- 0:02Speaker 1: This is an Unspoiled Network podcast. This is spoil Me,
- 0:09Speaker 1: covering one Piece episodes six two through six ' twenty four.
- 0:17Speaker 1: A touching reunion Momonosuke and Kinemon. It's time to say goodbye,
- 0:23Speaker 1: leaving Punk Hazard the G five wiped out do Flamingo's
- 0:29Speaker 1: sudden attack. In these episodes, our friends get on the road,
- 0:37Speaker 1: and I am reminded that nobody else knew about this
- 0:41Speaker 1: alliance except for Nonny between Lufy and Trafalgar Law. Oops.
- 0:53Speaker 1: Welcome to spoil Me. Welcome to the show everyone. I
- 1:15Speaker 1: am Natasha. Thank you to Michael for commissioning this episode. Yeah,
- 1:23Speaker 1: this was a surprise, you guys. I had totally forgotten
- 1:27Speaker 1: that nobody else was there, and for some reason, I've
- 1:31Speaker 1: just been sort of operating like, well, of course, there
- 1:34Speaker 1: has been some sort of communication, right that everybody is
- 1:39Speaker 1: now up to speed on the fact that we are
- 1:41Speaker 1: working together for this thing, because probably Lufy just sent
- 1:46Speaker 1: out a quick text message or something in the midst
- 1:49Speaker 1: of the fight and just got everybody up to speed.
- 1:53Speaker 1: I sincerely do not know where my head was at,
- 1:57Speaker 1: you guys. It's it would be funny if it weren't embarrassing.
- 2:03Speaker 1: But yeah, so the revelations later when they come were very,
- 2:08Speaker 1: very funny to me. So the beginning of episode six
- 2:14Speaker 1: twenty two has everybody together, hanging out and getting ready
- 2:21Speaker 1: to like say goodbye to each other, but celebrate first.
- 2:28Speaker 1: Sanji is enlisting Brooke to help him build a fire
- 2:31Speaker 1: pit because he is going to you know, obviously be
- 2:36Speaker 1: cooking for a large group of people. Here we find
- 2:40Speaker 1: out that Brownbeard was offered if he uh, I'm trying
- 2:46Speaker 1: to find the exact wording here, so because he has
- 2:50Speaker 1: been offered a treatment for the poison that he has
- 2:54Speaker 1: been given by Caesar if he goes to prison and
- 3:01Speaker 1: like doesn't try to just bail and run away, and
- 3:05Speaker 1: he says I would rather rotten prison than die as
- 3:08Speaker 1: his guinea pig. And I don't have any of my
- 3:11Speaker 1: people left here. And when he says I don't have
- 3:17Speaker 1: any of my people left here, I really thought we
- 3:20Speaker 1: were going to have a moment of him being like, yeah,
- 3:24Speaker 1: everybody's gone. This sucks, but it's almost without any pause
- 3:30Speaker 1: at all that he then jumps into saying to Lufy,
- 3:33Speaker 1: it was pretty great to watch you clock Caesar though,
- 3:36Speaker 1: And I had to laugh because sometimes this show is
- 3:40Speaker 1: so all over the place when it decides on how
- 3:43Speaker 1: it's going to handle emotion. There are times where a
- 3:48Speaker 1: person is just absolutely gutted, and we spend a way
- 3:53Speaker 1: more time on it than we should, and the camera
- 3:56Speaker 1: and the you know that music that always plays boom
- 4:00Speaker 1: boom boom boo bom bomb, and then we have like
- 4:07Speaker 1: the sort of flashback as they think about the face
- 4:12Speaker 1: of their long dead friend and the terrible things we've
- 4:15Speaker 1: been through, you know that. That happens so often. And
- 4:18Speaker 1: then we have things like this where somebody has just
- 4:21Speaker 1: watched all of their friends die and found out that
- 4:24Speaker 1: the person they have been working for for literally years
- 4:27Speaker 1: is a scoundrel who's been poisoning them and they just
- 4:30Speaker 1: bounce back and it's fine. I'm not even mad. I
- 4:35Speaker 1: just think it's funny. But yeah, this, uh, this is
- 4:40Speaker 1: pretty much apparently like the wrap up for brown Beard
- 4:44Speaker 1: and Loofy or no, it's Nam. She has been told
- 4:51Speaker 1: that we're going to hand the children over to the
- 4:54Speaker 1: Navy and is kind of incredulous about this, and Tashi
- 5:00Speaker 1: is like, yeah, well that's like, what do you mean,
- 5:05Speaker 1: why are you upset about it? And Nam another instance,
- 5:11Speaker 1: you guys of me not really thinking things through entirely,
- 5:17Speaker 1: nam is like, are you fucking high? All of these
- 5:23Speaker 1: children were only kidnapped because the Navy didn't give a fuck,
- 5:30Speaker 1: like y'all were basically complicit in all of it. A
- 5:35Speaker 1: vice admiral was the one that was like in charge,
- 5:40Speaker 1: and you want me, after going through all of this
- 5:43Speaker 1: to save them, to fucking hand them back over to you.
- 5:48Speaker 1: I promised them that I would help, and I am
- 5:52Speaker 1: not going to break my promise. I will save them.
- 5:56Speaker 1: And as she is like ranting, she has her eyes
- 6:00Speaker 1: closed because she's just so upset that she's trying to
- 6:03Speaker 1: kind of rain her temper in, And when she opens
- 6:08Speaker 1: her eyes, Tashigi is bowing in front of her, and basically,
- 6:15Speaker 1: Tashiki says, all of that is correct. We fucked up real,
- 6:21Speaker 1: real bad. Please let us correct it, because if we
- 6:27Speaker 1: aren't able to do something right by these children, I
- 6:30Speaker 1: don't know how I'm going to be able to sleep
- 6:32Speaker 1: at night, basically, And I really liked this moment. Although
- 6:37Speaker 1: although although the fact that it's always the women characters
- 6:44Speaker 1: that wind up being the ones that are like the
- 6:46Speaker 1: caretakers of the child characters is a little bit trying,
- 6:53Speaker 1: it's fine whatever but yeah I did. I did really
- 6:57Speaker 1: like this moment, and just the fact that like I
- 7:00Speaker 1: hadn't considered it from that perspective and realizing Nami is
- 7:04Speaker 1: completely fucking correct. It kind of reminded me of the
- 7:08Speaker 1: moment when I was just prepared to welcome USAP back
- 7:11Speaker 1: to the club and then Zorro had to be the
- 7:15Speaker 1: one to be like, yeah, boy was a real fucking
- 7:19Speaker 1: like disloyal peace. Actually, maybe we shouldn't just let him
- 7:22Speaker 1: back in like it was nothing, because you know, sometimes
- 7:27Speaker 1: I lose sight of things, and I know that these
- 7:31Speaker 1: particular members of the Navy weren't necessarily in on the
- 7:35Speaker 1: whole thing. But I did get to see the flashbacks
- 7:38Speaker 1: to the members of the Navy who were told about
- 7:40Speaker 1: these kids disappearing and didn't do anything or seemed to
- 7:45Speaker 1: even care and said lost at sea when the children
- 7:49Speaker 1: were on land. So you know, I think Nami can
- 7:55Speaker 1: be forgiven for her retocence here. So yeah, I did
- 8:02Speaker 1: like this moment. And then jumping forward, we have you guys,
- 8:06Speaker 1: Frankie and his hair. This is such a it's such
- 8:11Speaker 1: a fun little like background running joke. I'm like, I
- 8:17Speaker 1: don't think I quite realized that the joke was simply
- 8:21Speaker 1: going to be that every time he's on camera, we're
- 8:24Speaker 1: doing a new thing. Until this episode, it was just
- 8:30Speaker 1: every time we come back to him, his hair is
- 8:33Speaker 1: doing another weird and wild thing. And I finally I
- 8:39Speaker 1: think that previously, due to the fact that we were
- 8:42Speaker 1: in the midst of like a fight, you know, and
- 8:46Speaker 1: and there was there were enemies, and he was bringing
- 8:49Speaker 1: out like weapons and stuff, I think that I was
- 8:52Speaker 1: under this impression that his hair would change along with
- 8:56Speaker 1: whatever weapon he was using or pulling out of his
- 9:01Speaker 1: weird robot body. And seeing this time that we're just
- 9:06Speaker 1: out here like mending the mast and fixing a few things,
- 9:09Speaker 1: and it's still changing all over the place, I was
- 9:13Speaker 1: finally like, oh, oh, we're just doing this to do this.
