- 0:00Speaker 1: And now move the sticks with Daniel Jeremiah and Bucky Brooks.
- 0:07Speaker 2: What's up, everybody? Welcome to move the sticks?
- 0:09Speaker 3: DJ Bucky Rhett Following a week two slate of games,
- 0:13Speaker 3: I am still in Charlotte, North Carolina. Looks like you
- 0:16Speaker 3: two fine gentlemen are at home. Fun weekend of football. Boys, Buck,
- 0:21Speaker 3: you got a grin on your face?
- 0:22Speaker 2: What are you? What are you grinning about over there?
- 0:24Speaker 2: Are you enjoying your time in North Carolina? Because you
- 0:27Speaker 2: stayed you stayed behind. I just wondered, like, if you're
- 0:29Speaker 2: just hanging out, you're gonna make it.
- 0:31Speaker 4: You make a trippyy with the Mountaineers. There's anything, and
- 0:36Speaker 4: oh this is the best.
- 0:39Speaker 3: Yeah, we've got South Alabama coming off of an eighty
- 0:42Speaker 3: seven point performance coming up.
- 0:44Speaker 2: The couple of bets.
- 0:46Speaker 3: Yeah, we've got our work cutout for us on that
- 0:48Speaker 3: One's a little Appstate South al Thursday night. Or Money's
- 0:52Speaker 3: Money's gonna come up there as well to take in
- 0:54Speaker 3: take in the ball game. By that's you're flying out,
- 0:56Speaker 3: So we're gonna we're gonna make a whole whole big
- 0:57Speaker 3: deal of it.
- 0:58Speaker 2: Money.
- 0:58Speaker 3: Then one on the air dur in the Charger game
- 1:00Speaker 3: and said, DJ is being honored at the app State game,
- 1:03Speaker 3: which is not happening. We are literally just going to
- 1:06Speaker 3: a football game. Be very disappointing.
- 1:10Speaker 2: We're going We're going in the Ring of Honor. There's
- 1:13Speaker 2: We're going in the Ring of Honor.
- 1:14Speaker 3: I just needed tickets. They got me tickets, that's all.
- 1:17Speaker 3: So I've got a busy week out here at Carolina,
- 1:20Speaker 3: which is going to get me to our first takeaway
- 1:22Speaker 3: from the week, because we'll get to the games. We're
- 1:24Speaker 3: gonna go through the games. But the biggest takeaway right
- 1:26Speaker 3: now is just what happened. H Bryce Young is no
- 1:29Speaker 3: longer the starter. So from number one overall pick to
- 1:33Speaker 3: a year later, new coaching staff, new regime, and now
- 1:37Speaker 3: it is Andy Dalton under center. I'll get to everything
- 1:41Speaker 3: that I saw yesterday and then in my preparation for
- 1:45Speaker 3: this game what I saw. But I want to get
- 1:47Speaker 3: your guys thoughts on it unfiltered here before I give
- 1:50Speaker 3: you what I what I saw. Buck, you can you
- 1:52Speaker 3: can lead us off and Red follow them up.
- 1:55Speaker 4: Wow, Like major surprise in terms of UH new coach,
- 2:00Speaker 4: new tenure, new coach brought in to really resurrect Bryce Young.
- 2:04Speaker 2: Two gays in we're pulling the plug. Just really surprised
- 2:08Speaker 2: at all of it.
- 2:09Speaker 4: Last year, we didn't want to put blame on Bryce
- 2:12Speaker 4: Young because we felt like the supporting cast wasn't good enough.
- 2:15Speaker 4: This year, we have a new coach, first time head coach,
- 2:18Speaker 4: trying to bring in a new system. Yes, he has
- 2:20Speaker 4: some veterans around him, but I don't know if two
- 2:23Speaker 4: games is enough of a sample size to really know
- 2:26Speaker 4: what a young.
- 2:26Speaker 2: Player can be. And the final point would be, Man.
- 2:31Speaker 4: I feel like we're doing such a disservice to the
- 2:32Speaker 4: young quarterbacks around the league.
- 2:35Speaker 2: Like I don't think we train them properly. I don't
- 2:38Speaker 2: think we give them enough time.
- 2:39Speaker 4: I think the expectations are outside based on I guess
- 2:44Speaker 4: draft grades in those things. To me, look, I understand
- 2:47Speaker 4: he hadn't played well, but two games into a new season.
- 2:50Speaker 4: To me, it just seems like it's not enough time
- 2:52Speaker 4: to fully understand who Bryce Young is and what he
- 2:55Speaker 4: will be at the next level.
- 2:56Speaker 5: And I think you make some really good points there
- 2:58Speaker 5: about the development piece, certainly, Buck, but I think you
- 3:01Speaker 5: know this is a decision to me that you got
- 3:04Speaker 5: to also go back, you know, a few years. I mean,
- 3:06Speaker 5: like this is a team that has had mounting pressure
- 3:10Speaker 5: to win after some very disappointing and look, let's be frank,
- 3:15Speaker 5: embarrassing performances year over year, right, even going back to
- 3:19Speaker 5: you know, the tail end of the Matt Rule era,
- 3:21Speaker 5: and then you know into Frank Reich and you know,
- 3:24Speaker 5: having coaching changes mid season. We've got you know, overhauls
- 3:27Speaker 5: on staffs mid season. And it comes down to this
- 3:31Speaker 5: for me with Dave Canalis, you know, coming in as
- 3:33Speaker 5: a rookie head coach, but you know, certainly more of
- 3:37Speaker 5: a proven track record running an offense.
- 3:39Speaker 2: Right.
- 3:40Speaker 5: We saw the reclamation project or the rejuvenation perhaps is
- 3:44Speaker 5: a better word that he had with Baker Mayfield, and
- 3:45Speaker 5: that worked right in Tampa. And so you know, now
- 3:48Speaker 5: you're like, okay, well, where are we trusting that things
- 3:52Speaker 5: are going wrong here? We're trusting that it's you know,
- 3:54Speaker 5: the the second year quarterback into his second game, or
- 3:57Speaker 5: we trusting that you know, it's his things are going
- 4:00Speaker 5: role on his end, or you know, the coach in
- 4:02Speaker 5: Canalis who comes off a very successful run as an
- 4:05Speaker 5: offensive coordinator. It's like you put two and two together here,
- 4:08Speaker 5: and if a change has to be made to start
- 4:09Speaker 5: winning games, I think you go, you know, you side
- 4:12Speaker 5: with the part of the equation that has the proven
- 4:15Speaker 5: track record at this point, at least on the offensive side,
- 4:18Speaker 5: and that to me is Canalis.
- 4:19Speaker 6: So then you make the change of quarterback.
- 4:22Speaker 5: I think it's a lot of things working here, and
- 4:24Speaker 5: certainly getting embarrassed two weeks in a row to open
- 4:27Speaker 5: this season plays a role here.
- 4:28Speaker 3: Dij Yeah, I'll start there because I said this to
- 4:32Speaker 3: somebody after the game was over yesterday, which was when
- 4:35Speaker 3: you have an offensive head coach and you can have
- 4:38Speaker 3: a plan for a player in place, but when your
- 4:41Speaker 3: reputation is built on the offensive side of the ball,
- 4:44Speaker 3: and you are as inept as this team has looked
- 4:46Speaker 3: through two weeks and including a game I was at
- 4:48Speaker 3: yesterday where they could not complete a bubble screen, They
- 4:51Speaker 3: couldn't complete a hitch, They didn't even try to push
- 4:54Speaker 3: the ball down the field. It's one of those things
- 4:56Speaker 3: whereas a head coach with an offensive background, you got
- 4:59Speaker 3: to be sitting there think and man, like the rest
- 5:00Speaker 3: of the league's going to just be laughing at me.
- 5:02Speaker 3: You're seeing a bubble screen right here, that this is
- 5:05Speaker 3: a high school throw that they can't make.
- 5:07Speaker 2: It was so bad as I said, I don't think I.
- 5:10Speaker 3: Was anticipating a change would be coming because it and
- 5:15Speaker 3: I'll get to the personnel here momentarily, but it was
- 5:18Speaker 3: to be there and see it in person, because Buck,
- 5:20Speaker 3: I think where you're coming at it from, it's like,
- 5:22Speaker 3: this is a you can't do this, This doesn't make sense.
- 5:25Speaker 3: This is number one overall pick. This is so early
- 5:27Speaker 3: in his development. But to be in a stadium that's
- 5:29Speaker 3: dead as a door nail and to see how embarrassingly
- 5:33Speaker 3: bad this offense was. Its embarrassing that that's why I
- 5:37Speaker 3: did not see and this could be an overreaction and
- 5:39Speaker 3: viewed as such, but that's what it is stemming from
- 5:42Speaker 3: and the other thing. And I'll get your thoughts on this.
- 5:44Speaker 3: I tweet this out. It's unscientific, but when you go
- 5:47Speaker 3: to a stadium, as we do each and every week,
- 5:49Speaker 3: I look out into the stands and I look to
- 5:50Speaker 3: see the jerseys that they have there. So if you
- 5:53Speaker 3: think about receivers right which you can start multiples, tight
- 5:56Speaker 3: end running back, do you know how many of their
- 5:58Speaker 3: current players at those positions? When I looked around the
- 6:00Speaker 3: stands that I seen a Chuba hubberd jerseys that I
- 6:03Speaker 3: see in exavierly getting jerseys.
- 6:04Speaker 2: No, you know what I saw. I saw Muggsy Bogue jersey.
- 6:07Speaker 2: That was what I saw.
- 6:08Speaker 3: There was more Buggsy Bogue jerseys in the stands in
- 6:11Speaker 3: Carolina than there were for their current skill guys. Their
- 6:14Speaker 3: offensive line is not good. It's just it's there's a
- 6:18Speaker 3: long list of things that got us to this point.
- 6:21Speaker 3: But I do think that it is in some ways
- 6:25Speaker 3: not surprising that this this move is taking place this early.
- 6:28Speaker 3: That's how bad it looked yesterday.
- 6:30Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 6:30Speaker 4: Man, it sounds like an organizational failure from top to bottom.
