- 0:10Speaker 1: stand on their own. See I already know you can't
- 0:12Speaker 1: bother with me because I brought up with.
- 0:14Speaker 2: The squad of me.
- 0:15Speaker 1: They get a little bit called Melo.
- 0:23Speaker 3: Bathera Bler Welcome to the bar B Blert Show podcast
- 0:26Speaker 3: O C T.
- 0:27Speaker 4: Whatep.
- 0:27Speaker 2: It's what you know is the case?
- 0:29Speaker 5: The third is here?
- 0:31Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 0:33Speaker 3: Whatever the studio that we broadcast out of every single
- 0:37Speaker 3: show we got joining us one more time.
- 0:39Speaker 2: We see you every day. But you haven't been on
- 0:42Speaker 2: the show people, it's been a minute. It's been almost
- 0:45Speaker 2: a year. But it's been great, man.
- 0:47Speaker 5: I mean there's been a lot of changes.
- 0:48Speaker 2: Yeah. Man, you guys have really brought a lot of
- 0:51Speaker 2: energy to the office.
- 0:52Speaker 6: I love it. A lot of a lot of dope
- 0:54Speaker 6: people come through. I hear so much. You know, good things.
- 0:57Speaker 6: A lot of a lot of viral moments have come
- 0:59Speaker 6: out of this office in the last probably almost a year.
- 1:01Speaker 2: I know you like this my stay at my shit. No,
- 1:04Speaker 2: I just like it.
- 1:05Speaker 6: No, it looks good though. It's like the waited y'all
- 1:07Speaker 6: really have given us a vibe and I think, I mean,
- 1:09Speaker 6: that's what the office is for Ushoe content. So it's
- 1:12Speaker 6: been incredible. I love it looks great.
- 1:13Speaker 2: Now you've been all in the media.
- 1:15Speaker 7: Man, what's your Clubhouse got going on?
- 1:18Speaker 4: Man?
- 1:20Speaker 2: Clubhouse? Clubhouse kind of came at me. Man.
- 1:23Speaker 6: They they changed the way that they they the app works,
- 1:28Speaker 6: and a lot of users started leaving and coming to
- 1:30Speaker 6: fan base. It started about this time last week, like Thursday,
- 1:33Speaker 6: like a week ago. It started about a week ago
- 1:36Speaker 6: and we just noticed its up chicking users and over
- 1:41Speaker 6: the weekend we had probably got thirty forty fifty thousand
- 1:44Speaker 6: new users, like quick though, like really fast. We've had
- 1:47Speaker 6: steady growth, but it's gone out of nowhere. So I
- 1:50Speaker 6: go on the app, you know, talk a little bit,
- 1:52Speaker 6: have a little conversation and Grant Cardon for the people
- 1:55Speaker 6: that know Grant Cardons real estate mogul. He you know,
- 1:58Speaker 6: he leaves his message where he does, like it was
- 2:00Speaker 6: a single message that he doesn't like Clubhouse, and I
- 2:03Speaker 6: just shot him a little message like yo, you need
- 2:06Speaker 6: to come on over the fan base and check it out.
- 2:08Speaker 2: And so come to death Row.
- 2:09Speaker 6: Yeah, right, So the head of community at a clubhouse.
- 2:15Speaker 6: This dude named Joe kind of hopped in the feed
- 2:18Speaker 6: and expressed his disdain from me, saying that that that
- 2:23Speaker 6: that grant needs to come to fan base. And I
- 2:25Speaker 6: think that that pissed a lot of people off because
- 2:28Speaker 6: the clubhouse themselves promote Clubhouse on Twitter.
- 2:32Speaker 7: Yeah, because he was kind of trying to say that
- 2:33Speaker 7: the way that you, as a CEO is marketing your app,
- 2:38Speaker 7: which is fan base on their platform, is kind of
- 2:40Speaker 7: like distasteful.
- 2:41Speaker 6: Here's the thing that makes that funny. Clubhouse is value
- 2:45Speaker 6: of four million dollars. They raised three hundred million dollars.
- 2:50Speaker 6: In comparison to us we have we're about value to
- 2:53Speaker 6: eighty five million dollars and I raised about nine point
- 2:56Speaker 6: five million dollars. But why do you care? I'm I'm
- 2:59Speaker 6: a fly to you guys like you're letting me know
- 3:02Speaker 6: that you're bothered. You understand what I'm saying if you
- 3:04Speaker 6: really and you really pressed about it, and if you
- 3:06Speaker 6: got to like if you if an employee of the company,
- 3:08Speaker 6: the head of community is mad that I'm saying something like, oh,
- 3:11Speaker 6: come and check out another app. If you don't like it,
- 3:14Speaker 6: then y'all are y'all will worried. So you got I
- 3:16Speaker 6: think today's scared. And you know one thing about it.
- 3:19Speaker 6: I love your clop back. Oh yeah, I tend to
- 3:24Speaker 6: well it's not that I see, but I don't. I
- 3:26Speaker 6: leave people alone and then somebody messes with me. Then
- 3:30Speaker 6: you know, I respond. But you know, I mean the
- 3:33Speaker 6: people have the people have.
- 3:34Speaker 5: Chosen, and that's going to say.
- 3:35Speaker 3: Obviously, this has definitely helped you because a lot of
- 3:38Speaker 3: their users went to you.
- 3:40Speaker 5: We had like over forty k new.
- 3:43Speaker 6: Users, right, yeah, forty thousand. It's more than that. Like
- 3:46Speaker 6: I said, we're almost at half a million users for
- 3:49Speaker 6: fan base, which is a big milestone.
- 3:52Speaker 2: But it was like all over the world.
- 3:54Speaker 6: It was like India, Moga, d Shoe, Stockholm, Sweden, London, Bangkok, Thailand,
- 4:00Speaker 6: like you know, Canada, Like we see these places all
- 4:03Speaker 6: over the world and they're starting to move their communities
- 4:05Speaker 6: over to fan base, which is causing massive views of growth.