- 9:17Speaker 1: This has nothing to do with like his his powers
- 9:20Speaker 1: or anything like that. And now I find it really
- 9:23Speaker 1: funny and also like the the directions that we go
- 9:28Speaker 1: with it in there's in this moment it's sort of
- 9:31Speaker 1: just two pointed tips like cat ears, but later on
- 9:36Speaker 1: it's sort of giving like a Teddy Bear sort of
- 9:39Speaker 1: look just all over the place. So then we have
- 9:45Speaker 1: this sequence where Trafalgar Law has been left with the kids,
- 9:51Speaker 1: and he tells Chopper to like, stay out there, I'm
- 9:56Speaker 1: going to take care of this, and overhears the kids
- 10:03Speaker 1: like yelling in like these weird sounds. So he disobeys
- 10:07Speaker 1: and goes running in because he is a good boy
- 10:11Speaker 1: who wants the best for everybody, and unfortunately apparently was
- 10:16Speaker 1: not updated on what Trafalgar's abilities are. So he sees
- 10:24Speaker 1: Trafalgar just slicing these children into pieces, and very understandably
- 10:33Speaker 1: in my opinion, loses his mind and runs to Loofy
- 10:40Speaker 1: saying that Trafalgar is committing murder and please do something.
- 10:46Speaker 1: When he does this, he unfortunately startles the hell out
- 10:52Speaker 1: of Brook, who knocks over the samurai who has been petrified,
- 10:58Speaker 1: and your boy just breaks into a bunch of pieces.
- 11:03Speaker 1: And so now Brooke is yelling that he himself is
- 11:05Speaker 1: also a murderer. Well, you guys, it's such a weird
- 11:12Speaker 1: the way this goes. So first of all, we find
- 11:15Speaker 1: out that Trafalgar cut the kids up because that was
- 11:22Speaker 1: the fastest way to get the drug out of their system.
- 11:30Speaker 1: Ah No, I just don't really feel like that is
- 11:41Speaker 1: explained adequately like the way he says it. The implication
- 11:49Speaker 1: to me is I cut them open, and therefore all
- 11:58Speaker 1: of the drug just pours out of their bodies, separate
- 12:04Speaker 1: from their blood. I just felt this just felt wacky
- 12:09Speaker 1: to me, and like we had to have one last
- 12:12Speaker 1: moment of wondering whether Trafalgar was actually like a good
- 12:17Speaker 1: guy or not. And it's fine. It was just it
- 12:22Speaker 1: was the explanation. I thought it was going to be
- 12:25Speaker 1: more convincing, because they can't do that. Occasionally on this show,
- 12:30Speaker 1: they'll pull something out that I'm like, you know what,
- 12:32Speaker 1: all right, I'll give it to you. I cannot in
- 12:35Speaker 1: good conscience give it to him on this one. It
- 12:39Speaker 1: just I don't think so. So back to the Samurai
- 12:44Speaker 1: when Brooke is like, well, what do I do to
- 12:47Speaker 1: fix him? And Lufy says, well, what if we gloo
- 12:50Speaker 1: him back together? San Shei's like, how are you to
- 12:53Speaker 1: not understanding that he is dead? And as they are
- 12:57Speaker 1: standing there, this begins to crack and it breaks apart,
- 13:03Speaker 1: and the Samurai pops out and he is just fine,
- 13:08Speaker 1: and Sanji kicks him in the face. Guys, Brookes says,
- 13:15Speaker 1: why are you kicking him? And he says, why wouldn't
- 13:18Speaker 1: I We were just discussing how he's dead and now
- 13:23Speaker 1: he's not. It was a reflex. Oh my god, that
- 13:33Speaker 1: one was quite good. So y'all know I was under
- 13:41Speaker 1: no illusions about this. I knew once I saw that
- 13:45Speaker 1: all that was happening to our guys was that they
- 13:48Speaker 1: were going to be frozen by this weird fog. I knew,
- 13:54Speaker 1: of course, we are doing this so that there is
- 13:57Speaker 1: an easy way to undo it so that everybody is fine.
- 14:03Speaker 1: And I that is not what I have a problem with.
- 14:07Speaker 1: I just I really think if all it is is
- 14:16Speaker 1: a casing around them that they were alive inside, and
- 14:21Speaker 1: all that has to happen is it gets broken open
- 14:25Speaker 1: and they're fine. I really feel like Caesar Clown wasn't
- 14:31Speaker 1: thinking ahead enough about how he was going to explain
- 14:35Speaker 1: this to a potential buyer, because eventually I think it's
- 14:42Speaker 1: I can't remember who is it is it says, but
- 14:44Speaker 1: they're like Caesar told me about the one weakness of
- 14:50Speaker 1: the gas, and I really wanted to laugh, because that
- 14:55Speaker 1: is not one weakness. That is the gas not doing
- 14:59Speaker 1: at all what you said it did. If everybody out
- 15:03Speaker 1: there is still technically alive, but just in a sort
- 15:06Speaker 1: of coma or vegetative state, you're literally naming this gas
- 15:13Speaker 1: Land of the Dead, and all these dudes just get
- 15:18Speaker 1: tipped over by somebody and they're fine, They're alive. Like,
- 15:24Speaker 1: granted there's a time limit on it. We find out
- 15:27Speaker 1: later when some of the guys go and rescue dudes
- 15:30Speaker 1: that were told to take off their hazmat suits and stuff.
- 15:34Speaker 1: But like, it just feels so much weaker than I
- 15:40Speaker 1: was even ready for because you know, like I said,
- 15:43Speaker 1: I knew, of course that this has got to be undone,
- 15:46Speaker 1: but it just the ease of this. I thought at
- 15:50Speaker 1: least it was going to be some sort of like
- 15:55Speaker 1: maybe another gas that they have to be surrounded in
- 15:58Speaker 1: that would like melt away the stone, something that would
- 16:03Speaker 1: be that would allow for this damage to be undone,
- 16:10Speaker 1: but wouldn't be immediately accessible to an enemy, you know,
- 16:15Speaker 1: something that they wouldn't know how to formulate, that would
- 16:18Speaker 1: be kind of hidden and then we could just like
- 16:23Speaker 1: there could be a way out that you don't just
- 16:28Speaker 1: do accidentally. So I am going to call major, major
- 16:34Speaker 1: bullshit on this as the wrap up for this arc
- 16:37Speaker 1: because it Caesar clown in the end, of course he
- 16:43Speaker 1: gets got that's what we're doing with villains, but he
- 16:46Speaker 1: has been pretty like sensible overall in a lot of
- 16:51Speaker 1: the ways that he has handled things, and the idea
- 16:54Speaker 1: that he would formulate a gas that only calcifies a
- 16:59Speaker 1: shell around people but does no more harm than that
- 17:03Speaker 1: unless they're stuck in there for a very long time,
- 17:07Speaker 1: and then he would try and sell it to some
- 17:09Speaker 1: of the most dangerous people in the world and they
- 17:14Speaker 1: would be satisfied with it. I just cannot buy it.
- 17:19Speaker 1: This doesn't make any sense. It's such a silly weakness.
