- 0:22Speaker 3: For a very long time, man, Like shit, since like
- 0:26Speaker 3: I think you and I met in twenty ten. Wow,
- 0:28Speaker 3: I introduced you on stage at the Wiz the Wiz tourter.
- 0:31Speaker 3: But I was already like a huge fan and already
- 0:34Speaker 3: kind of like diving into your world and like following
- 0:36Speaker 3: Ritz and shit, and so it was dope to be able.
- 0:38Speaker 1: To meet you finally. Yeah, for sure.
- 0:41Speaker 3: O G Trunk Music. It was when like I think,
- 0:43Speaker 3: just I wish was on the right fucking which was
- 0:46Speaker 3: a fucking great record, a remix with Ray Kwan.
- 0:49Speaker 1: Oh my god, shout out Taylor Gang. Shout to Taylor Gang. Yeah,
- 0:54Speaker 1: it's a fucking era, man, it was.
- 0:56Speaker 2: It was the you know, breaking bad basically.
- 1:01Speaker 3: Dude, Like seriously, like when I think about like the
- 1:04Speaker 3: best eras of hip hop I've been a part of
- 1:08Speaker 3: that is the era where it was like twenty like
- 1:11Speaker 3: nine twenty ten, the blog era, like still being excited
- 1:17Speaker 3: when people and people were just dropping free music with
- 1:20Speaker 3: like no like plan. It was just like what is
- 1:22Speaker 3: this free music? That are these z share links and
- 1:25Speaker 3: these media fire links, and you know, there was that
- 1:28Speaker 3: PIF and all that shit, and like you were like,
- 1:31Speaker 3: you're one of the goats of that era.
- 1:32Speaker 1: So, I mean, you've been through so.
- 1:34Speaker 2: Much, man, that's crazy.
- 1:36Speaker 1: Earlier I was talking to so Willpower, which will Power
- 1:42Speaker 1: produced Trump music and the legend and a shit, shitty
- 1:47Speaker 1: shit house in fucking the hood of gas in Alabama.
- 1:50Speaker 2: We did that record, but as far as like releasing music.
- 1:53Speaker 1: Speaking of that in particular, we fucking put a We
- 1:56Speaker 1: put pop the trunk out from from the apartment from
- 2:00Speaker 1: I was rooming his apartment to Twitter. That's how we
- 2:03Speaker 1: got that record going crazy. And we did it with
- 2:06Speaker 1: no permission. Actually we did it in spite of the
- 2:10Speaker 1: advice to not well because I was like, well, that's
- 2:14Speaker 1: got time. You were fully independent, right. I was with
- 2:18Speaker 1: Kawan Pray through even with KP and Ghetto Ghetto Vision,
- 2:20Speaker 1: but that was like more of a production deal. There
- 2:22Speaker 1: was no like, now this is before south By.
- 2:24Speaker 3: When you had everybody bidding on you and going crazy.
- 2:26Speaker 3: This was very early on.
- 2:28Speaker 1: So yeah, this was like that. That was the That
- 2:30Speaker 1: was the pivotal record that put the Internet on fire
- 2:33Speaker 1: and you know, got all the attention going. Then we
- 2:36Speaker 1: started doing shows and had moved off video.
- 2:39Speaker 2: Oh yeah for five grand with a five D and
- 2:41Speaker 2: no lights.
- 2:43Speaker 3: It's so crazy when you go back and watch that
- 2:44Speaker 3: video still. I watched it recently. It's it holds up.
- 2:49Speaker 3: Some of those videos they don't hold up, you know,
- 2:51Speaker 3: but that video holds up.
- 2:53Speaker 1: Yeah, definitely. It's like a it's like shook ones. You know,
- 2:55Speaker 1: it's got that for real, for real in the streets,
- 2:58Speaker 1: for real with the real people do when real shit
- 3:00Speaker 1: you know. Yeah, man, I mean it was just a
- 3:05Speaker 1: the stars aligned for that to happen.
- 3:08Speaker 3: Do you remember being featured on the hook of a
- 3:13Speaker 3: Slim Thug song but not getting the featured credit.
- 3:15Speaker 1: Yeah, I run it didn't say feature and yellow No,
- 3:19Speaker 1: I tell you, I like how so And then there
- 3:21Speaker 1: was mixing up the medicine by Joel's. People were using
- 3:23Speaker 1: you for hook hooks for a little bit. I went
- 3:26Speaker 1: to uh the Ozone Awards in Texas. I had already
- 3:29Speaker 1: done the Ozone Awards and uh with a mixtape and
- 3:33Speaker 1: with DJ Ideal called Stereo. We're just getting our feet wet,
- 3:37Speaker 1: you know, like trying ship doing things. That was my
- 3:42Speaker 1: cup in the way, but uh, it was Jim Johnson
- 3:44Speaker 1: and Jim Johnson and I both have this like affinity
- 3:47Speaker 1: for classic rock, and.
- 3:50Speaker 2: So I did he.
- 3:51Speaker 1: I was at at the Ozone Awards and shit got
- 3:54Speaker 1: crazy and I think it was Houston that sounds about right,
- 3:58Speaker 1: and uh it got weird. You know, there was shit happening,
- 4:04Speaker 1: beef happening, and ship and Jim was like, fuck this,
- 4:06Speaker 1: Let's go to this studio. I got a session booked
- 4:08Speaker 1: with Slim Thug, and uh, that is it.
- 4:15Speaker 2: Flock of Seagulls.
- 4:18Speaker 3: The original writ interpolation right, yeah, yeah, uh yeah, I.
- 4:23Speaker 1: Run the streets all night and day. So I cut
- 4:26Speaker 1: the vocals and I went back to Gadsten. I was
- 4:29Speaker 1: still fucking dumb, broke, still living like in the trap basically,
- 4:34Speaker 1: and I couldn't afford to make it to the video.
- 4:36Speaker 1: So Jim Johnson stood in and voiced over my part.
- 4:40Speaker 3: People who don't know Jim Johnson, this is the multi
- 4:43Speaker 3: platinum Lollipop by Lil Wayne. I mean, you just guys
- 4:46Speaker 3: got real fucking hit records, many legendary platinum producer.
- 4:50Speaker 1: Many, many, many hits. Yeah, from the trailer parks of Florida,
- 4:54Speaker 1: shout out Jim Johnson him, but yeah, he just he
- 4:58Speaker 1: saw a place for me in that, and uh so
- 5:01Speaker 1: we did it. But yeah, I remember walking around and
- 5:03Speaker 1: it was a smash with smash record. It was all
- 5:05Speaker 1: over the radio. Yeah, and I was just walking around
- 5:07Speaker 1: like that's me, that's me, that's me. No, that's literally me.
- 5:12Speaker 1: That's not They're like, nah, I'm like, dude, I run,
- 5:15Speaker 1: that's me. Look like I'll sing it for you.
- 5:16Speaker 2: Yeah, I'll seek it for you. But it spawned a
- 5:20Speaker 2: bunch of opportunities.
- 5:21Speaker 1: The next opportunity that came out for a short period,
- 5:24Speaker 1: I was the guy to go to for that, so
- 5:26Speaker 1: I redid uh Subterranean Blues by Bob Dylan for Joel
- 5:34Speaker 1: Santana mixing up the medicine and I was in the basement.
- 5:39Speaker 1: So it spawned out, and then it became like, oh,
- 5:41Speaker 1: I'm going to reach out to to this guy yellow Wolf.
- 5:45Speaker 1: He's got the rock hooks, some cool hooks, and and
- 5:49Speaker 1: then it spawned the relationship for Big Boy from Maltcast
- 5:52Speaker 1: hit me up and I was like, I was like,
- 5:54Speaker 1: big oh you were on I remember that was one
- 5:58Speaker 1: of your first big looks. Well, your DJ no DJ
- 6:01Speaker 1: started with he he was like, hey man, let me
- 6:03Speaker 1: get one of them rock hooks.
- 6:04Speaker 3: Because there was a few looks where I was like, oh,
- 6:07Speaker 3: people are starting to catch on now.
- 6:09Speaker 1: Yeah, I think I think it was the Big Boys shit.
- 6:11Speaker 3: And then I remember you sharing a record with it
- 6:15Speaker 3: It wasn't it wasn't it. You were on a record
- 6:17Speaker 3: with bud Bee early on. What was the record?
- 6:20Speaker 1: Uh around that time? Was it on your ship? Oh?
- 6:24Speaker 1: Good to Go? Good to Go, That's what I'm thinking of. Yeah, yeah, good,
- 6:28Speaker 1: that's your ship. That that was after uh that's after
- 6:32Speaker 1: all this stuff. Yeah yeah yeah yeah. And then yeah,
- 6:36Speaker 1: so I was like big please, I just want to
- 6:40Speaker 1: I need I need to wrap. I can. I actually
- 6:42Speaker 1: got verses, like I got something fun. I got verses
- 6:45Speaker 1: and he was playing beats. He's like what about this?
- 6:46Speaker 1: What about that? And when I heard your DJ no DJ,
- 6:49Speaker 1: he was like, man, now three thousand produced that. That's
- 6:53Speaker 1: that's a no go. I said, please, man, and he
- 6:57Speaker 1: gave me the track. He said, I'll give you a shot,
- 7:00Speaker 1: and I gave him like sixty eight bars, like just
- 7:02Speaker 1: non stop bars. So we ended up chopping those bars
- 7:05Speaker 1: and sharing versus throughout the song. That was the record here,
- 7:09Speaker 1: that was the one. That was the one he took me,
- 7:11Speaker 1: you know, took me to the BET Awards with him
- 7:13Speaker 1: and put me on stage for the first time in
- 7:15Speaker 1: front of camera.
- 7:16Speaker 2: So love you big podcast.
- 7:19Speaker 3: A legend, man. It's crazy around that time you because
- 7:27Speaker 3: when I think of nine oh wait hip hop, I'm thinking, like,
- 7:32Speaker 3: there was the year where it was you and Krit
- 7:34Speaker 3: were for Mixtape of the Year. I think it was
- 7:36Speaker 3: DJ Booth did their awards. I think you lost to Crit,
- 7:40Speaker 3: but I remember being like this is.
- 7:41Speaker 2: Like always lose to Crit.
- 7:45Speaker 1: But during that time, it was like so crazy because
- 7:47Speaker 1: what about that one train though that I really lose
- 7:49Speaker 1: to did not? No, you did not.
- 7:51Speaker 3: And also I'd also like to point out the piece
- 7:54Speaker 3: of Shit record where you Ritch and Crit was a
- 7:56Speaker 3: fucking legendary Yes.
- 7:58Speaker 1: Oh no, full of shit, full of shit, full of shit.
- 8:01Speaker 1: I'm full of full of shit. I should I Yeah,
- 8:05Speaker 1: my mama said I should have had brown eyes because
- 8:09Speaker 1: why I'm full of ship, full of shit on full
- 8:12Speaker 1: of shit.
- 8:13Speaker 3: But even then, like with the Wiz movement that was
- 8:15Speaker 3: going on, do you ever because you've had so many
- 8:20Speaker 3: errors of your career, but do you ever take the
- 8:23Speaker 3: time out to like truly reflect on like the stuff
- 8:26Speaker 3: you've been a part of.
- 8:28Speaker 1: Not really because I I'm like programmed next, next, like
- 8:35Speaker 1: what's next.
- 8:35Speaker 3: I think we all are that way, so at times
- 8:38Speaker 3: it's it's like you kind of got to just reflect
- 8:41Speaker 3: a little.
- 8:41Speaker 1: Like fuck, I mean, it piles up, and you know,
- 8:44Speaker 1: it's a I had a night actually where I got
- 8:49Speaker 1: a new place in Nashville and I had my buddy
- 8:52Speaker 1: Sam Lee over the tattoo guy, great guy, a little bro,
- 8:57Speaker 1: you know, and and he's like, we're playing all this
- 9:03Speaker 1: other music. He's like, yo, man, let's let's let's bump
- 9:05Speaker 1: through your discography. You know. I was like, and I
- 9:08Speaker 1: never ever do that. And after about an hour, I
- 9:14Speaker 1: like sat down on the couch and I was like,
- 9:19Speaker 1: holy shit, I'm yellow Wolf, Like what the fuck? You know?
- 9:22Speaker 2: It was like this.
- 9:23Speaker 1: I was like, it was like a it was scary, honestly,
- 9:26Speaker 1: the real to realize the amount of music and what
- 9:30Speaker 1: I've done over the years, you know, it was a
- 9:32Speaker 1: bit emotional. Man, I was like, fuck, man, We've I've
- 9:35Speaker 1: really put in work, man, Like we we've really been
- 9:37Speaker 1: out here for a minute, doing a long doing a
- 9:39Speaker 1: lot of shit. So uh but yeah, unless someone else
- 9:43Speaker 1: brings it to my attention, I don't I don't really
- 9:46Speaker 1: dig back because I'm just so focused on like what's
- 9:49Speaker 1: right now, which right now for me is war Story.
- 9:51Speaker 2: The double album is coming out in May.
- 9:54Speaker 3: Yeah, everything is very I mean, vintage blog era bars.
- 10:01Speaker 1: The beat is crazy, the videos fucking crazy. It's just
- 10:05Speaker 1: a rap video. You got fucking.
- 10:08Speaker 3: Legend, you got fucking Estevon in there, you got you
- 10:12Speaker 3: got fucking yeah, yeah, shout the Baldacci the face of
- 10:16Speaker 3: La fucking DJ Paul's And it's just a very like
- 10:20Speaker 3: i'd heard, like because I was talking to will Power
- 10:22Speaker 3: a bit, but I heard like you were like kind
- 10:24Speaker 3: of back honed in on scratching that itch again.
- 10:29Speaker 1: Why why is this? Why? Why? Now? Though?
- 10:31Speaker 2: Well, I did this rock and roll album with Shooter Jennings.
- 10:34Speaker 1: I was gonna bring that out, by the way, Yeah,
- 10:37Speaker 1: I'm a believer. Yeah yeah, bro listen people, sometimes why
- 10:43Speaker 1: is a fucking It's like it might be a perfect
- 10:46Speaker 1: rock album. We thought so, me and Jelly talk about
- 10:49Speaker 1: it all the time because we're like, this ship is
- 10:51Speaker 1: like the best version of like the old school rock
- 10:54Speaker 1: we like. But today, well that's what we we that's
- 10:58Speaker 1: what we set out to do. I mean, baby's fucking hard, bro,
- 11:01Speaker 1: thank you well. We great Schroman music too.
- 11:05Speaker 2: Oh yeah that album sometimes?
- 11:07Speaker 1: Why please, if you're a rock and roll even if
- 11:09Speaker 1: you're not a rock and roll fan, you should, you should,
- 11:12Speaker 1: you should bump down on that arena shit. It's arena shit.
- 11:16Speaker 1: I mean we you know, like Shooter and I have
- 11:19Speaker 1: been talking about doing a record for years. Didn't know
- 11:22Speaker 1: how we we're gonna do it, didn't know what we're
- 11:24Speaker 1: gonna make, honestly, but he sent me a SoundBite of
- 11:28Speaker 1: a guitar riff he made and it was during COVID.
- 11:32Speaker 1: So I had this little studio up under my stairs
- 11:35Speaker 1: and I recorded a vocal and sent it back to him,
- 11:38Speaker 1: and he called me immediately like, holy shit, dude, if
- 11:41Speaker 1: this is any indication of what we can do, we
- 11:46Speaker 1: have to make this happen. So we booked a session
- 11:50Speaker 1: at Sunset Sound and uh, two days before our first session,
- 11:58Speaker 1: George Floyd was murdered and we already had flights we
- 12:02Speaker 1: already had all these things set up, so we came
- 12:06Speaker 1: into l a hot you know that it was obviously
- 12:08Speaker 1: a wild time and so deuring the during the making
- 12:12Speaker 1: of that record, we were out marching. We were out
- 12:17Speaker 1: like we would take just a break and just go
- 12:19Speaker 1: walk for a few miles, you know, just supporting. And
- 12:24Speaker 1: but obviously the vibe was just so and intense. You know,
- 12:28Speaker 1: there's helicopters and and and you're in ls everywhere. You know,
- 12:32Speaker 1: I'm on Sunset Sunset sound man, all the Sunset Trip.
- 12:35Speaker 3: Yeah, the fucking protests were everywhere. I mean she was
- 12:37Speaker 3: active right outside the door.
- 12:38Speaker 1: Yeah, it was active, very you know, and so it did.
- 12:43Speaker 1: It created that part created all an intense emotional vibe,
- 12:47Speaker 1: and one record reflects that. Off that album in particular,
- 12:58Speaker 1: it's it's just a story of the neighborhood is going
- 13:01Speaker 1: to ship, you know, like everything is changing, and but
- 13:06Speaker 1: you know, like as far as like the record and
- 13:09Speaker 1: the vibe of of each song was, we just wanted
- 13:12Speaker 1: to do what we loved, like the ship that we
- 13:14Speaker 1: grew up listening to, the ship that we the rock
- 13:16Speaker 1: that we were inspired by, and each song just started happening.
- 13:22Speaker 1: We wrote and record of that entire album and that
- 13:25Speaker 1: in that week, That in a week. Yeah, it's crazy.
- 13:28Speaker 3: If anybody who hasn't heard this album just listen to
- 13:32Speaker 3: make me a believer and tell me it isn't meant
- 13:34Speaker 3: to be in a fucking That ship is like stadium
- 13:36Speaker 3: rock bro.
- 13:38Speaker 1: That you know, like what we we definitely we thought so.
- 13:43Speaker 1: I thought that that record. I thought that that album
- 13:46Speaker 1: was going to change my career forever. I was like,
- 13:52Speaker 1: because we thought that as well. I was like, Man,
- 13:55Speaker 1: this ship may really really go, and this may actually
- 14:00Speaker 1: people are going to forget that I was even a rapper.
- 14:03Speaker 1: That's how powerful I thought that record was. I was like, man,
- 14:05Speaker 1: they're gonna have to they'll dig back and discover pop
- 14:08Speaker 1: the trunk and they're going to scratch their head. They're
- 14:10Speaker 1: not going to even know. Well, as it turned out
- 14:14Speaker 1: like the you know, we and we got all these
- 14:16Speaker 1: crazy critical acclaims. You know, it played the played the
- 14:20Speaker 1: Grammy Museum and we were you know, considered for a
- 14:23Speaker 1: nomination and all those things, and it just kind of
- 14:31Speaker 1: I don't think that it had a moment. I don't
- 14:32Speaker 1: think that it for whatever reason, it didn't have the
- 14:34Speaker 1: moment we thought it was going to have. But we
- 14:36Speaker 1: did like legendary Ship. We played Rainbow Rooms fiftieth anniversary.
- 14:40Speaker 2: Which is crazy it played. We played the Viper Room.
- 14:42Speaker 1: We did some really cool ship with that opened up
- 14:44Speaker 1: for Leonard skinnerd like, yeah, we.
- 14:47Speaker 2: Did crazy ship with the record. But I think.
- 14:51Speaker 1: The the lack of what I considered I thought it
- 14:55Speaker 1: was a little underappreciated and under under worked.
- 15:01Speaker 3: I think a lot of it's that it's not you guys,
- 15:03Speaker 3: it's really the you know. No, it wasn't like I mean,
- 15:06Speaker 3: because I know it was worked to radio because I
- 15:08Speaker 3: remember the machine well, I remember seeing it on the
- 15:10Speaker 3: radio chart at rock. So I was like, oh, at
- 15:12Speaker 3: least they're working it to rock, you know, Like yeah,
- 15:14Speaker 3: but it's it's the machine.
- 15:16Speaker 1: Okay. It takes a lot of a lot of things
- 15:21Speaker 1: to make radio work. Let's just say that. And and
- 15:25Speaker 1: I wasn't willing. I was like, man, if it you know,
- 15:28Speaker 1: if it's not, if it's not doing what it's supposed
- 15:30Speaker 1: to be. Really on a campaign, bro, it's really a campaign. Well,
- 15:33Speaker 1: I'll tell you one thing that we did that we
- 15:35Speaker 1: reignited as a as a crew is we put a
- 15:39Speaker 1: quarter million dollars in wheat pasting across the world and
- 15:42Speaker 1: billboards and we tore s it up all over Paris, Australia, Japan,
- 15:48Speaker 1: like Canada, New Zealand, you know, like and that was impactful,
- 15:54Speaker 1: that had that had a real impact on people. I
- 15:56Speaker 1: got it. There's a photo of Paul Rosenberg taking a
- 15:59Speaker 1: selfie in front of the wheat paste in Paris.
- 16:02Speaker 3: You know, no people, I think people underestimate that Gorilla ships.
- 16:05Speaker 1: Too, they do. I don't.
- 16:07Speaker 2: But you know, keep sleeping, keep sucking shit works.
- 16:11Speaker 1: Well, I mean you were get back to what made
- 16:15Speaker 1: uh okay so okay? So reuniting with willpower. It's been,
- 16:19Speaker 1: it's been, it's been not too many years. But well,
- 16:22Speaker 1: when I tapped back in, like literally like when I say,
- 16:24Speaker 1: I compartmentalized those moments and so when I when I
- 16:28Speaker 1: dove into sometimes why that was that was my life
- 16:30Speaker 1: and my existence and I put all my energy into that.
- 16:35Speaker 1: But the frustration of the what I thought was the
- 16:40Speaker 1: under being underappreciated when you think.
- 16:42Speaker 3: This is our life change, this is going to change things,
- 16:44Speaker 3: and it maybe goes you know.
