- 0:22Speaker 1: Thank you. Many of you know that I have two
- 1:04Speaker 1: cats who I believe, anyway, are competing for who can
- 1:12Speaker 1: catch the most mice. And this time of year, when
- 1:17Speaker 1: it's starting to get chilly outside, the mice are starting
- 1:20Speaker 1: to push in. They're finding their way to get to
- 1:26Speaker 1: where they're going to be nesting for the winter. And
- 1:30Speaker 1: they know, especially these old farmhouses like mine. So you
- 1:34Speaker 1: got a combination of an old farmhouse from 1858 and
- 1:39Speaker 1: two cats, which means this time of year, you're finding
- 1:45Speaker 1: stuff not on a daily basis, but an hourly basis.
- 1:50Speaker 1: Woke up this morning and found probably the biggest rat
- 1:58Speaker 1: that I think I've I've ever seen. The thing was
- 2:01Speaker 1: the size of a football. And it was just resting
- 2:07Speaker 1: there on the kitchen floor. So I want to thank
- 2:12Speaker 1: Momo and or Melvin. Not sure which one got it,
- 2:16Speaker 1: but what a pleasant way to begin the day with
- 2:20Speaker 1: a gigantic, huge, fat rat. right there on the kitchen floor.
- 2:30Speaker 1: Good morning, everybody, and welcome to a new day. It
- 2:34Speaker 1: is pouring outside right now, and I've got to just
- 2:37Speaker 1: tell you, I love it. I love looking outside and seeing.
- 2:43Speaker 1: I love days like this. After six or seven of
- 2:47Speaker 1: them in a row, you can get a little tiresome.
- 2:55Speaker 1: But every now and then, two or three in a
- 2:58Speaker 1: row is okay, too. But here's a live shot right there.
- 3:03Speaker 1: Looking out at North Main Street in Barrie. And, yeah,
- 3:09Speaker 1: it's coming down. It's coming down good. We got a
- 3:12Speaker 1: wet one today for sure. Meteorologist Tyler Jankowski says expect
- 3:17Speaker 1: periods of steady rain with embedded downpours and the risk
- 3:23Speaker 1: for an isolated thunderstorm. This is off the... off his
- 3:26Speaker 1: Facebook page. Then it's going to be turning breezy. Highs
- 3:29Speaker 1: falling into the 40s and the 50s. Wednesday, a little
- 3:36Speaker 1: drier tomorrow. And let's see, what are they saying? Just
- 3:44Speaker 1: lost my place here. Yeah. Cloudy, though. Still a few
- 3:51Speaker 1: light showers. Highs into the mid-50s tomorrow, Wednesday. And then
- 3:56Speaker 1: high pressure returns on Thursday. More sunshine. Still going to
- 4:00Speaker 1: be chilly, though. Highs into the lower 50s. And another
- 4:03Speaker 1: round of rain on Friday. Highs going to be staying
- 4:06Speaker 1: in the 50s and turning breezy. And then after that,
- 4:10Speaker 1: the coldest air of the season so far. Likely this weekend.
- 4:16Speaker 1: Highs only reaching into the 30s. Maybe lower 40s on Saturday,
- 4:23Speaker 1: if you're lucky. I think that's probably going to be
- 4:25Speaker 1: the case in the Valley. But strong northwest wind, rain,
- 4:34Speaker 1: and I'll say mountain. Well, this is Tyler Jankowski, actually,
- 4:40Speaker 1: that's saying mountain snow showers. I'm sorry. That's the first time,
- 4:46Speaker 1: I think, on the air this season that I've said
- 4:48Speaker 1: the S word. I like the fact that it's mountain snow.
- 4:53Speaker 1: Snow showers. And not just snow showers. But anyway, yeah,
- 5:01Speaker 1: you're going to see it. Sunday, drier, highs closer to 50.
- 5:10Speaker 1: Colder weather's coming. And I spoke with G yesterday, and
- 5:14Speaker 1: he was just having a meltdown about it. I'm sure
- 5:18Speaker 1: he'll be complaining this Friday.
- 5:23Speaker 2: Okay.
- 5:23Speaker 1: This coming Friday. We got a lot going on this week, man.
- 5:26Speaker 1: I got to give you an update here on 20
- 5:29Speaker 1: stores in 20 days, and I will. This morning, let's
- 5:36Speaker 1: see if I can show this here. Stacey Holden, who's
- 5:40Speaker 1: down in Fort Pierce, sharing this this morning. And this
- 5:46Speaker 1: is the SpaceX launch that took place Early this morning,
- 5:54Speaker 1: I think it was like, what, 6 o'clock or something
- 5:56Speaker 1: like that? But we're supposed to be on the eastern seaboard.
- 6:04Speaker 1: We're supposed to be, we were supposed to be able
- 6:08Speaker 1: to see it this morning. But there it is. Look
- 6:11Speaker 1: at that. This was taken this morning early. Stacey Holden,
- 6:18Speaker 1: who's with us this morning, and there it is. the
- 6:23Speaker 1: SpaceX launch, this would be, you got to admit, living
- 6:29Speaker 1: down there would be so badass to see all of
- 6:33Speaker 1: these launches all the time. And this like jellyfish type
- 6:39Speaker 1: of hue in the sky, I think the higher it
- 6:45Speaker 1: gets up, is supposed to be really prominent. But there
- 6:50Speaker 1: it is. I mean, how cool is that to be
- 6:53Speaker 1: able to sit in your yard, presumably with a very
- 6:57Speaker 1: hot cup of coffee at, uh, Oh, dark 30 this
- 7:02Speaker 1: morning to be able to watch this, but there's the
- 7:06Speaker 1: shot this morning. Stacey, thank you so much. What a
- 7:11Speaker 1: freaking great guy for sending that to us. You know, who,
- 7:16Speaker 1: who honestly, who the hell needs to, to get on the, uh,
- 7:21Speaker 1: the stream for that. You know, what was it? Let's see,
- 7:28Speaker 1: I got it somewhere. I think it was, I think
- 7:31Speaker 1: it was shown on. Well, Cape Canaveral, obviously.
- 7:36Speaker 2: Oh, yeah.
- 7:38Speaker 1: Nasa.gov slash live. If you want to see the NASA
- 7:45Speaker 1: coverage of it, nasa.gov slash live. Honestly, though, in my book,
- 7:55Speaker 1: Stacey Holden's shot there, real. Not to say that NASA
- 8:02Speaker 1: isn't real or that the Falcon 9, for that matter,
- 8:07Speaker 1: isn't real. But Stacey's shot is fantastic. I love it.
- 8:12Speaker 1: I love it. Apparently, they're doing the cargo dragon to
- 8:18Speaker 1: the International Space Station. The 35th resupply, about 6,500 pounds
- 8:26Speaker 1: of supplies is what I'm reading here. Crystal, who's down
- 8:34Speaker 1: in North Carolina, says, I hear the sound of freedom
- 8:40Speaker 1: when the boys are playing with their artillery. Well said.
- 8:44Speaker 1: I agree. I would feel the same way. So this
- 8:48Speaker 1: is the final set of the International Space Station rollout
- 8:53Speaker 1: solar arrays. Plus hardware for making artificial retinas in microgravity. Okay.
- 9:04Speaker 1: 3D heart tissue models for drug testing. This is what's
- 9:10Speaker 1: on board. And Brain organoids for studying Alzheimer's and Parkinson's.
- 9:24Speaker 1: This is what's on board. This cargo dragon, part of
- 9:31Speaker 1: the Falcon 9 that's shooting up there. Yep. Admittedly, I don't,
- 9:40Speaker 1: I don't know. Anything about this, maybe I should study
- 9:44Speaker 1: up on it. Shame on me. I should know, but
- 9:46Speaker 1: I don't. The booster comes straight back and lands at
- 9:50Speaker 1: Landing Zone 40 in Florida. Sonic booms expected on the
- 9:57Speaker 1: Cape Canaveral Space Coast there. So docking is Thursday around
- 10:03Speaker 1: 11 a.m. Stacey, are you going to get that for
- 10:07Speaker 1: all of us up here in Vermont so that we
- 10:10Speaker 1: can see and hear down there in Fort Pierce? Thursday,
- 10:15Speaker 1: 11 a.m., and the Dragon is going to stay until mid-November.
- 10:20Speaker 1: But again, the docking, Thursday, 11 a.m. You can watch
- 10:24Speaker 1: that live, too. NASA.gov-live. You want me to drop that
- 10:29Speaker 1: in the link for you? Okay, I will, so that
- 10:31Speaker 1: you know. 20 stores in 20 days launched yesterday. And
- 10:42Speaker 1: it was Dudley's. Stop number one, day number one of
- 10:46Speaker 1: 20 consecutive days. What in the? Lord, have I gotten into.
- 10:55Speaker 1: It's going to be wild. Every day, and I say
- 10:59Speaker 1: around noon, could be 5 or 10 of, could be 10,
- 11:09Speaker 1: 15 after, but somewhere around noon is when I will
- 11:13Speaker 1: be featuring a different store on a different day every day.
- 11:18Speaker 1: And I've had a few people, are you going here?