- 6:35Speaker 4: And let's be honest, it's been a bit of a
- 6:38Speaker 4: mess since David Teffery kind of popped in and all
- 6:41Speaker 4: the moves, the secession of moves that were made. Right, So,
- 6:45Speaker 4: you think about you fire Ron Rivere, you bring in
- 6:50Speaker 4: I mean, Matt Rule, it doesn't necessarily work. You remove
- 6:53Speaker 4: on from Cam Newton, you bring in, i mean, just
- 6:56Speaker 4: a revolving door of quarterbacks. You get the number one
- 6:59Speaker 4: overall pick, you make the selection with Bryce Young And
- 7:02Speaker 4: I'll say this honestly, DJ, it probably didn't help that
- 7:04Speaker 4: on Sunday night, the Houston Texans played with the second
- 7:07Speaker 4: overall pick in CJ. Stroud and they looked nothing like
- 7:10Speaker 4: the ineptitude that you're seeing in Carolina. All of that
- 7:14Speaker 4: stuff factors into it. And I just wonder, with the
- 7:17Speaker 4: franchise and with the number one overall pick Bryce Young,
- 7:20Speaker 4: where do you go from here?
- 7:22Speaker 2: You know? Because when you put a plug to put.
- 7:23Speaker 4: Andy Dalton in man, that is saying something in a
- 7:27Speaker 4: major way about.
- 7:29Speaker 2: How you feel about the number one overall pick and
- 7:31Speaker 2: Bryce Young, you know.
- 7:33Speaker 6: And I wonder, and oh, look, here's the thing.
- 7:35Speaker 5: Dan Morgan was on the Panthers in that Panther's front
- 7:38Speaker 5: office when they made that trade, but he wasn't, you know,
- 7:41Speaker 5: the one with the final say there right, you know.
- 7:43Speaker 5: But I do wonder if that had been if this
- 7:45Speaker 5: had been his show, right, and if it had been
- 7:48Speaker 5: Dave Canalis's show, and they had all you know, gone
- 7:51Speaker 5: in on Bryce Young that way together, would there be
- 7:54Speaker 5: a longer leash here? But the fact that that was,
- 7:57Speaker 5: I guess if you call it, you know, from a
- 8:00Speaker 5: era at least halfway speaking through the head coach, you know,
- 8:03Speaker 5: you maybe feel like you have a little bit more
- 8:05Speaker 5: of a of a rope to to, you know, make
- 8:08Speaker 5: this move right now and move to Andy Dalton. But yeah,
- 8:10Speaker 5: it was clear DJ, they had to do something. You
- 8:12Speaker 5: can't go on like this, You're gonna lose the rest
- 8:15Speaker 5: of the team.
- 8:16Speaker 3: Yeah, and it's not it's not a Bryce Young singular issue,
- 8:19Speaker 3: but he's not. You can say, I can say that
- 8:21Speaker 3: Bryce Young is not the problem with this team, but
- 8:24Speaker 3: I can also say, at this point in time, I
- 8:26Speaker 3: don't know that he has the skills to be the
- 8:27Speaker 3: solution to what they where they are right now, they
- 8:30Speaker 3: don't at least with you know, with any dogts. You say,
- 8:32Speaker 3: at least we have some experience and some knowledge to
- 8:36Speaker 3: maybe provide to this group. But when you when you
- 8:38Speaker 3: have not when you don't have hard of any weapons,
- 8:40Speaker 3: and you go out and you trade up. But one
- 8:42Speaker 3: spot that they did to go get Xavier Lyguet is
- 8:44Speaker 3: the guy that you've you've identified. We have no playmakers
- 8:47Speaker 3: on this team. We don't have difference makers. That's our guy.
- 8:50Speaker 2: You know.
- 8:50Speaker 3: He targets shed yesterday zero zero. And it's not like
- 8:54Speaker 3: I looked, I watched the game. I prepped for that game.
- 8:57Speaker 3: There was not Andre Johnson and Randy Moss on the
- 8:59Speaker 3: field with him to be taking targets away from him.
- 9:03Speaker 3: That didn't make any sense to me. So I again,
- 9:07Speaker 3: there are six players away from maybe being ten players
- 9:09Speaker 3: away from being good.
- 9:10Speaker 6: And the only thing I.
- 9:11Speaker 3: Would caution, the only thing I would caution with the
- 9:14Speaker 3: comparison with him and CJ, and CJ has been awesome.
- 9:18Speaker 3: CJ has been fantastic. But the only thing I would
- 9:21Speaker 3: caution is look at those rosters. How many players for
- 9:24Speaker 3: the Carolina Panthers would start for the Houston Texans. And
- 9:27Speaker 3: when you come to that conclusion, I think everybody will
- 9:29Speaker 3: back off of Bryce Young just a little bit.
- 9:31Speaker 2: But it's bad.
- 9:32Speaker 3: It is bad right now in Carolina. Let's get to
- 9:35Speaker 3: the next game here. Let's get to the one we're
- 9:37Speaker 3: referencing with Houston and Chicago RTT. When you look at
- 9:41Speaker 3: you look at that ballgame, offensively, both teams, I mean,
- 9:45Speaker 3: only be talked about is the Bears having struggled. Both
- 9:48Speaker 3: teams did struggle a little bit, and I think it's
- 9:50Speaker 3: credit to two outstanding defenses.
- 9:53Speaker 6: No question.
- 9:54Speaker 5: But it's the one in Houston that's getting the headlines
- 9:56Speaker 5: here today because of the pressure they put on Caleb
- 10:00Speaker 5: William six sacks in the game, twenty three hurrys, thirty
- 10:02Speaker 5: two pressures, pressured on thirty eight percent of his dropbacks,
- 10:07Speaker 5: and big reasons for those pressures, of course were Daniel Hunter,
- 10:10Speaker 5: this year's Marquis free agency acquisition by Nick Casario and
- 10:13Speaker 5: the Houston Texans, and of course Will Anderson, the number
- 10:16Speaker 5: three overall pick last year, each had seven pressures in
- 10:19Speaker 5: this game, and they were running a lot of stunts.
- 10:21Speaker 5: They were moving guys around in this Bears offensive line
- 10:25Speaker 5: from top to bottom, left to right was completely overwhelmed.
- 10:28Speaker 5: I think there's a lot of talk about the interior
- 10:30Speaker 5: guys not being great. Well, both tackles got whooped a
- 10:33Speaker 5: number of times. I mean, you had Darnell right out
- 10:35Speaker 5: there on that last sack there from from Will Anderson.
- 10:39Speaker 5: You know, it looked like he was playing first base
- 10:41Speaker 5: and he was stretching to pick up, you know, pick
- 10:43Speaker 5: up a throw from the third baseman to beat the runner.
- 10:47Speaker 5: It was so overextended, right, I mean, ayk will Anderson
- 10:51Speaker 5: or Daniel Hunter on that one.
- 10:52Speaker 6: It didn't even touch Darnell Wright.
- 10:54Speaker 5: It kind of was like a receiver running a corner
- 10:56Speaker 5: route at the top of his break and just kind
- 10:58Speaker 5: of gave him a little stick and got a you know,
- 11:01Speaker 5: Roxton Jones there on the left side certainly took his
- 11:03Speaker 5: fair share of it as well. Everybody has, you know,
- 11:06Speaker 5: some blame to wear in that one. I think it's
- 11:08Speaker 5: amazing that Caleb Williams finished this game right. So they've
- 11:13Speaker 5: got to figure some stuff out there. I think that
- 11:15Speaker 5: you know, some of this you gotta look at. They've
- 11:16Speaker 5: got to do some stuff scheme wise too, to figure
- 11:18Speaker 5: out a way to neutralize some of this pass rus
- 11:20Speaker 5: just not just on you know, one on ones offensive
- 11:23Speaker 5: lineman getting beat. They got to figure out some ways
- 11:25Speaker 5: to get the ball out of Caleb's hands and to
- 11:28Speaker 5: get him out of there if they if they can't
- 11:30Speaker 5: hold up in the pocket.
- 11:31Speaker 2: Yeah. No, it was a lot of pressure. I mean,
- 11:33Speaker 2: he was under constant duress.
- 11:34Speaker 4: And I think what Kayleb Williams discovered is how much
- 11:37Speaker 4: different the game is at the pro level compared to
- 11:40Speaker 4: the collegiate level. The things that he was able to
- 11:42Speaker 4: get away with at USC when he would leave the pocket,
- 11:44Speaker 4: he can't do those things because the windows are smaller,
- 11:47Speaker 4: the players are much faster, and the hits are far
- 11:49Speaker 4: more vioalient. Now he escaped arm in terms of not
- 11:52Speaker 4: being like stroke to the point where he was staying down.
- 11:56Speaker 2: But man, he took some shots.
- 11:58Speaker 4: And what you would like him to do is to
- 12:00Speaker 4: be able to win with his arm and be less
- 12:03Speaker 4: reliant on his legs. But when you're the Houston Texans,
- 12:06Speaker 4: and the Texans are putting pressure on him, like like
- 12:09Speaker 4: he was seeing, Look, man, you got to do what
- 12:11Speaker 4: you can do.
- 12:11Speaker 2: But you just saw the.
- 12:12Speaker 4: Impact of pressure on a young quarterback and how it
- 12:16Speaker 4: completely broke down not only his game, but it broke
- 12:19Speaker 4: down to Chicago Bears game plan.
- 12:21Speaker 5: Look in DJ on that front with like there's just
- 12:23Speaker 5: there's nowhere for him to escape to. It's like everybody's
- 12:27Speaker 5: getting beat and some of these some of these guys
- 12:29Speaker 5: are just getting pushed back into his lap. And so
- 12:32Speaker 5: you know, even though it may not be a you know,
- 12:34Speaker 5: a defender that's about to sack him, there, I mean
- 12:37Speaker 5: like the offensive lineman is in his chest and so
- 12:39Speaker 5: there's just.
- 12:40Speaker 6: There's nowhere to maneuver. It's like he can't step up
- 12:42Speaker 6: and make a throw to beat the edge. It's just there.
- 12:45Speaker 5: There's no escape plan. There's no like easy solute. There
- 12:49Speaker 5: were no easy solutions for him in this game.
- 12:52Speaker 3: Yeah, and also a game of adjustments, and I give
- 12:54Speaker 3: Tomko ryans a lot of credit the Bears came out.