- 16:46Speaker 1: And it don't and it don't. It it definitely got
- 16:49Speaker 1: like artistic credibility. Sure, but it just made me like
- 16:56Speaker 1: tap back in to hip hop. And when I did
- 16:59Speaker 1: tap back in, I was like, nah, man, I have
- 17:05Speaker 1: something to say, I have something to do. It made
- 17:07Speaker 1: me so hungry for versus because I had spent so
- 17:11Speaker 1: much time training myself how to sing correctly, how to
- 17:14Speaker 1: deliver those rock and roll records the best that I could,
- 17:18Speaker 1: and I was so hyper focused on that that when
- 17:22Speaker 1: I pulled that spot out of my mind where I
- 17:28Speaker 1: do rap versus hip, I just got so hungry for
- 17:35Speaker 1: hip hop again. And so I talked to Malay. I
- 17:40Speaker 1: called Malay and I called Willpower, and I was like, man,
- 17:45Speaker 1: we need to get back together and do love story again,
- 17:50Speaker 1: but this time, let's call it war story because we've
- 17:54Speaker 1: been through it. And so I came out to Los
- 17:58Speaker 1: Angeles State at the Sunset Market. He Malay would feed
- 18:03Speaker 1: me bpms. For the most part, there was no beats.
- 18:06Speaker 1: It's pretty crazy, that's pretty crazy. He would send me like, Okay,
- 18:09Speaker 1: today's BPM eighty five. Yes, today's eighty five, here's a
- 18:13Speaker 1: click track. And I would write full songs and hooks
- 18:15Speaker 1: and everything, go into the studio at like two pm.
- 18:19Speaker 2: Cut my verses, cut the hooks and he'd.
- 18:21Speaker 1: Produce around it. That's the that's crazy.
- 18:23Speaker 2: Yeah, And people.
- 18:25Speaker 1: Who don't know that's like the opposite of how it
- 18:27Speaker 1: usually goes right. Yeah. I mean, if you're like hip hop, recording,
- 18:30Speaker 1: it's usually to a beat to a beat, you're you're
- 18:34Speaker 1: something exactly something to some kind of melody. But recording
- 18:37Speaker 1: it's with absolutely nothing. Like He's like, nah, man, you
- 18:39Speaker 1: make up a melody in your head, make up a concept,
- 18:42Speaker 1: make up a cadence, and bring it. And so I did,
- 18:45Speaker 1: and we did that for the whole album. And when
- 18:48Speaker 1: I cut that album, I was like, oh fuck. I
- 18:50Speaker 1: still hadn't worked with Willpower. So we cut a whole
- 18:53Speaker 1: album with Malay. I called Will. I said, man, you
- 18:56Speaker 1: got to come to Atlanta and I mean, you got
- 18:59Speaker 1: to come to Nashville and here this fucking record that
- 19:01Speaker 1: me and Malay did. It's bonkers. Your your work is
- 19:05Speaker 1: cut out for you. Because if we're gonna do what
- 19:08Speaker 1: I think we're gonna do, I think we're gonna to
- 19:10Speaker 1: hang you gotta you gotta go crazy.
- 19:13Speaker 2: And he did.
- 19:13Speaker 1: He went absolutely crazy, and we went to Atlanta and
- 19:17Speaker 1: cut that record. And when I had both the albums,
- 19:20Speaker 1: I was like, man, this is not. I can't blend
- 19:22Speaker 1: these two. This is two separate albums. But then I
- 19:24Speaker 1: didn't have time to put two of them out like separately,
- 19:31Speaker 1: so it's like, fuck it, let's just put out a
- 19:33Speaker 1: double album. So it's Trump Music Forever with will Power
- 19:36Speaker 1: and Michael Wayne with Malay all under All under a
- 19:39Speaker 1: War Story.
- 19:41Speaker 3: I look at like I always somehow will Power is back.
- 19:44Speaker 3: We got liquor, liquors, Liquors touchdown. I was gonna say,
- 19:49Speaker 3: willis coat. I always tell will Power on is it
- 19:54Speaker 3: Box Chevy four?
- 19:56Speaker 1: On which what's which one is on?
- 19:58Speaker 4: Uh?
- 19:58Speaker 1: Trump Music too?
- 20:00Speaker 5: Oh.
- 20:00Speaker 1: I got a surprise for the block Chevy fans, but
- 20:03Speaker 1: you is there. I got a big surprise for.
- 20:08Speaker 2: Bock Chevy fans on the War Story.
- 20:10Speaker 1: Bock Chevy eight is on War Story and crazy Man,
- 20:16Speaker 1: I'll tell you this. I have three of my close
- 20:19Speaker 1: friends and og Slamerican Killer my squad that were at
- 20:27Speaker 1: the Grammys American sen exactly. Yeah, he knows his ship. Well, okay,
- 20:33Speaker 1: fuck it, Killer, Mike, DJ Paul and Jelly Roll are
- 20:36Speaker 1: on this record, not on Box Chevy eight separately and
- 20:40Speaker 1: on different songs. So I'm not gonna tell you which
- 20:42Speaker 1: song they're on, but they're all three on there and
- 20:45Speaker 1: they were all at the Grammys. Dude, that was such
- 20:49Speaker 1: a moment man like like as a, as A, as
- 20:52Speaker 1: a friend and A and A and A and an
- 20:54Speaker 1: artist friend, like watching that, like my boys up there
- 20:58Speaker 1: getting it amazing, and look, we already had.
- 21:01Speaker 2: These records in the bag.
- 21:02Speaker 1: I was like, oh shit, it's funny.
- 21:05Speaker 3: I saw your story when you were watching I because
- 21:07Speaker 3: I was watching. I never watched the Grammys, but I
- 21:09Speaker 3: was watching them like you because I just I just
- 21:12Speaker 3: wanted to see if Jelly got new artists.
- 21:14Speaker 1: Right right right of course. So it was literally but
- 21:16Speaker 1: come on, Mike, Mike. But but it sucked that wasn't
- 21:20Speaker 1: on TV because by the time the show started on TV,
- 21:22Speaker 1: we already knew he won three and then I think
- 21:24Speaker 1: he was in He was a handcuffs by then. That
- 21:26Speaker 1: was incredible. I have been more pro I'm to sweep
- 21:29Speaker 1: three of them.
- 21:30Speaker 3: And then I just love the post like campaign he's
- 21:36Speaker 3: on right now going to the breakfast club talking his
- 21:38Speaker 3: ship like he made the best rap album of the year.
- 21:40Speaker 1: It's not even close. Him and I talked about it.
- 21:42Speaker 1: I was like, you're gonna get a Grammy for this
- 21:44Speaker 1: that's you know what and deservingly, deservingly come on, you
- 21:50Speaker 1: know and and it just goes back so far. Mike
- 21:54Speaker 1: was one of my very, very first cosns. I'm talking
- 21:57Speaker 1: about going back to kicking like way before, like when
- 22:00Speaker 1: I first got my first situation, a brief situation with
- 22:03Speaker 1: Columbia Records, Mike pulled up. Mike pulled up with when
- 22:07Speaker 1: I was working with Will Power and we did Sla
- 22:09Speaker 1: American Shit. Is the first time that I even mentioned Slamerican?
- 22:12Speaker 1: Was that record? Alum on YouTube?
- 22:14Speaker 2: I'm sure it is.
- 22:15Speaker 1: Everything's on fer I just had it on my phone forever.
- 22:18Speaker 1: Everything's on YouTube. I find shit of mine on YouTube.
- 22:20Speaker 1: I'm like, I'm I don't even how it's still there,
- 22:23Speaker 1: but yeah, everything ends up there. Yeah.
- 22:25Speaker 3: So for people who don't know it's American Shittisen was
- 22:27Speaker 3: a record that you and Killer Mike did, I don't know,
- 22:29Speaker 3: twelve years ago, fifteen years ago, I don't even know
- 22:31Speaker 3: how long ago.
- 22:31Speaker 1: Was in a fucking barn studio in Atlanta, Georgia. It's
- 22:35Speaker 1: not even there no more. They tore that motherfucker down.
- 22:37Speaker 1: It's like Atlantic Station now.
- 22:40Speaker 3: No, but it's it's definitely it's it's been cool to
- 22:42Speaker 3: see him and Jelly's Grammy night.
- 22:46Speaker 2: Was so awesome and Paul DJ Paul.
- 22:48Speaker 3: Yeah and Paul and Paul went in a Grammy. He
- 22:51Speaker 3: might fuck around with an E guy if he wants
- 22:53Speaker 3: to go do something.
- 22:53Speaker 1: I think we're going to. Man, we talked about to
- 22:56Speaker 1: score a play. Now that's what I'm saying. Please, he
- 22:59Speaker 1: could get an E guy for real. I want to
- 23:01Speaker 1: I want to see I want to see Memphis through
- 23:04Speaker 1: his eyes in a play and and and a series
- 23:08Speaker 1: for the Emmy. He deserves that, dude, Paul's the best.
- 23:11Speaker 1: So what are we drinking? Dad?
- 23:13Speaker 2: Slow Mafia, by the.
- 23:14Speaker 1: Way, that ep you guys did? That? Was that a
- 23:18Speaker 1: four banger?
- 23:19Speaker 3: You guys did like what seven eight years ago with
- 23:21Speaker 3: all the fucking classic samples?
- 23:24Speaker 1: Fuck? Oh, Paul, he done another one that we've done
- 23:28Speaker 1: two so far we did, Yeah, we did. What did
- 23:33Speaker 1: we call that? That ship was tough? Yeah? That was
- 23:37Speaker 1: there was only four records I think. Yeah, it was
- 23:39Speaker 1: like a quick one, like a quick banger that we
- 23:43Speaker 1: did another one titled slaw Mafia like that like.
- 23:47Speaker 2: Two I think three three.
- 23:50Speaker 1: Years ago, like I did a August I called it
- 23:54Speaker 1: the august Onslaught where I dropped like four albums in
- 23:57Speaker 1: a month that it was you drop that.
- 24:00Speaker 3: You dropped the album with riff Raft, you dropped, you
- 24:04Speaker 3: dropped two others.
- 24:05Speaker 1: Yeah, I dropped uh uh, DJ DJ Mugs, Miles zero
- 24:10Speaker 1: Ye shout to Mugs with fucking Del the Funky Homo
- 24:13Speaker 1: Sapient and DJ Paul on one record.
- 24:16Speaker 3: Another great ol Fi hip hop record. Another great album
- 24:18Speaker 3: you did. But it was after the Sometimes Why Ship?
- 24:20Speaker 3: If I'm right that I feel like you scratched your
- 24:24Speaker 3: rapping itche On was you and Caski's album.
- 24:26Speaker 1: Is fucking crazy? That came after. I think it came
- 24:30Speaker 1: after Yellow Black Sheep came after I think I might.
- 24:33Speaker 1: I think.
- 24:33Speaker 3: No, No it didn't because I was with Caski at
- 24:36Speaker 3: the at the Rainbow Room.
- 24:37Speaker 2: Yeah no I didn't.
- 24:37Speaker 1: It was before it was, but I was with Caski
- 24:40Speaker 1: at you know what you guys are talking about doing
- 24:41Speaker 1: part two?
- 24:42Speaker 2: You know a matter of fact, we were kind.
- 24:44Speaker 1: Of deep into it, and and I knew that that
- 24:46Speaker 1: record had to come out, and I was telling Caski.
- 24:48Speaker 1: I was like, bro, and I was like, I got
- 24:51Speaker 1: this rock and roll project. Though, Man, I'm telling you
- 24:53Speaker 1: we better get this out. Yeah, we better go. But
- 24:56Speaker 1: been a problem man is one of my favorite. Shout
- 24:59Speaker 1: to Tasty Man, so yeah, yeah, yeah'd be his crazy
- 25:02Speaker 1: that have one of the hardest videos too. Shout out
- 25:04Speaker 1: to Kaski too, who's getting married in a couple of days.
- 25:06Speaker 1: And I can't fucking make it too, is what. I'm sorry.
- 25:09Speaker 1: I'm sorry, dog, I'm sorry I cannot make it to you.
- 25:12Speaker 1: He's one of the.
- 25:12Speaker 3: Best, very underrated somehow, but just murdering it, building this
- 25:16Speaker 3: fan base still.
- 25:18Speaker 1: I that's a that's a that's that whole underrated thing
- 25:22Speaker 1: is like such a mystery. I like, I don't know
- 25:25Speaker 1: how well okay, so and in the same sense, like
- 25:32Speaker 1: even myself. You know, I met an artist named Cordel
- 25:38Speaker 1: with DJ Paul the other day. This guy get did
- 25:43Speaker 1: two billion streams just last year, and I had no clue.
- 25:48Speaker 2: I had never heard of him, never met him.
- 25:50Speaker 1: What kind of music does he do? It's like festival
- 25:53Speaker 1: like dark know, it's they call it funk, they call
- 25:57Speaker 1: it funky. Yeah, like they call that rat. But he
- 26:03Speaker 1: took over that ship and you know, and we hit
- 26:06Speaker 1: it up. We're homies. But I'm just like, you can
- 26:09Speaker 1: you can like have these like like your parameters don't
- 26:12Speaker 1: make like it doesn't line up with it, and you
- 26:14Speaker 1: can have a whole solar system and no one knows,
- 26:18Speaker 1: like people like you wouldn't believe.
- 26:20Speaker 2: Like a dude walks up to me like two days ago, like, oh.
- 26:24Speaker 1: Shit, yellow Wolf, what what dude? What I'm what? You
- 26:27Speaker 1: still making music? Like?
- 26:30Speaker 2: Man, I heard from you since Pop the Chunk.
- 26:31Speaker 1: I was like dog, you you you checked out. I
- 26:34Speaker 1: didn't check out. You tapped into some other ship. I've
- 26:37Speaker 1: been tapped in on my ship, you know, Like I
- 26:39Speaker 1: was like Dog. Since then, I've done like fifteen albums.
- 26:42Speaker 1: I don't know where you've been. But then I have
- 26:44Speaker 1: a gold album and multi platinum bro actually today like
- 26:48Speaker 1: multi platinum records and you know, a fucking a whiskey
- 26:53Speaker 1: company of fucking clothing and apparel brand, a fucking just
- 26:58Speaker 1: all kinds of shit's going on, and you know, but
- 27:00Speaker 1: it's just like you know, no, you can just exist, man. Well,
- 27:04Speaker 1: I always because I went to Utah and interviewed the
- 27:08Speaker 1: NBA Young Boy and I did a show with him
- 27:12Speaker 1: in New Zealand. Oh that's great, it's random him and CEO.
- 27:15Speaker 1: It was me and him and Cuevo Fire. Yeah, they
- 27:19Speaker 1: were dope, Like, both of them are great, but the
- 27:21Speaker 1: actual festival and the whole way random they did not have.
- 27:26Speaker 1: I flew out there with Tea pain. I was getting
- 27:29Speaker 1: more random paint. Well that's the homie first of all.
- 27:35Speaker 1: Oh he's the best, he's great. Uh got knights with
- 27:39Speaker 1: that guy? Yeah, me too? Uh uh? I love his wife.
- 27:43Speaker 1: Two shots. His wife's wife's great. Of course she's She's
- 27:47Speaker 1: from Gadsden, Alabama, my hometown.
- 27:50Speaker 3: I feel like her and I discussed that, but for real,
- 27:52Speaker 3: I think so because I think she had some sort
- 27:54Speaker 3: of road tide shit going on and I was like, oh,
- 27:56Speaker 3: you're from Alabama and she said, you're one of my
- 27:59Speaker 3: only Alabama references.
- 28:00Speaker 1: Obviously it's blown up a lot more. There's a lot more.
- 28:02Speaker 3: Popping artists from Alabama now, you know. But like I'm
- 28:06Speaker 3: always like, yo, where is that? How close is that
- 28:07Speaker 3: to Gadson? And they're like, how do you know about Gatsa?
- 28:09Speaker 3: Like Yellowolf from Gadson.
- 28:12Speaker 1: Beyonce is from Guys and I heard I know her.
- 28:15Speaker 1: Most of her family is still there, the Knowles family.
- 28:19Speaker 1: Are you all hip to? Like the young I know
- 28:22Speaker 1: streets of that Alabama got roots and gas. And let
- 28:25Speaker 1: me be clear. I know I know she wraps Texas,
- 28:27Speaker 1: but do you pay attention?
- 28:28Speaker 3: Like there's a kid named No Cap who's going crazy,
- 28:30Speaker 3: but he's like sign a little baby, super young street rapper,
- 28:34Speaker 3: but he's fucking litt He's from Alabama like some blues dope.
- 28:37Speaker 1: He's from US. He's from alabam. Alabama's having a wave man.
- 28:40Speaker 2: Alabama RECTI Peace dough b.
- 28:42Speaker 1: Yeah. Absolutely. Wasn't there a group called Dirty? Oh yeah, Dirty? Yeah?
- 28:47Speaker 1: Of course a group called Dirty were they wasn't it
- 28:51Speaker 1: Pop the Trunk? And there were were? There? Were they
- 28:54Speaker 1: on rap a lot? I don't know they might have been.
- 28:57Speaker 2: I don't you know what.
- 28:58Speaker 1: I don't really nerd out like that, you know, like
- 29:01Speaker 1: I said, I'm just I'm so hyper focused on the
- 29:04Speaker 1: ship that I do the next yeah.
- 29:06Speaker 2: Or just what I'm doing at the time.
- 29:08Speaker 1: You know, I don't have the bandwidth to study everything
- 29:10Speaker 1: that's happening. There's so fucking much and there's always something
- 29:13Speaker 1: new to discover and a lot of fucking talent. Man. Honestly,
- 29:17Speaker 1: the young the younger generation is killing it. In my opinion.
- 29:21Speaker 1: I love what's coming up. You know, there's a lot
- 29:22Speaker 1: of trash, of course, but there's a lot of inspiration
- 29:25Speaker 1: as well. For you.
- 29:29Speaker 3: We talked about Jelly a little bit, but just to
- 29:31Speaker 3: see I really gotta want to you know. You you've
- 29:34Speaker 3: been a guy who's been championing Jelly roll for it
- 29:37Speaker 3: for years and years and years from the grit and uh,
- 29:40Speaker 3: you know, he's always.
- 29:43Speaker 1: With He's one of the first crew members with this
- 29:44Speaker 1: SLA American tattoo, you know what I mean, Like that
- 29:47Speaker 1: that I took Jelly on tour with me and you know,
- 29:50Speaker 1: like put him in the studio and produce one of
- 29:53Speaker 1: his first singer songwriter songs, you know what I mean,
- 29:55Speaker 1: Like during when I was making a Ghetto Cowboy and
- 29:59Speaker 1: a Trial by Fire, when when Struggle just got out
- 30:02Speaker 1: of prison, had you know, Struggles still out of halfway house,
- 30:06Speaker 1: when I was pulling pulling them into the studio and
- 30:09Speaker 1: working and then uh waiting and Willie, which I think
- 30:13Speaker 1: they've done four of them now, but the first one
- 30:15Speaker 1: first was with us, you know. Yeah, And but you know,
- 30:20Speaker 1: to see to see it, he's just so incredibly smart man,
- 30:24Speaker 1: like blows my mind. I call him the Governor, Like, dude,
- 30:29Speaker 1: you're the governor he'll walk in.
- 30:30Speaker 2: He remembers everyone's.
- 30:31Speaker 1: Name, always eye contact, always everyone's name. How's your mom?
- 30:36Speaker 1: He remember mom's name, kids names, birthdays. He's like a
- 30:40Speaker 1: savant with that ship. And he's so pleasant to be around.
- 30:43Speaker 1: And I'm just happy that people are getting to experience that,
- 30:47Speaker 1: you know what I mean, Like he's always been that,
- 30:50Speaker 1: and he's always been the name hustling too though, Like sure,
- 30:52Speaker 1: but don't get it fucked up. He's tough, tough as nails,
- 30:55Speaker 1: you know what I mean.
- 30:55Speaker 2: And so but.
- 30:57Speaker 3: He hasn't changed, like people are like, yo, this guy
- 30:59Speaker 3: Jelly's so great, Like his interviewsers like that's how he's
- 31:01Speaker 3: always finished.
- 31:02Speaker 1: Well, I'm not going to say. I'm not going to
- 31:03Speaker 1: say he hasn't changed, but he has evolved into a
- 31:07Speaker 1: better version of himself, you know, Like the game is
- 31:10Speaker 1: fucking hard, man, and when you're when you're down, you
- 31:15Speaker 1: tend to be you gotta chip on your shoulder, you
- 31:19Speaker 1: know what I mean. And when things start to evolve,
- 31:21Speaker 1: it lightens up that weight that that you have been
- 31:24Speaker 1: carrying for so long, and it allows you to be
- 31:27Speaker 1: cool or you know what I mean. And so that
- 31:31Speaker 1: for him, I'm happy. I'm happy for him that he
- 31:33Speaker 1: is going to relieve Congress. He's relieved of the burden
- 31:36Speaker 1: of getting known. Now it's a rap. Now he gets
- 31:41Speaker 1: to like sit back, make more music, you know.
- 31:45Speaker 3: I mean when I tell people like he's been an
- 31:48Speaker 3: underground rapper for years, like this guy was opening for
- 31:51Speaker 3: Insane Clown Posse like nine years ago.
- 31:53Speaker 1: Like people don't get it, like ship me too, fucking
- 31:56Speaker 1: woo woo. They're coming here tonight, the coming here. I'm
- 32:00Speaker 1: interviewing them at ten pm. Two.
- 32:02Speaker 2: Let's go.
- 32:03Speaker 1: It's gonna be good. Dude.
- 32:04Speaker 2: It last time.
- 32:05Speaker 1: I look, I did that festival. Yeah, I guess that
- 32:08Speaker 1: the last the last time. What was I like, Well,
- 32:12Speaker 1: the first time, the first show I went to, they
- 32:16Speaker 1: started throwing fireworks on stage and I heard that, like
- 32:19Speaker 1: you know, they were like rowdy. I've heard that. I've
- 32:22Speaker 1: seen it, yeah, and I was like, fuck it, I'm
- 32:23Speaker 1: about that life. And I was with Shady at the time.