- 17:23Speaker 1: Please let it be something that you like, inject them
- 17:26Speaker 1: with anything that feels somewhat proprietary, you know. So anyway
- 17:32Speaker 1: that is that leads to the reunion between the samurai
- 17:41Speaker 1: and his son, who is the dragon who I had
- 17:45Speaker 1: completely forgotten that this kid can voluntarily turned back into
- 17:49Speaker 1: a person because he has a devil fruit power. I
- 17:52Speaker 1: keep thinking of it as that some weird drug was
- 17:56Speaker 1: given to him and made him into a dragon, and
- 17:58Speaker 1: forgetting that he can just be like a person when
- 18:02Speaker 1: his power, you know, when he's using it correctly. So, yeah,
- 18:09Speaker 1: the two of them. The kid is like buck ass
- 18:12Speaker 1: naked when he turns back into a person, but his
- 18:14Speaker 1: father's gift means that he can just have his uh
- 18:18Speaker 1: clothing like made for him right there. It's great, and
- 18:23Speaker 1: the kid when he gets clothed again then collapses and
- 18:30Speaker 1: he tries to say, it's not a big deal. I'm
- 18:34Speaker 1: not even hungry. So we get this like scene later
- 18:39Speaker 1: and I don't remember. I'm pretty sure that eventually we
- 18:44Speaker 1: saw this earlier with the samurai where he was refusing
- 18:50Speaker 1: food just because it came from pirates, and I guess
- 18:56Speaker 1: that is meant to be what is happening here with
- 18:58Speaker 1: this kid, but it just felt kind of weird because like,
- 19:04Speaker 1: at least when he was refusing food earlier, the samurai
- 19:07Speaker 1: had only just met them and didn't really know what
- 19:11Speaker 1: was happening, you know, and so he hadn't been given
- 19:17Speaker 1: a chance to get the measure of them yet and
- 19:20Speaker 1: understand like these people are decent and just relax and
- 19:25Speaker 1: trust them for a second. And so this kid, having
- 19:30Speaker 1: gone through everything that he has and basically having his
- 19:33Speaker 1: life saved by Loofy, refusing to eat the food and
- 19:38Speaker 1: almost like chucking it on the ground. I was just like,
- 19:43Speaker 1: my guy, I really feel like we have gotten past
- 19:47Speaker 1: the point where you need to be like mistrustful of
- 19:49Speaker 1: these people. Now. I really love Sanji's reaction. You guys
- 19:56Speaker 1: know that even though Sanji really gets on my nerves
- 20:01Speaker 1: and does some things that I do not approve of,
- 20:03Speaker 1: every now and then he really speaks to my heart
- 20:06Speaker 1: and his attitude about wasting food. When I saw that
- 20:11Speaker 1: kid lift the bowl of a food that Sonji has
- 20:14Speaker 1: just poured a bunch of time into creating and get
- 20:17Speaker 1: ready to throw it on the floor, I was so irritated,
- 20:21Speaker 1: like ahead of time. So when Sonji manages to stop him,
- 20:24Speaker 1: I was like, thank God and basically tells the kid,
- 20:29Speaker 1: I will wrench your head off your neck if you
- 20:34Speaker 1: dare to waste a drop of this? What the fuck
- 20:37Speaker 1: is wrong with you? The kid is continuing to refuse
- 20:43Speaker 1: to cooperate until his father sits down and begins to really,
- 20:50Speaker 1: I want to say eat, but really it's more Gorge himself,
- 20:54Speaker 1: which I have no problem with. For the record, and
- 21:01Speaker 1: the moment here of like the kid deciding to open
- 21:05Speaker 1: up and trust these guys and realize that his father
- 21:08Speaker 1: has grown to trust them, I feel like there was
- 21:12Speaker 1: just look, I'm just gonna say ahead of time, guys
- 21:15Speaker 1: that there were some things in these episodes that worked
- 21:19Speaker 1: for me, and there were some things that really really didn't.
- 21:22Speaker 1: This is one of the things that didn't work for
- 21:25Speaker 1: me because it feels once again like we're stretching things
- 21:29Speaker 1: out in a way that isn't It doesn't even really
- 21:32Speaker 1: make narrative sense. At this point, we should be on
- 21:35Speaker 1: the same side. And then later on when we have
- 21:39Speaker 1: the whole thing with the navy yelling about how the
- 21:42Speaker 1: kids shouldn't want to say goodbye to the pirates because
- 21:46Speaker 1: they're bad guys. Eventually when we come to the conclusion
- 21:51Speaker 1: of that, when all of the G five guys are saying, well,
- 21:55Speaker 1: we have to say this stuff or else we might
- 21:57Speaker 1: start liking them. I really liked that as the conclusion
- 22:01Speaker 1: of the thing, and it made some sense in that respect,
- 22:06Speaker 1: but it takes us ages to get there. It takes
- 22:10Speaker 1: absolute ages and so much repetition, so much of like
- 22:18Speaker 1: just slow pans across the faces of the members of
- 22:22Speaker 1: the G five all saying these different like you know
- 22:26Speaker 1: what I'm saying, various versions of you can't trust these assholes,
- 22:31Speaker 1: and the G five are great, the navies where it's at,
- 22:35Speaker 1: whatever it is. It was just over and over and
- 22:39Speaker 1: over again. It just felt like we were getting essentially
- 22:43Speaker 1: the same line, and I couldn't. It just gets so tedious, y'all.
- 22:52Speaker 1: And I have to say, I know that I have
- 22:55Speaker 1: complained before about some of the ways in which the
- 23:02Speaker 1: show stretches things out, but there was a mention it
- 23:07Speaker 1: might have been Seraphem in the discord, about how they're
- 23:11Speaker 1: going to be doing an edit on the Fishman Island
- 23:16Speaker 1: and remastering it, and they're going to edit it down
- 23:22Speaker 1: from something like almost forty episodes to like twenty. They're
- 23:27Speaker 1: basically going to have it, and I'm so like, simultaneously,
- 23:34Speaker 1: I'm relieved that they're doing this, and I also it
- 23:41Speaker 1: was accompanied by additional news that I think Saraphim said
- 23:45Speaker 1: that they are going to give up on trying to
- 23:48Speaker 1: keep up with the manga and they're going to be
- 23:51Speaker 1: taking a break for a little while, and I'm so
- 23:57Speaker 1: relieved to hear that. It just felt really when you
- 24:02Speaker 1: guys were explaining to me how it worked and that
- 24:05Speaker 1: we were just like stretching things because that we wanted
- 24:09Speaker 1: the timing to be the same between this and that
- 24:13Speaker 1: it it like ideally, sure that would be great, but
- 24:17Speaker 1: it just felt like it was not serving the story
- 24:21Speaker 1: at all, and I was puzzled at the fact that
- 24:25Speaker 1: they seemed to be so preoccupied with making sure that
- 24:29Speaker 1: these things lined up, when ultimately it felt like it
- 24:34Speaker 1: just kind of fucked everything up. It fucked up the
- 24:38Speaker 1: rhythm of the story, It fucked up like the way
- 24:41Speaker 1: that I saw certain characters sometimes. And it sounding like
- 24:46Speaker 1: maybe we're going to start to get away from that
- 24:49Speaker 1: a little bit more. I may be like giving them
- 24:57Speaker 1: a little bit too much credit here, you know, I
- 25:00Speaker 1: acknowledge that, but I want to believe that there's also
- 25:07Speaker 1: like a bit more pushback against the it seems sort
- 25:12Speaker 1: of breakneck pace that Oda was being forced to write at,
- 25:18Speaker 1: and the fact that the show kept nipping at his
- 25:22Speaker 1: heels and having to be stretched out to make up
- 25:25Speaker 1: for gaps with the manga, that they were like sort
- 25:28Speaker 1: of holding that against him in a way that just
- 25:31Speaker 1: seemed unsustainable and unfair. And I really hope that the
- 25:36Speaker 1: fact they're pulling away on that a little bit is
- 25:39Speaker 1: a signal that maybe things are going to begin to
- 25:43Speaker 1: get more reasonable, because overall, it seems like ever since
- 25:48Speaker 1: the writer's strike, you have started to really see people
- 25:52Speaker 1: begin to take a bit more notice of how the
- 25:56Speaker 1: workers behind the scenes of favor properties and stuff are
- 26:01Speaker 1: being treated like everybody loved the Spider Verse movies, and
- 26:06Speaker 1: then they found out that, like the animators were being
- 26:12Speaker 1: pushed to work like fifteen hour days every day with
- 26:17Speaker 1: no days off for like three months in a row,
- 26:21Speaker 1: and practically needing to be hospitalized afterwards because they were
- 26:26Speaker 1: so exhausted. And it was just because we wanted the
- 26:30Speaker 1: movie out by this date. For what is it worth,
- 26:37Speaker 1: you know, like, do you really think that you're gonna
- 26:39Speaker 1: make less money on this wildly popular franchise movie if
- 26:45Speaker 1: you just release it six months later than you were
- 26:50Speaker 1: intending to release it. And just the number of edits
- 26:55Speaker 1: that they were forced to do without like things being
- 26:58Speaker 1: consulted with each other, so there was a lot of
- 27:00Speaker 1: overlapping work to correct things that somebody else had supposedly
- 27:04Speaker 1: already corrected. So it was just it was just a
- 27:07Speaker 1: huge waste of time and man hours and putting people
- 27:10Speaker 1: through a lot, and just because the timing they had
- 27:15Speaker 1: like this idea in their head of when the perfect
- 27:17Speaker 1: timing would be with no consideration on whether that was
- 27:20Speaker 1: actually possible or healthy for the people working for them.
