speaker 1: so good. We just sat there, chilled out, you know. Unfortunately,
- 5:29Speaker 1: all those memories will soon be gone because Saay by
- 5:32Speaker 1: the Bay is closing down from the first of October.
- 5:35Speaker 1: That is it for them. Um, there's gonna be a
- 5:38Speaker 1: new attraction to replace it.
- 5:41Speaker 1: And it's called Wetlands by the Bay, Joakim.
- 5:45Speaker 1: I am very curious to understand why it's called Wetlands
- 5:49Speaker 1: by the Bay and what else is going to be
- 5:51Speaker 1: opening in Wetlands by the Bay as they reveal more
- 5:55Speaker 1: plans very soon. So are they giving the Marina Bay
- 5:58Speaker 1: area like the Sungai Bulo treatment? Yeah, I think they're
- 6:01Speaker 1: sprucing it up, but here's what's happening, OK. Wetlands by
- 6:04Speaker 1: the Bay measures about 7 football fields. It's massive. They're
- 6:08Speaker 1: opening in stages from the end of 2028. So for
- 6:12Speaker 1: quite some time, you won't see anything there.
- 6:14Speaker 1: Um, Say by the bay, the car park and a
- 6:17Speaker 1: nursery will be absorbed along with the existing Kingfisher wetlands,
- 6:21Speaker 1: which is in the same area. It is 1/3 of
- 6:24Speaker 1: the size of the soon to be completed wetlands by
- 6:27Speaker 1: the bay. So this is gonna, it's gonna incorporate into
- 6:30Speaker 1: Wetlands by the Bay.
- 6:33Speaker 1: options. There'll be a new two-story dining block to open
- 6:35Speaker 1: in 2028. They will replace Say by the Bay. So
- 6:39Speaker 1: to tourists and to Singaporeans alike, if you're looking for
- 6:43Speaker 1: by the bay options, there's Gluttons by the Bay over
- 6:45Speaker 1: at Esplanade which requires you to walk for a little
- 6:48Speaker 1: while or maybe even La Pasar.
- 6:51Speaker 1: Yeah, but Gluttons by the Bay is much smaller, I
- 6:53Speaker 1: would say. They have good food too, but much smaller
- 6:56Speaker 1: because Say by the Bay actually could, I think it
- 6:59Speaker 1: was 1000 packs could fit in there if I'm not wrong,
- 7:02Speaker 1: if I'm not wrong, like you can seat 1000 people.
- 7:05Speaker 1: One thing's for sure.
- 7:07Speaker 1: Walk past Satays by the Bay after passing Marina Barrage, right?
- 7:10Speaker 1: You feel tempted to stop and eat, right? I mean, yes,
- 7:13Speaker 1: sometimes at East Coast Food Lagoon as well, the smell
- 7:15Speaker 1: of the food, the local food, you just want to
- 7:18Speaker 1: stop and eat and forget or run already. I mean,
- 7:21Speaker 1: I've done that before at Zion Road. Um, I stopped.
- 7:25Speaker 1: And one more time, I went for a run in
- 7:28Speaker 1: Pasir Ris when I used to live there with a
- 7:30Speaker 1: friend and um we, we ran straight to the bar
- 7:34Speaker 1: at Pasir Ris Park to have a beer. We stopped
- 7:37Speaker 1: for a beer there and we never started running again.
- 7:39Speaker 1: And by the way, just to close off with letting
- 7:42Speaker 1: you know some of the stalls that used to be
- 7:44Speaker 1: at Say by the Bay, they, they've moved over to,
- 7:47Speaker 1: I think Clark Quay Club and around the area, so
- 7:50Speaker 1: look out for them or maybe even on the stall.
- 7:52Speaker 1: Notice board, have a look. Clark Keys, shut down I
- 7:56Speaker 1: think in 2025, my bad. Yeah, so maybe they found
- 8:01Speaker 1: themselves another home. But if you're a loyal follower, I'm
- 8:03Speaker 1: sure you would have followed where they went already. There
- 8:05Speaker 1: we go. Unfortunately though, maybe Marina Square as of March
- 8:10Speaker 1: 2027 next year, it's officially closing for a major redevelopment project.
- 8:17Speaker 1: Like the entire place including the new.
- 8:20Speaker 1: The newer section. It should be. It's gonna be making
- 8:23Speaker 1: way for a mixed-use development. So I'm looking at the
- 8:26Speaker 1: artist's impression right now, right? It's gonna be luxury homes, ah,
- 8:31Speaker 1: like an apartment upstairs, mall downstairs, a new hotel and
- 8:35Speaker 1: office spaces, and it's slated to be completed in 2031. Wow, that,
- 8:41Speaker 1: that's a long one. Yeah, so, you know, the whole
- 8:44Speaker 1: entire NS Square area, Marina Square area, there's.
- 8:47Speaker 1: There's going to be plenty of construction works happening, so
- 8:50Speaker 1: be extra careful, especially if you're running there from now
- 8:53Speaker 1: till 2031. Actually, I think the biggest question that I
- 8:57Speaker 1: have um is that there are a lot of high-end
- 9:00Speaker 1: hotels that are directly linked to Marina Square. Yeah, so
- 9:03Speaker 1: how are they going to handle that? The hotels will
- 9:05Speaker 1: still operate. Yeah, yeah, for sure. I think it's, there's
- 9:09Speaker 1: a Park Royal Marina. There's Mandarin is around the area.
- 9:13Speaker 1: Ritz is right next to it.
- 9:14Speaker 1: Exactly. So I mean, not that they will be affected
- 9:17Speaker 1: in terms of business, but there will be a lot
- 9:19Speaker 1: of construction around the area and also it could be
- 9:29Speaker 1: useful for them because they didn't say they're opening at
- 9:31Speaker 1: Marina Square. Oh, they are. Is it a hotel? I
- 9:34Speaker 1: thought it was residential. There's gonna be new luxury homes
- 9:36Speaker 1: and a new hotel all in one. OK, OK. Well,
- 9:40Speaker 1: that will be interesting to see.
