- 0:02Speaker 1: Jaguars looking to bounce back after a tough loss to
- 0:05Speaker 1: the forty nine ers. What's your biggest concern going up
- 0:07Speaker 1: against the Titans?
- 0:08Speaker 2: Mike Vrabel, He always has this team ready to play.
- 0:11Speaker 2: We k teen last year he had Joshua with Dobbs
- 0:14Speaker 2: and the Jaguars needed a late miracle to make it happen.
- 0:16Speaker 3: Stay out of your own way.
- 0:36Speaker 1: Welcome to Jagszam on this Thursday. I'm Kannannie Stephens, Brian Sexton,
- 0:39Speaker 1: John Osier with us as we get ready for the
- 0:43Speaker 1: Titans matchup this Sunday. We put the forty nine ers
- 0:45Speaker 1: in the rear view mirror. We're focused forward now because
- 0:48Speaker 1: this is a big divisional matchup. We talked about it
- 0:49Speaker 1: all week. It's gonna have big repercussions, especially going to
- 0:52Speaker 1: the Texans the week after.
- 0:54Speaker 2: You know, the Jaguars had lost five in row to
- 0:57Speaker 2: the Titans entering last season, and they won both of
- 1:00Speaker 2: those and it felt huge because they had solved the
- 1:03Speaker 2: Derrick Henry diloma. They had figured out some things. Of course,
- 1:06Speaker 2: the Titans were all beat up. Now you want to
- 1:08Speaker 2: keep that going. We talked a little bit yesterday about
- 1:11Speaker 2: you're the big dog in the division, or you're supposed
- 1:13Speaker 2: to be the big dog in the division. With rookie
- 1:14Speaker 2: quarterbacks across their roster, this is a week to prove it.
- 1:18Speaker 4: Yeah, and I'm the first guy.
- 1:19Speaker 5: You Guys hear me all the time talk about how
- 1:21Speaker 5: dangerous the Titans are. I never really believe you've got
- 1:25Speaker 5: that team until you put them away. But that being said,
- 1:29Speaker 5: the reason I answered the top of the question show
- 1:30Speaker 5: the way I did. I think this game is more
- 1:32Speaker 5: about the Jaguars and is about the Titans. The Titans
- 1:34Speaker 5: are fine. If you don't play well, they can get you.
- 1:39Speaker 5: But you've got to not turn the ball over. And
- 1:41Speaker 5: then you've got to play defense, meaning stop the run,
- 1:44Speaker 5: create turnovers if you play to what you believe your
- 1:47Speaker 5: identity is, which is creating turnovers, being smart on offense.
- 1:51Speaker 5: They haven't been that, so they believe their offense is
- 1:54Speaker 5: and stopping the run. You're fine against this team, but
- 1:57Speaker 5: they haven't done that enough.
- 1:58Speaker 1: Got to help yourself. Let's go over some of the
- 2:00Speaker 1: things we have for you this week. We're gonna start
- 2:02Speaker 1: out with the tail of the turnovers. That's been a
- 2:04Speaker 1: buggaloo for this team as of late. Finally caught up
- 2:07Speaker 1: with them against San Francisco. Trevor Lawrence talked yesterday about
- 2:10Speaker 1: some of those issues, so things like that.
- 2:13Speaker 6: You know, I don't harp on too much those four
- 2:16Speaker 6: count situations like that, But the other ones, you know,
- 2:19Speaker 6: go back to Pittsburgh game, the one in the end zone,
- 2:21Speaker 6: go back to I think there's one against Indy, there's
- 2:23Speaker 6: one against Houston. Those are the ones that I can
- 2:26Speaker 6: think of where I feel like I didn't make a
- 2:27Speaker 6: great decision. So I think more more the issue personally
- 2:31Speaker 6: individually has been hanging on to the ball, you know,
- 2:33Speaker 6: in the pocket, getting stripped, if I am taking a hit,
- 2:36Speaker 6: keeping two.
- 2:37Speaker 4: Hands on it.
- 2:37Speaker 6: You know, I gotta do a better job of that.
- 2:39Speaker 6: And then collectively as an offense, you know, we have
- 2:42Speaker 6: to do a better job as a whole of just
- 2:44Speaker 6: not giving the ball away. We've had too many this season.
- 2:48Speaker 1: John, we talked a little bit about, you know, that
- 2:49Speaker 1: throwaway kind of interception at the end of the game.
- 2:52Speaker 1: Not talking about that, but just being smarter, whether it's
- 2:54Speaker 1: throwing the ball away when you're in field goal range,
- 2:56Speaker 1: not taking a sack, or you know, when you tried
- 2:58Speaker 1: to fire it off Tank's hands at one point in
- 3:00Speaker 1: the San Fran game and just is that just Trevor
- 3:03Speaker 1: trying to force stuff because he wants to make something happen.
- 3:05Speaker 5: Yeah, I think there's an element in the ozone podcast that's.
- 3:10Speaker 4: Last week.
