- 0:45Grab a plate, tune in now,
- 0:47you part of the fam.
- 0:52It's lunch time!
- 0:56What's going on, everybody?
- 0:59I haven't re-recorded that, you know.
- 1:00I'm aware.
- 1:01I'm aware.
- 1:04I mean, live is different.
- 1:06Live is better, some would say.
- 1:07Some people like it recorded.
- 1:08Most people like it live.
- 1:10It's either live.
- 1:11Is it live or is it Memorex?
- 1:15Let me ask you this.
- 1:16If you go see Eric Clapton in concert,
- 1:19do you want to hear a recorded album
- 1:21or do you want to hear him sing?
- 1:22No, of course not.
- 1:24See, I'm just here for the people.
- 1:30As you are, as you do,
- 1:32as you do.
- 1:36We'll do it live.
- 1:39It is time to get jazzy.
- 1:43So with that,
- 1:52have I told you that I hate my
- 1:53job?
- 1:54You may have mentioned it at some point.
- 1:57Yeah.
- 1:59Do they make you read?
- 2:00It is a four day work week.
- 2:02It is a four day.
- 2:03It already feels like six.
- 2:06Did they make you read a book?
- 2:08Uh, no, not yet.
- 2:11Cause if they make me read a book,
- 2:12man, it may, we may come to blows.
- 2:16That's the last straw.
- 2:19Um,
- 2:21No,
- 2:21we got in today and our boss is
- 2:24meeting with the director and they needed
- 2:27all this data that none of us have
- 2:28ever used this system before.
- 2:30And we all had to go in and
- 2:31dive.
- 2:33And so we all had to download different
- 2:35spreadsheets for this meeting,
- 2:40send them to our boss.
- 2:42I know damn well every one of us
- 2:43in a different format of that spreadsheet.
- 2:47It'd be like getting out four different
- 2:49puzzle boxes,
- 2:51grabbing a few from each one,
- 2:54and make a pretty picture.
- 2:56Let's see what we can make with these.
- 2:59Yeah.
- 3:00And then after this today at one o'clock,
- 3:03I have a one o'clock, a one thirty,
- 3:06all the same people in both meetings.
- 3:08Why we couldn't just have one longer
- 3:10meeting.
- 3:13And then at two o'clock...
- 3:16And none of it freaking matters, man.
- 3:18None of it.
- 3:18I'm going to need you to stop making
- 3:20sense, Scott.
- 3:21It scares people.
- 3:23Yeah.
- 3:23So with that,
- 3:25I need my CrossFit stuff to like –
- 3:28and my entertainment stuff to like get me
- 3:30out of this.
- 3:32Well,
- 3:32we can start with the CrossFit stuff
- 3:34because – Well,
- 3:35I want to start with one other thing.
- 3:36All right.
- 3:38What you told me after the show yesterday
- 3:41has sent laughs throughout my friends and
- 3:45And my family.
- 3:46Okay.
- 3:47So, and if the people,
- 3:48for the people who don't know,
- 3:50after the show, Corey and I were chatting,
- 3:53you know, when you go to Chipotle,
- 3:56they upcharge you if you want some
- 3:59Avocado.
- 3:59The Avocado.
- 4:01Avocado is extra.
- 4:04Avocado.
- 4:04Avocado.
- 4:07They get some of that, man, turkey, Swiss,
- 4:11and throw some of that Avocado on there.
- 4:15Oh my gosh.
- 4:16The fact that people say that in that,
- 4:20and like you told me yesterday,
- 4:22you can never say it differently now.
- 4:24I can't hear it.
- 4:24I can't unhear it.
- 4:25Once you hear something like that,
- 4:26you're just like, yeah, it's a cockadoo.
- 4:28Why wouldn't it be?
- 4:30Yeah.
- 4:30And then I told you that back in
- 4:32the eighties, I was watching, um,
- 4:35love connection.
- 4:37Yeah.
- 4:37And a woman was complaining about the man
- 4:40she was on the date with, uh,
- 4:44saying he had no class.
- 4:45He goes, I had class.
- 4:47I brought aste spumate to the picnic.
- 4:52And now I cannot call it aste spumante.
- 4:55It is aste spumate for the rest of
- 4:58my life.
- 4:59Martini and Rossi, aste spumate.
- 5:03We've changed the theme song.
- 5:04Yeah.
- 5:08Look.
- 5:09Kind of like jalapenos.
- 5:10Jalapenos, baby.
- 5:13Don't miss some of them jalapenos on
- 5:14there.
- 5:14Don't act like you're going from the house
- 5:16either.
- 5:16I know that came from work.
- 5:19A-A-Ron.
- 5:21Andrew, I'm going to tell you right now,
- 5:22I don't know any more Aarons.
- 5:26Every Aaron I know we call A-A-Ron.
- 5:28It is A-A-Ron.
- 5:30When I write Aaron's name on the board
- 5:32at the gym,
- 5:33one of my best friends and another coach
- 5:36of ours, I don't write Aaron.
- 5:37I write A-A-Ron every time without fail.
- 5:47Worcestershire Worcestershire
- 5:49Worcestershire Worcestershire sauce I like
- 5:52that one Meg yeah there's a guy Meg
- 6:00there's a guy that I follow on YouTube
- 6:03who is a cook and he he's either
- 6:06I think he's definitely southern
- 6:08He may be Louisiana, I'm not sure.
