- 0:003 lifelong friends, 6 trusty balls and endless NFL ticks.
- 0:05Welcome to Three guys 6 Balls NFL Podcast.
- 0:08Welcome to episode 53 of Three guys 6 Balls NFL Podcast.
- 0:11I'm your host Joel and I'm here with my two Co host, Will and
- 0:14Avery. And joining us today is Avery's
- 0:16cousin Gavin. So Gavin, last time you were on
- 0:19the show, I wasn't here and Avery totally screwed it up and
- 0:23none of your audio or your video uploaded.
- 0:25So I had to cut the episode to make it sound like it was just
- 0:27Will and Avery the entire time. I haven't received any
- 0:30notifications yet saying it's not recording you.
- 0:32So hopefully this time you'll actually make your first
- 0:35appearance on the show. So you'll at least be on the
- 0:37show for a couple of seconds, I think.
- 0:39How you doing today Gavin? Pretty good, pretty good.
- 0:42Ready to talk about the draft? Yeah, so today we're going to
- 0:46still talk about the NFL draft, but we're going to do it a
- 0:48little bit different than we have been.
- 0:49So we're going to focus a little bit more on our teams this week.
- 0:53So this episode will have a little bit more emphasis on the
- 0:55Rams, Seahawks, and Bucks, but within that, we're still going
- 0:58to give you guys some information on several players
- 1:00in this draft class. But however, before we do that,
- 1:03I do have a question for Gavin, who is a Seahawks fan.
- 1:06So my question for you, Gavin, is why do you think the Seahawks
- 1:09are letting Kenneth Walker become a free agent?
- 1:12And do you think it's the right move?
- 1:14I'm very, very torn about letting Kenneth Walker walk.
- 1:17He has some of the best like eyes in the league as a running
- 1:20back. He can shift the run from one
- 1:22side of the field to the other and get a 20 yard breakaway on a
- 1:24play that looks dead. But to keep him we'd probably
- 1:27have to pay around 35 million in the next two years.
- 1:29We have to pay Jackson Smith and Jigba, Ernest Jones, Leonard
- 1:32Williams, Ochina Nuosu, Devin Witherspoon and Jason Myers.
- 1:36So with Etienne being a free agent and Algier, I think it's
- 1:40the better option to let him walk, pick up one of them and
- 1:44have a dual running back threat with Chardonnay.
- 1:46Yeah, I agree with you. I, I think the Seahawks view JSN
- 1:49as a more valuable piece to their long term success, at
- 1:52least on offense. And I think they realize they
- 1:54have to pay him soon. So because of the monster season
- 1:57he just had and him being eligible for a contract
- 1:59extension, I think they knew that they just couldn't afford
- 2:02to keep both guys. And I think they chose JSN over
- 2:05Kenneth Walker. I don't know if Will or Avery,
- 2:07you guys have any thoughts on that?
- 2:09Is Charbonne going to be back by the beginning of next season?
- 2:12I've, I think I've heard that he wasn't, but if we pick someone
- 2:15up it shouldn't affect the season too terribly, but I he
- 2:18might not be. I mean, just ACL tears take more
- 2:21than 14 months to recover, so I'm just just wondering, he told
- 2:26his Achilles. I get that it's different
- 2:27injury, but I'm just saying that.
- 2:29I want to ask before we jump into the rest of it.
- 2:31We touched on this the last time he was on, but obviously none of
- 2:34it recorded. Well, it recorded and just none
- 2:36of it got saved. What I don't remember that I
- 2:39don't remember? That, yeah, I know.
- 2:40No one is only only the three of us have a distant collective
- 2:44memory of it. It could have been a dream.
- 2:47So Gavin, you live in North Carolina, you're a brother, and
- 2:50your dad are all Panthers fans. You're surrounded by Panthers
- 2:54fans. Tell us a little bit why you
- 2:57decided to go against the grain and how long you've been a
- 3:00Seahawks fan. So the 2013 Super Bowl win, I
- 3:05saw the Seahawks won the Super Bowl and I was like, that's a
- 3:07pretty cool team. And during that offseason, I
- 3:10realized I just wanted to be a little different, you know,
- 3:12oppose everyone else in the household.
- 3:14And the Seahawks had just won a Super Bowl.
- 3:16So I was like, that's they're probably a pretty good team, I
- 3:19should root for them. And then the next season is when
- 3:21we threw the goal line interception to lose the Super
- 3:24Bowl. So that was that was a rough
- 3:26first season. But since then, yeah, I've
- 3:28wrapped them. We're just glad you didn't pick
- 3:29the Panthers. Yeah.
- 3:31Me too. You guys have any more Seahawks
- 3:33questions for Gavin before we get started?
- 3:35I mean, I've got some personal feelings, but I can keep those.
- 3:39I can keep this to myself I guess.
- 3:42We all know it's about the backwards pass.
- 3:44It was a fumble. Will you can let it out.
- 3:46Just I mean, I mean, the whistle, all things considered,
- 3:49the whistle Blues, the play was over.
- 3:51And then what's his face picked the ball up out of the niceties
- 3:54in his own heart. And sure, I guess we're
- 3:56rewarding nice people, but you can pick it up to score the two
- 3:59point and the whistle blew. And then the fact that they came
- 4:02on, well, the whistle never blew when you can hear it.
- 4:04And the replay, I mean, if we're going to gaslight people,
- 4:07gaslight appropriately. I just I mean, I think the play
- 4:11was over. Ram should have won that game.
- 4:14That's the opportunity. If the Rams would have won that
- 4:16game, it would have changed the entire outcome of the NFL
- 4:19season. Absolutely agree.
- 4:20There's this meme that floated around in 2017.
- 4:24It was right after North Carolina won the championship.
- 4:27And there was this rebound that Kennedy Meeks, the Carolina
- 4:32player, got. And it shows that like briefly
- 4:35his hand was on the out of bounds line, like briefly when
- 4:39he had possession of the ball. So it technically, if you were
- 4:41reviewing it, it would have been out of bounds on them, but they
- 4:45got it because it just didn't get reviewed.
- 4:47And there was this big thing. I mean, they they won the game
- 4:50like convincingly. And there was this meme and it
- 4:53was it made it look like it was very like serious and dramatic.
- 4:56They're like, you know, there's a lot of talk about Kennedy
- 4:58Meeks his hand being on the line.
- 5:01But if we actually take a closer look and it showed is like the
- 5:04slides on Instagram and it shows it like keep zooming in further
- 5:07and further into his hand. And then when you get to the
- 5:10last slide, it shows just a big ass championship ring on the
- 5:14finger. And I just whenever, whenever I
- 5:17hear any like play like it should have been this way.
- 5:20I'm like but if we take a closer look and it just shows like get
- 5:24wrecked dude, get right. Yeah, and that's why I was
- 5:27finished it with. There was still time in the game
- 5:30that wasn't the overtime play. There was still time in the game
- 5:33the Rams could have won if they were supposed to win and they
- 5:36just didn't so. Maybe next year.
- 5:39Looking pretty good right now. True, but you know league season
- 5:43hasn't even started yet so who knows.
- 5:44All right, well, let's move on to the NFL draft talk for this
- 5:47episode. So we've each prepared two first
- 5:49round players and two non first round players.
- 5:51We want our teams to draft. And So what we're going to do is
- 5:54we'll take turns talking about who we want our teams to draft
- 5:58and it'll give you guys a little bit of information about these
- 6:00guys along the way. So we're going to start with the
- 6:04first round players that we want our teams to draft.
- 6:06And Gavin, because you're our guest, why don't you get us
- 6:09started? Who is a player that you want
- 6:11your team, the Seattle Seahawks, to draft in the first round of
- 6:14the 2026 NFL Draft? Oh my.
- 6:18Hold on guys, I'm about to shit my pants.
- 6:21I have got to go. OK, I'll come and mute my mic.
- 6:24Pause it, but don't but leave this in.
- 6:26I am definitely leaving this. In Sorry, Dwayne.
- 6:37For the audience at home, just know that there has been so much
- 6:40stuff that we have not been recording for that was gold.
- 6:45Like a fire at my place. Like my roommate running in the
- 6:49background with a with two different pans on literal fire.
- 6:54I turn the camera around 'cause there's this, there's these
- 6:57French doors that open up to our deck and the off the deck is
- 7:02like a 8 foot drop onto the, the grass.
