- 5:05listening or watching this later on with your family at a you
- 5:08know when when you guys have downtime.
- 5:12Whichever way you you, you decide to to do it.
- 5:14It's much appreciated, so thank you.
- 5:16All right, so anyway, now we got all the the.
- 5:19The housekeeping stuff by the. Way why did I want to record
- 5:22today and in in this fashion I'm in my work office.
- 5:25I'm on kind of like a lunch break from from work.
- 5:30Normally I record these things in the Evening Times during, you
- 5:35know, on on Mondays when I'm, when I'm not doing anything else
- 5:38in my main recording space with the banner and everything behind
- 5:42me that you guys are. Used to.
- 5:44To seeing in in season 6. So the reason why I'm doing
- 5:48this? Here today is 2.
- 5:49Reasons #1 is that the day that I normally record is on Mondays
- 5:53and Monday. This week, the 21st, was my
- 5:56eighth year wedding anniversary. So I had.
- 6:01We have family that comes in from out of town on my wife's
- 6:03side. They live in California and
- 6:05North Carolina respectfully respectively.
- 6:07They they come in every year around this time of year.
- 6:09Too, Because. One of her aunt's.
- 6:12Birthdays is 2 days. Before our anniversary.
- 6:16Her other. Aunt and uncle are on her dad's
- 6:20side. Are also.
- 6:22Celebrating an anniversary the with within a week of hours.
- 6:28So they always come out this time of year and and we all
- 6:31gather, you know, it's the one time of year that the family
- 6:33gets together and and we celebrate all of those things
- 6:35together. So it's a it's kind of a family
- 6:37tradition. So that's the main reason why I
- 6:40didn't, you know, set Monday night.
- 6:42Aside to record. Because I was doing family stuff
- 6:45and then after dinner, you know, I wanted to keep my evening
- 6:50available to, to spend time with my wife, whether we watch a
- 6:53movie or, you know, just enjoy time with one another without
- 6:59any other, you know, obligations or things like that.
- 7:05So yes, eight years together, we made a joke or I made a joke.
- 7:10I don't think my wife found it too funny.
- 7:12I made a joke that my my 8th year wedding gift from her was,
- 7:17you know, an anniversary gift from her was a was a was a urn.
- 7:22Or a headstone. Because I know I give her more
- 7:25grief than I should. But bless her heart man, she's
- 7:30she's the best. Person that I know you know the
- 7:33best thing that's ever happened to me in a relationship and I.
- 7:39I have a lot of of. Improvements to make to, you
- 7:43know, show my appreciation to her and to make her feel like
- 7:47she is as important as she is to me.
- 7:52So then the other reason why you know, I I didn't or I I.
- 7:56Decided to to do the podcast today is because today.
- 8:00At the time of this recording. Is Earth Day April?
- 8:0722nd and you know so. That's like a big.
- 8:13Calendar date where people. Like to be conscious of our.
- 8:19Impact to the earth, right so so all of the environmentalists and
- 8:27activists and and and and and folks you know that that do this
- 8:32stuff every day that that think about our impact, our footprint,
- 8:37the carbon footprint that we. Leave by our behavior.
- 8:41You know, these are these are things that are there in their
- 8:43day-to-day. Lives, but you have other folks
- 8:46who. Seasonally, occasionally
- 8:51casually, they don't think about this stuff.
- 8:53And then of course, Earth Day comes around and, oh, protect
- 8:55the earth, you know, save the earth and think green and, you
- 8:58know, pick up trash and all this kind of stuff.
- 9:00Well, it got me thinking that, you know, OK, we've got this
- 9:04calendar date here, at least in the United States, where
- 9:07everybody becomes. Hyper aware.
- 9:10And conscious of again our our impact on the earth and what we
- 9:16do and how. We treat the Earth.
- 9:20And it made me start to think about the the importance that
- 9:23the earth was and and has been to dramatic heathens, our
- 9:27ancient ancestors in in even heathens now and today, and the
- 9:32importance. That the earth is in our beliefs
- 9:36so. The more I got to thinking about
- 9:38it, the more I, I, I go, yeah. Do we have any examples of
- 9:44ancient pre Christian practices or you know any sources that
- 9:49that point us in the direction? That the Earth specifically.
