Latest / The Paul Barron Crypto Show / XRPL Coming To Uniswap & Hyperliquid!?🚨Axelar INTERVIEW
Transcript
- 0:06Speaker 1: Today we're going to get into Axelar, which is one
- 0:08Speaker 1: of those chains out there that of course gives us
- 0:10Speaker 1: a lot of interoperability. Why it makes a difference in
- 0:13Speaker 1: the XRPL ecosystem, you don't want to miss it. My
- 0:16Speaker 1: name is small Bearer. We'll come back in the tech path.
- 0:18Speaker 1: I do want to thank her sponsor, and that is Uphold.
- 0:20Speaker 1: This is a place where you guys can do your
- 0:21Speaker 1: crypto trading. And the cool thing about Uphold is this
- 0:24Speaker 1: is one of those platforms that will look for the
- 0:26Speaker 1: best price for you and you can actually earn some
- 0:30Speaker 1: staking rewards as well. So go over to Uphold use
- 0:33Speaker 1: our link down below. You guys will get some special
- 0:35Speaker 1: offers to get going and get started. I want to
- 0:37Speaker 1: bring back in Georgios. He has been with us before.
- 0:41Speaker 1: He's coming over from Axlar's co founder and heading up
- 0:44Speaker 1: the team over there. Georgio's how are you.
- 0:47Speaker 2: Hey, Paul, Thanks for having me again.
- 0:49Speaker 3: I know we had their first discussion a couple of
- 0:50Speaker 3: months ago with Jazzi from Ripol. Big fans of the
- 0:54Speaker 3: x RPXRPL ecosystem excite talk more about that than other
- 0:58Speaker 3: developments around.
- 0:59Speaker 1: Hey, Georgia, So when you look at people who are
- 1:02Speaker 1: learning about XAR for the first time. What is the
- 1:05Speaker 1: easiest way to explain it for maybe some of the
- 1:08Speaker 1: new audience that's watching this right now and they're starting
- 1:11Speaker 1: to understand how interoperability works. Why is this such an
- 1:14Speaker 1: important role in the crypto ecosystem?
- 1:17Speaker 3: High level view is that acceller plays that role of
- 1:21Speaker 3: the Internet for blocksins. There's many many different blocksains. There's Bitcoin,
- 1:25Speaker 3: there's xrpl, ethereum, Solana. But without the technology that connects
- 1:30Speaker 3: with different blocksains, your assets are siloed on different chains, right,
- 1:35Speaker 3: So we have assets like rlusd is by repole. It
- 1:39Speaker 3: exists natively on XRPL on ethereum. It's probably going to
- 1:43Speaker 3: launch on more changes in the future. But if you
- 1:45Speaker 3: don't have a technology like acceler you cannot seamlessly move
- 1:48Speaker 3: it across the different blocksins. And as a user, when
- 1:52Speaker 3: you hold an asset on a certain chain, you want
- 1:54Speaker 3: to be able to move it to other chains to
- 1:56Speaker 3: use an application there, or do all other kinds of things.
- 1:59Speaker 3: Right with your table going because there's the interesting applications,
- 2:02Speaker 3: interesting things to do.
- 2:03Speaker 1: I'm looking at the network graph right here on axl
- 2:05Speaker 1: our scan. Obviously we've seen and talked about this before.
- 2:10Speaker 1: You guys continue to expand there what chains are coming next.
- 2:15Speaker 3: Historically with Acceller, we focused on EVM chains right Ethereum
- 2:20Speaker 3: and Cosmo Change. Axceller has been in the costmos ecosystem
- 2:24Speaker 3: for a very long time, but now for the first time,
- 2:28Speaker 3: very recently we were able to launch other non IVM chains,
- 2:32Speaker 3: and very rapidly we're going to be adding XRPL, Sui, Solana,
- 2:38Speaker 3: and a handful of others as well, but those are
- 2:41Speaker 3: the three. You know, I'm personally very excited about XRPL.
- 2:44Speaker 3: We're going to be the first major robust interperability solution
- 2:48Speaker 3: to be available on EXORPL. Been working on this integration
- 2:51Speaker 3: for more than a year. Many many teams across the
- 2:55Speaker 3: actual ecosystem have been working on this integration and very
- 2:57Speaker 3: excited for this to go live soon. We of course
- 3:00Speaker 3: also up and coming ecosystem incredible technology and there's a
- 3:06Speaker 3: couple of initiatives we're working on there. But you know,
- 3:08Speaker 3: we are there early and we want to support ecosystem,
- 3:11Speaker 3: help it grow and be a core part of the
- 3:13Speaker 3: growth and so LAN as well. Of course, you know
- 3:15Speaker 3: there's a lot of demand for developers. Those three are
- 3:17Speaker 3: coming some of them, you know, are already live.
