Halftime Headliner Hates Half the Country-Expanding the Audience or Losing America? · The 47 Morning Update with Ben Ferguson

0:00
Speaker 1: You can't have a fourteen million foreign nationals run around
0:03
Speaker 1: on supervised and that's exactly what the Democrats supported. That's
0:07
Speaker 1: the height of your responsibility. Where are you paying for
0:10
Speaker 1: that for the next twenty years? That Biden open border
0:13
Speaker 1: was the worst policy decision in history by a sitting president,
0:18
Speaker 1: the worst.
0:19
Speaker 2: You're listening to the forty seven Morning Update with Ben ferguson.
0:23
Speaker 3: Good Monday Morning. Nice to have you with us. On
0:25
Speaker 3: the forty seven Morning Update. The super Bowl happened, but
0:29
Speaker 3: the real story was what happened at halftime, as there
0:33
Speaker 3: were two different options for Americans, turning Point USA putting
0:37
Speaker 3: on their patriotic Super Bowl alternative and it earned praise.
0:41
Speaker 3: Is millions tuned in over Bad Bunny. The President also
0:46
Speaker 3: giving his thoughts on the halftime performance that if you
0:49
Speaker 3: didn't understand Spanish, you couldn't understand a word that was
0:52
Speaker 3: being said. Plus, in another shocking story, it's amazing just
0:57
Speaker 3: how much money you can lose by play in the
1:00
Speaker 3: Super Bowl if it's in California. Senator Cruz and I
1:04
Speaker 3: talk about that, plus the halftime show and why so
1:07
Speaker 3: many people are getting out of California as fast as
1:10
Speaker 3: they possibly can It's a forty seven morning update and
1:13
Speaker 3: it starts right now.
1:15
Speaker 4: Story number one.
1:16
Speaker 3: More than five million Patriots decided they weren't going to
1:20
Speaker 3: watch the halftime show on NBC of the Super Bowl,
1:23
Speaker 3: and instead they decided to watch one that celebrated America.
1:28
Speaker 3: Turning point usays all American halftime show won the Super
1:33
Speaker 3: Bowl for many Americans, and why well. From bashing Black
1:38
Speaker 3: Lives Matter and Kammua to bashing Eye, Super Bowl sixty
1:42
Speaker 3: starred Bad Bunnies history of left wing activists and saying
1:47
Speaker 3: what they like to say the most f Donald Trump.
1:50
Speaker 3: That's exactly why there was another option this Super Bowl Sunday.
1:56
Speaker 3: With sports fans usually getting excited about the halftime show,
2:00
Speaker 3: this year was very different. Why because the left wing
2:04
Speaker 3: political activism in this year's game, especially from halftime show
2:10
Speaker 3: star Bad Bunny, who has a long history of leftist activism.
2:16
Speaker 3: The Puerto Rican pop star's latest dive into woke politics
2:20
Speaker 3: was his appearance at this year's Grammy Awards, where he
2:23
Speaker 3: launched into an anti Ice tirade from the stage as
2:28
Speaker 3: he collected the Best Album award that he received, and
2:33
Speaker 3: he was very excited about it. He wanted to say
2:36
Speaker 3: this before he even thank God, as he described it
2:39
Speaker 3: for his award.
2:41
Speaker 4: Before I say thanks to God, I'm gonna say ice out.
2:53
Speaker 3: That got him a standing ovation from so many that
2:57
Speaker 3: were there. He went on to say, icea out. We're
3:00
Speaker 3: not savages, we're not animals, we are humans, and we
3:03
Speaker 3: are Americans. That was not the first time the rapper,
3:07
Speaker 3: whose real name is Benito, has worked to undermine American
3:12
Speaker 3: immigration laws. For instance, he so strongly opposed US immigration
3:16
Speaker 3: laws they refused to perform any shows in the US
3:21
Speaker 3: during his twenty twenty five concert tour, which actually in
3:25
Speaker 3: many ways made it more money by those outside the US. Quote,
3:30
Speaker 3: people from the US could come here to Puerto Rico
3:32
Speaker 3: to see the show. Latinos and Puerto Ricans of the
3:35
Speaker 3: United States could also travel here or in any part
3:38
Speaker 3: of the world, he told ID magazine in twenty twenty five.
