Worthington Schools Shut Down License Plate Cameras | Columbus News
Worthington Schools is shutting down its automated license plate reader cameras, ending a contract with Flock Safety after deciding privacy concerns outweigh limited benefits. Superintendent Trent Bowers emphasized schools don’t need the tech for crime-solving and prioritized public trust over surveillance. The district will replace the systems with standard security cameras at no extra cost, aligning with growing national skepticism about these tools amid reports of misuse and calls for regulation.