- 6:10But he made his own line of like
- 6:12hot sauces.
- 6:14He made his own Worcestershire sauce,
- 6:16but he calls it Worcestershire sister.
- 6:18Worcestershire sauce.
- 6:19I love it.
- 6:24Welcome to the Clydesdale and Cowboys.
- 6:27Clydesdale.
- 6:30Dolly.
- 6:32Jay Quellen.
- 6:33Everybody knows Jay Quellen.
- 6:34Everybody knows Jay Quellen.
- 6:38Oh.
- 6:44Meg,
- 6:44if you say that in front of me,
- 6:46you're getting cold food.
- 6:49She's going to say it in front of
- 6:50you.
- 6:50Yeah.
- 6:51I just don't know if you ever met
- 6:52Megan,
- 6:53but she's going to say it in front
- 6:54of you, bro.
- 6:56Cream brulee,
- 6:57I've heard pronounced creamy brulee.
- 6:59Let me get some of that creamy brulee.
- 7:04tiramisu like i like tiramisu it's my
- 7:08favorite italian dessert uh meg doesn't
- 7:12mind cold food she likes she likes the
- 7:14cold hard stare down she's better than she
- 7:19likes warm food she is a vet she's
- 7:22a veteran we have eaten many many much
- 7:25cold food over time trust me she knows
- 7:28all about cold food it's not that big
- 7:30a deal
- 7:34So six minutes in,
- 7:35and on a side tangent,
- 7:36this is how the show is going to
- 7:37go.
- 7:38Listen, Ed, we have a daily show.
- 7:44We talk about whatever is on our mind
- 7:47for two reasons.
- 7:48One, it breaks the monotony.
- 7:51Two,
- 7:52what if something happened to CrossFit and
- 7:55we had to go away?
- 7:56I don't want to go away.
- 7:58I want to be here.
- 8:00And so we'll just make it a show
- 8:02about mispronouncing everything.
- 8:03I don't know, but we're going to,
- 8:05we're going to have some other things in
- 8:06the, in the hopper, in the hopper,
- 8:08you say.
- 8:10I'm going to ask you why we want
- 8:11that subject real quick.
- 8:12It's like,
- 8:12this is just how my brain works.
- 8:14It is.
- 8:17This is just how my brain works.
- 8:19And you like squirrel.
- 8:21Oh shit.
- 8:22A squirrel.
- 8:23Yeah.
- 8:24And I,
- 8:24we just go off on a tangent for
- 8:26two hours.
- 8:26It's really not that big a deal.
- 8:29Uh, Vicki, best part of the show.
- 8:32Uh, Mark Phillips, wait,
- 8:34there are pre-planned topics.
- 8:36Yeah, exactly.
- 8:37Uh,
- 8:38there are a couple of chicken scratches
- 8:39just in case we need something to dive
- 8:41into.
- 8:45Uh, man, if CrossFit vanished,
- 8:46I would disappear from the internet so
- 8:48fast.
- 8:50Tristan, you can come hang with us.
- 8:52Tristan would be that, uh, that,
- 8:55that gif of Homer,
- 8:56like stepping back into the bushes.
- 8:59just slowly fading out of sight.
- 9:05Technically, Peanut Roaster, but yes,
- 9:07Hopper.
- 9:09Yeah.
- 9:13Another athlete at LATAM dislocated their
- 9:15shoulder.
- 9:16No one available at medical to help.
- 9:18The athlete had to pop it back in
- 9:19themselves.
- 9:21Hello, Mel Gibson, Lethal Weapon, too.
- 9:25Medical is a joke at semifinals.
- 9:28That is...
- 9:30That is appalling.
- 9:32At a minimum,
- 9:34that is the staff that needs to be
- 9:36filled first at a CrossFit event.
- 9:40I am so blessed, lucky, whatever.
- 9:43I have never needed medical at any
- 9:45competition I've ever been to.
- 9:48I probably shouldn't say that out loud
- 9:50because I'm going to Monster Games next
- 9:52month,
- 9:52but I cannot fathom
- 9:57throwing my shoulder out of place and then
- 9:59nobody there to help me to do something.
- 10:02Cause I don't never throw my shoulder out
- 10:04of place.
- 10:05I would not want to know what to
- 10:06do aside from my random movie knowledge
- 10:08that I'm sure is real medically accurate
- 10:11about getting it back into place.
- 10:12I need to just whack it against the
- 10:14wall.
- 10:14Like Mel Gibson.
- 10:16I need a file cabinet.
- 10:18That's pretty heavy and pretty full that I
- 10:19can slam this against.
- 10:20You got one handy.
- 10:21Is that cool?
- 10:24I played football with a guy who
- 10:26dislocated his shoulder all the time.
- 10:28And because of that,
- 10:29like he did kind of know how to
- 10:31pop it back in,
- 10:33but it's because he had been through that
- 10:35over and over and over again.
- 10:37If it's a new thing,
- 10:38there's no way you'd know.
- 10:41Again, aside from my, my, my, my, my,
- 10:44my, my, my, my, my, my, my, my,
- 10:46my, my, my, my, my, my, my, my,
- 10:47my, my, my, my, my, my, my, my,
- 10:49my, my, my,
- 10:53I've popped my shoulder back in a couple
- 10:55times.