- 32:26Speaker 1: So when I walked on stage, I said, Shady records
- 32:29Speaker 1: in this motherfucker and I knew but like purposeful that show, yeah, exactly,
- 32:34Speaker 1: because I knew the beef You're like throw shit at me.
- 32:37Speaker 1: I'm here.
- 32:37Speaker 2: I knew the beef.
- 32:39Speaker 1: They're like boo, start throwing fireworks on stage and.
- 32:46Speaker 2: I said, I said, I said, whoo whoop, let's go.
- 32:49Speaker 1: And they loved it. It was like it was like
- 32:52Speaker 1: instant family, you know what I mean. I didn't say
- 32:54Speaker 1: that to say fuck y'all. I said that to say
- 32:59Speaker 1: I'm not scared, you know what I mean? Respect me here.
- 33:02Speaker 1: I made a fucking party. So they started throwing the
- 33:05Speaker 1: fucking fireworks on stage, and then somebody threw like a
- 33:09Speaker 1: pile of those fucking black cat firecrackers and it just
- 33:13Speaker 1: so happened right during the line, stood on top of them,
- 33:18Speaker 1: jump on like a pack is standing to get back
- 33:20Speaker 1: in the back and live with the pack of man ex.
- 33:21Speaker 1: I just went off on this fucking tangent and they
- 33:23Speaker 1: were going like fireworks and the fucking like and they
- 33:28Speaker 1: were like family family.
- 33:32Speaker 2: It was a rap after that.
- 33:33Speaker 1: So I fell in love with their squad and the
- 33:35Speaker 1: fans that they're the best man's the best people out there. Honestly,
- 33:38Speaker 1: I heard that the festival's wild placement. No okay, so
- 33:42Speaker 1: it got rowdier now they knew I was about it.
- 33:44Speaker 1: So the second time I went, they threw mortars. Mortars. Yeah,
- 33:50Speaker 1: that can hurt No, no, no, no, it definitely could.
- 33:53Speaker 1: And then somebody fucking hit me in the face with
- 33:55Speaker 1: a bottle rocket. Luckily I had shades on, but I
- 34:00Speaker 1: was like, fuck it, let's go. I never stopped, and
- 34:02Speaker 1: then this last time I went last, I'd have been
- 34:06Speaker 1: done after that. Oh listen, gonna shoot me next time? No?
- 34:10Speaker 2: No, no, no, okay they did, they did.
- 34:14Speaker 1: Okay, So so I walked out on stage, and I
- 34:19Speaker 1: guess at this point they're like, how rowdy can we
- 34:25Speaker 1: get during a Wolf set? You know, I'm not saying
- 34:28Speaker 1: they wanted to hurt me. It wasn't like that. That's
- 34:30Speaker 1: just their way of showing love, and like that's just
- 34:32Speaker 1: what they do. I guess it's like old school, like oh,
- 34:35Speaker 1: like like Western. They used to you know, they like
- 34:39Speaker 1: chicken wire around the stage and they would throw bottles
- 34:41Speaker 1: and beers when they loved the band.
- 34:43Speaker 2: They were just like that's just how they represent So
- 34:46Speaker 2: walking on stage.
- 34:47Speaker 1: Chicken wings, fucking hot dogs, and all of a sudden,
- 34:52Speaker 1: I feel like I'm getting stung by bees, like all
- 34:54Speaker 1: over my body, but I'm not moving. And then it
- 34:59Speaker 1: started to fucking like I need to move left and
- 35:02Speaker 1: right because something's they've they've sent I don't know what
- 35:06Speaker 1: the fuck was happening.
- 35:07Speaker 2: It was dark, but it was so come to find.
- 35:11Speaker 1: There was like three people out there with those automatic
- 35:14Speaker 1: fucking uh pellet guns that shoot plastic, and they were
- 35:19Speaker 1: like lighting me up, just the whole my whole set,
- 35:27Speaker 1: just fucking just fucking me up. But I survived. So
- 35:32Speaker 1: there's that. They got that, Like the drug Bridge family,
- 35:38Speaker 1: they're like, fuck you yo. So before the show, I
- 35:42Speaker 1: was I was talking to what's homie's name, Shaggy you
- 35:46Speaker 1: violent Jol.
- 35:48Speaker 2: I was talking to viol j.
- 35:49Speaker 1: I was like, I was like, hey man, you know
- 35:52Speaker 1: last time they threw mortars on stage. You know, I'm
- 35:55Speaker 1: not sure what's going to happen tonight, but you know,
- 35:56Speaker 1: if it gets too crazy, you think you could come
- 36:00Speaker 1: out there and like make sure they don't like kill
- 36:02Speaker 1: me or something.
- 36:03Speaker 6: He was like, bro, honestly, it'll probably get worse if
- 36:08Speaker 6: I step out there and say something like you can't
- 36:11Speaker 6: tell them to calm down. I was like, you're right,
- 36:12Speaker 6: you're right, you're right, all right, fuck it, here we go.
- 36:15Speaker 1: And so that was that. I was all fucking fucked up.
- 36:20Speaker 1: Looked like I got hit with ants all over my body.
- 36:22Speaker 1: Oh my god.
- 36:24Speaker 3: Yeah, that's shout out to uh to the Juggalos. They're
- 36:29Speaker 3: an interesting uh group of humans there.
- 36:32Speaker 2: Some artists got fucked up up out there, though, man like.
- 36:35Speaker 3: Tila Tequila got fucked up for Tela Tequila was like
- 36:39Speaker 3: on stage and they just just bombed her with just
- 36:42Speaker 3: and I think somebody from I think od B and
- 36:45Speaker 3: I gonna talk too more about the detes ICP Man's
- 36:50Speaker 3: good guys.
- 36:51Speaker 1: Good guys, I mean.
- 36:53Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, absolutely, they're good guys.
- 36:55Speaker 1: You know what I mean. They fucking they pay attention,
- 36:57Speaker 1: you know, and they showed love and support. I mean,
- 37:01Speaker 1: they've built an amazing following. Those dudes are brilliant, to
- 37:05Speaker 1: be honest, like brilliant business guys.
- 37:10Speaker 3: You have had a crazy since you got off of Shady.
- 37:15Speaker 3: I feel like, well, a good thing that happened was
- 37:18Speaker 3: Trunk Music too almost immediately went up on DSPs, which
- 37:20Speaker 3: was fucking amazing because that's actually my favorite one, that's
- 37:22Speaker 3: my favorite project of yours.
- 37:25Speaker 1: But Trump music too, Yes, what's the fucking second truck music? No,
- 37:31Speaker 1: I know what I'm just trying to figure out. Yeah, oh, Tennessee,
- 37:37Speaker 1: first that was on that for the first time, I
- 37:39Speaker 1: forget which.
- 37:40Speaker 2: One is one, which one's whatever.
- 37:43Speaker 1: I DJ the fucking release party in South Boy. You
- 37:46Speaker 1: were fucking blackout well, of course, and I had a
- 37:49Speaker 1: beard and a gold grill. Yes you did, Yes you did.
- 37:52Speaker 1: Uh Boo was tripping out rest in peace. She's like,
- 37:55Speaker 1: you got a grill and a beard. I'm surprised everybody
- 37:57Speaker 1: I saw who would I see who?
- 38:00Speaker 2: Uh uh djuh Drama.
- 38:06Speaker 1: Saw Drama on the plane on the way to south
- 38:08Speaker 1: By Southwest and I was sitting next to him in
- 38:11Speaker 1: first class. He was like, he's like, yo, yellow Wolf.
- 38:16Speaker 1: I was like, I was like, yeah, dog had a
- 38:18Speaker 1: fucking big period and a gold grill. He's like, I
- 38:20Speaker 1: was like, what, It's just a beard. He goes, nah, man,
- 38:22Speaker 1: it's a lot. That's a lot.
- 38:26Speaker 2: Nah Man, that's a lot.
- 38:28Speaker 1: Don't just call the beard. But I showed up at
- 38:31Speaker 1: south By Southwest that hey man, thank you by the
- 38:33Speaker 1: way for fucking supporting that record.
- 38:34Speaker 3: And No, it's been crazy though, just to see like
- 38:37Speaker 3: your output has been so awesome in terms of just
- 38:40Speaker 3: from a fan's perspective, because I feel like when you
- 38:43Speaker 3: were on Innerscope and Shady, we knew like if you
- 38:47Speaker 3: dropped music.
- 38:49Speaker 1: You'd be in a few years, you know, we get
- 38:50Speaker 1: something new.
- 38:51Speaker 3: But now it's like like you said, you had a
- 38:53Speaker 3: month thre you dropped an album every week. You might say,
- 38:55Speaker 3: fuck it, I want to go. Do you know an
- 38:57Speaker 3: album with CASKI or a rock album.
- 38:59Speaker 1: I do it the fu I want to do when
- 39:01Speaker 1: I want to do it. The other problem at that
- 39:03Speaker 1: with you know, just to add a conversation, like the
- 39:05Speaker 1: reason why artists get caught up at labels is because, yeah,
- 39:09Speaker 1: I got an album, it's prime, it's mixed, mastered, everything's
- 39:11Speaker 1: ready to go, got the whole world out planning going.
- 39:13Speaker 1: But hey, guess what, Kendrick Lamar's dropping on Fridays, so
- 39:19Speaker 1: we gotta wait. You cannot you know what I mean
- 39:21Speaker 1: type of deal where it's like now it's like fucking
- 39:23Speaker 1: drop that ship whenever, you know. And I love that,
- 39:26Speaker 1: and I know the fans appreciate it because, like you know,
- 39:29Speaker 1: and also this freestyles. Freestyles are fucking fun as fuck.
- 39:33Speaker 1: You know, just fucking record record them day of put
- 39:36Speaker 1: them out that night. You know, like it's that shit
- 39:39Speaker 1: is so much fun, and it just keeps the mojo flowing. Man,
- 39:43Speaker 1: And I'm excited about worst story Oh my god, this
- 39:47Speaker 1: double album. I'm excited. Oh my god. Dude, I've always
- 39:52Speaker 1: told you, by the way, and whenever you want to
- 39:53Speaker 1: do this during this podcast, if you would like to,
- 39:56Speaker 1: You've always asked me, let me break something, let me
- 40:00Speaker 1: break a record, let me break a song.
- 40:03Speaker 2: So I've decided I'll let I'll let you.
- 40:09Speaker 1: I will. I will grant you that. Now I'll let
- 40:14Speaker 1: you take a pick. Actually, because we've been homies for
- 40:16Speaker 1: so long. Yeah, okay, I got five singles that are
- 40:19Speaker 1: gonna roll out all the way up until the album
- 40:21Speaker 1: coming out May May. Okay, so we got five singles
- 40:26Speaker 1: and five videos. We just put out everything with a video.
- 40:29Speaker 1: Fucking sick video, sick record. Thank you. The next that's
- 40:32Speaker 1: off of Trump Music Forever. The next single that's coming
- 40:35Speaker 1: out is off of the Michael Wayne album, so we're
- 40:37Speaker 1: kind of skipping back. That's the one I just listened to.
- 40:39Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, listen to that is a Michael Wayne album.
- 40:43Speaker 1: No, I listened to the record though. The next record
- 40:44Speaker 1: that got the next record, get the fuck out of here? Yeah,
- 40:49Speaker 1: what is it? I just fucking heard it. It's vibe
- 40:51Speaker 1: as fuck. Who since you make you love Me? Yeah,
- 40:56Speaker 1: that's it. Right, Yeah, who the fuck? Since you make
- 40:58Speaker 1: you love me? Fucking rich?
- 41:00Speaker 4: You have it?
- 41:00Speaker 5: Bro?
- 41:01Speaker 4: Nah?
- 41:02Speaker 2: Who oh my publishers.
- 41:03Speaker 1: Yeah, dude, he's fucking leaking your shit. This guy, he's
- 41:06Speaker 1: leaking your ship. He sent you that record. I'm looking
- 41:09Speaker 1: at it her.
- 41:10Speaker 2: Hey, bro, we need to talk.
- 41:11Speaker 1: I got the clean edit, too clean edit. I don't
- 41:14Speaker 1: know you play clean edits have to Yeah, I'm on
- 41:17Speaker 1: the like you know, I'm all over the all right, Bro?
- 41:20Speaker 1: I like that record. I'll play you whatever you want.
- 41:25Speaker 1: We did do a freestyle. Remember we did that Wu
- 41:26Speaker 1: Tang freestyle we recorded at money Mar's house. I'll play you,
- 41:29Speaker 1: I'll play you, make you love me, I'll play you. Uh,
- 41:32Speaker 1: I'll play you anything you want off the records. Matter
- 41:34Speaker 1: of fact, I had thought, fuck it, I'll send the
- 41:39Speaker 1: whole goddamn album. I like to listen to it for sure.
- 41:42Speaker 1: You can trust me. I'm not gonna leak it.
- 41:45Speaker 2: No, what I'm saying is leak it.
- 41:47Speaker 1: Oh you want me to leak it? Oh? I see
- 41:48Speaker 1: what we're doing. Okay, Yeah, yeah, I'm down. But let's
- 41:52Speaker 1: just start with the single and the singles done both.
- 41:55Speaker 1: Like I'm telling you whatever.
- 41:56Speaker 3: When I heard this everything record I'm telling you because
- 42:00Speaker 3: I saw you teasing it, but when I saw when
- 42:02Speaker 3: it finally because it dropped like two weeks ago.
- 42:04Speaker 1: Now it was the last Friday. I feel like it
- 42:06Speaker 1: just came out. Yeah, it's like on the sixteenth. That
- 42:10Speaker 1: dropped on the sixteenth. Thank you, amazing, amazing record man.
- 42:14Speaker 3: Shout out to Willpower. I'm excited to hear both sides.
- 42:17Speaker 3: So this is like a double disc if there were
- 42:19Speaker 3: discs still.
- 42:22Speaker 1: Disc well, I mean it's it's gonna be vinyl, So
- 42:26Speaker 1: you're gonna be able to do the vinyl like you
- 42:28Speaker 1: might even have four Vieah, you know, it's dope. This
- 42:30Speaker 1: is dope. I'm going to the actual vinyl press. I'm
- 42:33Speaker 1: going to pour my own wax Wow into into an
- 42:38Speaker 1: exclusive amount of We're obviously we're doing a lot of vinyl,
- 42:42Speaker 1: but there will be a certain number that I pour myself,
- 42:46Speaker 1: and they'll be numbered. Yeah, they'll be signed the number
- 42:49Speaker 1: that I've and we're gonna film it and all that shit,
- 42:51Speaker 1: And that's just for the fans and also something fucking
- 42:54Speaker 1: really cool. I've never been I've never done that before,
- 42:56Speaker 1: So I'm gonna I'm gonna pour and press my own
- 42:58Speaker 1: vinyl and I'm gonna make up. So I'm gonna do
- 43:00Speaker 1: some shit like mix mix up some colors and ship
- 43:02Speaker 1: make them like really super unique. Y. Yeah, put some
- 43:05Speaker 1: skips in there, a little skippies.
- 43:07Speaker 3: You know, it's crazy, Like it's got to feel good
- 43:09Speaker 3: all these years, for all these years later though, like
- 43:12Speaker 3: you know, we use that word underground and we're talking
- 43:15Speaker 3: or underrated. Rather we're talking about certain people. There could
- 43:18Speaker 3: be a whole solar system happened and people don't realize it, right,
- 43:20Speaker 3: But you have had this fan base that has just
- 43:25Speaker 3: like always supported like like like throughout whatever you're going through.
- 43:30Speaker 3: You have that core, that slum American fan base that
- 43:32Speaker 3: is just I mean, most artists would die to have
- 43:36Speaker 3: that level of dedication from a group of people.
- 43:40Speaker 1: That most artists would die to have it, But most
- 43:43Speaker 1: artists wouldn't put their life in jeopardy like I have
- 43:45Speaker 1: to eat it to earn it. Yeah, Like it's not
- 43:48Speaker 1: it's not. It's not an easy route, you know what
- 43:51Speaker 1: I mean, To build your own thing, it just takes
- 43:58Speaker 1: a lot of time and it takes a lot of
- 44:00Speaker 1: courage too, you know what I mean. And to dive
- 44:02Speaker 1: off away from the system and to curate in your
- 44:07Speaker 1: own way, your own thing. And so I'm extremely fortunate
- 44:14Speaker 1: to have fell into what, you know, what SLA American is,
- 44:18Speaker 1: and to create the word and the culture and the
- 44:22Speaker 1: idea behind it, and for people to understand it. You know,
- 44:25Speaker 1: at one point we had more people around the world
- 44:27Speaker 1: with SLA American tattoos before we even printed a shirt
- 44:31Speaker 1: that says American. It was that serious. People really understood
- 44:34Speaker 1: it all over the globe. And so now yeah, it's
- 44:40Speaker 1: we've it's become the umbrella of a lot of amazing things,
- 44:44Speaker 1: you know, and you know, multiple genres. I got people
- 44:47Speaker 1: coming in like younger, younger artists coming into to Nashville
- 44:52Speaker 1: and recording records on new talent. Got a lot of
- 44:56Speaker 1: stuff coming in twenty twenty four. Mant not just my
- 44:58Speaker 1: double album, but a new new artist, crazy artists like
- 45:03Speaker 1: you know, I don't co sign a bullshit like crazy artists,
- 45:07Speaker 1: Country music, hip hop, rock and roll, all of it,
- 45:10Speaker 1: all all the things that fall up under SLA American.
- 45:13Speaker 1: I've I'm not going to say found, but I would
- 45:18Speaker 1: say they have found me, and they have found a
- 45:21Speaker 1: space where they feel comfortable making music and and and
- 45:24Speaker 1: the right crew to put it out with because I
- 45:26Speaker 1: get it, you know, I really truly do get it.
- 45:29Speaker 1: And yeah it's dope fucking clothing and apparel brand popping.
- 45:35Speaker 1: I just brought in Manny to do a cutting soul
- 45:39Speaker 1: Slamaria is gonna have a fashion house, dog fashion house
- 45:42Speaker 1: and that like the like limited drug well you were
- 45:45Speaker 1: doing it's like the Bible belt or like this is
- 45:48Speaker 1: something that this is like, look, we've I've been crawling.
- 45:51Speaker 1: I still got my ball Mark jacket. Let's go bal Mart.
- 45:54Speaker 1: Shout out, shout out Stuart Walton, Walton family, some of
- 45:59Speaker 1: that o G some of that og famous Slamerican.
- 46:02Speaker 2: Shit, Country Fresh.
- 46:04Speaker 3: Travis Barker, I still got the white tea and it's
- 46:07Speaker 3: got you on it with the skeleton face.
- 46:10Speaker 1: Man. Can I say how much I love I just
- 46:11Speaker 1: want to say officially how much I love Travis Barker
- 46:13Speaker 1: and what he did for me, you know, being in
- 46:17Speaker 1: California and Los Angeles in particular that you know, that
- 46:21Speaker 1: dude changed my life, you know, like as a big brother,
- 46:25Speaker 1: especially during my time with Shady. He was he was
- 46:32Speaker 1: he had my sex man, you know what I mean,
- 46:33Speaker 1: like really really carried me around and showed me so
- 46:37Speaker 1: much not just about music and networking, but.
- 46:42Speaker 2: Business and owning your own thing.
- 46:46Speaker 1: So much of Slamerican, of how I built Some American
- 46:48Speaker 1: was inspired by watching how.
- 46:51Speaker 2: Travis did it.
- 46:52Speaker 1: And you watched it from up close. Man, I was
- 46:54Speaker 1: right there. I saw it, you know, as you know
- 46:57Speaker 1: when when mixed Maaster Mike Travis to myself and the
- 47:00Speaker 1: cool kids went out and opened for Nicki Minaj and
- 47:06Speaker 1: I think Rick Ross, Nicki Minaj, Rick Ross and Low
- 47:09Speaker 1: Wayne and we were the openers for the show. And
- 47:13Speaker 1: like we pull up to a city and the whole
- 47:15Speaker 1: city would be dumped. Every city would already be dumped
- 47:18Speaker 1: with famous famous everywhere stickers, wheat paste all over the
- 47:21Speaker 1: fucking city.
- 47:22Speaker 2: He had like sent his crew out to dump the
- 47:26Speaker 2: city and then when.
- 47:28Speaker 1: We showed up, it was already present, and you're like,
- 47:30Speaker 1: oh shit, it's just brilliant, you know what I mean.
- 47:32Speaker 1: And so yeah, he's just the famous era was like
- 47:36Speaker 1: a real era.
- 47:36Speaker 4: Man.
- 47:37Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 47:37Speaker 2: Now he started at dt l A, which is crazy.
- 47:40Speaker 1: Oh that's his ship, Yeah exactly, I know that. Yeah,
- 47:43Speaker 1: I think he probably likes that no one knows that
- 47:44Speaker 1: he's behind it. Well now they do, now they do. Uh?
- 47:48Speaker 1: You and I haven't talked. Well, we've talked, we've seen
- 47:50Speaker 1: each other. I hope I got my facts right on that.
- 47:53Speaker 3: I don't know me too. I guess we'll find out.
- 47:59Speaker 3: But I went to the Trunk Music three release party.
- 48:02Speaker 3: It was at a random shithole bar in Sherman Oaks.
- 48:07Speaker 3: MGK pulled up. It was a moment, Oh yeah, I remember,
- 48:12Speaker 3: that's that's a night I met Gangster bur on your bus.
- 48:16Speaker 1: I can't I don't know. I don't know what I
- 48:19Speaker 1: was thinking, honestly with that party. It was super small, dude. Roll.