- 4:08Speaker 6: I'm closing this last rank, this last round of funding
- 4:12Speaker 6: for the campaign on start Engine, so we're almost air
- 4:15Speaker 6: right about three point eight million dollars and we're stopping
- 4:17Speaker 6: at five million. So it's been like dope, it's been
- 4:20Speaker 6: like Okay, let's lock this up. So this is the
- 4:23Speaker 6: best week, I'll say you right now, this is the
- 4:24Speaker 6: best week that fan Base has had as a company
- 4:27Speaker 6: since I've launched the company.
- 4:28Speaker 2: I mean, people are pulling up.
- 4:30Speaker 5: And real quickly. I know, we just delve into the conversation.
- 4:33Speaker 3: But can you tell people who don't know what fan
- 4:35Speaker 3: base is exactly what that is?
- 4:37Speaker 6: Yeah, So fan Base is is my version of social
- 4:42Speaker 6: media for the future. I think that subscriptions are about
- 4:45Speaker 6: to take over the world. Fan Base is designed with
- 4:48Speaker 6: six media verticals to post, so it's free to download,
- 4:51Speaker 6: free to use, it doesn't cost anything, and you can
- 4:54Speaker 6: post content behind the paywall or not and half subscribe
- 5:00Speaker 6: from either two dollars or ninety nine cents a month
- 5:02Speaker 6: to ninety nine ninety nine a month. And it's a
- 5:05Speaker 6: black founding. And the reason why that's important is because
- 5:09Speaker 6: most of these startups make they're billions of dollars off
- 5:12Speaker 6: of our community. Right are we are the gasoline to
- 5:16Speaker 6: the engine, like we are never the We are never
- 5:19Speaker 6: the vehicle, right, We're always what powers the vehicle. And
- 5:23Speaker 6: so when that happens, there's no you know, the money
- 5:26Speaker 6: doesn't go to these young kids and make all these
- 5:28Speaker 6: cool dances and the constannots of the world, and all
- 5:31Speaker 6: these people like they're getting paid.
- 5:33Speaker 2: Some of them are, but most of them are.
- 5:35Speaker 6: So for every const and not, there's probably fifty thousand
- 5:37Speaker 6: that aren't, but they're still contributing content, making this company
- 5:40Speaker 6: worth multi billions of dollars. And so the design of
- 5:43Speaker 6: fan Base was to number one, let anybody on the planet,
- 5:46Speaker 6: no matter what race, age, you are, whatever where you
- 5:48Speaker 6: are on the planet, you can be yourself. We don't
- 5:51Speaker 6: suppressure content, and you can make money. And so I
- 5:54Speaker 6: just wanted to you know, if you're not this is
- 5:56Speaker 6: the thing about disruption, if you're not pissing people off,
- 6:00Speaker 6: not doing it right, that's what you're supposed to come
- 6:02Speaker 6: to the party and ruin it for everybody. You're supposed
- 6:05Speaker 6: to come in there, like I'm supposed to ruin it
- 6:06Speaker 6: for clubs. As a competitor. It's but see, I don't
- 6:09Speaker 6: think fan Base is a competitor at the clubhouse. I'm
- 6:11Speaker 6: thinking I don't think fan Base is a competitor to
- 6:13Speaker 6: any social media platform because number one, I think all
- 6:17Speaker 6: these apps have a lifespan. They're going to live and
- 6:19Speaker 6: they're going to die. I don't think there's any immortal
- 6:21Speaker 6: social media platform. I think there's one, but I'm not
- 6:22Speaker 6: gonna say. But like my Space is dead, Facebook's a
- 6:26Speaker 6: singing citizen, right, Instagrams and Middle Asia a doult Snapchat,
- 6:29Speaker 6: some millennial TikTok and centennial I be. I built fan
- 6:32Speaker 6: Base to be the successor platform. So they're more in
- 6:35Speaker 6: competition with me than I am with them because I'm
- 6:37Speaker 6: over here doing subscriptions. I'm letting everybody get their content
- 6:41Speaker 6: scene I'm not. I'm letting everybody be themselves. I'm not
- 6:44Speaker 6: shadow banding people all that kind of stuff. So I
- 6:47Speaker 6: just want people to have fun, especially young people to
- 6:50Speaker 6: to you know, make money, and apps need to be fun,
- 6:52Speaker 6: and we haven't. We're having fun over on fan Base.
- 6:54Speaker 6: That's the thing is fun, it's new. And then and
- 6:57Speaker 6: then allowing people to invest. You got to think about
- 7:00Speaker 6: these companies, like think about like I said, I'll use
- 7:02Speaker 6: Clubhouse as an example. You're a four billion dollar company.
- 7:06Speaker 6: You raised three hundred million dollars. What percentage or what
- 7:09Speaker 6: part of the users of that platform actually own a
- 7:11Speaker 6: piece of the company. Probably next to nothing, Yeah, probably nobody.
- 7:15Speaker 7: And what I noticed about Clubhouse too, is that like
- 7:18Speaker 7: our culture built Clubhouse absolutely, and you know, when it
- 7:22Speaker 7: was sold at a billion dollars, I didn't see anybody,
- 7:27Speaker 7: you know, like yourself a mesia state, like all these
- 7:30Speaker 7: people that was drawing me in, you know at the
- 7:33Speaker 7: time to even be a part of an app like that,
- 7:36Speaker 7: and I was like, they don't support you know, our culture, like.
- 7:40Speaker 6: And the irony in that is there was not an audio.
- 7:43Speaker 6: There was no audio on fan Base, fan maatesees didn't
- 7:45Speaker 6: have audio. Well, the reason why I built audio into
- 7:47Speaker 6: fan Base is because the first million users on Clubhouse
- 7:50Speaker 6: asked to invest and they said no. Then they ran
- 7:53Speaker 6: out and raised one hundred million dollars at a billion
- 7:55Speaker 6: dollar evaluation. So I said, we're going to build audio
- 7:57Speaker 6: because I was already at already raised three million dollars.
- 7:59Speaker 6: So I said, the next round, I do. I just
- 8:01Speaker 6: let people invest who wanted to own part of Clubhouse.
