- 0:01Speaker 1: You're listening to Bill Handle on demand from KFI AM
- 0:04Speaker 1: six forty.
- 0:12Speaker 2: And now Handle on the news.
- 0:15Speaker 1: Ladies and gentlemen, here's Bill Handle.
- 0:23Speaker 2: All rightod morning everybody.
- 0:25Speaker 3: It is a Wednesday morning, hut day, Wednesday, March eighteenth,
- 0:30Speaker 3: and we're in the middle of this hot, hot, hot spell.
- 0:34Speaker 3: I think we broke every record out there for the
- 0:38Speaker 3: month of March, if I'm not mistaken. In the meantime
- 0:41Speaker 3: on the East Coast, of course, they're going into storm
- 0:43Speaker 3: after storm after storm after storm. All right, so Amy,
- 0:49Speaker 3: good morning, and what tell me a little bit about
- 0:52Speaker 3: how long this hot spell is going to.
- 0:53Speaker 2: Be hot through Friday.
- 0:56Speaker 4: We are under an extreme heat warning hill Friday at
- 1:01Speaker 4: eight pm, temperatures expecting twenty to thirty five degrees above normals.
- 1:06Speaker 4: And you mentioned some heat break heat records falling yesterday
- 1:11Speaker 4: in downtown LA it was ninety seven degrees, breaking a
- 1:14Speaker 4: record set in nineteen fourteen.
- 1:16Speaker 3: Ooh, and so come Saturday, it's going to be what
- 1:20Speaker 3: temperature ten degrees cooler?
- 1:23Speaker 4: Okay, yeah, so it'll be in the eighties and nineties
- 1:26Speaker 4: on Saturday, very hot.
- 1:28Speaker 2: But not hot, yeah, not hot.
- 1:31Speaker 3: You know, we haven't been the sounder kno We've got
- 1:35Speaker 3: to come up with that sounder that we have in
- 1:37Speaker 3: the archives, because I've got a bunch of them, you know,
- 1:41Speaker 3: talking about the heat. It's hot, but it's not as
- 1:45Speaker 3: shitz because the point is that it's not a shitz.
- 1:49Speaker 2: It is hot. It's hot. A rama is theory is heat.
- 1:54Speaker 2: It's heat again, what is therey.
- 1:57Speaker 3: Like a Schwitz calculator, There is a Switz calculator.
- 2:02Speaker 5: Yes, get what point does it become not just hot
- 2:07Speaker 5: but Aitz.
- 2:08Speaker 2: Well you see, you're you're now conflating Schwitz and heat.
- 2:11Speaker 1: Uh is like humidity, right.
- 2:14Speaker 2: That's right. Schwitz is hot plus humidity. Uh.
- 2:18Speaker 3: Schwitz barometer Schwitz and uh it's if it's hot, not
- 2:23Speaker 3: a Schwitz, then it's just hot.
- 2:25Speaker 2: Uh.
- 2:25Speaker 3: The barometer. It depends on what segment of the Jewish
- 2:31Speaker 3: religion you are. For reformed people, for ultra Orthodox people,
- 2:34Speaker 3: it's all different.
- 2:36Speaker 5: One it's the undercarriage, yes, the other is sweating.
- 2:42Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 2:42Speaker 3: Okay, So anyway, it's it's hot, but it's not a Schwitz.
- 2:46Speaker 3: We rarely have schwitzy hot here in southern California. Okay, Uh, Neil,
- 2:53Speaker 3: good morning to you, good morning, good morning. And there
- 2:56Speaker 3: is our talk to Amy Kono is there, and there
- 2:59Speaker 3: you are are. Good morning, And before I forget, which
- 3:03Speaker 3: I will almost instantaneously, will good morning. You know I
- 3:07Speaker 3: was driving the other day at nine o'clock when you
- 3:09Speaker 3: were like, he was, will here today? Thank you so much? Really, yeah,
- 3:13Speaker 3: I complain. If you're not on that screen, you don't exist.
- 3:16Speaker 3: If I'm not looking at you, you are not there. Well,
- 3:19Speaker 3: where have you been the last two days? Well? I
- 3:21Speaker 3: took yesterday off, but the day before I did some
- 3:23Speaker 3: work in San Diego, so I've been around.