- 12:56Speaker 3: When you start this tape and you watch it, Caleb
- 12:59Speaker 3: got into a little them early. It was a it
- 13:01Speaker 3: was a four man rush. They were able to get
- 13:04Speaker 3: free releases off the line of scrimmage.
- 13:06Speaker 2: He was on time.
- 13:07Speaker 3: He actually started out the game well. And then what
- 13:10Speaker 3: happened is they had an instance where they collapsed the center,
- 13:13Speaker 3: and once they saw the kind of the instability of
- 13:17Speaker 3: the interior of this offensive line, they attacked it. They
- 13:19Speaker 3: attacked it with pressures, sim pressures. Then they ended up
- 13:24Speaker 3: just just even when they went simple games like simple
- 13:26Speaker 3: simple twists they.
- 13:27Speaker 2: Did, they couldn't pick it up. So now it just
- 13:31Speaker 2: it sped Caleb up.
- 13:33Speaker 3: And then Caleb again Buck talked about trying to create
- 13:35Speaker 3: and extend plays like a did a s seat. This
- 13:38Speaker 3: is you know, this is not you're not dodging one
- 13:40Speaker 3: car here, You've got this is a highway? Is an
- 13:43Speaker 3: autobahns coming over the place he's playing, Yeah, it's exactly
- 13:49Speaker 3: what was.
- 13:49Speaker 2: He's playing Frogger out there.
- 13:51Speaker 3: So I'm going through this and I'm like, okay, oh boy,
- 13:53Speaker 3: the center got collapsed, and I just started checking that,
- 13:56Speaker 3: checking it checking it, checking it, and so that that
- 13:58Speaker 3: became a problem. Now he got hung up on number
- 14:01Speaker 3: one a few times. That's a teaching moment. And I've
- 14:03Speaker 3: seen Caleb in this game and throughout his career. He
- 14:06Speaker 3: can get through progressions. It's not something he's incapable of doing.
- 14:11Speaker 3: But there were some instance he hung on too long
- 14:13Speaker 3: number one. Teaching point. Okay, you learn from that tape.
- 14:16Speaker 3: Their screen game, the timing and their screen game is
- 14:18Speaker 3: not good. There's teams and buck you've seen it. Haven't
- 14:22Speaker 3: been around the Packers. I saw it with Andy Reid.
- 14:24Speaker 3: There's certain coaches and schemes that understand screens, understand timing,
- 14:28Speaker 3: they teach it well, they execute it well. And there's
- 14:30Speaker 3: other teams that doesn't look right. They're not a good
- 14:32Speaker 3: screen team right now. They're timings jacked up on that stuff.
- 14:35Speaker 3: So they've got to be better with that. He doesn't
- 14:39Speaker 3: get credit on the stat sheet, you know, for some
- 14:41Speaker 3: of these things. But there's a third and fourteen or
- 14:44Speaker 3: about the thirty yard line, he rips a seam, it's
- 14:47Speaker 3: perfectly thrown. You get interference. They get the ball right
- 14:49Speaker 3: there inside the ten yard line. That's a thirty yard
- 14:52Speaker 3: throw or whatever with a high degree of difficulty. It
- 14:55Speaker 3: doesn't show up on the box score because you got
- 14:57Speaker 3: to pass interference. Following that, he hits Roma Dunes a
- 15:00Speaker 3: little pop that Rome's unfortunately not able to bring that
- 15:03Speaker 3: one in. There's other drops throughout the game. I mean,
- 15:06Speaker 3: there's there was a lot of other issues. But the
- 15:08Speaker 3: thing that I was encouraged was RTT mentioned. He got up,
- 15:12Speaker 3: He got the stuffing kicked out of him, and he
- 15:15Speaker 3: just kept getting up and getting up and getting up
- 15:17Speaker 3: and getting up. And I didn't see him Buck show
- 15:20Speaker 3: up his offensive lineman. I didn't see him just like, oh,
- 15:23Speaker 3: here we go again. They just rushed forward. I just
- 15:25Speaker 3: got smoked. He just he got back up. The one
- 15:28Speaker 3: thing that did bother me for their team. And I
- 15:30Speaker 3: know Dj Moore is he's I've heard nothing, but he's
- 15:33Speaker 3: a great dude. Everywhere he's been, teammates love him. I
- 15:36Speaker 3: thought he got frustrated in that game. The ball wasn't
- 15:39Speaker 3: finding him. They weren't on the same page with back
- 15:41Speaker 3: shoulder throws. There were some near misses, but his quarterback
- 15:45Speaker 3: is getting the snot kicked out of him. And then
- 15:47Speaker 3: after an errant throw, Dj Moore kind of flips his
- 15:50Speaker 3: helmet off on the sideline and in my opinion, he
- 15:53Speaker 3: showed up his quarterback making his second start.
- 15:56Speaker 2: You can't do that.
- 15:57Speaker 3: That's something that needs to be communicated to him and
- 16:00Speaker 3: just a little a little recognition buck of Hey, maybe
- 16:05Speaker 3: as receivers, maybe we go back and watch the heat
- 16:08Speaker 3: that the stude was under before you start getting frustrated
- 16:11Speaker 3: with the ball being a little left or right.
- 16:12Speaker 4: Yeah, now, DJ, I think that's one of the things
- 16:15Speaker 4: that when you start a young quarterback is one of
- 16:17Speaker 4: those things that should be communicated to not only all
- 16:19Speaker 4: the veterans, but the coaches. How we handle, how we react,
- 16:21Speaker 4: your body language, those things. Because you are playing a
- 16:25Speaker 4: young quarterback who's in the second start. He's trying to
- 16:27Speaker 4: figure it out. The speed of the game is so
- 16:29Speaker 4: much faster than what he's used to and we have
- 16:32Speaker 4: these outside expectations on what he should be able to
- 16:35Speaker 4: do right away. DJ Moore should know better. They compensated him, well,
- 16:39Speaker 4: they just did his contract. He had to know going
- 16:41Speaker 4: in it's gonna be some ups and downs when you
- 16:45Speaker 4: play the young quarterback. What I loved is I saw
- 16:47Speaker 4: Keenan Allen working with the young quarterback, talking to him
- 16:50Speaker 4: on the side and those things, but you know, you
- 16:52Speaker 4: want everyone to be on board and in the heat
- 16:54Speaker 4: of the moment, yes, those frustrations can sometimes boil over,
- 16:58Speaker 4: but you would like to see him have a little
- 17:00Speaker 4: more composure, a little more poise where he doesn't show
- 17:04Speaker 4: up the quarterback on national.
- 17:05Speaker 2: TV, so it becomes maybe a bigger issue than it
- 17:08Speaker 2: really needs to be.
- 17:09Speaker 3: Yeah, and all that being said, their defense was so outstanding.
- 17:14Speaker 3: They had the ball in their hands with the chance
- 17:16Speaker 3: to drive at the end of the game to go
- 17:18Speaker 3: win the ball game. So if you're a Bears fan,
- 17:20Speaker 3: I would take tremendous encouragement from that. The defense is stellar,
- 17:23Speaker 3: Your quarterback is really tough. There's some offensive line issues
- 17:26Speaker 3: that aren't going to get solved, you know, personnel wise
- 17:29Speaker 3: until we get to the offseason. But they can clean
- 17:31Speaker 3: up some of their at least communication issues that they've had,
- 17:34Speaker 3: so not all lost Houston. That defense, that front is legit,
- 17:38Speaker 3: and they've got guys that can win all those ches
- 17:41Speaker 3: and they can push the pocket. Oh big time, big time,
- 17:43Speaker 3: big time. That's one of the best teams in the NFL.
- 17:45Speaker 2: I mean it is.
- 17:46Speaker 3: There's no shame in that for the Chicago Bears. Let's
- 17:49Speaker 3: get to the next game here, Dallas, New Orleans. Rhett,
- 17:53Speaker 3: you look at the Cowboys, you look at the Saints.
- 17:54Speaker 3: I mean, I could make an argument that the Cowboys
- 17:57Speaker 3: defense is the biggest takeaway. I can make an argument
- 17:59Speaker 3: with the same are doing on offense their two games
- 18:01Speaker 3: is the biggest takeaway. There's a lot of different ways
- 18:03Speaker 3: you can go here.
- 18:05Speaker 5: Yeah, and I actually kind of looked at the sequencing
- 18:07Speaker 5: of this thing a little bit too, because I think
- 18:09Speaker 5: on the surface, most people kind of look at this,
- 18:11Speaker 5: you know, like, oh, this will blowout from start to finish. Now,
- 18:14Speaker 5: even though the Saints scored touchdowns on their first six possessions,
- 18:18Speaker 5: say that again, they score touchdowns on their first six possessions,
- 18:21Speaker 5: which is pretty incredible. I think you do have to
- 18:24Speaker 5: look at this thing a little bit deeper in that
- 18:28Speaker 5: you go back, it was twenty one to six in
- 18:29Speaker 5: the second quarter. Here Dak makes a phenomenal tight window
- 18:32Speaker 5: throw to ceed Lamb and CD takes it the distance,
- 18:35Speaker 5: and all of a sudden, it's twenty one thirteen here
- 18:37Speaker 5: in the second quarter.
- 18:38Speaker 6: I have very much a ballgame here.
- 18:40Speaker 3: Now.
- 18:40Speaker 5: The Saints then go on on eleven play seventy yard
- 18:42Speaker 5: touchdown drive to make it a twenty eight to thirteen game.
- 18:45Speaker 5: And this is where things start to get off the rails.
- 18:48Speaker 5: Cowboys go on another drive of their own. They're approaching
- 18:50Speaker 5: midfield here, and they got a chance to get it
- 18:53Speaker 5: back to a one score game. And you got a
- 18:55Speaker 5: wide open slant route that's going to go like Dak
- 18:58Speaker 5: sees it, he fires, it's a good throw. Jalen Brooks
- 19:03Speaker 5: is running that route and he trips, he trips, he falls,
- 19:07Speaker 5: and it is an easy interception for the defender. And
- 19:10Speaker 5: at that point, the wheels start coming off the bus
- 19:13Speaker 5: because then the Saints score off that interception for their
- 19:15Speaker 5: fifth straight touchdown, and then the Cowboys do march down.
- 19:20Speaker 5: They get a field goal for the end of the half.
