  Speaker 4: the life of an individual, in the life of a

  Speaker 4: people in a territory, if and when we understand the

  Speaker 4: principles that ignite and keep the move of God. And

  Speaker 4: so I want to talk for a few minutes, and

  Speaker 4: I'm hoping that this would be a great con contribution

  Speaker 4: to someone's spiritual life.

  Speaker 2: In Jesus' name, we pray very quickly. What is an awakening?
• 5:08
  Speaker 4: You know, we talk a lot about the moves of God, revivals,
• 5:12
  Speaker 4: you know, renewals and awakenings. I define awakenings as a
• 5:18
  Speaker 4: moment of restored or heightened God consciousness. A moment of
• 5:26
  Speaker 4: restored or heightened God consciousness, meaning that this is a
• 5:32
  Speaker 4: moment where God is able to restore God consciousness or
• 5:36
  Speaker 4: heighten God consciousness. It is a moment of passion for
• 5:46
  Speaker 4: God with a renewed determination to love Him, to know him,
• 5:53
  Speaker 4: to live for him.
• 5:54
  Speaker 2: I'm defining an awakening.

  Speaker 4: It is a moment that is characterized by passion for
• 6:00
  Speaker 4: God with a renewed determination to know him, to love him,
• 6:07
  Speaker 4: and to leave for him. Let's look at Second Chronicles

  Speaker 4: fifteen from verse twelve. Second Chronicles fifteen from verse twelve.

  Speaker 4: and verse fourteen. He now says, wherefore he saith a

  Speaker 4: So he's talking to a people who is challenging them

  Speaker 4: towards their spiritual vibrancy, and he uses an expression of sleep.

  Speaker 2: And I want us to talk a bit about that.

  Speaker 4: He says, Awake, now that sleepst you who are asleep,
• 7:55
  Speaker 4: the Bible.

  Speaker 2: Says, and rise from the dead, and Christ will give

  Speaker 2: you life.

  Speaker 4: In Matthew chapter thirteen, when you read from verse twenty

  Speaker 4: four twenty five, Jesus was given a parable as his

  Speaker 4: custom was. He taught in parables, and the Bible says,

  Speaker 2: Put he forth onto.

  Speaker 4: Them, saying, the kingdom of Heaven is likened onto a

  Speaker 4: man which sowed good seed in his field.

  Speaker 4: While men slept, someone took advantage of that state of sleep,

  Speaker 4: took advantage of that state of slumber.

  Speaker 2: And you know the remaining part of the story.

  Speaker 4: Sleep in the Bible generally has been used both negatively
• 8:48
  Speaker 4: and positively. For instance, when the Bible talks about God

  Speaker 4: giving his beloved sleep, that is in a positive sense,
• 8:56
  Speaker 4: but generally speaking, when we talk about sleep, and I'm
• 8:59
  Speaker 4: using that to connect with the subject of awakening. So
• 9:02
  Speaker 4: the Bible says, if a man is not awakened spiritually,
• 9:06
  Speaker 4: the opposite of that is that he's in a state
• 9:08
  Speaker 4: of sleep away together. And there's been three expressions of
• 9:13
  Speaker 4: sleep according to scripture.
• 9:14
  Speaker 2: I'll just run it quickly. Number one.

  Speaker 4: When the Bible talks about sleep, it is the natural
• 9:21
  Speaker 4: expression of it, as we know, rest from exhaustion, rest
• 9:26
  Speaker 4: from tiredness after a day's work, and so on and
• 9:30
  Speaker 4: so forth. You find that, for instance, in Some for
• 9:34
  Speaker 4: and verse eight, Some for and verse eight, an example
• 9:38
  Speaker 4: of sleep as we know. Some chapter four and verse eight,
• 9:42
  Speaker 4: it says, I will both lay me down in peace
• 9:45
  Speaker 4: and sleep for down Lord only makes me to dwell

  Speaker 4: in safety. So this definition of sleep talks about rest,

  Speaker 4: the rest that brings refreshing.

  Speaker 4: refreshing nor is it talking about that cessation of life

  Speaker 4: individual from a spiritual standpoint can be in a state

  Speaker 4: of sleep.

  Speaker 2: And if you study sleep.

  Speaker 4: I'm not a medical doctor, but then I not this

  Speaker 4: much about sleep that they are two characteristic futures that
• 11:28
  Speaker 4: really show that a person is asleep. Number One, you

  Speaker 4: lose consciousness of your immediate environment. Am I right on that?

  Speaker 4: can sleep standing, I mean literally.

  Speaker 4: There are those who even sleep with their eyes open,

  Speaker 4: but they are asleep, and while you are wasting your

  Speaker 4: time talking to them, they're not there at all. Some

  Speaker 4: can just lean gently and you think they're thinking, but
• 11:56
  Speaker 4: they're gone. So the position doesn't really matter. But one

  Speaker 4: thing that characterizes sleep is that you lose consciousness of
• 12:05
  Speaker 4: your immediate environment.

  Speaker 2: Number two, you lose sensitivity.

  Speaker 4: It will take an extra effort to wake someone or

  Speaker 4: pass a message across to someone who is asleep.

  Speaker 2: Am I right on that? Now you're all awake.

  Speaker 4: If I say, for instance, motion my hand to rise,

  Speaker 4: you see, with minimal effort you understand what I'm saying.

  Speaker 2: But if you are sleep, I may have to go

  Speaker 4: And my goodness, there are people who you have to

  Speaker 4: taught me. I will show you five signs of a

  Speaker 4: life that is declining spiritually. And as you listen, I

  Speaker 4: at work in your life or applicable to you, then

  Speaker 4: until your fire is reignited. Who is learning so far?

  Speaker 4: I'm going to give you five signs of spiritual decline.