- 8:03Speaker 6: Now they can own part of this version of audio,
- 8:06Speaker 6: so that it's monetized for people to have that. So again,
- 8:09Speaker 6: if you're not pissing people off, I think, you know,
- 8:12Speaker 6: disruption is the name of the game. And they showed
- 8:14Speaker 6: their hand, they really, you know, showed their hand at
- 8:16Speaker 6: their little upset, but I think that's just a part
- 8:20Speaker 6: of this growth though. I think the team has been
- 8:22Speaker 6: working extremely hard. We got a bunch of new functionality coming.
- 8:26Speaker 6: We're closing this round. If you got I'm not gonna
- 8:29Speaker 6: put you on the spot. But if you guys aren't
- 8:30Speaker 6: fan based investors, you should be fan based investors. Let
- 8:33Speaker 6: me tell you why. Because we've had the best week
- 8:35Speaker 6: we ever had. The minimum to invest in the company
- 8:37Speaker 6: is two hundred and forty five dollars, right, That's like
- 8:40Speaker 6: I say, people buy shoes. I see people go, you know,
- 8:43Speaker 6: getting drinks at the club, have a good Saturday night.
- 8:46Speaker 6: Imagine that, and then you spend the same amount of
- 8:49Speaker 6: money on shares and fan base in eight years from now,
- 8:51Speaker 6: you're like, wait, that company that I spent and were public.
- 8:54Speaker 6: Wait my two hundred and forty five dollars is worth
- 8:56Speaker 6: two hundred and fifty thousand dollars, Like, oh Apple, Like
- 9:00Speaker 6: that's what.
- 9:01Speaker 2: That's why.
- 9:01Speaker 6: That's the opportunity that I'm giving people on why I
- 9:03Speaker 6: think it's so important because we all can we all
- 9:06Speaker 6: control the ability to make the platform valuable by using it.
- 9:09Speaker 6: I'm gonna get baller alert on fan base and audio rooms.
- 9:13Speaker 6: You guys should pull up on the audio rooms now
- 9:14Speaker 6: because they get a little spicy. Okay, we're down, they're down.
- 9:18Speaker 6: They're a little they're a little spicy. But it's a
- 9:20Speaker 6: great way to build like real time audio. Like my version,
- 9:24Speaker 6: my version, my vision of audio is different from what
- 9:26Speaker 6: these other platforms are doing. But it's truly entertaining. I mean,
- 9:30Speaker 6: our rooms are getting mastered to there. They're crashing the app.
- 9:32Speaker 6: Then we got to wake up at three I've been
- 9:33Speaker 6: up to three o'clock in the morning every day this
- 9:35Speaker 6: week because it's like literally the app will be like glitching,
- 9:39Speaker 6: and then we got to wake up and fix it.
- 9:41Speaker 6: And I gotta go like host rooms, and people are saying,
- 9:44Speaker 6: you know, a whole group of people want to move
- 9:46Speaker 6: over from from club.
- 9:47Speaker 2: All because you're getting so much traffic. Yeah, it's it's
- 9:50Speaker 2: forcing us to grow, it's forcing us to be better.
- 9:52Speaker 6: That's good. That's a good thing. Crashing app is good.
- 9:54Speaker 6: That's why I say, crash our app. Keep doing it
- 9:56Speaker 6: because it makes us better. We have to fix the
- 9:57Speaker 6: app to make it dope. I just did a We
- 10:00Speaker 6: just did the first ever in the history ever academic
- 10:04Speaker 6: partnership within HBCU and a social media platform like academically
- 10:08Speaker 6: so with CAU so I was down at CU yesterday.
- 10:12Speaker 6: Fan Base is going to be taught as a class
- 10:15Speaker 6: at Clark Atlanta University. So tons of things about marketing,
- 10:21Speaker 6: emerging technology, you know, building an audience, all these things.
- 10:26Speaker 6: You know, these kids that are really really interested, and
- 10:27Speaker 6: so they were excited. I showed them the app. I
- 10:30Speaker 6: got to show them the whole app. They got excited
- 10:32Speaker 6: about three things. The first thing they got excited about
- 10:34Speaker 6: was making money because I went live and made like
- 10:36Speaker 6: fifty dollars in like five minutes, and they were like, Okay,
- 10:39Speaker 6: that's crazy. Second thing was you can move your content
- 10:42Speaker 6: from Instagram over to fan Base and it stays on Instagram,
- 10:45Speaker 6: but you just migrated over, so it just ships it over.
- 10:47Speaker 2: You can do that on TikTok.
- 10:48Speaker 6: And the third thing that they got excited about, which
- 10:50Speaker 6: I was really surprised, that they wanted to invest. And
- 10:53Speaker 6: I was like, you should invest because you guys are
- 10:55Speaker 6: the ones that are going to benefit this two hundred
- 10:57Speaker 6: and forty five dollars.
- 10:58Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying.
- 10:59Speaker 6: I know college kids don't have a lot of money,
- 11:01Speaker 6: but some of them do and have the ability, and
- 11:03Speaker 6: it's a better investment than I'm gonna go, you know,
- 11:07Speaker 6: run out and this weekend and hang out with my
- 11:08Speaker 6: friends spend two hundred forty five dollars on some things
- 11:10Speaker 6: that I'm never going to get back there that are
- 11:12Speaker 6: not tangible. So that was the best part about that.
- 11:14Speaker 4: So we'll be right back, but more of a baller
- 11:17Speaker 4: Alert Show. You're listening to a special edition of the
- 11:23Speaker 4: baller Alert Show.
- 11:24Speaker 2: What's up?
- 11:25Speaker 6: This is Isaac Hay's the third founder and CEO fan Base,
- 11:27Speaker 6: and you're tuned into the baller Alert Show.
- 11:29Speaker 3: You know, you've been building this app for a while,
- 11:32Speaker 3: just like you said, as a black app, and like
- 11:34Speaker 3: you said, just getting up at three o'clock.
- 11:36Speaker 5: In the morning.
- 11:37Speaker 3: As it's growing, it's crashing and you have to you know,
- 11:40Speaker 3: fix it and things of that nature.
- 11:42Speaker 5: Can you kind of like take us into what that's like.
- 11:46Speaker 6: Yeah, well, I mean I have an amazing team. My
- 11:49Speaker 6: CTO Ramiro and the team are incredible. They build the
- 11:53Speaker 6: best product ever. Like I said that nothing speaks better.