- 3:11Speaker 5: I talked to Travis Etn and he had a fascinating
- 3:14Speaker 5: part of it where he talked about how he had
- 3:16Speaker 5: to learn to run in the NFL, meaning he had
- 3:19Speaker 5: to learn that it was okay to take a four
- 3:21Speaker 5: yard run. He said that was really hard for me,
- 3:24Speaker 5: that he couldn't beat everybody to sidelines. You saw it
- 3:27Speaker 5: last year, and it's hard to incorporate that if you're
- 3:30Speaker 5: a running back when you're first figuring it out. But
- 3:32Speaker 5: you saw it last year trying to make every play
- 3:34Speaker 5: a touchdown. Well, now he's a much better running back
- 3:36Speaker 5: because he has an NFL mindset.
- 3:38Speaker 4: I think there's a degree of that with Trevor, and
- 3:41Speaker 4: he's such a.
- 3:42Speaker 5: Talented guy and he's the quarterback believes that he can
- 3:46Speaker 5: make a big play on every play. We talked about
- 3:49Speaker 5: it earlier. The Tank Bigsby interception last week. No need
- 3:53Speaker 5: for the ball to be thrown because it was not
- 3:55Speaker 5: going to be.
- 3:56Speaker 4: A play that led any where, even if it so,
- 4:05Speaker 4: even if he.
- 4:06Speaker 5: Catches that ball, it's it's a two or three yard loss.
- 4:09Speaker 5: Now Trevor has no way of knowing how the play
- 4:11Speaker 5: is going to eventually go, but you can lower your
- 4:13Speaker 5: risk in a situation. Uh, and just dirting the ball
- 4:17Speaker 5: much the same way in the pocket. It felt like
- 4:21Speaker 5: Indy when he got hurt trying to make a play
- 4:24Speaker 5: outside where you just got to learn to sort of
- 4:26Speaker 5: take it. Now, you don't want to curtail the instincts
- 4:29Speaker 5: that this kid has because.
- 4:30Speaker 4: He makes special happen.
- 4:32Speaker 1: Uh.
- 4:33Speaker 4: So what we're talking, I'm sitting here saying it. I
- 4:35Speaker 4: don't know if I can do it in real time.
- 4:36Speaker 5: It's situation, but that's what you gotta do, and that
- 4:39Speaker 5: I think is his next process to becoming elite is
- 4:44Speaker 5: figuring out those situational awareness.
- 4:46Speaker 2: Yeah, you've got to know what's going on around you.
- 4:48Speaker 2: Which it's the throw in the end zone last year
- 4:50Speaker 2: against Houston or and this year this year against Pittsburgh.
- 4:53Speaker 2: I'll give you a better one or one that stands
- 4:55Speaker 2: out more to me. It was against the Bills in London.
- 4:58Speaker 2: They get the ball with eat across midfield right in
- 5:01Speaker 2: their second half and they're looking to hold off the
- 5:03Speaker 2: Bills who were charging and the ball goes over his head.
- 5:06Speaker 2: Just fall on it, just recover the ball, live to
- 5:09Speaker 2: find another place and he kind of fumbles to pick
- 5:12Speaker 2: it up and then he runs and someone's wrapped around him,
- 5:14Speaker 2: and then he tries to throw with an arm up.
- 5:16Speaker 2: Don't just go down. Punting is okay, and that's something
- 5:21Speaker 2: he has to learn.
- 5:22Speaker 4: Yeah, there is a school of thought.
- 5:24Speaker 5: If you end every possession with a kick, you're okay.
- 5:29Speaker 5: And you don't want to completely go that direction, because again,
- 5:33Speaker 5: the NFL is about making plays and quarterbacks.
- 5:35Speaker 4: You're gonna have mistakes. But I do remember with the
- 5:40Speaker 4: Colts when I first got there.
- 5:41Speaker 5: Peyton Manning was very interception from Tony Dungee got there
- 5:45Speaker 5: and I asked him, I said, well, isn't isn't a
- 5:48Speaker 5: quarterbacking this day and age. You're gonna have some picks, right,
- 5:51Speaker 5: you gotta live with that, And Tony's like, nah, now
- 5:52Speaker 5: you really don't. Well, one year after Tony got there,
- 5:57Speaker 5: Peyton went on a run where it was it was
- 5:59Speaker 5: ten in or seven and lower. So the point is
- 6:02Speaker 5: you can have explosive offense with that interception. And this
- 6:05Speaker 5: is sort off topic because I don't think Trevor's super
- 6:08Speaker 5: interception prone. It's just more situations where the fumbles in
- 6:14Speaker 5: the pocket, he said yesterday, those are ones that sometimes
- 6:18Speaker 5: you just get blasted from behind. It's going to happen.
- 6:21Speaker 5: But there are other times where he'd be the first
- 6:24Speaker 5: to tell you there can be better ball protection. And
- 6:27Speaker 5: it's a turnover, sack fumble like that is such a moment.
- 6:30Speaker 5: It's not just one play, it's a couple of series
- 6:33Speaker 5: that it takes you. The other day fumbles on the
- 6:35Speaker 5: forty eight, Yeah they stopped him, but the field position
- 6:40Speaker 5: was all sort of tucked back against the Jaguars.
- 6:43Speaker 4: Those are tough things to overcome.