3:42
Speaker 3: But there was that issue. Ice could be outside my concerts,
3:46
Speaker 3: and it's something that we were talking about and very
3:49
Speaker 3: concerned about. Later that night, in Spanish, he dedicated a
3:54
Speaker 3: ward to quote all the people who had to leave
3:56
Speaker 3: their homeland, their country to follow their dream. He also
4:01
Speaker 3: instilled his love for destructive, wide open borders in one
4:05
Speaker 3: of his songs. In the music video for his song,
4:09
Speaker 3: Mad Bunny placed the Puerto Rican flag over the forehead
4:12
Speaker 3: of the Statue of Liberty and then featured a Trump
4:15
Speaker 3: impersonator's voice saying, I made a mistake. I want to
4:18
Speaker 3: apologize to the immigrants in America. I want to say
4:22
Speaker 3: that this country is nothing without the immigrants. This country
4:26
Speaker 3: is nothing without Mexicans, Dominicans, Puerto Ricans, Colombians, Venezuelans, and Cubans.
4:33
Speaker 3: If you want to know who his audience is, he
4:35
Speaker 3: pretty much just named it right there. In addition, the
4:38
Speaker 3: rapper attacked Ice in June of last year on Instagram
4:42
Speaker 3: after immigration officers were seen taking illegals into custody in
4:48
Speaker 3: one part of the country. Bad Bunny ripped Ice on
4:51
Speaker 3: his Instagram account, saying in Spanish that those mother efforts
4:55
Speaker 3: are in these cars rav fours. They're here sons of blanks,
5:01
Speaker 3: instead of letting the people alone and working. Bad Bunny
5:06
Speaker 3: was also a huge supporter of Kamala Harris in the
5:08
Speaker 3: twenty twenty four presidential election and endorsed the former vice
5:13
Speaker 3: president at the time. Previous to two thousand and four election,
5:17
Speaker 3: he formally allowed Joe Biden to use his music at
5:21
Speaker 3: Biden rallies back in twenty twenty, and then you can
5:24
Speaker 3: go back to Black Lives Matter. Speaking of the twenty
5:28
Speaker 3: twenty election cycle, Bad Bunny told Time magazine that he
5:32
Speaker 3: supported the violence the ritis Black Lives Matter movement, and
5:37
Speaker 3: gave the magazine a statement reading, quote f Donald Trump. Yeah,
5:42
Speaker 3: I used the whole word Presidente del ressimo. Yes, that's
5:48
Speaker 3: calling Donald Trump the F word, and then saying he's
5:50
Speaker 3: a racist. He wasn't done there, by the way. He
5:53
Speaker 3: also put this out in the world. Living in a
5:55
Speaker 3: world like this, none of us can breathe. F Donald Trump,
6:00
Speaker 3: president of racism, your hate and tyranny. That's terrorism, referring
6:05
Speaker 3: to Donald Trump as an actual terrorist. Don't stop the fight.
6:09
Speaker 3: He then encouraged those who were burning down American cities
6:12
Speaker 3: don't lower your fists, telling them to go after law enforcement.
6:17
Speaker 3: Know that we are all home, that this is our land.
6:23
Speaker 3: That is what bad Bunny put out then, and another
6:26
Speaker 3: example of his feelings on wote political topics. Immediately after
6:30
Speaker 3: he was announced as the NFL's halftime show star back
6:34
Speaker 3: in October, bad Bunny smugly exclaimed that Americans had four
6:38
Speaker 3: months to quote learn Spanish, quote unquote, and has insisted
6:42
Speaker 3: that he will not sing any of his music in English.
6:47
Speaker 3: Only days before a Super Bowl appearance, the rapper tried
6:50
Speaker 3: to walk back is you better learn Spanish warning. During
6:53
Speaker 3: an appearance on San Francisco's local station, the rapper told
6:58
Speaker 3: the audience, quote, I know it. Then they had four
7:00
Speaker 3: months to learn Spanish. They don't even have to learn Spanish.
7:04
Speaker 3: They can learn to dance.
7:06
Speaker 4: Yes.
7:07
Speaker 3: Despite his history of anti Americanism, the NFL has been
7:11
Speaker 3: working hard to defend its decision to book Bad Bunny
7:14
Speaker 3: as the headliner of its twenty six Super Bowl halftime show.
