Transcript
- 0:01Speaker 1: You're listening to Hawk Talk with former Seahawks wide receiver
- 0:04Speaker 1: Michael Bumpus.
- 0:05Speaker 2: Playfake going to roll right, dumps it off into the
- 0:07Speaker 2: right flask to Michael Bumpers, who bounces off of one tackler,
- 0:10Speaker 2: gets inside the forty down of the thirty five yard line.
- 0:13Speaker 1: Powered by Seahawks dot Com.
- 0:15Speaker 2: Matt pumpfake's looking at the god line. He throws it
- 0:17Speaker 2: into the m zone.
- 0:19Speaker 3: Touchdown, Say Hawks, it's Michael Thumps.
- 0:21Speaker 2: With a diving catching the end zone. A ten yard
- 0:24Speaker 2: touchdown reception for Bumpus, and the kid out of Washington
- 0:28Speaker 2: State has found himself a place.
- 0:30Speaker 4: On this team.
- 0:31Speaker 1: Now here's your host, Nasa Jovie.
- 0:35Speaker 5: The Seahawks beat the Lions thirty seven to thirty one
- 0:38Speaker 5: at Ford Field in Detroit, getting back in the victory column.
- 0:41Speaker 5: Great to see it. Seahawks back at it one in one.
- 0:44Speaker 5: A much better feeling than we had this time last
- 0:47Speaker 5: week after the Rams loss. But definitely don't want to
- 0:49Speaker 5: waste any time. We'll get right into it with what
- 0:52Speaker 5: had happened.
- 0:53Speaker 2: See what happened at first? Left what had happened was
- 0:58Speaker 2: on Hawk.
- 0:59Speaker 6: Talk bump Man.
- 1:02Speaker 5: Not quite the shootout it was last year, but definitely
- 1:05Speaker 5: a lot more entertaining for Seahawks fans in the week before.
- 1:07Speaker 6: Still very entertaining game with Detroit.
- 1:10Speaker 5: Definitely a lot of emotions as me and the rest
- 1:13Speaker 5: of the pre post crew watched that game on Sunday,
- 1:16Speaker 5: before we get into the highlights and everything that happen.
- 1:18Speaker 5: What's your main kind of takeaway from everything all the
- 1:21Speaker 5: emotions we went through on Sunday.
- 1:24Speaker 7: Man, my main takeaway is put some respect on Gino's name.
- 1:27Speaker 7: Let's do that, please, because I understand he didn't come
- 1:30Speaker 7: out and perform the way that we wanted him to
- 1:32Speaker 7: that first week. But in the second week he won
- 1:35Speaker 7: the game. He had a game win and drive us.
- 1:36Speaker 7: One thing that people always want to see from Gino
- 1:38Speaker 7: can he win the game late, And he did exactly that.
- 1:41Speaker 7: And also big ups to Jake Curry and the Stone
- 1:44Speaker 7: Foresight for stepping in and really just blending right in.
- 1:47Speaker 4: We didn't see too much of them.
- 1:48Speaker 7: That's always a good thing when we talk about these
- 1:51Speaker 7: office of Lineman. But a good win hostile environment got
- 1:54Speaker 7: are done. Much needed.
- 1:56Speaker 6: Oh goodness, yeah, it was.
- 1:57Speaker 5: People were hyped up, man, Barry Sanders statue, there's this
- 2:01Speaker 5: real pride and height for the Lions right now, and
- 2:03Speaker 5: it's real because they're a good football team. They're a
- 2:05Speaker 5: good football team, and like we said, wasn't a shootout
- 2:08Speaker 5: was the year before, but it was still very entertaining
- 2:10Speaker 5: game and the tail of two weeks, right, but you're
- 2:13Speaker 5: set out the entire second half against the Rams, the
- 2:17Speaker 5: Seahawks offense decided to flip the script.
- 2:19Speaker 6: Definitely not the same way.
- 2:20Speaker 5: They marched right down the field on offense, twelve plays
- 2:24Speaker 5: seventy five yards ending with a Ken Walker touchdown taking
- 2:27Speaker 5: the lead, making you feel good about that offense. However,
- 2:30Speaker 5: the Lions did respond immediately with the driver of their own,
- 2:32Speaker 5: going seven plays seventy five yards of their own, ending
- 2:35Speaker 5: with a twenty two yard touchdown to Josh Reynolds. They
- 2:38Speaker 5: would not face a third down that entire drive, which
- 2:41Speaker 5: made the score seven to seven. So good start offensively, obviously,
- 2:44Speaker 5: marching right down the field. Defense kind of tied to
- 2:47Speaker 5: take a little bit to get things going, to figure
- 2:49Speaker 5: things out.
- 2:50Speaker 4: Yeah, he knew the Lions were gonna respond.
- 2:52Speaker 7: It's a good offensive team, so we knew early that
- 2:55Speaker 7: it was going to be a tight one. And after
- 2:56Speaker 7: a Seahawk punt, the seayoffs, defense will step up and
- 2:59Speaker 7: get a big stop or fourth down thanks to Devin
- 3:01Speaker 7: Witherspoon a nice textbook pass breakup was beautiful with the
- 3:04Speaker 7: left hand across the body, right one around the hip.
- 3:07Speaker 4: Secure the tackle just in case.
