- 0:00Speaker 1: You're listening to a lily pad production.
- 0:04Speaker 2: This is the team up play show podcast.
- 0:24Speaker 1: Previously in the city of bones.
- 0:35Speaker 2: There is a new mayor, and he gets to work
- 0:38Speaker 2: right away, fulfilling his campaign promises. About a week in,
- 0:42Speaker 2: he brings in an ambassador from the United States. Whoa.
- 0:46Speaker 2: The ambassador is Devin Sandell. Devin enters New Babel with
- 0:51Speaker 2: a staggering number of trucks with goods. The trucks are
- 0:56Speaker 2: guarded by masked gunmen. He does this... With great pomp
- 1:01Speaker 2: and circumstance, the crowd cheers for the American aid and
- 1:06Speaker 2: the people of New Babel act as though it is
- 1:09Speaker 2: finally raining after a hundred year drought.
- 1:13Speaker 3: I'm the paper phantom and I don't know that I
- 1:17Speaker 3: can handle all the things that I did or all
- 1:20Speaker 3: the things that the phantom should do. I don't think
- 1:23Speaker 3: I can do this, man. And I want to use
- 1:26Speaker 3: you and your technology. I want you to help me.
- 1:28Speaker 3: remove this, and I point to the book. I don't
- 1:31Speaker 3: want to be the paper phantom anymore.
- 1:35Speaker 2: Paige is off of her hospital bed on a floating,
- 1:40Speaker 2: not like hover tech, but on a floating gurney. Over her,
- 1:47Speaker 2: there are two straps that glow blue with zero point energy.
- 1:53Speaker 2: The guy turns his head, looks at you, He's in
- 1:57Speaker 2: a trench coat. He's bald. He has scruffy face hair.
- 2:01Speaker 2: He says, ah, shit. Hey, kid, listen, I need to
- 2:04Speaker 2: take her.
- 2:04Speaker 3: I don't think so.
- 2:06Speaker 2: The cloak flies back, covers me up. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 2:09Speaker 2: Dukes up, swords out. His big trench coat flies back.
- 2:13Speaker 2: He pulls out two guns. I wouldn't try it, kid.
- 2:17Speaker 2: My name is Brock. Does that mean anything to you?
- 2:19Speaker 2: Brock Danton, does that mean anything anymore? Moonslayer? I represent
- 2:23Speaker 2: the Evos of Io. We're changing. We're de-evolving. An entity
- 2:29Speaker 2: of pure evolutionary energy popped up on our scanners. So
- 2:33Speaker 2: for the first time in fucking decades, I'm back on Earth,
- 2:37Speaker 2: and I think she can help us.
- 2:38Speaker 3: You say you're a fan of the paper phantom and
- 2:40Speaker 3: his vibe.
- 2:41Speaker 2: Sure. Well, I don't think you know me that well.
- 2:44Speaker 2: And I'm going to attack him. All right. Yes, sir.
- 2:59Speaker 2: When the Great Depression didn't stop, when the Earth was
- 3:02Speaker 2: crying out for a savior, before the Evos were hated,
- 3:07Speaker 2: Brock Denton was born into the world. His Evo abilities
- 3:13Speaker 2: were only ever speculated. No one has ever really known.
- 3:18Speaker 2: It's believed that he didn't even know. He was never righteous,
- 3:24Speaker 2: but he was a great Evo. He made hard choices.
- 3:30Speaker 2: He did great things. He created and then launched the
- 3:34Speaker 2: bombs of life, which, if you remember, were evolution-accelerating and
- 3:39Speaker 2: terraforming mega-ballistics. The reason for his infamy is that he
- 3:45Speaker 2: sent the first one at the moon. The story goes
- 3:49Speaker 2: that due to miscommunication, he killed thousands of humans that
- 3:54Speaker 2: had already begun to live on Luna. They were waiting
- 3:57Speaker 2: on the terraformation and were supposed to be in orbital
- 4:01Speaker 2: space stations when the BOL struck. But they weren't. Since then,
- 4:07Speaker 2: the moon has been off limits and no one really
- 4:09Speaker 2: knows what havoc the BOL caused there. Brock claims that
- 4:14Speaker 2: he did nothing wrong, but it's blurry. But when the
- 4:17Speaker 2: world decided Evos were a threat to safety, he was
- 4:21Speaker 2: an easy scapegoat. He fought back. He helped save the
- 4:26Speaker 2: world and he wasn't going to be forced off of it.
- 4:29Speaker 2: But in the end, he was. And with all the
- 4:32Speaker 2: world's Evos, he went to Io after the death of
- 4:37Speaker 2: thousands in the war. Now he stands here. claiming that
- 4:44Speaker 2: the Evos on Io are losing all their power and
- 4:47Speaker 2: will soon die out. He thinks Paige could help. I'll
- 4:52Speaker 2: fucking kill you! Roll order. You win these, brother. No doubt.
- 5:00Speaker 3: With the righteous justification of I don't want to do
- 5:03Speaker 3: what you want to do.
- 5:04Speaker 2: My love. My love. What'd you get? Six. Paper Phantom.
- 5:10Speaker 3: Yay. Paige is on.
- 5:13Speaker 2: a floating gurney, floating platform strapped down by zero-point energy belts,
- 5:20Speaker 2: and floating next to Brock, who's trying to take her
- 5:23Speaker 2: to space. It's your turn. What are you doing? Oh,
- 5:25Speaker 2: fuck yeah.
- 5:26Speaker 3: Nice. Do my friends, are my friends in order here
- 5:29Speaker 3: across the city, or this is just a solo me
- 5:32Speaker 3: versus this man?
- 5:34Speaker 2: You're welcome to call out to them.
- 5:35Speaker 3: Yeah, I'll get on the comms real quick. Just a
- 5:38Speaker 3: little free action. Phantom to Quanta, Phantom to Rigel.
- 5:42Speaker 2: I spit out the day-to-day that I'm drinking at family dinner.
- 5:46Speaker 4: What?
- 5:47Speaker 2: What's up?
- 5:47Speaker 1: Excuse me.
- 5:48Speaker 2: What's up? I need backup.
- 5:50Speaker 4: Oh.
- 5:50Speaker 3: I'm at the station hospital. Okay.
- 5:53Speaker 2: Okay. I'm coming. On our way. Gotta kill this man.
- 5:56Speaker 2: This is fully out of the blue, so you two
- 5:58Speaker 2: are going to roll a ready check against a normal
- 6:04Speaker 2: threshold roll from the GD. So I'm rolling difficult, which
- 6:07Speaker 2: is a D12.
- 6:08Speaker 1: Long top one. Seven.
- 6:11Speaker 2: Seven. I rolled a nine.
- 6:13Speaker 4: Ooh.
- 6:14Speaker 2: I got a two.
- 6:16Speaker 1: Ooh. Yikes.
- 6:17Speaker 2: Sounds good. Does it? Quanta, you'll get here in two phases. Okay.
- 6:22Speaker 2: That's not bad. All right. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Like after
- 6:25Speaker 2: two phases. Uh-huh. Rigel, you'll get here after two rounds. Ooh. Okay.
- 6:30Speaker 3: I thought you were going to say two days.
- 6:33Speaker 2: Two days. So six phases, Rigel.
- 6:37Speaker 1: Ooh.
- 6:37Speaker 2: Poof.
- 6:38Speaker 1: Okay. Okay.
- 6:38Speaker 3: And then with my action, I am just going to
- 6:40Speaker 3: charge up my cloak. I'm going to pull every piece
- 6:43Speaker 3: of paper in this hospital floor and room, all of
- 6:47Speaker 3: the charts, every label comes to me.
- 6:51Speaker 2: Ooh, that was satisfying. Yeah, like a card shuffle. Yeah.
- 6:56Speaker 2: It's Brock's turn. He looks at you. I got to
- 6:59Speaker 2: remember kind of what voice I was doing. I'm Brock Danton.
- 7:02Speaker 2: I'm Brock Danton. I'm a dumb bitch.
- 7:06Speaker 3: I think it was like that.
- 7:07Speaker 1: I need to kidnap an innocent person to save my world.
- 7:12Speaker 2: Yeah, it was like a weenie-like, I think. He looks
- 7:16Speaker 2: at you. His gun's pointed at you. Sorry to do
- 7:21Speaker 2: this to you, kid, but everybody's going to die without her. He,
- 7:28Speaker 2: for a free action, pushes a small remote in his
- 7:34Speaker 2: hand and... As his action action is just going to
- 7:38Speaker 2: use utility with his guns, he lifts them straight up,
- 7:42Speaker 2: blasts them both through the ceiling. An enormous hole is created,
- 7:50Speaker 2: and a beam from his spaceship comes down right where
- 7:54Speaker 2: Paige is. He steps out of the beam, and Paige
- 7:58Speaker 2: is going to, from here on out, every phase, go
- 8:01Speaker 2: up two Ls. I mean, that's pretty dope. Okay, Aaron.
- 8:07Speaker 2: But not this turn. Not this turn.
- 8:08Speaker 3: The beam has been initiated.
- 8:11Speaker 2: Correct. I have questions about that. Pretty sick.
- 8:13Speaker 3: But I'll have to pry them out of your dead body, Danton.
- 8:17Speaker 2: Like I said, man, I like your whole thing. I
- 8:20Speaker 2: like what you got going on. It's good to know
- 8:22Speaker 2: there's powered heroes back on Earth. Hey, your time is done.
- 8:25Speaker 2: Don't try and suck up to me. I'm going to
- 8:27Speaker 2: kick your ass. All right. Your turn, Phantom. Great.
- 8:31Speaker 3: I'm going to attack him. Nice.
- 8:33Speaker 2: Go for it.
- 8:34Speaker 3: Let's poo it. I'm in the same L, I assume.
- 8:38Speaker 2: Yes, you guys are just in this small hospital room. Cozy.
- 8:42Speaker 2: With one of the nefarious heroes of the founding age.
- 8:48Speaker 2: Infamous heroes of the founding age.