7:18
Speaker 3: Despite Bunny's constant literal attacks on America, his insistence that
7:23
Speaker 3: he will never sing in English, and his decision not
7:26
Speaker 3: to tour the US because he hates Donald Trump, the
7:29
Speaker 3: NFL commissioner Roger Goodell insisted that hiring the Rapper is
7:33
Speaker 3: going to be a united moment for America and for
7:37
Speaker 3: football fans, and the league has rejected calls to fire
7:41
Speaker 3: the rapper. So there you go. Bad Bunny got the offer,
7:45
Speaker 3: and yeah, he caved on some of his claims, but
7:48
Speaker 3: the NFL also made it clear they're willing to put
7:51
Speaker 3: people on stage at halftime if they think it expands
7:54
Speaker 3: the NFL audience to those outside the United States of America,
7:59
Speaker 3: no doubt about it. If if you watch the halftime
8:01
Speaker 3: show and not the turning point one, you probably have
8:04
Speaker 3: an opinion. Donald Trump had this to say about it, saying,
8:07
Speaker 3: quote it was one of the worst ever, absolutely terrible
8:11
Speaker 3: super Bowl halftime show. President Trump criticizing that show and
8:16
Speaker 3: saying exactly what you expect in his post on True
8:19
Speaker 3: Social he described it as a slap in the face
8:22
Speaker 3: to the United States. Trump also took a shot at
8:24
Speaker 3: Bad Money performing in Spanish, stating that nobody understands a
8:28
Speaker 3: word this guy is saying. The Super Bowl halftime show
8:31
Speaker 3: is absolutely terrible, one of the worst ever. Trump said,
8:34
Speaker 3: it makes no sense. It's an affront to the greatness
8:37
Speaker 3: of America and doesn't represent our standards of success, creativity,
8:41
Speaker 3: or excellence. Nobody understands the word this guy's saying, and
8:44
Speaker 3: the dancing is disgusting, especially for young children that are
8:48
Speaker 3: watching from throughout the US and all over the world.
8:51
Speaker 3: This show is just a slap in the face to
8:53
Speaker 3: our country, which is setting new standards and records every
8:57
Speaker 3: single day. The President went on to say in Queen,
9:00
Speaker 3: the best stock market in four oh one k in history.
9:03
Speaker 3: Trump went on to say, there is nothing inspiration about
9:06
Speaker 3: this mess of the halftime show, and watch it will
9:09
Speaker 3: get great reviews from the fake news media because they
9:12
Speaker 3: haven't gotten a clue of what's going on in the
9:14
Speaker 3: real world. And by the way, the NFL should immediately
9:17
Speaker 3: replace this ridiculous new kickoff rule. The President also weighed in.
9:22
Speaker 3: So there you have it, a full rundown of what
9:25
Speaker 3: actually happened at the super Bowl. One thing's for sure.
9:29
Speaker 3: The NFL is willing to sell out to anyone if
9:32
Speaker 3: they think it can bring in new fans, and it
9:35
Speaker 3: even even if it means putting someone up on stage.
9:40
Speaker 3: It says f the President of the United States of
9:42
Speaker 3: America and much of the greatness of this country.
9:45
Speaker 2: Now story number two.
9:47
Speaker 3: So the super Bowl happened, and we decided we were
9:50
Speaker 3: going to talk about it. Senator Cruz and I were
9:52
Speaker 3: deciding how we were going to talk about bad Bunny.
9:55
Speaker 3: And if you didn't understand a word he was saying
9:57
Speaker 3: in the super Bowl, yeah, that was on purpose. It's
10:00
Speaker 3: part of his anti America, hate us all agenda. Now
10:05
Speaker 3: that's just the reality of the situation, but how angry
10:08
Speaker 3: should you be? And also there was an alternative, which
10:11
Speaker 3: is what I love about this country.
10:13
Speaker 4: Well it's Super Bowl Sunday.
10:14
Speaker 5: I will say I had the great joy of being
10:16
Speaker 5: on an airplane during a lot of.
10:17
Speaker 4: The Super Bowl.
10:18
Speaker 5: So I caught part of the third quarter and then
10:21
Speaker 5: that was about it. So I didn't watch much. I
10:26
Speaker 5: got a field goal that that was about it. I
10:29
Speaker 5: did not see the halftime show, although I did pull
10:32
Speaker 5: it up on my phone and watch part of it afterwards.
10:36
Speaker 5: But you know, look, I mean the Super Bowl. A
10:37
Speaker 5: lot of times, I'll go to a Super Bowl party.
10:39
Speaker 5: In this case, I was just just flying and landing
10:41
Speaker 5: in Texas, so got on the got home midway through.