- 3:27Speaker 2: Oh yeah, yeah.
- 3:28Speaker 3: All right, fair enough, All right, let me see what's
- 3:32Speaker 3: going on Saturday. We have our broadcast, the Neil Savager
- 3:37Speaker 3: Folk Report Show, and it's going to be broadcast at
- 3:40Speaker 3: my house. There were some very generous people who donated
- 3:44Speaker 3: to Catarina's Club, so they are joining us and we're
- 3:47Speaker 3: doing basically, we auctioned off this broadcast, so never been
- 3:53Speaker 3: never been done before. The barbecue at my house, and boy,
- 3:57Speaker 3: everybody's going balls to the wall on this. I mean,
- 4:00Speaker 3: we've got Anaheim White House, We've got while Fork is
- 4:04Speaker 3: going to be there with the food.
- 4:06Speaker 2: We got a chef there. We're gonna be wiling like crazy.
- 4:09Speaker 1: Is going to be out there.
- 4:11Speaker 2: I mean just yeah, your.
- 4:13Speaker 5: Wife Lindsay has gotten nuts with all kinds of great stuff.
- 4:17Speaker 1: I won't tip any information.
- 4:20Speaker 3: Well, and suggested that we put the menu up on Instagram,
- 4:25Speaker 3: you know, without the home address, because the last thing
- 4:28Speaker 3: I want to do is have anybody show up, just
- 4:31Speaker 3: to let you know. Even the people who have donated
- 4:35Speaker 3: the money and the barbecue, they are guests of honor.
- 4:38Speaker 2: They will be cavity searched as they walk in the door.
- 4:42Speaker 4: So that invite I don't know if it's an invite,
- 4:45Speaker 4: but it has him over a barbecue.
- 4:48Speaker 2: Yeah, I think that.
- 4:50Speaker 5: I think that's the old Yeah, yeah, old I did
- 4:54Speaker 5: that when we roasted Bill for one of his anniversaries.
- 4:57Speaker 3: Oh that's very funny. Yeah, we're gonna put that up
- 5:00Speaker 3: on an Instagram and so. Uh so you really want
- 5:03Speaker 3: to please tune in on Saturday on Neil so because
- 5:07Speaker 3: it's a different it's going to be fun and all.
- 5:10Speaker 3: I think the entire Morning crew will be there. Will
- 5:13Speaker 3: Did I invite you?
- 5:15Speaker 2: You did?
- 5:15Speaker 1: Thank you?
- 5:16Speaker 2: Yeah, that's unfortunate. Okay. Uh And the only person not
- 5:20Speaker 2: showing up is Kno way to go, Yeah, way to go.
- 5:25Speaker 2: Some of us have other jobs.
- 5:28Speaker 5: Yeah, okay, all right, just want I thought you normally
- 5:33Speaker 5: free after Saint Patti's day.
- 5:39Speaker 2: All right, list when I why don't we just start
- 5:41Speaker 2: the news at this point?
- 5:42Speaker 3: Uh, fair enough, it's time for Handle on the news
- 5:46Speaker 3: with Amy Neil and me lead story. Well, down goes
- 5:53Speaker 3: another top Iranian official. Uh, the Iran Minister of Intelligence
- 5:58Speaker 3: Ismael Katib is now completely dead in an Israeli attack.
- 6:05Speaker 3: I can tell you it's not you do not want
- 6:07Speaker 3: to be a senior member of this regime because you're
- 6:10Speaker 3: not going to last very long. And so there was
- 6:13Speaker 3: another one, and the attacks are continuing like crazy. I
- 6:19Speaker 3: think the United States primarily, that's the attacks for mainly
- 6:24Speaker 3: the United States and maybe even Israel underestimated Iran's response,
- 6:29Speaker 3: how long it's going to last, the kind of retaliation.
- 6:32Speaker 2: That they they've been able to produce.
- 6:35Speaker 3: So it's and then there's all kinds of politics involved
- 6:38Speaker 3: Donald Trump, President Trump asking for European allies to help
- 6:42Speaker 3: keep the straight of horror moves open, all of them
- 6:46Speaker 3: universally telling him to go to pound pound sand and
- 6:49Speaker 3: of course what.