- 48:23Speaker 1: I was like, if I'm gonna go to Oyster House,
- 48:25Speaker 1: if I'm going to La, I'm gonna do it at
- 48:27Speaker 1: a dive bar. At the time you're well, at the
- 48:29Speaker 1: time you're pushing your creek water. Yeah, I'm gonna go
- 48:32Speaker 1: do it.
- 48:32Speaker 2: I'm gonna do a dive bar.
- 48:34Speaker 1: Fucking l a thing.
- 48:37Speaker 2: You don't do that ship in Los Angeles. Man, It's
- 48:40Speaker 2: like it was wild.
- 48:41Speaker 1: They didn't. It's not. It's that's some Nashville shit, you
- 48:45Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. Like Consight's twenty twenty, I would
- 48:47Speaker 1: have taken it down at least to the Rainbow or
- 48:49Speaker 1: the Viper Room. Or somewhere somewhere else sunset, you know
- 48:51Speaker 1: what I mean. So well, I was gonna say, like
- 48:53Speaker 1: it was, it was such a big deal. GKA pulled
- 48:56Speaker 1: up like I was twenty nineteen, right, I was twenty nine.
- 49:00Speaker 1: Team that I'm dropped.
- 49:02Speaker 3: But up until that point, like for your fans and
- 49:05Speaker 3: his fans, like you guys shared so many fans, you
- 49:06Speaker 3: guys had this weird like few that wasn't really about much,
- 49:10Speaker 3: you know, Oh it was a gay the MGK thing. Well,
- 49:12Speaker 3: I was gonna say, can you walk us through how
- 49:14Speaker 3: you guys ever communicating and forward and all that for
- 49:17Speaker 3: the fans who don't know.
- 49:18Speaker 1: Yeah, well MGK was just coming up super young. You
- 49:23Speaker 1: called him out on my show.
- 49:24Speaker 2: Yeah, well, I mean, yeah, he was coming up. He's
- 49:26Speaker 2: super young.
- 49:27Speaker 1: Yeah do you remember that?
- 49:28Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I remember that.
- 49:30Speaker 1: But he was super young. And I was on Warped
- 49:32Speaker 1: tour at the time, and I was like, you know,
- 49:35Speaker 1: part of my stage performance has always been you know,
- 49:40Speaker 1: throwing water, crowdsurfing, mosh pitting, and he made some kind
- 49:43Speaker 1: of comment I believe at the time it's like nobody
- 49:45Speaker 1: needs to be crowdsurfing, moshpitting, throwing or whatever.
- 49:48Speaker 2: Then this is my shit.
- 49:49Speaker 1: You know. He trying to claim that. Well, yeah, he
- 49:52Speaker 1: was young, like you said, Yeah, yeah, he was young.
- 49:55Speaker 2: And he might not have even been talking about me
- 49:58Speaker 2: in particular.
- 49:59Speaker 1: I mean, he may be. It may be somebody else.
- 50:02Speaker 1: I say in particular a lot these days. It's a
- 50:04Speaker 1: good thing to say in particular. Yeah, I like it.
- 50:06Speaker 1: I'm gonna shake it. I'm not saying it for the
- 50:07Speaker 1: rest of the interview. I'm over it, all right. Well
- 50:10Speaker 1: so so he so he uh so he made a
- 50:14Speaker 1: comment and I made my thing.
- 50:16Speaker 4: I was like, yo, you know what.
- 50:17Speaker 2: I don't know what I said.
- 50:18Speaker 1: But he said, say my name, dog, He said, say
- 50:21Speaker 1: my name. It was like before Walter White said save
- 50:24Speaker 1: my name. You were in my interview, You're like, say
- 50:26Speaker 1: my name on a record. It was aggressive. I mean yeah,
- 50:31Speaker 1: I mean I was coming in hot man, you know,
- 50:33Speaker 1: I was fucking but you guys had this out it,
- 50:36Speaker 1: you know, I know this thing. And then yeah, So
- 50:38Speaker 1: I saw him at a trade show like about three
- 50:41Speaker 1: or four months later. I think it was SR trade
- 50:43Speaker 1: show actually, as a matter of fact, and uh and
- 50:45Speaker 1: in LA and I walked up to him.
- 50:50Speaker 2: I was like, damn, this fool is tall. Tall for
- 50:52Speaker 2: for sure, and I was like, he was like, yo,
- 50:54Speaker 2: can we That's the first thing I noticed.
- 50:56Speaker 1: I like, damn, I'm goin to box this tall asthma,
- 50:58Speaker 1: Like this is not gonna be go well or is
- 51:01Speaker 1: it either gonna go really good for me or really
- 51:03Speaker 1: bad for me? But okay, and so we're gonna I
- 51:07Speaker 1: just walked up and I was like, I was like, yeoh,
- 51:09Speaker 1: what up. He was like, hey, man, can we talk?
- 51:11Speaker 1: I was like yeah.
- 51:13Speaker 2: And then he was you know, he apologized. I apologize.
- 51:17Speaker 1: That was it.
- 51:17Speaker 2: There was nothing else to say, and.
- 51:20Speaker 1: Time went by. We never did a at that time.
- 51:23Speaker 1: I was like, man, you know, like honestly, let's just
- 51:25Speaker 1: do a record, you know, and just squashed this whole
- 51:27Speaker 1: ship because like my fans were acting stupid for sure,
- 51:30Speaker 1: real stupid, like putting Slamerican banners on the side of
- 51:33Speaker 1: his bus and doing dumb shit, you know, taking selfies,
- 51:36Speaker 1: and I was like, this is stupid.
- 51:37Speaker 2: And this is getting out of hand.
- 51:39Speaker 1: Like I didn't. I didn't that you're a great guy.
- 51:41Speaker 1: He's a great guy. It's fun. Yeah, it's all good.
- 51:43Speaker 1: It's all good. So years later the song came out
- 51:46Speaker 1: Hard years later.
- 51:47Speaker 2: DJ Paul says.
- 51:50Speaker 1: Hey man, we're working on a Trump music. Fucking what
- 51:55Speaker 1: is it now? Three? Three? It was three?
- 51:57Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 51:58Speaker 2: How was you want to fuck with?
- 51:59Speaker 1: Three? I like three a lot. Love three the record
- 52:02Speaker 1: with Dube's hard as fuck. Yeah, great album. I love
- 52:05Speaker 1: three threes.
- 52:06Speaker 2: I thought three was crazy.
- 52:07Speaker 1: No, I agree.
- 52:08Speaker 2: Two's got some classics on me.
- 52:10Speaker 1: Two though, it's just like peak willpower. Well, you know what,
- 52:15Speaker 1: good point because to me, because because and three will
- 52:17Speaker 1: power was not fully present because I had will power
- 52:20Speaker 1: at my house when I think it.
- 52:21Speaker 3: Was Box Chevy four where he just freaks the instrumental
- 52:24Speaker 3: for like three minutes at the end, and it's just
- 52:27Speaker 3: like it was like almost like the closest thing to
- 52:29Speaker 3: a hip hop solo.
- 52:30Speaker 1: There is, oh yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. We went crazy
- 52:32Speaker 1: on that one. But no, I love I mean listen,
- 52:34Speaker 1: I was both appreciate it. Three is amazing, love three
- 52:39Speaker 1: thank you well.
- 52:40Speaker 2: DJ Paul was like, you know, we're making rowdy And
- 52:45Speaker 2: by the way, it was about it. If you bout it,
- 52:48Speaker 2: say you bout it.
- 52:49Speaker 1: I'm about it. The city that is about it, about it, No,
- 52:53Speaker 1: it's about it. But we couldn't get we couldn't we
- 52:55Speaker 1: couldn't get in contact with Master, Peeve or nothing. Paul
- 52:59Speaker 1: was just like, man, fuck it color rowdy. Yeah, he goes, hey, man.
- 53:05Speaker 4: Go get uh.
- 53:06Speaker 7: He goes go get mg K and eminem and we
- 53:11Speaker 7: had the craziest record of all time. So he's like, y'all,
- 53:16Speaker 7: three white boys get out of here. It's gonna be crazy.
- 53:21Speaker 7: And I was like, that's not a bad idea actually,
- 53:24Speaker 7: So I recorded it.
- 53:25Speaker 1: And fucking senate Sena to Marshall and you know, ship
- 53:29Speaker 1: next thing, you know, Marshall fucking went went crazy on
- 53:33Speaker 1: on mg k's they had to kill show. I had
- 53:36Speaker 1: actually think.
- 53:36Speaker 3: Mg pivots, you know, do my thing, because there was
- 53:41Speaker 3: I feel like, was there did they? Because that came
- 53:44Speaker 3: out that was your last album on Shady Right Truck
- 53:47Speaker 3: Music three?
- 53:49Speaker 1: Was it? I believe it was? Yeah?
- 53:52Speaker 2: I think so because after that was my independent release
- 53:55Speaker 2: Ghtto Cowboy.
- 53:56Speaker 3: Was there any pushback from Shady having MGK the album
- 54:00Speaker 3: at the time?
- 54:03Speaker 1: Now, there was no, No. Marshall was all about it. Marshall.
- 54:05Speaker 1: Marshall like, no, respectfully, I did tap in for sure.
- 54:09Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying, Like, I ain't fucking not
- 54:11Speaker 1: a fool jumping off a cliffs. No, I'm not like
- 54:14Speaker 1: because to be honest, it was like if if you
- 54:17Speaker 1: if you say no and you say go to war, there,
- 54:20Speaker 1: let's go. It's it's it's curtains like respectfully on some
- 54:24Speaker 1: hip hop ships, of course tap in with the sense
- 54:27Speaker 1: he so I did, and fucking he was like, nah, man,
- 54:32Speaker 1: like you know, people want to hear that, you know,
- 54:35Speaker 1: and it just you know, I've always had a lot
- 54:38Speaker 1: of respect for Marshall obviously, you know, I've looked up
- 54:41Speaker 1: to up to him for years. That moment was kind
- 54:44Speaker 1: of like, damn, man, you really give a fuck about me,
- 54:48Speaker 1: you know what I mean, Like you really care that
- 54:50Speaker 1: much to put aside and be like, yeah and let
- 54:53Speaker 1: me live. Ipect. Knowing that I had invested this before
- 54:56Speaker 1: I knew this happened, I was just like, man, you're
- 55:00Speaker 1: man that I got nothing bad to say about Shady
- 55:05Speaker 1: or that whole time I was there. There's you know,
- 55:08Speaker 1: we hit our we bumped our heads on the first album,
- 55:11Speaker 1: you know, like creatively, you know, yeah, I mean I remember,
- 55:16Speaker 1: but I remember you.
- 55:17Speaker 3: I mean you recorded most of that Ilum in Vegas,
- 55:19Speaker 3: all of it, yeah, at Moll's house, and then some.
- 55:22Speaker 2: Of it in Detroit, like we did Heartbreak in Detroit.
- 55:27Speaker 3: Let me tell you about heartbreak. Yeah, it's one of
- 55:31Speaker 3: my favorites. That's probably the best song on that album.
- 55:34Speaker 3: I like the one with Ritz too.
- 55:36Speaker 1: I just burped right into the mIRC. It happens when
- 55:39Speaker 1: you talk for Yeah, No, it's crazy because radioactive to me,
- 55:42Speaker 1: I remember, you know what it was though, keV, What
- 55:48Speaker 1: have you seen Wayne's World? Yeah? Of course I know
- 55:51Speaker 1: most people have. It's kind of rhetorical, but I like,
- 55:56Speaker 1: but yeah, great, fair enough. But so great movie by
- 56:02Speaker 1: the way, great movie, by the way. Both is there? Three?
- 56:06Speaker 1: Is there a thirty? So no, that scene where you
- 56:13Speaker 1: know they have this crazy underground show and you know it,
- 56:19Speaker 1: they have their stees and you know, everything's like kind
- 56:22Speaker 1: of perfect, and they get ripped up and thrown into
- 56:26Speaker 1: this corporate scene and then it goes the their theme
- 56:31Speaker 1: music changes. You know, it's all fucking dressed up to
- 56:36Speaker 1: be pretty and not the same show anymore.
- 56:38Speaker 8: And that is.
- 56:40Speaker 2: Exactly what happened to me with my first album.
- 56:44Speaker 1: Like even.
- 56:47Speaker 2: My logo got flipped.
- 56:49Speaker 1: They had an art department at Interscope that fucking changed
- 56:52Speaker 1: my logo and like put the radioactive symbol and the
- 56:56Speaker 1: o of yellow Wolf and like orange beanies and like
- 57:00Speaker 1: just all kinds of weird you know, ship that like
- 57:03Speaker 1: people think I'm responsible for. So there's so much of
- 57:06Speaker 1: that that I was just like, what the like wanting
- 57:09Speaker 1: to flip over tables, you know what I mean, like,
- 57:11Speaker 1: what the fuck are you doing? Fucking it up? And
- 57:14Speaker 1: then and then creatively, you know, it was such a
- 57:16Speaker 1: rat race to be on that album because like, oh
- 57:19Speaker 1: my god, fucking eminem sound a white boy, What the
- 57:21Speaker 1: fuck is going on?
- 57:22Speaker 2: I want to I have to be a part of this.
- 57:24Speaker 1: And plus, you know, I was buzzing pretty heavy at
- 57:26Speaker 1: the time with with with Trump music and everything that
- 57:29Speaker 1: had going on. And then.
- 57:34Speaker 2: Poop, you know, we had poo Bear in the studio
- 57:38Speaker 2: whom I loved.
- 57:39Speaker 1: Happy Birthday, Happy Birthday shouts at audibles too, Happy Birthday,
- 57:44Speaker 1: shout out to Molly mal you know, wild Era Bear,
- 57:48Speaker 1: j Dot Kawan, Prather, the whole, the whole Gang Park
- 57:53Speaker 1: in Vegas House.
- 57:55Speaker 3: Oh yeah, that was before it was like on MTV
- 57:57Speaker 3: and people really knew who Mall was. Like that was
- 57:59Speaker 3: like peak, like mysterious random mansion in.
- 58:02Speaker 1: The I love Mall the mam man that that that dude,
- 58:05Speaker 1: he liked My mom came out like look, they became
- 58:08Speaker 1: like super super Superman. He would fly my mom out
- 58:12Speaker 1: and just get my like cart my mom around in
- 58:14Speaker 1: a may box, you know what I mean, Like just
- 58:15Speaker 1: like with a driver. Dinner with you, your mom and
- 58:18Speaker 1: him at the Palms one time. Oh my god, that
- 58:20Speaker 1: was Newport. That was my first big bill. That was
- 58:23Speaker 1: my first big dinner bill. Mmm, and your name was
- 58:25Speaker 1: it was It was like seven thousand dollars to feed
- 58:28Speaker 1: your puckish. Remember it was the first time you had
- 58:30Speaker 1: your name on the Palm sign up on the Marquee,
- 58:35Speaker 1: which the Palms Market and it was Palms is that
- 58:37Speaker 1: ship because there was like rain and there was the
- 58:39Speaker 1: spot on the fucking roof and yeah, pump man, Me
- 58:43Speaker 1: and me and Travis bark That was my highest paying
- 58:49Speaker 1: show was me and Travis Barker New Year's at the Palms.
- 58:53Speaker 1: I remember teen minutes hommy hunter k that's beautiful. You
- 59:00Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. Let's go me and me and
- 59:02Speaker 1: fucking there was one of clothing me and Travers was like,
- 59:06Speaker 1: yup it fucking split that shit up and dip well.
- 59:09Speaker 1: It was one of the clothing conventions that was in town.
- 59:12Speaker 1: And that shit don't exist no more. The palms, not
- 59:15Speaker 1: the money. The money is still there, trust me, no.
- 59:17Speaker 3: But I remember me and you went to a Travis
- 59:21Speaker 3: Sweet party and it was like, you know, they were
- 59:24Speaker 3: just giving away tennis shoes and shit from whatever shoe
- 59:27Speaker 3: company had. So I left with like, you know, at
- 59:29Speaker 3: the time, I'm making like twenty five grand a year
- 59:31Speaker 3: at that shitty Vegas radio station, So I'm like, how
- 59:34Speaker 3: I can have some I'm walking down the fucking elevator
- 59:37Speaker 3: with like twelve pairs of shoes to try to fucking sell.
- 59:39Speaker 1: It, and like all this Famous stars and strap shit,
- 59:43Speaker 1: and I'm like, cool, this shit's going on. You know,
- 59:46Speaker 1: I have my own shoe on Famous I think I
- 59:49Speaker 1: recall that. Yeah, designed it. I drew that motherfucker on
- 59:52Speaker 1: paper in the back of the bus. And so there
- 59:55Speaker 1: was an opportunity to extend the deal with Famous. So
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: I was like, man, well, I'm down to I'm down
- 1:00:03Speaker 1: to do another run. But can I have my own
- 1:00:06Speaker 1: like like kind of a sub line, which I was like,
- 1:00:09Speaker 1: we'll call it Country Fresh. And then I want a
- 1:00:12Speaker 1: shoe deal? Can I get a shoe? I always wanted
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: a shoe, So I designed this shoe a red shoe.
- 1:00:19Speaker 1: I remember him, you remember I remember they were higher, right,
- 1:00:21Speaker 1: they were like a chuck a boot, Yeah, yeah, but
- 1:00:24Speaker 1: they had their friends around the back. I remember him.
- 1:00:26Speaker 1: I remember him man almost like a ghost face wallaby
- 1:00:31Speaker 1: if you will, ish kind of a wallaby, a little
- 1:00:34Speaker 1: bit of advanced chuck a boot kind of a wallaby
- 1:00:36Speaker 1: and moccasin blend. Yes, hard ass toe box. By the way,
- 1:00:43Speaker 1: like the silhouette on this shoe is so sick. And
- 1:00:50Speaker 1: I'm not sure, but I want to say that whoever
- 1:00:54Speaker 1: was running famous at the time got fired for that
- 1:00:57Speaker 1: shoe because they made too many. They got, they got,
- 1:01:01Speaker 1: they got too stoked on it and made too many shoes.
- 1:01:04Speaker 1: And but that shoe, it was a unique shoe. Bro Listen,
- 1:01:09Speaker 1: it got ripped. Van's got a hold of that design.
- 1:01:13Speaker 1: Louis Watan got a hold of that design. That's crazy.
- 1:01:16Speaker 1: Diamond up, Nick Diamond Diamond got got a hold of
- 1:01:20Speaker 1: a little piece of there was like that that friends
- 1:01:22Speaker 1: off the back of that shoe.
- 1:01:23Speaker 2: It went crazy.
- 1:01:25Speaker 1: Yo.
- 1:01:26Speaker 3: Getting back to the first album, do you feel like
- 1:01:28Speaker 3: a record Like's If You were to Move? I feel
- 1:01:31Speaker 3: like a record like Let's Roll at that time? Was
- 1:01:35Speaker 3: at the time you were getting pushed at urban and
- 1:01:38Speaker 3: rhythmic radio, which was like hip hop radio, and it's
- 1:01:41Speaker 3: kind of a It was just a hard sell to
- 1:01:44Speaker 3: close minded program directors at that time.
- 1:01:46Speaker 2: Always art, I'm never not hard, you know what I'm saying.
- 1:01:49Speaker 3: If you move forward, like I feel like a lot
- 1:01:51Speaker 3: of that ship like that, to me is a record
- 1:01:53Speaker 3: that's like nowadays, the genre is ship like really goes.
- 1:01:57Speaker 3: It's almost like you know, like I feel like you're
- 1:02:00Speaker 3: almost like you were ahead of your you kind of
- 1:02:02Speaker 3: fucking ran through bullets so people could walk safely at night.
- 1:02:06Speaker 3: When it comes to a lot of this ship, you
- 1:02:07Speaker 3: know what I mean, I mean, and then I app
- 1:02:10Speaker 3: say that a lot of guys will give you that credit.
- 1:02:12Speaker 1: You know what I mean, thank you, thank you. You know,
- 1:02:14Speaker 1: I'll take the flowers, you know, like I know, you know,
- 1:02:17Speaker 1: I like if you know, you know, but you know,
- 1:02:20Speaker 1: it's like, you know, walking that line took a lot
- 1:02:24Speaker 1: of fucking like I had to make like boss decisions
- 1:02:30Speaker 1: at a young artist age, like not not age and
- 1:02:36Speaker 1: not age specifically, I just mean like I'm a new artist,
- 1:02:39Speaker 1: but I gotta make boss decisions. One of those decisions
- 1:02:42Speaker 1: was we were in Harlem to shoot, let's roll the
- 1:02:46Speaker 1: whole out. The whole video was shot in Harlem with
- 1:02:51Speaker 1: DJ Coolhirk, me, Bob and HERK and a Cadillac around
- 1:02:55Speaker 1: around Harlem. By the way, there's an argument going on
- 1:03:00Speaker 1: of not not an argument, but a discussion. There's a
- 1:03:03Speaker 1: discussion going on. Cool Heirk told me that, you know,
- 1:03:09Speaker 1: he created hip hop and and in in this particular neighborhood.
- 1:03:14Speaker 1: He you know, he brought the tables Cedric Conceder, right,
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: is this is the and then the other the other
- 1:03:19Speaker 1: And he told me the whole story. I'm not going
- 1:03:21Speaker 1: to go into depth about it, you know whatever, but
- 1:03:25Speaker 1: it made a lot of sense to me, Like you know,
- 1:03:27Speaker 1: the break beats and the MC's and how he's credited
- 1:03:31Speaker 1: as the guy who kind of kicked the ship off
- 1:03:34Speaker 1: kind of No, he's credited as the guy like he's
- 1:03:36Speaker 1: the guy, he's the inventor of hip hop.