- 8:50Speaker 3: I think what I'd like to do here is blind
- 8:53Speaker 3: him as well. I'm going to put an amp on this,
- 8:56Speaker 3: a power amp, to try and blind Brock Danton. So
- 8:59Speaker 3: my cloak is going to try and wrap around his face.
- 9:03Speaker 3: And I've got 12 damage coming at you.
- 9:05Speaker 2: Okay. Oh, I like that. Oh, fuck. Your cloak goes around.
- 9:16Speaker 2: I'm too old for this shit. As your cloak wraps
- 9:20Speaker 2: around his face, he is going to defend against that
- 9:23Speaker 2: for sure. Burning his reaction to defend. For his defense,
- 9:30Speaker 2: he rolls a d12 and a d4. I rolled two ones. Hey, hey. Whoa,
- 9:37Speaker 2: that's bad. Go back to space, old man.
- 9:40Speaker 3: Damn, that sucks for me. Maybe he is too old
- 9:44Speaker 3: for this shit.
- 9:45Speaker 2: Wow. Maybe he is too old for this. Two ones.
- 9:50Speaker 2: That is ten damage. He's going to reseal. He reseals
- 9:54Speaker 2: for one. So he takes nine damage. Ouch. Dang, dude.
- 9:59Speaker 4: Yep.
- 10:00Speaker 3: And he'll be blinded for, since it's my cloak, it's
- 10:04Speaker 3: going to be five phases.
- 10:06Speaker 2: Blinded for five phases. Paper on his face. I'm too
- 10:13Speaker 2: old for this, trying to get the paper off of
- 10:16Speaker 2: his head. It's a good look for you. Yeah, fuck you. Hey,
- 10:21Speaker 2: I'm rusty. This isn't fair. Fair fight, man to man.
- 10:26Speaker 2: I'm rusty. He's grumping. He's grumping. He's grumping. He's really
- 10:34Speaker 2: good at grumping.
- 10:36Speaker 5: Back in his day, back in his day, grumping was cool.
- 10:41Speaker 2: Is grumping still cool?
- 10:43Speaker 3: When Quanto arrives, Dubstep starts playing. Grumping.
- 10:50Speaker 2: Interesting stuff. Okay, it's Brock's turn. What's he going to
- 10:53Speaker 2: try to do? Brock your body. Yeah, yeah. His head
- 11:02Speaker 2: covered in paper. He pushes a little button on his
- 11:06Speaker 2: gloves and his boots start blasting out fire. A little
- 11:14Speaker 2: rocket like purple energy. And he goes up in the air,
- 11:18Speaker 2: out the hole, unable to see. He bashes into part
- 11:23Speaker 2: of the ceiling, has to come back down a little bit,
- 11:25Speaker 2: and goes up out of the roof, the hole he's made,
- 11:28Speaker 2: and goes down. We don't really see where he goes,
- 11:31Speaker 2: but he goes out of here. Okay.
- 11:36Speaker 3: Paige lifts up an L within the beam.
- 11:42Speaker 2: Rises up. You look up the hole. You don't even
- 11:46Speaker 2: see what she's going to, but she is going up.
- 11:49Speaker 2: I don't, I don't want to find out. Quanta. That's
- 11:53Speaker 2: two phases. Great.
- 11:54Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 11:55Speaker 2: Enter the scene.
- 11:55Speaker 1: Yeah. I, um, on my way, I take off, uh,
- 12:00Speaker 1: snap sweatpants and, uh, and a windbreaker got my outfit
- 12:06Speaker 1: underneath and just in two jumps across the city as
- 12:12Speaker 1: lightning from building the building, finding my friend's location and
- 12:16Speaker 1: crash into the room.
- 12:18Speaker 2: What's going on?
- 12:19Speaker 3: Uh, Brock Danton from history is here. Nice.
- 12:26Speaker 1: I don't see anybody.
- 12:28Speaker 3: I wrapped paper around his head and he flew through
- 12:30Speaker 3: a hole in the ceiling. A different hole. I think
- 12:32Speaker 3: he made a distinctly separate hole than this hole.
- 12:35Speaker 2: It's the same hole.
- 12:37Speaker 3: Oh, he went through the same hole.
- 12:39Speaker 2: Guys, I'm just flying toward the beam. I see a
- 12:42Speaker 2: sky beam. Oh, shit. I'm an idiot.
- 12:45Speaker 1: I expand my senses out to find him.
- 12:48Speaker 2: And Paige. So first roll a ready check. You enter
- 12:53Speaker 2: the order here.
- 12:53Speaker 1: Four.
- 12:54Speaker 2: Far. Far. Far slug.
- 12:58Speaker 3: Okay, so you're going to go after the paper phantom.
- 13:00Speaker 1: Great.
- 13:00Speaker 2: When we come back around. Sounds good. So we're back
- 13:02Speaker 2: up to the top, phase three, round one. Phantom, your turn.
- 13:07Speaker 3: I am going to move.
- 13:09Speaker 2: Okay.
- 13:11Speaker 3: I would like to, as a free action character, grab
- 13:16Speaker 3: page and move the full, I believe, remind me, is
- 13:21Speaker 3: my permanent bonus applied to my movement, if I'm using
- 13:25Speaker 3: movement power, or no?
- 13:26Speaker 2: It's just the energy level. Your permanent bonus is added
- 13:29Speaker 2: to your total movement.
- 13:31Speaker 3: Okay. So that means that with my cloak now at
- 13:34Speaker 3: level four, I can move 12 Ls.
- 13:37Speaker 2: Okay. Pretty good. So I'm going to go one L up.
- 13:41Speaker 3: To get her, grab her, free action, and then just,
- 13:44Speaker 3: I'll make a separate distinct hole this time. I'll, like,
- 13:47Speaker 3: break through the window or whatever and look at Quad
- 13:50Speaker 3: and be like, find Danton, kill him, I'm gonna get
- 13:52Speaker 3: her safe. And I'm gonna start, like, gliding out the
- 13:56Speaker 3: window with Paige as far as I can go.
- 13:58Speaker 2: What's your strength, Jason? How many EPs do you have
- 14:02Speaker 2: in strength? So that means you cannot carry a person
- 14:06Speaker 2: without having your movement.
- 14:08Speaker 3: Okay.
- 14:09Speaker 2: Alright, so that means I can only go six One
- 14:12Speaker 2: to get her and then five away.
- 14:15Speaker 3: Deal.
- 14:15Speaker 4: Okay.
- 14:16Speaker 2: Math. Still so far.
- 14:19Speaker 3: And just for the record, she's on like a hover
- 14:21Speaker 3: gurney of some sort.
- 14:22Speaker 2: Yeah. I'm surfing on it.
- 14:24Speaker 3: I'm surfing on her wind sails out, wind surfing style.
- 14:29Speaker 3: True love style.
- 14:31Speaker 2: That's true love.
- 14:32Speaker 3: When you surf on your true love.
- 14:33Speaker 2: Yeah. Who hasn't? Surfboard. So we got to like ask
- 14:39Speaker 2: these questions for this. This combat is very specific. Yeah.
- 14:43Speaker 3: You can't really fly.
- 14:45Speaker 5: No.
- 14:45Speaker 2: You kind of coast. Glide. You glide and coast. Falling
- 14:49Speaker 2: with style. You fall with style. Fucking Buzz Lightyear style.
- 14:54Speaker 2: Lots of styling. So I think six L's away. You're
- 14:59Speaker 2: not any L's up anymore. No, no.
- 15:04Speaker 3: I would be the same or lower.
- 15:06Speaker 2: Cool. I leave that to you. Roll a strength. Just
- 15:09Speaker 2: roll a might check here. Plus your strength.
- 15:12Speaker 3: Oh, might plus strength. You mean two defaults?
- 15:14Speaker 2: Well, I'll ask you, do you want to stay? So, sorry.
- 15:18Speaker 2: Let me say all of this. The hospital you're at
- 15:20Speaker 2: is four L's up within the space barge. Are you
- 15:23Speaker 2: trying to stay that level or are you trying to
- 15:25Speaker 2: go down?
- 15:26Speaker 3: Down is better. I think a wave, if he wants up,
- 15:28Speaker 3: I want down. So down is fine with me. Good thought,
- 15:31Speaker 3: good thought.
- 15:32Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Logic. Sound logic.
- 15:34Speaker 1: There's that classic paper phantom logic.
- 15:36Speaker 2: The PPL. Me go down? Ride lover like surfboard?
- 15:43Speaker 5: Yes.
- 15:46Speaker 2: Yes. You and Paige glide down, surf down, excuse me.
- 15:55Speaker 2: You're on the ground in the station. Nice.
- 15:58Speaker 3: Quanta, your turn.
- 15:59Speaker 2: Great.
- 15:59Speaker 1: Now I push my senses out to find Danton. Find
- 16:04Speaker 1: the person Jason is talking about.
- 16:06Speaker 2: Roll a sense check. He's not trying to hide from you,
- 16:08Speaker 2: so I'm not going to roll for him. I'm just
- 16:10Speaker 2: going to roll a challenging check. Okay. I rolled a five.
- 16:14Speaker 2: I rolled a ten. Oof. Popping in here like this,
- 16:18Speaker 2: you're a little frazzled. You can't find out exactly where
- 16:20Speaker 2: he is.
- 16:21Speaker 1: I'll just move out of the building then. Lightning whip myself,
- 16:26Speaker 1: like zip out of the hole and stand on the edge.
- 16:30Speaker 2: Okay, sounds good.
- 16:31Speaker 1: Start looking around with mine own eyes rather than my
- 16:35Speaker 1: Evo eyes.
- 16:36Speaker 2: Yeah, over the edge of the space barge. The space
- 16:39Speaker 2: barge is on like a curved part of the hull.
- 16:43Speaker 2: And so when he shoots up, the hole is kind
- 16:45Speaker 2: of curved with the ship. You just look down as
- 16:50Speaker 2: you get to the top of this hole, which is
- 16:52Speaker 2: now six L's up. And you see him on the
- 16:55Speaker 2: ground level just like smashing into the hole. Like, fuck, fuck, paper.