- 9:53Not, you know. The Gods of.
- 9:55You know. War or the sky?
- 9:58Or fertility, or anything. But like the Earth specifically,
- 10:00is there anything that we know of that can help us become
- 10:07informed of the? Ways that that the.
- 10:09Pre Christian Germanic tribes viewed the importance of the.
- 10:13Earth or viewed the. Earth, you know, and there are
- 10:15quite a few things that I'm going.
- 10:17To talk about today. Some of which you might know
- 10:20about, some of which you might have not.
- 10:25Heard before. You know, but either way, if if
- 10:29it is something that you're new to, you know, let me know, you
- 10:37know, share it in the comments. You can write into
- 10:39thepodcastmidgardmusingstn@gmail.com. You can call into the podcast
- 10:44hotline, which is a a 24 hour number.
- 10:47You can call and leave a voicemail.
- 10:49You can call 615671983. Two share your thoughts.
- 10:55Let us know what you think about it.
- 10:57All right. So it really should have come as
- 10:58no surprise, right? I mean with, with pretty much
- 11:00any Pagan belief or any Pagan practice, you know, nature is a
- 11:04central. Focus there.
- 11:05There's obvious. Things about Pagan practices
- 11:08across cultures that make it very clear and obvious that, you
- 11:12know, nature is is central. Nature is important in our
- 11:15relationship. As people.
- 11:18With nature sharing in space and engaging with the spirits that
- 11:24inhabit. That space is a is a very
- 11:29important aspect. Of a lot of Pagan beliefs and
- 11:33Germanic heathenry is is no different so one of the fun
- 11:38things I like to. To to do is.
- 11:40Is is look up, you know. How?
- 11:42How far back? Can we find examples of of stuff
- 11:44like this being important and what was ever documented?
- 11:47And it's it's hard to find things for the for the Germanic
- 11:49peoples because by and large they were not, at least in pre
- 11:53Christian times, they were, they were never ones they were they.
- 11:56First of all, they were they were illiterate.
- 11:58They didn't have, you know, anything to write things down or
- 12:01they, they couldn't read or write or what they could read
- 12:05were, you know, they're ruining characters and they didn't have
- 12:06any, you know, paper or anything.
- 12:08Pens and paper weren't a thing. Paper wasn't really a thing.
- 12:10It was, you know, you didn't write stuff down.
- 12:13To share your beliefs. It was all.
- 12:14Passed down orally so the the the documentation of things most
- 12:21things from lore and and and sagas and all of that didn't
- 12:25come about until Christianity began to spread and you and you
- 12:30and and you had more literate. People.
- 12:36Living in those areas, documenting things or or or
- 12:39educating the local Indigenous people.
- 12:44But so like. One primary source that we.
- 12:46Do have that that is AI guess I would at least.
- 12:50Consider a primary. Source of of.
- 12:53Germanic tribes, behavior, beliefs, worldviews, things like
- 12:56that is from Tacitus, because the reason why I say that I.
- 13:00Believe Tacitus. Can be considered a primary.
- 13:02Source is Tacitus. Does not write his things down
- 13:07from any sort of Christian bias. You know he doesn't have
- 13:11Christian bias. He is a Pagan at the time,
- 13:13albeit a Roman Pagan, but his. Views of the.
- 13:17World are a you know they they are from a from through a Roman
- 13:24Pagan perspective. So what he sees, or what he at
- 13:27least is. Witnessed to by hearsay.
- 13:31Or. Eyewitness accounts or or.
- 13:34The the, the the. Reports of other things going on
- 13:36and around him is he's just taking the in and he's
- 13:39documenting them. As he sees.
- 13:41It or as he's hearing it, there's no.
- 13:43Twist to it so. One of the things that Tacitus
- 13:50documents about and I believe. This is a.
- 13:56Line from Germania from Tacitus is Germania maybe chapter 2 or
- 14:05something like that, but in this is.
- 14:11This is This is. Not verbatim, I don't think,
- 14:15actually, At least not the intro.
- 14:17So anyway, Tacitus begins one of his accounts by telling or or
- 14:21talking about the the Lango Boardi or the Langabardi, which
- 14:27are the Lombards of the Lombardis.
