- 0:00Speaker 1: Yeah, Doc, the show fund much show.
- 0:20Speaker 2: Thank you every one to the Major Wrestling Figure Podcast.
- 0:23Speaker 2: I am your host, the Indie God, the death Match King,
- 0:27Speaker 2: the Complete Mac Cardona, And today we're doing a very
- 0:29Speaker 2: special live incarnation of Domination with the one and only
- 0:34Speaker 2: Devon Dudley. Devon, what's up?
- 0:38Speaker 1: Man?
- 0:38Speaker 2: You say? Man's that's where I we don't say Zach here,
- 0:40Speaker 2: that's dead. Rest of the uh Incarnation of Domination. I
- 0:44Speaker 2: know you're a big listener to the podcast s. Wheen
- 0:47Speaker 2: do we go over all the figures of a certain superstar?
- 0:50Speaker 2: But you have too many damn figures. I want to say,
- 0:52Speaker 2: we're gonna be here for a while. Yeah, So I
- 0:53Speaker 2: picked out what I think are the essential Devon Dudley figures.
- 0:57Speaker 2: I want to see if you agree, we're gonna look
- 0:59Speaker 2: at them. You're to tell me if you even have
- 1:01Speaker 2: the figure. Do you collect your figures? I do, and
- 1:04Speaker 2: I don't.
- 1:05Speaker 3: If they if they send it to me, I'll collect it.
- 1:09Speaker 3: Do I go to Walmart or online and buy them now?
- 1:13Speaker 2: So you're you're not figure hunting for your figures. You're
- 1:15Speaker 2: not going to Walmart and Target looking No.
- 1:17Speaker 3: I mean I have a game room that I put
- 1:18Speaker 3: it up in there. But no, I don't really do it.
- 1:21Speaker 3: Unfortunately I should.
- 1:23Speaker 2: You probably don't even have all of your figures.
- 1:24Speaker 3: No, there was so many that was made, especially during
- 1:28Speaker 3: the Attitude era, because that was when me and Bubba
- 1:30Speaker 3: ad On Hottis that there were things that they would
- 1:33Speaker 3: make that we didn't even know was out there.
- 1:34Speaker 2: You're getting paid for it, right, Get paid. That's all.
- 1:37Speaker 2: That's all that matters.
- 1:38Speaker 3: Hey, show me the money. Make as many as you want,
- 1:42Speaker 3: Like al Snow used to say, pin me paid.
- 1:46Speaker 2: All right, So let let's go and let's look at
- 1:48Speaker 2: all of your figures that we have today. Let's do
- 1:50Speaker 2: it all right. First up, we have your first ever
- 1:53Speaker 2: figure ECW Divon Dudley, featuring your pivot punch, a lot
- 2:00Speaker 2: of pivot punching.
- 2:01Speaker 3: I could say that I did and I didn't. I
- 2:05Speaker 3: don't know if I used too many trash cans. And
- 2:07Speaker 3: that's why when I first sort of action figured, I
- 2:10Speaker 3: was a little spectacle about it because of the trash can.
- 2:13Speaker 3: At that point in time, Bubba and I hadn't really
- 2:14Speaker 3: done tables. We had done everything but tables at that point. Now,
- 2:18Speaker 3: the one that did bring it out.
- 2:20Speaker 2: Was new Jack.
- 2:21Speaker 3: Yes, he did yes, and it was a crazy story.
- 2:23Speaker 3: Some fan came to me and showed me that this
- 2:25Speaker 3: actual box. I guess the manufacturing must have made a
- 2:29Speaker 3: mistake and put new Jack in there. Okay, and it
- 2:34Speaker 3: was supposed to have been a Devon, but it was
- 2:35Speaker 3: new Jack and he held it on for many years. Yeah,
- 2:39Speaker 3: he said, one day I want to be able to
- 2:40Speaker 3: show you this, and this is the time to show you.
- 2:42Speaker 3: It came and showed me and he was like, how
- 2:44Speaker 3: did they get that mixed up? I said, what if?
- 2:46Speaker 3: Probably thought all black people look like, oh my god, Jesus,
- 2:49Speaker 3: come on. Do you remember when this figure came out?
- 2:52Speaker 3: Do you remember the feeling? Did you even care that
- 2:54Speaker 3: you were getting a figure?
- 2:55Speaker 2: I did?
- 2:56Speaker 3: To me, it was huge. I had never had anything
- 2:59Speaker 3: like this before, a video game, nothing, So when I
- 3:02Speaker 3: first saw myself, I was very impressed. Number one and
- 3:06Speaker 3: number two. I was very excited, really excited because the
- 3:09Speaker 3: twins who are wrestling now, they were like four or five.
- 3:12Speaker 3: And when I came home with that and I showed them,
- 3:15Speaker 3: they were like jumping for joy, right, you know, because
- 3:17Speaker 3: like Daddy's on an action figure. This was great And
- 3:20Speaker 3: that just showed me that I had finally arrived. Yes,
- 3:24Speaker 3: I mean I'm a huge ECW fan. I was a
- 3:26Speaker 3: kid when these came out Attitude era and then like
- 3:29Speaker 3: you jumped to WWF, but these figures as a kid,
- 3:32Speaker 3: I can still play with these until you get the
- 3:34Speaker 3: WF figures.