- 17:00Speaker 2: Still on his face. All right.
- 17:02Speaker 1: I also have 12 L's of movement now with my
- 17:06Speaker 1: lightning whip.
- 17:07Speaker 2: Can I make it down to him? Yeah, certainly.
- 17:09Speaker 1: Great.
- 17:09Speaker 2: That's crazy knowledge. Kaboom.
- 17:12Speaker 1: Yeah, that D10, or my energy being 10, plus the
- 17:17Speaker 1: two permanent bonuses.
- 17:18Speaker 2: Yeah. Tasty. That is tasty. Hearty. What was that? What
- 17:22Speaker 2: was that big boom? Fuck, I can't see shit. It's me.
- 17:26Speaker 1: I'm a boomer.
- 17:27Speaker 2: Wait. What?
- 17:29Speaker 3: What?
- 17:31Speaker 2: No, I was the greatest generation, I think. I'm fucking old. Yeah,
- 17:35Speaker 2: you listen to dubstep, you old man.
- 17:39Speaker 5: He tried to stay with it for longer than most, everybody.
- 17:43Speaker 2: I got caught up. I can only get caught up
- 17:46Speaker 2: so many times. Yeah, that's fair. You can't ask me
- 17:50Speaker 2: to enjoy 70s rock and then dubstep. Who says? Fucking
- 17:57Speaker 2: get the paper off me. Good questions. It's Brock's turn.
- 18:00Speaker 2: He used his reaction, so he's done. Paige is with you,
- 18:03Speaker 2: so she does not get pulled up an L. So
- 18:06Speaker 2: he's been blind for two phases now, so three more.
- 18:11Speaker 2: Fun for me. Interesting. We start a new round, which
- 18:15Speaker 2: is we start a new round, second round. Paper Phantom,
- 18:22Speaker 2: you're up.
- 18:23Speaker 3: I think I'm just going to keep moving with Paige
- 18:25Speaker 3: down the street far away from the building. I guess
- 18:29Speaker 3: in whatever direction Jameer would be coming from. Like toward
- 18:34Speaker 3: the manor, I suppose. Sure.
- 18:36Speaker 2: Citywide. You move another six L's with Paige.
- 18:40Speaker 3: I do a kickflip.
- 18:42Speaker 2: Quanta, your turn.
- 18:43Speaker 1: Ooh.
- 18:44Speaker 2: Ah, ah, hey. I will... I see he has guns. Yeah. Great.
- 18:50Speaker 2: I see he has guns.
- 18:52Speaker 1: I will use control electricity to try to power block
- 18:55Speaker 1: his guns by making his body impulsively grab.
- 19:00Speaker 2: Them and toss them to the side. Okay. And it's
- 19:03Speaker 2: close up, so I'm going to roll with precision. Six. Oh,
- 19:07Speaker 2: so you're attacking.
- 19:08Speaker 6: Yes.
- 19:09Speaker 2: Got it, got it.
- 19:09Speaker 1: Attacking with an amp. A power block as an amp.
- 19:12Speaker 3: Cool.
- 19:12Speaker 2: That's correct. Sorry. That's okay.
- 19:14Speaker 3: Six damage?
- 19:15Speaker 2: Yes. And he's blinded. He's blinded, so he can't react? Mm-hmm.
- 19:20Speaker 3: Suck it.
- 19:21Speaker 1: Yeah, I just, like, stick my pointer fingers and middle
- 19:24Speaker 1: fingers into, like, his neck to try to get, like, at, like.
- 19:27Speaker 2: The vagal nerve. Damn. And make him toss his guns.
- 19:33Speaker 2: Two on his resilience. So he takes four damage.
- 19:38Speaker 1: Great.
- 19:38Speaker 2: And is power blocked. Yes.
- 19:41Speaker 1: For three phases, he doesn't have his guns.
- 19:44Speaker 3: Very cool. He is also out of hit points. He
- 19:48Speaker 3: drops down to the ground.
- 19:49Speaker 2: Oh, shit. Falls down. Man down? I say in the comms.
- 19:56Speaker 2: And his guns drop out of his hands.
- 19:59Speaker 5: Ow.
- 20:01Speaker 1: Ow.
- 20:02Speaker 3: I'll pull up on the nose of the hover bed
- 20:05Speaker 3: and turn us around to look back up. Do we
- 20:07Speaker 3: see what the beam is connected to by chance from
- 20:11Speaker 3: here being so far away? You still don't see.
- 20:14Speaker 2: What's up there. Like it's just going into a cloud
- 20:17Speaker 2: or something? It's the night sky. You're not certain. It
- 20:22Speaker 2: is Brock's turn. He is going to roll a get
- 20:25Speaker 2: up check.
- 20:26Speaker 1: Oh, he can do that too, huh?
- 20:29Speaker 2: Oh, fuck you guys. I invented the get up check.
- 20:33Speaker 2: You kids don't appreciate it. Back in the day. You
- 20:37Speaker 2: just can get up whenever you want. We had to
- 20:39Speaker 2: fight for getting up. Sorry. I don't know what came
- 20:43Speaker 2: over me.
- 20:44Speaker 3: That's a spot on, Brock Danton. We're finding something.
- 20:49Speaker 2: He's like, getting it up isn't as easy for me
- 20:52Speaker 2: these days.
- 20:53Speaker 1: Oh, there we are.
- 20:53Speaker 2: We found it. We found it. Sir, I did not
- 20:58Speaker 2: need to know that. He has I'm still here, which
- 21:01Speaker 2: means he can roll his get up checks as an
- 21:05Speaker 2: empower check. So he adds his rocket boots to this.
- 21:11Speaker 3: That's pretty cool. I like the idea of his limp
- 21:14Speaker 3: body just being rocket booted around.
- 21:16Speaker 2: Exactly. Rocket booted north. I like just lapsing it.
- 21:19Speaker 3: Like one of those toys, like a zebra, a giraffe,
- 21:22Speaker 3: where you push the bottom and all its bones go slack.
- 21:27Speaker 2: And he also has a D20 in guts. Very good.
- 21:33Speaker 2: He rolls 15, which beats his death points by a lot.
- 21:38Speaker 2: So he rolls a get up check. Man, not down. Man,
- 21:42Speaker 2: not down. His boots lift him up. He shakes his head.
- 21:46Speaker 2: And as a reaction, he reaches into his pocket. This
- 21:49Speaker 2: is the action he's doing. He stabs himself with a
- 21:53Speaker 2: little stem, with a little syringe. Green liquid goes into
- 21:59Speaker 2: his veins.
- 21:59Speaker 5: What's he doing now, guys?
- 22:03Speaker 2: Doping? Okay. As a reaction, he heals himself for 13,
- 22:10Speaker 2: which is his full HP. That's a lot. He sits up,
- 22:15Speaker 2: looks at, well, doesn't look, but he sits up. His
- 22:18Speaker 2: head is still covered in paper. Guys, hey, calm down.
- 22:22Speaker 2: Can we, let's, can we talk about this, please?
- 22:26Speaker 1: I widen my stance and squat a little bit in preparation.
- 22:31Speaker 2: I can do this so many times. This is going
- 22:34Speaker 2: to be exhausting. Well, I could do it all day.
- 22:38Speaker 2: Hell yeah. Are you guys talking up there? I don't know.
- 22:43Speaker 2: I think I just used a trademarked phrase, though. Yeah,
- 22:45Speaker 2: can we say that? I don't know.
- 22:48Speaker 5: I can last longer than four hours. Going back to
- 22:52Speaker 5: boner references.
- 22:56Speaker 2: He did need assistance in getting up.
- 23:00Speaker 3: Paper Phantom, your turn. I think what I want to do,
- 23:02Speaker 3: and I don't know if there's special rules for this
- 23:04Speaker 3: or not. Because I want to hide, but I don't
- 23:07Speaker 3: necessarily just want to hide me. I want to conceal Paige.
- 23:11Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 23:12Speaker 3: I want to hide her. That's what I'm going to do.
- 23:15Speaker 2: I think it's the same. It's just going to be
- 23:17Speaker 2: a more difficult check. I think I'll have you roll
- 23:21Speaker 2: your sneak die low, and then you're just rolling against
- 23:25Speaker 2: his sense. Sure.
- 23:27Speaker 3: And for flavor here, what I'm doing is I'm covering
- 23:30Speaker 3: her up in like a cocoon of paper and then
- 23:33Speaker 3: making a bunch of them. So there's just like a
- 23:36Speaker 3: shell game of paper all over the place.
- 23:39Speaker 2: He is going to roll this sense low because he's
- 23:42Speaker 2: blinded by your paper still.
- 23:44Speaker 3: Makes sense to me.
- 23:45Speaker 2: He got two.
- 23:46Speaker 3: All right, so I can do sneak plus cloak.
- 23:50Speaker 2: You got this. You beat a two.
- 23:52Speaker 1: You beat a two in your paper sleep.
- 23:54Speaker 3: I probably will. Yeah, that's going to be a... 25.
- 24:01Speaker 2: You're able to hide you and Paige easily. Sorry, 23.
- 24:04Speaker 3: My math was wrong.
- 24:06Speaker 2: Oh, in that case. Just a 23. Quanta, your turn.
- 24:09Speaker 2: Stay down.
- 24:10Speaker 3: No, come on, kid. I will use the energy to
- 24:12Speaker 3: attack again.
- 24:23Speaker 1: Similarly, up close with control electricity, an attempt to power
- 24:28Speaker 1: block his stems. So make him do the same thing
- 24:32Speaker 1: with any stems he's got in his jacket to just
- 24:35Speaker 1: impulse throw them about himself.
- 24:38Speaker 2: Okay, sounds good. His guns are on the ground. Classic.
- 24:41Speaker 2: You guys got to keep track of the phases that
- 24:44Speaker 2: you have conditions on him because I can't. Okay. That's
- 24:47Speaker 2: a lot. Let me do a little mark. Is it.
- 24:51Speaker 1: Counting from the phase that it starts or the next one?
- 24:54Speaker 3: Okay.
