- 0:00Speaker 1: He knows the backstory of Jadarian Price.
- 0:03Speaker 2: If he missed.
- 0:03Speaker 1: At the top of the show, Janarit Price is why
- 0:07Speaker 1: is his mother who had breast cancer when Price was
- 0:09Speaker 1: twelve years old and throughout middle school into high school.
- 0:14Speaker 1: He Price was taking care of his younger sisters when
- 0:19Speaker 1: his mother was diagnosed. He was twelve years old and
- 0:21Speaker 1: his younger sisters were ten and six. He cooked and
- 0:26Speaker 1: tended for them, made sure they got to school. He
- 0:27Speaker 1: got the school work done while he himself did the
- 0:29Speaker 1: same thing growing up fast.
- 0:31Speaker 3: The father was out of the picture.
- 0:33Speaker 1: Mother had him when she was seventeen years old. That's
- 0:38Speaker 1: the why he said, Mom's my rock.
- 0:40Speaker 3: Well.
- 0:41Speaker 1: Brett Weston, the coach at Dennison High School in Texas,
- 0:45Speaker 1: knows all about that. He knows exactly the background. He
- 0:48Speaker 1: saw that he was there. He was there when Price
- 0:51Speaker 1: was an all district running back, rushing for fifty five
- 0:54Speaker 1: touchdowns in two seasons, getting a scholarship to Notre Dame.
- 0:58Speaker 3: He was there and he.
- 1:00Speaker 1: Price blew out his achilles as a freshman at Notre Dame.
- 1:03Speaker 1: He was there with Price and supporting Price when Price
- 1:08Speaker 1: was a backup for three years to Jeremiah Love, who
- 1:13Speaker 1: was the third pick in yesterday's draft. It's not like
- 1:15Speaker 1: Price wasn't good, it's he wasn't as good as Love,
- 1:18Speaker 1: who was the third pick in the entire draft yesterday.
- 1:21Speaker 1: And we talked about how important it was to the
- 1:24Speaker 1: Seahawks to Mike McDonald, to his culture that he's built
- 1:27Speaker 1: in this locker room, that Jenarian Price stayed all his
- 1:31Speaker 1: years at Notre Dame through the Achilles through being a backup.
- 1:35Speaker 1: I mean, there are many dudes Chris who get drafted
- 1:38Speaker 1: in the first round who's a backup through their senior season.
- 1:42Speaker 1: I mean that's unheard of, especially in this day and
- 1:44Speaker 1: age nil and transferport. There are backups. There are freshmen
- 1:48Speaker 1: who never play, who get offers to go somewhere else
- 1:51Speaker 1: for money.
- 1:52Speaker 2: His teams just.
- 1:53Speaker 4: Throw money around whether the kid has played or hasn't played. Yeah,
- 1:56Speaker 4: good for him for staying true to himself and being
- 2:00Speaker 4: able to understand that, yeah, he might not be starting
- 2:06Speaker 4: there at Notre Dame, but he didn't just flee to
- 2:08Speaker 4: the next team that was going to give him money
- 2:11Speaker 4: and an opportunity to start. Because he felt value, whether
- 2:13Speaker 4: it be the coaching used to have his teammates, he
- 2:16Speaker 4: felt like home it was perfect for him. It was
- 2:18Speaker 4: a good fit. Again, he might not be a starter,
- 2:20Speaker 4: but now look at him. He has an opportunity to
- 2:22Speaker 4: be said starter at the next level, which is huge.
- 2:25Speaker 4: He gets to be He's one of thirty one other
- 2:28Speaker 4: running backs that are starters in this league. That's a
- 2:31Speaker 4: pretty impressive not to mention. As you stated, he wasn't
- 2:34Speaker 4: starting at Notre Dame, but there was enough information and
- 2:38Speaker 4: when you go and looked at his tape that you say,
- 2:40Speaker 4: you know what, he could be a starter at the
- 2:42Speaker 4: next level and the right fit. It might be the
- 2:44Speaker 4: Seattle Seahawks with that offensive line that's gotten better over
- 2:47Speaker 4: this past season. They have a good quarterback and Sam
- 2:50Speaker 4: Darnold and have an elite defense. So you get him
- 2:52Speaker 4: in the right situation. This could really work out for Jadarian.
- 2:55Speaker 4: And if he went to a let's say, I don't know,
- 2:57Speaker 4: Auburn or something, it was a starting running back the
- 3:00Speaker 4: star you get drafted to a team that's not as
- 3:03Speaker 4: well suited, maybe like the aroson the Cardinals, who I
- 3:05Speaker 4: just come to find out they had the wrong number
- 3:08Speaker 4: for their draft pick in Jeremiah love Kate. Who would
- 3:10Speaker 4: have thought of that? The only the Arizona Cardinals could
- 3:12Speaker 4: have such a thing happen. Having the wrong number for
- 3:14Speaker 4: the kid, Yeah, and calling up Greg and like, hey,
- 3:17Speaker 4: we got you with the third overall pick. And Greg's like, yeah,
- 3:20Speaker 4: I'm actually a reporter, but that's kind of you.
- 3:23Speaker 3: Thanks.
- 3:25Speaker 1: If you can pull it up. He had an answer.
- 3:27Speaker 1: I will read it for bad. M'd rather hear from
- 3:28Speaker 1: his voice from the press conference Price yesterday talking about
- 3:31Speaker 1: his decision to stay at Notre Dame. It's about midway
- 3:34Speaker 1: through the press conference and we could play it, and
- 3:36Speaker 1: he talked about how his heart was to stay at
- 3:38Speaker 1: Notre Dame and he wanted to challenge to be behind Love.
- 3:43Speaker 1: He also said, Price did that He's bread and butter
- 3:46Speaker 1: is outside zone. That's what he loves. He loves one
- 3:49Speaker 1: cut and go. He loves the seal and the block
- 3:52Speaker 1: outside the tackle and to make the guy miss at
- 3:55Speaker 1: the second level.
- 3:57Speaker 3: It's like Mike McDonald.
- 3:58Speaker 1: Was talking through his ear when he was talking about that,
- 4:00Speaker 1: because it's exactly what they're going to do on offense,
- 4:03Speaker 1: what they did on offense last year when they retooled
- 4:05Speaker 1: it to outside zone, the one cutting go, which is
- 4:09Speaker 1: what Kenneth Walker was really good at and there is
- 4:13Speaker 1: something of a game breaking ability that Price that you
- 4:18Speaker 1: had in Kenneth Walker as well, from the middle of
- 4:20Speaker 1: the field, not just the goal line.
- 4:22Speaker 3: And he's gonna get every opportunity.
- 4:24Speaker 1: He's the only running back now of seven that they have,
- 4:26Speaker 1: the only halfback who's got a contract when he signs it,
- 4:30Speaker 1: He's got a contract beyond this year. He's got a
- 4:32Speaker 1: four year deal, as every draft pick gets. So Jedarian
- 4:36Speaker 1: Price from Dennis and Texas. We talked about his background.
- 4:41Speaker 1: Brett Winston knows it better than any of us. He
- 4:44Speaker 1: was this high school coach at Dennison High School in Texas.
- 4:48Speaker 1: The coach joins us live on the Beacon Pumping Hotline
- 4:50Speaker 1: from North Texas on ninety three point three KJFM. Good morning, coach,
- 4:53Speaker 1: thank you very much for joining us here in Seattle.
