- 0:00Speaker 1: Hi, everybody, what's up? What's up? Hi? Hi? Hi guys,
- 0:05Speaker 1: phase on, Hi, how are you man? I'm I can't complain, Donald,
- 0:10Speaker 1: I can't complain. I know you can't complain. Motherfucker. I
- 0:13Speaker 1: love you so much. I love you so much. I
- 0:15Speaker 1: wish I could give you a tight hug, breast to breast.
- 0:19Speaker 1: I would receive said hug. Yeah, with open arms. I
- 0:23Speaker 1: would tell you I would lift my breasts and then
- 0:26Speaker 1: lower them onto yours. Wow. Yeah, I would see all
- 0:30Speaker 1: little pick up and then I would just drape them
- 0:32Speaker 1: onto yours. You would lift up your non existent boobs, well,
- 0:38Speaker 1: don't call them non existent for long. My pectoralis majors
- 0:41Speaker 1: are coming. I didn't say you had I didn't say
- 0:43Speaker 1: you didn't have pecks. I said if you don't have boobs,
- 0:46Speaker 1: well I would take my shape right now. Listen, listen, Gab,
- 0:52Speaker 1: I listen you listen. Gab Union is in real ships.
- 0:55Speaker 1: I'm looking at Gab Union's Instagram and I'm getting back
- 0:57Speaker 1: on that peloton for longer amounts of time. So yo, dude,
- 1:03Speaker 1: and stand next to her looking like a melted candle.
- 1:06Speaker 1: I think my nude stuff is coming up, or you
- 1:09Speaker 1: see coming up? Right, my dude, I got I I'm
- 1:13Speaker 1: gonna I'm not gonna lie. I work out, but I
- 1:17Speaker 1: don't necessarily eat the best. Yeah, he ain't ready. Well,
- 1:24Speaker 1: I would think if I had a sex scene coming up,
- 1:27Speaker 1: I would and I was you, I would go all
- 1:29Speaker 1: out with everything, throw the kitchen. Here's the thing. Here's
- 1:33Speaker 1: the thing. This is the poll that I wanted. Because
- 1:37Speaker 1: my wife still loves me regardless of what weight I am.
- 1:40Speaker 1: I don't think if I had a six pack. I
- 1:41Speaker 1: don't think my wife would be like, damn, man, come
- 1:44Speaker 1: here and give me that day. Really, because I don't
- 1:46Speaker 1: think you said she's lusting all over the Bridgerton guy. Yeah,
- 1:50Speaker 1: but that's come on, man, that's a dude on television
- 1:52Speaker 1: who's playing a character who's written specifically for that. You
- 1:56Speaker 1: know what I mean? If that guy in real life,
- 1:58Speaker 1: I don't know what he's like, but I imagine he's
- 2:00Speaker 1: not as smooth as Bridgetin is. And if he is,
- 2:03Speaker 1: he has to put he have to put on the
- 2:05Speaker 1: Bridgeton accent. That's all I'm saying. My point is, and
- 2:08Speaker 1: a dude is in shape, sure, whatever, but I imagine
- 2:11Speaker 1: my wife would still love me regardless of whatever shape
- 2:14Speaker 1: I'm in right, So the poll I want out there
- 2:16Speaker 1: is what do women prefer? You know what I mean,
- 2:19Speaker 1: that's the question, if you really want to, if you
- 2:21Speaker 1: really want to tell me, at Me, at Zach, at Joel,
- 2:25Speaker 1: and at Daniel, what do women prefer? For real? Or
- 2:30Speaker 1: how about this? What do you prefer? I can say,
- 2:34Speaker 1: I know what Zach's gonna say. I know what he prefers.
- 2:37Speaker 1: I'm asking, what do you prefer? Listen? I don't. I
- 2:41Speaker 1: don't know. I'm sure it's each their own. Women like
- 2:44Speaker 1: different things. For me, For example, my girlfriend's not super
- 2:49Speaker 1: into abs and being ripped, me being ripped. But for
- 2:53Speaker 1: myself before I go shirtless in next to Gabrielle Union
- 2:58Speaker 1: in a giant movie, I want to. I want to
- 3:00Speaker 1: at least try to get as lean as possible. I
- 3:04Speaker 1: fear you on that one. That's that's that's a listen man,
- 3:07Speaker 1: I totally get it, man, because look, if it was
- 3:09Speaker 1: me next to gab Union right now, it would be
- 3:12Speaker 1: everybody be like, da, how did that? What did he do? All? Right? Listen,
- 3:17Speaker 1: you know what I'm most excited about is this live show.
- 3:19Speaker 1: Everyone's talking, dude, It's going crazy right now. We're starting
- 3:21Speaker 1: to get to some momentum. People are talking about it
- 3:24Speaker 1: on the interwebs, and I'm the more people that are
- 3:28Speaker 1: talking about it and saying they're so stoked, the more
- 3:31Speaker 1: like excited and brainstormy. I'm getting about ideas. I know,
- 3:36Speaker 1: because now it's getting to the point where we really
- 3:37Speaker 1: got to think about this. Dude. We can't just we
- 3:40Speaker 1: can't just put out some bullshitt them what they want.
- 3:43Speaker 1: You and I don't put out bullshit, but we have to.
- 3:45Speaker 1: We have to give them something good, right and um,
- 3:50Speaker 1: you know. So one idea I came up with is
- 3:53Speaker 1: this is something I'd like to run by you. I
- 3:54Speaker 1: started running it by you guys in the group chat,
- 3:57Speaker 1: but I think you know, I'm tired of trying. I've
- 4:01Speaker 1: done all I can to recruit a dating app to
- 4:03Speaker 1: come on and sponsor the date Joel Monique segment, and
- 4:07Speaker 1: we haven't had any responses, not even from Farmers Only.
- 4:11Speaker 1: No one is interested in coming aboard for this. I
- 4:15Speaker 1: thought that one of our listeners might have a friend
- 4:18Speaker 1: who works although I just as I'm saying this out loud,
- 4:20Speaker 1: met a woman who works at Bumble Joel, will you
- 4:23Speaker 1: remind me to reach out to that woman in bumble
- 4:25Speaker 1: I just met, all right, But the point is we're
- 4:28Speaker 1: taking matters into our own hands. This is my idea. Donald.
- 4:31Speaker 1: Now you tell me if and when you hate it.
- 4:34Speaker 1: We set up an email. It's called date Joel Monique
- 4:39Speaker 1: at gmail dot com. If you think that you are
- 4:43Speaker 1: a good prospective suitor for Joel, you should submit a
- 4:50Speaker 1: few sentences of why you're perfect to go on a date.
- 4:55Speaker 1: Probably virtually at this point with Joel. Now, we don't
- 4:58Speaker 1: want any dirty talk. We don't know what if you.
- 5:01Speaker 1: If you try and get dirty with it, you're eliminated. Certainly,
- 5:04Speaker 1: if you submit a dick pick, you're out. We don't
- 5:06Speaker 1: want to see your Daniel said last week, no dick
- 5:11Speaker 1: picks and nothing, nothing inappropriate. But I'll give you an example.
- 5:15Speaker 1: If I was trying to get on this right, I
- 5:17Speaker 1: would say, Miss Monique, you are so you are so beautiful.
- 5:24Speaker 1: I am so charmed by your voice, and I can't
- 5:27Speaker 1: think of anything more perfect on my Friday night. Then
- 5:30Speaker 1: pulling bong hits, watching rebels, petting and petting your puppy.
- 5:36Speaker 1: Will you please let me have a zoom chat with you?
- 5:41Speaker 1: All right? Now, that's the kind of thing that you
- 5:43Speaker 1: know don't steal my ship, but that's the kind of
- 5:45Speaker 1: thing that would be appropriate. And then maybe some pictures
- 5:48Speaker 1: of yourself or your instag probably if you if you
- 5:50Speaker 1: have an Instagram handle, sent it, because let's be honest,
- 5:52Speaker 1: you know, looks for a part of this. And then um,
- 5:55Speaker 1: if you don't have an Instagram handle, sense of pictures. Now,
- 5:57Speaker 1: my idea, dolld is that we and by we I
- 6:00Speaker 1: mean Joel and Daniel go through all of the emails
- 6:04Speaker 1: and we pick the two best candidates and bring them
- 6:07Speaker 1: on the live show and do our own date Joel
- 6:10Speaker 1: Monique dating game. That would be so fucking awesome. I
- 6:19Speaker 1: knew you'd love it. But the only way it's awesome
- 6:22Speaker 1: is if Joell wants to do it. Oh Joel, do
- 6:25Speaker 1: you want to do it? I didn't even ask you.
- 6:27Speaker 1: We are so far into this then definitely. Well well,
- 6:32Speaker 1: well I have I have doubts. I have you know,
- 6:37Speaker 1: dating is weird, So we'll see. I encourage you guys
- 6:39Speaker 1: to just bring your a game and let's let's see
- 6:42Speaker 1: what happens. We'll meet at the very least, we'll probably
- 6:44Speaker 1: meet some interesting people and that'll be fun. I don't know.
- 6:46Speaker 1: And also it's it's they can be men or women, right, Joel. Yeah,
- 6:51Speaker 1: everybody is welcome to apply. Everybody is welcome. You can
- 6:54Speaker 1: be a woman who's interested in women or a man
- 6:57Speaker 1: who's interested in women. And and I think that what
- 7:01Speaker 1: we'll do. I haven't figured out all the logistics yet. Donald,
- 7:04Speaker 1: should we hide the person so Joel, Billy? Should we
- 7:08Speaker 1: hide the person so Joel can't see them? How we're
- 7:11Speaker 1: going to figure out how to make it the most fun.
- 7:14Speaker 1: But then here's my wait, wait, wait, wait, last my
- 7:16Speaker 1: last thing is I know this is complicated, guys, and
- 7:19Speaker 1: I'm sorry. This is just you're hearing the live brainstorming
- 7:22Speaker 1: for the live show. Because I'm so excited about the
- 7:24Speaker 1: live show. We found this website where you can take
- 7:27Speaker 1: quick polls. And then my thought is, I'm gonna let
- 7:31Speaker 1: the crying dog out in one second, Billy, I'm trying
- 7:34Speaker 1: to set Joelle. We can have the audience, everyone watching
- 7:38Speaker 1: the live show go to this website where you can
- 7:40Speaker 1: do live polls, and they'll pick no. Joel will ultimately
- 7:44Speaker 1: be up to you. But just like the dating game,
- 7:46Speaker 1: we'll be able to say the audience has selected Jimmy
- 7:49Speaker 1: or Karen Love it can I ask another question. Will
- 7:54Speaker 1: there be a follow up of course to said date?
- 7:59Speaker 1: Of course, it's just we're just stealing. We're stealing this
- 8:02Speaker 1: the structure. We're going to do exactly the dating game,
- 8:04Speaker 1: well not exactly where. I'm not gonna say we'll be
- 8:09Speaker 1: back in two and two of course not. But it's no,
- 8:13Speaker 1: it's no longer I'm sure it's no longer copy written
- 8:15Speaker 1: by them. So for Matt wise, I'm sure anyone can
- 8:19Speaker 1: do this by now, right, But do you like that? Again?
- 8:22Speaker 1: Audience and team here, we're gonna hammer out the details.
- 8:25Speaker 1: But this this is the kind of shit I haven't
- 8:26Speaker 1: saw me anyway, I can't sleep, but this is the
- 8:28Speaker 1: kind of shit I'm up thinking about. I'm so excited
- 8:30Speaker 1: about the live show that I'm like, Okay, there needs
- 8:32Speaker 1: to be a Joel dating game section where the audience
- 8:37Speaker 1: can go to that website that we found and take
- 8:41Speaker 1: a quick pull. Which person do you prefer? Do we
- 8:44Speaker 1: do the whole Joel? Do you select who you chose
- 8:48Speaker 1: or who the audience chose. Well, I'm gonna choose the contestants, right,
- 8:52Speaker 1: so I will let the audience select the person that
- 8:56Speaker 1: I will spend some time with. Yeah, but but can't.