- 24:55Speaker 2: Let me do a little marks.
- 24:56Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 24:56Speaker 3: I believe he's only blinded for one more phase then.
- 24:58Speaker 2: I think so.
- 25:00Speaker 1: He can't have his guns for this and the next one.
- 25:04Speaker 2: Six again. Six again. He already burned his reaction healing.
- 25:09Speaker 2: So he gets as high as he can roll on
- 25:12Speaker 2: his resilience, which is two. Takes four damage, and he
- 25:18Speaker 2: takes the rest of the stems out of his pockets
- 25:21Speaker 2: and throws them. What am I doing? Why am I
- 25:24Speaker 2: doing this? What is going on?
- 25:28Speaker 1: You messed with the wrong girl.
- 25:30Speaker 2: Hey, I was a big deal back in the day,
- 25:32Speaker 2: I promise. We're the big deal now. It seems like it,
- 25:36Speaker 2: and I'm glad you're here. I just need to save
- 25:39Speaker 2: my people. Let's find another way.
- 25:41Speaker 1: I don't know what's going on, but let's find another way.
- 25:45Speaker 2: Look at who you're talking to. You don't think I've
- 25:47Speaker 2: thought of every other way? Maybe not.
- 25:51Speaker 1: I had to dip into my resilience EPs.
- 25:53Speaker 2: Just let the record show. Let the record show.
- 25:56Speaker 1: Let the record show.
- 25:57Speaker 2: I'm burning energy. Strike that from the record. We have
- 26:00Speaker 2: a stenographer. Happy death. But we don't release the transcripts.
- 26:06Speaker 1: We still let Spotify make us sound crazy when we
- 26:09Speaker 1: say things like.
- 26:10Speaker 2: The auto-caption.
- 26:10Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 26:12Speaker 2: Okay, it's Brock's turn. He is going to roll to try...
- 26:16Speaker 2: He is going to finally try to... Well, it's only
- 26:19Speaker 2: one more phase. What's he going to do? You're hidden.
- 26:23Speaker 2: Big Boa, Big Boa. What?
- 26:25Speaker 3: You're hidden from him.
- 26:26Speaker 2: There's no way he... He can't use his guns. He
- 26:29Speaker 2: can't use his pocket evolution. What is he going to do?
- 26:35Speaker 2: He's just going to shoot off with his boots towards
- 26:40Speaker 2: the direction the paper phantom went. Can I react to trap?
- 26:48Speaker 2: You can. I would like to do that, please. What
- 26:53Speaker 2: do you do to try to get him?
- 26:55Speaker 1: Lightning whip him around his rocket boots as he's flying past.
- 27:00Speaker 2: You do so, and then a zero-point energy shield exists
- 27:05Speaker 2: around his rock-a-boots real quick as it comes in contact
- 27:09Speaker 2: with different energy, and your lightning slips right off.
- 27:13Speaker 3: He has unseen escape. He cannot be trapped.
- 27:16Speaker 2: Nice. Phantom, he's headed your way. Phantom, you look and
- 27:21Speaker 2: you see... Rigel, where are you?
- 27:22Speaker 3: I'm coming.
- 27:23Speaker 2: I'm flying as fast as the fucking star goes. You
- 27:26Speaker 2: see this old man blasting towards you with purple rocket boots.
- 27:32Speaker 2: Very zigzag, drunken-like flying. Is everything chill over there, guys?
- 27:40Speaker 2: It's about to be.
- 27:40Speaker 4: Oh, good.
- 27:42Speaker 2: Paper Phantom, back up to you, phase three.
- 27:44Speaker 3: Rigel's not available yet, correct?
- 27:47Speaker 2: No. At the end of this phase, Rigel will enter order.
- 27:50Speaker 2: The end of this phase, Rigel will enter order.
- 27:57Speaker 1: Those spot on Johnny impressions.
- 27:59Speaker 2: What the fuck is going on? You guys are already
- 28:02Speaker 2: beating my in-game guy really bad. We're just feeling cocky.
- 28:07Speaker 2: On my way.
- 28:08Speaker 3: Yeah, it doesn't matter that I'm 12 L's away from
- 28:12Speaker 3: the building now at this point.
- 28:14Speaker 2: That Rigel wouldn't be near me. No. Okay, fine, fine, fine. No.
- 28:18Speaker 5: No.
- 28:19Speaker 2: I'm letting you guys travel insane distances from, like, across
- 28:24Speaker 2: the city. If we did the math, you wouldn't get
- 28:26Speaker 2: here for, like, Guanta said.
- 28:27Speaker 5: No, no, no.
- 28:27Speaker 2: Here we are. Days. Paper Phantom. Paper Days. Paper Phantom,
- 28:34Speaker 2: it's your turn. What are you doing? All right. You've
- 28:36Speaker 2: built a lot of little paper cocoons. Yes. And pages
- 28:39Speaker 2: in one of them. Yep. Both of you. And you
- 28:42Speaker 2: are in the same one?
- 28:43Speaker 3: I'll say we're in different ones.
- 28:44Speaker 2: Okay, you guys are in different ones. You've built a
- 28:47Speaker 2: little roulette, cocoon roulette. What are you doing?
- 28:50Speaker 3: I'll charge up from here.
- 28:51Speaker 2: Ooh. Sounds good. Quant to your turn. I reacted.
- 28:54Speaker 5: Brock reacted. Rigel shows up. How do you show up, Rigel?
- 28:59Speaker 5: Rigel's flying on his flight star. I just am going
- 29:02Speaker 5: toward the sky pillar. So do I see a page at, like,
- 29:07Speaker 5: In this sky pillar? No, she has been moved well
- 29:11Speaker 5: out of that.
- 29:12Speaker 2: Oh, yeah, yeah. I think what you do see is
- 29:14Speaker 2: you see a bunch of little paper cocoons. You also
- 29:17Speaker 2: see a flying man with paper on his face blasting
- 29:21Speaker 2: towards those cocoons. The paper now falls off of his face.
- 29:25Speaker 2: The Phantom can no longer hold it. And Brock Danton
- 29:29Speaker 2: is here. I'll let you where to go, Rigel, and
- 29:32Speaker 2: then roll your ready check to enter order. Okay. I'll
- 29:35Speaker 2: be over the guy. I don't know.
- 29:39Speaker 5: His name, but I'm like, is this the guy trying to...
- 29:44Speaker 5: Why are we mad.
- 29:44Speaker 2: At this guy? I see him. He's got paper on him?
- 29:48Speaker 3: He's trying to abduct Paige, take her to space.
- 29:50Speaker 2: Oh, that's serious. I got four on my ready. Okay. Okay.
- 29:58Speaker 2: I've rolled so ass this whole... You guys all rolled
- 30:03Speaker 2: better ready than him.
- 30:04Speaker 1: I think we're same order, Rigel.
- 30:07Speaker 2: Okay. What'd you roll?
- 30:08Speaker 3: All three of us are, right?
- 30:10Speaker 2: Did you roll? Oh, yeah, because we're together. All three
- 30:12Speaker 2: of you, yes. Crazy. Remember when I was so excited
- 30:16Speaker 2: when I said he rolls a D12 and a D4
- 30:20Speaker 2: for his defense?
- 30:22Speaker 3: I thought it was so fun.
- 30:25Speaker 2: It was pretty sick. And then I rolled two ones.
- 30:28Speaker 2: That's what happened. Ones are on the die for a reason.
- 30:32Speaker 2: Fuck this game. You know what? Fuck team up.
- 30:36Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 30:37Speaker 2: Fuck team up. Ben. Yeah, Ben. I don't even care.
- 30:41Speaker 2: What's up? Rigel, you want to be above... brock how
- 30:47Speaker 2: far how high above he's on the ground floor but
- 30:50Speaker 2: flying yeah.
- 30:51Speaker 5: I'll i don't want to be too far i'll just
- 30:53Speaker 5: be like three l's above just watching over him making
- 30:57Speaker 5: sure he doesn't move or do anything crazy.
- 31:00Speaker 2: Yeah he's uh cool he's like in the process of
- 31:03Speaker 2: of moving when you arrive back to the top paper.
- 31:05Speaker 1: Phantom he um he can have his guns back but
- 31:09Speaker 1: he flew away from where he dropped them.
- 31:12Speaker 2: His guns, he says, finally. He puts his hands out.
- 31:16Speaker 2: The paper comes off of his head, and the guns
- 31:20Speaker 2: fly from where they lay in the dirt towards his hands.
- 31:23Speaker 2: He catches them both and then keeps soaring. He sees
- 31:27Speaker 2: now Quanta, Rigel, and the paper cocoons. I'm just a
- 31:31Speaker 2: guy in the sky. He doesn't know I'm a text. Yeah,
- 31:34Speaker 2: he doesn't know.
- 31:35Speaker 3: Maybe he's a friendly. I'm assuming I'm still far away
- 31:40Speaker 3: from him in some way. You are six ales away
- 31:43Speaker 3: from him. Six ales away?
- 31:45Speaker 2: Perfect.
- 31:45Speaker 3: What I'd like to do is move. The way I'm
- 31:48Speaker 3: moving is through the paper dimension. I just want to
- 31:51Speaker 3: go from the paper cocoon I'm in to one that's
- 31:54Speaker 3: near him, still hidden if possible.
- 31:57Speaker 2: Ooh.
- 31:57Speaker 3: Happy to roll more sneak.
- 31:59Speaker 2: Yeah, you want to be within his ale? Yeah. Okay, yeah.
- 32:04Speaker 2: I won't even make you roll sneak for that. Because
- 32:07Speaker 2: there's no chance in hell he's going to be your sneak.
- 32:10Speaker 1: Ooh.
- 32:11Speaker 2: Two. The ones are on the die.
- 32:13Speaker 3: The ones are on the die. Man, there's always a chance.
- 32:16Speaker 2: Okay.
- 32:17Speaker 3: Yeah, let's roll.
- 32:20Speaker 2: Believe, Johnny. Don't give up. Fucking believe. He didn't. He's
- 32:23Speaker 2: giving up. He didn't wear all his stuff. It's in space.
