- 0:00Speaker 1: I will say this, We're gonna start with a positive thing.
- 0:02Speaker 1: I think I great positive start for the piggyback. If
- 0:06Speaker 1: they want to continue the piggyback. I think it went well.
- 0:09Speaker 1: You just gotta know the feel of the game. You
- 0:12Speaker 1: gotta know Castillo doesn't need to go that third in
- 0:15Speaker 1: and you don't need to put him in the ninth.
- 0:16Speaker 1: Regardless of what plan you have, you got to read
- 0:20Speaker 1: the room. You gotta read the situation. You have a
- 0:22Speaker 1: one nothing lead, you have had one hit. You got
- 0:25Speaker 1: to protect that lead. Mooney is the safer choice, the
- 0:28Speaker 1: better choice. Could Mooney have still blown the one nothing lead? Absolutely,
- 0:32Speaker 1: We've seen him do it before. But I think most
- 0:34Speaker 1: people feel better having Mooney go in and mess things
- 0:38Speaker 1: up than seeing Castillo stay in and mess things up.
- 0:41Speaker 1: I feel like you could probably agree with that. And
- 0:43Speaker 1: that's what That's the gist of what I saw on
- 0:45Speaker 1: X right. Yes, okay, So I'm just gonna go through
- 0:48Speaker 1: the notes that I.
- 0:49Speaker 2: Took as I was watching the game.
- 0:50Speaker 1: Okay, okay, okay, Yeah, So I have Oh, we leave
- 0:54Speaker 1: the bases loaded in the first Is that gonna come
- 0:56Speaker 1: back to haunt us?
- 0:59Speaker 3: Well?
- 0:59Speaker 2: I think it came back to haunt us.
- 1:00Speaker 3: That definitely didn't help. Can you get a run? Yeah,
- 1:03Speaker 3: run all run, all run.
- 1:05Speaker 2: One more hit would be great.
- 1:07Speaker 1: Miller goes five and two thirds innings for rare, finishes sixth.
- 1:10Speaker 1: Then Castillo is pig piggyback plan already a success?
- 1:15Speaker 2: Okay?
- 1:16Speaker 1: After Castillo goes three up, three down in the seventh,
- 1:19Speaker 1: is piggyback the best idea ever? These are my notes
- 1:23Speaker 1: that I'm taking as I'm watching the game. REFS Nighter
- 1:26Speaker 1: still in in the seventh, over four could have gone
- 1:29Speaker 1: to can zone?
- 1:31Speaker 2: Where's Rayley? How are lefties our kryptonite? Why do we
- 1:35Speaker 2: keep doing this?
- 1:37Speaker 1: Have lefty righting matchups ever been as big of an
- 1:40Speaker 1: issue as they are these days?
- 1:41Speaker 2: Or are we just overthinking everything? Just play baseball, damn it?
- 1:45Speaker 3: Literally?
- 1:45Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 1:46Speaker 1: And then the ongoing theme throughout the night was what
- 1:49Speaker 1: is the tarps off movement? And why are we embracing it?
- 1:52Speaker 1: They just kept showing the shirtless people in the top
- 1:54Speaker 1: waving their shirts.
- 1:56Speaker 2: I was like, what is happening? I don't understand what
- 1:58Speaker 2: this is?
- 1:58Speaker 1: And those were the all the could that I kind
- 2:01Speaker 1: of took notes of throughout the game until we got.
- 2:04Speaker 2: To the ninth and then it was chaos, chaos, chaos.
- 2:08Speaker 2: What notes did you take throughout the game?
- 2:10Speaker 3: I it was after the game war so but anything,
- 2:14Speaker 3: it's a division that's keeping this team alive, which is
- 2:17Speaker 3: kind of crazy to say. But the American League West,
- 2:20Speaker 3: apparently not having a dominant team right now, is working
- 2:23Speaker 3: in the mariners favor, thank goodness. And that matters because
- 2:26Speaker 3: what the Seattle Mariners strengths are with pitching depth and
- 2:31Speaker 3: those high end arms, are those the kind of things
- 2:34Speaker 3: that can fuel the second half for the offense even
- 2:39Speaker 3: if it is league average, which I don't know, are
- 2:41Speaker 3: they league average or below? Like with this team right now,
- 2:44Speaker 3: I'm concerned that, yeah, the division stinks, but what about
- 2:48Speaker 3: the other teams around it? Like when you get to
- 2:50Speaker 3: that playoffs. Yeah, it's cool that you're let's say you
- 2:53Speaker 3: win a division with a terrible record, but you're not
- 2:56Speaker 3: going to face probably a terrible team in the same
- 2:58Speaker 3: and not the same, but in the conference, you're gonna
- 3:00Speaker 3: face a better team. And my fear is that if
- 3:03Speaker 3: this lingers and becomes we're in July and we're like, damn,
- 3:07Speaker 3: we're still having that. The Manners are still having that
- 3:09Speaker 3: inconsistency with offense, but the pitching is good or the
- 3:12Speaker 3: pitching was bad. This night, the offense exploded, but they
- 3:15Speaker 3: still lost ten to nine. There's just they don't have
- 3:18Speaker 3: an identity still that that's a big concern. So I
- 3:21Speaker 3: guess the big if Julio just gets smoking hot and
- 3:26Speaker 3: the bullpen stabilizes, is that enough for this next ten games?
- 3:30Speaker 3: Let's just say that, right, the next ten games, because
- 3:32Speaker 3: Kyle could potentially be back. We'll see how things plan out.
- 3:35Speaker 3: But I think that's kind of like, hey, we need
- 3:38Speaker 3: you to be hot, Julio and hopefully everything else works out.
- 3:41Speaker 3: And I think that's a big ask right now, especially
- 3:43Speaker 3: with the injuries that are going on. How about the
- 3:46Speaker 3: team just playing better.
- 3:48Speaker 1: We just mean, we talked about yesterday consistency, right, it's
- 3:50Speaker 1: going to be consistency.
- 3:52Speaker 3: We talked with a win. They didn't lose that game,
- 3:55Speaker 3: which would have sucked, but here they are now one
- 3:58Speaker 3: to one. Obviously, just win the series and you put
- 4:01Speaker 3: to rest some of the concerns depending on how you
- 4:04Speaker 3: win this afternoon. But I'm just like, man, this feels
- 4:09Speaker 3: like maybe this is a stretch. Maybe I'm asking too
- 4:11Speaker 3: much of this team to to make a postseason run.
- 4:14Speaker 3: Albeit I look on paper, I'm like, this is a
- 4:16Speaker 3: really good roster.
- 4:17Speaker 1: I got it feels like something we should be able
- 4:19Speaker 1: to ask this team, and especially given that we where
- 4:22Speaker 1: we are in the American League West and how poorly
- 4:24Speaker 1: the division is is performing. And I think that's what
- 4:27Speaker 1: makes people even more frustrated, right we are.
- 4:29Speaker 2: Everybody looks at it and says.
- 4:31Speaker 1: Gosh, thank god we're in the American League West, because
- 4:33Speaker 1: if we're in any other division, we're already out of it.
