• 0:28
you know, like a good healthy 20, 21 degrees out, but the fucking wind- 16. 16, but the wind- Yeah, it's been dropping all day Yeah, the wind chills... but the wind chill takes you down to the zero- Yeah...
• 0:40
or the negatives. I'm going home straight into it. I got here straight into it. I'm gonna... Ooh, it's gonna be such a nice push- You know, there's a couple bars-... all the way home...
• 0:48
between here and your house just in case you need to warm up on the way. I'll go to Dino's. Huh? I'ma go to Dino's. Fahrbar? No, I'm not going to Fahrbar. Fuck those guys. [laughs] Wine, Wine Wednesday then.
• 0:58
I stopped in there, um- Wine Wednesday. I didn't- I st- I stopped in there on, uh, New Year's Day. Oh. After we were... [laughs] After, it was the after stop basically. Oh.
• 1:09
[laughs] So yeah, so- I, yeah, I peel, I peeled home. I was like, "I don't want to deal with anything more in snow bound," da, da, da. I had flashbacks of last year.
• 1:24
Thought it was cool, so yeah, we, so we did our annual New Year's Day ride as- Yeah. It was overrated... we're, we're starting at the end though today. Yeah. Oh, yes. Yeah, we are.
• 1:32
Uh, this is the thing where we all meet down at the Bradford Beach lakefront there on beautiful shores of Lake Michigan and watch those dips do the dip on- Yeah, we think-... the Polar Bear Plunge.
• 1:42
And we think we're the smart ones. [laughs] Mm-hmm. Yeah. Right? Then I think later in the, [laughs] later in our own program- Yeah... or the next day like, ah.
• 1:50
No, yeah, they're probably all home and warm and tucked into bed, and yeah, we're s- Well, the thing was- I, I think the weather was totally wrong...
• 1:56
last year, I, I, I must have just blocked it out of my memory, because last year was when I left my backpack at Champions. Do you remember that? Yes. And then- So no, yeah. No, yeah. Yeah. No, no- I do...
• 2:11
yeah, no, yeah, yeah. No, I do remember that- And then I was-... now that you refreshed my memory of it... because my keys were on my bag that I left there. Oh, I do remember this, yeah. And then boom, ba-boom, ba-boom.
• 2:18
But it was kinda warm out last year, wasn't it? It was just snowy. Yeah. It was just snowy- Yeah, really snowy... not windy, and yeah, very- Yeah, snow globe here- So, yeah... type.
• 2:28
So yeah, so the, so we went- No calamity this year... we went to the Bradford Beach. Yeah. Then we went to- Went to the Swinging Door... Swinging Door where- Outdoor seating, damn it... yeah, where actually- Who cared?
• 2:38
... that was pretty good because the building was blocking the wind. Yep. And the heat. Yep. Those heat- And they had, they had those little-... lamp things-... those little heat lamps... were pretty awesome...
• 2:44
yeah, that was- And chicken tenders- And very good food, yeah... and Bloody Caesars. Yep, that worked out well there. Uh, then we attempted to go to- Uh, The Coin... the Roman Coin- Mm...
• 2:54
but they weren't having any of it. Yeah, what the hell? Yeah, that was, yeah, I think, I, and I'll say that's exception, not rule, but- Well, speaking of, speaking of bars- Again-... 'cause we are speaking of bars...
• 3:05
check me out... uh- [laughs]... your, your favorite downtown Juneau and Water location got best happy hour in Milwaukee. Did you see that at, yeah, Shepherd Express? Uh, McGillicuddy's? No, Duke's.
• 3:14
[laughs] The, the- From who? From She- Shepherd Express. Wow. Way to go. Buy, buy another ad. Oh, yeah. No, right? No, no. Or, or just, yeah, yeah, feed the bot, whatever. But you have to, you have to- Yeah.
• 3:30
[laughs] I, okay, come on. It's like I can't be- Well, you, no, you can't fight it at all... no, it's like best place to rent scaffolding, and there's only one place in the city, so. Yeah. Right.
• 3:37
But no, this is actually bars, so whatever. Well, and pr- a- I, I shit you not, pragmatically, yes. It- Has it been good... Rascals, Duke's, Scooter's has always been the- They still have the dollar-... the best, yeah...
• 3:48
tapper- Best happy hour... till 7:00 PM or something. Da, da, da, da. And if you just like sit there and, uh, distract bartender during a pour, you get a little bit more. Yeah, I see. I see.
• 3:57
[laughs] Look, look, a blue car. Anyway, yeah, yeah, that, so then, uh, then we got to Bremen though, and they were open, and they were at least semi-attentive on the- Yeah, not at first... serving.
• 4:09
I thought they were pretty- Yeah, they were attentive- They lost it... but at first there was, [laughs] there was a moment where I'm going like, "You gotta be kidding me." To, to- You gotta be kidding.
• 4:17
[laughs] I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, "Wow." No, 'cause I, the, at the place before I'm like, "I'm not gonna say shit until somebody else says shit." It was a long- I mean, I was- Well, I was-...
• 4:26
I had money out, and I'm like, it's not like I'm not looking like I'm ready to- Right, and there was four people- Waiting for a beverage...