- 32:27Speaker 3: All his stuff's in space.
- 32:28Speaker 2: I just forgot my stuff, guys. That's why I'm sucking
- 32:31Speaker 2: so bad. I just forgot my stuff.
- 32:33Speaker 1: It is a poor artist that blames his tools.
- 32:35Speaker 2: Oh, I forgot my blue pills. I rolled a two. 17. Yeah.
- 32:44Speaker 2: Glad we took time Quality time Of the team up
- 32:48Speaker 2: play show podcast But who doesn't have to roll those
- 32:52Speaker 2: ones Fucking Quanta your turn How many L's did he
- 32:56Speaker 2: travel away from.
- 32:57Speaker 3: Me Four L's away from you Quanta.
- 32:59Speaker 1: Awesome I will Attack with my lightning whip And How
- 33:05Speaker 1: many E pieces does it take to pull Nah, I
- 33:08Speaker 1: won't amplify that. I will just attack.
- 33:10Speaker 2: Okay. Ranged, so I'm rolling precision. Seven. Seven damage? Yes. Okay.
- 33:17Speaker 2: He's just going to roll resilience. He rolls two, so
- 33:21Speaker 2: he takes five.
- 33:23Speaker 1: And he, no, after this phase, he'll have the stims again.
- 33:26Speaker 2: Never mind. Okay. Jameer, your turn.
- 33:28Speaker 5: All right.
- 33:29Speaker 2: Rigel's like, hold on, guys. I'm going to try something.
- 33:34Speaker 2: And Rigel's- Take him down. Rigel's going to do nothing.
- 33:38Speaker 5: And a bunch of stars are going to start twinkling
- 33:40Speaker 5: around him as he hovers above this guy.
- 33:44Speaker 2: Okay. Cool. It is Brock's turn. The attack from you, Quanta,
- 33:51Speaker 2: strikes his back as his guns hit his hands. He
- 33:56Speaker 2: spins quickly with their momentum and fires two enormous blasts
- 34:02Speaker 2: at you. They look like small orange suns. He's attacking you.
- 34:09Speaker 2: What is it? It's a one. I rolled a one.
- 34:13Speaker 3: Two damage coming at you. Fuck me.
- 34:16Speaker 2: I will zeal. I made this cool guy. He's cool, guys.
- 34:21Speaker 2: We've done nothing but dump on him. And our favorite
- 34:25Speaker 2: character in the campaign is Bones.
- 34:27Speaker 1: Yeah, I think it's actually us that are going to
- 34:30Speaker 1: come out looking bad.
- 34:32Speaker 2: Because of who we love. Oh, no. I rezeal for
- 34:38Speaker 2: all of it.
- 34:39Speaker 1: I dodge and I say, hey, I'm the one who
- 34:40Speaker 1: does the frying around here.
- 34:42Speaker 4: Huh?
- 34:43Speaker 2: What? Did you joke? These are heroes. We're just joking.
- 34:49Speaker 2: Heroes of Earth. You know. Otherwise, you know, you cry.
- 34:54Speaker 2: I've been sitting around for too long. Back up to
- 34:58Speaker 2: the top. Paper Phantom. He can have his stems back.
- 35:01Speaker 4: Okay.
- 35:02Speaker 3: I'm all charged up. I'm going to bust out of
- 35:04Speaker 3: the cocoon nearest to him and Just punch him right
- 35:08Speaker 3: in the face with a huge paper fist.
- 35:10Speaker 1: All right.
- 35:11Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 35:11Speaker 1: Brock paper fisters.
- 35:14Speaker 2: Brock paper fisters. Damn. That is nine damage. That's not nothing.
- 35:22Speaker 2: You are rolling that D. He's got to react to that.
- 35:27Speaker 2: And remember, guys, what's really cool about him is he
- 35:30Speaker 2: rolls a 12 and a four for his defense.
- 35:33Speaker 3: Pretty good.
- 35:33Speaker 2: I'm impressed. I rolled a seven.
- 35:36Speaker 1: Okay.
- 35:37Speaker 2: And zero on his resilience. The fist comes down. A
- 35:41Speaker 2: perfect sphere, a perfect see-through purple sphere encapsulates him. It's
- 35:47Speaker 2: a little zero-point energy bubble, and it melts away as
- 35:51Speaker 2: the fist blasts through it and still hits him for
- 35:56Speaker 2: two damage.
- 35:56Speaker 3: I think two damage. Get hole-punched.
- 36:00Speaker 2: Oh, God. We make jokes here on Earth, bitch. No.
- 36:06Speaker 2: All right, where the fuck did you come from? You guys,
- 36:08Speaker 2: you guys are good. Quanta, your turn.
- 36:12Speaker 1: I will, I really don't want him to heal up again,
- 36:16Speaker 1: so I'm going to move within his L.
- 36:20Speaker 2: That's what I'm going to do. Okay, Rigel, your turn.
- 36:22Speaker 5: Rigel's stars begin to fall around him faster, and his
- 36:29Speaker 5: eyes glow, and he opens them and looks down, and.
- 36:34Speaker 2: I had my turn.
- 36:39Speaker 1: Okay.
- 36:39Speaker 5: Hey, buddy?
- 36:40Speaker 1: You gonna help us out? Oh, he's gone full star boy.
- 36:44Speaker 2: I think I know what he's doing. Oh, okay. At
- 36:46Speaker 2: least that makes one of us. What is he doing?
- 36:50Speaker 2: I don't like it.
- 36:50Speaker 3: Don't worry about it.
- 36:52Speaker 2: I don't like what you're doing.
- 36:53Speaker 3: I'm trying to save all the Evos in the world.
- 36:57Speaker 3: You're trying to make life less inconvenient for them in space.
- 37:01Speaker 2: That is a terrible reduction of what I'm trying to do.
- 37:05Speaker 2: You would hurt this Evo if you did that.
- 37:07Speaker 5: Who?
- 37:08Speaker 4: Me.
- 37:08Speaker 6: Why?
- 37:09Speaker 2: Because I'm one.
- 37:10Speaker 3: She's Evo.
- 37:12Speaker 2: Wait. Surprise. First of all, it's cool that Evos are
- 37:17Speaker 2: back on Earth, but why would I hurt you?
- 37:19Speaker 1: Because you'd be taking my friend away. My friend's friend.
- 37:22Speaker 2: I'll bring her back.
- 37:24Speaker 1: I try to make eye contact with the paper phantom
- 37:26Speaker 1: who's nowhere to be seen. I try to make eye
- 37:28Speaker 1: contact with Rigel whose eyes are full of stars.
- 37:33Speaker 2: What is he doing?
- 37:35Speaker 1: Let's maybe talk then instead of you just taking her away.
- 37:39Speaker 2: I tried.
- 37:40Speaker 1: Doesn't look like it.
- 37:43Speaker 2: Paper phantom. Oh, wait, no. No. Brock gets to go.
- 37:48Speaker 2: He is going to spend an energy. And blast at you, Phantom,
- 37:52Speaker 2: now that you've revealed yourself. Oh, you are there. Okay,
- 37:54Speaker 2: then I do make eye contact with you. Sure.
- 37:56Speaker 3: I've just got a paper face.
- 37:57Speaker 2: Oh, shit. I'll cut little eye holes. Huh? Huh?
- 38:03Speaker 3: It's cool. What Rachel's doing is good.
- 38:05Speaker 2: Okay. His blasters, he sticks them just right into your stomach.
- 38:11Speaker 2: Blows them both. and I hopefully don't roll like ass.
- 38:16Speaker 2: I rolled four. I rolled four.
- 38:19Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 38:21Speaker 2: He's going to add an amp to this. Got to
- 38:24Speaker 2: say that before you roll. That's all I have to say. Okay.
- 38:27Speaker 3: So Raziel for two.
- 38:32Speaker 2: For two, so you take two damage? Mm-hmm. He has
- 38:36Speaker 2: enhanced amplifier, so all he has to do is two
- 38:40Speaker 2: damage to do a stun attack. If you do at
- 38:43Speaker 2: least two damage, target is stunned, cannot take movement actions.
- 38:47Speaker 2: For phases equal to half of the energy level, which
- 38:51Speaker 2: is five. For five phases, you can't take movement actions.
- 38:56Speaker 2: These orbs hit your stomach. And then they create an
- 39:02Speaker 2: orange energy cage around you. My microbiome. Paper Phantom, it's
- 39:07Speaker 2: your turn. I'm stunned, right?
- 39:08Speaker 3: You can't take movement actions. You can take all other actions.
- 39:11Speaker 2: Great.
- 39:12Speaker 3: I'll just punch him again. Yeah, there you go. Actually,
- 39:14Speaker 3: do I want to turn or? I think what I
- 39:17Speaker 3: want to try and do is if I can't move,
- 39:19Speaker 3: I'm going to.
- 39:21Speaker 2: Wrap him up in paper and try and hold him
- 39:22Speaker 2: where I am. Nice.
- 39:24Speaker 3: I can't react to him with his unseen escape, but
- 39:26Speaker 3: I can try and trap him now, right?
- 39:27Speaker 2: Hmm. Hmm. Yes, you can try to. There's that PP logic.
- 39:32Speaker 2: You can try to grapple him. Grappling is always a
- 39:36Speaker 2: might check, but plus your paper. He can roll might
- 39:41Speaker 2: or ready. He's going to roll ready, plus his rockaboots.
- 39:45Speaker 1: 11.
- 39:47Speaker 3: No permanent bonus on this, yes?
- 39:50Speaker 2: Correct. I also got 11.
- 39:51Speaker 1: Ooh, I will react and use my always helpful.
- 39:55Speaker 2: Yay! Okay. Just need that one.
- 39:58Speaker 1: Yeah, just to get money. I will use my lightning reflexes.
- 40:01Speaker 1: I see the paper, like, not quite wrapping around, and
- 40:04Speaker 1: at the last minute, control the venium that's in the
- 40:07Speaker 1: venium lace paper to.
- 40:09Speaker 2: Okay.