- 3:22Speaker 2: All are going to be live very soon, and we're
- 3:23Speaker 2: going to see a lot of activity across them.
- 3:25Speaker 1: When you look at the amount of transactions that are
- 3:27Speaker 1: happening right now, what examples have you seen so far
- 3:31Speaker 1: in terms of boosting transactions within the actual are ecosystem?
- 3:35Speaker 1: Any examples out there that you can point to.
- 3:37Speaker 3: It's mostly ust issues, to be frank, you know, when
- 3:40Speaker 3: we were starting out, we were expecting more sophisticated crosschain
- 3:45Speaker 3: applications to go live and a lot of traffic. This
- 3:49Speaker 3: hasn't played out exactly that way. To this day, the
- 3:53Speaker 3: vast majority of polymon Axler, more than ninety percent, is
- 3:57Speaker 3: aset transfers, and this allows this aligns with the wider
- 4:00Speaker 3: market sentiment that stable coins and organization are the core
- 4:04Speaker 3: use case for the technology. You know, there's also been
- 4:08Speaker 3: a lot of bus recently with the Circle IPO. Everyone's
- 4:11Speaker 3: talking about stable coins, but stable coin is the killer
- 4:14Speaker 3: use case of the technology, and if we look at
- 4:17Speaker 3: cross chain use cases, it's basically being able to transfer
- 4:20Speaker 3: money stable coins across the different chains and maybe list
- 4:24Speaker 3: them on hyper liquid. Hyper Liquid is the centralized excayins
- 4:29Speaker 3: that you know, in two years they became by far
- 4:32Speaker 3: the biggest centralized eccaints now competing with binance in terms
- 4:36Speaker 3: of daily volumes. If you are an asset issue and
- 4:40Speaker 3: you want to be listed there, you need interoperability and
- 4:42Speaker 3: to expect to see more and more of that platform,
- 4:45Speaker 3: like hyper liquids and established themselves.
- 4:48Speaker 1: I was looking at the volume because that's the pop
- 4:50Speaker 1: right there that we saw with finance would be a
- 4:52Speaker 1: c pretty significant improvement there. And you look at the
- 4:58Speaker 1: demand right now also on cross chain. I was looking
- 5:01Speaker 1: at this as Dopper Finance kind of hitting on this
- 5:03Speaker 1: very issue, and that is on the x ORP ledger.
- 5:06Speaker 1: Do you think that we are going to see a
- 5:09Speaker 1: lot of demand coming in for XRPL once this rolls out?
- 5:13Speaker 3: Absolutely, And I think there's a couple of things to
- 5:17Speaker 3: unpack here. One is what does this do for XRP right?
- 5:21Speaker 3: Is it going to yield opportunities? And absolutely is. For
- 5:26Speaker 3: the past couple of months, we've heard from multiple other
- 5:29Speaker 3: ecosystems that they want to on board XRP offer it
- 5:32Speaker 3: on their native DeFi protocols like Dexis money markets. Today
- 5:37Speaker 3: this is impossible to do, but once we go live,
- 5:40Speaker 3: anyone will be able to take XRP through acceler in
- 5:43Speaker 3: a permissionless way included in their protocols and offered yield
- 5:47Speaker 3: to incentivize people to bridge it over and do interesting things.
- 5:51Speaker 3: And during that bootstrap in phase where people are offering
- 5:54Speaker 3: yield for XRP, there's going to be an opportunity for
- 5:56Speaker 3: holders to bridge it over and get just turned and
- 6:00Speaker 3: this yield. From an economic perspective, it's free money because
- 6:04Speaker 3: someone is paying to woodstrap activity of XRP other ecosystems.
- 6:10Speaker 3: It's the third biggest asset and if you look at
- 6:12Speaker 3: by FDV, I think like over the past couple of
- 6:14Speaker 3: weeks it was even above ethereum. So when you have
- 6:17Speaker 3: such a massive asset, there's definitely going to be demand.
- 6:20Speaker 1: You guys did an announcement on DAMA two. Deutsche Bank
- 6:23Speaker 1: is now tokenized or debuting the potential tokenization platform. This
- 6:27Speaker 1: is happening in November, coming around the corner here, so
- 6:30Speaker 1: give me some insights here.