- 3:35Speaker 2: So it was perfect and all. You probably don't know this,
- 3:38Speaker 2: but like all these figures have unique bodies, so like
- 3:41Speaker 2: no one else has this divon arm. You know, everything's
- 3:44Speaker 2: unique to the wrestler and this real nerd stuff. But
- 3:46Speaker 2: that's what made this ECW line so special is that nowadays,
- 3:50Speaker 2: you know, people have the same legs, the same arms,
- 3:52Speaker 2: that everyone had unique parts and just made every figure
- 3:55Speaker 2: that much more special.
- 3:56Speaker 3: I mean that's the way it was back then. They
- 3:58Speaker 3: wanted to try to make it set it from everybody
- 4:00Speaker 3: else so you wouldn't mistaken it was who and you
- 4:04Speaker 3: always knew if you studied pro wrestling like that, what
- 4:07Speaker 3: their arms looked like, what their legs looked like, the
- 4:09Speaker 3: tattoos and all of that. So it really meant something
- 4:12Speaker 3: back then.
- 4:13Speaker 2: So who do you think sold more figures? You were
- 4:15Speaker 2: Bubba Oh I did. Sorry, by just being honest, I did.
- 4:20Speaker 2: Let's go to that AX a lot all right, the
- 4:22Speaker 2: next one here is your first ever ww F. I
- 4:25Speaker 2: could say that we didn't get the f out yet.
- 4:28Speaker 2: No WWF Rulers of the Ring, Devon Dudley, you remember
- 4:33Speaker 2: this absolutely.
- 4:34Speaker 3: It was our WrestleMania, the one where we did the
- 4:37Speaker 3: ladder match with Edgend Christian and the Hartis And that
- 4:40Speaker 3: was the look that was given for that WrestleMania. Now,
- 4:44Speaker 3: when I saw that, that was when I really knew
- 4:46Speaker 3: I had arrived. Yeah, I got an action figure after
- 4:49Speaker 3: being on WrestleMania, creating history. Didn't know that those ladder
- 4:53Speaker 3: match in TLC match would still be talked about thirty
- 4:55Speaker 3: years later, but it did. And just to have my
- 4:58Speaker 3: action figure in w mean because remember me growing up
- 5:01Speaker 3: as a kid, you know, I played with Hogan's figures, Andre,
- 5:04Speaker 3: Roddy Piper, you know, Jake the Snake, Steamboat. I'm the
- 5:09Speaker 3: kid playing with them. Oh absolutely, I did. Absolutely Hogan
- 5:13Speaker 3: won every time. I was such a huge ho Cogan mark.
- 5:17Speaker 3: But no, it was one of those things where I
- 5:21Speaker 3: felt like a sense of accomplishment, you know, because I
- 5:24Speaker 3: had finally made it to my childhood dream.
- 5:28Speaker 2: So I'm glad you said that because a lot of
- 5:29Speaker 2: the guys that. When I first came into the business,
- 5:31Speaker 2: I was afraid to say that I collected figures, and
- 5:33Speaker 2: I didn't, you know, because you know, if I saw
- 5:36Speaker 2: you in the locker room, I'd respect you to shake
- 5:39Speaker 2: your hand, but then like I'd also be buying your
- 5:41Speaker 2: figure at Target a walk. So like I came in
- 5:43Speaker 2: in a weird spot, you know, because most of the wrestlers,
- 5:46Speaker 2: they didn't grow up like playing with them, so I
- 5:48Speaker 2: couldn't like they couldn't relate to me.
- 5:50Speaker 3: My my thing, my thing has always been this. We
- 5:54Speaker 3: all are what they call marks, you know, over the
- 5:56Speaker 3: top fans. We were all like that, because if we weren't,
- 5:59Speaker 3: we wouldn't have been in this business. So to not
- 6:03Speaker 3: credit that. As you get into the business and become
- 6:06Speaker 3: popular and well known, why wouldn't you acknowledge that, you know,
- 6:09Speaker 3: because again, we all came from something, and if it
- 6:12Speaker 3: meant being an over the top fan, then why not
- 6:15Speaker 3: admit that?
- 6:15Speaker 2: I agree? So so back to this figure. This is
- 6:17Speaker 2: what I was talking about earlier, Like other people had
- 6:20Speaker 2: these arms, other people had like this chest, but this
- 6:23Speaker 2: was the original. You know, this is your head. Obviously
- 6:26Speaker 2: they scanned you, do you remember getting scanned?
- 6:27Speaker 3: I remember getting scanned out of that. But I told him,
- 6:29Speaker 3: I was like, could you have left the gap out?
- 6:33Speaker 2: No more gap? No more gap ught to you by invisible.
- 6:39Speaker 2: But this this is cool because the sunglasses come on removable.
- 6:43Speaker 2: But as a kid playing, it was a pain of
- 6:45Speaker 2: the ass if you if you lost these, oh forgiven these,
- 6:47Speaker 2: oh man brutal.
