- 0:27Hey everybody, good morning. How are you?
- 0:31We are in the garage because it's still raining anyway.
- 0:35OK, let's get to this. It's dark, rainy, cold.
- 0:39And I wanted to give you some food for thought today about
- 0:42actually how you put your stuff together for the year because
- 0:48there's some important aspects of this.
- 0:50And I was in a conversation with a friend of mine yesterday.
- 0:53And as we were debating the, the path of how you get people to do
- 0:59things and how you make things happen.
- 1:01One of the things that came up was, well, is it really
- 1:03necessary to write them all down And meaning putting your goals,
- 1:07your intentions, your outcomes on to a piece of paper.
- 1:11Well, I have some very strong beliefs about this because I
- 1:14think when you put pen to paper, pencil to paper, anything in
- 1:19front of you on paper, somehow for human beings, there is a mad
- 1:23connection. For us, it, it puts us into this
- 1:27very divine place. It's why we still, even though
- 1:31we have electronics, we still buy books.
- 1:34I mean, Amazon still sells tons of books.
- 1:37I have clients who will literally say to me, hey, I
- 1:40purchased the Kindle version of your book and I still purchased
- 1:44the paper version of it because there's something about the
- 1:46highlighter, there's something about being able to annotate.
- 1:49There's just these little things that connect us and when we sit
- 1:54and really like scribe things out, it changes the wiring for
- 1:58us. So I am a very firm believer of
- 2:02writing your thoughts and goals down.
- 2:05And I'm a very firm believer in doing this in places that feel
- 2:09sacred. I think when you know you have a
- 2:13specialized spot for it, something that you go to.
- 2:17And it's just about this. That's why having a book for a
- 2:20specific year can be empowering in a big way.
- 2:25You know, people get very unnerved about journaling
- 2:28because they think, well, what if somebody finds it?
- 2:30What if they see my inner thoughts?
- 2:32And I understand that. And I'm not saying, you know, we
- 2:35pretend we're like kids again and we go buy a locked journal.
- 2:39But what I am saying is those papers mean something to us.
- 2:42And somehow you have to find a way to choose to get past the
- 2:46fear of putting it on paper if you have it, or just even
- 2:49believing that it doesn't have an effect because it has a
- 2:52really profound effect. So how do I do it?
- 2:55Well, I have multiple ways that I do it.
- 2:58And I think what's important is to cover all aspects of it.
- 3:02So while I do vision boards and everyone knows about that, I'm a
- 3:05big believer in treasure maps, vision boards, changing it up.
- 3:09I like to write down my wins all the time so that I can see them
- 3:13all. And I know in a day I can prove
- 3:14to my certainty girl that I actually did a lot.
- 3:17And and then that makes her feel good if she knows she did a lot.
- 3:19So logging all of that is very important as well.
- 3:23But in the beginning of the year, I love to be able to sit
- 3:26down and actually have them all written out.
- 3:29Now, there are different ways I've tried this.
- 3:33I've tried it in a book that's just dedicated to it, but I feel
- 3:37that there's some disconnect for me.
- 3:39When I actually close the book, I feel like they're gone.
- 3:42I can't see them, so I love to be able to do something that
- 3:47makes it so I see them all the time.
- 3:50Now what I've tried as of late, which is very different and
- 3:54interesting, is to say I'm going to put them all on note cards
- 3:58that are big, like the six by I think they're 6 by 4 and inches.
- 4:04And those cards then rotate so each one of them has an outcome
- 4:09on it. And I have one of those little
- 4:11tiny stands that I got from the dollar store that's like a photo
- 4:14frame stand. It just looks like a little
- 4:15easel and then I rotate those and that sits out on my design
- 4:21table and when I go in every day, I take a card and I rotate
- 4:25it. So I am seeing them, I am
- 4:28engaged with them, I'm noticing them, I'm looking at them.
- 4:31I can keep one in the front if I choose to.
- 4:34And this is really felt good to me as of you know that I started
- 4:39doing it about four or five months ago and I really like
- 4:43doing it this way. I think that this is how as of
- 4:45course we are now at the end of the year and I'm getting ready
- 4:48because today, tomorrow is my day of saying, OK, actually it's
- 4:52tomorrow and the 1st I'm going to be really hunkering into
- 4:56outcomes and goals and I'm going to do this method because it
- 5:01feels to me like this one really works that way.
- 5:04I can also decorate them, I can put stickers on them, I can
- 5:08color them, I can watercolor on them.
- 5:10I can really make them feel divine.
- 5:12And that is the outcome for this.
- 5:14So I encourage you, paper, paper, paper, put stuff on
- 5:18paper. Make it so you can see it
- 5:20because then you remember it. If we cannot see something, we
- 5:25do not remember it. And that works through all
- 5:28aspects of our lives, not just this, but even marketing
- 5:31yourself. I'm constantly telling my
- 5:32clients, if you want loyalty, they have to see you.
- 5:36They have to be actually able to remember you.
- 5:41So you've got to go out there and look for it.
- 5:43Don't be mad. If your clients go somewhere
- 5:45else, it's because they didn't see you.
- 5:47So please, paper, pencil, ink, something, go do it.
- 5:53All right, my friends, I will see you tomorrow.
- 5:55Have a blessed day. Bye.