- 10:55A pull-up bar is very helpful.
- 11:00You know what I'd be doing?
- 11:02I'd be laying in a heap, crying, yelling,
- 11:05Shanna!
- 11:09What's wrong?
- 11:10I don't know.
- 11:14But it hurts a lot.
- 11:15My arm ain't supposed to go that
- 11:17direction.
- 11:18Yeah, this does not seem right at all.
- 11:20And I'm going to need some help.
- 11:26I actually do like this idea.
- 11:27We need a peanut roaster filled with
- 11:29random topics just to roll and pick.
- 11:32Can we just get some roasted peanuts?
- 11:33I'd be good with that.
- 11:34I'm a big fan of roasted peanuts.
- 11:37There's nothing like a roasted peanut.
- 11:39In the shell,
- 11:40popping it in the summertime.
- 11:43and if you go to the right covid
- 11:45you could do that at restaurants now like
- 11:47that's hard to find i was about to
- 11:48say if you go to the right chain
- 11:50steakhouse you can just you can just throw
- 11:52the shelves on the floor just texas
- 11:54roadhouse baby all day long anyway now
- 11:59these you can just grab and throw in
- 12:01the garbage that's where they oh dude you
- 12:04never had good ones then
- 12:06Dude, I lived in the South.
- 12:09I got them on I-Ten.
- 12:11I got them on I-Ten.
- 12:12A guy's sitting out there making them.
- 12:14I-Ten runs from the Santa Monica Pier all
- 12:18the way to Florida.
- 12:20I don't want to hear you got them
- 12:21on I-Ten.
- 12:22That could be anywhere in a number of
- 12:23places.
- 12:26I probably bought them from Tallahassee to
- 12:28Jacksonville and Tallahassee to Pensacola.
- 12:30Okay.
- 12:30Somewhere in that area.
- 12:34Maybe you should come to Louisiana and get
- 12:35you some real boiled peanuts.
- 12:37Jesus Christ.
- 12:39They're good.
- 12:40They're way better than people give them
- 12:43credit for.
- 12:43It took me a long time before I
- 12:44was like, a boiled peanut?
- 12:46Are you out of your mind?
- 12:48And then my brother-in-law made some,
- 12:49and then I made some.
- 12:51The only thing good about boiled peanuts
- 12:53is the salt water.
- 12:55You know,
- 12:56you just got to drink the salt water.
- 12:57Yeah,
- 12:58I might as well because the peanuts soggy
- 12:59as hell.
- 13:02Again, I'm not saying they're not soggy.
- 13:04The shell is going to get that way,
- 13:05but you got to season them right and
- 13:06they come out real good.
- 13:10I'll tell you, I mean,
- 13:11I've had my share.
- 13:12I kept trying them and it is just
- 13:14not good.
- 13:15Thank you, Hexy Lover.
- 13:17I have family Mississippi and boiled
- 13:18peanuts are slimy, disgusting, yuck.
- 13:21again you're in mississippi you're missing
- 13:24the point come over one state uh moss
- 13:30point exit off i-ten usually has decent
- 13:33ones thank you mark phillips all right
- 13:39that's the hopper now now that we got
- 13:41now that we got through the cooking
- 13:42portion of our show
- 13:50Cracking myself up.
- 13:53The Hopper was announced yesterday.
- 13:56The Hopper, not Jason Hopper.
- 13:58Correct.
- 14:00The old peanut roaster has been oiled up,
- 14:07kept that nice patina look,
- 14:09looking real clean,
- 14:12but it's ready to get some balls.
- 14:14Okay.
- 14:20Oh,
- 14:20I'm not mature enough for this part of
- 14:21the conversation.
- 14:23Yes.
- 14:24Hoping to get some balls inserted into it.
- 14:28Yeah.
- 14:29And what was funny is the minute it
- 14:31came out, like all the discussion,
- 14:34how's it going to be?
- 14:34Is it going to be curated?
- 14:36Is it going to be like made sure
- 14:38that it fits with everything else?
- 14:40And,
- 14:41and then Dave called into the Savant show
- 14:43last night and basically answered all
- 14:45those questions with a resounding part.
- 14:49With a resounding no,
- 14:51it will not be curated.
- 14:53Good.
- 14:54We don't care if you just finish thrusters
- 14:57and thrusters comes out of the hopper.
- 15:00Sorry, not sorry.
- 15:02With with with twenty events it should
- 15:09still be well rounded enough that whatever
- 15:12comes out of that hopper should be done.
- 15:17Now they're going to pull it at
- 15:19in the morning there will be like six
- 15:22hours yeah to make the workout and dave
- 15:25also said that he has a plan that
- 15:28there will be a special someone that does
- 15:31that workout rich from the the the popular
- 15:40thought at this point is greg glassman
- 15:44that greg does the workout
- 15:46No,
- 15:47Greg creates the workout from the
- 15:51movements that are pulled.
- 15:52Gotcha.
- 15:53Yeah, no, that makes a lot more sense.
- 15:54Yeah, and as Savant said,
- 15:56if Greg makes it,
- 15:57y'all are going to be fucked.
- 15:58That was pretty much his exact words.
- 16:02I think it's great.
- 16:03I think it's fantastic.
- 16:04I really, really do bring it back.