- 11:57Speaker 6: I can never speak for fan Base better than the
- 12:00Speaker 6: app itself. Could you just download it, you use it,
- 12:03Speaker 6: you see for yourself. What's going on. It's been fun
- 12:05Speaker 6: because I'm a newbie to the space. This is the
- 12:08Speaker 6: first time I've ever tried to build an app. I
- 12:10Speaker 6: think that's a I think that's a blessing though, because
- 12:13Speaker 6: I do not have a blueprint, so therefore I do
- 12:16Speaker 6: not follow any rules that anyone told me to do.
- 12:18Speaker 2: So I don't. I haven't been to Silicon Valley one time.
- 12:21Speaker 2: I have it. No, I haven't.
- 12:22Speaker 6: No, because listen, my friends, a lot of my friends
- 12:26Speaker 6: that are in this space follow the rules and they
- 12:29Speaker 6: got burnt.
- 12:30Speaker 2: They got bad.
- 12:30Speaker 6: Business deals, they got kicked out of their companies, they
- 12:32Speaker 6: got screwed over by investors and stuff like that. And
- 12:35Speaker 6: so me, coming from the music business, I understand that
- 12:37Speaker 6: nothing is more shady than the music business. So tech
- 12:40Speaker 6: it is like chech is like it is nothing, text nothing.
- 12:43Speaker 6: I'm ready, I got thick skin. You know, you're getting
- 12:45Speaker 6: judged as a producer whether your beats are hot or not,
- 12:47Speaker 6: or whether you can make it as a producer your
- 12:49Speaker 6: whole life. So I'm like, I don't. I'm not tripping
- 12:51Speaker 6: about none of that. So not going to.
- 12:55Speaker 2: The VCS, like VCS were like, oh.
- 12:57Speaker 6: Why would you want to be why would you want
- 12:59Speaker 6: to go against Mark Zuckerberg and Facebook like they're giants, and.
- 13:03Speaker 2: Those are the people that give they give me money.
- 13:05Speaker 6: So venture capitals, so are the ones actually fund these startups.
- 13:07Speaker 6: And what's crazy is if you've been seeing what's going
- 13:09Speaker 6: on with Arion Simone and Fearless Fun where they're trying
- 13:12Speaker 6: to sue because of affirmative action. They're trying to block
- 13:15Speaker 6: her because her fund is is dedicated towards women of
- 13:18Speaker 6: color right specifically to fund their businesses. And so I
- 13:22Speaker 6: forget that asshole's name the guy, but he's trying to
- 13:25Speaker 6: sue her because of the Supreme Court decision to make
- 13:28Speaker 6: it illegal for her to give that money, like it
- 13:29Speaker 6: should just be for everybody.
- 13:31Speaker 2: But here's the thing.
- 13:32Speaker 6: Four hundred billion dollars of capital got distributed last year
- 13:35Speaker 6: to all startups. Less than half of one percent went
- 13:39Speaker 6: to minorities period. That's women, black, Latino age. It's like
- 13:45Speaker 6: less than half of one percent. So the other four
- 13:48Speaker 6: hundred billion, damn near went to white men. And that's crazy,
- 13:53Speaker 6: and so it's really really hard. And then they're bad.
- 13:57Speaker 6: They're bad deals. Like it's like I always say, like
- 14:00Speaker 6: think about this. I'll give you my example.
- 14:01Speaker 2: Of tech.
- 14:02Speaker 6: For anybody that knows music, think of vcs as the
- 14:04Speaker 6: record company, and think of startups as the artist. So
- 14:08Speaker 6: if I'm fan based, I have no buzz. I'm just
- 14:10Speaker 6: starting out. So if I go to a vcman like, yo,
- 14:13Speaker 6: can I have some money for my startup? Sure, here's
- 14:14Speaker 6: half a million dollars for twenty five percent of your company.
- 14:17Speaker 6: That's the terrible deal. But somebody that doesn't know better
- 14:21Speaker 6: or is really trying to get on and they'll take
- 14:23Speaker 6: that right. So for me, when I heard that that
- 14:26Speaker 6: was the deal, and then the VC was asked me
- 14:28Speaker 6: should I be Should I should I? Why would I
- 14:31Speaker 6: want to go up against Zuckerberger? I'm like, because I
- 14:33Speaker 6: can build everything you can build, but you can't build
- 14:34Speaker 6: black people. You can't build black culture. These apps don't
- 14:38Speaker 6: work without us. Like we see the economic value that they.
- 14:41Speaker 7: I don't see any of our people with executive job
- 14:44Speaker 7: rolls at end of these major corporations either. Like I
- 14:47Speaker 7: was just you know, looking at Clubhouse, and I was like,
- 14:51Speaker 7: so it it ain't no black executives over they had.
- 14:53Speaker 6: They had no that's what they had black executives over there.
- 14:57Speaker 6: They laid them all off because the way that they
- 15:01Speaker 6: were doing audio wasn't working and they went a different
- 15:04Speaker 6: direction and the app got really toxic.
- 15:07Speaker 2: Me and you were talking.
- 15:08Speaker 6: About that like that, like the appline Clubhouse was like
- 15:11Speaker 6: it got like it got like bloods and crips over there.
- 15:14Speaker 7: Like yeah, like it's it's really like Clubhouse really started
- 15:17Speaker 7: as an invite.
- 15:19Speaker 2: It was like you had to get invited.
- 15:20Speaker 7: It was like exclusive thing that everybody was on because
- 15:23Speaker 7: you know, we was all bored in the pandemic.
- 15:25Speaker 2: And you know, then I will always see you on there.
- 15:27Speaker 7: I would see like Measy, which is twenty one Savage Manager,
- 15:30Speaker 7: and you know, everybody just be on there discussing politics
- 15:33Speaker 7: or you know talk, you know, talking about random stuff.
- 15:36Speaker 2: Then I was like, now, man, it's like gangling on Clubhouse.
- 15:40Speaker 7: You know, anytime I see it on social media, it's like,
- 15:42Speaker 7: you know, involve some b.