- 3:09Speaker 7: Then on the next drive, the Shicks will stall out
- 3:12Speaker 7: in the red zone and Jason Myers missed a field goal,
- 3:14Speaker 7: something that we do not want to get used to seeing.
- 3:16Speaker 7: We've seen it several times already. Hey, get the yips
- 3:20Speaker 7: out the way. I know what it's like standing on
- 3:21Speaker 7: the t box and I'm paying it. That driver's not working.
- 3:24Speaker 7: We need to fix that driver. The Lions will get
- 3:26Speaker 7: the football and take advantage of a good field position,
- 3:30Speaker 7: and then they take the lead fourteen to seven. With
- 3:32Speaker 7: a little flea flicker to Jared Goff caught the youngsters
- 3:36Speaker 7: slipping a little bit. Devin Witherspoon rides in the backfield.
- 3:39Speaker 7: I guarantee you he will not get beat on that
- 3:41Speaker 7: play again.
- 3:42Speaker 6: No, not at all.
- 3:42Speaker 5: I mean I think that's one of those where you go, man,
- 3:45Speaker 5: as I've said it on the show before, that's your obleep,
- 3:48Speaker 5: read right there and take two steps drive in the backfield.
- 3:51Speaker 5: Also got the Quandary Diggs as well, but you give
- 3:53Speaker 5: it up to him. When your defensive coordinator and you
- 3:56Speaker 5: guys come out the field after giving up a trick play,
- 3:58Speaker 5: you say, hey, man, if they need to go into
- 4:00Speaker 5: their bag, get the trick plays.
- 4:01Speaker 6: We should feel good about where we are right now.
- 4:04Speaker 5: So after that play, Jason Myers would miss another field
- 4:07Speaker 5: goal and the Seahawks went into a half trail fourteen
- 4:10Speaker 5: to seven. This time, though the second half was not
- 4:13Speaker 5: gonna be like the Rams game, definitely more kind of.
- 4:15Speaker 5: The Seahawks first played from scrimmage. Chennon Nuosu, who was
- 4:18Speaker 5: a menace all day long, would force a fumble on
- 4:20Speaker 5: David Montgomery that was recovered by jay Reid Boom. Two
- 4:23Speaker 5: plays later, the Seahawks find the end zone with another
- 4:26Speaker 5: kin Walker touchdown that tied to score at fourteen. The
- 4:29Speaker 5: Lions would, however, answer right back. They kind of did
- 4:31Speaker 5: that all day long, going nine plays seventy five yards,
- 4:34Speaker 5: and Dave Montgomery kind of made out for his fumble
- 4:36Speaker 5: he gets in the end zone, making it twenty one
- 4:38Speaker 5: to fourteen. The Seahawks would answer with a field goal
- 4:42Speaker 5: and then get another huge fourth down stop on defense,
- 4:45Speaker 5: and that was gonna be a huge key coming into
- 4:47Speaker 5: the game because the Lions definitely were the most aggressive
- 4:49Speaker 5: team on fourth down in the entire NFL last season.
- 4:52Speaker 5: But good to see the Seahawks coming up big on
- 4:54Speaker 5: defense twice on those fourth downs.
- 4:57Speaker 4: Yeah, that was nice to see the Seahawks. One of
- 5:00Speaker 4: those guys on fourth down.
- 5:00Speaker 7: You knew they were going to be aggressive, they knew
- 5:02Speaker 7: they were coming after him, but they got it done.
- 5:04Speaker 7: The Seahawks would take advantage to go nine plays forty
- 5:07Speaker 7: five yards and with a touchdown to Tyler Lockett in
- 5:10Speaker 7: the back of the end zone. And he was PI
- 5:12Speaker 7: too that DV got there early, was grabbing on his
- 5:14Speaker 7: left forearm, which you know what Tyler Lockett does, he
- 5:16Speaker 7: makes a play. A couple of plays later after that,
- 5:19Speaker 7: Trey Brown would pick up Jared goff Man. It ended
- 5:21Speaker 7: his streak of three hundred and eighty four attempts without
- 5:26Speaker 7: an intercession. Trey Brown says, give me that, and he
- 5:29Speaker 7: takes it to the house forty yards, making it thirty
- 5:31Speaker 7: one to twenty one with eight minutes left in the
- 5:34Speaker 7: fourth quarter.
- 5:35Speaker 4: Mah sighted like cool, they got it. And then what happens.
- 5:40Speaker 5: Next, Oh my goodness, yead we're banging on the walls,
- 5:43Speaker 5: we're hitting the desk. Everyone's juice up. Trey Brown. Really
- 5:45Speaker 5: good to see from Trey Brown. We're getting into the
- 5:46Speaker 5: playmakers later, but good to see him. Obviously he didn't
- 5:49Speaker 5: start the game Rereek one and got hurt. But he
- 5:50Speaker 5: gets in there, makes a huge play. But just when
- 5:53Speaker 5: you thought the Seahawks were controlled, just when you started
- 5:56Speaker 5: to get comfortable, maybe on the couch, We'll get you
- 5:58Speaker 5: another beverage. We'll get you some more wings. That's when
- 6:01Speaker 5: the Lines would answer right back. Ten plays, seventy five
- 6:04Speaker 5: yard drive ending with the Josh Rentles touchdown. On that drive,
- 6:07Speaker 5: the Lines converted two huge third downs. Also were helped
- 6:10Speaker 5: by the roughing the passer penalty to start the drive.
