- 0:10Speaker 1: Wait, I'm a check. Both get your things. Wait the adults.
- 0:30Speaker 2: Hey, everybody, welcome to Conspiracy The Show. I'm Adam Todd Brown,
- 0:35Speaker 2: I'm Olivia Heidar, and we are your hosts for the
- 0:38Speaker 2: next two weeks.
- 0:39Speaker 1: Yeah, we recorded him out of order.
- 0:41Speaker 2: We just we just recorded a doozy of an episode
- 0:44Speaker 2: that's going up next week.
- 0:45Speaker 3: True, it's like memento. You can listen to them backwards
- 0:47Speaker 3: and get the full picture exactly. But today we're we're
- 0:52Speaker 3: talking about some timely news. Yes, this is ripped from
- 0:56Speaker 3: the headlines.
- 0:57Speaker 1: In order style.
- 0:58Speaker 2: Hell.
- 0:58Speaker 1: Yeah, callis dick Wolf. Yeah, we are the dick Wolf
- 1:01Speaker 1: of podcast.
- 1:04Speaker 2: We're talking about the two conspiracy theories that are at
- 1:09Speaker 2: the heart of Trump's impeachment trial.
- 1:13Speaker 1: And I have in the notes. So fun. It's gonna
- 1:18Speaker 1: be a really good time. Yeah.
- 1:20Speaker 3: Lots of lots of very like normal things all happening
- 1:25Speaker 3: throughout the throughout this entire us mess of everything. Yeah,
- 1:30Speaker 3: it's been a good run. It's been a good run
- 1:31Speaker 3: since two k sixteen. I've just been having the time
- 1:34Speaker 3: of my life, hasn't everyone. I mean, it's been so
- 1:36Speaker 3: good for comedy, yeah, got it, man, punk music and
- 1:40Speaker 3: punk music, just the best punk music is coming out now.
- 1:43Speaker 1: Yeah, it sure is.
- 1:47Speaker 4: So.
- 1:47Speaker 2: Yeah, we're talking about people have been asking me to
- 1:51Speaker 2: do some sort of impeachment episode, and it's like covering
- 1:56Speaker 2: the actual impeachment trial. It's like how many different people
- 2:00Speaker 2: you want to hear say the same thing? Right, There's
- 2:03Speaker 2: really not a lot of interesting details in the impeachment trial,
- 2:08Speaker 2: Like there's different people saying Yep, he did this.
- 2:10Speaker 1: Also, would I don't know that.
- 2:12Speaker 3: Would that be part of the Would that be appropriate
- 2:15Speaker 3: for the conspiracy show?
- 2:17Speaker 1: No, it wouldn't.
- 2:17Speaker 2: But it also from an entertainment standpoint, wouldn't be appropriate
- 2:21Speaker 2: for any show.
- 2:22Speaker 1: If it would just be not super entertaining, really boring.
- 2:25Speaker 2: But there are two conspiracy theories, if that's what you
- 2:30Speaker 2: want to call it, that the entire thing sort of
- 2:33Speaker 2: centers around, and we're going to talk about those and
- 2:37Speaker 2: about whether there's any credence to either of them. Yeah,
- 2:41Speaker 2: kind of the foundational right and the there's only one
- 2:45Speaker 2: that's ever really called a conspiracy, and that's crowd Strike, okay,
- 2:49Speaker 2: which is the one we'll talk about first. The other
- 2:52Speaker 2: one is Barisma, but related, Yeah, they are, they are
- 2:57Speaker 2: definitely related. Crowd Strike the basic premise is this The
- 3:02Speaker 2: twenty sixteen hacking of the DNC was a setup perpetrated
- 3:08Speaker 2: with help from Ukraine to fabricate computer records to frame
- 3:12Speaker 2: Russia for the hack, which probably not.
- 3:15Speaker 3: No, I mean that sounds like a lot of effort.
- 3:18Speaker 3: It's a whole lot of work to lose, yes, which
- 3:23Speaker 3: is where like so like this whole this is kind
- 3:27Speaker 3: of one of those This is one of the items
- 3:29Speaker 3: that is at the heart of the whole. The DNC
- 3:32Speaker 3: colluded to hack the election in favor of Hillary Clinton.
- 3:36Speaker 3: The thing that has always struck me about that theory
- 3:39Speaker 3: is that Hillary Clinton lost that election, so.
- 3:44Speaker 2: Right it it became pretty apparent that Trump was just
- 3:48Speaker 2: going to keep that suggestion in his back pocket, right
- 3:51Speaker 2: in case he lost.
- 3:52Speaker 1: Yeah, Which I love.
- 3:54Speaker 2: That in light of stuff like that, there are still
- 3:56Speaker 2: people in twenty twenty who are like Trump didn't even
- 3:59Speaker 2: want to be pressed.
- 4:00Speaker 1: He really fucking wanted to be pressed. He wanted to win, Yeah,
- 4:03Speaker 1: and that's his whole thing, and he did.
- 4:05Speaker 2: And the fact that he wants to win again in
- 4:08Speaker 2: twenty twenty is at the heart, yeah, of what's happening here.
- 4:13Speaker 3: I think, and I think the idea of him wanting
- 4:15Speaker 3: to win the presidency is a separate issue from the
- 4:18Speaker 3: idea of him wanting.
- 4:20Speaker 1: To have the job of president. Right.
- 4:23Speaker 3: I think he obviously is not very interested in the
- 4:27Speaker 3: job of president, as has been evidenced by how he
- 4:31Speaker 3: treats those jobs very casually.
- 4:35Speaker 1: I think we could say it's one way to put it.
- 4:38Speaker 3: But the fact that he wants he wants desperately to
- 4:42Speaker 3: win the election though, like that is the most important
- 4:45Speaker 3: thing to him, right, and he might yeah, he probably will.
- 4:48Speaker 2: But so crowd Strike, it's a conspiracy that Trump has
- 4:53Speaker 2: been tossing around since at least twenty seventeen. Yeah, that's
- 4:56Speaker 2: when he told the Associated Press that he didn't trust
- 5:00Speaker 2: crowd strike and that he quote heard its owned by
- 5:03Speaker 2: a very rich Ukrainian.
- 5:06Speaker 1: Yeah, which it's not. No, No.
- 5:08Speaker 2: This story came back to life when the Trump administration
- 5:13Speaker 2: tried to defend itself from allegations of wrongdoing, like the
- 5:19Speaker 2: allegations at the heart of the impeachment, by releasing a
- 5:21Speaker 2: transcript of a call Trump had with Ukrainian President Wilodimir Zelenski.