- 9:00Speaker 1: But after this at the day and on the dating game,
- 9:03Speaker 1: you would choose. Also, you'd be like, this is who
- 9:05Speaker 1: I want to go out with, and then the audience
- 9:08Speaker 1: and then the audience would be like, well, this is
- 9:11Speaker 1: who we think you should go out with. And sometimes
- 9:13Speaker 1: it would be you know, they would they would be
- 9:16Speaker 1: different people. What happens then then you would be asked,
- 9:19Speaker 1: what do you want to do? Joel? Do you want
- 9:21Speaker 1: to go out with? Who you choose? Choose? Not want
- 9:23Speaker 1: to be in that position, So I'm just gonna let
- 9:25Speaker 1: the audience choose. No, wait, all right, well, okay, it's
- 9:28Speaker 1: up to you. You're the queen of all things Fake
- 9:30Speaker 1: Doctor Friends. But I but I think what's gonna happen
- 9:34Speaker 1: is before Joel decides she we're gonna tell her who
- 9:38Speaker 1: the audience has preferred. And we're gonna only do two
- 9:40Speaker 1: people because I think they do that's too many. We're
- 9:44Speaker 1: gonna we can't have this be the whole show. It's
- 9:46Speaker 1: gonna be a segment. Well look, oh okay, it doesn't
- 9:49Speaker 1: have to be the whole show. We could do it
- 9:51Speaker 1: and we could get to get rid of the first
- 9:53Speaker 1: person within one minute, and then the last two you
- 9:57Speaker 1: know what I mean, You know what I mean. Everybody
- 9:59Speaker 1: pitch everybody like they gotta pick your game game, and
- 10:04Speaker 1: then she picks the two that she wants to stay, right,
- 10:07Speaker 1: but they're staying. They're not staying for the whole show.
- 10:10Speaker 1: What's gonna happen is we're gonna say, okay, uh, Jimmy
- 10:13Speaker 1: or Karen or Susie or Bill, thank you for you one.
- 10:17Speaker 1: And if there's a Karen in there, oh my no,
- 10:21Speaker 1: the first games that it could be whatever, so so
- 10:24Speaker 1: they so then then then then imagine Joel. Joel picks
- 10:29Speaker 1: like a classic Karen with that Karen cut. Yeah I can't,
- 10:36Speaker 1: I can't for all right, but listen, but listen. So
- 10:38Speaker 1: then you guys, Joel go off and if she'll have
- 10:41Speaker 1: her her date zoom, that's what you'll win. You'll win
- 10:43Speaker 1: a date zoom with Joel probably probably pulling Bong hits
- 10:46Speaker 1: and watching rebels and um and then ever I just
- 10:51Speaker 1: described Joel. I just want you to know you're my
- 10:53Speaker 1: cup of team Mama Donald Donald, you can't participate. You
- 10:58Speaker 1: Donald's gonna be the Donald is gonna be sending it
- 11:01Speaker 1: an email for this, Oh my god, it would be
- 11:05Speaker 1: the best conversations ever. Listen, exchanges, it would be it
- 11:11Speaker 1: would be magnificent, it would be thank you Joel. You
- 11:14Speaker 1: guys would just sit there being like no because he
- 11:17Speaker 1: shot first, you know all that ship Well we already
- 11:20Speaker 1: know how that goes man, Come on now, um, all right,
- 11:23Speaker 1: and so we're excited. Joel, do I have your permission
- 11:25Speaker 1: to pursue this plan? Turn that key? All right? Yeah,
- 11:30Speaker 1: all right. Now let's let everyone know the double check
- 11:32Speaker 1: the email that we sign up for, ready, Joel is
- 11:35Speaker 1: date Joel Monique at gmail dot com. That's correct. J
- 11:42Speaker 1: O E L L E M O N I q
- 11:46Speaker 1: u E there you go. Yes, sounds right. Oh my god,
- 11:50Speaker 1: I'm so excited, Jelow listen, I'm excited. I'm very excited
- 11:54Speaker 1: for I'm very excited for this as long as this
- 11:57Speaker 1: is something she wants to do. If this is something
- 11:59Speaker 1: that you've we are pressuring you, pressuring you us, you know.
- 12:04Speaker 1: And I also we also did a little eye messaging
- 12:07Speaker 1: to each other too, so I wasn't pulling this oide
- 12:08Speaker 1: of my ass. Joel's the one who's helped set up
- 12:10Speaker 1: the email, so she was it's just not surprised by this,
- 12:13Speaker 1: you know. Yeah, it's weird good I think, Although, do
- 12:15Speaker 1: you guys think it would be cool if like you
- 12:17Speaker 1: guys voted, if the three or few head of vote
- 12:19Speaker 1: audience voting. Yeah, yeah, oh yeah absolutely. I have a
- 12:22Speaker 1: feeling there's going to be clear. I mean my senses,
- 12:26Speaker 1: there might be a clear front runner. But I think
- 12:28Speaker 1: if we if we pick them right, m and by
- 12:31Speaker 1: the way, you, I don't sit, how does that happen?
- 12:34Speaker 1: We can't pick for her? We can't. No, It's just
- 12:37Speaker 1: like if you're on an app and you were swiping
- 12:39Speaker 1: left her right, You've got it. That's anonymous until I know.
- 12:42Speaker 1: But this, listen, what's what's the worst is gonna happen?
- 12:44Speaker 1: You're gonna spend fifteen minutes zooming with someone heard somebody's feelings? Bad? Listen. Okay, okay, okay,
- 12:51Speaker 1: So there it is. There there is a disclaimer. Then
- 12:53Speaker 1: here's the disclaimer. Be prepared to get disc because this
- 12:56Speaker 1: is dating and this is well we're going to be
- 12:58Speaker 1: We're not going to be rude to you, but we're
- 12:59Speaker 1: gonna say on this particular first date, Joel has chosen
- 13:03Speaker 1: fu Quan. Oh my god. I tried to go opposite
- 13:07Speaker 1: of Karen. I know, what you did, because you went
- 13:08Speaker 1: because you went straight up typical names, and then you
- 13:12Speaker 1: got well I knew no matter what name I said,
- 13:15Speaker 1: you were going to criticize it. So I tried to
- 13:16Speaker 1: go as far away from Bill and Karen as possible.
- 13:20Speaker 1: I like Bill. Bill is a good name. I like it.
- 13:23Speaker 1: I'm not gonna lie until the whole Karen thing started happening.
- 13:26Speaker 1: Karen was a nice name. There were a lot of
- 13:28Speaker 1: people would really it wasn't. By the way, Bill so cute.
- 13:32Speaker 1: He texts me this morning He's like, hey, man, um,
- 13:34Speaker 1: I'm on the live show right right on. Oh yeah, no,
- 13:41Speaker 1: Bill is really I love it when he gets like needy,
- 13:44Speaker 1: He's like, my am, I on the live show. Um. Anyway,
- 13:48Speaker 1: Bill is not only on I'm gonna be on the
- 13:51Speaker 1: Live show, guys, but he's also going to be on
- 13:53Speaker 1: our Family Feud, which is so thrilling. Well, the only
- 13:56Speaker 1: negative thing is we learned that it doesn't air all
- 13:58Speaker 1: the summer, which is oh word, yeah, But that's fine.
- 14:02Speaker 1: That's fine. I know the summer's gonna be here like that.
- 14:04Speaker 1: That's fine. Where you know what we're you it'll be
- 14:09Speaker 1: on YouTube, it'll be no wait, did you guys watch
- 14:12Speaker 1: us on Drew Drew Barrymore, No, I did not. Did
- 14:17Speaker 1: you see her in the onesie? I did see her.
- 14:19Speaker 1: I saw that though. That was amazing, fabulous, Oh my god,
- 14:23Speaker 1: it was so funny. I did not think she was
- 14:24Speaker 1: gonna come out wearing that onesie Donald, and she did.
- 14:26Speaker 1: I was very happy she did. I was very happy
- 14:29Speaker 1: she did that. Would that that actually? Shout out Drew
- 14:31Speaker 1: Barrymore man, thank you for she said she'd come on
- 14:33Speaker 1: our podcast. Yeah, should we have a rub? Yeah? I
- 14:37Speaker 1: think so. I think it would be great. Fuck. Sorry,
- 14:40Speaker 1: Drew Barrymore is gonna come here, Drew Barrymore said, I
- 14:43Speaker 1: said on her live show corn on her show, Well,
- 14:49Speaker 1: I did corner her. But I know that she genuinely
- 14:52Speaker 1: loved Scrubs, and I know that she genuinely loves me
- 14:55Speaker 1: and Donald. So I don't know why she wouldn't take
- 14:56Speaker 1: an hour and come on and plug her But she
- 14:58Speaker 1: didn't even have to do She doesn't even have to
- 15:00Speaker 1: do an hour. But she could come on plug her show.
- 15:02Speaker 1: We could talk about whatever episode, or we could just
- 15:05Speaker 1: do uh convers I think we do a conversation with
- 15:07Speaker 1: Drew Barrymore, because I mean think how many great stories
- 15:09Speaker 1: Drew Barrymore has. I'm not going to be a whole person.
- 15:13Speaker 1: I can't be expected. You're gonna have to keep that episode.
- 15:15Speaker 1: I'm gonna try Drew freaking Barrymore. Oh my god, Okay,
- 15:19Speaker 1: it's Lawrence. Lawrence told me that she could recite every
- 15:22Speaker 1: single one of Drew's lines from Charlie's Angels because it's
- 15:26Speaker 1: mother effin classic movie. I guess god. All right, Well,
- 15:33Speaker 1: that's a lot of a lot of ship going on.
- 15:35Speaker 1: There's so much to talk about show. We uh get
- 15:38Speaker 1: into our theme soft about show we made about nurses.
- 15:50Speaker 1: He's a story sound here an here you So one
- 16:05Speaker 1: of the reasons I have to peel all the time
- 16:06Speaker 1: is I spoke to this nutritionist, right because I've never
- 16:09Speaker 1: spoken nutritionists in my life, and and you know, she
- 16:11Speaker 1: gave me a whole bunch of things to do. And
- 16:13Speaker 1: but of course the first thing they all tell you
- 16:16Speaker 1: is you really have to drink a lot of water,
- 16:17Speaker 1: because we all know that, but we don't do it.
- 16:19Speaker 1: So I bought this thing. It's this giant it's it's
- 16:22Speaker 1: it's what is this how many leaders? It's two it's
- 16:25Speaker 1: two thousand milli leaders, which is what shoe leaders. Yes,
- 16:31Speaker 1: all right, so it has all these inspirational um quotes
- 16:34Speaker 1: on it with times like you got this, keep going
- 16:37Speaker 1: drink more and and I've been drinking it now. Of
- 16:40Speaker 1: course you have to peep, Like peeing becomes a part
- 16:43Speaker 1: of your life in a whole new way because you're
- 16:45Speaker 1: like you always have to peek. Yeah, you even dread
- 16:47Speaker 1: going on long car drive rides. I know. I'm like,
- 16:51Speaker 1: this is my day two of this, and I'm like
- 16:53Speaker 1: having to strategize where the where the bathroom's going to be.
- 16:57Speaker 1: But bro, apparently this is like one third of what
- 16:59Speaker 1: I'm to drink. Yeah, you're supposed to literally, Okay, so
- 17:02Speaker 1: check this out and check this out. When I, uh
- 17:09Speaker 1: so I for kick Ass two, I got into six shape,
- 17:13Speaker 1: right like six shape. When I say six shape, I
- 17:15Speaker 1: was pretty ripped, like more ripped than I'd ever been
- 17:18Speaker 1: in my life. I wanted to redo it, and so
- 17:23Speaker 1: I went to a nutritionist like you did. This man
- 17:28Speaker 1: had me drinking damn near three gallons of water a day. Lord,
- 17:33Speaker 1: let me tell you something. It's like a side job.
- 17:35Speaker 1: Let me tell you, But let me tell you something.
- 17:38Speaker 1: You never feel better. You feel first of all, your system.
- 17:41Speaker 1: Your system feels like it's at maximum drive, dude, because
- 17:46Speaker 1: you are now fueling your body with which with what
- 17:51Speaker 1: you are mostly made of, which is water. And so
- 17:54Speaker 1: now you're flushing your system and putting new water in
- 17:57Speaker 1: and there's minerals and you're taking your multi vitamins and
- 18:01Speaker 1: now that's streaming through your gut. Is all of a sudden,
- 18:04Speaker 1: like everything. Water is so essential, and we take it
- 18:08Speaker 1: for grant. I take it's like too, man, It's like
- 18:11Speaker 1: not putting oil in your car. I think, yeah, and uh,
- 18:14Speaker 1: and I've never done it. I've always And I'm really
- 18:17Speaker 1: trying to turn over some new leaves because why not.