• 4:31
standing around their that had just come in from outside with coats on and stuff, and I thought- So I didn't wanna say anything until somebody else said something.
• 4:37
I just wanted him- I think, I think Craig Khan said something Yeah. I, it was not- Or just mentioned something and just enough to open the floodgate, "Okay, yeah, yeah, fuck it, let's go."
• 4:44
[laughs] No, yeah, I said let's go, yeah. He was- But what I was thinking was all I wanted was him just to say, "Hey, guys- Yeah... I'll be a minute." I'll be a minute. That's it. That's all you had to do. I'll be fine.
• 4:51
That's the easiest job in the world. Be right with you. Put somebody off until you can get to them, and then ignore them for a little while longer and get your shit done. You know what really grinds my gears?
• 4:59
[laughs] I'll tell you. This fucking grinds my goddamn gears. [laughs] Yeah. Oh, shit. I don't know. Roman Coin's off my list of- Yeah...
• 5:09
we, we used to, we stopped there- Eh, that's, that's what I'm saying It's hit or miss though. I, it's- It's usually bad there... exception, I'll say it's exception, not pattern. Right. We've used it as- So...
• 5:16
for Steel Is Real a few times- Yep, exactly... 'cause it's a nice handy spot. Yep. Yep. So yeah, yeah. Don't, you know, don't be so declarative. D- that's why I'm giving it 11. Every, always, and forever.
• 5:27
Always and forever. We will never, ever, ever set foot in there again. [laughs] Bullshit. I know. It's, it is- Fuck that noise...
• 5:32
it's- I'm not even that declarative of the Duke, my fucking fatwa with Duke's, Scooter's, and Rascals. Bullshit. [laughs] Well, now that, yeah, now that Todd's not there you don't have to worry as much. Or care. Or care.
• 5:43
[laughs] Uh, and then you guys, you both went home from Brem, right? I, in fact, went home from Brem 'cause I was- Yes... asked to come home from my wife. So was it snowing when you were on your way home yet?
• 5:55
It was lightly flurry-ing. Yeah, it was at the beginning. 'Cause I, I stayed out long enough to actually have some snow, so it was pretty cool. I saw the pic, and I was just like, I'm like, "I, hmm, hmm."
• 6:02
I'm glad I could, I could not have made it that long. Oh, no, no, I- Yeah, I think it was like 6:00 or something. It wasn't that late. I, I got a nice nap in. It wa- it was dark out though- Oh, yeah... I know that.
• 6:11
I got a nice power nap in. It was good. Um, yes, according to the old, uh, wisey, da, da, da, da, da, I, um-[laughs] This is JK's watch, by the way...
• 6:21
that, that evening into the next day, I think I was at the, nudging up on the 13 hours of sleep. [laughs] Nice. [laughs] Speaking, speaking of- I was like, yeah, I think I got home about- Oh... 6:00 PM and out. Yeah.
• 6:36
I had, I had a, I had a nice one. And then, uh, come to around midnight-ish for... Uh, let's just knock half back. Da, da, da, da, da, da, da.
• 6:44
[laughs] Spe- speaking of Wise, it, it brings up one of the topics in the show notes tonight- Huh?... and that is, what is art? What is art? Oh, is that what we're looking at from your Wise camera? We, yeah. Art. Arts.
• 6:56
This is my Wise camera, which- Just so everybody, and so people know what we're talking about, Wise are- Yeah... Wise is a company, W-I-S-E, that makes pretty kickass, very inexpensive electronic gear.
• 7:06
So on New Year's Day, my neighbor started digging a hole in the front- Yeah. [laughs]... of his house. Oh, this... Oh, shit. Oh, all right.
• 7:12
Um, and slowly it became what he said was a fence, which didn't look anything like a fence. Oh, Blair Witch. Yeah, but- And he has been slowly working on it, um, sometime between the hours of 2:00 AM and 6:00 AM.
• 7:26
Is that time lapse there, or is that in real time? Um, that's real time right now. Okay. [laughs] Oh, no, no. Oh, that... [laughs] I'm like, no, he's gonna put up the, uh, you know, uh- Oh, what is it? But it... Yeah.
• 7:36
Oh, I haven't played damn Dungeons and Dragons in a while. So- [laughs] Yeah. I have a gentleman next door that is either troubled or drugged, and- Yes. Or both. Or both, yeah. Or, well, yeah.
• 7:49
Oh, no, and I'm, it's- Uh, Greg, you've seen more of this man than I have. Who's Greg? I- Sven. Sven's here. Geez, Sven. We got Sven, we got JK. Hi, everybody. We got Tony. Yeah.
• 7:57
This Greg guy, I don't know who this guy is. [laughs] We're working from behind. So Sven, you've seen more of this gentleman than I have. That is not well. [laughs] I guess that's kinda true.
• 8:06
We talked about this before, and we're not gonna rehash- Yes... old dick sightings. Uh, uh, I... [sighs] Yeah. I, he's been keeping my family up. It actually wasn't the full penis, it was just ball sacks.
• 8:17
Yeah, ball sacks. Which were- That's just as bad... grim. Um- Oh, wait, I do recall this. But yeah. It was during the 24. Sam- Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah... made...