- 4:35Speaker 1: I mean not really, but essentially it feels that way,
- 4:38Speaker 1: right And so you look at this crappy division and think,
- 4:41Speaker 1: how are we not at least winning a crappy division.
- 4:44Speaker 1: If we can't do that, you know, if we can't
- 4:46Speaker 1: be on top of a crappy division right now, we
- 4:48Speaker 1: are host And.
- 4:49Speaker 2: I get that frustration.
- 4:51Speaker 1: I got the frustration last night with people angry that
- 4:55Speaker 1: Luis Castile went in in the ninth and he did
- 4:57Speaker 1: well in the two innings pitch the.
- 4:59Speaker 2: Piggyback, I thought, was great.
- 5:00Speaker 1: You had Ferrer come in as a bridge, which we
- 5:02Speaker 1: knew was going to happen, that it was most likely
- 5:04Speaker 1: not going to go straight from Miller to Castillo and
- 5:07Speaker 1: I thought the whole thing up until that point was
- 5:09Speaker 1: a success, and then unfortunately we were left with what
- 5:13Speaker 1: I knew was going to be an issue. You've got Castillo,
- 5:16Speaker 1: who did his job, yeah, and the Mariners thinking.
- 5:20Speaker 2: We could get a little bit more out of him.
- 5:22Speaker 1: We had planned for him to go three at three
- 5:25Speaker 1: innings at least, so why not have him go in
- 5:28Speaker 1: the ninth? Well, the ninth is an entirely different situation.
- 5:32Speaker 1: He's not used to something like that, and they stuck
- 5:35Speaker 1: to their plan. I put out on Twitter, anyone, I
- 5:37Speaker 1: can't believe people are surprised by this. I'm not defending it.
- 5:41Speaker 1: I don't think it was the right move. But if
- 5:43Speaker 1: you're watching this team at all this year and you're
- 5:45Speaker 1: surprised that they're sticking to a plan that they created,
- 5:49Speaker 1: then you're not paying very close attention, because.
- 5:51Speaker 2: That is how they operate.
- 5:53Speaker 1: They have a plan, They do not deviate from their
- 5:56Speaker 1: plans very often. Nine times out of ten, that plan
- 5:59Speaker 1: is the way that they're going and that's it. And
- 6:01Speaker 1: it's frustrating. We've all been frustrated watching already all this season.
- 6:05Speaker 1: So what would why why would we think that they
- 6:09Speaker 1: would go into that last night and then all of
- 6:11Speaker 1: a sudden deviate from their plan and kind of base
- 6:16Speaker 1: things on a feel for the game.
- 6:17Speaker 2: They haven't done it yet, why would we think they'd start.
- 6:20Speaker 3: Yeah, that's a big question. Their record probably under sells
- 6:24Speaker 3: and then accurately reflects them at the same time. And
- 6:26Speaker 3: then I read Daniel Kramer's piece last night where Miller
- 6:29Speaker 3: comment it's kind of revealing. He states, we very easily
- 6:33Speaker 3: could be a five to ten games up right now.
- 6:36Speaker 3: And no, he's not wrong. Seattle has probably played better
- 6:39Speaker 3: than that twenty three twenty seven stretches showing, but a
- 6:42Speaker 3: lot of their losses seem to be one or two
- 6:46Speaker 3: plays away, or a mistake here and there. But the
- 6:49Speaker 3: good teams, I think they find that they find that
- 6:52Speaker 3: consistency and they avoid these droughts and the capitol the
- 6:59Speaker 3: capitalize when their opponents crack. The Mariners are not doing
- 7:03Speaker 3: that right now.
- 7:04Speaker 2: And we are the ones cracking and other people are capitalizing.
- 7:06Speaker 3: Literally, So maybe it's unlucky. I know, the injuries bug
- 7:11Speaker 3: is that's just unlucky. You can't do anything about that.
- 7:15Speaker 3: Teams are going to go through that.
- 7:16Speaker 1: Yeah, but we can't even really blame anything on that,
- 7:18Speaker 1: right considering we have now healthy.
- 7:21Speaker 2: And with Brennan Donovan healthy, we still work.
- 7:22Speaker 3: With That was gonna be my next point. It's like, well,
- 7:24Speaker 3: christ you state that, but then they didn't do much
- 7:26Speaker 3: when they were playing. Yeah, yeah, that's true as well.
- 7:29Speaker 3: But I was banking on them being better as the
- 7:31Speaker 3: season progressed. But now there's a stretch where you're not
- 7:34Speaker 3: gonna even have them. You don't even get to see
- 7:36Speaker 3: that growth. You're just like, oh, well, when they go
- 7:38Speaker 3: to Tacoma smacking some homers, Okay, they feel good, they're
- 7:41Speaker 3: getting on base. Bring them back in and hopefully the
- 7:44Speaker 3: Mariners are not in a rut still, Hopefully they're closer
- 7:46Speaker 3: to five hundred instead of being so far below it
- 7:49Speaker 3: right now. And my concern is that the inconsistent inconsistencies
- 7:55Speaker 3: continue and we're having a darker conversation come late June
- 8:01Speaker 3: and we're like, Jesus, Jess Louise, this is not what
- 8:03Speaker 3: we expected from this team, considering where they were last season,
- 8:09Speaker 3: how improved some of the players are on this roster,
- 8:12Speaker 3: what they're doing, and that that would just really stink.
- 8:15Speaker 3: So I'm hoping that things can turn around, but I'm
- 8:18Speaker 3: imagine the text line is like, kid, don't be so
- 8:20Speaker 3: full of it. It's a rap and I don't want to.
- 8:22Speaker 2: Oh, there's a lot of people that have already given it,
- 8:24Speaker 2: and I'm sure of it.
- 8:25Speaker 1: Yeah, it's because the frustration, which is totally valid, is
- 8:28Speaker 1: just increasing.
- 8:29Speaker 3: We saw that last year when they were struggling.
- 8:32Speaker 2: Yeah, it's gonna happen.
- 8:33Speaker 1: I mean that is this team, This team, more than
- 8:36Speaker 1: any other team, has such an ability to pull anger
- 8:40Speaker 1: and frustration.
- 8:41Speaker 2: Out of its fan base.
- 8:42Speaker 1: And it's because, you know, fifty years of just wanting
- 8:45Speaker 1: this team to succeed, and we get it so few
- 8:48Speaker 1: and far between that it's like all of this angst,
- 8:51Speaker 1: all of this energy that we are pouring into trying
- 8:54Speaker 1: to will this team to be good, and you know,
- 8:56Speaker 1: and then what do we get. We get games like
- 8:58Speaker 1: last night where we get one hit, one run, and
- 9:01Speaker 1: then so many people angry that Castilla went in in
- 9:04Speaker 1: the ninth and put runners on and then Mooney had
- 9:07Speaker 1: to come in in a difficult situation and obviously that
- 9:09Speaker 1: didn't work out. That's not on Mooney. It's also not
- 9:12Speaker 1: on Castile. It's if you have more than one run,
- 9:16Speaker 1: one hit, you should be winning that game. Yeah, your
- 9:20Speaker 1: pitching staff gave up four hits and two runs.