- 9:41Speaker 1: Speaking of luxury homes, well, if you buy a place
- 9:45Speaker 1: there and it's facing NS Square, that's June, July, August,
- 9:50Speaker 1: you get free fireworks on Saturdays. But other than that,
- 9:53Speaker 1: you get NS boys, right? Hey, it's quite a sight,
- 9:56Speaker 1: you know, when they march in there to, yeah, yeah,
- 9:58Speaker 1: I know, I know. So don't forget NS Square will
- 10:00Speaker 1: be the future homes for NDP and also I think
- 10:03Speaker 1: for the passing out parade. Yeah, that would be cool.
- 10:05Speaker 1: I don't think I've actually ever attended a passing out parade.
- 10:09Speaker 1: Like in person. Do you have any nephews that are
- 10:12Speaker 1: gonna go national service very soon? No.
- 10:16Speaker 1: No, dude.
- 10:18Speaker 1: Not at all. It's OK. Anyway, I wonder whether they
- 10:22Speaker 1: will still call it Marina Square or will they change
- 10:24Speaker 1: the name. I don't know. Yeah, they might change it
- 10:28Speaker 1: seeing how there's so many things going on. It's gonna
- 10:30Speaker 1: be for sure. Yeah, yeah. You remember not too long ago,
- 10:34Speaker 1: the film Dear You sparked off really good conversations, I
- 10:37Speaker 1: would say.
- 10:38Speaker 1: About the screening of movies and shows that contain dialects,
- 10:42Speaker 1: and I was being very careful how I worded it
- 10:45Speaker 1: because of the rules here in Singapore, but I did
- 10:48Speaker 1: say it's annoying when you watch a movie and that's
- 10:52Speaker 1: filmed in a completely different language from what you're hearing. Yeah,
- 10:56Speaker 1: I know, I know, and, and I'm not, I'm not
- 10:58Speaker 1: gonna lie, being a voice actor and dubbing over is
- 11:01Speaker 1: very hard. Yeah, it's very hard because
- 11:03Speaker 1: They weren't the ones acting in the show. They don't,
- 11:06Speaker 1: as much as they try to encapsulate the emotions, it
- 11:09Speaker 1: might never be the same, you know. And also it's
- 11:11Speaker 1: quite annoying when you see the characters' mouths moving and
- 11:13Speaker 1: it doesn't sync up with the audio, right? I know
- 11:15Speaker 1: it's my pet peeve is wrong. Um, when it comes
- 11:18Speaker 1: to foreign language films, I want to watch it in
- 11:20Speaker 1: their language. Then I'll just take the effort to read
- 11:23Speaker 1: the subtitles. I can't French, German, I don't know, Finnish
- 11:28Speaker 1: or Danish.
- 11:29Speaker 1: We want to watch it as it was filmed. It's like,
- 11:32Speaker 1: do you remember Money Heist, that Netflix show? Spanish. It
- 11:36Speaker 1: was in Spanish. So it's so funny because I don't
- 11:38Speaker 1: know why my default settings went into like English dubbing immediately.
- 11:42Speaker 1: So it was so odd and because I think Spanish
- 11:46Speaker 1: and English, sometimes it, it looks quite similar in terms
- 11:49Speaker 1: of the mouth movement. It took me like 2 or
- 11:52Speaker 1: 3 episodes to realize I was watching it dubbed.
- 11:55Speaker 1: Then I was like, OK, hold up, I need to
- 11:57Speaker 1: switch it now. I knew something was off. I mean,
- 12:00Speaker 1: imagine watching Netflix's Narcos in in full English, other languages
- 12:07Speaker 1: the seriousness isn't there, you know, the attitude, yeah. But, uh,
- 12:10Speaker 1: you know, I think the whole, the whole situation with
- 12:13Speaker 1: dear you, it sparked off very healthy conversations here in Singapore, especially.
- 12:18Speaker 1: And I think it has also kicked off a bit
- 12:20Speaker 1: of a trend. Our friends over at Golden Village, they're
- 12:23Speaker 1: about to screen the 1990 movie from Hong Kong called
- 12:28Speaker 1: Days of Being Wild by renowned, the renowned Wong Kar-wai,
- 12:32Speaker 1: as you already know, um, in its original Cantonese language
- 12:36Speaker 1: from the 11th to 13th of September.
- 12:39Speaker 1: And it's in commemoration of the late legendary Hong Kong
- 12:42Speaker 1: actor Leslie Cheung. Um, he would have turned 70 this year. Oh, beautiful.
- 12:48Speaker 1: So for a limited time, limited screening, I'm pretty sure
- 12:50Speaker 1: the cinema halls will sell out very quickly. And you know,
- 12:54Speaker 1: I did not realize Leslie Chungg passed away so young. Um,
- 12:58Speaker 1: your parents, our parents would know, I think.
- 13:00Speaker 1: Of Leslie Chung. I've heard his name before. Um, apparently
- 13:03Speaker 1: his birthday falls on the 12th of September. He passed
- 13:06Speaker 1: away in April of 2003. He was only 46. Yeah,
- 13:10Speaker 1: he was only 46. It's unclear and I'm not sure why,
- 13:13Speaker 1: maybe an illness or I'm not entirely sure. But, um,
- 13:16Speaker 1: this is a great way of revisiting films that are
- 13:19Speaker 1: very hard to find on.
- 13:21Speaker 1: You know, your streaming platforms. Most of them don't contain
- 13:24Speaker 1: a lot of these vintage films. And by the way,
- 13:26Speaker 1: when we say dialect, not just for the Mandarin language Hokkien, Teo,
- 13:31Speaker 1: Cantonese and all sorts of other things, we also hope
- 13:35Speaker 1: that maybe in the Indian language or the Bahasa Malaya,
- 13:38Speaker 1: if there's dialect for any of these, yeah, we hope
- 13:41Speaker 1: it's screened in cinemas. Yes, yeah, I think it's gonna
- 13:44Speaker 1: be applied.