- 19:21Speaker 5: But it's thirty five to thirteen right at that point,
- 19:24Speaker 5: and you're like, holy smokes, we're about to make this,
- 19:26Speaker 5: you know, look like we're about to make this a
- 19:27Speaker 5: one score game again. All of a sudden, things start snowballing. Look,
- 19:32Speaker 5: and I think for the Cowboys, they'll go back offensively
- 19:35Speaker 5: and they'll look at their first two drives at thirteen
- 19:37Speaker 5: and fourteen, play drives on their first two and they
- 19:40Speaker 5: only come away with six points on those drives. They
- 19:44Speaker 5: get down to the thirty four and down to the
- 19:45Speaker 5: twenty obviously can't have that. You know, they had zero
- 19:49Speaker 5: third down conversions in the red zone. They ran nine
- 19:51Speaker 5: plays in the red zone, got zero touchdowns and through
- 19:54Speaker 5: an interception. So just not great overall for the Cowboys
- 19:59Speaker 5: here defensively, you know, they succumbed dj to what Alvin
- 20:03Speaker 5: Kamara started to like. I mean it's like we got
- 20:06Speaker 5: Christmas Day, you know, four years ago Alvin Kamara against
- 20:10Speaker 5: by the way, on Mike Zimmer coach defense, if you might.
- 20:12Speaker 2: Recall m okay.
- 20:15Speaker 4: So that's a good pool because that explains the nightmares
- 20:18Speaker 4: at the bottom of the screen. What I would say this,
- 20:21Speaker 4: having studied Clinton Kobi K's offense last week for the Notebook,
- 20:26Speaker 4: I knew that he was really in his bag when
- 20:28Speaker 4: it came to free snap motions, shifts, play passes, misdirection
- 20:33Speaker 4: and deception. And I'm gonna say this, like Derek carl
- 20:36Speaker 4: looks very comfortable running that type of offense. But it's
- 20:38Speaker 4: not just Derek Carr. I think it's Alvin Kamar being
- 20:41Speaker 4: the chess piece. I go back to years ago at
- 20:44Speaker 4: the Combine where we watched after those running backs work out.
- 20:47Speaker 4: It was Christian McCaffrey and Alvin Kamar, and I felt
- 20:50Speaker 4: like they put on one of the best exhibitions of
- 20:53Speaker 4: route running that I've ever seen from wide receivers, and
- 20:55Speaker 4: it was them going tip for tech when it came
- 20:57Speaker 4: to running routes and for all of the love that
- 21:00Speaker 4: Christian McCaffrey would get being that chess piece that you
- 21:03Speaker 4: can move around the board like the Queen. Alvin Kamara
- 21:06Speaker 4: has the same kind of potential and capability, and what
- 21:09Speaker 4: we're seeing, we're seeing the Saints utilize all of the
- 21:13Speaker 4: skills that he brings to the table.
- 21:15Speaker 2: This is a fun offense to watch and I never imagine.
- 21:18Speaker 4: Going into this year that this was going to be
- 21:20Speaker 4: a musty TV offense based on what Clint Kubiak is
- 21:23Speaker 4: doing with Alvin Kamara, Derek Carr and all of the Bills.
- 21:26Speaker 2: And Wilson's with his offense.
- 21:28Speaker 3: Yeah, it was fun watching their offensive tape. It was physical,
- 21:33Speaker 3: it was well coordinated, it was well designed, it was
- 21:35Speaker 3: well executed. And next year when I released my first
- 21:38Speaker 3: Top fifty, you guys, I need as friends and accountability
- 21:41Speaker 3: partners to you guys to say, Okay, put now close
- 21:44Speaker 3: your computer DJ and put it away and unplug your phone.
- 21:48Speaker 3: Because I love Talisi. Fuaga loved him, and I ended up.
- 21:52Speaker 3: I think I moved him down, maybe a couple spots,
- 21:54Speaker 3: not far. He was still way high up my list,
- 21:57Speaker 3: but I think he was my top offensive He was
- 22:00Speaker 3: right behind Alt. I think I had him right behind
- 22:02Speaker 3: Alt on my first list in terms of offensive lineman.
- 22:04Speaker 3: He's been awesome. Man, he has been awesome. And it's like, Okay,
- 22:08Speaker 3: well this test or, this drill who cares his tape
- 22:11Speaker 3: was so good. He was so physical. He's been excellent
- 22:15Speaker 3: along that offensive line. One interesting note, Doug Farrer had
- 22:18Speaker 3: a tweet and I just pulled it up because it
- 22:20Speaker 3: brought up a great point. You know, we always talk
- 22:22Speaker 3: about guys having to switch positions in the NFL and
- 22:25Speaker 3: offensive linemen. That can be difficult. But when you look
- 22:27Speaker 3: at Joe Alt, who's swapped, who from from left to right,
- 22:31Speaker 3: Dominique Pooney who's gone from tackle to guard, Fuaga who's
- 22:34Speaker 3: gone from the right to the left, Cooper Bebe he's
- 22:36Speaker 3: gone from tackle to back inside, these guys are playing
- 22:39Speaker 3: the best of these rookie linemen and they're playing a
- 22:41Speaker 3: position they didn't play last year. So let's keep an
- 22:44Speaker 3: open mind when we're evaluating players that that versatility can
- 22:48Speaker 3: Guys can.
- 22:49Speaker 2: Do different things. They don't need to be type cast,
- 22:50Speaker 2: so to speak.
- 22:51Speaker 5: How many forty four point performances have you seen where
- 22:54Speaker 5: the quarterback only completes eleven passes.
- 22:57Speaker 3: That's efficient, it's pretty amazing, an explosion bucks As a
- 23:01Speaker 3: play caller on the high school level, efficiency and explosiveness
- 23:04Speaker 3: is a good combination.
- 23:06Speaker 4: It is a good combination. And that's the thing that's
- 23:08Speaker 4: really interesting about the Saints. We won't necessarily call them
- 23:12Speaker 4: San Francisco in terms of like how they deploy their personnel,
- 23:15Speaker 4: but man, when you think about this offense and you
- 23:17Speaker 4: think about the number of play callers that have utilized
- 23:21Speaker 4: a version of the Kubiak Shanahan, whatever system that you
- 23:24Speaker 4: want to talk about, it creates a lot of stress
- 23:29Speaker 4: and a lot of headaches with defensive coordinators trying to
- 23:31Speaker 4: figure out how to handle all of the things that
- 23:34Speaker 4: they do, and with the Saints because they have, like
- 23:38Speaker 4: everyone talks about the quarterback being central to the offensive success,
- 23:42Speaker 4: I believe is that that offensive weapon that Alvin Kamari
- 23:46Speaker 4: Is that really puts you into buying because his ability
- 23:49Speaker 4: to run it, catch it, line up anywhere, and do
- 23:51Speaker 4: a bunch of different things really creates opportunities for the others.
- 23:55Speaker 2: Hass off to Clan Kubiak. This this is fine.
- 23:57Speaker 4: I can't wait to continue to see how he builds
- 23:59Speaker 4: and expand on what they've already shown the football world
- 24:02Speaker 4: thus far.
- 24:04Speaker 2: Also hat tip to.
- 24:04Speaker 3: Jeff Ireland, who's been you know, the personnel architect in
- 24:08Speaker 3: New Orleans for a long time, who's done an excellent
- 24:11Speaker 3: job of identifying and drafting players. Doesn't put his name
- 24:15Speaker 3: out there, isn't somebody that needs all the love. He's
- 24:17Speaker 3: been a general manager before. He is really good at
- 24:20Speaker 3: scouting players and adding talent. And the Saints team that
- 24:23Speaker 3: I don't know that we thought about much less talked
- 24:25Speaker 3: about all offseason is off to a two and zero
- 24:27Speaker 3: start and the team that cruise to a victory is
- 24:35Speaker 3: the Minnesota Vikings and a big time, big time game
- 24:38Speaker 3: for them, second year in a row. They beat the
- 24:39Speaker 3: forty nine Ers, which, by the way, I did predict
- 24:42Speaker 3: that one. So of all the games that I got wrong,
- 24:46Speaker 3: and every fan base gives me crap. Hey, Viking fans.
- 24:49Speaker 3: Who's got your back here?
- 24:50Speaker 2: You know what I mean?
- 24:51Speaker 3: They match up well, it's a former coach when you
- 24:53Speaker 3: look at at someone and Kevin O'Connor, who's got a
- 24:56Speaker 3: very good understanding and familiarity with the way Kyle Shannon
- 25:00Speaker 3: and coaches and teaches and schemes it up.
- 25:02Speaker 2: He's got some recent success here.
- 25:05Speaker 3: But the biggest story for me in this ball game
- 25:07Speaker 3: was Sam You know, you look at Sam Donald two
- 25:09Speaker 3: under sixty eight yards, including this ninety seven yard bomb
- 25:13Speaker 3: to Justin Jefferson that was right on the money.
- 25:16Speaker 2: He's doing what we thought he would do.
- 25:17Speaker 6: Buck.
- 25:18Speaker 3: We knew we had all that ability, needed the opportunity.
- 25:21Speaker 3: I'm in here in Carolina and I'm sitting here thinking
- 25:24Speaker 3: they had Sam Donald and Baker Mayfield in the building.
- 25:27Speaker 3: It wasn't working out for them there.
- 25:29Speaker 2: They both move on.
- 25:29Speaker 3: They've both been successful and more stable organizations. That leads
- 25:33Speaker 3: you to believe that maybe the quarterback wasn't the issue
- 25:36Speaker 3: when it comes to the struggles of the Carolina Panthers.
- 25:40Speaker 3: But going back through this game, Sam, I mean, I
- 25:43Speaker 3: just feel like I'd be repeating all the stuff that
- 25:45Speaker 3: I liked about him coming out. I would just say
- 25:47Speaker 3: the only difference maybe is if he has a negative play,
- 25:51Speaker 3: I think he doesn't let it snowball maybe like he
- 25:54Speaker 3: did at times with the Jets early on in his career.
- 25:57Speaker 3: He's able to flush it get to the next play.
- 25:59Speaker 3: But quick release, quick eyes. He can use his legs
- 26:02Speaker 3: when he needs to. His skill set has never been
- 26:04Speaker 3: a question, and now it looks like you're marrying that
- 26:07Speaker 3: with the right scheme, the right personnel, the right play caller.