- 14:31Right, the tribe. That is distinguished by their
- 14:33boldness in battle, who, despite their small number, retained
- 14:40their independence in the midst of of mighty neighbors made-up
- 14:44of seven tribes, including the Angli.
- 14:48OK. And the Angli are the ancestors
- 14:49of the English of? The angles so.
- 14:54So so this next portion of of. Is is what Tacitus writes he.
- 14:58Says that the Longa Bardi. The Longa Bardi are
- 15:01distinguished by being few in number, surrounded by many
- 15:04mighty. People they have protected.
- 15:08Themselves, not by submissiveness.
- 15:10But by battle. And boldness next to them and he
- 15:15starts naming a bunch of of different tribes.
- 15:17He's next to them comes in. But by the way, I'm not a
- 15:19linguist, I'm not a, a reconstructionist or not a
- 15:22historian. So some of the names, if I'm
- 15:24saying them incorrectly, if I'm putting the wrong emphasis on
- 15:26it, I'm I'm sorry. But next to the Langabardis, he
- 15:31says, come the the Rudinghi, the Aviones, the Angli, the Varani,
- 15:39the Udonsis, the Swarinis and the Quatones, protected by
- 15:45rivers and. Forests there is.
- 15:48Nothing especially noteworthy about these states individually,
- 15:52but they are distinguished by a common worship of nerthus.
- 15:57That is. Mother Earth and believes she
- 16:02intervenes in human affairs and rides.
- 16:05Through their peoples. Now this is an interesting
- 16:10observation from. Tacitus that.
- 16:13Reinforces the idea that not just certain tribes, but many of
- 16:19the Germanic peoples, at least in this portion of of of the
- 16:23continent, were distinguished by a common veneration or.
- 16:29Worship of the Earth. Under the name Nerthus and.
- 16:35There is a very particular example of of a.
- 16:40Celebration of Nerthus later on where the statue of Nerthus was
- 16:45brought. Out of a cave.
- 16:47From an island on a cart and and paraded into a village, into the
- 16:53village where. Where gifts were.
- 16:54Given and and there was this time of of worship, and it was.
- 16:57Brought to a sacred. Grove and then.
- 17:03Brought back. And and kept away.
- 17:06So there was, there's there's. Definitely a common theme here
- 17:09We. We we do see.
- 17:11Historically that the Germanic peoples had a common worship of
- 17:15Nerthus. Now what they did, how they did
- 17:17it. Doesn't he doesn't get into, but
- 17:23we definitely see that. They had a a.
- 17:27Important role placed on Earth. Mother Earth as they say.
- 17:31Nerthus now outside of Tacitus, and this is a much later source
- 17:35and arguably something that is echoes of a Pagan.
- 17:41Belief or or or. Pagan practices from the Anglo
- 17:45Saxons, I believe the name of it.
- 17:50Would be the Acerbot. So again, if if I'm saying it
- 17:54incorrectly, if my old English is not correct, if if it's not.
- 17:58Acerbot. It's Acerbot.
- 18:00But it's an 11th century charm again, Anglo-Saxon, so Old
- 18:04English, and that means. Basically like a field.
- 18:08Charm is the blessing of. The the the fields.
- 18:12For crops and things like this. So in that charm the name ershe.
- 18:17ERCE. Or ersa again, if if I'm, I
- 18:22don't. I don't know enough of Old
- 18:23English to know if that. C says like A.
- 18:25Sound or a sound or a sound so. Ersha Ersha Ersa.
- 18:32That name is chanted 3 times. So it.
- 18:38Would it? It's in the charm.
- 18:39It's like. It says Earth.
- 18:42And Mother, Mother Earth, Earth and Mother, or Earth, Mother.
- 18:49And then there's a ritual performed which takes.
- 18:51A full day. If you want to do your own
- 18:53research, I'll leave some information in the show notes or
- 18:56the description area below in the video.
- 18:59Of of a place that you can start.
- 19:00To look for information about this Acer boat.
- 19:04But is it? Is it is a ritual that takes a
- 19:07full? Day there's a bunch of things
- 19:08talking about it and there are definitely some things about it
- 19:11later on that that are Christian OK, there's there's obvious
- 19:17mentions of Lord God and and and and all of that but.