- 40:10Speaker 1: Fill in the little gap. I will give a power
- 40:12Speaker 1: point from my support pool to.
- 40:15Speaker 2: The paper phantom. Okay, you only beat him by one,
- 40:18Speaker 2: so he's only going to be trapped for one phase,
- 40:20Speaker 2: but he can't move for the next phase. Can't take
- 40:22Speaker 2: a movement action. Should I give more? I can give more?
- 40:25Speaker 3: How you looking up there, star boy?
- 40:27Speaker 2: The next threshold is you had to have beat him
- 40:30Speaker 2: by five. Oh, okay. I'll just do the one. I
- 40:34Speaker 2: think we're good. What is he doing up there? Don't
- 40:40Speaker 2: worry about it. I'm lost too. The paper that was
- 40:44Speaker 2: a fist tries to grab him. He rocket boots to
- 40:47Speaker 2: the side. Rocket boots to the side. Gets out of
- 40:49Speaker 2: your way. But then the electricity wraps around him as well.
- 40:52Speaker 2: Brings him down to the ground. It's Quanta's turn. I reacted.
- 40:56Speaker 2: It's Brock's turn. He reacted. Or no, it's Rigel's turn.
- 40:59Speaker 5: Thank you. Rigel having done nothing for two turns.
- 41:06Speaker 2: Two phases.
- 41:07Speaker 5: All of a sudden, he stops chanting.
- 41:11Speaker 2: The stars... Stop.
- 41:13Speaker 5: Rotating, forming the outline of the Pisces constellation right in
- 41:19Speaker 5: front of him. I have spoken to Starfolk. They never
- 41:24Speaker 5: mention the likes of you.
- 41:26Speaker 1: Die!
- 41:29Speaker 5: And Rigel is going to Kirby Warpstar style fly down
- 41:36Speaker 5: as hard.
- 41:37Speaker 2: And fast as he can.
- 41:39Speaker 5: Magical energy filling his fist. I've never been more sure
- 41:45Speaker 5: you're a bad guy. And I'm... I'm just gonna use
- 41:51Speaker 5: his ultimate.
- 41:55Speaker 2: Yay! Wow. On Brock Nanton. Yes. Hell yeah. Worth it. Okay, so.
- 42:03Speaker 3: This is dope. We're all, like, Quanj and I are
- 42:10Speaker 3: holding you in place, ready for you to Kirby down
- 42:13Speaker 3: on us.
- 42:13Speaker 2: It's freaking awesome. It's like we rehearsed this. Yep. Jameer.
- 42:17Speaker 1: Uh-huh.
- 42:19Speaker 2: Or I should say. We didn't. Rigel, you get two
- 42:24Speaker 2: actions for your ultimate. Which two actions are you doing?
- 42:29Speaker 3: Rigel is doing movement and attack.
- 42:32Speaker 2: Sounds good.
- 42:33Speaker 3: Roll your damage.
- 42:34Speaker 5: So as I read the rules, I get to combine
- 42:38Speaker 5: up to how many powers for this?
- 42:40Speaker 2: I think three. Yeah, I'm combining all three of my powers.
- 42:44Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 42:45Speaker 2: One of them has to be, two of them have
- 42:48Speaker 2: to be the powers with which you're using your actions, right?
- 42:51Speaker 1: Yes.
- 42:51Speaker 2: So your movement.
- 42:52Speaker 3: Yeah, flight stars, I'm using two EPs.
- 42:55Speaker 5: And then magic blasts, I'm using two EPs as my
- 43:01Speaker 5: fist that I'm leading with is resilient with starfire. And
- 43:05Speaker 5: then strength, I'm using two EPs.
- 43:08Speaker 3: And you'll likely, once you've moved, you'll be in close-up range,
- 43:12Speaker 3: so you get.
- 43:12Speaker 5: That plus two bonus for a total of 21 damage.
- 43:18Speaker 2: All right.
- 43:19Speaker 5: Wow.
- 43:19Speaker 1: So you just roll all those dice?
- 43:22Speaker 2: I got to roll them. Wow.
- 43:23Speaker 1: Wow. Wow.
- 43:26Speaker 3: Kill Brock Danton before he says anything.
- 43:31Speaker 2: Yeah, how deeply are you going to let us fail?
- 43:34Speaker 5: I'm positive this is the right course of action.
- 43:37Speaker 2: It is. It's awesome. Rigel's shooting star falling asteroid smashes
- 43:46Speaker 2: into the ground. Brock Danton looks up at the last second. Oh,
- 43:49Speaker 2: that's what he was doing. An explosion of star fire.
- 43:57Speaker 2: He had two HP.
- 44:00Speaker 3: Sure, sure.
- 44:04Speaker 2: So he goes down to zero. What I was looking
- 44:06Speaker 2: up for is that if in a single hit, I
- 44:09Speaker 2: think I thought about a rule one time that kind
- 44:12Speaker 2: of like D & D, if in a single hit
- 44:14Speaker 2: you take all of your death points, then you're actually dead.
- 44:18Speaker 2: But that is not a rule.
- 44:19Speaker 3: You're actually dead.
- 44:20Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 44:21Speaker 3: Well, and I would assume that Rigel's trying not to
- 44:23Speaker 3: deal lethal damage here. I.
- 44:25Speaker 2: I don't know what Rides is trying to do.
- 44:27Speaker 3: I would assume, but I don't know.
- 44:29Speaker 5: I'm not trying to do lethal, but yeah. Rides was
- 44:32Speaker 5: never trying to do lethal, but Rides was assuming he
- 44:34Speaker 5: was dealing with some cosmic otherworldly, you know, body snatcher.
- 44:39Speaker 2: So he was not holding back.
- 44:41Speaker 1: Does it eat into the death points at all?
- 44:43Speaker 2: No.
- 44:43Speaker 1: Oh.
- 44:44Speaker 2: So he's still, he goes down with six death points. He,
- 44:48Speaker 2: as he's down, this enormous explosion happens. He's not fully dead.
- 44:54Speaker 2: He looks up to you, Rigel.
- 44:57Speaker 4: Wow.
- 44:58Speaker 2: That was a big one. He pulls in his pocket
- 45:01Speaker 2: and pulls out like a little white hanky and just
- 45:03Speaker 2: waves it. Listen, kid, stop. Hey, stop, please. He speaks
- 45:10Speaker 2: good English. As the shockwave of Rigel hits the ground
- 45:16Speaker 2: and bursts out into the city around you, the station
- 45:21Speaker 2: around you, It disintegrates all of your cocoons, and Paige
- 45:28Speaker 2: is hit with it. Paige's eyes shoot open. White beams
- 45:34Speaker 2: come out of them, shooting into the sky. There is
- 45:38Speaker 2: a burst of energy that comes from her that rivals
- 45:42Speaker 2: Rigel's burst of energy. She breaks free from the bonds.
- 45:47Speaker 2: starts floating in midair. She is surrounded with white energy
- 45:52Speaker 2: that flows like a river and dances like fire. Her
- 45:56Speaker 2: hospital robes burn off and are replaced with an iridescent
- 46:01Speaker 2: white suit, the gloves and boots of which are lavender.
- 46:15Speaker 2: And she takes in her surroundings for a moment. Paige? Paige,
- 46:21Speaker 2: you're awake. Oh, shit.
- 46:22Speaker 3: What's going on?
- 46:24Speaker 2: I blame you for this. Okay. It's okay, Paige. Paige, relax.
- 46:31Speaker 2: I'll unfurl my cloak.
- 46:33Speaker 1: It's me.
- 46:34Speaker 2: It's Jason. Paige rushes towards you. Like flying rushes. Flying rushes.
- 46:40Speaker 2: She's face to face with you, Jason. In a split second.
- 46:51Speaker 2: And she throws her arms around your neck. Jason.
- 46:56Speaker 3: I didn't... I didn't know if you'd remember me.
- 47:02Speaker 2: Of course I'd remember you. Don't be silly. You're okay.
- 47:09Speaker 2: I'm okay.
- 47:11Speaker 3: I mean, you're more than okay.
- 47:14Speaker 2: I'm... She steps back, not knowing how to finish that sentence. I'm...
- 47:26Speaker 2: I don't know what I am. But I can see.
- 47:31Speaker 2: I can see things. I can see.
- 47:34Speaker 3: Everything.
- 47:36Speaker 2: Nothing. You're the phantom. I was... I.
- 47:44Speaker 3: See now that I was stupid not to realize.
- 47:49Speaker 2: I'm sorry I lied to you. I forgive you. I
- 47:57Speaker 2: forgive you, Jason. I forgive you. I understand. Oh, man. Well....
- 48:07Speaker 1: I.
- 48:08Speaker 2: That means we can... be together? I'd like that. We need...
- 48:17Speaker 2: I need to figure out what's going on.
- 48:20Speaker 3: We can help.
- 48:21Speaker 2: Okay. These are my friends. Yes. She looks at you,
- 48:27Speaker 2: looks beyond your masks. I've met them at the funeral. Hello.
- 48:34Speaker 4: Hi.
- 48:36Speaker 2: Hi. I'm pretty tired. Good to see you. Good to
- 48:44Speaker 2: see you as this. Did I do that to her?
- 48:48Speaker 4: Hey, Susan.
- 48:49Speaker 3: No, no, she got hit by a bunch of radiation
- 48:51Speaker 3: before that.
- 48:52Speaker 2: Oh, yeah, oh, yeah.
- 48:53Speaker 3: Do you want, do you need, like, a snack? Are
- 48:55Speaker 3: you good?
- 48:56Speaker 5: Reg was just laying down on top of Brock Danton. Like,
- 48:59Speaker 5: their bodies are, like, forming a plus sign. I'm just
- 49:03Speaker 5: going to hold this guy here.
- 49:06Speaker 2: Good work, buddy. He says, hey, man, that was a
- 49:08Speaker 2: good hit. I've been hit by a lot of different stuff.
- 49:11Speaker 2: That was a really good one, really good hit.
- 49:14Speaker 3: Hey, we don't need your patronizing tone, you fuck.
- 49:17Speaker 2: I'm not patronizing. I honestly... that was a really good.