- 6:49Speaker 3: Like I remember Jake the Snake had, you know, his
- 6:51Speaker 3: action figure. He had the snake and I was visibly
- 6:54Speaker 3: upset because my little brother, who was playing with my
- 6:56Speaker 3: figures and I told him, don't play with my figures
- 6:58Speaker 3: when I'm not home, he played with it and lost
- 7:00Speaker 3: the little rubberd snake.
- 7:01Speaker 2: That went around. I was, I was so upset. I
- 7:05Speaker 2: feel your pain. Needless to say, he got ass whipping
- 7:07Speaker 2: that name. All right, let's check out the next one.
- 7:10Speaker 2: All right, so this isn't your next one, but this
- 7:13Speaker 2: is like, this is the Jacks is the ruthless Aggression era,
- 7:16Speaker 2: because in between the one I just showed him this,
- 7:18Speaker 2: you probably had like twenty different figures. Yes, you were,
- 7:21Speaker 2: you were too over devon. You know you even had a
- 7:25Speaker 2: three pack with the rock.
- 7:26Speaker 3: Yeah, it was with the Rock, And that was the
- 7:28Speaker 3: one that Basically, I was like, damn, I really made it,
- 7:32Speaker 3: you know, I mean the rock was hacked back then
- 7:34Speaker 3: and needed to put me and Bubba both in a
- 7:36Speaker 3: three pack with him. That was great because we had
- 7:38Speaker 3: done many matches together, right, you know, as teammates, and
- 7:42Speaker 3: then we you know, done many matches where we were
- 7:44Speaker 3: beating his ass. Yes, So for that to have happened
- 7:47Speaker 3: that was great. And then to have this during the
- 7:49Speaker 3: Ruthless Aggression era, it was kind of like, Okay, this
- 7:52Speaker 3: is like I think one of our last action figures
- 7:55Speaker 3: that were made right before we left in two thousand
- 7:58Speaker 3: and five.
- 7:58Speaker 2: So is this after Reverend Devon? This is after Reverend
- 8:02Speaker 2: Are you upset that Reverend Devon never got a figure? Damn?
- 8:05Speaker 3: I think I think Reverend Devon needs a figure point
- 8:08Speaker 3: blank period.
- 8:09Speaker 2: I think now Mattel could do it, because Mattel, you
- 8:11Speaker 2: know you have a Legends deal now right. You know
- 8:13Speaker 2: I convinced Bubba to sign that Legends deal. He didn't
- 8:16Speaker 2: wtn't do it. I think I heard something about that.
- 8:19Speaker 3: I'm like, Bubba, what do you do it? Because nobody
- 8:21Speaker 3: else can make double figures?
- 8:23Speaker 2: Right? Sign with WWE they'll make double figures and you'll
- 8:26Speaker 2: sign them at these signings and make even more money.
- 8:28Speaker 3: I've had people come up to me and say, you know, hey,
- 8:31Speaker 3: we want to do action figures on you guys, and
- 8:33Speaker 3: blah blah blah. You think you can give me your
- 8:35Speaker 3: business card or something we can maybe make this work.
- 8:38Speaker 3: And I'm like, yeah, ure, let's do it. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 8:40Speaker 3: And I thought about it. I was like, it's not
- 8:41Speaker 3: w W A right, So am I really going to
- 8:45Speaker 3: be satisfied with what they make?
- 8:46Speaker 2: No?
- 8:47Speaker 3: And I'm glad you did, you know, convince them, because
- 8:49Speaker 3: no one else makes action figures like w W people say.
- 8:53Speaker 3: And with that being said, that just proves right there
- 8:56Speaker 3: that looking at this figure compared to when people make
- 8:59Speaker 3: other figures that don't really look like us or represents us,
- 9:02Speaker 3: that's proof and the pudding right there that that is
- 9:05Speaker 3: the place to have make action figures. So again I
- 9:07Speaker 3: was very happy and content with that. And again it
- 9:09Speaker 3: was during the ruless aggression. Never remind events always. During
- 9:13Speaker 3: this time, he was looking to bring a new generation
- 9:15Speaker 3: of people in so to be able to still be
- 9:19Speaker 3: in vents his eyes as being able to be made
- 9:22Speaker 3: money off of and things like that.
- 9:23Speaker 2: That was huge. So what's with this yellow cameo? Look
- 9:26Speaker 2: whose idea was did the switch to yellow? I did?
- 9:29Speaker 2: That was your idea, because.
- 9:30Speaker 3: I went I was tired of the regular black and
- 9:33Speaker 3: white and this, and then I wanted something a little different.
- 9:36Speaker 3: And where I got the cameos from was an Army
- 9:39Speaker 3: and Navy store in Cocoa Beach, and I went in
- 9:43Speaker 3: and I saw all these different color I was like, oh,
- 9:45Speaker 3: this is great. So I went and bought one. I said, Bubba,
- 9:48Speaker 3: I said, we need to do this, and then I
- 9:50Speaker 3: remember Bubble going, well, can you get me a pair?
- 9:53Speaker 3: I was like, yeah, So I got them a pair,
- 9:54Speaker 3: and then we started using that one. I used that one.