- 6:13Speaker 5: And man, people need to relax on Darryl Taylor. Man, okay,
- 6:17Speaker 5: gleez I looking around looking on Twitter X whatever you
- 6:20Speaker 5: want to call it. Now, we've heard way too much stuff.
- 6:22Speaker 5: If you're in his position, you're getting after the quarterback.
- 6:25Speaker 5: You beat your guy clean one on one and he's
- 6:28Speaker 5: faking like he still has the ball. That is what
- 6:30Speaker 5: the quarterbacks are taught to do. And he's taught to
- 6:32Speaker 5: tackle who has the football. Did you know. Obviously was
- 6:37Speaker 5: it well after he handled the ball off of course,
- 6:39Speaker 5: But my perspective then, don't fake it. If you don't
- 6:41Speaker 5: want people to think you have the ball, don't pretend
- 6:43Speaker 5: like you have the ball.
- 6:43Speaker 4: Right exactly.
- 6:45Speaker 7: We see it in jet sweets all the time, where
- 6:47Speaker 7: receivers and running backs back like they.
- 6:48Speaker 4: Have the football. They get hit.
- 6:50Speaker 7: Play action to your running back, he acts like he
- 6:52Speaker 7: has the ball, he gets hit. You know what you say, Congratulations,
- 6:55Speaker 7: Derek Goff, You did a good job of selling you
- 6:56Speaker 7: had the football for that.
- 6:57Speaker 4: You get hit the back, don't get a up like
- 7:00Speaker 4: you're all upset.
- 7:01Speaker 7: I would have tackled you to his posture, said hey,
- 7:04Speaker 7: I'm about to the football.
- 7:06Speaker 5: Yeah, man, it is what it is. Man, I just
- 7:09Speaker 5: I just want he's off DT for a little bit.
- 7:11Speaker 5: He's just making a good, you know, a good hustle play.
- 7:13Speaker 5: Unfortunately turning in a roughing passer play that aided that drive.
- 7:16Speaker 5: So that made to score thirty one to twenty eight
- 7:18Speaker 5: lines and man, that next drive for the Hawks was rough.
- 7:22Speaker 6: Seahawks face.
- 7:24Speaker 5: Face a third and eight with two seventeen left in
- 7:26Speaker 5: the game. Gino Smith finds Kobe Parkinson for sixteen yard game. Okay,
- 7:30Speaker 5: we're in business. We're moving. We've seen a couple more
- 7:32Speaker 5: first downs are gonna ic the game. However, Kobe was
- 7:35Speaker 5: called for an offensive pass interference, which my goodness, bump, nonsense, nonsense,
- 7:41Speaker 5: I mean, I don't.
- 7:42Speaker 4: Need five yards.
- 7:43Speaker 7: Within five yards it gets it gets nasty within five yards,
- 7:46Speaker 7: it gets it gets physical within five yards.
- 7:48Speaker 4: And that's exactly what happened. It just looked too violent.
- 7:50Speaker 6: That's all that play had to have happened.
- 7:53Speaker 5: I don't know six hundred times on Sunday, and anyway,
- 7:59Speaker 5: I gown away by that. But that just made things
- 8:01Speaker 5: worse for the Seahawks. That made it third and eighteen.
- 8:04Speaker 5: Then Geno Smith was sacked on a seventeen yard loss
- 8:07Speaker 5: trying to take care of the ball.
- 8:08Speaker 6: You were hoping he can get rid of it at
- 8:10Speaker 6: that point.
- 8:10Speaker 5: But when you listen to him in his postgame press
- 8:12Speaker 5: conference stuff like that, he's trying not to make the
- 8:14Speaker 5: big bad play if you will, right, you know, there
- 8:18Speaker 5: was when you look at the end zone, there's not
- 8:19Speaker 5: a lot of room for him to go anywhere, So
- 8:21Speaker 5: he's just hoping he doesn't make the big mistake. Unfortunately,
- 8:23Speaker 5: it's a huge loss for the Seahawks. The Seahawks would
- 8:26Speaker 5: punt it away to the Lions, and the Lions would
- 8:28Speaker 5: kick a field goal to tie the game up and
- 8:30Speaker 5: force overtime.
- 8:32Speaker 7: Yeah, after I looked at the end zone version of
- 8:36Speaker 7: that play, I said, Okay, Gene, I understand mane of
- 8:39Speaker 7: the Lions were. I had a chance to win it,
- 8:41Speaker 7: but they kick a field goal. Bulling sentence overtime, Drew
- 8:43Speaker 7: low gets the game ball from me. You always go
- 8:46Speaker 7: with tails one to get into overtime. Tails never fails.
- 8:50Speaker 7: The offense will get the ball and it was a
- 8:52Speaker 7: rap from there. They marched down the field. On the
- 8:54Speaker 7: first possession of overtime, you got a big play from
- 8:56Speaker 7: North Famp got DK gets involved Kobe Parkinson and then
- 9:01Speaker 7: Tyler Lockett, nice little out route and it was beautiful
- 9:04Speaker 7: too me. And it was like outroud and he had
- 9:05Speaker 7: a seamanside and the corner couldn't really decide who he
- 9:09Speaker 7: was gonna jump on.
