- 1:26[SPEAKER_00]: John, how are you, man?
- 1:27[SPEAKER_00]: Good to see you.
- 1:28[SPEAKER_01]: Man, it's the off season.
- 1:30[SPEAKER_01]: And we get to talk some speculation.
- 1:33[SPEAKER_01]: What's this is the time, right?
- 1:35[SPEAKER_01]: Like this is, there's no new news.
- 1:38[SPEAKER_01]: And so people are conjuring up.
- 1:41[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm excited by the way you phrased the show should day.
- 1:46[SPEAKER_01]: And I think that's where we want to spend a lot of our time.
- 1:48[SPEAKER_01]: And so I like this is what being a fan is kind of about,
- 1:54[SPEAKER_01]: Does this work?
- 1:54[SPEAKER_01]: Does it not work?
- 1:55[SPEAKER_01]: Why it would work?
- 1:56[SPEAKER_01]: What would you give up?
- 1:57[SPEAKER_01]: What would you get back?
- 1:58[SPEAKER_01]: All these different things?
- 1:59[SPEAKER_01]: So happy to be here with you Larry as always and yeah excited about this one.
- 2:03[SPEAKER_00]: A lot of different angles on this and it's not that like every time we see a rumor that comes across we're just being like, oh my god, let's go.
- 2:13[SPEAKER_00]: You know, I like I didn't really do a whole big thing on Miles Garrett, you know, like some people did on their channels because I didn't really view Miles Garrett as that realistic
- 2:23[SPEAKER_00]: Um, I only think this is only slightly more realistic because Garrett that trade may have changed the landscape in the NFC and also may have changed the 49ers thinking and the thinking of the other contenders in the NFC and that's one of the things well that we'll get to but John is in the house and we want to share the screen and let you know that John travels to a lot of these nine or games.
- 2:45[SPEAKER_00]: on the road, and you can come party with John's whole group, they're going to Australia, they're going to Mexico City, Dallas, Kansas City, Atlanta, just to name a few.
- 2:55[SPEAKER_00]: John, tell people about the 49er rush road trip and how they can connect to you if they want to be part of your traveling party, 49er fan party.
- 3:06[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, we've been doing this for 10 years now and whenever I started doing it, I was coming from Dallas and I would just fly out to these games by myself, not knowing really anybody that's kind of my personality and I show up with a six back and invade people's tail gates.
- 3:20[SPEAKER_01]: It was wonderful.
- 3:21[SPEAKER_01]: But as I shared that experience on the 49ers rush podcasts people are like, dude, what game are you going to go to next we'll do it with you and it just kind of organically grew.
- 3:30[SPEAKER_01]: And now we're to the point where I think, you know, in Houston, we had over a thousand people come out and there's just a space for this now not all of our events are that big, but yeah, so we try to create space.
- 3:43[SPEAKER_01]: an enemy territory where you can go by yourself and not be by yourself.
- 3:47[SPEAKER_01]: You're with the faithful.
- 3:48[SPEAKER_01]: So we do a day before party, the day before the game usually 2 to 6 p.m. and we do an all-inclusive premium tailgate.
- 3:55[SPEAKER_01]: Our events are not cheap.
- 3:56[SPEAKER_01]: They are not.
- 3:57[SPEAKER_01]: We want to host the best event possible.
- 3:59[SPEAKER_01]: There are a lot cheaper tailgates and parties out there and we support those.
- 4:04[SPEAKER_01]: Um, like, you find where you fit in, uh, my thing is I like expensive liquor.
- 4:10[SPEAKER_01]: I like having a good time.
- 4:11[SPEAKER_01]: I want very, very nice food whenever I'm going to a place.
- 4:14[SPEAKER_01]: And so that's what we offer.
- 4:15[SPEAKER_01]: Um, 49ers rushroadtrip.com.
- 4:17[SPEAKER_01]: Um, that is up down.
- 4:18[SPEAKER_01]: You get your tickets, kids are free to any event we ever do.
- 4:22[SPEAKER_01]: And man, it's all about just increasing the community and we give away so much stuff and it's all about just making new experiences and the fan experiences best it can so if you're going to any of these away games man come out party with us and even Larry we're going to add a couple home games.
- 4:37[SPEAKER_01]: Wow.
- 4:38[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, we're good.
- 4:38[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to not on the 49ers turf.
- 4:41[SPEAKER_01]: They didn't like it when we did that.
- 4:42[SPEAKER_01]: We got too big for him.
- 4:43[SPEAKER_01]: It's Oh, we are going to be off the 49ers official, you know, whatever, but yeah.
- 4:48[SPEAKER_01]: So stay tuned 49ers rush road trip.com tickets are up right now.
- 4:52[SPEAKER_00]: All right.
- 4:53[SPEAKER_00]: Well, you know, Kevin I are thinking about doing a couple of road trips.
- 4:57[SPEAKER_00]: We, you know, my daughters in Atlanta, so we're thinking maybe that trip because that's right before the by week.
- 5:02[SPEAKER_00]: That stadiums fire to man.
- 5:04[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I'd like to check that out.
- 5:05[SPEAKER_00]: I'd also like to check out Jerry's world.
- 5:08[SPEAKER_00]: You know, wouldn't mind going to Dallas for, you know, because I was thinking about maybe going to A&M, Tennessee in College Station on Saturday,
- 5:21[SPEAKER_00]: Um, those are two that I'm thinking of, uh, we'll still, we're, we're talking about Australia.
- 5:26[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know if I can deal with that.
- 5:27[SPEAKER_00]: I, I don't like a cross country flight and a closer world flight.
- 5:32[SPEAKER_00]: I, I don't think I could deal with it.
- 5:33[SPEAKER_00]: I just, I just, I, I just, I think I'd go stir crazy on that flight.
- 5:37[SPEAKER_01]: I just got my compression socks for that flight.
- 5:40[SPEAKER_01]: It's like you've got to wear.
- 5:41[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, it's just so much way too long to fly, but we're doing it.
- 5:45[SPEAKER_01]: We're doing it.
- 5:46[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to try it.
- 5:47[SPEAKER_00]: Well, you know what?
- 5:47[SPEAKER_00]: That's cool.
- 5:48[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's cool that you're doing it and the videos and you produce videos so we can all check that out afterwards.
- 5:54[SPEAKER_00]: I'm sure and very cool stuff.
- 5:56[SPEAKER_00]: So everybody wants again, once again, 49er rushro trip.com.
- 6:01[SPEAKER_01]: It's a long one.
- 6:04[SPEAKER_00]: Awesome.
- 6:05[SPEAKER_00]: All right.
- 6:05[SPEAKER_00]: So follow John and head travel around the country and and I'll say this when we went to New Orleans this year.
- 6:12[SPEAKER_00]: I was blown away.
- 6:14[SPEAKER_00]: How many 49er fans travel to these games.
- 6:19[SPEAKER_00]: The nine year fans took over the quarter.
- 6:20[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, it was unbelievable.
- 6:22[SPEAKER_00]: It was a great weekend in the big easy and we went to LSU floor to on that Saturday and the weather was hot and I was great.
- 6:29[SPEAKER_00]: We had a great time.
- 6:31[SPEAKER_00]: Great time in all and great eating drinking town for sure, but the Niners unfortunately not going back there this year.
- 6:37[SPEAKER_00]: Alright, let's get into what we want to talk about.
- 6:39[SPEAKER_00]: This is a story that has been making the rounds.
- 6:42[SPEAKER_00]: I'll do climb and retweet it.
- 6:45[SPEAKER_00]: It says the 49ers and the Eagles have a lot of interest in trading for Raiders, Superstar Passfisher, Max Crosby.
- 6:53[SPEAKER_00]: Um, and the quote here's I'm telling you there's a lot of interest in Max Crosby, two teams specifically are nuclear hot, the Eagles and the 49ers.
- 7:02[SPEAKER_00]: And this is according to a radar insider.
- 7:06[SPEAKER_00]: He's a Vegas, Vegas Raiders Beatwriter on SI, Hondo Carpenter.
- 7:12[SPEAKER_00]: So he's put that out.
- 7:13[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, so.
- 7:16[SPEAKER_00]: This is interesting because obviously Crosby was dealt to the Ravens and then he didn't pass his physical, the Ravens pulled out of the deal, did they pull out because of Crosby or did they pull up because they got cold feet on the draft picks they were giving and then realize they could get tray Hendrickson without giving up those draft picks and said hey let's keep our draft picks and get tray Hendrickson as opposed to giving up our draft picks and trading for Max Crosby.
- 7:41[SPEAKER_00]: So they aborted mission that sent Crosby back to the Raiders.
- 7:45[SPEAKER_00]: The Crosby at that point was like, hey, you know what, I might as well just stay with the Raiders.
- 7:50[SPEAKER_00]: But the Raiders have said, and the Raiders have said, hey, you know what he's back, and but they've made no commitment that he's staying.
- 7:55[SPEAKER_00]: John Spytech is the general manager.
- 7:57[SPEAKER_00]: He's already traded him once.
- 7:58[SPEAKER_00]: He probably would probably trade him again.
- 8:02[SPEAKER_00]: So that's where the Raiders could be coming from.
- 8:04[SPEAKER_00]: They're obviously not one player away, and probably trading Crosby for more draft capitals in their best interest.
- 8:11[SPEAKER_00]: Now, what's happened since that trade went backwards is that Miles Garrett has become a Los Angeles ram.
- 8:20[SPEAKER_00]: And the rams made the big leap forward for Miles Garrett.
- 8:24[SPEAKER_00]: And now we're hearing that the Niners and Eagles may have interest in Cross B.
- 8:28[SPEAKER_00]: Now, it's interesting to me, John, because Matt Mayoco said a couple of weeks ago, hey, the Niners can be interested in the past Russia.
- 8:35[SPEAKER_00]: They can be interested in the Joey Bosa.
- 8:37[SPEAKER_00]: They can be interested in adding a past Russia.
- 8:39[SPEAKER_00]: But then his most recent report is he doesn't expect the 49ers to sign Joey Bosa or Leonard Floyd, and then he's like, or anybody.
- 8:49[SPEAKER_00]: And he's like, not soon, he's like, or at all.
- 8:53[SPEAKER_00]: So it's almost like somebody has spilled to Mayoco.
- 8:56[SPEAKER_00]: Hey, you know what?
- 8:58[SPEAKER_00]: Don't get neither fans excited about us signing a
- 9:04[SPEAKER_00]: Um, capsavings that we have right now and not necessarily spend it and I got the same kind of feel from the nine or PR staff that hey, look, don't create this image that we're on the verge of adding somebody significant because we're not, um, they didn't say that per se, but that was the kind of the message.
- 9:23[SPEAKER_00]: So I guess the question to you, John is, you know, one,
- 9:29[SPEAKER_00]: What do you think rules the day, you know, is it that last thought from Mayo goes saying, yeah, don't expect it and it sounds like the Niners are trying to kind of downplay the idea of adding anybody of significance between between now and training camp or between now and week one or.
- 9:49[SPEAKER_00]: Do you think maybe they've been there's been some kind of change of thought because you do have miles Garrett in LA and the Rams are in a go for it mode and the 49ers do have a lot of veteran players and there's a lot of talk that the Eagles who just added Espinaissa and Jonathan Greenard are one of the teams that have interest in Crosby and maybe you want to be in the deal flow to make sure that he's not
- 10:13[SPEAKER_00]: You know, Crosby's not rushing against you in that game against the Eagles.
- 10:17[SPEAKER_00]: So there's a lot there and I've shoot I've brought I've painted the whole picture.