- 16:08What I think would be cool,
- 16:10and you could tell from Dave's
- 16:11conversation last night that it's not all
- 16:14been ironed out at this point, right?
- 16:16Sure.
- 16:16The idea is there.
- 16:20It is there for its randomness, right?
- 16:23I think that the crowd or the community
- 16:28should pick whether it's a couplet,
- 16:30a triplet, or a chipper.
- 16:31I like that.
- 16:35And based on whatever they pick...
- 16:38That's how many balls come out of the
- 16:40hopper.
- 16:40I like that.
- 16:42Like they did when they, uh,
- 16:43when they got to vote on heavy day
- 16:46DT or double DT.
- 16:48Yeah.
- 16:50That was good stuff, dude.
- 16:51I watched that one again the other day
- 16:52too.
- 16:53It was funny just watching them,
- 16:54like watching athletes come off and people
- 16:57are interviewing, like, what do you think?
- 16:58What do you want to do?
- 17:00People are like, let's go heavy.
- 17:02Let's go.
- 17:03And then like when they voted heavy,
- 17:05everybody was like,
- 17:06okay, it's heavy.
- 17:10And then Dan Bailey saying,
- 17:12if we'd have done double DT,
- 17:13that'd have been really bad.
- 17:14That'd have been really, really,
- 17:17really bad.
- 17:18But yeah, that was, of course,
- 17:20they're still going to be complaining
- 17:21about it.
- 17:24Grant says,
- 17:25I wouldn't trust Glassman making a workout
- 17:27anymore.
- 17:28I don't understand that comment at all,
- 17:30Greg, or Grant,
- 17:31because Greg's made a thousand workouts.
- 17:35Probably more than that.
- 17:36You don't have to follow who's doing what,
- 17:38where they're at.
- 17:39You're just putting together a workout.
- 17:42That's it.
- 17:43Now,
- 17:44I am sure that Greg would get help
- 17:46with time caps,
- 17:48those types of things that he does not
- 17:51follow,
- 17:51but he can put together a freaking
- 17:53workout.
- 17:54Yeah.
- 17:55Probably better than ninety nine point
- 17:59nine percent of the population.
- 18:03It's not on the spot, Grant.
- 18:05It's over six or seven hours, dude.
- 18:08They're going to pull from the hopper in
- 18:09the morning and the workout's going to be
- 18:10that evening.
- 18:11It's not going to be on the spot.
- 18:12It's going to be, oh, right now,
- 18:13let's go.
- 18:15Which is great because the athletes know
- 18:18what is in the workout,
- 18:20but they don't know what the workout is
- 18:22until it's revealed later in the day.
- 18:25Yeah.
- 18:26That's a whole thing, dude.
- 18:28I'm excited.
- 18:31I don't think it'd be trash, Tristan.
- 18:33I really, really don't.
- 18:34Tristan's worried about if a program is
- 18:36trash, it'll kind of ruin the whole thing.
- 18:37Tristan,
- 18:37I thought you used to be a positive
- 18:39guy.
- 18:42He was until we put the idea of
- 18:44CrossFit fading away and him having to
- 18:45fade away into nothingness of the
- 18:47internet.
- 18:50It's one workout out of twenty.
- 18:52Right.
- 18:53Right.
- 18:54And if it ends up being,
- 18:57it's such an interesting argument to me
- 18:59because like I had one of my athletes
- 19:02last week,
- 19:04she's been dealing with some back stuff
- 19:06and she was like,
- 19:08we had a hand cleans,
- 19:11I believe it was,
- 19:12or she was doing hand cleans,
- 19:13power cleans.
- 19:14She was going to do hand cleans just
- 19:15so she had to hinge all the way
- 19:16down and get her back up.
- 19:18And she put on the weight and she
- 19:19was like,
- 19:21I think it's too light.
- 19:22And I said, go faster.
- 19:25Right.
- 19:26And this is the same thing kind of
- 19:27thing.
- 19:27And I'm thinking about as far as like,
- 19:28whatever comes out of the hopper,
- 19:30whatever they put it up.
- 19:31Oh, if you think it,
- 19:32if you don't think it's so great, cool,
- 19:34go faster.
- 19:37It's real easy.
- 19:38What would you rather do Fran at ninety
- 19:39five pounds or Fran at seventy five
- 19:41pounds?
- 19:41I'm going to tell you right now,
- 19:42I'm going to take ninety five all day,
- 19:44every day,
- 19:45because I know how fast I can go
- 19:46in seventy five and it would hurt a
- 19:48lot more.
- 19:51A whole lot more.
- 19:53There's a comment about Grant,
- 19:54and that's not the part I want to...
- 19:56His response is,
- 19:59not to be influenced by some ideas that
- 20:01don't need to be dogma.
- 20:03This is the twentieth celebration of the
- 20:05CrossFit Games.
- 20:07The twentieth celebration.
- 20:10Dogma is involved in the celebration.
- 20:13If you're looking back at your past to
- 20:15celebrate it...
- 20:17you should bring back some of the iconic
- 20:20pieces of those twenty years.
- 20:23That's when you celebrate the dogma.
- 20:28Absolutely.
- 20:29One hundred percent.
- 20:31I want to see rescue Randy.
- 20:33I want to see two stroke pool.
- 20:35I want to see a strong man's fear
- 20:39or some version of those things.