- 18:20Speaker 1: I mean, we got we got all this time and
- 18:23Speaker 1: and and so I'm trying and I put a little
- 18:25Speaker 1: I put an emergency packet in it, um, you know,
- 18:29Speaker 1: so it has a little bit of flavor, you know,
- 18:30Speaker 1: very mild flavored, because otherwise I'm way more apt to
- 18:34Speaker 1: drink it if there's just even a smidgeon of a flavor.
- 18:36Speaker 1: If it's just water, I'm like, oh, dreading it. Are
- 18:40Speaker 1: you guys doing infusing your water? Are you doing that?
- 18:43Speaker 1: Super like pH balanced water? We can do that too.
- 18:47Speaker 1: There's water this is well, I have I have a
- 18:49Speaker 1: filter on my tap, but it's filtered tap. And then
- 18:52Speaker 1: I and then I you know, the packet. The packet
- 18:55Speaker 1: has like electrolytes and ship when I did remember the Titans,
- 18:59Speaker 1: The what the trainer who trained us for that movie
- 19:03Speaker 1: told us to do the day before we had our
- 19:07Speaker 1: shirtless scenes was drink distilled water because then that flushes
- 19:13Speaker 1: out all the salt and minerals in your body and
- 19:16Speaker 1: so then your skin shrinks. Did you notice? Oh fuck, yeah, dude. Yeah.
- 19:21Speaker 1: And then that morning you're supposed to like eat oatmeal,
- 19:24Speaker 1: so that all of the so that the day the
- 19:28Speaker 1: day of you eat oatmeal, so that soaks all of
- 19:31Speaker 1: the water, the leftoveral water into the oatmeal and you
- 19:36Speaker 1: get ripped. Anyway, I'm trying to I'm trying to just,
- 19:39Speaker 1: you know, why not take on a hobby of like
- 19:42Speaker 1: how healthy can you eat? That's what I'm trying to do.
- 19:46Speaker 1: I like that. It's great. Shall we talk about your recap?
- 19:49Speaker 1: Do you have a recap? I don't have a recap today.
- 19:52Speaker 1: Oh I see, So there's sort of a new pattern,
- 19:53Speaker 1: like you fucking drop these ridiculous wraps and then on
- 19:57Speaker 1: other days you take it time off to refresh your rain. Uh,
- 20:03Speaker 1: it can't be all the time. And I think DJ
- 20:08Speaker 1: Daniel his beats are precious and I don't want to
- 20:12Speaker 1: fire DJ Daniel. That last what do you think of
- 20:16Speaker 1: this episode? So we were talking about this Matthew Perry episode.
- 20:20Speaker 1: It is um uh four eleven my unicorn. Yes, in
- 20:25Speaker 1: some ways it's a bit of a B side. Well,
- 20:29Speaker 1: the get was that we had Matthew Perry on the
- 20:32Speaker 1: show and that was the that was the huge that
- 20:36Speaker 1: was the great thing about it. The epide. After watching
- 20:39Speaker 1: the episode today, it was, okay episode, It's like it's
- 20:43Speaker 1: it's it's got it's not that many funny. Yeah, it's
- 20:47Speaker 1: a but some B sides are dope and it's you know,
- 20:51Speaker 1: this is like the I don't know, it's a good episode.
- 20:57Speaker 1: Casey was like, Wow, that one wasn't that funny. That's
- 20:59Speaker 1: what she's that to me. She was like, it's good.
- 21:03Speaker 1: She was like, it's a good It was good, but
- 21:06Speaker 1: it wasn't that funny. Like the story and it is
- 21:08Speaker 1: pretty cool that the connection between the dad the grandfather,
- 21:13Speaker 1: Like there's if I'm not mistaken, isn't that matt Perry.
- 21:16Speaker 1: So in the episode, the actor playing Matt's father is
- 21:21Speaker 1: his father and is that his grandfather? No, By the
- 21:24Speaker 1: way I read, I had to look at it's funny
- 21:26Speaker 1: out because he said his last name so aunt. So
- 21:29Speaker 1: the guy playing old Murray, who's you know? If you
- 21:32Speaker 1: recall this episode, every time they say Murray, all these
- 21:34Speaker 1: old men pop their heads out of the doors because
- 21:36Speaker 1: Matthew Perry's like, why did you name h Murray? It's
- 21:38Speaker 1: an old person name. So just coincidentally, I read on
- 21:42Speaker 1: scrubs WICKI the actor who I imagine might not even
- 21:46Speaker 1: be with us anymore because he was playing an ancient man,
- 21:49Speaker 1: was Anthony Perry, no relation to Matt Perry, but John
- 21:53Speaker 1: Bennett Perry plays his father. And he was great by
- 21:57Speaker 1: the way. He plays the guitar and he sings, and
- 22:00Speaker 1: he was very charming, and I thought he did a
- 22:02Speaker 1: great job. He would He did a very good job.
- 22:05Speaker 1: And I thought I thought Matt did a great job too.
- 22:08Speaker 1: I think, and Matt directed it, But you haven't noticed
- 22:13Speaker 1: that people usually do a good job when they direct themselves. Well,
- 22:19Speaker 1: I think Matt at the time, as I recall, was
- 22:21Speaker 1: was interested in maybe getting to doing more directing. And
- 22:24Speaker 1: um and Bill said Um, come do scrubs, Come guest star,
- 22:28Speaker 1: and we'll let you direct one. I think that's kind
- 22:30Speaker 1: of what. They're pretty good friends, aren't they. Um. I
- 22:34Speaker 1: don't know if they would say they're good friends. Their
- 22:36Speaker 1: their friend Lee. Um. Obviously Bill was was was super
- 22:40Speaker 1: close with Courtney Cox because they did Cougar Town together. Um,
- 22:43Speaker 1: and and and Matt and everyone you know hangs out
- 22:46Speaker 1: at Courtney's house. And I think and Courtney has lots
- 22:49Speaker 1: of barbecues and stuff, So I think Bill got to
- 22:51Speaker 1: know Matt there. But I don't think that he and
- 22:54Speaker 1: Matt ever hang out. Oh. I don't know. I don't
- 22:56Speaker 1: think they ever really like hang out or do shit together. Okay,
- 23:00Speaker 1: but anyway, there's some there are that. Having been said,
- 23:03Speaker 1: there are a handful of um, laugh out loud moments. You're,
- 23:10Speaker 1: first of all, the introduction of JD's journal. This is
- 23:13Speaker 1: called my Unicorn because I'm given the journal by by
- 23:18Speaker 1: Matt Perry's dad, and I instantly draw what I claim
- 23:24Speaker 1: is a horse with a sword on its head. Yes,
- 23:27Speaker 1: who's there to protect my hopes and dreams? Yes, which
- 23:31Speaker 1: everybody else sees as a unicorn? Yes, And you correct
- 23:35Speaker 1: them over and over again. Also, now why And then
- 23:37Speaker 1: and then the unicorn comes to life in a in
- 23:40Speaker 1: an animated sequence and says, do you know I'm a unicorn? Yeah?
- 23:45Speaker 1: So why is JD? Is JD embarrassed to have a unicorn?
- 23:47Speaker 1: So he's saying, it's not a unicorn, it's a horse
- 23:49Speaker 1: with a sword on his head? Yes? Because why because?
- 23:55Speaker 1: Because a unicorn is just one step to effeminate for JD. Yes,
- 24:03Speaker 1: but in his mind, a horse with a sword on
- 24:05Speaker 1: his head. Fine, fine, no, there's nothing wrong with There's
- 24:08Speaker 1: nothing wrong with somehow gluing or or or fusing a
- 24:14Speaker 1: sword to a horse's head. That's way more masculine than
- 24:18Speaker 1: a unicorn. Yeah. So JD's embarrassed to admit that he
- 24:22Speaker 1: loves unicorns and has drawn one on his on his
- 24:24Speaker 1: Hopes and Dreams journal. And the first time I laughed
- 24:30Speaker 1: a lot. But I started watching this episode, I'm like um,
- 24:34Speaker 1: and I'm like okay, man, man mat. And then all
- 24:37Speaker 1: of a sudden, Cox go I say to Cox, guess
- 24:40Speaker 1: what I found on the internet? And he says a
- 24:43Speaker 1: set of adult male shoulders, and and then I go
- 24:47Speaker 1: totally earnestly, they had to trim them to get me
- 24:50Speaker 1: out of that, well, did you have to rewind it?
- 25:02Speaker 1: That is far and away the funniest sentence in the episode,
- 25:05Speaker 1: and it's it's totally I don't know, it's I don't know,
- 25:09Speaker 1: I don't know. Sweets for my sweets had me laugh
- 25:11Speaker 1: out loud. Yeah, that had me laugh out loud. That
- 25:13Speaker 1: had me laugh so hard. I don't want to to
- 25:15Speaker 1: what would you mean, just do to pose? And then
- 25:17Speaker 1: Matt Perry does some crazy ass for the three that
- 25:22Speaker 1: that was funny. So the theme of this episode is
- 25:25Speaker 1: that the ladies are using their feminine flirtation powers to
- 25:29Speaker 1: manipulate people in the hospital. Yes, Carlo pushes or boobs
- 25:33Speaker 1: together and gets cake, gets cake, and Jordan manipulates somebody
- 25:37Speaker 1: in the beginning to the security guards to Parker car right,
- 25:42Speaker 1: and then the joke is that Elliott doesn't like the
- 25:45Speaker 1: ethics of it and also is horrible at it. Right,
- 25:48Speaker 1: and but when she gets but when she finally does
- 25:52Speaker 1: do it, she becomes addicted to the right to to
- 25:56Speaker 1: the power that she her newfound power. But they go
- 25:58Speaker 1: to help her, and in the end, the janitor does it.
- 26:01Speaker 1: The janitor. The janitor saves her. But also this is
- 26:04Speaker 1: because yeah, we really get a sense that the janitor's
- 26:07Speaker 1: in love with Elliott and wants to marry her. Well,
- 26:10Speaker 1: she uses the power on him. No, she gives him
- 26:12Speaker 1: the wink and the tongue lick. Right right, Does she
- 26:15Speaker 1: give him a wink and a tongue lick? Or she
- 26:17Speaker 1: just yes him? She gives him a wink and he
- 26:20Speaker 1: runs out of there real quick. Her JETI powers to
- 26:23Speaker 1: keep your analogy going are so fucking potent that the
- 26:27Speaker 1: dude drops the carpet he's mopping by the way, fopping
- 26:31Speaker 1: cart and uh goes out in his van with the
- 26:35Speaker 1: doors flapping open. I can only assume that happened by mistake,
- 26:39Speaker 1: and they kept it because it's funny because he drives
- 26:41Speaker 1: off in the shitty van and the doors fly open. Right.
- 26:43Speaker 1: The only way it would have been better is if
- 26:45Speaker 1: boxes flew out in the back right, or Randall or
- 26:47Speaker 1: Randall Marty. But anyway, m dude, I was sleeping whatever.
- 26:55Speaker 1: Um So then he goes and buys a ring, and
- 26:58Speaker 1: he comes back and he gets on knee and she
- 27:00Speaker 1: walks right right, and he yells at the ring. I
- 27:03Speaker 1: told Judas well, it was twelve dollars. What do you expect?
- 27:08Speaker 1: That's all he had, right well, he the guy was like,
- 27:11Speaker 1: the jeweler was like, this is so expect whenever this
- 27:14Speaker 1: price ten thousand, He's like, I have twelve dollars. The
- 27:18Speaker 1: joannitor has no money, but he he probably would have
- 27:21Speaker 1: money if he didn't spend it on things like building
- 27:23Speaker 1: a squirrel army and knife frenches. Right well, yeah, right,
- 27:32Speaker 1: must something must be coming up soon. Oh, something must
- 27:36Speaker 1: be coming up soon. You're you're you're religious. Your religiosity
- 27:40Speaker 1: disappeared for a few seasons, but now it's back. There
- 27:43Speaker 1: must be a story coming soon. Oh really, you think
- 27:46Speaker 1: they're laying the seeds for you to needing to be religious.
- 27:48Speaker 1: Maybe it's related to your diabetes. Maybe I don't know.
