Transcript
- 0:00[SPEAKER_00]: Jacksonville Jaguar's fans, welcome into Duval.
- 0:02[SPEAKER_00]: Daily, presented by jing Jack.com, and fueled by brass tax coffee, best coffee, and town, make sure to check them out for sure.
- 0:07[SPEAKER_00]: So right now, we are talking Jacksonville Jaguar, it's obviously.
- 0:11[SPEAKER_00]: But Jaguar is to the Super Bowl.
- 0:15[SPEAKER_00]: is that illegitimate possibility in 2026?
- 0:17[SPEAKER_00]: It's something we've talked about a little bit before, but Pete Prisco, who covered the Jaguars for a long time and still does a lot of work regarding the Jaguars works with the Jaguars media team at times and does a show over there and works for CBS.
- 0:38[SPEAKER_00]: He predicted,
- 0:39[SPEAKER_00]: George Axonville Jaguar is to win the Super Bowl in 2026, to beat the Cowboys in LA, get their first Lombardi trophy in their first ever Super Bowl appearance.
- 0:51[SPEAKER_00]: And it's not like Pete Priscoz out there just picking the Jaguars to win the Super Bowl ever year.
- 0:57[SPEAKER_00]: He feels pretty confident about this.
- 0:59[SPEAKER_00]: And he said, you know, I know I'll get called a Homer, but I want to be right.
- 1:05[SPEAKER_00]: I'd rather be right.
- 1:07[SPEAKER_00]: and call it a Homer.
- 1:08[SPEAKER_00]: So he strongly believes in the Jaguars when in the Super Bowl.
- 1:12[SPEAKER_00]: And now when it comes to picking a Super Bowl champion, it's best to take the field.
- 1:20[SPEAKER_00]: If you have that option, one team actually navigating, picking one team to actually navigate the entire season to make it to the Super Bowl.
- 1:28[SPEAKER_00]: It's a difficult task, like you're more likely going to be wrong than not, right?
- 1:32[SPEAKER_00]: Could the Jaguars be that team this year?
- 1:36[SPEAKER_00]: You have some people like Prisco who are extremely high on the Jaguars.
- 1:41[SPEAKER_00]: That's fun, right?
- 1:42[SPEAKER_00]: That's very fun.
- 1:43[SPEAKER_00]: Then you also have a lot of websites and media personalities and analysts and such that are more like, the Jaguars are probably a playoff contender, probably a playoff team, but
- 1:59[SPEAKER_00]: probably not a Super Bowl contender, probably not a contender to win the AFC.
- 2:04[SPEAKER_00]: And then you also have other websites where it's like the Jaguars are outside of the top 14 and do they even make the playoffs.
- 2:14[SPEAKER_00]: That's a pretty big gulf in the opinions of the Jaguars heading into 2026 around the web.
- 2:24[SPEAKER_00]: And so I just thought it would be fun to kind of take a look at why a lot of people have such differing opinions.
- 2:32[SPEAKER_00]: I'll talk about my opinion as well afterwards.
- 2:35[SPEAKER_00]: But I think that there's a lot of surface level analysis of the Jaguars.
- 2:41[SPEAKER_00]: out there.
- 2:42[SPEAKER_00]: I think there's a lot of surface level NFL analysis in general out there.
- 2:46[SPEAKER_00]: But again, I think that, you know, Prisco is on the high end, thinking that Jack's win in the Super Bowl.
- 2:52[SPEAKER_00]: I think the low end is having them in the middle of the pack in the NFL.
- 2:56[SPEAKER_00]: It's not like we're back in the, you know, 2021, 20 days, like, where it was like, Jack Wars are the worst team in the NFL.
- 3:03[SPEAKER_00]: So you have that for you, going for you at least.
- 3:06[SPEAKER_00]: But to be completely fair, like,
- 3:12[SPEAKER_00]: The Jack Wars haven't made back to back playoff appearances since 1998 and 99 and I know everybody talks about it, but it's true.
- 3:18[SPEAKER_00]: It's crazy.
- 3:20[SPEAKER_00]: So I think that there is, you know, among fans in the NFL who have been fans for a long time, who have been watching the NFL for a long time, analysts, etc., that have been around, like,
- 3:33[SPEAKER_00]: If you take the Jaguars to not make the playoffs, the year after making the playoffs, you're probably going to be right, generally speaking.