- 26:11Speaker 4: It's really interesting to see Sam Donald's re emergence as
- 26:17Speaker 4: a player that people like, particularly in the football world,
- 26:19Speaker 4: because there were so many high grades on him in
- 26:21Speaker 4: the twenty eighteen class third overall pick. And what it
- 26:25Speaker 4: does is it goes to show you the importance of
- 26:27Speaker 4: the pieces around the quarterback.
- 26:30Speaker 2: It's not only the play caller.
- 26:31Speaker 4: Kevin O'Connell, who's outstanding when it comes to quarterback play,
- 26:34Speaker 4: but it's the weapons. It's having a Justin Jefferson on
- 26:37Speaker 4: the outside. It's having some of the other pieces like
- 26:39Speaker 4: the running game Tyd Chandler and Aaron Jones being able
- 26:43Speaker 4: to kind of combind for well over one hundred yards.
- 26:45Speaker 4: It's being able to give confidence to the quarterback because
- 26:49Speaker 4: you know, hey man, you don't have to do everything.
- 26:51Speaker 2: Your job is just to be the distributor.
- 26:53Speaker 4: And maybe for the first time and Sam Donald's playing career,
- 26:57Speaker 4: he has been given.
- 26:59Speaker 2: Those luxuries while being the starting quarterback.
- 27:03Speaker 4: It does say a lot when you go back and
- 27:05Speaker 4: you look at the situations that he was previously in,
- 27:07Speaker 4: particularly in Carolina, where so much of the blame was
- 27:11Speaker 4: placed on him and.
- 27:12Speaker 2: It was kind of placed on Baker not being good enough.
- 27:14Speaker 4: Maybe we're seeing coaching matters, the support staff matters.
- 27:19Speaker 2: Quarterbacks need a.
- 27:20Speaker 4: Lot of things to play really well at the high level.
- 27:23Speaker 4: Sam Donald's kind of like an example of how if
- 27:26Speaker 4: you get the right things around the quarterback and you
- 27:28Speaker 4: have the right play caller whispering sweet, nothing's guy can
- 27:30Speaker 4: play at high level.
- 27:31Speaker 6: Play caller playmakers, right.
- 27:32Speaker 5: I mean we talked about that about, you know, justin Jefferson,
- 27:35Speaker 5: you know, taking that ninety seven yard touchdown connection a
- 27:38Speaker 5: lot of it. It was a deep throw, certainly from Darneld,
- 27:41Speaker 5: but still the catch and run there from Jefferson was
- 27:43Speaker 5: pretty impressive. I did want to look at things on
- 27:46Speaker 5: the offensive side of the ball for the San Francisco
- 27:49Speaker 5: forty nine ers.
- 27:50Speaker 6: Look they put up.
- 27:51Speaker 5: You know, they were production wized fine, four hundred and
- 27:54Speaker 5: seven total yards, but just thirty three of those four
- 27:58Speaker 5: hundred plus yards coming on third down, just a single
- 28:01Speaker 5: rushing yard of those thirty three coming on thre They
- 28:04Speaker 5: were two of ten on third down in this game,
- 28:07Speaker 5: converted one in the in the first quarter, not another
- 28:09Speaker 5: one until the fourth quarter. I think a lot of that. Basically,
- 28:12Speaker 5: you got to give some credit to what Brian Flores
- 28:14Speaker 5: is doing with that defense. Mixed up some really good
- 28:16Speaker 5: coverage looks. They had some man looks there that were
- 28:19Speaker 5: you know, the forty nine ers targets weren't able to
- 28:21Speaker 5: generate separation. Also some well timed zone packages that helped
- 28:25Speaker 5: take away the middle of the field that force brought
- 28:27Speaker 5: to hold the ball a little bit. One of those
- 28:29Speaker 5: inbreakers wanted that bender route a couple of times, just
- 28:32Speaker 5: couldn't get it, and then the pass rush eventually gets
- 28:35Speaker 5: to him here. So I mean, I think when you
- 28:36Speaker 5: look then at that defense in the framework of what
- 28:39Speaker 5: you know Equasi has done from an evaluation standpoint, in
- 28:43Speaker 5: front office standpoint, let's look at how they built this thing.
- 28:46Speaker 5: They had some pieces, certainly, but how about the free
- 28:48Speaker 5: agent acquisitions this year Jonathan Grenard big time, Andrew Van
- 28:51Speaker 5: Ginkel underrated, big time free agent acquisition for Brian.
- 28:55Speaker 6: Cashman, Like Cashman out there has done a nice job.
- 28:58Speaker 5: Gilmore coming in light to play a bunch of snaps
- 29:01Speaker 5: for him at corner, doing a really good job. And
- 29:03Speaker 5: then Dallas Turner who they take in the first round,
- 29:05Speaker 5: not just him Ivan Pace last year. And how about
- 29:08Speaker 5: Pat Jones the second from Pitt It was a third
- 29:12Speaker 5: round pick, and I'm he is coming on and really
- 29:15Speaker 5: flashing and becoming a major contributor on this defense.
- 29:18Speaker 6: Really solid in the run game, stood up.
- 29:20Speaker 5: George Kittle a couple of times in this game he
- 29:21Speaker 5: was in the backfield, closed down a run from the backside.
- 29:24Speaker 6: He had two of their five sacks.
- 29:26Speaker 2: DJ.
- 29:26Speaker 5: I mean like, I feel like he was a name.
- 29:28Speaker 5: We didn't talk about a ton. What did you have
- 29:30Speaker 5: in your report on Pat Jones?
- 29:32Speaker 3: Yeah, I just pulled up my notes on him. So
- 29:34Speaker 3: interesting player. Patrick Jones come out of pit. He was
- 29:37Speaker 3: six h four to two so and sixty one pounds.
- 29:40Speaker 3: He ran four nine to four at his pro day,
- 29:42Speaker 3: so not a great time in terms of the workout.
- 29:46Speaker 3: I had him as my one hundred and forty sixth player.
- 29:49Speaker 3: I dropped him after that workout, which is a great
- 29:52Speaker 3: lesson to learn there because he was a ninetieth pick
- 29:54Speaker 3: and he's been excellent. So here are the notes. They
- 29:56Speaker 3: love him at the school. He's ahead to the chest,
- 30:00Speaker 3: our player like he just would bury his head into
- 30:03Speaker 3: dudes and walk them straight back. Needed a little bit
- 30:05Speaker 3: of a runway, not a loose bendy athlete at the top,
- 30:08Speaker 3: but played with maniacal effort, with his hair on fire.
- 30:11Speaker 3: They move him up and down the line of scrimmage.
- 30:13Speaker 3: Had had a great was down there at the Senior Bowl,
- 30:17Speaker 3: had a great ten time. So again, that's a lesson, right.
- 30:20Speaker 3: I teach it every year. I preach it every year
- 30:22Speaker 3: at the combine throw out the forty. With these pass rushers,
- 30:24Speaker 3: it's just a ten that matters. But Buck, I feel
- 30:26Speaker 3: like when you go back and look at that card
- 30:28Speaker 3: as we like to call it on the board, and
- 30:30Speaker 3: you just see that four nine four, and I'm sitting
- 30:32Speaker 3: here looking at all these other pass rushes, all these
- 30:34Speaker 3: explosive numbers, and I'm sitting there going, well, maybe I
- 30:37Speaker 3: maybe I pull back a little bit on the grid.
- 30:38Speaker 3: That's a that's a good reminder that's a lesson learned
- 30:41Speaker 3: there not to do that in the future because he's
- 30:42Speaker 3: playing really well.
- 30:44Speaker 2: Yeah, playing really well.
- 30:45Speaker 4: And it is it is something we talked about, lessons
- 30:47Speaker 4: we learned and how you can get better. But DJ,
- 30:51Speaker 4: I feel like we've said it multiple times. Read too,
- 30:54Speaker 4: We've said it multiple times throughout this thing. Sometimes it's
- 30:56Speaker 4: just trusting to tape. It's trusting to tape, trusting with
- 30:59Speaker 4: your I s and then also hoping that the player
- 31:01Speaker 4: goes to the right spot, he's in the right environment
- 31:04Speaker 4: to fully flourish. And this league is is everything that
- 31:09Speaker 4: we talk about, like, is fun to watch the competitive
- 31:12Speaker 4: games is intriguing to watch the young players if they
- 31:15Speaker 4: land in the right spot. And it's also about the
- 31:17Speaker 4: reclamation projects, the guys that it doesn't work out initially,
- 31:20Speaker 4: but then it works out later because they find the
- 31:23Speaker 4: right spot.
- 31:24Speaker 2: Just so many lessons to be learned each and every weekend.
- 31:27Speaker 3: All right, let's let's get to the next game here
- 31:29Speaker 3: at Tampa Detroit. What was your takeaway there?
- 31:33Speaker 6: You no, I went in.
- 31:33Speaker 5: I was like, all right, let me see what's going
- 31:35Speaker 5: on this. You know, the Baker Mayfield phenomenon, right, the
- 31:38Speaker 5: resurgence in Tampa, you know, deserves a good hard look
- 31:41Speaker 5: and I just kind of felt like they held on
- 31:44Speaker 5: on offense. I mean it's nothing spectacular, certainly, and they
- 31:48Speaker 5: just kind of held it, you know, kind of held tough.
- 31:50Speaker 6: I think credit to the Bucks defense for sure, but
- 31:52Speaker 6: they made some plays. Certainly.
- 31:54Speaker 5: You've seen this one here to Godwin, and Baker's been
- 31:56Speaker 5: really good these his running. The way he ran the
- 31:58Speaker 5: football in this game was big. This this you know,
- 32:00Speaker 5: design QB draw for Baker Mayfield didn't know that Liam
- 32:04Speaker 5: Cohen had that one in the playbook, but obviously worked
- 32:06Speaker 5: out for him there. I think this ultimately just comes
- 32:09Speaker 5: down to, you know, the Lions made some serious mistakes
- 32:11Speaker 5: in this game. Look at that interception right there. You
- 32:14Speaker 5: know that felt like it was probably a little PI
- 32:16Speaker 5: at the top of the break, Jameson Williams gets kind
- 32:18Speaker 5: of bumped off his route. I you know, I'd like
- 32:20Speaker 5: to see him be a little bit more competitive at
- 32:22Speaker 5: the top there with the ball in the air. But
- 32:25Speaker 5: you know, that was an interception. And then the second
- 32:27Speaker 5: one for Golf was just a killer. It got some
- 32:29Speaker 5: interior pressure and just kind of throws it up for grabs.