- 15:44Speaker 6: For so one one one creator Clubhouse got murdered from
- 15:49Speaker 6: another from another user on Clubhouse, like they stopped them
- 15:52Speaker 6: and killed them or something of or something. And then
- 15:54Speaker 6: and then if people don't know what doxing is, you
- 15:56Speaker 6: guys know what docs. So doxing is that's when the
- 15:58Speaker 6: people that's when they your public information. So they would
- 16:01Speaker 6: post your address and tell your address on Clubhouse, and
- 16:04Speaker 6: then people would pull up the kids at they school
- 16:07Speaker 6: or pull up to their house wun to fight and
- 16:10Speaker 6: get into altercations. And first thing I said is that
- 16:12Speaker 6: culture's not coming.
- 16:13Speaker 5: To fan base, like and how would you prevent that?
- 16:15Speaker 6: Because because because the bad apples that behave like that
- 16:19Speaker 6: won't be on the Apple long enough. Because because and
- 16:21Speaker 6: here's another thing that happened with Clubhouse, because this is crazy.
- 16:26Speaker 6: I was, I was up all night, but I got
- 16:28Speaker 6: up today and I spoke to a large group of
- 16:31Speaker 6: Nigerians that used Clubhouse and they were like, yeah, we
- 16:36Speaker 6: have a seventy five thousand member group on Clubhouse and
- 16:39Speaker 6: I was like, I've never seen you guys. And that's
- 16:42Speaker 6: because Clubhouse was segregated. So they pushed all the white
- 16:45Speaker 6: people to one side, the black people to one side,
- 16:47Speaker 6: the Latinos, the Asians, the Africans. They separated everybody. And
- 16:51Speaker 6: so that's not how audio is supposed to because we're
- 16:53Speaker 6: supposed to communicate and talk with each other. Like I'm
- 16:56Speaker 6: the kind of person like I want I want the
- 16:58Speaker 6: Trump supporters on fanbase, I want them in audio rooms.
- 17:01Speaker 6: Because that was the cool part about Clubhouse You get
- 17:03Speaker 6: to list you could be a fly on the wall
- 17:05Speaker 6: of a community that you never like. Oh, I get
- 17:08Speaker 6: to sit here and listen to these these these a
- 17:10Speaker 6: millionaire real estate guys talk about how they do deals
- 17:13Speaker 6: and just sit there and listen to this.
- 17:15Speaker 5: Yep, I remember that not only Clubhouse.
- 17:17Speaker 3: Do you feel like segregation is throughout all the social
- 17:20Speaker 3: media platforms?
- 17:22Speaker 2: No Clubhouse was.
- 17:23Speaker 6: The Clubhouse was that was done during the pandemic because
- 17:26Speaker 6: of Trump. So people were getting on there and they
- 17:28Speaker 6: were and there was a lot of anti and so
- 17:30Speaker 6: what happened was what really changed It was it wasn't
- 17:31Speaker 6: the black stuff. It was a lot of anti Semitic
- 17:34Speaker 6: things that were being said. And then that started trending
- 17:36Speaker 6: on Twitter. And that's when Clubhouse said, Okay, the Trump
- 17:39Speaker 6: supporters got to we got to push them to one
- 17:40Speaker 6: side because Guota bron was coming on there like it's Clubhouse,
- 17:44Speaker 6: Like it's Club's gonna allow anti Semitism and did it.
- 17:46Speaker 6: So they had to separate everybody, and so they pushed
- 17:49Speaker 6: the black people to one side. The Jewish community, they
- 17:51Speaker 6: did all that they and so they separated everybody. So
- 17:54Speaker 6: now there's this echo chamber of just black people. So
- 17:56Speaker 6: you go in the hallway on Clubhouse and it's all
- 17:59Speaker 6: these rooms of people just doing drama rooms and arguing
- 18:02Speaker 6: and fighting all day. With other social media platforms, I
- 18:04Speaker 6: don't think they necessarily segregated. I do think that it
- 18:08Speaker 6: beholds social media platforms to have very famous white creators
- 18:14Speaker 6: and white stuff.
- 18:14Speaker 7: Because they suppressed they suppressed black content on a lot
- 18:18Speaker 7: of these apps. And we had a guest come by
- 18:22Speaker 7: name Robbie World. Yeah he's a content creator, but I
- 18:25Speaker 7: think awkward was like, you know, what are you guys
- 18:27Speaker 7: doing to kind of like stop that from happening.
- 18:29Speaker 8: And he was like, man, we tried everything. When you
- 18:31Speaker 8: tried everything, I ain't gonna like we tried everything. We
- 18:33Speaker 8: tried striking. It was a TikTok strike we did. It
- 18:37Speaker 8: wasn't posting. At the end of the day, when it
- 18:42Speaker 8: comes to it, we just really just want to have fun,
- 18:45Speaker 8: you know what I'm saying.
- 18:46Speaker 9: And it's just not fair for a creator that just
- 18:50Speaker 9: want to have fun and they getting limited on their views,
- 18:54Speaker 9: you know what I'm saying, so and then getting it
- 18:57Speaker 9: stolen from other people.
- 18:58Speaker 6: I'm gonna look at that. Robbie come to fan base,
- 19:03Speaker 6: come on over, like, here's the thing. The generation that
- 19:07Speaker 6: Robbie's from are the influencer generation. They they wanted to
- 19:13Speaker 6: get large on social media to get brand deals. That's
- 19:16Speaker 6: how you make your money. I get famous and then
- 19:18Speaker 6: a corporation come in and pays me to sponsor this
- 19:19Speaker 6: and do ads and all that kind of stuff. The
- 19:21Speaker 6: generation after them subscription kay Sannat, I predict right now,
- 19:27Speaker 6: say this right now and look at the cameras straight face.
- 19:29Speaker 6: I predict that Kaysuannat will be a billionaire within five years.
