- 0:37Speaker 1: we want a full house and I think you're going
- 0:38Speaker 1: to enjoy what we have going on here. First of all,
- 0:42Speaker 1: it is now confirmed we are going to have a guest,
- 0:46Speaker 1: Tony Vayanuku. He's a documentary filmmaker. He's been on our
- 0:52Speaker 1: show before. But he's really an interesting guy, a fascinating guy.
- 0:56Speaker 1: He's from Salt Lake. His first movie was what was
- 1:01Speaker 1: it called? It was about football ball. It was I've
- 1:04Speaker 1: got it here somewhere. It was premiered at the Sundance
- 1:10Speaker 1: in Football We Trust. It premiered at the Sundance Film
- 1:13Speaker 1: Festival back in I think twenty fifteen or something like that.
- 1:18Speaker 1: But he also directed a documentary that was on Netflix.
- 1:22Speaker 1: I think it's still there, Untold The Girlfriend who Didn't Exist. Yeah,
- 1:28Speaker 1: I watched this, Yeah, the Mantiteo story about that, the
- 1:31Speaker 1: young guy who got catfish got catfish bad. So anyway,
- 1:36Speaker 1: Tony is going to be with us on the panel.
- 1:40Speaker 1: And he's an interesting guy. He's got some projects he
- 1:43Speaker 1: wants to talk about. He's recently signed with a production company,
- 1:46Speaker 1: and he's really done well for himself. You like to
- 1:50Speaker 1: highlight local folks that are working in the business. He
- 1:54Speaker 1: and his parents were immigrants. His father was from Tonga,
- 1:59Speaker 1: his mother's from Holland. And Tony grew up here, graduated
- 2:03Speaker 1: from Westminster. And he's an interesting guy. So he'll be
- 2:07Speaker 1: with us and then this you'll recall Jeff Dixon has
- 2:13Speaker 1: been on our show before. He's a screenwriter. He lives
- 2:17Speaker 1: in Los Angeles with his wife and two daughters. He's
- 2:20Speaker 1: the horror writer. Yeah, he has a show on Apple.
- 2:23Speaker 1: I think yes, he does have it on Apple right now.
- 2:26Speaker 1: It is called current I want to say it's Currents.
- 2:32Speaker 1: It's a horror kind of animation from from him. He
- 2:36Speaker 1: wrote it with some other people and I think DreamWorks
- 2:38Speaker 1: produces it. It is on Apple TV right now. Well,
- 2:44Speaker 1: Jeff and his family lost everything in the fire in La.
- 2:52Speaker 1: He now his well, let me just tell you about
- 2:56Speaker 1: his his He had a condo there in his face,
- 3:00Speaker 1: his two daughters grew up there, and everything is gone.
- 3:05Speaker 1: Everything burned down. All of his memorabilia, all of the
- 3:08Speaker 1: things that he's collected over the years, everything burned to
- 3:11Speaker 1: the ground. Jeff and his wife were both from here,
- 3:15Speaker 1: from Salt Lake, but he moved to La twenty years
- 3:21Speaker 1: ago or a little less than twenty years ago, with
- 3:23Speaker 1: hopes of becoming a screenwriter. And he's done it. He's
- 3:26Speaker 1: worked hard, and he has become a screenwriter, and he's
- 3:30Speaker 1: always listened to our show even though he left the area.
- 3:33Speaker 1: His daughters, Bella and Ava. Yeah, Bella and Ava are
- 3:41Speaker 1: here going to the University of Utah. He writes a
- 3:45Speaker 1: little bit about them to me. He said, both my
- 3:48Speaker 1: girls are the rare born in La Breed. Since La
- 3:52Speaker 1: is such a city of transplants, they love to own
- 3:54Speaker 1: the fact that they're La girls through and through. But
- 3:58Speaker 1: since both my wife and I grew up in Utah,
- 4:00Speaker 1: we wanted to give them as much of the hometown
- 4:02Speaker 1: vibe as we could, and that's how we ended up
- 4:04Speaker 1: in Pacific Palisades because the Palisades was basically LA's pleasant bille.
- 4:10Speaker 1: They both were girl scouts. They did theater at the
- 4:12Speaker 1: local playhouse, headed down to the beach on occasion. They
- 4:15Speaker 1: had a pretty normal non La childhood, the same you
- 4:19Speaker 1: would have anywhere else, only with Disneyland season passes and
- 4:22Speaker 1: the occasional small role as a zombie in a horror
- 4:25Speaker 1: video game. True story. At any rate, Bella and Ava,
- 4:29Speaker 1: the daughters, they're here and they're going to join us
- 4:33Speaker 1: on the panel at Squatters. And I want to say
- 4:37Speaker 1: one more thing about Jeff Dixon and his family. They
- 4:40Speaker 1: have a gofund me because they lost everything. He said.
- 4:44Speaker 1: I wish condo owners didn't get screwed so we didn't
- 4:48Speaker 1: have to do something like this. But I do appreciate
- 4:50Speaker 1: the love from everyone. It's helping bring back a bit
- 4:53Speaker 1: of my faith in humanity. A warning to condo owners everywhere,
- 4:57Speaker 1: check your insurance carefully. Yes, so if you want to
- 5:01Speaker 1: help out Jeff Dixon and his wife. He and his
- 5:03Speaker 1: wife are still down there trying to get things together,
- 5:06Speaker 1: you can donate on GoFundMe. It's a restore hope for
- 5:09Speaker 1: Amy Dixon, Jeff Dixon and family. And that's at GoFundMe