- 27:24Speaker 1: So I would like to think that maybe these changes
- 27:29Speaker 1: are the start of something a little bit healthier, and
- 27:33Speaker 1: I don't know it's possible that, like I know that
- 27:36Speaker 1: Oda is of course like getting older. Maybe they're also
- 27:40Speaker 1: trying to prepare for him not being around, although I
- 27:43Speaker 1: assume somebody else will take up the pen and continue
- 27:46Speaker 1: after him. I don't feel like I've franchise this enormous
- 27:50Speaker 1: just gets dropped, right, But it would be nice they would,
- 27:57Speaker 1: like I said, I'm probably given them more credit and
- 28:00Speaker 1: they really deserve, but it would be really lovely if
- 28:05Speaker 1: we could see this trend, you know, in more places
- 28:10Speaker 1: and find out that it is coming from us beginning
- 28:13Speaker 1: to actually give a shit about the well being of
- 28:18Speaker 1: the creators behind some of our favorite stuff. That's all
- 28:22Speaker 1: I'm saying. So all of these fucking G five guys,
- 28:30Speaker 1: they begin to paint this line down the middle of
- 28:34Speaker 1: the dock and insists that like, you guys can't cross
- 28:38Speaker 1: it because you're pirates and you're bad guys. But once
- 28:41Speaker 1: they smell Sanjeese cooking, they immediately just set aside they're
- 28:48Speaker 1: misgivings about these guys and are just like, hey, what's up,
- 28:52Speaker 1: do you need anything? And temporarily this whole feud is
- 28:58Speaker 1: sort of put off, So that we can have our
- 29:01Speaker 1: party together, and Trafalgar comes out and says to Loofy,
- 29:10Speaker 1: we shouldn't even be doing this, dude, Like, we've got
- 29:14Speaker 1: a bunch of the other navy guys that are going
- 29:17Speaker 1: to be on our tail. And also, of course we've
- 29:21Speaker 1: got joker like. We don't have time to hang around
- 29:27Speaker 1: and eat and party. We've got to take off. So
- 29:32Speaker 1: Lufy says, all right, everybody, I'll let him know, and
- 29:36Speaker 1: he just heals out, listen up, guys, we've got trouble
- 29:39Speaker 1: heading our way. We're out of time, so party fast
- 29:43Speaker 1: and hard, dig in and get down, and I really
- 29:47Speaker 1: love it. He doesn't say, like, no party, He just says,
- 29:51Speaker 1: let's go for it as hard as possible. Yet another
- 29:56Speaker 1: moment of Trafalgar Law standing there open mouthed, really thinking
- 30:01Speaker 1: that he knew what was gonna happen. Bruh, it's your
- 30:05Speaker 1: own fault at this point. You have got to start
- 30:08Speaker 1: making these announcements yourself, my guy, It is too late
- 30:13Speaker 1: for you to start being in fucking surprise Pikachu face
- 30:16Speaker 1: when Lufy doesn't fucking listen to you. You have had
- 30:20Speaker 1: every warning and example that you could ask for. You
- 30:25Speaker 1: know what this guy is about by now do it yourself.
- 30:29Speaker 1: I am not sorry for you. That is all on you.
- 30:34Speaker 1: So yeah, everybody begins to drink and recover. I completely
- 30:40Speaker 1: like endorse this, even though I do have the anxiety
- 30:44Speaker 1: of these people. I love when the samuraized kid is
- 30:50Speaker 1: just continuing to eat and is crying, and he says,
- 30:55Speaker 1: a true warrior shouldn't allow themselves to weep in front
- 30:59Speaker 1: of others. Fucking Loofy pops up with the chopsticks in
- 31:03Speaker 1: his nose and Momo says, what are you doing, Lufy?
- 31:09Speaker 1: And he says, we're having a crazy party. Why are
- 31:12Speaker 1: you crying? You gotta laugh it up, buddy, And he
- 31:16Speaker 1: just keeps doing that and gets Momo laughing. It's such
- 31:20Speaker 1: a I wanted like his father to say something about
- 31:23Speaker 1: how it's absolutely fine for him to cry in front
- 31:25Speaker 1: of people, but it just gets completely cut off. So
- 31:31Speaker 1: this is when oosup. He's showing off what Frankie can
- 31:36Speaker 1: do to the kids and presses on his nose to
- 31:39Speaker 1: make his hair do that like Teddy Bear thing. That's
- 31:43Speaker 1: when his ears sort of round off, and Tashigi is
- 31:49Speaker 1: trying to soup pleasantly surprised by it. Sanji is stirring
- 31:54Speaker 1: and has the most giant salt shaker I have ever seen.
- 32:01Speaker 1: It's very weird to me that we have this giant
- 32:03Speaker 1: salt shaker, but you know what, I like it. Let's
- 32:07Speaker 1: do it. So we see like the huge line of
- 32:12Speaker 1: people and everybody seeming to have like started to recover,
- 32:15Speaker 1: and eventually we go over to Mocha and she finally
- 32:20Speaker 1: wakes up and of course turns out to be all
- 32:24Speaker 1: right ultimately and is able to join all of their friends. So,
- 32:31Speaker 1: you guys, there is this moment let's see, Oh yeah,
- 32:36Speaker 1: here comes the Marines come over to Smoker and they say,
- 32:39Speaker 1: we're taking a team back to Caesar's lab. We force
- 32:43Speaker 1: Caesar to tell us the gas is weakness. All our
- 32:46Speaker 1: guys are still alive, and then we have this quick
- 32:52Speaker 1: shot of Caesar with like pincers in his face to
- 32:57Speaker 1: suggest that they all just tortured this guy for a minute.
- 33:03Speaker 1: And I was genuinely like, this is kind of fucked up, guys, wow,
- 33:08Speaker 1: Like I was just not expecting for it to be.
- 33:12Speaker 1: So there's not really much blood except there's a little
- 33:16Speaker 1: blood coming from Caesar's nose, but that was like there already,
- 33:20Speaker 1: so it just seemed it was just a bit more
- 33:25Speaker 1: vivid a visual on what they did to him than
- 33:30Speaker 1: I was really expecting. Of course, Also Caesar is just
- 33:35Speaker 1: being like, why Smoker's still alive? How does this even work?
- 33:40Speaker 1: So let's see, I'm trying to make sure I don't
- 33:43Speaker 1: miss anything from the very tail end of this episode.
- 33:46Speaker 1: Oh right, I forgot, because he says to Trafalgar, Hey, bro,
- 33:52Speaker 1: I know I made you a promise, but you have
- 33:55Speaker 1: to know that I am not going to keep it.