- 5:27Speaker 2: And this move was vintage Trump for starters. The title
- 5:33Speaker 2: of the document let me just boy, so you can
- 5:37Speaker 2: see this live and in person. The title of the document,
- 5:42Speaker 2: as released by the fucking White House is just the
- 5:46Speaker 2: word transcript with three, count them, three exclamation points at
- 5:51Speaker 2: the end.
- 5:52Speaker 1: Our world is so stupid. That is right off the
- 5:56Speaker 1: bat Trump as oh yeah, though absolutely this will thing
- 6:00Speaker 1: is yeah and second, not a transcript. No.
- 6:04Speaker 2: In the Fine prince a memo of the document itself,
- 6:08Speaker 2: it's made clear that it's quote not a verbatim transcript
- 6:11Speaker 2: of a discussion.
- 6:12Speaker 3: Yeah, so, uh, that's what a transcript is. Verbatim is
- 6:17Speaker 3: a redundant term.
- 6:18Speaker 2: Yeah. I don't know if I'm being too sensitive here,
- 6:20Speaker 2: but I feel like the title is a little misleading. Yes,
- 6:23Speaker 2: the transcript, especially with the three exclamation point.
- 6:26Speaker 3: That really sells me. Yeah, it's veracity, And unfortunately it
- 6:31Speaker 3: did sell a bunch of people on seriousness.
- 6:35Speaker 2: It did, which is insane because it actually kind of
- 6:38Speaker 2: made matters worse because it's just one of a number
- 6:42Speaker 2: of examples of either Trump or people in his administration.
- 6:46Speaker 2: We're going to play a really great video from Oh
- 6:49Speaker 2: my God.
- 6:50Speaker 1: That video is so He's the We'll get to just
- 6:54Speaker 1: like they've admitted this several times in public and in
- 6:57Speaker 1: this memo. Is one of the places where they admitted it.
- 7:01Speaker 1: But here's the part of the memo where things get conspiratorial.
- 7:04Speaker 1: This is a quote.
- 7:05Speaker 2: I would like you to find out what happened with
- 7:07Speaker 2: this whole situation with Ukraine. They say CrowdStrike. I guess
- 7:11Speaker 2: you have one of your wealthy people the server. They
- 7:14Speaker 2: say Ukraine has it. That sounds like Trump to me.
- 7:17Speaker 1: That is what he talks like. So who the fuck
- 7:22Speaker 1: is crowd Strike?
- 7:23Speaker 2: They are an American company hired by the DNCAH to
- 7:28Speaker 2: find and remove the hackers responsible for the twenty sixteen
- 7:32Speaker 2: breach of DNC.
- 7:34Speaker 1: Servers, the whole emails right.
- 7:36Speaker 2: They were the first to produce evidence that Russia was
- 7:39Speaker 2: responsible for the DNC hack, And like I said, he's
- 7:43Speaker 2: been bringing them up since twenty seventeen. Says they're owned
- 7:46Speaker 2: by a very rich Ukrainian.
- 7:47Speaker 1: They're not.
- 7:48Speaker 2: It's a US firm. He's based in California.
- 7:52Speaker 3: Well, whenever you can say that Trump said that he
- 7:54Speaker 3: heard something, you know that that is oh obvious lie.
- 7:58Speaker 3: That's his favorite lie cover up phrase. I heard this, yeah,
- 8:04Speaker 3: like a two year old.
- 8:05Speaker 2: One of my favorite details of that DNC hack is
- 8:08Speaker 2: how it happened. Like John Podesta just replied, to an
- 8:11Speaker 2: email that he shouldn't have because he's old and dumb
- 8:14Speaker 2: at computers.
- 8:15Speaker 1: Yeap, like everyone else in the government.
- 8:17Speaker 2: It's like, man, don't give Like the government should be
- 8:21Speaker 2: run on paper, Like there should be no computers in government.
- 8:25Speaker 2: None of our infrastructure should be run by computers. I
- 8:28Speaker 2: don't care if we have toddlers turning cranks. Yeah, just
- 8:31Speaker 2: a card catalog, yeah, any of that, Yeah, perfectly fine.
- 8:35Speaker 2: But uh, there is a theory among right wingers. They
- 8:41Speaker 2: argue that CrowdStrike finder Dmitri Alperovich was somehow compromised by
- 8:47Speaker 2: Ukrainian businessman Victor Pinchuk, who was a donor to the
- 8:51Speaker 2: Atlantic Council, which is a think tank that Alperovich was
- 8:55Speaker 2: part of in twenty sixteen. And sure, yeah, people get
- 8:59Speaker 2: comfort all the time. But also Victor Pinchick donated one
- 9:03Speaker 2: hundred and fifty thousand dollars to the Trump Foundation in
- 9:06Speaker 2: twenty fifteen, So the odds of him a scant few
- 9:10Speaker 2: months later, right, deciding to frame somehow frame Trump or
- 9:16Speaker 2: the who knows.
- 9:17Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 9:18Speaker 3: It makes me feel dumber, just like contemplating it.
- 9:22Speaker 2: Right, Yeah, that that's the thing. This is like people
- 9:26Speaker 2: listening to this podcast. You know me, I'm very open
- 9:30Speaker 2: to hearing your arguments for any conspiracy theory.
- 9:34Speaker 1: Yeah, like I'm I'm an O.
- 9:37Speaker 2: I'm very open to the possibility that conspiracy theories happened. Absolutely,
- 9:41Speaker 2: I believe I believe in several Yeah this is bullshit.
- 9:45Speaker 1: Yeah, this is easily proven false. It is funny.
- 9:49Speaker 3: Like I was just thinking, like, man, every time I
- 9:51Speaker 3: come on here, I feel like I have to talk
- 9:53Speaker 3: about some shit that is just so blatantly not even
- 9:58Speaker 3: plausible that I feel bad for like feeling like a
- 10:02Speaker 3: naysayer because I you know, I also, you know, I'm
- 10:05Speaker 3: not one to like trust the government. I'm not one
- 10:08Speaker 3: to you know, put my faith in a lot of
- 10:11Speaker 3: these institutions that are not have not earned trust. But like, also,
- 10:16Speaker 3: you know who else hasn't earned my trust? Donald Trump?
- 10:19Speaker 3: He is the least trustworthy person in the country.
- 10:23Speaker 1: Yeah. And I'm by no means a Joe Biden guy.
- 10:26Speaker 1: Oh absolutely not. I don't want Joe Biden to be
- 10:29Speaker 1: our next president.
- 10:30Speaker 3: The fact that he is continually a front runner makes
- 10:34Speaker 3: me so deeply, deeply sad, right, just on a pure
- 10:39Speaker 3: like existential level.
- 10:41Speaker 2: So we have that on the record. Yes, we are
- 10:43Speaker 2: not Joe Biden's supporters.
- 10:45Speaker 1: Absolutely not.