- 4:56Speaker 5: Good morning. Excited about JD.
- 4:59Speaker 3: JD. Were already have been told that's what the cool
- 5:01Speaker 3: kids call him.
- 5:03Speaker 6: That's right, and and and his name is pronounced Jadi, Yes, sir,
- 5:07Speaker 6: so uh and and and he's he's so.
- 5:10Speaker 5: Humble he would never correct you.
- 5:12Speaker 6: So I want to make sure that that you guys
- 5:14Speaker 6: get it right the first time. Yes, sir, we were
- 5:16Speaker 6: informed of that and we will keep working good. We
- 5:20Speaker 6: will keep working on that. Thank you for that.
- 5:22Speaker 1: Now I have detail I wrote about for the News
- 5:24Speaker 1: Tribune last night. I deal detail at the top of
- 5:26Speaker 1: our show. His upbringing and the fact that he his
- 5:30Speaker 1: mother is his rock and you know that more than
- 5:33Speaker 1: I do.
- 5:34Speaker 2: Can you talk about absolutely Can you talk.
- 5:36Speaker 1: About the influence his mother and what Jedarian had to
- 5:40Speaker 1: do taking care of his daughters grown up and in
- 5:41Speaker 1: through high school.
- 5:42Speaker 3: Was on him.
- 5:44Speaker 6: You know, the single mom thing is I mean, that's
- 5:47Speaker 6: a that's a daily, you know, fact of our of
- 5:51Speaker 6: our life, especially in the high school coaching business. But
- 5:54Speaker 6: I don't know that I've had very many like Jedarian's mom.
- 5:58Speaker 6: She is a lioness, uh fiercely protective of her kid,
- 6:03Speaker 6: but has held him absolutely accountable.
- 6:05Speaker 5: You know, it's it's he's a good kid.
- 6:08Speaker 6: Is the most overused phrase in education, but because you know,
- 6:12Speaker 6: we tend to use it as a, you know, a
- 6:13Speaker 6: get out of this situation type of thing. But when
- 6:16Speaker 6: you're talking about that with Jadari, and a lot of
- 6:18Speaker 6: that comes back to mom and to come back to
- 6:20Speaker 6: the family.
- 6:21Speaker 5: He has here, his little sisters.
- 6:24Speaker 6: You know, the his role in watching over them, protecting them,
- 6:28Speaker 6: holding them accountable was one of the most amazing things
- 6:31Speaker 6: I got to see.
- 6:33Speaker 5: I inherited j D. I didn't I didn't raise him
- 6:36Speaker 5: as a coach.
- 6:36Speaker 6: I coached him for one year, and I make the
- 6:39Speaker 6: joke that that Chad Rodgers, who was the head coach
- 6:41Speaker 6: there before me, handed me an escalade and said, you know,
- 6:44Speaker 6: just don't scratch it up, and that's that's kind of
- 6:46Speaker 6: what we tried to do.
- 6:47Speaker 1: You mentioned him watching his over his sisters. Did you
- 6:51Speaker 1: ever have to make accommodations for the football part of that?
- 6:54Speaker 1: Or was But I know his mother had beaten breast
- 6:56Speaker 1: cancer and gotten a clear diagnosis by that point, But
- 6:59Speaker 1: was there anything that he was maybe beyond the average
- 7:03Speaker 1: high school football player doing outside of football the family?
- 7:07Speaker 6: He was beyond the averagehigh school football player outside there
- 7:09Speaker 6: in a lot of ways. One first and first and
- 7:12Speaker 6: foremost scholastically. I mean, he's not just one of these.
- 7:15Speaker 5: You know.
- 7:16Speaker 6: He didn't get into Notre Dame because of his forty times.
- 7:18Speaker 6: He got into that Notre Dame because he's a great
- 7:20Speaker 6: football player and because he qualified academically if he had
- 7:24Speaker 6: two left feet.
- 7:25Speaker 3: But his.
- 7:27Speaker 6: Outside of football, in his church and taking care of
- 7:30Speaker 6: his sisters. He never asked for a single accommodation in
- 7:33Speaker 6: any way, not of anything. I think the only accommodation
- 7:37Speaker 6: he asked of Dennison Independent School District, ever, was to
- 7:40Speaker 6: help him in his efforts to graduate early so he
- 7:42Speaker 6: could get to Notre Dame in January.
- 7:45Speaker 3: And that was done.
- 7:47Speaker 6: And he works very very closely with the campus administration
- 7:50Speaker 6: and with the assistant superintendent in charge of those things.
- 7:52Speaker 6: But he did all the things it took to get done.
- 7:56Speaker 6: He didn't ask somebody to do it for him.
- 7:57Speaker 1: On the field all district running back as a junior
- 8:00Speaker 1: and a senior. For you, your senior year at Dennison High School,
- 8:04Speaker 1: can you describe his explosiveness? He did talk to this
- 8:07Speaker 1: about he goes to be one cut and go outside zone.
- 8:10Speaker 3: Did you see there that?
- 8:11Speaker 1: Wow, I'm coaching a potential future NFL first round pick.
- 8:16Speaker 6: Always felt like he would be because I knew he
- 8:18Speaker 6: would do the things it took. The only time I
- 8:21Speaker 6: ever got scared about that was when he went to
- 8:23Speaker 6: Notre Dame and tore the Achilles right in the spring
- 8:26Speaker 6: of his first in that first spring there. Of course,
- 8:28Speaker 6: that was after he took a screen pass in the
- 8:30Speaker 6: spring game about third play and went eighty something yards
- 8:32Speaker 6: with it, so you knew, you know, all the things
- 8:34Speaker 6: we'd ever seen him do.
- 8:36Speaker 3: He is.
- 8:37Speaker 6: He's like all great running backs, great low you know,
- 8:41Speaker 6: a low center of gravity and great lower body strength.
- 8:44Speaker 6: But he goes zero to sixty as fast as anybody
- 8:47Speaker 6: I've ever seen, much less coached. And and then you'll
- 8:51Speaker 6: see his video. I'm sure you guys have watched tons
- 8:53Speaker 6: of it. Watched the number of times he absorbs twenty
- 8:58Speaker 6: five percent of a lick. Twenty five guy's coming to
- 9:02Speaker 6: plow him, and JD has that knack of only catching
- 9:05Speaker 6: a quarter of the guy. And that's how JD has turned.
- 9:09Speaker 6: And you know, watch his kickoff returns. He sees a
- 9:11Speaker 6: gap and goes and then he shimmies or slips that
- 9:16Speaker 6: that one bit of contact and is right back up
- 9:18Speaker 6: to full speed again. Just incredible vision, great hands. He'd
- 9:23Speaker 6: be a great slot receiver, you know. And I think
- 9:25Speaker 6: that's kind of what they played with doing the Notre
- 9:27Speaker 6: dame for a little walt till they figured out he
- 9:28Speaker 6: was indeed a running back.
- 9:30Speaker 1: This is the voice of coach Brett Winston, who was
- 9:33Speaker 1: kind enough to join us today after I assume you
- 9:36Speaker 1: were there or at least part of the celebration for
- 9:39Speaker 1: Jidarian Price getting drafted to thirty second in the first
- 9:41Speaker 1: round to the Seahawks. He's joining us from North Texas
- 9:44Speaker 1: on the Beacon Plumbing hotline in ninety three point three KJRFM.