- 33:57Speaker 1: You're a pirate, I'm navy, that's my job. But if
- 34:01Speaker 1: you wanted to keep me fucking quiet, you would have
- 34:04Speaker 1: killed me, and you haven't. So I'm assuming that you
- 34:07Speaker 1: know what's going on here. And Trafalgar says, like, because
- 34:15Speaker 1: Smoker asks, how are you using Strawhat? And Trafalgar says,
- 34:18Speaker 1: using him? What makes you think he's not using me?
- 34:23Speaker 1: And we get a flashback to the moment where he
- 34:28Speaker 1: has explained about like killing one of the emperors, and
- 34:33Speaker 1: Lufy is saying there's four of them, so which one
- 34:36Speaker 1: are we going to go after? And Trafalgar law he's
- 34:44Speaker 1: he says, if you really need to know, I'm talking
- 34:47Speaker 1: about Kaido, King of the beasts. The fact that he says,
- 34:52Speaker 1: if you really need to know really made me laugh,
- 34:56Speaker 1: because yeah, he really needs to know. God, you're about
- 35:01Speaker 1: to enter into an alleged partnership to take a guy down.
- 35:06Speaker 1: You don't think he should know which of them you're
- 35:09Speaker 1: aiming to take down. You don't think that's sort of
- 35:12Speaker 1: crucial information that he shouldn't even really have had to
- 35:15Speaker 1: ask what are you doing? What do you what? Why
- 35:19Speaker 1: are the hesitation in the first place? Like, and Lufy says,
- 35:25Speaker 1: as long as Shanks isn't first, I'm cool with that,
- 35:28Speaker 1: no problem. And besides, I'm already planning on crushing all
- 35:33Speaker 1: four emperors anyway. And that's the end of the episode.
- 35:38Speaker 1: And I was disappointed because when when Trafalgar says, what
- 35:43Speaker 1: makes you think that he's not using me? And we
- 35:46Speaker 1: jumped to this flashback, I really thought that we were
- 35:50Speaker 1: getting like Loofy surprising us with his own, if not
- 35:57Speaker 1: necessarily a plan, then just like his desire, and Trafalgar
- 36:02Speaker 1: being like, okay, I I'll let you choose. As long
- 36:09Speaker 1: as we're killing one of them, it doesn't matter, you know,
- 36:14Speaker 1: And so Loofy gets to like have his way in things,
- 36:17Speaker 1: and maybe it's related to the guy that he beat
- 36:19Speaker 1: up on. Uh, what do you call it? I can't
- 36:22Speaker 1: remember the name of the island, but you know the ones.
- 36:27Speaker 1: So Trafalgar starts telling Lufy like, just remember that all
- 36:31Speaker 1: of these guys are really badass and Kaydo is considered
- 36:35Speaker 1: the most powerful creature in the world, at which point Nami,
- 36:41Speaker 1: who is by the way, still in Frankie's body in
- 36:43Speaker 1: the scene, says he's not even human and does not
- 36:47Speaker 1: get a response. I do not appreciate Trafalgar, the fact
- 36:54Speaker 1: that you just like basically, he says, we'll work together
- 37:01Speaker 1: to beat Kaido. After that, our alliance comes to an end.
- 37:05Speaker 1: If you're curious about our chances of success, they're exceptionally low.
- 37:10Speaker 1: And I'll leave it at that. I don't want you
- 37:14Speaker 1: to be just ignoring some very valid questions. You want
- 37:19Speaker 1: to be in an alliance to kill this guy, and
- 37:22Speaker 1: first you didn't even want to tell them who And secondly,
- 37:26Speaker 1: when they're like, wait, are they human? Now, you're gonna
- 37:29Speaker 1: also try and play that close to the best. I'm sorry, sir, no,
- 37:34Speaker 1: that is not how this works. They should get to
- 37:37Speaker 1: hear whether a person they plan to kill is human
- 37:41Speaker 1: or not. I feel like that's kind of bare minimum information.
- 37:45Speaker 1: I feel like, you know, I did not appreciate this,
- 37:50Speaker 1: and I felt like Trafalgar was asking a lot. So
- 37:55Speaker 1: let's see going through. Oh right, here's the thing. So
- 37:59Speaker 1: we finished the feast, and then we have these fucking
- 38:05Speaker 1: g five guys painting this line on the ground and
- 38:09Speaker 1: insisting that the straw hats can't walk past it. Once again,
- 38:15Speaker 1: we're bringing this all back up again that I had
- 38:19Speaker 1: thought was already settled and done with. So I already
- 38:26Speaker 1: kind of was just like irritated that we were doing
- 38:29Speaker 1: this again. But then the Marines have this like screen
- 38:37Speaker 1: that they hold up so that the children who are
- 38:40Speaker 1: on the boat can't see the people who saved their
- 38:45Speaker 1: lives to thank them, which is honestly some truly wild
- 38:55Speaker 1: shit to do like that is that is unhinged, guys,
- 39:03Speaker 1: what is wrong with you? And like I said, this
- 39:07Speaker 1: goes on for ages. We've got all of this like
- 39:11Speaker 1: with the unfolding of this screen is at eight thirty five,
- 39:16Speaker 1: and I'm trying to jump to the spot where they
- 39:18Speaker 1: finally like say, well what if we like them? Though?
- 39:25Speaker 1: And it's so far along it's I think all most
- 39:33Speaker 1: like a full ten minutes of just this sort of
- 39:39Speaker 1: back and forth thing, and it was very tiresome. So
- 39:45Speaker 1: I'm just gonna basically skip over it. Okay, So it's
- 39:50Speaker 1: not a full ten minutes, I'm sorry, it just felt
- 39:52Speaker 1: like at least ten minutes. It looks like it was
- 39:56Speaker 1: about seven minutes before final them explaining like, this is
- 40:02Speaker 1: why we have to insist on pretending we don't like
- 40:06Speaker 1: these guys so that we can keep doing our jobs.
- 40:10Speaker 1: And then when they do part, the G five guys
- 40:17Speaker 1: and the straw Hats have much more of a sort
- 40:22Speaker 1: of friendly like, ah, next time we'll get you, you know,
- 40:25Speaker 1: kind of energy to them, and that was acceptable to me.
- 40:30Speaker 1: I liked how it evolved, but like I said, it
- 40:32Speaker 1: just didn't need to be drawn out so much. How
- 40:36Speaker 1: many times do you think I've said that, I've covered
- 40:39Speaker 1: so many episodes of this show. I wonder how many
- 40:42Speaker 1: times I've like said that exact phrase. So then we
- 40:48Speaker 1: get the like obligatory flashbacks to all of the things
- 40:52Speaker 1: that have happened and don't need any of this either, really,
- 40:59Speaker 1: and and loofy decking Caesar and how all that shook out.