- 19:32Speaker 6: I promise you he's going to be a billionaire within
- 19:34Speaker 6: five years. Because that there's nothing That's why I built
- 19:38Speaker 6: fan base. There's nothing in between him and the entire
- 19:40Speaker 6: planet from people subscribing to him. You don't know who
- 19:44Speaker 6: Kaisan that is? If you if you if you saw,
- 19:47Speaker 6: if you saw, Kaysannatt is part of this this group
- 19:49Speaker 6: called a MP. They're gamers and their streamers and they
- 19:52Speaker 6: stream on Twitch all the time. So he became very
- 19:55Speaker 6: very popular a couple months ago, a few months ago
- 19:57Speaker 6: over the summer, because he streamed for an entire month live,
- 20:00Speaker 6: so he big brother his entire life for thirty days
- 20:03Speaker 6: in a row and he got three hundred thousand subscribers
- 20:05Speaker 6: on Twitch and then he became the most successful Twitch
- 20:08Speaker 6: streamer ever. And the kids, you might have heard a
- 20:11Speaker 6: couple of weeks ago he tried to do some sort
- 20:13Speaker 6: of event in New York City and do a giveaway
- 20:15Speaker 6: and then they rushed the park and they had to
- 20:17Speaker 6: call the police out and clear everybody out. And Kay's
- 20:20Speaker 6: an amazing kid, funny dude, great personality. But the power
- 20:24Speaker 6: that he has on the culture, the effect that he
- 20:27Speaker 6: has on young people.
- 20:28Speaker 2: Because I said that to the kids.
- 20:29Speaker 6: At Clark, Yeah so ky so Yeah. So I said
- 20:33Speaker 6: that to the kids at Clark. I said, I think
- 20:34Speaker 6: Kyle's that's going to be a billionaire within five years.
- 20:36Speaker 6: They said five, probably three. Yeah, Like they get it
- 20:39Speaker 6: because they people. That's the thing why I say subscriptions
- 20:43Speaker 6: are important. People want to see people go from the
- 20:46Speaker 6: bottom to the top. These kids want to see Kai
- 20:49Speaker 6: go from playing video games in his bedroom to being
- 20:52Speaker 6: part of AMP to being one of the largest and
- 20:54Speaker 6: most successful gamers and creators online. They want to see
- 20:57Speaker 6: ice Spice go from Because the success of ice Spice
- 20:59Speaker 6: is having right now, it's not overnight. It might look
- 21:02Speaker 6: overnight but I was I was looking like she was
- 21:05Speaker 6: around in twenty eighteen, twenty nineteen, twenty twenty building her sound,
- 21:10Speaker 6: crafting her sound like it's twenty twenty three, so she's
- 21:13Speaker 6: been doing it for two or three years before that.
- 21:15Speaker 5: Like yourself, you've been building this thing for so long.
- 21:18Speaker 2: Yeah, you start so fan base.
- 21:20Speaker 6: I founded the company in twenty eighteen, launching in twenty nineteen,
- 21:23Speaker 6: and then COVID shut us down, but that's why I
- 21:25Speaker 6: was able to raise the capitol, and then when we
- 21:27Speaker 6: got money, twenty twenty one is kind of when we
- 21:29Speaker 6: really started. And so again, our growth was like gradual
- 21:33Speaker 6: all the way from twenty twenty all the way to now.
- 21:35Speaker 6: But the last seven days it goes like whoop and
- 21:37Speaker 6: then go in a straight up line. It's like boom.
- 21:39Speaker 6: It's like, oh, okay, we up. So persistence is extremely important.
- 21:44Speaker 6: And I say that and another thing that I was
- 21:46Speaker 6: gonna make a post about this, but I didn't. But
- 21:48Speaker 6: it was the most It was the realest shit ever.
- 21:52Speaker 6: And Summer Walker and Usher and twenty one Savage put
- 21:56Speaker 6: out this song right god, good good, and I loved
- 22:00Speaker 6: the record and I tagged everybody in the record. And
- 22:02Speaker 6: then when you tag people, they send them a DM. Right,
- 22:06Speaker 6: So I went to my messages and I said, oh,
- 22:10Speaker 6: it send it to Summer. And the crazy thing is,
- 22:13Speaker 6: I've never DMed her, but when I go to my messages,
- 22:16Speaker 6: it's like twenty sixteen, she DM me about her cleaning
- 22:21Speaker 6: service business. Wow, like she was on her grind and
- 22:25Speaker 6: it's amazing, like how far she's come in that period
- 22:28Speaker 6: of time. But she sent me a DM like yeah,
- 22:30Speaker 6: I'm doing this x y Z we can do this,
- 22:32Speaker 6: and da da da da, and it was just and
- 22:34Speaker 6: I never saw it, but crazy, it's like that's what
- 22:37Speaker 6: I mean. You never know it like her life from
- 22:38Speaker 6: that point on. But she was grinding, like she was
- 22:41Speaker 6: on her shit like she was. She was persistent NonStop.
- 22:44Speaker 2: You know.
- 22:44Speaker 6: I think it was like it's like maybe a year
- 22:46Speaker 6: or two later Girls Need Love came out and then
- 22:48Speaker 6: that was it. It was like all right, ween she
- 22:50Speaker 6: and live look back. But you never know when your
- 22:52Speaker 6: moment's going to come. So it's not about it's not
- 22:55Speaker 6: if it's when. It's about keep doing what you're doing,
- 22:58Speaker 6: being persistent when it's going to happen and successful. So
- 23:03Speaker 6: so back to like what was going back to what
- 23:06Speaker 6: was going on, Robbie. I think what's important about that
- 23:08Speaker 6: is is like subscriptions are are going to change the world.
- 23:13Speaker 6: It's like, you know, like when you can pull out
- 23:15Speaker 6: like I pioneered. And I say this because I know
- 23:18Speaker 6: it sounds crazy and people would not probably believe it,
- 23:21Speaker 6: but I invented in that purchased subscription from person to person.
- 23:26Speaker 6: It didn't exist. So when I'm telling you right now,
- 23:28Speaker 6: when you see Instagram have subscriptions and TikTok and Twitter
- 23:33Speaker 6: and Snapchat where you can take.
- 23:35Speaker 7: Your phone, I think Instagram just started doing subscriptions.
- 23:38Speaker 6: No, but that's my point is when you can take
- 23:40Speaker 6: out your phone and press buttons. If I can go
- 23:43Speaker 6: on my if I can go on my phone right now,
- 23:45Speaker 6: right and go to fan base and find an artist
- 23:49Speaker 6: like fine, let me see, let me find uh okay.