- 9:47Speaker 4: What kind of teammate and or leader was he his
- 9:50Speaker 4: senior season and how might that impact a professional locker
- 9:53Speaker 4: room like the Seahawks.
- 9:56Speaker 6: He'll assimilate very quickly because he is not a knee first,
- 9:59Speaker 6: look at me kind of guy.
- 10:00Speaker 7: I mean he will be.
- 10:01Speaker 6: He was a great teammate and he was the best
- 10:03Speaker 6: football player, uh in in North Texas. I'm not gonna
- 10:08Speaker 6: not just at Dennison High School in our district, All state,
- 10:12Speaker 6: all all district, and he was that for as his
- 10:14Speaker 6: junior and senior. But I never ever ever saw him
- 10:18Speaker 6: peacock one bit, never ever.
- 10:20Speaker 2: He was.
- 10:22Speaker 5: So humble, uh and a great friend.
- 10:25Speaker 6: And he's still on a you know, a daily telephone
- 10:28Speaker 6: call and a text chain with five or six of
- 10:30Speaker 6: his of his teammates. And I know that because my
- 10:33Speaker 6: defensive coordinator is one of those kids on that text chain.
- 10:36Speaker 6: And so that's how we kind of keep up with
- 10:38Speaker 6: Jadari and when he's not in town. He was a
- 10:41Speaker 6: genuine friend, so admired by faculty. I mean, I keep waiting,
- 10:46Speaker 6: I keep thinking I'll think of a ward, but he
- 10:48Speaker 6: didn't have any. You know, he's just a guy that
- 10:50Speaker 6: he is. He's everything that you picture when you try
- 10:53Speaker 6: to draw that ideal student athlete.
- 10:55Speaker 1: When Jennaron came back from Notre Dame, maybe after his
- 10:58Speaker 1: freshman year in the Kelly or even at the end
- 11:01Speaker 1: of his three seasons. Backing up Jeremi, I love what
- 11:03Speaker 1: did you notice about him as a man and as
- 11:05Speaker 1: a player one?
- 11:07Speaker 6: You know, he was all he was a very mature
- 11:09Speaker 6: eighteen year old. He's a really mature twenty one year
- 11:12Speaker 6: old took you know, he'd never had any money. He
- 11:15Speaker 6: didn't have any money, Their family didn't have any money,
- 11:18Speaker 6: and and you know, nil and the things that college
- 11:21Speaker 6: football gives them then opportunity to do. Now, I'm really
- 11:25Speaker 6: proud of how he's assumed, how he's assumed the responsibility
- 11:28Speaker 6: of managing mat and helping family with it. Mom but
- 11:33Speaker 6: being but you know, having some real pride and some
- 11:36Speaker 6: self worth about the ability to do that. The other
- 11:39Speaker 6: thing I noticed is that his chest.
- 11:40Speaker 5: Got really really wide and really really big.
- 11:44Speaker 6: He got in the weight room and got after the
- 11:46Speaker 6: physical difference is when he came back were startling. It
- 11:51Speaker 6: gave me a real new appreciation my son played college
- 11:53Speaker 6: football and I didn't see the changes in him over.
- 11:56Speaker 5: Four years that I saw in five months for JD.
- 11:59Speaker 6: Training table, you know, training table, reliable three per day,
- 12:02Speaker 6: and and then the ability to get in the weight
- 12:05Speaker 6: room to the to the volume those guys do he
- 12:08Speaker 6: ate it up.
- 12:09Speaker 1: You mentioned the physical physical development. He said he weighed
- 12:12Speaker 1: two o three at the combine, which with the league
- 12:14Speaker 1: measured him at, and he said that was light for him.
- 12:16Speaker 1: He plays around two ten once he played two ten
- 12:18Speaker 1: for the Seahawks. What was his growth from high school?
- 12:20Speaker 1: What did he play for you? Roughly as a senior
- 12:22Speaker 1: at Dennis in high school and up to two oh
- 12:24Speaker 1: three two ten at Notre Dame.
- 12:28Speaker 6: It was amid the HIGHA one eighties, Like when he'd
- 12:30Speaker 6: be running track, he would get down one hundred and
- 12:32Speaker 6: eighty two or eighty three. When that first spring when
- 12:36Speaker 6: I came in his junior year, I was actually kind
- 12:39Speaker 6: of surprised at how slight he looked, because I watched
- 12:42Speaker 6: him work in the weight room, I thought, oh, take
- 12:44Speaker 6: your shirt off, let me see what you got here.
- 12:46Speaker 6: And he was still he was pretty slight by the
- 12:49Speaker 6: time he graduated, by the time he left in January
- 12:52Speaker 6: of twenty two. Again, I'm you know, I remember his
- 12:56Speaker 6: program weight being one hundred and eighty seven, But of course,
- 12:58Speaker 6: you know I was six two and in the program
- 13:00Speaker 6: when I was in high school, so I don't know that. Well,
- 13:02Speaker 6: I don't know how much credibility there is in that,
- 13:04Speaker 6: but uh, pretty solid that he put on good fifteen
- 13:08Speaker 6: pounds of muscle in that first eight to nine months
- 13:11Speaker 6: he was at South ben.
- 13:13Speaker 4: When you look back at it, coach and you look
- 13:16Speaker 4: at that senior season that he had with you, is
- 13:18Speaker 4: there a specific game or even a moment where you felt, Man,
- 13:21Speaker 4: this this young kid is very special.
- 13:24Speaker 6: Well, I mean the very first one I got to
- 13:26Speaker 6: coach him, and it's it's the most overblown thing in
- 13:29Speaker 6: the world, but the Battle of the Acts between Sherman
- 13:31Speaker 6: and Dennison. JD went for I think two thirty five
- 13:37Speaker 6: and busted the thing open at the end of the
- 13:38Speaker 6: first half of two sixty plus runs, and I that
- 13:42Speaker 6: was because you're in you know, you're in preseason practice
- 13:44Speaker 6: and you scrimmaged somebody. I didn't want him touch the
- 13:46Speaker 6: ball on a scrimmage. But then when we got to
- 13:48Speaker 6: let him go, Uh, that was the first moment where
- 13:51Speaker 6: I thought I had that I was going to be
- 13:53Speaker 6: responsible for, you know, keeping something very very special on
- 13:56Speaker 6: the field as much as we could and productive. And
- 13:59Speaker 6: then about three quarters the year through his senior year,
- 14:01Speaker 6: he went for three twenty five against one of the
- 14:03Speaker 6: Frisco schools and it was the most effortless three twenty
- 14:06Speaker 6: five you've ever seen. His Loby went back after the
- 14:09Speaker 6: ball game and you look at the stat sheet and
- 14:11Speaker 6: you go, he did what you just didn't You didn't
- 14:14Speaker 6: remember you got where you took for granted this twelve
- 14:17Speaker 6: yard run and this fourteen yard run because you remember
- 14:20Speaker 6: the thirty five and the fifty. Just a guy that
- 14:24Speaker 6: makes the game look so he said, But you know,
- 14:26Speaker 6: there's there were a lot of guys last night that
- 14:27Speaker 6: got their name called that make the game look easy.
- 14:30Speaker 5: I just got the witness one in.
- 14:31Speaker 1: Person, Coach Brett Weston, did he did you give him
- 14:34Speaker 1: the ball for thirty forty times?