- 11:21Speaker 1: Are you going there? I've had some threats from the
- 11:26Speaker 1: Waits River General Store that if I don't go there
- 11:30Speaker 1: that they'll never speak to me again. Monty threatening to
- 11:34Speaker 1: break both of my legs and throw me in the
- 11:36Speaker 1: dumpster if I don't go there. So, of course, I will.
- 11:42Speaker 1: But it's going to be a wild ride. I'm going
- 11:46Speaker 1: to put some miles on. And I can't wait to
- 11:50Speaker 1: show you some of these stores. It is going to
- 11:53Speaker 1: be just amazing. A lot of fun. And we invite
- 12:00Speaker 1: you to tune in and come along with us. There
- 12:03Speaker 1: are so many incredible, unique stores around Vermont. And yes,
- 12:09Speaker 1: I'm staying in the state of Vermont. I'm not going
- 12:12Speaker 1: over to New Hampshire. Chris Autry. with us live from
- 12:16Speaker 1: North Carolina. Good morning, buddy. How are you?
- 12:19Speaker 2: I'm good, man.
- 12:19Speaker 1: How are you? I'm well. Listen, first of all, I
- 12:23Speaker 1: haven't spoken with you in a long time. Are you
- 12:25Speaker 1: doing okay?
- 12:26Speaker 2: I'm good, man.
- 12:29Speaker 1: Is Sam with you?
- 12:30Speaker 2: He is with me right here.
- 12:33Speaker 1: How are you boys handling the NFL season so far?
- 12:37Speaker 1: How are you dealing with the Steelers? I understand there's
- 12:40Speaker 1: been some, do I say heartache?
- 12:46Speaker 2: Well, for me, I think what helps me through the
- 12:51Speaker 2: heartache of our team and how we're playing back, we
- 12:56Speaker 2: don't even know which Steeler team is going to show up.
- 12:58Speaker 2: What helps me through that is just how bad the
- 13:01Speaker 2: Dallas Cowboys are. Yeah. Every time Dallas gets on the field, man,
- 13:07Speaker 2: it's just a comedy of errors, man. Yeah, they don't
- 13:10Speaker 2: know how to play. They can't even play Madden.
- 13:13Speaker 1: Comedy of errors.
- 13:15Speaker 2: Wow. Bad news bears, man, but it's 2026.
- 13:18Speaker 1: Yeah, but you guys, who did you guys, who did the,
- 13:22Speaker 1: I say you guys because when I think of the Steelers,
- 13:25Speaker 1: I think of you guys, like you guys are actual
- 13:27Speaker 1: players on the team. You're part owners as well. You
- 13:32Speaker 1: have so much stock and so much investment in the
- 13:35Speaker 1: Pittsburgh Steelers, but who did you guys just play where
- 13:38Speaker 1: you just, you had your head in your hands for
- 13:41Speaker 1: the rest of the afternoon and frankly the next day?
- 13:45Speaker 2: Oh, that was the Browns. It was the Browns.
- 13:49Speaker 1: What was that all about?
- 13:52Speaker 3: We have two old men at the helm, and we
- 13:56Speaker 3: really do need to switch it up.
- 13:57Speaker 2: I think it needs to go to Mason, Drew, or Will.
- 14:02Speaker 2: I think it's about time.
- 14:03Speaker 3: The only good things about Aaron I like is that
- 14:07Speaker 3: he has a deep ball.
- 14:09Speaker 2: I like the wisdom that he has because he's been
- 14:11Speaker 2: in the league for so many years.
- 14:13Speaker 3: But the problem is that he cannot scramble out of
- 14:17Speaker 3: the pocket.
- 14:18Speaker 2: You can see it.
- 14:18Speaker 3: Once that pocket starts collapsing on him, he's going to
- 14:22Speaker 3: get sacked. It doesn't matter if it's second down and 15.
- 14:25Speaker 3: It doesn't matter if it's third and 20. He's going
- 14:28Speaker 3: to get sacked because he cannot run out of that pocket.
- 14:30Speaker 3: And that's the reason why we're not winning.
- 14:33Speaker 1: Autry, is he just repeating what you're feeding him here,
- 14:36Speaker 1: or is this really coming from him directly?
- 14:40Speaker 2: No, it's coming from him. It's coming from him. Listen,
- 14:43Speaker 2: I'm old. I fall asleep during games now. So it's
- 14:48Speaker 2: straight up coming from him. He's personally gotten exceptionally better
- 14:54Speaker 2: at football IQ and playing football. So he knows his
- 14:59Speaker 2: thing or two. You know, my thing is Aaron's hit
- 15:03Speaker 2: or miss. I think we need to– I think we
- 15:07Speaker 2: need to cut DK. I think DK turned out to
- 15:10Speaker 2: be a bust. I think we're not going to have
- 15:14Speaker 2: Roman Wilson for several weeks, so Bernard's going to have
- 15:18Speaker 2: to step up. Hitman's out.
- 15:21Speaker 1: Listen, I'm just going to say it like it is,
- 15:23Speaker 1: and I'm sorry if I'm offending both of you, but
- 15:27Speaker 1: the Steelers, they were really, they just flat out sucked
- 15:32Speaker 1: against Cleveland. I'm sorry.
- 15:34Speaker 2: Yep. We did. See, the difference between us and the
- 15:38Speaker 2: Cowboys is we're mad enough to admit that when we suck,
- 15:43Speaker 2: we suck.
- 15:44Speaker 3: You know, the thing is that we did not lose
- 15:47Speaker 3: to an undrafted quarterback.
- 15:49Speaker 1: That's 0-4.
- 15:51Speaker 2: That's my take.
- 15:55Speaker 3: That's more embarrassing, I think, personally, than losing.
- 15:57Speaker 2: To the Browns.
- 15:59Speaker 3: Because I knew we were going to lose to the Browns.
- 16:01Speaker 2: We have not won a game in Cleveland in seven years.
- 16:04Speaker 1: Autry, have you had a chance to explain to Sam
- 16:09Speaker 1: about who my brother is and how much he embodies
- 16:13Speaker 1: the Steelers?
- 16:16Speaker 2: I actually have not. I've shown him pictures, but no, no,
- 16:21Speaker 2: I have not. Why don't you take the helm here?
- 16:25Speaker 1: He wakes up every day and before he gets out
- 16:28Speaker 1: of bed to put his fluffy little Steelers slippers on. Um,
- 16:32Speaker 1: he says a prayer for the Steelers. Um, and not,
- 16:38Speaker 1: I mean, you know, not that he really needs to, but, um,
- 16:42Speaker 1: and he then gets in the shower, pulls back the, uh,
- 16:46Speaker 1: the Steelers shower curtain and, and gets in the, uh, the,
- 16:49Speaker 1: the shower and, and uses his, um, his Steelers, uh,
- 16:54Speaker 1: body soap. Um, And it begins like that. Then he
- 16:59Speaker 1: eventually gets the Steelers mug out for the coffee and
- 17:02Speaker 1: then gets in the car with the Steelers floor mats.
- 17:07Speaker 1: But he says that when he cuts himself, he bleeds
- 17:11Speaker 1: yellow and black. Every time the Steelers play, he's a chef,
- 17:18Speaker 1: so he makes food that corresponds with the opponent. So
- 17:25Speaker 1: that the food can be consumed by the family. My
- 17:31Speaker 1: niece and nephews and my sister-in-law, they all sit around
- 17:34Speaker 1: and they're all wearing different Steelers jerseys. They've got some
- 17:37Speaker 1: of the old ones and some of the new ones.
- 17:39Speaker 1: And they wave the flags and burn the candles and
- 17:42Speaker 1: burn the incense and do the Steelers seance. And then
- 17:46Speaker 1: they consume... the food that's in tradition of the opponent
- 17:53Speaker 1: so that it can be consumed. And the other day
- 17:57Speaker 1: when they played the Colts, my brother sent up a
- 18:02Speaker 1: picture of a large slab of meat, which had a
- 18:07Speaker 1: dry rub on it, and it was going to be smoked.
- 18:10Speaker 1: He called it horse meat. I don't know.
- 18:13Speaker 2: I don't.
- 18:16Speaker 1: I don't know what it was. I still don't know
- 18:19Speaker 1: what it was. But he said that it was horse meat.
- 18:24Speaker 2: We don't ask those questions, do we? No.
- 18:26Speaker 1: No, you never. Please don't. And he said that he
- 18:30Speaker 1: was going to be serving up Colt sliders.
- 18:36Speaker 2: We sure did. Yeah.
- 18:38Speaker 3: I mean, that was probably the best Pittsburgh Steelers I've
- 18:43Speaker 3: watched in about... A year and a half.
- 18:45Speaker 2: It was time for Jalen Warren to show out like
- 18:50Speaker 2: he did. It's time for our offense to click on
- 18:53Speaker 2: all cylinders with our defense. And, you know, man, I'm
- 18:59Speaker 2: back and forth on Aaron Rodgers. I mean, Sam's right.
