- 0:03Speaker 1: A lot to catch up on happy tuesday people it's
- 0:06Speaker 1: ft braun pierzinski kratz hey did you guys see we
- 0:10Speaker 1: had a perfect game over the weekend a perfecto in the.
- 0:14Speaker 2: Money leagues so it's pretty awesome i mean yeah it
- 0:18Speaker 2: never happens it's the first one in forever right since
- 0:21Speaker 2: 17 it's almost 10 years in between them it's crazy
- 0:25Speaker 2: it shows you how hard it is to do at
- 0:26Speaker 2: any level i don't care if you know Little League,
- 0:29Speaker 2: high school, college. I mean, they get progressively tougher, but
- 0:32Speaker 2: I mean, to throw on a triple A is pretty awesome.
- 0:35Speaker 1: First single pitcher, nine inning perfecto in the minor leagues
- 0:40Speaker 1: since 2017. So maybe there's been the shortened version. Maybe
- 0:44Speaker 1: there's been a little combined perfecto, which none of us
- 0:49Speaker 1: are huge fans of. Agreed. Nothing in the same category there. Good.
- 0:54Speaker 1: So 32-year-old Thomas Pannone. for Nashville against Durham. 93 pitches
- 1:00Speaker 1: and crats. J.J. Cooper tweeted that the first three-ball count
- 1:05Speaker 1: for him since the second inning was in the ninth inning.
- 1:07Speaker 1: Last batter, it's a 3-0 count. He pulled it off.
- 1:12Speaker 2: Oh, my gosh. That's impressive. And Durham's a great place
- 1:16Speaker 2: to hit, too. Usually they have a good lineup. I
- 1:19Speaker 2: think it's awesome.
- 1:21Speaker 3: A lot of people kind of hate on it because
- 1:23Speaker 3: of whatever, and.
- 1:24Speaker 2: It's like, dude, it's so tough to do And he
- 1:28Speaker 2: did it under 100 pitches, too.
- 1:30Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:32Speaker 1: Very impressive. And congrats to him, 32-year-old. Hope he lands
- 1:37Speaker 1: himself back up in the show. Nonetheless, awesome accomplishment.
- 1:41Speaker 2: All right.
- 1:41Speaker 1: There was one story that I think dominated the headlines
- 1:44Speaker 1: for days, really. And it's still going. Let's hit it.
- 1:54Speaker 2: That's what she said.
- 1:56Speaker 1: Yeah, that's what he said, presented by Lorraine Co. Let's
- 1:58Speaker 1: get into Doug Eddings' field and how he did not
- 2:05Speaker 1: like the way that the hat was tilted. And then
- 2:07Speaker 1: suddenly the hats are getting tilted all across Major League Baseball. So, AJ,
- 2:12Speaker 1: where do we begin? There's actually a lot to unpack here.
- 2:15Speaker 1: People want to know if he should be suspended. People
- 2:18Speaker 1: want to know why he accused someone else. Some thought
- 2:21Speaker 1: Hunter Goodman, but others thought maybe other Rockies hitters of saying, hey,
- 2:25Speaker 1: I'm not cool with a reliever making his debut with
- 2:28Speaker 1: a tilted hat that turned out to be fiction. Where
- 2:31Speaker 1: would you like to begin here with Doug Eddings trying
- 2:34Speaker 1: to take over the game a little bit too much?
- 2:36Speaker 2: First of all, I have, I love Doug Eddings. He's
- 2:38Speaker 2: my favorite umpire of all time. Um, so I can't
- 2:41Speaker 2: bad mouth Doug Eddings. Um, he, uh, it's interesting because
- 2:46Speaker 2: Fernando Rodney and there's been a lot of guys, Pedro
- 2:49Speaker 2: Stroop have worn their hat sideways and, It was always
- 2:52Speaker 2: kind of a thing. Now guys have gotten more and more.
- 2:55Speaker 2: Sonny Gray does it a little bit. Left-handed pitchers. There's
- 2:57Speaker 2: been some lefties that have kind of worn it a
- 2:59Speaker 2: little sideways. I don't know. You can't wear it backwards.
- 3:03Speaker 2: It has to be front-facing, so there's no rule against it.
- 3:08Speaker 2: Whether someone said something or not, I don't know. It's
- 3:11Speaker 2: just kind of funny that an umpire is now telling
- 3:13Speaker 2: people how to wear their hat and how to wear
- 3:15Speaker 2: their uniform. I thought we kind of got past this
- 3:18Speaker 2: once we got rid of the 51% black. Your shoes
- 3:21Speaker 2: had to be. Now you can wear any color shoes,
- 3:23Speaker 2: any color batting gloves, any color anything you kind of want, belts.
- 3:26Speaker 2: So I don't know. It's kind of funny that it
- 3:29Speaker 2: turned into such a big deal. I guess it didn't help.
- 3:33Speaker 2: I think he went out and didn't pitch very well either.
- 3:35Speaker 2: If he would have gone out and gone three up,
- 3:36Speaker 2: three down, it wouldn't have been a story, but he
- 3:37Speaker 2: didn't pitch very well. So was it his major league
- 3:39Speaker 2: debut or was it the fact that he was told
- 3:41Speaker 2: to straighten out his hat? I don't know.
- 3:44Speaker 3: I hope it wasn't the fact that he was told
- 3:45Speaker 3: to straighten out his hat because then it would be like,
- 3:48Speaker 3: something little like that, but everybody's nervous in their big
- 3:51Speaker 3: league debut. And for an umpire to, I don't want
- 3:55Speaker 3: to say ruin it, but to kind of take it
- 3:57Speaker 3: over in that sense, to kind of try to impose
- 4:00Speaker 3: his will on the situation. I just, I, that is
- 4:06Speaker 3: when players say, okay, this guy's a good umpire. This
- 4:10Speaker 3: guy's a bad umpire. It's rarely about strikes and balls
- 4:13Speaker 3: and strikes and how they're called. Like, you know, who's
- 4:16Speaker 3: the worst in that.
- 4:17Speaker 2: It's just the interaction with guys.
- 4:19Speaker 3: And unfortunately, this is kind of, not kind of, it
- 4:23Speaker 3: has really taken a life of its own. And it's
- 4:27Speaker 3: kind of like, you know, what is in the umpire's discretion? Okay, well,
- 4:33Speaker 3: why would you need to tell him to change the
- 4:36Speaker 3: way his hat is? I hear it on Twitter all
- 4:38Speaker 3: the time. Why do I need to turn my hat around?
- 4:39Speaker 3: Because I look like Limp Bizkit? Like, I get it.
- 4:42Speaker 3: There's people who think it's disrespectful or whatever, but Maybe
- 4:47Speaker 3: a second outing, not his first outing, or maybe when
- 4:49Speaker 3: he walks off the field, say something if you really
- 4:51Speaker 3: think it's that important.
- 4:54Speaker 1: I like the way you put it. I mean, you're
- 4:55Speaker 1: robbing the debut. You only get one of those for
- 4:58Speaker 1: Hansel Rincon. And Eddings did apologize, although with Ken Rosenthal's story,
- 5:03Speaker 1: it sounded like the league spoke to him. Then he
- 5:06Speaker 1: went out to apologize to the youngster a day later.
- 5:10Speaker 1: But what I thought was cool was that instantly everyone
- 5:14Speaker 1: had his back. from manager to players around Major League Baseball.
- 5:18Speaker 1: So let's start with Ali Marmal, who was booted from
- 5:20Speaker 1: this game shortly afterwards.
- 5:22Speaker 4: Obviously, the fireworks in the sixth inning.
- 5:24Speaker 2: What was up with you and Doug Eddings?
- 5:26Speaker 4: Yeah, some words exchanged there. Quite honestly, I thought it
- 5:29Speaker 4: was pretty embarrassing on his end. We have a kid
- 5:33Speaker 4: making his debut, and in between a net bat, he
- 5:37Speaker 4: tells them that he needs to fix his hat, and
- 5:39Speaker 4: the kid's not going to wear his hat like that
- 5:40Speaker 4: on my field. So last I checked, this was Coors Field.