- 7:06Any three just drops the pan down and Will and Joel are
- 7:10looking at it and it drops it down and you can see this pyre
- 7:15of flames just shoot up. The whole house is smoking.
- 7:20He's just making something and he's just using way too much
- 7:22frigging oil. And so like everything just
- 7:24catches on fire. And I think the like the the
- 7:27electric, the electricity went out and like the Internet went
- 7:30out. But I wish there's a lot of
- 7:33good. Stuff so bad.
- 7:34If we had that on camera, I would put that as like our intro
- 7:37video. That would be the intro.
- 7:39Yeah, this podcast is fire. Yeah, that was a good one for
- 7:45sure. We had some rough starts to the
- 7:48first like I swear like 8 episodes like like it was never
- 7:53like we had, we experienced all the difficulties in one episode.
- 7:56It was like, no, there will be 8 different things that you don't
- 7:59even know about yet and we will sprinkle them out into eight
- 8:02different episodes. So 8 times we'll have to be like
- 8:05Fig troubleshoot some new problem.
- 8:08I will say it is pretty impressive that we've stuck
- 8:11around this long and I have to credit Joel.
- 8:14Joel has been the one driving and pushing the ship.
- 8:17So as far as podcasts go, I feel like a lot of them, you know,
- 8:21fizzle out within the first several months, but we've been
- 8:25keeping it going so. All right, well, Will's back.
- 8:28Will, did you make it to the bathroom?
- 8:30Yeah, so I do this thing called pre pushing where I start
- 8:34pushing on the way. That way, as soon as cheeks hit
- 8:36the seat or close to it, we're getting projectile and now we
- 8:39were out. Efficiency, efficiency,
- 8:42efficiency. I have, I have a 5 year old who
- 8:44turned 6 in a couple weeks and a three or a three-year old who
- 8:48turns 4 to later half of this year.
- 8:51And when you have two small children, you get this, Avery
- 8:56doesn't, even though I, you know, dad buys full that whole
- 8:58thing. You don't have a lot of time
- 9:02because the more time you're away, the more they're just
- 9:04going to get into something. Sharpies, pens, markers,
- 9:08whatever it may be. So you got to you got to walk in
- 9:11prepared, ready to go. Also, I changed my shirt because
- 9:15it was just a the pre pushing. We got it all dangerous.
- 9:18So you got I got it all sweaty. And so we're had the heavy
- 9:21sweater pull, you push. Now we're back.
- 9:24You got a little something on the shirt on the way.
- 9:27No, just just perspiration. No precipitation, just
- 9:31perspiration. All right, well, all of our
- 9:35listeners learned a little something extra about Will that
- 9:37they did not need to know today, but all right, Gavin.
- 9:40Pre pushing you're wasting time. That's all I'm saying here.
- 9:45It's a dangerous game all right, start slow.
- 9:48But hey, when you get a when you're a master pre pusher, hey
- 9:51does not work in public restrooms.
- 9:52The last thing you want to do is pre push, walk into a Walmart
- 9:55and then the stalls are full. Then you are.
- 9:58You don't know. It's an unfamiliar situation.
- 10:01You need to know exactly. Like if you were blind you could
- 10:03go in and navigate through if it's dark.
- 10:05You have to know the lay of the land before pre pushing.
- 10:09Otherwise you're just being very irresponsible.
- 10:12Everyone knows that. Oh.
- 10:13OK, OK. All right, all right, Gavin,
- 10:16give us a first round player that you want the Seahawks to
- 10:18draft. So on the Seahawks offensive
- 10:20line, there's a guy named Anthony Bradford.
- 10:23If you. Look him up, he's terrible.
- 10:24Yeah, if you look him up, you'll find upwards of 15 photos of him
- 10:28standing, watching the backfield as the play's going downfield.
- 10:32He he doesn't do a thing so I'd like the Seahawks to draft the
- 10:36offensive tackle Emmanuel Pregnant from Oregon.
- 10:39His run blocking is really where he really where he excels.
- 10:42He is pretty average pass blocking.
- 10:45If Kenneth Walker does end up leaving, whoever the new guy is
- 10:48will appreciate not having Bradford.
- 10:51Only thing that I've seen is his foot placements and like
- 10:55adjustments, so if there's someone like a Jared Verse going
- 10:59against him, that'll probably tilt in versus favor.
- 11:02But other than that he looks like a great run blocker.
- 11:05He'll be a fit, a great fit for the team if we end up getting
- 11:08him. The one thing I like about
- 11:09Pregnant is I think he's got a ton of experience and I think
- 11:11he's NFL ready. So like Emmanuel, Pregnant spent
- 11:14six seasons in college, three with Wyoming, 2 with USC and one
- 11:17with Oregon. And I think because of his
- 11:19experience, what you get with him is a high floor player who
- 11:23can step in and start for you right away.
- 11:25Like, I don't know if he has the most potential.
- 11:28I don't think he has as much potential as some of these other
- 11:30guys, but I think he's more pro ready than a lot of these other
- 11:33guys at his position. So if your team's looking for a
- 11:35player who you know where you don't have to develop him a ton
- 11:39on the offensive line, I think Emmanuel Pregnant is going to be
- 11:42a great option for them. I mean, as an Oregon fan, this
- 11:45guy's been awesome. He was a great pick up this last
- 11:47offseason. Definitely helped the run game a
- 11:49ton. They had, I mean, they had a
- 11:51stacked, stacked running backroom.
- 11:54I mean, to the point where in the college football video game
- 11:57they had Makai Hughes, who came out of Tulane, transferred to
- 12:00Oregon, they had them like rated 94 overall.
- 12:04I think he touched the ball five times the entire season just
- 12:08because of how deep the room was.
- 12:11And even then, like every single one of those running backs is
- 12:14going to end up getting drafted. And I think I'm a huge part of
- 12:18that is the run blocking. And Pregnon was a huge, huge
- 12:23boost to the line. I mean, Oregon's kind of in that
- 12:26stratosphere now where they kind of just reload rather than, you
- 12:30know, getting, you know, new guys and developing them.
- 12:33I mean, they are still doing that, but with the transportal
- 12:36transfer transportal, the transfer portal in a state that
- 12:39it is where everyone's swapping around every year.
- 12:43It is it is nice to have gotten this guy, especially out of USC.
- 12:47So I, I think he'd be a sweet, a sweet pick up for the the
- 12:51Seahawks. You said that on purpose, didn't
- 12:53you? Not at first.
- 12:54The second time, 100%, yeah. Will got anything to add?
- 12:59His combine breakdown is very good for him at 1st and
- 13:02production score 8 and athleticism and 1st overall.
- 13:05Again, we talked about this last week.
- 13:06I'm not sure it's 52140. He's a guard, right?
- 13:10Who cares? I don't care how fast he can run
- 13:1240 yards. I care how fast he can run 10
- 13:14yards. And his his his 10 yards split
- 13:17to 182, which is a bit on the slower side.
- 13:19But if they are able to retain Kenneth Walker and when you saw
- 13:22it in the Super Bowl, clear as day, Walker is one of the most
- 13:25patient backs out there. He will walk his way to the
- 13:28offensive line so they can set up their blocks and then burst
- 13:32through. And so they didn't they need to
- 13:33they will need to keep that in mind as they're trying to find
- 13:36the right pieces is that you're going to have to get someone
- 13:38patient, especially if we get a a little bit slower of a guard
- 13:42take it in and pull for us. And I like, I like the fit I do
- 13:45because because Bradford has literal Facebook, Instagram,
- 13:50social media pages set up just to showcase how bad he is.
- 13:55And I, I scroll through Instagram rails and it's just,
- 13:58oh, look at this Bradford highlight.
- 13:59And it's just him within block after block.
- 14:01It's in like like multiple pages of it.
- 14:04So so that this is a good this is a good use of their first
- 14:08round pick. All right, well, let's go to
- 14:10Avery. Avery, who's the first round
- 14:12player you want the Bucks to draft?
- 14:14Oh, I mean, ideally it would be Kenyan Siddiq, but I think he
- 14:19did way too well in the combine and I was hoping he would hold
- 14:23out a little bit more to not be as impressive to go down to
- 14:2715th, but I think he will go a lot earlier.
- 14:30So in the meantime, I'm hoping that Keldrick Falk will still be
- 14:35available. As someone who lived in Alabama
- 14:38the past six years, this dude was just impressive to me,
- 14:42especially considering he was on a very unimpressive team that
- 14:45entire six years. I think this guy is a high
- 14:47motor. Just as far as having another
- 14:49pass rusher. This guy, I thought he was great
- 14:52and I think I think he had enough.