- 9:09Speaker 4: Right, you go to Tyler Lockett.
- 9:11Speaker 7: He gets a field dive over the pieline, walk off win.
- 9:16Speaker 5: That's what I'm talking about. Man, it feels good. It's
- 9:19Speaker 5: just funny, especially you know, selfishly for what we do,
- 9:22Speaker 5: especially you. A win makes the three hours after the
- 9:26Speaker 5: game a lot faster than a loss, for sure, But honestly,
- 9:30Speaker 5: really good to see the Seahawks and just everything that
- 9:32Speaker 5: they were able to get accomplished on Sunday. Huge win
- 9:35Speaker 5: against a really good football team in the Detroit Lions.
- 9:38Speaker 5: Speaking of that, let's flip it over and see who
- 9:40Speaker 5: made plays. Playmakers to playmakers, to him, what time it is, holy.
- 9:54Speaker 6: Playmakers. We're gonna start where we do normally at the
- 9:57Speaker 6: quarterback position. Geno Smith. Bump.
- 10:00Speaker 5: You heard what we said, Gino, all the faith back
- 10:02Speaker 5: in Geno thirty two of forty one, seventy eight percent passer,
- 10:05Speaker 5: three hundred and twenty four twenty eight yards, two touchdowns.
- 10:08Speaker 5: He also had three carries for twenty yards. One of
- 10:11Speaker 5: those was a big scramble after the Seahawks had that
- 10:14Speaker 5: whatever you want to call intentional grounding penalty that happened
- 10:17Speaker 5: against them. Great scrambled by Geno Smith to kind of
- 10:19Speaker 5: get him out of trouble and extend a touchdown drive
- 10:21Speaker 5: going that way. Gino Smith passed Warren Moon for seventh
- 10:24Speaker 5: place on Seattle's all time passing yards list with five
- 10:27Speaker 5: thy four hundred and fifty seven and man, it felt
- 10:31Speaker 5: good to see Geno be who he was. I think
- 10:32Speaker 5: everyone kind of knew that. It was kind of a
- 10:35Speaker 5: fluky performance against the Rams. Obviously, when you don't have
- 10:38Speaker 5: a lot of opportunities in the second alfric or in
- 10:40Speaker 5: fourteen plates, it's kind of hard to do anything. But
- 10:42Speaker 5: really good to see Gino, the Gino Smith that we know,
- 10:45Speaker 5: the Gino Smith that we saw over the course of
- 10:47Speaker 5: an entire season last year, kind of do his thing.
- 10:49Speaker 5: And he was almost perfect bump, I mean, other than
- 10:52Speaker 5: the sack he did, I don't think he did anything
- 10:54Speaker 5: wrong on his great book. If you're scoring, he probably
- 10:57Speaker 5: graded out of like ninety eight percent easily.
- 11:00Speaker 7: Man, he was in control the whole situation, made good decisions.
- 11:03Speaker 7: The one decision that was suspect to me ended up
- 11:06Speaker 7: being the right one. And I was that long sack
- 11:08Speaker 7: at the end of the game. I believe they lost
- 11:09Speaker 7: seventeen yards. But no complete confidence in Geno. I never
- 11:13Speaker 7: lost him. A lot of people did off of that
- 11:15Speaker 7: first week, so it's nice to see him bounce back.
- 11:17Speaker 4: Another playmaker.
- 11:18Speaker 7: I'm gonna read the first stat and you're gonna be like,
- 11:21Speaker 7: how was he a playmaker?
- 11:22Speaker 4: Right?
- 11:22Speaker 7: Seventeen carriers for forty three yards. Were talking about ken Walker,
- 11:25Speaker 7: but he scored two touchdowns and had some of the
- 11:28Speaker 7: most exciting two to three yard games I've seen in
- 11:31Speaker 7: a very long time.
- 11:33Speaker 4: On a weekend where they unveil a.
- 11:35Speaker 7: Barry Sanders statue, he was doing some Barry Sanders type
- 11:38Speaker 7: of moves back there.
- 11:39Speaker 4: So ken Walker was good.
- 11:40Speaker 7: And then Tyler Lockett eight receptions for fifty nine yards,
- 11:43Speaker 7: two touchdowns and.
- 11:44Speaker 4: The gang winner in overtime.
- 11:47Speaker 7: I was talking to Stacey, my co host today, about
- 11:51Speaker 7: Lockett and if he was six ' three he'd be
- 11:53Speaker 7: a bona fide superstar. But he's a smaller guy, a
- 11:55Speaker 7: humble personality, not flashy, so he.
- 11:58Speaker 4: Don't get the love that he deserves.
- 12:00Speaker 7: So when we see this nationally, people might be saying, man,
- 12:03Speaker 7: Tyl Lockett, he's pretty good.
- 12:04Speaker 4: Over there in Seattle, we know this is what he does.
- 12:06Speaker 4: He's been doing it for years. Over here.
- 12:08Speaker 5: It's almost like a broken record because you can say
- 12:10Speaker 5: how many times we say the most underraded receiver in
- 12:13Speaker 5: the league, most underrated receiver in the league. But he
- 12:15Speaker 5: just does it, and he does it on a national level.
