- 0:00When a man dabbles in the occult, he unknowingly unleashes
- 0:05a malevolent darkness he can't control.
- 0:10Night after night, he is tormented by the tentacles of
- 0:15terror. Unable to keep.
- 0:17Himself or his family safe, he consults the help of a white
- 0:22witch as he struggles to break the chains that bind him.
- 0:28Will he be freed or continue to be besieged by the hands of
- 0:35hell? This is the untold story of the
- 0:39demonic haunting of the house on Church St. in Michigan, also
- 0:46known as the Randy Irvin Case. It's been a while since I've
- 0:51delved into a haunting as terrifying as this one, so with
- 0:55due caution, I wouldn't recommend watching this at night
- 1:00or alone. Standish, Michigan, originally
- 1:17named Granton, is a rural town near Lake Huron.
- 1:22Long before the hustle and bustle of the modern world,
- 1:26Native Americans used to call its land home, living, hunting,
- 1:32and dying upon its grounds. Their descendants and the modern
- 1:37day, like their ancestors, still very much believe in the power
- 1:42of the spiritual realm. And with their profound sense of
- 1:46respect for it also comes a deep respect of the dead, and a
- 1:52belief further that disturbing their resting place can bring
- 1:57forth horrible things. Perhaps their beliefs are true.
- 2:04Our story begins in 1974 in Standish.
- 2:09A then 22 year old man named Randy Irvin has lived in the
- 2:14area his entire life. After graduating high school, he
- 2:19decided that college wasn't the right path for him.
- 2:23In fact, he didn't know what that path was.
- 2:27As many young people often do, Randy was soul searching,
- 2:33surfing couches, working random jobs for a few bucks in his
- 2:37pocket, and not really pursuing a career, but rather trying to
- 2:44pursue just who he was and who he wanted to be.
- 2:49That would change, however, when one day Randy landed a job at
- 2:53the United States Postal Service with a good income.
- 2:58Instead of sleeping at friends homes, Randy sought a home of
- 3:03his own. Lucky for him, his father Roy
- 3:08bought properties and fixed them up.
- 3:11Neither sold or rented them. He had recently acquired an old
- 3:17fixer upper not too far from where Randy was working, and if
- 3:22he assists him with the renovations, he'll allow him to
- 3:25live there. Randy agrees and soon heads to
- 3:29work for his dad. For weeks, Randy works mornings
- 3:34and right after work heads to the house to work well into the
- 3:38night alongside his father. One chilly afternoon, as father
- 3:44and son are digging up the basement floor, they would
- 3:47uncover something very unexpected.
- 3:51As one of their shovels dug into the earth, it hits something
- 3:55solid, pulling it back and shoving the dirt off to the
- 3:59side, the two are astonished by what they see.
- 4:04They pull forth from the soil what appears to be a human femur
- 4:09bone. Struck by this unnerving
- 4:12discovery, and as if Pandora's box had been opened, the
- 4:16questions on to how and why someone would be buried
- 4:20underneath their home began to be speculated on at a furious
- 4:25pace. The home itself was over 100
- 4:29years old. Was it a deliberate death, an
- 4:33accident, or something else? The story of what took place was
- 4:39perhaps lost in the sands of time.
- 4:43However, more bones would be discovered by the pair
- 4:46throughout the night. The following morning, Randy's
- 4:50father contacts a local physician to come and inspect
- 4:54the bones to make sure that they're human and to get advice
- 4:59as to what to do next. When the physician arrives, he
- 5:03examines the remains for several minutes and concludes that they
- 5:08certainly are human. But judging on their aged
- 5:12appearance and having had similar experiences in the past,
- 5:17he explains to the men that they probably stumbled across an old
- 5:21Indian burial ground, something that was extremely common and
- 5:26standish. His advice was to respect the
- 5:30dead, rebury the bones and be done with it.
- 5:35So the two would do just that. And although neither of them
- 5:39were happy that someone was buried underneath the home, they
- 5:43did what they could to be as respectful as possible.
- 5:47Feeling good about the reburial, they would continue fixing up
- 5:51the house and several weeks later, Randy would move in.
- 5:57This newfound sense of freedom was coupled with something
- 6:00strange and new. Something about the discovery
- 6:04seems to have a grip on Randy. It disturbed but also intrigued
- 6:10him. He develops a fascination with
- 6:13Indian burial grounds and their mysterious nature.
- 6:17Hungry for more knowledge on his lunch break at work one day,
- 6:22Randy decides to stop into a bookstore to see just what he
- 6:26can find on the subject. As he perused the Isle of Books,
- 6:31one in particular seemed to call out to him.
- 6:35It was a leather bound book with golden lettering its title Read
- 6:42Witchcraft and Practice and Study.
- 6:47Drawn to it, he opens the book to reveal its contents, and the
- 6:52first page he reads says that spirits can manifest from
- 6:57consecrated burial grounds. Reading further, he comes across
- 7:03the list of spirits that the book said could be communicated
- 7:07with the most that these powerful entities had never been
- 7:12human, but rather existed in a state between heaven and hell.
- 7:21And if one were to conjure these spirits, each one could assist
- 7:25in certain ways. One of those ways was the
- 7:29discovery of buried riches. Upon reading this sentence,
- 7:35Randy's eyes widened. In the Irvin family, it was
- 7:39discussed that many moons ago their relatives had buried some
- 7:44valuable goods deep within the earth, but wear remained a
- 7:49mystery. Greatly intrigued in what this
- 7:53book had to offer, Randy would purchase it from the store and
- 7:57return to work to finish his shift.
