- 0:26in one of the first to say a big thank you, thanks for coming
- 0:30to the Australia. I mean thanks for having us again. I mean for
- 0:33us, Australia is always special because we we It's like I said, it's
- 0:37on the other side of the world. And for a man like us,
- 0:42I mean we've we've been coming to us sort of since ninety real I think,
- 0:47and it's always it's always a blast. We always have a fucking amazing
- 0:51time and and yeah, the fans are amazing and we we were really looking
- 0:57forward to to do this tour. And not just you guys coming as well,
- 1:02but you're also big and with you the mighty in flames like that,
- 1:07what shows going to show with It's like it's just just two of the best
- 1:10in one hit. We have this, we have this tour like this,
- 1:17this, this, this, this, we we have this clash of the
- 1:21Titans with the k and Uh. We've met with Tour and and Testament in
- 1:30South America and North America in the in the past, and we're thinking about
- 1:34doing an addition for for Australia, and so we asked them Flames because they're
- 1:42friends of ours, and they were like, yeah, let's do this,
- 1:45and yeah, it's gonna be like two full headlining shows and it's like a
- 1:49co headlining double headlining bill, and both bands are going to play one hundred
- 1:56percent of headlining shows and it's gonna be it's gonna be good. It's going
- 2:00to be good like double treatment, you know, you get the full double
- 2:02treat awesome. I won't want to say how headlining show? Does that mean
- 2:07that when night you'll play last and then the next night in times will play
- 2:09last ers or again that time. Yeah, yeah, yeah, it's a
- 2:14flip flop. Yeah, some nights we're going to play We're going to close
- 2:17the show and sometimes in Flames going to close the show. But it's like
- 2:21I said, it's two full sets, you know, full full headlining sets.
- 2:27And this is Creative's first ALM in Australia since two thousand and seventeen,
- 2:30So what's changed with the band in those six years? We had the pandemic?
- 2:36You know, there was this that that kept us from coming back,
- 2:42and that kept us from releasing our album the year earlier, even though we
- 2:45had it written in two thousand and twenty, it was already written and we
- 2:53waited till twenty twenty two to release the album. So, yeah, was
- 3:00basically the pandemic that held us back from coming to Australia earlier and since nobody
- 3:05was able to tour and mm hmm, finally this time is over. This
- 3:10horrible pandemic is in the past, and uh we are we We we were
- 3:16able to come back and we're able to to come back to Australia as well.
- 3:22Yeah, the big thing is by what can fans expect from your set
- 3:25when you come over? What do you got? What you got in store
- 3:28for us? Uh, we're gonna it's gonna be a nice mix between between
- 3:35the two thousands material of Creator and ancient stuff from the eighties, you know,
- 3:42So we have a nice setlist. We're gonna play some of our new
- 3:46album, and I think it's it's gonna be something for everybody. And of
- 3:53course we'll bring some some some production and it's gonna be it's going to be
- 4:00a good show. I think people will definitely be able to to to yeah,
- 4:11to enjoy a great nine of metal. I going back to the beginning,
- 4:16mate, like, you found a creator in Germany back in nineteen eighty
- 4:19two, So what was the musical climate like back then they gave birth to
- 4:24the band and where did you fit in initially? Yeah, I mean nineteen
- 4:28eighty two is a little early. We had a band before our creator.
- 4:33My official like I always go like, the band formed in eighty five when
- 4:38we did our first album, but it was the climate was different, of
- 4:42course, because it was pre internet. It was of course we had a
- 4:46We were a part of this tape trading scene back in the eighties, which
- 4:51meant we were writing letters, like actual letters like on paper, send it
- 5:00to send it to people from all over the world and asked for that tapes
- 5:03there, you know, connecting with metal heads all over the globe. And
- 5:11that led us to recorded the first demo because we were asking, for example,
- 5:18people in the US for their tapes and they were like, oh,
- 5:24you have a band too, why don't you send us some of your music,
- 5:27And that led us to record the first Tormentor demo, which the band
- 5:31was called Tormento before, and then we were recording the second demo, and
- 5:38then we got a record deal and we signed a record deal in eighty or
- 5:43and released the first album in a five and changed the name from Tormento to
- 5:47Creator in eighty five. So that was for me, the birth of Creator.