- 19:21There's there's there's also this.
- 19:23Mention of of of of Earth mother.
- 19:27So when I say. You know earlier A.
- 19:28Later version. This is an 11th century thing.
- 19:32Obviously, Christianity has already become part.
- 19:35Of the of the. Regions identity.
- 19:43So anyways, during this this this ritual the.
- 19:45Rituals there were be 4 sods of earth.
- 19:51Taken from the field and then a. Poultice applied to the.
- 19:56Root mass. They then returned.
- 20:01Those those those sods of. Earth are then returned and
- 20:05chanting over them. The charm continues.
- 20:07As the field is plowed. As they're preparing to.
- 20:11Start their crops or. Whatever.
- 20:13So again, some Christianized elements of the ritual they
- 20:21think there's mention again, aside from the mention of the
- 20:24the the Christian God there. Is use of.
- 20:27Frankincense in the poultice and also the sign of the.
- 20:33Cross or or or. Or a Christian cross put on each
- 20:36of the pieces. Of sod.
- 20:38But the main elements of the ritual do seem to be very part
- 20:43of an older and more authentic Pagan tradition of the area.
- 20:53And then there's. Also a.
- 20:55Note of one thing that says that Ersha.
- 20:57Is that to? Stem from Ershan.
- 21:04Did I say it right? Aerschnan meaning true, genuine,
- 21:08or holy, from an earlier goddess named most likely to be Aersche,
- 21:13meaning Mother of Earth. EORCE so either.
- 21:18The mother of Earth or mother Earth, Earth, mother, right?
- 21:20So again, a very similar, almost identical acknowledgement of the
- 21:28earth being not just feminine, but a mother, a mother figure.
- 21:38And what else? Yeah.
- 21:41So there's there's. Two, you know, sources or or two
- 21:44examples of Germanic peoples you know, so the early Germanic
- 21:54tribes and then later on in the 11th century, the Anglo Saxons,
- 21:57which are still Germanic. Had.
- 22:01A had a belief and had a worldview that encompassed earth
- 22:05veneration, Earth worship if you will.
- 22:10Another thing that I remember hearing about.
- 22:14Is. This goes back to the lungbards
- 22:18or the lungabardi and their and their particular focus on tree
- 22:23worship. So.
- 22:29I'm going to try and find the source OK?
- 22:35So this is a the history. Of the Longabards by Paul the
- 22:42Deacon in this writing. It contains one of the best
- 22:53original accounts of continental Germanic myths in the story of
- 23:00their naming. Of of of like.
- 23:03Freya playing a trick on Odin, but it's.
- 23:05Freya, Freya FRIJ. A Freya playing a trick on Woden
- 23:11but. However, there is a.
- 23:13Lesser known source on the life of Saint Barbatus, which attests
- 23:18to continued heathen practices by the Longabards in the Dutchie
- 23:23of Benenbento around the 600 sixties, So in the 6th.
- 23:28Before. The seven hundreds before we
- 23:32start seeing you know the Viking Age in in in northern Europe
- 23:35take place This is this is happening in the six 60s of the
- 23:39Common Era and so the. This this Paul the.
- 23:46Deacon, right, Obviously very Christian, you know, obviously
- 23:50no doubt, but he recounts thou the the the Longbards
- 23:54worshipped. At a sacred tree.
- 23:57Located in the woods. Outside of.
- 23:59Benevento and they would hang sacrifices in the tree.
- 24:04They would hang them in the in the, you know, among the
- 24:05branches. They would then hold
- 24:07competitions where each man would.
- 24:09Spur their horses to ride as hard as they could.
- 24:11Towards the sacrifice and spear off a chunk of meat with their
- 24:14lances. Which?
- 24:17They would then eat. And because this site was where
- 24:20they swore. Oaths.
- 24:21They named it Voltan, which means vow or oath.
- 24:26So VO. TUM, there was one particular
- 24:32Duke his name was. He was a Longabaardic Duke named
- 24:37Grimwald. He.
- 24:41Refused to ban this practice by saying that it was an excellent
- 24:44thing Quote it was an excellent thing to.