- 19:02Speaker 2: He can't get out of the pocket, but he can
- 19:04Speaker 2: still throw it. He makes good decisions. Yeah. But, man,
- 19:08Speaker 2: I just, you know, I think it's– I'm glad this
- 19:12Speaker 2: is the last year. Hopefully he's trained up those new QBs. But,
- 19:18Speaker 2: you know, I got to try one of those Colt Sliders, man. Yeah.
- 19:22Speaker 1: And there were some other things on the menu, which–
- 19:28Speaker 1: that we have Sam on the line with us. I
- 19:31Speaker 1: probably will pass on telling you exactly what that– I'll
- 19:35Speaker 1: send you a private text later. We'll just leave. It'll
- 19:42Speaker 1: be off. It'll be definitely off the air. Yeah.
- 19:46Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 19:48Speaker 1: But if you ever want to know, Sam, what's on
- 19:51Speaker 1: the menu when the Steelers are playing at my brother's house,
- 19:54Speaker 1: just send me a text, and I will send you.
- 19:57Speaker 1: He sends me photos every time. When's the next game
- 20:00Speaker 1: for the Steelers?
- 20:02Speaker 2: This week, Tampa Bay. Okay. Okay. which should be should
- 20:08Speaker 2: be you know should be a w.
- 20:09Speaker 3: For honestly we play like how we played but i
- 20:11Speaker 3: was telling dad last night that i am so nervous
- 20:14Speaker 3: to watch this game this week because every single time
- 20:16Speaker 3: we have this really good win where we look like
- 20:19Speaker 3: a really good team yeah and then the next week
- 20:22Speaker 3: we just look like we forget how to play football
- 20:24Speaker 3: once again you.
- 20:25Speaker 1: Know that there's other sports that are going on boys
- 20:27Speaker 1: i mean we got major league baseball we got the
- 20:30Speaker 1: American League, I think, was just clinched by, what, the Rays?
- 20:34Speaker 1: I mean, there's other things going on in the sports world.
- 20:36Speaker 1: Are you aware of that?
- 20:37Speaker 2: Well, in our house. Well, the Tampa Bay Devil Rays
- 20:40Speaker 2: are playing the Cleveland Guardians. We live in Stedman, North Carolina,
- 20:45Speaker 2: and Gavin Williams, starting pitcher for Cleveland Indians, sealed the
- 20:50Speaker 2: game for them this weekend to play in the ALCS. Okay.
- 20:55Speaker 2: So we're kind of rooting for Cleveland right now. Our
- 20:57Speaker 2: Red Sox and Pirates, they're nowhere near in the playoffs.
- 21:00Speaker 2: They're stuck at home.
- 21:02Speaker 3: I don't follow this baseball sport.
- 21:04Speaker 2: I follow football.
- 21:05Speaker 1: Okay.
- 21:06Speaker 2: That's true. We're a little bit impatient for baseball.
- 21:10Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 21:10Speaker 2: You know, I watch a lot of college and a
- 21:12Speaker 2: lot of NFL.
- 21:13Speaker 1: Autry, do you have the Steelers jersey yet?
- 21:16Speaker 2: I do. I have two. We have two.
- 21:18Speaker 1: I'm talking about dad.
- 21:22Speaker 2: You talking about who?
- 21:23Speaker 1: I'm talking about you, Chris.
- 21:25Speaker 2: Yeah, he shares a jersey with me. I share it.
- 21:28Speaker 1: Okay.
- 21:29Speaker 2: I have a T.J. Watt jersey. He has a Franco
- 21:32Speaker 2: Harris jersey. And, you know, we were at the NFL
- 21:37Speaker 2: draft back in April.
- 21:38Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 21:40Speaker 2: Decked out in all of our Steeler gear, man. Went
- 21:42Speaker 2: to the strip, bro. Got some good food. Woo! Homie
- 21:47Speaker 2: over here was on TV all day. He was on
- 21:51Speaker 2: ESPN all day. Wow. He got a seat right at
- 21:57Speaker 2: the wall where all the hosts and stuff, they walked
- 22:01Speaker 2: back and forth down this aisle. So the cameras, man,
- 22:03Speaker 2: they kept catching Sam. They heard it was his 16th birthday.
- 22:06Speaker 2: They kept him on TV all day. Our phones kept
- 22:09Speaker 2: lighting up. Are y'all in Pittsburgh, man? What's going on?
- 22:12Speaker 2: I saw Sam on TV. You know what?
- 22:15Speaker 3: I do know that we have listeners on, and I
- 22:18Speaker 3: just want to talk to the fellow Giants fans on
- 22:23Speaker 3: the radio if they're listening. I am so sorry. Y'all
- 22:27Speaker 3: deserved that win. Cam Scalabella decided to fumble it. Did
- 22:31Speaker 3: not help my fantasy.
- 22:33Speaker 2: But y'all, kudos to y'all for tying. That's all I'm
- 22:38Speaker 2: going to say. Kudos to you for tying.
- 22:41Speaker 1: Audrey, he's got the Southern draw now. What's going on
- 22:44Speaker 1: down there?
- 22:44Speaker 2: Whoa. He's got the Southern draw, but he knows good
- 22:52Speaker 2: syrup when he tastes it.
- 22:54Speaker 1: This is true. Listen, next weekend, my nephews are flying
- 23:00Speaker 1: to Paris to see that game, the Steelers. That's devotion
- 23:08Speaker 1: right there, boys.
- 23:09Speaker 2: And they didn't take their uncle?
- 23:12Speaker 1: No, they didn't even, no, they didn't invite me or anything.
- 23:14Speaker 1: They're taking off and they're going to Paris for that game.
- 23:19Speaker 2: Dude, you, what's wrong? Have you not been buying them
- 23:21Speaker 2: good Christmas gifts or something? Have you been forgetting some
- 23:26Speaker 2: birthdays or something?
- 23:27Speaker 1: No, really.
- 23:28Speaker 2: They didn't even think about you? I know. I know.
- 23:31Speaker 2: Is your brother going? No.
- 23:34Speaker 1: It's just the two of them. Wow. Yeah, I know.
- 23:40Speaker 2: I know.
- 23:40Speaker 1: There's a little bit of jealousy.
- 23:42Speaker 2: I am extremely jealous. You know how hard it is
- 23:44Speaker 2: to get tickets for a game in Pittsburgh? Yeah. I
- 23:48Speaker 2: can't imagine how hard it would be to get one
- 23:50Speaker 2: in Paris.
- 23:50Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I know.
- 23:53Speaker 2: We better win.
- 23:54Speaker 1: I know they're going to be sending me lots of pictures.
- 23:57Speaker 1: I'll make sure I forward them right over to you.
- 24:00Speaker 2: Yeah, man. Hook me up, man.
- 24:02Speaker 1: Thanks for coming on, guys.
- 24:03Speaker 2: You guys doing okay up there?
- 24:03Speaker 1: Yeah, we're doing all right, man. I miss you an
- 24:06Speaker 1: awful lot. I hope that you'll come back up north
- 24:08Speaker 1: at some point. Real soon, man.
- 24:11Speaker 2: We do. I miss you too, buddy. We're planning on it. Hey,
- 24:14Speaker 2: I want to shout out somebody, though, real quick.
- 24:16Speaker 1: Yeah, go.
- 24:17Speaker 2: All those guys fixing the BOR and doing what the
- 24:21Speaker 2: government is too scared to do, can't do, too distracted
- 24:25Speaker 2: to do.
- 24:25Speaker 1: Yep.
- 24:26Speaker 2: Kudos to those guys, man. Yep. Kudos to those guys.
- 24:29Speaker 2: Those are the guys that need to be on city council.
- 24:32Speaker 2: They need to be running for office in Vermont. Yep.
- 24:35Speaker 2: They need to be taken over because they are what
- 24:37Speaker 2: is best for Vermont. I mean, a lot of problems
- 24:40Speaker 2: get fixed if you put guys like that in leadership.
- 24:45Speaker 1: There is, you know, and maybe I'll get your take
- 24:48Speaker 1: on this. There's a lot of.
- 24:53Speaker 1: I'll find the soundbite here, but... There's some, you know.
- 25:02Speaker 1: You were up here long enough in Vermont to know
- 25:06Speaker 1: that there's controversy. You don't have to look very far
- 25:10Speaker 1: for it. And now we've got folks that are saying...
- 25:15Speaker 1: I don't know that we have folks. At least we
- 25:18Speaker 1: have one individual who's saying, if we had put as
- 25:24Speaker 1: much energy into our homeless problem as we did... and
- 25:31Speaker 1: as we have and as we are putting into the BOR,
- 25:41Speaker 1: that maybe we wouldn't have such a bad homeless problem.
- 25:46Speaker 2: Yeah, I saw Sonia Spaulding.
- 25:48Speaker 1: You saw that.
- 25:50Speaker 2: Yeah, I saw the video. And, you know, to some degree,
- 25:55Speaker 2: she's not wrong. But the problem is... The problem is
- 26:01Speaker 2: how a group of people want to solve the homeless problem.
