- 0:12Speaker 1: wanted to talk to you about this Texas game. We'll
- 0:13Speaker 1: talk about that in just a few minutes. But a
- 0:15Speaker 1: little breaking news is Florida may be without their starting quarterback,
- 0:19Speaker 1: Aaron Filo, for this game.
- 0:21Speaker 2: He's questionable.
- 0:22Speaker 1: I assume John Summerall is not pulling a Lane Kiffin
- 0:24Speaker 1: here and just making a guy questionable for the hell
- 0:27Speaker 1: of it to troll an.
- 0:29Speaker 2: Opponent, right?
- 0:30Speaker 3: I mean, we haven't seen any trolling Summerall yet, and
- 0:33Speaker 3: it feels like a real weird time to do that.
- 0:39Speaker 4: Also, if you watched on Saturday, you know that Philo
- 0:42Speaker 4: definitely got hit quite a few times. So this is
- 0:44Speaker 4: not actually all that surprising to me.
- 0:47Speaker 3: I'm pretty sure it's not a lane troll.
- 0:51Speaker 2: You know, what's interesting about this is.
- 0:54Speaker 1: You know, I, I, you talked about this in the
- 0:56Speaker 1: off season. Like I'll give you your flowers now. Like
- 0:58Speaker 1: Florida is not had a year where the guy who
- 1:00Speaker 1: started finished all 12 games. But you, you were also
- 1:06Speaker 1: consistent that like, it may not matter who, who wins
- 1:08Speaker 1: the job. There wasn't a massive amount of separation. And
- 1:11Speaker 1: I don't, you know, people, I don't know if, if
- 1:13Speaker 1: Philo has played poorly enough to cost himself the job.
- 1:17Speaker 1: I don't know if they have enough confidence in Tramiel,
- 1:19Speaker 1: like to take the offense to a different level when
- 1:21Speaker 1: the offensive line is the, the, the, kind of key
- 1:24Speaker 1: factor in, in a lot of struggles. Um, but sometimes
- 1:26Speaker 1: you do see guys kind of come in and bring
- 1:28Speaker 1: a spark. And I think at the same time, you know,
- 1:31Speaker 1: phase on Brandon got hit a ton for Tennessee against
- 1:35Speaker 1: this Texas team. And then came out the next week
- 1:37Speaker 1: against Auburn and he just didn't look like he had it.
- 1:40Speaker 2: Like his confidence was down.
- 1:42Speaker 1: He really, really struggled and they put in George McIntyre
- 1:46Speaker 1: and they ended up winning that game comfortably.
- 1:48Speaker 2: George played the next week against Arkansas.
- 1:50Speaker 1: I don't think it's a direct one-for-one comparison because in
- 1:53Speaker 1: that Tennessee game, Faison had a pretty clear injury with
- 1:56Speaker 1: his shoulder and it sidelined him for a few weeks.
- 1:58Speaker 1: But if you are worried a little bit about an
- 2:00Speaker 1: injury and you're thinking that maybe Jones could give you
- 2:02Speaker 1: a spark and you're worried a little bit about, man,
- 2:05Speaker 1: he's about to take a lot more hits potentially against
- 2:08Speaker 1: the Texas front that sacked Brandon 10 times. I feel
- 2:11Speaker 1: like all those things might create the perfect storm to
- 2:13Speaker 1: where maybe you do let Trammell go out there and
- 2:16Speaker 1: try and give you a spark and give them something
- 2:18Speaker 1: new to look at if you are worried about Philo
- 2:21Speaker 1: at all.
- 2:22Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 2:22Speaker 3: And you know, I think, I think two things can
- 2:24Speaker 3: be true at one time.