- 23:51Speaker 6: If I get to hit a button right and hit
- 23:53Speaker 6: that button and then hit subscribe and then just subscribe
- 23:56Speaker 6: like that again, I invented that. No other app able
- 24:00Speaker 6: to do that. You cannot do that with any other app.
- 24:03Speaker 6: So that's what makes it important is because now there's
- 24:06Speaker 6: nothing in between the rest of the world and all
- 24:09Speaker 6: of you from making money.
- 24:11Speaker 2: Now one thing.
- 24:12Speaker 6: I don't care if, like so, if one hundred thousand
- 24:15Speaker 6: people want to subscribe to you, there's nothing stopping from
- 24:18Speaker 6: tapping that button and hitting that button. And that's to
- 24:20Speaker 6: every single person. And I say all the time, if
- 24:22Speaker 6: you're not you're not monetizing your content today, five years
- 24:26Speaker 6: from now, you're going to be out earned by somebody
- 24:27Speaker 6: that's less talented than you are that decided to do
- 24:30Speaker 6: do so. It's not about talent, it is about persistence.
- 24:33Speaker 6: I think there's a lot of talented people out here
- 24:35Speaker 6: in social media that I think they can dance and
- 24:37Speaker 6: they can act and they can sing, and they're upset
- 24:38Speaker 6: that they're not famous. But it's like, you got to
- 24:40Speaker 6: think differently. You're not these all these apps, like every
- 24:44Speaker 6: single body on social media shadow band. We're all shadow band.
- 24:48Speaker 6: You me, everybody's shadow band. It's done because that's how
- 24:51Speaker 6: they make money. A simple, simple statement. When I say
- 24:54Speaker 6: that you're gonna have the aha moment. And I think
- 24:56Speaker 6: I said this before, but when I was here last time,
- 24:57Speaker 6: But why would Instagram let you press button and send
- 25:01Speaker 6: a video content to a million people when they charge
- 25:05Speaker 6: Coca Cola to do the same thing.
- 25:06Speaker 4: We'll be right by stay hulled with more of The
- 25:09Speaker 4: Baller Alert Show. You're listening to a special edition of
- 25:19Speaker 4: The Baller Alert Show.
- 25:20Speaker 2: What's Up?
- 25:21Speaker 6: This is Isaac Hayes, the third founder and see of
- 25:23Speaker 6: fan Base, and you're tuned into the Baller Alert Show.
- 25:26Speaker 7: You know, I was talking to somebody about that, and
- 25:28Speaker 7: now that I remember, it was you that said that,
- 25:30Speaker 7: because I was like, man, I said, I think what
- 25:32Speaker 7: social media is doing now. They're they're forcing you to
- 25:35Speaker 7: pay to get your content to be seen.
- 25:37Speaker 6: Yeah, they're forcuning you to run as yourselves because if
- 25:40Speaker 6: they could, right, if I could just post what reason Okay,
- 25:44Speaker 6: I'll say this, like, what reason would Coca Cola pay
- 25:48Speaker 6: Instagram or Facebook to run an ad? If I could
- 25:51Speaker 6: come directly to someone like Robbie who has over a
- 25:54Speaker 6: million followers and just take put your commercial on our page,
- 25:57Speaker 6: you know what I'm saying. It's like they would never
- 25:59Speaker 6: run ads. So they gotta smush your ship down because
- 26:02Speaker 6: that's how they make money. And then they lie to
- 26:04Speaker 6: you and say, oh, we want you to post more
- 26:08Speaker 6: so you trick the algorithm. But what you're giving them
- 26:10Speaker 6: is more real estate.
- 26:12Speaker 5: And have your baby on live.
- 26:14Speaker 2: Oh yeah, I mean, yeah, that was that was a
- 26:16Speaker 2: little extreme.
- 26:17Speaker 5: Millions and millions of views on.
- 26:19Speaker 6: Her page, right, But and my point was she could
- 26:22Speaker 6: have put that behind a paywall.
- 26:25Speaker 2: Because now you saw she could.
- 26:27Speaker 6: Have did a whole baby, she could have done a
- 26:29Speaker 6: whole maternity special, and they would have paid for that
- 26:33Speaker 6: base on fan base.
- 26:35Speaker 5: So what's the future of fan base?
- 26:37Speaker 6: So the future is content, like so fan base Plus
- 26:43Speaker 6: and I'll show you guys like you guys might not
- 26:44Speaker 6: have seen this. And this is why I say it's important,
- 26:46Speaker 6: is that we launched fan Base Plus on desktop and
- 26:51Speaker 6: so so fan Base Plus on desktop is where now
- 26:54Speaker 6: it's like YouTube, So you can upload free videos up
- 26:57Speaker 6: to two hours and you can or you can put
- 26:59Speaker 6: them behind a paywall. So if you have a TV show,
- 27:01Speaker 6: a documentary, reality series, a maternity special, a concert, whatever
- 27:06Speaker 6: you want, you can put it behind a paywall and
- 27:07Speaker 6: charge anywhere from two dollars and ninety nine cents to
- 27:10Speaker 6: ninety nine ninety nine a month for people to see
- 27:12Speaker 6: that content your Netflix. And that's that's that's important because
- 27:16Speaker 6: of the writers strike that's going on right now, like
- 27:18Speaker 6: all these all these people are out of work. They
- 27:20Speaker 6: just need to start making their own shows and putting
- 27:22Speaker 6: and then distributing them on fan Base because like, you
- 27:25Speaker 6: don't have to worry about the studio anymore. You can
- 27:27Speaker 6: just take your money and then it's direct to you.
- 27:28Speaker 6: You're not going through Netflix, you're not going through Disney Plus,
- 27:31Speaker 6: you're not going through Hulu or Amazon Prime, you're not
- 27:34Speaker 6: going through none of the major networks like ABC and nothing.
- 27:37Speaker 6: It's just like, Okay, It's like the successive fan base
- 27:40Speaker 6: is gonna be kind of a hybrid of what Es
- 27:42Speaker 6: did when she went from awkward Black Girl to Insecure.
- 27:45Speaker 6: That same thing is gonna happen on fan Base Plus.
- 27:48Speaker 6: But it's never gonna leave because the show's gonna grow.