- 26:07Speaker 2: It is their means of solving the homeless problem that's
- 26:11Speaker 2: the issue. Homelessness needs to be solved, or a remedy
- 26:15Speaker 2: needs to be found better than what's in Berry and
- 26:18Speaker 2: better than what's here in Fayetteville. There are better solutions,
- 26:24Speaker 2: but if the means by doing that means... not passing
- 26:30Speaker 2: a school budget, not funding education and sports teams the
- 26:33Speaker 2: way it should be, taking away from families, jacking up
- 26:36Speaker 2: taxes so people can't live there, or jacking up taxes
- 26:41Speaker 2: so that a small group of people can live there
- 26:43Speaker 2: and afford it, then you're just creating more homelessness. That's
- 26:48Speaker 2: all you're doing. I think the means by which they
- 26:53Speaker 2: want to solve homelessness is is not the answer. Our
- 26:58Speaker 2: kids need to be educated. They need sports teams to
- 27:00Speaker 2: play on. The VOR needs to run. The Berry Auditorium
- 27:06Speaker 2: needs to house the Coyotes, and long-term, and homelessness needs
- 27:11Speaker 2: to be remedied. All of those things need to be
- 27:15Speaker 2: on an equal plane, and it needs to be done
- 27:17Speaker 2: without hurting the taxpayers that are getting abused in Vermont
- 27:21Speaker 2: and here in North Carolina, by the way. Yeah.
- 27:26Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, Rich McSheffrey, and I'm sure you've seen the, well,
- 27:32Speaker 1: you said that you've seen the video and heard the audio,
- 27:37Speaker 1: but his question at the very end of a very long, long,
- 27:42Speaker 1: long rant post, which I have read a couple of times,
- 27:48Speaker 1: his question at the end is, what specific achievable solution
- 27:53Speaker 1: Are you proposing for our local housing crisis? Who would
- 27:58Speaker 1: pay for it? And why should preserving opportunities for our
- 28:03Speaker 1: children have to wait until that problem is solved? I
- 28:08Speaker 1: would genuinely like to hear an answer to that.
- 28:14Speaker 2: That is precisely the right question. That's my point. If
- 28:19Speaker 2: you're going to provide free housing for homeless individuals, I
- 28:25Speaker 2: know from working with homelessness, that doesn't do anything but
- 28:28Speaker 2: create more homelessness. And in order to do that, you've
- 28:31Speaker 2: got to pay for it. And right now, you guys
- 28:34Speaker 2: can't get a school budget pass. And by the way, again,
- 28:37Speaker 2: this isn't a Barry problem. It's a Fayetteville, North Carolina problem, too.
- 28:42Speaker 2: You're not getting a school budget pass. You're cutting... The
- 28:45Speaker 2: teachers don't get paid enough, nowhere near enough for what
- 28:48Speaker 2: they have to deal with. You're cutting the kids' sports teams.
- 28:52Speaker 2: So you're taking away any and all opportunities for younger
- 28:56Speaker 2: generations to advance, which is not going to do anything
- 29:01Speaker 2: but create more homelessness down the road. And so there's
- 29:05Speaker 2: got to be a system in place where you not
- 29:08Speaker 2: only help the homeless, but you help them out of homelessness. And,
- 29:13Speaker 2: you know, that was one of the reasons I was
- 29:15Speaker 2: a big fan of capstone. I just loved, I loved how, Hey,
- 29:21Speaker 2: you need food, come get it. The second time you
- 29:23Speaker 2: need food, here's responsibilities in order to get it right.
- 29:27Speaker 2: You know, and we're going to give you job skills
- 29:28Speaker 2: and you got to go find a job so that
- 29:30Speaker 2: you can continue to come here and get food. And
- 29:31Speaker 2: so I just, I think there's, I think that's, that's
- 29:35Speaker 2: got to be the approach. Now, how that looks in detail,
- 29:38Speaker 2: I don't know. but it can't just be raise taxes,
- 29:43Speaker 2: not educate our kids or pay our teachers and let's
- 29:48Speaker 2: go and just take care of homelessness. It can't, that's
- 29:50Speaker 2: not the answer. Rich is exactly, exactly right. And listen,
- 29:55Speaker 2: let me just, let me tell you, man, where we are, uh,
- 29:59Speaker 2: There's homelessness all over our city, but it's contained in
- 30:03Speaker 2: these small areas of Fayetteville that exacerbates and grows high crime.
- 30:14Speaker 2: And so if you're anywhere near that area, which you
- 30:17Speaker 2: have to be in our city, if you're anywhere near
- 30:20Speaker 2: those areas, man, it could be dangerous, even during the
- 30:24Speaker 2: middle of the day. And so, I mean, we have
- 30:28Speaker 2: a favorite Mexican restaurant that we eat at just about
- 30:31Speaker 2: every single week. And there's somebody always asking for food
- 30:35Speaker 2: and the restaurant will give them food or we usually
- 30:38Speaker 2: buy them something. I mean, we've had people come in
- 30:41Speaker 2: and stand at our dinner table and demand money from
- 30:44Speaker 2: us as we're waiting on our food and because they're homeless.
- 30:50Speaker 2: And so. you know, you have these really volatile situations.
- 30:54Speaker 2: And so I don't think, you know, we as a
- 30:57Speaker 2: city are doing things very well either. And, but I
- 31:01Speaker 2: know this, it can't just be raising taxes and give
- 31:04Speaker 2: them everything they want. Yeah.
- 31:08Speaker 1: You know, it, my, my thing is one of the
- 31:12Speaker 1: things that one of the many things that I've thought
- 31:15Speaker 1: when I've seen this, this video is how can we,
- 31:20Speaker 1: how can we, The language around here is so contentious. It's...
- 31:32Speaker 1: I'm sure it is everywhere, but how can we be
- 31:36Speaker 1: passionate about one thing and not have others try to
- 31:43Speaker 1: attach what they're passionate about to it and say, well,
- 31:47Speaker 1: if this, then.
- 31:51Speaker 1: Why can't we just keep stuff compartmentalized? I mean, we're
- 31:57Speaker 1: talking about two totally different things here, man. And, you know,
- 32:02Speaker 1: she's saying, you know, if we had as much, and
- 32:07Speaker 1: I won't put words in her mouth, but what I
- 32:09Speaker 1: take from it is if we had as much passion
- 32:13Speaker 1: for about our homeless problem is we have invested into
- 32:18Speaker 1: the BOR, we wouldn't have a homeless problem or we
- 32:20Speaker 1: would have a grasp on it. And I respectfully disagree.
- 32:26Speaker 1: I think that this homeless problem is something that this
- 32:33Speaker 1: whole community everywhere has been primed. It's been built and
- 32:38Speaker 1: I think it's getting worse for many different reasons, many
- 32:45Speaker 1: different reasons. And it's getting worse up here in Vermont,
- 32:49Speaker 1: I'll tell you, real fast. And every winter, we go
- 32:52Speaker 1: through every winter saying, how are we going to keep
- 32:57Speaker 1: people alive? I mean, we had a guy that froze
- 32:59Speaker 1: to death last winter, right here in Barry. Is it
- 33:03Speaker 1: a serious problem? You bet. But, man, it's like, can
- 33:07Speaker 1: we just be passionate about one thing at a time here?
- 33:11Speaker 2: Well... First of all, you got to stay focused on
- 33:16Speaker 2: the big picture, okay? And I don't think people are...
- 33:21Speaker 2: And that's my whole point is the BOR, it getting fixed,
- 33:27Speaker 2: the school budget passing, all those things, making sure there
- 33:32Speaker 2: are sports, all those things play into the homelessness issue
- 33:38Speaker 2: because education... athletics not only builds better morale, but it
- 33:46Speaker 2: opens opportunities for kids to succeed in a variety of
- 33:51Speaker 2: different ways. And I could go on and on about that,
- 33:57Speaker 2: but I think it takes, number one, big picture. Number two,
- 34:01Speaker 2: I think it takes humility that our culture despises. You're
- 34:09Speaker 2: exactly right. why can't we compartmentalize homelessness to itself and
- 34:16Speaker 2: deal with the issue to itself? Well, the reason why
- 34:20Speaker 2: is because there's so much arrogance in leadership these days.
- 34:25Speaker 2: And it's not just, listen, it's in the church, it's
- 34:29Speaker 2: in the government, it's in every form of government, including
- 34:32Speaker 2: small town governments. And a lot of people want kickbacks.
- 34:38Speaker 2: They want decisions to be made for their own personal
- 34:41Speaker 2: advantage or their own personal glory or to scratch the
- 34:45Speaker 2: itch of their ego, which is what you're seeing out
- 34:48Speaker 2: of Sonja Spalding. And not for the sake of let's
- 34:55Speaker 2: do what's right and what's good. That's why I said
- 34:58Speaker 2: she's partially right. She's partially right. If we had people
- 35:02Speaker 2: who were really concerned about homelessness and who were concerned
- 35:06Speaker 2: enough to put everything aside. Let's sit down at the table. Everybody,
- 35:12Speaker 2: no matter if you are liberal or conservative or independent,
- 35:17Speaker 2: no matter where you are on the political spectrum, say, guys,
- 35:19Speaker 2: we've got this homelessness issue. What are we doing right now?
