Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Right, we missed him yesterday for NFL picks.
- 0:05Speaker 1: We got him on the line to look ahead to the?
- 0:08Speaker 1: U.
- 0:08Speaker 1: As you're hosting Louisville, louisville's trying to lock up a spot in Charlotte.
- 0:14Speaker 1: Miami could cause a lot of chaos in the ACC.
- 0:18Speaker 1: We got Justin, our Miami contributor, on the line Before we get to that.
- 0:25Speaker 1: Just so everybody knows, you did pick Baltimore.
- 0:30Speaker 1: He's also got Pittsburgh, miami, detroit, jacksonville, the Chargers, texans, cowboys, commanders, niners, bills, seahawks, vikings and Chiefs as his NFL winners for week 11 and he is our leader in the clubhouse.
- 0:48Speaker 1: Justin, welcome in man.
- 0:52Speaker 2: Did everybody pick Sincey last night?
- 0:54Speaker 1: No, we had to.
- 0:55Speaker 1: No, Of course, our guy in last place did, Timmy did.
- 1:01Speaker 2: All right, good, as long as it wasn't Al.
- 1:05Speaker 1: Yeah, no, Baltimore, the man they came to play, and then Joe Burrow with the injury.
- 1:10Speaker 1: That was not what you want to see.
- 1:14Speaker 2: Yeah, that was the weirdest looking injury too.
- 1:16Speaker 2: Man, Like you like do a little flutter pass and then start.
- 1:19Speaker 1: Well, yeah, he was hurt before the game.
- 1:21Speaker 1: They showed him and arriving to the stadium and they had an injury there.
- 1:26Speaker 1: But yeah, he was hurt before the game.
- 1:29Speaker 1: The Baltimore looks like for real, although Cleveland's right there too, I mean.
- 1:36Speaker 1: Nfl, who knows man?
- 1:37Speaker 1: I'm telling you, you do.
- 1:38Speaker 1: I know apparently or your Lions again because I picked that was a great game, though that was a great game.
- 1:47Speaker 1: Yeah, that was the best game of the weekend.
- 1:49Speaker 1: What excites you, though, before we get there about that, about your picks what was your strongest pick?
- 1:57Speaker 2: Honestly, I felt really good about the pick last night.
- 2:00Speaker 1: Yeah, Baltimore at home, I mean especially on the short week.
- 2:04Speaker 2: Yeah, that was my entire thinking of.
- 2:06Speaker 2: It was short week, baltimore at home, I didn't even know about the burrow injury.
- 2:10Speaker 2: If I did, I would have.
- 2:11Speaker 2: I'd have bet the mortgage on that.
- 2:14Speaker 1: Right, right.
- 2:15Speaker 1: Well, miami, after playing a hard fought game in Tallahassee, is gonna be at home at a noon game against the second ranked team in the conference, louisville Cardinals.
- 2:28Speaker 1: Lot on the line.
- 2:30Speaker 1: Tbd back in the lineup because the injury to Emery Williams.
- 2:34Speaker 1: What are you looking forward to in this game?
- 2:40Speaker 2: Well, the matchup that is gonna really tell the game is gonna be Miami's front seven against that running back from Louisville Jordan.
- 2:49Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 2:52Speaker 2: Because that kid, I mean he's almost two, like I think.
- 2:55Speaker 2: Let's see, I got here 100 yards away from hitting the 2,000 yard mark this season.
- 3:01Speaker 1: That's incredible.
- 3:02Speaker 2: It really is man, and he's gonna have to go against that Miami front seven which squashes the run really really well.
- 3:10Speaker 2: So that's gonna be the matchup of the game right there, that, and if TBD can keep it under three turnovers, then Miami's got a shot.
- 3:22Speaker 1: Yeah, six and four Miami Bowl eligible, though.
- 3:25Speaker 1: What do you think?
- 3:27Speaker 1: How do you think TBD?
- 3:29Speaker 1: How would you call this game if you were Miami?
- 3:33Speaker 2: Well, I would start Jacuri Brown.
