- 0:13Speaker 1: Compositions of Guru Gobin Singh introduction to the Hindu incantations
- 0:21Speaker 1: here follow in the tenth Guru's groanth translations and abridgments
- 0:27Speaker 1: of tales from the Purans on the twenty four Hindu incarnations.
- 0:34Speaker 1: The following is the Guru's introduction to them, O God,
- 0:38Speaker 1: Thou art the creator and the destroyer. Thou kelest and
- 0:42Speaker 1: puttest the blame on the heads of others. Thou dwellest apart,
- 0:46Speaker 1: and none can find THEE. Wherefore thou art called the
- 0:50Speaker 1: endless one. They who are called the twenty four incarnations
- 0:55Speaker 1: have not found even a trace of THEE. O God.
- 0:58Speaker 1: On seeing thy saints distressed, thou becomest uneasy, wherefore thou
- 1:07Speaker 1: art styled the kinsmen of the poor. At last, thou
- 1:11Speaker 1: shalt destroy the whole world. Wherefore the world calleth THEE death.
- 1:17Speaker 1: Thou aidest all the saints as occasion requireth wherefore they
- 1:23Speaker 1: call THEE their helper. On beholding the poor, thou art
- 1:27Speaker 1: compassionate to them. So we deem THEE the friend of
- 1:31Speaker 1: the poor. Since thou sheddest the juice of favor on
- 1:35Speaker 1: the saints, the world calleth Thee the ocean of favor.
- 1:40Speaker 1: Thou ever removest the troubles of the saints, Wherefore thou
- 1:45Speaker 1: hast obtained the name of the Remover of trouble. Thou
- 1:49Speaker 1: hast come to dispel the sorrows of the saints, wherefore
- 1:52Speaker 1: o God thou Art called the dispeller of sorrows. Thou
- 1:58Speaker 1: remainest endless, that end cannot be found, wherefore thou hast
- 2:03Speaker 1: obtained the name of the endless. Want thoust to point
- 2:07Speaker 1: the forms of all things in the world, wherefore thou
- 2:12Speaker 1: Art called the Creator. No one hath ever seen Thee anywhere,
- 2:18Speaker 1: wherefore thou Art called the unseen. Thou wert never born
- 2:24Speaker 1: in this world. Wherefore everyone describeth THEE as unborn. Rama
- 2:31Speaker 1: and the rest all grow weary of searching for thine origin.
- 2:36Speaker 1: Vishnu and she what are the wretched beings? After consideration
- 2:41Speaker 1: and deliberation, God made the moon and sun, wherefore he
- 2:46Speaker 1: is known as the Creator. Ever without a garb, he
- 2:52Speaker 1: remaineth without a garb, Wherefore the world calleth him the garbless.
- 2:58Speaker 1: Invisible is his form. No one knoweth him. On this account,
- 3:03Speaker 1: he is called the unseen. His form is incomparable and unequaled.
- 3:08Speaker 1: He hath no concern with garbs or no garbs. He
- 3:13Speaker 1: bestoweth on all, but begeth from none. Wherefore he is
- 3:17Speaker 1: recognized as the provider. He is not concerned with celestial
- 3:24Speaker 1: appearances or omens. This fact is known to the whole world.
- 3:29Speaker 1: He is not appeased by incantations written or spoken, or
- 3:34Speaker 1: by charms. No one hath found him by adopting a garb.
- 3:38Speaker 1: Men are entangled with their own affairs. No one knoweth
- 3:42Speaker 1: the Supreme God. Some Hindus go to places of cremation,
- 3:48Speaker 1: others Mussulmans to cemeteries. But God is that neither they
- 3:53Speaker 1: who visit either are ruined by worldly love and contention,
- 3:58Speaker 1: and the Lord remaineth separate from them. What is a
- 4:02Speaker 1: Hindu or a Mussulman to him from whose heart doubt departed?
- 4:07Speaker 1: The Mohammedans use tas bs, the Hindus malas. The former
- 4:13Speaker 1: read the Koran, and the latter the Purans fools have
- 4:18Speaker 1: died over the discussion. They were not imbued with God's
- 4:22Speaker 1: deep love They who are imbued with love for the
- 4:26Speaker 1: One God disregard human opinion and are happy. They who
- 4:32Speaker 1: recognize the primal Being as the one God allow no
- 4:37Speaker 1: other belief to enter their hearts. They who cherish any
- 4:43Speaker 1: other belief shall be debarred from meeting the Friend. He
- 4:48Speaker 1: who knoweth the One's supreme being, even a little knoweth
- 4:52Speaker 1: the real thing. All the yogis and sanyasis, the multitudes
- 4:58Speaker 1: of shaven heads and mussulmans, have plundered the world by
- 5:02Speaker 1: their garbs. The holy men, whose support is God's name,
- 5:09Speaker 1: remain unknown. The unholy practiced hypocrisy for the sake of
- 5:15Speaker 1: their bellies. Without hypocrisy, they can obtain not. The men
- 5:20Speaker 1: who meditate on the One Being never practice hypocrisy on anyone.