- 49:21Speaker 3: Hit well now you've waved your little handkerchief you're fucking
- 49:24Speaker 3: done okay no I'm done she's not coming with.
- 49:27Speaker 2: You Paige Neal's down next to Brock you are in
- 49:35Speaker 2: a roundabout way my creator what What do you mean?
- 49:41Speaker 3: I don't think so.
- 49:43Speaker 2: I haven't been to Earth for a long time. Haven't
- 49:46Speaker 2: lain with anyone. Haven't lain with an Earthling for some time. No,
- 49:51Speaker 2: not like that. Quanta wrinkles her nose. Lain? Yeah, lain.
- 49:58Speaker 2: You guys don't say lain anymore?
- 50:00Speaker 4: No.
- 50:01Speaker 3: No. No, even I don't say lane.
- 50:04Speaker 2: Nigel kind of shifts away from his middle section. I think.
- 50:10Speaker 3: I think what she's trying to say is she got
- 50:15Speaker 3: hit by the technology that you helped develop.
- 50:18Speaker 2: The morphogenetic field generator.
- 50:20Speaker 3: That's the one.
- 50:21Speaker 2: Oh, MFG, okay. Well, hey, we need your help. She...
- 50:32Speaker 2: touches his head her head snaps back her eyes go
- 50:37Speaker 2: white she looks at you Jason I have to try
- 50:47Speaker 2: to help.
- 50:49Speaker 3: I'm sorry well you can help from here you don't
- 50:52Speaker 3: have to go you just got back please don't leave
- 50:59Speaker 3: I can't help from here What about... He made the
- 51:04Speaker 3: technology you said. Why doesn't he just shoot someone else
- 51:07Speaker 3: with morphogenetic field generator rays?
- 51:11Speaker 2: That's not all that was in me, Jason. Something else.
- 51:18Speaker 2: I was someone else before that. Yeah, you were Paige.
- 51:24Speaker 2: Paige Wright. I'm still Paige. But I can help them,
- 51:28Speaker 2: so I have to. He's right. Many will die. He's right.
- 51:40Speaker 2: I don't care.
- 51:41Speaker 3: I don't care about them.
- 51:41Speaker 2: They're not even... It's.
- 51:46Speaker 3: Not even on this planet. It's not like going across town.
- 51:51Speaker 3: You've never been out of the city. You're going to
- 51:52Speaker 3: go to space? I can help them. I have to try. Well,
- 52:02Speaker 3: then I'm coming with you.
- 52:05Speaker 2: This city needs you, Jason. Fucking barely. I'll come back,
- 52:13Speaker 2: and we'll save this city together. But I have to
- 52:16Speaker 2: save Io.
- 52:21Speaker 3: I just... I can't lose you.
- 52:26Speaker 2: She reaches up, grabs your face, kisses your mouth. And
- 52:34Speaker 2: in that moment, let me show you. Your vision goes
- 52:48Speaker 2: black and then the two of you are flying together
- 52:51Speaker 2: through space in your mind's eye. She goes to Io
- 52:59Speaker 2: all the way out orbiting Jupiter. Look, this is me now.
- 53:05Speaker 2: This is what I can do. A pittance of what
- 53:08Speaker 2: I can do. If I tell you I'm gonna come back,
- 53:12Speaker 2: I'm gonna come back. I guess.
- 53:20Speaker 3: It just doesn't... Doesn't feel fair. You know, forget what
- 53:27Speaker 3: this guy wants, this guy's world. What do you want?
- 53:31Speaker 3: What about you and me?
- 53:32Speaker 2: I can't. want to be with you and save people
- 53:40Speaker 2: I can't want both things.
- 53:42Speaker 3: I'm I'm trying to give this up so that we
- 53:47Speaker 3: could be together I don't care about this not as
- 53:51Speaker 3: much as you.
- 53:53Speaker 2: That's that's okay but I want to help you always
- 53:59Speaker 2: wanted help you know me You know me well enough
- 54:05Speaker 2: to know this is what I would do, right?
- 54:08Speaker 1: I know.
- 54:09Speaker 3: I'm the same Paige. I'm the Paige you love.
- 54:11Speaker 2: If I just left these people to die, when I
- 54:16Speaker 2: could help them, would you still love me?
- 54:18Speaker 3: I guess that wouldn't be very Paige-right of you. I
- 54:22Speaker 3: just sort of figured after getting crushed by the generator,
- 54:29Speaker 3: you might not feel the same way.
- 54:33Speaker 2: About what?
- 54:36Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 54:38Speaker 3: My friend looked in your brain and said it was
- 54:40Speaker 3: all different.
- 54:42Speaker 2: Gone. I have been remade. But I'm still Paige. The
- 54:56Speaker 2: two of you fly back through the solar system into
- 55:00Speaker 2: your body. My underpants are on backwards.
- 55:06Speaker 3: She looks at you. She looks at you. Oh, I'm sorry.
- 55:12Speaker 2: She snaps her fingers. Your underpants turn around. I understand.
- 55:19Speaker 3: I'll be back.
- 55:21Speaker 2: I know. Wait for me and watch the sky.
- 55:31Speaker 4: I will.
- 55:33Speaker 3: She.
- 55:36Speaker 2: Gestures to Brock. Are you coming? Oh, yeah. One second.
- 55:41Speaker 2: Where's my stems? He crawls through the dirt, grabs a stem,
- 55:45Speaker 2: pokes himself. Hey, listen. Sorry, you guys, about the fight.
- 55:54Speaker 2: I'm really impressed with y'all. I'm really impressed. I really am.
- 55:58Speaker 2: I'm not being, not pandering. You guys beat my ass.
- 56:04Speaker 2: I got to get back in the gym.
- 56:07Speaker 5: Well, don't go stealing our people without, you know, asking
- 56:14Speaker 5: if they want to be taken.
- 56:16Speaker 2: I don't know the lesson. They were trying to take
- 56:18Speaker 2: her while she was unconscious.
- 56:19Speaker 1: Yeah, this is our city. You can't just, yeah.
- 56:24Speaker 2: Okay, okay, good to know.
- 56:25Speaker 1: You may be a big deal, but you can't just
- 56:28Speaker 1: waltz into somebody's city and somebody's hospital room and steal somebody.
- 56:33Speaker 3: Also, can you tell me everything about the Age of Heroes?
- 56:37Speaker 2: Maybe next time, kid. No, please. I need to know.
- 56:41Speaker 2: That was patronizing. Paige grabs Brock. They are covered both
- 56:48Speaker 2: in a white bullet of energy, and they both launch
- 56:54Speaker 2: into space. What a woman.
- 57:03Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 57:06Speaker 2: Woof.
- 57:07Speaker 1: You just quietly put a hand on Jason's shoulder from behind.
- 57:13Speaker 3: I put my hand on your hand. Paper covers my
- 57:17Speaker 3: face back up. Thanks for being here, guys.
- 57:38Speaker 2: With that, come out of downtime. What? That's our downtime? Dang,
- 57:48Speaker 2: I was going to go to Grimace King.
- 57:49Speaker 3: I was going to do that. Got to take my
- 57:53Speaker 3: pills to get up from downtime.
- 57:56Speaker 1: I forgot my blue pill.
- 57:59Speaker 3: Wait, we are done, right?
- 58:00Speaker 1: Or no?
- 58:01Speaker 2: Yeah, I think so. I think we just wanted more
- 58:04Speaker 2: falling action, but.
- 58:07Speaker 3: I'm just kidding.
- 58:07Speaker 2: No, no more falling action. Okay, at the end of downtime,
- 58:10Speaker 2: as we come out of downtime, two things happen. One, Jason,
- 58:16Speaker 2: you get a letter. You get a letter from the
- 58:18Speaker 2: tubes from Manny. Jason, here are your findings. I'm not
- 58:23Speaker 2: going to do Manny's voice because you're reading it. Jason,
- 58:26Speaker 2: here are our findings.
- 58:27Speaker 3: In layman's terms.
- 58:30Speaker 2: In layman's terms. You guys going to keep doing this? Yeah.
- 58:35Speaker 5: I kind of like the Jason reading, but that was
- 58:38Speaker 5: just me.
- 58:38Speaker 2: Okay, I'll shut up then. No, no, no. I'm not everyone.
- 58:43Speaker 2: Some people might be really into the also quant.
- 58:46Speaker 3: Also quant to doing an impression of the Mandarin from
- 58:49Speaker 3: Iron Man 3.
- 58:50Speaker 1: Or into hearing the letter read thrice over just a
- 58:54Speaker 1: beat behind every other word.
- 58:56Speaker 3: You can just tell us the content of the letter.
- 58:57Speaker 3: It's fine. If people need to know the information.
- 59:00Speaker 2: Jason, here are our findings in layman's terms and my
- 59:03Speaker 2: suggestions for procedure. Within the book, there is a gateway
- 59:09Speaker 2: to a vast and endless source of energy. It is
- 59:13Speaker 2: an energy that eats away at everything around it. It
- 59:17Speaker 2: is an element we have no name for. But that's
- 59:21Speaker 2: neither here nor there, really. Just interesting. Between that space
- 59:26Speaker 2: and us is a bulwark. A bulwark. Bulwark. A bulwark. Bulwark. Bulwark.
- 59:33Speaker 2: Between that space and us is a bulwark, a sentinel.
- 59:37Speaker 2: It has no physical components or structure. We can only
- 59:40Speaker 2: assume its presence due to the fact that the energy
- 59:43Speaker 2: beyond has not devoured you nor our entire world, to
- 59:47Speaker 2: be frank. All that to say, the book and the
- 59:50Speaker 2: bulwark within you do not seem dependent upon you. However,
- 59:56Speaker 2: your body does depend on them or it. Many of
- 1:00:01Speaker 2: your bodily functions are being maintained by the power of
- 1:00:04Speaker 2: that thing, primarily your circulatory and respiratory systems. Your heart
- 1:00:09Speaker 2: and lungs were crushed into nothing when you united with
- 1:00:12Speaker 2: the book. They are not present, and the book is
- 1:00:15Speaker 2: somehow allowing you to live. All that said, we can
- 1:00:20Speaker 2: try an operation. There is no precedent for this, so
- 1:00:23Speaker 2: I cannot guarantee success, but we may be able to
- 1:00:26Speaker 2: perform a transplant in the book for a new set
- 1:00:29Speaker 2: of lungs and a heart. Ellington has a good relationship
- 1:00:33Speaker 2: with the hospitals in the city and I've found compatible organs.