- 9:22Speaker 2: That is enough. They did their job.
- 9:24Speaker 3: Me and you can go out there and maybe get
- 9:26Speaker 3: a butt. Right.
- 9:27Speaker 1: There is literally no team in Major League Baseball that
- 9:30Speaker 1: starts their season and thinks, Okay, we've got to look
- 9:32Speaker 1: at our goals for this season.
- 9:33Speaker 2: I think I'm gonna make my goal.
- 9:35Speaker 1: You know what, Let's just have our pitching staff only
- 9:37Speaker 1: give up four hits and two runs every game and
- 9:39Speaker 1: we'll be good. No, no, nobody ever thinks that that's all.
- 9:43Speaker 1: That's what they should expect from a pitching staff on
- 9:45Speaker 1: a game and game out basis. But every single Major
- 9:49Speaker 1: League Baseball team looks at their goals for the season
- 9:52Speaker 1: and says, we got to make sure we get more
- 9:54Speaker 1: than one hit every damn game. Yeah, and that is
- 9:58Speaker 1: the fact. I mean, the off is struggling. It is
- 10:01Speaker 1: frustrating to watch. Yes, there were multiple reasons we lost
- 10:04Speaker 1: that game. We can question till we are blue in
- 10:07Speaker 1: the face about why Luis Castillo went in to start
- 10:09Speaker 1: the ninth and Andres Munnos didn't. We can absolutely do that.
- 10:12Speaker 1: It is a valid thing to wonder. It is just
- 10:17Speaker 1: not something we should be surprised by. But the one
- 10:20Speaker 1: thing you said, you know, you've brought up consistency. The
- 10:23Speaker 1: one thing that we are consistent at is not being
- 10:26Speaker 1: consistent at the plate.
- 10:27Speaker 3: That's bad. It reminds me of the control of the zone,
- 10:31Speaker 3: the resilience, the upbeatness of this team, and I'm not
- 10:34Speaker 3: seeing that right now. And I wonder, at some point
- 10:37Speaker 3: do and these repeated tough losses by a run or
- 10:43Speaker 3: two runs, whatever the case may be, is the clubhouse
- 10:46Speaker 3: starting to be in disbelief that, man, this lead pitch,
- 10:49Speaker 3: lead pitching is is going wasted because offensively, we're not
- 10:53Speaker 3: doing our part. How long does that that and how
- 10:57Speaker 3: long does that rub on or does it wear off?
- 11:00Speaker 3: At what point do they are they just like, man,
- 11:02Speaker 3: we're exhausted. We are letting these guys down by not
- 11:05Speaker 3: doing our part, because it's a team thing at the
- 11:07Speaker 3: end of the day, and you can only ask so
- 11:10Speaker 3: much of your pictures.
- 11:10Speaker 1: Yeah, Felix Hernandez is like, hold my beer, like you know,
- 11:14Speaker 1: this is this is the one again, the one consistent
- 11:18Speaker 1: thing that the Mariners have is their lack of consistency
- 11:22Speaker 1: at the plate. And it's not just this season. This
- 11:24Speaker 1: is an ongoing thing. We are offense continually struggles. I
- 11:28Speaker 1: mean to the point where we have had articles written
- 11:30Speaker 1: about is it the ballpark is I mean all sorts
- 11:33Speaker 1: of things with people trying to figure out why this
- 11:36Speaker 1: team struggles so much at the plate. So none of
- 11:38Speaker 1: that should be surprising, but all of it needs to
- 11:41Speaker 1: be focused on because that is what we need to
- 11:42Speaker 1: fix and everything else. Again, you have more than one
- 11:46Speaker 1: hit when one run in that game, and I you're
- 11:48Speaker 1: winning that game last night. You are going to win
- 11:50Speaker 1: that game, and it's just frustrating that we ended up
- 11:56Speaker 1: losing it in such a you know, just gut punching
- 12:00Speaker 1: way and where it almost you know, for so many
- 12:03Speaker 1: people kind of fell on the pitching staff, which it
- 12:05Speaker 1: never should have because they did their damn job.
- 12:07Speaker 3: Yeah. I don't want to put too much on Munos,
- 12:09Speaker 3: oh my goodness, can you?
- 12:10Speaker 1: And nothing not on Castillo either. He did what he
- 12:12Speaker 1: was supposed to do. He went out when he was
- 12:14Speaker 1: supposed to go out. Did they leave him out too long? Yes?
- 12:16Speaker 3: Yeah, I know a lot of people use the pie
- 12:18Speaker 3: chart like the pitchers get a very small percentage. Yeah.
- 12:22Speaker 3: The larger issue is Seattle scored one run on one hit. Yeah,
- 12:28Speaker 3: that is the problem, and it has been a unfortunately
- 12:32Speaker 3: problem we've seen before. It's not as if this just
- 12:35Speaker 3: happened for the first time all season, because the record
- 12:38Speaker 3: wouldn't be what it is. They would be really good
- 12:40Speaker 3: and they're like, just tough loss it, they'll bounce back.
- 12:43Speaker 3: But yet again we're talking about issues that have been
- 12:46Speaker 3: coming up with this roster. First seems like forever, regarding
- 12:51Speaker 3: this specific issue of strikeouts not being on bays, just
- 12:54Speaker 3: wasted opportunities, and you mentioned the basis being loaded and
- 12:59Speaker 3: coming out with.
- 12:59Speaker 2: Nothing nothing, and that is not the first time that's happened.
- 13:02Speaker 3: And that's pretty bad. At some point, can someone bunt
- 13:05Speaker 3: I don't know, get a run. I know that's not
- 13:07Speaker 3: the philosophy of this roster and the team, but stop
- 13:12Speaker 3: trying to do it one way and maybe just I
- 13:14Speaker 3: don't know, go outside the box.
- 13:17Speaker 1: Wouldn't that be a novel idea. We are so focused
- 13:19Speaker 1: in this little box and you know a lot of
- 13:22Speaker 1: people were like, well, we had a one nothing lead
- 13:24Speaker 1: going into the ninth We should have been able to
- 13:26Speaker 1: win the game. The problem here is that you leave
- 13:28Speaker 1: no room for error, Zal and this is the Mariners.
- 13:31Speaker 1: You need to leave a little room for error, and
- 13:33Speaker 1: that's unfair to your pitching staff to leave them no
- 13:35Speaker 1: room for one mistake.
- 13:37Speaker 2: And I looked it up.
- 13:39Speaker 1: So since nineteen fourteen, sixty four games have been won
- 13:43Speaker 1: by a one nothing lead with one hit.
- 13:45Speaker 2: Sixty four games in over one hundred years.
- 13:47Speaker 3: That's crazy.
- 13:48Speaker 2: The Mariners have won two of them.
- 13:50Speaker 3: That's not a great stat to say, yeah, just be perfect. Yeah,
- 13:54Speaker 3: one zero wins, that's fine.
- 13:56Speaker 1: How would you ever expect that? And how could you
- 13:57Speaker 1: put any of that loss on the pitching staff?
- 13:59Speaker 2: And I don't. I don't think it's only on the offense.