- 6:50Speaker 2: A fight we have with that situation.
- 6:52Speaker 3: But we'll be talking more about that coming up in
- 6:55Speaker 3: the meantime, let's continue.
- 6:58Speaker 4: Not all in Trump's circle are all in on Iran. Yesterday,
- 7:03Speaker 4: the intelligence community's top counterism counter terrorism official resigned because
- 7:10Speaker 4: of the war on Iran. Joe Kent said I cannot
- 7:15Speaker 4: in good conscience support the ongoing war in Iran and
- 7:19Speaker 4: said Iran did not pose an imminent threat to our nation.
- 7:22Speaker 4: And it's clear we started this war due to pressure
- 7:25Speaker 4: from Israel and it's powerful American lobby.
- 7:28Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 7:29Speaker 3: First of all, he's an avowed anti semit He has
- 7:32Speaker 3: posted Nazi tropes like crazy.
- 7:34Speaker 2: That's for starters.
- 7:35Speaker 3: And the guy is a conspiracy theorist of the First Water.
- 7:39Speaker 2: And of course says he resigned.
- 7:41Speaker 3: This is the top intelligence counter terrorism guy in the country.
- 7:47Speaker 3: And after he resigns, Trump says he's a nice guy.
- 7:51Speaker 3: But I knew he was weak. I know he was weak.
- 7:54Speaker 2: Of course he had to say that.
- 7:57Speaker 4: I'm surprised he didn't say more. I was surprised he
- 7:59Speaker 4: said he and well, he was a nice guy.
- 8:01Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 8:02Speaker 3: And then on top of that, and this is where
- 8:07Speaker 3: you know, I don't care what you say, whether you
- 8:09Speaker 3: like them, don't like him, pull up politics or not.
- 8:13Speaker 3: We're hearing a lot of Iran was not an imminent
- 8:15Speaker 3: threat to the United States, therefore the attack should not
- 8:18Speaker 3: have happened. When does it become an imminent threat to
- 8:23Speaker 3: where an attack is justified? Does it happen when Iran
- 8:28Speaker 3: has the bomb? That's when it becomes an imminent threat.
- 8:32Speaker 4: So Steve Whickcoff was saying, they were literally weeks away
- 8:36Speaker 4: from having it. Does to make like end bomb.
- 8:39Speaker 3: But I don't care even if they're six months away,
- 8:42Speaker 3: even if there's years away. Again, do you wait while
- 8:46Speaker 3: they're building, while they're constructing all those ballistic missiles and
- 8:50Speaker 3: shoring up. Not this is not off the fences that
- 8:53Speaker 3: they're building up. We're not talking about missiles and drones
- 8:57Speaker 3: for defensive purposes.
- 8:58Speaker 2: This is to attack. So we're gonna wait until it's
- 9:01Speaker 2: an imminent threat? Sure? Why not?
- 9:05Speaker 1: Chaves?
- 9:06Speaker 3: No?
- 9:08Speaker 1: What is uh.
- 9:10Speaker 5: Described as profoundly shocking? There are some allegations against Cesar Chavez.
- 9:20Speaker 1: A lot of.
- 9:24Speaker 5: You know, a lot of the celebrations that would be
- 9:26Speaker 5: coming up for Caesar Javes Day are being canceled, and
- 9:31Speaker 5: not just here in Los Angeles, but all over the place.
- 9:36Speaker 5: San Antonio, Uh, you know, Texas, You've got Houston, Tucson,
- 9:40Speaker 5: Corpus CHRISTI just all these events that would normally be
- 9:46Speaker 5: honoring a Chavez are being canceled right now with allegations,
- 9:52Speaker 5: so we don't know a whole lot about. There are
- 9:55Speaker 5: allegations family issues in there, but also U locations involving
- 10:00Speaker 5: abuse of young women or miners.
- 10:03Speaker 2: Yeah. I'm going to be.
- 10:04Speaker 3: Doing this story at seven o'clock because this is one
- 10:09Speaker 3: interesting story and a couple of spins I want to
- 10:12Speaker 3: put on it.
- 10:13Speaker 2: In a little bit of history and some.