- 41:04Speaker 1: Then the ship begins to pull away the sunny, and
- 41:08Speaker 1: we also have Frankie explaining to them that he has
- 41:14Speaker 1: the mini Sonny. I think it's what they call it,
- 41:18Speaker 1: the smaller ship that they sent out initially, and he
- 41:22Speaker 1: circled back and picked it up again, which explains what
- 41:25Speaker 1: he was doing for such a very long time, not
- 41:29Speaker 1: with the crew helping to fight. I'm gonna say, I
- 41:36Speaker 1: think it is sort of strange considering a lot of
- 41:43Speaker 1: what excuse me, a lot of what Frankie does, even
- 41:48Speaker 1: though it is regarding the ship, doesn't seem to be
- 41:52Speaker 1: the kinds of things that only he can do in
- 41:56Speaker 1: terms of like steering or anything like that, and considering
- 42:02Speaker 1: the weapons that he is dealing with and how powerful
- 42:06Speaker 1: he is, I can't help but feel like he shouldn't
- 42:13Speaker 1: be the one handling the ship. But I like, as
- 42:18Speaker 1: soon as I start to say that, I get sort
- 42:22Speaker 1: of frustrated because I realized, like the other person would
- 42:27Speaker 1: be Chopper, and Chopper I always complain about being left
- 42:32Speaker 1: with the ship. I always just feel like, come on,
- 42:35Speaker 1: let him do something, you know, So I just I
- 42:40Speaker 1: guess I just have to cope, you know, with the
- 42:43Speaker 1: fact that somebody is going to have to stick with
- 42:45Speaker 1: the ship and make sure that it's safe, because are
- 42:50Speaker 1: people that need a reliable way to get the fuck
- 42:53Speaker 1: out of here at the end of the day. And
- 42:56Speaker 1: I don't think anybody being left on the ship. I
- 43:02Speaker 1: don't feel like there's anybody that I would say, yeah,
- 43:05Speaker 1: that's a good one, leave them there. You know, if
- 43:08Speaker 1: it were not me, I would be annoyed because you
- 43:11Speaker 1: guys already know that I want her to be more
- 43:14Speaker 1: involved with the fights than she has been, so that
- 43:18Speaker 1: wouldn't work if it were oos Up. Honestly, I think
- 43:23Speaker 1: he'd probably be the best choice, if only because so
- 43:27Speaker 1: much of the way that he fights he uses props
- 43:30Speaker 1: and objects that he already has to plan ahead. I
- 43:34Speaker 1: feel like Oosup would be great at making sure that
- 43:39Speaker 1: the ship was safe because he would be able to
- 43:41Speaker 1: set a ton of booby traps and he would just
- 43:45Speaker 1: basically home alone that shit. And I can't help but
- 43:50Speaker 1: admit now there's like a certain curiosity in me to
- 43:53Speaker 1: just be like, I would be curious how Usup would cope.
- 43:59Speaker 1: So yeah, I think maybe he's the only one. Robin
- 44:04Speaker 1: alternatively would be fine because I just don't really give
- 44:08Speaker 1: a shit about Robin. I've said it, and I'm just
- 44:11Speaker 1: gonna sort of stand by it, no shade if you
- 44:13Speaker 1: like Robin, But she just doesn't really do anything for me.
- 44:16Speaker 1: And it might be the translation, but her power is
- 44:21Speaker 1: pretty dope, but I find her as a character pretty underwhelming,
- 44:26Speaker 1: and her power could be used quite well for defending
- 44:30Speaker 1: the ship. And so yeah, all right, let's say oos
- 44:34Speaker 1: Up and Robin, those are the two that I would
- 44:37Speaker 1: be like, yeah, that's those are good choices. But yeah,
- 44:43Speaker 1: just Frankie, like in particular, he just feels so strong
- 44:47Speaker 1: that it's a wild choice. So we jump over to
- 44:53Speaker 1: do Flamingo, who is heading over to the island, and
- 44:58Speaker 1: he is doing that like skypath, I think is what
- 45:02Speaker 1: he winds up calling it. And on the way he
- 45:06Speaker 1: sees a ship and like a stream of smoke going
- 45:11Speaker 1: up from it, and he sees the heads of Baby
- 45:17Speaker 1: five and what do you call it? Buffalo just sitting there.
- 45:24Speaker 1: And it's so funny because even though I know that
- 45:28Speaker 1: Lock can cut people's heads off, the show wants me
- 45:31Speaker 1: to be shocked, and it's managing to still kind of
- 45:36Speaker 1: succeed because the way that they are sitting there with
- 45:40Speaker 1: their mouths sort of hanging open is very much giving
- 45:44Speaker 1: dead decapitated head. They do not look alive. So as
- 45:50Speaker 1: he is like coming in for a landing, I'm looking
- 45:52Speaker 1: at them like, wait, have they actually been beheaded? That's surprising.
- 45:58Speaker 1: And then they started talking and I was ear dad
- 46:00Speaker 1: that I fell for it. I was just like, come
- 46:02Speaker 1: on a Tasha, you know they're not dead. What are
- 46:04Speaker 1: you even talking about? But yeah, this is on maybe
- 46:08Speaker 1: five says it was Law. The trader was in with
- 46:11Speaker 1: the straw hats and we let it happen. I wish
- 46:14Speaker 1: I was dead. You needed me, and now I'm just
- 46:17Speaker 1: a burden. I'm sorry I failed you. So there this
- 46:25Speaker 1: is the life yacht that was on the tanker. I'm
- 46:28Speaker 1: too I'm almost too ashamed to say. But after I
- 46:32Speaker 1: hung up, no need I can fill in the blanks.
- 46:35Speaker 1: All you did was follow the orders I gave you.
- 46:40Speaker 1: And then all of a sudden, you hear Law's voice
- 46:44Speaker 1: because there's a transponder snail that has been left on
- 46:47Speaker 1: the raft and Law wants to make a deal with Joker,
- 46:54Speaker 1: and long story short, he says, I want you to
- 47:02Speaker 1: resign your post as one of the warlords, and if
- 47:09Speaker 1: you will do that, we have a deal. I will
- 47:13Speaker 1: like leave this all alone. Let's see, let's negotiate. Is
- 47:17Speaker 1: how he starts this off. Oh I love this when
- 47:24Speaker 1: he's like, where are the bodies? And Law says, I
- 47:26Speaker 1: have no idea and I don't care, and it's like
- 47:29Speaker 1: he's a pretty adept liar, because uh yeah, let's see.
- 47:37Speaker 1: I wonder how he might react if he finds out
- 47:40Speaker 1: you can't produce smile because evidently that's who's backing the
- 47:45Speaker 1: joker is the guy that Law is attempting to kill. Here.
- 47:51Speaker 1: If there's anybody you'd want to keep from getting angry,
- 47:55Speaker 1: I would think it would be him. So he doesn't
- 48:01Speaker 1: strike me as the bargaining type. I imagine a fierce
- 48:05Speaker 1: battle would ensue. Buffalo says, Master, you're turning blue. So
- 48:15Speaker 1: this is when let's discuss the terms, like grown ups,
- 48:19Speaker 1: what do you want to trade for? Caesar resign from
- 48:24Speaker 1: the seven warlords? That is all. And he says, if
- 48:31Speaker 1: I open the paper like tomorrow or the day after,
- 48:36Speaker 1: and I see that you have resigned, then we will
- 48:45Speaker 1: be able to set this all aside. And I let's say,
- 48:50Speaker 1: I'm only asking you to turn your back on a
- 48:53Speaker 1: decade of hard work and go back to being a
- 48:56Speaker 1: simple pirate. Unfortunately, once that happens, the navy rolls at
- 49:00Speaker 1: headquarters won't be able to turn the blind eye to
- 49:02Speaker 1: you much longer. You have until tomorrow. If I look
- 49:07Speaker 1: in the morning paper here it is, and see a
- 49:09Speaker 1: headline announcing your resignation from the warlords, then I will
- 49:13Speaker 1: call you, and the deal is on. But if I
- 49:16Speaker 1: don't see it, then my offer is as good as dead.
- 49:21Speaker 1: So long and then he hangs up. This is the
- 49:28Speaker 1: kind of thing that I find only works if you're
- 49:35Speaker 1: gonna have like a pretty childish understanding of things, Because
- 49:39Speaker 1: at this point, do Flamingo would have been so embedded
- 49:45Speaker 1: in everything that even if he did resign, there are
- 49:50Speaker 1: there have to be so many folks up and down
- 49:53Speaker 1: the chain who have gotten deeply involved themselves and also
- 49:59Speaker 1: become like de Pendent on the money that comes in
- 50:02Speaker 1: from it, that they would all want to preserve this
- 50:06Speaker 1: as well. So even if he did become a pirate,
- 50:10Speaker 1: I bet they would find a way to all work
- 50:12Speaker 1: together and make sure that nothing happened and he would
- 50:17Speaker 1: be able to carry on just as he had been.