• 8:24
First of all, Sam saw it first, and then he made this noise, and I looked over there and I'm like, "Ah. Why did you have to do that? I never would've seen that [laughs] if- Which one? Which Sam? Sam. [laughs] Big Sam.
• 8:35
Sam. Yes. Strong Sam. Who I believe now is, uh, heading south, right? I... As a matter of fact, this is kind of entertaining, and not for him, because the truck he was supposed to take, not available.
• 8:47
So he spent the day, Sunday, in, at home, loaded... I got a picture of him, I can throw it in the lo- show notes, of him- In the laundry? Were you gonna say laundry?... um, it's a, it's a, uh- [laughs] Throw it...
• 9:00
U-Haul box truck- Fuck yeah... with just his motorcycle strapped in it, and he was trying to get to Albuquerque last night. Okay. Right on. Well, yeah, I mean, he's...
• 9:09
I don't how- He's, he's been pinging the governor [laughs] for, like, two days straight. Well, he's ambitious. Yeah. But, uh, he's, so he's, this plan is to go all the way to the tip of South America.
• 9:19
He's number one on Duolingo for Spanish as an American. Speak- you know, learning Spanish. What? What, what? Oh, is that like, uh- Duolingo's a, is a language app. Duolingo? Duolingo. [laughs] I'm like- Duolingo.
• 9:31
Kinda like, uh, Babbel or Babel? Yeah, I think it's something like that. You know what?
• 9:35
I've spent about a solid three weeks, at least three, four minutes a day, on that thing, and it just, I don't know shit about Spanish. Oh. [laughs] Okay, all you have to do- I think he's, I think he's gonna be okay...
• 9:47
all you gotta- I told him to call in... if you're gonna... Well, I'm just gonna say, if you wanna play long game, study Latin. Boom, boom, boom.
• 9:56
You can go to any place with, that has a Romance-based language, and you'll get it, kinda. Kinda sorta. You'll get it. Language lessons with JK. From, with JK.
• 10:08
Speaking of J- Well, so I saw, uh, James before I came to the show tonight, and- How's he doing? Well, he's- He sounded bummed out. I think he's getting better now. Okay.
• 10:17
He's getting some work again, and things are kinda looking up. And, you know, you get- The subtle comma...
• 10:21
you get s- so you get these, you know, big projects done, and then y- while you were doing that big project, you really didn't do jack shit to get another one. Yeah. So you're like- Right...
• 10:28
you have kinda that rollercoaster effect, so I have an idea. That's the way a contractor works. Well, one without a salesperson, yeah. You gotta have somebody to get the, the leads and- The leads... whatever, whatever.
• 10:39
The Glengarry leads. Oh, fuck. [laughs] Oh, shit. You know what I don't have? I don't have a freaking, uh, I don't have- Ding, ding, ding, ding, ding... I gotta find a bell.
• 10:46
Hey, while, while I look for the bell- Radio silence... I, we, JK and I did a little quick thing down at the, uh, Polar Plunge on a new, uh, kinda field recorder kind of an idea. It's super small. It's a road thing.
• 11:00
Wow, it is really cool. That's the whole unit? It, well, y- yes. It looks- But this is normally meant to be worn on your personage.
• 11:06
It look, yeah, it's trans- And it has a tran- it's, so this is a transmitter, and it goes to a receiver that would be on your camera. Speaks directly into the flower.
• 11:12
But it also, you can also speak directly into the microphone. Right into the flower. Oh, I was gonna buy this yesterday.
• 11:18
So we did this thing down there, so, uh, we'll just, we'll take a quick break while we, while I figure out where the bell is, and then, uh- We'll be back...
• 11:25
you know, then, then, you know, then, you know, then we'll come back. Yeah. All right. Yeah. Down, and down, and down. That's what that... And down. See you on the other side.
• 11:36
[laughs] [wind blows] [water splashes] Pretty good down here. Hey, everybody, Sven down here at the Polar Plunge with JK Livin. Hi. How's it going, JK?
• 11:43
What do, what do you think of the, uh, Polar Plunge, uh, turnout this year? A zesty turnout for a zesty 20 mile an hour breeze coming from the north directly in my face. Yeah, it's quite, uh, blustery out there.
• 11:54
I'm definitely dressed for riding as, not as much standing around on the, on the Mound of Despair. [laughs] I'm fac- facing south. I c- I'm, I'm just perfect facing south. Hey, this is much fucking better.
• 12:02
[laughs] Turn, turning around is a good plan. Oh, look at that. Dave's got some, uh, some, uh, hot buttered rum over there. Jeff Brew. Jeff Brew. Hot buttered rum. Uh, we got, uh- Sponsor... we got Jeff Scanlon.
• 12:14
We got, uh, Mr. Dave Zwart, Greg Hahn. It's, uh, it's a beautiful day in the wind here. Oh, look at the steam coming off of that hot buttered...
• 12:23
This is our man on the street podcast interview Hanging out on Fat Bike Mound down here at Bradford Beach. [laughs] Right on. Looking for the ever-present Lloyd Seawright. Awesome, thank you.
• 12:33
Haven't sa- haven't seen him yet, but, uh, I'm sure we'll have a Lloyd sighting here shortly. It's more of a sonic adventure. Ooh, that's some tasty brew right there. Oh, it's really something.