- 5:43Speaker 4: So I took issues with it. And then the pitch
- 5:47Speaker 4: violation while I'm out there having a discussion, that's also
- 5:49Speaker 4: stupid in my opinion. So there's a lot of moving
- 5:51Speaker 4: parts to that one. At the end of the day,
- 5:53Speaker 4: I thought they handled it poorly, and I'd like.
- 5:54Speaker 2: An explanation at some point. Fair. Everything you said is fair.
- 6:02Speaker 1: Mic drop. That was a great answer from Ali. He
- 6:05Speaker 1: nailed it.
- 6:06Speaker 2: I mean, the fact that he got a pitch clock
- 6:08Speaker 2: violation is also hilarious because he's out there arguing with
- 6:10Speaker 2: the umpire. Like, come on. That's like the old video of,
- 6:13Speaker 2: what is it, the Cubs and the Cardinals? where the
- 6:15Speaker 2: manager's arguing and the pitcher throws the pitch and the
- 6:17Speaker 2: umpire calls a strike three while the manager's umpiring. I
- 6:21Speaker 2: think the hitter even tried to swing at it. It
- 6:23Speaker 2: was a crazy scene. Google it, kids, if you haven't
- 6:24Speaker 2: seen it. But, I mean, Ali nailed the answer. I
- 6:28Speaker 2: actually texted Ali a little bit. I'm like, hey, you
- 6:30Speaker 2: stop yelling at my buddy, Doug Eddings, and he was laughing.
- 6:33Speaker 2: You know, his response was like, that was– one of
- 6:35Speaker 2: the worst things I've ever seen. And to be honest
- 6:37Speaker 2: with you, I've never seen anything like this. I've seen
- 6:40Speaker 2: managers say stuff to players when they first come up
- 6:43Speaker 2: about stuff that they are doing or, you know, their hair,
- 6:46Speaker 2: their facial hair or their hat or whatever it is.
- 6:49Speaker 2: But I've never seen an umpire get involved in that
- 6:50Speaker 2: because usually they stay in their lane. So it was
- 6:52Speaker 2: just a weird thing. It was funny, but it gave
- 6:54Speaker 2: us something to talk about. I don't know that it'll
- 6:56Speaker 2: be a thing forever, but for the rest of this year,
- 6:59Speaker 2: for the Cardinals, it'll be something they can rally around.
- 7:02Speaker 3: I'm not totally in this camp that umpires, all umpires,
- 7:07Speaker 3: have vendettas against guys, but there's emotion because they're humans.
- 7:12Speaker 3: And this shows the emotion or dislike of how Rincon
- 7:18Speaker 3: was wearing his hat by Doug Eddings. Doug Eddings then
- 7:23Speaker 3: still had his emotion going and gave Oli Marmal... the
- 7:27Speaker 3: pitch clock violation while he was arguing. Like you could
- 7:31Speaker 3: tell there was emotions that were spilling over. And this
- 7:36Speaker 3: is the part where the robo umpire crowd says, see,
- 7:40Speaker 3: we just need robo umpires. We don't even need somebody
- 7:42Speaker 3: back there. Just like, let's calm that down. We just
- 7:47Speaker 3: need to know there are emotions and umpires need to
- 7:50Speaker 3: be held in check too and held accountable for what
- 7:52Speaker 3: they do.
- 7:55Speaker 1: Dehydration is real, people. So are quince electrolyte stick packs.
- 8:00Speaker 1: All of a sudden, you don't need some big bottle
- 8:03Speaker 1: to carry around. Just these little packets if you suddenly
- 8:06Speaker 1: feel like you need a little hydration. Raspberry salt, delicious.
- 8:09Speaker 1: Citrus salt, my personal favorite. And watermelon salt for those
- 8:13Speaker 1: watermelon lovers out there. Very solid. Just in your water bottle.
- 8:17Speaker 2: I'm a watermelon guy. It's quick, easy in the morning.
- 8:20Speaker 2: Wake up, feeling a little down. Throw some in there,
- 8:23Speaker 2: feeling great. Throw some in there because it'll keep that
- 8:24Speaker 2: high going. So stay on it. It hydrates you because
- 8:28Speaker 2: of that fermented rice, great tasting, and it makes you
- 8:32Speaker 2: feel better.
- 8:32Speaker 1: They're made in the USA, rigorously third-party tested. Give your
- 8:36Speaker 1: body what it really needs to stay hydrated. Quince.com slash

- 8:49Speaker 1: Drug Administration. This product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure,
- 8:52Speaker 1: or prevent any disease. Let's show some player support. Cardinals
- 8:58Speaker 1: players the next day had tilted caps, many of them
- 9:01Speaker 1: in the dugout. They turned it into a celebration for
- 9:04Speaker 1: the team too. FT did a nice job covering this
- 9:07Speaker 1: on the socials. So if you don't follow FT, by
- 9:09Speaker 1: the way, do that. Here's the Selly little tip. That's smooth.
- 9:14Speaker 1: I like that. AJ, teams are always looking for an
- 9:16Speaker 1: organic celebration on the base paths. Well, it's late in
- 9:20Speaker 1: the season, but they found one.
- 9:22Speaker 2: Agreed. That's what I said. For the rest of the year,
- 9:23Speaker 2: the Cardinals are the, what, 18 or 19 games they
- 9:25Speaker 2: have remaining around there. I mean, they'll have something to
- 9:28Speaker 2: rally behind. Yeah, you're always looking for something to do.
- 9:31Speaker 2: That starts with something simple. This wasn't simple. But now
- 9:34Speaker 2: the Cardinals have something. Doug Eddings, his name is in
- 9:37Speaker 2: the news again. I don't know. It's kind of funny.
- 9:42Speaker 2: It's awesome that all the players are doing this. I
- 9:45Speaker 2: don't know if they're doing it, but it's uncomfortable to
- 9:47Speaker 2: wear your hat like that for Some people. So, I mean,
- 9:50Speaker 2: you have to get a looser hat, right, Crouch? You
- 9:51Speaker 2: can't just wear your normal hat because normally your hat's
- 9:53Speaker 2: kind of tight. So you have to get a bigger hat.
- 9:56Speaker 2: It's tough.
- 9:57Speaker 3: Like you're going to have to really, I mean, to
- 10:00Speaker 3: put this, like, you just got to pull it down
- 10:04Speaker 3: hard if you're going to wear it to the side.
- 10:06Speaker 3: I mean, so many people have worn their hats to
- 10:08Speaker 3: the side. I would say 80% of left-handers wear their
- 10:12Speaker 3: hats to the side. Like, they don't know it. Like,
- 10:15Speaker 3: you talk to a lefty, and they'll be like, hey,
- 10:18Speaker 3: put your hat on straight, and they're like, Is.
- 10:21Speaker 2: It straight now?
- 10:24Speaker 3: It's like something wrong with them. They can't tell when
- 10:28Speaker 3: it's straight. They're like, figure it out.
- 10:33Speaker 1: I'm a lefty. You guys created everything for righty, so
- 10:36Speaker 1: we're just messed up in life.
- 10:39Speaker 2: John Lester used to wear his hat crooked. Nobody complained
- 10:41Speaker 2: about him. He used to wear his hat a little
- 10:42Speaker 2: bit crooked. Nobody said anything about him.
- 10:45Speaker 3: Abe Alvarez, back in the day, I think he had
- 10:48Speaker 3: some lost vision in his one eye, and his hat
- 10:50Speaker 3: would By the end of the game, his hat was
- 10:52Speaker 3: like down over his eye.
- 10:55Speaker 2: He made his debut with the Red Sox way back
- 10:57Speaker 2: in the day.
- 10:58Speaker 1: Should there be punishment for Doug?
- 11:03Speaker 2: I don't know. They're getting into a slippery slope here.
- 11:07Speaker 2: Punishment and all. I don't know. I mean, do we
- 11:11Speaker 2: know that– did one of the Rockies say something? Do
- 11:13Speaker 2: we know that? I mean, I know they've all denied it,
- 11:15Speaker 2: but do we.
- 11:15Speaker 1: Know– They deny it hard.
- 11:18Speaker 2: Okay.
- 11:19Speaker 1: Doug says they did.