- 14:36Speaker 3: Did you have a governor?
- 14:37Speaker 7: Hum?
- 14:37Speaker 4: Did you not need to because he was galloping for
- 14:39Speaker 4: three hundred and ten carries.
- 14:40Speaker 3: What kind of belkow was he?
- 14:41Speaker 5: For you?
- 14:43Speaker 6: Early in the year, we did kind of put a
- 14:44Speaker 6: pitch count on him, and as the year went on
- 14:48Speaker 6: and he asked for it more and more, what we
- 14:50Speaker 6: did was we we took care of that with with
- 14:54Speaker 6: you know, kind of rationing his practice reps so that
- 14:57Speaker 6: Friday he would be No, he never asked out. He
- 14:59Speaker 6: was you know, he would have been dragging a leg
- 15:02Speaker 6: and wouldn't have missed practice. He's going to be out
- 15:04Speaker 6: there with us because that was you know, that's a
- 15:05Speaker 6: teammate thing. But as we got late in year, I
- 15:09Speaker 6: think I think that that that Liberty Ball game that
- 15:12Speaker 6: he went for three twenty five, I want to say
- 15:14Speaker 6: he had twenty eight carries. I know we went to
- 15:18Speaker 6: Ennis in our playoff game and I think he had
- 15:20Speaker 6: thirty four thirty five carries.
- 15:22Speaker 5: So as we got late in the year.
- 15:24Speaker 6: I mean it's kind of like he heard all these
- 15:25Speaker 6: great backs that they get better in the second half.
- 15:27Speaker 6: Well he got much, he got more opportunities. The thing
- 15:31Speaker 6: that nobody talked about at that time was that, yeah,
- 15:33Speaker 6: he carried it. I think thirty four times against Nus,
- 15:36Speaker 6: but he had six catches too, you know so, and
- 15:39Speaker 6: would step up and plant somebody in pass protection. So
- 15:42Speaker 6: physicality has never been a problem for him.
- 15:44Speaker 1: Coach Brett Wiston, his Jendaring Prices High School coach in
- 15:50Speaker 1: Dennis and Texas on the Red River across the Oklahoma
- 15:53Speaker 1: border in North Texas. If you could give one active you,
- 15:56Speaker 1: one thing that you want Seahawks in the Pacific Northwest.
- 16:00Speaker 1: I know about their new running back, the greatest trade,
- 16:02Speaker 1: the greatest anecdote, the thing you would love people to
- 16:05Speaker 1: know out.
- 16:06Speaker 3: Here when they get to know him. What would you
- 16:07Speaker 3: say about jdari In Price?
- 16:10Speaker 6: Probably Well, I'm just gonna say he's the most honorable
- 16:12Speaker 6: young man I ever coached.
- 16:14Speaker 5: From a standpoint.
- 16:15Speaker 6: All the things that you asked the good players and
- 16:19Speaker 6: the great people come out of your program to be,
- 16:23Speaker 6: he did them all, and he did him with honor,
- 16:26Speaker 6: and he didn't he never did him with a you know,
- 16:29Speaker 6: look at me attitude. He's just honorable, is the That's
- 16:34Speaker 6: the word that's always come to mind with him.
- 16:36Speaker 3: The world needs a few more of those.
- 16:39Speaker 6: Thank you, sir, Thank you for what you do.
- 16:43Speaker 1: Thank you for coming on with us. Greatly appreciated. I
- 16:46Speaker 1: guess would be you should probably getting a shipment from
- 16:48Speaker 1: the Seahawks headquarters and getting some sea here down.
- 16:51Speaker 5: I'm waiting for some slash.
- 16:53Speaker 3: Yeah, probably on its way. Thank you, sir, all right,
- 16:57Speaker 3: thank you guy. Be well.
- 16:58Speaker 1: Coach Brett Winston Jadarian Prices high school coach in Dennis
- 17:02Speaker 1: in Texas. He's I moved on to another school, but
- 17:06Speaker 1: he was the senior year coach. He inherit him as
- 17:08Speaker 1: he said, arrived junior year spring.
- 17:12Speaker 3: Interesting.
- 17:12Speaker 1: He said that Jadarion Price graduated early from high school
- 17:16Speaker 1: amid all of what was going on with his mother
- 17:19Speaker 1: battling cancer and beating it with Price raising helping raise
- 17:23Speaker 1: his younger sisters through all of that, he graduated high
- 17:27Speaker 1: school early and entered Notre Dame. As a lot of
- 17:30Speaker 1: big school programs do, they like to get their guys,
- 17:32Speaker 1: their top recruits on campus as soon as possible January,
- 17:36Speaker 1: at the end of the semester of senior year high school,
- 17:39Speaker 1: so they can get a head start on spring practice.
- 17:41Speaker 3: Well, he did that.
- 17:43Speaker 1: And not only did he did that, and then he
- 17:45Speaker 1: rips out his achilles and he missed his whole freshman year,
- 17:49Speaker 1: stayed at Notre Dame. As we said, people are asking
- 17:52Speaker 1: on the text line of the Komododge text line four
- 17:54Speaker 1: nine four to five one. Yes, he did graduate. He
- 17:57Speaker 1: graduated before the end of his playing career. He is
- 18:00Speaker 1: not just a football player or a jock. And you
- 18:03Speaker 1: heard his coach just mentioned his high school coach say
- 18:07Speaker 1: how everything he does is honorable, the most honorable young
- 18:09Speaker 1: man I've ever coached, and coaches in Texas, they tend
- 18:13Speaker 1: to coach for a long time with coaching a lot
- 18:15Speaker 1: of young men.
- 18:16Speaker 3: Yeah, that's saying something.
- 18:17Speaker 4: Yeah, now he's an ad so good for him. But yeah,
- 18:20Speaker 4: it was funny when he called me. He was, I
- 18:22Speaker 4: am so sorry, man. I was in the meeting. You know,
- 18:24Speaker 4: you talked to me last night, and my bad.
- 18:26Speaker 2: I just who's this?
- 18:27Speaker 4: Ye, I don't remember blowing me up, blowing so I
- 18:29Speaker 4: just kept blowing you all and then I was like, oh, shoot,
- 18:31Speaker 4: I completely forgotten he called me. He called me while
- 18:34Speaker 4: we were talking and he was, I'm so sorry, man,
- 18:36Speaker 4: I just meant a meeting, blown me up.
- 18:39Speaker 2: Oh it's all.
- 18:39Speaker 3: Good, coach.
- 18:40Speaker 4: I know you're a busy man. That's why I called
- 18:41Speaker 4: you the Greek confirm and it's all good. So, yeah,
- 18:44Speaker 4: he's a busy guy. But yeah, that was cool that
- 18:46Speaker 4: he spent some time on the show talking about JD.
- 18:48Speaker 4: So it sounds like to see ours got a gym
- 18:50Speaker 4: as they always do, right.
- 18:51Speaker 1: As they tend to do with the character guys. That's
- 18:54Speaker 1: their impetus, their mo and he's They certainly seem to
- 18:57Speaker 1: have gotten one in JEDII and Price.
- 18:58Speaker 3: Coach Bratt Wez.
- 19:00Speaker 1: And if you missed that interview with us, go to
- 19:02Speaker 1: the iHeartRadio app nine three three KJR. Chris is gonna
- 19:05Speaker 1: post it on the podcast page on our nine three
- 19:07Speaker 1: to three kjr dot com website.
