- 0:00Vox Liturgica: The propers of the day according to the Roman Missal before 1955. The feast of Saint Callistus the first, Pope and Martyr, October 14 in the year of our Lord 2026. In 1942, Pope Pius the twelfth through the Sacred Congregation of Rights presented a new mass for supreme pontiffs known as with the introit that begins with the line from the gospel of John, if thou lovest me, Simon Peter, feed my lambs, feed my sheep. It replaced the propers for multiple masses for supreme pontiffs including today's which had been mostly unique to Saint Callistus the first. In the pre-nineteen fifty five series I present the older mass for Saint Callistus.
- 1:04In the 1962 series I present the Sidiligisme Mass in which only the collects remain proper to St. Callistus. In the Father LaSance Missal, Monsignor William R. Kelly writes, Pope St. Callistus succeeded St.
- 1:25Zephyrinus. The institution of the Imbra Day fasts is ascribed to him. He suffered martyrdom under Emperor Alexander Severus October fourteenth two hundred and twenty three. He was a staunch defender of the unity of the divine essence. He offered absolution to even the greatest sinner who should have performed the canonical penances.
- 1:56In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. Amen. The Introit. O ye priests of the Lord, bless the Lord. O ye holy and humble of heart, praise God.
- 2:16All ye works of the Lord, bless the Lord, Praise and exalt him above all forever. Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Ghost as it was in the beginning is now and will be through all ages of ages. Amen. O ye priests of the Lord, bless the Lord. O ye holy and humble of heart, praise God.
- 2:49The Collect, let us pray. O God, who seest that we are fallen from our own very weakness, mercifully restore us to thy love by the example of thy saints through our Lord Jesus Christ, thy Son, who liveth and reigneth with thee in the unity of the Holy Ghost, God through all ages of ages. Amen. A lesson from the letter of Saint Paul the Apostle to the Hebrews. Brethren, every high priest taken from among men is ordained for men in the things that pertain to God that he may offer up gifts and sacrifices for sins who can have compassion on them that are ignorant and that air because he himself is also compassed with infirmity.
- 3:55And therefore he ought as for the people, so also for himself, to offer for sins. Neither doth any man take the honor to himself, but he that is called by God as Aaron was. The gradual. I have found David, my servant. With my holy oil I have anointed him, for my hand shall help him, and my arm shall strengthen him.
- 4:31The enemy shall have no advantage over him, and the son of iniquity shall not hurt him. Alleluia. Alleluia. The Lord loved him and adorned him. He clothed him with a robe of glory.
- 4:52Alleluia. A continuation of the holy gospel according to Matthew. At that time, Jesus said to his disciples, what is veiled will all be revealed. What is hidden will all be known. What I have said to you under cover of darkness, you are to utter in the light of day.
- 5:20What has been whispered in your ears, you are to proclaim on the housetops. And there is no need to fear those who kill the body, but have no means of killing the soul. Fear him more who has the power to ruin body and soul in hell. Are not sparrows sold two for a penny? And yet it is impossible for one of them to fall to the ground without your heavenly father's will.
- 5:53And as for you, he takes every hair of your head into his reckoning. Do not be afraid then. You count for more than a host of sparrows. And now whoever acknowledges me before men, I too will acknowledge him before my father who is in heaven. The offertory, my truth and my mercy shall be with him, and in my name shall his horn be exalted.
- 6:34The secret. O Lord, may this mystical oblation be to our good. May it cleanse us from our sins, and may it confirm our eternal salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, thy Son, who liveth and reigneth with thee in the unity of the Holy Ghost, God through all ages of ages. Amen. The common preface.
- 7:10Just it is indeed and fitting, right in for our salvation, that we should at all times and in all places give thanks unto thee, O Holy Lord, Father Almighty, everlasting God, through whom the angels praise thy majesty, the dominions worship it, the power stand in awe, the heavens and the hosts of heaven together with the blessed Seraphim joyfully do magnify. We entreat thee that thou command it be permitted us to join with them in confessing thee while we say with lowly praise. Holy, holy, holy, Lord God of hosts. The heavens and the earth are full of thy glory. Hosanna in the highest.
- 8:07Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest. The communion. Blessed is the servant who is found on the watch when the Lord comes. Amen, I say to you, he shall place him over all his goods.
- 8:34The post communion. Let us pray. We beseech the Almighty God that the hallowing of the gifts we have offered may both wash away our guilt and make us henceforth to lead good and holy lives through our Lord Jesus Christ, thy son, who liveth and reigneth with thee in the unity of the Holy Ghost, God through all ages of ages. Amen. In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.
- 9:19Amen. Thanks be to God. Saint Callistus the first, pray for us.