- 10:46Speaker 2: That said, the allegations made against Joe Biden and Hunter
- 10:51Speaker 2: Biden and against CrowdStrike are all things that countless people
- 10:58Speaker 2: time and time again have refere feuded in so many
- 11:01Speaker 2: different ways. And when it comes to crowd strike, the
- 11:05Speaker 2: idea that they somehow collaborated with Ukraine to pull off
- 11:11Speaker 2: this Russian this hacking of the DNC servers, there's so
- 11:16Speaker 2: much more evidence that doesn't involve crowd strike right at
- 11:20Speaker 2: all that implicates Russia.
- 11:22Speaker 1: So it's it's.
- 11:23Speaker 3: It's just the thread that people with an agenda come
- 11:27Speaker 3: in and pick as right and can find just enough
- 11:30Speaker 3: of a gap in that they can squeeze their nefarious
- 11:35Speaker 3: agenda in there, like you know, like can squeeze their
- 11:38Speaker 3: own ideas of like this is what really went.
- 11:41Speaker 2: Down, and just some of the details of this that
- 11:46Speaker 2: have been disproven. What about that missing server, Yeah, there
- 11:52Speaker 2: is no missing server. The country of Ukraine did not
- 11:55Speaker 2: take one server and hide it deep within the bowels
- 12:00Speaker 2: of their infrastructure. That's not how computers work. The DNC
- 12:04Speaker 2: had something like one hundred servers, right, and the FBI
- 12:08Speaker 2: has a digital image of those servers, which is all
- 12:12Speaker 2: you need.
- 12:12Speaker 1: Yeah, Like it it's.
- 12:15Speaker 3: Not like the physical server is hiding any anything. It's
- 12:18Speaker 3: already information that's on it that you need, right.
- 12:21Speaker 2: It's it's like implying that hacking into someone's like Google
- 12:27Speaker 2: Drive account wouldn't be enough. You'd have to you'd have
- 12:30Speaker 2: to have the building right where that server is.
- 12:33Speaker 1: How is to really get to the root.
- 12:35Speaker 2: It's like, no, this is the cloud, baby, Like it's
- 12:38Speaker 2: all like the FBI has seen what's on these servers. Yeah,
- 12:42Speaker 2: and there is no evidence that Ukraine had anything to
- 12:46Speaker 2: do with hacking the DNC.
- 12:48Speaker 3: And like whether or not you trust the FBI is
- 12:50Speaker 3: a separate issue. I mean, like I get it, but
- 12:53Speaker 3: like you know, when there's enough overwhelming evidence at a
- 12:58Speaker 3: certain point, you kind of have.
- 12:59Speaker 4: To And.
- 13:01Speaker 2: Even on that count, the thing about trusting the FBI,
- 13:05Speaker 2: Like do I trust the FBI in this case where
- 13:11Speaker 2: they're saying we've seen Hillary Clinton servers in the DNC
- 13:14Speaker 2: servers and there's nothing that shady on them. I do
- 13:17Speaker 2: kind of trust that because this is the same FBI
- 13:20Speaker 2: that two fucking days before the election was like we're
- 13:24Speaker 2: investigating Hillary Clinton again because of those emails. So like
- 13:28Speaker 2: they've looked into it. Yeah, and it probably cost her
- 13:31Speaker 2: the election.
- 13:32Speaker 1: Yes, this is one of the main, one of the
- 13:34Speaker 1: big things. But so yeah, in that case, I guess
- 13:37Speaker 1: I in general, no, I don't trust most authority, and
- 13:41Speaker 1: I don't trust my fucking landlord. I mean you should
- 13:44Speaker 1: never trust your landlord.
- 13:45Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 13:45Speaker 1: Uh so, yeah, I mean I don't. In this case,
- 13:49Speaker 1: I guess I'm willing to give them the benefit of
- 13:51Speaker 1: the doubt. It seems like there's enough evidence here, right.
- 13:54Speaker 2: The other thing that people bring up as being potentially
- 13:57Speaker 2: shady about this is why was some company doing the investigation?
- 14:02Speaker 3: I mean, this is just people who are ignorant, just
- 14:05Speaker 3: don't know how these things work, just pretending to be experts,
- 14:09Speaker 3: right when there's a situation like this, what CrowdStrike is.
- 14:13Speaker 3: CrowdStrike is what they call an incident response group, meaning
- 14:18Speaker 3: you run a system of computers with very important information
- 14:22Speaker 3: on them.
- 14:23Speaker 1: Someone's hacked into your shit. They are like the ghostbusters
- 14:26Speaker 1: of it.
- 14:27Speaker 3: There's there, there's security personnel there. They're people who investigate
- 14:32Speaker 3: these things for companies, right, and it's easier for the
- 14:36Speaker 3: FBI to contract with them instead of doing that investigation themselves.
- 14:41Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 14:41Speaker 2: The thing is the FBI can do an investigation like that.
- 14:45Speaker 2: But why would they when any other almost any I
- 14:50Speaker 2: T firm is capable of conducting an investigation like this
- 14:53Speaker 2: and then the FBI takes it from there.
- 14:55Speaker 1: The I T Department can't enforce.
- 14:57Speaker 3: Them, right, they're not busting down warrants, the not collecting
- 15:00Speaker 3: the servers, you know, they're just they are just doing
- 15:05Speaker 3: number crunching and basically like combing through and like taking
- 15:09Speaker 3: out the debt and copying and it's not it's all
- 15:13Speaker 3: very technical, you know, I don't even I'm no computer expert,
- 15:17Speaker 3: but like I know that. That's how you know. You
- 15:20Speaker 3: you hire companies who their job is to do that
- 15:22Speaker 3: stuff instead of the FBI dedicating time and man hours.
- 15:27Speaker 1: Yeah, if you can learn to do it at DeVry,
- 15:30Speaker 1: the FBI doesn't need to be involved, like they can
- 15:33Speaker 1: skip that step and then you just pass along whatever
- 15:36Speaker 1: information you find.
- 15:36Speaker 2: And that's what happened here. CrowdStrike did the initial investigation
- 15:41Speaker 2: and then pass that.
- 15:42Speaker 1: Shit off to the FBI.
- 15:43Speaker 5: Uh.
- 15:44Speaker 2: Why does it matter for impeachment though? Why do all
- 15:48Speaker 2: these liberal cuts Olivia?
- 15:50Speaker 1: I know, I am a liberal cook.
- 15:52Speaker 2: Why do they think Trump withheld aid to Ukraine until
- 15:56Speaker 2: they agreed to investigate this because that that is the
- 16:00Speaker 2: allegation here.
- 16:01Speaker 3: That's called a quid pro quo. Not cool, no bad, illegal,
- 16:05Speaker 3: highly illegal.