- 3:40[SPEAKER_00]: So I think there is some of that as well, but you know, I don't think that...
- 3:46[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think that...
- 3:48[SPEAKER_00]: Liam Cohen and James Ladsdon and Bicelli and all these people should be penalized for what has happened here in the past necessarily, but it still is a question.
- 3:59[SPEAKER_00]: They got to go do it.
- 4:00[SPEAKER_00]: Absolutely.
- 4:01[SPEAKER_00]: They got to go to it.
- 4:04[SPEAKER_00]: You know, the Jack Wars also, like actually looking at the team, they didn't do a lot of roster upgrading outside of Travis Honer, right?
- 4:12[SPEAKER_00]: Like you get Travis Hunter back.
- 4:13[SPEAKER_00]: That's a big upgrade.
- 4:17[SPEAKER_00]: You lost Devon Lloyd and Travis C.T.
- 4:18[SPEAKER_00]: and everybody loves to talk about that, but you know People didn't want Devon Lloyd in the starting line up at this time last year Much less paying him as a top five linebacker and Travis C.T.
- 4:30[SPEAKER_00]: and Who's a player that everybody thought the jack was we're gonna get rid of because they drafted two running backs last year
- 4:38[SPEAKER_00]: And they both go out and have great seasons in contract years.
- 4:41[SPEAKER_00]: So yes, I do think that they lost two talent to players, two talent to players that I liked.
- 4:47[SPEAKER_00]: But I've always been a Vintral Miller guy.
- 4:50[SPEAKER_00]: Like I think Vintral Miller can do it, especially after when he had to start in Devon Lloyd's play slashed year for like a month due to Devon Lloyd's injury, he played really well.
- 5:01[SPEAKER_00]: And then, you've got to tune that you drafted.
- 5:05[SPEAKER_00]: Like, it's not like you were unprepared for the departure of Travis Eaton.
- 5:08[SPEAKER_00]: You drafted to an and Alan last year.
- 5:12[SPEAKER_00]: You went and got Chris Rodriguez this year.
- 5:14[SPEAKER_00]: Like, they've been doing things to prepare for this and they've been ready for it.
- 5:20[SPEAKER_00]: I think part of the, like, people on the low end as well say like,
- 5:26[SPEAKER_00]: You know, Jaguar's defense, it's going to regress.
- 5:28[SPEAKER_00]: It's not going to be as good as it was last year.
- 5:30[SPEAKER_00]: They were to turn over dependent.
- 5:33[SPEAKER_00]: There's a lot of teams out there that are very inconsistent when it comes to turn over zero over year.
- 5:41[SPEAKER_00]: But there's also teams that aren't like the bears have been a top 10 turn over team three years running.
- 5:48[SPEAKER_00]: The Texans and Steelers have both been in the top five and turn over is forced two years in a row.
- 5:57[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, it's not the stickiest of stats, but if you're a defense that is well coached, that focuses on turning football over, that focuses on punching the ball out, getting interruptions, that plays a lot of zone vision defense.
- 6:14[SPEAKER_00]: eyes in the backfield, that has the talent to go get interceptions, that has the talent to force fumbles, that is coached to do that, and that also stops the run at an extremely high level and puts, opposing offenses in situations to have to throw the ball, and has an offense on the other side.
- 6:34[SPEAKER_00]: That puts up points, I mean, yeah, I think that there's a recipe there for turnovers to be abundant again in 2026, and maybe they won't have the same amount of them,
- 6:45[SPEAKER_00]: You know, I think people really do sleep on how good Anthony Camponele is, and part of that is the turn over thing, but part of it is just like the way he coaches run defense and then also just the talent that he has on the front seven and and the buy in on the back in from a tackling and run defense standpoint, they're the best run defense in football until proven otherwise.
- 7:07[SPEAKER_00]: You also have the fact that Anthony Camponella mixes in matches so many defensive fronts with post-nap coverage rotations on the back end, mainly up the spine of the defense.
- 7:19[SPEAKER_00]: That is very challenging.
- 7:21[SPEAKER_00]: And again, that's part of what can create turnovers to as confusion.
- 7:26[SPEAKER_00]: Confusion by the offensive line with the different defensive fronts that he deployed as a ton of them.