- 11:21Speaker 2: So then why would Doug Eddings make that up? That
- 11:22Speaker 2: seems like something very strange. Does it not seem like
- 11:25Speaker 2: something strange to make up, Kratz? Like, I feel like
- 11:27Speaker 2: that's something strange. I felt like he was kind of
- 11:30Speaker 2: in a spot. And without anybody coming out, we have
- 11:34Speaker 2: to believe that maybe he lied and said somebody told him.
- 11:38Speaker 2: Because Hunter Goodman flat denied it. He was the one
- 11:42Speaker 2: that was like, it wasn't just like, no, I didn't.
- 11:44Speaker 2: Hunter Goodman said, uh-uh, I didn't ask anybody to change
- 11:48Speaker 2: anybody's hat direction.
- 11:50Speaker 1: Adamantly. Do you know why? He was getting a lot
- 11:53Speaker 1: of flack online. People are like, how dare you? Because
- 11:57Speaker 1: this really picked up quickly on social media.
- 12:00Speaker 2: But you have to know if you're Doug Eddings and
- 12:03Speaker 2: you come out and you say something like this, that
- 12:06Speaker 2: it's going to get back to the Rockies guys. So
- 12:08Speaker 2: if you make up that lie, then you know that
- 12:10Speaker 2: they're going to have to get questions about it. That's
- 12:11Speaker 2: why it seems like a strange thing to lie about
- 12:13Speaker 2: instead of just saying, I didn't like the way it looked.
- 12:16Speaker 2: I wanted him to fix it. There is a– There
- 12:18Speaker 2: is a uniform guide in every clubhouse. I mean, it's
- 12:22Speaker 2: loosely loose guide, but there is a uniform guide. So
- 12:25Speaker 2: he could have just said, oh, the uniform guide says
- 12:27Speaker 2: you have to wear your hat a certain way. But
- 12:29Speaker 2: to say the Rockies guys and name a player specifically
- 12:32Speaker 2: seems a little odd to me.
- 12:36Speaker 1: Also, I mean, there's a lot of other things to
- 12:39Speaker 1: worry about in a game. If you feel like you've
- 12:41Speaker 1: got so much time that you can worry about the
- 12:43Speaker 1: way someone's hat is and it's not a distraction, right?
- 12:47Speaker 1: We know there's certain things occasionally that someone's wearing or
- 12:51Speaker 1: doing that can actually be distracting to the hitter and
- 12:53Speaker 1: it's warranted. We see that usually a couple of times
- 12:55Speaker 1: a year. Right. But it's not like, you know, the
- 12:58Speaker 1: person had a laser pointer on or something.
- 13:00Speaker 2: Remember when Arthur Rhodes had the earrings too big and
- 13:02Speaker 2: Omar Vizquel complained his earrings were too big. You guys
- 13:04Speaker 2: remember that one? That was a funny one. I do
- 13:07Speaker 2: remember that.
- 13:08Speaker 1: Too much.
- 13:09Speaker 2: Too much. His earrings were distracting him. They were too large.
- 13:11Speaker 2: I thought that was kind of funny.
- 13:14Speaker 3: I can never say a hat has ever distracted me
- 13:18Speaker 3: while I was hitting.
- 13:19Speaker 2: I can never say.
- 13:22Speaker 1: Well, that's the point. I mean, players were pissed about it.
- 13:25Speaker 1: They're like, dude, it's not like you're the best at
- 13:28Speaker 1: calling balls and strikes in the world here. Just focus
- 13:30Speaker 1: on your job. So it's an easy way to unite
- 13:34Speaker 1: players really across Major League Baseball.
- 13:37Speaker 2: He used to be the best at throwing the ball
- 13:39Speaker 2: back to the pitcher hard. He used to throw the
- 13:40Speaker 2: ball back to the pitcher so hard.
- 13:42Speaker 1: He's got a good snap throw, Doug Eddings?
- 13:44Speaker 2: He used to. I don't know if he still does,
- 13:45Speaker 2: but he used to fire it back at the pitchers.
- 13:48Speaker 2: Doug Eddings, Wolfie.
- 13:51Speaker 3: Wolfie would throw knuckleballs back to the pitcher. I'm trying
- 13:56Speaker 3: to think there was one other.
- 13:57Speaker 1: That's all right. You'll come up with it. We've got
- 14:02Speaker 1: to jump, but if anyone has thoughts, and I'm sure
- 14:04Speaker 1: you do, that differ with us or... are similar to
- 14:08Speaker 1: what we're thinking, let us know. Otherwise, also make sure

- 14:32Speaker 1: Jesus Lizardo's pitching. One hour, 51 minutes for his first
- 14:36Speaker 1: career complete game and shutout. He's been actually one of
- 14:39Speaker 1: the more underrated pitchers this season. Yes, I know he's
- 14:43Speaker 1: on the Phillies and I know he's been around for
- 14:44Speaker 1: a minute, but people weren't talking about him as one
- 14:46Speaker 1: of the best in the game. Stuff-wise right now, he
- 14:48Speaker 1: looks like that. What are people saying in Philly, Kratz?
- 14:52Speaker 3: I mean, that Dombrowski gave an extension at the right
- 14:55Speaker 3: time because this guy would have been... getting absolutely paid
- 14:59Speaker 3: and even during a time when wheeler and christopher sanchez
- 15:03Speaker 3: haven't been perfect lizardo's really taken over that helm and
- 15:07Speaker 3: was perfect and needed to be perfect because grant holmes
- 15:10Speaker 3: on the other side was doing his thing against the
- 15:13Speaker 3: phillies lineup that's like hey you need to do some
- 15:16Speaker 3: damage against grant holmes guy's nasty man you guys figured
- 15:23Speaker 3: something out since he's gone to phillies that's i mean
- 15:25Speaker 3: that's that's it he He's gotten better. He was good,
- 15:27Speaker 3: and then he's just taken the next step, right, once
- 15:29Speaker 3: he's got to Philadelphia, especially this year.
- 15:32Speaker 2: His stuff, his strikes, everything is up. He is fun
- 15:35Speaker 2: to watch. Anytime he takes them out, he is fun
- 15:36Speaker 2: to watch. It was a big game for the Phillies.
- 15:38Speaker 2: It kind of kept them alive in the divisional race.
- 15:40Speaker 2: If they would have lost that game, they wouldn't have
- 15:42Speaker 2: split the series with the Braves. So 1-0 win, and
- 15:45Speaker 2: what was it, like an out? What was the time? 159?
- 15:47Speaker 2: What was the time?
- 15:50Speaker 4: 151.
- 15:50Speaker 5: 151.
- 15:50Speaker 2: I mean, anytime you get under a two-hour game, Jesus,
- 15:54Speaker 2: I need you to pitch next time I do a
- 15:55Speaker 2: Phillies game, please. Oh, getaway day.
- 15:58Speaker 3: Everybody was ready. Getaway day. Try to get on the plane.
- 16:04Speaker 1: And they let him eat 109 pitches. Shouldn't be anything
- 16:06Speaker 1: crazy this time of year. Two hits, 12 Ks. Lizardo, ballin'.
- 16:15Speaker 1: All right, let's look at the week. SeatGeek helping us
- 16:18Speaker 1: out and picking out some seats for us. I mean,
- 16:20Speaker 1: to me, there's two dudes coming back from injuries tonight
- 16:24Speaker 1: that are massive names. So if you happen to be
- 16:27Speaker 1: in those portions of the country, you would like to
- 16:29Speaker 1: see Aaron Judge and A.J. Corbin Burns finally is back
- 16:33Speaker 1: for the Diamondbacks, and he'll have to work his way up.
- 16:36Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, those are the two, right, that stand out.
- 16:41Speaker 2: Without really digging into the schedule, I mean, you want
- 16:43Speaker 2: to see Aaron Judge return? Yes. You want to see
- 16:45Speaker 2: Corbin Burns return? Absolutely. We're also getting deep into the
- 16:49Speaker 2: playoff stretch right now, where teams, every game kind of matters,
- 16:52Speaker 2: and I know you might say, oh, this matchup or
- 16:54Speaker 2: this matchup, but I mean, the White Sox have a
- 16:56Speaker 2: chance to really– I mean, not that the Pirates are
- 16:58Speaker 2: in it, but they could really crush them. Guardians, Orioles
- 17:01Speaker 2: for that last wild card spot, even after the Orioles
- 17:04Speaker 2: have got smashed by the Red Sox this past weekend.