- 1:03:38Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:03:38Speaker 1: But then Africa ben Bata, right, so there's thing going down,
- 1:03:46Speaker 1: you know, but Bob and there's a lot of things
- 1:03:49Speaker 1: going down with Africa. The whole time that we're recording
- 1:03:52Speaker 1: this video, Bob and and HERK are just going Bob
- 1:03:56Speaker 1: is kid rock. By the way, I just called him,
- 1:03:59Speaker 1: I feel worried about calling m kid rock every time
- 1:04:01Speaker 1: kid rock, kid Rock, kid Rock.
- 1:04:02Speaker 2: He said, Bob, it's Bob, It's Bobby.
- 1:04:04Speaker 1: So they're going back and forth, you know, with this story,
- 1:04:07Speaker 1: and I'm just soaking it up, man, you know what
- 1:04:09Speaker 1: I mean. We're rolling through Harlem and shit, and it
- 1:04:11Speaker 1: was beautiful. But at the end of the edit I
- 1:04:14Speaker 1: saw it and I was like, Bro, I'm from Alabama.
- 1:04:18Speaker 1: My first single cannot be shot in Harlem.
- 1:04:21Speaker 2: It can't.
- 1:04:22Speaker 1: I need to shoot the rest of this in Alabama. Somehow,
- 1:04:25Speaker 1: no budget, none, zero label says no. I call the director.
- 1:04:31Speaker 1: This is what I'm saying about making boss decisions. I
- 1:04:34Speaker 1: called the director. I said, I'll pay you everything that
- 1:04:38Speaker 1: I have, please come to Alabama. And I did my
- 1:04:42Speaker 1: fucking money, and I did not have a lot of money.
- 1:04:45Speaker 1: I spent every three shoot. I think it cost me
- 1:04:49Speaker 1: like sixty grand and I may have had like maybe
- 1:04:52Speaker 1: seventy thousand dollars in the bank. And I took like
- 1:04:57Speaker 1: that sixty and put it direc directly in his pocket.
- 1:05:01Speaker 1: And so let's shoot the rest of the ship in Alabama.
- 1:05:04Speaker 1: And thank God, because like Bro, that was the part
- 1:05:08Speaker 1: that that guided the country rap shit that.
- 1:05:14Speaker 3: Was that was to follow, and I think that had
- 1:05:16Speaker 3: a lot to do with I don't know if you
- 1:05:19Speaker 3: still their part well, I mean obviously being being because
- 1:05:21Speaker 3: it was. Wasn't it Alabama's theme song for one of
- 1:05:24Speaker 3: their their championship runs or something? I remember seeing it
- 1:05:26Speaker 3: on ESPN.
- 1:05:27Speaker 2: Let me tell you something.
- 1:05:28Speaker 1: I'll tell you a real funny story about that ship,
- 1:05:31Speaker 1: roll Tide. Tell you a real funny story about that
- 1:05:33Speaker 1: motherfucking shit. All right, shout to Rollie Willie. Now it's
- 1:05:38Speaker 1: roll tiede to the grip because you know, it's a
- 1:05:40Speaker 1: birthright when you're from Alabama.
- 1:05:42Speaker 2: It's just some shit that you're just born with, you
- 1:05:44Speaker 2: know what I mean? Like, come on, look, it's.
- 1:05:47Speaker 1: Roll Tide, sign hearted Dixie, Alabama. It's getting it so
- 1:05:54Speaker 1: recipes Tommy Mitchell, Barbara Mitchell, Barbara Jean so so like, yeah,
- 1:06:01Speaker 1: you we had we had this whole like there was
- 1:06:04Speaker 1: an importance to that song.
- 1:06:06Speaker 2: Let's roll roll.
- 1:06:07Speaker 1: Tide, duh, duh, right, match made in heaven. Like but
- 1:06:11Speaker 1: even when I wrote it, I didn't think about that,
- 1:06:14Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. But I was like, oh, yeah,
- 1:06:16Speaker 1: let's fucking let's go out and fucking support the Crimson
- 1:06:19Speaker 1: Tide at what is it the Iron Bow Iron Bowl
- 1:06:23Speaker 1: with Auburn. Yeah, so they're in Tuscaloosa for the Iron
- 1:06:28Speaker 1: Bowl and we're gonna go work. Let's roll at the
- 1:06:31Speaker 1: Arn Bowl and I pull up, pull up to the
- 1:06:37Speaker 1: Ron Bowl and there's a dude, I'm not shipping you
- 1:06:41Speaker 1: hanging out of a truck can with a with a
- 1:06:46Speaker 1: like the fucking what are the megaphone? Megaphone hanging out
- 1:06:51Speaker 1: the truck the side of a truck like a like
- 1:06:53Speaker 1: a like a U Haul truck, literally a U Haul truck.
- 1:07:01Speaker 1: You're the wolf is in the building outside by the way,
- 1:07:06Speaker 1: we're outside, you're the wolf is in the building. You're
- 1:07:09Speaker 1: the and like they have let's roll posters about on
- 1:07:17Speaker 1: the truck size about the size of this big Lebowski poster.
- 1:07:23Speaker 2: Taped in multiple across.
- 1:07:26Speaker 1: Do you wow? Innerscope had given this promotional company.
- 1:07:34Speaker 2: Money to promote me. They plastered my poster on the
- 1:07:39Speaker 2: side of this U haul truck.
- 1:07:40Speaker 1: How much they truck and walked around how much hold
- 1:07:42Speaker 1: up and walked around I'll get to that, and walked
- 1:07:44Speaker 1: and drove around yelling that shit out. But first of all,
- 1:07:49Speaker 1: when I saw that the car wasn't even stopping. My
- 1:07:53Speaker 1: manager goes, I say, Yo, what what the And I
- 1:07:59Speaker 1: fucking I jump out of the car. Where are still rolling?
- 1:08:03Speaker 1: And Jaya goes, no, no, no, please please, no no, no,
- 1:08:05Speaker 1: no no no, I'm fucking I'm yanking all the posters
- 1:08:08Speaker 1: off a fucking fucking take the dude's fucking megaphone out
- 1:08:10Speaker 1: of his fucking hand, like, fucking throw that shit on
- 1:08:13Speaker 1: the ground, get the fuck out of here. So they had,
- 1:08:16Speaker 1: so they probably took about fifteen hundred dollars to pay
- 1:08:19Speaker 1: that guy to do that, and then and took the
- 1:08:21Speaker 1: other twenty grand, Yeah, and paid for a frat party
- 1:08:25Speaker 1: keg party. Well just for people who don't know bow.
- 1:08:28Speaker 1: If that's how that works, well, if you're an up
- 1:08:30Speaker 1: and coming artist, the number one way that people inside
- 1:08:34Speaker 1: of the buildings steal money from artists budgets is the
- 1:08:37Speaker 1: street team budget. Yeah, it's all bullshit.
- 1:08:40Speaker 3: It's a bullshit like if you if there's still there's
- 1:08:43Speaker 3: still labels right now that when an album drops, it's
- 1:08:46Speaker 3: in people's deals that fifty k is allocated for street
- 1:08:48Speaker 3: team marketing. To this day, I'm talking about major labels,
- 1:08:52Speaker 3: and I know people in those buildings that split that
- 1:08:55Speaker 3: money between themselves.
- 1:08:56Speaker 1: They'll take all your fucking posters and throw them in
- 1:08:58Speaker 1: the dumpster and say, yeah, say I ran the streets.
- 1:09:01Speaker 1: What you have to do is you got to have
- 1:09:03Speaker 1: someone that you like. When we did our ship, we
- 1:09:11Speaker 1: what's a fucking phone call right there? And I might
- 1:09:13Speaker 1: a sure take that not going to fuck fuck it?
- 1:09:20Speaker 1: So oh man, God, that just threw me off of
- 1:09:26Speaker 1: what uh okay? So yeah, So I used to work
- 1:09:28Speaker 1: for a marketing company when I was a kid. I
- 1:09:31Speaker 1: so in in in New York and two thousand. I
- 1:09:39Speaker 1: worked for a company called Guerrilla Marketing, and I did
- 1:09:44Speaker 1: a lot of hip hop albums during that time. One
- 1:09:46Speaker 1: of them was Autobionics for De La Soul. So I
- 1:09:51Speaker 1: would go around the streets wearing a space suit in
- 1:09:55Speaker 1: New York City, like a full on space like a
- 1:09:58Speaker 1: space suit dog. And I painted this big like god,
- 1:10:02Speaker 1: I don't know where that that painting, man, if someone
- 1:10:04Speaker 1: could find that, holy shit I painted. I painted their
- 1:10:09Speaker 1: album cover on a piece of canvas and and I
- 1:10:15Speaker 1: would walk around the city, you know, with this suit
- 1:10:19Speaker 1: the sign. My other job was to take posters and
- 1:10:23Speaker 1: stickers and put them up in all these record stores. Now,
- 1:10:26Speaker 1: I did that because I honored day La Soul, you know,
- 1:10:29Speaker 1: and I also honored the job of promotion. I understood it,
- 1:10:32Speaker 1: you know, and I was loyal. Some of the mother motherfuckers, though,
- 1:10:38Speaker 1: they would take like a bag of like day La
- 1:10:40Speaker 1: Soul's posters literally on the street, literally and then go
- 1:10:45Speaker 1: get pizza, do whatever the fuck they wanted to do.
- 1:10:48Speaker 1: You know, you're working from from from noon to to
- 1:10:51Speaker 1: seven or eight at night, and they would just clock
- 1:10:53Speaker 1: out at eight, and we're like, yeah, I handled that so.
- 1:10:57Speaker 3: That that it's worse nowadays, that kind of shit don't
- 1:11:00Speaker 3: even exist anymore. The money is just invisible. It's like
- 1:11:02Speaker 3: where to go.
- 1:11:03Speaker 1: Shit. We don't fuck around though, man, my my, my
- 1:11:06Speaker 1: boys are from the streets and have done I'm not
- 1:11:09Speaker 1: talking about crime.
- 1:11:10Speaker 2: I'm talking about street shit.
- 1:11:11Speaker 1: I'm talking about street art, street ship, you know, street promotion,
- 1:11:15Speaker 1: like gorilla shit. So when we do shiit, we you know,
- 1:11:19Speaker 1: we're on point with it, and like you ain't. You
- 1:11:21Speaker 1: ain't slipping up, man, We're tapping in. We know the tricks,
- 1:11:24Speaker 1: so you ain't pulling that pulling that shit over here.
- 1:11:26Speaker 3: You talked about having that job, wasn't there like a
- 1:11:29Speaker 3: year in which you were doing like deep ice fishing.
- 1:11:31Speaker 1: Oh you want to hear something crazy on a boat
- 1:11:33Speaker 1: somewhere just before we go there, when I was.
- 1:11:36Speaker 2: In front of t R L in a fucking spacesuit.
- 1:11:39Speaker 1: It's an era. My wife that I would meet years
- 1:11:42Speaker 1: later was in Fife. Yes, Fife Dobson was in my
- 1:11:47Speaker 1: ex wife. But she's you, guys are it's very coolsher.
- 1:11:51Speaker 2: I love Fefe.
- 1:11:52Speaker 1: I love her to death.
- 1:11:52Speaker 3: I'd like to point out Tennessee Life, one of the
- 1:11:54Speaker 3: most fucking emotionally amazing love songs ever my wife.
- 1:11:59Speaker 1: I played it my wedding. Yeah, I played this song
- 1:12:02Speaker 1: on my wedding.
- 1:12:02Speaker 3: It was one of the songs it was like, it
- 1:12:04Speaker 3: was like one of the ten songs that I needed
- 1:12:05Speaker 3: to play before we came out.
- 1:12:07Speaker 1: I should have played it at my wedding. Fucking should
- 1:12:11Speaker 1: have fucking wrapped that ship to her face. Maybe my
- 1:12:17Speaker 1: marriage would have turned out better. No, nah nah, I
- 1:12:20Speaker 1: love Fife to death. She's amazing, Like seriously, all time
- 1:12:23Speaker 1: great Canadian listen, all time, great artists, all time, great
- 1:12:27Speaker 1: human all time, like the first of her kind in
- 1:12:30Speaker 1: so many ways, like artistically just untouched, like just unbelievable.
- 1:12:37Speaker 2: So love you Fife.
- 1:12:38Speaker 3: If you watch him, she saw me the highest night
- 1:12:41Speaker 3: of my life. I tell the story all the time.
- 1:12:43Speaker 3: It is the first time I ever really talked to
- 1:12:45Speaker 3: a Fifi. You and Ritz were on tour and I
- 1:12:49Speaker 3: ate a whole weed brownie that I shouldn't ate, and
- 1:12:53Speaker 3: that shit hit me like a fucking.
- 1:12:55Speaker 4: Ton of bricks. Dude.
- 1:12:56Speaker 1: You know the first song that we did that how
- 1:12:58Speaker 1: Fifi and I like hit it off? Animal produced by
- 1:13:02Speaker 1: Diplo Crazy on Radioactive and she featured on that record,
- 1:13:08Speaker 1: and we hung out and and I didn't realize Diplo
- 1:13:11Speaker 1: made that beat. Cannot confirm or deny whether Diplo actually
- 1:13:17Speaker 1: made that beat, but let's just say he did. Okay, Nah,
- 1:13:24Speaker 1: Diplo is a for goddamn man, dude, Like, I'm sure
- 1:13:27Speaker 1: he did make the beat, but sometimes he just produces
- 1:13:30Speaker 1: and he don't touch it.
- 1:13:33Speaker 2: Yeah, fucking get get it.
- 1:13:34Speaker 1: How you live. I'm not mad. He like our friend
- 1:13:38Speaker 1: Molly More produce. Yes, Producing doesn't mean okay, this is
- 1:13:42Speaker 1: for real, for real, this is for real. Producing does
- 1:13:44Speaker 1: not mean that you touch any instrument. Sometimes producing is
- 1:13:48Speaker 1: producing the room, producing an artist, facilitating relationships, knowing who
- 1:13:54Speaker 1: and who needs to work with one another, and that
- 1:13:57Speaker 1: is indeed literally producing. And a lot of the fuckers
- 1:14:00Speaker 1: who think their producers are just making loops. So like,
- 1:14:03Speaker 1: don't call yourself a producer if you're making a loop
- 1:14:06Speaker 1: and you email it to somebody and they then turn
- 1:14:09Speaker 1: that into a hit record because they are the people
- 1:14:12Speaker 1: who are producing the song. You just made a loop.
- 1:14:15Speaker 2: Facts and yeah, for real, loop it.
- 1:14:21Speaker 1: Just call yourself a looper. You're a looper? What was
- 1:14:23Speaker 1: that movie? Wasn't that? Wasn't there a Bruce Willis movie
- 1:14:26Speaker 1: with that was called Looper? It was a Bruce Looper.
- 1:14:29Speaker 1: That's a good producer name. No tell me about the
- 1:14:32Speaker 1: time though, because you were you were like a fisherman
- 1:14:34Speaker 1: right for a little bit. Was this in I was
- 1:14:36Speaker 1: insane man night eighteen nineteen Seattle. I was out of
- 1:14:40Speaker 1: my goddamn gord. Yeah, dude, I fucking jumped on the
- 1:14:43Speaker 1: ground bus five five days up across. Oh my god, bro,
- 1:14:49Speaker 1: I was I wasn't gadzed and acting a fool, like
- 1:14:53Speaker 1: really really really down bad like you've seen on the flow.
- 1:15:00Speaker 1: Of course, that was my life, man. That that that
- 1:15:03Speaker 1: if you if you could, that's the easiest way to
- 1:15:06Speaker 1: describe with somebody the kind of environment that I was in,
- 1:15:10Speaker 1: you know, down to the box chevy. I'm not going
- 1:15:13Speaker 1: to go into details for about things that were going down,
- 1:15:16Speaker 1: but I would just say that it was fucking it
- 1:15:17Speaker 1: was going down.
- 1:15:18Speaker 2: So I jumped.
- 1:15:19Speaker 1: I jumped on the I jumped on the greyhound bus
- 1:15:21Speaker 1: with the thought of getting twenty grand in the season. Somebody,
- 1:15:24Speaker 1: somebody like in Aniston, Alabama, was like.
- 1:15:28Speaker 2: Yo, man, you can get twenty thousand dollars in one month.
- 1:15:32Speaker 1: I was like, twenty thousand dollars, I mean one month
- 1:15:36Speaker 1: for what for fishing? Fuck that shit. I'm going to Seattle.
- 1:15:41Speaker 1: Let's see what's up with this shit. So I scratched
- 1:15:44Speaker 1: up a little bit of change, got on a greyhound bus. Right,
- 1:15:48Speaker 1: had my cousin take me to a greyhound bus at
- 1:15:49Speaker 1: like midnight in Dothan. There were two buses and they
- 1:15:54Speaker 1: both said Washington's keV. You can't make this shuit up.
- 1:15:59Speaker 1: One was DC.
- 1:16:00Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:16:03Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 1:16:04Speaker 1: The bus I got on was going to UH to
- 1:16:07Speaker 1: UH to Washington. So I get on the bus and
- 1:16:11Speaker 1: fall asleep like a rock. Wake up in Atlanta, Georgia,
- 1:16:15Speaker 1: and I'm like it's the wrong direction. Yes, and I'm like,
- 1:16:20Speaker 1: fuck man, like I was, just like, I just told
- 1:16:24Speaker 1: my boy Snake, who was who was traveling with me
- 1:16:27Speaker 1: at the time, because I had befriended him. I was like, Snake,
- 1:16:31Speaker 1: you come with me, Let's go get this bread. So
- 1:16:33Speaker 1: he's with me, and I was like, dude, just don't
- 1:16:36Speaker 1: get off the bus. If we just act like we're asleep,
- 1:16:39Speaker 1: just don't get off the bus. So we did, and
- 1:16:42Speaker 1: we waited all the way up to Chicago, where they
- 1:16:45Speaker 1: made us get off the bus and I talked to
- 1:16:48Speaker 1: that I talked to the managers and we got on
- 1:16:50Speaker 1: the wrong bus. He said, in Alabama, how the fuck
- 1:16:53Speaker 1: did you figure out you was going the wrong way
- 1:16:55Speaker 1: by the time you made it to Chicago. I was like,
- 1:16:59Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 1:17:00Speaker 2: You know, I fucking hustled him.
- 1:17:02Speaker 1: This dude was so cool. He gave me and Snake
- 1:17:05Speaker 1: tickets to get all the way to fucking Seattle, but
- 1:17:08Speaker 1: we went across the north So in short, we were
- 1:17:11Speaker 1: on that bus for five days. I was about to say,
- 1:17:13Speaker 1: you saw the whole country by the time we got
- 1:17:15Speaker 1: to Chicago. Broke zero money, but we got.
- 1:17:22Speaker 3: If that dude didn't give you a break on them tickets,
- 1:17:24Speaker 3: you guys, have it fucked not me full, I'm a
- 1:17:27Speaker 3: I would have figured it out absolutely.
- 1:17:30Speaker 2: I was going to Seattle.
- 1:17:31Speaker 1: Yeah, we figure it out. I promise you I'm going there,
- 1:17:36Speaker 1: so you know I had that determination. So we're broke, right, no, no,
- 1:17:41Speaker 1: no money. So we leave Chicago absolutely no money. Now
- 1:17:45Speaker 1: greyhound makes a stop at gas stations for the for
- 1:17:49Speaker 1: the patrons or the shop what do you call them? Oh, listen, passengers.
- 1:17:54Speaker 1: The first time it was a little sketchy. You're like burrito,
- 1:17:58Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying, Like you fucking like you know,
- 1:18:00Speaker 1: you're kind of racking up a little bit. You get
- 1:18:02Speaker 1: on the bus and kind of munching down. Second time
- 1:18:05Speaker 1: you're like barrito. Third time you're like, fuck this, Shove
- 1:18:11Speaker 1: me a two liter, give me a hat, some fucking jewelry.
- 1:18:14Speaker 1: But by the top, dude, by the time we got
- 1:18:16Speaker 1: to fucking Seattle, man, like, it got so stupid easy.
- 1:18:20Speaker 2: So we ate all the way there. But when I
- 1:18:22Speaker 2: landed in.
- 1:18:24Speaker 1: Seattle New Year's night, two thousand, snowing, greyhound closes nowhere
- 1:18:34Speaker 1: to go on the streets, like sleeping under a church.
- 1:18:36Speaker 2: People, and my home boys state was like fucking why
- 1:18:38Speaker 2: two k almost.
- 1:18:40Speaker 1: Hey, man, okat my grandma, give me a ticket home?
- 1:18:44Speaker 2: I said, what this fool left me? Left me by
- 1:18:48Speaker 2: one day?
- 1:18:49Speaker 1: Five days was a day trip, but after being in Seattle,
- 1:18:52Speaker 1: we was less less than twenty four hours. He was
- 1:18:54Speaker 1: headed back home to Alabama. I can't do this, I
- 1:18:57Speaker 1: was like, bet I'm staying so I fucking like stay
- 1:19:00Speaker 1: by myself on the streets for a while and like
- 1:19:02Speaker 1: homeless life. Oh yeah, where would you sleep anywhere? I
- 1:19:06Speaker 1: could or not sleep at all? Sometimes I feel like
- 1:19:09Speaker 1: Seattle right now it would be a good place to
- 1:19:11Speaker 1: be homeless right now. I don't know, dude. It's terrible.
- 1:19:14Speaker 1: It's terrible. It's the worst. Whether it's the worst, it's
- 1:19:16Speaker 1: the worst place to be homeless. Heard, it's lit out there,
- 1:19:19Speaker 1: like they got lit. They got the fucking the little
- 1:19:21Speaker 1: area that there's like that's what they called it these days.
- 1:19:24Speaker 2: That's what the kids are calling.