- 20:41It doesn't have to be necessarily be that
- 20:44exact specific workout because some of
- 20:46that stuff's kind of old.
- 20:48The loading may be a little bit different
- 20:49or whatnot.
- 20:50You know,
- 20:50the deadlift ladder after the trail run
- 20:52type stuff would bring that stuff had to
- 20:55pound rebar again.
- 20:58I want to see some homage to the
- 21:01past.
- 21:01I don't want it all to be that.
- 21:03No, no, no.
- 21:04But that's what I'm getting at.
- 21:06Have some version of these iconic things
- 21:08that you can picture in your brain.
- 21:12The sprints all the way down the field.
- 21:16Those images on what we talked about the
- 21:19other day.
- 21:19Dan Bailey bobbling his glasses and
- 21:21catching it as he's hurtling over the
- 21:24hurdles.
- 21:25That stuff is burning my brain forever.
- 21:30Matt Fraser racing the professor across
- 21:33the line and like diving across the line
- 21:35and still didn't beat him and falling down
- 21:37off the edge of the thing because of
- 21:38strong man's fear.
- 21:40That's burned into my brain forever.
- 21:43The flipping the pig going down the field,
- 21:47like all of that kind of stuff is,
- 21:49because it's iconic, right?
- 21:50You saw it for the first time and
- 21:51you're like, holy smokes, that is so cool.
- 21:55So as far as the rest of the
- 21:57events are concerned, I want to see,
- 21:59again, I'm with you.
- 22:00It doesn't need to be the exact workout.
- 22:04Excuse me.
- 22:04But stuff like that, yeah,
- 22:06we want to see that.
- 22:06I want to see that for damn sure.
- 22:11One,
- 22:11we've already been promised more outdoor
- 22:13games, which is going to make it better.
- 22:15Absolutely.
- 22:16Absolutely.
- 22:17We're getting back to the roots of what
- 22:19CrossFit is and the game should be.
- 22:21Yep.
- 22:23Two, we are getting away from the hopper,
- 22:25Tristan,
- 22:25so I want to get back to it
- 22:26for one second.
- 22:28Dave did say the only limiting factor to
- 22:31what goes in the hopper would be equipment
- 22:35and what's available to them in that
- 22:37evening.
- 22:38And the example he used is if there's
- 22:41no pegboard glass up on the rig,
- 22:44they're not putting pegboards in the
- 22:45hopper.
- 22:45Right.
- 22:47Right.
- 22:48Someone brought up swimming.
- 22:50You're not going to bus everybody to a
- 22:52swimming pool in the middle of this.
- 22:55Have a swim pool on standby.
- 22:57Yeah.
- 22:58Because you're not going to pay the rent
- 22:59to have it on standby to go to
- 23:01a pool.
- 23:03Right.
- 23:05Right.
- 23:06And I don't think of swimming being like
- 23:09a thruster.
- 23:10Does that make sense?
- 23:11Like it's not a swimming is not a
- 23:13swim is not a snatch.
- 23:15That's not the same type deal.
- 23:17But you could put a run in there
- 23:19and run out onto Barack Obama.
- 23:20Here we go.
- 23:23I'm never going to let that go.
- 23:25I'm never going to let that go just
- 23:26because of the way Dave kept saying it.
- 23:27We could just do this right here on
- 23:29Barack Obama.
- 23:30When he said in that conversation last
- 23:31night,
- 23:32there will be a lot done on Barack
- 23:34Obama for both teams and individuals.
- 23:39I think it tickles him to say it
- 23:41as well.
- 23:41I really, really do.
- 23:42It has to because he wouldn't just keep
- 23:43saying it.
- 23:44I think now he's poking.
- 23:47Yeah, a hundred percent.
- 23:48Right.
- 23:49But what it says is there's going to
- 23:50be more stuff outside than just the
- 23:54Wednesday.
- 23:55Correct.
- 23:55And there's going to be more stuff on
- 23:56Barack Obama.
- 23:58Correct.
- 24:00Correct.
- 24:02It's fantastic.
- 24:03So I think, I think that's awesome.
- 24:08Yeah, no, a hundred percent.
- 24:10I am, I am with it.
- 24:13Absolutely with it.
- 24:15So let me put out.
- 24:16So they were going through some of the
- 24:18workouts that were done at the one place
- 24:23that was announced earlier this week.
- 24:26Not the big red barn.
- 24:29And all I can think of is with
- 24:30Clifford the Big Red Dog.
- 24:33Every time they say Big Red Born,
- 24:34I hear Big Red Dog.
- 24:36Yeah.
- 24:37Morgan Hill.
- 24:39Morgan Hill.
- 24:40They were listing some of the events that
- 24:42were there.
- 24:42And the swim event was there.
- 24:44The bike repeater workout was there.
- 24:48The handstand walk where they had to go
- 24:52one distance and another distance.
- 24:54Yeah.
- 24:55Then the snatch ladder was there.
- 24:57And the CrossFit total.
- 24:58Yep.
- 25:02Of those events,
- 25:03if you could pick one you want to
- 25:06see again, which would it be?
- 25:08The handstand walk.
- 25:09The handstand walk, yeah.
- 25:13Just because it was a flat-out race.
- 25:15And, like, Justin Medeiros did it, what,
- 25:17five yards at a time?
