- 0:11Hello friends, it's Sean here. And it's Yvonne, too.
- 0:15Happy Friday. Happy Friday.
- 0:17Happy Friday the 13th. Oh, it's an ominous sounding
- 0:20date. That's.
- 0:22Right, but it's going to be a great day.
- 0:23Forget all that superstitious mumbo jumbo, we are in for a
- 0:27fantastic day. Absolutely, as we dive into
- 0:30God's Word together. Oh look at you, your thumbs up
- 0:34dive. In let's.
- 0:34Do it. Yes, we are going to read some
- 0:36more of the proverbs today, still going through chapter 21,
- 0:40but today we are going to read 21, seven to 12.
- 0:55The violence of the wicked sweeps them away because they
- 0:59refuse to do what is just. The guilty walk a crooked path,
- 1:05the innocent travel a straight Rd.
- 1:10It's better to live alone in the corner of an attic than with a
- 1:13quarrel from wife in a lovely home.
- 1:17Evil people desire evil. Their neighbours get no mercy
- 1:22from them. If you punish A mocker, the
- 1:26simple minded become wise. If you instruct the wise, they
- 1:31will be all the wiser. The righteous one knows what is
- 1:35going on in the homes of the wicked.
- 1:38He will bring disaster on them. And again.
- 1:44The violence of the wicked sweeps them away because they
- 1:47refuse to do what is just. The guilty walk a crooked path,
- 1:54the innocent travel a straight Rd.
- 1:57It's better to live alone in the corner of an attic than with a
- 2:01quarrelsome wife in a lovely home.
- 2:06Evil people desire evil. Their neighbours get no mercy
- 2:10from them. If you punish A mocha, the
- 2:14simple minded become wise. If you instruct the wise, they
- 2:19will be all the wiser. The righteous one knows what is
- 2:25going on in the homes of the wicked.
- 2:27He will bring disaster on them again.
- 2:41So much in that. Absolutely.
- 2:44I know you always don't like the quarrelsome wives one.
- 2:48Well, obviously it would also be better to live alone in the
- 2:51corner of an attic if you had a quarrelsome husband in a lovely
- 2:54home. Yeah.
- 2:55Thank you very much. Very patriarchal text, isn't it?
- 2:59But but I think it just goes to say that peace and grace far
- 3:04outstrip other things that we would count as important.
- 3:08And even though the one before that that says the guilty have
- 3:10to walk this crooked path to try and get through with their lies
- 3:14and deceptions whereas the innocent get to travel on the
- 3:17straight Rd. Lovely.
- 3:22And the other thing that really stands out to me is the one
- 3:26about evil people desiring evil and their neighbours getting no
- 3:29mercy from them. It really positions mercy as the
- 3:33antithesis of evil. And mercy and grace go hand in
- 3:39hand in that, don't they? Absolutely.
- 3:44But thank you for your grace that you have shown us.
- 3:49Thank you for your mercy that you continually offer us.
- 3:53Thank You that you make our paths straight as we walk in the
- 3:58light with you. Lord, I pray that you continue
- 4:03to shape our character with your wisdom, Your wisdom that
- 4:07continually turns us to you and everything you've done for us in
- 4:11Jesus. We love you and we're grateful
- 4:14for you, and we pray that we would be beacons of your Kingdom
- 4:20in this world around us. So we offer ourselves to you
- 4:23today and pray that you use us as you will.
- 4:26We love you when we pray all of this in your loving name, Amen.
- 4:30Amen.