- 12:17Speaker 5: So you know, when you have the Fox number one
- 12:19Speaker 5: crew out there. You know, hopefully more people just are
- 12:22Speaker 5: put on notice about Tyler Locket because he does not
- 12:24Speaker 5: drop passes. He is clutch when you're targeting that man
- 12:28Speaker 5: in the red zone. I mean, for all those years
- 12:30Speaker 5: Russell had like a perfect passer rating targeting Russell or
- 12:33Speaker 5: targeting Tyler in the red zone. He's just sure handed.
- 12:36Speaker 5: I'd love to see him balling out. This team is
- 12:38Speaker 5: so much better when he's involved in the offense. So
- 12:40Speaker 5: good to see that mentioned DK. He had some big draw,
- 12:43Speaker 5: big catches on that final drive and just kind of
- 12:46Speaker 5: sprinkled throughout the game. So good to see him. Their
- 12:48Speaker 5: six receptions for seventy five. But the man of the
- 12:51Speaker 5: hour bump go to the secondary. They took a lot
- 12:54Speaker 5: of heat in the first game, even though it's a
- 12:56Speaker 5: collective defensive effort against the Rams.
- 12:58Speaker 6: But man Trey Brown.
- 13:00Speaker 5: Love to see what he did, you know, Tariquoling, excuse me,
- 13:03Speaker 5: Requoling hurt his shoulder. She comes out of the game
- 13:06Speaker 5: and Trey Brown goes right back in there. He started
- 13:08Speaker 5: the first game. Now he doesn't didn't miss a beat.
- 13:11Speaker 5: Comes in there, four tackles for solo, two passes defended,
- 13:14Speaker 5: one sack, one QB hit, and of course the big
- 13:17Speaker 5: forty yard pick six touchdown was completely changed the trajectory
- 13:21Speaker 5: of that game that put the Seahawks up ten gave
- 13:23Speaker 5: him some breathing room. Obviously, the lines come back, but
- 13:25Speaker 5: it was really good to see Trey Brown do what
- 13:28Speaker 5: he did there. Obviously you mentioned it earlier, streak of
- 13:31Speaker 5: three hundred and eighty four passes with it without an interception.
- 13:34Speaker 5: Trey Brown ends that, and whether the passes behind him
- 13:37Speaker 5: or not, you still got to make them play.
- 13:39Speaker 6: And those are hard.
- 13:39Speaker 5: Whether it's tipped or not, it's behind you, so you're
- 13:42Speaker 5: not expecting the ball to be there either. So he's
- 13:44Speaker 5: sure handed, boom puts a foot in the ground, gets
- 13:46Speaker 5: north South, gets in the end.
- 13:47Speaker 6: And so I was super happy to see Trey ball out.
- 13:49Speaker 5: And if anything, it just means there's just competition in
- 13:53Speaker 5: that secondary. The more people continue to make plays go
- 13:56Speaker 5: out there, everyone is hunting, clawing, fighting for playing time
- 13:59Speaker 5: and I love to see it.
- 14:01Speaker 7: Yeah, and he made plays when TREEQ Willen was out,
- 14:04Speaker 7: so he gets inserted into the game. You got Jamal
- 14:06Speaker 7: who's gonna get healthy here pretty soon. You just that secondary,
- 14:09Speaker 7: there's talent everywhere. Now, we've been waiting on this day
- 14:12Speaker 7: before a long time. Devin Witherspoon, he had five tackles too, solo,
- 14:16Speaker 7: one pass defendant, and made a couple of mistakes.
- 14:19Speaker 4: But you see the potential in this guy.
- 14:22Speaker 7: The fourth down pass breakup, Uh, the tackle that he
- 14:26Speaker 7: made early in the game, kind of setting the edge
- 14:28Speaker 7: and being where he's supposed to be.
- 14:30Speaker 4: When I watch him play, he looked comfortable out there.
- 14:32Speaker 7: I see the instincts and the savviness that Pete Carroll
- 14:36Speaker 7: was excited about. A lot of times guys look confused
- 14:39Speaker 7: and things are happening fast.
- 14:40Speaker 4: Again. Granted he made mistakes.
- 14:41Speaker 7: Guys get beat all the time, but even with his mistake,
- 14:44Speaker 7: if he had ten more yards, he would have caught
- 14:47Speaker 7: the receiver.
- 14:47Speaker 1: There.
- 14:48Speaker 7: Uh something Yeah, Cliff Framan, it was so you know
- 14:54Speaker 7: a lot of promise in that young man. And Pete
- 14:57Speaker 7: talked to the media and said that Devin Witherspoon's response
- 15:02Speaker 7: to how was it was that he said, it's easy.
- 15:04Speaker 4: The dude's cof I wait to see how he grows.
- 15:08Speaker 6: Now.