- 17:08Speaker 2: So there's a lot of good Astros-Phillies. That's a good
- 17:11Speaker 2: one just because the Astros are trying to hang on
- 17:12Speaker 2: to the West. So, I mean, there's a lot. Rays-Braves
- 17:15Speaker 2: is another great series this week. There's a ton of
- 17:17Speaker 2: great matchups this week that have playoff implications all over them.
- 17:21Speaker 3: The one I'm going to is definitely the Orioles– Orioles,
- 17:24Speaker 3: while I'm not saying they're going to get back into it,
- 17:26Speaker 3: they have a chance to now kind of be the spoiler,
- 17:30Speaker 3: be the team that could beat the Guardians and allow
- 17:33Speaker 3: another team to get in. I think three games at
- 17:35Speaker 3: this point, the way they're playing, I'm not saying it's
- 17:39Speaker 3: pointless to make the postseason, but it just seems like
- 17:43Speaker 3: they're not going to do it, and I think they
- 17:45Speaker 3: can play a role that could do some damage to
- 17:48Speaker 3: the Guardians' season just in this series.
- 17:51Speaker 1: Yeah, they won the first one. in that set and
- 17:53Speaker 1: more to go for Baltimore after losing six in a
- 17:56Speaker 1: row and scoring 13 runs during that span. They got
- 17:59Speaker 1: back on the board. Twins are done too. You know,
- 18:02Speaker 1: we saw them kind of fall apart again over the weekend.
- 18:06Speaker 1: It really, in the second half, it's been the last
- 18:07Speaker 1: couple of years, right? I mean, AJ, the White Sox.
- 18:10Speaker 2: Did what they had to do. They don't add reinforcements.
- 18:12Speaker 2: They don't add reinforcements.
- 18:14Speaker 1: Well, they claim they did. They tried. They tried very
- 18:17Speaker 1: lightly this straight deadline to add a little bit to
- 18:20Speaker 1: their bullpen. Their bullpen was really bad. It got a
- 18:22Speaker 1: little better But overall, there's just not enough there. Buxton's hurt.
- 18:25Speaker 1: Organizational depth isn't there. So at least the owner can
- 18:29Speaker 1: say that he tried this year and they didn't sell
- 18:31Speaker 1: a third of the team. All right, the code for you, 10%

- 18:46Speaker 1: so that you can use it now or you can
- 18:48Speaker 1: use it later. Atta boy, Ronald Acuna Jr.
- 18:56Speaker 5: Wow.
- 18:56Speaker 1: He was the ultimate heel in Philadelphia. A curtain call
- 19:01Speaker 1: for himself. Philly fans called for it via booze. And
- 19:05Speaker 1: Acuna had a big series. It ends up being a
- 19:07Speaker 1: series split, Kratz, so we didn't really do much in
- 19:10Speaker 1: the standings. But what was the temperament of Philly fans
- 19:14Speaker 1: for Ronald Acuna Jr. stepping foot in there and acting
- 19:17Speaker 1: like he owned the place?
- 19:20Speaker 3: I mean, not acting like he did own the place
- 19:22Speaker 3: for the first three games. They've had an issue, and
- 19:26Speaker 3: I think some of it's been riled up by, you know, L.A.
- 19:29Speaker 3: on the radio, Kruk on TV, like some of the
- 19:33Speaker 3: older guys that don't appreciate the trot around the bases,
- 19:38Speaker 3: the gimmicks at each base, the arms flapping.
- 19:41Speaker 2: Every team does it.
- 19:43Speaker 3: This goes way back to like at a boy Harper
- 19:47Speaker 3: with the Orlando RCA stuff. Like there is a rivalry
- 19:53Speaker 3: that is not just renewed, but back in it because
- 19:57Speaker 3: the Phillies aren't that far aren't, aren't as ahead as
- 20:00Speaker 3: they were last year. The Braves and the Phillies are
- 20:03Speaker 3: probably the, you know, top four best teams in the
- 20:07Speaker 3: National League. And so it gets a little extra heated
- 20:10Speaker 3: in September. Phillies fans want to win. They didn't win early.
- 20:15Speaker 3: They squeaked the last one out.
- 20:17Speaker 2: So you know what? Ronald Acuna Jr.
- 20:20Speaker 3: Is now enemy number one, except I still don't think
- 20:24Speaker 3: he's the best, most potent player on that team. Although
- 20:27Speaker 3: this series, he stepped up and came up big time
- 20:30Speaker 3: for the Braves.
- 20:32Speaker 1: Who's the most potent?
- 20:33Speaker 3: I think Matt Olsen's having– he's going to be the MVP,
- 20:36Speaker 3: and I think he has the ability to do so
- 20:39Speaker 3: much damage.
- 20:41Speaker 2: I get it. Acuna can run. He can do– you know,
- 20:43Speaker 2: he's that.
- 20:43Speaker 3: Wild horse out there. But I think Olsen is– should
- 20:49Speaker 3: be their most feared threat in the lineup right now.
- 20:54Speaker 2: I can't argue that. I can't argue that. But it's fun.
- 20:56Speaker 2: It's fun. We want them to have fun, right? Acuna's
- 20:59Speaker 2: having fun. He's playing to the Philly fans. The Philly
- 21:01Speaker 2: fans eat it up. It's fun. You want to be,
- 21:04Speaker 2: you want to be the heel. You want to be
- 21:05Speaker 2: the bad guy. If that gets you going, Ronald, then
- 21:07Speaker 2: do it. And he did it perfectly. I think this
- 21:08Speaker 2: was awesome. It's awesome with the game. We always, we
- 21:12Speaker 2: always want this, right? We always ask for this. We
- 21:14Speaker 2: want fans and people to players to be more open
- 21:16Speaker 2: and more honest. Well, here he was, he was showing it.
- 21:19Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 21:19Speaker 2: And I don't think the emotion, right.
- 21:22Speaker 1: AJ, I mean, you obviously can speak to anything bad. That's,
- 21:25Speaker 1: that's my question to you is like, I don't think
- 21:27Speaker 1: he did anything wrong and he wasn't trying to show
- 21:29Speaker 1: up the, Philly dugout either it's not like he's pointing
- 21:32Speaker 1: and screaming at the Philly dugout he's just he's kind
- 21:34Speaker 1: of playing to the fans PCA has kind of done
- 21:38Speaker 1: this now in some spots especially in LA with his
- 21:41Speaker 1: words right becoming a heel out there in terms of
- 21:44Speaker 1: calling out the fans so my question let's let's run
- 21:47Speaker 1: the sound from Zach Wheeler and then I'll throw it
- 21:49Speaker 1: back to you because my question is wouldn't Bryce Harper
- 21:52Speaker 1: do potentially the same thing if fans were giving it
- 21:54Speaker 1: to him and he had a big three run home
- 21:57Speaker 1: run to get his team back in it here's Wheeler
- 21:59Speaker 1: first on And obviously there were multiple homers here from
- 22:01Speaker 1: Acuna over the weekend, but the Phillies not loving the
- 22:04Speaker 1: way he was celebrating.
- 22:06Speaker 2: We've seen him do his home run trap before, but
- 22:08Speaker 2: how much did that bother you tonight? And did that
- 22:11Speaker 2: motivate you moving forward in the rest of your outing?
- 22:14Speaker 5: Um, I mean, it doesn't really bother me all that much, uh,
- 22:19Speaker 5: do whatever he wants in a home run. So, um,
- 22:23Speaker 5: I mean, it's up to him to do what he wants.
- 22:26Speaker 5: Our guy just rounds the bases. It's 50 years.