- 16:06Speaker 2: And here's the thing, why do the Libs believe this
- 16:11Speaker 2: is what Trump did. It's for no other reason than
- 16:15Speaker 2: because the acting White House Chief of Staff said exactly
- 16:18Speaker 2: those words in front of a television audience. And we're
- 16:23Speaker 2: gonna listen to that right now.
- 16:25Speaker 3: Mick mulvaney is one of the dumbest characters in this
- 16:30Speaker 3: entire parade.
- 16:32Speaker 2: I'll link to this video on the website. It is shocking.
- 16:36Speaker 2: It's stupidity is shocking. The physical performance is really important.
- 16:41Speaker 1: He has really caught off guard when they suggest that
- 16:43Speaker 1: what he's saying is illegal, He or in any way
- 16:47Speaker 1: a problem.
- 16:48Speaker 3: He looks like he was cursed to always tell the
- 16:52Speaker 3: truth liar liar style and has just figured it out.
- 16:57Speaker 1: And this is the first day every time that he's
- 17:00Speaker 1: on TV. Right, let's listen to this is Mick mulvaney.
- 17:04Speaker 6: Mention to me in the past the corruption related to
- 17:07Speaker 6: the DNC server, Absolutely no question about that. But that's it,
- 17:11Speaker 6: and that's why we held up the money. Now, there
- 17:13Speaker 6: was a report string out man.
- 17:14Speaker 4: For an investigation into the Democrats was part of the
- 17:18Speaker 4: reason that he it was on to withhold funding to.
- 17:21Speaker 6: The look back to what happened in twenty sixteen certainly
- 17:25Speaker 6: was part of the thing that he was worried about
- 17:27Speaker 6: in corruption with that nation. Then that is absolutely approble
- 17:30Speaker 6: in the funding.
- 17:31Speaker 4: Yeah, clear, just described as a quick pro quoe. Funding
- 17:35Speaker 4: will not flow unless the investigation.
- 17:37Speaker 1: He looks sad funded like I've happened as well, we do.
- 17:42Speaker 1: We do that all the time.
- 17:45Speaker 6: Yeah, he says, really upset with the political influence in
- 17:50Speaker 6: foreign policy.
- 17:52Speaker 2: So he has sense backtracked on those words. Oh really, Yeah,
- 17:56Speaker 2: he's like, you got to try and take it back.
- 17:58Speaker 1: Too bad. You were on television, Like he is one
- 18:01Speaker 1: hundred percent admitting, yeah, that the president did what he's
- 18:05Speaker 1: accused him. We do it all the time, all the times.
- 18:09Speaker 1: That's what we do. We're a mob presidency.
- 18:13Speaker 2: Which that part is so insane, like that should be
- 18:17Speaker 2: like he should have just been impeached right then and
- 18:19Speaker 2: there exactly, Like there should be some alternate route where
- 18:22Speaker 2: evidence is that clear. Yeah, all right, let's say, well,
- 18:26Speaker 2: you're you get a golden ticket to Hollywood. You're moving
- 18:29Speaker 2: on without having to compete in the rest of the competition.
- 18:32Speaker 1: We will see you in the finals. President Trump, he would.
- 18:35Speaker 3: Still have a perfectly fine career if he didn't go
- 18:37Speaker 3: to prison. Oh yeah, I die that he would go
- 18:40Speaker 3: to prison.
- 18:41Speaker 1: Yeah, probably not. I I kind of hope that there's somewhere.
- 18:45Speaker 1: It's somewhere. Ben suggested that he won't go to prison
- 18:48Speaker 1: after he leaves office, because otherwise he's never going to
- 18:51Speaker 1: leave office. Right, he will die in office, and then
- 18:55Speaker 1: his kids will take up the mantle.
- 18:58Speaker 3: We'll be dealing with God Emperor Baron Trump in a giant,
- 19:01Speaker 3: fucking kid worm suit.
- 19:05Speaker 1: Weirdly, this was all really good for crowdstrikes stock crisis.
- 19:10Speaker 1: Oh I love capitalism. Oh yeah.
- 19:12Speaker 2: When Adam Schiff kicked off the impeachment hearings by referring
- 19:17Speaker 2: to quote the discredited twenty sixteen crowd strike conspiracy theory,
- 19:23Speaker 2: stock shot up eleven percent.
- 19:24Speaker 1: Great, which I guess stands to reason.
- 19:27Speaker 2: I mean, sure, if there were people out there on
- 19:29Speaker 2: the fence about whether CrowdStrike was involved in all this.
- 19:33Speaker 1: Yeah, but yeah, I don't know that that good for them,
- 19:38Speaker 1: I guess, yeah, I mean fuck them. Yeah, I was
- 19:42Speaker 1: really I was really worried that they were gonna go
- 19:44Speaker 1: under and you know I've been so right.
- 19:47Speaker 2: So many jobs would strike brand that shadowy group of
- 19:51Speaker 2: twelve fucking hackers in.
- 19:53Speaker 1: A room in California somewhere.
- 19:55Speaker 3: I mean, like CrowdStrike is in the objectively sinister Yeah.
- 20:00Speaker 2: If you don't want to wind up in conspiracy theory,
- 20:04Speaker 2: maybe changed that name, yeah a little bit.
- 20:07Speaker 1: How about crowd help yeah, or I.
- 20:10Speaker 3: Don't know, Internet security technologies associates like just go fucking Bland,
- 20:19Speaker 3: fucking Tony's computers.
- 20:22Speaker 1: Anything but crowds CrowdStrike. It's the crowd strike. Like I
- 20:28Speaker 1: certainly want this to be some evil organization. I don't
- 20:30Speaker 1: want like that.
- 20:31Speaker 3: I don't want a crowd that I am in to
- 20:33Speaker 3: be struck true, But like like Blackwater.
- 20:37Speaker 1: Yeah, they had a scary name, a scary, scary, very
- 20:41Speaker 1: scary company. But CrowdStrike has the really scary name. And
- 20:45Speaker 1: then just some I T pros. I mean, I mean
- 20:48Speaker 1: they were hired by the d n C. Yeah, I
- 20:50Speaker 1: mean I don't know, so they must do something right
- 20:53Speaker 1: or wrong, bunch of black hats.
- 20:55Speaker 2: Probably Chris Smsworth is in there. So where did this
- 21:01Speaker 2: theory originate? I put that in here because the really
- 21:04Speaker 2: popular claim is that it started with Russia, but that's
- 21:09Speaker 2: not actually true. It's a little more complicated than that.
- 21:13Speaker 2: As pointed out by the Atlantic, the theory that Ukraine
- 21:16Speaker 2: interfered on behalf of Hillary Clinton started in twenty sixteen
- 21:20Speaker 2: in Ukraine with a newspaper article that was published in
- 21:24Speaker 2: that country. And the reason it starts there I think
- 21:28Speaker 2: we cover this a little more later in the episode.