- 6:45Speaker 2: Last five games, twelve turnovers. That they're four and one
- 6:48Speaker 2: is a miracle, right, The numbers say you should be
- 6:53Speaker 2: two and three. Right. You just don't win when you
- 6:55Speaker 2: turn the ball over that much. If they're going to
- 6:57Speaker 2: change the trajectory and go where they want to go, oh,
- 7:00Speaker 2: they got to protect the football.
- 7:02Speaker 1: The reason they were able to do that is because
- 7:03Speaker 1: of our big thing number two today, which is tail
- 7:06Speaker 1: of the takeaways. The defense has been miraculous and takeaways.
- 7:09Speaker 1: The differentials not great because of the turnovers. But racheon
- 7:13Speaker 1: Jenkins talked to us on Monday, and he said, the
- 7:14Speaker 1: team really needs to get.
- 7:15Speaker 7: Back to that we w I mean, we got to
- 7:17Speaker 7: help our offense out in situations like that, just just
- 7:21Speaker 7: I mean really because that that was a great defense
- 7:23Speaker 7: that they they were playing against yesterday. So we have
- 7:26Speaker 7: to you know, those are one of those games you
- 7:28Speaker 7: just have to go defense for defense, and we we
- 7:31Speaker 7: know what our formal is on our defense, and that
- 7:33Speaker 7: is takeaways. We've done a great job thus far with
- 7:37Speaker 7: the takeaways, but we know, you know, in order for
- 7:40Speaker 7: us to continue to have the sess success that we
- 7:43Speaker 7: were having, uh, we had to have those takeaways.
- 7:47Speaker 1: Ran the success of this defense a lot of it
- 7:49Speaker 1: is stopping the run and forcing turnovers, and they didn't
- 7:52Speaker 1: really do that against San Francisco and they didn't play
- 7:54Speaker 1: very well. Obviously a great team they're facing offense, but
- 7:57Speaker 1: how do you get.
- 7:58Speaker 2: There to that saw a shocking number yesterday that the
- 8:02Speaker 2: Jaguars are zero and twenty in the last twenty games
- 8:06Speaker 2: in which they have not forced a turnover. Oh and
- 8:09Speaker 2: twenty they've lost the last twenty games in which they
- 8:11Speaker 2: have not taken the ball away. It's amazing. You have
- 8:15Speaker 2: got to get back to that mentality. Especially, we're a
- 8:18Speaker 2: quarterback at an offense that are turnover prone. Right now,
- 8:21Speaker 2: you have got to give them an extra possession, You've
- 8:24Speaker 2: got to give them a shorter field. You've got to
- 8:26Speaker 2: make it easy on an offense that right now is
- 8:28Speaker 2: still trying to find itself. I'm amazed that here we
- 8:31Speaker 2: are coming up on Thanksgiving and we're still talking about
- 8:33Speaker 2: an offense that hasn't found itself. John. But if the
- 8:35Speaker 2: defense doesn't do some things to help them right now,
- 8:38Speaker 2: they're not capable.
- 8:39Speaker 4: Yeah, play the other way a little bit.
- 8:41Speaker 5: I think sometimes turnovers can be chicken an egg, meaning
- 8:46Speaker 5: you know, if you're trailing ten, nothing off off the
- 8:50Speaker 5: get go to team like San Francisco and then thirteen
- 8:53Speaker 5: and three, Well, they're built to very easily not turn
- 8:57Speaker 5: the ball over a whole lot. So some of that
- 9:00Speaker 5: is sort of self fulfilling, if that makes sense. Now,
- 9:03Speaker 5: I'm not saying they couldn't got any turnovers, but in
- 9:05Speaker 5: that game, I think about what happened early in that game.
- 9:08Speaker 5: All of a sudden, you had the short punt by
- 9:09Speaker 5: Logan Cook, which is incredibly unusual, but all of a sudden,
- 9:12Speaker 5: San Francisco starts on their thirty seven. It's been a
- 9:15Speaker 5: long time since a field position has really played into
- 9:19Speaker 5: this team's favor this year the Jaguars. So when San
- 9:22Speaker 5: Francisco gets the ball in that situation, they're gonna be
- 9:25Speaker 5: a little smarter. The great teams are not gonna turn
- 9:27Speaker 5: the ball over to you, and they have a good
- 9:29Speaker 5: situation in hand because they know to protect leads.
- 9:31Speaker 4: That being said, this team has turned the ball.
- 9:33Speaker 2: But we'll go back to the previous loss against CJ.
- 9:36Speaker 2: Stroud and the Texans back in September. That's a rookie
- 9:39Speaker 2: quarterback who had thrown the ball all over the place. Now,
- 9:42Speaker 2: he hadn't been interceptive at that point in his career.
- 9:44Speaker 2: You would think you'd be able to break the narrative,
- 9:47Speaker 2: which was the Jaguars getting in their own way for
- 9:49Speaker 2: most of the game, and they couldn't get it done. So,
- 9:52Speaker 2: I mean, I do get the other side of this thing.