- 14:54I guess I don't know what you call it perceived faults where I
- 14:57think he could fall down far enough to 15th.
- 15:01I feel like he could be picked up, you know, at the bottom of,
- 15:06you know, like top 10 for how good I think he is.
- 15:09And I'm just hoping that it's just one of those kind of, I
- 15:11want to say diamond in the rough.
- 15:12I mean, he's still clearly a first round pick, but if we can
- 15:16get him, if Sadiq is not available, I think he would be
- 15:19awesome. I know we talked about him on a
- 15:21earlier episode, but I just think his motor more than
- 15:24anything, just that relentless pursuit.
- 15:26I, I think he's, I think he's great also.
- 15:29I mean, not even just as a pass rusher, but just as a, as a run
- 15:33stopper, as just kind of a, a gadget kind of player.
- 15:36He reminds me of AI. Don't want to say a poor man's,
- 15:39but a poorer man's Sonny Styles to me.
- 15:43Maybe not, as you know, as athletic or as versatile, but at
- 15:48pick 15 that I, I would, I'd be ecstatic if we got him.
- 15:52Yeah, I'm going to agree with you, Avery, but only if
- 15:55something happens before the draft.
- 15:57So I think I would only want Keldrick Falk if there's already
- 16:00another established pass rusher on the roster.
- 16:03Because if you're drafting Keldrick Falk to come in and be
- 16:05the guy right away. That's just not what Keldrick
- 16:08Falk is right now. It's going to take time for
- 16:10Keldrick Falk as a pass rusher. So I think if the Bucks were to
- 16:13go into free agency and get a guy like Trey Hendrickson and
- 16:16then draft Keldrick Falk, I would like that a lot more than
- 16:19if they didn't bring in anyone and drafted Keldrick Falk.
- 16:22Because with Keldrick Falk, you're going to have have to
- 16:24wait probably at least two years, like 2-3 years for him to
- 16:29to get his potential out as a pass rusher because he's not
- 16:32going to come in right away and get 10 sacks as a rookie.
- 16:35He's just not. So I think they would have to
- 16:37get more of an established pass rusher on the team in order for
- 16:41me to be excited about them drafting Celtic Falk, at least
- 16:44right away. I could say that.
- 16:46No, yeah, yeah. I mean, I, I I guess I'm a
- 16:48little higher on him. I think he could produce a
- 16:51little quicker. I mean, I don't think he's
- 16:52necessary. He's 20 years old.
- 16:53I don't think he would be, you know, you know, in his prime at
- 16:57the beginning. But I've just been high on him
- 16:59for a little while. So a little bit of this is, you
- 17:02know, subjective, but I like to think it's objective.
- 17:07I think in a division where you're facing Dijon twice a
- 17:10year, you're facing either if they resigned Rico Duddle or
- 17:14Chuba Hubbard facing Tyler Shug as well.
- 17:16He seems to be adult threat. Definitely picking up someone on
- 17:19your defensive line and like you said picking up Trey Hendrickson
- 17:22to get him developed as well. I think with this pick up, the
- 17:25Bucks could definitely take back the NFC South and.
- 17:28The Bucks are going to do that anyway.
- 17:29That last year was a fluke. It was a fluke, right?
- 17:32Will give us a first round player you want the Rams to
- 17:34draft. So they trade away their pick
- 17:37that I really liked and I wanted to talk about more, but we still
- 17:40pick 13 and that is fine. And to put a little bit more
- 17:45contact, It's a realistic guy. We're not just obviously we've
- 17:48talked about what, 19820 guys or so so far and the top ten.
- 17:53Oh, I really want them to get this guy.
- 17:55That's just not realistic. Well, you know how spoiled you
- 17:58just sound right there? You know how spoiled you just
- 18:01sounded? The Rams made it to the NFC
- 18:03Championship Game. We only have picked 13.
- 18:06That's fine. Yeah, well, they could have a
- 18:09higher pick had you guys beat the Falcons.
- 18:12Sorry, we didn't. We wanted to screw you guys
- 18:13over. I mean, there's that anyway.
- 18:17And so we don't have a slide for this guy.
- 18:19But but then and if you look at, OK, let me tell you what I don't
- 18:22want first, because I think that's going to be easier.
- 18:25I don't want Makai Lemon at 13, don't want it.
- 18:29I don't. I don't want Jordan Tyson gets
- 18:32thrown in there a lot. I don't that is a terrible pick
- 18:3513 with all the injuries at the risk of of repeated last week,
- 18:41German McCoy, that wonderful man that is a man specifically I
- 18:46don't want him at pick 13 again because of injuries.
- 18:51There's a guy if they do end up making a pick at 13, offensive
- 18:55tackle from Georgia Monroe Freeling.
- 18:56We don't have a slide for him. I didn't bring him up unless you
- 18:59do have a slide for him. He had he is he is shooting up
- 19:04the boards right now because of his his athleticism and his his
- 19:08showing of the combine. He ran A49340 with a 1.7110 yard
- 19:14split as an offensive tackle. And by the way, this guy is 6
- 19:17foot seven, 315 lbs and so he's a big man who can move pretty
- 19:22well here at 33 1/2 inch vertical jump in a 9 foot 7
- 19:26broad jump. So he's quite athletic for a
- 19:28tackle. The way the game is going, he's
- 19:30he's like the tackle that they're they're molding people
- 19:34into long frame, long limbed, incredibly athletic.
- 19:38So if they do make a play, I don't think he's a day one guy.
- 19:42And that's my problem with pick 13.
- 19:43I think the top 15 or so, just like the NBA, right, The NBA
- 19:48lottery pick, you're picking a guy you want to come in and have
- 19:51valuable minutes in the game. And I view the same way in the
- 19:55NFL if you're picking in the top 15, which again, this isn't the
- 19:59Rams pick, this is the Falcons pick.
- 20:00But still, we're in the position where we're picking.
- 20:02I want a guy who's going to come in and produce.
- 20:04And not that Monroe Freeling couldn't.
- 20:07I just would rather them trade back into the first round 2O
- 20:11about pick 29 where they were at actually probably a bit earlier,
- 20:14right around pick 20 or so. And this is where I would like
- 20:17them to draft Ty Simpson. I do not want them to draft Ty
- 20:21Simpson at pick 13. I think it is an overreach for
- 20:24him. They can get more value out of
- 20:27trading back to somebody like the Steelers who is on the
- 20:30shortlist to draft Ty Simpson. I like Ty Simpson a lot.
- 20:34I I like that one of his biggest flaws is that he's uncomfortable
- 20:39in the pocket. When it starts collapsing, he
- 20:42starts to freak out. And who better to have right in
- 20:46front of him? Learning from the Matthew
- 20:48Stafford, I mean, that is like, that is like the guy to have
- 20:53pocket presence who's not going to get rattled, who's not going
- 20:56to scramble. The fact that he had any
- 20:58scrambling yards at NFC Championship game shocked me.
- 21:01But he's not looking. I mean, he will make a 1 yard
- 21:04pass when he could have ran for five.
- 21:06Like, that's the kind of quarterback Matthew Stafford is.
- 21:09And so to get him in in the late first round, have him have him
- 21:12sit behind Stafford for a couple years.
- 21:14It's not pretty, it's not sexy. It's not how you want to spend
- 21:17your first round pick. But even the Raiders are saying
- 21:20they're going to try to bring in a veteran and have Mendoza sit
- 21:23behind him. And that's the first pick.
- 21:26And so it's not really what you think of when you think of the
- 21:28second quarterback off the board, the number 2 quarterback
- 21:30that I would I would love for it in the late first round, not at
- 21:3313, but later on to take Ty Simpson.
- 21:36I don't think he makes it to the second round.
- 21:38So if you're trying to trade out of the first round, in the
- 21:40second round, you're just going to be out of luck.
- 21:41And there's not a lot of other quarterbacks I like in this
- 21:44draft. And then just trying to see what
- 21:46you have because it's already wasn't your pick.
- 21:48So you're already playing with house money.
- 21:50And so you saw it at Alabama and, and historically, pocket
- 21:54passing quarterbacks from Alabama have not done that well
- 21:57in the NFL. That is a statement I'm very
- 21:59comfortable making and so. What about the what about that
- 22:03one guy you know the the guy that you know that.