- 2:25Speaker 4: I don't think that Aaron Philo is the reason that
- 2:27Speaker 4: Florida lost these last two games. He probably honestly isn't
- 2:30Speaker 4: in the top five reasons that Florida lost these last
- 2:34Speaker 4: two games and truly he doesn't play defense. So like
- 2:36Speaker 4: maybe he's, he's lower down the list than, than even
- 2:39Speaker 4: six on that, you know? And I have been clear
- 2:42Speaker 4: all summer too, that it didn't really matter who started
- 2:44Speaker 4: at quarterback if the offensive line didn't do a good job,
- 2:47Speaker 4: which they haven't the last two games.
- 2:49Speaker 3: And so I think you can point to that more.
- 2:51Speaker 4: Aaron Filo was leading what was the most efficient offense
- 2:54Speaker 4: in the country through the first four games, and they
- 2:56Speaker 4: have completely fallen off the last two weeks. But he's
- 2:59Speaker 4: still averaging over 70% completion. He's thrown for 1,341 yards,
- 3:04Speaker 4: nine touchdowns, three interceptions, none of which really truly were
- 3:08Speaker 4: on him, hit his receivers in the chest and hands,
- 3:10Speaker 4: three different receivers who all dropped it in exactly the
- 3:13Speaker 4: same way. He's also added three rushing touchdowns. I think
- 3:16Speaker 4: those are actually very solid numbers. I do think he's
- 3:19Speaker 4: made maybe the wrong read or poor decision a few
- 3:22Speaker 4: different times in the South Carolina and Missouri games. He
- 3:24Speaker 4: wasn't perfect. But I think he was more than serviceable.
- 3:28Speaker 4: But I do think exactly what you're talking about could
- 3:32Speaker 4: be true. I don't think there's a huge gap between
- 3:34Speaker 4: Philo and Trammell. I think truly the only thing that
- 3:36Speaker 4: was actually separating them really was familiarity with the offense,
- 3:40Speaker 4: a better grasp on the playbook as a whole because
- 3:43Speaker 4: he has been exposed to it for longer. I think
- 3:45Speaker 4: they're pretty similar in terms of skill set. I think
- 3:49Speaker 4: there is something to be said for the possibility of
- 3:51Speaker 4: seeing a spark. So even before this report came out,
- 3:54Speaker 4: I had said, if I'm this staff, I may be considered, now,
- 3:59Speaker 4: I wouldn't have necessarily done it against Texas, but I
- 4:02Speaker 4: would maybe consider looking to Trammell not as a punishment
- 4:05Speaker 4: to Philo, but as a, we're going to throw everything
- 4:08Speaker 4: we've got at this situation to see what can give
- 4:12Speaker 4: us some sort of spark. And so, Maybe we get
- 4:15Speaker 4: to see that opportunity on Saturday. I'm certainly not rooting
- 4:19Speaker 4: for Philo to be hurt enough to be out, but
- 4:21Speaker 4: I am intrigued by the idea of a potential spark
- 4:26Speaker 4: that Jones could bring to the table.
- 4:28Speaker 1: What I think is interesting is looking at that quarterback battle,
- 4:34Speaker 1: not battle, but just quarterback decision is, again, going into...
- 4:39Speaker 1: what we don't know. And I know you, you jumped
- 4:41Speaker 1: on and did a video for this right away. When
- 4:43Speaker 1: this news came out, this one will come out a
- 4:46Speaker 1: little bit later. So we don't know what we don't know.
- 4:49Speaker 1: So somebody in the comments will be like, Hey, this
- 4:51Speaker 1: has already been announced or that's been. And so give
- 4:53Speaker 1: us a break on that.
- 4:54Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 4:55Speaker 1: Reacting quickly to it. We don't know what the issue is,
- 4:58Speaker 1: but I do think protecting him. If the offensive line
- 5:01Speaker 1: is a, is a, is a concern, which I think
- 5:03Speaker 1: it has been the last two games protecting him against
- 5:06Speaker 1: this Texas front.
- 5:07Speaker 2: If he's all, you know, So he's already banged up.
- 5:10Speaker 2: If Florida was undefeated.
- 5:11Speaker 1: And he was 80% and the offensive line, you had
- 5:14Speaker 1: a lot of confidence and he plays in this game, right?