- 27:52Speaker 1: But you you literally say to the crucifix, you pull
- 27:54Speaker 1: it out and you go, please get her. Yeah, you're
- 27:57Speaker 1: saying to Jesus to get Carlo or something. Is that
- 28:00Speaker 1: like blasphemy right there? Like wouldn't that wouldn't like And
- 28:03Speaker 1: this is the end. That's how Jonah Hill got possessed
- 28:07Speaker 1: by the devil. What what do you mean? Spoilers? Jonah
- 28:11Speaker 1: Hill gets possessed by an evil demon and give a
- 28:15Speaker 1: spoiler alert for a movie that's not old anyway. Do
- 28:19Speaker 1: you guys don't remember this? He goes, yeah, I remember,
- 28:22Speaker 1: please kill Jay. He I don't know this movie. You've
- 28:26Speaker 1: never seen this. At the end, oh Rihanna punches the
- 28:30Speaker 1: ship out of what's his face and it's amazing. Yes, yes,
- 28:33Speaker 1: I mostly lived for that moment. Could be a good
- 28:36Speaker 1: movie for your first date with the person you're going
- 28:38Speaker 1: to get in this live show, you should start thinking
- 28:42Speaker 1: of things that you can do and during your zoom,
- 28:44Speaker 1: oh my god, okay connect four, connect four four, he
- 28:50Speaker 1: with two sets? You need two sets? No, she would
- 28:53Speaker 1: just say, Fuquan, where would you like the red chip
- 28:57Speaker 1: to go? Red Chip? Pay attention red Chip, pretty sneaky food. Quon.
- 29:06Speaker 1: I will absolutely take suggestions for what to do on
- 29:09Speaker 1: a date over a video call, because well, it's only
- 29:12Speaker 1: I think we're gonna take the pressure off by by
- 29:14Speaker 1: saying it's just a fifteen minute palette letter to see
- 29:17Speaker 1: if there's any connection. Okay, and everyone's gonna want to
- 29:21Speaker 1: know the follow up. I want to know if they
- 29:23Speaker 1: want to go on a second date. Yeah, okay, oh
- 29:26Speaker 1: you know, and then we'll have the person on um.
- 29:29Speaker 1: Even if the date when poorly, we'll have the more
- 29:32Speaker 1: to analyze what happened. No, I do not. That's the game.
- 29:40Speaker 1: We were doing a dating game. If it well, we'll
- 29:43Speaker 1: see if we are doing a version of the dating game.
- 29:45Speaker 1: But if it goes bad, it's so okay. You're right,
- 29:47Speaker 1: though you're right, your life is not. Yes, now, we
- 29:52Speaker 1: just ever would in this show. And I gotta say,
- 29:54Speaker 1: I don't like ever What was Everwood? Everwood was a
- 29:58Speaker 1: w B show and I believe it was classic and
- 30:01Speaker 1: I believe it was created by Greg Berlaney, if I'm
- 30:04Speaker 1: not mistaken, who gave me my big break in the
- 30:06Speaker 1: film The Broken Hearts Club. So when you did that
- 30:10Speaker 1: in this didn't you say I would? You know? Now,
- 30:14Speaker 1: I gotta be honest. I don't like jokes that that
- 30:16Speaker 1: just dis other people's shit for no reason, right, And
- 30:19Speaker 1: I don't like that either. And I and you know,
- 30:21Speaker 1: we did it back in the day because we didn't
- 30:23Speaker 1: know better. But I I always put some bad taste on.
- 30:26Speaker 1: I was like why And it's a common thing now,
- 30:28Speaker 1: like people are always digging at other shows and other
- 30:30Speaker 1: actors and other people, and I just I would never
- 30:34Speaker 1: do that now, and I don't like it now. I've
- 30:35Speaker 1: never seen an episode of ever would. I imagine it
- 30:38Speaker 1: was a hot CW show at the time and we
- 30:40Speaker 1: were trying to be like snarky. It was amazing. It
- 30:43Speaker 1: was about father son and there was a train station
- 30:47Speaker 1: and medical drama. Oh man, am I right? It was
- 30:50Speaker 1: Greg Blaney the creator, all right? So then I remember
- 30:53Speaker 1: Greg got mad, not real mad, but like, oh, we'll
- 30:57Speaker 1: get them back. And I don't know if it was
- 30:59Speaker 1: Everwood or one of his other shows they did some
- 31:02Speaker 1: scrubs or Zach Braft diss. I don't remember. See, that's
- 31:06Speaker 1: why that seem it's like it's like a rap battle.
- 31:10Speaker 1: That's fine, what do you call them? All right, it's
- 31:14Speaker 1: I'm all right with that. That's that's all right. I
- 31:18Speaker 1: don't want to be part of a disc track situation.
- 31:20Speaker 1: Sure you do, if as long as there are rules
- 31:22Speaker 1: and you're not you know, and it's not taken out
- 31:26Speaker 1: of context. I think it's always a good it's always
- 31:29Speaker 1: good publicity to mention another show or another show mentioned
- 31:33Speaker 1: you or you know. It feels cheap to me, to
- 31:36Speaker 1: be honest. Now, I think if there's an understanding, I
- 31:39Speaker 1: think it's all right. Like I think if there was
- 31:42Speaker 1: a conversation between Bill and Greg like nowadays, if you
- 31:46Speaker 1: were to do that, I would hope that that's how
- 31:48Speaker 1: it would go down and it wouldn't just be you
- 31:51Speaker 1: know that's it just sounds weird to have the showrunner
- 31:54Speaker 1: of Moms going at it with the showrunner of freaking
- 31:58Speaker 1: you know the ash that just you know, beef like
- 32:02Speaker 1: that shouldn't happen. I don't know, I'm all, I'm not
- 32:05Speaker 1: saying anything major or than I don't like humor. That's
- 32:08Speaker 1: like making fun of other people's creations anymore. I think
- 32:13Speaker 1: it's too hard to make shit and it's just me.
- 32:15Speaker 1: You better never ever make fun of me for loving
- 32:18Speaker 1: Star Wars like snore bore just way to like get
- 32:22Speaker 1: this pad going? Wait, told Daniel gives my my head CPR,
- 32:26Speaker 1: there's gonna be so so many snores. Um, should we
- 32:32Speaker 1: take a break, Joe, Yes, we'll be right back after
- 32:35Speaker 1: this break and we're bad back. More to say on
- 32:46Speaker 1: the episode, did you ever do like the hand clapping
- 32:48Speaker 1: games when you were a kid like Bright? I know,
- 32:51Speaker 1: but Joel, I know you did. Come on now oh
- 32:54Speaker 1: she know it ya black silver? But back back back, yeah,
- 33:01Speaker 1: she asked her mother. Mother, M yeah, yeah, yeah yeah
- 33:10Speaker 1: jump so hi I'm teaching my daughter that shit, I'll
- 33:12Speaker 1: teaching my daughter that she loves it. I bet your
- 33:17Speaker 1: daughter would be so good at this clapping that one.
- 33:19Speaker 1: That one's a hard one because then it does all
- 33:21Speaker 1: of this and well, actually she probably could do that.
- 33:24Speaker 1: She's a way better danceing than I am buying. Really already, dude,
- 33:27Speaker 1: she's look she does. I'm so excited for you. I'm
- 33:30Speaker 1: so excited for you, guys, because I just I can't
- 33:33Speaker 1: imagine how fun it is when your kid gets to
- 33:36Speaker 1: be around her age and some sort of talent starts emerging,
- 33:40Speaker 1: whether it be athletic or dance or the arts or whatever.
- 33:43Speaker 1: It must be so thrilling to be like, oh my god, look,
- 33:45Speaker 1: she's definitely got some musical something going on with her. Uh.
- 33:50Speaker 1: I don't know if it's good yet. You know, it
- 33:53Speaker 1: still has to be nurtured. It's still you know, the
- 33:55Speaker 1: of course one thing feeling. You guys are gonna nurtured
- 33:57Speaker 1: it because it's exciting. She's yeah, he needs to go
- 34:00Speaker 1: to the Fame school, dance on a cab. I have
- 34:04Speaker 1: Debbie Allen yell at her. Well, I'm trying. I would
- 34:07Speaker 1: love to put her into Debbie Allen School, the Debbie
- 34:09Speaker 1: Allen schools out here. Man, she has a dance school
- 34:11Speaker 1: out here. Oh, I was making a fame joke. But yes, good,
- 34:13Speaker 1: you know Debbie Allen has a great school out here. No,
- 34:17Speaker 1: I gosh, she has a wonderful school. I would love
- 34:21Speaker 1: her because it's it's kind of far from where we are,
- 34:24Speaker 1: and that's a trek. Like everything that we got going
- 34:26Speaker 1: on right here is within you know, five five minutes away.
- 34:30Speaker 1: One is not one of these schools. I know. Debbie
- 34:32Speaker 1: Allen's more high falutint high art than what I'm about
- 34:35Speaker 1: to say. But you know, you see these schools on
- 34:37Speaker 1: on the on Instagram where the kids are doing hip
- 34:39Speaker 1: hop dance and like the cameras moving in and out
- 34:41Speaker 1: and they're doing like choreography, and you're like, holy shit,
- 34:44Speaker 1: those kids can dance. What about Like, I think you
- 34:45Speaker 1: got to be a little bit older to go to
- 34:47Speaker 1: those those No, I'm sure they have them for all ages.
- 34:50Speaker 1: They don't see. I don't see that. Don't make me Google,
- 34:52Speaker 1: don't make me Google. Get your Google on the man,
- 34:55Speaker 1: I think it's more than the Google. I think I
- 34:57Speaker 1: think I do believe Casey did call them an ask
- 35:00Speaker 1: like you know, is there an age limit? And I
- 35:02Speaker 1: believe at the time, and she might be over it
- 35:06Speaker 1: now while he's under it. We should ask Amanda because
- 35:10Speaker 1: Amanda Clots is dialed in with dancers and stuff. Maybe
- 35:13Speaker 1: she knows that's what's up. Um, all right, is the
- 35:16Speaker 1: caller here? Bring the caller in, Guys, we're excited. Bring
- 35:19Speaker 1: it in. They had a Jack Sherry. Give it up
- 35:22Speaker 1: for Jack Sherry. Who's at the Cheers bar? Jack Sherry,
- 35:28Speaker 1: Jack Sherry. Your background is sometimes you wanna go where
- 35:33Speaker 1: everybody knows your name, it's Jack and they're all that
- 35:40Speaker 1: you game Jack chair, Harry. You wanna go where you
- 35:45Speaker 1: can see people are all the saying beautiful. You want
- 35:50Speaker 1: to go where everybody knows your name. I get Oprah
- 35:55Speaker 1: voice and cheers themes. Now for the listeners, you can't
- 35:59Speaker 1: see Jack Jerry. His head is right over Norm's chair.
- 36:04Speaker 1: His background is the Cheers bar and his head is
- 36:06Speaker 1: right where Norm we used to sit. Yeah. No, so
- 36:10Speaker 1: fun story for that. Me and my friends. We work
- 36:13Speaker 1: in animation, so that's a lot of tough of animation.
- 36:15Speaker 1: Do you work in two D I work at Bento Box,
- 36:18Speaker 1: the studio that does oh Dope. Yeah, you're you're in California. No,
- 36:22Speaker 1: I'm at the Atlanta studio, but right now I'm in Delaware,
- 36:25Speaker 1: so it's all over the place. Wait, what did they do?
- 36:28Speaker 1: What does Bento Box do? The main thing they do
- 36:30Speaker 1: is Bob's Burgers. But that's all la. We handle a
- 36:34Speaker 1: lot of different stuff. Like the shows I've worked on
- 36:36Speaker 1: were like Hoops, which was a very short lived project
- 36:39Speaker 1: over on Netflix. But yeah, no, So we work a
- 36:43Speaker 1: lot of long nights. And one of the things we
- 36:46Speaker 1: started doing, like a year and a half ago, was
- 36:50Speaker 1: the lights would go down at outside of the studio,
- 36:53Speaker 1: the ac would kick off, and we would just throw
- 36:56Speaker 1: on two episodes of Cheers and we would just end
- 36:59Speaker 1: our day watching Cheers. It's great. It's been a while.
- 37:03Speaker 1: So we've since blown through Cheers, We've blown through Frasier.
- 37:07Speaker 1: We have not watched this show because half of the
- 37:09Speaker 1: people listen to this podcast and they don't want to
- 37:13Speaker 1: get ahead of where you guys. Oh that's cool. I
- 37:15Speaker 1: love hearing Jack. I love here when people are actually
- 37:18Speaker 1: choosing to listen as as we go. Again, we have
- 37:23Speaker 1: no idea a way of determining that, although that could
- 37:26Speaker 1: be a poll question. Joel on the live show, just
- 37:28Speaker 1: to take a sampling of we should start assembling questions
- 37:32Speaker 1: we want to ask people, because I know that'll just
- 37:34Speaker 1: be a sampling of of people and maybe a skewed
- 37:39Speaker 1: sample because there are people that are particularly interested in
- 37:42Speaker 1: being a part of the show. But anyway we could
- 37:44Speaker 1: ask because I'm always curious people are doing it like
- 37:46Speaker 1: they're doing it like like as we're going, I really
- 37:48Speaker 1: like that you guys at your job stick together kind
- 37:52Speaker 1: of and watch you know, television together. That's really it's cute.