- 22:08What about Greg Becker? Was his name.
- 22:11Yep. I know what I'm saying.
- 22:12That other, the other one, yeah, they're also.
- 22:16Pocket passing quarterbacks Exactly.
- 22:19Coming out of Alabama with John David Booty.
- 22:22No, he was. No, that was just Alabama.
- 22:23That wasn't USC. Was it USC.
- 22:25It doesn't matter. It truly doesn't matter anyway.
- 22:27This is a big kind of like later in the first round, but they
- 22:29were required in trading. Otherwise we're going to get
- 22:32stuck with a Mackay Lemon or a Jordan Tyson to make me just
- 22:37mad. But hey, if, if, if anyone if
- 22:41anyone from Ohio State drops. Well, not anyway.
- 22:44If any of the top 4 from Ohio State drop to to 13, go and
- 22:48snatch them up. I would not hate a Cardinal Tate
- 22:51at 13. There's just no way.
- 22:53I wouldn't hate it at 15 either. Yeah, that'd be great.
- 22:56I wouldn't hate it if the buck strapped in one of those top
- 22:58four guys in the sixth round. I wouldn't hate that.
- 23:00Yeah, exactly, Exactly. That's great.
- 23:03There's just so much fluid in the.
- 23:04Situation. Yeah, so there's that.
- 23:07There's a whole lot of wind for a lot of content.
- 23:09I mean, I think there's a strong chance that the Rams do go after
- 23:12Ty Simpson in the first round. It would make sense because Ty
- 23:15Simpson is someone I think that needs to sit for at least a year
- 23:17before he starts in the NFL, and being drafted by the Rams would
- 23:20be the perfect situation for him.
- 23:22He can sit behind Stafford, learn for at least a year, and
- 23:24then come in and start after Stafford finally decides to
- 23:27retire. If Ty Simpson goes to a team
- 23:29like The Jets or the Browns and comes in and starts right away,
- 23:32I don't see that going well at all.
- 23:34He needs to go to a team like the Rams where he can sit for at
- 23:37least a year and learn. There's some really good things
- 23:39that show up on tape with Ty Simpson, such as his pre snap
- 23:42adjustments. He looks like a vet when he's
- 23:43doing his pre snap adjustments, but he also shows you why he's
- 23:47going to need some time to learn the NFL game.
- 23:49He holds onto the ball too long, he takes unnecessary sacks, he
- 23:52tries to make throws he can't make instead of just throwing
- 23:54the ball away. He's got the potential, but what
- 23:57he lacks is the experience. So I think the perfect situation
- 24:00for a guy like Ty Simpson would be to go to the Rams and sit
- 24:03behind Matthew Stafford. So I think it's a real
- 24:05possibility. Problem is, he's also been
- 24:07linked to the Steelers to sit behind Rodgers for a year if
- 24:10Rodgers decides to come back, and there's and the Lions as
- 24:13well to sit behind Goth for a few years.
- 24:16And so he's late to a few teams in the first round who don't
- 24:18need a lot of pieces. So it's going to be a bit of a
- 24:22dogfight and that's a middle late into the 1st to see where
- 24:25he goes. I like the idea of sitting him
- 24:28behind Stafford for a year, not not getting him started because
- 24:31I think that's that's become a big problem in the NFL is you
- 24:35play these quarterbacks straight out of the draft.
- 24:37They don't do well because they haven't had NFL training.
- 24:40And then you sit them. It's the problem with CJ Stroud.
- 24:43They keep trying him. He was a win then quarterback,
- 24:46he they figured out his game and he can't adapt.
- 24:49And that's why I like Bryce Young more than CJ Strat.
- 24:53He's kind of, he's adapting, he's growing, he's fitting into
- 24:56the NFL while CJ Stroud is regressing almost.
- 25:00And so I like, you know, drafting a quarterback to sit
- 25:02him. It's what happened with Sam
- 25:03Darnold. He wasn't that good in the
- 25:05beginning, you know, sat, moved around, figured out the NFL and
- 25:09then he's bought out the past two years.
- 25:11I think it's a good move to draft quarterbacks to set them
- 25:14for a couple years. I I don't like starting
- 25:16quarterbacks straight straight out of the draft.
- 25:18I also I'm I'm on the same page as well.
- 25:20I think that, I mean, I know every position is a mental
- 25:24position. Like you kind of have to, you
- 25:26know, get into it. And it's one of those things
- 25:29where it's kind of like, I don't know, learning a new skill,
- 25:31learning a new sport, learning a new language, where there's that
- 25:34point where you're having to kind of like manually think
- 25:37through every action. And then at some point it clicks
- 25:41and then you're not having to think and you're just doing.
- 25:44And I think that being a quarterback in the NFL,
- 25:46especially for any given team, like it just requires, I mean
- 25:50that that's basically the difference between making the
- 25:52throw and being sacked is just that split time decision.
- 25:56And if you're not fully comfortable, if you're not fully
- 25:59in it, if you're not fully like, you know, aware and, you know, I
- 26:04guess what would the word be just locked into the system in
- 26:07the scheme Like that could be the make or break point.
- 26:11And so I think, I mean, I feel like honestly, every single
- 26:14quarterback in the league is capable.
- 26:16It's really a matter of, you know, does the coaching staff
- 26:18trust you? Have they put you in a good
- 26:20position? Are they playing to your
- 26:21strengths? You know, do you feel
- 26:23comfortable? Do you have a good line?
- 26:24Do you and all of these, all of these things that go into it?
- 26:27But I do feel like you're kind of with Sam Darnold.
- 26:29I mean, I would say it's like, yeah, probably took him a few
- 26:32years to like figure it out. But also it's like, I mean, were
- 26:35you in a good situation? You know, it's like, you know,
- 26:37Sam Darnold could go back to The Jets and have the exact same
- 26:40season he had, you know, when he first started, you know, where
- 26:43it's like maybe just wasn't a good situation where that's I
- 26:46kind of do like, you know, the the fact that quarterbacks do
- 26:50kind of swap teams because it is kind of more of a matter of
- 26:52finding that right team. But I mean, then there's also
- 26:55like the Jimmy Garoppolo situation where, you know, you
- 26:58sit in behind Tom Brady a little while and everyone's like, oh,
- 27:00dude, this is the next Tom Brady.
- 27:02This is his protege. And he comes in and plays and
- 27:04he's like, he's all right. He goes to San Francisco, he's
- 27:07all right. And then never really, you know,
- 27:09finds a group. And sometimes it's just unlucky.
- 27:11Sometimes the fan base, the, the, the, the position that the
- 27:14teams in is just into just not ready or not able to make that
- 27:18time commitment. So a lot of times it just
- 27:21happened. It just comes down to luck and
- 27:23just getting the right timing. I mean, like Brock Purdy as an
- 27:26example with someone who came in and then made a big splash which
- 27:30propelled him. And so I think he'd be capable.
- 27:32I think it's just a matter of, you know, if it's the right time
- 27:36and if he's got the right pieces around him.
- 27:37Cool. Well, let's I'll move on to my
- 27:39player that I want the Bucks to draft in the first round that is
- 27:42Miami Edge, Akim Mizador. I want them to draft Akim
- 27:46Mizador regardless of what they do in free agency.
- 27:48If the Bucks don't address pass rusher in free agency, drafting
- 27:51a key Mesador would make a ton of sense because I think he's
- 27:54the best pass rusher in the draft.
- 27:55I really do. But even if the Bucks do address
- 27:58pass rusher in free agency, I would still want them to draft a
- 28:00key Mesador because you can never have too many pass
- 28:03rushers. So if the Bucks go out and sign
- 28:053 pass rushers in free agency, that's great.
- 28:08Now go out and draft another one.
- 28:10The Bucks pass rush was so bad last season.
- 28:13Just bring in as many guys as possible who are even somewhat
- 28:16capable of rushing the passer. Hakim Mesador, in my opinion, is
- 28:19an NFL ready pass rusher right now.
- 28:22He's got the talent, he's got the experience, and he's had
- 28:25coaching from an NFL Hall of Fame edge rusher in Jason
- 28:28Taylor. So I think he would be a perfect
- 28:30fit for the Bucks because they just need a ton of help on the
- 28:34edge. So for me, I would pick Hakim
- 28:36Mesador as a guy that I want the Bucks to draft in the first
- 28:38round. The only real knock we added him
- 28:41was that he's going to be 25 years old as a rookie, right?