- 5:18Speaker 1: Like I will get right back to the interview. But first,
- 5:20Speaker 1: if you are looking for the largest and best selection
- 5:23Speaker 1: of game day merchandise and apparel, make sure that you
- 5:26Speaker 1: are shopping at alumni hall. Right now, alumni hall has
- 5:29Speaker 1: given you 15% off. If you use our code CFA
- 5:34Speaker 1: 15 on your favorite team's gear on your rivals gear,
- 5:37Speaker 1: If you're watching this from an opponent perspective, it still works.
- 5:40Speaker 1: The code does not discriminate. CFA 15 will get you
- 5:43Speaker 1: 15% off at alumni hall. We appreciate them for their support.
- 5:47Speaker 1: Go check them out. Protecting him against a defensive line
- 5:51Speaker 1: that is elite. Like I think he gets thrown around
- 5:54Speaker 1: too much.
- 5:54Speaker 2: They're elite.
- 5:55Speaker 1: They got first rounders on all four, but like they're really,
- 5:57Speaker 1: really freaking good. I think that's probably the smart move
- 6:01Speaker 1: with where things are, especially because you don't feel like
- 6:03Speaker 1: there's a huge drop off. Like if Tramiel's a, a
- 6:06Speaker 1: six and five, those are six and a half or
- 6:07Speaker 1: a seven. Like you're, you're not talking and who knows, maybe,
- 6:10Speaker 1: maybe it's opposite of that. So I think protecting him
- 6:13Speaker 1: is probably smart, no matter who plays quarterback, the best
- 6:17Speaker 1: friend of either of them will be a running game
- 6:20Speaker 1: that gets going again. And that's a daunting task against
- 6:23Speaker 1: the Texas defensive front that I think again, is one
- 6:25Speaker 1: of the best, if not the best in college football.
- 6:27Speaker 1: And so I kind of wonder what is the plan
- 6:30Speaker 1: of attack, whether it's Philo or it's Jones, Do you
- 6:33Speaker 1: think they'll put a little bit more on the quarterback?
- 6:35Speaker 1: Do you, will they try to establish a ground game,
- 6:38Speaker 1: which you have to do to some level, but again,
- 6:40Speaker 1: teams just don't run on Texas. So I kind of
- 6:42Speaker 1: wonder like, how long do you kind of try to
- 6:45Speaker 1: establish that ground attack and get things going?
- 6:47Speaker 2: Like, how do you do that?
- 6:49Speaker 4: I think a lot of this comes down to, again,
- 6:51Speaker 4: this injury report that will come out Wednesday at 8 o'clock.
- 6:56Speaker 4: It depends on who from your wide receiving core is
- 6:59Speaker 4: fully available. We listened to Buster Faulkner yesterday talk about how,
- 7:02Speaker 4: for the very first time since the opener, Eric Singleton
- 7:06Speaker 4: is 100% healthy. If you remember, he got injured on
- 7:09Speaker 4: the very first series of that FAU game, blocking his
- 7:13Speaker 4: butt off on a Vernell Brown touchdown. So we have
- 7:16Speaker 4: not seen him at full go since then. We have had,
- 7:19Speaker 4: he was sprinkled in a tiny bit at the very
- 7:22Speaker 4: end of the Ole Miss game and a little bit
- 7:24Speaker 4: in the Missouri and South Carolina games, but he still
- 7:28Speaker 4: hadn't really played consistently.
- 7:29Speaker 3: Buster Faulkner has told us this.
- 7:31Speaker 4: Week that Aaron Filo, or excuse me, that Singleton is
- 7:35Speaker 4: at 100% go now.
- 7:36Speaker 3: So that's huge.
- 7:37Speaker 4: The other big question mark I have is VB three
- 7:41Speaker 4: is Vernell Brown going to be back for this game
- 7:44Speaker 4: if he is and we have a VB three that's
- 7:47Speaker 4: healthy a singleton that's healthy pair that with a Dallas
- 7:50Speaker 4: Wilson that's healthy I do like the idea that Florida
- 7:54Speaker 4: may be able to establish a little bit of a
- 7:57Speaker 4: running game Because.