- 5:26Speaker 1: Without hypocrisy, they would obtain nothing, for no one would
- 5:31Speaker 1: bow before any of them, if no one had a belly,
- 5:36Speaker 1: Who would describe anyone as rich or poor? They who
- 5:40Speaker 1: have concluded that God is one never practice hypocrisy on anyone.
- 5:47Speaker 1: They give their heads, but abandon not their determination. They
- 5:51Speaker 1: regard their bodies as nothing. Men who split their ears
- 5:55Speaker 1: are called yogis. With great deceit. They betake them so
- 6:00Speaker 1: to the forest. They who know not the virtue of
- 6:05Speaker 1: the One name, belong neither to the forest nor to
- 6:08Speaker 1: the household. In the beginning, God was the father of
- 6:12Speaker 1: the whole world. From him light first proceeded. I have
- 6:18Speaker 1: not sufficient ability to tell the tale, or to mention
- 6:22Speaker 1: the names of the different creatures he created. Things strong
- 6:27Speaker 1: and weak were produced, things high and low were shown separately.
- 6:33Speaker 1: The primal light, which is called the One God, he
- 6:36Speaker 1: at last infused into all his creatures. Know that the
- 6:42Speaker 1: light of the One God is in all the souls
- 6:45Speaker 1: which are in this world. The whole world shall be
- 6:49Speaker 1: blended with God, who is described as cowl roup whatever
- 6:55Speaker 1: is visible and perceptible by the senses. Man considerateth maya.
- 7:02Speaker 1: The One God is contained in all things. But he
- 7:05Speaker 1: established them all separately, and he pervadeth them all unseen.
- 7:12Speaker 1: He will call them all separately to account. They who
- 7:16Speaker 1: have considered him as one have obtained the real thing.
- 7:21Speaker 1: The form of the One God is unequaled. He is
- 7:24Speaker 1: sometimes poor, sometimes a prince or a king. He hath
- 7:30Speaker 1: given to all men their several entanglements. He is separate
- 7:33Speaker 1: from them, and none of them hath found him. He
- 7:39Speaker 1: created all things separately and will destroy them all separately.
- 7:45Speaker 1: God excepteth not censure from anyone. It is he who
- 7:49Speaker 1: casteth censure on others. We now give the Guru's remarks
- 7:55Speaker 1: on the translations and abridgments of the stories of the
- 7:59Speaker 1: Hindu incarnations Ram Avatar. Since I have embraced thy feet,
- 8:06Speaker 1: I have paid regard to none besides the Kharans of Ram,
- 8:11Speaker 1: the God of the Hindus, and the Koran of Raheem,
- 8:15Speaker 1: the God of the Mussulmans. Express various opinions, but I
- 8:19Speaker 1: accept none of them. The Simritis, the Shastars, and the
- 8:25Speaker 1: vEDS all expound many different doctrines, but I accept none
- 8:31Speaker 1: of them. Oh, Holy God, by thy favor, it is
- 8:35Speaker 1: not I who have been speaking. All that have been
- 8:39Speaker 1: said have been said by thee. Forsaking all other doors,
- 8:45Speaker 1: I have clung to Thine. It is to Thine honor
- 8:49Speaker 1: to protect me. Whose arm thou hast grasped, gobnd is
- 8:54Speaker 1: thy slave Krishan Avatar. Do not at the outset propitiate Ganesh.
- 9:04Speaker 1: I never meditate on Krishan or Vishnu. I have heard
- 9:10Speaker 1: of them, but I know them not. It is only
- 9:13Speaker 1: God's feet I love great death be thou my protector
- 9:18Speaker 1: all steel. I am thy slave, deeming me thine own.
- 9:23Speaker 1: Preserve me, Think of mine honor whose arm thou hast taken,
- 9:28Speaker 1: Deeming me thine own. Cherish me, single out and destroy
- 9:33Speaker 1: mine enemies. May both my kitchen and my sword prevail
- 9:37Speaker 1: in the world. Preserve me and let none trample on me.
- 9:42Speaker 1: Be thou ever my cherisher. Thou art the lord. I
- 9:47Speaker 1: am thy slave, deeming me thine own. Be gracious unto me,
- 9:51Speaker 1: perform everything for me thyself. Thou art the king of kings.
- 9:57Speaker 1: It is thou alone who cherishest the poor, deeming me
- 10:03Speaker 1: thy slave. Bestow thy favor on me. I have arrived
- 10:07Speaker 1: and am lying weary at thy door. Thou art my Lord.
- 10:11Speaker 1: I am thy slave, deeming me thy slave. Reach me
- 10:14Speaker 1: thy hand and save me, destroy all mine enemies. They
- 10:21Speaker 1: who loved not God, while performing great penance, who endured
- 10:25Speaker 1: self torment excessively heated their bodies, went to Banarus and
- 10:31Speaker 1: read the beds very many times, obtained not the real thing.
- 10:37Speaker 1: They gave alms so that vishnut might come into their power,
- 10:41Speaker 1: but they lost all their wealth. They who loved God
- 10:46Speaker 1: with hearty affection found him what availth it. If a
- 10:52Speaker 1: crane sit closing his eyes and displaying a religious garb
- 10:57Speaker 1: to the world. If men ever go about bathing in
- 11:04Speaker 1: water like a fish, how shall he obtain possession of God?