• 12:42
Are we at the top of the hill already? Ah. [laughs] Okay, here's your Cubs. Top of the mound. The unused- Yeah... unabused. Beautiful. Happy New Year. Cheers. Happy New Year. Oh, there comes Tony Burger. Tony Burger.
• 12:55
Burger Tony. Where, where, where'd Tony Burger go? Hey, hey, Tony Burger, third, third, uh, third host on the podcast show. Tony, how's your ride on this fine New Year's Day? Uh, tired. I need air. In your lungs?
• 13:10
And my wheels. A- and my tires. [laughs] Hold on, don't move your bike, I'm gonna put my hot buttered rum... Oh, no, that's not a good idea. I gotta put it down so I can put my glove back on. Right.
• 13:23
Now that's gonna get blown over now. Oh, geez. [laughs] Now it's gonna be on the ground and get sanded. This is so much more visual than- [laughs] All right. This is Sven checking out for now.
• 13:35
Well, that was pretty fucking interesting. Seemed pretty quick. And we're back. Also- But the audio quality was- I'd like to... Well, I haven't listened to it yet, [laughs] so I'm waiting to see if- Damn it, dude...
• 13:46
I did do it- What the hell? You're not, uh, you get the motions. You, you're- Say it again... you're letting- Say, say, say it one more motherfucking time. [laughs] Well, no, you're letting...
• 13:57
You're going, "Hey, look behind the curtain." Say it again. I can finally edit a show. I have to put this in there anyway. [laughs] Hey, where are we? Um, where the hell are we? Milwaukee- What the hell's happening?...
• 14:09
Podcast MK Studio or something. That's what we're at. Yeah, the... it's still unfinished, but, but mostly progressing in a positive direction, except for the leaky ass roof- All right...
• 14:21
up there, which today it's- Is that close to a top of the hill? Is it? Oh, yeah, we're up by the roof. [bell rings] Jesus H Christ, that was like a tooth pull. [laughs] Thanks, JK, for that push.
• 14:32
JK, JK cannot wait to, uh- No, no, he said it-... to test... like three times, and I'm like, "Really? You're not pi- I, I know... you're not picking up and, uh..." Hey, I found a thing. Where are we? I found a deal.
• 14:42
Yeah, you found four damn bells- Bells... that you didn't ring. [laughs] I found this thing before. Oh, yeah, that. So- [laughs] There's the... Oh, there's the reason for every... Yes. Okay.
• 14:53
Well, it's kind of a pipe-looking pipe in some sort of way. But look at it, here's the dumbest thing about this. I wish people could see this. It's corn cob-y. That doesn't sit right. It doesn't stand up. It does not...
• 15:03
It doesn't stand up. That is- That's kinda weird... yeah, kinda dumb in a- Yeah... weird way. All right, so show beer. Hey. Oh. Hey, hey, hey. Wow. So, um- She's poppy... I believe we've had this once before. Have we?
• 15:14
I, I wasn't sure. My daughter- Yeah. No, I think-... uh, Total Win- Total Wine & More apparently is what they call it now. Uh, that's where she works, and she got me a couple of six-packs of beer.
• 15:23
We did already siphon off the Foggy Geezer- Nice... 'cause we've had that several times. That's a great beer. So we, we had that down at the, uh, the Polar Plunge.
• 15:30
But this is Door County Brewing's Pallet Jack Cruiser, which, you know, the art is kinda, kinda catchy, I guess. Mm-hmm. And if you've never- That's actually a guy in a pallet jack...
• 15:41
yeah, if you've never cruised on a pallet jack, you don't know what it's like, man. It's awesome. Is it better than a forklift?
• 15:47
It's, it's faster and it- With like eight guys hanging off the side of it and it tipping over and stuff? It's more... A forklift's powered, though. This, you're using your foot. It's like- I know. This is like-...
• 15:55
it's like a skateboard with a granny bar. Yeah... we got one right outside, if you wanna burn around the... Uh, we got a lot of space here. We could do laps around the, uh...
• 16:02
We, there's a lady up on this, on the second floor with us here who does aerial work, kinda sorta Cirque du Soleil-ish. Wow. And she has her whole area enclosed with black stuff, the black, like, you know, curtains.
• 16:13
Yeah. So we could just do laps around that thing- Be awesome... on the pallet jack. More fun on a longboard. You just said pallet jack. Well, I mean, I would- I got you a pallet jack. Okay.
• 16:22
I'll do it on a pallet jack right now. This thing long beer, board beer. It's pallet jack beer. I do have, I haven't...
• 16:27
I got, I'm thinking about getting new trucks and wheels for that, that skateboard Powell Peralta deck I got. Kickflip. I have some- You know, I'm gonna- I just, I have-... kickflip... the old thing, but- Ladies love-...
• 16:37
it's not that great... ladies love the Airwalk. I'm just saying. Airwalks were- I might have another- All right. So Pallet Jack is a session IPA. Only 4.7%. No doubt. Wow, I was not aware of that.
• 16:49
It does not- It tastes-... taste like a session at all... yeah, yeah. It tastes heavy ah. [burps] Excuse me. Oh, yeah, that was a solid belch, and it does taste pretty, uh... It tastes like it... I would not put it at...