- 22:28Speaker 1: So, um, but do whatever he wants you're able to
- 22:33Speaker 1: so that was saturday 4-2 win for the phillies wheeler
- 22:36Speaker 1: didn't even give up a hit after the acuna home
- 22:39Speaker 1: run he allowed so aj he can do whatever he
- 22:41Speaker 1: wants blah blah blah but our guy hits 50 and
- 22:43Speaker 1: doesn't do any of that i'm like okay so then
- 22:46Speaker 1: you didn't love it and that's fine but i don't
- 22:49Speaker 1: think he did anything wrong no and in.
- 22:52Speaker 2: Zach wheeler we love zach wheeler i love zach wheeler
- 22:54Speaker 2: i think he's awesome but if he would have pitched
- 22:56Speaker 2: bad after that, then his answer would have been different,
- 22:58Speaker 2: but he pitched really well. So of course he's going
- 22:59Speaker 2: to say it didn't bother him. You know, it may
- 23:01Speaker 2: be motivated him a little bit in, in the thing
- 23:03Speaker 2: about his guy hits 50 and runs. I mean, you know,
- 23:05Speaker 2: Bryce Harper does the thing to the, to the bullpen.
- 23:08Speaker 2: He's the one that started that, right. When he runs
- 23:10Speaker 2: around the bases every time.
- 23:11Speaker 4: Right.
- 23:12Speaker 2: I mean, Bryce Harper, he has guys on his team
- 23:14Speaker 2: that do stuff. So you can't really say that. And
- 23:17Speaker 2: Kyle Schwarber is just different. He hits 50 and he
- 23:19Speaker 2: runs around the bases. Cool. I mean, there's guys in
- 23:21Speaker 2: their career that hit 50 and ran around the bases.
- 23:23Speaker 2: There's guys that hit 10 and, and flip their bat.
- 23:25Speaker 2: I mean, one of the all-time Phillies, Oduble Herrera, had
- 23:28Speaker 2: more antics than anyone of all time, right? But it
- 23:31Speaker 2: is what it is. I mean, guys do their own thing.
- 23:33Speaker 2: They always have their own skits, and that's fine. That's
- 23:35Speaker 2: the way the game has gone. It shouldn't bother you
- 23:37Speaker 2: because everyone has their own skits. The world is traveling.
- 23:40Speaker 2: Strikes a guy out to end the game, he just
- 23:41Speaker 2: stands there and stares at home plate, right? And then
- 23:43Speaker 2: there's guys who do fist pumps and all kinds of stuff.
- 23:45Speaker 2: So every guy has their own skit. It's all about
- 23:47Speaker 2: the way you handle it. In today's game, you can't
- 23:49Speaker 2: really get mad at anybody because nobody's allowed to, and
- 23:51Speaker 2: that's the way it's played, and that's the way we
- 23:53Speaker 2: want it.
- 23:55Speaker 3: I mean, it definitely made Wheeler mad. Or I should say,
- 24:01Speaker 3: it's noticed because of the last part of his comment.
- 24:04Speaker 3: The fact that he's like, you know, our guy does it.
- 24:06Speaker 3: But everybody has their own way of doing things. And
- 24:11Speaker 3: people say, well, it's ruining the game. How is it
- 24:13Speaker 3: ruining the game? It's not right or wrong. However you
- 24:16Speaker 3: do it, it's not right or wrong. Like, you probably
- 24:20Speaker 3: shouldn't celebrate if you're down 7-1 and hitting a home
- 24:24Speaker 3: run that, you know, you're now losing 7-2.
- 24:27Speaker 2: But you know what?
- 24:27Speaker 3: It's really tough to hit a home run in the
- 24:29Speaker 3: big leagues. So if you want to celebrate it a
- 24:31Speaker 3: certain way, make it be genuine. That's my biggest thing.
- 24:36Speaker 3: And people are like, oh, ruin it for the kids.
- 24:39Speaker 3: Believe me, I coach kids. I got dudes that have
- 24:41Speaker 3: never hit one home run that are practicing home run
- 24:45Speaker 3: celebrations before the season starts. I'm like, We don't even
- 24:50Speaker 3: hit homers on these small fields. How are we practicing
- 24:54Speaker 3: this stuff? But it's part of the game that if
- 24:57Speaker 3: people want it to stop, then you know exactly what
- 25:01Speaker 3: you need to do as a pitcher to make it stop.
- 25:03Speaker 3: And I think it's not right or wrong. It's what
- 25:06Speaker 3: it is, and it's going to make people feel a
- 25:08Speaker 3: type of way.
- 25:10Speaker 1: And hey, for Braves fans, biggest thing you should be
- 25:12Speaker 1: excited about, Ronald Acuna Jr. looking like that, where he
- 25:15Speaker 1: can take over a series. What?
- 25:17Speaker 2: That's agreed, 100%. The fact that he did what he
- 25:19Speaker 2: did and was back to having fun and being Ronald
- 25:22Speaker 2: Acuna that we had seen in the past, that was
- 25:24Speaker 2: a big deal if you're the Braves going forward. You
- 25:26Speaker 2: need him to finish strong and then go into the
- 25:29Speaker 2: postseason if you're going to make a deep run hot.
- 25:31Speaker 1: Yeah, like scouting report lately was four seamers. He was
- 25:34Speaker 1: brutal against them for a little stretch, and then now
- 25:37Speaker 1: he's smoking them. So you're like, uh-oh, Acuna's getting the heaters.
- 25:41Speaker 1: Is the timing right at the right time for him?
- 25:44Speaker 2: By the way, I mean, you know, you can say
- 25:46Speaker 2: whatever you want, but the Braves splitting this series was
- 25:48Speaker 2: just as important as the Phillies splitting this series because
- 25:50Speaker 2: four games checked off the schedule, and, you know, they
- 25:53Speaker 2: didn't gain any ground. So now we're still in a
- 25:55Speaker 2: good spot. You know, Sale pitched great. You know, it
- 25:58Speaker 2: was actually a really well-pitched series by both sides, and
- 26:02Speaker 2: the Braves checked four games off the schedule head-to-head and
- 26:05Speaker 2: didn't lose any ground, just like the Phillies didn't make
- 26:07Speaker 2: up any ground.
- 26:10Speaker 1: Gratz football season is back, and Fabletics knows all about it.
- 26:15Speaker 1: They just paired with the number one wide receiver in
- 26:17Speaker 1: the NFL, Jamar Chase, on a new collection.
- 26:21Speaker 3: Yeah, he's going to catch some footballs. You're going to
- 26:23Speaker 3: catch some deals when you go to Fabletics because this
- 26:26Speaker 3: is all affordable stuff, but the quality is through the roof. Comfortability,
- 26:31Speaker 3: like it is ridiculous.
- 26:33Speaker 2: Go for it.
- 26:34Speaker 1: Yeah, it's about feeling good all day and you need
- 26:36Speaker 1: to feel more comfortable in your athletic clothing since you're
- 26:39Speaker 1: wearing it all day. It's not just at the gym
- 26:41Speaker 1: anymore and Fabletics is spot on. with that theory shop

- 27:01Speaker 1: time offer so do not wait again that's fabletics.com slash
- 27:06Speaker 1: f-o-u-l for 70 to 80 off everything as a new
- 27:10Speaker 1: vip Wow, Brendan Donovan going through it from tried and
- 27:13Speaker 1: true on X, crediting Daniel Kramer, who wrote the story.
- 27:17Speaker 1: But Donovan said, I get on the field, I feel
- 27:19Speaker 1: like I'm going to throw up. Then I take around balls.
- 27:21Speaker 1: I have to take every other one because I'm going
- 27:22Speaker 1: to throw up. So that's kind of been the process
- 27:24Speaker 1: to this point. AJ, man, this Mariners season is a disaster.
- 27:29Speaker 2: Yeah, it's not Brendan Donovan's fault. I mean, but wow,
- 27:33Speaker 2: this sounds awful. This sounds like one of those things
- 27:35Speaker 2: where you're like, will he ever be okay? I mean,
- 27:39Speaker 2: it's taken a long time. Well, I mean, I never
- 27:40Speaker 2: had any of this stuff, so I don't know. But
- 27:42Speaker 2: I've heard stories about it. Sounds awful.
- 27:45Speaker 1: Yeah. Concussion on August 22nd. Batting cages pregame got not clocked.