- 50:22Speaker 1: But you know, for the sake of the show, we'll
- 50:26Speaker 1: assume that the way law is outlining this is really
- 50:30Speaker 1: how it would work. Now, the question is do I
- 50:34Speaker 1: think that Law actually means it when it comes to
- 50:41Speaker 1: this deal. I don't. I think that Law can be
- 50:47Speaker 1: slippery and do what he feels like doing sometimes, and
- 50:53Speaker 1: I would not be at all surprised if he got
- 50:56Speaker 1: Doflaminga to do this and then was like Caesar, what
- 51:03Speaker 1: never heard of him? I don't. I don't know what
- 51:06Speaker 1: you're talking about. I just feel like that seems wane.
- 51:13Speaker 1: It really is sort of up in the air here
- 51:15Speaker 1: because I just still don't really feel like I have
- 51:19Speaker 1: a good idea who Law is or what he wants.
- 51:21Speaker 1: So I think that's where I'm sticking is that Law's
- 51:26Speaker 1: overall sense of morality is still kind of nebulous for me.
- 51:33Speaker 1: And you know, if he were a different type of
- 51:36Speaker 1: person who were more like overt with saying what he
- 51:44Speaker 1: thought was right and wrong, maybe I would think, oh, yeah,
- 51:49Speaker 1: he's definitely not going to hand Caesar over because he
- 51:51Speaker 1: will know what it means for more of that, like
- 51:59Speaker 1: gas to be made and the damage that do Flamingo
- 52:02Speaker 1: and Caesar could do, and he wouldn't want to unleash
- 52:06Speaker 1: that on people. And I don't feel comfortable saying that
- 52:11Speaker 1: because I'm not really sure how much law cares about
- 52:16Speaker 1: other people. It feels to me like something else is
- 52:22Speaker 1: driving law, and that it's it doesn't have anything to
- 52:28Speaker 1: do with like real justice or anything like that. That
- 52:32Speaker 1: almost maybe there is something personal going on, but I
- 52:36Speaker 1: don't have any idea what I even mean by that,
- 52:41Speaker 1: you know, So just overall, I keep getting stuck trying
- 52:49Speaker 1: to guess where he's coming from and what he's thinking.
- 52:54Speaker 1: And yeah, so that's how that episode ends. And then
- 52:59Speaker 1: we go to the third one, which spoilers the G
- 53:04Speaker 1: five wiped out Do Flamingo's sudden attack. Yes, it's pretty
- 53:08Speaker 1: much what it sounds like. It's mostly do Flamingo landing
- 53:12Speaker 1: in the midst of the G five and just absolutely whooping.
- 53:20Speaker 1: Smoker and his men try and like step in and
- 53:25Speaker 1: stop him from completely taking a Smoker out, at which
- 53:29Speaker 1: point do Flamingo basically says, well, I want I need
- 53:35Speaker 1: to kill him because I don't know how much he
- 53:37Speaker 1: knows and what he would share, and I don't know
- 53:41Speaker 1: how much any of you knows either. So if you're worried,
- 53:45Speaker 1: because they start saying like he's the only one who
- 53:47Speaker 1: really believes and us or cares about us? What are
- 53:50Speaker 1: we supposed to do if he's dead? And do Flamingo's like, oh, well,
- 53:53Speaker 1: don't worry about that, because I'm gonna kill you too,
- 53:56Speaker 1: so who cares? Which I will confess didn't make me laugh.
- 54:01Speaker 1: And this guy's immediately going, that's not necessary. I'm sure
- 54:05Speaker 1: it's I'm sure it's not. But yeah, So that just
- 54:13Speaker 1: that made me laugh a little bit because the way
- 54:16Speaker 1: that this scene wraps up is that Dop Flamingo is
- 54:22Speaker 1: just about to kill and I put that in quotes smoker.
- 54:34Speaker 1: I keep wanting to say a Kainu, but it's Aokig.
- 54:38Speaker 1: I get their names mixed up so bad. They both
- 54:40Speaker 1: start with A. They both have like four syllables, and
- 54:43Speaker 1: I just keep doing that. But Aokig shows up and
- 54:48Speaker 1: is like, hey, Brah, what's you're up to? Because that's
- 54:55Speaker 1: an old friend of mine. So I would prefer it
- 54:58Speaker 1: if you did not cave his head in like you
- 55:00Speaker 1: are talking about doing. And the way he just starts
- 55:07Speaker 1: it off with like, pardon me for the intrusion is
- 55:11Speaker 1: very funny. I just really like a o Kiji in
- 55:15Speaker 1: this way that is so uncertain, you know, he like
- 55:22Speaker 1: tickles my funny bone in a way, and the fact
- 55:26Speaker 1: that him being here will make Do Flamingo back off
- 55:32Speaker 1: is a testament to the kind of power that he has,
- 55:37Speaker 1: because Do Flamingo does indeed let go of smoker and
- 55:40Speaker 1: stand up and face him. So that's a wrap on them. Now.
- 55:45Speaker 1: If we go over to the straw Hats in this episode,
- 55:49Speaker 1: we get a delightful bit here where uh what's his name?
- 55:55Speaker 1: Chopper is trying to heal Caesar, and at one point
- 56:01Speaker 1: Sanji kicks Caesar and Chopper just says, I'm still treating him.
- 56:10Speaker 1: Just wait until I'm done. I did find that fun.
- 56:16Speaker 1: So I already talked a little bit about how the
- 56:20Speaker 1: bomb gets dropped, about Loofy and Trafalgar being in league
- 56:24Speaker 1: with each other, and we kind of get interrupted as
- 56:31Speaker 1: everybody is like putting two and two together about this.
- 56:38Speaker 1: Let's say I'm trying to find the spot where's oh, yeah,
- 56:46Speaker 1: the Samurai. We are in the midst of a grave
- 56:48Speaker 1: and truly significant journey. To negotiate with the Navy through
- 56:54Speaker 1: their red tape would surely be a waste of time.
- 56:58Speaker 1: We shall depart at the first island with a harbor
- 57:01Speaker 1: that you come across in the meanwhile, please let us
- 57:05Speaker 1: stay on board, And of course Lufy is like, absolutely
- 57:10Speaker 1: not a problem. Nomy says, you can reimburse us for
- 57:15Speaker 1: travel fair later. Oh Nommy never change. So yeah, this
- 57:24Speaker 1: is this is when law takes center stage and he
- 57:28Speaker 1: explains to them about this whole thing, and oh right,
- 57:33Speaker 1: I forgot that we like temporarily go back to the
- 57:36Speaker 1: island and them talking about the protective suits that Vega
- 57:38Speaker 1: Punk made and that they would have stood up to
- 57:42Speaker 1: the gas and Caesar knew that and that's why he
- 57:44Speaker 1: told them that the suits would only slow them all
- 57:48Speaker 1: down and not do them any good, so they may
- 57:50Speaker 1: as well take them off. And the ben like Vega
- 57:58Speaker 1: Punk is mentioned by a few people in here, and
- 58:00Speaker 1: I am just really interested in meeting this dude. I'm
- 58:03Speaker 1: just trying to like imagine what the fuck Vegapunk is like.
- 58:06Speaker 1: And after all this build up and the weird shit
- 58:10Speaker 1: that he is involved in him being mentioned constantly for
- 58:14Speaker 1: so long, it better be good. He'd better be crazy looking.
- 58:22Speaker 1: So these dudes are going out and are explaining that
- 58:26Speaker 1: all of the guys out there, even though they're paralyzed
- 58:28Speaker 1: in their shells, they're in a coma like state. But still,
- 58:32Speaker 1: we've only got twelve hours to find them before the
- 58:35Speaker 1: poison does kill them. So any gas statue you find,
- 58:39Speaker 1: bust it wide open. We're gonna save every last one
- 58:42Speaker 1: of them. And that is where we jump over to
- 58:49Speaker 1: brown Beard and him saying, I'll never forget what you've
- 58:52Speaker 1: done for us. As soon as I find my followers
- 58:55Speaker 1: and save them, I promise I'll come back and turn
- 58:57Speaker 1: myself in. And when once he takes off, this is
- 59:05Speaker 1: when we have the uh, the attack from Do Flamingo.