- 9:56Speaker 3: We did purple, white and black. I remember that I
- 10:00Speaker 3: got teased by Jerdy King Laula going, I know, Bonnie's purple,
- 10:03Speaker 3: but Dudley's divan. But it was we were trying to
- 10:07Speaker 3: just I was trying to just do different things, different look.
- 10:10Speaker 3: Even though we wanted to stay camo, I wanted to
- 10:12Speaker 3: change the colors up at.
- 10:13Speaker 2: Least say one thing. So I'm really ain'tal about my
- 10:15Speaker 2: figure is one thing I don't like about this. There's
- 10:17Speaker 2: no wrist tape, no finger tape. Yeah, they lift it out,
- 10:20Speaker 2: but they put it on the picture. It's on the package.
- 10:22Speaker 2: You clearly see that's what it's but it's not even
- 10:24Speaker 2: the cameo is not the best there. Yeah, no, I
- 10:26Speaker 2: was kind of they're cheaping out in the deco. Hits right,
- 10:28Speaker 2: there's real nerd talk. But yeah, this is your last
- 10:31Speaker 2: figure in w as a while. Yeah, could you jump
- 10:34Speaker 2: ship up with the territory? Yep? And I believe yeah,
- 10:38Speaker 2: we sold out, as they like to say, Well, let's
- 10:40Speaker 2: go check out those figures.
- 10:41Speaker 3: Yes, all right, so here we go little t and
- 10:45Speaker 3: a total NonStop action, brother Diva.
- 10:50Speaker 2: I see what you did there, brother Divon. You got
- 10:54Speaker 2: the table here, yep, you got the molded wrist tape,
- 10:58Speaker 2: you got the finger tape, even the change their chain.
- 11:01Speaker 2: You're all jacked up here too. Well, I was Jack,
- 11:03Speaker 2: that's right, that's right.
- 11:04Speaker 3: At one point in my career, the chain, you know,
- 11:06Speaker 3: never came off, never came off never. I wore the
- 11:08Speaker 3: chain all through and I know there was a couple
- 11:10Speaker 3: of times I was told that why are you wearing
- 11:14Speaker 3: the chain in the ring? Wrestlers don't wear change in
- 11:16Speaker 3: the ring, And to me, it was my style and
- 11:19Speaker 3: I wanted to keep it up, and I thought I
- 11:22Speaker 3: was gonna get heat from it, and not that I
- 11:23Speaker 3: didn't care, but I was gonna take a chance.
- 11:25Speaker 1: You know.
- 11:25Speaker 2: It was like, you know, do it and ask for
- 11:27Speaker 2: apologies later, right, you know.
- 11:30Speaker 3: So it kind of for me, it set the trend
- 11:33Speaker 3: for everything when TNA did that, because again, it showed
- 11:36Speaker 3: something that I had been doing for years, and then
- 11:39Speaker 3: I never take it off. And that was one of
- 11:40Speaker 3: the things that when I go to ade autograph signings
- 11:42Speaker 3: and things like that, people ask me, is that the
- 11:44Speaker 3: chain that you've been wearing your whole career? Go, yep,
- 11:46Speaker 3: this is wow. I've never this is the same chain.
- 11:49Speaker 3: I didn't with the exception of the ring, but this
- 11:51Speaker 3: is the same change since ninety seven.
- 11:55Speaker 2: Oh my god. So I don't know if you know
- 11:57Speaker 2: this is a rare figure. Yes, and you know they
- 11:59Speaker 2: don't even make Bubba No, so Bubba doesn't come out.
- 12:03Speaker 2: He's probably so pissed that you've made that royalty money
- 12:05Speaker 2: he didn't. Well, that gets the show. You asked me earlier,
- 12:08Speaker 2: who made more figures? Who's so more figures? I guess
- 12:12Speaker 2: by default you so more from the Marvel DNA. But yeah,
- 12:15Speaker 2: this is a super rare figure. I think one of
- 12:18Speaker 2: your best like face sculpts. Yeah, it's good, Daven got
- 12:21Speaker 2: the scars on the forehead. Oh yeah, look at that. Yeah,
- 12:24Speaker 2: really really good. And you got the table there and
- 12:25Speaker 2: the table. So tell us about the Team three D
- 12:29Speaker 2: name where you couldn't be the Dudley's anymore. Yeah.
- 12:31Speaker 3: Well, when we left WWE in two thousand and five,
- 12:34Speaker 3: we were under the impression that we had the rights
- 12:36Speaker 3: to the name and we were going to do an
- 12:39Speaker 3: independent show. And the independent show got to cease and
- 12:42Speaker 3: dismissed letter. And when that happened, we were like, what
- 12:46Speaker 3: the hell is going on? So we went and got
- 12:48Speaker 3: a lawyer, and the lawyer said, yeah, they're claiming that
- 12:51Speaker 3: they own the rights to it. Now we can do
- 12:54Speaker 3: one or two things. We could fight this, or we
- 12:57Speaker 3: can just make up a new name. But if you
- 12:59Speaker 3: fight this, you know, Vince can have you tied up
- 13:01Speaker 3: in court for so long boy that by the time
- 13:03Speaker 3: you even if you did win, you would have lost
- 13:06Speaker 3: more money that you spent trying to fight this. So
- 13:09Speaker 3: it's probably best if we just let it go.