- 10:15Speaker 3: Analogies I want to make This is a pretty important
- 10:19Speaker 3: story and it's just fascinating, especially since Caesar Chadez was
- 10:23Speaker 3: a California resident. It all happened here actually in the
- 10:26Speaker 3: Central Valley with the grape strike, and he.
- 10:30Speaker 2: Did some incredible things.
- 10:32Speaker 3: And also he did some incredible things, So we'll talk
- 10:34Speaker 3: about that coming up.
- 10:37Speaker 4: Mama Bear has been put down. The city of Monrovia
- 10:43Speaker 4: says a female bear that took a swipe at a
- 10:45Speaker 4: woman who was out walking her dog over the weekend
- 10:48Speaker 4: had to be euthanized. The California Department of Fish and
- 10:51Speaker 4: Wildlife determined that the same bear had been involved in
- 10:55Speaker 4: another incident last June, where another resident of Manrobia Monrovia,
- 11:01Speaker 4: was swiped at by the bear and was injured. They
- 11:03Speaker 4: said that that caused them sufficient justification to euthanize the bear.
- 11:11Speaker 4: And the bear had two cubs, and the cubs have
- 11:13Speaker 4: been relocated to a facility where they will eventually be
- 11:19Speaker 4: reintroduced into the wild.
- 11:22Speaker 1: Sad it sucks. How long do cubs stay with their
- 11:27Speaker 1: their mom?
- 11:31Speaker 4: I think it's a couple of years, but I'm not sure.
- 11:34Speaker 5: Well, that's too bad already, So Supreme Court Justice John
- 11:41Speaker 5: Roberts says.
- 11:42Speaker 2: Hang on a second, am, I I'm hearing some static.
- 11:44Speaker 2: Are you hearing static? Kno? Or is that just me?
- 11:47Speaker 1: Is that me?
- 11:48Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 11:48Speaker 2: It's you?
- 11:51Speaker 1: Well okay, so Caesar Chavez now me?
- 11:54Speaker 3: Yeah, no, no, no, you're it's very funny. Now you're
- 11:57Speaker 3: it's static coming in. It's frankly, I don't even know
- 11:59Speaker 3: why interrupting because when the static interrupts, your segment of
- 12:03Speaker 3: the show is far better. But is all right, let's
- 12:07Speaker 3: just keep on going because it's very disconcerting. I just
- 12:11Speaker 3: want to point that out so people really pay attention
- 12:14Speaker 3: to it. Moving on, Neil, you want me to better?
- 12:18Speaker 5: Okay, all right, So you've got John Roberts saying, stop
- 12:22Speaker 5: with the hostility, mister president. You've got Trump saying that
- 12:28Speaker 5: the completely inept and embarrassing court was not what the
- 12:32Speaker 5: Supreme Court.
- 12:33Speaker 1: Of the United States was set up to be.
- 12:35Speaker 5: By our wonderful founders, and then Roberts is saying, you
- 12:39Speaker 5: know what, You've got all these negative remarks.
- 12:43Speaker 1: They got to stop. I actually, if you Trump is right.
- 12:48Speaker 3: If you read the original Federalist papers, the founding fathers
- 12:52Speaker 3: wrote specifically writing that we intend on the court upholding
- 12:58Speaker 3: everything that President Trump says and does, and that is
- 13:01Speaker 3: our intent. Yeah, so if the court rules against them,
- 13:07Speaker 3: it's not just I disagree with the court, but of
- 13:10Speaker 3: course this court interprets the law of the land. It's
- 13:14Speaker 3: this completely inept and embarrassing court. I mean that's well,
- 13:19Speaker 3: what if they agree with you, are they still inept?
- 13:22Speaker 1: No?
- 13:22Speaker 3: No, No, if they agree with you, it's they are
- 13:25Speaker 3: a court that we should Yeah for ever, Yeah, exactly.
- 13:33Speaker 4: Did you hear that? An asteroid weighing about seven tons
- 13:37Speaker 4: going forty five thousand miles per hours zoomed over several
- 13:40Speaker 4: states on Tuesday morning, late, lighting up the sky and
- 13:45Speaker 4: causing a loud boom that some residents thought was an explosion.
- 13:49Speaker 4: The bright fireball could be seen moments before nine a m.
- 13:53Speaker 4: Eastern time. NASA says the sound happened because the asteroid
- 13:59Speaker 4: fragment resulting in a pressure wave that reached the ground
- 14:03Speaker 4: like a sonic boom.