- 15:08Speaker 5: You can just when you look at him, there doesn't
- 15:10Speaker 5: see you don't see any panic, right, There's sometimes you
- 15:13Speaker 5: look at a dB in when the receivers are making
- 15:15Speaker 5: their move, or they're breaking you down, or they're stemming
- 15:17Speaker 5: you inside or whatever they're doing. Sometimes when the ball's
- 15:20Speaker 5: in the air or when that's happening, there's kind of
- 15:22Speaker 5: like almost a panic motion with the dB. He just
- 15:24Speaker 5: seems so smooth, you know what I'm saying, And that
- 15:26Speaker 5: for that people got to remember too, that was his
- 15:28Speaker 5: first game. He didn't get to get his feet wet
- 15:30Speaker 5: in the preseason, he didn't get he wasn't practicing leading
- 15:33Speaker 5: for a lot of August. So for him to get
- 15:35Speaker 5: out there and look like that in his first game,
- 15:37Speaker 5: you can see why he was selected at the number
- 15:38Speaker 5: five pick overall. And then we'll keep it with the
- 15:41Speaker 5: OG number fifty four Bobby Wagner. He had ten tackles,
- 15:44Speaker 5: seven solo. And then Jordan Brooks, who continues to amaze
- 15:47Speaker 5: people after what he's done, gone through in the last
- 15:50Speaker 5: seven months, come back from injury as quick as he
- 15:52Speaker 5: did and be ready and have double digit tackles two
- 15:54Speaker 5: weeks in a row he had eleven and six solo.
- 15:57Speaker 5: So love to see the long list of playmakers because
- 16:00Speaker 5: that just shows you that so many guys are contributing
- 16:03Speaker 5: and were involved in the Seahawks win. So definitely love
- 16:06Speaker 5: to see that. Now bump receiver round up. It's a
- 16:09Speaker 5: little a little bit more active this week, would you.
- 16:11Speaker 7: Think, Yeah, last week it didn't seem like a receiver
- 16:15Speaker 7: round up. It seemed like a pee wee football round up,
- 16:19Speaker 7: and we got some action. He got dk He has
- 16:22Speaker 7: six for seventy five along of eighteen. Lockett we just
- 16:25Speaker 7: talked about him. He had eight for fifty nine. Two
- 16:27Speaker 7: Tuddies Noahfen had a big thirty one yard reception and
- 16:31Speaker 7: two catches on the final driving overtime that were pretty awesome.
- 16:34Speaker 4: Four for fifty six.
- 16:35Speaker 7: Kobe Parkinson should have had another sixteen seventeen yards, but
- 16:39Speaker 7: we talked about that penalty that he got caught on.
- 16:41Speaker 7: He had two for forty one. Uncle Will Dissley had
- 16:43Speaker 7: three for thirty five. Jackson Smith and jigb five for
- 16:46Speaker 7: thirty four, shopping A two for fourteen, and Kenneth Walker.
- 16:49Speaker 4: One for eleven.
- 16:51Speaker 7: Jake Bubble had one for three, but he probably had
- 16:54Speaker 7: one of the best blocks I've seen out of receiver
- 16:56Speaker 7: this year when he was put in motion and he
- 16:58Speaker 7: was just looking for work. H he hit like three
- 17:02Speaker 7: or four guys in the process during that run play.
- 17:04Speaker 7: So nice to see Jake Bobbo too.
- 17:07Speaker 5: Man, you said it, But I love first of all
- 17:09Speaker 5: that many people involved, and I love what we like
- 17:12Speaker 5: to look at a lot is receptions and targets six
- 17:15Speaker 5: or six to DK eight for ten, to Tyler four
- 17:18Speaker 5: for four, to Noah two for three, to Kobe three
- 17:21Speaker 5: for three, to Disley five for six, to Jackson two
- 17:23Speaker 5: for two, to char Renee one for two, to Walker
- 17:26Speaker 5: in one for you know what I mean. So it's
- 17:27Speaker 5: just like the percentages up to that means, you know,
- 17:30Speaker 5: Gino is back on in his bag, you know, throwing
- 17:32Speaker 5: for a high percentage because that's what he does. So
- 17:34Speaker 5: definitely love to see that. And man, it just feels
- 17:37Speaker 5: good when this offense is rolling and this team is rolling.
- 17:39Speaker 5: Sea Football is very fun every single Sunday. That'll take
- 17:43Speaker 5: us in to the coach's corner and we're gonna dissect
- 17:46Speaker 5: a little bit we talked about earlier. This is Geno
- 17:48Speaker 5: Smith finding Tyler Lockett for the game winning touchdown.
- 17:51Speaker 4: Gino from the shot gun with Walker beside him.
- 17:54Speaker 2: Three wide receivers in the game. Gino's looking looking now
- 17:58Speaker 2: he throws more time.
- 17:58Speaker 3: It's walking.
- 17:59Speaker 2: Doesn't reached the ball across.
- 18:01Speaker 6: Yeah, it's over.
- 18:03Speaker 3: Thenvy touchdown, Shaey Hawks. Tyler Lockett on a little pass
- 18:08Speaker 3: out into the right side Flan reaches the ball across
- 18:12Speaker 3: the pilon.
- 18:13Speaker 1: He scorge.
- 18:14Speaker 3: They're gonna check to be sure, but all you gotta
- 18:18Speaker 3: do is get the ball across the top of the
- 18:20Speaker 3: pylon and he touches it and that is good for
- 18:23Speaker 3: a first down. Me out of bounds, Tyler Lockett, my
- 18:27Speaker 3: hero game over Cheyawks win thirty seven to thirty one.