- 7:31[SPEAKER_00]: Guys moving all over the place.
- 7:33[SPEAKER_00]: And then, again, post-nap coverage rotation can confuse the receivers, can confuse the quarterback.
- 7:39[SPEAKER_00]: So, yeah, I think part of it is Anthony Campanila is just straight up underrated and people do not realize how amazing he is.
- 7:47[SPEAKER_00]: Because he's a great leader.
- 7:49[SPEAKER_00]: He gets the most out of like the work ethic standpoint.
- 7:52[SPEAKER_00]: He gets the teaching across.
- 7:55[SPEAKER_00]: But then he's also a very, very good mind when it comes to defensive game planning and designing.
- 8:02[SPEAKER_00]: I think people still question Trevor Lawrence.
- 8:05[SPEAKER_00]: I do.
- 8:06[SPEAKER_00]: And again, it's kind of like the jags.
- 8:08[SPEAKER_00]: He's like kind of like a microcosm of the jags.
- 8:10[SPEAKER_00]: It feels like they get on these unbelievable runs and then fall apart and I don't think a lot of that has been Trevor Lawrence's fault quite frankly.
- 8:20[SPEAKER_00]: there's been bad situations that he's been put into, but I think he's in a damn good situation and I think that he and Liam Cohen are in a good spot, but I do think people still question Trevor Lawrence and look, on the surface, I get it.
- 8:33[SPEAKER_00]: Horrible rookie year, right?
- 8:36[SPEAKER_00]: uh... twenty twenty two starts off a little slow goes on an absolute heater twenty twenty three starts off well and then injuries strike and then thanks for the part twenty twenty four stinker of a season for travel on send got injured again and stinker of a season for the jackwars in general twenty twenty five slow start unbelievable finish so yes there's been lots of ups and downs
- 9:02[SPEAKER_00]: That's literally kind of like, that's the Jackson and Nutshell, although the jag wars have been a lot better with Trevor Lawrence, even with all of the Milwaukee pun intended that has happened in Jacksonville.
- 9:17[SPEAKER_00]: The Jaguars have been much better with Trevor Lawrence, especially since 2022, right?
- 9:21[SPEAKER_00]: His rookie year too much was put on his plate, or my, or was just an absolute, you know, crap show.
- 9:27[SPEAKER_00]: But since then, I mean, he's got a good record.
- 9:31[SPEAKER_00]: He's three winning seasons, all that stuff.
- 9:33[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, I think that that a lot of people, a lot of people still question Trevor.
- 9:48[SPEAKER_00]: The offensive line.
- 9:50[SPEAKER_00]: And there's some legitimate concern there.
- 9:53[SPEAKER_00]: For me, the concern is just like, is Col Van Lannan ready to go.
- 9:57[SPEAKER_00]: when he gets on that field, which should be very soon.
- 9:59[SPEAKER_00]: Whether it's week one or week two, is he ready to go, is he ready to be that guy that we saw at the end of last year?
- 10:06[SPEAKER_00]: You have shuffling from Antons, a right tackle to left tackle, Cole from left tackle to right tackle, as we're Cleveland to right guard in manual pregnon, getting into the starting line up at left guard.
- 10:16[SPEAKER_00]: A lot of moving parts, a lot of talent in my opinion.
- 10:19[SPEAKER_00]: I think, basically, I think if Cole van Landon's ready to go and it's not too big for a manual pregnon,
- 10:27[SPEAKER_00]: This is a very good offensive line, not like top five, but above average, I think that Colvin Lane and Anton Harrison is a legitimately good tackle duo.
- 10:37[SPEAKER_00]: I think Emmanuel Bragnon and Ezra Cleveland, again, if it's not too big for Emmanuel Bragnon as a rookie, is a good talent-wise physicality-wise.
- 10:47[SPEAKER_00]: I think that's a legitimately good duo at guard as well.
- 10:49[SPEAKER_00]: So we'll talk about more about kind of where I fall.
- 10:53[SPEAKER_00]: You can probably tell by some of the things I've talked about here, kind of what I think.
- 10:57[SPEAKER_00]: But we'll talk about are the Jaguar's legitimately a super-wold container.