- 1:19:26Speaker 1: Very sad, fucking where you're gonna get your next No, No,
- 1:19:31Speaker 1: they got an area there's like no laws. It's like
- 1:19:33Speaker 1: it's it's supposed to be kind of like it's like
- 1:19:35Speaker 1: Hamsterdam from the Wire. Did you say Hamsterdam? Did you
- 1:19:38Speaker 1: ever watch the Wire?
- 1:19:40Speaker 5: No?
- 1:19:40Speaker 1: I never got into it, okay, great shows. Not to
- 1:19:42Speaker 1: disappoint anyone. I've never I know.
- 1:19:44Speaker 2: People love the Wire, people fucking love fucking.
- 1:19:49Speaker 1: I've heard.
- 1:19:49Speaker 2: I didn't watch The Wire. I didn't watch a fucking.
- 1:19:52Speaker 1: Breaking bad No, really little bit of it. I get bored.
- 1:19:56Speaker 2: I get bored. I get watch, but no, get bored.
- 1:20:01Speaker 1: I gotta go. Which show was?
- 1:20:02Speaker 2: Uh, I've never watched a season of anything until It's gone?
- 1:20:06Speaker 5: Was on?
- 1:20:06Speaker 1: What show?
- 1:20:07Speaker 2: Sons of Anarchy?
- 1:20:09Speaker 1: That's it? Great show? Never see like I saw the episode?
- 1:20:13Speaker 1: Never seen it. You didn't see the episode your song
- 1:20:15Speaker 1: played it? Not a single episode of Sons of Anarchy
- 1:20:18Speaker 1: have I ever seen? I'm sure it is. Well, you
- 1:20:23Speaker 1: end up going being homeless in Seattle to being on
- 1:20:25Speaker 1: a boat. So so I'm on the streets and then
- 1:20:31Speaker 1: I started doing like day to days, you know, I mean,
- 1:20:34Speaker 1: like I had that hustle from Gadston, Like you could
- 1:20:38Speaker 1: go up, like you could pull up at four in
- 1:20:39Speaker 1: the morning to like a work for hire spot it's
- 1:20:42Speaker 1: called work for yeah, and they'll give you something to
- 1:20:44Speaker 1: do for the day, whatever it is, yeah.
- 1:20:46Speaker 2: You know, and you get a check at the end
- 1:20:48Speaker 2: of the day.
- 1:20:48Speaker 1: You go cash a check, check cash and spot I
- 1:20:50Speaker 1: had that hustle in my back pocket, so I knew
- 1:20:53Speaker 1: I could do that. So I started doing that to
- 1:20:55Speaker 1: pay for mine. Well, at first it was a hostel.
- 1:21:00Speaker 1: You know, I shared bathroom. My publicist is promoting right now.
- 1:21:07Speaker 2: This is what he does, songs, that's what he does,
- 1:21:11Speaker 2: fucking DJing.
- 1:21:12Speaker 1: Over there the work. So no, no, no, So I'm
- 1:21:17Speaker 1: doing uh, you know, day to day to first play,
- 1:21:21Speaker 1: pay for a hostel, be friend of some other kids,
- 1:21:27Speaker 1: my homeboy Lafayette rest in Peace, who came out and
- 1:21:32Speaker 1: he was out there randomly too, based on the same
- 1:21:35Speaker 1: like dream of that I found him randomly. So we
- 1:21:40Speaker 1: just collected our bread from these day to day jobs
- 1:21:44Speaker 1: and like would get like a room, two beds, but
- 1:21:46Speaker 1: there'll be like seven of us in like a little
- 1:21:48Speaker 1: motel or whatever. And then after work every day was
- 1:21:52Speaker 1: the hustles, go to the docks, knock on doors, you know,
- 1:21:54Speaker 1: they go knock on a voat. So I did that
- 1:21:58Speaker 1: up until the point where should I incriminate myself right now?
- 1:22:04Speaker 1: I mean it's past the statue limitations, is it? Yeah?
- 1:22:07Speaker 1: For sure?
- 1:22:07Speaker 3: Was that twenty years ago, twenty five years ago? It's
- 1:22:10Speaker 3: a ten year thing. I mean, you didn't murder somebody.
- 1:22:12Speaker 1: No, He's like, I can't.
- 1:22:14Speaker 2: No, No, I didn't stole a boat, not for real,
- 1:22:17Speaker 2: but okay, so this is interesting.
- 1:22:20Speaker 1: So one of my hustles as a kid was like,
- 1:22:27Speaker 1: if I was hungry, I would, like, you know, I
- 1:22:31Speaker 1: would call the pizza man or whatever, and then they
- 1:22:35Speaker 1: would pull up and then it was just curtains. Like
- 1:22:38Speaker 1: I would just take everything, you know, the food and
- 1:22:40Speaker 1: everything you know, and I would just say, like, you
- 1:22:43Speaker 1: know whatever, like I used to mask up when I
- 1:22:45Speaker 1: was really young, give me, give me, give me the
- 1:22:49Speaker 1: fucking tip.
- 1:22:50Speaker 2: I've never heard a person in my life, but like it's.
- 1:22:52Speaker 1: Just said, extra cheese, motherfucker. I think stealing food is honorable.
- 1:22:56Speaker 1: It is honorable. Sometimes you got to steal food like
- 1:22:58Speaker 1: Aladdin in the Disney movie.
- 1:23:00Speaker 2: So everybody's hungry, and my hotel.
- 1:23:03Speaker 1: I still still gum every once in a while, just
- 1:23:04Speaker 1: to see if I still got it.
- 1:23:07Speaker 2: I don't steal nothing anymore, every boy.
- 1:23:10Speaker 1: If I'm in a liquor store, well not a liquor store,
- 1:23:12Speaker 1: it's a big chain gas station and the line's crazy,
- 1:23:16Speaker 1: and I got one pack of gum, I just I
- 1:23:18Speaker 1: just might throw it in my pack.
- 1:23:20Speaker 2: Well, yo, I'm out in Seattle.
- 1:23:21Speaker 1: Okay. So, like the whole fucking crew is hungry, like
- 1:23:25Speaker 1: all seven people that are staying this little room is hungry.
- 1:23:27Speaker 1: And I'm like, I got it, don't worry, you know.
- 1:23:33Speaker 1: And so I called. I called the pizza dude. He
- 1:23:36Speaker 1: pulls up and I'm like, man, this is like bold
- 1:23:39Speaker 1: as fuck. I'm so over it. I'm like, just give
- 1:23:43Speaker 1: me the pizza man, like just you know what I mean.
- 1:23:45Speaker 1: I lied to him. I said, there's people in the
- 1:23:47Speaker 1: bushes over here and there they like, trust me, you
- 1:23:50Speaker 1: don't want it, you know. So I like seven pizzas
- 1:23:53Speaker 1: and shit walked in there.
- 1:23:54Speaker 2: It was life of the party.
- 1:23:56Speaker 1: So the next day, next day, my dumb man, I
- 1:24:00Speaker 1: walk outside in the same clothes. Now that pizza man
- 1:24:04Speaker 1: obviously went back and called the cops. Right, so cop
- 1:24:07Speaker 1: rolls by, Like it's in Seattle. They have these like
- 1:24:10Speaker 1: crazy like the interstates that they have these big dividers.
- 1:24:15Speaker 1: But it's weird because there's no it's like a pull
- 1:24:18Speaker 1: off into a gas station. There's no like exit. It's
- 1:24:22Speaker 1: like so but they're like one ways, you know what
- 1:24:25Speaker 1: I mean, one way, this one, like three lanes, this way,
- 1:24:28Speaker 1: three lanes this way, split up, split by dividers. This
- 1:24:33Speaker 1: cop rolls by and there's two people in his car,
- 1:24:35Speaker 1: and he's like and fucking spotlights me as he's rolling by,
- 1:24:40Speaker 1: and I'm like, this was like two in the afternoon,
- 1:24:45Speaker 1: and I'm like, oh, I knew exactly, and I was
- 1:24:49Speaker 1: in trouble.
- 1:24:51Speaker 2: So I fucking run.
- 1:24:52Speaker 1: He goes up and I see him making a right term,
- 1:24:55Speaker 1: but I know that he has no chance to get
- 1:24:57Speaker 1: across to the divider. The divider's too far. Did you
- 1:25:00Speaker 1: play Frogger? Yes?
- 1:25:02Speaker 2: I played Frogger real life Frogger nice and I won.
- 1:25:06Speaker 1: I won it. It was not easy. Almost splat, almost splat.
- 1:25:13Speaker 1: Uh So so I run across the media and jump
- 1:25:17Speaker 1: the median like went to a like a bus stop.
- 1:25:22Speaker 1: Took off my hat I had like a beanie on,
- 1:25:24Speaker 1: took off my hat, my hair I had long hair
- 1:25:26Speaker 1: like past my waist. Took off my hat, my hair
- 1:25:29Speaker 1: found out and passed my wais, took off my jacket,
- 1:25:30Speaker 1: threw it in the bushes, and I just sat there.
- 1:25:33Speaker 1: I just sit there at the bus stop, and that
- 1:25:35Speaker 1: cop rolled right past, didn't didn't put and two together,
- 1:25:39Speaker 1: recognized me because I had long ass hair, and I
- 1:25:41Speaker 1: wasn't wearing the same ass jacket and all that ship.
- 1:25:44Speaker 2: So anyway, I took it so.
- 1:25:47Speaker 1: Long the longer. The short is. I got on the
- 1:25:49Speaker 1: greyhound bus that day and went to the docks and
- 1:25:52Speaker 1: UH got hired immediately. As a matter of fact, they.
- 1:25:55Speaker 2: Were like, do you got anybody else? I was like,
- 1:25:58Speaker 2: we need to the whole room of people.
- 1:25:59Speaker 1: We got seven. They're like, bring them. Did you guys
- 1:26:02Speaker 1: make twenty grand?
- 1:26:04Speaker 2: No, it was a piece of ship. It was a
- 1:26:06Speaker 2: piece of ship.
- 1:26:08Speaker 1: The boat that we got on was left by a
- 1:26:10Speaker 1: Russian UH, a group of Russian fishermen that lost all
- 1:26:15Speaker 1: their money and they left it in Seattle. It got
- 1:26:17Speaker 1: bought by this It was a jump boat. We built
- 1:26:20Speaker 1: the motherfucker on the way out. Imagine me with a welder,
- 1:26:23Speaker 1: did no building this ship? Like you get this welder
- 1:26:28Speaker 1: and weld that ship like fucking like out there, like
- 1:26:31Speaker 1: like like like making the factory on the way to
- 1:26:35Speaker 1: SI while it's going to see like dumping tons of
- 1:26:38Speaker 1: rotten fish out of the bow and.
- 1:26:41Speaker 2: And trash.
- 1:26:42Speaker 1: Captain did that, by the way, that's a fucking ask. No,
- 1:26:46Speaker 1: he made us. We fucking so what kind of were
- 1:26:49Speaker 1: you guys, just any type of fish?
- 1:26:51Speaker 5: Was it?
- 1:26:51Speaker 1: Like fucking codfish mostly, and then like somehow a bit
- 1:26:56Speaker 1: a lot of illegal ship too, because he was a
- 1:26:59Speaker 1: piece of ship. What's in the ocean. You can't fish
- 1:27:02Speaker 1: on the season, like so if you like you can't
- 1:27:04Speaker 1: go out there and like you're dragging a net across
- 1:27:07Speaker 1: the bearing seas, are you gonna get everything? Did you
- 1:27:09Speaker 1: guys get it? Like any dolphins? Dude, like dolphins, fucking
- 1:27:14Speaker 1: octopuss likes. Oh, the eels are fucked up, brodude, the
- 1:27:20Speaker 1: halibits are fucked up. That there was a halibu that
- 1:27:22Speaker 1: got on the boat. And you know, we're fucking young fools,
- 1:27:25Speaker 1: so we're like wrestling this halibit. We're like fucking having
- 1:27:28Speaker 1: challenge and it's fucking this motherfucker jumped on the back
- 1:27:31Speaker 1: of his halibet and broke it. Broke his arm, broke
- 1:27:34Speaker 1: his arm, It pinned him against one of the fucking
- 1:27:36Speaker 1: cleaning things, and like you had to get helicoptered all ship.
- 1:27:39Speaker 1: Speaking of fishing, that whole that whole thing is you
- 1:27:42Speaker 1: know what I want to do, and you you have
- 1:27:45Speaker 1: to tell us where to do it at So me
- 1:27:47Speaker 1: and that Mexicano t we went boar hunting in Texas
- 1:27:50Speaker 1: out of a fucking helicopter with machine guns.
- 1:27:52Speaker 3: It was pretty gnarly. The next thing we want to
- 1:27:54Speaker 3: do and it's can we get some liquor? It's inspired liquor,
- 1:27:59Speaker 3: liquor extra quicker. It's inspired by what I saw you
- 1:28:02Speaker 3: doing with uh was his name, Rambo, your boys mboy,
- 1:28:08Speaker 3: the guy with the pet fucking possum.
- 1:28:10Speaker 1: But you guys were noodling.
- 1:28:13Speaker 2: Oh dude, you don't want no parts of that.
- 1:28:14Speaker 1: It's not fun because we're thinking like we're like, yo,
- 1:28:16Speaker 1: we gotta do another YouTube video where we go where
- 1:28:18Speaker 1: we go fishing or something. And I was like, dude,
- 1:28:21Speaker 1: I remember yellow If used to noodle and he would
- 1:28:24Speaker 1: fucking get on his fucking knees and you'd grab the
- 1:28:26Speaker 1: catfish out of the mud. You know what I realized, man,
- 1:28:30Speaker 1: about myself is that, you know, a lot of that
- 1:28:34Speaker 1: ship is just like yeah, I'll do it because I
- 1:28:39Speaker 1: don't give a fuck.
- 1:28:41Speaker 2: The other part is.
- 1:28:42Speaker 1: I'm too boogie for that ship. I don't want to
- 1:28:44Speaker 1: fucking do that ship. Like dude, Like dude, i'd do
- 1:28:48Speaker 1: like one thing, you know, and like I'm like, man, motherfucker,
- 1:28:53Speaker 1: I'll buy my attacks of durmy, I ain't gonna go
- 1:28:55Speaker 1: sit in the woods in the fucking in the cold,
- 1:28:57Speaker 1: and and like you know, there's a there's this whole
- 1:28:59Speaker 1: thing in country, in the South, in particularly, they always
- 1:29:02Speaker 1: want to tap in on how country you are, how
- 1:29:04Speaker 1: you wait country.
- 1:29:06Speaker 2: You don't do this, you don't do that.
- 1:29:09Speaker 1: Liken't fucking don't test me, mother. I get out there
- 1:29:12Speaker 1: and get bucked with yours, trust me, But I don't
- 1:29:16Speaker 1: like it. I'm cool. You've also gotten to the point
- 1:29:18Speaker 1: in life where you know you're like, hey, I've done it,
- 1:29:20Speaker 1: thank you. I didn't make noodling a habit. Look, okay,
- 1:29:24Speaker 1: imagine this all right, And to some people this is okay.
- 1:29:27Speaker 1: People don't know. Noodling is catching catfish by you're going
- 1:29:30Speaker 1: to describe it, okay, Noodling is when you let's just say,
- 1:29:34Speaker 1: I don't know if anyone who's watching has ever seen
- 1:29:37Speaker 1: like a boat dock. It's like a met It's like
- 1:29:39Speaker 1: a concrete boat dock that goes into a river or
- 1:29:42Speaker 1: a lake. Right, you've seen them. They they they that's
- 1:29:45Speaker 1: how they get their boats into the water. You back
- 1:29:47Speaker 1: your truck hand or whatever. Right, so they're all over
- 1:29:51Speaker 1: the rivers and ship. So up underneath that this is
- 1:29:55Speaker 1: just one place to noodle. There's a lot of place
- 1:29:57Speaker 1: of noodles. But where I was taken was a boat
- 1:29:59Speaker 1: dock or a boat ramp, boat ramp, boat ramp, My bad.
- 1:30:05Speaker 1: So up under that boat ramp there's a gap, you
- 1:30:08Speaker 1: know what I'm saying, where like the water and the
- 1:30:10Speaker 1: mud and the tide and the fucking current has has
- 1:30:14Speaker 1: built a gap. And catfish like to go and bed
- 1:30:17Speaker 1: down in places they can hide, right, and if anything
- 1:30:21Speaker 1: comes in that particular space, they eat it, you know,
- 1:30:24Speaker 1: like they just like It's like it's like you imagine
- 1:30:27Speaker 1: going into a cave and you're like, oh, you just
- 1:30:31Speaker 1: ate up, you know, Like that's how they do it,
- 1:30:34Speaker 1: you know. But so you use your hands as a bait. Okay,
- 1:30:45Speaker 1: it's just your hand is just interference to its space.
- 1:30:50Speaker 1: It's not hungry for your hand. It's just like, get
- 1:30:53Speaker 1: the fuck out of what the fucker what is this?
- 1:30:55Speaker 1: The thing is is to bite your hand. You pull
- 1:30:57Speaker 1: it out, right, Okay. So Cambo is like fucking put
- 1:31:04Speaker 1: your fucking hand in there and fucking pull him out.
- 1:31:07Speaker 1: He'll go under water and he comes back and goes
- 1:31:09Speaker 1: like I got one.
- 1:31:10Speaker 2: There's one in there, and I'm like, dog for real.
- 1:31:15Speaker 1: He's like, no, there's one in there. It's big too,
- 1:31:18Speaker 1: get out in there. And I'm like, fuck, I'm already committed.
- 1:31:21Speaker 1: There's cameras browling this ship. I'm like, fuck. Fuck.
- 1:31:24Speaker 2: So I go up under the water and stick.
- 1:31:26Speaker 1: My hand down in that hole and I feel this
- 1:31:30Speaker 1: slimy bastard's fucking I'm like, ah, I goes. I can't
- 1:31:34Speaker 1: do it, can't do it, can't do it. It's crazy.
- 1:31:36Speaker 1: He's like, nah, just fucking do it. I fucking did it, man.
- 1:31:39Speaker 1: I fucking got down in there. Let him. The sensation
- 1:31:44Speaker 1: of an animal biting you, biting you on the hand
- 1:31:48Speaker 1: is not a good talk. Fuck, take me to the camper,
- 1:31:53Speaker 1: give me my fucking saint lawns. I'm fucking out of here.
- 1:31:56Speaker 5: Bro.
- 1:31:57Speaker 1: Let me know when it's give me my cowboy boots
- 1:32:00Speaker 1: played when it's called nice clean truck. I ain't trying
- 1:32:02Speaker 1: to take my ship, Motherbo out of here. I just
- 1:32:05Speaker 1: that was a real moment for me.
- 1:32:07Speaker 2: I've did a lot with Cambo, though, anything Cambo.
- 1:32:09Speaker 1: Would do, I would do, such a sick following ig
- 1:32:12Speaker 1: walk walk a swamp with him, do anything he wanted
- 1:32:16Speaker 1: to do because I'm about it. I'm about it. If
- 1:32:17Speaker 1: I ain't gonna fucking like didn't try to get him
- 1:32:19Speaker 1: a TV show or wasn't there TV show being worked.
- 1:32:21Speaker 2: On, I gave him a TV show.
- 1:32:22Speaker 1: I got him two million dollars bro crazy, I'm two
- 1:32:25Speaker 1: million dollars, two million dollar budget under.
- 1:32:27Speaker 2: Yeah, we did it.
- 1:32:29Speaker 1: It's a thing.
- 1:32:30Speaker 2: He was making like five bands of show.
- 1:32:32Speaker 1: He spent it all on guns and truck parts. Went
- 1:32:39Speaker 1: Bro love you, Cambo Truth, truth, dark Truth, what a
- 1:32:45Speaker 1: truth Dart? Truth Dart. We call him. Hit you with
- 1:32:47Speaker 1: the truth. He knows it. He don't give a fuck.
- 1:32:50Speaker 1: I love him. He knows what he did. I was
- 1:32:52Speaker 1: gonna ask you. He built like a shack on the
- 1:32:55Speaker 1: river with fucking like old cabin wood and built the fire. Dude.
- 1:33:01Speaker 2: These fools were like he was so crazy, man.
- 1:33:03Speaker 1: This fool was like he was like, oh man, watch this,
- 1:33:06Speaker 1: and fucking like he would let people like shoot guns
- 1:33:08Speaker 1: off his head with like a twenty two Like I
- 1:33:10Speaker 1: don't remember following him, and I'd be uneasy with some
- 1:33:12Speaker 1: of the shit. He was like shoot beer cans off
- 1:33:14Speaker 1: of each other's heads with like twenty two's and shit,
- 1:33:17Speaker 1: no that's missed.
- 1:33:18Speaker 2: That boy was about it, about it.
- 1:33:21Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying, Like Ben here, Ben Trull's.
- 1:33:25Speaker 3: It's interesting because I feel like, you know, like you said,
- 1:33:31Speaker 3: you're not like super paying attention to every single thing
- 1:33:34Speaker 3: that goes on into.
- 1:33:35Speaker 2: Not even super barely barely right, No.
- 1:33:38Speaker 3: But I do wonder, like, you know, I feel like
- 1:33:42Speaker 3: when you first came out, it felt like there was
- 1:33:46Speaker 3: this scramble to be like the the white rapper right
- 1:33:51Speaker 3: as opposed to like just being another rapper, because at
- 1:33:54Speaker 3: that time it was like Eminem and then whoever was next,
- 1:34:01Speaker 3: and then it was like at the time, it felt
- 1:34:03Speaker 3: like there's only room. It's almost like the female rapper
- 1:34:05Speaker 3: thing that happened for a while when Nikki had the
- 1:34:06Speaker 3: crown for so long, and now there's this female But
- 1:34:09Speaker 3: nowadays it feels like the white rapper thing has finally
- 1:34:14Speaker 3: kind of went away in terms of like if someone's dope,
- 1:34:16Speaker 3: they're just.