• 17:02
It's good. Four, yeah. Yeah. And I'm not a big fan of Door County either. What's PBR? Three- PBR's like 4.2. Yeah. Yeah. Something or, or, or- Or something. When the days- Yeah, Door County's okay for me...
• 17:11
when the days are warm and the coolers are stocked, you might catch one of us cruising down County F atop a vehicle that hasn't, was never meant for the purpose.
• 17:21
Super easy going and drinkable, blahbity, blahbity, blah, et cetera, et cetera. I wonder if they really do that. Azacca and Citra hops. Keep Wisconsin beard. Maybe- Uh-ha-ha. Ooh, that's nice...
• 17:31
maybe we should take a trip up there and see if they really do race these on a ride, cruise on this highway, 'cause I would totally- Oh, it's in Sheboygan. She- in Sheboygan County Brewing Company.
• 17:42
I thought they were up on, I thought they were in Fish Creek. Well, I'm just reading the- Sheboygan? All right. Ooh, we got a QR code. Don't use those. Uh, apparently they can infect your shit.
• 17:52
Oh, my God, that's why my testicles are so- Speaking of infecting-... humongous right now. [laughs] Speaking of infecting our shit. [laughs] Uh, Big Sexy called before, but he was only... Oh, shit, he was on the...
• 18:02
[laughs] Wow, he was on, he was on the horn a lot longer than I, uh- Uh-oh... uh, he was on there a lot longer than I thought. Call back. Let's see if he's gonna answer the phone. We are dialing Big Sexy now.
• 18:16
[laughs] I don't know how this works. I, we've called out before, but it's been an awful long time, so I'm not sure. Oh, yeah, you know what? Nope, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope. That's working.
• 18:26
I thought we'd hear the phone ringing Well, at least he'll see we, we called, and then he can call back if that's what he wants to do. You have- Oh! [laughs] Hell.
• 18:38
When you have finished recording, you may hang up or press one- [laughs] Oh, for fuck's sake... for more options. [beeping] I don't know what... Why did that happen? What's that doing? Man. Is everyone here? They...
• 18:47
Oh, you know what? [laughs] Are you leaving a voicemail for Big Sexy? I don't know. I t- I thought maybe I ended the show. I don't know. It's just- Oh, Big Sexy. No, it doesn't say end show. Uh, what's this?
• 18:58
What's this button here? Let's see. I don't know. This is why you don't just- Nope, that's not it. I don't know what's going on... like, figure out what's in the bottom of your pocket and go like, "Ooh, that looks tasty.
• 19:09
Gulp." [laughs] I, I, I don't know why the, the show recording- This is what happens when you gulp... dual channel, I don't know why that stopped, but I have no idea why that stopped. [laughs] Oh, he... Okay, wait.
• 19:22
So yeah, so we got that going for us. Well, happy New Year, everybody. Yeah. Yeah, happy New Year. Oh, yeah, here he is. Happy New Year, motherfuckers. Big Sexy.
• 19:32
He should be in stereo, 'cause they have him on twice somehow. I don't know. It's the same phone number with two things. How very Ocasic. No, this is... Hey, Big Sexy. Can you hear me? Oh yeah, we can hear you. Finally.
• 19:42
We just, we were just ignoring you for 10 minutes, apparently. [laughs] I don't know why I thought [laughs]... I was like, I thought it was only a minute. It was like 10 minutes.
• 19:48
How, how is everybody, you drunk buffoons? Drunk. Yeah, no, we're, um, I don't know, pretty good. I didn't have that many beers today, yet. Uh, they're still coming. I'll tell you what, Houston was a bitch.
• 20:02
Are you, uh, out of Texas finally? Um, I'm, uh, I'm gonna be out of... Uh, I will be in Louisiana by Saturday. Fair enough. I might be there by Friday- That's no-... but I'll definitely be there by Saturday. All right.
• 20:16
[laughs] That's good. Get out of that heat. Sweet Louisiana. Yeah. I always said- Anything but the heat...
• 20:23
you, you pick up, you pick up the fiddle and you put down the bow, you pick up your shoes and you throw 'em on the floor. Dance in the middle of the morning night, Louisiana Saturday night.
• 20:32
[singing] Bow, bow, bow, boom-dicka, dicka-dicka-dicka-dicka. Boom, bow, bow, bow, boom-dicka. Or, or some such. I'm pretty... I'm mostly excited for, I'm mostly excited for the beer to go down. The beer? Um,
• 20:46
beer, beer is really expensive in Texas. Depends on what gas station you stop at. Do they have- Oh. Don't you just buy the Lone Star and be done with it? It's the simplest way, right?
• 20:56
Well, right, the, but the Lone Star could be $8.99 to $5.99. It depends on where you stop. Holy mackerel. What about Milwaukee's Best? Do they have that- I mean-... down there?
• 21:04
'Cause [laughs] that's usually the cheapest up- Say what? Milwaukee's Best.
• 21:09
That is- A pot of cow must be like- Yeah, yeah, that's, that's, that's cheap, that's cheap as fuck, but I don't want the headache and the, uh- Right... and the ass ache the next day. Copy that. I, I, I feel you.