- 14:05Speaker 3: Yeah, where people were reporting that the ground, I mean
- 14:08Speaker 3: it shook like a bomb had exploded next door.
- 14:11Speaker 2: Did you see the video of this thing?
- 14:13Speaker 3: No, it is one you want to take a look
- 14:16Speaker 3: at that you can YouTube and I'm sure it is
- 14:18Speaker 3: just spectacular as it breaks up and I'm assuming parts
- 14:23Speaker 3: of it were they're going to find parts and pieces
- 14:25Speaker 3: of it because that's a you know, it's a lot
- 14:27Speaker 3: of asteroid.
- 14:29Speaker 1: That's one big ass yeah.
- 14:31Speaker 2: De terroid. Okay.
- 14:34Speaker 5: So after the wild failures that took place and Edison
- 14:39Speaker 5: was looked at, Edison International has looked at for the
- 14:43Speaker 5: concerns some of their senior executives had cash bonuses cut
- 14:51Speaker 5: and they cited the wildfires, of course, but now looking
- 14:56Speaker 5: and doing an investigation, La Times have found that Edison
- 14:59Speaker 5: in International boosted the pay of its top executive last year.
- 15:05Speaker 5: But despite the responsibility for the safety of the company's
- 15:09Speaker 5: power lines and all that, the devastation that took place
- 15:12Speaker 5: in the eaton fires.
- 15:14Speaker 3: I just kind of stunted this because I was under
- 15:16Speaker 3: the impression that so Cal Edison was a quasi nonprofit
- 15:22Speaker 3: or a municipality in terms of its makeup.
- 15:28Speaker 1: Obviously not a man.
- 15:29Speaker 3: Yeah, obviously not sixteen and a half million dollars in
- 15:33Speaker 3: compensation for the CEO.
- 15:34Speaker 5: Yeah, they're percent from twenty twenty four, by the way.
- 15:38Speaker 2: Crazy. And then you have the president of.
- 15:43Speaker 3: Right, Pedro Pizarro, chief executive the parent company of so
- 15:46Speaker 3: Cal Edison, and then Steve Powell, who was president of
- 15:50Speaker 3: so Cal Edison. He got a raise of more than
- 15:54Speaker 3: sixty five percent and he only gets six and a
- 15:57Speaker 3: half million dollars last year.
- 15:59Speaker 2: Boy, that's a good only.
- 16:01Speaker 4: Yeah, it looks like Bondi's gonna get grilled. The Attorney
- 16:05Speaker 4: General has been subpoenaed to answer questions from Congress about
- 16:09Speaker 4: the Justice Department's sex trafficking investigation into Jeffrey Epstein and
- 16:14Speaker 4: how the agency held and handled millions of files related
- 16:18Speaker 4: to him. Bondi was ordered to appear for deposition April
- 16:22Speaker 4: fourteenth by the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform after
- 16:25Speaker 4: a vote was held earlier this month that was supported
- 16:27Speaker 4: by five Republicans as well.
- 16:30Speaker 2: Yeah, be prepared for lots of fireworks.
- 16:33Speaker 3: It used to be where everybody was, if not cowed,
- 16:37Speaker 3: very respectful of congressional hearings, front of senators, in front
- 16:42Speaker 3: of congress people, and you know they bowed a lot
- 16:47Speaker 3: and treated them with a great respect.
- 16:50Speaker 2: Pam Bondi.
- 16:51Speaker 3: The last time she was in front of I think
- 16:54Speaker 3: it was a congressional hearing just a few weeks ago,
- 16:57Speaker 3: just laid into the committee when they ask questions, They say,
- 17:02Speaker 3: you shouldn't be asking me that you have no business
- 17:05Speaker 3: asking me, that you should be talking about how great
- 17:08Speaker 3: the economy is under our great president. This is the
- 17:11Speaker 3: attorney general. What the hell does the attorney general know
- 17:15Speaker 3: anything about the economy. So you're going to see some
- 17:18Speaker 3: real fireworks going on.
- 17:21Speaker 2: She loves not back.