- 19:09Speaker 3: You can catch what it is.
- 19:10Speaker 1: And if you miss the backstory to his mother, we
- 19:13Speaker 1: let off the show with it.
- 19:15Speaker 3: It's unique.
- 19:16Speaker 1: It makes you appreciate his path and they all have one.
- 19:20Speaker 1: His is quite unique. Up next, your chance to be
- 19:22Speaker 1: a part of the show four, nine, four or five one.
- 19:24Speaker 1: How you feel about the Seahawks' newest running back number
- 19:28Speaker 1: one draft pick? Where you want them to go today,
- 19:30Speaker 1: tomorrow the rest of the draft, only three picks remaining
- 19:32Speaker 1: over the final six rounds. We'll talk tons more as you,
- 19:36Speaker 1: guys and gals are the part of the show. Next
- 19:38Speaker 1: on ninety three point three KJRF.
- 19:43Speaker 3: You heard the World Cup there. We're gonna have some stuff.
- 19:45Speaker 1: Surrounding the World Cup. We'll announce that soon. But yeah,
- 19:49Speaker 1: you're gonna hear some World Cup on our airways this
- 19:51Speaker 1: summer and June, the world's biggest sporting event comes to
- 19:54Speaker 1: Seattle for games, matches, first round matches, and quarterfinal matches
- 19:58Speaker 1: around of sixteen at lumen Field.
- 20:01Speaker 2: You know what the music means.
- 20:02Speaker 1: It's time to be turning our Tacoma Dodge text line
- 20:06Speaker 1: over to you your chance to be a part of
- 20:07Speaker 1: the show. At four nine, four or five one.
- 20:10Speaker 4: You guys spoke about the eight minutes, Well, you know what,
- 20:13Speaker 4: the eight minutes didn't matter to the viewers, and that's
- 20:15Speaker 4: when the two five to three you know, probably not,
- 20:18Speaker 4: I would guess, I wouldn't know. Actually doesn't matter to
- 20:22Speaker 4: me because I'm not trying to sit up there and
- 20:24Speaker 4: be like, yo, ten minutes to make a pick?
- 20:25Speaker 2: Are you kidding me? Ten minutes?
- 20:27Speaker 4: That's a long time. Yeah, it's always a BUTU whatever,
- 20:30Speaker 4: And everyone uses.
- 20:31Speaker 1: All ten minutes because you're waiting to fetch potential draft
- 20:34Speaker 1: or trade options at the last second.
- 20:37Speaker 2: Yes, eh, did you have one great. Did you want
- 20:40Speaker 2: to go.
- 20:40Speaker 1: Through five h nine says oh mg, a young man
- 20:43Speaker 1: that values education with an exclamation point three six. Oh
- 20:46Speaker 1: did price graduate? Maybe he stayed to get the education.
- 20:49Speaker 1: A Notre Dame degree is pretty impressive and valuable. Yes, yes,
- 20:52Speaker 1: and yes he did stay to get his degree, and
- 20:54Speaker 1: a Notre.
- 20:55Speaker 3: Dame education is valuable.
- 20:56Speaker 1: And as you heard his coach Brett Winston tell us
- 21:00Speaker 1: from North Texas, just a moment ago.
- 21:02Speaker 3: He didn't get in because just it was forty.
- 21:03Speaker 1: Time, or the fact that he ran three hundred and
- 21:05Speaker 1: twenty five yards in games of senior year. He got
- 21:07Speaker 1: in because of his academics, and you don't get into
- 21:10Speaker 1: Notre Dame.
- 21:10Speaker 3: I mean, Notre Dame is.
- 21:11Speaker 1: Still big time football, but you still have to clear
- 21:13Speaker 1: the academic piece to get into the program and to graduate.
- 21:16Speaker 3: When he did. He got into early.
- 21:18Speaker 1: He enrolled early as of January and roly as a
- 21:20Speaker 1: freshman to get the spring practice for Notre Dame early.
- 21:24Speaker 4: From the two five to three, you guys are missing
- 21:26Speaker 4: the point by taking a quarterback. The Rams messed up
- 21:28Speaker 4: the Seahawks from trading down. Great strategy.
- 21:32Speaker 1: Yeah, we talked about that. I wrote it last night.
- 21:33Speaker 1: The News Tribune. The Seahawks were I don't know if
- 21:36Speaker 1: counting on what we're expecting Simpson to be at thirty
- 21:40Speaker 1: two to facilitate more teams quarterback needy teams coming up
- 21:44Speaker 1: from the second round back into the first of the
- 21:45Speaker 1: Arizona Cardinals was the team that was the most predicted
- 21:50Speaker 1: to do just that. There were others. But then when
- 21:52Speaker 1: Simpson left at thirteen to the Rams, much to Sean
- 21:55Speaker 1: mcvay's dismay, that piece that made John Schneider's job more difficult.
- 22:01Speaker 1: He was going to have to go out and sell
- 22:03Speaker 1: pushing back from thirty two and trading down and no buyers.
- 22:07Speaker 1: The six trades right in front of him evaporated the market,
- 22:11Speaker 1: and that's why the Seahawks didn't trade back. I'm convinced
- 22:14Speaker 1: that they wanted price. But in the second round they
- 22:17Speaker 1: were going to trade down. They were going to get
- 22:18Speaker 1: a fourth round pick, say picked seven, eight, nine, ten
- 22:21Speaker 1: into the second round, and still get price.
- 22:24Speaker 4: From the two, five to three, the remaining three picks
- 22:26Speaker 4: should be all on defense. Depth, depth depth, Boaster, a
- 22:32Speaker 4: unit that's already elite, couldn't agree more.
- 22:36Speaker 2: Yeah, I think they're going to defense.
- 22:37Speaker 1: I think edge corner, maybe in a safety like you
- 22:41Speaker 1: talked about post Kobe Bryant and defensive tackle big Citrus Dominic.
- 22:47Speaker 2: Gory Gregg's favorite guy.
- 22:48Speaker 3: I'm for him now. I'm on his trade.
- 22:50Speaker 1: Three hundred and seventy plus pound guy who stayed four
- 22:54Speaker 1: years at Ames Iowa and turned down Williams to be Ames.
- 22:56Speaker 1: I if you haven't been Names Iowa man, and you
- 22:58Speaker 1: stayed four years and turned down millions of dollars, you
- 23:00Speaker 1: got something character.
- 23:02Speaker 3: There's some good stuff and loyalty going on there.
- 23:04Speaker 4: Yes, from the four two five, Greg, you did ask
- 23:08Speaker 4: the question about where the Seahars go next. Four to
- 23:11Speaker 4: five says easy, just hit on the next three picks cornerback, edge,
- 23:15Speaker 4: and maybe O line.
- 23:17Speaker 2: That's an interesting one. Yeah, And I'm guessing you're.
- 23:20Speaker 4: Four to two five you're not a big fan of
- 23:22Speaker 4: Anthony Bradford based on that O line selection.
- 23:25Speaker 2: But hey, I understand, I get it.
- 23:27Speaker 1: I'm predicting the Seahawks and the six round tomorrow take
- 23:29Speaker 1: and as Cooper the starting right card for four years
- 23:32Speaker 1: at the University of Miami, oh. Anthony Bradford is in
- 23:35Speaker 1: his final year of his contract this year.