- 10:20[SPEAKER_00]: Give me your thoughts on on what you think is going on here Do you think this is a substantive rumored you think this is nothing and it's just chitchat without any credibility Give me your thoughts on that and we'll get into it
- 10:35[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, you know, I want to bracket this conversation.
- 10:37[SPEAKER_01]: You have to consider the source.
- 10:39[SPEAKER_01]: And now, Hondo, don't know, I'm could be amazing.
- 10:43[SPEAKER_01]: Could have insider information on the Raiders.
- 10:45[SPEAKER_01]: It's very, very possible.
- 10:47[SPEAKER_01]: I doubt it.
- 10:47[SPEAKER_01]: Considering SI beat writers, 49er's fans know a little bit about those guys.
- 10:52[SPEAKER_01]: And I mean, sports illustrated was like my childhood.
- 10:55[SPEAKER_01]: And it's falling pretty dang far, sadly.
- 10:57[SPEAKER_01]: I wish that wasn't the case.
- 10:58[SPEAKER_01]: And it doesn't mean that anything that SI puts out is not quality.
- 11:02[SPEAKER_01]: That's not true, either.
- 11:04[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think Hondo has any information from the 49er standpoint at all, if there was insider information coming out of the 49ers, Mayoco would be first, second, third, fourth, fifth right there with it because anything the 49ers went out, they just tell Matt Mayoco and Matt Mayoco tells everybody.
- 11:21[SPEAKER_01]: Whether that's Christian McAfrey's going to be ready week one, two years ago, and then I used ready to practice week one last year.
- 11:28[SPEAKER_01]: Like Mayoco is the one that delivers that information.
- 11:31[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think that Matt's just coming up with that on his own.
- 11:35[SPEAKER_01]: The Niners are using him to put out whatever it is that they want.
- 11:39[SPEAKER_01]: So if this was an insider or whatever, and that's not a site to Mayoco, he's the best, he's the best there is.
- 11:46[SPEAKER_01]: Has been forever.
- 11:47[SPEAKER_01]: But call it what it is.
- 11:50[SPEAKER_01]: this is a rumor in the dark period where the 49ers are not even like the coaching staff at front offices on vacation like they're not even at work with the the you know the soccer world cup games going on like they're not even there so
- 12:08[SPEAKER_01]: For this to be any type of new, breaking news, whatever, I just don't see it as that.
- 12:13[SPEAKER_01]: Now, with the 49ers benefit from trading for Max Crosby, yes, absolutely yes.
- 12:19[SPEAKER_01]: And that's what I would want to spend my time on, should they trade for this guy?
- 12:26[SPEAKER_00]: And there was a bleacher report trade concept, let's just say surrounding cross being.
- 12:33[SPEAKER_00]: It was McCell Williams, a 2027 first and a 2028 second.
- 12:38[SPEAKER_00]: So next year's first, the year after second, Huss McCell, who in a, you know, he was a 11th pick overall first in the first round.
- 12:47[SPEAKER_00]: So you're basically trading two first in a second.
- 12:50[SPEAKER_01]: I thought that was true.
- 12:51[SPEAKER_01]: I'm a hard core known on that.
- 12:53[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I'm a hard core known on that.
- 12:56[SPEAKER_01]: Like, if it was McCell Williams and a second round pick, all right, cool, let's go.
- 13:03[SPEAKER_01]: But whenever you look at the trade capital that he was going to get mass cross me, the two firsts.
- 13:09[SPEAKER_01]: Twenty twenty seven first are the most valuable resources in NFL right now.
- 13:15[SPEAKER_01]: So I think that was a large reason why the Ravens pulled out also they got trade hindricks and for cheaper that was easy as well.
- 13:23[SPEAKER_01]: But if there's going to be a first round pick involved, it's going to be a 2028 very similar to what you saw with the you know the AJ Brown tree.
- 13:32[SPEAKER_01]: So like I do not see a 2027 first round pick on the table.
- 13:38[SPEAKER_01]: So, Michele, in a 2028 first, I'm still very hesitant on that because I still think that that's, you have a cost-controlled player in Michele Williams who has not shown that he is a superstar, nowhere near Jaredverse, nowhere near, you know, let's call it what is, and he's injured as well.
- 13:59[SPEAKER_01]: Like, his injury took place in November.
- 14:03[SPEAKER_01]: How hard is it to trade a player with a torn ACL during rehab?
- 14:07[SPEAKER_01]: It like that's a whole another one where it's just like, all right, this is a little too complicated in and of itself.
- 14:13[SPEAKER_01]: And we haven't even mentioned Al Davis doesn't trade with the 49ers.
- 14:17[SPEAKER_01]: He does not strong or alive, but yeah.
- 14:20[SPEAKER_01]: But the Davis family, like Mark Davis done either.
- 14:23[SPEAKER_01]: And Mark Davis was at the helm whenever the Cleo Mack trade went down.
- 14:27[SPEAKER_01]: And the Niners offered more,
- 14:30[SPEAKER_01]: then, you know, the bears did, but they still took the bears still like, and again, you know, I know I said out Davis, that dude, the Bay Area, that rivalry is real.
- 14:42[SPEAKER_01]: And there's no way I could see Mark Davis, the Davis family, Cindy Nax, Crosby to the 49ers, and seeing all those jersey cells.
- 14:50[SPEAKER_01]: Like, have you been to Vegas?
- 14:52[SPEAKER_01]: Have you seen their Raiders store?
- 14:54[SPEAKER_01]: It is nothing but Crosby jerseys.
- 14:56[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe someone does the stuff start showing up soon,
- 15:00[SPEAKER_01]: I, I don't know.
- 15:01[SPEAKER_01]: I have a very difficult time looking at them sending Crosby to the 49ers.
- 15:08[SPEAKER_01]: Unless it was to make a deal and they overoffered, but that's not the way John Lynch and Kyle Shanan operate.
- 15:13[SPEAKER_01]: Unless the trade lands.
- 15:15[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I mean, I guess if I could if I could hand pick my trade here.
- 15:22[SPEAKER_00]: I probably would try to get them off of McKell if, you know, let's just say the premise is that McKell first in a second, right?
- 15:29[SPEAKER_00]: That's the premise.
- 15:31[SPEAKER_00]: And I've already said no, I wouldn't do that.
- 15:33[SPEAKER_00]: But,
- 15:35[SPEAKER_00]: I would consider, you know, look at the Raiders, the Raiders have a young quarterback and they just spent a lot of money on their offensive line, right?
- 15:43[SPEAKER_00]: They've got, you know, they had a lender bomb, they signed Spencer Burford, they drafted trade zone, you've already got Colton Miller at left tackle.
- 15:52[SPEAKER_00]: So, I mean, they've kind of built up that they drafted, you know, the last couple years, Caleb Rogers, Charles Grant, you know, they drafted more offensive line in this year.
- 16:04[SPEAKER_00]: I look at them as, you know, they could use a receiver.
- 16:07[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, they're starting top three receivers.
- 16:10[SPEAKER_00]: They're number one receivers.
- 16:12[SPEAKER_00]: Our Jack Betch, Trey Tucker, and Jalen Naylor.
- 16:16[SPEAKER_00]: So if I would start my offer with Ricky Pierce all as a former first round pick who maybe needs a change of scenery, I also kind of feel like the Niners have enough receivers as far as volume where they could probably move Pierce all and still, you know, feel the wide receiver core that's pretty decent.
- 16:38[SPEAKER_00]: Um, it wouldn't be ideal, but that I could see Pierce saw when you have Mendoza, the first thing you want is you want offensive linemen that can block form, well, that they're kind of taking care of that.
- 16:49[SPEAKER_00]: You want to run a game, well, they've got Ashton, Gentie and Mike Washington, they just drafted an Arkansas.
- 16:54[SPEAKER_00]: We also want to have some receivers.
- 16:56[SPEAKER_00]: And Jalen Taylor, Tray Tucker, Jack Bash, that's got to be the worst starting three receivers in all football.
- 17:02[SPEAKER_00]: And they're second three or Dante Thornton, Malik Benson and Durek Young.
- 17:09[SPEAKER_00]: Um, I mean, it's, it's a ghost town of nothingness at wide receiver for the, for the Raiders.
- 17:15[SPEAKER_00]: So I guess I would probably start with Ricky Pierce all, um, and maybe Ricky Pierce all in a number one, you know, in 28 and some kind of condition.
- 17:25[SPEAKER_01]: Now we're talking, Ricky Pierce all in a 20, 28 first, I'm in.
- 17:29[SPEAKER_00]: Well, and then maybe, you know, I wouldn't even, I would even give them a little bit more to get Michael Mayer in the deal because I think, you know, the bigger set of Mayer and the Niners could use a tight end to me, the Niners need two things.
- 17:44[SPEAKER_00]: They need another tight end and they need a difference making edge pressure.
- 17:50[SPEAKER_00]: And that would provide that.
- 17:52[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, then you may or would provide the tight end and Crosby would provide the difference making edge pressure.
- 17:59[SPEAKER_00]: So how about a 28 first, a 27 second.
- 18:04[SPEAKER_00]: And Ricky Pearcell.
- 18:07[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I think the first second and the player is too much.
- 18:11[SPEAKER_01]: I think first and the second, I don't even think.
- 18:14[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I don't even think of first and a second round pick.
- 18:17[SPEAKER_01]: I think that value is almost too high if that includes a 2027 first.
- 18:22[SPEAKER_01]: So like when you're getting beer saw, it's that in a 2828 first, that's it.
- 18:26[SPEAKER_01]: Like, I'm not doing more than that.
- 18:30[SPEAKER_01]: But if it's a 2027 second, a 2028 first,
- 18:35[SPEAKER_01]: That's the value.
- 18:37[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not overspending on that.
- 18:39[SPEAKER_01]: I love Nascaros, but he's amazing.
- 18:43[SPEAKER_01]: The contract is relatively friendly because he's already taken so much guaranteed money up front, citing both in this all that kind of stuff.
- 18:50[SPEAKER_01]: It's been pro-rated.
- 18:50[SPEAKER_01]: But there's a large healthy chunk that's been removed.
- 18:55[SPEAKER_01]: But you start looking at the 49ers salary cap.
- 18:58[SPEAKER_01]: It's nothing like what the Rams have for the next couple of years.
- 19:01[SPEAKER_01]: And I know somebody's like, wait, 49ers have the most salary cap space in the NFL.
- 19:04[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, this year, they're also the only team in the NFL with negative salary cap space the next two seasons.
- 19:10[SPEAKER_01]: So,
- 19:11[SPEAKER_01]: There's going to be a lot of restructures, there's going to be a lot of, you know, whatever next year, even with rolling forward $70 million, which is on the books right now.
- 19:20[SPEAKER_01]: But whatever you add, that Max Crosby contract to the 2027 to 2028 cap.
- 19:26[SPEAKER_01]: That's rough.
- 19:27[SPEAKER_01]: His cap hit next year's 35 million, 29 million, 27 million, 28 million.
- 19:32[SPEAKER_01]: That's what he has left.
- 19:34[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 19:35[SPEAKER_01]: So the 2027 and 2028 numbers is where it's like, okay,
- 19:38[SPEAKER_01]: There's going to have to be a lot of finagling, a lot of moving, but maybe just shrug your shoulders and say, hey, is this the player that we need to cross the finish line?
- 19:49[SPEAKER_01]: I think for Kyle and John, they want to wait and see and play it out.