- 9:53Speaker 2: But you've got a rookie quarterback this week, and Will
- 9:56Speaker 2: Loves who has shown a propensity to just chuck the
- 9:59Speaker 2: b down the field. He had in the touchdown pass
- 10:03Speaker 2: since the Falcons game, which was winning through four. So
- 10:06Speaker 2: he's gonna come out gunning, go get it.
- 10:09Speaker 4: I'm going to see it.
- 10:10Speaker 1: Our final big thing this week is tale of the Titans, because,
- 10:13Speaker 1: as we mentioned, they're not the Titans were always used
- 10:15Speaker 1: to seeing their three and six. This year, they've had
- 10:17Speaker 1: some struggles for sure, and Trevor talked a little bit
- 10:20Speaker 1: about what this division is like right now and why
- 10:23Speaker 1: this is so important.
- 10:25Speaker 6: We look at our division and it's it's a pretty
- 10:27Speaker 6: tight it's a pretty tight race right now. You know,
- 10:29Speaker 6: we're technically in first, but we're i mean, the Texans
- 10:33Speaker 6: and the Cults are right there. So and then the
- 10:35Speaker 6: Titans they're still i mean they're three and six, so
- 10:37Speaker 6: they're still we're still so early in the season. We
- 10:39Speaker 6: were in their position to think about it last year,
- 10:42Speaker 6: so we understand their sense of urgency. On the on
- 10:44Speaker 6: the flip side of that is they know how big
- 10:47Speaker 6: this game is too, so we're going to get their
- 10:48Speaker 6: best shot. They're a good team.
- 10:51Speaker 1: Talking a little bit about last year where it the
- 10:52Speaker 1: Jaguars were kind of in their position and then they
- 10:54Speaker 1: came back to win the division titles. So that just
- 10:56Speaker 1: shows how important this is to kind of get as
- 10:59Speaker 1: big of a lead as you can, as early as
- 11:00Speaker 1: you can.
- 11:00Speaker 2: Their offensive line had long been a strength for them,
- 11:03Speaker 2: and those guys have now gone away where the retirement
- 11:06Speaker 2: and injury or free agency. And of course Derrick Henry
- 11:10Speaker 2: is reaching that moment where big power running backs start
- 11:13Speaker 2: to decline, although he's averaging over four yards carry and
- 11:16Speaker 2: if you give him enough carries, he can really do
- 11:18Speaker 2: some damage to you. That being said to me, this
- 11:21Speaker 2: is all about these Jaguars being ready for this game
- 11:25Speaker 2: because last year they're playing for the playoffs. Guy, and
- 11:28Speaker 2: it's a primetime game here and Mike Vrabel comes in
- 11:31Speaker 2: with a guy that they had plucked off of the
- 11:32Speaker 2: Detroit Lions practice squad. No, we know Josh Dobbs because
- 11:35Speaker 2: he was here for a time in twenty nineteen, and
- 11:37Speaker 2: then we've seen what he's done this year in Arizona
- 11:39Speaker 2: and Minnesota. Nothing against Josh Dobbs, but there was no
- 11:43Speaker 2: way that that Jaguars team was on a winning streak
- 11:45Speaker 2: should have struggled like they did against Josh Dobbs in
- 11:49Speaker 2: primetime with the playoffs on the light, and yet they did.
- 11:52Speaker 2: So this team has got to be ready to avoid
- 11:55Speaker 2: the sort of what do you want to call it?
- 11:57Speaker 2: Letdown that they had on Sunday against the forty nine
- 12:01Speaker 2: ers bloodbath. They've all used the term we laid an
- 12:06Speaker 2: egg man. You can't lay an egg in the first
- 12:09Speaker 2: quarter and beat that guy on Sunday.
- 12:12Speaker 5: Yeah, it's a huge game. It's out of time for
- 12:16Speaker 5: panic because most seasons, even when it team's good, it's
- 12:21Speaker 5: pretty rare at mid season.
- 12:23Speaker 4: To have a five game lead and feel like you
- 12:25Speaker 4: clinch the thing.
- 12:25Speaker 5: It's the NFL. You're gonna have a couple of bad games.
- 12:30Speaker 5: Teams are gonna get close. It's still early. Everybody's so
- 12:33Speaker 5: bent up about the Texans, and I get the Texans
- 12:35Speaker 5: are fine, but they've also won the last two games
- 12:38Speaker 5: by a narrow margin.
- 12:39Speaker 4: They've had their time.
- 12:40Speaker 5: If you win the next two, you can make this
- 12:44Speaker 5: surge feel almost incidental. But guess what the Texans, if
- 12:49Speaker 5: they win their next two, they can make this surge
- 12:51Speaker 5: feel really important.
- 12:52Speaker 4: That's what the.
- 12:52Speaker 5: NFL is all about. So I think the Jaguars, I
- 12:56Speaker 5: think they're gonna recover. I think they have been very
- 12:58Speaker 5: good coming off bad law Is under Peterson.
- 13:01Speaker 4: I think they're going to go on a little run here.
- 13:03Speaker 5: But they got to go do it just because I
- 13:04Speaker 5: say it a main Yeah, you know they played awsome.
- 13:06Speaker 4: If it did, right, I mean I can say what.
- 13:08Speaker 2: Else do you want?
