- 0:16Speaker 1: and March. Get your tickets. Let me tell you, I
- 0:19Speaker 1: saw the show in New York. You will not be disappointed.
- 0:22Speaker 1: The whole thing is like an encore from start to finish.
- 0:27Speaker 1: The man has sold over 150 million records worldwide, a
- 0:32Speaker 1: 16-time Grammy Award winner, the only artist to ever win
- 0:36Speaker 1: three times record of the year, the number one artist
- 0:39Speaker 1: on Spotify right now, sitting down one-on-one talking life, love, music.
- 0:44Speaker 1: Are you ready, Bruno?
- 0:45Speaker 2: Smilesy, we're back.
- 0:46Speaker 1: We're back together, baby.
- 0:48Speaker 2: We did it. Hey, this is Bruno Mars. When are
- 0:50Speaker 2: we going to do a song, Smilesy?
- 0:51Speaker 1: I want to do a song with you.
- 0:53Speaker 2: Let's do it.
- 0:53Speaker 1: Bruno Mars.
- 0:54Speaker 2: Smilesy.
- 0:55Speaker 1: We're back together, baby.
- 0:56Speaker 2: Good to see you, brother.
- 0:57Speaker 1: It is so good to see you. It feels fitting
- 1:00Speaker 1: to be here in New York to announce the tour.
- 1:03Speaker 1: The first time we met was 2011, 15 years ago.
- 1:06Speaker 1: Dare I say we look better today?
- 1:08Speaker 2: I feel like we do.
- 1:10Speaker 1: So I did some digging. I found our very first photo.
- 1:14Speaker 2: Don't do it.
- 1:14Speaker 1: Do you want to see?
- 1:15Speaker 2: Look at us.
- 1:16Speaker 1: Look at us, babies.
- 1:18Speaker 2: You got to put that up. You got to put
- 1:19Speaker 2: that up on the screen.
- 1:20Speaker 1: So since then, you won 16 Grammys, billions of streams.
- 1:25Speaker 1: So many world tours. I haven't done that much, but,
- 1:29Speaker 1: you know, you're doing all right. You're doing all right.
- 1:33Speaker 2: I'm still going.
- 1:34Speaker 3: You are.
- 1:34Speaker 2: I'm still trucking. Wow.
- 1:35Speaker 1: 15 years, man. Where do we even start?
- 1:38Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 1:39Speaker 1: Do you have a highlight?
- 1:40Speaker 3: I don't know. It's definitely, it feels like it was
- 1:45Speaker 3: just yesterday.
- 1:46Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:47Speaker 1: I mean, it looks, sorry, for the record, it looks
- 1:49Speaker 1: like it was just yesterday because we have aged like
- 1:52Speaker 1: fine wine.
- 1:53Speaker 2: Yeah, that's what I'm telling everybody. Put the picture back up.
- 1:56Speaker 1: Yeah, absolutely. Hey, no, I found another one. I found
- 1:58Speaker 1: another one. Because you, like, obviously, notoriously, you don't do
- 2:01Speaker 1: that much press. And so I found this one. This
- 2:05Speaker 1: is 2014, I think. Here we go. When you were
- 2:07Speaker 1: terrible hair for me.
- 2:09Speaker 2: Look at us. Terrible.
- 2:10Speaker 1: But you two, look at you, looking great.
- 2:12Speaker 2: That's 2014? Yeah.
- 2:14Speaker 3: Wow.
- 2:15Speaker 1: What a trip, right? Question is, biggest difference with Bruno
- 2:19Speaker 1: Mars from 2011 to today in 2026. What do you
- 2:22Speaker 1: reckon it is?
- 2:25Speaker 2: Probably just a little more comfortable. Yeah.
- 2:27Speaker 3: I think these are pictures of when I was trying
- 2:30Speaker 3: to navigate how this all works. And I feel like
- 2:34Speaker 3: I'm just a little more comfortable now and I understand
- 2:37Speaker 3: what my purpose is.