- 37:57Speaker 1: It is cute. It's like it's that's a tight knit group.
- 38:01Speaker 1: You guys probably do great animation together too, you know
- 38:03Speaker 1: what I mean, Like you know that that's that's a
- 38:06Speaker 1: great way to keep the morella up, especially during these
- 38:09Speaker 1: times good bonding. When I was a kid, in my room,
- 38:12Speaker 1: I had a little portable TV that was black and
- 38:15Speaker 1: white screen about that big. I don't know if you
- 38:17Speaker 1: remember these kind they were like I don't know, I'm
- 38:19Speaker 1: holding up my hands. Maybe it was full five inches
- 38:23Speaker 1: by five inches square, did have like the radio dial
- 38:26Speaker 1: on it and everything, and then had a long back
- 38:28Speaker 1: to it and it was like, you know, it was
- 38:29Speaker 1: like the size of a VCR almost but but but
- 38:32Speaker 1: the screen was tiny. The screen was like five inches
- 38:34Speaker 1: by five inches, and um, that's all I was allowed
- 38:37Speaker 1: to have in my bedroom at this age. And I
- 38:39Speaker 1: and I would go to w PI X and on
- 38:42Speaker 1: the East Coast Donald Knows It and they had Cheers
- 38:44Speaker 1: on every night, and when I was falling asleep, I
- 38:47Speaker 1: would watch Cheers on my tiny little screen. So that
- 38:50Speaker 1: that show has a very spatial special place in my
- 38:53Speaker 1: heart because it was it was the show that I
- 38:55Speaker 1: could get. I mean, first of all, it's a great classic,
- 38:57Speaker 1: but it was the show I could get, like a
- 39:00Speaker 1: Evan on Wax when you stayed up late, when you
- 39:02Speaker 1: stayed up till midnight, We'll kame one. No, do you remember?
- 39:06Speaker 1: I don't know. I think I was a good kid
- 39:07Speaker 1: and didn't stay up husband yet the Honeymooners. Oh really, yeah,
- 39:12Speaker 1: I don't think I ever made it to the Honeymooners.
- 39:14Speaker 1: That's when you knew starring Ralph Kramdon. You're right, You're right.
- 39:19Speaker 1: I probably did occasionally watch the Honeymooners. All right, sir,
- 39:23Speaker 1: welcome to the program. Jack. Do you have a question
- 39:25Speaker 1: for us? I do have a question, and I apologize
- 39:28Speaker 1: if I get a little Rambley. My stories tend to
- 39:30Speaker 1: go all over the look who you're talking to. I know,
- 39:33Speaker 1: I'm a fan of it. I don't mind it. I
- 39:35Speaker 1: hope everybody's okay with it. But yeah, so as an animator,
- 39:40Speaker 1: as someone who makes art, I often look back at
- 39:44Speaker 1: the stuff I made years ago, and I will. For example,
- 39:48Speaker 1: there was in high school I made this sequential like
- 39:52Speaker 1: a comic book, essentially a graphic novel, and there's this
- 39:55Speaker 1: one panel where every time I look at it, there's
- 39:58Speaker 1: like a pan, like a cooking pan in the shot,
- 40:01Speaker 1: And every time I look at it, I'll be taken
- 40:04Speaker 1: back to sitting on my basement floor drawing it, watching
- 40:08Speaker 1: some sub movie on Comedy Central, like way too late
- 40:12Speaker 1: at night, just drawing, and I'm transported to that moment.
- 40:16Speaker 1: And I'm curious, if you, guys, since you're watching all
- 40:21Speaker 1: these all this footage that's decades old or like, yeah,
- 40:24Speaker 1: decades old at this point, if you see something and
- 40:29Speaker 1: you just are snapped right back to like where you
- 40:32Speaker 1: were in your life while filming that. I know you, guys,
- 40:34Speaker 1: and I wrote this in my email, but you briefly
- 40:36Speaker 1: talked about this with Johnny c in one of the
- 40:39Speaker 1: early episodes about filming right after nine to eleven, and
- 40:45Speaker 1: it was it was interesting to hear. So I was
- 40:47Speaker 1: curious if anything like that has come up again, where
- 40:49Speaker 1: it just really really brought you back to some moment
- 40:52Speaker 1: in your life. Yeah, I mean for me, Yeah, I think,
- 40:56Speaker 1: you know, it was nine years and over the course
- 40:59Speaker 1: of a decade, we all have highs and lows. You know,
- 41:03Speaker 1: you fall into relationships, you fall out of relationships. You
- 41:06Speaker 1: Donald went through a divorce, you you know, people in
- 41:10Speaker 1: your life get sick, some get better, some die. I mean,
- 41:14Speaker 1: so much happens over the course of this time. And
- 41:16Speaker 1: I definitely think there are episodes we see that I remember,
- 41:19Speaker 1: Oh I can't even see in my face, like, oh
- 41:21Speaker 1: I was in a good place then, or oof, I
- 41:23Speaker 1: was I look puffy? It was I was drinking too much,
- 41:25Speaker 1: or or I was depressed, or oh I remember that
- 41:28Speaker 1: episode I'd gone through. I was going through a breakup.
- 41:30Speaker 1: And so yeah, at certain times, they trigger, they trigger
- 41:36Speaker 1: memories for me. How about you, Donald, Definitely, it's it's
- 41:40Speaker 1: all kind of blurry though I'm not transported back to
- 41:43Speaker 1: that moment. Ever, I'm always questioning what was I doing
- 41:48Speaker 1: at that time, what was going on at that time,
- 41:50Speaker 1: because I do, like you said, Zach, I feel like
- 41:54Speaker 1: I look a little chubby here, or I look a
- 41:56Speaker 1: little What was I doing? What was going on? And
- 41:58Speaker 1: then you know, sometimes look at the date and then
- 42:00Speaker 1: I have to, you know, go through the mental rolodexs.
- 42:03Speaker 1: What was I doing that year? What was I do? Oh?
- 42:04Speaker 1: That was the year I was getting divorced. You know, uh,
- 42:08Speaker 1: that was the year I had that breakup. Or you know,
- 42:11Speaker 1: this was the year I met Casey. Um, I'm really,
- 42:15Speaker 1: I'm really, I'm actually really excited to get to that
- 42:19Speaker 1: moment in time where I meet Casey and how I
- 42:22Speaker 1: am and how I felt at that moment. That's I'm
- 42:26Speaker 1: really excited for that. You know, I simp so much
- 42:28Speaker 1: on the same show, Dude, I I simp so much.
- 42:32Speaker 1: I don't even know what simp means. It's been around forever,
- 42:35Speaker 1: but I do it so much. It's pretty much like
- 42:38Speaker 1: I freaking worship my wife. Is that what it means?
- 42:41Speaker 1: I worshiped my wife, or I worship the woman in
- 42:44Speaker 1: my life or standing for women? Yeah, I standing. Isn't
- 42:49Speaker 1: that the ideal situation that you simp for your wife?
- 42:52Speaker 1: The ideas that is a bit of an obsessive quality too.
- 42:55Speaker 1: Oh yeah, well like um like the Marshall mothers thing
- 42:58Speaker 1: that he does that standing for what? Yeah, yeah, you
- 43:01Speaker 1: stand for your wife? Yeah, I totally so much. Do
- 43:05Speaker 1: you think that she's ever freaked out by how much
- 43:07Speaker 1: you're obsessed with her? She's like, I got that motherfucker good?
- 43:14Speaker 1: She does right, she knows she's got you good. Yeah,
- 43:17Speaker 1: she got she she knows what's up. She knows what's up.
- 43:21Speaker 1: That's so great, though, I'm happy that you simp her. Yeah, well,
- 43:27Speaker 1: is that how you say it? Simp simp c s
- 43:32Speaker 1: I am simp. It's no h just s I mp
- 43:37Speaker 1: sim simp oh simp donald. There's no pH, but there
- 43:40Speaker 1: is when you say I simp, I know, isn't it?
- 43:44Speaker 1: There's in the in the far side, I simp. Damn
- 43:47Speaker 1: I wish I would I simp. I guess she says.
- 43:49Speaker 1: He says, damn. I wish I wasn't such a whim
- 43:51Speaker 1: because then I would let you know that I love
- 43:53Speaker 1: you so and if I was your man, then I
- 43:54Speaker 1: would be true. The only lion I would do was
- 43:57Speaker 1: in the bedoom. She keeps O pat me bye. That
- 44:05Speaker 1: was my jam. She keeps a pet and me by,
- 44:11Speaker 1: passing me by. You know nothing of this, dude, you
- 44:15Speaker 1: zach no pass me by. It's Far Side, Okay. So
- 44:19Speaker 1: there was this rap group called Far Side from the
- 44:23Speaker 1: West Coast, California. I can't believe I got to educate
- 44:26Speaker 1: you on this, and they had this amazing song, probably
- 44:30Speaker 1: one of the biggest songs of the year. The album
- 44:33Speaker 1: was them on a roller coaster coming out of a vagina. Dude.
- 44:36Speaker 1: The ship was freaking flavor dude, like that's the name
- 44:41Speaker 1: of and their their biggest hit was the song passing
- 44:47Speaker 1: Me By Right, and the hook was she keeps all
- 44:51Speaker 1: pat and me by right. But each one of them,
- 44:57Speaker 1: each one of them kind of sing during their rap verse,
- 45:01Speaker 1: and one of the verses is like, my dear, my dear,
- 45:03Speaker 1: my dear, you do not know me, but I know
- 45:05Speaker 1: you very well, and let me tell you about the
- 45:07Speaker 1: feelings I have. Are you and I try to make
- 45:09Speaker 1: some sort of attempt, I simp, damn. I wish I
- 45:12Speaker 1: wasn't such a whim because then I would let you.
- 45:14Speaker 1: And then it goes into that. But anyway, it was
- 45:18Speaker 1: one of the dopest records ever in the history of
- 45:21Speaker 1: hip hop period. Man like we could say, we could
- 45:25Speaker 1: go on, I could go on and on, but we won't.
- 45:27Speaker 1: It's a great song. Yeah, let's get back to let's
- 45:29Speaker 1: get back to Jack. Anyway, I gonna tell you something
- 45:31Speaker 1: embarrassing that happened, so you know how I'm obsessed with
- 45:33Speaker 1: this song. I told you the Bad Bunny with Rosa
- 45:35Speaker 1: Lee love the song right, so good? Well, my housekeeper
- 45:44Speaker 1: was over and the songs in Spanish, and I wanted
- 45:48Speaker 1: to sort of show off for Rosa. Then I that
- 45:51Speaker 1: I liked a Spanish song. She did not like the song.
- 45:55Speaker 1: Donald's doing her voice because Rosa she's my housekeeper. She
- 45:58Speaker 1: comes over once a week and she's been with me
- 46:01Speaker 1: for twenty years and she's awesome, and Donald knows her,
- 46:05Speaker 1: and she's a character. She has a very high voice.
- 46:08Speaker 1: And so but I was like, I'm gonna I'm I'm
- 46:11Speaker 1: so into a Spanish song that I don't know what
- 46:13Speaker 1: the lyrics are, but I'm gonna crank it for Rosa.
- 46:16Speaker 1: So she thinks I'm cool because I like a Spanish song. Right,
- 46:20Speaker 1: So I'm cranking it in the kitchen. I'm kind of
- 46:22Speaker 1: dancing around, dancing with the dog, and Rose is kind
- 46:25Speaker 1: of looking over at me, and I'm like whatever, And
- 46:27Speaker 1: then I get around to googling the lyrics. You guys,
- 46:30Speaker 1: the lyrics are crazy. It's like, what are they say?
- 46:35Speaker 1: It gets it gets dirty? Just wait, I don't know.
- 46:37Speaker 1: I think it's coming out to me. Wait, it's about
- 46:44Speaker 1: fucking obviously, but there's one part there's I was just
- 46:47Speaker 1: so embarrassed. I just thought it was a love song
- 46:49Speaker 1: because she thinks you want that. Now, this is the lyric.