- 28:44And so you're not getting length of career, I guess out of them,
- 28:48but what you're getting is a good relatively cheap player in
- 28:52the long run. We'll see.
- 28:53The thing with the length of career is I don't necessarily
- 28:56think that's even much of A concern because you look at guys
- 28:58like Trey Hendrickson, if they're good and they're in
- 29:02their 30s, people don't care. A lot of teams want Trey
- 29:05Hendrickson, even though he's over 30 and he's in the back
- 29:09half his career, he's still really good and a lot of people
- 29:12still want him. So if Akim Mesador comes in and
- 29:15he's really good, I bet you the Bucks would still want to keep
- 29:17him. And if not, there would be
- 29:19someone in the NFL that wants to get Akim Mesador.
- 29:22All right, well, let's move on to the let's move on to the non
- 29:24first round players. I know we each prepared two
- 29:27first round players, but just for the sake of time, let's move
- 29:29on to the non first round players.
- 29:31So Gavin, why don't you give us a non first round player that
- 29:35you want the Seahawks to draft? I think I'll go with Jalen
- 29:38Kilgore from USC. He is basically the counterpart
- 29:43to Nicky Manwari. Nicky Manwari should have been
- 29:47Defensive rookie of the Year in my opinion, and he is the
- 29:52opposite of that he is. Swessinger, Baby.
- 29:55It no, no, but as Evan Warriors a like cornerback safety hybrid,
- 30:03Kilgore is more of a safety linebacker.
- 30:06He's quick to the run. If you line him up against the
- 30:08receiver, he's a little slow. He'll he'll get beat.
- 30:11But when you line him up against a tight end is where he excels.
- 30:14And going into the Rams twice a year, they do like, I think it
- 30:19was somewhere on like 70% of their offensive plays were in a
- 30:22triple tight end set. So having him to kind of
- 30:26counteract that is just very beneficial.
- 30:29Only thing he that he really struggles with is he's a little
- 30:32slow and breaking blocks once once you, you know, get get on
- 30:37him, it's kind of hard for him to break away.
- 30:39But other than that, he completely counteract the triple
- 30:43tight end for the Rams. And that's our main competitor
- 30:46in the division. So I'm, I'm pretty high on him.
- 30:50I think he'd be a huge piece for our defense.
- 30:52Yeah, I think Jalen Kilgore just feels like a guy who the
- 30:55Seahawks would target because I see him similar to Nick Emanori.
- 31:00Jalen Kilgore is a guy who you can move around the defensive
- 31:02formation to play different positions.
- 31:04He played safety, he played corner, he played all around the
- 31:07defense in South Carolina, and I think those are the type of guys
- 31:10that Mike McDonald likes on his defense.
- 31:12What I really like about him, though, is I think Jalen Kilgore
- 31:16is a guy who is just around the football all the time.
- 31:19He has 21 pass deflections and eight interceptions in three
- 31:22seasons. He's constantly just putting
- 31:24himself in position to make plays, and so I think he would
- 31:27be a perfect fit for the Seattle defense because again, like I
- 31:31said, that's just kind of like the guy that they like on their
- 31:34defense. So I think he would be a great
- 31:36fit for them. I'm a big fan of just the
- 31:38positional flexibility. I just think as far as the
- 31:40Seahawks defense, I mean it. It is wild to me that basically
- 31:44since 20/13/2012 that Seahawks defense has kind of become
- 31:49synonymous with like Ravens or Steelers defense.
- 31:52It's more of like the secondary maybe, but it's just one of
- 31:55those things where, geez, even with a total dynasty change,
- 31:59they still come back and are just like totally feared.
- 32:02And I feel like this guy reminds me.
- 32:04He looks like someone who could come on and kind of resemble, I
- 32:08don't want to say match, but resemble, you know, that Legion
- 32:11of Boom, just those guys that can just go anywhere.
- 32:13I mean that whole team, besides just being freakishly athletic
- 32:18and again, very physically intimidating, a big part of that
- 32:22legion of boom is just their intelligence and just knowing
- 32:24where to be. And it was just one of those
- 32:27things where it's just a devastating.
- 32:28I mean, when they played the the Broncos and they had the number
- 32:31one offense and absolutely shut them down.
- 32:33I see a lot of this kind of the same thing with the mental
- 32:36acuity of of quarterbacks just knowing where to be.
- 32:39I feel like, especially on defense, that positional
- 32:42flexibility helps them to understand what is going on on
- 32:46the field to be able to make those quick adjustments.
- 32:49And I think this guy would fit in great.
- 32:50I. Mean we're those 20 bad right
- 32:52when we've talked to this guy quite a bit.
- 32:54Question for you Gavin. What round you want him in?
- 32:56What round is What round is appropriate to draft him in?
- 32:59I was thinking somewhere around because we have the last pick, I
- 33:03was thinking second, probably third, somewhere in there just
- 33:06because it's the last pick. So our second round pick is
- 33:08essentially a third round pick and our third round pick is a
- 33:10fourth round pick. So I'd like to take him with our
- 33:13second because I feel like he will be taken somewhere around
- 33:16there. But if we can get them with our
- 33:18third, maybe even trade up for him, I would be willing to do.
- 33:21I'd be willing to give away, you know, our fifth round pick to
- 33:24trade up for Jetlin Kilgore in the third.
- 33:26And incredibly athletic because as we talked about, he's, I
- 33:29don't want to say one-of-a-kind athlete, but, but you don't get
- 33:32a lot of two things. 1, he, he was in the Senior Bowl, right?
- 33:35So he has lots of, a lot of college experience and still
- 33:38willing to kind of do everything and go anywhere just to make the
- 33:41play. And so whatever my team needs,
- 33:44I'm going to do it. And those are the kind of guys
- 33:46that you especially, especially when you're not a first round
- 33:49talent, those are the guys that you really want to work for
- 33:52where it's not just about how good they are at playing
- 33:56football. It's hey, how much do they help
- 33:58the team everywhere else with his ability to to make a hit
- 34:01and, and, and be fearless in the play.
- 34:04He'll be a great special teams guy until they need them to
- 34:06actually roll in and and be a a key rotational player in the
- 34:09defense. I like them a lot.
- 34:11Just as a quick side note before we get roasted on the Internet,
- 34:14we are aware it is JALON. Sometimes we make spelling
- 34:18errors. OK, whatever.
- 34:19Move on. Also needs to show Will Finest
- 34:25to take on blocks. That's another one.
- 34:26I just wanted to point that out before someone else thinks
- 34:29they're smart for having seen that first.
- 34:31Oh, yeah, we, we, we caught you. Yeah, we do.
- 34:34One thing one thing I noticed is I type in these things and tell
- 34:38ChatGPT what to say, but ChatGPT sucks at spelling, Sucks at
- 34:43spelling, even though I tell you exactly how to spell the word.
- 34:46Especially when it has to create a visual from the text.
- 34:50It's just it's, it's out there. So.
- 34:53But I think everyone can see that, know exactly what that
- 34:56word is. So yes, I can, but I'm pretty
- 34:58sure everyone else can. You hear no comments to
- 35:03yourself. We get it.
- 35:04We know how to spell. Yeah, You're not as smart if you
- 35:06put it in there. If you put it in there and and
- 35:10we already brought it up, you're not you're not funny.
- 35:13You're not original. Mom's a hoe.
- 35:17Don't cut that. They need to know.
- 35:20I'm not. I'm leaving everything in this
- 35:22episode. Good, good.
- 35:24Uncensored. Put that in there with with
- 35:27Avery's cousin. Uncensored family's going to
- 35:30love that. My family all right, let's move
- 35:34on. All right will give us a non
- 35:36first round player. You want the Rams to draft.
- 35:39All right, let's go with Notre Dame wide receiver Malachi Bell
- 35:44or Field. Excuse me, It's it's Markel
- 35:46Bell. Malachi Fields.
- 35:48My bad. I was really.
- 35:49Hoping you were going to pick him because I have some things I
- 35:51want to say about him, but I'll let you go first.
- 35:53OK, well, sure. 6 foot 4, 1 Sieber out of Notre Dame.
- 35:58This dude catches nearly everything 3 drops in the last
- 36:02two years. The problem is his his main
- 36:04problem is that he went to Notre Dame and Notre Dame has probably
- 36:08the best overall athlete, well offensive athlete coming out of
- 36:14their team this year in the draft in Jeremiah Love.
- 36:17And so they just handed in the ball a lot.