10:48
Speaker 5: You know, I got to say a lot of the
10:50
Speaker 5: noise about the halftime show. Yeah, I just found myself
10:55
Speaker 5: not caring. But like I know that there were a
10:58
Speaker 5: lot of folks all worked up and on the right,
11:01
Speaker 5: you're supposed to be outraged that that that, you know,
11:05
Speaker 5: bad bunny.
11:05
Speaker 3: There was like no English spoken I could have said
11:08
Speaker 3: where the guy was saying yeah.
11:09
Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah.
11:10
Speaker 3: So I'm not bilingual like you are those center there's
11:13
Speaker 3: a difference. See you understood it.
11:15
Speaker 5: I did know, Benjamin, look we Latino was a little
11:18
Speaker 5: bit of Spanish, won't kill you like I. I just
11:21
Speaker 5: you know, I don't like the guy's politics. At the Grammys.
11:24
Speaker 5: I thought he made an ass of himself, like like
11:26
Speaker 5: saying ice out that I that I don't like, and
11:29
Speaker 5: I don't really like when celebrities try to force their
11:32
Speaker 5: politics on us. But you know, I watched him like
11:37
Speaker 5: in the sugar cane and dancing around. I think most
11:40
Speaker 5: of the halftime shows are kind of silly, so like
11:42
Speaker 5: that this didn't strike me as particularly unusual in more
11:46
Speaker 5: or less silliness. You know, the guy falls through a
11:50
Speaker 5: roof and lands in someone's apartment. That was just kind
11:52
Speaker 5: of strange, But I, you know, it was.
11:56
Speaker 4: I found myself.
11:57
Speaker 3: We at the level now where you just say, if
11:59
Speaker 3: you're like a singer and this is what you do,
12:01
Speaker 3: you just don't give a crap.
12:03
Speaker 4: Oh look, I mean I my girls like that bunny.
12:09
Speaker 5: I have to admit he's not on my playlist, but
12:14
Speaker 5: I have a fifteen and seventeen year old daughter and
12:17
Speaker 5: they listened to him some. Most of the halftime shows
12:21
Speaker 5: don't do much for me. I mean, it's it's They're fine.
12:24
Speaker 5: They're typically typically like pop singers, and and you know,
12:28
Speaker 5: I tend to listen to more more country music or
12:31
Speaker 5: classic rock anyway, So look, it was we've already talked
12:38
Speaker 5: more in the last four minutes about it that I've
12:40
Speaker 5: probably thought about the whole thing.
12:42
Speaker 3: I love and I love it. By the way, did
12:44
Speaker 3: you see that Turning Point A had like five million
12:46
Speaker 3: live watching on YouTube?
12:49
Speaker 4: Yeah?
12:49
Speaker 5: And look, Kid Rock, you know, I mean Kid Rock
12:51
Speaker 5: testified before the Senate this past week, and so I
12:55
Speaker 5: got to visit with Kid Rock.
12:57
Speaker 4: He came by my office. He was a nice guy.
12:59
Speaker 5: I liked him, but to be honest, I was on
13:03
Speaker 5: a plane for Kid Rocks too, So I didn't watch
13:05
Speaker 5: either one of them. By the way, I was glad
13:08
Speaker 5: at least, you know, the early promos said Bad Buy
13:10
Speaker 5: Bunny was gonna wear a dress. He didn't wear a
13:13
Speaker 5: dress at least not that I saw, so, so I
13:15
Speaker 5: was glad of that at least that, you know, small victory.
13:18
Speaker 3: Yeah, he leaves that in like you know, the burning
13:20
Speaker 3: of flags other places. Right, Yeah, you're not doing the
13:22
Speaker 3: super Bowl, you know.
13:24
Speaker 5: I'm just saying, I am curious, though, how much Bad
13:29
Speaker 5: Bunny is going to be taxed for having gone to
13:32
Speaker 5: the Super Bowl.
13:33
Speaker 3: So, by the way, this is the story that I
13:36
Speaker 3: think everyone should be outraged over, right if if if
13:41
Speaker 3: bad Bunny didn't get you going. Here is the story,
13:44
Speaker 3: and we've got the tax hours. If you want to
13:46
Speaker 3: know why California is fading fast and why so many
13:51
Speaker 3: people that when they start making money are out of there,
13:53
Speaker 3: and so many people in the in the crypto world
13:56
Speaker 3: and the IT world and all the other world are
13:58
Speaker 3: like they're getting out of there, like they're leaving fast
14:02
Speaker 3: as they can. Let's just break down. We've got some
14:05
Speaker 3: data for people of how much money California made off
14:09
Speaker 3: the Super Bowl, of those that were actually making money
14:12
Speaker 3: at the Super Bowl. It really is incredible data.