- 46:53Speaker 1: You got so wet that I got baptized. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 47:01Speaker 1: he got baptized by her vagina juice. Oh my god, dude,
- 47:07Speaker 1: I was already there. You didn't have to take me.
- 47:09Speaker 1: You didn't have to take me, Jack, Jack, Jack. You
- 47:20Speaker 1: remember when Zach talked to you, when you when you
- 47:22Speaker 1: were asking the question about moments that take you to
- 47:24Speaker 1: those Zach just took me to a moment that didn't
- 47:28Speaker 1: never existed, but bad Bunny, and Zach described him so
- 47:33Speaker 1: well that I was able to get there. He got baptized.
- 47:38Speaker 1: I think Joel Joel was there too. Joell was Joel
- 47:42Speaker 1: felt the Joel felt the begging you to steer this ship.
- 47:50Speaker 1: I'm done. I'm done, I'm done, I'm done. I gotta
- 47:54Speaker 1: come clean to Rosa and Sam. I'm sorry. I didn't
- 47:57Speaker 1: know that there these lyrics were about being baptized. No, no, no, no, no, Zach,
- 48:03Speaker 1: I shouldn't. I shouldn't bring it up. Um maybe she
- 48:07Speaker 1: didn't hear that lyric. I don't know. I just say
- 48:09Speaker 1: I would say, listen if you if that song offended
- 48:12Speaker 1: you in any way, I apologize. I didn't know what
- 48:13Speaker 1: the lyrics. But let me tell you funny another funny
- 48:15Speaker 1: Rosa story that maybe means she wasn't offended. You'll love this, Joel, listen,
- 48:19Speaker 1: So okay, everything every year Rosa gives me we exchanged
- 48:23Speaker 1: gifts down the story, yes, and and um and and
- 48:28Speaker 1: I give her something and she gives me something, just
- 48:30Speaker 1: like everybody ex changed gifts. Whatever. And sometimes she gives
- 48:33Speaker 1: me something that you know, I don't necessarily love, but
- 48:35Speaker 1: I always display it because she's going to be there
- 48:37Speaker 1: once a week and I don't want to hurt her feelings.
- 48:39Speaker 1: So if it's a candle, if it's a vase, it
- 48:41Speaker 1: might not be what I would have chosen for the
- 48:43Speaker 1: center of the table, but I love her and I
- 48:46Speaker 1: don't want to hurt her feelings, so I make sure
- 48:48Speaker 1: that the item is displayed. So to man, Charlie Brown,
- 48:53Speaker 1: All man, Charlie Brown, I don't want to hurt her feelings.
- 48:55Speaker 1: I love her. So cut to one year. I'm unwrapping
- 48:58Speaker 1: my present. Have you ever seen in these things they
- 49:00Speaker 1: sell like on the Tijuana border or like on eBay,
- 49:04Speaker 1: and it's it's signs that are made of old license
- 49:06Speaker 1: plates letters. Oh yeah, yeah, okay, So Rosa has bought
- 49:11Speaker 1: me one of those, and it's giant and the messages
- 49:15Speaker 1: good weed, bad bitches. Yes, yes, a motto for life. Wow. Anyway,
- 49:24Speaker 1: So I above my sink, a kitchen sink is a
- 49:28Speaker 1: giant sign made of license plates that says bad bitch
- 49:32Speaker 1: is good weed. Because I don't want to I don't
- 49:34Speaker 1: want to hurt Rosa's feelings. Oh yeah, did what did
- 49:40Speaker 1: you do? What did you get hurt? Um? You know?
- 49:43Speaker 1: I usually get her a little something to something and
- 49:46Speaker 1: then and then some money. It's like a bonus, like
- 49:48Speaker 1: you know, like you do. Um. I get her a
- 49:52Speaker 1: little nice gesture and then and then cash because everybody
- 49:54Speaker 1: wants cash. Right all right, sorry, Jack, we totally forgot about.
- 49:58Speaker 1: You're sitting in the cheers bar. I'm just listening all right,
- 50:02Speaker 1: all right, directly enough about enough about Jack, don't play
- 50:06Speaker 1: that song for any senior. I do have a similar story.
- 50:11Speaker 1: I was in a frame shop where I was the
- 50:14Speaker 1: only person and I would I would get maybe like
- 50:18Speaker 1: two people on a good day, and so I was
- 50:21Speaker 1: in the back. I was just blasting music and I
- 50:24Speaker 1: think the song that came on was my neck, my back,
- 50:27Speaker 1: and I heard the door like hoping up and I
- 50:30Speaker 1: ran to the front and there was just this old
- 50:32Speaker 1: woman standing. I don't even have like the benefit of
- 50:37Speaker 1: it being in a different language. That was just me.
- 50:42Speaker 1: Oh did she did she? Did she buy a frame?
- 50:46Speaker 1: She did? She was very happened nice, did not scare her?
- 50:52Speaker 1: All right, Jack, time for your next question. Go sure, um,
- 50:56Speaker 1: this is not directly Scrubs related, But I when I
- 51:00Speaker 1: went back to school for animation, I think that's when
- 51:02Speaker 1: I found out Donald that you also did animation. Yeah,
- 51:06Speaker 1: and I I honestly like you. You've mentioned it here
- 51:10Speaker 1: and there on the podcast. I would just like to
- 51:12Speaker 1: listen to you geek out about it because watching the
- 51:14Speaker 1: stuff you post is so nice and I love it,
- 51:17Speaker 1: and I'm curious how you got into it because you
- 51:21Speaker 1: are a successful man and stop motion is not your
- 51:24Speaker 1: main career in any way, So I'm curious how you
- 51:29Speaker 1: have the energy or time to even do something like
- 51:31Speaker 1: stop motion. It's so so meticulous. I'm so happy you
- 51:35Speaker 1: asked me this question. I am too, not because it's
- 51:38Speaker 1: something of people don't know about. I'm not gonna lie
- 51:40Speaker 1: to you. I do stop motion now because I love it, obviously,
- 51:46Speaker 1: and it's an art form and it's a way for
- 51:49Speaker 1: me to express things that I want to do, things
- 51:54Speaker 1: that I you know, how I feel. You know, if
- 51:59Speaker 1: you look at it, there's always some type of meaning
- 52:02Speaker 1: to the stuff I'd do, even if it looks like
- 52:04Speaker 1: it's just somebody walking across the stream screen. Right, That's
- 52:07Speaker 1: what That's what animation is. It's it's you expressing yourself
- 52:11Speaker 1: through your movement, through a movement in some way. Right
- 52:15Speaker 1: when I was a kid, there were a bunch of
- 52:19Speaker 1: after school programs at this private school that my mom
- 52:22Speaker 1: put me in and she couldn't afford it. But one
- 52:25Speaker 1: of the after school programs was this you know, class
- 52:29Speaker 1: with super eight cameras, right, And when I got there,
- 52:32Speaker 1: this woman would try to teach all of these little
- 52:35Speaker 1: kids who were really young, how to do stop motion
- 52:39Speaker 1: and she was having a hard time. So she brought
- 52:41Speaker 1: this kid and who was maybe like fourteen, and he
- 52:44Speaker 1: did it. And he did it with Star Wars action figures,
- 52:48Speaker 1: and I was like and and so we'd have to
- 52:50Speaker 1: wait till the next week. And so we were all
- 52:52Speaker 1: goofing around and everything, and she played what he did
- 52:56Speaker 1: on a screen and he made the Star Wars Action
- 53:01Speaker 1: figures move around, and I was like, oh shit, that's
- 53:03Speaker 1: how they did it. That's how they did it in
- 53:05Speaker 1: the Empire Strikes Back. That's how they and I had
- 53:09Speaker 1: taken like I had already been there for five weeks,
- 53:12Speaker 1: you know, it was once every once every week. I'd
- 53:15Speaker 1: already been there for five weeks, and I had wasted
- 53:17Speaker 1: all of this time. And so now I was like,
- 53:19Speaker 1: I gotta catch up. And so when I started acting
- 53:25Speaker 1: and making money, I would buy things like super eight
- 53:27Speaker 1: cameras to try and practice animation in my apartment growing up,
- 53:33Speaker 1: and I, you know, without without without books and without lessons,
- 53:39Speaker 1: it's really hard to understand the formula, It's like, you know,
- 53:43Speaker 1: and then once you do understand the formula, it's hard
- 53:45Speaker 1: to put it into motion, you know. Well, also to
- 53:50Speaker 1: graduate to the level where you have because I've you know,
- 53:52Speaker 1: as your friend, I've watched his skills go from you know,
- 53:56Speaker 1: simple lego stuff to the stuff you're posting now on Instagrams.
- 54:01Speaker 1: I still, well, I still have a long way to
- 54:04Speaker 1: go there, but you got you. I mean, you can't
- 54:06Speaker 1: see it because you're because you've been living it, but
- 54:08Speaker 1: you've definitely gotten really much better at it. Right anyway,
- 54:13Speaker 1: So I'm I leave the school, I'm no longer there.
- 54:17Speaker 1: We I'm practicing at home. I grow up a little
- 54:20Speaker 1: bit more, and animation is stop motion. Animation is way
- 54:24Speaker 1: too much time. But I'm still a collector, right so
- 54:27Speaker 1: I'm collecting all of these things in my mind, saying
- 54:30Speaker 1: one day I'm going to animate all of these toys.
- 54:33Speaker 1: I meet Seth Green while doing Clueless. Breckenmeyer introduces me
- 54:38Speaker 1: to Seth Green, and Uh. The three of us became
- 54:43Speaker 1: really good friends. And in throughout time, Seth created this
- 54:49Speaker 1: thing called Sweet Jay, which didn't turn into robot Chicken,
- 54:52Speaker 1: but I did some of the voices on the original
- 54:54Speaker 1: on the original series, and uh, for Sony, it was
- 54:58Speaker 1: like a digital series for Sony. And I said to
- 55:02Speaker 1: him one day, you know, I used to do this
- 55:04Speaker 1: as a kid, I've always wanted to do this, you know,
- 55:10Speaker 1: pretty much, saying how do I get into it? And
- 55:12Speaker 1: he was like, well, I'll bring you by the studio
- 55:13Speaker 1: and you can meet some people. So I went by
- 55:15Speaker 1: the studio and he introduced me to some people and
- 55:18Speaker 1: I was like, well, I'd really like to hang out
- 55:20Speaker 1: here a bit. He's like, why don't you intern? I
- 55:21Speaker 1: was like, I can do that. He was like, yeah,
- 55:24Speaker 1: why don't you intern? I was like all right, bet.
- 55:26Speaker 1: He was like I'll pick I'll pick a department for
- 55:29Speaker 1: you to go into and you can and they'll let
- 55:30Speaker 1: you work there. I was like all right, and he
- 55:32Speaker 1: picked puppets and it was like, you know how to
- 55:34Speaker 1: build stop motion animation puppets, which was great for an
- 55:38Speaker 1: animator because now you're learning the bones of the thing.
- 55:41Speaker 1: And then he was like, you know, go meet some
- 55:42Speaker 1: of the animators and I was like all right, fine,
- 55:44Speaker 1: And I convinced some of these guys to come back
- 55:47Speaker 1: to my house. I had just broken up with a girl,
- 55:49Speaker 1: so I didn't need to impress anybody with how my
- 55:52Speaker 1: house looked. I put a freaking big table in my
- 55:56Speaker 1: living room and he liked for There were times, dude,
- 56:01Speaker 1: where like Donald's whole dining room would be one set,
- 56:05Speaker 1: his whole living room would be a different set, and
- 56:07Speaker 1: they were like ethic sets, right Donald, I would do Yeah,
- 56:11Speaker 1: I was good. I would I got crazy with it
- 56:13Speaker 1: at one point, and then I met my wife and
- 56:14Speaker 1: my wife was like, yeah, this is cool. And then
- 56:17Speaker 1: we had kids and then she was like, this shit
- 56:19Speaker 1: gotta go. Donald had the ultimate bachelor pad. They were
- 56:23Speaker 1: like arcade games. There were poker tables, there was like
- 56:26Speaker 1: a movie theater. It was like the dream bachelor house.