- 1:00:37Speaker 2: Come by in two days if you'd like to proceed.
- 1:00:40Speaker 2: My medical team predicts a 93% chance of success. Love,
- 1:00:45Speaker 2: Manny Ellington. Adoringly, Manny. Adoringly, Manny. That was bad. The
- 1:00:58Speaker 2: first two weeks of Henry Hillen's mayorship come to a close.
- 1:01:05Speaker 2: With that, the American ambassador takes the stage on a
- 1:01:12Speaker 2: small platform on the steps of City Hall. He is
- 1:01:20Speaker 2: recorded and broadcasted throughout the city. New Bible. My name
- 1:01:28Speaker 2: is Devin Sandell, and I have been blessed to be
- 1:01:33Speaker 2: among you these past two weeks. I have fallen in
- 1:01:38Speaker 2: love with this city. This city is what America is
- 1:01:42Speaker 2: all about, and it deserves to become, again, the jewel
- 1:01:47Speaker 2: of our nation. Let me assure you. What drugs is
- 1:01:56Speaker 2: this guy on? He's blazed out of his mind.
- 1:02:02Speaker 3: Hi, I'm crack cocaine.
- 1:02:07Speaker 2: This is really important stuff. Let me assure you, the
- 1:02:13Speaker 2: wealth I brought with me here is a fraction of
- 1:02:16Speaker 2: what the United Nations is dedicated to making this city
- 1:02:20Speaker 2: what it once was. What I brought was meant to
- 1:02:23Speaker 2: act as reparations for decades being separated from the world.
- 1:02:30Speaker 2: What is to come is for regrowth, and then the
- 1:02:34Speaker 2: abundance of these great people. This crowd that has gathered roars.
- 1:02:42Speaker 2: The decisions are not mine. So I was shocked when
- 1:02:47Speaker 2: I was greenlit to tell you what the world wants
- 1:02:50Speaker 2: to bring. They want to make every citizen of New
- 1:02:54Speaker 2: Babel wealthy beyond your wildest dreams. In exchange, of course,
- 1:03:02Speaker 2: for tearing down your walls, revealing the secrets of space
- 1:03:07Speaker 2: travel kept here, and becoming a historical destination for visitors
- 1:03:12Speaker 2: and tourists. To begin this transaction, to begin the flow
- 1:03:19Speaker 2: of gold into this city, to start a second founding age,
- 1:03:24Speaker 2: the golden age of New Babel, there are some things
- 1:03:29Speaker 2: we need from you. You, the great people of this city.
- 1:03:37Speaker 2: There has been great progress in the first measure that
- 1:03:40Speaker 2: the world outside requires you to take. Organized crime must
- 1:03:43Speaker 2: be dealt with. It has run rampant. Second, there is
- 1:03:47Speaker 2: allowed no powered individuals here.
- 1:03:49Speaker 5: Mm-hmm.
- 1:04:10Speaker 2: There it is. The United Nations will not support any
- 1:04:14Speaker 2: humanitarian funds to this city while they operate. Whether it
- 1:04:19Speaker 2: be or not, it smells too much like the great
- 1:04:23Speaker 2: atrocity and manipulation of the evils of old. So for
- 1:04:28Speaker 2: the good of your people, heroes, he says with air quotes,
- 1:04:33Speaker 2: go into hiding. If you refuse, your mayor has been
- 1:04:38Speaker 2: equipped to neutralize you. Third, the lawlessness and communism of
- 1:04:49Speaker 2: what you endearingly call the shoot is no longer allowed.
- 1:04:56Speaker 2: Those living there must be removed and processed. We have
- 1:05:02Speaker 2: gifted you enough to rehouse them in affordable housing units
- 1:05:06Speaker 2: in what you call no man's land. It will be
- 1:05:11Speaker 2: easier for you shooters if you do not resist. See
- 1:05:16Speaker 2: it as a gift in lieu of being punished for
- 1:05:19Speaker 2: decades of lawlessness. Fourth.
- 1:05:23Speaker 3: Fourth.
- 1:05:27Speaker 2: Fourth and... Fourth and... Fourth and finally, the day people...
- 1:05:37Speaker 2: will not be a comfortable part of the tourist experience
- 1:05:40Speaker 2: for those visiting, if allowed to remain in their current status.
- 1:05:46Speaker 2: They are to be reverted to their initial purpose. We
- 1:05:50Speaker 2: have missives from the Evo William Blainer of his plan
- 1:05:55Speaker 2: for the day machines. They were meant to be protectors,
- 1:05:59Speaker 2: but as you have changed, you are much more docile
- 1:06:02Speaker 2: machines than that, and thus your options are these. Day people,
- 1:06:08Speaker 2: you may join the police force and serve the people
- 1:06:11Speaker 2: around you as you were intended to do. Or you
- 1:06:15Speaker 2: may take a service role for a valued member of
- 1:06:18Speaker 2: society to be paid in room and board. You will
- 1:06:23Speaker 2: find your programming fulfilled and you will be satisfied. This
- 1:06:28Speaker 2: will be a quaint and exciting view of the servicing
- 1:06:33Speaker 2: machines as outsiders visit. I'm going to puke. Do these things,
- 1:06:37Speaker 2: New Babel, and the wealth of the world will be
- 1:06:41Speaker 2: yours once again. And that's where we'll end this episode
- 1:06:55Speaker 2: of the Team Up Play Show podcast. Wowie wowie wowie wow.
- 1:07:01Speaker 5: Wow.
- 1:07:03Speaker 2: Hell yeah. Let's do it for the gold.
- 1:07:05Speaker 3: Give us the cash.
- 1:07:09Speaker 5: You know, Steph's willing to be a slave so some
- 1:07:14Speaker 5: other guy can get it really rich.
- 1:07:17Speaker 2: So bones can get rich. You know what? For bones, anything.
- 1:07:22Speaker 2: It is his city. I was a goddess, but this
- 1:07:26Speaker 2: is his city. All right, let's save it for the
- 1:07:29Speaker 2: chat cave. Come on over to the chat cave. It's
- 1:07:31Speaker 2: on our Patreon, patreon.com slash team up RPG, where you
- 1:07:35Speaker 2: can join the chat cave. It's our post show where
- 1:07:36Speaker 2: we're going to talk about this. and other fun stuff. Uh,
- 1:07:40Speaker 2: we will see you over there and we'll see you
- 1:07:42Speaker 2: next week with another episode. Goodbye. Bye. So scary. So scary.
- 1:07:51Speaker 2: Four things. Bad. Most of the bad guys. Yes. Months
- 1:08:06Speaker 2: before our heroes meet. May I continue then? You've been
- 1:08:14Speaker 2: the only one I've found willing to listen. So it
- 1:08:17Speaker 2: does me good to speak to you. There is more
- 1:08:20Speaker 2: to say. I'm glad I found you. Yes, please.
- 1:08:24Speaker 4: I'm eager to hear more.
- 1:08:26Speaker 2: I ate. I grew. I learned. I dug through my
- 1:08:30Speaker 2: parents' old research and gleaned much about their study of genetics.
- 1:08:35Speaker 2: I found that the work they had done on my
- 1:08:37Speaker 2: mind increased my ability to intake and retain information. Then
- 1:08:41Speaker 2: the time came when I discovered that the work they
- 1:08:44Speaker 2: had done on my body gave me strength and speed
- 1:08:47Speaker 2: beyond that of an average man.
- 1:08:49Speaker 3: And how would you have discovered such a thing, so isolated?
- 1:08:54Speaker 2: A tactical squadron of New Babel police were sent into
- 1:08:57Speaker 2: my parents' old lab and asked, Afraid and ignorant, I
- 1:09:02Speaker 2: slew them all. Their bullets hurt me, but it was
- 1:09:06Speaker 2: not enough to stop me. So as Hercules, I strangled
- 1:09:10Speaker 2: the snakes that had come into my crib.
- 1:09:13Speaker 4: There are many young gods and legends who show such
- 1:09:16Speaker 4: violence in their early years, not knowing their power.
- 1:09:20Speaker 3: Are you saying you believe me, Deacon, that I am
- 1:09:23Speaker 3: God remade?
- 1:09:24Speaker 4: There's much, much I'd like to hear before I make
- 1:09:27Speaker 4: any kind of pronouncement. Also, I would ask, you accredited
- 1:09:32Speaker 4: your power of strength and of mind to your parents'
- 1:09:34Speaker 4: work in science. Would that not contradict your belief in
- 1:09:38Speaker 4: your own godhood?
- 1:09:40Speaker 2: Well, this is why I've come to you. I've started
- 1:09:43Speaker 2: to think that their work maybe has nothing to do
- 1:09:46Speaker 2: with my strength at all. or is at least in
- 1:09:49Speaker 2: service to my godhood. If their work had the effects
- 1:09:53Speaker 2: that they wanted it to, why did none of the
- 1:09:56Speaker 2: other subjects survive? I would have perished like the others
- 1:09:59Speaker 2: if I was not a reincarnation of God, for gods
- 1:10:02Speaker 2: do not die. Like your Christ, I rose from a
- 1:10:06Speaker 2: dark grave.
- 1:10:09Speaker 3: So it could be.
- 1:10:12Speaker 2: To be continued.
- 1:10:20Speaker 6: That was Ethan Goldman as the Paper Phantom, Stephanie Fackler
- 1:10:24Speaker 6: as Quanta, Ben as Rigel, and Johnny Wilson as your
- 1:10:29Speaker 6: game director and the creator of Team Up.
- 1:10:32Speaker 2: And special thank you to Matt Jacobs as the Deacon.