- 23:38Speaker 2: That's true, Okay, all right, let me write that down.
- 23:41Speaker 1: Gregg's prediction two oh six Jidarian Price, This backstory of
- 23:46Speaker 1: his mom cancered and beating in him taking care of
- 23:48Speaker 1: his ten and six year old sisters of his aunt's
- 23:50Speaker 1: uncle's grandparents, go into all these chemotherapy sessions. This is
- 23:55Speaker 1: the stuff we want to hear. And the call from
- 23:58Speaker 1: Snyder and McDonald welcome him. Great journalism, the heartbeat of
- 24:01Speaker 1: these players for the Seahawks. Thanks, thanks Stan from Seattle.
- 24:05Speaker 1: That's exactly what I'm trying to get to and then
- 24:07Speaker 1: to share with all of you. We all see the
- 24:09Speaker 1: players on television. We all know by reading their stats
- 24:12Speaker 1: and their draft capsules who they are in the field
- 24:15Speaker 1: and the forty yard dash times.
- 24:17Speaker 3: Who are these people?
- 24:18Speaker 2: How'd they get here? What's their story?
- 24:20Speaker 1: And when I meet players for the first time in
- 24:22Speaker 1: any sport, and even in college when I worked at
- 24:24Speaker 1: the University of Washington for five years, I asked them,
- 24:27Speaker 1: how'd you get here?
- 24:28Speaker 3: What's your why?
- 24:30Speaker 1: And they love talking about because they all have a
- 24:32Speaker 1: unique story and it's their own and they owned it.
- 24:35Speaker 1: And a lot of them, let's face it, a lot
- 24:37Speaker 1: of them have stories of fractured homes. As his coach
- 24:41Speaker 1: Brent Whitson said to us, it's a fact of life.
- 24:43Speaker 1: Sixty percent of America have divorce rate in this kind
- 24:47Speaker 1: of have divorces. That's a divorce rate in this country.
- 24:50Speaker 1: And so a single mom raising there's a story there
- 24:54Speaker 1: and the inspiration and a young man who is motivated
- 24:57Speaker 1: by his mother, that's a story. And what did your mom,
- 25:01Speaker 1: how did she motivate you? That's a story.
- 25:03Speaker 2: My mom's ninety years old. She has heavy dementia.
- 25:06Speaker 1: She lives in suburban Detroit near my twin sister, my
- 25:08Speaker 1: twin sisters closer. She can help take care where she's
- 25:11Speaker 1: in a memory care facility. She doesn't know who I am.
- 25:14Speaker 1: I go back all the time. I go back a
- 25:16Speaker 1: couple times a year. I'm more like six, seven, eight
- 25:18Speaker 1: times a year, and she doesn't.
- 25:20Speaker 3: Know who I am. And when you have memories of your.
- 25:25Speaker 1: Mom and memories of your dad or any of your
- 25:28Speaker 1: parents and the family members, and when they're gone, they're gone,
- 25:32Speaker 1: and those memories and it's cool, it's cool to hear
- 25:37Speaker 1: their backstories. And it was really cool last night to
- 25:39Speaker 1: hear Jedari and Price how much he respects and admires
- 25:42Speaker 1: and is motivated insprited by his mother for what she
- 25:45Speaker 1: got through having breast cancer when he was twelve years old.
- 25:48Speaker 1: It's to me, that's the essence of sports writing. It's
- 25:51Speaker 1: not about the sports, it's about the people. I do
- 25:54Speaker 1: my best and my career and here at KGr to
- 25:57Speaker 1: bring you the story of who these people are as people.
- 26:00Speaker 1: You know him as players, you see them all the time.
- 26:01Speaker 1: You have the helmets and shoulder pads on, batting helmets
- 26:05Speaker 1: and gloves, But who are they as people? And I
- 26:07Speaker 1: hope if I'm successful in doing that at all, I
- 26:09Speaker 1: feel like I did my job.
- 26:11Speaker 4: From the four two five, I thought it was so
- 26:13Speaker 4: cool before Pittsburgh picked that they had a hype video
- 26:17Speaker 4: and played Renegade. Yeah yeah, how cool for their fan base.
- 26:20Speaker 4: This is why I think the draft should rotate around
- 26:23Speaker 4: all thirty two teams. I know the NFL wants to
- 26:25Speaker 4: make money, but I think it's a way for them
- 26:27Speaker 4: to give back to the fan base and show them
- 26:30Speaker 4: they value Them's picturing what it would be like to
- 26:33Speaker 4: have the draft here in Seattle.
- 26:35Speaker 2: What song would they play? Bitter Sweet Symphony?
- 26:37Speaker 3: Oh? I hope not.
- 26:40Speaker 1: Why that is such a bad song for a football environment?
- 26:43Speaker 3: Isn't it.
- 26:45Speaker 2: It's like you're down at Benlroya Hall or something.
- 26:48Speaker 1: How about Nirvana?
- 26:49Speaker 3: Well, I guess the crack in the corner of the
- 26:51Speaker 3: market on that.
- 26:52Speaker 4: Hey, Pearl Jams Johns some love here cracking, it's all right.
- 26:55Speaker 4: Trying to hype up the fan base in Seattle for
- 26:57Speaker 4: the draft, Pearl Jam Jimmy Hendricks, Jimmy Hendricks. That would
- 27:03Speaker 4: be yeah, trying to find a song that would spin
- 27:06Speaker 4: well for that. But I'm sure they can find something.
- 27:08Speaker 4: But you're not in on symphony. How you're you're out.
- 27:10Speaker 4: It's just so odd when the Seahawks come out.
- 27:13Speaker 1: They're a crescendo of a week of anticipation waiting for
- 27:17Speaker 1: this game.
- 27:18Speaker 2: Football gladiators, and you get bittersweet symphony in these violins playing.
- 27:26Speaker 1: Seriously, no, no, no, it's like we're going to a recital.
- 27:30Speaker 2: I mean, can they find nothing else?
- 27:34Speaker 1: I think I know the jenis I have heard one time.
- 27:36Speaker 1: The backstory why it's that? But come on, Hendricks is
- 27:40Speaker 1: great a legend here?
- 27:42Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 27:43Speaker 4: Those are we come up with the song for sure?
- 27:46Speaker 4: The draft was here? Oh okay, fair enough. Let me
- 27:49Speaker 4: think about that one for a minute. That's a good one. Four,
- 27:51Speaker 4: two five. Last one for me, Mohammed or Ponds at
- 27:54Speaker 4: sixty four? What do you think about those two? Greg,
- 28:02Speaker 4: I'm hesitating. Brandon Ceci is what I'm thinking about.
- 28:04Speaker 3: That was quick.
- 28:05Speaker 2: I'm stuck on him. It's okay as soon as their position.
- 28:09Speaker 1: Coach at South Carolina said that he knows all eleven
- 28:11Speaker 1: players on defense's responsibilities for every play in the playbook.