- 56:29Speaker 1: And then Casey moved in and she's like, all right,
- 56:32Speaker 1: did the movers pull away? All right, get this shit
- 56:34Speaker 1: out of here, out here now now. But recently, so
- 56:39Speaker 1: what's happened recently is my son has gone away to
- 56:43Speaker 1: college to do art. He's heavily into it. I like
- 56:47Speaker 1: to think some of the stuff that I did as
- 56:49Speaker 1: it when he was younger influenced him. But he's always
- 56:52Speaker 1: had a thing for drawing. And now he's away at
- 56:54Speaker 1: school and his room is empty. So my wife was like,
- 56:58Speaker 1: if you want to set up an animation room, and
- 57:01Speaker 1: she let me do that, and so that's inspired me
- 57:03Speaker 1: to get in there. I'm not going to waste the
- 57:05Speaker 1: time now because it could be something else. I got
- 57:08Speaker 1: to put something up or she's gonna be like, you know,
- 57:11Speaker 1: what are you? What is this even for? So I
- 57:14Speaker 1: might as well. You know, it's great and the locatiens
- 57:17Speaker 1: you take with it, man, I I can't imagine how
- 57:21Speaker 1: meticulous and slow you have to do to move everything
- 57:25Speaker 1: and keep track of it all. And then you started
- 57:27Speaker 1: incorporating camera moves, which is just the next level shit.
- 57:31Speaker 1: Everybody's always like, you should do a tutorial, and it's like,
- 57:34Speaker 1: I don't want to freaking you should do a tutorial.
- 57:37Speaker 1: People would love that. Think about like if you were
- 57:39Speaker 1: able to like do a simple thing that someone could
- 57:43Speaker 1: do with their kid, you know, or you know, if
- 57:45Speaker 1: you if you were to do such a simitar to
- 57:47Speaker 1: do it with kids, it's really her kids have to show,
- 57:49Speaker 1: all right, Well, then forget that they have to show,
- 57:51Speaker 1: So you could teach someone who's inaspiring. I'm sure there's
- 57:54Speaker 1: plenty of people listening, going, oh, that would be a
- 57:57Speaker 1: cool hobby. How the hell do I begin? You can
- 58:00Speaker 1: probably watch some videos on YouTube. There's a bunch of them.
- 58:03Speaker 1: That's how I did it. Yeah, there you go. And
- 58:05Speaker 1: then but now I've sought out like people, so like
- 58:08Speaker 1: there's a bunch of people out there that I've you know,
- 58:11Speaker 1: made friends with, like this one guy who say Booker,
- 58:14Speaker 1: he's uh say Brooker. He's um an animator, he's an
- 58:20Speaker 1: African American animator also, and he's the guy that taught
- 58:23Speaker 1: me most of the stuff I know, which is really cool.
- 58:26Speaker 1: There's a couple of people at LA that have helped
- 58:28Speaker 1: me out this, this dude, Brad Shift. You know, like
- 58:31Speaker 1: there's a bunch of people that have seen my stuff
- 58:34Speaker 1: and have just given me a little bit of tips,
- 58:37Speaker 1: a few tips here and a few tips there, you know.
- 58:40Speaker 1: And and I'm very grateful for it because it is
- 58:42Speaker 1: it's not just a hobby. It's a passion of mine
- 58:45Speaker 1: and I do one day hope to turn this into
- 58:49Speaker 1: uh you know, I feel like I have a lot
- 58:51Speaker 1: to say in this world, and this is a great
- 58:53Speaker 1: way for me to say some of the things I
- 58:55Speaker 1: want to say through stop motion animation. And maybe the
- 58:58Speaker 1: Lucas Company can steal more your ideas Like Black Stormtrooper,
- 59:03Speaker 1: I didn't say it. You do. You don't have to comment,
- 59:05Speaker 1: You don't have to comment, You just you just lean
- 59:07Speaker 1: back in your chair. Look at those sun dresses. They
- 59:11Speaker 1: are lovely, aren't they? All? Right, Jack, it's time for
- 59:15Speaker 1: Delaware's favorite segment, It's time to fix your It kind
- 59:25Speaker 1: of goes hand in hand with what we've been talking about.
- 59:27Speaker 1: I as an animator, I am at this desk for
- 59:31Speaker 1: ten hours a day wherever, and I'm I'm curious, like,
- 59:37Speaker 1: I also want to do stuff for my own Like
- 59:39Speaker 1: I'm working on other people's shows obviously, but I have
- 59:43Speaker 1: hopes of running my own shows or even making shorts
- 59:47Speaker 1: or any sort of creative project. And I'm curious, especially
- 59:51Speaker 1: now when when there's no real separation of work and home,
- 59:58Speaker 1: at least for the people working from home currently, Like,
- 1:00:02Speaker 1: how how do you find energy to just be like, well,
- 1:00:04Speaker 1: I just did this for ten hours. I'm going to
- 1:00:07Speaker 1: exist in this same space and keep doing it. But
- 1:00:10Speaker 1: for me and you all, like Daniel and Joel both included,
- 1:00:14Speaker 1: you all have a lot of creative endeavors, and I'm
- 1:00:17Speaker 1: curious what advice you have or just how do you
- 1:00:21Speaker 1: how do you keep going and doing more stuff for
- 1:00:24Speaker 1: yourself when it's just more of the same actual work
- 1:00:28Speaker 1: that you're doing, if that makes sense. Do you have kids?
- 1:00:31Speaker 1: I do not have kids? Are you married? M I'm
- 1:00:35Speaker 1: just me A lot of a lot of my hustle, Yeah,
- 1:00:40Speaker 1: showed up like I was doing it for fun before
- 1:00:45Speaker 1: I got married and had kids. And when I got
- 1:00:48Speaker 1: married and had kids, I wanted my kids to have
- 1:00:51Speaker 1: fun also, and it couldn't just be about me anymore,
- 1:00:55Speaker 1: and so I had to start figuring out new things. Um,
- 1:00:59Speaker 1: and it took a really long time for me to
- 1:01:01Speaker 1: figure out how to put the time, you know, you know, Zach.
- 1:01:12Speaker 1: One of Zach's greatest examples to me of how to
- 1:01:15Speaker 1: make a movie was, it's like a puzzle, he said
- 1:01:18Speaker 1: to me. It's like a puzzle Donald, and you got
- 1:01:20Speaker 1: to put the pieces of the puzzle together. And when
- 1:01:23Speaker 1: you figure out the puzzle, you've made a you know,
- 1:01:26Speaker 1: you've made your movie. And that's what it's like now
- 1:01:30Speaker 1: in life. It's like you got to figure it out.
- 1:01:33Speaker 1: It's a puzzle that you know. I get it, you're
- 1:01:36Speaker 1: in that same space. But if you really want to
- 1:01:38Speaker 1: create your own things, sacrifices have to happen, and you
- 1:01:41Speaker 1: have to figure out a way to to you know,
- 1:01:46Speaker 1: even if it's taking a break for a little bit
- 1:01:48Speaker 1: from it all and then charging up you have to
- 1:01:51Speaker 1: figure out a way to motivate yourself, like I aspire
- 1:01:55Speaker 1: to be a better version of myself because I know
- 1:01:57Speaker 1: everybody else is out there doing it, and they're not
- 1:02:01Speaker 1: going to do it for me. Nobody's gonna call me
- 1:02:03Speaker 1: up and be like, Donald, this is your dreams are
- 1:02:07Speaker 1: right here. I'm going to hand them to you. I
- 1:02:08Speaker 1: have to go out and get it. And so, yeah,
- 1:02:10Speaker 1: you have to sacrifice, you have. I know you're saying
- 1:02:13Speaker 1: you hate being in that space for so long, but well,
- 1:02:17Speaker 1: my avice is that's something you can First of all,
- 1:02:19Speaker 1: Donald's right, you don't have kids, you don't have a wife,
- 1:02:21Speaker 1: which which which you know, gives you the ability to
- 1:02:26Speaker 1: spend more time on your pursuits, you know, and what
- 1:02:29Speaker 1: you want to do. And by the way, you can
- 1:02:31Speaker 1: change you My first thought while Donald was answering, I
- 1:02:34Speaker 1: was thinking, you can change up the variables. So even
- 1:02:39Speaker 1: if you have to go to a friend's house, even
- 1:02:40Speaker 1: if you have to go to um you know, obviously
- 1:02:44Speaker 1: when the world opens, backed up a coffee shop whatever,
- 1:02:46Speaker 1: so that you change up your venue so you're not
- 1:02:48Speaker 1: turning into like Nicholson and the Shining and just feeling
- 1:02:51Speaker 1: stir crazy and then also make sure the art that
- 1:02:54Speaker 1: you're animating is quite different. So from whatever you're doing
- 1:02:57Speaker 1: at your job, it feels new. It feels like I
- 1:03:00Speaker 1: go work on someone else's project as an actor. Yeah,
- 1:03:03Speaker 1: I would feel really bored going and then doing that
- 1:03:06Speaker 1: same thing as as a similar to my project. So
- 1:03:08Speaker 1: I go write something that's totally different, you know, I'll
- 1:03:12Speaker 1: write something that's in a totally different genre, as totally
- 1:03:15Speaker 1: different spirit. Sometimes when I'm writing, I write at this
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: desk I'm at right now. But sometimes I go, oh
- 1:03:19Speaker 1: my god, I get cavin fever, and I'll just take
- 1:03:21Speaker 1: my laptop and go write somewhere else. Try to find
- 1:03:24Speaker 1: ways to to shake up what you're doing so it
- 1:03:28Speaker 1: feels different. But you know, last thing I just want
- 1:03:30Speaker 1: to say is like it's now. It's now or never,
- 1:03:32Speaker 1: because you will probably get married and have kids and
- 1:03:35Speaker 1: then become way busier. Now is the time for you
- 1:03:38Speaker 1: to be like going making sure you're going for your dreams,
- 1:03:42Speaker 1: not just being someone who's executing someone else's dreams. Wait, Joel,
- 1:03:46Speaker 1: did you want to say something? Um? I can, I
- 1:03:49Speaker 1: can do it in two seconds. But Tony Morrison method.
- 1:03:51Speaker 1: Tony Morrison was raising children as a single mother while
- 1:03:54Speaker 1: also editing some of the greatest books with the twentieth
- 1:03:56Speaker 1: century and then wound up writing better books. It's crazy.
- 1:04:01Speaker 1: She would wake up at four in the morning, work
- 1:04:03Speaker 1: for two hours, think your kids ready for school, then
- 1:04:05Speaker 1: go do her job, then come home, then feed her
- 1:04:07Speaker 1: kids and put them to bed, and then do two
- 1:04:08Speaker 1: more hours of work, which is exhausting. But it's just
- 1:04:12Speaker 1: essentially what these guys are saying, which is just small
- 1:04:14Speaker 1: chunks of time, like you just find you have to
- 1:04:17Speaker 1: find space pockets of time for yourself to make your
- 1:04:20Speaker 1: projects or nothing. I work sixty hours a week producing
- 1:04:23Speaker 1: other shows, and then I have to come in and
- 1:04:26Speaker 1: do my own stuff. Dan I'll similarly to sixty hours
- 1:04:29Speaker 1: of his work for iHeart, but then it is also
- 1:04:31Speaker 1: like doing his like live streaming and stuff. So it's
- 1:04:34Speaker 1: just about carving out time and then making sure like nope,
- 1:04:36Speaker 1: that's my dedicated time. If I want this to eventually
- 1:04:38Speaker 1: be done, I have to stick to that, like very
- 1:04:40Speaker 1: intense dedicated time, right. I mean, all your job comes first,
- 1:04:44Speaker 1: because that's what's gonna feed you, and it's gonna put
- 1:04:46Speaker 1: all you know, you know, but you have to put
- 1:04:50Speaker 1: forth the effort. Even if you don't. We talk about
- 1:04:54Speaker 1: the white board. Put it up on a white board
- 1:04:56Speaker 1: so it reminds you, shit, I got two more I
- 1:04:58Speaker 1: got to do two more hours of this because at
- 1:05:01Speaker 1: the end of the day it was just a little
- 1:05:02Speaker 1: bit of time and you got it done. And you're
- 1:05:06Speaker 1: all of a sudden, all of a sudden, you're not
- 1:05:08Speaker 1: on you're not plotting. You know, ten years later, like
- 1:05:11Speaker 1: I wish I would have I had it, you know,
- 1:05:13Speaker 1: I had all of this. I could have done it
- 1:05:15Speaker 1: when I was younger, and now I got No, it's
- 1:05:18Speaker 1: just it's what it is, man, It's this, this is
- 1:05:23Speaker 1: you probably know this already. It's just you gotta get
- 1:05:25Speaker 1: out and do it. Just it's it's what it is.
- 1:05:28Speaker 1: All right, Jack, We gotta go, but very nice meaning
- 1:05:32Speaker 1: you and Um and Joel. Do you have any kombucha
- 1:05:35Speaker 1: to give the man? Do you want to give Jackson? Jackson?