- 13:46Speaker 1: that's it, asking for a friend. Can they, can they
- 13:50Speaker 1: screen the IP Man again in the original language? I
- 13:53Speaker 1: want to watch it in canto, man. No, no, no.
- 13:56Speaker 1: You know what, that's the only line you know, right? Um,
- 13:59Speaker 1: I think that they're onto something, and it, it could
- 14:02Speaker 1: be a different revenue income stream for our friends in
- 14:05Speaker 1: the cinemas or Golden Village, especially. Um, just FYI, English
- 14:08Speaker 1: and Chinese subtitles will be available.
- 14:10Speaker 1: Tickets are priced at $22. They start going on sale
- 14:13Speaker 1: from 3:00 p.m. on the 2nd of September, which is today.
- 14:17Speaker 1: We have finally found a way to save the cinemas
- 14:20Speaker 1: in Singapore. Yeah, I believe so as well. So fingers
- 14:23Speaker 1: crossed and I think we're very, very excited collectively to
- 14:27Speaker 1: see more of these vintage films in their original language
- 14:30Speaker 1: come back to the big screen. There we go. OK,
- 14:32Speaker 1: so just uh yesterday actually.
- 14:35Speaker 1: We threw a surprise birthday dinner thing for one of
- 14:38Speaker 1: my close friends who also happens to be my makeup artist.
- 14:41Speaker 1: So happy belated birthday, Benji. Hello, Benji. You know, now
- 14:45Speaker 1: as you're an adult, right, it takes time to, to
- 14:49Speaker 1: bring together like 20 people for a surprise birthday.
- 14:52Speaker 1: It's not easy. Let alone like I did on Monday night. Not,
- 14:56Speaker 1: not easy to find the same date, right? So we,
- 14:59Speaker 1: we sat down after the surprise and everything, it was
- 15:01Speaker 1: a success. We sat down and uh we started chatting,
- 15:04Speaker 1: you know, amongst ourselves because we're all split up right
- 15:06Speaker 1: into 22 or 3 tables. And to my surprise, um,
- 15:11Speaker 1: this was a
- 15:13Speaker 1: This was, this happened more than I expected. Um, quite
- 15:17Speaker 1: a few of the girls at the table said that
- 15:20Speaker 1: their boyfriends slash maybe fiance or husband, they've forgotten their
- 15:25Speaker 1: birthday at least once before. And I was like, seriously, really?
- 15:30Speaker 1: Because I don't think, OK, it's impossible for germs and
- 15:32Speaker 1: I to forget each other's birthdays because they're one day
- 15:34Speaker 1: apart from each other. OK, fine. That one is super easy.
- 15:37Speaker 1: But one of the girls said, yeah, like my, she,
- 15:40Speaker 1: she just got married recently. She said, yeah, my, my
- 15:42Speaker 1: husband's forgotten my birthday at least twice. Yeah, but they're
- 15:46Speaker 1: still married lah. She said, oh, he's just like that.
- 15:48Speaker 1: To my fellow bros, I think if there's one birth
- 15:51Speaker 1: date you don't want to forget, it could be that
- 15:54Speaker 1: of your, maybe your mom and dad, parents for sure
- 15:58Speaker 1: and your partner.
- 16:00Speaker 1: Yeah, and I don't think it's, you know, gender-related, obviously,
- 16:03Speaker 1: but it's just because I was sitting with a bunch
- 16:04Speaker 1: of girls and they were saying, yeah, actually, yeah, my
- 16:07Speaker 1: partner also forgot before. Then I asked, so did they
- 16:10Speaker 1: do anything to make up for it? Like did they
- 16:12Speaker 1: at least plan, did they have something planned?
- 16:15Speaker 1: One of them actually said no, he actually didn't have anything,
- 16:17Speaker 1: but he genuinely forgot. And the funny thing was she
- 16:20Speaker 1: said um they were actually up late the eve of
- 16:24Speaker 1: her birthday. So presumably we think like, oh, at midnight,
- 16:28Speaker 1: maybe your partner will bring out a cake or a
- 16:29Speaker 1: card or something just to celebrate first and then, you know,
- 16:33Speaker 1: the next day, you guys go out and do your
- 16:35Speaker 1: proper thing. But she stared at him when the clock
- 16:38Speaker 1: struck 12, apparently.
- 16:40Speaker 1: And she stared at him and he was like, what?
- 16:42Speaker 1: And then she looked at her watch, she looked at
- 16:44Speaker 1: her watch and she tapped on her watch, like, you know,
- 16:47Speaker 1: indicating that what day is it? What day is it?
- 16:50Speaker 1: And he goes like, what?
- 16:53Speaker 1: And apparently she showed him the phone with the date
- 16:56Speaker 1: on it, and he was like, why, show me your phone.
- 17:00Speaker 1: Do
- 17:02Speaker 1: You actually know this person. I'll tell you who it
- 17:04Speaker 1: is after I turn off the mic. But to which,
- 17:06Speaker 1: you know, we all just burst out laughing, right? And, uh, he,
- 17:10Speaker 1: he realized shortly after that. I think like a few
- 17:13Speaker 1: minutes after that whole thing, he was, you know, very puzzled.
- 17:16Speaker 1: Then it struck him. Last minute booking. That's why, no
- 17:20Speaker 1: choice this one, no choice.
- 17:23Speaker 1: For you, it's a bit of a cheat code because
- 17:25Speaker 1: most of the important birthdays for you happen in December
- 17:28Speaker 1: and your husband's birthday is the day before yours, yeah, yeah,
- 17:32Speaker 1: which is what I just said I just said that
- 17:34Speaker 1: like a minute ago. And then for me, I don't,
- 17:36Speaker 1: I don't forget birthdays easily, especially for my mom, my dad,
- 17:40Speaker 1: my good friends. Yeah, yeah, the people around you. Um, however,
- 17:44Speaker 1: there are some friends who are very, very quiet and
- 17:48Speaker 1: low key about their birthdays, OK.