- 36:19And I think a lot of his problems, he's his route running
- 36:23is not great. He doesn't get separation.
- 36:25He doesn't get this, that and the other.
- 36:27Imagine being on a high school team with Derrick Henry, right
- 36:31as a receiver on a high school team with Derrick Henry.
- 36:34You're not doing anything. You're not getting scouted.
- 36:37You don't have the ability to do anything.
- 36:39You're not throwing the football.
- 36:41All right, here you go. All right, here you go.
- 36:43And even blocking for something like Derrick Henry, he didn't
- 36:46need to do that. He was in a low level anyway.
- 36:49Now, I do wish Malachi was more a consistent Walker.
- 36:54That is one of his takeaways. Not great at run blocking, just
- 36:58in general. A lot of times because he's a
- 37:00bigger size, they had him chasing down the safety and
- 37:03we're trying to chase that a safety and you open field, make
- 37:05a block. As a receiver who already
- 37:07doesn't have refined blocking, it's just not an easy task.
- 37:10He's incredibly gifted at making a contested catches and making
- 37:14high pointing the ball and and making and making the 5050 balls
- 37:18look more like his every time. Great receiver in that aspect.
- 37:21I think he will do great sitting behind Devante Adams and Devante
- 37:26Adams first year of his contract.
- 37:27I don't think he is a he's not a day one starter.
- 37:31I don't think he should be. I think he needs to come in and
- 37:33learn how to be an NFL receiver, learn how to expand his route
- 37:38tree, learn how to get off the line of scrimmage.
- 37:40And who better than a similar style receiver than Devante
- 37:43Adams? So here's what I have to say
- 37:44about Malachi Fields. Malachi Fields reminds me of
- 37:47Keyon Coleman. If you go look at the scouting
- 37:50reports for Malachi Fields and the scouting reports for Keyon
- 37:52Coleman when he went into the draft, they are very similar.
- 37:56Both use their size to win jump balls, both are hard to bring
- 37:58down after the catch, and both struggle to create separation.
- 38:02They even have very similar testing numbers.
- 38:04They both ran a 461 fourty at the Columbine and they both have
- 38:08a 38 inch vertical. They both have the same arm
- 38:10length, they both have the same hand size, and they pretty much
- 38:13weigh the same. Obviously the team situation and
- 38:17the player personality and all that impacts how things turn out
- 38:19in the NFL, but these two guys are very similar, and Keon
- 38:23Coleman's just not it. And so I'm not so sure that
- 38:26Malachi Fields is either. Obviously the situation with the
- 38:29Rams is different than what Keon Coleman went into because he
- 38:33would have Puku Nakua and Devante Adams to teach him.
- 38:36But the way that they play the game is just very similar.
- 38:40And so I'm not really a big fan of Malachi Fields because I'm
- 38:43not a big fan of Keon Coleman. I think the difference here is
- 38:47that Malachi Fields wouldn't step in and be expected to be
- 38:53the guy, right? Keon Coleman Draft would pick
- 38:55#33 first pick in the second round, that is.
- 39:00It's it's not the first round, I get that, but still you are
- 39:05expected to step in and produce now in that field.
- 39:08I like drafting him in the fourth round and there's just
- 39:11different expectations. I also think the offensive
- 39:14scheme of the Rams is significantly different than the
- 39:18offensive scheme of the Bills and I don't think it's
- 39:22beneficial to Big X receivers. And so and so I think that's one
- 39:28reason. I think if Keon Coleman had gone
- 39:30somewhere else, then he probably would be much better, but his
- 39:33expectations were too high and the team just did not support
- 39:37him the way they should have it. Yeah, honestly.
- 39:40So I I get the hesitancy, but I think expectation and team fit
- 39:45are key and instrumental in that.
- 39:48Yeah, I agree with that. All right Avery, give us a non
- 39:51first round player you want the Bucks to draft.
- 39:53Why? Don't you go ahead and go to him
- 39:56right now. Don't you go ahead and go to him
- 39:58right now. This guy's out of Texas.
- 40:02Yeah, yeah. I like this guy a lot.
- 40:05Anthony Hill Junior. The one thing, the one thing
- 40:09that I'm not a huge fan of that I hope he can figure out is his
- 40:13individual pursuit. Just too many plays where I see,
- 40:17you know, a guy in the open field one-on-one and just get
- 40:21lost by the Chevy. That's literal.
- 40:23That's like the only thing that I'm not a huge fan of that I
- 40:26hope he can improve on. This guy is is strong, he's
- 40:30athletic, he's getting picks out there.
- 40:32He's basically looking like a safety, honestly, but playing in
- 40:35just kind of that midfield area. I think he would be a sweet
- 40:40addition to the Bucks. I don't know if it's necessarily
- 40:43what they would need completely. I think there might be a better
- 40:47position for this pick for the second round pick.
- 40:50But Anthony Hill junior is a baller.
- 40:53I like him a lot and I think he would be a stud in Tampa Bay.
- 40:58I agree. I like Anthony Hill junior a lot
- 40:59because I think he can do a little bit of everything that
- 41:02you need your linebacker to do. He diagnosis plays well, he can
- 41:06tackle well, he can cover and he can rush the passer.
- 41:09In three seasons at Texas, he played in 40 games and he had
- 41:13250 tackles, 17 sacks, 8 forced fumbles and three interceptions.
- 41:17He doesn't just have the tape to show you that you can do a
- 41:20little bit of everything. He has the numbers to actually
- 41:22back it up. So right now I think he's one of
- 41:24those fringe first round players.
- 41:26But if he makes it out of the first round, whoever drafts him
- 41:29is getting an absolute steal. And honestly, I don't think
- 41:32there's much separation as everyone thinks there is between
- 41:35him and some of the other top linebackers in this class.
- 41:38I like my linebackers to be able to rush and to be able to cover
- 41:41well and from what I've seen from this guy, you can do about
- 41:44those things. He does have his downsides like
- 41:46every player, but I I actually do really enjoy watching this
- 41:50guy play and I think I think he would be a great fit and do
- 41:53really well on Temple Bay I. Just don't want the Bucks to
- 41:55have him so he's terrible. Yeah.
- 41:59Yeah, I'm just getting. Back take, take, Yeah.
- 42:01Don't take him, Don't take him. Will, as a member of this
- 42:04podcast, your secondary team is supposed to be the Bucks.
- 42:09You should want them to be successful.
- 42:10Yeah, yeah. Don't mind the John Lynch jersey
- 42:13hanging in the background. I.
- 42:15Screw the Rams. Then I, I, I, I think it has
- 42:22been huge moving to the SEC for him and for most of the Texas
- 42:27players, but especially the defensive Texas players is the
- 42:30SEC and it's, it's definitely changing, but it actually SEC
- 42:34has played more like the NFL in the past where it is, it is
- 42:39larger humans, it is faster play.
- 42:41I think the Big 10 is kind of taking that over now just just
- 42:45from the sure pure athleticism that the game is shifting to.
- 42:50But moving to the SEC and having to play against those, those
- 42:54players on all of the teams, I think it's made him
- 42:57significantly better and has grown him as a player and I
- 43:00think it'll translate over well. So I think it's a great pick up
- 43:03and you're right. So if you can get them out of
- 43:04the first round, it's going to be an even better pick up.
- 43:07Absolutely. All right, so for my non first
- 43:09round player, I want the Bucks to draft.
- 43:12I'm going to go with Oregon linebacker Bryce Becher.
- 43:15Bryce Becher reminds me of the linebacker version of Baker
- 43:19Mayfield. He's a former walk on who plays
- 43:21with a chip on his shoulder. He's undersized for the
- 43:24position, but he plays fearless and he's one of those tough,
- 43:27gritty players who refuses to back down from anybody and I
- 43:31think he's a great leader. I think Bryce Becher will make a
- 43:33significant impact in the NFL in some phase of the game right
- 43:37away. I feel like he's more of a guy
- 43:39who will start on special teams 1st and then work his way into a
- 43:42role on defense. But even if he's just a special
- 43:45teams guy, that's perfect for the Bucks because special teams
- 43:48either cost them or almost cost them the game.
- 43:51A lot of games last year, it was a reason that the Bucks almost
- 43:54lost to The Jets. It was a reason that they did
- 43:57lose to the Eagles. Special teams was not good for
- 44:00the Bucks last year. And so they fired their special
- 44:02teams coach and they brought in former Steelers special teams
- 44:05coach Danny Smith, who's one of the best special team coaches in
- 44:08the NFL. And now it's time for them to go
- 44:10out and get some players with the type of mentality that Bryce
- 44:13Becher has to help this special teams unit get better.