- 5:53And the climate was it was you know, eighties, right, It
- 5:58was different. It was very adventurous. We were teenagers and everything was new,
- 6:03and of course it was totally different from nowadays, but it was still
- 6:09the same energy and that's still the same even though we're almost like forty years
- 6:14back in the in the game. It's still the same vibe and it's still
- 6:19the same energy that hasn't changed. The media has changed. I'm able to
- 6:24see you now and then then talk to you even though you're only in Australia
- 6:30and I'm in Germany. But back then, we we would overcome these these
- 6:36these obstacles as well by writing letters and and and and waiting for a response
- 6:43for two weeks or something. You know when we were gone in with some
- 6:46some bands. We were even in touch back in the day with an Australian
- 6:49band called Slaughter. I don't know even if you remember, Yeah, they're
- 6:55they're not the Slaughter, not the Lamb Slaughter, but there was a Slaughter,
- 7:00very heavy slaughter from Australia. Oh, I've always your early vision and
- 7:04early dolls for creator and out they change the vision of Yeah. I mean,
- 7:12of course we progressed as musicians. We I think the attitude is still
- 7:16the same. We love to play extreme metal, we love to play to
- 7:20go to explore new music. Every time we release an album, it has
- 7:27to we it's it's it's it's important for us that we do something that we
- 7:31haven't done before, and that we that we push ourselves and and and and
- 7:38and put in new elements and then try new things every time we release an
- 7:43album. But the attitude is still the same. We want to be I
- 7:47think over the years we establish own style and uh and we wanna we wanna
- 7:54progress as musicians and we want to come up with new stuff, exciting stuff.
- 7:58We want to keep our music exciting. That's why we take sometimes take
- 8:03five years between albums, sometimes three four, but we never just put out
- 8:07something for the sake of it, you know, along those lines like how
- 8:11do you think your sound has changed and grown from your debut album Endless Pain
- 8:16in nineteen eighty five to the most recent Haydo Bradley Is in twenty twenty two.
- 8:20Mm hmm. Like I said, we progress as musicians, we were
- 8:26more confident, we're more experienced obviously, but sound wise, the technology is
- 8:37so different nowadays. Even though on Hater Bottles we went to an old school
- 8:43studio like called the Hansa Studio, a studio where they Boie worked in the
- 8:48eighties. You Tube did some albums there. Depeche Mode work there. So
- 8:54we keep it old school sometimes in some to some extent in order to keep
- 9:03like sound wise sonically, just keep the the kind of like some of the
- 9:11elements from from the early days. But I would lie to you. I
- 9:16mean, if I would say we are not using computers now. Of course
- 9:20everybody's using computers nowadays, we're not. We're not blocking out this new technolo
- 9:28technology and the possibilities of nowadays recording techniques and uh, and so it's it's
- 9:35a nice mix. It's a nice mix. And then and but I think
- 9:39as long as the attitude is the same and like that, that's I think
- 9:43that's referring to real questions, Like we still have the same attitude, the
- 9:48same energy we were put into the music, and it's we we will work
- 9:54very hard on on on keeping it fresh and exciting. Greater have been around
- 10:01for roughly four decades in the music world, right, So what do you
- 10:05consider the band's contribution. I guess to heavy metal music over the last forty
- 10:09years. Hopefully we made some people happy, hopefully wrote some songs that people
- 10:15enjoy and hopefully though that's how we be remembered. That's what we're being remembered
- 10:20for once we leave the this this the small plane. But I think it's
- 10:31something it's a question you should ask the fans. I think we we we
- 10:33give a best and we we try to make we try to like like like
- 10:43be a band that is unique and has their own vision and their own style
- 10:50and our own like version of of of extreme metal. I guess that's that's
- 10:56that's how I would put it. But what we contributed to to the metal
- 11:05world, you should ask our fans. They can tell you a lot more
- 11:09precisely. No, I don't ask this question that many people might, but
- 11:13you're one of the few people in the world is in a position to answer
- 11:16it. So, what do you consider to be the top three commandments of
- 11:20Eavy Metal? The top three commandments just be real, yeah, give one
- 11:30hundred and fifty and be and dedicate your life to it as much as possible,
- 11:41you know, and just just and be prepared for like meeting a lot
- 11:50of people from all over the world, like a huge you're part of a
- 11:54huge community and it's a it's it's magic, and so just be aware that
- 12:01that this, don't take it for granted, and once you're in it,
- 12:05just be be real, we be honest. Yeah,