- 17:50Speaker 1: Um, like they don't plan anything, they don't initiate anything
- 17:53Speaker 1: or say anything about their birthdays, right? And, uh, admittedly,
- 17:57Speaker 1: I have done this before. My, there's this group of
- 18:00Speaker 1: friends that I hang out with, we actually collectively forgot
- 18:03Speaker 1: one of the persons, one of our friends's birthdays in
- 18:05Speaker 1: that group.
- 18:06Speaker 1: And we felt so bad because this guy like doesn't
- 18:10Speaker 1: say anything about his birthday at all. He doesn't say,
- 18:12Speaker 1: hey guys, you want to go for a drink or like,
- 18:14Speaker 1: then at least you know, we can do something also. Um,
- 18:18Speaker 1: and it's not one of those like milestone birthdays that
- 18:20Speaker 1: you would always plan a surprise birthday for. So we were,
- 18:23Speaker 1: we felt really bad and we, we made up for
- 18:25Speaker 1: it after. I kind of realized as I get older,
- 18:29Speaker 1: I'm a bit more low-key in person about my birthday.
- 18:32Speaker 1: Minus few close friends, for example, you, you will ask
- 18:36Speaker 1: me what you want or what are you doing what
- 18:38Speaker 1: you want to do, give me a, you know, nice
- 18:39Speaker 1: steak dinner. My other friends I've always delivered, OK.
- 18:44Speaker 1: I must say you do, you do. And then for
- 18:46Speaker 1: my other friends we just meet for a simple, like,
- 18:48Speaker 1: you know, sometimes sami's curry again or they will bring
- 18:51Speaker 1: me to their own respective nice fancy dinner and all that,
- 18:54Speaker 1: which I really appreciate. Yeah, and the thing is that
- 18:57Speaker 1: you used to love like bigger birthday celebrations, right? When
- 19:00Speaker 1: I was younger, yeah, yeah, it's a very typical Leo thing.
- 19:05Speaker 1: You're on the cast, right? Cancer Leo, right? So yeah,
- 19:08Speaker 1: your Leo side loves big birthdays. Yeah, for sure. So
- 19:12Speaker 1: give us a call 669-11987.
- 19:16Speaker 1: Have you ever forgotten someone's birthday before or has someone
- 19:21Speaker 1: that you consider important to you forgotten yours? Oh, let's
- 19:25Speaker 1: stir the pot here. Share with us, let us know,
- 19:28Speaker 1: and if you don't have any stories to share, you
- 19:30Speaker 1: can also tell us whether or not this is an
- 19:32Speaker 1: ultimate boo boo for you. Like, will you be very
- 19:34Speaker 1: upset if someone forgot your birthday? 669-11987 to call us
- 19:39Speaker 1: or you can WhatsApp us at 90050987. And in exchange,
- 19:43Speaker 1: we've got a wonderful experience thanks to one.
- 19:46Speaker 1: How Chinese Restaurant. This is over at Singapore Marriott Tang
- 19:49Speaker 1: Plaza Hotel. A beautiful, beautiful mooncake set coming your way.
- 19:54Speaker 1: This is worth almost $200. Got a text coming in
- 19:57Speaker 1: from Manda. Morning, Sojo. I don't really care about birthdays.
- 20:03Speaker 1: I just want to celebrate with my close friends and family,
- 20:05Speaker 1: that's all. All I wanted for my birthday is to
- 20:07Speaker 1: eat my mom's longevity vermicelli and red egg. What do
- 20:11Speaker 1: we call this? Do you know? Uh, longevity birthday noodles.
- 20:16Speaker 1: No, I'm serious. They call it birthday noodles. Is there
- 20:19Speaker 1: like a proper name for it? Is it a Mandarin
- 20:22Speaker 1: thing or something? No, no, wait, wait, wait, wait, let
- 20:25Speaker 1: me check. OK, you continue reading your message again. Sonia
- 20:27Speaker 1: is the worst Chinese friend I have. This year. She
- 20:30Speaker 1: experienced kneecap joint pain and I was unable to cook.
- 20:33Speaker 1: I was upset about it, but we ordered Bontongki as
- 20:36Speaker 1: a compensation. We also missed our ritual, ritual.
- 20:39Speaker 1: Zoo visitation for my birthday. Mind you, I'm 30 years
- 20:42Speaker 1: old and I go to the zoo for my birthday
- 20:44Speaker 1: every year just because I love the zoo. My birthday
- 20:48Speaker 1: was last week, 29th of August. Amanda, you have the
- 20:52Speaker 1: same birthday as my mom. Oh really? 29th of August, yes. OK,
- 20:57Speaker 1: so I did a quick search here on Chat GBT.
- 20:59Speaker 1: I said, what are birthday noodles called in Mandarin? They said, um,
- 21:04Speaker 1: Chang sho mian, which is longevity noodles, but then I said,
- 21:08Speaker 1: But what is the noodle? I typed in Chat GBT
- 21:11Speaker 1: and Chad said, Ah, you mean what type of noodle
- 21:14Speaker 1: it actually is. Traditionally they use something very similar to miswa.
- 21:20Speaker 1: Like mianxian or misua for for the longevity noodles. I
- 21:23Speaker 1: don't know. I hope this is right. Is that sometimes
- 21:26Speaker 1: it's emmian.
- 21:28Speaker 1: No, vermli is not. It's a different type of, it's miso.
- 21:30Speaker 1: It's a type of noodle, OK, because when you said
- 21:33Speaker 1: birthday noodles in Mandarin, Mandarin brain went. Yeah, I would
- 21:38Speaker 1: have done the same. I would have done the same. Well, um,
- 21:42Speaker 1: any other texts you want to read out? We got
- 21:43Speaker 1: a couple. We got a couple. So one coming in from,
- 21:47Speaker 1: I think your name is Chia.