- 13:09Speaker 4: Right?
- 13:09Speaker 2: I mean if you just throw out be sitting here. Look,
- 13:13Speaker 2: this is simple. This is real armchair analysis. This team
- 13:17Speaker 2: can play better on both sides of the ball. Although
- 13:19Speaker 2: the defense is really played well this year. Time to
- 13:21Speaker 2: go play well, right? I mean, this is November when
- 13:25Speaker 2: the pretenders are separated from the contenders. November is that fulcrum,
- 13:30Speaker 2: that swing point in the season where you start to
- 13:32Speaker 2: identify who can and who cannot prove it. Let's go,
- 13:37Speaker 2: let's do it.
- 13:37Speaker 4: Stay with us.
- 13:38Speaker 1: Coming up after the break, we're going to go over
- 13:39Speaker 1: some of the impact players to seek for the game
- 13:42Speaker 1: on Sunday. Subdith is sordest, trusted and reliable moving company
- 13:50Speaker 1: said it is proud to be the official moving partner
- 13:52Speaker 1: of the Jacksonville Jaguars. You can get a guaranteed quote

- 14:00Speaker 1: Group Jacksonville. You can step up to luxury at fields
- 14:03Speaker 1: Auto dot com. Now we're gonna go over some of
- 14:05Speaker 1: the impact players what we think they'll be doing in
- 14:07Speaker 1: the game this weekend, Brian, who are you looking at?
- 14:10Speaker 2: I'm going with Josh Allen for my will He won't,
- 14:13Speaker 2: he might, and I think he will have a big game.
- 14:16Speaker 2: He played well last Sunday. He didn't have the numbers
- 14:18Speaker 2: against Trent Williams, but he more than held his own,
- 14:22Speaker 2: and so I think he breaks through this week. Now
- 14:24Speaker 2: it might not always be him, It might be the
- 14:27Speaker 2: guy on the other side, Trayvon Walker, who last week
- 14:30Speaker 2: played probably his best game as a pass rusher. We
- 14:34Speaker 2: couldn't really talk about it this week because everything else
- 14:36Speaker 2: was bad, but he was right there in the face
- 14:38Speaker 2: of the quarterback. And Josh Allen might be in the
- 14:42Speaker 2: pocket pushing things his direction and won't get the numbers,
- 14:46Speaker 2: but you'll feel Josh Allen. You also might feel Treyvon
- 14:49Speaker 2: Walker because of Josh.
- 14:52Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, I agree. I think the edge of guys
- 14:55Speaker 5: have been good all season. I think circumstances in each
- 14:58Speaker 5: game will determine how many.
- 15:00Speaker 4: Sacks those guys get. That's usually the case.
- 15:02Speaker 3: I went with Calvin Ridley.
- 15:06Speaker 5: He will be a factor offensively, and he will draw
- 15:10Speaker 5: in interference penalty because he always does. I think sometimes
- 15:13Speaker 5: that has gotten lost this year. His numbers have frustrated fans.
- 15:18Speaker 5: I'm sure asst his numbers have frustrated Calvin a little bit,
- 15:22Speaker 5: but I think it shows you how hard he is
- 15:25Speaker 5: to cover and how legitimately dangerous he is. I think
- 15:29Speaker 5: he's drawn nine penalties. I think the number is over
- 15:31Speaker 5: one hundred yards. That's not nothing, and a couple of
- 15:34Speaker 5: those penalties have changed the game. So I still think
- 15:38Speaker 5: he matters in this offense.
- 15:40Speaker 4: He won't be the quote focus. They're not going to
- 15:44Speaker 4: feed him the ball. I just don't.
- 15:47Speaker 5: I got a lot of emails this week why is
- 15:49Speaker 5: any more involved? And I just don't think this offense
- 15:52Speaker 5: right now wants to overly feed him. Well, I remember
- 15:54Speaker 5: how clunky had felt early in the season when they
- 15:56Speaker 5: were trying to do that. I think they want to
- 15:58Speaker 5: have it still happen or organically for him. I think
- 16:01Speaker 5: they will take some deep shots. They talked about that.
- 16:03Speaker 5: If you're gonna take deep shots, it's a Calvin Ridley
- 16:06Speaker 5: type game.
- 16:06Speaker 4: So it gets some and I think you're gonna see.
- 16:08Speaker 5: Him come out and throw five straight past the can't
- 16:10Speaker 5: really in the game. He might make the difference. I
- 16:13Speaker 5: thought he would make a big difference last week. I
- 16:15Speaker 5: was surprised that he was not a big time factor.
- 16:18Speaker 5: I think the game circumstance didn't allow it.
- 16:20Speaker 4: They didn't get in the red zone very much. But
- 16:23Speaker 4: I think he.
- 16:26Speaker 5: I think this is the game where he starts to
- 16:28Speaker 5: sort of move in that direction. I think after nine games,
- 16:31Speaker 5: you're gonna feel that chemistry sort of come together.