- 35:23Speaker 2: What's already out there? What's working? What's not working? What
- 35:27Speaker 2: do we need to be doing different so that we
- 35:28Speaker 2: make sure not one more homeless person freezes to death
- 35:31Speaker 2: in the wintertime? What are the strategies in place? And
- 35:36Speaker 2: we make those decisions and put those strategies in place
- 35:38Speaker 2: at the expense of my own personal agenda, whether it
- 35:42Speaker 2: be in my ego, my affiliations with people, my governmental
- 35:49Speaker 2: policies that this may affect. It's going to take that.
- 35:54Speaker 2: And until that happens... nationally, from small-town leadership, from church leadership,
- 36:01Speaker 2: small-town leadership, from leaderships in school systems, from the Ruitans,
- 36:08Speaker 2: the Lions Club, all the way up to the presidency,
- 36:13Speaker 2: until that happens in leadership, we're going to keep on
- 36:17Speaker 2: this sinking ship. And And there's no other way to
- 36:23Speaker 2: look at it, and there's no other way around it.
- 36:25Speaker 2: The ship's going to continue to sink. So take on water,
- 36:28Speaker 2: and sooner or later, man, it's all going to crumble apart.
- 36:31Speaker 1: Chris, you were the former pastor at the Faith Community
- 36:35Speaker 1: Church right here in the Granite City. You are well
- 36:38Speaker 1: aware of the connection, and it wasn't just the floods,
- 36:43Speaker 1: but the connections between your old church and all of
- 36:49Speaker 1: the other churches around here. I mean, there's so many.
- 36:51Speaker 1: I mean, there's amazing churches here. I mean, Enough Ministries
- 36:55Speaker 1: is just one of several. You've got the Heading Church.
- 36:58Speaker 1: I mean, they all work, push and pull together. You
- 37:04Speaker 1: all know, and you just mentioned Capstone a little while ago,
- 37:08Speaker 1: there are so many services. There are so many services here.
- 37:15Speaker 1: There's an abundance of it. They're all connected, and it's
- 37:20Speaker 1: like homelessness is very connected to substance use. Homelessness is
- 37:28Speaker 1: very connected to mental health. Sometimes you got all three
- 37:34Speaker 1: working together. Sometimes it's only two. Sometimes it's none of
- 37:40Speaker 1: the above. People end up homeless for lots of different reasons.
- 37:47Speaker 1: But the services that are out there are amazing. There
- 37:52Speaker 1: are so many opportunities for people to take advantage. They've
- 37:57Speaker 1: got this sitting on their lap, and they've got the
- 37:59Speaker 1: resources to be able to, you know, Maslow's hierarchy of
- 38:05Speaker 1: needs here, food, shelter. But then there's job placement. There's
- 38:15Speaker 1: so many. There's so many. And what I've heard is
- 38:19Speaker 1: that there's also a large portion of the community that
- 38:28Speaker 1: don't take advantage of those services, don't want them, and
- 38:31Speaker 1: would rather just stay on the road that they're on.
- 38:35Speaker 2: Well, that's the other problem, right? Like that's something that
- 38:42Speaker 2: has got– you can't remedy that, right? Um, no, you know, there, there,
- 38:47Speaker 2: there's a, there's, there's two ways to look at this.
- 38:51Speaker 2: Number one, you can lead a horse of water, but
- 38:54Speaker 2: you can't make them drink. Right. Or you can lead
- 38:58Speaker 2: a horse of water and you can make them drink,
- 39:00Speaker 2: but you can't change their point of view. And both
- 39:03Speaker 2: of those things are at play here. You can't make
- 39:06Speaker 2: somebody take part in those services. Um, And that's got
- 39:13Speaker 2: to be a reality. That's got to be a part
- 39:16Speaker 2: of the conversation. That's got to be a reality. Working
- 39:20Speaker 2: with people with addictions, I could not make people stop
- 39:25Speaker 2: their addictions. I can give them all the tools. I
- 39:27Speaker 2: can give them all the resources. I can prove to
- 39:30Speaker 2: them the consequences. I have advocated for them to law enforcement,
- 39:36Speaker 2: to counselors. I've done the counseling. But at the end
- 39:40Speaker 2: of the day, I can't get that person to stop
- 39:43Speaker 2: drinking alcohol. I can't get that person to get rid
- 39:50Speaker 2: of their marijuana or their crack cocaine. You can't do that, right?
- 39:54Speaker 2: At the end of the day, it comes to that
- 39:56Speaker 2: personal choice. And so that's got to be a reality
- 39:59Speaker 2: that you've got to... That's a card that's in the deck, man.
- 40:01Speaker 2: You've got to hold that card because... And there's nothing
- 40:05Speaker 2: you can do. That's why I don't think you're ever
- 40:06Speaker 2: going to be totally... You're not going to be able
- 40:08Speaker 2: to totally remedy homelessness. Homelessness, by the way, is also
- 40:13Speaker 2: a frame of mind. People are homeless because they either... they, they,
- 40:19Speaker 2: that's all that they know. They, so they never known
- 40:22Speaker 2: anything else. They, they, maybe they were, maybe that's, that's
- 40:25Speaker 2: just been a part of their life or their homelessness because, um,
- 40:30Speaker 2: I've seen veterans who are homeless because man, they, they
- 40:33Speaker 2: don't feel like they're worthy of their military, um, benefits
- 40:36Speaker 2: after they retire. And, uh, so, so it, it can,
- 40:41Speaker 2: it can be kind of a worldview. That's, that's really
- 40:44Speaker 2: what you know. And, um, and you know how to
- 40:47Speaker 2: take advantage of the system, you know where the resources are,
- 40:52Speaker 2: you can't change that in a person. Just like I
- 40:57Speaker 2: can't change a Cowboy fan to being a Sealer fan.
- 41:03Speaker 2: You just can't change that in a person, and that's
- 41:05Speaker 2: got to be part of the reality you're dealing with.
- 41:09Speaker 1: Well said. Listen, I know you're snug on time, but
- 41:14Speaker 1: I'm going to ask you something. And if you want
- 41:17Speaker 1: to pass on it respectfully, of course, I would understand
- 41:21Speaker 1: that and respect that. But I want to just ask you,
- 41:25Speaker 1: and I hope you're sitting down, about December 3rd and
- 41:32Speaker 1: what's going to happen. The Pentagon announced that former Major
- 41:38Speaker 1: Nadel Hassan, the 2009 Fort Hood shooter who killed 13
- 41:44Speaker 1: and wounded more than 30 is going to be executed
- 41:48Speaker 1: by firing squad. And President Trump endorsed it on October 9th,
- 41:56Speaker 1: quoted in the media saying he deserves it. The live
- 42:01Speaker 1: stream is still under determination, apparently. There's been a lot
- 42:05Speaker 1: of bipartisan backlash on this. Senator Chris Murphy, a Democrat
- 42:12Speaker 1: from Connecticut, just called it medieval. Um, and why is
- 42:16Speaker 1: he mimicking ISIS executions? But there's, there's plenty of folks
- 42:23Speaker 1: out there that are saying, Hey, um, go back to
- 42:26Speaker 1: the Bible. Eye for an eye, tooth for tooth. Maybe
- 42:31Speaker 1: this will deter others from committing such a horrific, heinous crime. Um,
- 42:45Speaker 1: I know I'm unpacking a lot here, and again, if
- 42:48Speaker 1: you want to pass on this one, I understand.
- 42:51Speaker 2: I'll be glad. First of all, the eye for an eye,
- 42:53Speaker 2: a tooth for a tooth thing has been twisted. The
- 42:57Speaker 2: point that Jesus makes in the Gospels is, you know,
- 43:02Speaker 2: you've heard it said eye for an eye, a tooth
- 43:04Speaker 2: for a tooth, but what we're really doing is when
- 43:06Speaker 2: we tell you to turn the other cheek, we're showing mercy, right? Now,
- 43:12Speaker 2: you need to know this is going to sound antithetical
- 43:14Speaker 2: because I do believe that Scripture, as a pro-life Christian,
- 43:20Speaker 2: I'm a believer in the death penalty. And I believe
- 43:24Speaker 2: the guy deserves the death penalty. In this particular case,
- 43:29Speaker 2: here's the death penalty. I believe this should have been
- 43:32Speaker 2: resolved a long time ago. But the side of the
- 43:35Speaker 2: part of this is whether we should televise the death penalty.
- 43:40Speaker 2: I think is disgraceful. I think it's a national security risk.
- 43:46Speaker 2: It is very un-American. You know, Saddam Hussein, when he
- 43:54Speaker 2: was tried and hung, that was not even televised. And
- 43:59Speaker 2: so I think that I have so many issues with
- 44:06Speaker 2: our president. I've had him all along. I've been in
- 44:09Speaker 2: the camp since the beginning that he's duping people and
- 44:13Speaker 2: coercing Christians. using them for their vote. As a conservative,
- 44:21Speaker 2: I've not been a Trump supporter at all. I made
- 44:25Speaker 2: very clear I voted for Nikki Haley last time. I
- 44:28Speaker 2: voted for myself the first time. I think Pete Hegseth,
- 44:34Speaker 2: there's some things I love that what he's doing with
- 44:36Speaker 2: the War Department that need to be done, being on
- 44:38Speaker 2: a military installation, hearing from our guys here, There are
- 44:42Speaker 2: certain things that need to be cleaned out in the military.