- 27:51Speaker 6: Then they're gonna get more subscribers, and they're gonna get
- 27:53Speaker 6: better equipment, and they're gonna get more money.
- 27:55Speaker 2: They can get more subscribers.
- 27:56Speaker 5: Now, when you own some of that content, what if
- 27:59Speaker 5: people post on your.
- 28:01Speaker 6: No and I want to make it. I want to
- 28:03Speaker 6: make it that way for a reason, unless we do
- 28:05Speaker 6: like exclusive partnerships. Your content is your content. So if
- 28:08Speaker 6: your stuff blows up and Netflix wants to come and
- 28:10Speaker 6: buy your show and say, hey, we want to buy
- 28:12Speaker 6: your show and take it off fan base and put
- 28:14Speaker 6: it on a major, a major platform. You can do that, right,
- 28:18Speaker 6: but you have a decision to make because once you
- 28:21Speaker 6: do that, the opposite is you don't own the content anymore.
- 28:25Speaker 6: You don't call the shots, and you don't make the
- 28:27Speaker 6: lion's share of the revenue on fan base.
- 28:29Speaker 2: You do.
- 28:30Speaker 6: You own it, you call the shots, you make the
- 28:32Speaker 6: line share. The revenue is your stuff. To do with it,
- 28:34Speaker 6: what you want to do with it.
- 28:35Speaker 3: So, if you're a content creator, please y'all subscribe to
- 28:38Speaker 3: fan base. Get yes, get your user id, password, everything.
- 28:42Speaker 3: Everybody go over to fan base, May Isaac, y'all gonna.
- 28:45Speaker 6: Lee clubhouse and then invest invest in the company because
- 28:50Speaker 6: you can go to start Engine, dot com slash fan
- 28:52Speaker 6: base to invest. The minimum to invest is two hundred
- 28:55Speaker 6: and forty five dollars. I'm about to close this raise
- 28:57Speaker 6: and then we're about to do something really, really big,
- 28:59Speaker 6: So actually own a part of it. I always plug
- 29:01Speaker 6: the raids because like ownership is extremely important. Do you
- 29:05Speaker 6: know that Facebook is worth five hundred billion dollars with
- 29:09Speaker 6: the B? Do you know that TikTok is worth three
- 29:11Speaker 6: hundred billion dollars with a B? But boy, my god,
- 29:15Speaker 6: all the dances and all the music that we put
- 29:17Speaker 6: on there, and we don't have any generational wealth and
- 29:20Speaker 6: no ownership or no equity and all that, especially young
- 29:22Speaker 6: people artists, like it's gonna change though, that's why, that's
- 29:25Speaker 6: why I'm being disrupted.
- 29:26Speaker 2: But yeah, for.
- 29:26Speaker 5: Sure, their platforms own a piece of their stuff.
- 29:29Speaker 6: Yeah, well it's not that they own a piece of
- 29:31Speaker 6: this stuff. They're just running all these ads and making money.
- 29:34Speaker 6: They're making so much money off ad revenue, and so
- 29:38Speaker 6: it's important that we do that, and you know, that's
- 29:40Speaker 6: that's my goal. That's why, that's why I'm here to
- 29:42Speaker 6: talk about that, other than the clubhouse mess. With fan
- 29:45Speaker 6: base going viral, people are hitting us up. Then it's
- 29:48Speaker 6: like again, it's like I'm independent. I sold I sold
- 29:52Speaker 6: nine and a half million dollars worth of shares out
- 29:54Speaker 6: the truck of my car like master p and so
- 29:56Speaker 6: now we now were coming to the charts. So now
- 29:58Speaker 6: when the phone start ringing, it's not going to be
- 30:00Speaker 6: I want to give you half a million for twenty
- 30:02Speaker 6: five percent of your company. It's going to be I
- 30:03Speaker 6: want to give you one hundred million for eight percent
- 30:06Speaker 6: of your company.
- 30:07Speaker 2: I'll take that deal.
- 30:08Speaker 5: You will be a billionaire very very soon.
- 30:10Speaker 3: And we're so proud of you, and thank you for
- 30:12Speaker 3: stopping bother the Butlo Alert Show.
- 30:13Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 30:14Speaker 5: Always welcome.
- 30:15Speaker 3: Before we get out of here, though you got to
- 30:17Speaker 3: leave us with a pep talk.
- 30:18Speaker 2: Your moment is your moment.
- 30:21Speaker 6: I met some young people this week that were concerned
- 30:24Speaker 6: about success and how they're want to be successful at life,
- 30:27Speaker 6: and I was like, never, never judge your life on
- 30:30Speaker 6: everybody else around you. Your time is your time. When
- 30:32Speaker 6: it's your time to shine, it's your time to shine.
- 30:36Speaker 6: Samuel Jackson is the highest grossing box office actor of
- 30:39Speaker 6: all time, and he didn't blow up till he was
- 30:41Speaker 6: forty five. So imagine if you're nineteen years old and
- 30:45Speaker 6: your moment is when you're forty five. You have to
- 30:47Speaker 6: keep going. You never know you've got time right use
- 30:51Speaker 6: that time though while you're young, while you can stay
- 30:53Speaker 6: up till three in the morning, seven days a week,
- 30:55Speaker 6: like I have to really, you know, harness your goal,
- 30:58Speaker 6: harness your craft, and work hard. So when you see
- 31:02Speaker 6: someone like Ice Spice make it it's not overnight. It
- 31:05Speaker 6: was her time and she was working. And so some
- 31:07Speaker 6: people work a really long time to blow up and
- 31:10Speaker 6: be successful. So persistence in the same way that I
- 31:13Speaker 6: say with fan bases, I've been persistent. We've had this
- 31:15Speaker 6: startup for four plus years and we've had the best
- 31:19Speaker 6: week ever in year five.
- 31:21Speaker 2: That's crazy.
- 31:22Speaker 6: If I would have given up two years ago, we
- 31:24Speaker 6: would have never got to this point. So that is
- 31:26Speaker 6: why you have to be persistent and don't worry about
- 31:29Speaker 6: everybody else's race. Your race is your race. Run your
- 31:32Speaker 6: race and don't worry about everybody else.
