- 0:00Speaker 1: This is Kiss Breakfast. Celebrity news. I was too keen.
- 0:05Speaker 1: Someone has finally been found guilty in the murder of
- 0:08Speaker 1: Tupac almost 30 years to the day after it happened.
- 0:11Speaker 1: So for those who don't remember or don't know, Tupac
- 0:15Speaker 1: was stopped at a red light in Vegas on September 7, 1996.
- 0:19Speaker 1: when a white Cadillac pulled up beside him and shots
- 0:22Speaker 1: were fired. Now, this all went down after a Mike
- 0:24Speaker 1: Tyson fight at the MGM Grand where it's alleged that
- 0:28Speaker 1: he was targeted because it was an act of retaliation
- 0:31Speaker 1: because he and his associates assaulted a rival gang member
- 0:36Speaker 1: at the fight. Right. Okay, so it was gang war stuff.
- 0:39Speaker 1: So gang war stuff. Now, this guy, Dwayne Keefy D. Davis,
- 0:43Speaker 1: 63 years old, was charged, and this is actually audio
- 0:47Speaker 1: from the courtroom. Take a listen.
- 0:49Speaker 2: Verdict reads as follows. We, the jury in the above
- 0:52Speaker 2: entitled case, find the defendant, Dwayne Keefy Davis, as follows.
- 0:55Speaker 2: Count one, murder with use of a deadly weapon. Guilty
- 0:58Speaker 2: of first degree murder with use of a deadly weapon.
- 1:00Speaker 2: Date of this, 31st date of August, 2026. Ladies and
- 1:04Speaker 2: gentlemen of the jury, is this your verdict as read?
- 1:06Speaker 2: So say you won, so say you will. Yes.
- 1:09Speaker 1: Well, there we go. How many years later? Almost 30. Yeah,
- 1:12Speaker 1: so they finally got the guy. Now, Sean, I know you,
- 1:14Speaker 1: you're big on this.
- 1:15Speaker 2: You've been following it?
- 1:16Speaker 3: Yeah, so he was in the Cadillac. He always said
- 1:19Speaker 3: that he was in that car that night, but he
- 1:20Speaker 3: never said that he pulled the trigger. So he has
- 1:23Speaker 3: been convicted of murder, but the police are saying that
- 1:26Speaker 3: he was the guy that gave the gun to someone
- 1:28Speaker 3: in the back seat of the car who actually fired
- 1:31Speaker 3: the weapon. So, yeah, I mean, 30 years later, it's
- 1:34Speaker 3: incredible that finally there's been some conviction. But in terms
- 1:38Speaker 3: of the person who actually pulled the trigger, they could
- 1:41Speaker 3: potentially be dead already.
- 1:43Speaker 1: Yeah, well, they think that Dwayne was the mastermind behind
- 1:45Speaker 1: the killings. And the best part is he dubbed himself
- 1:48Speaker 1: in because the smoking gun in the investigation was his
- 1:50Speaker 1: own memoir where he wrote in it saying, I'm one
- 1:52Speaker 1: of the only living eyewitnesses to Tupac's killing. He also
- 1:56Speaker 1: described himself as the shot caller and on-ground commander. Why
- 1:59Speaker 1: would he do that? Because he was bragging about it,
- 2:01Speaker 1: he thought he was invincible. It had been almost 30 years.
- 2:04Speaker 1: He thought he got away with it. And then the
- 2:06Speaker 1: police got a search warrant for his house back in
- 2:09Speaker 1: July of 2023. They seized things like he had like
- 2:12Speaker 1: a Vibe magazine on Tupac, tubs of photographs where investigators
- 2:16Speaker 1: believe they found people connected to the murder in these photos.
- 2:19Speaker 1: So he was almost like keeping souvenirs around his house
- 2:21Speaker 1: as well. But, yeah, it'll be October this year when
- 2:25Speaker 1: he learns how long he'll be sentenced to prison for.
- 2:27Speaker 1: But my guess is the rest of his life, given
- 2:29Speaker 1: he's 63 years old.
- 2:30Speaker 2: Yeah. What was your favourite Tupac song, though? Hit Em Up. Oh, Changes.
- 2:37Speaker 1: Also good. Hit Em Up.
- 2:42Speaker 3: They reckon Hit Em Up was the song that aggravated
- 2:45Speaker 3: the other side.
- 2:47Speaker 2: Yes.
- 2:47Speaker 3: And they weren't so happy with him after that.
- 2:48Speaker 1: Because it was East versus West Coast, right?
- 2:50Speaker 2: Yeah. Which one was he? He was West Coast.
- 2:53Speaker 3: Yep. California. And Biggie was the East, yeah, over New York.
- 2:58Speaker 2: We don't have Hit Em Up to see, you know.
- 2:59Speaker 1: Yeah, because there's a lot of swears in it, I
- 3:01Speaker 1: guess that's why. What other Tupac's do we have?
- 3:03Speaker 2: Oh, yeah, let's have a look.
- 3:04Speaker 1: California Love.
- 3:05Speaker 2: Yeah, we'll have.
- 3:06Speaker 1: That, surely.
- 3:07Speaker 3: But yeah, it's an interesting story, isn't it? I mean,
- 3:11Speaker 3: this guy, he said that he was in the Cadillac
- 3:13Speaker 3: and the cops couldn't use that evidence against him. And
- 3:16Speaker 3: then he went out and wrote this book. He's an idiot.
- 3:19Speaker 3: And that breached what he had, the deal he had
- 3:21Speaker 3: in place with the coppers at the time. Yeah. Brought
- 3:24Speaker 3: him undone.