- 25:19Like, kicked up, kicked down, kicked up,
- 25:21kicked down, kicked up, kicked down.
- 25:22I just thought that was exciting.
- 25:23I like handstand walking as well.
- 25:25I would say that or maybe the bike
- 25:27repeater.
- 25:28That was pretty fun, too.
- 25:31For me,
- 25:32it's between bike repeater or that swim
- 25:34event.
- 25:35The swim was fun.
- 25:37I loved that you add a bike,
- 25:39you add a D-ball clean.
- 25:41It was slam balls.
- 25:43Yeah.
- 25:44Which I had not seen before or since.
- 25:48And you had to do it one way,
- 25:50and when you came back the other way,
- 25:51you had to do it in reverse.
- 25:53Yeah.
- 25:54I thought...
- 25:55I thought that was probably the most fun
- 25:57swim event I've seen in CrossFit history.
- 26:02Yeah, that was pretty cool.
- 26:04And you got to see who had real
- 26:06swim technique because it was in a pool.
- 26:09Well,
- 26:09you got to see who had real swim
- 26:10technique.
- 26:11I just watch people swim.
- 26:11It's different to us.
- 26:17So I really love those two events.
- 26:21We've seen snatch ladders done a lot of
- 26:23different places.
- 26:24We've seen handstand stuff done other
- 26:26places.
- 26:27I get what you're saying.
- 26:28Other than that,
- 26:29we've never had a straight handstand
- 26:33sprint.
- 26:34Yeah.
- 26:37Sleds always result in some kind of
- 26:42controversy.
- 26:44Controversy.
- 26:45Controversy.
- 26:47Contraversy.
- 26:48Contraversy.
- 26:51I will say this about a snatch ladder
- 26:53is that I still get excited watching the
- 26:57old documentaries for the snatch speed
- 26:59ladder and like the clean speed ladder.
- 27:02Those were fun to watch because you got
- 27:06to run heats.
- 27:07Everybody's got to go and you got to
- 27:08go again.
- 27:08They got to go again.
- 27:09The weights go up and all that stuff
- 27:10as people get eliminated.
- 27:12Those are fun.
- 27:13We haven't seen that in quite some time.
- 27:15They've done one rep maxes and blah, blah,
- 27:17blah.
- 27:18And they've done like some, a little bit,
- 27:19but not like, you know, six lanes wide,
- 27:23eight lanes wide, whatever it was.
- 27:26And John Parra just walking in between
- 27:28bars and, and then walking, you know.
- 27:32Easy Muhammad knocking himself out.
- 27:33Easy Muhammad knocking himself out,
- 27:35getting up and finishing the ladder.
- 27:38Yep.
- 27:39Easy.
- 27:39If you're watching this, that was amazing.
- 27:43also um handstand walk elimination race
- 27:45would be cool here's my question though
- 27:47you've got twenty events in four days
- 27:51there's going to be a compressed time sure
- 27:54i think that almost eliminates things with
- 27:58multiple rounds of heats i don't know
- 28:03because when was the last time you watched
- 28:06an event and rogue does one every year
- 28:09where the wait time between rounds isn't
- 28:14way too long yeah even the uh the
- 28:19last sprint intervals that we did
- 28:23where a couple people got eliminated for
- 28:25stepping on the lines and stuff like that.
- 28:27That seemed like it took a really long
- 28:28time.
- 28:28Yeah, because you have the time,
- 28:32then you assess the penalties,
- 28:34then you got to rework the board.
- 28:36Then it's like they've not come up with...
- 28:42Rogue, I think finally this last year,
- 28:44made it so simple that appeals and
- 28:49penalties weren't even a factor.
- 28:52Yeah, when they had to put the...
- 28:54The over-under over, the sled pull,
- 28:58and then the weight on the pistol.
- 28:59Yeah, that was fun to watch.
- 29:00That was exciting to watch.
- 29:03So they have just made it so simple
- 29:05that appeals and penalties aren't a
- 29:08factor,
- 29:09and then they can move on to the
- 29:11next round much quicker.
- 29:19And with that,
- 29:20I'll bring up Jacob's comment.
- 29:22Snatch medley would be sick.
- 29:24Snatch ladder, then max snatch,
- 29:26then max snatch reps in three minutes.
- 29:30That's a lot of repetitive movement.
- 29:34I think you're opening yourself up to
- 29:38injury.
- 29:40It's a lot.
- 29:41It would be a lot.
- 29:44Gesundheit.
- 29:44Gesundheit.
- 29:46Gesundheit.
- 29:50I always wanted to see beep test basically
- 29:52a last man standing event.
- 29:54Only issue is that it punishes the more
- 29:56fit athlete.
- 29:58It's akin to doing an AMRAP.
- 30:01And I don't think Dave would ever use
- 30:03a Ben Bergeron test in the games.
- 30:08Negative.
- 30:09That ain't happening.
- 30:10Never.
- 30:12Not ever.
- 30:14The closest thing we've come to having
- 30:15something like that was when they did
- 30:16Mary.
- 30:18That wasn't a beep test,
- 30:19but it was an AMRAP for twenty minutes,
- 30:22and, like, that got,
- 30:24I don't want to say exciting at the
- 30:26end, but that was a lot.
- 30:28That was a whole lot.
- 30:30Yeah.