- 6:31Speaker 3: It's very similar to a lot of the permission institutional
- 6:35Speaker 3: chains that have launched in the past, but with a
- 6:38Speaker 3: very interesting twist to my knowledge, with Deutsche Bank, this
- 6:42Speaker 3: is the first time we see a big financial institution
- 6:44Speaker 3: launching their chain on a public layer two on top
- 6:49Speaker 3: of Ethereum Maine Deutsche Bank. Instead of doing everything in
- 6:52Speaker 3: a silent environment in their own database, they decided to
- 6:58Speaker 3: launch a layer two using this casing stock on the
- 7:03Speaker 3: mains and physical laboration with Axeler that will provide in
- 7:06Speaker 3: their operability. And the Memento which is the technical team
- 7:10Speaker 3: that is actually launching the chain using the z casing stock.
- 7:13Speaker 3: So theoretically, JP Morgan would have launched their asset on
- 7:18Speaker 3: the Deutsche Bank platform and we expect a lot of
- 7:21Speaker 3: cheers to do that. Javi Morgan's launch on base, they
- 7:26Speaker 3: effectively just launched an asset, right, So these are different
- 7:29Speaker 3: layers of the stock. Deutsche Bank operating more on the
- 7:33Speaker 3: infrastructure layer, and something like what David Morgan did would
- 7:37Speaker 3: be a customer of Deutsche Bank.
- 7:39Speaker 1: In that case, JP Morgan Apollo now delivering project guarding.
- 7:44Speaker 1: This is coming in through you guys. So this is
- 7:46Speaker 1: cross chain portfolio management now, which is very unique, and
- 7:50Speaker 1: that's something that we will most likely see even more
- 7:53Speaker 1: as we start to see regulation. If we get market
- 7:55Speaker 1: structure likelihoods, we'll see more activity here in the US.
- 7:59Speaker 1: I'm looking at this right here. Ubix is now linking
- 8:02Speaker 1: stable coin issues like paxos r l USD with Ripple
- 8:06Speaker 1: now to banks. Will Axelar end up boosting r l
- 8:10Speaker 1: us D usage in the future because of these kinds
- 8:12Speaker 1: of connections.
- 8:13Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 8:14Speaker 3: From Axeler's perspective, all we're doing is removing is it
- 8:19Speaker 3: removing frixtion? Right, there's a lot of fragmentation in the space.
- 8:22Speaker 3: We just make it easy for people to move their assets.
- 8:25Speaker 3: If there is demand for us to be moved, then
- 8:28Speaker 3: that are going to fix accruing to the network, and
- 8:31Speaker 3: you know that's a revenue for the protocol.
- 8:34Speaker 1: One of the things that I'm looking at if you
- 8:36Speaker 1: look at ax Lar and it's option versus say layer zero. Uh,
- 8:41Speaker 1: and then you look at what you guys are doing
- 8:44Speaker 1: now and the opportunity, especially around something like say a
- 8:47Speaker 1: UNI swap. How will UNI swap play into this?
- 8:51Speaker 3: First, not the question about Acceller versus Layer zero. Axeler
- 8:56Speaker 3: has very unique cabinet right of different ecosystems. We have
- 8:59Speaker 3: x rps, well, we have Sui that we just launched,
- 9:03Speaker 3: and these are two change that there is a lot
- 9:04Speaker 3: of demand for and there's.
- 9:06Speaker 2: Really no meaningful competition.
- 9:08Speaker 3: Exactly, so if you wants to use those chains, they
- 9:11Speaker 3: will have to go with Axler.
- 9:12Speaker 2: Let's say you're a stable coin provider.
- 9:14Speaker 3: The other nice advantage of bax seller is that it
- 9:18Speaker 3: is one of the very very few decentralized solutions in
- 9:23Speaker 3: the interoperability space. And you remember Paul from a few
- 9:28Speaker 3: years ago that billions of dollars have been lost to
- 9:30Speaker 3: cross sair hucks.
- 9:32Speaker 2: It's really the biggest target of.
- 9:35Speaker 3: These are very hard attacks to execute if you are decentralized,
- 9:38Speaker 3: for the same reason why blocks ins are decentralized and
- 9:42Speaker 3: are very hard to attack. And acceler is by far
- 9:45Speaker 3: the most decentralized network in the space. It was one
- 9:49Speaker 3: of the only two networks that got approved by UNISWAP
- 9:52Speaker 3: when they did their interoperability report. And we're trying to
- 9:55Speaker 3: look at how secure different providers were. Axeler was dim
- 9:59Speaker 3: secure enough and the other one was Wormhole, which has
- 10:02Speaker 3: nineteen validators, which is about one fourth of what Axceller has. Right,
- 10:07Speaker 3: So if there are is heres that really value the
- 10:09Speaker 3: centralization being built on top of a permissions system.