- 24:46Observe the law of. Their ancestors, and so often.
- 24:55And you know, quite often, as we see, there's there's, you know,
- 24:56divine retribution soon follows that in the form of an invasion
- 25:00of southern Italy by Eastern Roman Emperor Constant the
- 25:03second Constance the second with the long bards under siege in
- 25:07Benevento, St. Barbatus called on them to
- 25:10convert and be saved. Enough with your Pagan ways.
- 25:15Enough with all of this. We're being invaded.
- 25:17It's time to to. To get your act together I
- 25:20guess. And, and so, so they did, but
- 25:27they did so, and then the, the Byzantine forces that were
- 25:33there, they, they, you know, miraculously, you know,
- 25:35abandoned. The siege of of.
- 25:38Saint Barbatus and then. Just like with.
- 25:45Is it St. Boniface just like what Boniface
- 25:49did with Donar's Oak in Saxony? It's a very similar thing.
- 25:56So so this St. Barbatus dude, he he chops down
- 26:00the tree or. Or has the.
- 26:01Tree that the Longbards would. Conduct their sacrifices at.
- 26:07He he had the tree cut down and rooted out, even down to the
- 26:11stump so that there would be no recollection of its location.
- 26:16And much like with Donor's oak or the site of the Irmin sole
- 26:20for the Saxons, there was a church.
- 26:21Erected. And.
- 26:27The the the church. Or the name of that.
- 26:30Spot is, was is. Santa Maria del Volto.
- 26:33So what do we see? Here?
- 26:37We see. Yet another example we we
- 26:39definitely know that that the Saxons, the Long bards, the
- 26:43Germanic tribes in general. They they had a.
- 26:46Very important view of. Where they?
- 26:52Would conduct their religious. Affairs where they would be.
- 26:57Connecting with the Gods. Where they would be?
- 26:59Sacrificing they would give. Gifts.
- 27:02It was in nature. It were it.
- 27:04Was in sacred Groves. Often times there was a.
- 27:08Tree dedicated to the site for the practice to to to.
- 27:14To take place in tacitus again goes back to to saying that the.
- 27:21The the they, they. They shared this common worship
- 27:24of of nerthus, and I think that that is enough evidence.
- 27:31To to to prove. And and to confirm that the
- 27:36Germanic peoples held in high regard.
- 27:39The Earth, it was life. Giving they, they relied on the
- 27:44Earth's bounty to live, so they, you know, when they would plant
- 27:49their crops, it was, you know, to make sure.
- 27:51That the earth was was healthy. This is it.
- 27:54It was a daily part of their life.
- 27:56It wasn't a. Day of the year or a week of the
- 27:59year? Or a day of the month or
- 28:00something that they would think. About it casually or?
- 28:03Just in passing. It was a it was a belief that
- 28:09they carried. With them all the time, it was
- 28:12their life and. It's sad to say.
- 28:18You know that I don't think a lot of modern heathens give
- 28:24enough attention to this. I, you know, I, I, I'm very
- 28:27candid about my, my. Practices to the degree.
- 28:30That I'll say I'm an animist. Germanic heathen, yes, but but
- 28:34animistic through and through. I I I thoroughly, I truly
- 28:39believe. Of the the Presence.
- 28:44Of Spirit. In everything around me, in, in
- 28:47the river that I live by, in the trees that are planted near my
- 28:50house in the ground, you know, the animals, you know, like this
- 28:58is all, these are all things that whether animated or not,
- 29:01whether they move to my visible eye or not, they, they, they
- 29:04contain spirit. And it has reinforced and
- 29:09strengthened my relationship with Mother Earth.
- 29:13You know the nurse? Would call her yord yorder where
- 29:16I believe. Is it might be cognate, you
- 29:20know, again, I'm not a linguist, but I believe.
- 29:22Yours is is. Cognate to yard where we get our
- 29:25English, Modern English word yard.
- 29:29Maybe if there's a linguist out here that that knows more.
- 29:31About it could. Could confirm for me or not.
- 29:34But. I think some of the you know.
- 29:37These these words Airsha. You know Airtha motor.
- 29:41Like these are these are words that are very.