- 32:33Speaker 5: Nobody home except for three Buccaneers defenders there. I think,
- 32:37Speaker 5: you know again this will come down to And Dan
- 32:39Speaker 5: Campbell comes out after the game and says, this game
- 32:41Speaker 5: is one hundred percent on me. Head coach cost our
- 32:43Speaker 5: team this game because of the miscommunication that happened at
- 32:46Speaker 5: the end.
- 32:47Speaker 6: Of the first half.
- 32:47Speaker 5: Buckying with your head coaching perspective here, you can kind
- 32:50Speaker 5: of give us a sense of what's going through the
- 32:52Speaker 5: mind of a head coach. Right, So they get the ball,
- 32:55Speaker 5: they have no time, they've used their last time out,
- 32:57Speaker 5: they're down in the red zone. Golf completes as del
- 33:00Speaker 5: Mona Saint Brown. They got seventeen seconds left. The clock
- 33:03Speaker 5: is running tick tick tick tick tick tick, and it's like, okay,
- 33:07Speaker 5: you got the field goal team coming in from the sideline.
- 33:10Speaker 5: But Golf is thinking he's trying to get up there
- 33:12Speaker 5: and spike it, but you got and so he spikes it.
- 33:14Speaker 5: Field goal team's trying to get off. They don't get
- 33:16Speaker 5: off in time. You got too many men on the field.
- 33:18Speaker 5: So what's going on in the headsets there at that point?
- 33:21Speaker 4: Yeah, it obviously sounds like it's one of those things
- 33:24Speaker 4: where if the head coach is indecisive, it's not communicated
- 33:28Speaker 4: quickly to the special teams coach and to the offensive coordinator,
- 33:31Speaker 4: what are the next steps? What's the plan of action?
- 33:34Speaker 4: And you would like to think it's something that's been rehearsed.
- 33:37Speaker 4: You know what the magic number is in terms of
- 33:39Speaker 4: how many seconds we need to be able to either
- 33:42Speaker 4: run the field, go team on the field, or what
- 33:45Speaker 4: is the plan? And so I appreciate Dan Campbell owning
- 33:50Speaker 4: it because some of those times as a head coach,
- 33:52Speaker 4: you have a lot that you're thinking about and sometimes
- 33:54Speaker 4: those scenarios, that situation may have been one that you
- 33:57Speaker 4: just forgot to either talk about, rehear or go through
- 34:01Speaker 4: with the players.
- 34:02Speaker 2: Uh.
- 34:02Speaker 4: It's an expensive learning lesson, but it's one that I
- 34:05Speaker 4: can guarantee you going forward, you will never have the
- 34:08Speaker 4: same kind of mistake.
- 34:09Speaker 3: At the end of mass right, I just love the
- 34:12Speaker 3: fact there was ownership there.
- 34:13Speaker 2: I mean, real quick.
- 34:14Speaker 3: Listen to listen to what he said after the game,
- 34:16Speaker 3: because this is this is what ownership looks like.
- 34:20Speaker 2: You know.
- 34:21Speaker 1: I asked for improvement from last week, was the story.
- 34:25Speaker 1: And we did improve, we did improve, and their coach
- 34:31Speaker 1: cost him. Their head coach cost him this one so.
- 34:37Speaker 2: Critical error in the half.
- 34:41Speaker 1: And uh me, we improved. There's areas we got to
- 34:45Speaker 1: continue to approve on. But it's not okay, there you go.
- 34:51Speaker 2: That's accountability.
- 34:52Speaker 3: That's why Dan Campbell's beloved by his players because he
- 34:55Speaker 3: owned it when it was when it was on him.
- 34:57Speaker 3: Last thought on this one is Chris god from Tampa
- 35:00Speaker 3: HTT talked about nothing really jumping out to me.
- 35:03Speaker 2: I just feel like he's just one of those underappreciated players.
- 35:05Speaker 3: Maybe it's just being in the shadow of Mike Evans,
- 35:07Speaker 3: but you watch him all the guy does.
- 35:09Speaker 2: He can play inside, he can play outside.
- 35:10Speaker 3: He's strong, he's physical, he's good after the catch, he's
- 35:13Speaker 3: competitive in the run game like just a really really
- 35:16Speaker 3: solid player. That is one of those shadow guys. I
- 35:19Speaker 3: just feel like he hasn't necessarily got his due. But
- 35:21Speaker 3: I remember when Tom Brady first got to Tampa, of
- 35:24Speaker 3: all the different players they had on that particular team,
- 35:26Speaker 3: Chris Godwin was the one that he would often mention
- 35:28Speaker 3: as someone who was just a pros pro and someone
- 35:30Speaker 3: that he felt comfortable with. So just want to give
- 35:33Speaker 3: Chris Godwin his flowers. Alright, guys, this probably was the
- 35:41Speaker 3: game most anticipated, maybe you know, the most intriguing matchup,
- 35:45Speaker 3: and it played out that way.
- 35:47Speaker 2: Cincinnati Bengals. Once again, they start zero to two.
- 35:50Speaker 3: They had every right and opportunity to win this ball game,
- 35:55Speaker 3: but just did not make the one play that needed
- 35:57Speaker 3: to be made. It was we'll start there, Buck, I
- 35:59Speaker 3: guess I can go with you first. It is past interference.
- 36:02Speaker 3: People lose their minds about it. Chiefs have won back
- 36:04Speaker 3: to back Super Bowls three out of four. I get
- 36:06Speaker 3: all that that was a legit penalty. This was a
- 36:09Speaker 3: game the Bengals had to win, had it right in
- 36:10Speaker 3: front of them, just didn't finish.
- 36:12Speaker 2: Yeah, you gotta finish the game.
- 36:14Speaker 4: And I mean in the odds when you turn the
- 36:17Speaker 4: ball over three times, it's really hard to win it
- 36:19Speaker 4: this league. And this was a game that was right
- 36:21Speaker 4: there or set upon a platter for the Bengals to
- 36:23Speaker 4: take advantage of it, and they didn't. And it's one
- 36:25Speaker 4: of those things that we'll look back at the end
- 36:27Speaker 4: of the year, whether they get into postseason or not,
- 36:30Speaker 4: or if they were what seed they earned.
- 36:32Speaker 2: They're gonna regret giving this one away.
- 36:34Speaker 4: But if you're the Kansaity Chiefs, I just liken it
- 36:37Speaker 4: to Andy Reid and the Chiefs have mastered the art
- 36:41Speaker 4: of winning. There is something about when you win games
- 36:44Speaker 4: and you're used to winning, it just continues to kind
- 36:47Speaker 4: of build that confidence or that know how to get
- 36:50Speaker 4: it done. And that's what I see when I look
- 36:52Speaker 4: at the Kancity Chiefs. No matter the situation and that circumstance,
- 36:55Speaker 4: they have enough in that that that bank, that mental
- 36:59Speaker 4: bank of how to win, and they get it done.
- 37:01Speaker 4: And it's gonna be hard to knock them out because
- 37:03Speaker 4: the two time champs just continue to find ways to
- 37:06Speaker 4: win games.
- 37:08Speaker 5: I think I look at a cause and effect in
- 37:10Speaker 5: this one. DJ Bucky, I get your your thoughts on this, guys.
- 37:13Speaker 5: I think we started to see the armor come off
- 37:15Speaker 5: of the rookie left tackle Kingsley Suamatia in this game
- 37:19Speaker 5: against Yeah, I got bench late in the game one
- 37:21Speaker 5: Ye Morris had to come in and Morris, I mean
- 37:23Speaker 5: almost helped him lose the game, negated a you know,
- 37:26Speaker 5: a twenty one yard catch by Rashid Rice with illegal
- 37:29Speaker 5: hands to the face, little tikie tacky. But can't can't
- 37:31Speaker 5: put yourself in a position like that late in the
- 37:33Speaker 5: game when you're trying to go down there and win it.
- 37:36Speaker 5: And eventually they did get bailed out by the p
- 37:38Speaker 5: I on the Bengal side of things that allow for
- 37:40Speaker 5: the Bucker game winner. But Trey Hendrickson, you know, thirty
- 37:43Speaker 5: two percent pressure rate this week, highest in the league,
- 37:47Speaker 5: and he leads the league through two weeks. So it's
- 37:49Speaker 5: not just Kingsley that's a dang good player out there
- 37:51Speaker 5: on that edge for But he had his way with
- 37:54Speaker 5: Kingsley Suamati in this game at two sacks coming off
- 37:57Speaker 5: that edge and you know, obviously forced the line up
- 38:00Speaker 5: change there. But here's the thing, like the cause and
- 38:02Speaker 5: effect part, right, either Andy Reid and companies saw something
- 38:06Speaker 5: in this Bengals defense that they wanted to run the
- 38:08Speaker 5: football or they did not want to subject Kingsley to
- 38:10Speaker 5: any further issues with Trey Hendrickson and subject Patrick Mahomes
- 38:14Speaker 5: any further its because they ran the ball very well
- 38:16Speaker 5: in this game all the way up until the point
- 38:17Speaker 5: where Isaiah Pacheco left the game with what is now
- 38:20Speaker 5: known as a you know, fractured ankle, going to be
- 38:22Speaker 5: out six to eight weeks.
- 38:23Speaker 6: He had nineteen carries in this game for ninety yards.
- 38:25Speaker 5: Carson Steel had seven carries in this game and was
- 38:28Speaker 5: getting some big carries late in the game to try
- 38:30Speaker 5: to ice this thing. So, you know, I think that
- 38:35Speaker 5: part of it DJ probably goes hand in hand with
- 38:37Speaker 5: how we saw the Chiefs operate. Because anytime you're seeing
- 38:40Speaker 5: you know, Travis Kelcey get three targets in a game
- 38:42Speaker 5: and only one catch, you know that they were doing
- 38:45Speaker 5: some things on the ground or trying to minimize some
- 38:47Speaker 5: things through the air.
- 38:49Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 38:49Speaker 3: Look, I'm not in the camp that's surprised that Kingsley
- 38:52Speaker 3: Suamtea is having difficulties.