- 44:45Speaker 2: There are certain things I give him a lot of
- 44:47Speaker 2: credit for. But in this regard, I think he lacks
- 44:51Speaker 2: the humility to understand the situation. I think he is
- 44:56Speaker 2: showing extremely poor leadership and carelessness. You're putting gasoline on
- 45:05Speaker 2: fire for terrorist groups by showing this. And two, man,
- 45:10Speaker 2: what does this say about our culture? that we want
- 45:13Speaker 2: to sell that we want to, we want to publicly
- 45:15Speaker 2: celebrate the UFC fight, right? Like this is, um, this is,
- 45:21Speaker 2: this shows how ungodly, uh, our leaders are Hegseth and Trump. Um,
- 45:28Speaker 2: and I just think that, um, I think that they
- 45:30Speaker 2: need to keep this private. Uh, it does not need
- 45:33Speaker 2: to be televised. I'm hoping as much, I'm hoping all
- 45:36Speaker 2: the social media networks will not cover it. Uh, the
- 45:40Speaker 2: news networks will not cover it. Um, And I think
- 45:44Speaker 2: that we can preserve some American dignity and American justice. So, um,
- 45:50Speaker 2: but I, I just, I am not a fan of
- 45:53Speaker 2: this at all. My curiosity is that was a long
- 45:56Speaker 2: time ago. Why didn't we deal with this earlier?
- 45:59Speaker 1: Yeah. Right.
- 46:00Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 46:01Speaker 1: Hmm. Interesting. And, and that's coming from, uh, from your mouth,
- 46:08Speaker 1: someone who is again, conservative.
- 46:13Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm a conservative Republican. I'm a conservative independent. I'm
- 46:17Speaker 2: a former Republican. I just I can I think the
- 46:23Speaker 2: death penalty for this guy needs to happen. I just
- 46:26Speaker 2: televising it is a horrific idea. And I mean, on
- 46:32Speaker 2: so many levels, I mean, I just can't. I don't know.
- 46:36Speaker 2: I just can't get my head around what they're thinking,
- 46:40Speaker 2: you know. we're on the verge, by the way, we're
- 46:43Speaker 2: on the verge now of, of joining Saudi Arabia and
- 46:48Speaker 2: going to war against Yemen. So now we're going to
- 46:51Speaker 2: be fighting Iran and Yemen, Yemen, a hotspot for ISIS. So, um,
- 46:58Speaker 2: I just, I, it just does not, it doesn't, it
- 47:02Speaker 2: doesn't make sense to me.
- 47:07Speaker 1: Thanks for coming on, buddy. I really appreciate it. I,
- 47:10Speaker 1: I hope I didn't add a gray hair to your
- 47:13Speaker 1: head on this one, but I really appreciate it.
- 47:17Speaker 2: I did that already. Sam does that already. All right.
- 47:20Speaker 2: Don't worry about that.
- 47:21Speaker 3: Wow.
- 47:22Speaker 2: But anyway, man, I love you, buddy.
- 47:23Speaker 1: I love you too, bud. I hope to see you
- 47:25Speaker 1: guys soon. It would be great.
- 47:26Speaker 2: All right, man.
- 47:27Speaker 1: If you come up here, let me know. I will, buddy.
- 47:30Speaker 2: All right. We'll see, man.
- 47:31Speaker 1: Chris and Sam. Autry, live on the air this morning
- 47:35Speaker 1: from North Carolina. Yeah, this will be the first U.S.
- 47:38Speaker 1: military execution since 1961 and the first military firing squad
- 47:45Speaker 1: since 1945. No government execution has ever been broadcast. This
- 47:52Speaker 1: will be the first time. What do you say about this?
- 47:57Speaker 1: You know, here's the thing. I can talk about these
- 48:02Speaker 1: things online. But I really, I really want to hear
- 48:10Speaker 1: from my followers, my listeners here on this podcast. I
- 48:15Speaker 1: want to hear what you have to say. Don't hold back.
- 48:21Speaker 1: Don't be afraid to post a comment on this. There's no,
- 48:27Speaker 1: I don't think anyway, that there's any right or wrong
- 48:31Speaker 1: answer or reaction to this. People have opinions about it.
- 48:38Speaker 1: You know, I've heard sentiment that, you know, the whole
- 48:46Speaker 1: execution thing is just a gigantic cluster right now. We
- 48:51Speaker 1: can give someone two lethal doses, and not only do
- 48:59Speaker 1: they not die, but in a matter of, what, a
- 49:02Speaker 1: couple of weeks? They're alive up and walking and talking?
- 49:11Speaker 1: I don't know. You know, Vinny brings up a good point. Clearly,
- 49:15Speaker 1: that would be impossible to censor and children would see it.
- 49:19Speaker 1: That's a... That's an absolute given right there. Once it's
- 49:26Speaker 1: put out for the public, it'll be played and replayed
- 49:31Speaker 1: and replayed. It'll be everywhere. Social media. is foaming at
- 49:40Speaker 1: the mouth waiting for this to drop on December 3rd.
- 49:46Speaker 1: If it even does. And it may not. It may not.
- 49:52Speaker 1: I mean, there's just, like I said, there's just a
- 49:56Speaker 1: massive amount of backlash on this. And it's bipartisan. It's
- 50:01Speaker 1: all over. But what will ultimately happen if this gets
- 50:08Speaker 1: live streamed? Will you watch? And I ask you that.
- 50:15Speaker 1: I know people that are planning on watching. I know
- 50:20Speaker 1: people that think it's great that this is going to
- 50:25Speaker 1: be live streamed. We'll see what happens. I mean, the
- 50:38Speaker 1: UN High Commissioner for Human Rights has just referred to
- 50:44Speaker 1: public executions as a form of torture.
- 50:52Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 50:53Speaker 1: What say you? A public spectacle of that is barbarically
- 51:08Speaker 1: killing our adversaries. Hassan's lawyer, John Galligan, who is a
- 51:21Speaker 1: retired colonel, former military judge, called it abominable and akin
- 51:30Speaker 1: to a public lynching. What do you think is going
- 51:38Speaker 1: to happen? Do you think there's going to be a
- 51:42Speaker 1: habeas petition? I wonder. Which would just delay the December
- 51:53Speaker 1: 3rd date. But it's going to be interesting. By the way,
- 52:00Speaker 1: Nidal Hassan is... 56 years old, in case you're wondering,
- 52:11Speaker 1: and is in a wheelchair because he was paralyzed when
- 52:15Speaker 1: he was shot during his arrest. I know this is
- 52:19Speaker 1: some heavy stuff. We just went from the Steelers to
- 52:27Speaker 1: this very quickly. Unplanned, as it always is. Well, yeah.
- 52:39Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 52:40Speaker 1: A lot of stuff going on. Just checking the, and
- 52:49Speaker 1: I'm going to shift gears here, and we're going to
- 52:51Speaker 1: talk more about 20 stores in 20 days. A lot
- 52:55Speaker 1: of comments coming in here this morning. Keep them coming.
- 52:59Speaker 1: I'll read them all. Some I read on the air,
- 53:01Speaker 1: some I don't, just because I don't. But Keep them coming.
- 53:06Speaker 1: I want to see what you have to say. And
- 53:10Speaker 1: I'll tell you right now, sometimes folks drop comments and
- 53:14Speaker 1: I got to read it. I got to process it.
- 53:19Speaker 1: And sometimes I may take a day or two before
- 53:24Speaker 1: I get back on the air and read those comments
- 53:30Speaker 1: and give perspective, my perspective on those comments. So you
- 53:34Speaker 1: keep them coming. And maybe G and I will nibble
- 53:39Speaker 1: on this on Friday. Maybe we won't.
- 53:45Speaker 3: Sports.
- 53:46Speaker 1: And I know that Chris was talking about the Steelers
- 53:51Speaker 1: and about Aaron Rodgers. What are we? Week six, seven,
- 54:01Speaker 1: something like that for the NFL. A lot of stuff
- 54:05Speaker 1: going on. Patriots hosting the Jets in Foxborough on Sunday,
- 54:12Speaker 1: the 18th, and they're just alive right now. The Pats
- 54:15Speaker 1: are doing really well.
- 54:21Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 54:23Speaker 1: What do we have? The Rams and Bills in L.A.
- 54:28Speaker 1: Not sure if I've got a score on that yet.
- 54:32Speaker 1: Let's see. Yeah, I'm sure I do somewhere. Regular season
- 54:37Speaker 1: for the NBA is opening Tuesday, the 20th, opening night
- 54:48Speaker 1: on NBC. Celtics taking on the Pistons. That'll be 3 o'clock.