- 2:38Speaker 1: Okay, wow. I like that. You are like the charisma,
- 2:43Speaker 1: stage presence, performance. It goes without saying, when you came
- 2:47Speaker 1: to Australia and you opened that stadium, right? Yeah. That was,
- 2:50Speaker 1: I was like third row. Incredible experience. I always say
- 2:55Speaker 1: people have to do one thing in their life. If
- 2:56Speaker 1: you've never seen a Bruno Mars show, have to see
- 2:59Speaker 1: Bruno Mars because your stage presence is one in a million.
- 3:02Speaker 2: That means the world to me. Yeah.
- 3:04Speaker 3: Not my interview presence, but when I'm on stage.
- 3:06Speaker 1: No, yeah, no, terrible interviews. Terrible interviews. In fact, so terrible,
- 3:10Speaker 1: I bring a gift from Australia for you. Can you
- 3:12Speaker 1: pass me these?
- 3:13Speaker 2: I bought... Let's have it.
- 3:14Speaker 1: So, obviously, Australia, I bought you Tim Tams.
- 3:17Speaker 2: Of course.
- 3:18Speaker 1: Okay, to get you in the mood for the Aussie tour. However,
- 3:21Speaker 1: I got them to do a special for you. The Brunos.
- 3:24Speaker 2: You see that?
- 3:25Speaker 4: Hello.
- 3:26Speaker 2: You see that?
- 3:27Speaker 1: This is how much Australia... They're for you. Officially, one only.
- 3:31Speaker 1: Never to be repeated. Never to be repeated. Tim Tams
- 3:35Speaker 1: renamed the Brunos in honour of you coming to Australia.
- 3:37Speaker 2: You can't beat that right there.
- 3:39Speaker 1: So much we love you.
- 3:41Speaker 2: Thank you, Paul.
- 3:41Speaker 1: The romantic tour. You are so confident on stage. Where
- 3:44Speaker 1: does it come from?
- 3:45Speaker 2: Oh. Songs.
- 3:49Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 3:50Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm in the studio, you know, and I want
- 3:52Speaker 3: to feel a certain kind of energy and I know
- 3:55Speaker 3: what it feels like to be on stage and I
- 3:57Speaker 3: know the emotion I want to give. So I have
- 3:59Speaker 3: to do my best to try to put it down
- 4:01Speaker 3: through music.
- 4:02Speaker 1: Mm-hmm. Have you ever worn a step counter? This sounds
- 4:05Speaker 1: a bit like boomery, but like you do a lot
- 4:08Speaker 1: on stage for two and a half hours. Do you
- 4:11Speaker 1: know how much, how many steps you take, how many
- 4:13Speaker 1: cows you burn? Because you give 110%.
- 4:16Speaker 2: I don't. I should.
- 4:18Speaker 1: You should. No, just for, you know.
- 4:20Speaker 2: I'll do it on, if you see me in Australia.
- 4:22Speaker 1: With a Fitbit on or something like that.
- 4:23Speaker 2: It's because it's small.
- 4:24Speaker 1: He's counting his steps.
- 4:26Speaker 2: I'll let you know.
- 4:27Speaker 1: Well, I don't mean to be rude, but we are.
- 4:29Speaker 1: We have been around for a while now. We should
- 4:31Speaker 1: be paying attention to our steps.
- 4:32Speaker 2: We should. Especially if we're eating like this.
- 4:35Speaker 1: Oh, absolutely. Absolutely. What's the pre-show ritual? Talk me through it.
- 4:39Speaker 1: How are you? What are you doing?
- 4:41Speaker 2: I got pictures of the Hulk.
- 4:42Speaker 1: Yeah? Yeah.
- 4:44Speaker 2: And on my mirror. And I have to like, I
- 4:46Speaker 2: have to morph.
- 4:47Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 4:48Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 4:48Speaker 1: Do you like religiously stare into those pictures or are you?