- 3:35Speaker 2: Oh, because I think TBD is mentally broken.
- 3:43Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 3:44Speaker 2: Yeah, he's got the arm.
- 3:46Speaker 1: I mean, he's got one of the best arms in the nation.
- 3:49Speaker 2: Yeah, and when it's weird because, like you look at, I can't remember which game it was, but right when we started losing, tbd had a game where he was like 32 for 39 for like almost 400 yards, but three picks in the worst possible situations and we lost.
- 4:09Speaker 2: Yeah, so he can be accurate.
- 4:12Speaker 2: Like you said, he's got a strong arm.
- 4:14Speaker 2: He's got all the time in the world behind that wall of an offensive line, but I just think he's mentally broken man.
- 4:20Speaker 2: I think he's like the college version of Ryan Leif at this point.
- 4:23Speaker 2: Oh man, well, we're had everything.
- 4:29Speaker 2: He had the arm, he had the accuracy and he just got mentally broken early in his NFL career and never, ever had a chance at coming back and I think last year broke TVD.
- 4:43Speaker 1: Well, you know they still have.
- 4:44Speaker 1: Miami now is a one and a half point favorite for this game.
- 4:49Speaker 2: Oh, I do not like that.
- 4:52Speaker 1: Where would you put your money at?
- 4:56Speaker 2: If I'm not a Keynes fan, I bet on the Louisville Moneyline.
- 5:00Speaker 2: But me, me and me, I would have to take.
- 5:05Speaker 2: Yeah, I'd have to take the Keynes.
- 5:07Speaker 2: I'd have to take the Keynes.
- 5:10Speaker 1: I think they're going to win.
- 5:13Speaker 2: I love your confidence bro.
- 5:14Speaker 1: No, I mean I just if they play with the same effort they did in the Florida State game.
- 5:19Speaker 1: They've had problems in the past, though after the FSU game this this season.
- 5:23Speaker 1: It's at the end of the season though we haven't.
- 5:25Speaker 1: Miami and Florida State hadn't played this late in the season in a while, and so we'll see what happens after you come.
- 5:33Speaker 1: Those games have been in Miami kind of took a drop in the past.
- 5:37Speaker 1: You know, will they be able to get a big win, cause it's a top 10 team coming in to your stadium?
- 5:44Speaker 1: This is a big.
- 5:46Speaker 1: I mean you still need to show something here.
- 5:48Speaker 1: There's still a lot to play for.
- 5:50Speaker 1: And how they respond.
- 5:51Speaker 1: I'm really anxious to see how Miami responds to this game.
- 5:55Speaker 1: I'm sure a lot of recruits are anxious to see how how they respond to this game against a quality opponent.
- 6:01Speaker 1: If they come out and lay an egg here and lose at home, even know it's to a good Louisville team, I don't know, but that defense showed me something I think they can get after it.
- 6:13Speaker 1: I don't know if Louisville's quarterback has what it takes to to make those kind of throws, and I think Miami can get to get to them defensively.
- 6:23Speaker 2: That's really what it's going to boil down to.
- 6:25Speaker 2: Like I said, it's the the front seven.
- 6:27Speaker 2: If we can, if we can shut that run game down and then you got Cam Kinshens just running around in the secondary and James Williams running around back there we could get some turnovers Cause, like you said, the Louisville is is there a straight up a running team at this point.
- 6:42Speaker 2: If they can't run the ball, they're in trouble.
- 6:45Speaker 2: That's what happened in their one loss this year.
- 6:46Speaker 2: They struggled running the running the ball.
- 6:48Speaker 2: And so if Miami can, if they can keep that run, if they can keep them in third and six or more on every five, then Miami is going to be an awesome shape.
- 7:01Speaker 1: Right.
- 7:02Speaker 1: What does this, what does this, what does this win mean to you in terms of what type of season this is for Miami?
- 7:11Speaker 2: It really could be a huge turning point Um moving forward, not this season.
- 7:17Speaker 1: No, yeah, but I think this season yeah, for the off season, for next year, right?