- 7:59Speaker 3: You have to account for those guys.
- 8:01Speaker 4: When those guys are not available, when VB3 is not there,
- 8:05Speaker 4: you don't have to cover, no offense to Bailey Stockton,
- 8:08Speaker 4: Bailey Stockton in the same way that you have to
- 8:10Speaker 4: account for a VB3.
- 8:11Speaker 3: You just don't.
- 8:12Speaker 4: And so I think it's made it a little bit
- 8:14Speaker 4: easier on defenses. the last couple of weeks because of that. Now,
- 8:18Speaker 4: if you have to respect BB3 when he's in there,
- 8:21Speaker 4: you have to respect Singleton, you have to respect Wilson. Now,
- 8:25Speaker 4: if all three of them are there, you can't load
- 8:28Speaker 4: the box in a way that you maybe would against
- 8:30Speaker 4: Baugh if they weren't options on the field. So I
- 8:33Speaker 4: think what Florida does will depend at least in part
- 8:36Speaker 4: on who is fully available. But you probably need to
- 8:41Speaker 4: pass the ball more.
- 8:43Speaker 3: Than you have.
- 8:44Speaker 4: And you need to maybe take some shots downfield, you know,
- 8:48Speaker 4: we've seen Tramiel Jones do that a little bit in
- 8:51Speaker 4: the time this year and last that he has played.
- 8:53Speaker 3: I would love to see it more if he's the guy, but.
- 8:57Speaker 4: You know, this offense has its work cut out for it,
- 8:59Speaker 4: regardless of who the starter is.
- 9:02Speaker 2: Other side of the ball, Texas offense has not been
- 9:04Speaker 2: great by any means.
- 9:07Speaker 1: And their offense, I would describe it as clunky. And
- 9:10Speaker 1: then it also gave Oklahoma massive chances in that game to.
- 9:15Speaker 2: For Oklahoma to win the game.
- 9:16Speaker 1: I think that, you know, Oklahoma scored 17 points off
- 9:18Speaker 1: of turnovers, a pick six, a blocked punt that stayed
- 9:21Speaker 1: in bounds. They were a little fortunate there and it
- 9:23Speaker 1: ended up being seven points instead of two. And then the,
- 9:25Speaker 1: the interception at the end of the game, which gave
- 9:27Speaker 1: Oklahoma the game winning field goal, they had to go
- 9:29Speaker 1: get it. They did have to get a couple of
- 9:30Speaker 1: first downs, but gave them the opportunity to score there
- 9:34Speaker 1: at the end of regulation.
- 9:35Speaker 2: Florida's defense has been a struggle.
- 9:37Speaker 1: It's kind of an opportunity for Florida's defense to maybe
- 9:40Speaker 1: be a little bit better against an offense that at
- 9:42Speaker 1: best is clunky and And an offense that man, they
- 9:46Speaker 1: could give you a few turnovers. Like I don't, I
- 9:49Speaker 1: didn't think the, the pick six, I didn't think that
- 9:51Speaker 1: was a, a fantastic play by Oklahoma's defense. It was
- 9:55Speaker 1: a fun play, but it was just a terrible overthrow.
- 9:58Speaker 1: And if you get any opportunities like that, like you
- 10:00Speaker 1: got to capitalize on them. Florida's defense hasn't been great,
- 10:03Speaker 1: but if he throws you an arm punt, like I'm
- 10:05Speaker 1: not asking you to Randy Moss, a wide receiver and,
- 10:08Speaker 1: and be, you know, insanely athletic, but like if he
- 10:11Speaker 1: throws you an arm punt, you got to take it
- 10:13Speaker 1: the other way.