- 16:33Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, I talked to some folks in Atlanta
- 16:35Speaker 2: who they said that he was always most successful when
- 16:38Speaker 2: he was in motion, that he wasn't a static receiver,
- 16:41Speaker 2: and a lot of times you see him but the
- 16:42Speaker 2: line of scrim is just jumping, and of course he's
- 16:44Speaker 2: being pressed because he's Calvin Ridley. I wouldn't be surprised
- 16:48Speaker 2: if they didn't try to get him in motion more
- 16:50Speaker 2: to get him moving, because when you look at the
- 16:52Speaker 2: big explosive plays that he's been capable of in his career,
- 16:55Speaker 2: a lot of those have him.
- 16:57Speaker 1: Moving and we haven't seen much of that yet. No,
- 16:59Speaker 1: not yet, So definitely an option. I went with Travis
- 17:02Speaker 1: etn because I think he will get back in the
- 17:05Speaker 1: end zone. Of course, the team in general didn't get
- 17:06Speaker 1: in the end zone in their last game, but I
- 17:08Speaker 1: think Travis is when we've seen the offense do well.
- 17:10Speaker 1: It's when Travis has been doing well. He won't take
- 17:13Speaker 1: over the game. I don't think he's gonna have three touchdowns,
- 17:15Speaker 1: but I think he will get back in the end zone,
- 17:17Speaker 1: get things moving a little bit, and he might be
- 17:19Speaker 1: kind of the key to help open things up on offense.
- 17:22Speaker 1: We saw him get that receiving touchdown a couple of
- 17:25Speaker 1: games ago, and I think that's something that they haven't
- 17:28Speaker 1: utilized a ton of either, And that might be something
- 17:30Speaker 1: where if they show a couple different looks kind of
- 17:31Speaker 1: Travis as a threat there. He has good hands, he
- 17:33Speaker 1: can catch, so to kind of utilize him in that way,
- 17:36Speaker 1: maybe something new, something different. I mean, you got to
- 17:38Speaker 1: try something at this point, right.
- 17:39Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, you sure do. I mean I also wouldn't
- 17:42Speaker 2: be surprised to see them really try to force the
- 17:44Speaker 2: ball into short yard situations with Travis. They have a
- 17:48Speaker 2: lot of confidence, you know, I mean, doct Doug Peterson
- 17:50Speaker 2: said when training camp again he can get his shoulders
- 17:52Speaker 2: square to the line of scrimmage and be that you know,
- 17:55Speaker 2: fifteen sixteen hundred yard back. Well, if he's going to
- 17:58Speaker 2: be that over the course of his career, he's gonna
- 18:00Speaker 2: have to be able to get third down to one,
- 18:02Speaker 2: third down to two. And as I talk to people, John,
- 18:04Speaker 2: there's nobody that exhibits any lack of confidence in Travis,
- 18:08Speaker 2: and I just get the sense that they want to
- 18:11Speaker 2: maybe force the issue with it.
- 18:12Speaker 5: Yeah, he can definitely do that. They tried a little
- 18:15Speaker 5: bit last week. I thought to sort of minimize his
- 18:18Speaker 5: carries a little bit. I would say minimize, but you know,
- 18:21Speaker 5: give the earnest and tank some carries. I still wonder
- 18:27Speaker 5: how much they'll be able to stick with that as
- 18:29Speaker 5: games get important and close, because Travis has been so
- 18:32Speaker 5: good and it's important it's a good call cut, it's
- 18:36Speaker 5: so important to be able to run the ball into
- 18:39Speaker 5: the end zone. When they have felt like a good
- 18:42Speaker 5: team this year, they've been doing that pretty well, and
- 18:44Speaker 5: they beat Indy early in a stretch where they were
- 18:49Speaker 5: winning finishing off the drives. Against Buffalo New Orleans, that's
- 18:54Speaker 5: when they felt like they were flexing a little bit offensively.
- 18:56Speaker 5: So last week was tough because you could really stick
- 19:00Speaker 5: with it. But I think as when games are closed,
- 19:04Speaker 5: I think you're gonna stick with ETN and I'll begin
- 19:06Speaker 5: a buntion he knows why are they running so much? That,
- 19:08Speaker 5: you know, but I think they feel like they've got
- 19:11Speaker 5: to stick with it even when it's gonna struggle, and
- 19:13Speaker 5: I think it's thing's gonna struggle at times with some
- 19:17Speaker 5: pops from him.
- 19:18Speaker 1: All right, stay with us as we look ahead. We're
- 19:20Speaker 1: gonna give you what we think the headlines will be
- 19:22Speaker 1: on Monday. At the break. This Sunday's game against the
- 19:27Speaker 1: Titans is going to be delivered by c S f
- 19:30Speaker 1: CFX is how tomorrow moves. Not great at predicting the future,
- 19:44Speaker 1: but we are going to try today as we do
- 19:47Speaker 1: tomorrow's headlines today. So Ryan, when do you think the
- 19:50Speaker 1: front page is gonna say on Monday.
- 19:52Speaker 2: Well, if if I was the headline rider, I think
- 19:54Speaker 2: you would say something like tightened up because the Jaguars
- 19:56Speaker 2: have been too loose with the football. The great thing
- 19:59Speaker 2: about the T ANDSS is that they play fundamental football.