- 13:11Speaker 2: But I think it worked out, brother Divon.
- 13:13Speaker 3: And because it almost sounds like Devon and Bubba Rat. Yeah,
- 13:17Speaker 3: so my name is Devon, which is Divonne and uh,
- 13:21Speaker 3: you know instead of the ed, we always did it
- 13:23Speaker 3: in we with the hyphen, so we just put my
- 13:25Speaker 3: real name in it. I was like, they can't take
- 13:27Speaker 3: that from That's right, they did. They got to speak
- 13:29Speaker 3: to Mama Dudley.
- 13:30Speaker 2: Yeah, this is a great pack. And then Tory Birss
- 13:33Speaker 2: switches to Jacks, who used to make the We now
- 13:36Speaker 2: you're gonna get Jack's TNA figures. Let's check that one out.
- 13:39Speaker 2: We're crossing the line here with some Jacks Team three D.
- 13:45Speaker 2: I'll be honest, I don't really love this one. I'm
- 13:48Speaker 2: not Yeah, I'm not a big fan. I mean, what
- 13:51Speaker 2: do you think.
- 13:52Speaker 3: I mean, it doesn't have the details like the other one. Yeah,
- 13:55Speaker 3: this is just it just looks like they just put
- 13:57Speaker 3: it together from old ones that they had and just
- 14:01Speaker 3: painted the new shirts and all.
- 14:02Speaker 2: That's pretty much what it is. It's the old w
- 14:05Speaker 2: B parts because WWE went to Bettel so TNA got Jack. Yeah,
- 14:10Speaker 2: so it's not bad.
- 14:12Speaker 3: I mean it still shows that it's us, but still
- 14:15Speaker 3: it could have been a little bit made. It could
- 14:16Speaker 3: have made a little better. You guys stopped. You weren't
- 14:19Speaker 3: doing tied eye, you weren't doing Camo, just plain black pants.
- 14:22Speaker 2: Not what do you do it?
- 14:23Speaker 3: Well, because they they said that they owned the rights
- 14:27Speaker 3: to the camos too, so it was still the likeness,
- 14:30Speaker 3: which is why we had to change everything up, got it,
- 14:33Speaker 3: and it got to the point where we just didn't
- 14:35Speaker 3: care anymore and we were going to do it anyway.
- 14:37Speaker 3: So later on we wind up putting the camels back
- 14:39Speaker 3: on for a little bit here and there.
- 14:41Speaker 2: Right. Well, look, they did paint the tape on your fingers,
- 14:43Speaker 2: at least they did the rest tape. There's something there,
- 14:45Speaker 2: But when you were walking on the toy aisle, not
- 14:48Speaker 2: very toy attic, as they said. Yeah, the previous ones,
- 14:51Speaker 2: you know, Camo, you know tied I that like pops
- 14:54Speaker 2: off the shelves.
- 14:55Speaker 3: This is plain, very plain. But it's a rare two
- 14:58Speaker 3: pac sign. There's a lot of conventions and that's the
- 15:01Speaker 3: first time I've seen that since.
- 15:02Speaker 2: TMA made it. I think we got yeah, I need
- 15:06Speaker 2: to have that.
- 15:08Speaker 3: I'll put this on my side, thank your.
- 15:11Speaker 2: We got two more, two more. So this one is
- 15:14Speaker 2: a kind of a weird one. This just came out recently.
- 15:18Speaker 2: This is based on your return to WWE from what
- 15:21Speaker 2: year is at twenty sixteen fifteen, so that was already released,
- 15:26Speaker 2: but this is like an update of that figure. I
- 15:28Speaker 2: don't know if you even know that. Yeah, okay, yeah,
- 15:31Speaker 2: so this is from the vault. It's called like that.
- 15:33Speaker 2: That figure is so sought after they brought it out
- 15:35Speaker 2: of the vault. Look at that. That's how over you are.
- 15:38Speaker 2: I like it. So this one has all the detail.
- 15:40Speaker 2: It has the red camo, has the chain, has the glasses,
- 15:44Speaker 2: has the tape your tattoos. I mean, this might be
- 15:48Speaker 2: the best I think it is.
- 15:49Speaker 3: And the thing about that one is even the box
- 15:51Speaker 3: is cool looking. Yeah, you know. So I really enjoyed
- 15:54Speaker 3: that one when it first came out.
- 15:56Speaker 2: I was very excited. It was almost like getting my
- 15:58Speaker 2: first action figure cause it looked so good. So I
- 16:00Speaker 2: remember being in the locker room when you guys came
- 16:02Speaker 2: back in Brooklyn, and the locker room was not happy
- 16:05Speaker 2: that Bubba was coming back. But that was the first
- 16:11Speaker 2: time I got to work with you and Bubba like
- 16:13Speaker 2: in the ring or even like just be around you guys,
- 16:15Speaker 2: because like you know, you were in the business before
- 16:19Speaker 2: I got into the business, and we just were never
- 16:20Speaker 2: in the same place. That's the first time I ever
- 16:22Speaker 2: wrestled you was in this WWE, and I remember putting
- 16:25Speaker 2: the match together with you. We had a singles match.