- 21:49Speaker 1: Cheer, you say mine is worse. I forgot my best
- 21:52Speaker 1: man was my cousin, and I was talking to him
- 21:55Speaker 1: and saying, Wow, such a waste you weren't there at
- 21:57Speaker 1: my wedding. He stared at me for a bit saying hello,
- 22:00Speaker 1: I was your best man.
- 22:01Speaker 1: There you go. No way. How did he forget that?
- 22:04Speaker 1: That's actually crazy. Keep keep the calls coming in at
- 22:07Speaker 1: 669-11987 or if you can WhatsApp us at 90050987. Yeah,
- 22:13Speaker 1: and the question is, have you ever forgotten someone's birthday
- 22:16Speaker 1: before or has someone forgotten yours? And even if you've
- 22:20Speaker 1: not experienced this before,
- 22:21Speaker 1: Do you think that birthdays are super duper duper important
- 22:24Speaker 1: to remember? Let us know. Yeah, exactly. In exchange, you
- 22:29Speaker 1: could have a wonderful experience thanks to One How Restaurant.
- 22:33Speaker 1: It is worth almost $200. Call us right now, 669-11987. Now,
- 22:39Speaker 1: just um at a friend's birthday dinner.
- 22:42Speaker 1: This topic came about um whether or not you've forgotten
- 22:45Speaker 1: your partner's birthday before or a loved one's birthday, or
- 22:49Speaker 1: has someone forgotten your birthday before. So, um, went around
- 22:52Speaker 1: the table just chatting about it and it turns out
- 22:54Speaker 1: at least 2 people said that their partners have forgotten
- 22:58Speaker 1: their birthday before.
- 22:59Speaker 1: And the running joke was that it's always the guy
- 23:01Speaker 1: that forgot. May that misfortune never ever befall me. Yeah, yeah,
- 23:06Speaker 1: I know it can be a bit disappointing lah, that feeling, right?
- 23:09Speaker 1: Especially if it's a close friend. Yeah, or like your,
- 23:11Speaker 1: your loved one. How can this be allowed?
- 23:16Speaker 1: How can this be? We have a text coming in
- 23:19Speaker 1: from John. John says, Yes, I shamelessly forgot my partner's
- 23:23Speaker 1: birthday once. My partner was overseas and I was supposed
- 23:26Speaker 1: to call once the clock strikes 12, but I was
- 23:29Speaker 1: so tired that day I fell asleep before that and
- 23:31Speaker 1: when and
- 23:32Speaker 1: I woke up, wow, I panicked. I sent a message
- 23:35Speaker 1: to apologize. From then onwards, I created a spreadsheet for
- 23:39Speaker 1: all the birthdays I knew, and I put it in
- 23:41Speaker 1: my phone calendar reminder so that I'll never ever miss
- 23:44Speaker 1: anyone's birthday ever again. Yo, you know what, that's, uh,
- 23:47Speaker 1: that's pretty useful. I should do that and key the
- 23:49Speaker 1: key it into my calendar as well. Um, that could help.
- 23:52Speaker 1: Gonna say hi here to, I don't think you left
- 23:55Speaker 1: your name, but T.
- 23:57Speaker 1: Good morning, Sojo. First of all, always lovely to hear
- 23:59Speaker 1: you both while I'm driving my kids to school and
- 24:02Speaker 1: dropping my husband at the office. That's nice. So the
- 24:04Speaker 1: person who always forgets our birthdays is my mom. She's
- 24:07Speaker 1: a mom of 3 and she cannot remember all 3
- 24:10Speaker 1: of her children's birthdays. My sister is always the one
- 24:13Speaker 1: that will prompt in the group chat with, good morning,
- 24:16Speaker 1: happy birthday, so and so. Only then my mom will
- 24:19Speaker 1: follow up right after.
- 24:21Speaker 1: Every single year, but unfortunately, I think I might have
- 24:25Speaker 1: inherited her memory too, LOL. I don't know why, but
- 24:28Speaker 1: I can envision a mom going, la, your last time
- 24:31Speaker 1: give me a headache. Now I forget your birthday. Or
- 24:34Speaker 1: she immediately panics. Can you imagine? Like she sees the
- 24:36Speaker 1: message and she panics. Oh, happy birthday. It's either extreme
- 24:39Speaker 1: ends of excuses. There we go. I know, um, but
- 24:41Speaker 1: you see, here's the problem. If you have group chats
- 24:44Speaker 1: and people wish you.
- 24:45Speaker 1: The group chats, that's helpful because someone will always remember
- 24:47Speaker 1: in the chat. Oh yeah, but if you don't exactly
- 24:51Speaker 1: or that person who always remembers doesn't text in the
- 24:53Speaker 1: group chat and text the birthday girl or boy separately,
- 24:57Speaker 1: then the rest of us are screwed. I'm just going
- 24:59Speaker 1: to out myself here. You are that person. Our 987
- 25:01Speaker 1: group chat. Thank you very much guys to my colleagues.
- 25:05Speaker 1: Whenever they say happy birthday, then you are the one
- 25:07Speaker 1: that birthday.
- 25:10Speaker 1: Oh yes, I remember this entire time. Yes, OK. We're
- 25:14Speaker 1: going to Joe on the line right now. Joe, what
- 25:17Speaker 1: about you? Has this happened to you before?
- 25:18Speaker 2: Yes, I've
- 25:19Speaker 2: forgotten my, now my husband, then my boyfriend's birthday at 18,
- 25:24Speaker 2: that was almost 20 years ago. So what happened was
- 25:27Speaker 2: that I was supposed to be in Korea for a
- 25:31Speaker 2: month-long exchange and it happened to overlap the period that
- 25:35Speaker 2: it was his birthday. Then.