- 7:22Speaker 2: Yeah, Cause a win here against the top 10.
- 7:25Speaker 2: Louisville Right One it's.
- 7:26Speaker 2: It's a quality win.
- 7:27Speaker 2: It can be a, you know, a crystal ball signature win, because right now he's got some good signature losses.
- 7:33Speaker 2: Right, that's true, but uh, a good signature win against the top 10 team go a wrench in the ACC championship game.
- 7:42Speaker 1: Man, it's going to be crazy if that happens.
- 7:45Speaker 2: And then follow up next week with a win over a week.
- 7:47Speaker 1: Boston college team in Miami ends the season eight and four Right and then a chance to go nine and four with the game that's yeah.
- 7:53Speaker 1: I mean, you have that on the line or you lose this game.
- 7:57Speaker 1: You're six and five, you know that's.
- 8:01Speaker 1: This is really a momentum program, momentum shifting game for Miami, I believe.
- 8:09Speaker 2: It.
- 8:09Speaker 2: You know what is it.
- 8:10Speaker 2: I brought this up earlier in the season how this team was kind of reminding me of the 99 hurricanes like the UCLA game the UCLA game.
- 8:23Speaker 2: It's exactly where I was going to it Well.
- 8:26Speaker 2: I've been saying that all year I thought this team reminds me of that Keynes team.
- 8:31Speaker 2: They really do Well you'd, if you have the pros running around the field.
- 8:35Speaker 2: You know, you had Reggie Waynes, the Santana Mosses and then you had butch Davis, who also was a fantastic Truder.
- 8:43Speaker 1: I think you got to go TBD here, stardom, but different.
- 8:47Speaker 1: Run the ball, don't take a lot of chances if it's not their, throw it away.
- 8:51Speaker 1: Easy reads, not a lot of thinking.
- 8:54Speaker 1: You know simple.
- 8:56Speaker 1: Simplify it uses arm, uses speed.
- 8:59Speaker 1: You have, use the ground came that you, that you got, and then take advantage of the skill set that TBD has.
- 9:06Speaker 1: Don't give them a lot of options here.
- 9:09Speaker 1: You know they might have to scratch it.
- 9:10Speaker 1: I mean, you want to win or not?
- 9:13Speaker 2: I Go the exact opposite sling it If I'm, if I'm Miami's coach right now want to do what he did against A&M I.
- 9:21Speaker 2: Bring in jacquerie Brown.
- 9:24Speaker 2: Okay, I raise coach Herman boom from the dead and I run the veer.
- 9:30Speaker 2: I Just run it.
- 9:33Speaker 2: I put, I get the stable of running backs out there, man, put them in, put them at wing back and just run the ball.
- 9:40Speaker 2: Because what we saw from jacquerie Brown last year is that dude can run the ball.
- 9:46Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 9:46Speaker 2: I from the quarterback.
- 9:48Speaker 2: Yeah, he's big, he's fast, he's strong.
- 9:51Speaker 2: Um, I come out and I just try and ground and pound it with them and get into old 1950s style game.
- 9:58Speaker 2: And if that doesn't work, then you can always bring TVD off the bench to switch it up, because you bring in jacquerie Brad.
- 10:02Speaker 2: If TVD screws up early, bringing in jacquerie Brown's not gonna do anything, but you bring in jacquerie Brown, you throw something at Louisville that you haven't put on tape all year and you let our athletes get out.
- 10:14Speaker 2: They're running you little offensive line, dominate that game right and.
- 10:17Speaker 2: Then, if that doesn't work, you could always bring in TVD and throw it around the yard.
- 10:23Speaker 1: Okay, well, what do you think they'll do that?
- 10:26Speaker 2: Of course not.
- 10:27Speaker 2: They don't listen to anything I say.
- 10:29Speaker 1: Well, if you want.
- 10:31Speaker 1: Well, okay, before we get out of here, 10-year Celebration for FSU.
- 10:37Speaker 1: You know, if you want to listen, we've done some throwback Thursdays in the archives.