- 30:32Yeah.
- 30:34That was fun to watch, though.
- 30:36The way the floor was set up was
- 30:37really well done.
- 30:39Yeah, you finished,
- 30:40you got so many rounds on this side,
- 30:41and you just went and switched sides to
- 30:42the other side and gave you a little
- 30:43bit of time to kind of shake it
- 30:45out a little bit, and then watching, uh,
- 30:49what's her name do all her push-ups strict
- 30:52carrie pierce carrie pierce yeah do all
- 30:54her handstand push-ups strict which was
- 30:56absolutely that was insane she's just uh
- 31:04jacob says i do not think it punishes
- 31:05them it makes them work to their same
- 31:07maximum capacity and it makes them earn
- 31:09their w i disagree now when you're talking
- 31:14about a long weekend with
- 31:17any extra volume that you are taking on
- 31:19with your body is punishing.
- 31:23Big time.
- 31:25You don't ever want to do something like
- 31:27that.
- 31:32It's not a bad test to do if
- 31:34you're in a class setting or if you
- 31:36are
- 31:38I would say maybe even with a local
- 31:41comp doing a three-event,
- 31:43one-day type deal,
- 31:45and it's like the last event that you
- 31:46do,
- 31:46last man standing gets the hundred points,
- 31:48sure.
- 31:49But at the games, no,
- 31:51not a big deal.
- 31:54You know what's really important when you
- 31:55have twenty events over four days is
- 31:58getting good recovery.
- 32:01I would agree.
- 32:02And you could do that by getting good
- 32:03sleep and recovery using the best recovery
- 32:07product on the market, Thirdsy.
- 32:10And you can do that and get fifteen
- 32:12percent off by using code Jazzy at
- 32:15checkout.
- 32:16That's Thirdsy.com backslash Jazzy.
- 32:20Get you fifteen percent off your order.
- 32:22Just tell them the Clydesdale Cowboys sent
- 32:24you.
- 32:30Sleepy, sleep, sleep, sleep.
- 32:32Carolyn's in a fighting mood this week.
- 32:34Here we go.
- 32:36What's the difference between that and
- 32:37someone getting capped and not getting the
- 32:38same volume?
- 32:41The difference between, in my opinion, Ms.
- 32:43Carolyn, don't stab me.
- 32:47Not that you would stab me, but anyway,
- 32:49is that the difference is the intensity
- 32:51level at that point.
- 32:51Because if you are capable of going the
- 32:54entire time and beating everybody,
- 32:55you are putting out more work than
- 32:57everybody else is.
- 32:58If you are not fit enough and you
- 32:59get capped,
- 33:00that's a whole different animal at that
- 33:02point.
- 33:03um because i am putting out more more
- 33:05energy the entire time trying to stay
- 33:08ahead everybody else and not get
- 33:09eliminated in a beep test as opposed to
- 33:12i'm doing what i can and i just
- 33:13get capped because the time that time
- 33:15limit runs out the beep test runs until
- 33:16somebody until everybody the one person's
- 33:19left standing
- 33:21whatever that ends up looking like.
- 33:23And you're dealing with thirty freaking of
- 33:27the fittest people on the planet.
- 33:28First of all, that could take a while.
- 33:30Secondly, nobody wants to lose.
- 33:32Nobody wants to stop.
- 33:34They're going to go until they drop.
- 33:38Yeah.
- 33:39Ever since the eyelash incident,
- 33:40Carolyn's a little feisty.
- 33:49So, yeah.
- 33:51I think it's cool.
- 33:52I think it's cool they bring the hopper
- 33:53back.
- 33:55I'll be honest, I didn't think they would.
- 33:58No, I didn't.
- 33:59But I will say this, too, though.
- 34:01I didn't think they would,
- 34:02and I'm glad they're doing it in this
- 34:05format, if that makes sense.
- 34:07Like,
- 34:07we're going to pick it out in the
- 34:08morning, let everybody know what they got.
- 34:11By this evening,
- 34:11we will have a workout for everybody,
- 34:14and that's what we're doing.
- 34:16and it doesn't matter if like you said
- 34:18like we just did thrusters and pull-ups
- 34:20cool we're doing them again this evening
- 34:23have fun everybody yep um i really thought
- 34:30that they would want so much control over
- 34:32the entire programming that they would
- 34:35never go back to something so random but
- 34:39after the explanation from dave last night
- 34:43it makes sense
- 34:45They are going to truly test the unknown
- 34:47and the unknowable.
- 34:49I like it.
- 34:49Randomly pull however many balls.
- 34:53You don't know the workout until later
- 34:55that night.
- 34:56Here you go.
- 35:02I like it.
- 35:08Anyway.
- 35:10Moving right along.
- 35:13There's still a difference in volume done
- 35:16in both cases.
- 35:17Someone who is less fit is also going
- 35:19to their max likely and just has that
- 35:22capacity.
- 35:23I think as long as it's not significant
- 35:25amount of more.
- 35:28The problem with doing something like the
- 35:30beep test is that there's going to be
- 35:31a significant amount of more.
- 35:33and you're gonna have wider variations.
- 35:36I understand what you're saying and I
- 35:38don't think you're necessarily wrong,
- 35:40but I think that having something like the
- 35:43beep test
- 35:45The people at the top are going to
- 35:47get punished more by the mid-level
- 35:49athletes or the people who are just a
- 35:51lot more aerobically inclined to just kind
- 35:52of keep running and keep running and keep
- 35:54running.