- 10:14Speaker 4: Well, and the crazy thing is this defense came up
- 10:16Speaker 4: with turnovers against Missouri. I mean, excuse me, against Ole Miss,
- 10:20Speaker 4: who is considered one of the better offenses in the country,
- 10:24Speaker 4: certainly in the conference, certainly better than Texas. They were
- 10:28Speaker 4: able to pressure Trinidad into making mistakes. So if you
- 10:31Speaker 4: can do that there, I'm not sure why you couldn't maybe,
- 10:34Speaker 4: if you're playing your best, do that against Texas. And
- 10:36Speaker 4: then last year, they were able to sack– Arch Manning
- 10:39Speaker 4: six times last year.
- 10:41Speaker 3: They got to him.
- 10:42Speaker 4: They pressured him. They forced him to make mistakes when
- 10:45Speaker 4: this defense beat him last year. So I think that
- 10:48Speaker 4: it is possible. For me, it is forcing him into
- 10:53Speaker 4: a situation where he is uncomfortable. Florida's got to figure
- 10:56Speaker 4: out a way to get pressure on him because he
- 10:58Speaker 4: does make.
- 10:59Speaker 3: Mistakes when he is uncomfortable.
- 11:01Speaker 4: And And Florida has proven earlier in the season that
- 11:04Speaker 4: they are absolutely capable of making quarterbacks uncomfortable. They made
- 11:08Speaker 4: Byron Brown uncomfortable. They made Trinidad Chambliss uncomfortable. So that
- 11:13Speaker 4: is the big ask for Saturday. Florida has a shot
- 11:16Speaker 4: in this game if they can make Arch Manning uncomfortable.
- 11:21Speaker 2: What is the thing about Texas that worries you the
- 11:25Speaker 2: most here?
- 11:26Speaker 4: Their strength is Florida's weakness at the moment. And I
- 11:30Speaker 4: think that's the Florida's running game was a strength. It
- 11:35Speaker 4: has not been a strength the last two weeks. I
- 11:37Speaker 4: guess I don't really know that I would point to
- 11:39Speaker 4: that has been a strength, so maybe that's.
- 11:40Speaker 3: A trick question there. Special teams.
- 11:43Speaker 4: And I know Texas fans are not big fans of
- 11:45Speaker 4: their special teams. Florida has some of the best special
- 11:48Speaker 4: teams in the country, and maybe that's a way you
- 11:51Speaker 4: stay in this game. If you block a punt, which
- 11:54Speaker 4: we saw last week, if you return a punt for
- 11:56Speaker 4: a touchdown or a kickoff for a touchdown, which Florida
- 11:59Speaker 4: has done all three of those things this season at points.
- 12:03Speaker 3: Maybe that is what you like.
- 12:06Speaker 4: But the fact that Florida's running game has been so
- 12:08Speaker 4: dead the last two weeks, and I do think that
- 12:12Speaker 4: Florida having a running game.
- 12:13Speaker 3: Is necessary for this offense to click. We've seen the difference.
- 12:16Speaker 4: You watch them put up over 500 yards of offense
- 12:20Speaker 4: some weeks because they could establish the run. They ran
- 12:22Speaker 4: for over 300 yards against Ole Miss. And I don't
- 12:25Speaker 4: care what defense you're playing. Rushing for over 300 yards
- 12:27Speaker 4: is incredibly impressive. especially when you're doing it in a
- 12:30Speaker 4: conference game. So the ability is there, but if, if
- 12:34Speaker 4: they can't establish the run and Texas has a much
- 12:36Speaker 4: better run deep truly than Florida has seen this year yet.
- 12:40Speaker 3: Um, it, that's really concerning. That's my biggest concern.
- 12:45Speaker 1: If you think 300 yards rushing is impressive, just go
- 12:47Speaker 1: back and watch that Louisville tape.
- 12:48Speaker 4: From Friday night to see what they did.
- 12:53Speaker 1: Um, yeah, it does feel like a game that I
- 12:56Speaker 1: think Florida will play well. I kind of expect them
- 12:58Speaker 1: to rebound a little bit, but it does.