- 10:41Speaker 1: We did 2013 already, but Just again from a Miami perspective.
- 10:47Speaker 1: What do you remember about that matchup against the 2013 Seminoles?
- 10:54Speaker 2: Was that the year that Duke Johnson blew up in the first half?
- 10:57Speaker 1: Yeah it was a close game.
- 10:58Speaker 1: It was a Devonta Freeman, I believe, had a big game.
- 11:05Speaker 2: Then I met.
- 11:06Speaker 2: What I remember most about that game was if Duke Johnson comes back sec.
- 11:10Speaker 3: I hope here we go.
- 11:11Speaker 2: Oh, here I mean, I had a real shot at winning that game.
- 11:14Speaker 1: I don't know about that.
- 11:15Speaker 1: It might have scored more, but it I mean it was Close at half, and then, you know, the floodgates opened.
- 11:22Speaker 2: Then our, then our NFL running back got injured part of the game.
- 11:27Speaker 1: Yeah, and like I said, if the NFL running back, we had in the backfield well, I mean I'd still think you know, I mean you can say that about a lot of matchups in the past.
- 11:37Speaker 2: Hey, well, you asked me what I thought.
- 11:39Speaker 2: I know I shouldn't know better, I should have known better.
- 11:42Speaker 1: That was a stupid question.
- 11:43Speaker 1: Never asked, that's my biggest memory of that.
- 11:47Speaker 1: We're going to the tailgate tomorrow.
- 11:50Speaker 2: Now they're retiring James's number, so I'm trying to number with a big old.
- 11:58Speaker 1: Oh man, I wish that would be good.
- 12:01Speaker 2: Giving out crab legs.
- 12:02Speaker 2: All that's what you need to do.
- 12:04Speaker 2: If you're going to the tailgate, you have got to get some crab meat dude and you've got to.
- 12:08Speaker 2: Yeah it's like eating Gator meat when Florida State plays Florida man.
- 12:13Speaker 2: If they're retiring James's number, you got to steam up some snow crab legs from Publix.
- 12:18Speaker 1: Yeah, well, I got Metro, deli man Even better.
- 12:21Speaker 2: Hey, there you go.
- 12:22Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 12:23Speaker 2: Get a crab milk right, all right, man.
- 12:26Speaker 1: Well, thank you for coming on looking forward to Miami.
- 12:29Speaker 1: Louisville, that's really gonna tell the tale.
- 12:32Speaker 1: If about the chaos in the ACC, that could be because that games at noon and and then it's hoop season man.
- 12:40Speaker 2: It's already.
- 12:43Speaker 1: Yeah, I know, I know basketball town.
- 12:46Speaker 2: That'd be only one watching these games, and I'm damn sure watching them, because it's all I got, man.
- 12:51Speaker 1: I know it's a basketball town, man Well, Justin, I appreciate you coming on and we'll talk to you next time.
- 12:55Speaker 1: All right buddy, all right later.
- 12:57Speaker 1: All right, jimmy, you there.
- 13:10Speaker 2: Everything that guy just says bullshit.
- 13:13Speaker 1: I Got Jamie Reno on yeah hello.
- 13:19Speaker 1: What do you think about that Miami game in 2013?
- 13:24Speaker 3: Oh 2013 Miami appropriate response.
- 13:27Speaker 3: Ah Well, yeah, I mean, I Don't think it mattered, I don't think they're gonna know.
- 13:35Speaker 1: Like was the final score to that game 41 to 14.
- 13:37Speaker 1: That's right.
- 13:40Speaker 3: I do remember he had one nice little scoot.
- 13:42Speaker 1: They got him their first touchdown right, 23 carries in the first half.
- 13:46Speaker 1: That's why yeah, you expect him to get 46 in the whole game come on 97 yards.
- 13:52Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, I mean a nice little chunky chamber.
- 13:55Speaker 3: That's kind of like a game, just to keep it on, just did all that.
- 13:59Speaker 1: All that for a little bit of blood.
- 14:01Speaker 3: Yeah, well, that was.