- 38:55Speaker 2: I thought he was a project, you know. That's why
- 38:56Speaker 2: I was a little bit surprised he went as high
- 38:58Speaker 2: as he did.
- 38:59Speaker 3: He was my one hundred and first player, so I
- 39:03Speaker 3: he was my fourteenth tackle in the draft and now
- 39:06Speaker 3: the he looks great on paper with six ozho four
- 39:08Speaker 3: five three twenty six, he's got thirty four and change arms.
- 39:11Speaker 3: He ran a five oh four to forty. He is
- 39:14Speaker 3: you know, he's very quick footed. Going through my notes,
- 39:16Speaker 3: he's thick, he's proportioned, he's got quicks going to the
- 39:18Speaker 3: second level. He's pretty good in space. He just ducks
- 39:21Speaker 3: his head a lot at the point of attack, and
- 39:23Speaker 3: his hands are very poor. Like there was a lot
- 39:26Speaker 3: of work that needs to be done with his hands,
- 39:28Speaker 3: so you know they're going to try and work on
- 39:30Speaker 3: that and try and fix that the best they can.
- 39:32Speaker 3: But I thought it was pretty It showed you how
- 39:35Speaker 3: important that game was to them, that they hooked him,
- 39:39Speaker 3: you know, as someone who they had put their trust in,
- 39:41Speaker 3: you know, right out to shoot that they weren't going
- 39:43Speaker 3: to watch that horror show anymore with with the struggles
- 39:46Speaker 3: he was having against Trey Hendrickson. So interesting from that standpoint.
- 39:49Speaker 3: On the other side, Cincinnati Buck, they I believe they're
- 39:52Speaker 3: one in nine in their first two games of the
- 39:54Speaker 3: season since Joe Burrow's been there. Like they just have
- 39:57Speaker 3: this way of just kind of starting out low before
- 40:01Speaker 3: they find their footing and they'll then they'll get it going.
- 40:04Speaker 3: But they're not whole right now roster wise, or not
- 40:06Speaker 3: totally healthy. Offensively, Chases Gollie. He very frustrated. That was
- 40:10Speaker 3: a costly penalty in that game. He's got to get
- 40:13Speaker 3: his emotions under check a little bit. But you'll see
- 40:15Speaker 3: Vosh having a good game for them. I guess I
- 40:20Speaker 3: say this because I've seen it in the past. I
- 40:21Speaker 3: don't really worry about them. I think they're going to
- 40:23Speaker 3: be fine. I think they're going to be Okay, that's
- 40:25Speaker 3: the defending champ. They didn't play their best and should
- 40:28Speaker 3: have won the game.
- 40:29Speaker 2: Yeah, you know what's interesting about that.
- 40:31Speaker 4: You talk about the slow stars and how what one
- 40:33Speaker 4: and nine and the Joe Burrow era, and we always
- 40:37Speaker 4: talk about AH to two start being a death sentence,
- 40:39Speaker 4: but when you really think about it, I mean, you
- 40:41Speaker 4: have seventeen games. There's plenty of opportunity for the schedule
- 40:44Speaker 4: to kind of come back to you where you have
- 40:46Speaker 4: an opportunity to close ground and do those things I
- 40:49Speaker 4: do want to win. You're Zach Taylor and the approach
- 40:51Speaker 4: that they have taken throughout the preseason where they don't
- 40:55Speaker 4: really play their guys. They're not really physical, and we
- 40:57Speaker 4: have talked about the Kan City Chiefs who jump out
- 40:59Speaker 4: on people because they do play there guys.
- 41:02Speaker 2: You would like to start out faster, but you do
- 41:04Speaker 2: know as a marathon not a sprint. It just kind of.
- 41:07Speaker 4: Cuts some of the cushion that the Bengals have in
- 41:09Speaker 4: terms of having a couple of hiccups later in the year.
- 41:12Speaker 2: They're gonna have to be playing their best.
- 41:13Speaker 4: Once we get into the muss of November December to
- 41:16Speaker 4: be able to kind of secure a playoff berth and
- 41:18Speaker 4: to be one of the teams that we thought it
- 41:20Speaker 4: would be, which would be.
- 41:20Speaker 2: A top team.
- 41:22Speaker 3: It's a team that when you get over to the
- 41:25Speaker 3: Kansas City side of things, is going to be without
- 41:27Speaker 3: Isaiah Pacheco.
- 41:28Speaker 2: I'd believe was six to eight weeks coming off of
- 41:29Speaker 2: surgery coming out of that game.
- 41:31Speaker 3: So gonna be a little more steel action there for
- 41:34Speaker 3: the Kansas City chiefsrtt. Let's get to the next one here.
- 41:37Speaker 3: Maybe one of the big surprises of the day Vegas
- 41:40Speaker 3: going on the road. They lose to Jim Harbaugh and
- 41:43Speaker 3: they go on the road and they beat John Harball,
- 41:45Speaker 3: which puts the Ravens at zero to two for the
- 41:47Speaker 3: first time since twenty fifteen.
- 41:49Speaker 6: Yeah, I don't know.
- 41:52Speaker 5: I think the guy that you're going to talk about
- 41:54Speaker 5: here in a minute, Brock Bauers at a big, big,
- 41:56Speaker 5: big say in the Raiders comeback effort there in the
- 41:58Speaker 5: fourth quarter in this game, at four straight scoring drives
- 42:01Speaker 5: to end the game.
- 42:02Speaker 6: That's winning football right there if the Las Vegas Raiders.
- 42:04Speaker 5: Now for the Ravens, I kind of looked at that side,
- 42:06Speaker 5: what do we see him with this, you know, Baltimore offense,
- 42:09Speaker 5: what do we see?
- 42:10Speaker 6: This is I think what they want to look like.
- 42:12Speaker 5: I mean, had twenty seven attempts on the ground, went
- 42:15Speaker 5: for five yards of carry. I mean Lamar was I
- 42:17Speaker 5: think five carries forty five yards is about right what
- 42:20Speaker 5: you want to see from him. And I think ultimately
- 42:23Speaker 5: this comes down to an interception, a turnover that you know,
- 42:28Speaker 5: Rashad Bateman probably should have caught for the Ravens. Tough catch,
- 42:31Speaker 5: but it goes right into the arms of robertsplane and
- 42:34Speaker 5: so they turn it over that way. They made some
- 42:37Speaker 5: you know, they had a real hard time converting third
- 42:39Speaker 5: downs in the fourth quarter and extending drives and staying
- 42:41Speaker 5: on the field to try to put this game out
- 42:43Speaker 5: of reach. And so I went back and looked at
- 42:44Speaker 5: what happened on the early downs to force those third
- 42:46Speaker 5: down situations, and they had some critical errors on two
- 42:49Speaker 5: drives that ended in three and outs. They had a
- 42:51Speaker 5: second down where essentially like a read option with Lamar
- 42:55Speaker 5: he pulls it, he's about to take it, and Mark
- 42:58Speaker 5: Andrews has a one on one block.
- 42:59Speaker 6: With looks like a corner and just kind of whiffs it.
- 43:02Speaker 5: Or there was maybe some miscommunication about what was happening,
- 43:05Speaker 5: and that corner just has an easy layup to bring
- 43:08Speaker 5: Lamar down right there, and so they're in a third,
- 43:10Speaker 5: you know, a third down situation. They don't get next
- 43:12Speaker 5: one right guard completely misses Crosby on a stunt and
- 43:16Speaker 5: Crosby just smashes Lamar for a second sack of the game.
- 43:20Speaker 5: You just kind of can't have those on those early
- 43:22Speaker 5: second downs, on those critical drives in the fourth quarter
- 43:25Speaker 5: where you're trying to run the ball out and they
- 43:26Speaker 5: didn't convert on third and thus giving the Raiders an
- 43:29Speaker 5: opportunity to go find brock Bauers there d DJ.
- 43:33Speaker 3: Yeah, Bowers was awesome this second week in a row.
- 43:35Speaker 3: And Buck I don't think that it was an exaggeration
- 43:38Speaker 3: when I said it at the time. I thought he'd
- 43:39Speaker 3: be their best offensive weapon this year. You're seeing it
- 43:42Speaker 3: through a couple of games, his speed, his ability to
- 43:44Speaker 3: line up all over the field. They've run a nice
- 43:47Speaker 3: little seven man protection, you know, getting just a couple
- 43:49Speaker 3: guys out in the route so they give menshoot time.
- 43:52Speaker 3: They're able to get kind of that little wineback going
- 43:55Speaker 3: backside off of a boot.
- 43:56Speaker 2: They've hit that two weeks in a row.
- 43:58Speaker 3: Hit it against the Chargers, hit it against the Ravens,
- 44:00Speaker 3: getting Brock Bowers to ball in space, and for a
- 44:02Speaker 3: team that doesn't have a ton, He's already proving himself
- 44:07Speaker 3: to be a good selection there for Tom Tellusca with
- 44:10Speaker 3: his first pick as the Raiders GM, yeah, he has.
- 44:12Speaker 4: Proven to be a really good pick. And you can't
- 44:14Speaker 4: go wrong with those offensive weapons. When you talk about
- 44:17Speaker 4: a guy like Brock Borroughs who can do so many
- 44:19Speaker 4: different things, and you know, the tied end position is
- 44:22Speaker 4: one that is really tricky to scout and evaluate.
- 44:25Speaker 2: But the things that we have found as those guys
- 44:27Speaker 2: who are hyperds.
- 44:28Speaker 4: On the perimeter who can do a lot lineup outside,
- 44:31Speaker 4: lineup inside, play the traditional white or the flex while
- 44:35Speaker 4: also taking the ball on handoffs, you can have a
- 44:37Speaker 4: lot of success and a lot of fun with those
- 44:39Speaker 4: and so I am not surprised to see the Raiders
- 44:41Speaker 4: have success with him.
- 44:43Speaker 2: Kind of as the focal point of the passing game.
- 44:45Speaker 4: I'm looking forward to seeing them expand their multi tied
- 44:49Speaker 4: end packages and do some fun stuff to really make
- 44:51Speaker 4: the tied end the primary option in their passing game.
- 44:56Speaker 3: That's a big win. That's a big win for the
- 44:58Speaker 3: Raiders going on the road and knocking off the Ravens.