- 11:01[SPEAKER_00]: Do I think that they're going to win the super-wold, but first, an actual lock is the my bookie lock
- 11:07[SPEAKER_00]: And the first one is a no-brainer with the Patriots in Seattle for NFL kickoff.
- 11:10[SPEAKER_00]: My bookie is asking one symbol question, will the Seahawks raise their championship banner that night?
- 11:15[SPEAKER_00]: Of course they will.
- 11:16[SPEAKER_00]: The defending champs home opener, raising the banner before kickoff is part of the celebration.
- 11:20[SPEAKER_00]: You're getting that bet at plus money odds you're getting paid to say yes.
- 11:24[SPEAKER_00]: That is the first my bookie lock of the season.
- 11:26[SPEAKER_00]: There will be more coming all season long.
- 11:28[SPEAKER_00]: Get in before kickoff, sign up at my bookie with my promo code Duval.
- 11:32[SPEAKER_00]: D-U-V-A-L all caps start your season off with a win.
- 11:35[SPEAKER_00]: Anytime, anywhere that's my book, it could do well.
- 11:37[SPEAKER_00]: It must be 21 plus 18 plus in select jurisdictions.
- 11:40[SPEAKER_00]: Terms are conditions applied, gambling problem called Winning Undergamler, or is it 1-800gamler.net for free, confidential available 24-7.
- 11:47[SPEAKER_00]: So, where do I fall?
- 11:49[SPEAKER_00]: You know, again, Prisco has them winning the Super Bowl.
- 11:53[SPEAKER_00]: I think they are a Super Bowl contender.
- 11:55[SPEAKER_00]: I do.
- 11:56[SPEAKER_00]: I think they are a Super Bowl contender.
- 11:58[SPEAKER_00]: They're contender to win the F-C.
- 12:02[SPEAKER_00]: to go to the Super Bowl.
- 12:05[SPEAKER_00]: But I honestly right now would not predict them to win the Super Bowl.
- 12:18[SPEAKER_00]: To me, this feels like a team that goes to the FC Championship game and maybe there's a missing piece.
- 12:24[SPEAKER_00]: But the beautiful thing about James Gladstone is
- 12:28[SPEAKER_00]: They're already preparing to have the flexibility to make a mid-season move before the trade deadline.
- 12:34[SPEAKER_00]: Should they need to or should something come available where they can add a superstar talent, they can put them over the top, to contend for a title.
- 12:43[SPEAKER_00]: But I just think you look at some of the teams in the NFL.
- 12:47[SPEAKER_00]: You look at the bills, for example.
- 12:50[SPEAKER_00]: I think they're gonna be more creative defensively.
- 12:53[SPEAKER_00]: I think they have more talent defensively.
- 12:57[SPEAKER_00]: than they did at the end of last year, they had to add DJ Moore.
- 13:03[SPEAKER_00]: I think, you know, that's, that's a pretty big Josh Allen is still Josh Allen.
- 13:10[SPEAKER_00]: They still got the same offensive play collar.
- 13:13[SPEAKER_00]: Well, I think is it going to be a little bit more free to do exactly what he wants without, you know, a head coach looming over him.
- 13:22[SPEAKER_00]: He's the head coach now.
- 13:25[SPEAKER_00]: So the bills worry me, I'm not like the Jaguar's can't beat them.
- 13:30[SPEAKER_00]: Clearly, they were right there last year, but I think they've gotten better.
- 13:38[SPEAKER_00]: I do.
- 13:40[SPEAKER_00]: Outside of that, the rest of the AFC isn't like terrifying, but there are obviously teams that can make noise.
- 13:46[SPEAKER_00]: The Ravens now are in a much better spot, I believe, with Jesse Menter coming in there, a little bit more modern offense on the other side of the ball.
- 13:56[SPEAKER_00]: I think like,
- 13:58[SPEAKER_00]: You never want to count the chiefs out.
- 14:00[SPEAKER_00]: I think the chargers look really good.
- 14:01[SPEAKER_00]: Everybody always wants to charge or something bad is gonna happen.
- 14:05[SPEAKER_00]: The bottom is gonna fall out.
- 14:06[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe it will, but there's a lot.
- 14:09[SPEAKER_00]: And the Broncos are still a tough team.
- 14:11[SPEAKER_00]: The Patriots are still a tough team.