- 28:14Speaker 1: I said, Aha, that's Mike McDonald all over it. Not
- 28:17Speaker 1: the fact, not to mention the fact that he's a
- 28:18Speaker 1: great run stopper, plays inside and outside out the corner
- 28:22Speaker 1: could give multiplicity in McDonald's defense. And Woolan just left
- 28:25Speaker 1: for Philadelphia. That's who i'd pick at sixty four. The
- 28:28Speaker 1: question is will he be available? And then I'm gonna
- 28:31Speaker 1: keep pouting it. Big Citrus round three tonight. I will
- 28:34Speaker 1: be a happy man. If dominic Orians Big Citrus from
- 28:36Speaker 1: North Kansas City and Idaho Iowa State Ames Iowa, turned
- 28:40Speaker 1: down millions to stay in among the silos of Ames,
- 28:43Speaker 1: Iowa Northeast Iowa. If he comes to Seattle, I will
- 28:47Speaker 1: have a few more things to write about, for sure,
- 28:49Speaker 1: the loyalty of that I like your Jimmy Hendrick's idea
- 28:53Speaker 1: for it? Do we want the draft in Seattle?
- 28:55Speaker 4: Though I'm selfish, I really don't care for the traffic
- 28:59Speaker 4: so negative, but I guess that wouldn't sure have in Seattle?
- 29:06Speaker 4: A purple sheet? Can I produce from home? Do this
- 29:08Speaker 4: sow from the crib?
- 29:09Speaker 7: Is that?
- 29:10Speaker 4: Is that something you can make work? It's twenty twenty six, Oh,
- 29:12Speaker 4: by the draft twenty thirty? How about that four years
- 29:14Speaker 4: from now?
- 29:15Speaker 1: Speaking of purple sheet, how about Hendricks purple Hayes, there's
- 29:19Speaker 1: a backdraft to the drink ay that might be great.
- 29:21Speaker 3: Along the Watchdower.
- 29:22Speaker 1: Maybe come on now, those of you under thirty need
- 29:25Speaker 1: to look all this up. You don't even know who
- 29:26Speaker 1: Jimmy Hendricks may be. Go up to Capitol Hill, walk
- 29:29Speaker 1: the sidewalk on Broadway and you'll find out who Jimmy
- 29:31Speaker 1: HENDRICKX is. You told me I gotta go now, don't you.
- 29:37Speaker 1: He infernances at the Virginia Madson Athletic Center way before
- 29:40Speaker 1: I am, because he leaves before I do.
- 29:42Speaker 3: I just teasing him last night about that. He joined us.
- 29:44Speaker 1: Next on ninety three point three KJRFM, Welcome back, have

- 30:23Speaker 3: Of course, well you were dinos. I was writing about Jadarian.

- 30:37Speaker 1: What struck you about what happened last night, sir?
- 30:41Speaker 8: Well, I thought it was a there were so many
- 30:43Speaker 8: things going on, but just Seahawks centric. I thought they
- 30:46Speaker 8: probably I wanted to see a camera in the Seahawks
- 30:49Speaker 8: draft room when the Rams picked at thirteen and they
- 30:53Speaker 8: didn't take a guy like Ruben Bain to absolutely wreak
- 30:56Speaker 8: havoc on Seattle and everybody else in the NFC west
- 31:00Speaker 8: to pairing him with Fisk and Verse and those guys. Instead,
- 31:03Speaker 8: they took a project quarterback. And I'm assuming that you know,
- 31:06Speaker 8: you see all his reactions and draft rooms guys high
- 31:08Speaker 8: fiving and hugging and all happy and stuff. I bet
- 31:11Speaker 8: that's what the Seahawks, the forty nine ers, and the
- 31:13Speaker 8: Cardinals were doing at that point. And then you know,
- 31:16Speaker 8: then they get to thirty two and they see, you know,
- 31:19Speaker 8: what was it, five of the six picks right directly
- 31:21Speaker 8: ahead of them get moved within moments of them being
- 31:23Speaker 8: on the clock. And ye, and they take a player
- 31:28Speaker 8: that they wanted. I think that's the most important thing
- 31:31Speaker 8: that's there. They did take a player that they wanted,
- 31:34Speaker 8: but not where they wanted to take him, I think
- 31:37Speaker 8: is the best way to put it. Yeah, they would
- 31:39Speaker 8: never say that publicly, but the visuals of them at
- 31:43Speaker 8: the table were striking, to say the very least. So, yeah,
- 31:48Speaker 8: they got a really good They got the player they wanted.
- 31:50Speaker 8: They got a running back one. They filled the biggest
- 31:53Speaker 8: need they probably had on the roster. And and but
- 31:57Speaker 8: I think they were obviously at I don't think, I don't.
- 32:00Speaker 8: I mean, it just seemed certainly that they were disappointed
- 32:02Speaker 8: with the fact they couldn't move down and acquire more picks.
- 32:05Speaker 1: Yeah, that's a good point, is that they wanted Price,
- 32:08Speaker 1: they thought they could get him in the second round
- 32:10Speaker 1: plus gain a fourth round pick, and treading down and
- 32:13Speaker 1: doing so. And I don't think they meant to do it.
- 32:16Speaker 1: It probably wasn't the first thing to do. But the
- 32:17Speaker 1: forty nine ers screwed him and the Rams and indirectly
- 32:20Speaker 1: screwed them too well.
- 32:21Speaker 8: I mean, and you know, that's not just us saying that.
- 32:24Speaker 8: It's I think Andrews or Jackson. When they were running
- 32:28Speaker 8: the show Force back at the studios last night, they
- 32:31Speaker 8: counted at four different times Schneider brought up the fact
- 32:33Speaker 8: that that's what that they wanted to move down, So
- 32:36Speaker 8: you know, it's his words that were interpreting there, and
- 32:41Speaker 8: you know, and then also just the body language demeanor.
- 32:44Speaker 8: But yeah, I listen, take that aside. They got the
- 32:47Speaker 8: guy they wanted. They write a player that they got
- 32:49Speaker 8: a player they wanted. Ideally, you accumulate more draft picks,
- 32:53Speaker 8: and ideally, I guess the thing, I don't know, Greg.
- 32:58Speaker 7: I mean, we've all been doing it for a long time.
- 33:01Speaker 8: The whole.
- 33:03Speaker 7: Did you get the value for the guy and all that? Listen?
- 33:06Speaker 8: If then we'll use the RAMS. If they really wanted
- 33:08Speaker 8: Ty Simpson, which I think is really debatable, but if
- 33:11Speaker 8: they really, I mean I think one of them did.
- 33:12Speaker 8: I don't think the two of them did. Although Jeremy Fowler,
- 33:17Speaker 8: I'll tell you, man, it's a bad time to be
- 33:19Speaker 8: a national media person in the NFL. I don't know
- 33:23Speaker 8: what these men and women can do, but I look
- 33:27Speaker 8: at things so differently now. He just said a tweet
- 33:30Speaker 8: and wrote a story today. I'm going sideways here for
- 33:32Speaker 8: a second. But inside the RAMS decision to select ty
- 33:36Speaker 8: Simpson number thirteen, if Simpson was there, they were taking him. Okay, great,
- 33:44Speaker 8: you cannot convince me that Sean McVay wanted that guy.
- 33:47Speaker 7: There's no chance you can convince me that.
- 33:49Speaker 8: But you're gonna yeah, because you're in there, and you're
- 33:51Speaker 8: gonna pairt them and do as you're told, much like
- 33:54Speaker 8: you know Vrabel did what you know, told Rassini.
- 33:57Speaker 7: Stuff and on and on and on.