- 14:02Speaker 3: You know.
- 14:02Speaker 3: That was kind of how you had to do it.
- 14:04Speaker 3: Though, man, if you're gonna try to To keep pace with that Florida State team, you got to have to slow it down and keep them from you know score at what was the low.
- 14:15Speaker 3: That that year was 34 points.
- 14:16Speaker 3: That was the title game.
- 14:17Speaker 3: That was the lowest output, still the highest scoring game team in the history of college football.
- 14:24Speaker 1: That's right, man.
- 14:25Speaker 1: Yeah, it's gonna be you.
- 14:26Speaker 1: They're gonna retire James's number.
- 14:28Speaker 1: It's gonna be awesome.
- 14:31Speaker 3: Yeah, number five man, what if they unretired number two like simultaneously?
- 14:38Speaker 1: he didn't wear number two here.
- 14:39Speaker 1: I know North Alabama those coming in here.
- 14:43Speaker 3: Clifton Abraham.
- 14:44Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, the fighting Mickey Andrews.
- 14:47Speaker 1: Is the fighting Mickey Andrews?
- 14:48Speaker 1: That's right, he's the coach there right 73 to 76 the head coach Wow, yeah, wow.
- 14:55Speaker 1: What's their mascot?
- 14:58Speaker 1: The Lions, the Lions of Alabama, are coming in here.
- 15:01Speaker 1: There was really nothing to see here.
- 15:03Speaker 1: You just want to say you want to see execution right from Florida State.
- 15:08Speaker 3: I do.
- 15:08Speaker 3: I would like to see the second team, but just you know oh.
- 15:15Speaker 3: Yeah, what you got going on.
- 15:19Speaker 3: Rosenbaer there you go.
- 15:23Speaker 3: I knew it warm up.
- 15:24Speaker 3: I was waiting for.
- 15:25Speaker 3: That's what I want to see.
- 15:27Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 15:27Speaker 3: I want to see Tate.
- 15:29Speaker 1: Yeah, I'd like to see him what's more than just a couple plays.
- 15:32Speaker 1: Yeah, run a couple series.
- 15:35Speaker 3: Abc the next guy in line throws down field, like he did against Louisville last season, mm-hmm.
- 15:40Speaker 3: You know, this year he hasn't really His touchdowns haven't so much been down the field as they have been really nice plays by the wide receiver late games, oh, from here on out.
- 15:51Speaker 1: So you have to get used to that.
- 15:52Speaker 1: All day long waiting to play.
- 15:55Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 15:55Speaker 1: I'm for opponent like here.
- 15:57Speaker 1: You don't want to see anybody in injured.
- 15:59Speaker 3: No, you don't.
- 16:00Speaker 3: And it's senior day, so you expect all the guys getting honored to dress and actually start.
- 16:06Speaker 3: I Don't believe Keon Coleman is on the list that's being honored.
- 16:12Speaker 3: I understand that.
- 16:12Speaker 3: I mean he's not not a senior right, but I I'm interested to see if he dresses and plays in this game.
- 16:20Speaker 1: I don't see any need to I.
- 16:22Speaker 3: Don't either.
- 16:22Speaker 3: I think whatever two battles.
- 16:25Speaker 1: You're about to have two wars in the next two weeks.
- 16:28Speaker 3: Yeah, and you know, if we want to speculate, if you want to speculate, All right, hold on.
- 16:32Speaker 1: Yeah, let's definitely speculate with Keon.
- 16:35Speaker 1: Coleman, I'm speculation, speculation, speculation.
- 16:45Speaker 3: Great brain assault.
- 16:49Speaker 1: You don't think he plays no, it's not that I.
- 16:52Speaker 3: you know that the reported knee issue or unreported knee issue you know he's had a little bit of issue with fluid on the knee that's the rumor speculation, right?
- 17:01Speaker 3: So you probably you just let that sit for a week.
- 17:04Speaker 3: Man, you want him healthy for the last two games.
- 17:07Speaker 3: You have to have him for Florida.