- 14:04Speaker 1: That's not what I'm saying, But so many people are
- 14:05Speaker 1: putting it only on the decision to put Castillo out
- 14:08Speaker 1: in the ninth.
- 14:09Speaker 3: Imagine being a picture on that roster and knowing that,
- 14:11Speaker 3: damn if I don't play perfect, there's a chance we
- 14:14Speaker 3: don't walk out of here with a dub. And I
- 14:16Speaker 3: got an L on my record. Not that it's about
- 14:17Speaker 3: that picture, but you get my point. I think the
- 14:19Speaker 3: frustration starts to build up. And granted, no player is
- 14:22Speaker 3: gonna ever come out unless you're just a one of
- 14:25Speaker 3: those guys that you know you you're fed up and
- 14:27Speaker 3: you're gonna voice. I mean, I can't. I couldn't blame
- 14:29Speaker 3: someone if they're a picture and they voiced it, I'd
- 14:31Speaker 3: probably say, don't go to the media for it, keep
- 14:33Speaker 3: it in house. But that's another thing, another day for
- 14:36Speaker 3: a discussion. But yeah, I just imagine being one of
- 14:39Speaker 3: those pictures out there and you're thinking, damn, it's too
- 14:42Speaker 3: nothing in the ninth, Well, what happens if I give
- 14:46Speaker 3: up a run here? Is the offense gonna be able
- 14:47Speaker 3: to do anything? Or are we just it's screwed? That's
- 14:51Speaker 3: a or even just one zero as it was last night.
- 14:54Speaker 1: Right, you'd think, like, even giving up two runs in
- 14:57Speaker 1: the ninth and being down to one, we still have
- 15:00Speaker 1: a chance to win that game if the offense could
- 15:02Speaker 1: do anything.
- 15:03Speaker 2: But they already looked defeated when they.
- 15:05Speaker 1: Stepped up to the plate, and so you're watching just
- 15:08Speaker 1: kind of feudal attempts at bats and it was like, well, yeah.
- 15:12Speaker 2: You guys have already lost the game in your mind.
- 15:15Speaker 2: I don't know, the whole thing so frustrating.
- 15:17Speaker 1: I fully understand why anybody has a bad taste in
- 15:19Speaker 1: their mouth after that game. It was gross on a
- 15:22Speaker 1: lot of levels, and I just, you know, a lot
- 15:26Speaker 1: of people got mad when I put out on Twitter.
- 15:28Speaker 1: Nobody should be surprised that Castillo went out in the night. Again,
- 15:32Speaker 1: I am not defending the decision to put Castillo out
- 15:35Speaker 1: in the ninth I'm saying, if you've watched this team
- 15:37Speaker 1: and the fact that they always have a plan, you
- 15:40Speaker 1: should not be surprised that they stuck to the plan.
- 15:43Speaker 2: That's it.
- 15:44Speaker 1: Nobody should have been surprised by that. Everybody is more
- 15:47Speaker 1: than welcome to be angry, frustrated, irritated, pissed off, whatever,
- 15:53Speaker 1: by all means, you know, be frustrated with this team
- 15:55Speaker 1: right now. I sure am, and I love this team
- 15:59Speaker 1: and I want this team to do well. But it's
- 16:01Speaker 1: like every single day we find a new way to
- 16:04Speaker 1: shoot ourselves in the foot, and a lot of times
- 16:06Speaker 1: it comes from the offense. Unfortunately, Yeah, it really does.
- 16:11Speaker 3: It's bad. It's not a not a not fun to
- 16:14Speaker 3: be a Mariners fan at this point of the season.
- 16:16Speaker 3: But there's a lot to look up to, including today.
- 16:19Speaker 3: So if they can just handle business this afternoon, the
- 16:25Speaker 3: conversation will be a lot different. Tomorrow. It'll be oh
- 16:27Speaker 3: my gosh, they're back. It'll be that's one win, all right,
- 16:30Speaker 3: onto the next and you I love this Mike McDonald
- 16:33Speaker 3: frays of stacking it. It works well. So if they
- 16:35Speaker 3: can stack some consistency within that offensive lineup. Yeah, and
- 16:40Speaker 3: maybe it's not just on the players. Maybe it's a
- 16:43Speaker 3: structural issue and how they're the lineup is I'm not sure.
- 16:46Speaker 3: I don't have the answer.
- 16:47Speaker 2: So when you're leading off with the rob Refsnader, we've
- 16:48Speaker 2: got other issues.
- 16:50Speaker 3: That is a fair point there.
- 16:51Speaker 1: Yeah, it's just I mean again, we're so focused on
- 16:54Speaker 1: this lefty on if a lefty's pitching, and who's going
- 16:57Speaker 1: to I mean, they're not performing either way. So just
- 17:00Speaker 1: put your best damn line up out there and see
- 17:01Speaker 1: what happens. Because the people that you're putting in to
- 17:03Speaker 1: attack lefties aren't attacking lefties.
- 17:05Speaker 2: And our lineup looked pretty bad lesson.
- 17:07Speaker 3: Yep, So what more can we add? Oh we have
- 17:10Speaker 3: Dan Wilson audio will play for you, I believe.
- 17:12Speaker 1: Yeah, I think we'll do that. I was I was
- 17:14Speaker 1: gonna try to do it here, but we just had
- 17:15Speaker 1: too much. We had to get off our chest. So
- 17:16Speaker 1: I think we'll do that at forty five because we've
- 17:19Speaker 1: got Anders coming in next to talk World Cup. I
- 17:21Speaker 1: know which feels so weird because I'm like, I could
- 17:23Speaker 1: just talk about this Mariner's frustration, the entire understand.
- 17:25Speaker 3: We're sorry, we're gonna ditch you to continue discussion on
- 17:29Speaker 3: the Mariners and you complaining four one? What are your
- 17:33Speaker 3: thoughts on the Mariners?
- 17:34Speaker 4: Go?
- 17:34Speaker 1: Yeah, actually we do want your thoughts at four nine,
- 17:36Speaker 1: four or five one though at eleven thirty.
- 17:39Speaker 2: That's all right, let it out. It's a therapy line.
- 17:41Speaker 3: It's gonna be pretty nasty today, and that's okay.
- 17:44Speaker 1: Yep, it's a therapy line. What you say, say what
- 17:47Speaker 1: you gotta say, it is okay, all right. We're gonna
- 17:49Speaker 1: be back with Andrews. I'm sure we'll still squeak in
- 17:51Speaker 1: a little Mariner's talk with him and Sounder or not
- 17:54Speaker 1: Sounder Stock and World Cup talk that's coming up.
- 17:56Speaker 2: Sports Radio ninety three three kJ r FM.
- 17:59Speaker 4: Now back to Great Bell and Christopher Kidd on your
- 18:02Speaker 4: home for the Huskies Cracket and the twelfth Man. Sports
- 18:05Speaker 4: Radio ninety three point three kJ r FM.
- 18:26Speaker 1: I feel like I needed to have a deep breath.