- 45:01Speaker 3: Buck you were there for the clash of the Clemson quarterbacks.
- 45:05Speaker 3: Trevor Lawrence, Deshaun Watson. Look, this is a game that
- 45:09Speaker 3: I think you can make a case both teams feel
- 45:12Speaker 3: like you got to have this one. Your Jags don't
- 45:16Speaker 3: come away with the Trevor Lawrence. Oh, and seven is
- 45:18Speaker 3: last starts. At last seven starts. You see that little
- 45:21Speaker 3: nug on the screen there. Let's start first of all, there,
- 45:24Speaker 3: what the heck is wrong with your Jags?
- 45:27Speaker 4: Dj I would equate it to a baseball player, a
- 45:31Speaker 4: hitter being in a bad slump where you are out
- 45:35Speaker 4: at your last twenty two at bats. But we know
- 45:38Speaker 4: in life there's no such thing as momentum in terms
- 45:41Speaker 4: of every interval at bat is a different experience, and
- 45:44Speaker 4: so every game for the Jags is a different experience.
- 45:47Speaker 4: But there feels like this heavy thing hanging over top
- 45:51Speaker 4: of them because of the way they finished last season
- 45:54Speaker 4: and the way that they lost in Week one, And
- 45:56Speaker 4: so when you're on the sideline, you see a team
- 45:58Speaker 4: that doesn't have that same confidence and swagger as you
- 46:01Speaker 4: would think early in the year because most teams look
- 46:04Speaker 4: their teams to start oh and one, but then week
- 46:05Speaker 4: two you bounced right back, but it seemed like there
- 46:08Speaker 4: was more weighing them down than just a and oh
- 46:11Speaker 4: and one start where you kind of fell apart in
- 46:13Speaker 4: the fourth quarter. This is a team that really needs
- 46:16Speaker 4: their stars to play like stars, and Trevor Lawrence obviously
- 46:19Speaker 4: is the biggest star. I will say, Trevor lawrence evolution
- 46:23Speaker 4: and maturation as a leader came out. I saw him
- 46:27Speaker 4: verbally chastise his teammates and encourage them. Hey man, we
- 46:30Speaker 4: got to get the communication right because there's so many
- 46:33Speaker 4: pre snap penalties and little things.
- 46:35Speaker 2: That should be cleaned up by now.
- 46:37Speaker 4: Trevor Lawrence spoke out about that, and as he continues
- 46:39Speaker 4: to kind of grow into his role as the leader
- 46:42Speaker 4: of the team, he has to check people like that.
- 46:45Speaker 2: They're struggling right now. Offensively.
- 46:47Speaker 4: Defensively they're playing pretty well, but right now, Trevor Lawrence
- 46:50Speaker 4: in this offense, they got to get going and he
- 46:53Speaker 4: needs his best players Christian Kirk, Evan Ingram, Travis Cittienn
- 46:57Speaker 4: to help him. Because I will say this, when you
- 46:59Speaker 4: see the CA that's Brian Thomas Junior that he made
- 47:01Speaker 4: on Denzel Award down the field. DJ, the replay doesn't
- 47:05Speaker 4: give it justice because you watched it field level. When
- 47:08Speaker 4: you're looking at wide receivers, you always are trying to
- 47:10Speaker 4: look at how they accelerate when the ball is in
- 47:13Speaker 4: the air. This gear that BTJ has is remarkable. He
- 47:17Speaker 4: has the potential to be really special in this league.
- 47:21Speaker 4: He has just scratched the surface on how good he
- 47:23Speaker 4: can be as a wide receiver.
- 47:24Speaker 2: One.
- 47:26Speaker 6: I kept watching that one.
- 47:27Speaker 5: In fact, Bucky, I was like that the adjustment to
- 47:30Speaker 5: that ball, just the way that that thing, I mean,
- 47:32Speaker 5: that thing was, I mean was humming, and that was
- 47:36Speaker 5: really impressive.
- 47:37Speaker 2: You know what.
- 47:38Speaker 5: I think a lot of times when we see games
- 47:39Speaker 5: like this, the team puts up thirteen points, like, ah,
- 47:42Speaker 5: you know, no explosive plays, They're just thinking and dunking.
- 47:45Speaker 6: It all over the place.
- 47:47Speaker 5: They had five explosive plays that accounted for one hundred
- 47:50Speaker 5: and seventy two yards of their passing offense in this game,
- 47:54Speaker 5: and so you take those out and outside of those plays,
- 47:57Speaker 5: DJ treumbor Lawrence.
- 47:58Speaker 6: Is nine of twenty six about forty yards. So it's
- 48:02Speaker 6: like the opposite right, Like.
- 48:04Speaker 5: They couldn't figure out maybe the layups is kind of
- 48:06Speaker 5: what it felt like in this one. So I mean, like, yeah,
- 48:09Speaker 5: they had the big plays, but they got to make
- 48:11Speaker 5: the routine ones too, no doubt and quickly on Deshaun,
- 48:15Speaker 5: much better game for him. Buck and I were talking
- 48:18Speaker 5: before we got started here today about looked like he
- 48:20Speaker 5: found a little bit of the swagger that had been missing.
- 48:23Speaker 2: So that's interesting to see.
- 48:24Speaker 3: Also, you know, mechanical stuff that I mentioned last week
- 48:27Speaker 3: about sinking a little too much, sinking into throws and
- 48:30Speaker 3: not being up up a little more upright, not getting
- 48:34Speaker 3: so low and crouched and kind of losing losing his
- 48:38Speaker 3: balance so to speak, that was a little bit better
- 48:41Speaker 3: this week as well. So good for good for the
- 48:43Speaker 3: Cleveland Brown's a good win for them over the Jacks.
- 48:46Speaker 3: Last game here, Buck Washington and the New York Giants,
- 48:51Speaker 3: the Giants stumble, Jayden Daniels gets his first win. A
- 48:54Speaker 3: very quick, efficient game from him going through that tape,
- 48:58Speaker 3: a chance to see him just get the ball out
- 49:00Speaker 3: of his hands, get it where it needs to go,
- 49:01Speaker 3: let guys run after the catch.
- 49:02Speaker 2: I thought, Cliff.
- 49:03Speaker 3: Kingsbury, someone who does understand the quick game, the screen game,
- 49:06Speaker 3: you know, think about his background and where he came
- 49:08Speaker 3: from with Mike Leach did a nice job of that.
- 49:12Speaker 3: And I also thought, you know, he took sacks, but
- 49:15Speaker 3: you know, sometimes I feel like sacks we view as negatives.
- 49:18Speaker 3: And obviously as a veteran, you throw the ball away,
- 49:21Speaker 3: but I'll take sacks over forces over forcing.
- 49:23Speaker 2: Ball into harm's way. He avoided that. He did avoid that.
- 49:26Speaker 4: And you know the other thing that I like about
- 49:28Speaker 4: Jon Daniels, I like the way they utilized his running
- 49:31Speaker 4: ability we saw in the clip, like just kind of
- 49:34Speaker 4: the way they were able to pull it and have
- 49:35Speaker 4: a little escort.
- 49:36Speaker 2: Coming around the corner and doing some of those things.
- 49:38Speaker 4: I also like the poise and him getting his first game,
- 49:42Speaker 4: I guess game winning victory or whatever you want to
- 49:45Speaker 4: call it.
- 49:45Speaker 2: But they need to score touchdowns. They can't keep selling
- 49:48Speaker 2: for field goals, but to be able to.
- 49:51Speaker 4: Win again against the division rival. As a young quarterback
- 49:54Speaker 4: in your second start, you have to like that. Dan
- 49:56Speaker 4: Winn certainly has plenty to build upon, but he has
- 50:00Speaker 4: alike where his young quarterback, how is young quarterback is progressive?
- 50:03Speaker 5: I just got one thing on this one, and it
- 50:06Speaker 5: was the quote from Dan Quinn after what this team's
- 50:10Speaker 5: been through.
- 50:10Speaker 6: I'm not about making field goals, and they.
- 50:13Speaker 5: Made seven, so I would agree, you know you gonna
- 50:18Speaker 5: get your first win of the season.
- 50:19Speaker 6: I'd kick seventeen field goals if that's what it took.
- 50:21Speaker 5: And so credit to Austin Cyber for making seven field
- 50:26Speaker 5: goals like that is incredible and obviously you'd like to
- 50:29Speaker 5: turn some of those into touchdowns, but I thought that
- 50:31Speaker 5: was pretty cool.
- 50:33Speaker 3: Well, I will add this to finish it up with
- 50:35Speaker 3: the Giants. Make sure that I get the number right here,
- 50:37Speaker 3: because I was going for the tape. It jumped out
- 50:39Speaker 3: to me. I mentioned the Panthers and the bewilderment of
- 50:43Speaker 3: having traded up to get xavierly Get and then not
- 50:47Speaker 3: throwing him one target in that game. Hey, the Giants
- 50:51Speaker 3: know they've got one in elite neighbors and they're not
- 50:53Speaker 3: affair to wear him out.
- 50:54Speaker 2: Eighteen targets eighteen.
- 50:57Speaker 3: Ten for a buck twenty seven and the speed is real,
- 51:00Speaker 3: the shallow crossers getting in out of breaks. He is dynamic,
- 51:04Speaker 3: he is going to be fun. So for a team
- 51:06Speaker 3: that desperately needed a guy like this, he's just what
- 51:08Speaker 3: the doctor ordered and didn't result in the win. But
- 51:11Speaker 3: I applaud them for feeding him the rock, something that
- 51:14Speaker 3: you know, some of these other teams got to figure out.
- 51:16Speaker 3: You got your best players, your best athletes, give him
- 51:18Speaker 3: the ball, give him a chance. And that's what Brian
- 51:21Speaker 3: Daball did with Malik Neighbors. All Right, that was a
- 51:24Speaker 3: jam packed show, went through a zillion games. It was
- 51:26Speaker 3: a fun weekend Week two. Looking forward to the rest
- 51:29Speaker 3: of the week, we got some great guests coming up
- 51:31Speaker 3: on the show. I will leave those for you to
- 51:33Speaker 3: figure out, but it's college football related.
- 51:35Speaker 2: You're gonna enjoy it. Fun week here at Moon to six.
- 51:37Speaker 2: We'll see you next time.
- 52:00Speaker 4: Yeah,