- 19:52[SPEAKER_01]: This is much more likely an in season trade than it is an off season trade because you want to see what you have in house and we've seen when John and Kyle feel like they have
- 20:08[SPEAKER_01]: whenever they don't, they will not.
- 20:11[SPEAKER_01]: And last season, I know they're 12 and five record and everybody's like, man, go get up, go get up, go get up.
- 20:16[SPEAKER_01]: Kyle said, too, we've got all these injuries.
- 20:19[SPEAKER_01]: We're not a player away.
- 20:20[SPEAKER_01]: And they were not.
- 20:21[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm thankful that they didn't go all in last year because that wasn't gonna change that Seattle game, whatever it is.
- 20:28[SPEAKER_01]: So, wait and see, this is the way Kyle should hand in John Lynch have operated.
- 20:33[SPEAKER_01]: They like what they have in house.
- 20:36[SPEAKER_01]: If you get to that point in your red hot and you feel like you're a player way, then pull the trigger and there's always a discounted rate in season.
- 20:42[SPEAKER_01]: The Raiders aren't going to be good.
- 20:43[SPEAKER_01]: Not in that division, not with that roster.
- 20:45[SPEAKER_01]: They might be improved.
- 20:47[SPEAKER_01]: Not going to be good.
- 20:49[SPEAKER_01]: I think you'll be able to get my max cross beyond a discount if you ever could get away from the Davis family in season much better than you could right now.
- 20:57[SPEAKER_00]: You know, there's two kinds of moves in the NFL.
- 20:59[SPEAKER_00]: There's the move that's under the radar where you get sometimes really good players for nothing.
- 21:07[SPEAKER_00]: relatively nothing.
- 21:09[SPEAKER_00]: I'm talking about drafting, undrafted free agents, picking up guys at the cut down that you think fit your system, but somebody else doesn't think fit theirs.
- 21:20[SPEAKER_00]: You know, some of these trades are really nothing trades, as far as that you're not trading a lot, and then there's the monumental trade.
- 21:28[SPEAKER_00]: the Max Crosby trade, the Miles Garrett trade, where you're trading for a headliner, a, you know, maybe even a borderline Hall of Fame type player, and you're doing it right in their prime window.
- 21:40[SPEAKER_00]: And so you're going to pay this premium.
- 21:42[SPEAKER_00]: And I get it.
- 21:44[SPEAKER_00]: I get it.
- 21:44[SPEAKER_00]: I wouldn't be my first choice.
- 21:46[SPEAKER_00]: I think I kind of agree with Albert Breer.
- 21:49[SPEAKER_00]: who wrote that, you know, he kind of what you just suggested that he doesn't necessarily love the idea of the Niners Trading for Crosby right now because what if the bottom falls out?
- 22:01[SPEAKER_00]: What if they get into the year and green law can't do it and Fred can't do it and Drake can and Nick can't do it and George can't do it and Trent can't do it and all these guys got old overnight and instead you're looking for, you know, how can they quickly rebuild
- 22:17[SPEAKER_00]: And if you just traded three draft choices for another guy that's in his prime, that's a today win today type player.
- 22:26[SPEAKER_00]: Now, you know, you're, you've just made your rebuild that much longer.
- 22:31[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, I would wait and see what kind of first half you have.
- 22:34[SPEAKER_00]: See what kind of first half the Raiders have.
- 22:36[SPEAKER_00]: I'll say this, I would also want to wait just to see what's the health of that knee.
- 22:41[SPEAKER_00]: You know, Max Crosby.
- 22:43[SPEAKER_00]: You know, one team already walked away from a trade for Max Crosby, who's great, and they have to have some concern, I would imagine about that knee, and I would have a lot of concern.
- 22:53[SPEAKER_00]: So, I like the in season trade idea for Crosby a whole lot more.
- 22:57[SPEAKER_00]: In fact, the way I would play this is, you know, you got, you got 16 defensive linemen right now.
- 23:03[SPEAKER_00]: If you can, if you could add, you know, one edge rusher as a, like a low cost,
- 23:10[SPEAKER_00]: You know, a free agent between now and the beginning of camp.
- 23:13[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe you do that Leonard Floyd somebody like that.
- 23:15[SPEAKER_00]: Joey Bosa if it was low enough $5 figure.
- 23:18[SPEAKER_00]: But for me, I think my plan would be, let's, you know, get your pro personal guys.
- 23:25[SPEAKER_00]: And these guys right now, the pro personal guys right now.
- 23:29[SPEAKER_00]: should be doing good work.
- 23:30[SPEAKER_00]: Like, when I was the Cardinals, our pro personal department, we worked hard in this off this off time between the mini camps.
- 23:40[SPEAKER_00]: It was a little structural little different, but in this down time before training camp, why?
- 23:45[SPEAKER_00]: Because this is when the rosters are set.
- 23:47[SPEAKER_00]: And now you can go, you know, depth chart by depth chart and look, and just count how many running backs
- 23:58[SPEAKER_00]: and you'll have a pretty good idea of which teams are overloaded, which teams have players that you like that might be on the bubble, and you make a list, and you just put together a list, okay, we're looking for these whatever number of players, seven players, ten players, 12 players, obviously you're not going to add more than one or two, but here's like seven guys on our list, 12 guys on our list, that we really like, that are in other camps.
- 24:26[SPEAKER_00]: And I was going through this the other night making making a couple of these lists and it's it's it's difficult because you're you don't know who's going to make the team you don't know you know which teams you know what teams have injuries how teams view certain players there's always a couple players that you're you're not that aware of but I mean I was looking at.
- 24:48[SPEAKER_00]: Take an example of the buffalo bills, right?
- 24:50[SPEAKER_00]: The buffalo bills have Bradley Chub.
- 24:54[SPEAKER_00]: They have Greg Russo They drafted T.J. Parker at a Clemson They've gotten Michael by the way.
- 25:01[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, Michael hoked or horked who was with the Rams pretty good player and then they have Javon Solomon And well, I really I'm a big Javon Solomon fan
- 25:11[SPEAKER_00]: And he was their fifth round pick at a Troy in the 24 draft, 6-1, not 250, but he's a really good past pressure.
- 25:19[SPEAKER_00]: I kind of view him as on the bubble, past pressure for Buffalo, okay?
- 25:23[SPEAKER_00]: So he would be one guy on our list of how many, whatever, 10, 12, 15 defense events.
- 25:30[SPEAKER_00]: That potentially could get cut at the cut down.
- 25:33[SPEAKER_00]: Potentially even could be available, you know, leading into the cut down in some kind of
- 25:41[SPEAKER_00]: But those make that list and look at what defensive end shake free and you might find something that's really good out of that and if not then you can always make a deal if you're five and one going into the middle of October or whatever and the raiders are out of it you can always make a deal for cross be then so that's kind of how I play it I agree with brear now would now would be great but I think that's more prudent thing to do and you have this many older guys on your rosters
- 26:09[SPEAKER_00]: play it a little bit more conservative.
- 26:10[SPEAKER_00]: Let's see what it looks like in the first half and kind of hedge a little bit.
- 26:14[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, how far removed are you from underperforming and picking in the top, you know, 13 picks?
- 26:21[SPEAKER_01]: Well, what if that's the 2027 draft class where you could get
- 26:26[SPEAKER_01]: some amazing edge talent may call in Simmons like the edge players that are coming out in next year's draft class with the elite wide receivers and quarterbacks.
- 26:35[SPEAKER_01]: So there's going to be elite talent in the top 15.
- 26:38[SPEAKER_01]: Now no organization should be planning to pick that high, especially if you are the 49ers, but 2020 season in two years ago, like this has happened in the Kyle Shanahan era.
- 26:48[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, the roster has built way more veteran depth and you've insulated this team much more so you've got a best backup quarterback in the end of it like you shown even with injuries now you can survive and go on the road to get a playoff win, which teams that are completely healthy struggle to do that so I don't think that that's in the cards, but why now?
- 27:12[SPEAKER_01]: Why now?
- 27:14[SPEAKER_01]: You pay a premium now and it's shout out to Albuquerque Brewer and I know we kind of I threw shade earlier on S.I.
- 27:20[SPEAKER_01]: Albuquerque Brewer in their national corner or I think they're two of the best in the business The national correspondence that they put out there is very very good with that you know the MMQB program and all that stuff taking over for the legend Peter but like from the beat reporter side, it's a rumor based
- 27:36[SPEAKER_01]: where this started.
- 27:37[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not saying no.
- 27:39[SPEAKER_01]: I'm saying, I'll give you Ricky Pierce on two seconds.
- 27:42[SPEAKER_01]: Like, that's where I'm at, which isn't going to get the deal done.
- 27:46[SPEAKER_01]: Sure.
- 27:46[SPEAKER_01]: But I'm not overpaying and I'm not offering a first plus and a rookie contract player.
- 27:53[SPEAKER_01]: right now.
- 27:53[SPEAKER_01]: I'm just not going to.
- 27:54[SPEAKER_01]: I want to wait and see.
- 27:56[SPEAKER_01]: And once we get, you know, four to six weeks into the season, we understand where the trajectory is going.
- 28:01[SPEAKER_01]: And they're in fire cell program.
- 28:03[SPEAKER_01]: Now.
- 28:04[SPEAKER_01]: All right, cool.
- 28:05[SPEAKER_01]: Now let's do this.
- 28:06[SPEAKER_01]: And I think that that's where the value is.
- 28:08[SPEAKER_01]: I think that's where smart franchises go.
- 28:10[SPEAKER_01]: It would be different if Miles Garrett was out there.
- 28:12[SPEAKER_01]: It'd be different if you had the salary cat space.
- 28:14[SPEAKER_01]: It would be different if you had somebody like a Jared first to offer up.
- 28:17[SPEAKER_01]: And I don't have those things.
- 28:19[SPEAKER_01]: So you have to be a little bit more reactionary and patient to pull the trigger on something like this.
- 28:24[SPEAKER_01]: But that's just me.
- 28:25[SPEAKER_01]: And for the people out there, it's like, oh, you've got to go get him.
- 28:27[SPEAKER_01]: He's top five.
- 28:28[SPEAKER_01]: You know, super bold.
- 28:29[SPEAKER_01]: They're all what you go in without him.
- 28:31[SPEAKER_01]: Cooler held heads usually prevail and the one mega giant trade the Niners did they absolutely hated it and did they learn their lesson it's it's like the old and living color hated it To be on film.
- 28:47[SPEAKER_01]: I love you so I should live in color.
- 28:49[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah, but like maybe you learned your lesson from that now max cross me a little bit more finalized little bit more proven not a little bit more way more proven.
- 28:59[SPEAKER_01]: but it's not really the way the 40 hours have operated.
- 29:01[SPEAKER_01]: And I don't expect that's change.
- 29:03[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I mean, the knee, I mean, I get legitimate knee, you know, concerns about crossbees, knee health, you know.
- 29:12[SPEAKER_00]: What do you think of the Eagles interest, by the way, the Eagles have added Jonathan Greenard.
- 29:18[SPEAKER_00]: They had Jailix Hunt.
- 29:20[SPEAKER_00]: They signed Arnold DeBaketti away from the Falcons.
- 29:24[SPEAKER_00]: They still have Nolan Smith.
- 29:27[SPEAKER_00]: Uh, who else do they have they just signed AJ S Penesa.
- 29:30[SPEAKER_00]: They also have Jose Ramirez who is with tampos pretty good edge rusher.
- 29:35[SPEAKER_00]: And then they signed the international pathway defensive end from, um, from Africa, Joshua Weirou who's got a ton of athleticism on a, I mean, he's like six, six and he runs four, four, I mean, but he also does never play football.