- 27:52Speaker 1: And yeah, at this point, Kratz, I mean, they're days
- 27:55Speaker 1: away from being like, dude, just shut it down. We're
- 27:58Speaker 1: not in this anyway.
- 28:00Speaker 3: I mean, we know so much about concussion protocol, about
- 28:03Speaker 3: getting back. Most of the time, it's over the top.
- 28:05Speaker 3: But when you get stuff like this, when you have
- 28:07Speaker 3: symptoms like this, I'm not even fearful of this season.
- 28:12Speaker 3: I'm fearful of what AJ said. Like, how long does
- 28:15Speaker 3: this last? Because when you get this, you've got to
- 28:20Speaker 3: get it out.
- 28:20Speaker 2: You have to.
- 28:21Speaker 3: Completely heal from it before you can just ramp it
- 28:24Speaker 3: up and be 100% because you never want this to linger.
- 28:28Speaker 1: Mm-hmm. What an awful, awful series for them. You dropped
- 28:33Speaker 1: the first three against the A's. Then Brian Wu shoved,
- 28:36Speaker 1: but kind of felt like too little too late. You
- 28:38Speaker 1: got to take three out of four against them. You
- 28:40Speaker 1: lose three out of four. You're like, whoa, that's how
- 28:42Speaker 1: you're starting the soft spot on the schedule? Was this
- 28:44Speaker 1: team really capable of winning 10 games in a row
- 28:46Speaker 1: or something? I doubt it.
- 28:47Speaker 2: There's not enough time. The problem is they've gone too
- 28:49Speaker 2: far behind now.
- 28:51Speaker 1: Yeah, too many teams in front, too.
- 28:54Speaker 2: Good moves in the offseason, not enough.
- 28:59Speaker 1: Hey, did you guys see this? Jake Cronenworth has been
- 29:03Speaker 1: trying to hit an opposite field home run. No, he's
- 29:05Speaker 1: well aware of it. He's talked about it, guys. And
- 29:07Speaker 1: in fact, I went back to look up my nerdy research. Kratz,
- 29:10Speaker 1: you know my nerdy notes I keep. He actually had
- 29:12Speaker 1: one this March in spring training. It was a windy day.
- 29:17Speaker 1: He got to the left center field berm there. So
- 29:19Speaker 1: that was the first one I think he had done
- 29:21Speaker 1: in spring training or majors, but hadn't gotten it in
- 29:25Speaker 1: a regular season game. And then Got one here over
- 29:28Speaker 1: the weekend. We just showed the chart. AJ, first opposite
- 29:31Speaker 1: field homer. And it was a cheapie, but it got there.
- 29:35Speaker 2: Doesn't matter. It's a homer. Cheapie or not, it's a homerun.
- 29:38Speaker 2: Ask Trevor if you like giving up cheapies or matter.
- 29:40Speaker 2: It doesn't matter. It's a homer. It's pretty awesome. I
- 29:43Speaker 2: think if you look at my chart, I didn't have
- 29:45Speaker 2: many opposite field homers either. Most of mine were pull.
- 29:48Speaker 2: Today's game, most of them were pull. Look at Isak Faraday's.
- 29:50Speaker 2: All the homeruns he's hit, they're all pull. So this
- 29:52Speaker 2: is kind of what they're teaching now. But Krohn's zone,
- 29:55Speaker 2: he snuck one in there. So good job, Krohn's zone.
- 29:59Speaker 2: You know what sucks about a cheap home run, AJ? Nothing.
- 30:03Speaker 2: Absolutely nothing. It's like a broken bat base hit. That's
- 30:06Speaker 2: a knock. That's a knock.
- 30:08Speaker 3: But it is kind of crazy. I mean, but the
- 30:12Speaker 3: reality is most of your homers are going to be
- 30:14Speaker 3: to the poolside, like AJ said. But everybody's like, oh, man,
- 30:18Speaker 3: he's got oppo power. Okay, well, let's see him actually
- 30:21Speaker 3: dip into it here. You know, the short porch will
- 30:26Speaker 3: get you. That's why I think... A place like Yankee
- 30:30Speaker 3: Stadium is actually really, really good for a right-handed hitter
- 30:34Speaker 3: and not as like, oh, this is the best for
- 30:37Speaker 3: a lefty. Because pull swings consistently don't work out well.
- 30:42Speaker 3: You want to stay to the big parts of the ballpark.
- 30:44Speaker 3: And then when you can stay on a baseball a
- 30:46Speaker 3: little bit longer for a righty and it's a pop-up
- 30:48Speaker 3: to right and that goes out, that's where I think
- 30:51Speaker 3: there's super value. Or David Ortiz, any lefty in Fenway.
- 30:55Speaker 3: Those things are sneaky, make you a better hitter overall.
- 31:01Speaker 2: True.
- 31:01Speaker 1: There are some guys who have thrived in the opposite field,
- 31:04Speaker 1: power department, where you see the spray chart and it's
- 31:07Speaker 1: really balanced.
- 31:08Speaker 2: It doesn't happen often. No, but now.
- 31:11Speaker 1: It's becoming more of a lost art. No? I mean,
- 31:14Speaker 1: we're seeing less and less of it than we used to.
- 31:16Speaker 1: You think we see the same amount?
- 31:18Speaker 2: No, we see more pull now because that's what everyone's
- 31:20Speaker 2: talking about. Yeah, more pull. That's what they promote. No, 100%.
- 31:24Speaker 2: But I'm saying, even back in the day, though, I
- 31:26Speaker 2: remember Jim Tomey was the guy that had the most
- 31:28Speaker 2: off-ball power I ever remember, right? But most guys still
- 31:32Speaker 2: back then, most home runs are pole-side mistakes. When you
- 31:35Speaker 2: talk to most hitters, and Pete Alonzo said this, you
- 31:38Speaker 2: catch a breaking ball out front, that's how you hit
- 31:40Speaker 2: a home run. It's a mistake.
- 31:53Speaker 1: Better than Bosco is for a few minutes. We give
- 31:55Speaker 1: a little love to the Red Sox back on a
- 31:57Speaker 1: roll again, AJ. I mean, they took all four against
- 32:00Speaker 1: the Orioles. They probably buried their season and the Orioles
- 32:04Speaker 1: pissed them off. Blaze Alexander kept trying to rile up
- 32:07Speaker 1: the crowd. It was IKF mocking him on the bases.
- 32:12Speaker 1: Sonny Gray also had some words about him too. He
- 32:15Speaker 1: was like, I don't know. He basically was like kind
- 32:17Speaker 1: of acting like, I don't know who that guy is, but,
- 32:18Speaker 1: and I don't know what he was doing, but I
- 32:20Speaker 1: don't like it.
- 32:22Speaker 2: It was kind of what Trevor May said, remember, when
- 32:24Speaker 2: he said that Pete Alonzo told him when Michael Harris
- 32:28Speaker 2: hit the ball and got a single. Or when Zach
- 32:32Speaker 2: Wheeler was like, yeah, it didn't really bother me. And
- 32:34Speaker 2: then Sonny Gray was like, I don't know who that
- 32:36Speaker 2: dude is, right, but what is he doing? Anyways, the
- 32:42Speaker 2: Red Sox ended the Orioles season. I'm sorry. They went
- 32:44Speaker 2: into that series four games, had a chance to gain
- 32:47Speaker 2: some ground. And Adley Rutschman, first game, went off the
- 32:50Speaker 2: game I did, the two homers. And then after that,
- 32:52Speaker 2: the Red Sox just literally just beat their ass and
- 32:55Speaker 2: ended the Orioles season. So we can probably tombstone the
- 32:58Speaker 2: Orioles after the four-game series against the Red Sox. It
- 33:02Speaker 2: just put too much space between them and the rest
- 33:03Speaker 2: of the teams.
- 33:05Speaker 1: Does Blaise Alexander have a little bit of Sean Rodriguez
- 33:08Speaker 1: in him? He's been in a few things this year,
- 33:11Speaker 1: hasn't he?
- 33:13Speaker 2: What else was he in?
- 33:15Speaker 1: He was in another thing, at least one other thing.