- 11:10Speaker 1: If man croak day and night like a frog, and
- 11:13Speaker 1: fly like a bird, how shall he obtain possession of God?
- 11:19Speaker 1: Siam and all these saints say, hath anyone without love
- 11:25Speaker 1: pleased God? Of those who, through greed of wealth, continued
- 11:30Speaker 1: to loudly sing and recite God's praises, and who danced
- 11:35Speaker 1: but gave not their hearts, thereto have any found the
- 11:38Speaker 1: way to God's wonderful world? They excited laughter in the
- 11:43Speaker 1: world and knew not the essence of wisdom even in
- 11:47Speaker 1: their dreams. The poet Siam asketh if God hath been
- 11:51Speaker 1: obtained by anyone without love? Several meditated in the forest
- 11:58Speaker 1: and returned home weary syds in meditation a moonies in
- 12:04Speaker 1: deep research have sought for God but found him not.
- 12:09Speaker 1: Siam Saith, all the vEDS and Mohammedan books, and the
- 12:14Speaker 1: wisdom of the saints have thus decided. Hearken o saints.
- 12:19Speaker 1: The poet speaketh, they who search with love obtain God.
- 12:25Speaker 1: I am the son of a brave man, not of
- 12:28Speaker 1: a brahmin. How can I perform austerities? How can I
- 12:32Speaker 1: turn my attention to thee O Lord, and forsake domestic affairs.
- 12:37Speaker 1: Now be pleased to grant me the boon I crave
- 12:41Speaker 1: with clasped hands, that when the end of my life cometh,
- 12:45Speaker 1: I may die fighting in a mighty battle. Blessed is
- 12:50Speaker 1: his life in this world? Who repeateth God's name with
- 12:55Speaker 1: his mouth and meditateth war in his heart. The body
- 13:00Speaker 1: is fleeting and shall not abide forever. Man embarking in
- 13:05Speaker 1: the ship of fame shall cross the ocean of the world.
- 13:09Speaker 1: Make this body a house of resignation. Light thine understanding
- 13:15Speaker 1: as a lamp. Take the broom of divine knowledge into
- 13:18Speaker 1: thy hand, and sweep away the filth of timidity. Power
- 13:25Speaker 1: is not avatar, oh thoughtless fool. Why knowest thou not
- 13:31Speaker 1: thy maker, O man? Why knowest thou not God, oh
- 13:37Speaker 1: heedless beast? Bound with worldly love? They on whom thou
- 13:42Speaker 1: reposest confidence Ram Krishan and the prophet whose names thou
- 13:49Speaker 1: continually utterest on rising? Where live they now in the world?
- 13:54Speaker 1: And why singest thou their praises. Why recognize as not
- 14:00Speaker 1: him who is now and ever shall be. Why idly
- 14:04Speaker 1: worship stones, will they yield THEE in any return? Worship
- 14:09Speaker 1: Him by whose worship thy work shall be accomplished, and
- 14:14Speaker 1: by taking whose name all thy desires shall be fulfilled.
- 14:19Speaker 1: O yogi yo consisteth not in matted hair. Why wear
- 14:25Speaker 1: thyself out and kill thyself wandering? Consider this in thy mind.
- 14:31Speaker 1: The man who knoweth the supreme divine knowledge shall obtain
- 14:35Speaker 1: the great reward. He shall then restrain his mind in
- 14:39Speaker 1: one place and not run wandering from door to door.
- 14:44Speaker 1: What availeth it to leave one's home, run away and
- 14:49Speaker 1: dwell in a forest when one's heart ever remaineth at home.
- 14:54Speaker 1: Such a person is not an udasi. Boasting of thy
- 15:01Speaker 1: religious fervor, Thou deceivest the world by the exercise of
- 15:05Speaker 1: great deception. Thou thinkest in thy heart that thou hast
- 15:10Speaker 1: abandoned worldly love. But worldly love hath not abandoned THEE.
- 15:17Speaker 1: O man with the garb. Religion consisteth not in wearing
- 15:22Speaker 1: a garb. It consisteth not in wearing matted hair and
- 15:27Speaker 1: long nails, or in smearing ashes on the body, or
- 15:31Speaker 1: dying thy raiment. If man obtain yog by dwelling in
- 15:36Speaker 1: the forest, the bird ever dwelleth there, the elephant ever
- 15:42Speaker 1: throweth dust on his head, considered this in thy heart.
- 15:47Speaker 1: Frogs and fishes ever bathe at places of pilgrimage. The cat,
- 15:52Speaker 1: the wolf, and the crane meditate. What know they of religion?
- 15:58Speaker 1: As thou, in yourst pain to deceive men, do so
- 16:03Speaker 1: also for God's sake. Thus shalt thou no great divine
- 16:09Speaker 1: knowledge and crop the Supreme nectar in the compositions of
- 16:17Speaker 1: Gugo been sing introduction to the Hindu incantations