- 20:02Speaker 2: They really do the little things well, which requires you
- 20:05Speaker 2: to do the little things well. But I don't think
- 20:07Speaker 2: there's anything more important heading into the stretch run of
- 20:09Speaker 2: the season than doing the little things well. I mean,
- 20:13Speaker 2: it's great to get the over the top passes to
- 20:14Speaker 2: Calvin Ridley, but if you go convert on third down
- 20:17Speaker 2: and two or third down and three, you're not gonna
- 20:19Speaker 2: stay on the field. If you don't convert in the
- 20:21Speaker 2: red zone right and get the touchdowns step of the
- 20:23Speaker 2: field goals, you're not gonna win the games against the
- 20:25Speaker 2: Bengals and the Ravens late in the year when seeding
- 20:28Speaker 2: is going to be so important. So a game against
- 20:30Speaker 2: the Titans requires you to play good, sound, fundamental football,
- 20:35Speaker 2: and I think they'll be tightened up and ready to
- 20:37Speaker 2: go for the stretch run.
- 20:38Speaker 1: John, you go back to newspaper days, what do you
- 20:40Speaker 1: get for the headline?
- 20:41Speaker 3: See?
- 20:42Speaker 4: I went with back where they belong?
- 20:44Speaker 5: That you know they're already in first place, so I
- 20:48Speaker 5: guess it's still where they belong. I say, think they're
- 20:51Speaker 5: the best team in the division. I think when you're
- 20:53Speaker 5: six and three, you've earned that status. Mainly, I think
- 20:58Speaker 5: this game and they play well, and I think they'll
- 21:01Speaker 5: play well. I think fans will say, Okay, well, it's okay,
- 21:04Speaker 5: we're seven and three. We've got a good stretch run
- 21:06Speaker 5: coming up in front of us.
- 21:07Speaker 4: There's still hope.
- 21:09Speaker 5: I think maybe this game will put some perspective back
- 21:12Speaker 5: in the conversation.
- 21:12Speaker 2: And you know that's really important because they may not
- 21:16Speaker 2: look elite, right, I mean, they may not look like
- 21:19Speaker 2: the San Francisco forty nine ers or the Kansas City Chiefs,
- 21:22Speaker 2: but they're still a really good football team. And that's
- 21:24Speaker 2: what I think people have lost. You you get beat
- 21:26Speaker 2: like that, John, you walk out of here and going, man,
- 21:28Speaker 2: they are not what I thought they were. And you
- 21:30Speaker 2: immediately go from here to hear in your people's minds
- 21:32Speaker 2: and the opportunity to get back right tightened up, back
- 21:36Speaker 2: where you belong to start playing good football again reminds people. Yeah,
- 21:39Speaker 2: I mean they're not here. They may not be here,
- 21:42Speaker 2: but they're like here. This is what this week is about.
- 21:44Speaker 5: It's gonna sound like a coach cliche, but teams are
- 21:47Speaker 5: different throughout the course of the year. The Patriots Flints
- 21:50Speaker 5: lost the Buffalo bill is thirty one nothing to win
- 21:52Speaker 5: the Super Bowl and they.
- 21:53Speaker 4: Lost in the opener.
- 21:54Speaker 5: So you can get most coaches want to get to
- 21:59Speaker 5: mid November and then try to stay healthy, improve, start peaking,
- 22:04Speaker 5: start playing.
- 22:04Speaker 4: Well after this. So six and three, you win this year,
- 22:08Speaker 4: seven and three and you have seven left. You have
- 22:10Speaker 4: it all out in front of you. If you.
- 22:14Speaker 5: Improve like you think if you started hitting some chemistry
- 22:16Speaker 5: like you think, and you go on a run, there
- 22:18Speaker 5: all of a sudden, that seven and three start gets
- 22:20Speaker 5: here at twelve and five and you and you forget
- 22:22Speaker 5: all about this. They were two and six last year. Yeah,
- 22:27Speaker 5: improvement is possible in the NFL. They have to improve,
- 22:30Speaker 5: but you need to win this to put yourself in
- 22:32Speaker 5: a position.
- 22:33Speaker 4: To do that.
- 22:33Speaker 1: I think it's definitely a stepping stone game in my
- 22:35Speaker 1: mind as well, because I think I went when defense dominates,
- 22:38Speaker 1: because if the team is going to be good this year,
- 22:40Speaker 1: thought it was going to be offense, it's the defense.
- 22:42Speaker 1: So they need to go out there, take care of
- 22:44Speaker 1: Derrick Henry, make him not a huge factor, and also
- 22:47Speaker 1: take advantage of the rooky quarterback. Will Levice had those
- 22:49Speaker 1: four touchdowns in his first game. He hasn't looked great
- 22:51Speaker 1: after that. He's someone you can rattle.
- 22:53Speaker 4: He's someone you.
- 22:53Speaker 1: Can get to, you know, force a couple of interceptions,
- 22:56Speaker 1: bad throws, and give your offense the ball back. Because
- 23:00Speaker 1: because we know they need time to figure things out,
- 23:02Speaker 1: I think this is a good game for them to
- 23:04Speaker 1: kind of get in the end zone, get a win,
- 23:06Speaker 1: kind of work on it, and then Houston will be
- 23:08Speaker 1: a huge matchup that we're looking at.