- 29:49[SPEAKER_00]: Well, what do you think?
- 29:50[SPEAKER_00]: Do you think, I mean,
- 29:52[SPEAKER_00]: That's the thing about how he rosemen.
- 29:56[SPEAKER_00]: He's always looking to hit the big, hit the big addition, if possible.
- 30:03[SPEAKER_00]: And I mean, the Niners have, they've put out a good product every year.
- 30:08[SPEAKER_00]: They have a good roster every year.
- 30:11[SPEAKER_00]: But we're in this world now where it's like, you've got a really, really, really go for it.
- 30:18[SPEAKER_00]: And if you, and it's like, you got teams like the Rams and the Eagles that are really, really, really going for it.
- 30:24[SPEAKER_00]: And I don't know if the 49ers are going to be able to win a Super Bowl by just kind of.
- 30:31[SPEAKER_00]: Well, you know, we're, we're going to be good.
- 30:34[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, are you going to be able to win a Super Bowl in a year where you're going to roll over $70 million?
- 30:41[SPEAKER_00]: That seems, that seems like probably not.
- 30:45[SPEAKER_00]: Now I understand that's part of the nine or plan and this and that.
- 30:48[SPEAKER_00]: But, um,
- 30:50[SPEAKER_00]: It just seems to me that if you're going to get this done, you know, that you're going to have to probably extend beyond what you're even comfortable with.
- 31:00[SPEAKER_00]: So I don't know, what's your vibe on this?
- 31:03[SPEAKER_00]: Do you think the Niners haven't changed their thinking at all since Miles Garrett went to the Rams or do you think that because Miles Garrett went to the Rams that maybe they have changed their thinking a little bit and maybe they are in a little bit more of a
- 31:18[SPEAKER_00]: kind of go for it mode, then maybe they wanted to be a role willing to be or expected to be even a month ago.
- 31:24[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think so.
- 31:25[SPEAKER_01]: If I'm being very honest with you, like if you're going to combat miles Garrett, what do you need?
- 31:30[SPEAKER_01]: You need a good left tackle.
- 31:31[SPEAKER_01]: Well, you got Trent Williams.
- 31:32[SPEAKER_01]: Like in that stance, in that forefront, if you're just looking at how do we counter this move?
- 31:37[SPEAKER_01]: How do we stop this move?
- 31:39[SPEAKER_01]: You got Trent Williams.
- 31:40[SPEAKER_01]: Now, Trent's not in his prime, but he's still all pro level player.
- 31:46[SPEAKER_01]: your entire off-season program is to improve your team as best you can.
- 31:52[SPEAKER_01]: It's not like there's another gear like this one goes to 11.
- 31:55[SPEAKER_01]: I'm just all movie references today, Larry, a final tap.
- 31:58[SPEAKER_01]: Like you don't turn it up past 10.
- 32:00[SPEAKER_01]: It's always been on 10.
- 32:01[SPEAKER_01]: You've always been trying to make your roster.
- 32:04[SPEAKER_01]: quality enough to compete now and I always push back like I remember being in the coaching room, you know, again, I coach high school football and Texas.
- 32:12[SPEAKER_01]: So deal with this, what you will, but like we were with the luck, one of the largest programs in the state of Texas and we were in the playoffs every year and state championship, like we would always sit back and we would argue, okay, is this a team that can win district?
- 32:26[SPEAKER_01]: All right, cool.
- 32:27[SPEAKER_01]: Is this a team that can go on a playoff run
- 32:33[SPEAKER_01]: If we could say, yes, to these things, then we have a team that is capable of winning at all, whether that's state championship, Super Bowl, whatever else, a lot of the coaching rooms in the NFL don't use the verbage that a lot of fans do, and it's just a Super Bowl window.
- 32:51[SPEAKER_01]: Super Bowl, but like, can you win your division?
- 32:55[SPEAKER_01]: Can you win on the road in the playoffs?
- 32:57[SPEAKER_01]: If you can answer those two questions, then you're in it.
- 33:01[SPEAKER_01]: you're in it.
- 33:01[SPEAKER_01]: The idea of, are we gonna win a Super Bowl with this roster?
- 33:05[SPEAKER_01]: That's right.
- 33:06[SPEAKER_01]: And I understand the fans that feel that way, especially with the Niners Not Winning Super Bowl in so long.
- 33:11[SPEAKER_01]: I understand that.
- 33:12[SPEAKER_01]: But if you approach the roster building phase with that boomer bus, Super Bowl or bus mentality,
- 33:20[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not sure that's the healthiest way to build a team in the NFL and I don't think that's what the Niners are really doing.
- 33:27[SPEAKER_01]: And so yeah, you do have 70 million dollars.
- 33:29[SPEAKER_01]: But again, and you've heard Kyle and John say this, let's wait till we get in the season and see what we got.
- 33:35[SPEAKER_01]: Once we're there, then we could proceed accordingly.
- 33:39[SPEAKER_01]: This is just their MO, and it's what they've done.
- 33:42[SPEAKER_01]: I think it's what they're going to continue to do.
- 33:44[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 33:44[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, to me, this is the move that costs a lot.
- 33:49[SPEAKER_00]: So it's not going to be your first move.
- 33:51[SPEAKER_00]: It's going to be your final move.
- 33:53[SPEAKER_00]: You know what I mean?
- 33:54[SPEAKER_00]: Because this is the move that's going to cost a lot.
- 33:56[SPEAKER_00]: And I don't think I want to spend a lot until I know
- 34:00[SPEAKER_00]: that I'm going to be in the mix until then, I got a room full of scouts that I'm paying pretty good cake to, I'm pro personnel scouts, they're getting paid that cake for a reason.
- 34:15[SPEAKER_00]: You guys go grind, you find me a good edge russia that fits our scheme, preferably a half dozen of them that are all going to be available either by trade or at the cut down in August.
- 34:29[SPEAKER_00]: And then we'll start there.
- 34:30[SPEAKER_00]: We'll see if there's a, you know, obviously you start internally with McCyle, Kamara and the guy at Ramello, hi, and all the guys you got.
- 34:37[SPEAKER_00]: Hopefully you have plenty on the roster.
- 34:39[SPEAKER_00]: But if not, the first step is
- 34:41[SPEAKER_00]: the perusal of everybody else's roster because you might be able to find an unearthed incredible gem.
- 34:49[SPEAKER_00]: You know, it's every time there's a reshuffling of personnel around the NFL, there's a chance that you can get better or worse.
- 34:57[SPEAKER_00]: And that'll be where I would start.
- 34:59[SPEAKER_00]: And then see how the first six weeks goes.
- 35:02[SPEAKER_00]: And if it goes really great,
- 35:04[SPEAKER_00]: And you're one piece away, and that piece is a defense event, and you feel like you can make a deal, then make a deal and be aggressive.
- 35:13[SPEAKER_00]: I would love to know if Garrett to the Rams has changed their thinking at all.
- 35:19[SPEAKER_00]: You know, if it's just like, you know what, we want to do it this way, but now that Garrett's in LA, we really have changed our minds that they would never admit that, of course, publicly.
- 35:30[SPEAKER_00]: But I'd love to know if their mindset has changed or if maybe the fact that the Eagles are another team that might have interest in Crosby.
- 35:37[SPEAKER_00]: Did that, does that in any way change the 49ers opinion on how aggressive they want to get in whatever offer they they ultimately make if they make one.
- 35:47[SPEAKER_00]: but that's how I look at it.
- 35:48[SPEAKER_00]: All right, let's do this.
- 35:49[SPEAKER_00]: Let's let's do our price picks lineup and then we will We will jump over and talk a little a little i-yuk Price picks is America's number one sports picks app the reason I like it it's simple you just pick and more or less
- 36:01[SPEAKER_00]: on player stats or game outcomes.
- 36:03[SPEAKER_00]: You build your lineup in your end.
- 36:04[SPEAKER_00]: No complicated stuff.
- 36:05[SPEAKER_00]: Just what you think is going to happen in the game.
- 36:07[SPEAKER_00]: So use code j H M A play $5 get $50 in line up instantly.
- 36:12[SPEAKER_00]: The link is in the description.
- 36:14[SPEAKER_00]: All right.
- 36:14[SPEAKER_00]: We'll put move John and I to the corner and we'll share the screen.
- 36:18[SPEAKER_00]: We'll put our prize picks line up there.
- 36:19[SPEAKER_00]: We're going to go NFL futures on that and then we'll come over here and just make it all look pretty by having the right format.
- 36:29[SPEAKER_00]: look at that.
- 36:29[SPEAKER_00]: All right, unbelievable.
- 36:32[SPEAKER_00]: All right.
- 36:32[SPEAKER_00]: So let's go NFL futures, John.
- 36:36[SPEAKER_00]: And this is just, these are long, these are season long stats on the NFL.
- 36:41[SPEAKER_00]: Any of these guys do you have passion about?
- 36:43[SPEAKER_00]: Who can to coup a Dak Prescott, Gentie Caleb, Josh Allen, Stafford, Bija, JSN.
- 36:50[SPEAKER_00]: Drake may basically all the top players in the league, right?
- 36:53[SPEAKER_00]: Um, is there any one that jumps out to you there?
- 36:57[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, the Ashton genty, I like not so much that I think he's going to have like a hellacious year, but his overunder is so low.
- 37:06[SPEAKER_01]: 9 74.
- 37:08[SPEAKER_01]: They're going to feed him the ball.
- 37:10[SPEAKER_01]: Like, like, I just think that with the additions that they made with the
- 37:20[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, no question.
- 37:21[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to go down here, um, who is the one that I saw that I really have conviction on, uh, wait a second.
- 37:30[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, here it is.
- 37:31[SPEAKER_00]: Will Anderson.
- 37:32[SPEAKER_00]: I think will Anderson, you know, that defense is, you know, it's not, it's, it's in its prime 12.
- 37:43[SPEAKER_01]: what Houston is built, that's the best defense in the league.
- 37:46[SPEAKER_00]: This is the best edge Russia on the best defense in the league.
- 37:48[SPEAKER_00]: And you tell me he's not going to have 12 sacks.
- 37:50[SPEAKER_00]: I think he is.
- 37:51[SPEAKER_00]: So I'll go I'll go 11.2 sacks over or more.
- 37:57[SPEAKER_00]: I like that.
- 37:58[SPEAKER_00]: Is there a third that we like here?
- 38:01[SPEAKER_01]: We've got two more.
- 38:02[SPEAKER_01]: We need an under.
- 38:04[SPEAKER_01]: We need an under.
- 38:06[SPEAKER_01]: Man, I'm struggling here.
- 38:10[SPEAKER_00]: I think I could go ahead.
- 38:11[SPEAKER_00]: Go ahead.
- 38:11[SPEAKER_00]: Go ahead.
- 38:12[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to say Derek Henry has to stop at some point in 1275 like he could have another amazing year and rush for 1100 yards and still get paid despite the fact that he's like 34.
- 38:25[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know if he is 34.
- 38:28[SPEAKER_01]: I think he's 34.
- 38:29[SPEAKER_01]: I'm looking at up now.
- 38:32[SPEAKER_00]: He's older.
- 38:33[SPEAKER_01]: He's older.
- 38:34[SPEAKER_01]: He's got a lot of mileage.
- 38:36[SPEAKER_01]: Lot of mileage.
- 38:37[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm not saying he's going to have a bad year, but 1275.
- 38:41[SPEAKER_01]: Like that's yeah, he's 32.