- 54:55Speaker 1: 76ers in the Knicks. Banner goes up at the MSG
- 55:01Speaker 1: at 7 p.m. Thunder and Spurs at nine 30. Um,
- 55:09Speaker 1: LeBron's in Philadelphia, but I'll tell you, um, Logan's got
- 55:13Speaker 1: a lot to talk about, a lot to talk about.
- 55:16Speaker 1: I hope he's going to be in on Thursday. We
- 55:19Speaker 1: got a preseason action tonight. Timberwolves beaten the Knicks one
- 55:23Speaker 1: 22 to one Oh four, uh, at the garden last night,
- 55:27Speaker 1: I should say. Um, Yeah, what is Taylor saying? 16
- 55:34Speaker 1: NHL games on tonight for all the hockey folks.
- 55:39Speaker 2: 16!
- 55:40Speaker 1: That's crazy. Yeah, but it's exciting. ALCS and the National
- 55:51Speaker 1: League Championship Series, both underway. If you're a baseball fan,
- 55:58Speaker 1: you're watching things carefully. Well, what do we have? Guardians,
- 56:09Speaker 1: Game 2, tonight with Tampa for the American League Championship Series.
- 56:23Speaker 1: Ray swept the Yankees in the American League Division Series.
- 56:27Speaker 1: That's part of the reason how they got there. But again,
- 56:31Speaker 1: Logan's going to break it down for you on Thursday.
- 56:35Speaker 1: I'm hoping that he'll be in, and I should know
- 56:37Speaker 1: real soon, and I'll let you know. We got... First
- 56:44Speaker 1: of all, it is Tuesday, which means that over at
- 56:47Speaker 1: the Capitol Theater in Montpelier, it's $ 5 movie night. And
- 56:53Speaker 1: we got some fantastic movies that are out. Skip the line.
- 56:59Speaker 1: Get on fgbtheaters.com for advance tickets. It's going to cost
- 57:04Speaker 1: you five bucks. Go tonight. Let's run down what's playing.
- 57:11Speaker 1: Aaron Sorkin's Social Network sequel, The Social Reckoning, is playing tonight.
- 57:17Speaker 1: We got Tom Cruise and Digger. Heart of the Beast,
- 57:22Speaker 1: the Brad Pitt flick. I haven't seen it. I've seen
- 57:25Speaker 1: the trailer. $ 7. 1 million, by the way, in the pocket
- 57:29Speaker 1: so far for Heart of the Beast. Looks like a
- 57:31Speaker 1: good movie. The DreamWorks animation flick Forgotten Island is out.
- 57:36Speaker 1: Practical Magic 2, saw it last night. Sherilyn thought it
- 57:44Speaker 1: was incredible. I wasn't a fan. Nicole Kidman looks good, though.
- 57:55Speaker 1: I'll say that. Has she ever looked bad? But yeah,
- 58:03Speaker 1: Practical Magic is playing tonight at the Cap. We got,
- 58:07Speaker 1: what's the other one? Verity, Ian Hathaway. Number two at
- 58:14Speaker 1: the box office, by the way, $ 11. 5 million. Avengers Endgame Encore,
- 58:21Speaker 1: the re-release. There's a lot of great films, man. And
- 58:25Speaker 1: then here at the Paramount, right here behind me, a
- 58:29Speaker 1: couple hundred yards down the road, maybe less at the
- 58:32Speaker 1: Paramount in Barrie. Other Mommy, which just, this horror flick
- 58:39Speaker 1: is just kicking it at the box office right now.
- 58:43Speaker 1: I'm not surprised at the time of year. $ 27. 5 million
- 58:47Speaker 1: opening weekend. Biggest thing out right now. Haven't seen it.
- 58:53Speaker 1: Resident Evil, just over 8 mil this past weekend. 138
- 59:01Speaker 1: million domestically so far. That's impressive. Haven't seen it. Looking
- 59:07Speaker 1: forward to Ghost Soldier, which is out. on Veterans Day. Ebenezer,
- 59:12Speaker 1: of course, with Johnny Depp. Sherilyn can't sleep in anticipation
- 59:19Speaker 1: of that. November 13th, it's out. Hataraba Bank, also out
- 59:23Speaker 1: on the 13th. Club Kid, November 6th. We got This
- 59:28Speaker 1: Coming Friday. Street Fighter. I've got to watch the trailer
- 59:34Speaker 1: on that. I almost clicked on it yesterday, but didn't.
- 59:37Speaker 1: But that's out Friday. What else? Clayface coming out end
- 59:44Speaker 1: of the month. The debut on December 11th. Avengers Doomsday
- 59:52Speaker 1: on the 18th of December. Same day as Dune, part three. Doomsday. Yeah,
- 1:00:02Speaker 1: and then there's some really big stuff coming out in 2027.
- 1:00:06Speaker 1: The Bluey movie, which is going to do well. Who
- 1:00:10Speaker 1: doesn't have something that's bluey today? Everywhere you go. Angry
- 1:00:17Speaker 1: Birds movie 3.
- 1:00:19Speaker 2: Wow.
- 1:00:21Speaker 1: Oh, Whale Fall. Forgot about that. Out on the 16th.
- 1:00:25Speaker 3: So, yeah.
- 1:00:29Speaker 1: I play Rocky. I mean, this November 6th. Some good stuff.
- 1:00:36Speaker 1: Hunger Games, I know.
- 1:00:38Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:00:39Speaker 1: Lots of great movies. FGBtheaters.com. Jimsville. And his haunted barn,
- 1:00:51Speaker 1: the poster is on the glass here. If you're walking
- 1:00:54Speaker 1: down the sidewalk or if you're driving by slowly enough,
- 1:00:57Speaker 1: you'll see the big ass poster. It's right here on
- 1:00:59Speaker 1: the glass. It opens Thursday night, this coming Thursday night.
- 1:01:05Speaker 1: I'm going to try, I'm going to try like hell
- 1:01:08Speaker 1: to carve out some time and run up there on
- 1:01:12Speaker 1: Thursday and things are crazy right now with the 20
- 1:01:15Speaker 1: stores in 20 days tour, but I'm going to run
- 1:01:16Speaker 1: up there on Thursday. At least that's my plan and
- 1:01:20Speaker 1: bring a camera with me and I'll bring both. If
- 1:01:24Speaker 1: I can live stream, if I've got enough, um, I'll
- 1:01:27Speaker 1: do it. And if I can't, I'll shoot it on
- 1:01:31Speaker 1: a GoPro and drop it for you as quickly as
- 1:01:34Speaker 1: possible afterwards. But yeah, it opens Thursday night and, um,
- 1:01:39Speaker 1: this is really something else what he's doing up there.
- 1:01:42Speaker 1: built by Vermonters built by your neighbors. This isn't just
- 1:01:48Speaker 1: a gym up there. That's doing this. This isn't some
- 1:01:52Speaker 1: out of state outfit. That's a come into town and
- 1:01:55Speaker 1: they're setting up a haunted, uh, display. This is something
- 1:02:00Speaker 1: that's really been building momentum for a very long time.
- 1:02:04Speaker 1: It is his favorite holiday. It's very obvious that it is.
- 1:02:08Speaker 1: And we encourage you to get up there. It's running, uh,
- 1:02:12Speaker 1: from the 15th through November 1st. And not only are
- 1:02:17Speaker 1: you going to be supporting future years for this to happen,
- 1:02:21Speaker 1: but you're also going to be supporting some great charity.
- 1:02:25Speaker 1: And I'm going to let Jim talk about that and
- 1:02:27Speaker 1: the why behind that, if I can throw a camera
- 1:02:31Speaker 1: in his face. But Community Volunteers put this whole thing together,
- 1:02:38Speaker 1: and it is just tremendous. It runs Thursday through Sunday.
- 1:02:42Speaker 1: From 5.30 until 9 o'clock. You will see, if you
- 1:02:48Speaker 1: haven't already, the ad for Jimsville's Haunted Barn. You're going
- 1:02:57Speaker 1: to see it on the Aired Out page. It's dropped
- 1:02:59Speaker 1: a few times, and it's going to be dropping more.
- 1:03:03Speaker 1: Through November 1st. Again, $ 12 I had to get in.
- 1:03:06Speaker 1: $ 25 for a family of four. It's at 1355 Route
- 1:03:13Speaker 1: 14 South in East Montpelier. I'll drop that in the
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: comments here. But I think most of you know, at
- 1:03:20Speaker 1: least the locals, where it is. You've seen it before.
- 1:03:24Speaker 1: Good to get a scare and support the folks who
- 1:03:28Speaker 1: built this. It's really impressive. And I'm so glad that
- 1:03:35Speaker 1: Jim has taken advantage. of Aired Out to help get
- 1:03:40Speaker 1: the word out there. And it's an absolute honor. So again, Thursday,
- 1:03:47Speaker 1: I'm going to try to get over there and take
- 1:03:51Speaker 1: you with me if you haven't had a chance to
- 1:03:54Speaker 1: see any of this. It's pretty cool. It's really cool.
- 1:03:59Speaker 1: What else? Talked about movies that are opening up. Some
- 1:04:05Speaker 1: amazing stuff. Again, Tuesday, It's raining. It's going to be
- 1:04:09Speaker 1: raining all day. And it's going to be raining tonight.