- 10:14Speaker 2: Those values aligned with Acceller systems and they're going to
- 10:16Speaker 2: be using us, right, But.
- 10:18Speaker 3: I definitely don't think there's going to be one player
- 10:20Speaker 3: because the space is so big and there's all kinds
- 10:22Speaker 3: of customizations you can do to win different customers.
- 10:25Speaker 1: I mean, in essence, could axelar be the missing link
- 10:28Speaker 1: here for UNI swap to be able to onboard you know,
- 10:32Speaker 1: XRPL tokens. I mean, we could see an influx of
- 10:35Speaker 1: tokens available on UNI swap almost immediately just because the
- 10:38Speaker 1: use case opportunity.
- 10:40Speaker 3: Absolutely absolutely, And I don't want to talk too much
- 10:42Speaker 3: about some of the things that are not public, but
- 10:45Speaker 3: as I mentioned earlier, x RAP can be distributed to
- 10:48Speaker 3: anything that is connected to accelert. You could very well
- 10:51Speaker 3: provide liquidity on Unit Swap or liquid which you know
- 10:56Speaker 3: growing to be biggest than uniit shop, right, So anywhere
- 10:58Speaker 3: you want you can bring XRP and there's going to
- 11:01Speaker 3: be opportunities for people to earn more years, all right.
- 11:03Speaker 1: So if robin Hood needed an interoperable stack right now,
- 11:08Speaker 1: would they need something like what you guys are doing?
- 11:10Speaker 1: And why haven't they done it? If you look at
- 11:12Speaker 1: because they're getting ready to do a big announcement, most
- 11:14Speaker 1: likely this is going to be about interoperability. We're going
- 11:18Speaker 1: to see I guess at the thirtieth of June Flatt
- 11:22Speaker 1: is teasing this like crazy. Would this be something that
- 11:25Speaker 1: potentially could you could see in the future of where
- 11:29Speaker 1: robin Hood is going, especially around crypto.
- 11:31Speaker 3: And no matter what they launch, everyone's going to need
- 11:33Speaker 3: interportability otherwise your silent any single chain. If you're a
- 11:37Speaker 3: big player, you could decide to build out your own
- 11:41Speaker 3: interoperability solution.
- 11:44Speaker 2: This takes years.
- 11:44Speaker 3: There's a lot of things that can go wrong, as
- 11:46Speaker 3: we've seen in the past. Infrastructure coasts are very high.
- 11:50Speaker 2: You need a full, full time team focusing on that, right.
- 11:54Speaker 3: Interpretability is not something you do on the side, So
- 11:58Speaker 3: any of those players will want to use use one
- 12:00Speaker 3: of the existing solutions that have been built over the
- 12:03Speaker 3: past five years and battle tested right. So it is
- 12:07Speaker 3: becoming pretty clear that it's very hard for new entrants
- 12:10Speaker 3: to come and compete in the interoperability space.
- 12:13Speaker 2: Again, the mode five years.
- 12:14Speaker 3: Of building and battle testing these solutions is quite large,
- 12:18Speaker 3: and we really haven't seen any new entrance right except
- 12:21Speaker 3: for chain Link in the past last year. But Chailing
- 12:24Speaker 3: has also been working on this for like three four years.
- 12:27Speaker 3: I think they just have been in stealth, but they've
- 12:29Speaker 3: also been doing a lot of work for a long
- 12:31Speaker 3: long time.
- 12:32Speaker 1: Yeah, it just seems like we are at a point
- 12:34Speaker 1: right now where the entire financial ecosystem is getting ready
- 12:39Speaker 1: to be interoperable, which is going to be you know,
- 12:42Speaker 1: obviously this will be a big boom for the blockchain
- 12:45Speaker 1: side of it. Obviously for you guys, could be huge.
- 12:48Speaker 1: We're going to continue to keep an eye on this, Georgio,
- 12:50Speaker 1: So thank you so much for coming in today. We
- 12:52Speaker 1: appreciate it.
- 12:52Speaker 2: Thanks so much for having me.
- 12:54Speaker 1: But all right, so you guys are if you're not
- 12:56Speaker 1: part of the Diamond Circle, this is a place where
- 12:58Speaker 1: we do additional content for units. Its super easy to join,
- 13:01Speaker 1: it's free and all have to do is use the
- 13:03Speaker 1: link down below. Click that and of course it'll take
- 13:05Speaker 1: you over to our site. And of course, if you're
- 13:07Speaker 1: not following me out there on X do that. It's
- 13:09Speaker 1: just at Paul Baron. We'll catch you next time right
- 13:11Speaker 1: here on Techpath