- 38:43[SPEAKER_01]: He's 32.
- 38:43[SPEAKER_01]: Like he could have 1200 yards and still get paid.
- 38:47[SPEAKER_01]: So like that number's just too high for me.
- 38:51[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to go the one that I kind of like is I kind of like the I like this player a lot but I like the less on 1199.5 Rush yards for Jamir Gibbs.
- 39:03[SPEAKER_00]: Now I know Montgomery's not there anymore, but I just think the lions are in a division with some good offensive teams.
- 39:09[SPEAKER_00]: They're going to have to score points.
- 39:11[SPEAKER_00]: You know that to me this this guy is almost better as a receiver than as a runner.
- 39:18[SPEAKER_00]: He's really good at both, but
- 39:20[SPEAKER_00]: I like him under 1,200 yards, I think he's especially since he's going to have to run some of those harder carries that Montgomery would get in the past between the tackles.
- 39:32[SPEAKER_00]: I think there's a price that you pay physically for that, and I think that drives his numbers down a little bit.
- 39:40[SPEAKER_00]: His average per carry goes down, I think his total rushing yards go down even though there's no Montgomery.
- 39:46[SPEAKER_00]: Um, I Gibbs under.
- 39:49[SPEAKER_00]: So let's do this.
- 39:49[SPEAKER_00]: Let's put those those together and we'll put five on it.
- 39:55[SPEAKER_00]: We'll submit our line up and it takes just a second.
- 39:59[SPEAKER_00]: There it is.
- 39:59[SPEAKER_00]: Now we will view our line up and we have a four-pick power play.
- 40:04[SPEAKER_00]: $5 pays us 50.
- 40:05[SPEAKER_00]: Gentys got to go for 975 rush yards.
- 40:07[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 40:09[SPEAKER_00]: Will Anderson's got to have 12 sex or 11.5 sex, I should say.
- 40:14[SPEAKER_00]: If you as 11.5, you go over your winner winner.
- 40:17[SPEAKER_00]: Derek Henry, you've got to have less than 1274.5 rush yards, and Jamir Gibbs, less than 1,199.5 rush yards.
- 40:28[SPEAKER_00]: If we go for, for four, our four-pick power plate turns five dollars into 50.
- 40:35[SPEAKER_00]: So thank you to prize picks for being a proud sponsor of the crude show.
- 40:40[SPEAKER_00]: Really appreciate those guys to do a great job.
- 40:43[SPEAKER_00]: Um, thank you to prize picks for being a great sponsor of the crew show.
- 40:46[SPEAKER_00]: We were appreciate them.
- 40:46[SPEAKER_00]: Great.
- 40:47[SPEAKER_00]: All right.
- 40:47[SPEAKER_00]: Let's do this.
- 40:48[SPEAKER_00]: Let's share the screen and this also caught my eye this week and that is the latest on Brandon.
- 40:58[SPEAKER_00]: I you.
- 40:59[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, here it goes.
- 41:01[SPEAKER_00]: Hey, yeah, according to multiple league sources, the Niners, this is Jason Law confer report are finally prepared to move on from Brandon Ayuk, according to Law Confora, the expectation is that Ayuk will be released before the start of training camp.
- 41:14[SPEAKER_00]: Now, Law Confora has not had a sterling record of being right.
- 41:19[SPEAKER_01]: In fact, I don't think he's ever been right about the Niners.
- 41:21[SPEAKER_00]: He's been wrong and awful lot, and this kind of,
- 41:27[SPEAKER_00]: This kind of non-sourced story seems like there's a lot of NFL people who do this.
- 41:34[SPEAKER_00]: It's like they have pretty good knowledge and they know some people are on the league.
- 41:38[SPEAKER_00]: And then they don't actually go and confirm anything.
- 41:41[SPEAKER_00]: They just kind of call a few people and float some ideas and then just guess and then call it reporting.
- 41:48[SPEAKER_00]: I think that's really what he's doing here.
- 41:49[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think he's got a source.
- 41:51[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think anybody with the Niners has told Jason Lawken for this is what's going on.
- 41:56[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think that at all.
- 41:57[SPEAKER_01]: Nobody from the Niners talks to him.
- 41:59[SPEAKER_00]: I, my guess is, is that he just looks at this situation.
- 42:03[SPEAKER_00]: And it's like, it's the kind of report that, you know, OK, before the start of training camp, OK?
- 42:12[SPEAKER_00]: But I mean, I mean, what happens if getting training camp starts, and he's still on the team.
- 42:17[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I don't know.
- 42:18[SPEAKER_00]: It just, it doesn't seem like, I don't want to say
- 42:25[SPEAKER_00]: Just doesn't seem like it seems like he's just reading the tea leaves and guessing and there's no real downside to being wrong here.
- 42:31[SPEAKER_00]: It's just kind of another newsmaker.
- 42:34[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
- 42:35[SPEAKER_00]: I don't believe the Niners have told him that and I don't believe the Niners have promised him that.
- 42:40[SPEAKER_00]: But what do you think of the report?
- 42:43[SPEAKER_01]: Well, whenever you look at the do not report and how the cap works and the payouts working all those things, when I you doesn't show up, they don't have to pay.
- 42:51[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, there's certain parts, the total guarantees, those are out there, but by him not showing up, you get to keep resetting and reclaiming more money year after year after year after year.
- 43:02[SPEAKER_01]: So if I, you, doesn't show up, the Niners releasing him will trigger all of the things that like it costs the 49ers money to do that.
- 43:13[SPEAKER_01]: So
- 43:14[SPEAKER_01]: it literally makes no sense at all like the 49ers already in it and like people are like, well, you just want to get that guy off your team.
- 43:22[SPEAKER_01]: He's not on the team.
- 43:23[SPEAKER_01]: He's not in the building.
- 43:24[SPEAKER_01]: He has not reported.
- 43:26[SPEAKER_01]: He's not part of the like the numbers already went through the iU drama, the roster and the you know the locker room.
- 43:33[SPEAKER_01]: They ain't got deal with that shit no more.
- 43:34[SPEAKER_01]: They really, really don't.
- 43:35[SPEAKER_01]: So like
- 43:37[SPEAKER_01]: This is what's funny.
- 43:38[SPEAKER_01]: It's like people are like, well, they got to do it because it makes the Niners look bad.
- 43:41[SPEAKER_01]: This doesn't make the Niners look bad to anybody.
- 43:43[SPEAKER_01]: Really the Niners look bad.
- 43:45[SPEAKER_01]: That's why Mike Evans chose them.
- 43:47[SPEAKER_01]: It took less money that that's why Kirk took less money and chose them because they look bad in this brain and I you everybody TJ who's a vanilla for the whole
- 43:59[SPEAKER_01]: NFL commercial champion chip.
- 44:02[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's right.
- 44:03[SPEAKER_01]: Tim Brady.
- 44:05[SPEAKER_01]: Like his wide receiver coat said, yeah, Brandon got changed days.
- 44:09[SPEAKER_01]: There you know why I want to work with him.
- 44:10[SPEAKER_01]: This makes I you look bad.
- 44:12[SPEAKER_01]: You can put up all the videos and all of them whatever and like I have the words, Brandon and I you muted on every single social media.
- 44:19[SPEAKER_01]: So I don't have to see this scrap, but it's like
- 44:23[SPEAKER_01]: This guy and again, and I think I've said this on the show before Larry, I really hope things turn around for them.
- 44:29[SPEAKER_01]: I am in like worried about the humanity that is Brandon and I youke and I just wish somebody that has his ear would say, dude, swallow your damn pride.
- 44:40[SPEAKER_01]: They paid you all this money, show up, force their hand,
- 44:45[SPEAKER_01]: Then they cut you, then move on to sign with another team.
- 44:49[SPEAKER_01]: That's the way to do it.
- 44:50[SPEAKER_01]: Everything that he, you know, this debug playbook, debug playbook on steroids of trying to force the $40 hands, it's just didn't work in me and he's just tripling quadrupling down.
- 45:04[SPEAKER_01]: And it just makes him look like an idiot.
- 45:05[SPEAKER_01]: And I hope that he's all right, but he doesn't seem all right.
- 45:10[SPEAKER_00]: It makes you wonder, I had Ryan Fowler on, he now works in Philly for NBC Philadelphia, but he worked last year in Washington covering the commanders.
- 45:21[SPEAKER_00]: And I said, what do you think of I you to the commanders?
- 45:24[SPEAKER_00]: And he's like, you know, I don't know that they're interested.
- 45:29[SPEAKER_00]: I'm like, what?
- 45:31[SPEAKER_00]: Really?
- 45:32[SPEAKER_00]: He's like, yeah, I mean, you know, and he mentioned, hey, look, they have Terry McLaren.
- 45:36[SPEAKER_00]: They have Traylon Berks.
- 45:37[SPEAKER_00]: They have Antonio Williams.
- 45:38[SPEAKER_00]: They brought back to Yami Brown.
- 45:40[SPEAKER_00]: They have Luke McAfrey.
- 45:42[SPEAKER_00]: They have Jalen Lane.
- 45:43[SPEAKER_00]: They have Chris Hilton as an undrafted guy.
- 45:46[SPEAKER_00]: They brought in Van Jefferson.
- 45:48[SPEAKER_00]: They had the former San Jose steak star Nick Nash.
- 45:51[SPEAKER_00]: He's like, they got a lot of receivers.
- 45:53[SPEAKER_00]: And they're talking about trying to go after Stefan Diggs.
- 45:57[SPEAKER_00]: And Diggs, you know, is went to Maryland.
- 45:59[SPEAKER_01]: Diggs has less baggage than I use.
- 46:01[SPEAKER_01]: That's insane, but it's amazing.
- 46:05[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, we're talking about co kind of boat and all that and that's the clean guy.
- 46:11[SPEAKER_00]: Very nice.
- 46:11[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 46:12[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 46:13[SPEAKER_00]: But I mean,
- 46:14[SPEAKER_00]: I asked Ryan I said if I you keep in goes to Washington does he even for sure make the team and he's like I don't know you know I mean it's like we don't know I mean we don't know what he's going to look like or how to manage he is but I mean it's not like it's a lay up I mean if he's the I you've all yeah he's better than these other guys, but if he's diminished he might not be good enough to make the team
- 46:37[SPEAKER_01]: Well, let me ask you this Larry.
- 46:38[SPEAKER_01]: Let's say you're in the personnel department for a franchise.
- 46:41[SPEAKER_01]: Are you going to sign off convinced me the coach or the GM?
- 46:45[SPEAKER_01]: Why should we bring this guy on?
- 46:47[SPEAKER_01]: He is a nightmare.
- 46:48[SPEAKER_01]: Tell me, Larry, like, why do we want to risk this circus?
- 46:52[SPEAKER_01]: Why would we do this?
- 46:53[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
- 46:53[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, Adam Peters, I'm sure is going to have that conversation with with Dan Quint, right?
- 47:00[SPEAKER_00]: Like, hey, look.
- 47:01[SPEAKER_00]: I know this guy from San Francisco is there when we drafted him and you know he's not a bad guy just you know this thing kind of spiraled out of control and he maybe has gotten some bad advice and yeah he blew the contract language and his rehab but it was all because he was hurt because the team didn't want him anymore and he kind of knew it.
- 47:19[SPEAKER_00]: I mean I think there are plausible reasons
- 47:26[SPEAKER_00]: It's ridiculously dumb because you cost yourself somewhere between $27 and $30 million and you only have a limited amount of time to make that money and now you're throwing yourself back into the kind of the free agent market with a knee that's been torn up with three ligaments torn.