- 16:27Speaker 2: It was so easy, and then Bubba came and made
- 16:29Speaker 2: it so complicated. You're not even of the match. Damn it, Bubba.
- 16:35Speaker 2: I don't know if you remember this, but in the
- 16:37Speaker 2: match or somethinghere where Bubba pops up on the apron
- 16:39Speaker 2: and I nail him and I busted his nose open,
- 16:43Speaker 2: and I'm like, oh no, but I got through the curtain.
- 16:46Speaker 2: Everyone and Gorillas clapped, But Bama hates when I tell
- 16:51Speaker 2: that story. I'm sorry, but the boys loved it. Like
- 16:55Speaker 2: I thought I was gonna get here, I got hit
- 16:56Speaker 2: with Bubba from everyone else, like yeah, so it was worth.
- 17:00Speaker 2: It was worth with everybody in the Lacker room. But
- 17:02Speaker 2: you were like yeah, but how was it when you
- 17:05Speaker 2: came back all those years later at Barclay Center. I mean,
- 17:08Speaker 2: that noise, that pop, it was unreal.
- 17:10Speaker 3: It was unreal, and I never thought that him and
- 17:13Speaker 3: I would receive an ovation like that. I mean it
- 17:16Speaker 3: was incredible. And to know that there were new WWE
- 17:20Speaker 3: fans that kind of knew who we were, but didn't
- 17:24Speaker 3: know who we were. They weren't there, or that they
- 17:25Speaker 3: weren't born during the time that me and Bubba did
- 17:28Speaker 3: ec W and of course the very first run of WWE,
- 17:32Speaker 3: they weren't there. But at the time the network was
- 17:36Speaker 3: pumping out a lot of stuff about us, trying to
- 17:39Speaker 3: educate the new fans on who the Dudleys really were.
- 17:43Speaker 3: So when we came out, I just didn't think the
- 17:45Speaker 3: ovation would have been as loud as it was. But again,
- 17:48Speaker 3: it's Brooklyn, New York. I'm born and raised in Brooklyn.
- 17:51Speaker 3: Bubba was from Queens and lived in Long Island after that,
- 17:54Speaker 3: so it was like a homecoming, yes, and anytime Bubba
- 17:57Speaker 3: and I had ever been in New York that was
- 18:00Speaker 3: what we got. But again, to do that on the
- 18:03Speaker 3: scale of a WWE and to have that many people
- 18:06Speaker 3: in a building, and then when that Pyro hit, that
- 18:08Speaker 3: was the one thing I loved about it because also
- 18:10Speaker 3: was because social media never got their hands on it
- 18:13Speaker 3: to let it know, even you guys in the bad.
- 18:18Speaker 2: We.
- 18:18Speaker 3: Basically when we got to the building, we were in
- 18:20Speaker 3: a very We were in a suv that was very
- 18:23Speaker 3: well tinted, and there were people outside had no idea
- 18:27Speaker 3: that it was us, and we kind of went inside
- 18:30Speaker 3: and went down in the elevator, went all the way down.
- 18:32Speaker 3: Mark Corona, who was head of talent relation at the time,
- 18:34Speaker 3: met us down there and said, don't get out the
- 18:36Speaker 3: car yet. We're gonna wait and make sure that every
- 18:39Speaker 3: area no one's there. And we got off the We
- 18:43Speaker 3: got out of the car, snuck into the bus. We
- 18:45Speaker 3: didn't come out and do anything or see anybody until
- 18:48Speaker 3: it was like, I think a match or two before
- 18:50Speaker 3: we were supposed to go out, and that was when
- 18:52Speaker 3: New Day came in and saw us for the first time.
- 18:55Speaker 3: What a night, What a reaction it was.
- 18:57Speaker 2: It was great. And you got two figures out of it.
- 18:59Speaker 3: Yeah, I got two figures and that's identical.
- 19:02Speaker 2: Well, this was a better version of the other one.
- 19:04Speaker 2: Pretty cool that your figure was so good they had
- 19:06Speaker 2: to do it again.
- 19:07Speaker 3: Absolutely, And one of the greatest things also, I thought,
- 19:09Speaker 3: was that the fact that you know, you guys, that
- 19:11Speaker 3: the newer generation had welcomed us with open arms. It
- 19:14Speaker 3: was that was one of my biggest fear of not
- 19:16Speaker 3: being able to be welcomed back, because I remember during
- 19:19Speaker 3: the Attitude ere when so many of the guys from
- 19:21Speaker 3: Andre and Hogan Era and even Dusty and Flair Era
- 19:25Speaker 3: would come into the locker room and guys like, Oh,
- 19:28Speaker 3: what the hell these old farts doing right? And I
- 19:30Speaker 3: thought that that was going to be the same reception,
- 19:32Speaker 3: but it wasn't. So we were eager and very honored
- 19:35Speaker 3: to be able to be in there with the new day,
- 19:36Speaker 3: with you guys, the USO's and all of that, the
- 19:40Speaker 3: Wyatt family. So we were really happy that you guys
- 19:43Speaker 3: welcomed us into your locker room. It used to be ours,
- 19:46Speaker 3: but we were gone, we straight away from home, not
- 19:50Speaker 3: by choice, but we left and you guys took over.