• 21:21
But yeah, that was... I, we used to do like a 30-pack of that a day at my old house with a couple of roommates. It's like- Of course... yeah, that thing, that thing's not gonna last a, the night.
• 21:31
But that's when you, you, when, when you're, when you're, you're chugging down 30, 30-packs of Milwaukee's Best and eating garbage, and you got the next day to, to just feel like crap and,
• 21:44
uh, and but I'm, I'm on, I'm on heather, man. I can't, I, I can't, uh- Yeah, you don't want, you don't want Milwaukee's Blast. [laughs] Yeah, right? Yeah, right? Yeah, you gotta- Right?...
• 21:53
well, I'm- I mean, I mean, I've got a, I've got a pack of baby wipes, but, but I mean, come on, man. So- Science can only go so far. [laughs] How, how much does a five-gallon bucket actually weigh?
• 22:02
Because, you know, you might need one. [laughs] So when, what- Oh. So when do you plan on getting back home finally? The, I, I think, um, and it has been,
• 22:15
uh, a reality to me for a couple of weeks now, and I, and I, I, I don't have a home. Of course, I have New Orleans, Tampa, Minneapolis, River West. I mean, I, I, I would consider all, uh, and Merrill.
• 22:31
I would consider all those places home. You have reached maximum time permitted for recording your message. If you are satisfied with your message- We just- Oh, I know what that was... deleted your message.
• 22:38
Now I finally get it. To listen to your message, press two. To erase and re-record, press three. Okay, nice lady. Can we let, uh, can we let Big Sexy talk now? Yes, we can.
• 22:46
I think what happened was- I interrupted, but I got- You have reached the maximum time permitted for recording your message. Oh, for fuck's sake. Oh my God, it's gonna repeat it.
• 22:51
See, I don't know which one to do, though. If you are satisfied with your message- This is funny... press one. To listen to your message- Hang on... press two. To erase and re-record- We're, we're- Hang on just a sec...
• 22:58
press three. We're hanging out in Greg's voicemail. This is like Hackers. Well, I think what happened was- Are you still there? Are you still there? You have reached the maximum time permitted for recording your message.
• 23:07
But I don't know which one to drop. Oh, man. If you are satisfied with your message- Just give it a second. This'll be fun. Give it a second... press two. To erase and re-record- We have to leave this in-...
• 23:14
press three... there's a tremor in the matrix... this has to stay in this podcast. Just give it a sec. So what happened, I think, was- We're sorry you're having trouble.
• 23:21
[laughs] I know that Max Headroom is having trouble. I'm having trouble. So what happened was I think- This is-... you were calling in at the same time I was calling you back.
• 23:29
So I got your voicemail, and then we're talking to you, but that line was still open. And I'm like, "What the...?" That's why I saw your number on there twice, and I'm like, "I don't know what's going on here."
• 23:38
Anyway, now we do know- Yo... what's going on, and, and that just extended our show by like a minute and a half. So thank God for small favors. [laughs] Hey, hey. And, uh, da, da. No, but yeah, I don't know.
• 23:49
Um, I'm, I'm not, uh, very, uh, optimistic about my, uh, about my stay in New Orleans. I, um, I, and I know I've got a place to stay, and I'm gonna see my friends, I'm gonna see my family.
• 24:03
I'm gonna, you know, have as much fun as I can, but I don't know if I'm gonna stay there very long. I think I'm gonna, um, I think I'm gonna, uh, just kinda maybe dip down to Florida, see my mom for a minute, and then,
• 24:18
and then kinda head up towards, uh, towards the Midwest way. I, I just, I don't know. Uh, with COVID, the, the way it's going right now and all that, I just, it seems like- If it ain't broken, don't fix it.
• 24:32
[laughs] Right? Well, Santa Claus did- I mean, I'm not, you know-... Santa Claus brought COVID to my house this year... I'm not suffering That was very nice of him I'm, I'm, I'm not suffering out here on the road.
• 24:42
I'm, I'm actually having a really good job. I'm meeting some awesome people. I, I'll tell you what, Texas has been absolutely awesome to me. Mm.
• 24:52
I mean, there was a couple of times in, in Northeast Houston where I, I was like, "What the fuck is wrong with this state?" Because there's like no bike lane, no shoulder, no, no place to walk, no sidewalks, no nothing.
• 25:06
Right? Like California. Yeah. And, uh, but other than that, everything has just been fucking wonderful. And I'm, and, and, you know, and I'm just like, you know what?
• 25:15
What's, what the hell, you know, what the hell am I gonna do in New Orleans besides see a couple people? Like, you know, I'll, I'll work with, uh, I got a friend I, a couple friends I owe yard work.
• 25:26
You know, I'll do some yard work on, on th- on their properties and, and, uh, visit them and, and blah, blah, blah, and we'll have some good times. We'll have some good eats. We'll have some good drinks with it.
• 25:37
I don't see any reason for me to stop this anytime soon. Right on. Right on. Was there any, uh, talk of, uh, Texas seceding from the union down there? [laughs] Well, there certainly has been in the past.
• 25:51
I'm sorry, I- 'Cause- Any travel plans this- Let, let 'em, let 'em. [laughs] Al, about T- uh, Texas seceding, was there any kind of buzz about that? They wanna join Mexico or be their own country again or something?