- 47:43[SPEAKER_00]: You know, where your value, you're, you went from a premier top tier receiver that didn't even need to show up in camp to now you're only going to get a one year prove it minimum type deal.
- 47:55[SPEAKER_00]: I would think, right?
- 47:56[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, what do you think, what do you think ultimately he gets contractually?
- 48:00[SPEAKER_01]: Man, it would be no guarantees.
- 48:02[SPEAKER_01]: It would be a vet, mineral, minimum deal with all incentives.
- 48:07[SPEAKER_01]: Like, you know, you're getting a million if you hit 400 yards, you're getting a million if you hit 500 or you're like, that's how you'd have to build it.
- 48:14[SPEAKER_01]: You gotta have a short clause in the damn contract.
- 48:17[SPEAKER_01]: So let's you show up to practice dress, right?
- 48:19[SPEAKER_01]: Like you've gotta have, okay, no speed around film in yourself.
- 48:23[SPEAKER_01]: You've gotta have, hey, you can't put opponents
- 48:30[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, this is just I don't know man.
- 48:33[SPEAKER_01]: Like I just is it worth it.
- 48:35[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think so and his best friend quote unquote is the quarterback JJ Daniels who you build in your entire franchise around Yeah, he likes them.
- 48:44[SPEAKER_01]: Do I want this guy hanging around my quarterback of the future?
- 48:48[SPEAKER_01]: Hell no like not even because what happens if Brennan, I you who has played in two years comes out and we have to bench him now
- 48:58[SPEAKER_01]: how's that going to go over is he going to pull the locker like these are questions that have to be asked and I'm sitting there saying I'm not signing up for somebody how often do we hear John Lynch and Kyle Shanahan we want guys that love football can you say that about Brandon and I you do is get paid $30 million a year to play football and he's going to show up.
- 49:20[SPEAKER_00]: It's weird too.
- 49:21[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, the commanders had Debo last year and he led them in almost all offensive categories.
- 49:29[SPEAKER_00]: They didn't bring them back, but they're going to bring back this guy.
- 49:33[SPEAKER_00]: That's kind of bizarre.
- 49:34[SPEAKER_01]: No, man.
- 49:35[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not doing it.
- 49:36[SPEAKER_01]: I know somebody would out of 32 teams, somebody would.
- 49:39[SPEAKER_01]: The talent is there.
- 49:40[SPEAKER_01]: I get it.
- 49:40[SPEAKER_01]: I get it.
- 49:41[SPEAKER_01]: I get it.
- 49:42[SPEAKER_01]: But man, I'm just completely out on this.
- 49:45[SPEAKER_01]: And I'll let somebody else take a chance and let them deal with that.
- 49:48[SPEAKER_01]: If he could prove he could play for somebody else and then come out cool.
- 49:52[SPEAKER_01]: But no, man, you're not going to be hanging around Jane Daniels.
- 49:55[SPEAKER_01]: I do not want you in that room.
- 49:57[SPEAKER_00]: Let's hit a few topics on the way out the door and then we'll bolt for the door.
- 50:04[SPEAKER_00]: Alden Smith died at 36.
- 50:06[SPEAKER_00]: Since we last talked, he is no longer with us and tragic.
- 50:13[SPEAKER_00]: Just a tragic thing.
- 50:15[SPEAKER_00]: I interviewed him a lot when he was with the Niners.
- 50:18[SPEAKER_00]: He was a great guy to talk to after games.
- 50:21[SPEAKER_00]: I go to guys where guys like, you know, Dante Whitner, Alex Boone, but you know, I would love to go talk to Alden and he was a rookie at the time and we just we really hit it off and he was so good in the post game.
- 50:37[SPEAKER_00]: And he would always would give you time.
- 50:39[SPEAKER_00]: He had a lot to say, had great high football intellect, especially for a really young player.
- 50:45[SPEAKER_00]: And just an amazing, I mean, one of the greatest talents I've ever seen as far as length and strength and quickness and ability.
- 50:55[SPEAKER_00]: But his first two years in the league, he was almost as dominant as any defense of end that ever played.
- 51:01[SPEAKER_00]: It's like a Bruce Smith clone.
- 51:03[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, it's just absolutely amazing watching the guy.
- 51:07[SPEAKER_00]: And yet he had demons and his career was cut to short.
- 51:10[SPEAKER_00]: And then now ultimately his life, I mean, to lose to not have life at the age of 36, so tragic, such a, you know, doing a lot of good things on the day that he died, donating pizzas to a high school and
- 51:25[SPEAKER_00]: You know, just very, very sad, very, very sad.
- 51:29[SPEAKER_00]: And I know the nine-year family's very sad.
- 51:31[SPEAKER_00]: I will say this before I get your thoughts on it.
- 51:33[SPEAKER_00]: I want to credit the 49er organization because all of the Smith did not make the 49er organization look good throughout his tenure with the Niners.
- 51:42[SPEAKER_00]: He did make them look very good initially, but then he had his crash in burn moments and moments that were, you know, it was not good moments for the team.
- 51:54[SPEAKER_00]: And yet after his career was over, when he was of no use to them at all, couldn't help them win games, couldn't help them make money, and yet the 49ers in the Golden Heart Fund put their arm around him.
- 52:09[SPEAKER_00]: They saw a young man in need and they said, hey, you know what, come over here, hang with us, be part of us.
- 52:16[SPEAKER_00]: And so I think the 49ers were very much his extended family, they invited he just was on campus talking to the rookies at the in the OTA period.
- 52:27[SPEAKER_00]: And they gave him, you know, they treated him like none of the bad things that happened ever happened.
- 52:34[SPEAKER_00]: And I just think, I've great, you know, the sports teams, I mean, that you've heard it, we've all heard it.
- 52:39[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, the NFL will chew you up and spit you out and when they're done using you, you know, there's the freaking door.
- 52:46[SPEAKER_00]: And it sounds cold, but it's actually kind of true in a lot of cases.
- 52:50[SPEAKER_00]: But I credit the 49ers because the Golden Heart Fund is unique and they do take care of their own, they do care about their players.
- 52:57[SPEAKER_00]: They can talk about being a family because to a large degree, they treat it like a family and they welcome guys like that back who have lots of problems, lots of teams would have said, hey man, you did this and this and this and this, you're not welcome here.
- 53:12[SPEAKER_00]: And the 49ers said, hey, you know what?
- 53:14[SPEAKER_00]: You're welcome here because they saw that he was a troubled young guy that needed guidance needed assistance needed help.
- 53:20[SPEAKER_00]: And so I just want to say congratulations to the 49ers for not abandoning
- 53:26[SPEAKER_00]: a player who was in need.
- 53:29[SPEAKER_00]: Just because he was no longer of financial use to them.
- 53:33[SPEAKER_00]: And I know that's the right thing to do.
- 53:36[SPEAKER_00]: And we're just crediting them for doing the right thing.
- 53:39[SPEAKER_00]: But there are so many freaking teams that just treat the players like they're just absolute dirt when they're no longer useful to them.
- 53:46[SPEAKER_00]: That to me, it stands out like a sore thumb.
- 53:50[SPEAKER_00]: And I credit
- 53:55[SPEAKER_01]: it's just one of the many reminders the humanity behind these players and team and stories and you know we love sports because it makes us feel we love sports because it brings people together and we love sports because you know we live our lives to enjoy these moments and whatever and all them played a role in that made my life better.
- 54:19[SPEAKER_01]: I love that he was spending his time making other people's lives better delivering pizzas to kids like the day that he passed 36 years old.
- 54:27[SPEAKER_01]: It's awful.
- 54:29[SPEAKER_01]: And so man, recipes and I just thankful for who he was and feel so bad for anybody that was involved in his life and just grant them grace.
- 54:49[SPEAKER_01]: And just man, a constant reminder of our time here, very, very short, and to not take it for granted.
- 54:56[SPEAKER_01]: So thank you for bringing that up, Larry.
- 54:58[SPEAKER_01]: I appreciate that and well said, yeah, we'll know.
- 55:00[SPEAKER_00]: And well said by you, because you're right, you don't know what people are going through.
- 55:04[SPEAKER_00]: We all need to be a little bit more sensitive to one another, because you don't know what someone's going through.
- 55:11[SPEAKER_00]: And I always try to say that to, I try to remind that to my, my children when they go out in the world, I'm like, hey, look,
- 55:16[SPEAKER_00]: you know, don't battle with people because you just don't know.
- 55:19[SPEAKER_00]: You don't know what and then maybe they just lost, you know, family member.
- 55:22[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe they just went through a tragedy.
- 55:24[SPEAKER_00]: And now you're going to pick a scab on somebody and they're going to explode and go, you know, you just don't know.
- 55:30[SPEAKER_00]: So it's treat try to peep try to instead of inciting people.
- 55:33[SPEAKER_00]: We've a lot of people.
- 55:34[SPEAKER_00]: It seems like you see it all over the internet.
- 55:36[SPEAKER_00]: you know, something happens in a grocery store, or something, somebody's deciding somebody else.
- 55:40[SPEAKER_00]: Somebody's deciding somebody in a parking lot.
- 55:42[SPEAKER_00]: Somebody's, you know, escalating, something don't escalate things.
- 55:46[SPEAKER_00]: Don't, don't, don't be that person that escalates.
- 55:49[SPEAKER_00]: If anything, try to diffuse, try to diffuse, I think it's, that's good, it's a, it's a good lesson for all of us.
- 55:56[SPEAKER_00]: All right, couple last thoughts before we both for the door.
- 56:01[SPEAKER_00]: Colin Coward did a whole video today.
- 56:03[SPEAKER_00]: Man, when I look at the Niners, I just don't get the plan.
- 56:06[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think they, you doesn't feel right.
- 56:08[SPEAKER_00]: It doesn't look right.
- 56:09[SPEAKER_00]: They're old.
- 56:09[SPEAKER_00]: They're brittle.
- 56:10[SPEAKER_00]: They're expensive.
- 56:11[SPEAKER_00]: It's not going to age well.
- 56:13[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, it's just like, and it's easy to call the Niners old, because you've got, they've got some great players there in the Twilight.
- 56:20[SPEAKER_00]: But part of the stats that make them older than they are, are guys like John Weeks as a long snapper.
- 56:26[SPEAKER_00]: where they could have had a rookie long snapper, but instead we've got like a 40-year-old long snapper.
- 56:31[SPEAKER_00]: So you got, you know, last year they had Thomas Moore's stead.
- 56:34[SPEAKER_00]: So sometimes you got to look a little closer.
- 56:36[SPEAKER_00]: The Niners have a lot of young players on the roster, but they also have, you know, a core of their, of their best known players are all in the twilight of their prime.
- 56:49[SPEAKER_00]: So, I'll throw it to you, Johnny.
- 56:51[SPEAKER_00]: Do you agree?
- 56:52[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, cowards of ram and seahawk honk and he's pretty much anti-niner and he's always just trying to incite people.
- 56:58[SPEAKER_00]: But does he have a point?
- 57:00[SPEAKER_00]: Are then is this niner group?
- 57:02[SPEAKER_00]: Do you look at him?
- 57:03[SPEAKER_00]: If there is their downfall going to be that they're too old, too brittle, and the schedule in the age is going to catch up with them and it's not going to be their year.
- 57:12[SPEAKER_00]: What is it?
- 57:12[SPEAKER_01]: No, I really, really don't, whenever you look past a couple of the names at the top of the roster, I think you realize really, really quick that the Niners have undertaken a youth movement through the majority of this roster, especially on the defense attack room.