- 21:31Speaker 2: But that article mentioned this black ledger that had all
- 21:37Speaker 2: of these payments to Paul Manifort, right, twelve point seven
- 21:40Speaker 2: million dollars. And when Trump and his clan say that
- 21:47Speaker 2: Ukraine interfered in our election to try and get Hillary
- 21:50Speaker 2: Clinton elected, that's all they mean. Yeah, all they're saying is, well,
- 21:54Speaker 2: they leaked damaging information about Paul Manifort and it might
- 21:58Speaker 2: have made Trump look bad, and they're interfering in our election.
- 22:03Speaker 5: Like what I love?
- 22:05Speaker 1: That is not the same thing.
- 22:07Speaker 3: I love the idea though, what a what a lovely
- 22:10Speaker 3: fanta sea Land that after everything that Trump has said
- 22:16Speaker 3: and done in public on camera, that the thing that
- 22:21Speaker 3: might make him look bad that he's worried about is
- 22:25Speaker 3: something from like one of his campaign managers, right, Like
- 22:29Speaker 3: who gives a ship buddy you don't care if that
- 22:32Speaker 3: could have come out and it.
- 22:33Speaker 1: Would have done nothing to his campaign.
- 22:35Speaker 2: At a spy like our top fucking military guy for
- 22:39Speaker 2: a while, dude, Like this is kind of minor. Yeah,
- 22:43Speaker 2: it's very I mean, like Paul Manifort went to jail, right.
- 22:46Speaker 3: But I mean no, he's a bad person, like Paul
- 22:49Speaker 3: Manford is a bad guy.
- 22:50Speaker 1: I just don't think that I have It's just so
- 22:53Speaker 1: wild to me.
- 22:53Speaker 3: To think that that ledger coming out could have negatively
- 22:57Speaker 3: affected Trump's campaign at all, because no fucking way, that's
- 23:01Speaker 3: the like, because I feel like that's a thing that
- 23:04Speaker 3: in his over you know, over the time of history,
- 23:08Speaker 3: will get lost about twenty sixteen is how it just
- 23:13Speaker 3: kept escalating and how nothing could stick to him. Ever,
- 23:18Speaker 3: it's one of the most bizarre a sents that you've
- 23:23Speaker 3: ever seen in politics. Like literally scandals that would have
- 23:28Speaker 3: ruined every.
- 23:30Speaker 1: Single other person, just people running for president, like yeah,
- 23:33Speaker 1: just people studio executive. Yeah, scandals came out.
- 23:37Speaker 3: Things that would ruin every single other candidate who has
- 23:40Speaker 3: ever run for president.
- 23:42Speaker 1: Like if Billy Bush was the one saying grab him
- 23:44Speaker 1: by the pussy.
- 23:45Speaker 7: Yeah, oh my god, it would have been It would
- 23:47Speaker 7: have been to be homeless, right, it would have ended. Yeah, well,
- 23:49Speaker 7: and like and if you know, if he had said,
- 23:53Speaker 7: if Billy Bush had said that on a tape with
- 23:56Speaker 7: like Barack Obama nearby, it would have ruined Kupama's political career,
- 24:01Speaker 7: even if he didn't say it, like you know what
- 24:03Speaker 7: I mean, Like that's how nothing much nothing was sticking.
- 24:08Speaker 7: And just the idea that this thing, this Paul Mannaford
- 24:11Speaker 7: think that though that was.
- 24:13Speaker 1: That that was Ukraine being bad.
- 24:16Speaker 3: That that could have changed everything is so funny to me.
- 24:19Speaker 2: Right, And so that's kind of like there's all these
- 24:23Speaker 2: Russian disinformation groups out there. One of the big ones
- 24:27Speaker 2: is called the Internet Research Agency, and a few months
- 24:31Speaker 2: after that article came out, they kind of latched onto
- 24:33Speaker 2: the theory and started spreading it. And that's where the
- 24:36Speaker 2: idea that it's a Russian born conspiracy comes from. But again,
- 24:40Speaker 2: as this Atlantic article that I'll link to points out,
- 24:43Speaker 2: the people really responsible for spreading this conspiracy.
- 24:46Speaker 1: Theory is the American right.
- 24:48Speaker 2: Yeah, Like they're the ones who are crediting this the
- 24:52Speaker 2: most because it at least attempts to and because.
- 24:55Speaker 3: Their brains are broken and these sorts of things just
- 24:58Speaker 3: appeal to them, Like, they'll believe any sort of conspiracy
- 25:01Speaker 3: theory as long as it fits within their Like, it
- 25:04Speaker 3: doesn't even have to fit within their worldview. It just
- 25:06Speaker 3: has to rhyme with it enough that they can latch
- 25:10Speaker 3: onto it.
- 25:10Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 25:11Speaker 2: And the Atlantic says it's the American far right, but
- 25:15Speaker 2: I would just argue just the.
- 25:16Speaker 1: Right like Republicans.
- 25:17Speaker 3: No, yes, mainstream Republicanism is extremely far right.
- 25:20Speaker 2: Like that has it's been brought up by like in
- 25:24Speaker 2: the impeachment hearings. Yeah, still several times, even though it's
- 25:28Speaker 2: been discredited.
- 25:29Speaker 1: Yeah, over and over.
- 25:30Speaker 2: Uh.
- 25:31Speaker 1: So that's that's crowd strike. Yeah.
- 25:34Speaker 2: The other conspiracy theory, and I put conspiracy in quotes
- 25:38Speaker 2: here because it's never really referred to as a conspiracy theory.
- 25:42Speaker 2: But this is there more important of the two.
- 25:45Speaker 3: This is the one that led to the quid pro
- 25:47Speaker 3: quo right phone call.
- 25:49Speaker 2: And it involves a company called Barisma Holdings. And even
- 25:54Speaker 2: if there's no wrongdoing on the part of the Biden's right,
- 25:59Speaker 2: it is weird that Hunter Biden was on the board
- 26:03Speaker 2: of this company, the largest oil and gas extracting company
- 26:07Speaker 2: in Ukraine.
- 26:08Speaker 5: Uh.
- 26:08Speaker 2: In twenty fourteen, Hunter Biden joins their board right, a
- 26:12Speaker 2: couple months after getting kicked out of the Navy for
- 26:14Speaker 2: doing coked Yeah, which that's fine.
- 26:17Speaker 1: I mean sure, you know.