- 18:35Speaker 4: Hey man, that was awesome. I got distracted.
- 18:37Speaker 7: You see Jim Miller on the sideline going nut well
- 18:40Speaker 7: as Tyler makes that a touchdown. But they're manned up.
- 18:43Speaker 7: They're man up across the board. You got DK to
- 18:45Speaker 7: the bottom of the formation, Bohm Sell. You see that
- 18:47Speaker 7: safety over the top. They're like, look, we're not gonna
- 18:49Speaker 7: let DK beat us. All right, We're gonna man you
- 18:51Speaker 7: up and bracket you with the safety to the right
- 18:54Speaker 7: of Genoe Smith. You got Uncle will Disley inside, all right,
- 18:57Speaker 7: you got Tyler Lockett has that number two, and you
- 18:59Speaker 7: have Jackson Smith and Jigba outside. What happens here is
- 19:02Speaker 7: the number three number two receivers. That's Will Disley and
- 19:05Speaker 7: Tyler Lockett. Okay, they go inside. They're pretty much setting
- 19:09Speaker 7: a pick for Jackson Smith and Jigua who's who's running
- 19:12Speaker 7: a slant underneath. Once Tyler Lockey kind of makes that pick,
- 19:16Speaker 7: he stutters a little bit and goes back to the outside.
- 19:19Speaker 7: And then after that it's just let me turn get
- 19:21Speaker 7: a field and make a ball or play diving for
- 19:24Speaker 7: the pylon. It was all manned up. They liked the
- 19:28Speaker 7: matchup up top. And then if you know anything about
- 19:31Speaker 7: bow wow, uh, Tyler Lockettet, let me hold you celebration
- 19:38Speaker 7: love it.
- 19:39Speaker 5: No, what I love about this play two bump is
- 19:42Speaker 5: it's a I love that it's the it's the second
- 19:44Speaker 5: third option that wins the game, right because obviously this
- 19:47Speaker 5: ball is supposed to go to JSN on that little slant.
- 19:50Speaker 5: The way everything works out, and then Gino Smith just
- 19:53Speaker 5: you know, get a little pressure for Maiden Hudginson off
- 19:56Speaker 5: the edge. He gets off his spot, rolls out, finds
- 19:58Speaker 5: Tyler Lockett. Tyler Locke decides to final We're perfect pass.
- 20:01Speaker 5: Great extension. Great extension from Jen Mueller on the sideline.
- 20:04Speaker 5: If you're looking at watching the replay at home, Mike
- 20:07Speaker 5: prophone in one hand, excitement, one hand.
- 20:10Speaker 6: I think she got what do you think she got
- 20:11Speaker 6: a foot off the ground there?
- 20:13Speaker 4: Yeah, I gave you know what? Her vertical?
- 20:14Speaker 7: I give Jen a twenty two vertical. Twenty twentys vertical.
- 20:18Speaker 4: Not bad.
- 20:18Speaker 6: Oh yeah, you best believe we're talking about this this week.
- 20:22Speaker 6: But no, I just love it.
- 20:23Speaker 5: And you can just tell love how this the whole team,
- 20:25Speaker 5: the reaction of everyone running down personnel, guys, team guys,
- 20:29Speaker 5: just a really fun way to end it.
- 20:30Speaker 6: And also just take the air out of.
- 20:32Speaker 5: That stadium because everything you heard on the broadcast, anyone
- 20:35Speaker 5: who talked to who was there, it was rocking the
- 20:38Speaker 5: entire game. And just have all the air, you know,
- 20:41Speaker 5: to have sixty five thousand people go quiet other than
- 20:44Speaker 5: Seahawk fans in one second. It is great to see
- 20:47Speaker 5: and ty Locke is just doing his dang. Man, So
- 20:49Speaker 5: this team is wrong. It's crazy how what a week
- 20:52Speaker 5: can do for it. Man, I mean, we weren't down
- 20:53Speaker 5: on this team. We knew it was a bad game
- 20:55Speaker 5: against the Rams, but man, one week later, it's a
- 20:59Speaker 5: complete different feel in the city, in this building. All
- 21:01Speaker 5: across the world, people were like, oh now, people are like,
- 21:03Speaker 5: we're backing it. See I never I always believed in Pete.
- 21:06Speaker 5: I always like Shane Waldron, Yeah that once, not once,
- 21:11Speaker 5: Hey keep it the same bump. But for the first
- 21:14Speaker 5: time in twenty twenty three, we get to get into
- 21:16Speaker 5: our favorite formation.
- 21:18Speaker 2: Here comes the Seahawks offense onto.
- 21:20Speaker 3: The field and the Vikings defense crutching out there knowing
- 21:25Speaker 3: that one meal down and the Seahawks are gonna wind
- 21:29Speaker 3: the clock.
- 21:29Speaker 2: Down and win this one.
- 21:30Speaker 1: It's the victory formation on Hawk Talk.
- 21:34Speaker 6: Victory formation the Seahawks.
- 21:36Speaker 5: Another game that came down to the wire in Detroit,
- 21:39Speaker 5: and this was a great to see. The Seahawks offense
- 21:40Speaker 5: came back to life after a tough performance against the Rams.