- 29:43Similar to our modern English earth and yard and.
- 29:51The the the. Sacredness of Earth has been
- 29:54recognized by. A lot of cultures, a lot of
- 29:57people for, a lot for. A For a very long time.
- 29:59And the Germanic people are no different.
- 30:02They had their names. For her, they had.
- 30:05Their names or recognitions and and how they would venerate.
- 30:08But it was always in nature they did.
- 30:10It was. Whether it was Earth herself or
- 30:13the gods. In, in, in ritual and sacrifice.
- 30:16It was done in nature. It wasn't done under a roof in a
- 30:20temple or church or anything like that.
- 30:23It was done outdoors. It was done in nature, you know,
- 30:28and the reason why I say like, you know, with modern heathens,
- 30:32modern times, we do, we live in such a, an interesting time
- 30:35where where, you know, heathenry is becoming.
- 30:38So I won't necessarily say prevalent 'cause it's, we are,
- 30:45it is still a minority belief, but it's popular, you know,
- 30:49it's, it's gaining traction and it has for quite some time, you
- 30:54know, and then when somebody puts on an event or, or, or
- 30:57something, and it's, you know, come on out to this thing and
- 30:59we're doing it outdoors. How many people are like, ah,
- 31:03it's too hot and it's too cold and it's raining, you know, and
- 31:07I'll be, I'll admit, as much as I love the outdoors, I do enjoy
- 31:11the comforts of modern living. And I am a N man, I was born and
- 31:17raised in New York and I have, I am hot natured.
- 31:21So living in the South where it's, you know, summertime, you
- 31:26know, 70% of the year and it's a humid heat, you know, I, I am,
- 31:31I'm. Like I'd rather be cool.
- 31:34I'd rather be. Cold.
- 31:35If I'm going to be outdoors, I'd rather be, you know, having to
- 31:38put layers on or something and. But it does it.
- 31:41It it gives me reason to think like, oh man, like, you know,
- 31:44you, you, you claim to be this, you know, person that believes
- 31:46in in something and then so much of what that belief.
- 31:48Is, is, is. Founded in the the worship, the
- 31:55veneration of of nature, of earth, of our mother.
- 31:59And you don't want to spend time with her.
- 32:00You don't want to be out taking care of her.
- 32:05Being a custodian of the land and picking up things on a
- 32:08regular basis. You know, when you see
- 32:10something, do something. I mean, I can't tell you how
- 32:13many times when I'm on the river.
- 32:16Where right where I. Live, you know I'm always
- 32:18picking up trash. Because it's always there.
- 32:20There's there's always that. Presence.
- 32:24Of of of our. Human.
- 32:28Species which is neglectful. They they don't care.
- 32:31Or they're or they're. Careless to the point.
- 32:34That they just think. Well, somebody else will do it
- 32:37or it's not that big of a deal. I mean, I'm sorry, it's it's.
- 32:40It is a big. Deal.
- 32:41This is our home. This is our mother.
- 32:44She has nurtured us and and we don't show enough thanks.
- 32:50We don't, we don't give enough recognition to her, as you know,
- 32:53in general, you know, any I. Didn't realize this is.
- 32:55You know, a Heathen podcast, and there's probably going to be
- 32:59some people who don't necessarily subscribe to Heathen
- 33:02Values Heathen. Worldview of of.
- 33:05Of the Germanic people. However, you are still a part of
- 33:09this world. You are still of this earth.
- 33:11This is our. Home for now.
- 33:14This is our space. That we've been given for now.
- 33:18Take care of her, love her, protect her.
- 33:24You know, and she will do that. For you we, we.
- 33:26Have this wonderful opportunity on a daily basis.
- 33:31I don't, you know, it doesn't matter where you live to
- 33:35disconnect from technology, disconnect from your phones,
- 33:39from your computers, from your life in technology and put your
- 33:43bare skin touch earth and and. Feel the.
- 33:48Vibration of the mother. Release your.
- 33:53Burdens to her. Because she can carry.
- 33:55Those things you know and then. Feel the.
- 33:58Healing that she brings. Back to you.
- 34:01And. Reciprocate that love by.