- 4:52Speaker 3: Sometimes because, you know, backstage does not look like what
- 4:57Speaker 3: the stage looks like. Sometimes you can get lost and
- 4:59Speaker 3: forget that I got to, you know.
- 5:03Speaker 1: You tell yourself you're worthy, don't you?
- 5:04Speaker 2: Yeah, you got to.
- 5:06Speaker 1: I'm Bruno Mars.
- 5:07Speaker 2: I am worthy. I got to get up on stage and,
- 5:09Speaker 2: you know, and give it to them.
- 5:11Speaker 1: Obviously, when you come to Australia, people who've seen you know,
- 5:14Speaker 1: and I've touched on how just incredible of a performer
- 5:17Speaker 1: you are. But I saw the Silksonic residency, okay? And
- 5:21Speaker 1: everyone put their phones into the pouches. Yeah. Can I
- 5:25Speaker 1: say that is the best experience I have had in
- 5:28Speaker 1: my life?
- 5:29Speaker 2: Thank you. Thank you.
- 5:30Speaker 3: And that means a lot to me because I know
- 5:32Speaker 3: how people feel about having their phones. But I feel
- 5:36Speaker 3: like there's something special about, I call it removing option C.
- 5:40Speaker 1: Okay.
- 5:41Speaker 2: Okay?
- 5:42Speaker 3: Option A, you're having the greatest time. Option B, you're not.
- 5:47Speaker 3: And those are your choices.
- 5:48Speaker 2: Okay. Right.
- 5:49Speaker 3: Option C is, well, I don't know what to feel.
- 5:52Speaker 3: So I'm going to put my phone on and record. Oh,
- 5:56Speaker 3: so if you take away option C, yeah, then you're
- 5:58Speaker 3: forced to either have a good time or not. And
- 6:02Speaker 3: that's what I was hoping to do.
- 6:05Speaker 2: No.
- 6:06Speaker 1: And you, I think you absolutely have nailed it. And
- 6:08Speaker 1: for people who don't know, like you would go into the,
- 6:10Speaker 1: your show when you were doing the residency and people
- 6:13Speaker 1: had to put their phones in a bag because you
- 6:15Speaker 1: wanted them to be present and in the moment and
- 6:18Speaker 1: you walk away from the show going that was the
- 6:21Speaker 1: best experience of my life no distractions just focused squared
- 6:25Speaker 1: in on.
- 6:25Speaker 2: Stage that means the world to me thank you.
- 6:27Speaker 1: So anyway you can't do that at a stadium you
- 6:29Speaker 1: can't do that at a stadium there's too many pouches
- 6:32Speaker 1: however may I say to people like you know do
- 6:35Speaker 1: maybe film one because everyone's got their Instagram right film
- 6:38Speaker 1: one but then put it away because you from song
- 6:43Speaker 1: two it's like an encore the entire show There's.
- 6:46Speaker 3: A magic effect that happens when you're immersed in a
- 6:52Speaker 3: concert or experience that everyone is with you. I feel
- 6:58Speaker 3: like sometimes when the phones come out, it's.
- 7:00Speaker 2: Like there's a separation.
- 7:03Speaker 3: So being able to have these moments and feeling that
- 7:07Speaker 3: is what I do it for.
- 7:08Speaker 1: Congratulations on the record, obviously, that has come out, The Romantic.
- 7:11Speaker 1: It's the name of the tour as well. you are, uh,
- 7:16Speaker 1: how do I say this? You don't take your flowers
- 7:20Speaker 1: publicly of all of the songs that you have had
- 7:23Speaker 1: a hand in writing across your career. Cause a lot
- 7:26Speaker 1: of artists sometimes might lean in and go, Oh, someone
- 7:29Speaker 1: so knows that someone's written that. What do you think
- 7:33Speaker 1: is the best song you've ever written?
- 7:35Speaker 3: Oh, I got a, I got a soft spot for
- 7:39Speaker 3: a few of them. Um, When I Was Your Man
- 7:45Speaker 3: is a pretty sad song. That one's like, I don't
- 7:50Speaker 3: know if I could write something sadder than that. And
- 7:54Speaker 3: then I got Locked Outta Heaven was a hard song
- 7:58Speaker 3: for me to figure out.