- 1:34:16Speaker 1: Dope, like like have you noticed that? And then also
- 1:34:19Speaker 1: on the other end of it, there's this like really dark,
- 1:34:21Speaker 1: like weird sub genre of like white boy. Well, I
- 1:34:25Speaker 1: just I just want to speak on female rappers for
- 1:34:27Speaker 1: a second. Hold up, Bahamadia was amazing, Lady Bug from
- 1:34:32Speaker 1: Diggable Planets, uh Rodga, Lady of Rage. Thanks, Gangsta boob
- 1:34:40Speaker 1: rest in Peace, Yes, thank you so much, and fucking
- 1:34:43Speaker 1: like Lauren Hill, Queen Latifa, Yes, thank you. Like I'm
- 1:34:52Speaker 1: not sure Foxy Brown course, yeah, do we say that, Brad,
- 1:34:59Speaker 1: We said it's right, right yeh boss.
- 1:35:04Speaker 4: Ooh.
- 1:35:06Speaker 1: I don't give a fuck, not a single fuck, not
- 1:35:07Speaker 1: a single solitary fuck, remember that shit? Dude? Come on?
- 1:35:11Speaker 1: Uh so, like I I'm not sure where like the
- 1:35:16Speaker 1: culture forgot, but you know, uhr Jazzy Joyce, DJ Jazzy Joyce,
- 1:35:25Speaker 1: you know what I mean, Like, come on, man, like
- 1:35:27Speaker 1: they've they've.
- 1:35:30Speaker 2: Always been present and I don't know.
- 1:35:32Speaker 3: There was that era which was amazing, but I feel
- 1:35:34Speaker 3: like I feel like in like the twenty tens, it
- 1:35:37Speaker 3: felt like there was It was a little harder if
- 1:35:40Speaker 3: you weren't Nikki to have a spot. But nowadays women
- 1:35:43Speaker 3: run hip hop like like, I don't know how much
- 1:35:46Speaker 3: you pay attention, but now the biggest records are all
- 1:35:48Speaker 3: women artists and there's not like, oh, she's the chick
- 1:35:51Speaker 3: of the crew or she's the chick. Uh you know, yeah,
- 1:35:54Speaker 3: we gotta sign a girl. Like you know, back in
- 1:35:56Speaker 3: the day, every crew have like a female, the first
- 1:35:57Speaker 3: lady of whatever label you had. Now days it's like
- 1:36:00Speaker 3: all of the women in hip hop are literally.
- 1:36:03Speaker 1: Oh and also, I say, Blondie, you want to talk
- 1:36:06Speaker 1: about first white rappers? Blondie the Rapture, Yeah, the Rapture, Yeah,
- 1:36:10Speaker 1: come on, if you really want to go there, you
- 1:36:13Speaker 1: know what I mean. Like so like I mean like
- 1:36:16Speaker 1: like it's just like the the press. I don't it's
- 1:36:21Speaker 1: hard for me to digest, like ignoring the presence that's
- 1:36:24Speaker 1: always been there and then saying, oh, now it's this,
- 1:36:27Speaker 1: now it's that. So like what as far as white
- 1:36:29Speaker 1: rappers go, I was just raised on like real shit,
- 1:36:34Speaker 1: you know what I mean. And for the brief time
- 1:36:38Speaker 1: that I was a kid, and I was a fan
- 1:36:40Speaker 1: of Vanilla Ice, right, and then I saw him get
- 1:36:44Speaker 1: called out and then third base called him out and
- 1:36:50Speaker 1: then and then all of a sudden, exactly search so
- 1:36:54Speaker 1: and so I was like, oh fuck, I kind of
- 1:36:58Speaker 1: I caught the okie doke on that one, you know
- 1:37:00Speaker 1: what I mean. I kind of got like played, you
- 1:37:03Speaker 1: know what I mean. Then he got on our senior
- 1:37:06Speaker 1: hall and it was a real rap for me, you
- 1:37:09Speaker 1: know what I mean. And but I had like white
- 1:37:12Speaker 1: rappers around my neighborhood, like Eric mcinally the South Side hustler,
- 1:37:17Speaker 1: you know that at the time, was like a real
- 1:37:19Speaker 1: dope boy, a real street guy, you know what I'm saying,
- 1:37:21Speaker 1: that had like real records on the streets, a white boy.
- 1:37:24Speaker 1: But you know, in Antioch at that particular time, it
- 1:37:29Speaker 1: was like there was a lot of that shit going on.
- 1:37:31Speaker 1: You know, that white boy's rolling around my neighborhood with
- 1:37:35Speaker 1: gold teeth and corn rolls that didn't give a fuck
- 1:37:38Speaker 1: about being a rapper, right There wasn't about hip hop.
- 1:37:41Speaker 1: It was just about what they did and who they were,
- 1:37:44Speaker 1: and so they would tap in and so you really
- 1:37:47Speaker 1: had to check out, you know, like when you're coming
- 1:37:49Speaker 1: around a neighborhood that listened to fucking eight ball, MJG
- 1:37:53Speaker 1: three six, Mafia, Suave House, you know, like that's kind
- 1:37:57Speaker 1: of that runs the gamut, you know around the Tennessee
- 1:38:02Speaker 1: Sound at the time. Uh, you really had to tap
- 1:38:07Speaker 1: in and and and there was no one really doing it,
- 1:38:10Speaker 1: you know. So when I was around again, like hustling flow,
- 1:38:14Speaker 1: you know, you know, you talk about nineteen ninety seven
- 1:38:17Speaker 1: at the Atrium, me pulling up you know, to see
- 1:38:24Speaker 1: through six Mafia and Mystic may be crazy. It was
- 1:38:28Speaker 1: fucking crazy. But let me tell you white boys nowhere
- 1:38:34Speaker 1: nowhere like I, you know what I mean, Like I
- 1:38:36Speaker 1: didn't see ninety, I didn't see any you know, not
- 1:38:40Speaker 1: that I was looking, but it's noticeable, like okay, whatever,
- 1:38:44Speaker 1: But you know it's like but and whom I came with,
- 1:38:47Speaker 1: you know, or my family, you know what I mean,
- 1:38:50Speaker 1: people that I grew up in my neighborhood with.
- 1:38:52Speaker 2: So I was kind of cut from a different crop,
- 1:38:54Speaker 2: you know.
- 1:38:55Speaker 1: I started with my verses in the streets, like you know,
- 1:38:57Speaker 1: like in the projects, like really out of box chevyes,
- 1:39:00Speaker 1: like pulling up to like like like lodges, you know
- 1:39:04Speaker 1: what I mean, like like like the Elks Lodge two
- 1:39:08Speaker 1: thirty one, you know, like that type ship like and
- 1:39:11Speaker 1: like not rap battling per se, but but just circle,
- 1:39:15Speaker 1: like a circle of rappers, you know, back in the day,
- 1:39:18Speaker 1: fucking like when I was coming up you and fucking
- 1:39:21Speaker 1: you know, dis somebody you get slapped up, you know
- 1:39:23Speaker 1: what I mean, Like just wrap your ship, you know,
- 1:39:26Speaker 1: don't well you don't diss me, you know, like just
- 1:39:29Speaker 1: tell your tell your thing, and it was move on.
- 1:39:31Speaker 1: It was Cadillac shit, you know yeah, like like recipes
- 1:39:34Speaker 1: like Pimpseason, like these country rap tunes, you know, so
- 1:39:37Speaker 1: get in there, you know what I mean. So that's
- 1:39:39Speaker 1: kind of the world that I grew up in. And
- 1:39:40Speaker 1: so I was raised, you know, like come on man,
- 1:39:43Speaker 1: like you know, having to go to Bankhead and Bankhead,
- 1:39:47Speaker 1: Georgia and Bessemer Birmingham, Alabama, like popping the trunk on
- 1:39:53Speaker 1: the Chevy and selling selling tapes out of my out
- 1:39:55Speaker 1: of my box Chevy at the gas station and Bessemer
- 1:39:58Speaker 1: like dolo, you know, just so the white boy thing
- 1:40:03Speaker 1: was of course I was aware, but at the same time,
- 1:40:08Speaker 1: like I felt, I always felt.
- 1:40:12Speaker 2: I felt uh worthy, I felt worthy.
- 1:40:17Speaker 1: I mean, you were a hip hop for real, yeah, respectfully. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:40:20Speaker 1: you know, because I had already dug dug down in
- 1:40:22Speaker 1: the graffiti scene, the b boys scene, the skateboarding scene.
- 1:40:27Speaker 1: You know, this is me like as a kid, like
- 1:40:29Speaker 1: doing the like the promotion for the Daylight Soul, and
- 1:40:32Speaker 1: now I had had bumped down, back down it back
- 1:40:34Speaker 1: down to Alabama after kicking it in Harlem with Pete Rock,
- 1:40:41Speaker 1: you know, and and and like I had all this,
- 1:40:43Speaker 1: all these things going on in the hip hop world
- 1:40:45Speaker 1: that I carried back into Alabama because and you're.
- 1:40:49Speaker 3: Doing and you're and you and you're I mean, the
- 1:40:51Speaker 3: thing is is like rac aside, like if you're gonna
- 1:40:54Speaker 3: move with integrity and like high artistic value in this game,
- 1:40:58Speaker 3: like you know, that's why you've had the longevity you've had,
- 1:41:01Speaker 3: Like you know, it's it's it feels like a lot
- 1:41:03Speaker 3: of the ship that I'll see nowadays in like this
- 1:41:05Speaker 3: weird like sub genre like underbelly of like what you
- 1:41:09Speaker 3: would call white hip hop is like just weird.
- 1:41:12Speaker 1: Short term pandem Is it even a thing?
- 1:41:14Speaker 5: Though?
- 1:41:14Speaker 1: It's a thang, bro, It's a thang for sure. White
- 1:41:16Speaker 1: hip hop is a thing that the fucking the like
- 1:41:19Speaker 1: there's like a little like weird little fucking pocket bro
- 1:41:22Speaker 1: where motherfucker's is like is it like it has it been?
- 1:41:25Speaker 2: Like has it has it?
- 1:41:28Speaker 5: What?
- 1:41:29Speaker 2: So there's a whay do I fall in that in
- 1:41:32Speaker 2: your opinion? If you could say, like, oh.
- 1:41:33Speaker 1: I think you're I think I think that you're perceived
- 1:41:35Speaker 1: to be like bigger than that whole, like an artist,
- 1:41:39Speaker 1: an actual art fucking like yeah, like a real artist. Yeah,
- 1:41:43Speaker 1: so I think that's why you know, that's tough.
- 1:41:46Speaker 3: Yeah, because I mean, lookten, dude, at the end of
- 1:41:48Speaker 3: the day, like there there's you know, I think longevity
- 1:41:53Speaker 3: is the key.
- 1:41:55Speaker 1: You know, You've you've had twenty five years.
- 1:41:58Speaker 3: If you go back to when you were on that
- 1:42:00Speaker 3: fucking TV show, when you were contestant on that TV show,
- 1:42:03Speaker 3: was hear me.
- 1:42:03Speaker 2: Shock the world right now?
- 1:42:04Speaker 1: Go ahead? I'm not really white? What are your native? Yeah,
- 1:42:09Speaker 1: I'm part Native American, Blackfoot, and Cherokee. I'm not a
- 1:42:13Speaker 1: full blooded white boy. The reason why I took on
- 1:42:15Speaker 1: the whiteboard, Moniker, is because I was called a white boy.
- 1:42:18Speaker 1: That's it. And if I'm called that and you want
- 1:42:21Speaker 1: me to be that, then I'm gonna use it to
- 1:42:23Speaker 1: my strength. I'm not a fucking Caucasian from the Caucasus
- 1:42:28Speaker 1: mountains with not from fucking Norway, dog like like I
- 1:42:32Speaker 1: grew up in the gutter of Alabama, you know, part
- 1:42:35Speaker 1: Native American, you know, And that's what yellow Wolf is. Idiot, Like,
- 1:42:40Speaker 1: come on, you couldn't see past that. You think I
- 1:42:43Speaker 1: got red tattooed on my neck because I'm a red neck.
- 1:42:45Speaker 1: I got red tattooed on my neck because that's what
- 1:42:49Speaker 1: you said. It was ironic. It was ironic tattoo. Yeah,
- 1:42:51Speaker 1: that's what you said. That's the If you put that
- 1:42:54Speaker 1: stereotype on me, then I'm gonna run with it. And
- 1:42:57Speaker 1: you know, but you know I but then it became affectionate,
- 1:43:03Speaker 1: like oh, white boy, white boy, white boy, white boy.
- 1:43:07Speaker 1: I fuck it. I used to get pissed. When I
- 1:43:10Speaker 1: was a kid, was like fifteen, sixteen years old.
- 1:43:13Speaker 2: It was fight music.
- 1:43:14Speaker 1: If you said that to me, well, I feel like
- 1:43:16Speaker 1: you carried like a boulder.
- 1:43:17Speaker 3: On your shoulder against all the other white rappers for
- 1:43:19Speaker 3: like at least a few years when you first came out, Well,
- 1:43:22Speaker 3: it just became like if you like, if like And
- 1:43:24Speaker 3: then Mac Miller happened, and Mac Miller was like, this
- 1:43:27Speaker 3: is Mac Miller.
- 1:43:27Speaker 1: He's like the coolest dude ever. Like, we love Mac.
- 1:43:29Speaker 1: Mac was the best. Mac is the best dude. I'm
- 1:43:34Speaker 1: rest in peace, man. I just took this down, and
- 1:43:36Speaker 1: I gotta hate it somewhere else.
- 1:43:37Speaker 2: I love Max so much.
- 1:43:38Speaker 1: When Mac passed, dude, I was so hurt from that
- 1:43:43Speaker 1: that I gave away everything I owned. That's a true story.
- 1:43:47Speaker 1: Wait wait, explain. I gave away every article of clothing
- 1:43:50Speaker 1: that I owned when Mac when Mac passed the next day,
- 1:43:53Speaker 1: just because I felt like I needed to do something nice, like.
- 1:43:56Speaker 2: Dude, that kid.
- 1:43:59Speaker 1: I mean, no one really knew how cool he and
- 1:44:04Speaker 1: I really were because we didn't do music, you know
- 1:44:06Speaker 1: what I'm saying.
- 1:44:07Speaker 2: But like that kid was like.
- 1:44:10Speaker 1: When we first kicked it, he it was the cipher.
- 1:44:15Speaker 1: It wasn't even a cipher. It was like a freestyle
- 1:44:17Speaker 1: for the Double Excel cover, right, so like everybody did,
- 1:44:20Speaker 1: everybody had their verse, right yeah, and Mac, dude, he
- 1:44:23Speaker 1: might have been god nineteen.
- 1:44:27Speaker 2: I mean he was young a kid.
- 1:44:28Speaker 1: He was a kid for real.
- 1:44:30Speaker 9: And I pulled a cigarette out and like we were
- 1:44:33Speaker 9: chilling his lip. He's like, oh, that's what we're doing,
- 1:44:37Speaker 9: you know. He pulled a cigarette and he bucking lit
- 1:44:39Speaker 9: a cigarette up. Oh like and it was like a
- 1:44:43Speaker 9: very like a like affectionate kind of like like almost
- 1:44:48Speaker 9: an instant big brother role, you know what I mean,
- 1:44:50Speaker 9: Like all right, dude, like let's go.
- 1:44:53Speaker 1: You know, I see you, you know. And he went
- 1:44:57Speaker 1: on to make incredible music, obviously amazing time music, and uh,
- 1:45:02Speaker 1: like we've done tours together, dude, shows like fucking I've
- 1:45:05Speaker 1: done shows with Mac and the Swiss Alps bro like
- 1:45:09Speaker 1: like we were. That was my homie. Man.
- 1:45:12Speaker 2: So anyway, when he passed.
- 1:45:15Speaker 1: And I had just text him like weeks before, just
- 1:45:20Speaker 1: tapping in, you know what I mean, And when he passed,
- 1:45:23Speaker 1: I was like, Man, I'm just I just need to
- 1:45:27Speaker 1: I need to purge, you know what I mean, Like
- 1:45:30Speaker 1: I've got too much. You know, I've got too much.
- 1:45:34Speaker 1: I have too many things, like I didn't feel worthy of.
- 1:45:38Speaker 1: Sometimes having too much shit can bog you down mentally,
- 1:45:41Speaker 1: too nah for real. So I just took all my
- 1:45:44Speaker 1: ship and put it on hangers and set it outside
- 1:45:46Speaker 1: my store and I told everybody I put it on Instagram,
- 1:45:49Speaker 1: come get it. You come get an outfit, you know,
- 1:45:52Speaker 1: like jewelry, hats, shoes, clothes, everything I gave away, like man,
- 1:45:56Speaker 1: I don't know like one hundred thousand dollars worth of
- 1:45:59Speaker 1: fucking fashion, just dumped it all and started over, started
- 1:46:03Speaker 1: my my collection.
- 1:46:04Speaker 3: Over Rest in Peace, Man, Rest in peace to Mac.
- 1:46:08Speaker 3: Before we wrap, I want to go through a couple
- 1:46:10Speaker 3: of quick hits. One would be uh one Train, which
- 1:46:14Speaker 3: is one of the most probably the last great hip
- 1:46:17Speaker 3: hop posse cut.
- 1:46:18Speaker 1: We've gotten you murdered it obviously, what was when you
- 1:46:25Speaker 1: got it? Did you know who was on it? No,
- 1:46:29Speaker 1: here's the beat. Do what you do? So ASA sent
- 1:46:33Speaker 1: me the track like per Rocky, Yeah, send me the
- 1:46:39Speaker 1: track personally.
- 1:46:42Speaker 2: Through a text, and uh.
- 1:46:46Speaker 1: So I jumped on it like of course, like whatever,
- 1:46:49Speaker 1: like we you know, and look, I don't do features
- 1:46:54Speaker 1: because I I think there's some kind of win or
- 1:46:59Speaker 1: some kind of that's that's never the thing. I really
- 1:47:02Speaker 1: have to like the track. I like the track one two.
- 1:47:06Speaker 1: It was my boy, you know, we we had been
- 1:47:08Speaker 1: through Europe and doing shows together and ship like that,
- 1:47:13Speaker 1: and so yeah, I hopped on it. I had no
- 1:47:16Speaker 1: clue what he had planned or what was in his
- 1:47:19Speaker 1: back pocket. Now had I known, you would have a
- 1:47:23Speaker 1: different raisier, like if I could size up. But I'm
- 1:47:26Speaker 1: sure everyone thought that, you know what I mean. I'm
- 1:47:28Speaker 1: sure every maybe he did that to everyone. He probably did,
- 1:47:32Speaker 1: and which is genius. But when I heard everyone else's verse,
- 1:47:40Speaker 1: I was like, ooh, the is going crazy. Who do
- 1:47:44Speaker 1: you think if you remove yourself from the equation? Who
- 1:47:47Speaker 1: had no?
- 1:47:47Speaker 5: No?
- 1:47:48Speaker 1: I your favorite? Even with myself in the equation, Big
- 1:47:51Speaker 1: Critt killed it, krit crit like come on, man, Like
- 1:47:59Speaker 1: I was like Krik killed it period. I mean that's
- 1:48:02Speaker 1: just my opinion. I mean, I love my verse. I
- 1:48:04Speaker 1: think I snapped on majority and like, you know, I
- 1:48:09Speaker 1: say that like in the sport of hip hop, you know,
- 1:48:11Speaker 1: the competition between all MC's and shit, like, oh yeah,
- 1:48:14Speaker 1: I got created on that one.
- 1:48:15Speaker 2: But the truth is, like I really feel like he
- 1:48:17Speaker 2: closed it properly.
- 1:48:20Speaker 3: Segueing to the next thing, why did we never get
- 1:48:22Speaker 3: country cousins between you and grit.
- 1:48:27Speaker 1: And did it?
- 1:48:28Speaker 4: Did it?
- 1:48:28Speaker 1: Was there ever any songs recorded for that?
- 1:48:31Speaker 2: Well at the height of like you know, just like
- 1:48:35Speaker 2: at the height of.
- 1:48:40Speaker 1: There are some like cultural and there's there's a cultural
- 1:48:47Speaker 1: importance to a project like me and Krick coming together, right,
- 1:48:51Speaker 1: you know, And I think that there there there's a
- 1:48:54Speaker 1: time and a place for that. I don't make excuses
- 1:48:58Speaker 1: about why we haven't done that project yet, and I
- 1:49:03Speaker 1: can't predict when we might do that project because I
- 1:49:06Speaker 1: won't put it off the books. I love crit I'm
- 1:49:10Speaker 1: a huge, huge fan. Obviously, he was early early on
- 1:49:15Speaker 1: and the crew, you know what I mean, like early
- 1:49:17Speaker 1: early like Tree Sound, Tree Sound Atlanta early, and uh
- 1:49:23Speaker 1: so I just let it happen, you know. But I
- 1:49:26Speaker 1: think that there's like, I think that he and I
- 1:49:29Speaker 1: both appreciate the importance of what that record means. It's
- 1:49:33Speaker 1: not it's not just not just the collaboration. I think
- 1:49:38Speaker 1: that there's some artistic cultural importance to that particular collaboration.
- 1:49:43Speaker 1: Sure that means something, and I think it needs it needs.
- 1:49:47Speaker 1: I mean because Krit was hearing trunk music was the
- 1:49:49Speaker 1: same year. Yeah, because you could take it lightly. But
- 1:49:52Speaker 1: the record we did, the record, the record we did
- 1:49:55Speaker 1: do Happy Birthday hip Hop amazing as a statement record.