- 26:19Speaker 3: The thing about this whole thing is, yeah, it's weird
- 26:22Speaker 3: that he's on there, but it does seem like a
- 26:25Speaker 3: pretty standard case of Washington nepotism, right, Like the vice
- 26:29Speaker 3: president's kid is never going to struggle to find some
- 26:32Speaker 3: cushy job, right.
- 26:33Speaker 2: And the reason it it's kind of conflict of interest,
- 26:36Speaker 2: y is Joe Biden was the Obama administration's like point
- 26:41Speaker 2: person when it came to Ukraine. Right, So the fact
- 26:43Speaker 2: that Hunter Biden got this job in Ukraine after being
- 26:46Speaker 2: kicked out of the Navy, it does seem like there
- 26:48Speaker 2: could be like he might have pulled some strings to
- 26:51Speaker 2: get him absolute job. It's not great, and it could
- 26:54Speaker 2: have just as easily been this company in Ukraine, which,
- 26:58Speaker 2: as we'll talk about, was under investigation a whole bunch.
- 27:01Speaker 2: It could have been them who was like, well maybe
- 27:03Speaker 2: if we hire Hunter Biden, that's going to like keep
- 27:07Speaker 2: the heat off us as it pertains to the Obama administration.
- 27:11Speaker 2: But either way, he gets this job at Bisma in
- 27:15Speaker 2: twenty fourteen, and that's kind of the that's the starting point.
- 27:20Speaker 2: I guess he gets this job. The founder of Beisma
- 27:23Speaker 2: is a man named Mikola Zlotyszewsky, and he has been
- 27:28Speaker 2: investigated multiple times over allegations, specifically allegations that he procured
- 27:36Speaker 2: the money to start Beisma Holdings through crime, which, if
- 27:41Speaker 2: that's true, do the responsible thing and record a rap
- 27:44Speaker 2: album as long as you document it in an entertaining way,
- 27:49Speaker 2: We're always very accepting of that.
- 27:52Speaker 3: I'm surprised more of these shifty big business capitalists don't
- 27:58Speaker 3: do that sort of thing.
- 27:59Speaker 1: Yeah, it'd be purpose out.
- 28:02Speaker 3: Just do a fucking wrap in the reps, talk about
- 28:05Speaker 3: how much you're.
- 28:06Speaker 1: Career, talk about how you sold drugs to start your company.
- 28:08Speaker 3: Exactly, and that would be a hit album. If the
- 28:12Speaker 3: beat is sick, I might like it.
- 28:13Speaker 1: The beat's gotta be sick. It's got to be that
- 28:16Speaker 1: corporate money, I mean exactly. They'll be able to pay
- 28:18Speaker 1: the best producers, right, get DJ Kuala in there.
- 28:23Speaker 2: So the thing is, no investigation has ever turned up
- 28:27Speaker 2: any crimes, and that includes a massive UK investigation in
- 28:31Speaker 2: twenty fourteen that concluded none of the evidence and this
- 28:35Speaker 2: is a quote establishes reasonable grounds for a belief that
- 28:39Speaker 2: his assets were unlawfully acquired as a result of misconduct
- 28:45Speaker 2: in public office. Again, this all happens right around the
- 28:48Speaker 2: time Hunter Biden joins the board, and in two August
- 28:53Speaker 2: twenty fourteen, Ukraine opens their own investigation into Slovechesky. I
- 28:59Speaker 2: want to know what this guys, Like, Yeah, he's gotta
- 29:02Speaker 2: be a real fucking carrotter, Like.
- 29:04Speaker 3: Just I'm just picturing like just a real like creep
- 29:08Speaker 3: you just cannot trust, right, Like he might not be
- 29:12Speaker 3: a bad person, but like there's just something about him
- 29:15Speaker 3: where you're just like.
- 29:16Speaker 1: I don't know, I don't know. How do you get
- 29:19Speaker 1: that money? No one knows. You got to investigate. Yeah,
- 29:22Speaker 1: but Ukraine investigates. Yeah, they don't find anything.
- 29:25Speaker 2: Yeah, And this is like still twenty fourteen basically, right,
- 29:30Speaker 2: So all of the by all accounts, and we'll get
- 29:33Speaker 2: dig into it a little more later, all of the
- 29:35Speaker 2: investigations into Barisma. By twenty sixteen, we're pretty much dead.
- 29:40Speaker 2: And that's very important, yeah, or it will become important later.
- 29:43Speaker 2: But in later in twenty fourteen, going back to then,
- 29:47Speaker 2: Ukraine passes a law establishing the National Anti Corruption Bureau,
- 29:51Speaker 2: and both the United States and Europe require the Ukrainian
- 29:55Speaker 2: government to fund it in exchange for aid, which if
- 29:59Speaker 2: you're are sitting at home thinking, well, that sounds like
- 30:02Speaker 2: a quid pro quo.
- 30:03Speaker 1: Also, it's not. No, it's us saying you need to.
- 30:07Speaker 2: Crack down on corruption in a country or we're not
- 30:10Speaker 2: going to give you aid. Like, right, that's a standard thing,
- 30:12Speaker 2: and so it's very.
- 30:15Speaker 3: Not specific, right, Like, that's like I think one of
- 30:19Speaker 3: the key differences.
- 30:20Speaker 1: Right, you're not it's not about one specific thing.
- 30:23Speaker 3: It's just like you've got a lot of corruption going on,
- 30:26Speaker 3: you should crack down on it, and we'll keep giving
- 30:29Speaker 3: your aid, but you have to pay for it.
- 30:30Speaker 1: Yeah, it's it's almost like a pre sanctions. It's kind
- 30:34Speaker 1: of diplomacy.
- 30:36Speaker 2: When we slap sanctions on countries. A lot of times
- 30:39Speaker 2: it's because they're human rights abusers and we withhold funds
- 30:43Speaker 2: and money from them, like North Korea. Right, we don't
- 30:46Speaker 2: give them aid because they're bad people. And if they
- 30:50Speaker 2: started being good, which I'm saying no, not not the
- 30:53Speaker 2: pop Yeah, the people are fine. The government is kind
- 30:56Speaker 2: of a nightmare, Uh, just kind of yeah, And if
- 31:00Speaker 2: that government somehow became better.
- 31:02Speaker 1: We probably give him more aid.
- 31:04Speaker 3: Money, you would hope if we had a reasonable government.
- 31:07Speaker 2: Right that that's not a crime, right, no, asking its diplomacy,
- 31:13Speaker 2: it's avoiding war basically. And the thing is that part
- 31:18Speaker 2: is really important because this is still twenty fourteen and
- 31:23Speaker 2: Biden is still VP in the United States, is pressuring
- 31:27Speaker 2: Ukraine to crack down on corruption.
- 31:30Speaker 3: Right, which would include his son the business that his
- 31:33Speaker 3: sudden right is involved with.