• 26:01
Well, I, I haven't. That's- I haven't. I, I, no, no one, no one has said anything to me about that. Fair enough. Fair enough. All right, so now, so it's- Just, just curious...
• 26:10
so, so it's still an underground movement then. [laughs] Well, right, or it's just some douchebag on the internet fucking, fucking, uh- Many douchebags... getting people to talk about it.
• 26:22
Yeah, mostly He, and, and he's probably in New Hampshire somewhere. Yeah, right? And that doesn't know anything about the history of the state or anything and, or how good a time you had there. Right. Right.
• 26:30
It's like that these days. Like- [laughs] Honest to fucking God...
• 26:33
somebody will be, somebody will be, like, trolling a state and, uh, th- and they're, like, miles and miles away, and, or states and states away, just trying to start trouble. Yep.
• 26:45
And it's like, what the fuck is wrong with you people, man? They o- Yeah, Dave Lynch... they, you know- Well, at least you feel-... all, all you wanna, all you wanna do is start trouble...
• 26:55
bigger and better about yourself It's like, oh, yeah. Or, oh, yeah, the, the lady that, that pulled a gun and kicked a pregnant woman in the, in the belly
• 27:03
because they wouldn't sell her one hush puppy at Long John Silver's. They had to sell her two, and she lost her fucking mind and fucking pulled a gun and kicked a fucking pregnant woman in the belly because, what?
• 27:17
Because you had to buy two hush puppies instead of just one? What the fuck is wrong with you? It's called the, it's the numbing of the moral sense. Yeah, that's already long past. Yeah.
• 27:30
So- Yeah, yeah, I mean, but don't get me wrong. I'm, I'm not trying to turn your, uh, your, uh, fat, fat tire bike show into, like, a political forum, am I? [laughs] Mm. You know, it's, it's like, it's, like,
• 27:41
so many people are just, like, are just starting shit. Yep. It, it, it, it pisses me off, and I'm, and I'm out here promoting a positive mental attitude.
• 27:52
Like, oh, yeah, no, I'm living off of this tricycle, and everything I own is right here in this basket, but I'm li- I'm doing great. How are you? You know?
• 28:03
And I'm n- I, I don't, uh, I don't see how, why we got to g- wh- why we gotta get negative. That's all cell phones' fault, basically. Doesn't make any sense to me.
• 28:11
If it weren't for cell phones, there would be no instant, um, capturing of content, so it, I blame it on cell phones. If it weren't for good looking.
• 28:19
[laughs] Right, and, uh, and it, it, and back, back in 1983, we would've, we would've just been finding out about those Kentucky, the Kentucky and, uh, Tennessee, uh, slash Arkansas, Missouri tornadoes.
• 28:33
We would've just been finding out about that now. Right. Yeah, there's, there's goods and bads. And, and, you know, so we're find- we're finding things out so much faster because we have so much communication.
• 28:45
I just hope transportation gets that much faster in the future because I would love to beam myself to River West real quick and- [laughs]... hang out with y'all, have a couple shots of Jagermeister- Bloop, bloop...
• 28:55
and get myself somewhere warm. As long as you're actually accurate enough to get indoors somewhere, yeah, you could, uh, you could do that. All right, man.
• 29:02
Well, um, so I wanna keep up with when you're back home and if you go to Florida, 'cause I'm pl- I'm thinking about going down to Florida m- middle of February for a week or so.
• 29:14
And so if you happen to be down there- Yep... you know, maybe we'd cross paths.
• 29:18
I'm, I'm basically gonna be doing a little beach ride and staying with a buddy, but, you know, if you're in the area, well, we'll have a Jagermeister. I, I'll, I'll tell, I'll tell you what, Mardi Gras Day is,
• 29:31
uh, uh, either, either Ash Wednesday is March 1st or Mardi Gras Day is March 1st. I will be in New Orleans Mardi Gras Day, so- Oh, right on. Okay. 'Cause that has to be squared away. [laughs] Yeah, yeah. Like a Roman.
• 29:44
[laughs] Yeah. Yeah, no, that makes perfect sense. But anyway, we'll, uh, we'll keep in touch. We're gonna cut this thing off before, uh, I, I get thirsty again or something. I don't know what the hell we're doing.
• 29:53
Actually, here. [laughs] What, what, do you have something else you- Hey, don't forget, don't forget about our sponsor, Jagermeister. Yum, yum, yum, Jagermeister. Yeah, it's just, you can get that at Total Wine & More.
• 30:07
Yeah, you can. [laughs] E- And you can. Also another unpaid sponsor. Right, right. Damn. All right, Big Sexy, thank you for calling. We'll, we'll talk to you soon. Soon. Soon. Soon. Soon. Is that a word?
• 30:17
All right, love to all you guys. River West is the best. Thank you. Oops. You know, my, we- Damn, I fucking hit the button too quick again. I, you, it- We, we never talked about my other topic too. We haven't- Ryan...
• 30:27
we're, the show's not over yet, Tolbert. Oh, it's not over. Thank God. You were ready to like, like, "Well, blah, blah, blah, bye." Yeah, you were like, "I gotta go get a beer."