- 57:27[SPEAKER_01]: You don't have one of the eight guys, the defense attack room over 28.
- 57:32[SPEAKER_01]: Like, the core is young.
- 57:35[SPEAKER_01]: You still have your staple Hall of Famers, and that's a great thing.
- 57:41[SPEAKER_01]: Um, but yeah, anytime you floreo or cowherd, you know, they're anti-niner guys that are going to always put out negative Kyle Shanahan negative whatever because they were wrong on brought pretty because They're like you said, you know, Rams Homer whenever you talk about call cowherd.
- 57:58[SPEAKER_01]: I think Calhard writes his own takes.
- 58:00[SPEAKER_01]: I know for a fact, like, a lot of his writers give him a script and write it as it and it's what it is.
- 58:06[SPEAKER_01]: And that's okay.
- 58:07[SPEAKER_01]: Congratulations to him.
- 58:08[SPEAKER_01]: I celebrate other people's success.
- 58:10[SPEAKER_01]: He wants money.
- 58:11[SPEAKER_01]: He's got money.
- 58:11[SPEAKER_01]: Football knowledge, not so much.
- 58:14[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think he's been a time grinded tape or anything like that.
- 58:17[SPEAKER_01]: But...
- 58:18[SPEAKER_01]: No, whenever you look through this roster, you know, we're doing a roster countdown where we break down, you know, one through 91 every player this roster versus the other, you know, we've done this for seven years now, this is one of the most difficult to crack that top 30 because there's so many young guys fighting for spots or so many young breakout players that could break out haven't done it yet.
- 58:38[SPEAKER_01]: But there's a lot of talent that are in the first second, third year and for all the negatives that people want to give the $40 for drafting, there are a lot of singles and doubles on this roster that are quality players, maybe not pro pullers, but hey, you got 22 starters.
- 58:56[SPEAKER_01]: on offense of defense every single team does you're not going to have 22 pro bowlers the nighters have a lot of depth behind their stars that are younger players like Dominic puny yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah like deonitor linoid like rinoid or green if you want it but like you can go on and there's a lot of guys that just need to take that final step this is a good roster Larry
- 59:15[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, no, I think so too, you know, we're going to see, we're going to see there's a nice and a lot, we used to do an exercise with the Cardinals every year at this time.
- 59:25[SPEAKER_00]: And we would look at our roster and I'm thinking about doing doing one on this tomorrow.
- 59:30[SPEAKER_00]: And we basically it's just the only three options, the options and we don't debate it.
- 59:38[SPEAKER_00]: It's the the arrows pointing up the arrows pointing down.
- 59:43[SPEAKER_00]: or the arrows literally neutral, right?
- 59:46[SPEAKER_00]: Those are the three options.
- 59:47[SPEAKER_00]: Trent Williams, love Trent Williams, arrows pointing down.
- 59:52[SPEAKER_00]: CMC, love CMC, arrows pointing down.
- 59:55[SPEAKER_00]: George Kittle, love George Kittle, arrows pointing down.
- 59:58[SPEAKER_00]: But guess what, you know, Grayson Halton, arrows pointing up, you know, remote low height, the arrows pointing up.
- 1:00:04[SPEAKER_00]: And if you go through this roster what you're gonna find is there's a lot, a lot of arrows pointing up.
- 1:00:12[SPEAKER_00]: When there's a lot of arrows pointing up, that means that you're going to get better as a team, generally, because there's a lot more arrows pointing up than there are arrows pointing down.
- 1:00:21[SPEAKER_00]: And, and so I do think that's going to, that's a good sign for the 49ers.
- 1:00:26[SPEAKER_00]: All right, two last thoughts before we call it a day.
- 1:00:31[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to share the screen on this one.
- 1:00:32[SPEAKER_00]: This is an interesting tweet.
- 1:00:33[SPEAKER_00]: Coach Yack had this.
- 1:00:35[SPEAKER_00]: And FL executives coaches and scouts pick the eight best signings trades and draft picks this off season.
- 1:00:40[SPEAKER_00]: I think this was a Jeremy Fowler, ESPN piece.
- 1:00:44[SPEAKER_00]: And the Niners made the list two times.
- 1:00:46[SPEAKER_00]: They're trade for OSO Digi Zua and their draft pick of Deshawn Sterling.
- 1:00:50[SPEAKER_00]: And here are the two quotes.
- 1:00:52[SPEAKER_00]: The quote on Odigizio, he says that the free agency class was weak at defensive tackle, so San Francisco tapped into the previous class to find one.
- 1:01:00[SPEAKER_00]: This march, the Niners, tried to sign interior Russia, John Frank on Myers, who agreed in terms of the Titans, then they pivoted to Odigizua, who was expendable due to the Cowboys' acquisition of Quinn and Williams in November, getting a quality tackle for a third round pick was considered solid value.
- 1:01:15[SPEAKER_00]: And the quote from the NFL anonymous executive is, good player, perfect scheme fit, good pricing, excellent contract to inherit.
- 1:01:26[SPEAKER_00]: And NFC executive said of why San Francisco made a sound move.
- 1:01:30[SPEAKER_00]: So that was, that was their thoughts on Odegi Zu and then the thoughts on scribbling are pretty good too.
- 1:01:35[SPEAKER_00]: He says many evaluators like the pickup at 33 thought was questioned by the fans and the media members at the time as a reach as one of the April's biggest surprises.
- 1:01:45[SPEAKER_00]: Stribbling was a late riser in the process and the wide receiver is considered an ideal fit for Kyle Cheneyne's offense.
- 1:01:52[SPEAKER_00]: Here's the quote.
- 1:01:53[SPEAKER_00]: He was going within the first five to ten picks in the second round and NFC
- 1:01:58[SPEAKER_00]: That was not a reach at all.
- 1:02:00[SPEAKER_00]: He can really play.
- 1:02:02[SPEAKER_00]: So those were the anonymous executives favorite moves of the offseason.
- 1:02:07[SPEAKER_00]: Stribbling at 33 and Odygi Zua and round three.
- 1:02:11[SPEAKER_00]: If I threw that question to you, give me two moves this offseason that you love.
- 1:02:18[SPEAKER_00]: What are you going with?
- 1:02:19[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going with Drake Greenlaw, my favorite player in the NFL.
- 1:02:22[SPEAKER_01]: I love Drake.
- 1:02:23[SPEAKER_01]: It just changes the entire tone of a game.
- 1:02:27[SPEAKER_01]: And so that was huge in Mike Evans, like that veteran leadership on both sides of the ball, that's huge.
- 1:02:32[SPEAKER_01]: But like I'll say this again, to Sean Strivley, we do 13 players every single year that we just love in the draft.
- 1:02:39[SPEAKER_01]: He was a rush crush.
- 1:02:40[SPEAKER_01]: I absolutely loved him.
- 1:02:42[SPEAKER_01]: Did I have him 33 ranked overall?
- 1:02:44[SPEAKER_01]: I did not.
- 1:02:45[SPEAKER_01]: but you get good players that fit and check all the boxes.
- 1:02:50[SPEAKER_01]: I love to Sean Stripley and in the fact that it gets a learn behind my ovens.
- 1:02:53[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, we go.
- 1:02:54[SPEAKER_01]: It's like an internship program man for greatness.
- 1:02:57[SPEAKER_01]: Um, absolute perfect fit.
- 1:02:59[SPEAKER_01]: I love this Stripley move.
- 1:03:01[SPEAKER_00]: I like K-lon black, I mean, I love K-lon black's traits, but then when I saw him in the mini-camp, I mean, he was amazing.
- 1:03:11[SPEAKER_00]: He was fast, he was explosive, he caught the ball, we know he can block, he's really strong.
- 1:03:18[SPEAKER_00]: So I like K-lon black, I think he's going to have a huge impact on this football team.
- 1:03:23[SPEAKER_00]: With the second one, I'm kind of torn because I mean, I could go with a lot of different guys,
- 1:03:31[SPEAKER_00]: I like two of the undrafted guys a lot.
- 1:03:33[SPEAKER_00]: I like James Thompson Jr. from Illinois.
- 1:03:37[SPEAKER_00]: He's just so freaking strong and like he's pretty quick.
- 1:03:42[SPEAKER_00]: We're talking about a guy who's like 6, 6, 3, 10 and has the strongest upper body of any of their delinement.
- 1:03:51[SPEAKER_00]: You know, it doesn't mean that he's going to be functionally strong like an Alfred Collins who's, you know, really rooted in the ground or CJ West who's enormously strong, but James Thompson, in the bench is quite a bit stronger than both those guys, and you could see that strength.
- 1:04:08[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, it's really impressive.
- 1:04:11[SPEAKER_00]: And he looked good in the shrine practices.
- 1:04:14[SPEAKER_00]: I know there are people that don't think he can stay healthy, questions about the shoulders, all this and that to me he's looks amazing and the practice field I'm loving what I'm seeing and I can't think I'm really excited about him.
- 1:04:25[SPEAKER_00]: The other guy I really like is a lot of people talking about Jane Dugger but I like Larry worth the third from Arkansas.
- 1:04:31[SPEAKER_00]: There's just something about this player.
- 1:04:33[SPEAKER_00]: He is so big, so rangey, so fast.
- 1:04:37[SPEAKER_00]: And yet, you know, on a six, five, six, six frame, he's still caring about two and a quarter.
- 1:04:43[SPEAKER_00]: And the guy moves, like, you know, with fluidity and comes flying up outside, I mean, he's really impressive athletically.
- 1:04:53[SPEAKER_00]: He's making a transition from safety to linebacker.
- 1:04:56[SPEAKER_00]: But I'm telling you, James Thompson, the third Larry, or James Thompson Jr., Larry Worth,
- 1:05:01[SPEAKER_00]: the third on defense, K-lon black on offense.
- 1:05:04[SPEAKER_00]: Those are the guys that I'm looking for.
- 1:05:06[SPEAKER_00]: All right, give me one bold prediction before we hit the supers and get out of here.
- 1:05:11[SPEAKER_00]: Give me a bold prediction for camp this summer.
- 1:05:13[SPEAKER_00]: Just anything that you think's going to happen that you think is now you would categorize as bold.
- 1:05:19[SPEAKER_01]: Connor Colby's going to walk away with starting left guard job.
- 1:05:23[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, I like that kid.
- 1:05:25[SPEAKER_01]: I think he learned a lot last year.
- 1:05:27[SPEAKER_01]: Hey, didn't start off well as past Pro was a major issue, but being in the room for a year, I think you went to that starting left guard job.
- 1:05:34[SPEAKER_00]: Hmm, I like that.
- 1:05:35[SPEAKER_00]: I like that.
- 1:05:36[SPEAKER_00]: That would be good, that would be good.
- 1:05:38[SPEAKER_00]: I'm gonna go with wheel-palling becomes the return man.
- 1:05:45[SPEAKER_01]: I love that.
- 1:05:46[SPEAKER_01]: Do I put a piece out where I talked about that?
- 1:05:48[SPEAKER_01]: Well, our countdown where I was like, if I could have anybody win the kickoff return, return to Chuck, we'll palp Paul in like, hit like his upside is huge.
- 1:05:58[SPEAKER_01]: So, babe, dude, I'm with you, Larry.
- 1:06:00[SPEAKER_01]: I love that.
- 1:06:01[SPEAKER_01]: I love that.
- 1:06:02[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 1:06:02[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, this guy is a conscientious hard worker.