- 18:28Speaker 1: Sports Radio ninety three to three kJ r FM. It's
- 18:31Speaker 1: Ashley Ryan, Christopher Kidd in for Greg Bell. We were
- 18:34Speaker 1: going to potentially talk World Cup with Anders, but let's
- 18:37Speaker 1: be honest, I think everybody is too fired up about Mariners,
- 18:40Speaker 1: and rightfully so, so we're gonna hold off on Anders
- 18:44Speaker 1: and World Cup talk.
- 18:45Speaker 2: We are gonna we want to give that it's due.
- 18:47Speaker 1: We want to make sure we are fully focused on
- 18:49Speaker 1: World Cup fever, which is going to be coming a
- 18:52Speaker 1: real soon or less than a month away from that.
- 18:53Speaker 1: So we will catch up with with Anders on the
- 18:56Speaker 1: morning show probably next week and figure out how the
- 19:00Speaker 1: FEVA is growing.
- 19:02Speaker 3: See he did there, the fever fever.
- 19:05Speaker 1: Yeah, And so instead we're gonna talk about Mariners. I know,
- 19:10Speaker 1: get ready, get ready, But you know a lot of
- 19:12Speaker 1: people are on the text line saying, hey, what about
- 19:14Speaker 1: Dan Wilson and coming out to the mound his second
- 19:17Speaker 1: attempted mound visit, which was a big problem. We just
- 19:20Speaker 1: had a lot that we had to talk about in
- 19:22Speaker 1: that first segment, so we saved our Dan Wilson audio
- 19:24Speaker 1: for later, and now we have some time here that
- 19:27Speaker 1: we can play that and then discuss the Dan Wilson
- 19:30Speaker 1: aspect of all of this.
- 19:31Speaker 2: So let's hear from the skipper first.
- 19:33Speaker 5: It's up going to lose.
- 19:34Speaker 6: Late tonight, but the way the guy's pitch tonight. You know,
- 19:36Speaker 6: got the one run early. I thought we did a
- 19:38Speaker 6: good job putting a lot of pitches on k early,
- 19:41Speaker 6: but then he was able to kind of settle in
- 19:42Speaker 6: and it was a little bit tougher as the game
- 19:44Speaker 6: went on. Just not able to get too much going
- 19:47Speaker 6: on after that first inning there. But you know, Bryce
- 19:50Speaker 6: was throwing the ball extremely well. You know, Fred did
- 19:53Speaker 6: a really nice job getting us out of it, and
- 19:55Speaker 6: then you know, Rock continued to throw the ball well,
- 19:59Speaker 6: just weren't able to hold on to it in the end,
- 20:00Speaker 6: and tough one to lose considerations to start with.
- 20:05Speaker 3: Any just.
- 20:10Speaker 6: We talked about before you know the game started that
- 20:13Speaker 6: different scenarios exist in the piggyback situation.
- 20:15Speaker 5: And Rocket gotten in there a little bit later.
- 20:17Speaker 6: So we felt really comfortable with Rock out there, especially
- 20:20Speaker 6: the way he was throwing the ball, and it just
- 20:22Speaker 6: didn't go away there in the ninth. Yeah, I mean
- 20:25Speaker 6: started win a game on yeh thinks twice now in
- 20:28Speaker 6: the last game or last three games, you guys have
- 20:30Speaker 6: gotten one hit in a game.
- 20:31Speaker 5: I mean, where are you seeing right now?
- 20:35Speaker 6: Yeah, Like I said, early, I thought the bats were good.
- 20:38Speaker 6: We were putting long at bats, we were seeing pitches.
- 20:41Speaker 6: I think he was kind of spraying the ball quite
- 20:43Speaker 6: a bit earlier. He found a little bit better command
- 20:45Speaker 6: later on, and he can be difficult when he's when
- 20:48Speaker 6: he's able to command the ball. He pitched well against
- 20:50Speaker 6: us in Chicago, and we just weren't able to add on.
- 20:52Speaker 6: We weren't able to get traffic and get the ball going,
- 20:55Speaker 6: and it's frustrating for sure.
- 20:56Speaker 5: We got to come back tomorrow and and win the series.
- 21:00Speaker 3: I think was the biggest takeaway from the taking next
- 21:02Speaker 3: situation because with Bryce, you know, that's a situation, even with.
- 21:05Speaker 6: Berd Comedy coming up, that would probably keep.
- 21:08Speaker 3: Him in the game with the one hit, the one walking,
- 21:10Speaker 3: with the less than the invitations in that.
- 21:11Speaker 5: Situation, Yeah, it's a different scenario. It's a different situation.
- 21:15Speaker 6: Bryce had thrown the ball extremely well and had it
- 21:18Speaker 6: not been for no hits, I think, you know, would
- 21:19Speaker 6: have been a different guy out there to start the inning.
- 21:21Speaker 5: But think in that situation with with it.
- 21:23Speaker 6: Being the one run game, we felt like we could
- 21:25Speaker 6: get get you know, left on left there and get
- 21:27Speaker 6: out of the inning and then hand the ball of
- 21:29Speaker 6: the rock. And I thought freer came in and did
- 21:31Speaker 6: a nice job based on how Bryce was throwing, what
- 21:35Speaker 6: you saw from Louise later in the game, how inclined
- 21:38Speaker 6: you think right now would you be to go back
- 21:40Speaker 6: to this to get next turn to the invitation?
- 21:43Speaker 5: The way both guys handled it, I thought they handled
- 21:45Speaker 5: it extremely well. I give the rock a lot of credit.
- 21:47Speaker 6: He had to be kind of flexible down there, giving
- 21:49Speaker 6: Bryce a situation and no hitter, And then thought he
- 21:52Speaker 6: did a really nice job of being flexible coming in there,
- 21:56Speaker 6: and thought he was throwing the ball extremely well. So
- 21:58Speaker 6: I thought both guys handled it very very well, extremely well.
- 22:01Speaker 6: And we'll continue to reflect on it and talk about
- 22:03Speaker 6: it the you know next time around.
- 22:05Speaker 5: Yeah, what is this is a typicult like do you're
- 22:07Speaker 5: not getting done before?
- 22:08Speaker 1: You know?
- 22:09Speaker 6: Does does your thought process change the next time around?
- 22:12Speaker 6: Like you know, maybe if it isn't clean inning, do
- 22:14Speaker 6: you go to communions or do you change anything?
- 22:16Speaker 5: Because you have one time to evalue it, you go.
- 22:21Speaker 6: Back, we'll all look at it, we'll all talk about
- 22:23Speaker 6: it and see where we might have done things differently
- 22:25Speaker 6: or make our adjustments from there.
- 22:27Speaker 5: You know, again, this is a this is a game of.
- 22:29Speaker 6: Adjustments and and and we'll have to make ours as
- 22:32Speaker 6: as we go forward and and do this the next time.
- 22:35Speaker 5: Yeah, what was the explanation.
- 22:36Speaker 6: You're trying to bring the pitch and changes and you're
- 22:38Speaker 6: not allowed to go back out, and that's on me.
- 22:40Speaker 5: I thought we could still go out and make the change.
- 22:41Speaker 6: And thankfully Rock got the got the out, got the
- 22:43Speaker 6: punch out, and we were able to make the change.
- 22:45Speaker 5: But once once the pitching coach goes out, he has
- 22:46Speaker 5: to see you earlater. How tough is it?