- 44:16And so any coach would love to have Bryce Becher because of his
- 44:19competitive nature and the mentality that he brings to the
- 44:23team. You don't become part of the
- 44:25Caucasian collision unit without having some serious grit to you.
- 44:28So I really like Bryce Becher a lot in the later rounds and I
- 44:32would love for the Buccaneers to draft him.
- 44:34He's not even the the best part of the Caucasian collision unit.
- 44:37He's not but the way but he's. Still I could.
- 44:41You you have to be able to play the way he plays to be part of
- 44:44the Caucasian collision unit. This guy was so good.
- 44:48He's so good. I think a separate piece here
- 44:52you didn't mention is, is he has a baseball background and these
- 44:57these prospects, these athletes, these these players at at every
- 45:02sport who were high level in multiple sports.
- 45:07I think it gives them a leg up in whatever sport they
- 45:09eventually play in, except maybe Kyler Murray.
- 45:11But still, he was top five pick in both the MLB and the NFL.
- 45:17And so that that's huge. That's huge for that.
- 45:19It's huge for everything. And so when you were able to
- 45:22play at a high level of multiple sports, increases your ball
- 45:26knowledge and your your sport IQ across the board, because
- 45:30although not every skill translates over seeing the ball
- 45:35is a huge piece of of it all. And so I, I don't want to
- 45:38overlook that that aspect of this game as well.
- 45:40We're getting along with time. So I think what we're going to
- 45:42do is we'll go through each of us one more time, but I'll give
- 45:46you guys the option to do a first round player or a non
- 45:50first round player. So Gavin, we're back to you.
- 45:52Give us either a first round or a non first round player that
- 45:55you want the Seattle Seahawks to draft.
- 45:57Oh, I think from non first round players, Xavion Thomas from LSU
- 46:02as a receiver he does struggle with contested catches.
- 46:05His route running on deep balls and the ball tracking is a
- 46:09little off. But you could be a useful tool
- 46:12on our offense and an even better one for our special
- 46:14teams. So I'm really curious with
- 46:16Xavion Thomas why LSU didn't use him as a kick returner much in
- 46:202025? Because in 2024, he had 24
- 46:23kickoff returns for 633 yards and a touchdown.
- 46:27And then he also has a kickoff return in 2023 and a part return
- 46:31touchdown in 2022. So he didn't do it much in 2025.
- 46:35I'm not really sure why LSU didn't use him much as a
- 46:39returner, but in 2024 he was very good as a returner.
- 46:43So I think at the very least, what you're going to get from
- 46:45Xavion Thomas is a guy who will be a special teams contributor
- 46:49for you right away. I think these kind of players
- 46:51are always kind of hit or miss. You know, there's always a a
- 46:54handful of these just speedy guys.
- 46:57Who is that? Who is that dude from Florida
- 47:01like a decade and a half ago? Percy Harvin.
- 47:03Percy Harvin. Percy Harvin, it's just these
- 47:06guys that come out, you know, and just have this just elite
- 47:09shiftiness and speed can clearly be a, you know, a game breaker,
- 47:13a play breaker and just like absolutely scorch the defense.
- 47:17And I feel like sometimes it just it's kind of just a, you
- 47:19know, a flip of a coin, whether or not they actually produce
- 47:22what you want them to. If they get, you know, shut down
- 47:25if you on the the the opposing defenses, like regardless of
- 47:29what happens, we will not be giving this man an opportunity.
- 47:32And then it could just shut down his production all together and
- 47:34kind of inadvertently, I want to say end his career, but shorten
- 47:39it just because he's like, I mean, I don't have anything else
- 47:42to show if no one's, you know, giving me the ball.
- 47:44So I think it's kind of one of those things where it's like,
- 47:46Hey, if you guys have faith in him, I'd say go for it because I
- 47:49think there's, you know, only a handful of these guys every
- 47:51year. But you know, if you if you pick
- 47:53right, you know it's huge all. Right Avery, back to you.
- 47:57Give us either a first round or non first round player you want
- 48:00the Bucks to draft. Oh, I was hoping he would fall a
- 48:03little lower. He looks like he's like mid
- 48:07first round, which I mean it's still first round but I was kind
- 48:09of hoping he would be second round from watching them all
- 48:12year long. But Dylan Theeman is a unit, A
- 48:17unit. This guy played at Oregon,
- 48:21played the first, you know, couple years at Purdue.
- 48:23Dude was everywhere. The white boys are definitely
- 48:25making a comeback to the secondary and he is no
- 48:29exception. I think he's going to have a
- 48:30long, long career in the NFL. Dude is just a ball hawk.
- 48:34Just anywhere, anywhere that ball is, he is there.
- 48:37He made the game ending pick against Penn State at the white
- 48:40out game. Read that play, knew it from in
- 48:44the beginning of it. Got exactly in a position, but
- 48:47not too early, not too late, made the pick.
- 48:49I think this guy, he's the he's the opposite.
- 48:52He's the other end of the Caucasian collision unit with
- 48:54Bryce Becher. Dude is just sneaky good.
- 48:56He he doesn't look like a beast, but this guy will hit you like a
- 49:00Mack truck. I would love it to not.
- 49:03I would love to not have to root against this guy when Tampa Bay
- 49:06plays him by again. I, I, I, I think he's awesome.
- 49:12So yeah, Dylan Theeman out of Oregon, I would love it if we
- 49:15got him. Yeah, I think he would be a good
- 49:17thing with the Bucks. The only thing is that I think
- 49:19the Bucks would have to trade down out of pick 15 in order to
- 49:24get him because I don't think they're going to pick him at
- 49:26pick 15 and I don't think he's going to be there when the Bucks
- 49:29pick in the second round, so. Nope, he's in a weird he's in a
- 49:33weird position. I've seen I've seen him at pick
- 49:3616. So I'm, I mean, it kind of
- 49:38depends on, you know, where he'd be at.
- 49:40But I think, I think it would be, I don't want to say
- 49:44irresponsible. I would enjoy it, but I think
- 49:47there might be better people at pick 15 to grab than him.
- 49:51So he is just in a in an awkward spot.
- 49:54Yeah, and especially because safety for the Bucks is actually
- 49:58a strength. I know it didn't look like it,
- 50:00but that was because their pass rush was so awful that these
- 50:04guys were out there having to cover for like 20 seconds.
- 50:06The quarterback's just standing back there and doing whatever he
- 50:09wants. So safety is actually a strength
- 50:11for the Bucks, but it just didn't look like it because the
- 50:13pass rush was just so bad. So all right, well, we're back
- 50:17to you. Give us either a first round or
- 50:19a non first round player that you want the Rams to draft.
- 50:22Let's stick with the non first round people.
- 50:25Let's go with offensive tackle from Miami, their other side.
- 50:28We've already talked about Francis Mellinoa.
- 50:30This is the other side of the line with Markel Bell.
- 50:33This dude is 6 foot 9. He his playing weights about
- 50:37£350. He ran the 40 at 536 and 10
- 50:41yards split at 184. So he's not fast, but boy howdy
- 50:46is he strong. And when you also forgot to
- 50:48mention well that he has 36 inch arms.
- 50:52Yes, yeah, well, that's I was, I was getting that 30.
- 50:56Oh, I'm on the wrong guy. There we go. 36 six inch arms,
- 51:00almost 36 1/2 inch arms. The problem is he only has nine
- 51:03in chance, which to put into perspective, Josh Allen has 10
- 51:08and three quarter in chance. OK.
- 51:10And so so does that really matter as an offensive lineman?
- 51:14Somewhat. You do want bigger hands because
- 51:17you're trying to to block and not grab.
- 51:19But with long arms you can get your hands out there faster or
- 51:22or sooner. He had a really unique size to
- 51:25athleticism. He is quite athletic for his
- 51:29size. The problem is he's very top
- 51:30heavy and so he leans along with his waist.
- 51:34I get this under development to a guy I would want to see in the
- 51:37fifth round maybe maybe maybe early 6 by just due to sheer
- 51:42size and athleticism. I want to bring him in and see
- 51:44what he can do. You see here our our one sheet 0
- 51:48sacks allowed this year when he got his hands on defenders, he
- 51:51did not let them get to Carson back very similar well, kind of
- 51:56semi similar play style on the Rams where you've got
- 51:59quarterback back there trying to throw the ball Carson back to
- 52:02run a little bit more. But moving forward, Matthew
- 52:04Stafford is not the forever piece.