- 17:22Speaker 5: I love when you do Trump cabinet voice. It's the
- 17:25Speaker 5: same for all of them. Care Yeah, that's all the
- 17:30Speaker 5: people that work for Trump. The voice is the same.
- 17:32Speaker 5: How care you talk to me that way? I work
- 17:36Speaker 5: for Trump.
- 17:37Speaker 2: No, that wasn't an impression. That is just by making
- 17:40Speaker 2: you know I'm.
- 17:43Speaker 3: I'm Trump's friend anyway, Pam Bondy. She is among the
- 17:50Speaker 3: most contentious cabinet members I have ever seen in front
- 17:54Speaker 3: of in front of Congress and these hearings, and to
- 17:58Speaker 3: an extent, it's, you know, I'm sort of kind of
- 18:01Speaker 3: marginally on her side because it used to be that
- 18:04Speaker 3: the committee members would scream and rail into witnesses, and
- 18:09Speaker 3: now the witnesses, particularly Pambondi, aren't taking it. They're throwing
- 18:13Speaker 3: it right back. I like it because it's so damn entertaining.
- 18:17Speaker 5: His cabinet does or anybody that works to him for
- 18:21Speaker 5: him does kind of respond like, how dare you ask anything?
- 18:26Speaker 1: I guess all right, Trump administration.
- 18:30Speaker 5: We originally thought he was going to pull all all
- 18:34Speaker 5: the monies out of California, but it looks like he's
- 18:36Speaker 5: putting some monies into California. Five hundred and forty million
- 18:41Speaker 5: dollars to be exact, for a California water project. The
- 18:45Speaker 5: largest share, two hundred and thirty five million, is going
- 18:48Speaker 5: to be used to rehabilitate the Delta Mendota Canal. Is
- 18:53Speaker 5: that right that carries water to farmlands and he's that's
- 18:58Speaker 5: been a big deal for him. And additional two hundred
- 19:00Speaker 5: million will help continue repairs for the Fryan Kern Canal
- 19:07Speaker 5: and that's another big conduit of water to the valley.
- 19:11Speaker 3: Yeah, it's all because of the aquifer. Groundwater is being
- 19:17Speaker 3: pumped out. I mean, we're going to have a sinkhole
- 19:20Speaker 3: in the middle of California that's going to go hundreds
- 19:23Speaker 3: of miles across. I mean, it's pretty crazy. Here's my question, Amy,
- 19:27Speaker 3: you may know it is the amount of money that's
- 19:30Speaker 3: being spent.
- 19:31Speaker 2: How much was asked for and how much was cut overall?
- 19:35Speaker 3: Because the story doesn't tell us, because this could be
- 19:38Speaker 3: virtually all the money asked for, or it could be
- 19:40Speaker 3: a fraction of what was asked for and normally California
- 19:45Speaker 3: would get I do not have that information, Okay, hand, Yeah,
- 19:49Speaker 3: I didn't either, So I went to use to embarrass you.
- 19:51Speaker 2: Thank you. You're welcome. By the way, I knew you
- 19:54Speaker 2: didn't know. That's why I asked.
- 19:56Speaker 4: All right, rally today it could be a prelude to
- 20:02Speaker 4: a strike. Leaders of the LA Teachers' Union expected on Wednesday,
- 20:08Speaker 4: that's today, to announce a date of a strike that,
- 20:11Speaker 4: if carried out, would interrupt the education of three hundred
- 20:13Speaker 4: and ninety thousand students. There's a massive rally planned for
- 20:18Speaker 4: later this afternoon in Gloria Molina Grand Park across from
- 20:22Speaker 4: City Hall downtown. Once a strike data set, it doesn't
- 20:26Speaker 4: mean that a walkout is inevitable, but they say they
- 20:30Speaker 4: would threaten to strike if they don't get a deal
- 20:32Speaker 4: they want like seventeen percent pay raiss.
- 20:34Speaker 3: Yeah, over the next two years, also raising pay for
- 20:39Speaker 3: what early career teachers eighty thousand dollars and the top
- 20:43Speaker 3: raight is one hundred and thirty three hundred and thirty
- 20:44Speaker 3: four thousand dollars. Seems like, you know, teachers can make
- 20:47Speaker 3: a pretty good buck considering they work what nine months
- 20:50Speaker 3: a year and three months are off. Now it could
- 20:55Speaker 3: be very brutal to be a teacher. I mean depends
- 20:59Speaker 3: on what subject. English teachers, it's insane because you're grading papers.