- 1:05:39Speaker 1: I think we send Jack a palette of GTS kombucha.
- 1:05:43Speaker 1: Thank you, GTS, and you can share it with your
- 1:05:47Speaker 1: co workers while you're watching um famous sitcoms after work
- 1:05:51Speaker 1: out there in Georgia. But you'll share it with whoever
- 1:05:56Speaker 1: you're in Delaware. Thank you. Jack, Well, thank you, see
- 1:06:03Speaker 1: you all of you guys are great. It's great hanging out.
- 1:06:05Speaker 1: Thank you for the pep talk. Good luck Jack, all right,
- 1:06:08Speaker 1: see you. Let's take a break. We'll be right back
- 1:06:11Speaker 1: after these fine words. You were wrong. I found his son.
- 1:06:20Speaker 1: I found his son. I found his son. That's me. Yeah.
- 1:06:26Speaker 1: The song we wrote together that we wrote on the
- 1:06:28Speaker 1: back of the scooter, Yes, and you rehearsed it a
- 1:06:30Speaker 1: few times too. Yeah. And then when mister Perry falls,
- 1:06:34Speaker 1: he does the who falls j D fall noise? Did
- 1:06:37Speaker 1: you see the pratfall I had in this where I tripped?
- 1:06:41Speaker 1: Matthew Perry gave me that pratfall to do He's taught
- 1:06:46Speaker 1: me and was like, now run with it. Really, yes,
- 1:06:50Speaker 1: Why did Matthew Perry need to teach you how to
- 1:06:52Speaker 1: do a prodfal? You know how to do a pretfal
- 1:06:53Speaker 1: not like that? That was very involved. Well, you did
- 1:06:57Speaker 1: a great job. It was funny. How about when Sarah,
- 1:07:00Speaker 1: how about when Elliott says to Franklin, if you analyze
- 1:07:03Speaker 1: this urine sample, then maybe I'll have sex with you,
- 1:07:05Speaker 1: but probably not. Doesn't work on Franklin. He doesn't give
- 1:07:10Speaker 1: a fuck now until Elliott rubs her nipples. Yeah, okay, now, Elliot,
- 1:07:17Speaker 1: Oh my god, that was quite sexual. For network TV,
- 1:07:21Speaker 1: that was very sexual. I was thinking. I was like, damn,
- 1:07:25Speaker 1: Sarah was game for a lot lot of things. Zara
- 1:07:28Speaker 1: was game to be naughty, and she, um, she really
- 1:07:32Speaker 1: really gave her nipple quite a rub and that works.
- 1:07:36Speaker 1: It worked, and God, not only did it work for
- 1:07:38Speaker 1: Matthew Perry, but I think it worked for a lot
- 1:07:40Speaker 1: of people watching at the time, and it kind of
- 1:07:43Speaker 1: worked for me just now. When I was watching it too,
- 1:07:47Speaker 1: I was like, Wow, Sarah, go on with your sexyself. Yeah.
- 1:07:51Speaker 1: And then I'm in the cafeteria and I rubbed my
- 1:07:55Speaker 1: nipple to get another piece of cake. There's a lot
- 1:07:58Speaker 1: of nipple rubbing going on in this episode. One for
- 1:08:00Speaker 1: the Road and then he drops off the cake after
- 1:08:06Speaker 1: I rubbed my nipple and I go have a good weekend.
- 1:08:10Speaker 1: What was his name, Gerald or something? Yeah, something like that. Um, Glenn,
- 1:08:15Speaker 1: One for the Road Glenn. Yeah, rubbing your nipple in
- 1:08:18Speaker 1: this hospital's magical makes shit happen. This was a really
- 1:08:21Speaker 1: good one. I really liked. I love this moment so
- 1:08:24Speaker 1: much I want to have sex with it. Yeah, and
- 1:08:26Speaker 1: then the callback. I love this moment so much that
- 1:08:30Speaker 1: I cheat on that other moment with this one, get
- 1:08:33Speaker 1: married to it and raise tiny little moments. Yeah that
- 1:08:36Speaker 1: was a good one. That was good, dude. Yeah, that
- 1:08:39Speaker 1: was a good one. Dude. That's funny. And then JD
- 1:08:42Speaker 1: goes to seek out Murray at the airfield and there's
- 1:08:45Speaker 1: like a north By Northwest homage with the model airplane,
- 1:08:49Speaker 1: and I remember this really being a pain in the
- 1:08:51Speaker 1: ask to shoot because we were so psyched. The whole crew.
- 1:08:54Speaker 1: Everyone was excited because we were gonna have real, a
- 1:08:56Speaker 1: real model airplane. This is long before drones obviously, so
- 1:09:00Speaker 1: seeing a midle airplane flying was not something any of
- 1:09:03Speaker 1: us saw regularly. And these guys came out and we
- 1:09:05Speaker 1: were so stoked, and like take one, they flew it
- 1:09:07Speaker 1: right into a tree. And so the fact that the
- 1:09:14Speaker 1: sequence looks so good, a lot of it was just
- 1:09:18Speaker 1: stitched together. I remember. Eventually the grips rigged the plane
- 1:09:22Speaker 1: so it was on like a zip line, a zip
- 1:09:26Speaker 1: line kind of thing, so it could fly accurately. And
- 1:09:29Speaker 1: because because the guys were not accurate with flying this
- 1:09:32Speaker 1: thing even when they got it out of the tree,
- 1:09:34Speaker 1: and so the grips came up with all interesting ways
- 1:09:37Speaker 1: to make it look real, and it looks pretty pretty
- 1:09:38Speaker 1: decent for what it is. But then it's funny when
- 1:09:41Speaker 1: it when it crashes, it explodes. I go, what an
- 1:09:43Speaker 1: odd sized explosion because it was like I think it's
- 1:09:48Speaker 1: meant to be you know this job, it's it's this
- 1:09:51Speaker 1: tiny plane, but there's this huge explosion. No, those planes
- 1:09:54Speaker 1: are huge, dude. Those planes are huge. And this one
- 1:09:58Speaker 1: was probably like the wings, it was probably like four feet.
- 1:10:02Speaker 1: Really have you There's a spot around the where I play.
- 1:10:06Speaker 1: I played golf, and there's a spot across the street
- 1:10:08Speaker 1: where the like the thirteenth hole is, and you can
- 1:10:12Speaker 1: literally see the model planes. And sometimes they have jets. Yeah,
- 1:10:16Speaker 1: sometimes they have red baron, like the red baron like
- 1:10:19Speaker 1: you were fighting and stuff. And these things are huge,
- 1:10:22Speaker 1: like when they put them in their trunk, they got
- 1:10:24Speaker 1: to fold it like in the big trucks too. Man,
- 1:10:26Speaker 1: those things are the wingspans are It's really you'd think
- 1:10:30Speaker 1: a jet, a model airplane jet would could kill somebody.
- 1:10:35Speaker 1: I would think it could. I believe it could. What
- 1:10:38Speaker 1: about when you're covered in bees? What was that? I
- 1:10:40Speaker 1: remember that day because the stunt man got stung. Well,
- 1:10:43Speaker 1: of course I would imagine. So the way they just
- 1:10:46Speaker 1: digitally put your face on the stunt man, yes, they did.
- 1:10:49Speaker 1: It looked pretty bad. Well, hey man, come on, no,
- 1:10:52Speaker 1: I don't expect you to get real bees on you.
- 1:10:54Speaker 1: But it didn't. It didn't look very It looked a
- 1:10:56Speaker 1: little dated. I mean, were you there? Did you watch
- 1:11:01Speaker 1: him get the bees? I did. I watched the whole thing,
- 1:11:04Speaker 1: and I watched him get stung. Did he did he
- 1:11:07Speaker 1: have any experience with bees? No? Not whatsoever. He was
- 1:11:10Speaker 1: just a stuntman. What a stunt man? They were like
- 1:11:14Speaker 1: today's work. You'll be getting covered by bees and you
- 1:11:16Speaker 1: have no training with this. Go yeah, And as a stuntman,
- 1:11:20Speaker 1: you go okay. This is like you said, So, how
- 1:11:22Speaker 1: are you gonna hit the wall? I'm just gonna I'm
- 1:11:24Speaker 1: just gonna hit the wall. Yeah, there's no trick to it.
- 1:11:29Speaker 1: We're just gonna put bees all over you, right, um,
- 1:11:32Speaker 1: all right, so you're covering bees. Then there's a really
- 1:11:35Speaker 1: weird moment when Matt Perry says some random story about
- 1:11:39Speaker 1: how he now that he knows that his father's not
- 1:11:42Speaker 1: his birth father. It wasn't weird that he was hooking
- 1:11:45Speaker 1: up with his cousin and I'm like, been there with
- 1:11:47Speaker 1: my Graham, Graham, which I really don't understand. Did I
- 1:11:53Speaker 1: have Did I have a non biological grandmother that I
- 1:11:56Speaker 1: accidentally looked up with Do you think you add lived
- 1:12:01Speaker 1: that or you think that was written in the script?
- 1:12:05Speaker 1: Been there with my Graham Graham? I don't know. But
- 1:12:07Speaker 1: it's it's it's bizarre, that's weird. You yell at Carlo,
- 1:12:12Speaker 1: is it Carlo? You woman? I was covered in bees. Yeah,
- 1:12:15Speaker 1: that's Carlo yellock. It's a it has some funny moments managed,
- 1:12:21Speaker 1: but it's it's not a it's not the best one,
- 1:12:23Speaker 1: but but it's not the best one. It's got a unicorn,
- 1:12:25Speaker 1: It's got the Unicorn journal and uh and again and
- 1:12:29Speaker 1: it and it has you know, doctor Cox comes through
- 1:12:33Speaker 1: at the end as always man for you. And we
- 1:12:36Speaker 1: learned that Jad was stuck in a well as a
- 1:12:37Speaker 1: child and they had to had to shave his shoulders
- 1:12:40Speaker 1: smaller slid he could squeeze out of the well. That's
- 1:12:44Speaker 1: the most important fact of Jad's life that we learned. Well,
- 1:12:48Speaker 1: and I had no idea that Murray was an old
- 1:12:51Speaker 1: person's name. I played a character Murray and clueless. I
- 1:12:53Speaker 1: wish I would have known. Yeah, joke, I wish I
- 1:12:56Speaker 1: would have got the Joe Murray. Well, you wouldn't see
- 1:12:58Speaker 1: a young Murray these days. It does feel an old
- 1:13:00Speaker 1: man's It doesn't feel like if you're a Murray and
- 1:13:03Speaker 1: you're a young Murray? Where are you? Yeah? Raise your
- 1:13:08Speaker 1: hand your head? All right, that's show. That's our show, everybody. Um,

- 1:14:01Speaker 1: talk about the slow motion run on the outro? We
- 1:14:06Speaker 1: can do go ahead? That didn't stick? What do you
- 1:14:11Speaker 1: mean the slow motion run didn't stick? I'm noticing that
- 1:14:15Speaker 1: there were a lot of games that we played it
- 1:14:18Speaker 1: didn't make it to another another episode. And then there's
- 1:14:21Speaker 1: games like toe finger and did that have more? Or
- 1:14:24Speaker 1: hide the saltine? To hide the saltine? The hide the saltine?
- 1:14:27Speaker 1: Had quite a few that that stuck around all right? Well, yeah,
- 1:14:31Speaker 1: running in slow motion a la Baywatch did not stick.
- 1:14:34Speaker 1: Did not stick. It's funny how we did it. They
- 1:14:36Speaker 1: did it in real slow motion and then when they
- 1:14:37Speaker 1: cut back and then me running behind you while you're
- 1:14:42Speaker 1: walking away and thinking, yeah, all right, so live show

- 1:15:18Speaker 1: want to say to everybody out there, I know you
- 1:15:20Speaker 1: have fatigue, and I know that, uh, it seems like
- 1:15:24Speaker 1: it's very safe and it's probably and it and it
- 1:15:27Speaker 1: probably is. But let's stick to the guidelines of your
- 1:15:29Speaker 1: state and UH and use better judgment out there people, uh,
- 1:15:35Speaker 1: because it would suck to have another year. It's been
- 1:15:39Speaker 1: a year pretty much since COVID's been around. It would
- 1:15:42Speaker 1: suck to have another year like twenty twenty. So please, man,
- 1:15:46Speaker 1: I know it feels like it's over, but now's the
- 1:15:49Speaker 1: time to really do your best to stay COVID safe.