- 35:56And the people,
- 35:57other people are going to fall off or
- 35:58just go,
- 35:59there's no way I'm going to beat whoever,
- 36:02right?
- 36:02I'm just going to go as far as
- 36:03I can.
- 36:03I just don't think it's a good idea.
- 36:08I do think Jason Bourne makes a good
- 36:09point that an AMRAP not programmed
- 36:12perfectly looks like a mess on the floor.
- 36:15And Dave is big into the story being
- 36:18told on the floor.
- 36:20Right.
- 36:21Yeah.
- 36:22Even with multiple rounds,
- 36:24you have to put some kind of a
- 36:26counter up the lane of some sort so
- 36:29that the story is being told with an
- 36:32AMRAP that it could get wild if not
- 36:35programmed perfectly.
- 36:36Yeah.
- 36:38It's hard to follow because you don't,
- 36:40it's like you said, without counters,
- 36:42you're looking around going,
- 36:44what round are they on?
- 36:55I bet you Saturday morning they have some
- 36:56sort of capital type event.
- 36:58I don't think you can recapture the
- 37:00capital.
- 37:02What happened in that event is,
- 37:07I just don't think you can.
- 37:09And I don't think Dave has any attachment
- 37:12to the Capitol.
- 37:14No.
- 37:15That was Boz's event.
- 37:17It's Boz's stuff.
- 37:19And as much as he didn't even watch
- 37:21that year.
- 37:22Yeah.
- 37:23As much as he trusts Bob and respects
- 37:25Bob and all that stuff,
- 37:26he's not going to try to recreate any,
- 37:29any of that kind of stuff.
- 37:30He might do his own version of something
- 37:32along those lines.
- 37:33That wouldn't surprise me.
- 37:34Have a long run into something,
- 37:35into something that wouldn't surprise me
- 37:38at all,
- 37:38but I don't think he's going to do,
- 37:39you know, and you're never going to,
- 37:41you're never going to recreate that.
- 37:42Like,
- 37:44it's just not going to happen.
- 37:45Becca walking up the stairs,
- 37:48carrying that bag that was as big as
- 37:49she is and everybody just willing her to
- 37:53get all the way up the stairs.
- 37:54Like that's an iconic moment.
- 37:55It's not gonna,
- 37:56you're not gonna be able to do it
- 37:57again.
- 38:00Yeah, I don't, it's not,
- 38:02Dave has not typically done a run like
- 38:06that late into the weekend.
- 38:08No.
- 38:10But who knows?
- 38:11We don't know.
- 38:12other thing is i think you have to
- 38:13be careful about how many long events you
- 38:15do because you have to get twenty of
- 38:17them in in four days so i don't
- 38:24know i'm excited dude i really am i'm
- 38:31gonna be i'm gonna be competing that
- 38:33weekend it turns out maybe uh because
- 38:36monster games is the same weekend but they
- 38:38have a
- 38:40They're setting up an entire like a watch
- 38:42party area for us specifically so we can
- 38:45kind of keep up what's going on.
- 38:47So we can have like big TVs and
- 38:48stuff out there so we can see what's
- 38:49going on and kind of keep up without
- 38:51having to run back and forth to hotel
- 38:53rooms or Airbnbs or where everybody's
- 38:55staying.
- 38:56So that's going to be cool.
- 38:57But I am so very curious to see.
- 39:02and i'm glad we're getting into that area
- 39:03where like they're starting to release
- 39:04more stuff now right like hey we're gonna
- 39:07do this hopper event and this is how
- 39:09it's gonna go and let's answer any
- 39:10questions that you have about it and
- 39:12whatnot um so that you know you can
- 39:15kind of and generating some more
- 39:17excitement about it hey we're gonna do
- 39:19this we're gonna do that we're gonna do
- 39:21this without without releasing all of them
- 39:24because i don't think we need to know
- 39:25all twenty before they get started but i
- 39:28like that kind of stuff
- 39:29I like the slow leak that they're starting
- 39:31and that, as Dave put it,
- 39:33the drumbeat of the release.
- 39:36This is the last question and then I
- 39:37got to go to a meeting.
- 39:40Why would they have it on the same
- 39:41weekend?
- 39:42Well, Howie, it was not intentional.
- 39:46Monster Games is always the end of July.
- 39:48The Games has always been the first part
- 39:51of August.
- 39:52Games moved.
- 39:54yeah and they plopped themselves right on
- 39:57top of where monster games is held every
- 39:59year so not an intentional thing monster
- 40:02games kind of got the shaft by crossfit
- 40:06moving their event yeah it'll be fine
- 40:09there's still gonna be a ton of people
- 40:10there not a big deal so with that
- 40:16um good discussion
- 40:20uh make sure you go to chipotle today
- 40:22and get your avocado avocado is extra with
- 40:28that um i hope you guys have a
- 40:30great rest your day and we'll be back
- 40:31tomorrow where i have a little bit more
- 40:33time to chat with that we'll see everybody
- 40:36then i wouldn't wait to get to the
- 40:38editing room to jazz me up i'm already
- 40:41jazzy

- 40:54saddle.

- 40:56saddle.