- 21:44Speaker 5: They had nearly four hundred yards of total offense, scored
- 21:46Speaker 5: thirty seven points, and won the time of possession thirty
- 21:49Speaker 5: three thirty one to thirty forty eight. So great to
- 21:52Speaker 5: see and great to see Geno Smith bounce back have
- 21:54Speaker 5: a great performance, going three hundred and twenty yards, two toads,
- 21:57Speaker 5: seventy eight percent passers, so offensively good to see all around.
- 22:00Speaker 5: Shane Waldron did his thing, so really cool to.
- 22:02Speaker 7: See Stone foresythe and Jake Carr hurt and had to
- 22:05Speaker 7: feeling for our young tackles, and they stepped up in
- 22:08Speaker 7: a big way. Man didn't really notice him, and that's
- 22:10Speaker 7: always good when it comes to offensive line. Yeah, Trey Brown,
- 22:13Speaker 7: who had himself a day at sack and it picked six.
- 22:16Speaker 7: They call him big play Tray over there in the
- 22:18Speaker 7: Big twelve because all he did was ball out. And
- 22:20Speaker 7: then Devin Witherspoon looked good in his debut. Chenna was
- 22:24Speaker 7: all over the field too, and he was in Jared
- 22:26Speaker 7: Gof's face when he was crying about being hit by DT.
- 22:30Speaker 5: Also quick side. No man, it's nuosue, Chenna newosue. Come on, people,
- 22:37Speaker 5: come on box. I'm disappointed, Chenna nwosue. Come on people
- 22:40Speaker 5: read the pronunciation.
- 22:41Speaker 2: Guy.
- 22:42Speaker 5: My man is making too many plays for y'all to
- 22:44Speaker 5: be messing his name up like that.
- 22:46Speaker 4: Disrespect too much money too. You better get there right
- 22:49Speaker 4: with respect.
- 22:50Speaker 6: Oh my god, Jenna's name.
- 22:51Speaker 5: Anyway, he was killing it all over the field, and
- 22:53Speaker 5: I love the D line because you know, they took
- 22:55Speaker 5: a lot of heat for that first week. You know,
- 22:57Speaker 5: a lot of different people forget there's a lot of
- 22:58Speaker 5: different pieces, different calls, all different things happening up front,
- 23:01Speaker 5: so it's gonna take them a little bit of time
- 23:03Speaker 5: to gel. And they started to do that. We got
- 23:05Speaker 5: to see Draymond Jones get a sack. Trey Brown obviously
- 23:07Speaker 5: came in there, got a sack. We got helped out
- 23:09Speaker 5: with some pressure from the other guys. So it's a
- 23:11Speaker 5: work in progress, but they're getting there. There was definitely
- 23:13Speaker 5: pressure on Golf and then wasn't comfortable.
- 23:16Speaker 6: So I love that.
- 23:17Speaker 5: And then I love the fourth down stops man because
- 23:19Speaker 5: as a defensive guy, those are essentially turnovers to me.
- 23:22Speaker 5: They won't go down in the statues turnovers, but they
- 23:24Speaker 5: essentially are. Those are two possessions where vat and the
- 23:27Speaker 5: punt team didn't come on the field and your offense
- 23:28Speaker 5: got the ball.
- 23:29Speaker 6: So that's a turnover to me. So love to see
- 23:31Speaker 6: what they were doing.
- 23:32Speaker 4: They call it turnover on downs, and that how it
- 23:34Speaker 4: is written.
- 23:35Speaker 6: Out exactly a turnover on downs. But then you look
- 23:37Speaker 6: at the statue, he's not a turnover.
- 23:39Speaker 4: Yeah, that's crazy, that's crazy. You need to fix that.
- 23:41Speaker 4: Get on that.
- 23:42Speaker 7: Hey, I took everybody what they got it done. It
- 23:44Speaker 7: was wild over there in Detroit. Ski masks everywhere, but
- 23:47Speaker 7: it don't matter one in one. Let's go on to Carolina.
- 23:51Speaker 7: Let's get it done.
- 23:52Speaker 5: Absolutely ski masks our guy Jerck Reed getting after the
- 23:55Speaker 5: locker room, and the locker room seemed fun.
- 23:57Speaker 6: There's nothing like a postgame locker.
- 23:58Speaker 5: Room in a sport of football, especially if it's on
- 24:01Speaker 5: the road. It's a different kind of a bonding experience
- 24:03Speaker 5: that if you've never been a part of it, just
- 24:05Speaker 5: really wouldn't know about.
- 24:06Speaker 4: Man.
- 24:06Speaker 6: So love to see that.
- 24:08Speaker 5: Love to see the Seahawks win as they beat the
- 24:10Speaker 5: Detroit Line thirty seven to thirty one in overtime on
- 24:13Speaker 5: the road. The Seahawks are back at home this week
- 24:15Speaker 5: at Loominfield as we celebrate the Super Bowl forty eight
- 24:18Speaker 5: team with a big win or a big week against
- 24:21Speaker 5: the Carolina Panthers. Remember you can catch us everywhere on
- 24:24Speaker 5: Seahawks dot Com, Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Google Play and more
- 24:29Speaker 5: serious XM as well. And if you are listening on

- 24:42Speaker 5: This has been Hawk talk