- 1:06:07[SPEAKER_00]: He also is got 42.5 inch vert, 437 speed, scored six touchdowns last year.
- 1:06:16[SPEAKER_00]: And when I was watching these guys and they're fielding punts off the jugs gun, he caught the ball with such confidence.
- 1:06:23[SPEAKER_00]: He caught the ball so cleanly.
- 1:06:25[SPEAKER_00]: He's obviously done reps.
- 1:06:28[SPEAKER_00]: He is.
- 1:06:30[SPEAKER_00]: of speed player, but I think he also has got pretty good hands in a team where they're going to emphasize special teams.
- 1:06:38[SPEAKER_00]: This guy played on Notre Dame special teams.
- 1:06:40[SPEAKER_00]: Notre Dame special teams coach, one of the best special teams coaches in all of college football or pro football for that matter.
- 1:06:46[SPEAKER_00]: He's a really, really good special teams coach.
- 1:06:49[SPEAKER_00]: Marty, something Marty, it's an Italian name.
- 1:06:52[SPEAKER_00]: B.A.G.
- 1:06:52[SPEAKER_00]: or something like that.
- 1:06:53[SPEAKER_00]: He's a tremendous special team.
- 1:06:55[SPEAKER_00]: Because Notre Dame special teams kind of be the best in the country almost every year.
- 1:06:59[SPEAKER_00]: And this guy looks like he's he looks dependable.
- 1:07:05[SPEAKER_00]: He caught the ball cleanly man explosive.
- 1:07:09[SPEAKER_00]: talented slot receiver six touchdowns.
- 1:07:12[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I like it.
- 1:07:13[SPEAKER_00]: I like him.
- 1:07:14[SPEAKER_00]: Will Pauling is going to be make the team as a special teamer.
- 1:07:18[SPEAKER_00]: That's my call.
- 1:07:19[SPEAKER_00]: All right, let's go to our supers.
- 1:07:21[SPEAKER_00]: We got a couple supers and then we'll vote for the door here.
- 1:07:23[SPEAKER_00]: We got this one big, big, pre-mo return return to playrate.
- 1:07:30[SPEAKER_00]: Regarding your last show, D-Line has some of the biggest performance drops after ACL recovery, D-Line drops 76.2% national library medium.
- 1:07:45[SPEAKER_01]: Interesting.
- 1:07:46[SPEAKER_00]: I like my last show or your last show.
- 1:07:48[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I don't think that was mine, but I love the it bit there for me to gremo.
- 1:07:52[SPEAKER_01]: I love it.
- 1:07:52[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm to play rate.
- 1:07:54[SPEAKER_00]: So what's your saying regarding your last show?
- 1:07:56[SPEAKER_00]: Do you line up?
- 1:07:56[SPEAKER_01]: So overcoming their entry is how they return to their, you know, pre injured state, the return to play rate.
- 1:08:03[SPEAKER_01]: I know there's a couple accounts that track this pretty heavily and.
- 1:08:07[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so he's a like defensive line struggle with that more than anything else returning to where they were before the injury, so he stayed 76% drop there.
- 1:08:17[SPEAKER_00]: That's a big drop big drop.
- 1:08:19[SPEAKER_00]: Got to have me kill healthy.
- 1:08:20[SPEAKER_00]: That's for sure.
- 1:08:21[SPEAKER_00]: He was a key guy when he went down their run defense fell apart.
- 1:08:25[SPEAKER_00]: Justin says letting John Lynch use the next two first rounders in the draft is more of a risk than trading them from max cross me.
- 1:08:31[SPEAKER_00]: He's the second best edge in football.
- 1:08:34[SPEAKER_00]: You know what, when you look at the track record of the Niners and their first round picks, I can see why you would make that comment.
- 1:08:41[SPEAKER_00]: Stefan Niners says it's Kyle Pitts a scheme fit, yes he is, also what's the price.
- 1:08:46[SPEAKER_00]: There are some people that believe that he was going to be tagged and traded.
- 1:08:49[SPEAKER_00]: He was tagged by the Falcons.
- 1:08:51[SPEAKER_00]: But there's a lot of talk that he could be traded.
- 1:08:53[SPEAKER_00]: I'll say this if the 49ers want to make a big impact.
- 1:08:56[SPEAKER_00]: You know, that might be the way to do it.
- 1:08:58[SPEAKER_00]: Kyle Pitch is an awesome tight end.
- 1:09:00[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, you know, he might be, he could wind up being your best offensive weapon.
- 1:09:07[SPEAKER_00]: and trading form in June or July or August, we now would really be something.
- 1:09:13[SPEAKER_00]: I'm a huge Kyle Pitz fan now, he has a very first.
- 1:09:16[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, multiple seconds, he's got to cost a lot.
- 1:09:19[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, because also nobody looks like him.
- 1:09:21[SPEAKER_00]: Right, he's six, six, he's two, 50s coming off this career year, he's almost, I would say he's probably gonna be the most productive tight end in the NFL, you know, at least among them for the next two or three years.
- 1:09:32[SPEAKER_00]: So I mean, if you get him, that would be a great get
- 1:09:38[SPEAKER_00]: be curses prayers for your family on the loss RIP Penny.
- 1:09:42[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, we lost Penny our golden retriever and we love her to death and sadly we had to use the nicer early today earlier today.
- 1:09:49[SPEAKER_00]: She had cancer that spread to her lungs.
- 1:09:53[SPEAKER_00]: Thank you to all the well-wishers, John.
- 1:09:55[SPEAKER_00]: Thank you for your kind words before the show.
- 1:09:57[SPEAKER_00]: I just want to say Larry too, man.
- 1:09:59[SPEAKER_01]: The fact that you're here sharing your time with us,
- 1:10:03[SPEAKER_01]: If man in the people do, we are so grateful and lucky to have you a man in the community is not the same without Larry.
- 1:10:10[SPEAKER_01]: And so just want to say, thank you, dude, big ups to you.
- 1:10:12[SPEAKER_00]: Thanks, man.
- 1:10:13[SPEAKER_00]: Well, you know, this one's going to be tough.
- 1:10:16[SPEAKER_00]: This one's going to be tough because everywhere I go in my house reminds me of that dog.
- 1:10:21[SPEAKER_00]: And I love that dog more than I love lots of people that I know.
- 1:10:27[SPEAKER_00]: And I never, this is my first dog.
- 1:10:29[SPEAKER_00]: That's the other thing, you know, I didn't have a dog as a kid.
- 1:10:32[SPEAKER_00]: And so this is the first dog I ever had.
- 1:10:34[SPEAKER_00]: And I never thought eight years ago when we got the dog that I would grow to love her as much as I have.
- 1:10:42[SPEAKER_00]: But,
- 1:10:44[SPEAKER_00]: You know, and then they love so selflessly, you know what I mean?
- 1:10:47[SPEAKER_01]: They love so, so totally and so selflessly.
- 1:10:50[SPEAKER_00]: It's not close.
- 1:10:51[SPEAKER_00]: And it's, it really tears you up when you, when I think about it.
- 1:10:53[SPEAKER_00]: And it was just very tough to see your go down today.
- 1:10:57[SPEAKER_00]: It was tough to, the lady who did the youth in the youth in Asia on her was so great.
- 1:11:04[SPEAKER_00]: John, I'm so great, so sensitive.
- 1:11:06[SPEAKER_00]: So it's tough job.
- 1:11:08[SPEAKER_00]: I would, you know, that's your job.
- 1:11:10[SPEAKER_00]: And, um,
- 1:11:11[SPEAKER_00]: But she did it so well.
- 1:11:13[SPEAKER_00]: She was so kind to us, so understanding of this was our family member.
- 1:11:18[SPEAKER_00]: And you know, I'm in tears and my boys are in tears and we're just sitting there and we're like, you know, we didn't even know that Penny was sick until about 10 days ago.
- 1:11:26[SPEAKER_00]: And to lose her and to not have her in her life, it's going to be really, really tough.
- 1:11:31[SPEAKER_00]: But thank you to all the well-wishers and
- 1:11:34[SPEAKER_00]: And we'll get through it, you know, and as far as me doing this, it's like, you know, this is a labor of love, this is what we do.
- 1:11:41[SPEAKER_00]: And it's tough to become a crying mess like I was on one of the streams earlier this week, because it was so fresh and so new and on my emotions are so raw.
- 1:11:55[SPEAKER_00]: And as you guys know, you know, I am an emotional person by nature.
- 1:12:01[SPEAKER_00]: I'm a part of
- 1:12:03[SPEAKER_00]: I'm just having emotional side to me.
- 1:12:04[SPEAKER_00]: I would love to be that rock, you know, that's always stoic and nothing bothers him and I'll always, you know, be that rock for my boys and my wife.
- 1:12:16[SPEAKER_00]: And I just like, it's, I gotta be who I am and I'm, I'm an emotional person and I love
- 1:12:21[SPEAKER_00]: my friends, I'm loyal to my friends, I'm loyal to my family, and she was my family.
- 1:12:27[SPEAKER_00]: And I love I love her to death and I'm going to miss her.
- 1:12:30[SPEAKER_00]: So, so much.
- 1:12:31[SPEAKER_00]: So, thank you.
- 1:12:32[SPEAKER_00]: Be cursed for those kind words.
- 1:12:34[SPEAKER_00]: Thanks to everybody who offered such kind words.
- 1:12:37[SPEAKER_00]: Tommy Huxley says great hat John Lerick and Dolan says for the fur baby.
- 1:12:42[SPEAKER_00]: Thank you.
- 1:12:42[SPEAKER_00]: Thank you.
- 1:12:43[SPEAKER_00]: Tommy, I love that hat man.
- 1:12:44[SPEAKER_00]: Faithful.
- 1:12:45[SPEAKER_00]: That's a sweet lid.
- 1:12:47[SPEAKER_01]: My wife calls this the good husband hat, but I'm like, I'm not wearing it for you.
- 1:12:51[SPEAKER_01]: It just says faithful lot.
- 1:12:52[SPEAKER_01]: It's such he's like, oh, that's a good husband.
- 1:12:53[SPEAKER_01]: I'm like, no, it's not the writers fans.
- 1:12:56[SPEAKER_01]: That's what this is.
- 1:12:58[SPEAKER_00]: What you do is you say, hey, you want to let's watch a movie together.
- 1:13:01[SPEAKER_00]: How about unfaithful with that day and late, let's go online sheets with the French guy.
- 1:13:08[SPEAKER_00]: Richard Geer takes the snow globe and cracks him over the head and kills him.
- 1:13:13[SPEAKER_01]: The funny thing is on our honeymoon, we watch the breakup, the Vince Vaughn and Jennifer A.
- 1:13:18[SPEAKER_01]: This is a movie.
- 1:13:19[SPEAKER_01]: It's like David's like like literally in our honeymoon movie and that's what this movie, what do you want to watch
- 1:13:26[SPEAKER_00]: and they just and it was bitter to his angry they were angry yeah that's that's probably well then you can just be like hey look when things are bad hey we're not them we're not that's right man that's right anyway thank you Tommy we have this one from Jay Gattis he says crew good Chapman I'm here for it thank you bro we're always loving the audience being here that's going to do it for us we're an hour and 13 minutes in we've already gone a little too long but I do want to say thanks to all of you guys
- 1:13:54[SPEAKER_00]: You know, the one thing about you and I, we have these, we have really good streams, you know, we don't, you know, you're kind of like me, we don't, we're not trying to blow a story into like, I'd rather have, you know, X number people in the room and talk about a story credibly, then try to blow it into something that it isn't.