- 25:37Speaker 2: Uh, we just started dating, so my friends asked me,
- 25:40Speaker 2: texted me while they were in Singapore and I was
- 25:42Speaker 2: in Korea, Hey, what are your plans for his birthday?
- 25:45Speaker 2: Then I was like, oh, ho. So I quickly scrambled online,
- 25:50Speaker 2: found some cake, got my friends to surprise him, made
- 25:54Speaker 2: a card.
- 25:55Speaker 2: I just pulled it off as if I didn't forget
- 25:58Speaker 2: anything at all.
- 26:00Speaker 1: OK, you still pulled through and came through in the end.
- 26:01Speaker 1: Well done. Like, does he know you actually forgot?
- 26:04Speaker 2: Yes, uh, later on I did tell him because I mean,
- 26:07Speaker 2: we are married now, so it's OK. I can, I
- 26:09Speaker 2: can still tell him.
- 26:11Speaker 1: So you, you made sure that you locked it in first,
- 26:14Speaker 1: then you told him. But was he unhappy? Was he
- 26:16Speaker 1: able to tell he
- 26:17Speaker 2: forgot? No, he wasn't. He was so surprised. He texted
- 26:20Speaker 2: me when I was in Korea. And then I ordered
- 26:23Speaker 2: a cake, made sure my friends was able to surprise him,
- 26:27Speaker 2: and then got him a card and everything, so everything
- 26:30Speaker 2: looked fine.
- 26:31Speaker 1: That's so funny, dude. I think um.
- 26:34Speaker 1: I think men are easier to fool than women today
- 26:38Speaker 1: and we're about to head back into our messages right now.
- 26:41Speaker 1: Have you ever forgotten someone's birthday or has someone forgotten yours?
- 26:45Speaker 1: We got one serious life hack here coming in from Hakim.
- 26:50Speaker 1: OK, Hakim says, Hey guys, for my family, I have
- 26:54Speaker 1: 5 + 1 birthday to remember, which I have no issue.
- 26:58Speaker 1: But sometimes when asked out of the blue, I tend
- 27:00Speaker 1: to jam for a while. Like if I see a
- 27:03Speaker 1: checkpoint suddenly asked to confirm while checking passport. Other than that,
- 27:06Speaker 1: I'm fine. I use all their name initials with their
- 27:09Speaker 1: birth date number for my passwords and of course their
- 27:12Speaker 1: jerseys with the birth date.
- 27:17Speaker 1: Actually, that is so smart, dude. That is so smart.
- 27:20Speaker 1: Just in case. Judging from the jersey, it is Manchester United. OK, Ken.
- 27:26Speaker 1: What does it matter to you? I remember all of
- 27:28Speaker 1: you as well. OK. OK, when we come back, last
- 27:31Speaker 1: few messages to read out. It's not too late to
- 27:33Speaker 1: get your texts in, by the way. Have you ever
- 27:35Speaker 1: forgotten someone's birthday or has someone forgotten yours? In exchange,
- 27:39Speaker 1: we've got a beautiful mid-autumn treat. Thanks to our friends
- 27:42Speaker 1: from One Hao Chinese Restaurant, and this is over at Marriott.
- 27:45Speaker 1: Tang Plaza, by the way. In case you haven't sorted
- 27:48Speaker 1: out your Mid-Autumn Festival mooncakes just yet, a beautiful set
- 27:51Speaker 1: coming your way that is worth almost $200. Question is,
- 27:55Speaker 1: to stir the pot here today, have you ever forgotten
- 27:58Speaker 1: someone's birthday or has someone forgotten yours? And
- 28:01Speaker 1: We're talking about people that you consider close to you,
- 28:04Speaker 1: you know. Yeah, to say good morning to usernames. Hey,
- 28:09Speaker 1: I'm here to break the stereotype because the person who
- 28:11Speaker 1: never fails to forget my birthday is a female. Oh,
- 28:14Speaker 1: it's my good friend Rachel who has been friends with
- 28:17Speaker 1: me for 11 years. She dropped the name. Yeah, exactly.
- 28:21Speaker 1: Until today she is here to get my birth date right.
- 28:23Speaker 1: My birthday is coming up in the next 3 days,
- 28:26Speaker 1: but she texted me happy birthday this morning and told
- 28:29Speaker 1: me she'll continue sending for the next 3 days. It
- 28:32Speaker 1: has become a running joke, so I'll never let her
- 28:34Speaker 1: know when my birthday actually is. If I win this prize,
- 28:37Speaker 1: I may or may not consider bringing her along. Here's
- 28:40Speaker 1: a screenshot of what she sent me this morning. Cheers,
- 28:42Speaker 1: and the screenshot reads, Happy birthday. I wish you for
- 28:46Speaker 1: the next 3 days because I don't know which day
- 28:49Speaker 1: is your birthday after 10 years.
- 28:53Speaker 1: Yo, that's hilarious. And the fact that y'all are still friends,
- 28:56Speaker 1: I mean, you can take a joke, lah, that's for sure.
- 28:58Speaker 1: We got one coming in from DMR. Hi Sojo, it's
- 29:01Speaker 1: the woman who birthed me, my mother. Oh man. My
- 29:04Speaker 1: birthday is the 8th of September 0809. 1 year she
- 29:08Speaker 1: texted me on 9th of August 0908.
- 29:12Speaker 1: Happy birthday. She lives in Sydney. Oh my gosh, help me.
- 29:17Speaker 1: I mean, look, that's just something to laugh about, right?
- 29:21Speaker 1: You cannot beat this one, OK. I had this, um,
- 29:23Speaker 1: I wouldn't even call this person like a friend or acquaintance.