- 1:50:03Speaker 3: How's your relationship these days with our psychopathic friend Ritz
- 1:50:07Speaker 3: over there?
- 1:50:07Speaker 1: I got his plaques over there, our psychopathic friend. I
- 1:50:13Speaker 1: love Rich to the to the grit. Rich is my
- 1:50:18Speaker 1: Rich is my dog. I mean, you know, hey, man,
- 1:50:21Speaker 1: he's a maniac. Artists is going to be artists man like,
- 1:50:24Speaker 1: and I'm a maniac too. I just have you eat
- 1:50:26Speaker 1: your maniacs, by the way, in your own way, like
- 1:50:30Speaker 1: my dad said. My dad said, everybody has their own
- 1:50:34Speaker 1: brand of crazy, you know, and that's what's up. You know,
- 1:50:37Speaker 1: Like I like my crazy. I feed it and take
- 1:50:42Speaker 1: care of it, you know. Like I'm looking forward to
- 1:50:45Speaker 1: like when Rich is like able to like I'm.
- 1:50:48Speaker 2: Trying to get him to sing.
- 1:50:49Speaker 1: keV No, he could sing. He can't sing, but it's
- 1:50:52Speaker 1: come to Nashville and record a singer songwriter album with me. Please,
- 1:50:57Speaker 1: I'm putting it on the record. I've told you that
- 1:50:59Speaker 1: over the phone. Now I'm saying in the podcast. I've
- 1:51:01Speaker 1: been trying to all the fans that are watching, Yo,
- 1:51:04Speaker 1: I don't want to hear you rap no more. I
- 1:51:06Speaker 1: want to hear some singing. BRIT's time singing, Buddy, time
- 1:51:08Speaker 1: to sing with a little bit of rapping. And I
- 1:51:11Speaker 1: want him to do like a He's a great singer,
- 1:51:15Speaker 1: he is. He could sing his ass off. He's always
- 1:51:16Speaker 1: been singing as he could play the guitar like a
- 1:51:19Speaker 1: motherfucker too. By the way, Yeah, yeah, like crazy, let's
- 1:51:24Speaker 1: let's go. Let's do a fucking secret songwriter album man
- 1:51:27Speaker 1: like do something different, No, for.
- 1:51:29Speaker 3: Sure, shout out to ritz Man Albums coming out in May.
- 1:51:34Speaker 3: How many videos are in the can?
- 1:51:36Speaker 1: Five? I already got five? Okay? Is that? Are you
- 1:51:38Speaker 1: gonna keep shooting if it feels right or we'll see
- 1:51:42Speaker 1: what like, We're gonna shoot five videos right and just
- 1:51:46Speaker 1: from the from the pat just learning releases and ship
- 1:51:49Speaker 1: like I want to like, I want to let the
- 1:51:51Speaker 1: fans tell us, like, Hey, if this song goes fucking
- 1:51:55Speaker 1: crazy takes off, shoot a video to this, Like.
- 1:51:58Speaker 2: Yeah, just let us know, Like, let us know what
- 1:52:00Speaker 2: you want to see.
- 1:52:01Speaker 1: We've picked our personal faves and what we thought led
- 1:52:05Speaker 1: led you into a war story the best way. But
- 1:52:08Speaker 1: after that, I really do want to listen and and
- 1:52:12Speaker 1: basically like kind of take a poll, you know, like
- 1:52:15Speaker 1: what do you want to see next? Because I've fucked
- 1:52:18Speaker 1: up so many times by not shooting videos to songs
- 1:52:20Speaker 1: that I should have. Catfish Billy, Oh such a good Hey,
- 1:52:23Speaker 1: Tennessee love no video. You know, it's funny. There's a
- 1:52:27Speaker 1: lot of classics with no Videofish Billy.
- 1:52:28Speaker 3: I just think of like this fucking boat floating with
- 1:52:31Speaker 3: all your belongings in like a dark like I think
- 1:52:34Speaker 3: of like a fucking lantern, you know what I mean.
- 1:52:36Speaker 3: Like that's probably the best mash pit song. Fucking dude,
- 1:52:39Speaker 3: that song makes me want to fuck motherfucker's up.
- 1:52:41Speaker 10: Bro.
- 1:52:42Speaker 3: That's like my workout joint, bro. Like Halffish Billy. And
- 1:52:44Speaker 3: when you perform that shit live violence.

- 1:53:25Speaker 1: He told me to keep you late. He was like,
- 1:53:27Speaker 1: if I'm on a four, make sure he stays. I
- 1:53:29Speaker 1: want to say hi to him. Man, I'm not leaving, good, good,
- 1:53:33Speaker 1: I'm not leaving.
- 1:53:34Speaker 2: I have to meet this guy in person. I'm fucking
- 1:53:37Speaker 2: I'm a huge fan of.
- 1:53:39Speaker 1: To meet him. Okay, so we got time, go ahead.
- 1:53:45Speaker 1: So I'm so psyched to meet Mexican Ot. Man, he's sick.

- 2:01:32Speaker 1: You know.
- 2:01:34Speaker 2: Whatever it's not it's not to me. It's water under
- 2:01:37Speaker 2: the bridge.
- 2:01:37Speaker 1: Good. I thought of another random thing.
- 2:01:40Speaker 3: When you did Worldwide Choppers with Tech, did you know
- 2:01:43Speaker 3: there was gonna be people wrapping in like Turkish and
- 2:01:45Speaker 3: fucking all kinds of fucking wild ass languages on that ship.
- 2:01:49Speaker 1: Speaking to Posse Records, that shit went platinum. There's a
- 2:01:53Speaker 1: Turkish verse.
- 2:01:54Speaker 4: Yeah, the beginning. There's a dude who's like that, no way, Yeah,
- 2:02:04Speaker 4: it's platinum.
- 2:02:05Speaker 1: You're on it. It's platin.
- 2:02:06Speaker 2: I never even I never, I never heard it.
- 2:02:09Speaker 1: I only recorded my verse.

- 2:02:19Speaker 1: bunch of other dudes to expect bro, I fucking like,
- 2:02:22Speaker 1: just fucking you send me some ship. Sometimes I'm like
- 2:02:26Speaker 1: and then I go, fucking I'm out. Yeah, I don't like,
- 2:02:29Speaker 1: you need to get a plaque sent to you. You're
- 2:02:31Speaker 1: on the song. It's placked. Let me tell you. One
- 2:02:35Speaker 1: of my biggest regrets what is that with with Tech nine?
- 2:02:40Speaker 1: I got a few, but musically one of them is
- 2:02:46Speaker 1: Tech nine sent me a record and he said, he said, hey,
- 2:02:49Speaker 1: I won't meet you and Kendrick on this song. Yes,
- 2:02:53Speaker 1: it's called Fragile. And I was like, I listened to
- 2:02:58Speaker 1: it and I was like, man, I don't know if
- 2:03:04Speaker 1: I can talk about being fragile, because I don't feel
- 2:03:08Speaker 1: genuinely fragile, and I don't know if I am.
- 2:03:12Speaker 2: Maybe I am, but I at the time, I was like, I.
- 2:03:19Speaker 1: Could not connect with the concept of like admitting that
- 2:03:24Speaker 1: I have a problem with someone not liking my music,
- 2:03:27Speaker 1: you know what I mean? Because it was really for
- 2:03:29Speaker 1: people I haven't heard the record.
- 2:03:30Speaker 3: It was really like an ode to negative journalistic opinions
- 2:03:33Speaker 3: on our critics, critics, like a fuck you to critics, essentially.
- 2:03:37Speaker 1: Exactly, Man, do I wish I would have just you know,
- 2:03:43Speaker 1: I actually laid a verse I did. I recorded a
- 2:03:47Speaker 1: verse and never sent it. So I have a verse
- 2:03:51Speaker 1: in my in my hard drive on Fragile with with
- 2:03:56Speaker 1: Kendrick and and Tech nine, but I never returned to
- 2:04:00Speaker 1: them that had been crazy and look in these and
- 2:04:03Speaker 1: these and then like you know, fast forward Saturday Night Live.
- 2:04:11Speaker 2: Hey, listen to you kids, don't.
- 2:04:17Speaker 4: Just do it.

- 2:04:43Speaker 1: What do you mean? Oh bro?
- 2:04:48Speaker 5: Uh?
- 2:04:49Speaker 1: LP sent me a song when I was making Trump
- 2:04:51Speaker 1: Music three, Trump Music three. Yeah, and so did Ritz
- 2:04:57Speaker 1: And I was so I was so wrapped out, you
- 2:05:02Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. I was like so versed to death.
- 2:05:05Speaker 1: Right after making that, I was like, I'm like tapped.
- 2:05:08Speaker 1: I've tapped right everything I have to offer as an
- 2:05:11Speaker 1: MC to do this, Like, I don't got it. Man,
- 2:05:17Speaker 1: missed the opportunity to be on the Run the Jewels record,
- 2:05:19Speaker 1: like like ship that, Like that's an opportunity that's always open.
- 2:05:25Speaker 1: I'm sure, though, Well, you know I've I've kicked it.

- 2:05:39Speaker 4: You know.
- 2:05:39Speaker 1: I was around for some of their earliest sessions at
- 2:05:42Speaker 1: Tree Sound again, like when they were probably working on
- 2:05:44Speaker 1: rap music. Oh, yeah. Yeah, like before it happens the
- 2:05:47Speaker 1: thing thing. Yeah, it had been crazy. You want one
- 2:05:53Speaker 1: of them fucking bro them fucking Run the Jewels, fucking albums,
- 2:05:56Speaker 1: all four fucking crazy amazing. I hate myself for not
- 2:06:01Speaker 1: doing that.

- 2:06:05Speaker 2: just wasn't.
- 2:06:05Speaker 4: Yo.
- 2:06:06Speaker 1: So Ritz is like, Yo, give me a rat verse,

- 2:06:09Speaker 1: that he's coming out with, uh with Tech, okay, right,
- 2:06:13Speaker 1: and I'm like, oh, you talking about like a couple
- 2:06:15Speaker 1: of albums, like when he was on he was on Strange. Yeah,
- 2:06:19Speaker 1: I gave him the worst verse his first album, one
- 2:06:25Speaker 1: of my careers, Like, like, you mean the song you
- 2:06:27Speaker 1: did with him on your on his first Soul Late terrible. Yeah,
- 2:06:30Speaker 1: I remember he hated No, he was like, dude, fucking
- 2:06:34Speaker 1: and then Wolf gives me this fucking throwaway verse and
- 2:06:38Speaker 1: it made the album because of course his first album
- 2:06:41Speaker 1: needs to have you on it.
- 2:06:42Speaker 2: He's like, he's like, he's like, you have to be
- 2:06:45Speaker 2: on this.

- 2:13:35Speaker 1: I told you about Josh Spice. No, no, no, Jos's
- 2:13:38Speaker 1: cool shots o G. I'm talking about the fucking violent

- 2:13:48Speaker 1: tripping out, worst trip of my night, like of my life.
- 2:13:52Speaker 1: So I'm on, I'm on all the edibles in the world, right,
- 2:13:55Speaker 1: Rich is opening up for you. I'm standing in the crowd.
- 2:13:58Speaker 1: My legs are cemented to the floor. I can't move.

- 2:14:06Speaker 1: I go outside. I'm puking on the side of the venue.
- 2:14:09Speaker 1: I'm just throwing up profusely. Right, And I walk back in,
- 2:14:14Speaker 1: and for whatever reason, like when I'm tripping hard, all
- 2:14:17Speaker 1: of the ship that would make someone's trip really bad
- 2:14:21Speaker 1: happening in real life around them always happens to me. Right,
- 2:14:24Speaker 1: So I got some Native American dude trying to check
- 2:14:26Speaker 1: me about being white on stolen land. Outside, going to
- 2:14:29Speaker 1: the fucking backstage of the venue, and Brooklyn's beating the
- 2:14:33Speaker 1: ship out of some guy on the side of the stage.
- 2:14:35Speaker 1: We wait, is this the observatory? No, this isn't Arizona.
- 2:14:39Speaker 2: This is this is how many times this happened.
- 2:14:41Speaker 1: This is the clubhouse. I don't wonder which venue. This
- 2:14:44Speaker 1: is the clubhouse in Arizona. And so I'm sitting on
- 2:14:47Speaker 1: the couch and this fucking dude just getting the ship
- 2:14:49Speaker 1: rocked out of him right in front of me. And
- 2:14:51Speaker 1: I don't know how real it is because I'm fucked,
- 2:14:56Speaker 1: and that dude's a gnarly dude. Little dude, but like
- 2:14:59Speaker 1: not even a little dude, but like not like as
- 2:15:00Speaker 1: big of a dude as you'd expect to be throwing
- 2:15:03Speaker 1: the way he was throwing, like normal size guy.
- 2:15:06Speaker 8: You know.
- 2:15:07Speaker 1: No, Brooklyn was a savage. Savage. Yeah, that's crazy. Yeah,
- 2:15:11Speaker 1: he's a maniac. Yeah, good time, the best time tour
- 2:15:14Speaker 1: coming ish, Yeah, spot. I'm not I'm not into torn
- 2:15:17Speaker 1: right now. Man, I'm telling you, I'm just like I'm.
- 2:15:21Speaker 3: You had ruptured your spleen skydiving, right, that's crowded guy,
- 2:15:25Speaker 3: crowd crowded.
- 2:15:26Speaker 1: In a way. Yeah yeah, in Los Angeles, and that
- 2:15:30Speaker 1: had stopped you from doing more of that? Correct? I?
- 2:15:34Speaker 1: Well no it didn't. It didn't stop me, but did it? Got?
- 2:15:38Speaker 1: I got this tattoo it said calm down. I was
- 2:15:41Speaker 1: in ICU for fucking four days and assisted living for
- 2:15:44Speaker 1: two weeks. They I had signed a death papers for
- 2:15:49Speaker 1: that that injury. Like they were like, if you die,
- 2:15:51Speaker 1: we're not responsible. Type of ship I was on dolt
- 2:15:54Speaker 1: of and ship and then I and then I left
- 2:15:57Speaker 1: that assisted living and went straight to the airport to
- 2:16:00Speaker 1: Australia for a tour. Fuck and ah, man, I mean,
- 2:16:09Speaker 1: I'm cool, I'm cool on like I just look, man,
- 2:16:14Speaker 1: you're not gonna climb to the top of the venue
- 2:16:15Speaker 1: and do a fucking flying elbow off of it. I
- 2:16:19Speaker 1: mean I might, yeah, you know, I mean, what better
- 2:16:22Speaker 1: way to go out? Honestly, I mean, dude, when I
- 2:16:27Speaker 1: ruptured my spleen, what happened is I landed on a
- 2:16:30Speaker 1: dude's face and his nosebone went into my spleen. So
- 2:16:37Speaker 1: I like dove off of like fucking ten feet in
- 2:16:43Speaker 1: Los Angeles. Actually I don't know what venue it was,
- 2:16:46Speaker 1: so that dude was fucked up, but everybody's hands were
- 2:16:49Speaker 1: up and this dude turned around like.
- 2:16:53Speaker 2: Fucking splattered his nose.
- 2:16:54Speaker 1: He was so stoked, he was so happy. No, wow,
- 2:16:58Speaker 1: good for him for him being a real one. Twenty
- 2:17:01Speaker 1: twenty four. That happens. They're getting fucking too. I've been
- 2:17:04Speaker 1: superfore for what that that ship that happened at Observatory,
- 2:17:10Speaker 1: What happened? How was happening at a few of your
- 2:17:13Speaker 1: shows there? Now that that full jumped on stage and
- 2:17:15Speaker 1: pulled me down. It was on like all like, what
- 2:17:19Speaker 1: is it all hip hop or whatever?
- 2:17:20Speaker 3: I remember the vlog you had where someone stepped on
- 2:17:22Speaker 3: your bus and you clocked them. You remember that on
- 2:17:24Speaker 3: the bus stairs? What was that like twelve years ago?
- 2:17:28Speaker 1: Do you remember that? It was on one of your vlogs,
- 2:17:30Speaker 1: like on your YouTube channel. Some fools some food was
- 2:17:33Speaker 1: trying to get on the bus and you just fucking
- 2:17:35Speaker 1: lay Yeah, yeah, for sure.
- 2:17:37Speaker 2: But that that shit happened the loss you having an observatory.
- 2:17:40Speaker 1: I got pulled down by my overalls. It was like
- 2:17:42Speaker 1: a it's not no, it's all Star, No, not all
- 2:17:47Speaker 1: Star world Star. Was this that ship and they posed
- 2:17:51Speaker 1: it up but it blew up on ward Star or whatever?
- 2:17:53Speaker 1: I like, was this the show that the jelly and
- 2:17:56Speaker 1: struggle opened up on? No, no, no, people go okay,
- 2:17:59Speaker 1: But anyway, Brooklyn was there. Yeah, the point is Brooklyn
- 2:18:04Speaker 1: was there. I got a lawsuit. Shit I threw. I
- 2:18:09Speaker 1: threw a bottle of this idiot who was who was
- 2:18:13Speaker 1: trying to beat me up? Basically, and yeah, I got

- 2:19:19Speaker 1: would you? That was a moment like be like, yo,
- 2:19:23Speaker 1: let's print another Newport hoodie. Might print some skateboards or
- 2:19:27Speaker 1: some shit, but oh Newport, dude, he's got his own
- 2:19:29Speaker 1: skate shop. He's great man, Magic City, Miami. We had
- 2:19:35Speaker 1: If you are getting down to Miami and you want

- 2:19:42Speaker 1: got a great skateboard shop, you know, popping.
- 2:19:45Speaker 3: Would you ever do any movies or try to maybe
- 2:19:49Speaker 3: like write a pilot for a TV show based on
- 2:19:52Speaker 3: some of your life or any of your fucking why
- 2:19:54Speaker 3: do you.
- 2:19:54Speaker 1: Ask so many things that have such long answers.
- 2:19:58Speaker 3: Well, because we're waiting for that Mexicano t his handler
- 2:20:00Speaker 3: just got here, the gay man in the corner over there.
- 2:20:02Speaker 1: Well, first of all, I've done my first feature film.
- 2:20:05Speaker 1: It's called Peter Peanut Butter Falcon with Sealah Buff Dakota. Zach.
- 2:20:11Speaker 1: You used to check it out, Okay I didn't. I
- 2:20:13Speaker 1: haven't seen that. When I didn't, we'll fucking stop sleeping on,
- 2:20:17Speaker 1: stop sleeping. Got some bars, he definitely does, got bars,
- 2:20:21Speaker 1: but not now this role. Oh John Hawks, you know
- 2:20:24Speaker 1: what I mean, like like crew crew. But the movie
- 2:20:29Speaker 1: is called Peanut Butter Falconi movie. That's also a sick
- 2:20:33Speaker 1: band name. It's a great movie. Zach is starring in
- 2:20:40Speaker 1: it and the story is what got me about the role.
- 2:20:46Speaker 1: But I was fresh out of rehab, dude, like, and
- 2:20:49Speaker 1: my role is called rat boy and pooh boy. Did
- 2:20:53Speaker 1: I own that?
- 2:20:54Speaker 5: You know? So?
- 2:20:55Speaker 1: I fucking that was my first role and only role.
- 2:20:59Speaker 1: But I just say down with Shannon from Average Joe's
- 2:21:02Speaker 1: who they just did Old Henry And if you haven't
- 2:21:07Speaker 1: seen Old Henry, please do yourself a favorite. Check that movie.
- 2:21:10Speaker 1: I was brilliant Old Henry. So we're working on some things.
- 2:21:15Speaker 1: I mean, we'll see. I'm just not a fucking artist
- 2:21:19Speaker 1: that wants to do film for film's sake. I like
- 2:21:22Speaker 1: rad shit, like I like how like most Death did
- 2:21:26Speaker 1: it right get out. He just got the Italian job
- 2:21:30Speaker 1: to be Henrie Wind. You know, he just picked great
- 2:21:33Speaker 1: roles and he had a very like he was very
- 2:21:37Speaker 1: tasteful about how he approached it, you know, and it
- 2:21:41Speaker 1: was somehow it seemed like on brand for what you
- 2:21:45Speaker 1: would appreciate from from him most deaf, you know what
- 2:21:48Speaker 1: I'm saying. So I would like to do it like that.
- 2:21:50Speaker 1: Another artist who did it is like Dwight Yoakum. Dwight
- 2:21:52Speaker 1: Yoakum did it very tastefully. I feel like too. From
- 2:21:55Speaker 1: from like music to film legend. So I'm just trying
- 2:21:58Speaker 1: to make that like transition and like gracefully. I get
- 2:22:02Speaker 1: rolls all the time, but it's always like some love interests,
- 2:22:04Speaker 1: like fucking weird, just romantic comedy, like the fuck.
- 2:22:10Speaker 9: Out of here.
- 2:22:10Speaker 1: I don't want to do a romantic comedy like I
- 2:22:12Speaker 1: want some fucking gnarly shit. Let's get gnarly.
- 2:22:17Speaker 2: Let's get gnarly in twenty.
- 2:22:18Speaker 1: Four, Gnarly twenty twenty four.
- 2:22:21Speaker 2: I gotta fucking piss like a raise me too.
- 2:22:23Speaker 1: What's in the fucking podcast? The podcast just ended. It's over. Now,
- 2:22:26Speaker 1: it's over. Wait, what's the May seventeenth? May seventeenth War story?
- 2:22:32Speaker 1: The double album is out, Thank you my god. keV, Hey,
- 2:22:35Speaker 1: you're going to introduce me to os. Yeah, he'll be
- 2:22:37Speaker 1: here in a second. Yeah,