- 52:06He's near retirement and whoever comes in is it just innately
- 52:11going to be more athletic? And so and that's just that's
- 52:15what magic Stafford to step up from Peyton Manning, right?
- 52:19And so you're going to get more athletic as you get down
- 52:24generations just because the game has changed.
- 52:27Your problem is is that he is not great in the run defense.
- 52:30He is not great on the second level.
- 52:33He's too slow. Honestly, what it comes down to.
- 52:37And so when watching his tape on run blocks, they pretty much had
- 52:41him pass block on run blocks, except he just didn't come off
- 52:44the line of scrimmage. He just kind of leaned forward
- 52:47and grabbed the guy in front of him and just kind of either spun
- 52:51him because he's physically stronger and we just spin you to
- 52:54open up a hole, or he just turns his hips to to seal off the edge
- 52:58so he's not getting downfield to run blocks.
- 53:00So he's going to have to learn how to do that in the NFL, which
- 53:02is why he's so much lower than Francis Malinova is because he
- 53:06his past walking arguably better, but he just can't run
- 53:09block at any level beyond one step past the line of scrimmage.
- 53:14He's just not moving people because his pad level is too
- 53:17high. He's not going to get low enough
- 53:18because he's 6 foot 9 to get under people to lift him and
- 53:21move him. Great prospect for late round
- 53:23who could be very, very good. But if he's not, then you're not
- 53:26spending a lot of if he's a practice, he's not athletic
- 53:30enough to be a special tamer. So you're either put him in the
- 53:33practice squad and he's living there his whole life, which
- 53:37would be fine, not ideal obviously, or he's learning how
- 53:42to pass block and he's coming in and he's or she's learning how
- 53:45to run block, he's coming in and he's he's a premier guy in the
- 53:48next few years. I'm very curious how this guy
- 53:51did against Ruben Bayne in practice because his arms are so
- 53:55long. They're like 6 inches longer
- 53:58than Ruben Bayne's arms. Yeah.
- 53:59So that had to be an incredible advantage against Ruben Bayne.
- 54:03I mean, I'm just, I'm just curious how he did in practice.
- 54:06I don't think we'll ever know that, but I would be curious to
- 54:10see these two guys go up against each other just because I feel
- 54:13like it's almost like Marquel Bell is an adult and Reuben
- 54:16Bayne is a small child. And Marquel Bell would just
- 54:19stick his arm out and just put his hand on Reuben Bayne's head
- 54:23and Reuben Bayne just couldn't do anything.
- 54:25And he, because he's just extending his arm and they're
- 54:27six inches longer than Reuben Bayne's.
- 54:29And so Reuben Bayne just can't do anything.
- 54:32But maybe that's not the case. I don't know.
- 54:34I'm just curious how they did against each other in practice.
- 54:37One additional thing here, I think this is probably the most
- 54:39the most key thing is coming out of high school.
- 54:42Mark Hillbill, 0 star prospect. He he has not grown that much
- 54:47height since high school. I think he was 6 foot 7 coming
- 54:50out of high school. He got JUCO offers, went in,
- 54:53played two years in junior college.
- 54:55When he was leaving junior college, he was a four-star
- 54:58junior college prospect. So he took his, his I'm just
- 55:02going to make a name for myself attitude and did that thing.
- 55:06And and so he went through the through the trenches in junior
- 55:09college, got picked up, went through the trenches in Miami.
- 55:12He he served his time, he grew, he learned and every single step
- 55:17along the way, he has gotten progressively better every
- 55:20single year. And you and you see it through
- 55:22his progression. And so I don't think he's going
- 55:24to have an issue coming in and learning and growing his game
- 55:28even further, which again, is exactly what you're looking for
- 55:30with these late round guys. All right, so we'll finish up
- 55:33with this player and this is also a non first round guy that
- 55:37I would like the Bucks to draft. So a player that I've had my eye
- 55:40on for a long time is Illinois Edge Gabe Akis.
- 55:44And it's no secret that the Bucks need a pass rush, and I
- 55:48feel like Gabe Actis is going to be a monster in the league.
- 55:51He's a former high school state wrestling champ in Florida and
- 55:54his wrestling background shows up when you watch him on tape.
- 55:57He uses his strength and his physicality combined with a high
- 56:00motor to just bully his way into the pocket.
- 56:03He's also got some really impressive pass rush moves.
- 56:06He's got a violent chop move that gets blocker's hands off of
- 56:09him and he's got a really good RIP move where his arm gets
- 56:13under the offensive lineman's arm and just completely
- 56:15neutralizes their ability to use that arm to block him.
- 56:19I think he was incredibly productive at Illinois,
- 56:22recording 27 sacks in 50 games with 19 of those sacks coming
- 56:26over the last two seasons in 25 games.
- 56:29Gay Backus has all the tools needed to be a star edge rusher
- 56:32at the NFL level and I think he is going to be.
- 56:35So I think that the Bucks drafting him, I think it's a
- 56:38perfect fit for the Bucks. He's from Florida, just keep him
- 56:41in Florida and I think this guy would be an absolute monster for
- 56:45the Buccaneers or any team that drafts him.
- 56:47Honestly, I think Gay back is is going to be a great player in
- 56:51the NFL. Were you like him drafted?
- 56:52What round? Second round, it would be second
- 56:55round. I don't think he's good enough
- 56:57to go in the first round, but I definitely think he's going to
- 56:59go in the second round and so I think he's going to right in
- 57:02that perfect range for where the Buccaneers draft in the second
- 57:05round for them to be able to get him.
- 57:06I like that wrestling background, just like core
- 57:09understanding of how to get leverage, get around people.
- 57:13Just imagine if he was wrestling.
- 57:15Yeah, just imagine if he was wrestling in high school at 266
- 57:18three. Just so used to all these
- 57:20wrestlers being like 571 to 1125, and they're really strong
- 57:27against those other guys and they're still really strong in
- 57:30general. But when you get up to this big
- 57:32weight, it's like, dude, Yikes. Gavin, do you have anything else
- 57:36to add? I haven't looked too deep into
- 57:38the Buccaneers, but we did play them.
- 57:40And that game Sam Arnold had all the time he wanted, you know, it
- 57:44was deep ball after deep ball shoot out of a game.
- 57:46And so I definitely think, you know, adding, adding the edge
- 57:49get around, get to the quarterback fast, definitely
- 57:52that'll, you know, bring down the scores of the game and give
- 57:55that elite offense, you know, the separation it needs from the
- 57:58defense. Because I feel like the
- 57:59Buccaneers are toned down version of the Bengals where
- 58:03they have that elite offense but the subpar defense.
- 58:07So I think, yeah, adding the adding the edge to the Bucks
- 58:10defense will definitely give the offense to separation to go out
- 58:14and win more games. Honestly, if the Bucks just
- 58:17drafted nothing but just edge rushers, I would not hate that.
- 58:22I would not be opposed to that at all because their pass rush
- 58:24was so incredibly bad last year. There was a reason that they
- 58:29were as bad as they were record wise, because they just could
- 58:32not. There was one guy who could rush
- 58:34the. Passer and that was it.
- 58:36One guy so I'm not opposed to them drafting just edge rusher
- 58:40in every single round of the draft except for Bryce becher.
- 58:43They got to get Bryce becher. So all right well I don't have
- 58:45anything else to add do you guys have anything else you want to
- 58:47add before we close out the show?
- 58:49Nope. All right cool.
- 58:50Well then that's all we have time for on today's episode.
- 58:53Gavin, thank you for joining us we appreciated you coming on and
- 58:57we're glad that you finally will actually be making appearance on
- 59:00the show next week we are going to talk about some of the free
- 59:03agent moves that are made around the league.
- 59:05Maybe talk about some early winners and losers from free
- 59:08agency. And then I'm hoping we have
- 59:09enough time to get in like two or three more scouting reports
- 59:13for you guys from ESPN's top 50 big board and continue to add to
- 59:16ours. And so that's all we have time
- 59:18for, guys. But as always, don't forget to
- 59:20keep your balls played with. We'll see you next time.
- 59:23Bye now y'all. Also, Mark Davis and Sarah Kyle
- 59:25still sucks.