- 59:11Speaker 1: Oh my god, and I forgot that Do Flamingo chucks
- 59:13Speaker 1: the heads of these two at their bodies so that
- 59:17Speaker 1: they just finally like connect. That is such a wild
- 59:21Speaker 1: way to start things off. That is really really fun.
- 59:24Speaker 1: I should have really led with that because that was
- 59:26Speaker 1: a good moment that deserved a little bit more respect.
- 59:29Speaker 1: But yeah, he like lays everybody out with hockey instantly,
- 59:33Speaker 1: and it just feels like people being able to use
- 59:35Speaker 1: hockey is just not fair, you know, That's just that's
- 59:42Speaker 1: just such an incredible disadvantage. Oh man. So, jumping back
- 59:49Speaker 1: to the straw hats, Nami is noticing that the ship
- 59:54Speaker 1: is like tilted at this weird angle and that the
- 59:57Speaker 1: ship is shifting wild all over the place. And I
- 1:00:03Speaker 1: think it's law who says something like, yeah, we're on
- 1:00:07Speaker 1: like a water hill. It's not a big deal. They're
- 1:00:10Speaker 1: very common, and hoos Up is saying, yeah, a sea
- 1:00:14Speaker 1: hill here it is. It's best if we don't try
- 1:00:17Speaker 1: to go against the current. The middle needle on your
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: log post should be pointing us in the exact direction
- 1:00:22Speaker 1: direction of dress Rosa, but don't steer us right there.
- 1:00:27Speaker 1: We want to take a roundabout way. It'll work out
- 1:00:30Speaker 1: best for us. So this is when Robin says, I
- 1:00:36Speaker 1: saw you talking to someone on a transponder snail earlier.
- 1:00:40Speaker 1: Why don't you tell us who it was? I do
- 1:00:43Speaker 1: really love Robin for that, just being like, all right,
- 1:00:46Speaker 1: you know what you want to play, know it all
- 1:00:48Speaker 1: and give orders and shit, you're gonna fucking tell us
- 1:00:50Speaker 1: some things, and just putting him on blast in front
- 1:00:54Speaker 1: of everybody. I like. The reason that I enjoyed it
- 1:00:59Speaker 1: so much was the fact that that's like one of
- 1:01:03Speaker 1: the first moments that we see Trafalgar seeming to be
- 1:01:06Speaker 1: really affected by somebody calling him out, Like he hunches
- 1:01:12Speaker 1: his shoulders and seems almost embarrassed, And I just really
- 1:01:17Speaker 1: really liked that because, my guy, you're on a ship
- 1:01:21Speaker 1: that is somewhat small with a lot of people, and
- 1:01:25Speaker 1: you decided to like make a fucking phone call and
- 1:01:27Speaker 1: thought nobody was gonna notice. Of course they fucking noticed,
- 1:01:30Speaker 1: you goon, you absolute idiot. So this is when the
- 1:01:35Speaker 1: explanation of the whole thing comes out and us up
- 1:01:43Speaker 1: when he says, lufy, can you explain this alliance to us?
- 1:01:46Speaker 1: And then he tries to vote against it, and Nami,
- 1:01:51Speaker 1: Chopper and usap they all vote, and then it's followed
- 1:01:56Speaker 1: up with Brooke just dead panting saying, do you guys
- 1:02:01Speaker 1: really think that's going to make any difference? I really
- 1:02:05Speaker 1: love that moment so much because it is so pointless.
- 1:02:08Speaker 1: Why are you even fighting it, you guys? I mean,
- 1:02:12Speaker 1: you know who you're working with. Two, you're even worse
- 1:02:16Speaker 1: than Law if you think that you're going to be
- 1:02:18Speaker 1: able to change the course of things now, it's too late.
- 1:02:23Speaker 1: It's so very much too late. Bless them. Oh yeah,
- 1:02:31Speaker 1: here's Hanjie handing out like soup and tea and whatnot.
- 1:02:36Speaker 1: He goes up to Law and says, try not to
- 1:02:39Speaker 1: act too surprised if it turns out there's a bit
- 1:02:42Speaker 1: of a difference in how you and Loofy define the
- 1:02:45Speaker 1: term alliance. You've been warned, and as he walks away,
- 1:02:51Speaker 1: Law is just sweating. Honestly, Law, you shouldn't be sweating
- 1:02:59Speaker 1: because you have known. You should have been known by now.
- 1:03:03Speaker 1: This shouldn't even be a surprise. But I did really
- 1:03:08Speaker 1: really like that. And let's see, at least the whole
- 1:03:14Speaker 1: kidnapping thing makes sense now, considering it's not Lufy's style. Usually,
- 1:03:18Speaker 1: if he'd brought this weird sheep on board, I would
- 1:03:21Speaker 1: have assumed he wanted me to throw it in a
- 1:03:23Speaker 1: pot and cook it up for him. You know, I
- 1:03:25Speaker 1: had a moment of just not knowing what he was
- 1:03:28Speaker 1: talking about, and then I realized, like the horns that
- 1:03:33Speaker 1: are on Caesar's head, like he's got such wild hair
- 1:03:38Speaker 1: that honestly, I stopped noticing the horns after a little bit,
- 1:03:42Speaker 1: and they just didn't even register anymore. So I genuinely
- 1:03:46Speaker 1: was like, what is he mean? And then I realized
- 1:03:50Speaker 1: I was like, oh, duh, of course, And this is
- 1:03:54Speaker 1: when Caesar tries to be like you guys don't stand
- 1:03:56Speaker 1: a chance, and then Sanji kicks him in the face.
- 1:04:01Speaker 1: So the episode ends with Law saying, you executed stage
- 1:04:04Speaker 1: one of the plan. While you were doing that, I
- 1:04:07Speaker 1: destroyed the machine manufacturing the chemical sad. Most of the
- 1:04:12Speaker 1: great pirates in the New World rule over their own territories,
- 1:04:15Speaker 1: governed by their subordinates. They've got a countless number of followers,
- 1:04:20Speaker 1: and they reign over all like an enormous criminal syndicate.
- 1:04:24Speaker 1: It's nothing like anything you have dealt with before. Trying
- 1:04:28Speaker 1: to take them down with a single pirate crew won't
- 1:04:31Speaker 1: even get you close enough to see their captain's base.
- 1:04:35Speaker 1: With that said, they still have to operate underground. All
- 1:04:38Speaker 1: of their deals are carried out in secret, the only
- 1:04:41Speaker 1: way they can safely avoid naval attention. And the most
- 1:04:45Speaker 1: trusted among them, with the most power and influence is
- 1:04:49Speaker 1: Do Flamenco. His underground alias is Joker, and out of
- 1:04:55Speaker 1: all Jokers clients, he's got one who's more importan than
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: the rest. His biggest spender is one of the four Emperors, Kayido,
- 1:05:05Speaker 1: king of the Beasts. And there you have it. That's
- 1:05:10Speaker 1: our target. So that's gotta be the you know the
- 1:05:19Speaker 1: earlier when Nami says, is Kaydo even human? And he
- 1:05:22Speaker 1: doesn't respond, I have been just assuming that it was
- 1:05:26Speaker 1: like a devil fruit thing, but I don't know, the
- 1:05:28Speaker 1: way he's talking about him feels like different than that,
- 1:05:30Speaker 1: or maybe he's had more than one devil fruit. I
- 1:05:33Speaker 1: don't even know. So anyway, that is the end. And
- 1:05:40Speaker 1: I yeah, like some of these sections worked really well
- 1:05:44Speaker 1: for me and others didn't at all. But you know,
- 1:05:46Speaker 1: they're not all going to be winners. It happens, so
- 1:05:49Speaker 1: I'm okay with it. Thank you guys again so much
- 1:05:53Speaker 1: for listening. Thank you to Michael for commissioning this one.
- 1:05:56Speaker 1: Hope you all enjoy, and until next time to Luma
- 1:05:59Speaker 1: the fuckers. That was an unspoiled network