14:15
Speaker 4: Well it is.
14:18
Speaker 5: If you look at Sam Darnold going into the game,
14:21
Speaker 5: here's what his incentives were.
14:24
Speaker 4: If he wins.
14:26
Speaker 5: Yeah, he's going to receive one hundred and seventy eight
14:28
Speaker 5: thousand dollars as a bonus yep, and he will pay
14:32
Speaker 5: two hundred and forty nine thousand in taxes to California
14:35
Speaker 5: for his time here, meaning he will lose seventy one
14:39
Speaker 5: thousand dollars. Yeah, that's what ended up happening. If he
14:44
Speaker 5: had lost, then he would have gotten one hundred and
14:48
Speaker 5: three thousand dollars in bonus, but he would still owe
14:52
Speaker 5: two hundred and thirty five thousand in taxes, meaning he
14:55
Speaker 5: would have lost one hundred and thirty five thousand dollars.
14:58
Speaker 5: So I guess, Sam, congratulations, Yeah, you only lost seventy
15:02
Speaker 5: one thousand dollars for stepping foot in the Commonwealth of California. Uh,
15:07
Speaker 5: instead of losing one hundred and thirty five thousand dollars.
15:10
Speaker 5: And what kind of insanity is it that that's how
15:14
Speaker 5: the California tax system is.
15:16
Speaker 3: Yeah, it is, and it's and I mean this is
15:18
Speaker 3: you you fly in there and you just do a
15:19
Speaker 3: day's work and you're a performer. They are going to
15:22
Speaker 3: take as much money as they can and they don't care.
15:24
Speaker 3: Like there now there's there's there was inching articles reading
15:27
Speaker 3: online about it.
15:28
Speaker 5: Look, look, I think but I think bad Bunny changed
15:30
Speaker 5: his name. He's now sad Bunny because sad as California
15:33
Speaker 5: took all his money.
15:34
Speaker 3: See that. You're not wrong on that one. But they
15:37
Speaker 3: were talking about bands and and.
15:39
Speaker 5: You know, you know, if you if you let California
15:42
Speaker 5: keep going, he may soon be like fatal attraction, bunny.
15:45
Speaker 5: I mean, and there's a whole like like.
15:47
Speaker 3: A rabbit, there's a whole rabbit hole you can go
15:49
Speaker 3: down on. This one is out right now. Oh yeah, all.
15:53
Speaker 4: Right, I went there than you you at worst.
15:54
Speaker 3: Okay, You're welcome, You're welcome. I'm here all night, folks.
15:57
Speaker 3: No comedians, though, are avoiding California for the tax reasons
16:01
Speaker 3: you just said that. I mean, it's it's real. Why
16:04
Speaker 3: would you spend the night there if you know you're
16:07
Speaker 3: not gonna make near as much money and you can
16:09
Speaker 3: choose to go somewhere else, like go to Nevada, go
16:12
Speaker 3: to New Mexico. I mean, there's a lot of other
16:13
Speaker 3: places you can go to perform. And there's a lot
16:16
Speaker 3: of people that are now sitting they're actually avoiding it
16:18
Speaker 3: for the reasons you just described with those bonuses and taxes.
16:21
Speaker 5: So, California has the highest marginal income tax of any state.
16:25
Speaker 5: Its top marginal rate is thirteen point three percent on
16:28
Speaker 5: wage income and on capital gains that exceed one million
16:31
Speaker 5: dollars a year. The top rate for waging crome come
16:36
Speaker 5: climbs to fourteen point six percent when you include the
16:40
Speaker 5: state disability insurance rate which has no wage cap, and
16:44
Speaker 5: that's on top of federal taxes. So federal taxes at
16:47
Speaker 5: the top of the tax bracket, you're paying thirty seven
16:50
Speaker 5: percent plus fourteen point six percent. So the reason Darnald
16:56
Speaker 5: owes that money is because he is tallied with eight
17:01
Speaker 5: duty days. In California, while they were get they're getting
17:04
Speaker 5: ready for the super Bowl, he got popped with it.
17:06
Speaker 4: Welcome to California. Congratulations on the super Bowl.
17:09
Speaker 5: And by the way, when you play the super Bowl
17:11
Speaker 5: in Texas, we don't text you a penny and you
17:13
Speaker 5: get great text Max.