- 21:03Speaker 3: You're going crazy. Shop teachers, that's that's easily a wood
- 21:08Speaker 3: shot teacher. Or all you have to do is count
- 21:09Speaker 3: fingers in your on your hands and you never reached ten.
- 21:14Speaker 2: Okay, moving on. That was a wood shot teacher joke.
- 21:18Speaker 1: No heard it.
- 21:19Speaker 2: I understood. I had a woodshot teacher with missing fingers.
- 21:24Speaker 5: I had a I had a principle with three missing fingers.
- 21:30Speaker 2: Oh came up through the ranks as a shot teacher.
- 21:34Speaker 5: They when you got in a fight, they didn't stop it.
- 21:37Speaker 5: They moved you into the auditorium, put gloves on, and
- 21:39Speaker 5: you had to finish. I went to a very strange school.
- 21:44Speaker 2: That seems very strange.
- 21:45Speaker 5: Alrighty, So uh, you're gonna look back on the airport
- 21:50Speaker 5: and go man, I miss those really long lines because
- 21:53Speaker 5: it looks like there's at least a possibility because of
- 21:57Speaker 5: the partial federal shutdown, the TSA officers being unpaid, some
- 22:04Speaker 5: of them calling out that they might shut start shutting
- 22:07Speaker 5: down airports, probably the smaller ones first, I would imagine,
- 22:10Speaker 5: but if they don't get some funding, they may be closing.
- 22:17Speaker 3: Some are yeah it's not get some well, yeah, I'll
- 22:19Speaker 3: allow TSA workers agents to get paid.
- 22:24Speaker 2: And a lot of them we're quitting saying we need work.
- 22:26Speaker 2: We can't.
- 22:27Speaker 3: You know, we still have to pay the landlord. You know,
- 22:29Speaker 3: go go to the grocery stores. They still want money.
- 22:32Speaker 1: What do you think they make?
- 22:34Speaker 2: Not very much, just like an hourly rate.
- 22:37Speaker 3: Yeah, I would guess in the range of twenty five
- 22:39Speaker 3: twenty seven dollars an hour relative to government employees. I
- 22:44Speaker 3: don't know the answer, And twenty five or twenty seven
- 22:46Speaker 3: dollars an hour. Very difficult to live on in here
- 22:49Speaker 3: in southern California.
- 22:51Speaker 2: Right, Kono, make less of that? Yeah, very very impressive.
- 22:56Speaker 2: Welcome die Hard.
- 22:58Speaker 4: Okay, an't the only one not watching The ninety eighth
- 23:02Speaker 4: Oscars average seventeen point nine million viewers. That's nine percent
- 23:07Speaker 4: down from last year's telecast ratings for the Oscars crater
- 23:12Speaker 4: to an all time low of ten and a half
- 23:13Speaker 4: million in twenty twenty one. It had been rebounding after that,
- 23:18Speaker 4: but on its way back down.
- 23:20Speaker 2: Are you surprised you watch it?
- 23:22Speaker 3: Right?
- 23:22Speaker 2: Amy?
- 23:22Speaker 1: I did?
- 23:23Speaker 3: Are you surprised that their politics were not a big
- 23:27Speaker 3: deal this year? I was fully expecting Trump issues to
- 23:31Speaker 3: be exploding, and because you know, Hollywood's liberal.
- 23:36Speaker 4: I it was I surprised. I was not surprised. I
- 23:42Speaker 4: thought that maybe they were told to tone it down.
- 23:46Speaker 5: Oh I'm sure, But then from really Conan O'Brien's mo o,
- 23:51Speaker 5: but I think you're.
- 23:52Speaker 4: Talking about the presenters in the.
- 23:54Speaker 2: All I'm talking about.
- 23:56Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm talking about the award winners who they just
- 24:00Speaker 3: a time element.
- 24:01Speaker 2: That's it, that's all there.
- 24:04Speaker 5: I hate the Jews, free Palestine type stuff, now, that
- 24:08Speaker 5: was just having erbo dam Okay, there's a solid one
- 24:13Speaker 5: right there.