- 33:17Speaker 1: And I'm not saying that in a bad way. I mean, obviously,
- 33:19Speaker 1: Sean Rodriguez was incredibly entertaining. from a fan perspective, right?
- 33:25Speaker 1: There was something going on. He was in the middle
- 33:26Speaker 1: of it. He was fiery. He might want to get
- 33:29Speaker 1: involved in a fight. You'd always see him getting held back.
- 33:32Speaker 1: Blaze was getting held back in this case with the
- 33:34Speaker 1: benches clearing. So one of those guys sometimes can spark
- 33:37Speaker 1: you in the right way. Hey, the Red Sox have
- 33:39Speaker 1: that guy.
- 33:39Speaker 2: Congrats.
- 33:40Speaker 1: Wilson Contreras, I think has been a necessary spark at
- 33:44Speaker 1: times to wake the team up. Yeah. Yeah.
- 33:47Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah. No, I get it. I get it. Maybe
- 33:49Speaker 2: a little over the top.
- 33:51Speaker 3: I think Wilson was a little over the top too,
- 33:52Speaker 3: but I think he was trying to feel out his
- 33:54Speaker 3: new role where he was never really a leader other
- 33:56Speaker 3: times and then kind of was the veteran leader on
- 33:59Speaker 3: this team. So I think Wilson Contreras is a little
- 34:02Speaker 3: bit different. I love this stuff.
- 34:04Speaker 2: I love it.
- 34:05Speaker 3: Like, it's still– like, yes, I get it. The Red
- 34:07Speaker 3: Sox are way better than the Orioles this year, but
- 34:09Speaker 3: it's still a division rival. Like, it doesn't matter where
- 34:12Speaker 3: you're at. When you're playing division rivals, when you're playing
- 34:15Speaker 3: teams within your division– Things get heated on.
- 34:18Speaker 2: Both sides, whether it's a player that's been in the
- 34:21Speaker 2: league for a long time or somebody like Blaze who
- 34:24Speaker 2: hasn't been in the league as long.
- 34:28Speaker 1: I got a good stat for you, too, on the
- 34:30Speaker 1: Red Sox. Or, sorry, on the Orioles. Their number, I'm
- 34:33Speaker 1: just trying to make sure I get it exactly right.
- 34:35Speaker 1: I think I have it 6 and I think it's
- 34:38Speaker 1: 6 and 17 against the Red Sox and the Yankees
- 34:42Speaker 1: this year for Baltimore.
- 34:43Speaker 2: That's not a good number. By the way, I know
- 34:46Speaker 2: they're only three games out, but this weekend felt like
- 34:49Speaker 2: their chance to really get back into it. I know
- 34:52Speaker 2: they beat the Guardians last night as a team they're chasing, too.
- 34:56Speaker 2: Maybe they're not officially done, but it just feels like
- 34:59Speaker 2: when you get swept in that, you're kind of just
- 35:02Speaker 2: out of it. They could sweep the Guardians and, who knows,
- 35:05Speaker 2: be right back in this thing.
- 35:06Speaker 1: That's true. That's the team they're chasing.
- 35:11Speaker 2: By the way, Tanner Bybee's pitching tonight. He's 5-15.
- 35:14Speaker 5: 5-15?
- 35:14Speaker 2: He's got a 4 ERA. He's barely got a 4 ERA.
- 35:21Speaker 2: Score some runs for the guy, please.
- 35:24Speaker 1: Right, on a decent team, a team that's lacking some offense.
- 35:27Speaker 1: It's a pitching team.
- 35:30Speaker 2: 2003 Tigers were Roth and Bonderman. Roth lost 20 and Bonderman,
- 35:34Speaker 2: I think, lost 19 on a team that was just
- 35:37Speaker 2: completely awful. The Guardians are over. 500. Yeah, right.
- 35:42Speaker 1: That Tigers team was 100 loss plus. This Guardians team,
- 35:45Speaker 1: it's pitching and defense. But, yeah, maybe they get some
- 35:48Speaker 1: runs on the board. If they don't, they're going to
- 35:50Speaker 1: be in some trouble again. I mean, all of a sudden,
- 35:52Speaker 1: that would, what, put Baltimore 2 back and the Blue Jays,
- 35:55Speaker 1: depending on what they do, would leave them. So, yeah,
- 35:57Speaker 1: this thing's not done yet.
- 35:59Speaker 2: By the way, Brandon Young has been really good for
- 36:01Speaker 2: the Orioles. He's pitching tonight. He's been really good. Except
- 36:04Speaker 2: for the two home runs he gave to Adley on Thursday.
- 36:06Speaker 2: He was good in that game, too. Right.
- 36:08Speaker 3: That was in game two. Adley knew what was coming.
- 36:11Speaker 3: The old catcher. Old catcher tricks.
- 36:15Speaker 1: He's looking good in the past.
- 36:16Speaker 2: Standing ovation. Whack. Homer, not a standing ovation.
- 36:20Speaker 1: Not as much.
- 36:21Speaker 3: Not as many people standing. That ball he hit yesterday,
- 36:24Speaker 3: by the way, also, side note, Adley off the pesky pole.
- 36:28Speaker 3: I think he hit it off the top of the
- 36:29Speaker 3: pesky pole at like 112.
- 36:32Speaker 2: I get it.
- 36:32Speaker 1: It's short. It was 112 EV.
- 36:35Speaker 2: It was. It was like, bing, bing. Like, quick. Quick.
- 36:40Speaker 2: It got a home or anywhere else. Not a home
- 36:43Speaker 2: or anywhere else. Cause it goes foul every other park.
- 36:45Speaker 2: You mean it, you mean it would have hooked foul.
- 36:47Speaker 1: Hmm.
- 36:48Speaker 2: Probably.
- 36:49Speaker 1: Hey, this from Ryan Bass on raise TV in response
- 36:53Speaker 1: to Shane McClanahan, hitting the shelf left forearm tightness for him. Well,
- 36:58Speaker 1: he tweeted about McClanahan's quotes and Shane Mack said, I
- 37:01Speaker 1: don't think it's anything too serious to, You mentioned that
- 37:05Speaker 1: it's tightness and not pain. They're trying to nip it
- 37:07Speaker 1: in the butt as early as they can. He is
- 37:09Speaker 1: expected to pitch again this season. Well, you know what helps, AJ?
- 37:14Speaker 1: Getting Freddy Peralta at the trade deadline.
- 37:17Speaker 2: You know what else helps? Nipping it in the bud,
- 37:20Speaker 2: not in the butt. You never want to nip it
- 37:21Speaker 2: in the bud. I thought it was bud, too. It's bud.
- 37:24Speaker 2: Nip it in the bud. It's not the bud. You
- 37:25Speaker 2: wrote bud.
- 37:27Speaker 1: I'm just Ron Bergen reading the quote.
- 37:29Speaker 5: I know.
- 37:29Speaker 2: I know. They're doing it the Ray way. It's fine.
- 37:31Speaker 2: It's fine. You know, it's fine.
- 37:33Speaker 1: Ray's like butts over buds.
- 37:34Speaker 2: Yeah, some people do. You never know. I mean, I
- 37:37Speaker 2: like big butts and I cannot lie. Who knows? But yeah,
- 37:40Speaker 2: I mean, yeah, hopefully he's back. I mean, but Freddy Peralta,
- 37:44Speaker 2: they still have a strong rotation even without McClanahan. McClanahan
- 37:48Speaker 2: was just kind of icing on the cake. Much like
- 37:50Speaker 2: Luis Robert Jr., he's hurt a lot. It's always something.
- 37:54Speaker 2: And it sucks because this dude is really good when
- 37:56Speaker 2: he's right.
- 37:57Speaker 3: I'm glad he came out and said what it was.
- 37:59Speaker 3: Because maybe through these injuries, because you see how much
- 38:03Speaker 3: of a gamer Shane McClanahan is in different interviews.
- 38:06Speaker 2: He's out there.
- 38:06Speaker 3: He's not punching out the world right now this year.
- 38:08Speaker 3: Hopefully he's able to say it's tight. I want to
- 38:13Speaker 3: get this taken care of instead of I'm going to
- 38:15Speaker 3: pitch through this and then it becomes something more.