- 22:49Speaker 2: Maybe in particular, you know you need it's a little
- 22:51Speaker 2: bit extra time to get warm.
- 22:52Speaker 5: But when did you start to think of, okay, maybe
- 22:55Speaker 5: we'll have to do this.
- 22:56Speaker 3: How quickly is that conversation happened?
- 22:58Speaker 5: I think he was up and was ready to go.
- 23:01Speaker 6: I think we you know, we knew that if there
- 23:03Speaker 6: was some traffic and you know, we had a chance
- 23:05Speaker 6: to close it out, that that's where we would probably go.
- 23:08Speaker 5: So he was ready to go.
- 23:10Speaker 2: I think, okay.
- 23:11Speaker 1: There's a lot of interesting things from there. First off,
- 23:13Speaker 1: Ryan Divisio's question that was the Mariner's manager Dan Wilson
- 23:17Speaker 1: post game last night. Ryan Divisio's question of Okay, so
- 23:20Speaker 1: this was your first time with this piggyback situation, how
- 23:24Speaker 1: do you evaluate this moving forward? Do you go back
- 23:26Speaker 1: and think, like, Okay, you know, maybe in this situation,
- 23:29Speaker 1: next time we let Mooney start an inning rather than
- 23:31Speaker 1: coming in with runners on.
- 23:33Speaker 2: I mean, I think that's what we're all wondering, are
- 23:35Speaker 2: you know?
- 23:36Speaker 1: Because I don't think that anybody could look at the
- 23:38Speaker 1: piggyback situation last night and think that was a failure.
- 23:41Speaker 2: You gave up four hits and two runs.
- 23:44Speaker 1: If I think most Mariners fans would say, if we
- 23:47Speaker 1: get even with this team four hits and two runs,
- 23:50Speaker 1: we should win the game.
- 23:52Speaker 2: Most of the time we should. And so I think
- 23:56Speaker 2: I liked it.
- 23:57Speaker 1: I was happy with the piggyback situation. I think it
- 24:00Speaker 1: it went off with really well, especially with Bryce Miller
- 24:03Speaker 1: going even longer than expected. I do think that kind
- 24:05Speaker 1: of threw things off, that he went longer than expected,
- 24:08Speaker 1: and so again, learning experience, I completely understand that there
- 24:11Speaker 1: is no excuse though for in the ninth or in
- 24:17Speaker 1: was it the ninth inning? Yeah, in the ninth inning,
- 24:18Speaker 1: when Woody goes out to the mound to talk to
- 24:21Speaker 1: Castillo and try to buy some time for Mooney to
- 24:25Speaker 1: get more warmed up because Mooney was not ready to
- 24:28Speaker 1: start the ninth. He was still in a sweatshirt standing
- 24:30Speaker 1: there with his hands in his pockets, so he was
- 24:32Speaker 1: definitely not ready to start the ninth and so I
- 24:36Speaker 1: think they screwed up there because he should have at
- 24:38Speaker 1: least been throwing and ready to go the second one.
- 24:40Speaker 2: I think I think he should have been.
- 24:42Speaker 1: If you're gonna put Castillo in, he should have been
- 24:44Speaker 1: pulled the second we got somebody on base, and then
- 24:46Speaker 1: you're not putting Mooney at such a disadvantage with two
- 24:49Speaker 1: runners on and a problem, and especially the double steal.
- 24:52Speaker 1: So I think you go out. If you're woody, you
- 24:55Speaker 1: buy time. But then you have to know in that
- 24:57Speaker 1: meeting we're pulling him now or we're not. We're just
- 25:00Speaker 1: gonna have a little long conversation before we pull him,
- 25:02Speaker 1: and they didn't. They had the conversation, then they went
- 25:05Speaker 1: back into the dugout and then they were like, no, no, no,
- 25:07Speaker 1: actually we want to pull him.
- 25:08Speaker 2: I don't know how. You don't know that you can't
- 25:09Speaker 2: do that.
- 25:10Speaker 1: And even Dan Wilson explaining it after like, yeah, you know,
- 25:14Speaker 1: we can't do back to back mound visits and that's
- 25:16Speaker 1: on me. Well, yeah, it is on you because you
- 25:18Speaker 1: should have absolutely known that and kind of trying to
- 25:22Speaker 1: go back out made us look terrible and like we
- 25:24Speaker 1: had no idea what we were doing.
- 25:26Speaker 2: Which apparently we had no idea what we were.
- 25:28Speaker 3: Doing, and that's true. So where to go from here.
- 25:34Speaker 1: That's the great question. I think you can take positives
- 25:36Speaker 1: away for sure. As I said, piggyback, it works. Yes,
- 25:39Speaker 1: it was a success, and so I think, you know,
- 25:41Speaker 1: you've got to do some tweaking.
- 25:43Speaker 2: You've got to have a different plan. You've got to know.
- 25:45Speaker 1: Okay, if we get those two great innings out of
- 25:48Speaker 1: Castillo and we're heading into the ninth with a small lead,
- 25:51Speaker 1: we cannot put Mooney at a disadvantage going into that game.
- 25:54Speaker 1: It's got to be start the inning with Mooney. Because
- 25:57Speaker 1: Castillo is not a closer. He does not come in
- 26:00Speaker 1: in those high leverage you know situations. Granted yesterday with
- 26:04Speaker 1: a one run lead, all of it was high leverage,
- 26:05Speaker 1: but he does not come in to close. That is
- 26:07Speaker 1: a different type of game to manage for a picture,
- 26:10Speaker 1: and he doesn't have any experience with that. So you're
- 26:13Speaker 1: already putting him at a disadvantage to go into the
- 26:16Speaker 1: game in the ninth You got to just leave it,
- 26:18Speaker 1: leave it with Mooney and trust that Mooney's gonna get
- 26:20Speaker 1: it done. If Mooney doesn't get it done, okay, well
- 26:22Speaker 1: you tried, and blown saves happen. We've seen that a lot,
- 26:26Speaker 1: so I think that would be the one thing you
- 26:29Speaker 1: would change. I'm trying to think of what else aside
- 26:33Speaker 1: from just asking them to get more hits.
- 26:35Speaker 3: I think that's honestly, to be honest, that's probably the
- 26:38Speaker 3: biggest one. Yeah, I don't want to put too much
- 26:41Speaker 3: on the pitching. Yeah, we talked about being success. Dan
- 26:46Speaker 3: Wilson can learn a thing or two. He mentioned his mistakes,
- 26:50Speaker 3: so well, that's another issue there. But I think honestly
- 26:53Speaker 3: we that we the managers have to get on base
- 26:56Speaker 3: and be productive.
- 26:57Speaker 2: Yeah, that is It's simple baseball, right, I want I
- 27:02Speaker 2: don't hard game.
- 27:02Speaker 3: But I don't want to make it sound so obvious.
- 27:05Speaker 3: But I don't know what else I could add.
- 27:07Speaker 2: But yeah, we don't need to overcomplicate it.
- 27:09Speaker 3: That's it.
- 27:10Speaker 1: Get on base and score runs.