- 31:35Speaker 2: Because the implication from the Trump administration is that Biden
- 31:40Speaker 2: was pressuring the government to fire this one particular prosecutor
- 31:46Speaker 2: to protect his son, when the truth is actually, and
- 31:50Speaker 2: this is a lot of people have attested to this,
- 31:53Speaker 2: the United States wanted this particular prosecutor out of office
- 31:58Speaker 2: because he wasn't doing enough about corruption. And one of
- 32:02Speaker 2: the factors leading to that was that their investigation into
- 32:06Speaker 2: Barisma failed, like after so many times they thought this
- 32:09Speaker 2: was going to be the guy who might uncover some
- 32:12Speaker 2: dirt on people, and he gets in office and he's
- 32:15Speaker 2: just not doing anything. So not just the United States,
- 32:18Speaker 2: several countries in Europe also were like, you got to
- 32:20Speaker 2: get rid of that guy. Yeah, if we're going to
- 32:22Speaker 2: keep giving you AID money. But when this all really
- 32:26Speaker 2: kicks off, there's two things that happened. Biden in twenty
- 32:29Speaker 2: sixteen has two meetings with a one of the newly
- 32:33Speaker 2: elected presidents of Ukraine, and it's during that meeting where
- 32:39Speaker 2: it suggested that we're going to withhold AID if you
- 32:41Speaker 2: don't start cracking down on corruption, and in particular, you
- 32:45Speaker 2: need to fire Victor Shoken, who is your top prosecutor.
- 32:49Speaker 2: And that's the sticking point for the Trump administration. Their
- 32:53Speaker 2: argument is he wanted Victor Choken fired because Victor Schoken
- 32:58Speaker 2: was the guy who would eventually investigate Barisma, right, and
- 33:02Speaker 2: that would bring up dirt on Hunter Biden. But the
- 33:05Speaker 2: problem with that argument is that, well, I should add
- 33:11Speaker 2: that one thing is maybe the most important detail in
- 33:14Speaker 2: the Trump impeachment. Yeah, because what Trump wanted, specifically, when
- 33:19Speaker 2: people say quid pro quo, he wanted in return for
- 33:22Speaker 2: this AID money being released, he wanted the government of
- 33:26Speaker 2: Ukraine to at least announce that they were investigating Joe
- 33:31Speaker 2: Biden and Hunter Biden for wrongly influencing the government of
- 33:36Speaker 2: Ukraine to fire a prosecutor to keep Hunter Biden out
- 33:39Speaker 2: of jail.
- 33:40Speaker 3: And he did that almost immediately after a poll that
- 33:44Speaker 3: showed that Biden had the best chance of beating him
- 33:47Speaker 3: in an election.
- 33:48Speaker 2: Right, that's the big problem. This poll comes out in
- 33:52Speaker 2: twenty eighteen.
- 33:53Speaker 1: That's illegal.
- 33:54Speaker 2: And by this point, Joe Biden had gone in front
- 33:59Speaker 2: of I think the Council on Foreign Relations in twenty
- 34:04Speaker 2: eighteen also and was like, yeah, we put all of that,
- 34:07Speaker 2: Like he literally says, we withheld a billion dollars in
- 34:10Speaker 2: aid until they fired this guy. And sounds crazy, but
- 34:15Speaker 2: it was us basically requiring that they do more right,
- 34:18Speaker 2: to crack down on corruption. But Trump wanted it investigated
- 34:24Speaker 2: the other way and wanted the President of Ukraine to
- 34:27Speaker 2: announce this investigation was happening because this poll had just
- 34:30Speaker 2: come out that said Biden had the best chance of
- 34:33Speaker 2: beating Trump right in twenty twenty And like you said.
- 34:36Speaker 3: Highly illegal, that's extremely illegal.
- 34:39Speaker 1: You can't do that. Can't lean on a foreign government.
- 34:43Speaker 3: The leader of a foreign country to spy on our people,
- 34:48Speaker 3: like he wanted them to spy on Hunter and Joe
- 34:51Speaker 3: Biden basically and dig up whatever dirt they could on
- 34:54Speaker 3: Hunter and Joe Biden. He was asking them, you had
- 34:56Speaker 3: to do dirty work and like to start up an
- 34:59Speaker 3: investigat just to kickup shit.
- 35:01Speaker 2: Right, and their argument, like the Trump administration's counter argument,
- 35:07Speaker 2: that Biden was actually pressuring the government for his own ends.
- 35:12Speaker 2: Here's a few different quotes. There was no pressure from
- 35:14Speaker 2: anyone from the US to close cases against Barisma. It
- 35:18Speaker 2: was shelved by Ukrainian prosecutors in twenty fourteen and through
- 35:21Speaker 2: twenty fifteen. That is Vitally Casco, former Deputy Prosecutor General
- 35:27Speaker 2: who worked under Shokun and resigned because he regularly stymied
- 35:32Speaker 2: corruption investigations. So there's that. There's also this quote, which
- 35:38Speaker 2: is from Daria Khleniak, who is a Ukrainian anti corruption
- 35:42Speaker 2: activist or advocate. Chokin was not investigating, he didn't want
- 35:46Speaker 2: to investigate Barisma, and Chokin was fired not because he
- 35:50Speaker 2: wanted to do that investigation, but quite to the contrary,
- 35:54Speaker 2: because he failed that investigation. And if anyone out there
- 35:58Speaker 2: feels like, well, let's just here's that's what those people say.
- 36:02Speaker 2: Also consider that when the UK was investigating Barisma, Victor
- 36:06Speaker 2: Chokin sent Barisma's lawyers a letter attesting to the fact
- 36:11Speaker 2: that they were not under investigation and there was no
- 36:14Speaker 2: case pending against them.
- 36:15Speaker 3: Yeah, so basically, Joe Biden, if anything, was like put
- 36:20Speaker 3: pressure on Ukraine to remove the guy who was helping
- 36:24Speaker 3: to cover up his right any kind of putting his
- 36:29Speaker 3: son at Jeffes Yeah, exactly when it might be the
- 36:33Speaker 3: best political move that Joe Biden has ever made.
- 36:35Speaker 1: Yeah, tough love, baby, I mean.
- 36:40Speaker 2: To his name, just got kicked out of the Navy
- 36:42Speaker 2: for being a cocaine Now you want to go work
- 36:44Speaker 2: in Ukraine. He seems like a problem Hunter Biden, Yes, yeah, probably,
- 36:48Speaker 2: I don't know much about him.
- 36:49Speaker 3: He either get kicked out of the Navy for cocaine
- 36:52Speaker 3: and then is working for this company that keeps getting
- 36:54Speaker 3: get investigated or corruption.
- 36:56Speaker 1: That's true.
