- 0:00Hey everyone, and welcome back to Travel Tip Tuesday with the Travel Mug Podcast.
- 0:04So travel plans for 2026.
- 0:07They're being made.
- 0:07They're happening right now.
- 0:09And as I was considering this topic for Travel Tip Tuesday, I thought it is the perfect time to make the case on why you should want to travel to Canada.
- 0:18Canada, um, besides heated rivalry, , these are some, uh,, facts which, yes, it's Canadian.
- 0:25So these are some other facts, I guess I should say about traveling to and in Canada.
- 0:31In case you didn't know, Canada is the world's second largest country, meaning we have it all.
- 0:36We have Coastline, mountains, and everything in between.
- 0:39Canada is 9.985.
- 0:43Million kilometers squared.
- 0:46Like my brain can't even comprehend No, same.
- 0:50Yes.
- 0:50And we have 10 provinces and three territories and we promise you will find something to do that you will enjoy.
- 0:57We have people here from all over the world that speak many languages, and our official languages are French and English with the vast majority of the population speaking English.
- 1:06But of course, everyone is welcome regardless of whatever language you speak.
- 1:10Uh, Canada is so much more then it's major hubs of Montreal, Toronto, and Vancouver.
- 1:17They're fine.
- 1:18I mean, they're fine, good.
- 1:19They're even great.
- 1:21I mean, really.
- 1:23But have you considered Halifax, Nova Scotia or Jasper Alberta?
- 1:27We have so many nooks and crannies that are not to be missed, so expand your research, expand your mind.
- 1:34And we do have major airports all across the country ready to welcome you on both coasts and every place in between.
- 1:40Plus cross country trains.
- 1:42If you have more time for that type of Yeah, you, you need a lot of time though.
- 1:47You do.
- 1:48You do.
- 1:48Although we watched a video recently of the train from Toronto to Vancouver through the mountains and it was four days.
- 1:56That's still a lot of days it is, but if you make that like your vacation.
- 2:02I guess.
- 2:02Then you could make it happen.
- 2:04Anyway, it was a lovely video.
- 2:05Everyone should check that out.
- 2:07Now why should you visit Canada?
- 2:09Those are some facts, but you know why.
- 2:11So anything can happen anywhere.
- 2:14But for the most part, Canada is considered very safe.
- 2:17In 2025, we were rated the 14th safest country with low risk.
- 2:21Doesn't mean you won't see an angry moose.
- 2:24Um, or a bear during your travels, or someone who got the wrong order at Tim Horton's, that made them very upset.
- 2:30But rest assured, for the most part, you will be safe as long as you of course use common sense, which you should be doing no matter where you go.
- 2:37With Canada's size, there are so many places to visit depending on what you enjoy doing.
- 2:43So whether it is sports related, we have all the major sports in this country.
- 2:48Even football.
- 2:49Yes, ours is the Canadian Football League and not the NFL, but it does try really hard.
- 2:54, Maybe you enjoy being out in nature.
- 2:56Well, let me tell you, we have more nature than you could explore in an entire lifetime.
- 3:02We have cities with amazing food scenes and cultures.
- 3:05Of course, there's concerts and festivals all throughout the year.
- 3:08We truly do have it all.
- 3:11Speaking of having it all, we have more lakes in Canada than the rest of the world combined.
- 3:18I did not know that.
- 3:20I know, I know.
- 3:21We should also be frightened about that fact for future, for future reasons.
- 3:25But anyhow, but imagine the vacation you could have near water if that is your thing.
- 3:30And not to mention, we have also the world's longest coastline of 243,042 kilometers.
- 3:39about 151,000 miles.
- 3:42So fancy, uh, vacation by the ocean.
- 3:44We have you covered.
- 3:46Or the lake obviously.
- 3:48Canada is known for being, , very, polite and we also have a welcoming vibe.
- 3:53Nothing and nowhere is perfect and don't mistake politeness for weakness.
- 3:58but you can expect to find some of the world's friendliest people in Canada, especially on the East coast if you visit, which you should.
- 4:06And that includes Newfoundland, new Brunswick, prince, Edward Island, and Nova Scotia.
- 4:11And depending on where you are coming from, finally the exchange rate for your dollar is likely pretty good.
- 4:18Yes, Canada can be expensive.
- 4:20We do have uh, uh, some high taxes and things like that.
- 4:23But if you come from many parts of the world, including the United States.
- 4:27Europe or the UK as an example, the exchange rate will favor you and your money will go a lot further.
- 4:34Yes, yes.
- 4:36I could go on and on, but I encourage you to research for yourself, and I assure you, you will not be disappointed by a vacation in this beautiful country.
- 4:44This also goes for Canadians.
- 4:46See your own country, spend your dollars here and explore this beautiful land of ours.
- 4:50We should be so proud to be from this country.
- 4:53So Jenn, I'm gonna talk about mine in a second, but you have some Canadian travel plans this year, right?
- 4:58I do.
- 4:59Yeah, so we're planning to spend at least a week in Alberta in september, I'm hoping to explore Calgary, Banff, Jasper, and Canmore.
- 5:07If possible, I'd also like to squeeze in a weekend getaway or two, maybe Montreal, Quebec City or somewhere totally different.
- 5:16I'm not sure.
- 5:17Um, but lots of, uh, lots of Nova Scotia little mini trips too.
- 5:23What about you?
- 5:24What are you planning?
- 5:26Exactly, so probably lots of little trips here in Nova Scotia, maybe New Brunswick as well.
- 5:30Somehow we keep going back there.
- 5:32I do think we're hopefully, and nothing's in place yet, but spend some time in Toronto this summer.
- 5:37Maybe seeing some people, maybe seeing some ball games.
- 5:40And I personally am hoping to maybe travel to visit my sister in Calgary for a week, work from her place, and then spend the other time with her and my nieces.
- 5:50So I hope to do that in the fall, maybe September, around Oh, maybe know.
- 5:55take a plane together.
- 5:57For the first time, That would be crazy.
- 6:01uh, no, I know.
- 6:01So tourism in Canada was so strong in 2025, record breaking in a lot of respects.
- 6:06Let's make 2026 even better and show the world Canada is open for visitors.
- 6:11Welcome and bienvenue.