- 14:13[SPEAKER_00]: There's a lot going on in the FC, but then you look at the NFC, I mean, cheese.
- 14:19[SPEAKER_00]: The Rams, the Seahawks, the 49ers, the Holy NFC West, looks incredible.
- 14:25[SPEAKER_00]: So it's just,
- 14:27[SPEAKER_00]: predicting a team to win the Super Bowl is a difficult task, obviously, but I would have them in the F.C.
- 14:34[SPEAKER_00]: title game and then that would honestly be my prediction right now.
- 14:40[SPEAKER_00]: F.C.
- 14:40[SPEAKER_00]: title game and then let's see what happens.
- 14:44[SPEAKER_00]: I would probably have them.
- 14:47[SPEAKER_00]: I would probably have them either, and I'll make an official prediction before the season starts next week, but I would probably have them winning the FC South, making it the FC Championship game, and either winning or losing that one and then probably losing in the Super Bowl.
- 15:05[SPEAKER_00]: But I'll have more time to think about that.
- 15:08[SPEAKER_00]: The bottom lines, I do think that they are a Super Bowl contender.
- 15:17[SPEAKER_00]: elite passing game with Trevor, all those receivers, super, super complimentary receiving skill sets.
- 15:26[SPEAKER_00]: Like that is one of the biggest advantages the Jaguars have is those skill sets, how complimentary they are.
- 15:33[SPEAKER_00]: BTJ opens up the field on the vertical plane, Jacobi Myers is a possession receiver that can go over the middle and also win in the short junior media area on the outside.
- 15:43[SPEAKER_00]: Parker Washington, getting unlocked as more of a slot and move piece, can win at all three levels of the field, can get you yack, Britain strange, can win at all three levels of the field, can get you yack, and then you have an even mentioned Travis Hunter, right?
- 15:58[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, Elite Passing Game, again, I think the offensive line is more than good enough if Colman Landon is healthy, I think the running game, that's a big thing people talk about.
- 16:08[SPEAKER_00]: I think the running game will at least be average, I really do, I think
- 16:11[SPEAKER_00]: with the manual pregnant on getting in there as a Cleveland COVID like I think that two and then and Rodriguez run with a little bit more vision and pace.
- 16:20[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's and it's just been a major emphasis.
- 16:22[SPEAKER_00]: I think the running game will be better than it was last year, which is not really asking for all that much.
- 16:30[SPEAKER_00]: defensively I'm very much in on the group.
- 16:32[SPEAKER_00]: Elite run defense probably the best in football.
- 16:34[SPEAKER_00]: Everyone says the turnover dependency thing but again I mentioned like I think the way they coach it up, the talent that they have, there is examples around the league of teams being able to produce high turnover margins year over year.
- 16:47[SPEAKER_00]: I think the Jaguars could do that again.
- 16:49[SPEAKER_00]: I think special teams will be huge for this football team.
- 16:52[SPEAKER_00]: We always gloss over special teams and
- 16:57[SPEAKER_00]: You have a weapon in Logan Cook.
- 17:00[SPEAKER_00]: You have Ross Madison.
- 17:01[SPEAKER_00]: You have one of the best special teams coaches if not the best and all of football.
- 17:06[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, let's go.
- 17:07[SPEAKER_00]: And I think the Jaguars just have the goods, like you look across the board.
- 17:12[SPEAKER_00]: I think they have the goods and they very well could be a Super Bowl team.
- 17:16[SPEAKER_00]: They're definitely to me top tier AFC.
- 17:18[SPEAKER_00]: The top tier of the AFC is the bills in the Jaguars.
- 17:22[SPEAKER_00]: I do feel strongly about that.
- 17:24[SPEAKER_00]: I think the Jaguars are better than the Broncos and Patriots.
- 17:27[SPEAKER_00]: I think the Bills are too.
- 17:28[SPEAKER_00]: We're going to find out more about that as the season rolls along.
- 17:31[SPEAKER_00]: The Jaguars play the Broncos and the Patriots in week two and week three.
- 17:35[SPEAKER_00]: So that's going to be very interesting.
- 17:37[SPEAKER_00]: Hopefully I don't have to bite my words early on.
- 17:39[SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, that's where I'm at.
- 17:40[SPEAKER_00]: Really appreciate y'all being here.