- 19:52Speaker 3: So it was our job to make you guys feel
- 19:56Speaker 3: comfortable with us.
- 19:57Speaker 2: Well, thank you, because we got to you know, wrestle guys.
- 20:00Speaker 2: We grew up rest like we've got to wrestle guys.
- 20:03Speaker 2: We grew up idolizing guys, We grew up watching wrestle.
- 20:06Speaker 2: So you guys taught us so much or in and
- 20:09Speaker 2: out of the ring.
- 20:10Speaker 3: Sure, I mean it was great, And I think that
- 20:12Speaker 3: was one of the things I was nervous about in
- 20:13Speaker 3: terms of becoming a producer, because after working with you
- 20:16Speaker 3: guys on that scale, I didn't know how it would
- 20:20Speaker 3: be perceived as a producer, because the producer is a
- 20:23Speaker 3: different ballgame than it is talent. And now I'm taking
- 20:27Speaker 3: my ideas and trying to give it to you because
- 20:30Speaker 3: this is the vision that the office wanted. Would you
- 20:33Speaker 3: accept me being a producer being able to do that?
- 20:36Speaker 3: And you guys did and you're a great producer. Oh,
- 20:39Speaker 3: thank you, thank you very much.
- 20:40Speaker 2: Well, let's go to your last figure, your most current figure.
- 20:42Speaker 2: But by the time this comes out, there'll probably something else.
- 20:45Speaker 2: You have so much emotionality seals all right here. It
- 20:48Speaker 2: is ringside exclusive. I'm sure you've had to have seen this.
- 20:51Speaker 2: I've got nine of them. Yes, this is the ECW is.
- 20:56Speaker 2: I don't know if it's EW or or WWW one
- 20:58Speaker 2: or the other. It's kind of both, right, it's a
- 21:00Speaker 2: little both.
- 21:00Speaker 3: Because remember when we first came back to the we
- 21:03Speaker 3: first came into the we were wearing Ti diuy and
- 21:06Speaker 3: the overalls I was and so Vince wanted a not
- 21:11Speaker 3: an ECW look, but he wanted a w W E look.
- 21:14Speaker 3: So we had to go back to the drawing board
- 21:16Speaker 3: and change and that's what we came in with the camels.
- 21:19Speaker 3: But it was one of those things where you know,
- 21:22Speaker 3: I was very happy to be able to see this
- 21:25Speaker 3: these action figures in that kind of ECW setting because
- 21:29Speaker 3: it brought back so many memories and it was so detailed.
- 21:33Speaker 2: At all this there's so much stuff. It's great.
- 21:35Speaker 3: Not to mention again I said it. On the other one,
- 21:38Speaker 3: the box alone looked just really cool, and to me,
- 21:42Speaker 3: that's always a selling point with me. If the presentation
- 21:45Speaker 3: on the outside looks good, I want to see what's
- 21:47Speaker 3: on the inside.
- 21:48Speaker 2: Absolutely again, all the fingertape, the wrist tape, but this
- 21:51Speaker 2: one has the ECW tag team titles, the perfect window
- 21:54Speaker 2: to sign and make money, right, That's it. That's the
- 21:56Speaker 2: most important part. Listen, how's that window making the money?
- 21:59Speaker 2: That's all I want. Keep those action figures coming. So yeah,
- 22:03Speaker 2: this one. So many fans were excited for this because finally,
- 22:06Speaker 2: you know, you guys are back in the Mattel families
- 22:08Speaker 2: that can start making figures of you guys. But now
- 22:10Speaker 2: that they've done this, I think they can make like
- 22:13Speaker 2: the Yellow Camo. I think they can make a Reverend
- 22:15Speaker 2: Devon with with Deacon Batista. Absolutely, Now that you guys
- 22:18Speaker 2: have those legends deals, you know, the skies, the women
- 22:21Speaker 2: and what figures they can.
- 22:22Speaker 3: Make absolutely, I mean, they can't go on and on,
- 22:24Speaker 3: and I think that's the great part about it. Not
- 22:26Speaker 3: only and this is something that I'm looking at right now.
- 22:28Speaker 3: Not only in front is cool, but the back is cool.
- 22:31Speaker 3: You know, look at the back, and then it has
- 22:32Speaker 3: a little story behind it, right, you know, so for
- 22:34Speaker 3: those little kids that still don't know who we are,
- 22:36Speaker 3: it gives a good story about who we are and
- 22:39Speaker 3: then going in and then look us up.
- 22:40Speaker 2: I think my personal favorite of all the Dudly Boys
- 22:43Speaker 2: is this two people right here. I love that one.
- 22:45Speaker 2: But what do you have a favorite? That's my favorite?