- 29:26Speaker 1: I barely know this person, yeah. So I, I met
- 29:29Speaker 1: this person like a while back through mutual friends, and
- 29:32Speaker 1: it was just like kind of um at the time
- 29:34Speaker 1: where we still added each other on Facebook, OK, in
- 29:37Speaker 1: school and stuff. So then, OK, at whatever lah. I mean,
- 29:39Speaker 1: I don't really take note of these things. And you know,
- 29:42Speaker 1: sometimes they will prompt you like, oh, so and so's
- 29:44Speaker 1: birthday is today or whatever, right?
- 29:46Speaker 1: So then I saw this person's birthday pop up and said, oh, wish,
- 29:51Speaker 1: wish this person a happy birthday. I was like, OK,
- 29:53Speaker 1: I'll just, you know, drop him a message like, hey,
- 29:55Speaker 1: happy birthday, man. He goes, he replies to me and
- 29:58Speaker 1: he goes, huh, it's not my birthday. Then I was like, huh?
- 30:02Speaker 1: Then he said, I put the wrong date on my
- 30:05Speaker 1: um account so that I know who my true friends are.
- 30:10Speaker 1: Wait, why do I feel we both know this person? No,
- 30:14Speaker 1: you don't know this person. Really? You don't know this
- 30:16Speaker 1: person I encountered a similar situation. Really? No, but there's
- 30:19Speaker 1: no way you know this person. I'm not close to
- 30:21Speaker 1: this person, firstly, never introduced you to this person before.
- 30:24Speaker 1: Maybe it's the same tactic tactic, yeah, but why? It's
- 30:27Speaker 1: so childish. I actually
- 30:29Speaker 1: Wish people on Facebook a long time ago and Facebook
- 30:31Speaker 1: at the birthday function and someone said the same thing
- 30:33Speaker 1: to you. Yeah, I'm just testing you whether you're my
- 30:36Speaker 1: real friend, you know, my birthday. I said I don't
- 30:37Speaker 1: get it. So unfriendly. Yeah, I got no time for this, man.
- 30:41Speaker 1: I literally, I took 2 minutes out of my day
- 30:44Speaker 1: to wish you and I don't even know you like.
- 30:47Speaker 1: I was just being nice. I love both of us
- 30:49Speaker 1: had the same sentiments. I took 2 minutes to you,
- 30:54Speaker 1: come on, it's for, look, now that we are, you know,
- 30:57Speaker 1: more mature, we have less tolerance for these things. OK, granted,
- 31:00Speaker 1: this happened like years ago, but even at that point
- 31:03Speaker 1: I was like, what to waste my time. Yeah, time
- 31:05Speaker 1: is money. My 2 minutes is worth 20 cents. Wow, balling.
- 31:12Speaker 1: I was having a really good laugh at all these
- 31:13Speaker 1: stories coming through today. Have you ever forgotten someone's birthday
- 31:17Speaker 1: or has someone forgotten yours? And we're talking about people
- 31:20Speaker 1: whom you consider to be close to you. Yeah, I
- 31:23Speaker 1: mean loads of texts and calls coming in. Thank you
- 31:25Speaker 1: so much for all of them. We're so entertained. If
- 31:28Speaker 1: you missed the entire convo, not to worry, you can
- 31:30Speaker 1: catch up on me Listen on Spotify. But I think
- 31:32Speaker 1: for today's winner, let's give it to Pela. Oh yeah,
- 31:36Speaker 1: yeah there we go.
- 31:38Speaker 1: Hey, so bring your good friend Rachel and maybe finally
- 31:40Speaker 1: tell her when the birthday is. Just a quick summary
- 31:43Speaker 1: or recap of her story. So Pei and Rachel have
- 31:46Speaker 1: known each other for almost 10 or 11 years, but
- 31:49Speaker 1: Pei has never told Rachel when the exact birth date is.
- 31:52Speaker 1: So Rachel always text with a 5 day period or
- 31:54Speaker 1: 3 day period buffer to cover bases, you know what
- 31:57Speaker 1: I mean, yeah, but she knows it's around this time.
- 31:59Speaker 1: That's hilarious, honestly, like, is there anyone that she can
- 32:02Speaker 1: ask like around?
- 32:03Speaker 1: You know, unless Pei actually put everyone up to it
- 32:06Speaker 1: and said, do not tell Rachel if she asks you. Yeah,
- 32:10Speaker 1: that could be that could be a good point. Yeah,
- 32:11Speaker 1: good question. Anyway, um, this is coming your way. One
- 32:15Speaker 1: Ha Chinese restaurant is celebrating Mid-Autumn Festival as well. They
- 32:18Speaker 1: want you to have their assorted baked mooncakes and snow
- 32:20Speaker 1: skin mooncakes worth almost $200. They've got new flavors including
- 32:25Speaker 1: the Tahongpao tea with cranberries, golden raisins. We've got sea
- 32:29Speaker 1: salt chocolate with.
- 32:30Speaker 1: Bailey snow skin mooncake, so good. Amazing stuff. So please
- 32:34Speaker 1: follow Singapore Marriott on Instagram for more details and a
- 32:38Speaker 1: happy advance to whoever wins this and happy birthday to
- 32:42Speaker 1: all the September babies that texted us actually quite a
- 32:45Speaker 1: number of them covering all bases. So next year, 2027
- 32:51Speaker 1: marks 60 years of national service. We started in 1967.
- 32:56Speaker 1: So our defense minister, Minister Chan Chun Sing has said
- 32:59Speaker 1: in a press release that he has instructed his team
- 33:02Speaker 1: to come up with something meaningful for NS men of
- 33:05Speaker 1: the past and present. So it will be even bigger
- 33:08Speaker 1: than the usual like vouchers. I know NS men get
- 33:12Speaker 1: a lot of vouchers and like special deals and stuff
- 33:14Speaker 1: with your card, right? Yeah, it's a very small thank you.
- 33:17Speaker 1: Serving the nation, I wonder what they'll come up with.