- 34:00Speaker 8: But you know, if they want, if, if less need
- 34:03Speaker 8: wanted him, whether it was thirteen or thirty three, I
- 34:06Speaker 8: guess they got their quarter. He got his quarterback. I
- 34:07Speaker 8: don't think the head coach wanted them. The Seahawks wanted
- 34:10Speaker 8: price and they got them. They just got them, probably
- 34:13Speaker 8: earlier than they wanted to.
- 34:15Speaker 1: You, sir, are feeling a little bit how the sausage
- 34:17Speaker 1: is made with national NFL.
- 34:18Speaker 2: What's reporting?
- 34:19Speaker 8: No, And we've known it for a while, and I've
- 34:22Speaker 8: seen so much crap over the years. It's made me
- 34:24Speaker 8: sick to my stomach. And I'm glad, honestly, the where
- 34:27Speaker 8: I think about it, I'm glad it's out. I'm glad
- 34:29Speaker 8: someone got caught. I'm glad someone got nailed. I really am.
- 34:32Speaker 8: And I like Diana, you know, she worked with us
- 34:35Speaker 8: for a long time. But the greasy stuff that we've
- 34:38Speaker 8: seen over the hell, you were there. You were part
- 34:40Speaker 8: of that whole thing in Carolina with Britt McHenry right in,
- 34:44Speaker 8: you know, like I watched her and Josina Anderson for years.
- 34:48Speaker 8: I just felt it just made me sick to my stomach.
- 34:51Speaker 2: Well, not just women, and not just if I want
- 34:53Speaker 2: to say that.
- 34:54Speaker 8: By swimming, but there were those that did use their
- 34:57Speaker 8: looks like and not necessarily sleep with somebody, but just
- 35:01Speaker 8: cuddling up in hey smile. I mean I now the
- 35:05Speaker 8: guys you do it a different way. They they snuggle
- 35:08Speaker 8: up to agents. Well, there's different ways that. There's different
- 35:12Speaker 8: ways to do it, and I get it.
- 35:14Speaker 7: I don't know.
- 35:15Speaker 8: It's I look at all these guys and I just
- 35:17Speaker 8: want to just get off social media.
- 35:19Speaker 7: But we can't. We're not allowed to. So whatever.
- 35:21Speaker 3: I'm kind of I don't do much.
- 35:25Speaker 7: You know, I don't do much. I'm tired of it.
- 35:27Speaker 8: But yeah, hey, let's let's circle back the why of
- 35:31Speaker 8: Jadarian Price. Pretty damn cool it is, and I thought
- 35:36Speaker 8: I'm gonna talk about this. I thought one of the
- 35:38Speaker 8: things that jumped out at me the word they used
- 35:40Speaker 8: over and over again, the loyalty work. I thought that
- 35:43Speaker 8: was really interesting dynamic in a day and age in
- 35:46Speaker 8: which players are transferring three or four times over the
- 35:49Speaker 8: course of four.
- 35:50Speaker 7: Or five years or whatever.
- 35:52Speaker 8: This guy was the he was what NIL or the
- 35:56Speaker 8: transfer portal should be about. Like, you're playing behind the
- 36:00Speaker 8: number three pick in the NFL draft and you have
- 36:03Speaker 8: immense talent, you should.
- 36:05Speaker 7: Be the guy that transfers.
- 36:06Speaker 8: You should be the guy that takes advantage of it, right, Craig,
- 36:08Speaker 8: And And instead this dude said, I got into notre
- 36:11Speaker 8: Dame because of my academics as well as my football,
- 36:15Speaker 8: and I'm sticking it out.
- 36:16Speaker 7: I'm playing for Marcus Freeman. That just tells you something.
- 36:20Speaker 8: Never mind all the stuff with the with his mom
- 36:22Speaker 8: and helping raise his sisters.
- 36:24Speaker 7: That just says something about this dude's character. I mean,
- 36:27Speaker 7: it really does.
- 36:29Speaker 3: Degree.
- 36:29Speaker 2: Yeah, there will be others. There are others on the board.
- 36:32Speaker 1: Yeah, that tonight Dominic Orange from Iowa State spayed all
- 36:35Speaker 1: four years, turned down millions, three hundred and seventy pounds,
- 36:38Speaker 1: those tackle. The Seahawks have those guys high on their board.
- 36:41Speaker 1: The loyalty character.
- 36:43Speaker 8: Yeah yeah, so, I mean I love that part of
- 36:46Speaker 8: the story.
- 36:46Speaker 7: And I'm just glad they got to RB one. Man.
- 36:49Speaker 8: I'm just glad they got that. They got that done,
- 36:51Speaker 8: and there's no we won't have to sit there and say, well,
- 36:54Speaker 8: what are they gonna do? Wait for the waiver root,
- 36:57Speaker 8: get another udfas or whatever that's going to be. So anyway, yeah, good, good, good,
- 37:02Speaker 8: good pick, just not when they wanted to.
- 37:04Speaker 3: I think that's right. What do you have going on
- 37:07Speaker 3: from the Seahawks.
- 37:08Speaker 8: We're gonna check in with uh, We'll talk to Ross Tucker,
- 37:12Speaker 8: who's part of the Westwood One broadcast, so here on
- 37:14Speaker 8: kJ R throughout the football season, the NFL on Westwood
- 37:17Speaker 8: One with Monday Night Thursday Night football, so the net football.
- 37:20Speaker 8: He does all those games, and we'll check in with
- 37:22Speaker 8: Ross coming up at twelve twenty one o'clock Danny or
- 37:26Speaker 8: one twenty Danie O'Neil will join us for his weekly visit.
- 37:28Speaker 8: He wrote about running backs and how he's been wrong
- 37:30Speaker 8: a few times trying to criticize Schnyder for taking running back.
- 37:33Speaker 8: So we'll have a good conversation with that, and then
- 37:36Speaker 8: we'll head upstairs for the two o'clock hour to the
- 37:39Speaker 8: draft room with all of us and we'll check in.
- 37:41Speaker 8: Roberrang will join me. Normally Fridays we have Rob on
- 37:44Speaker 8: the phone. Instead we'll have him live in person, looking
- 37:46Speaker 8: ahead to rounds two and three later today.
- 37:49Speaker 1: Doesn't Rob have a school teat sign.
- 37:52Speaker 8: He's a little vacation okay at little Yeah.
- 37:55Speaker 7: Today's the day have we taken.
- 37:56Speaker 1: On Ross Tucker, friend of the Army Navy game, and
- 37:59Speaker 1: he has a Princeton And he also reported last night
- 38:02Speaker 1: that Sean McVay has never met Ty Simpson. Simpson told
- 38:06Speaker 1: him that on his show last night.
- 38:08Speaker 7: Oh my god, so good, so good, oh good times.
- 38:15Speaker 7: Can't wait.
- 38:16Speaker 1: I will see you out there soon four h five

- 38:28Speaker 1: second and third round begin, starting at four o'clock this afternoon.
- 38:31Speaker 1: All our coverage all day, all weekend long, including with

- 38:40Speaker 2: Wall to wall draft coverage continues.
- 38:42Speaker 1: Seahawks are Day two picking around probably five thirty six
- 38:45Speaker 1: o'clock tonight at sixty fourth and round two.
- 38:48Speaker 3: He ends up next.
- 38:49Speaker 1: Chris and Greg, thank you appreciate it, thanks for listening.