- 36:57Speaker 2: Uh so, yeah, that's I mean, there's not a lot
- 37:00Speaker 2: to the allegations against Joe and Hunter Biden, So this
- 37:05Speaker 2: is gonna be a shorter episode. Everything about the impeachment, though,
- 37:09Speaker 2: stems from these two conspiracy theories, Yeah, and Trump demanding
- 37:14Speaker 2: that the president of Ukraine investigate them in return for
- 37:17Speaker 2: aid highly.
- 37:19Speaker 1: Illegal, extremely and so illegal.
- 37:22Speaker 2: Everything else that happens, and like at one point it
- 37:26Speaker 2: came out during the impeachment trial that Devin Nunez went
- 37:29Speaker 2: and met with this victor choken yiss, Yeah, to try
- 37:32Speaker 2: and like get more dirt on Hunter and Joe Biden.
- 37:36Speaker 2: He is Juliani met with him, that both.
- 37:38Speaker 3: Of them are so stupid, Right, Devin Nunez is such
- 37:43Speaker 3: a moron, just one of the dumbest people to ever
- 37:46Speaker 3: work in the government. Right, And Rue Giuliani, what does
- 37:50Speaker 3: he even do? All he does is go on TV
- 37:53Speaker 3: and admit to crimes. That seems to pretty much. Yeah,
- 37:56Speaker 3: he's a terrible lawyer. He's a terrible lawyer.
- 37:59Speaker 2: He's a terrible TV game, I mean his great TV
- 38:02Speaker 2: guess because you know he's gonna say something he shouldn't like,
- 38:06Speaker 2: but it might also damage national security when he says it.
- 38:11Speaker 3: Uh, he's like the uh gg Allen of modern day
- 38:16Speaker 3: politics is wiping shit on himself on.
- 38:20Speaker 1: It's gonna be entertaining, right, but is it? Is it
- 38:24Speaker 1: a little toxic? Yeah?
- 38:25Speaker 2: You're gonna feel good about being entertained by that bad guy?
- 38:28Speaker 2: Probably not so. Yeah, that's that's the thing. There's not
- 38:32Speaker 2: much too like if we were to from here go
- 38:36Speaker 2: into all of the allegations made against Trump, yeah, and
- 38:41Speaker 2: Trump's administration in relation to this scandal, it would be
- 38:46Speaker 2: several more episodes, right, because they have done a whole
- 38:50Speaker 2: lot of wrong. As it pertains to Ukraine. We didn't
- 38:54Speaker 2: even get into how they let this Ukrainian dude just
- 38:58Speaker 2: kind of pressure us into fireing our ambassador to Ukraine.
- 39:03Speaker 1: Like that's a whole other thing.
- 39:05Speaker 3: But it really is just Trump is the kind of
- 39:08Speaker 3: guy who his gut reaction to any obstacle that he
- 39:14Speaker 3: faces is to do a crime. Like he doesn't even
- 39:18Speaker 3: he doesn't even think about what crime is he's gonna do.
- 39:21Speaker 1: That's just how his brain works.
- 39:23Speaker 3: He just turn flips immediately to all right, I gotta
- 39:25Speaker 3: do something illegal to fix this bullshit, right, and then
- 39:28Speaker 3: that's and then that's what he does.
- 39:31Speaker 2: And it it's it's obvious that the idea that he's
- 39:35Speaker 2: gonna surround himself with the smartest people, like you can tell.
- 39:39Speaker 1: From that Acting Chief of Staff.
- 39:41Speaker 2: Video where the guy's like, no, everything's fine, Yeah, well
- 39:45Speaker 2: we do.
- 39:46Speaker 1: That shit all the time. What are you talking about?
- 39:47Speaker 1: That's just how diplomacy works. And the fucking reporters are like, no,
- 39:51Speaker 1: it's not. Do you realize what you're saying?
- 39:54Speaker 2: You were admitting to several crimes And they're like, huh,
- 39:59Speaker 2: Mick more vany what a fucking loser?
- 40:02Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 40:04Speaker 5: Is he though?
- 40:05Speaker 1: Or are we the losers. Everyone's the loser. Yeah, everyone's
- 40:08Speaker 1: a loser.
- 40:09Speaker 3: Every That is the theme of the last several years.
- 40:13Speaker 2: Yeah, it kind of feels that way. So now you
- 40:16Speaker 2: understand why Trump's being in peace.
- 40:18Speaker 3: Yeah, that's actually a very concise summation.
- 40:22Speaker 2: He asked Ukraine to investigate bogus allegations against the Bidens.
- 40:27Speaker 1: Yeah, in return for aid money. And that's very much illegal. Yeah,
- 40:31Speaker 1: don't do it. If you're ever president, don't And someone
- 40:34Speaker 1: listening to this will be maybe one day. Yeah, And
- 40:37Speaker 1: if you are, don't do that.
- 40:38Speaker 2: Don't do this, don't do any of the things outline.
- 40:42Speaker 2: And unless your son is on the board of some
- 40:44Speaker 2: shady company in Ukraine and you want to put pressure
- 40:48Speaker 2: on the government to investigate, yeah, your little head.
- 40:51Speaker 3: Seems amazing that Joe Biden comes out looking the best
- 40:54Speaker 3: out of everybody in this whole thing. Yeah, because he is. Again,
- 40:59Speaker 3: I am not a Joe Biden fan.
- 41:01Speaker 1: I don't want Joe Biden to be our present. I
- 41:03Speaker 1: really don't. I really really don't. Uh.
- 41:06Speaker 3: And so yeah, uh, that's not what this is. It
- 41:09Speaker 3: is just like he just happened to be doing the
- 41:12Speaker 3: right thing at this in all of this, Like, yeah,
- 41:15Speaker 3: he just was doing normal VP shit.
- 41:18Speaker 2: Yeah, he was doing what pretty much everyone on the
- 41:20Speaker 2: world stage was calling for it to be done at
- 41:23Speaker 2: the time, which was for Ukraine to fire this prosecutor
- 41:26Speaker 2: and actually start being a less corrupt nation.
- 41:29Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 41:30Speaker 1: And I'm sure that's happened.
- 41:31Speaker 3: I I you know, I can't imagine it all on
- 41:34Speaker 3: the up and up. Now everything's everything's gonna be great now. Yeah,
- 41:37Speaker 3: now that Jump's been impeached. Yeah, we got him.
- 41:41Speaker 1: He got him. He's being impeached. Is the p is
- 41:45Speaker 1: definitely gonna have long term consequences. Yeah, all positive though. Yeah,
- 41:51Speaker 1: so everything's gonna be great. Don't you worry at all?
- 41:55Speaker 5: Uh.
- 41:55Speaker 2: Anyway, that's our episode. Next week, we have a bonus