- 33:20Speaker 1: Like what would they cook up. So they are thinking
- 33:22Speaker 1: of doing more open houses next year. OK. So I
- 33:25Speaker 1: think maybe the army recruitment center will go into overdrive,
- 33:29Speaker 1: you know, NS 60, come, let's give all the exhibitions
- 33:33Speaker 1: in the heartlands here in Singapore encourage to put a
- 33:35Speaker 1: sign on every day recruit 60 people.
- 33:41Speaker 1: Like that join the force, is it, but I'm sure
- 33:43Speaker 1: there will be some vouchers, some coupons, some experiences of
- 33:49Speaker 1: the various places. Actually, you know, some places when it's, uh,
- 33:53Speaker 1: SAF day, they, I know this give some massive discounts.
- 33:57Speaker 1: But come on, 60% discount. That is crazy. I would, that, wow,
- 34:01Speaker 1: like everyone will use it. Let, let's see what happens.
- 34:04Speaker 1: So the moment we get some updates about the NS
- 34:06Speaker 1: 60 credits or NS 60 vouchers, we'll let you know. 60, um,
- 34:11Speaker 1: 60 Starbucks coffees.
- 34:15Speaker 1: Or actually that you can redeem or actually, you know,
- 34:17Speaker 1: imagine this McDonald's and Min work together 60 piece nuggets.
- 34:22Speaker 1: I mean that would be a sharing the massive sharing
- 34:24Speaker 1: box platoon bunk, but you can only get it once
- 34:28Speaker 1: one person, one person can go and exploit the system, right? No,
- 34:32Speaker 1: I never say exploit the system. Just make sure that
- 34:35Speaker 1: you have a lot of friends. Can you imagine that
- 34:36Speaker 1: nugget shortage in Singapore.
- 34:40Speaker 1: That's that that wasn't something on our 2026 bingo card. Now,
- 34:44Speaker 1: not because we've been talking about our friends at Fair
- 34:47Speaker 1: Price Group all week. As you know, uh, just before
- 34:49Speaker 1: you get to school at 7 a.m. you stand to
- 34:52Speaker 1: score a Cheers Breakfast Club bundle and $80 worth of
- 34:55Speaker 1: Fair Price shopping vouchers. But this was too interesting to
- 34:59Speaker 1: pass up, OK? I know that you have your, um,
- 35:03Speaker 1: your reservations about driverless vehicles.
- 35:07Speaker 1: I know you've mentioned it before. I know, I know it's,
- 35:12Speaker 1: but it could really improve certain areas of the industry
- 35:16Speaker 1: or efficiency and all that. And our friends at Fair
- 35:18Speaker 1: Price Group, they do have a fleet of driverless vehicles.
- 35:22Speaker 1: It's been spotted on the road here in Singapore already.
- 35:25Speaker 1: So what, what happens is they're using it as their
- 35:27Speaker 1: distribution system. So they're using it to distribute um.
- 35:31Speaker 1: Um, you know, uh, items and maybe fresh food and
- 35:34Speaker 1: stuff like that from their supermarkets, select areas here in Singapore. Yeah, so, um,
- 35:39Speaker 1: I think some people were curious about it because they
- 35:41Speaker 1: did notice this driverless. It almost looks like a container
- 35:45Speaker 1: with wheels moving on its own, quite cute, it's quite cute,
- 35:48Speaker 1: and it's been spotted on the road already.
- 35:49Speaker 1: Um, they actually, I think someone posted it on TikTok,
- 35:53Speaker 1: if I'm not wrong, asking like, hey, did you all
- 35:55Speaker 1: notice this? OK, so what happens is they use this
- 35:58Speaker 1: vehicle to transport goods from their warehouse in the Benoy
- 36:02Speaker 1: area to their distribution centers. So it's about 6 kilometers
- 36:06Speaker 1: in distance. Yeah.
- 36:08Speaker 1: Um, this is a few months after I think LTA
- 36:11Speaker 1: approved their use of these vehicles on the road. So
- 36:15Speaker 1: they aren't on the highways on the streets of Singapore
- 36:17Speaker 1: from the, uh, yeah, from the distribution areas, in between
- 36:23Speaker 1: distribution areas. So there are a total of 7 of
- 36:26Speaker 1: these vehicles right now in their trial, but they still
- 36:30Speaker 1: have like F1 safety car.
- 36:33Speaker 1: As they should. Yes, yeah, yeah, just in case. So
- 36:35Speaker 1: I think that's a very good plan. Honestly, I think
- 36:37Speaker 1: when it comes to all these driverless stuff, we're still
- 36:40Speaker 1: in the teething stages. Yes, it will probably be another
- 36:43Speaker 1: 2 or 3 more decades before we perfect it. I know,
- 36:46Speaker 1: but it's exciting to see we're moving with the times.
- 36:48Speaker 1: Wonder what Billie Eilish is cooking up right now because
- 36:51Speaker 1: she's been a little quieter this year. Honestly, given how
- 36:54Speaker 1: Hit Me Hard and Soft did not win her a
- 36:56Speaker 1: Grammy for the main categories, you can rest assured I'm
- 37:00Speaker 1: very sure she's in the bedroom now with Finney.
- 37:03Speaker 1: producing new music and hoping to give the Grammys a
- 37:06Speaker 1: run for its money maybe in 2 years' time. I
- 37:08Speaker 1: think by now it's a studio. Perhaps. I mean that
- 37:11Speaker 1: she started in the bedroom, like as a as an artist.
- 37:14Speaker 1: There you go. And then now I'm sure she owns
- 37:16Speaker 1: like a whole building or something. Or you know, maybe
- 37:18Speaker 1: the inspiration comes to her in the bedroom. Sometimes, yeah, and,
- 37:22Speaker 1: and typically I think for a lot of artists, they're
- 37:24Speaker 1: by themselves and inspiration strikes. I don't know. Anyway, on
- 37:28Speaker 1: that note, we are going to hand you over to
- 37:30Speaker 1: and Nick. We'll catch you tomorrow at 6 a.m.