- 27:14Speaker 3: I don't maybe I don't make it. Might be it
- 27:17Speaker 3: feels as if it is. It's just because of how
- 27:19Speaker 3: this team has been playing this season. So, yeah, can
- 27:22Speaker 3: you guys get some hits? Not home runs. Home runs
- 27:25Speaker 3: are cool and all, but get on base when the
- 27:28Speaker 3: bays are loaded. Bring one run in? Yeah, one, just one.
- 27:33Speaker 1: I'm curious to see and people can chime in on
- 27:36Speaker 1: the Tacoma Doadge text line four nine four or five one.
- 27:38Speaker 1: I'm curious to see if you have how your feelings
- 27:42Speaker 1: about this team have changed from the start of the
- 27:43Speaker 1: season until now.
- 27:45Speaker 2: I mean, because you know, we know the lineup we had.
- 27:48Speaker 1: Obviously we've got some injuries, but we know the players
- 27:50Speaker 1: that we've got, right, we know what team we are
- 27:52Speaker 1: dealing with. Were you confident at the beginning of the
- 27:55Speaker 1: season that this is the team that's going to go
- 27:56Speaker 1: to the playoffs and make a run towards the World Series?
- 27:59Speaker 1: And if you were, have you lost that confidence? Do
- 28:02Speaker 1: you still maintain that confidence? Were you not confident at
- 28:04Speaker 1: all to begin with and nothing's changed? I would like
- 28:07Speaker 1: to know that, because I definitely came into the season
- 28:09Speaker 1: pretty confident that we were going to make a strong
- 28:11Speaker 1: run in the playoffs again. And while I wouldn't say
- 28:15Speaker 1: that confidence is gone, it's definitely taking a hit and
- 28:20Speaker 1: I asked Chuck the other day, like, is this just
- 28:23Speaker 1: because of kind of being in this in the present
- 28:27Speaker 1: moment that I feel like this is more like one
- 28:30Speaker 1: of the more frustrated years I've had, one of the
- 28:33Speaker 1: you know, I don't recall being this frustrated, And he said, no,
- 28:37Speaker 1: I think we were this frustrated.
- 28:38Speaker 2: I think it was similar last year.
- 28:40Speaker 1: But it always works itself out, and so I think,
- 28:42Speaker 1: like it's like a PTSD thing, right, we just try
- 28:45Speaker 1: to forget that part that traumatized us from the season
- 28:50Speaker 1: before because it works out in a positive way and
- 28:53Speaker 1: the only ones we remember are the ones that didn't
- 28:56Speaker 1: end up positively, and then those are the ones we
- 28:58Speaker 1: hang on to. So I can't remember in this moment
- 29:01Speaker 1: last year when we had a slow start. I don't
- 29:03Speaker 1: remember being this frustrated. I feel like this is worse
- 29:07Speaker 1: than I've had it before because I think, again, we
- 29:10Speaker 1: had such high expectations coming off last year.
- 29:14Speaker 3: Well, let's try to be hopeful positive and hey, Mariners,
- 29:18Speaker 3: just get a win today and we will act as
- 29:21Speaker 3: if what we witnessed last night took place, But we're
- 29:25Speaker 3: not going to bring it up because you guys won,
- 29:27Speaker 3: and if you continue winning all is right.
- 29:29Speaker 2: Again, we are going to do to yourselves lose.
- 29:32Speaker 3: Again this afternoon. I don't know what to expect tomorrow.
- 29:36Speaker 3: As a matter of fact, maybe we'll pull for Nest.
- 29:38Speaker 3: Just not even talk about the Mariners for the first segment.
- 29:40Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 29:41Speaker 3: Just get to a more We just avoid the discussion,
- 29:43Speaker 3: and I don't think too many people will be upset.
- 29:45Speaker 3: You can make up some Seahawk talk. There's always something there.
- 29:48Speaker 3: Some find stuff to do. That might be the best
- 29:51Speaker 3: case of course of action. Just avoid the discussion.
- 29:54Speaker 1: Well, hopefully it doesn't come to that, but I do
- 29:56Speaker 1: think it is funny because we will do that to ourselves.
- 29:58Speaker 1: If they win again, then we're gonna focus on the
- 30:00Speaker 1: things they want and we are going to ride this
- 30:01Speaker 1: roller coaster until we see some consistency. And uh yeah,
- 30:05Speaker 1: I just want let's just string some well I'm not
- 30:07Speaker 1: even gonna say string some wins together.
- 30:09Speaker 2: Just get one and then get one the time, one
- 30:12Speaker 2: at a time. All right.
- 30:13Speaker 1: Well, because we were able to talk Marriners there, we
- 30:16Speaker 1: do have to have a little bit of an NBA
- 30:18Speaker 1: conversation because I'm pretty impressed with these NBA playoffs right now.
- 30:21Speaker 1: But there's some things changing in the league, and we
- 30:24Speaker 1: are going to talk about that.
- 30:24Speaker 2: Coming up next.
- 30:25Speaker 1: It's Sports Radio ninety three three KJRFM.
- 30:41Speaker 2: Sports Radio ninety three to.
- 30:42Speaker 1: Three KJRFM, Ashley Ryan, Christopher kid in for Greg Bell.
- 30:47Speaker 1: And if you've been watching the NBA playoffs, which I
- 30:49Speaker 1: am not, I don't consider myself an NBA fan right now,
- 30:52Speaker 1: at least not until we get the Sonics back. I
- 30:54Speaker 1: feel burned by the NBA. I have a hard time
- 30:56Speaker 1: watching regular season games. I do usually take a peek
- 31:00Speaker 1: at playoff games, but the first two games in the
- 31:03Speaker 1: Conference finals have been more than exciting. Double ot Spurs
- 31:07Speaker 1: win in Game one in the West and an overtime
- 31:10Speaker 1: Nicks win yesterday after being down twenty two. I mean,
- 31:13Speaker 1: that was those both great games to watch, and as
- 31:17Speaker 1: the person it's kind of, you know, the fringe NBA
- 31:20Speaker 1: fan just.
- 31:20Speaker 2: Watching the excitement. I thought, man, this is really cool.
- 31:24Speaker 1: You sent me a text the other day though, that
- 31:25Speaker 1: said that you think the NBA playoffs kind of feel
- 31:27Speaker 1: different right now and maybe that we're heading into a
- 31:30Speaker 1: new era of the NBA. You think that's like a
- 31:32Speaker 1: positive Are you saying like it feel different in a
- 31:34Speaker 1: positive way?
- 31:35Speaker 2: Just in a weird way. Is it negative? What do
- 31:37Speaker 2: you think?
- 31:38Speaker 3: I think it's a positive. Right. These playoffs may prove
- 31:40Speaker 3: that the NBA is better or healthier than what you
- 31:48Speaker 3: see in the regular season because it's transitioning from the
- 31:53Speaker 3: old players Lebron, Curry and Katie. They're not in the
- 31:57Speaker 3: they're not in the deep run like they like they
- 31:59Speaker 3: have been over the past decade. And now you're seeing
- 32:02Speaker 3: this new generation of talent. Whether it's SGA, he feels
- 32:06Speaker 3: as if he might be the next face of this league.