• 30:33
It's like, no, all you have to do is, like, hang up the phone Yeah, yeah, yeah. And then- So- Okay. Yeah... yeah. All right, just take a breath...
• 30:40
you're talking about baklava, that, uh- Bala- That, that, that tasty- Isn't it funny that there- The tasty Greek treat? [laughs] I mean, it's not baklava There is so much phyllo. That's baclava.
• 30:48
There's so much phyllo in it. Ba- balaclava. Balaclava. I have so many balaclavas. I wore one tonight just because- So I got-... of how funny this story is... I don't know if it was, I don't know if it was Schlabowski.
• 31:00
No. I think it was, it was either Schlabowski or another buddy, my buddy Dave Garwood.
• 31:04
I wrote a story about something, and I was trying to explain to people in the story, without a picture, what a, what a balaclava was, and I said, "It's basically a sock for your head with a hole in it for your face."
• 31:16
[laughs] It was like- That's a great way to describe it... and I think it was Garwood, he goes, "Oh, yeah. Yeah, every story needs a line like that that really just is, like, the line." Yeah.
• 31:26
That just- That was the line of the story. But yeah, whatever. That... So- Cuts through- So-... captures essence. D- yeah, right. [laughs] But a balaclava for my mouth would be good, too. I would- Or-... need a baklava.
• 31:38
What? [laughs] [laughs] Whatever, yeah, right? Don't get confused. Yes, a baklava is always delicious. I need a balaclava for my mouth. So other peoples are wearing them?
• 31:48
Apparently, it's all the rage now, like, fashion-wise. Fashion-wise. Everybody's wearing- So I don't know... balaclavas... is my, um, is my... What are you doing over there with all that racket you're making?
• 31:57
Oh, I'm, uh- Jesus... nothing. [laughs] Yeah, the spirit of James compels you. The spirit of James compels you. [laughs] Sorry, Moo Dad. Yeah, I don't know if it's a f- Yes, sir... I don't know if it's a full...
• 32:07
Is a, does a balaclava... So the, uh, 45 North one has a little visor on it, even. Yeah, I mean, the, it's- Yeah, there's-...
• 32:13
just a generic that it's fashionable, so I'm sure we'll see some 45 Norths out there and, and some- Oh... military surplus. Yeah.
• 32:20
I mean, we had a killer- Oh, if it's 45 North, it would have to be- Killer American military surplus one-... $149... you sold. It's just like- I... Do you have one of those? Yes, [laughs] of course I do.
• 32:28
I love that thing. Do you have one of those Chinese blue wool, like, full-on, like... Not that thing. They're incredible. Are they? I gotta get one, I gotta get one for JK if he doesn't have one.
• 32:36
It's like Chinese military- It-... and it would... It's like a dickie. Yeah, it's- Not a balaclava so much. No. Oh, I- It's got buttons for the face- Yeah, it's kickass, and this is wool...
• 32:46
uh, and it goes all, it goes really far down, like, onto your shoulders. Right, it would go under your coat. Yeah, under your coat. Yeah. Yeah. By the way, I still have a few of those left. It's kickass.
• 32:53
I have both mediums and larges. Oh, those are kickass. I love that. I'd, I'd s- I held, sell the j- shit out of those for, like, 20 bucks. You know, right where mine is.
• 32:59
So- I should probably put them, I should probably put them on the interwebs.
• 33:01
Yeah, yeah, and for, for 20 bucks especially, they're like- Speaking of horribly cold weather gear, I made my way down to Swinging Door, kinda retrace the steps of the New Year's Day ride
• 33:15
today with 30 mile an hour winds from the west-southwest, directly on the lake. How was the hotdog? It was... It sucked ass. Oh, it was awesome. Did you eat inside today? Terri- Yes. All right. Yes. Just checking.
• 33:29
Teriyaki slaw. Nice. Wow. Teriyaki-glazed hotdog with just coleslaw on top of it. It's just pretty rad. And then always have to have a Western on the side, just 'cause. [laughs] Yeah.
• 33:43
I feel bad for, I feel bad for the, the listener we have that's never been to Swinging Door. Yeah, well, when they come to Milwaukee, we'll take them there. Yeah, we would definitely take them. Don't worry about it.
• 33:52
I'll take anybody to Swinging Door. All right. Wednesdays are hunter day. Ah. Can I, can I, can I- [laughs] Can I, can I tell everybody goodbye now? All right, then. All right, then. All right.
• 34:01
Hey, everybody, that was show number 146. I'm not sure what you got out of it. Rest in peace, George- But-... from George's Pub. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Rest in peace, George. That's a bummer.
• 34:09
George did such great tours. He did. I don't know how many, what, the, uh, Pedal Tavern, sometimes there'd be like- He gave me beads... four or five, six of them in front of there at once.
• 34:17
Yeah, and he sang a- He gave me beads. Yeah. And he sang a mean tune. Yeah, yeah. And he had The Tinsel with, uh, Johnny Cash. That's why he had the ha ha ha, while singing That Way. And rest in peace, brother.
• 34:33
[laughs] All right. Everybody- Now hit the goddamn button. Okay, next week, for fuck's sake. I don't know. [upbeat music] Shit.
• 34:39
  [upbeat music]