- 23:09Speaker 2: You know, Henry Is he's been a story obviously because
- 23:13Speaker 2: he's from here and he's a great player. Last year
- 23:15Speaker 2: he had fifty carries fifty one carries and just over
- 23:18Speaker 2: two hundred yards in two games. And a guy grabbed
- 23:20Speaker 2: me the other day, go, that's your four yards per carry. Well,
- 23:22Speaker 2: he had one fifty yard run, right, So then he
- 23:25Speaker 2: had fifty carries for one hundred and fifty yards, which
- 23:28Speaker 2: is three yards. So if you can just keep him
- 23:31Speaker 2: from getting that big run where he hits the scene downfield,
- 23:35Speaker 2: you can limit him and the hammer that he can
- 23:38Speaker 2: be at your defense. I mean, trust me, we were
- 23:41Speaker 2: all still traumatized by the ninety nine yard run on
- 23:44Speaker 2: Thursday Night Football back in twenty nineteen. He's not that
- 23:47Speaker 2: guy anymore, but if you give him a crase and
- 23:49Speaker 2: let him do fifty on you, it's gonna make you
- 23:51Speaker 2: look bad.
- 23:53Speaker 1: Let's hope they keep him contented, all right. Coming up
- 23:55Speaker 1: after the break, we're gonna have a little more about
- 23:57Speaker 1: the game on Sunday and we'll be right back. Jags fans,
- 24:04Speaker 1: if you want customized Jaguars furniture for your home, You

- 24:14Speaker 1: So we're back here at Everybank Stadium this week. It's
- 24:17Speaker 1: actually the Salute for Service games, so it's gonna be great.
- 24:19Speaker 1: We'll have tons of veterans, military members their families.
- 24:22Speaker 4: Out there today.
- 24:22Speaker 1: A lot of cool stuff is planned for that and
- 24:25Speaker 1: hopefully a good outcome on the field as well, because
- 24:27Speaker 1: we haven't seen a lot of great home games so.
- 24:29Speaker 2: Far this year. No, and that has been a point
- 24:32Speaker 2: of contention all week long. You know, in every press conference,
- 24:36Speaker 2: you're in the locker room, Hey, what's the matter at home?
- 24:38Speaker 2: And nobody has an answer for it. I don't know
- 24:40Speaker 2: that anything's the matter at home? They just last week
- 24:44Speaker 2: it was San Francisco. Yeah, great, done, hard to explain that.
- 24:47Speaker 2: The Houston gag still looking for you know, what went
- 24:49Speaker 2: wrong there because that was supposedly a good week of
- 24:52Speaker 2: practice off the lows to Kansas City. I don't know
- 24:54Speaker 2: about the home thing. Here's what I know, you know,
- 24:56Speaker 2: going all the way back to the first game they
- 24:57Speaker 2: ever played in this stadium in the regular season against
- 24:59Speaker 2: the then Houston Boilers, this franchise now in Tennessee has
- 25:04Speaker 2: had the upper hand. I think it's thirty three and
- 25:06Speaker 2: twenty three the number in terms of the regular season.
- 25:12Speaker 2: So Jaguars haven't won three in a row against the
- 25:14Speaker 2: Titans since two thousand and five, two thousand and six.
- 25:17Speaker 2: It's been a long time.
- 25:19Speaker 1: Time to start something, y Yeah, time.
- 25:20Speaker 2: To start well again. My theme has been if this
- 25:23Speaker 2: is going to be your division, if you believe you're
- 25:26Speaker 2: the big dog in the division. You got young quarterbacks.
- 25:30Speaker 2: You have a young quarterback, but you've got young quarterbacks
- 25:32Speaker 2: now that they're starting to lean on a little bit.
- 25:35Speaker 2: This is a year to establish it, go get it.
- 25:37Speaker 5: The next two weeks shape the narrative, but it starts
- 25:39Speaker 5: this week. If you know when this week, then boyd,
- 25:43Speaker 5: does Houston look like? You know, yeah, yeah, you're hardly.
- 25:47Speaker 4: Thinking about Houston at that point because you're worried about
- 25:49Speaker 4: what's going on here.
- 25:50Speaker 2: So and much credit to C. J. Stroud, I mean,
- 25:53Speaker 2: and Demigo Ryans. I mean, if he's the coach of
- 25:55Speaker 2: the year right now in the NFL, that's not a
- 25:57Speaker 2: great roster. I mean, they're just getting started with their rebuild.
- 26:00Speaker 2: But the quarterback is a revelation and the coach has
- 26:04Speaker 2: them playing really well. So that's for next week's shows.
- 26:06Speaker 2: We'll have a lot to talk about. But if you
- 26:08Speaker 2: get through this one the way that you should, will
- 26:10Speaker 2: you set up a big game next week?
- 26:12Speaker 1: All right, it's gonna be a good one. We hope
- 26:14Speaker 1: you all enjoy the game on Sunday. We'll be right
- 26:16Speaker 1: back here on jagxam to go over everything for you.
- 26:17Speaker 1: On Monday morning,