- 34:07Leaving as as as minimal of a carbon footprint that as you
- 34:12can, you know, be as organic as you can be in your in your
- 34:17lifestyle. The consumable waste, you know,
- 34:23the the things that we consume. That we discard.
- 34:26You know, how much of that can we eliminate using things of of
- 34:30a synthetic nature and and change to a more organic
- 34:33approach to it, You know, paper goods instead of plastic, you
- 34:39know, paper. Is is biodegradable?
- 34:41It can. It can be emulated or buried and
- 34:43it won't. Hurt the earth.
- 34:46Or as you know, these, these plastics and, and things are,
- 34:49are, are poison. And I, you know, I'm not trying
- 34:54to be sitting here acting like I'm, you know, exempt from, from
- 34:58any of the things that I'm talking about because, you know,
- 35:00was a. Couple weeks ago.
- 35:01When I you know. Helped host a.
- 35:03Cigar bloat celebration at a park you know.
- 35:06All of our to. Go containers were Styrofoam and
- 35:08all of our, you know, plates were Styrofoam.
- 35:10It's cheap. It's it's, you know, it's easy
- 35:12to obtain. And so again, I'm not delusional
- 35:16to be like, I'm just telling you what to do and I'm not doing it
- 35:18myself. I realize and I recognize.
- 35:20That I have. Barriers to improve in as well,
- 35:24you know, when what we can be doing, what I can be doing
- 35:26individually, I, I, I want to, I want to reflect the change that
- 35:32I want to see. I want to be the change that I
- 35:36want to see in the world, you know?
- 35:38Part of it is. Talking about it?
- 35:40Sure. But.
- 35:43More of more, the more importantly is is the doing of
- 35:46it and showing, showing, showing up you know and showing people
- 35:51you know. This.
- 35:52Is how it's done. And don't do it for the cloud,
- 35:55don't do it for the recognition. I'm not, you know.
- 35:57I talk. About these types of things
- 35:58because I have a podcast. And this is a.
- 36:00Platform to talk about things on, you know, to have a voice to
- 36:05to to say things and to share. But I, I.
- 36:10I you know, but I don't. Just talk about it.
- 36:14When I'm on the river and I'm spending time.
- 36:18With. Spirit healing myself,
- 36:21connecting. With the Earth.
- 36:23Being in that space in that time I'm aware of.
- 36:25The fact that there's trash that people have left here, it's like
- 36:30it's. Their own dumping grant, like
- 36:31there's their personal dumping ground and I'll go, this is this
- 36:34is terrible. You know it, it brings it brings
- 36:37sorrow to my heart. To see the way that people.
- 36:42In general, are treating our home so I try to, you know, do
- 36:50more than I talk about, but it's Earth Day, OK, and.
- 36:56You're at least at. The time of this recording.
- 37:00You know when you by the time you all listen to this in full.
- 37:03This will have already passed. But maybe it'll be a fresh thing
- 37:06in your mind. Maybe.
- 37:07You've had thoughts about? It this week.
- 37:08Maybe you were even talking. About stuff like this this week,
- 37:12with your people, with. Your inner circles, with your
- 37:14friends, with your families, with your tribes, your kindreds,
- 37:16etcetera. Maybe this gives you something
- 37:19else to talk about the next time you get together, and maybe
- 37:22coordinate and organize efforts. To.
- 37:25Apply some of the things that I said on a, on a, on a group
- 37:28setting or any group setting. You know, what better way to
- 37:31bring your people together than to find a common interest in
- 37:40being custodians of the land, of being caretakers of our mother.
- 37:47You know, doing it as one person is.
- 37:51Is is is great? You know, doing it together,
- 37:54bringing the family together, bringing your people together is
- 37:59even better. So that's going to be my, my, my
- 38:05little. Episode for this week.
- 38:06Again, not a very long one. I hope that you found it
- 38:10interesting and that. You know if you.
- 38:11Did get a chance to think about the importance?
- 38:15Of of how we behave towards. Our Mother Earth and how we
- 38:22interact with spirit around us. That it has been inspiring for
- 38:26you and it has helped. Maybe in your growth?
- 38:29As a person, as a heathen, just in general.
- 38:35So if you did enjoy this episode, let me know in the