- 7:59Speaker 2: They all feel like that. They're hard to figure out.
- 8:02Speaker 3: You got these concepts and it's like, I need to
- 8:05Speaker 3: make this concept feel like this.
- 8:08Speaker 2: And that's the hardest part. So each song, I could tell.
- 8:11Speaker 3: You a horror story about each and every song until
- 8:13Speaker 3: we finally, you know.
- 8:15Speaker 2: Okay.
- 8:16Speaker 1: Well, I'm running out of time. So answer this one.
- 8:18Speaker 1: What's your favorite to perform?
- 8:19Speaker 2: Ooh. I'll tell you this one. My favorite one to
- 8:23Speaker 2: perform last night.
- 8:24Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 8:25Speaker 2: Was Risk It All.
- 8:26Speaker 1: Okay, great. Love it.
- 8:28Speaker 2: Risk It All was the song I enjoyed.
- 8:30Speaker 1: Now I've got two minutes to go. So let's go quick.
- 8:34Speaker 2: Okay.
- 8:35Speaker 1: The romantic tour. Is it a coincidence that you'll be
- 8:37Speaker 1: in Australia on Valentine's Day?
- 8:39Speaker 2: Nope. It's not a coincidence at all.
- 8:40Speaker 1: Okay. What's your love language? I'll give them to you.
- 8:44Speaker 1: You can choose.
- 8:44Speaker 2: Go for it.
- 8:45Speaker 1: Words of affirmation, quality time, receiving gifts, giving gifts, physical touch.
- 8:51Speaker 3: Ooh.
- 8:52Speaker 2: I'm just going to say physical touch right now.
- 8:54Speaker 1: Yeah. Well, you know what? Anyone who's seen you... You physically,
- 8:58Speaker 1: you haven't physically touched me, but like on stage, you physically.
- 9:01Speaker 2: Where is this going, Smallsy?
- 9:02Speaker 1: Yeah, no, sorry. Your team is like, wrap this up.
- 9:06Speaker 1: And then quickly, finally, I do want to talk about
- 9:08Speaker 1: the musical ladies in your life. You've had two big collabs, obviously,
- 9:12Speaker 1: in the last 12 months or 24 months. Congratulations on those.
- 9:14Speaker 1: Thank you. But I always note with interest, you choose
- 9:18Speaker 1: powerful women to open or support you and you take
- 9:22Speaker 1: them around the world with you. So we saw Rae.
- 9:25Speaker 1: You had Dua Lipa back in the day. How do
- 9:27Speaker 1: you choose that? Do you look for someone in particular
- 9:30Speaker 1: musically to support you or?
- 9:32Speaker 2: Well, I think these girls are all stars.
- 9:34Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 9:34Speaker 3: You know, and I got lucky with them on the,
- 9:38Speaker 3: they were ascending.
- 9:40Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 9:40Speaker 3: You know, and it was an honor to be able
- 9:42Speaker 3: to say, yeah, Dua Lipa was on tour with me
- 9:46Speaker 3: and Victoria Monet just left.
- 9:47Speaker 2: I got Rain now, you know, and.
- 9:49Speaker 3: I'm hoping everyone sees the magic in them.
- 9:52Speaker 1: Love it. Well, thank you for your time.
- 9:53Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 9:54Speaker 1: Great to see you. Can we recreate that photo so
- 9:56Speaker 1: that we have a more up-to-date? We have to. We
- 9:58Speaker 1: have to do that. Enjoy your Brunos, a.k.a. Tim Tams.
- 10:01Speaker 1: Thank you. And it's such a pleasure to see you again.
- 10:03Speaker 2: You're the man. Smalzy. Now on KISS.
- 10:06Speaker 4: Spoil Dad This Father's Day with the Chemist Warehouse Fragrance Sale.