- 13:00Speaker 2: I mean, there's a reason that Texas is, is favored
- 13:03Speaker 2: considerably in this game.
- 13:04Speaker 1: Like Florida, I think Florida kind of needs some things,
- 13:07Speaker 1: especially with the quarterback. need some things to go right
- 13:10Speaker 1: in their way.
- 13:11Speaker 3: They need BB3 back.
- 13:12Speaker 4: If he's not back, Florida has a very slim chance
- 13:16Speaker 4: in the game. I do think it will be interesting
- 13:19Speaker 4: to see when he is back and healthy. Is it
- 13:22Speaker 4: all of a sudden like the light bulb is back
- 13:23Speaker 4: on and this offense functions correctly? Or is it really
- 13:27Speaker 4: that the blueprint is out there and everybody else has
- 13:29Speaker 4: figured that out? And I feel like we don't know
- 13:30Speaker 4: the answer to that until we have a healthy BB3.
- 13:33Speaker 1: And with him coming back, you not only get the
- 13:36Speaker 1: extra option and it's not just an extra option, but
- 13:38Speaker 1: like the insane talent that he is.
- 13:41Speaker 3: The best option you have back.
- 13:42Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 13:43Speaker 1: The, the, the leadership that comes with it, the special
- 13:46Speaker 1: teams that you talk about, like I'm a lot more
- 13:48Speaker 1: worried about Florida taking one.
- 13:50Speaker 2: Back for a touchdown. If it's VB three, I am
- 13:52Speaker 2: the next guy, you know? So it's, It's everything, right?
- 13:55Speaker 1: Like it's not just, I mean, if Jaden ball was out,
- 13:57Speaker 1: obviously that would be a huge detrimental piece. Maybe not
- 13:59Speaker 1: necessarily just against Texas who has a great rushing D,
- 14:02Speaker 1: but like, yeah, he's not returning punts, right? Like he's, he's,
- 14:07Speaker 1: and I'm not saying he's not a leader. So you
- 14:08Speaker 1: would kind of have that part too, but you're getting
- 14:10Speaker 1: that emotional kind of like face of the offense with,
- 14:13Speaker 1: with a hundred percent.
- 14:14Speaker 2: So it's so many things.
- 14:15Speaker 1: It does feel like Florida will need something in the
- 14:18Speaker 1: special teams game. They'll need an arch mistake. Those are
- 14:21Speaker 1: things that have happened consistently to Texas all year. Tennessee
- 14:24Speaker 1: took a punt back. Tennessee picked off an arch pass.
- 14:27Speaker 1: Oklahoma did it on both of those fronts. Like he
- 14:30Speaker 1: hasn't been super sharp. Florida will have to capitalize on
- 14:33Speaker 1: every single opportunity. Certainly I would lean Texas here, but
- 14:37Speaker 1: what's your score?
- 14:38Speaker 2: And we'll get out.
- 14:40Speaker 4: So yesterday I predicted 24, 21, Texas, and I'm trying
- 14:45Speaker 4: to wrap my head around Florida. what I think that
- 14:48Speaker 4: score looks like if it's Tramell Jones. Like, do I
- 14:51Speaker 4: think that this score changes? Do I think that gives
- 14:54Speaker 4: Florida less of a shot? Do I think it gives
- 14:56Speaker 4: Florida more of a shot? I guess I'll stick with
- 14:58Speaker 4: that 24-21 at the moment because I really do need
- 15:01Speaker 4: to kind of process this more. We just got this
- 15:03Speaker 4: information less than a half an hour ago. I don't
- 15:06Speaker 4: know exactly when this video will run, but when we
- 15:08Speaker 4: recorded it, this had just come out. So I don't–
- 15:12Speaker 4: I'm not 100% sure what I think– We'll, we'll.
- 15:16Speaker 3: Happen there, but let's stick with 24, 21.
- 15:18Speaker 1: Allie peak, a peak inside Gators football. I know you'll