- 1:04:14Speaker 1: Get $ 10 together and go out on a date. $ 5.
- 1:04:19Speaker 1: $ 5 Tuesdays. The weather's perfect for it. And there's some
- 1:04:24Speaker 1: incredible movies that are out right now. There's something for
- 1:04:27Speaker 1: literally everybody. Also, when it comes to.
- 1:04:38Speaker 1: The community calendar, what's happening locally in central Vermont and beyond.
- 1:04:46Speaker 1: There is so much happening right now. There are so many,
- 1:04:50Speaker 1: and I talk about this all the time, so many
- 1:04:52Speaker 1: fall festivals, things that are just like popping hard everywhere.
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: It's almost impossible to keep track of all of it.
- 1:05:04Speaker 1: I'm doing the best I can while I'm running around
- 1:05:06Speaker 1: on this 20 stores in 20 days tour. But just
- 1:05:14Speaker 1: some really amazing things that are happening. This past weekend
- 1:05:20Speaker 1: was unreal. I was over at Miss Shannon's Fall Festival
- 1:05:23Speaker 1: in Corinth. I was over at the Corinth Fall Festival
- 1:05:27Speaker 1: on Sunday. It was just incredible. So much laughter. Everybody's hugging.
- 1:05:35Speaker 1: Everybody's enjoying the vendors. Eat great food. Listen to great music.
- 1:05:40Speaker 1: This is like the last hoorah for all of us
- 1:05:43Speaker 1: to get together before we all start hibernating. One of
- 1:05:48Speaker 1: the big events, Wheels for Warmth, is coming up. 22nd annual.
- 1:05:53Speaker 1: Started in 2005 by Phil Scott. Well, 21 actually held wheels.
- 1:06:00Speaker 1: because of it being suspended in 2020 because of COVID.
- 1:06:04Speaker 1: But Thursday, October 29th through Saturday, October 31st, Halloween. The
- 1:06:10Speaker 1: tire drop-offs are going to be the 29th and the 30th.
- 1:06:14Speaker 1: And then the big sale is going to be on
- 1:06:16Speaker 1: Saturday the 31st in Barrie and Pittsburgh. That's where the
- 1:06:21Speaker 1: sales are. $ 670, 000 raised so far. in the last 21
- 1:06:30Speaker 1: years for emergency heating assistance. Over 25,000 inspected used tires sold.
- 1:06:40Speaker 1: Over 50,000 tires recycled. It's really impressive. And this year,
- 1:06:47Speaker 1: all of the state's CAP agencies are participating for the
- 1:06:51Speaker 1: first time. We talked about this on the show on
- 1:06:55Speaker 1: October 8th with Allison Caldererra, the Capstone Executive Director, who
- 1:07:00Speaker 1: I appreciate so much coming in here. It's going to
- 1:07:02Speaker 1: be amazing. It really is. If you've got some old
- 1:07:05Speaker 1: tires in your garage or your barn that you need
- 1:07:08Speaker 1: to just get rid of, they're taking up space, this
- 1:07:11Speaker 1: is the time of year to do it. Or maybe
- 1:07:14Speaker 1: you're looking to get some new treads on your rig.
- 1:07:19Speaker 1: Carving for Kay. Had a nice chat yesterday with Ruthie Weeks,
- 1:07:25Speaker 1: who came in here, got the poster. on the glass,
- 1:07:28Speaker 1: right here on the sidewalk. When you're walking by, slow down,
- 1:07:32Speaker 1: have a look. But year number three for carving for Kay,
- 1:07:38Speaker 1: in honor of Kay Santamore, who we lost, well-loved in
- 1:07:43Speaker 1: our community. And this is what she dreamed of doing.
- 1:07:47Speaker 1: And time ran out for Kay. So we are doing
- 1:07:53Speaker 1: it for her and in her memory. This is a big,
- 1:07:57Speaker 1: big thing. I've got all of the details. And I'm
- 1:08:03Speaker 1: going to be talking about it a whole lot. But
- 1:08:07Speaker 1: it's coming up. And I'm going to try to help
- 1:08:11Speaker 1: out this event, Ruthie and Sarah, as much as I can.
- 1:08:16Speaker 1: I'm looking for pumpkin donations for this. I've got a truck.
- 1:08:24Speaker 1: I will come to you. If you've got pumpkins you
- 1:08:28Speaker 1: would like to donate, I will come, I will take them,
- 1:08:31Speaker 1: and I'm going to bring them, hopefully, to some local
- 1:08:38Speaker 1: scouts who can carve up these pumpkins. You don't want
- 1:08:41Speaker 1: to do it too soon because then they start rotting.
- 1:08:46Speaker 1: It's got to be close to the date. One of the...
- 1:08:55Speaker 1: I'll tell you, some kids that are going to be
- 1:08:56Speaker 1: carving up pumpkins, if I can get that is the
- 1:09:02Speaker 1: Waits River School. And I spoke with the principal there yesterday,
- 1:09:09Speaker 1: and she said, absolutely, we've got our school on board
- 1:09:15Speaker 1: on this, and we are ready to carve. Just get
- 1:09:19Speaker 1: us the pumpkins, JD. So I'm on it. I'm working
- 1:09:24Speaker 1: on this. It's going to be amazing. Please let me know.
- 1:09:29Speaker 1: Reach out to me if you've got some pumpkins that
- 1:09:32Speaker 1: you would like to donate, and I will get them
- 1:09:34Speaker 1: into the hands of kids at the Waits River School
- 1:09:38Speaker 1: that will turn pumpkins into jack-o'-lanterns for this. It's going
- 1:09:45Speaker 1: to be amazing. I cannot wait. I can't wait. And

- 1:11:22Speaker 1: Fight Promotions for pulling off such an incredible event on
- 1:11:31Speaker 1: Saturday night. I was blown away. I loved it. I
- 1:11:37Speaker 1: loved the entire experience. And for Donnybrook Fight Promotions to
- 1:11:45Speaker 1: pull off their 20th MMA fight is huge. What a
- 1:11:54Speaker 1: night for UFAI. And just a big congratulations to Donnybrook.
- 1:12:03Speaker 1: And big, big thanks to Liam and Ronnie and the
- 1:12:10Speaker 1: ISKA officials for keeping everything running smoothly. It was amazing.
- 1:12:18Speaker 1: The coaches, the teammates, the family, the friends, the fans,
- 1:12:24Speaker 1: all of the people that brought the energy and the
- 1:12:27Speaker 1: love to these fighters. Nobody gets to this point alone.
- 1:12:35Speaker 1: They have to have support. They have to have a
- 1:12:37Speaker 1: big team behind them. And Donnie Brooke Fight Promotions knows that.
- 1:12:44Speaker 1: And they are eternally grateful for so many people that
- 1:12:50Speaker 1: share their passion. Did you see that Eric Trapani? Oh
- 1:12:55Speaker 1: my God. Incredible. It was just, it was just electric
- 1:13:04Speaker 1: the whole night. So congratulations to every fighter who stepped
- 1:13:08Speaker 1: into the ring. Take the lessons, take, Take the experience
- 1:13:15Speaker 1: and keep building on that. And it was so cool
- 1:13:19Speaker 1: to see Rex get Resilient Defense Institute two young kids
- 1:13:29Speaker 1: into the ring and give them some spotlight time. That
- 1:13:36Speaker 1: was really cool. It is time for these fighters to
- 1:13:39Speaker 1: get back to work, to get in the gym again,
- 1:13:42Speaker 1: And to get ready for, what is it, January 23rd,
- 1:13:44Speaker 1: I think, is the next one. It's going to be
- 1:13:46Speaker 1: here soon. It's going to be amazing. I know, I've
- 1:13:51Speaker 1: said the word amazing a few times. One of the
- 1:13:58Speaker 1: things before I close out this morning, that actually, you
- 1:14:07Speaker 1: know what, I'm going to.
- 1:14:10Speaker 1: Being that I'm live here, I think I'm going to
- 1:14:12Speaker 1: hold off on this topic until Friday morning, um, because
- 1:14:19Speaker 1: it's a big one and yeah, there's something I'm going
- 1:14:27Speaker 1: to bring up. I may not even wait till Friday,
- 1:14:31Speaker 1: but it's, it's a big, big topic and it's, it's
- 1:14:35Speaker 1: super local. It's happening right here in our backyard. in Barry, Vermont,
- 1:14:41Speaker 1: and it's something that needs to be talked about. And
- 1:14:47Speaker 1: it's not the BOR. And it's not taxes, and it's
- 1:14:53Speaker 1: not politics. It's something much more concerning than that. And frankly,
- 1:15:03Speaker 1: it's something that has, in my opinion, been swept under
- 1:15:10Speaker 1: the rug. And I'll bring it up. I'll bring it up.
- 1:15:15Speaker 1: And I'm going to talk about it because clearly nobody
- 1:15:21Speaker 1: else is. And I may take some heat for it,
- 1:15:26Speaker 1: and that's okay. But I'm going to bring it up.
- 1:15:30Speaker 1: There's your teaser, I guess, for the rest of this week.