- 32:09Speaker 3: You got Anthony Edwards who just lost to SGA obviously,
- 32:13Speaker 3: but he's becoming this this personality that everyone kind of
- 32:18Speaker 3: likes and enjoys. And he's also killer in the playoffs.
- 32:21Speaker 3: He's really good, but they gotta be by a better team. Fair.
- 32:24Speaker 3: And then Jalen Brunson, who makes the New York Knicks.
- 32:26Speaker 3: I would say, mut's watch TV, Like, if you're watching
- 32:28Speaker 3: the next game, you're like, oh, I want to watch
- 32:30Speaker 3: Jaalen Brunson and see what he's gonna do. Yeah, and
- 32:32Speaker 3: you saw a little bit of that last night when
- 32:33Speaker 3: he dropped. Yeah, he just had an amazing game. Yet
- 32:36Speaker 3: so and then last but not least, obviously Victor women Yama,
- 32:40Speaker 3: who might already be the most unique, fascinating young player
- 32:45Speaker 3: since maybe Lebron. Just you know, a guy that's seven
- 32:48Speaker 3: foot four can do everything. Not to mention, he plays
- 32:52Speaker 3: a lot of defense. He blocks shots you don't even
- 32:54Speaker 3: and you go to the paint. You're looking around like, yeah,
- 32:57Speaker 3: I'm gonna have to dribble this out because he is
- 32:59Speaker 3: in there. So we're looking at it. I just named
- 33:01Speaker 3: you what four players that are taking the helm. They're
- 33:08Speaker 3: showcasing a new era of basketball, and the old guys
- 33:12Speaker 3: they matter. But Steph Curry is he's still popular. Lebron
- 33:16Speaker 3: He's still is Lebron, and then KD He's always in
- 33:20Speaker 3: the conversation, so that's discourse. But I think the key
- 33:23Speaker 3: difference is the NBA is not looking around like damn,
- 33:27Speaker 3: we need one superstar. I just na that are all
- 33:30Speaker 3: in the playoff. Well three not mentioned Anthey Edwards because
- 33:33Speaker 3: he's out, but there are three that are in the
- 33:34Speaker 3: playoffs right now that are showing up each and every
- 33:36Speaker 3: night and playing basketball at a high level. So I
- 33:39Speaker 3: think that's a really good sign for the league moving forward.
- 33:42Speaker 3: Because the questions were were after Steph Curry and Lebron.
- 33:46Speaker 3: What's next for the league?
- 33:47Speaker 2: Yeah, it was like it felt like they were searching
- 33:49Speaker 2: for a super.
- 33:50Speaker 3: Sear Yeah, and now I think you're getting it on
- 33:52Speaker 3: the big stage, and Eastern Conference and Western Conference are
- 33:55Speaker 3: seeing Okay, there are some guys that can carry the
- 34:00Speaker 3: mantle of the next generation of hoops for the next
- 34:03Speaker 3: ten to twelve years. And who knows, there might be
- 34:05Speaker 3: another kid that pops in in the next few seasons.
- 34:08Speaker 3: But right now, those four guys I think are the
- 34:12Speaker 3: new Like, ooh, this is a superstar stardom right here.
- 34:15Speaker 3: These guys are expected to win now, A, B, and C,
- 34:19Speaker 3: you name it, and I think it's only gonna get better.
- 34:23Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 34:23Speaker 1: It's interesting because I've seen a lot of people that'll text, oh, well,
- 34:27Speaker 1: NBA is broken. Nobody watches the NBA anymore, And I
- 34:29Speaker 1: think that's a lot of people here that are still
- 34:32Speaker 1: about the NBA.
- 34:33Speaker 3: Yeah, ratings are up, so that's not factual. True. Yeah,
- 34:36Speaker 3: you might not watch it. That's fine, that no one's
- 34:39Speaker 3: gonna I can't be mad at people that don't want
- 34:41Speaker 3: to watch that's fine.
- 34:43Speaker 1: But if you are watching it, you are realizing. Yeah,
- 34:45Speaker 1: everything you said, it is exciting. These young players are
- 34:47Speaker 1: really fun. I watched Starting five on I think Netflix.
- 34:50Speaker 3: It was oh yeah, that was interesting.
- 34:52Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean that's the you know, finding out more
- 34:54Speaker 1: about SGA. I don't know how you can like that guy.
- 34:56Speaker 1: I mean, he's awesome.
- 34:57Speaker 2: Anthony Edwards was in it. I mean I started.
- 35:00Speaker 1: You know, it helped me so that when I watch
- 35:02Speaker 1: I have these guys to cheer for, because now I
- 35:04Speaker 1: kind of know a little bit more, which is helpful
- 35:06Speaker 1: if you're a fringe fan like I am right now.
- 35:08Speaker 1: And so really fun to watch that. And the playoffs
- 35:11Speaker 1: so far have been for the most part exciting. I
- 35:14Speaker 1: mean obviously Okay See playing you know, blowout games for theirs,
- 35:17Speaker 1: but I think these finals in the Western and Eastern
- 35:20Speaker 1: Conference are just going to be fantastic and I'm looking
- 35:22Speaker 1: forward to another great game tonight.
- 35:24Speaker 3: Between what I mentioned that the Tea Wolves lost to
- 35:31Speaker 3: Okay see, but they lost to if I'm not mistaken,
- 35:33Speaker 3: the Spurs, I think it was. But nonetheless, you got
- 35:38Speaker 3: to see Anthony Evers taking on Victor wimbin Yama and
- 35:41Speaker 3: Victor he did what he needed to do, yes, And
- 35:44Speaker 3: that was a fun series, and now you're you're getting okay,
- 35:48Speaker 3: see and the Spurs, and it's I think it's going
- 35:51Speaker 3: probably six seven games. I hope it goes seven, But.
- 35:54Speaker 2: Wouldn't we would be so lucky. That would be fun,
- 35:56Speaker 2: That would be really fun.
- 35:58Speaker 3: I know a lot of Sonic fans are like, please, okay,
- 36:00Speaker 3: see lose, But regardless who wins, you're gonna get good basketball.
- 36:04Speaker 3: You saw that in Game one. You're gonna see that tonight.
- 36:07Speaker 3: And hopefully the Nicks show up in the first three
- 36:10Speaker 3: quarters and don't show up. Oh yeah, we got seven
- 36:12Speaker 3: minutes left. Let's make a big run here. Hopefully they
- 36:14Speaker 3: can play better basketball through the whole entire forty eight minutes.
- 36:18Speaker 3: But overall, it's been a fun postseason.
- 36:20Speaker 2: Yeah it has.
- 36:20Speaker 1: I've been enjoying it so far, and hopefully we'll see
- 36:23Speaker 1: a lot more fun games. Just we're gonna take a
- 36:26Speaker 1: little break from Mariner's talk and just a reminder that
- 36:28Speaker 1: the NFL is never.
- 36:30Speaker 2: Far away from our minds.
- 36:32Speaker 1: We're gonna talk some NFL with a special guest coming up.
- 36:35Speaker 1: It's Sports Radio ninety three to three KJRFM.