- 38:21Speaker 1: I mean, the Rays don't have the division wrapped up yet.
- 38:26Speaker 1: They're keeping the Yankees just close enough. to think about this.
- 38:29Speaker 1: I think it's three games right now. I don't have
- 38:32Speaker 1: every single race memorized right now. Yeah, I understand.
- 38:37Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 38:38Speaker 1: And I don't know, I don't know where the season
- 38:39Speaker 1: series is at. Rays have been playing 500 ball for
- 38:42Speaker 1: the past like month or so, but I mean, that's fine.
- 38:45Speaker 1: You're going to go through stretches like that. You just
- 38:47Speaker 1: want to make sure if you're the Rays that the
- 38:49Speaker 1: pitching is feeling good heading into October. Right. I mean,
- 38:52Speaker 1: obviously you want to win the division. You got to
- 38:54Speaker 1: do your thing.
- 38:54Speaker 2: You love to get the buy too. You love to
- 38:56Speaker 2: get the buy to get everyone there. And by the way,
- 38:59Speaker 2: if you Google nip it in the bud, it says
- 39:00Speaker 2: the correct phrase, nip it in the bud, not nip
- 39:02Speaker 2: it in the butt. Just FYI. So Google it. They'll
- 39:05Speaker 2: tell you not nip.
- 39:05Speaker 1: It in the butt. Yeah, but everybody, you know, the
- 39:08Speaker 1: league likes to, the theme of the day, do the
- 39:10Speaker 1: pull side homers. The Rays don't. Opposite fields, running, Brewers
- 39:16Speaker 1: the same way. So the Brewers also do a nip
- 39:18Speaker 1: it in the butt, not a nip it in the butt.
- 39:20Speaker 1: They just like to zigzag in a different direction from
- 39:23Speaker 1: everyone else. But for everyone else, it's bud. If you
- 39:27Speaker 1: learned one thing today. Hey, we tweeted this a couple
- 39:43Speaker 1: days ago, and this is just not an injury you
- 39:45Speaker 1: hear about as frequently, but Luke Weaver's been dealing with
- 39:48Speaker 1: poison ivy for about a month, hasn't slept during that time.
- 39:51Speaker 1: We had him on during that time. He didn't mention anything, but,
- 39:54Speaker 1: I mean, he's not pitching as well with the Pirates
- 39:57Speaker 1: as he was with the Mets. Small sample size, but
- 40:00Speaker 1: just throwing that out there. Did you guys ever know
- 40:01Speaker 1: anyone that was dealing with poison ivy?
- 40:02Speaker 2: No, I thought you just put lotion on and went away.
- 40:05Speaker 1: Definitely. No way. No, well, somebody said the best way
- 40:11Speaker 1: to get rid of it is a steroid cream, and
- 40:13Speaker 1: you can't do that. Well, no, but you can't do
- 40:20Speaker 1: a steroid cream, though.
- 40:22Speaker 2: You can't? They have to have something they can give him.
- 40:25Speaker 2: There has to be something approved by Major League Baseball. Yes.
- 40:28Speaker 3: The steroid cream is not anabolic steroid cream.
- 40:35Speaker 2: I mean, listen, you can give a guy a steroid
- 40:37Speaker 2: for a ringworm. And you can give a guy a
- 40:39Speaker 2: steroid for poison ivy.
- 40:41Speaker 1: Well, you can't.
- 40:42Speaker 3: Poison ivy sucks. Hopefully, he didn't get it where it
- 40:48Speaker 3: really sucks. But that's all.
- 40:51Speaker 2: How do you get poison ivy? I don't even know
- 40:53Speaker 2: if poison ivy was a thing anymore. Oh, yeah.
- 40:55Speaker 1: I've gotten it. You never got poison ivy when you
- 40:57Speaker 1: were a kid walking around in the backyard or in
- 40:59Speaker 1: the woods or whatever?
- 41:00Speaker 2: No? You don't have it in Florida? I don't know.
- 41:03Speaker 2: Maybe we don't. I mean, we had red bugs. You
- 41:04Speaker 2: ever had red bugs? Those things suck.
- 41:07Speaker 1: What's that?
- 41:08Speaker 2: They're like these little bugs. You get them if you
- 41:10Speaker 2: play in moss. Like in the oak trees here, they
- 41:11Speaker 2: all have the Spanish moss. And if you get in there,
- 41:13Speaker 2: you know, when you're a kid, you put it all
- 41:14Speaker 2: over yourself. You're trying to get around and you get red. Oh, man.
- 41:17Speaker 2: It's like hell. No, definitely never.
- 41:21Speaker 1: I don't know about those. But poison ivy in the northeast.
- 41:23Speaker 1: Poison ivy and ticks. Big.
- 41:25Speaker 2: Ticks are bad. Ticks are bad, by the way. After
- 41:28Speaker 2: going to Martha's Vineyard with my son all this summer,
- 41:30Speaker 2: all I heard was about ticks and alpha gal. Like,
- 41:33Speaker 2: I ain't want no alpha gal. That's for sure. I
- 41:36Speaker 2: don't know what alpha gal is, but. Alpha-gal is where
- 41:40Speaker 2: you get bit by a tick. You can't eat red
- 41:42Speaker 2: meat or any red meat products. No cheese, no milk,
- 41:47Speaker 2: no nothing. It's way worse than Lyme disease. If you
- 41:50Speaker 2: eat a piece of red meat, you go into shock, basically.
- 41:56Speaker 2: That sounds like something Scott will get.
- 41:58Speaker 1: It does sound like something. I get all the unique
- 42:00Speaker 1: exotic stuff. The problem is I'm basically just down to
- 42:04Speaker 1: paleo red Red meat is a big part of the diet.
- 42:06Speaker 1: So if I get that, I'm screwed. I'm not eating
- 42:09Speaker 1: much after that.
- 42:11Speaker 2: Google it. Google it, kids. It's great. Because you even
- 42:14Speaker 2: go in the Northeast, they're like alpha gal friendly. I'm like,
- 42:17Speaker 2: I thought this was a joke. It ain't no joke.
- 42:20Speaker 1: That's bad. Yeah, Northeast has too many ticks. It's a thing.
- 42:23Speaker 1: All right, last thing while we have a minute, AJ.
- 42:26Speaker 1: And we didn't even get your thoughts on the Tampa Stadium.
- 42:29Speaker 1: We'll do a segment on it at some point. But
- 42:31Speaker 1: did you also see the White Sox throwing some renderings
- 42:33Speaker 1: out there? Yes.
- 42:33Speaker 2: Yes. Yes, yes, yes. Right by the soccer stadium. You
- 42:37Speaker 2: see the soccer stadium next to it.
- 42:38Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 42:39Speaker 2: I mean, the only thing I worry about is where
- 42:41Speaker 2: do you put the thing that everyone wants, which is
- 42:44Speaker 2: the shops and all that. I mean, there's a little
- 42:45Speaker 2: area there, but is that big enough? I don't know.
- 42:48Speaker 2: But you're going to need, you know, something. Everyone wants
- 42:51Speaker 2: 100 plus acres. That's what's hard to find. But that
- 42:53Speaker 2: is what the Rays got. They got over 100 acres.
- 42:55Speaker 2: And that's good for my boy Patrick and good for
- 42:58Speaker 2: the Rays because I think it's going to do great
- 43:00Speaker 2: where it is.
- 43:01Speaker 3: It's going to need to be at least six times
- 43:04Speaker 3: that side. What is that, a stadium for ants?
- 43:07Speaker 1: They're going to switch the name of the team to
- 43:10Speaker 1: the Chicago Ants. The Crane Chicago had the credit on
- 43:15Speaker 1: the footage there, but Sox Machine, our show on the
- 43:18Speaker 1: FT Network, has been covering that quite a bit. So
- 43:21Speaker 1: that's it for a Tuesday. Welcome back, everyone, from the
- 43:24Speaker 1: longer weekend. We had a lot to cover. See you
- 43:27Speaker 1: on Wednesday. And you might have yourself a little Parlay

- 43:41Speaker 1: an MLB Parlay Boost. And if that's the case, you'll