- 22:47Speaker 2: We agree this favorite, but you probably have I'm not
- 22:51Speaker 2: even kidding, like at least one hundred different figures, right
- 22:55Speaker 2: my over exaggerating. What do you think? Maybe just a
- 22:56Speaker 2: little bit, but I like that number. That means just
- 23:00Speaker 2: just think about all the royalty checks you got listen
- 23:02Speaker 2: over the years.
- 23:04Speaker 3: I wish we could say that we were on the
- 23:06Speaker 3: same level as the Rock And yeah, then we might
- 23:08Speaker 3: have come close to it in terms of merchandise, but man,
- 23:10Speaker 3: we were so over, you were so over, and then
- 23:14Speaker 3: it was it was really a good time to be
- 23:17Speaker 3: in a WWE and just to be in pro wrestling
- 23:19Speaker 3: at that time. I mean it was like we could
- 23:21Speaker 3: do no wrong, even when we were bad guys, even
- 23:23Speaker 3: when we were heels.
- 23:24Speaker 2: You debutre WWE in ninety nine or two thousand ninety nine.
- 23:27Speaker 2: It was August twenty fourth, nineteen ninety nine, so I
- 23:30Speaker 2: mean almost thirty years later, they're still cranking out product.
- 23:33Speaker 2: You guys were so over.
- 23:34Speaker 3: Yes, and that was the great part about it. One
- 23:35Speaker 3: of the things I loved there wasn't an action figure,
- 23:37Speaker 3: but it was a styrofoam three D.
- 23:39Speaker 2: I haven't yeah, yeah, yeah, I love that they made
- 23:43Speaker 2: so much merchand.
- 23:43Speaker 3: You guys, there was stuff that people would come even
- 23:46Speaker 3: before they started doing conventions and stuff like that, we
- 23:49Speaker 3: would do autograph signings, you know, through WWE, and people
- 23:52Speaker 3: would come to us and give us things to sign.
- 23:55Speaker 3: And we had no idea that w w had made it.
- 23:58Speaker 3: That's how much merchandise was out of us.
- 24:00Speaker 2: And it just breaks my heart that you don't have
- 24:02Speaker 2: everything we need. Guys. We need to track down what
- 24:04Speaker 2: Devon has and get them all the missing stuff. Absolutely,
- 24:06Speaker 2: please do that checklist and all the major marks. Well,
- 24:09Speaker 2: they'll get it for you.
- 24:10Speaker 3: Listen, I'm going to start writing down a list of
- 24:12Speaker 3: things when I see at these conventions and like I
- 24:15Speaker 3: want that that.
- 24:16Speaker 2: Yeah, let's get it all absolutely all right, well Devon,
- 24:19Speaker 2: thank you for going through your figures, a little mini
- 24:22Speaker 2: incarnation of domination of too many damn figures. But but
- 24:25Speaker 2: tell the people you're a big YouTube star. Now you're
- 24:27Speaker 2: coming after my internet title. How many people where they
- 24:30Speaker 2: can watch you? Listen.
- 24:31Speaker 3: It's not gonna be a hardcore match coming after you.
- 24:33Speaker 3: But I'm telling you, the minute you start bringing out
- 24:34Speaker 3: light bulbs, I'm out.
- 24:36Speaker 2: I'm letting you know, not know.
- 24:37Speaker 3: But you can follow me on Instagram at testify Devon,
- 24:41Speaker 3: which I am on just about all the time. Always
- 24:45Speaker 3: on your damn phone, always always always making these phone calls,
- 24:48Speaker 3: bro Jim dude, like extensions on the phone on the phone.
- 24:52Speaker 2: Listen, I'm on the bench.
- 24:53Speaker 3: I got to hit things in my head and I'm
- 24:55Speaker 3: just like, yeah, yeah, I want that that. It's It's incredible.
- 24:58Speaker 3: I'm listen. I can keep Vario isn't in business. Oh
- 25:01Speaker 3: my god, I just plugged that. I just plugged their product.
- 25:03Speaker 3: So yeah, I am the Horizon subscriber, Yes I am now.
- 25:06Speaker 3: And then also I have a YouTube channel, like you said,
- 25:09Speaker 3: which is doing extremely well. We got my first plaqu
- 25:11Speaker 3: which I'm going to put on my YouTube channel to
- 25:14Speaker 3: thank all the fans for helping me to reach one
- 25:18Speaker 3: hundred thousand within three and a half almost four weeks,
- 25:21Speaker 3: which was an incredible feat. And you know, I never
- 25:24Speaker 3: thought that anybody would want to hear what I have
- 25:26Speaker 3: to say, but apparently they do do and they still
- 25:28Speaker 3: loving it.
- 25:28Speaker 2: Right now. I have it over.
- 25:29Speaker 3: I have over one hundred and twenty five thousand and
- 25:32Speaker 3: it's still growing. So thank you very much. And that's
- 25:35Speaker 3: how you can find me, I mean, on a YouTube channel.
- 25:37Speaker 3: Your comments, I read them all and of course Instagram.
- 25:40Speaker 3: At testify. Devon, well, Devon, listen here we say scratched.
- 25:44Speaker 2: That figures. But I think we got to end this
- 25:46Speaker 2: show with a good old Testify from Devon Doublin.