- 24:13Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 24:14Speaker 4: I think he was the only one who did a
- 24:15Speaker 4: free Palestine thing. And then Jimmy Kimmel of course made.
- 24:19Speaker 3: A couple of swipes and on the way out, was
- 24:22Speaker 3: he shot at by a couple of Israelis?
- 24:24Speaker 2: No? Probably not. Okay, we got a couple more stories.
- 24:29Speaker 5: So we've been hearing about people getting tied up and
- 24:32Speaker 5: twisted into the Epstein private island interest and case. Now
- 24:37Speaker 5: a pastor in Missouri was suspended last week. Effort was
- 24:42Speaker 5: discovered not only did she had been to the island,
- 24:46Speaker 5: but she worked for and managed the private island of
- 24:51Speaker 5: the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein for nearly a year.
- 24:54Speaker 5: And the timeline is strange because she worked from August
- 25:00Speaker 5: twenty eighteen to May twenty nineteen. Epstein was arrested just
- 25:05Speaker 5: two months later July nineteen, for sex trafficking crimes. And
- 25:11Speaker 5: she said she never saw anything, but she she knew
- 25:15Speaker 5: something because she knew he was a sex offender when
- 25:19Speaker 5: she went and worked.
- 25:19Speaker 3: Yeah, that alone, I think would be a little problematic.
- 25:24Speaker 3: And if you believe her, which I do, that she
- 25:25Speaker 3: never saw Epstein commit abuse because I think he did
- 25:30Speaker 3: it publicly.
- 25:31Speaker 2: I think he did it reasonably privately.
- 25:33Speaker 3: The fact that she knew he was a registered sex
- 25:36Speaker 3: offender and still took the job, that's problematic. And by
- 25:39Speaker 3: the way, her suspension is temporary. It's only ninety days.
- 25:43Speaker 4: Did she become Did she become a pastor after she
- 25:46Speaker 4: worked for Epstein?
- 25:49Speaker 2: You know what?
- 25:49Speaker 5: At the time, I don't know that timeline, but it
- 25:53Speaker 5: is interesting.
- 25:55Speaker 2: All right, where's done, guys? Go ahead.
- 25:57Speaker 4: Oh, I just thought this was a good one, good
- 26:00Speaker 4: on an old promise.
- 26:01Speaker 3: Yeah, Indians have been screwed traditionally, and now the government's
- 26:05Speaker 3: going to give Native Americans.
- 26:07Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 26:08Speaker 4: California has unveiled a plan to bring at least seven
- 26:11Speaker 4: and a half million acres of land in coastal waters
- 26:13Speaker 4: under the care of an indigenous tribes. This is why
- 26:16Speaker 4: it's interesting that seven percent of the state's land. It
- 26:21Speaker 4: was promised to them by the federal government. They said,
- 26:24Speaker 4: we'll hold this for reservations and indigenous tribes. After California
- 26:29Speaker 4: joined the Union in eighteen fifty was part of the deal,
- 26:31Speaker 4: and then Congress rejected the treaties in a secret meeting
- 26:35Speaker 4: after pressure from the state of California and didn't bother
- 26:38Speaker 4: to tell the tribes.
- 26:39Speaker 3: Now, do you know how many treaties have actually been
- 26:42Speaker 3: upheld by the US government with the Native American tribes?
- 26:45Speaker 2: Do you know the number?
- 26:47Speaker 1: Is it zero?
- 26:48Speaker 2: It is zero?
- 26:48Speaker 4: Is it really?
- 26:49Speaker 2: Yow? Yep?
- 26:50Speaker 3: It's just crazy how this government treated Native Americans, which
- 26:55Speaker 3: is why whenever they want a license for bingo or gambling,
- 26:58Speaker 3: I'm always in favor of it because it was just
- 27:02Speaker 3: crazy stuff. All right, we're done now. Coming up that
- 27:05Speaker 3: Caesar Chavez story that is really interesting and I'm going
- 27:09Speaker 3: to make an analogy to something that happened in the
- 27:12Speaker 3: UK that I was looking at a little bit of history.
- 27:16Speaker 2: We'll be back with that. Kf I am six forty.
- 27:19Speaker 2: You've been listening to the Bill Handle Show.