- 17:08Speaker 3: Mm-hmm because of what's on the line.
- 17:11Speaker 3: I mean I Hypothetically you might be able to beat Florida without both Keon and Johnny Wilson.
- 17:20Speaker 3: You're not going to be able to do it against Louisville.
- 17:22Speaker 1: Yeah, anything you want championship-wise, it seems to be you need those guys.
- 17:28Speaker 3: Yeah, so I think this is a perfect game to rest your mind.
- 17:32Speaker 1: I could be wrong, though I mean they have the wild card, as Trey Benson has been.
- 17:37Speaker 1: He still has that home run potential he does.
- 17:40Speaker 1: The offense needs that big playability to have to be able to get the.
- 17:45Speaker 3: I would like to see what the depth is with Florida State, like not you know guys that can sub in, I will assume.
- 17:51Speaker 3: Well, that's in.
- 17:52Speaker 1: Hill.
- 17:52Speaker 1: I would like to see him step up and maybe get some confidence rolling.
- 17:56Speaker 1: He's a guy that I would like.
- 17:57Speaker 1: I thought we were going to see a little more out of this year.
- 18:00Speaker 3: Yeah, and he's had a little bit of a foot issue.
- 18:02Speaker 1: Yeah, okay.
- 18:03Speaker 3: You know he's been dealing with that Also.
- 18:06Speaker 3: There is no replicating.
- 18:08Speaker 1: What about Hakeem Williams?
- 18:10Speaker 3: If he's healthy and back.
- 18:10Speaker 1: I would figure this would be a big game for him to be out there.
- 18:14Speaker 3: Not just wide receiver across the board.
- 18:16Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 18:17Speaker 3: Offensive line, the quarterbacks running backs on the other side of the ball.
- 18:20Speaker 3: This is a game where you should really see what you have depth-wise, and if they go out there and struggle against North Alabama, it's going to be concerning.
- 18:30Speaker 3: Even though they're the backups and whatnot, you still kind of expect them to be better than what North Alabama has.
- 18:37Speaker 3: South Alabama is not even a strong team by their standards.
- 18:41Speaker 1: Right.
- 18:41Speaker 1: Well, you know, I know we're going to go over the schedule.
- 18:46Speaker 1: We're going to go over the box score tomorrow at the pre-game show yeah, 2013.
- 18:55Speaker 1: We're going to take you through each game, give you the numbers, relive it.
- 18:59Speaker 2: Relive it Because it was a dominant season, relive it.
- 19:02Speaker 3: I remember.
- 19:03Speaker 1: Pitt scoring first right.
- 19:05Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 19:06Speaker 1: And then a couple of times adversity hit a little bit early and then at Boston College those were both just snuffed out real quick.
- 19:14Speaker 3: Boston College by halftime.
- 19:16Speaker 1: You felt like the game was yeah.
- 19:19Speaker 3: Both times the game was back under control and then after that it was really the title game.
- 19:24Speaker 3: I do remember to Justin's point.
- 19:28Speaker 3: I do remember being in the stadium in that 2013 Miami game.
- 19:33Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 19:34Speaker 3: Everybody feeling like oh man, like you know, it's only 21-14.
- 19:39Speaker 3: James has already thrown two picks.
- 19:41Speaker 3: Like what are we doing?
- 19:44Speaker 3: And like the very next drive.
- 19:46Speaker 3: You know, florida State got the ball and just.
- 19:49Speaker 1: He beat Florida by throwing we're throwing four picks to the next year.
- 19:53Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, you saw a little bit of that in the first year and in his Heisman year.
- 19:59Speaker 1: But the team around them, yeah.
- 20:01Speaker 1: And then you had Benjamin Kenny Shaw in the slot, Rashad Green, Mr Dependability out there.
- 20:12Speaker 3: Yeah.

- 20:20Speaker 1: Carlos Williams, a wild Carlos Williams, when it was just a loaded roster.

- 20:58Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 20:59Speaker 1: Mario Edwards Jr.
- 21:00Speaker 1: I mean, it was such a loaded team.