- 8:02In the words of Randy himself, I kept this purchase very secret.
- 8:08I didn't tell my friends, family, or anybody.
- 8:12I wanted to experiment on my own without anyone else coming in
- 8:17and telling me not to do it or that it was dumb.
- 8:21This was my personal decision to venture, and I wasn't going to
- 8:25be disturbed while doing that. Later that day, Randy would
- 8:30return home with his new book. Sitting on his couch and placing
- 8:35it on his coffee table, he unfurled its pages and began to
- 8:41read. The book laid out various
- 8:44instructions for The Conjuring of spirits.
- 8:48Prerequisites, if you will. He had to control his
- 8:51environment. This meant no music, no light,
- 8:57and total concentration when performing the ritual.
- 9:02After ensuring that these prerequisites were men, he
- 9:05places a chair in his living room, and with dusk now settling
- 9:10on the horizon, his windows open to a light breeze.
- 9:15Randy sits mostly in darkness, shrouded in the shadows.
- 9:20He begins to read out loud, following the books instructions
- 9:25to conjure 4 spirits, entities who will supposedly assist him
- 9:32with specific tasks. If successful, he would recite
- 9:36the following, calling forth each creature by its name.
- 9:42I call the. Four to come to me, Anastosia
- 9:47Lavariki, Horizonia Simasani, in this place that I dwell, to
- 9:58bring you here with this spell, what is dark to be filled with
- 10:03light, Bring these spirits into sight.
- 10:09He chanced the spell multiple times and suddenly a strong gust
- 10:15of cold wind blows through his living room windows.
- 10:19This knocks over a shelf and a lamp.
- 10:23The odd thing is, there is no strong wind on the forecast for
- 10:28the day. Startled but not fully
- 10:31convinced, he closes both of them and sits back down to
- 10:36speculate. In his own.
- 10:38Words. They were supposed to show up
- 10:41immediately. I expected perhaps some voices,
- 10:46maybe riding on the wall. I waited and waited and thought
- 10:51maybe I did something wrong. So I decided to try again
- 10:55another time. I closed the book and got ready
- 10:59for bed. Randy would lay down for the
- 11:02night and begin to sleep, thinking that no one had
- 11:06answered his calls. However, the very next night,
- 11:12something indeed did. As he again lays in his bed
- 11:16sleeping, he is suddenly flung back into reality through the
- 11:22sound of glass breaking coming from his living room.
- 11:26Worried that someone had broken into his home, he grabs a
- 11:30baseball bat and apprehensively makes his way towards the room.
- 11:35Swallowing his fear, he rushes towards the sound.
- 11:39When he gets close enough, he would come face to face with
- 11:44nothing, Confused and on high alert Now, he glances around the
- 11:50room but sees no intruder. Then he hears multiple footsteps
- 11:56behind him. Rushing towards those.
- 12:00He's once again bewildered. There's no one there after a
- 12:06sweep of the entire home. And with this, the discovery
- 12:10that all of its doors and windows had seemingly been
- 12:14untouched. He spent some time pondering
- 12:18just what exactly had happened, but finally decides to lay back
- 12:23down to salvage what little sleep is left.
- 12:28The following morning, he's thrust awake yet again, but this
- 12:33time it's by the ringing of the telephone.
- 12:37It's his mother, Belva. She's calling from Mississippi.
- 12:42She moved there after her and Randy's father got a divorce
- 12:46some years ago. The reason for her call is all
- 12:49the more interesting. She had a hunch, a feeling, that
- 12:54something was. Deeply wrong, and she felt
- 12:57compelled to move back as soon as possible.
- 13:02In the words of Randy, she felt like something was out of sorts
- 13:07that she needed to come back immediately.
- 13:10Was it a? Clairvoyant type of thing, she
- 13:13said. Something has happened.
- 13:15I don't know what it is, but I'm gonna find out.
- 13:19Randy and Belva had always been very close.
- 13:23The two have. Also had a knack for sensing
- 13:25each other's emotions. Tammy Irvin, Randy's younger
- 13:30sister who was 11 years old at that time, couldn't hear the
- 13:34details, but she too sensed something was wrong with her
- 13:37brother. The phone call would end shortly
- 13:40after, and a month later, Belva and Tammy would arrive at
- 13:45Randy's doorstep, finally returning to Michigan, then
- 13:50moving in with Randy. Tammy would later describe her
- 13:54brother when she arrived. He looked pale and sick.
- 13:58He had lost a lot of weight and didn't look good at all.
- 14:03He looked tired, shrugging things off as a lack of sleep.
- 14:08Randy would begin to show his sister around the house.
- 14:11His mother was invited as well, but she had a terrible feeling
- 14:16in the pit of her stomach. Something about the home seemed
- 14:20off. As she examines the front room,
- 14:23just past the front door, she is suddenly enveloped in an icy
- 14:28cold embrace, one that causes her to physically chatter her
- 14:33teeth. She is only shaken out of her
- 14:36experience by the call of Randy for her to join them in the tour
- 14:42this afternoon would continue rather uneventfully.
- 14:47That was until the trio laid down their heads for sleep that
- 14:51night. As a glowing white moon hung
- 14:54above them, they drifted off to dreamland.
- 14:58That was until they all were abruptly woken up by the blaring
- 15:03sound of an organ playing some kind of haunting hymn.
- 15:07Randy panicked and sitting up out of his bed, he suddenly sees
- 15:12the door Creek open. It's his mom.
- 15:15She was asking what the hell was happening.
- 15:18She asked him to please turn his radio off, but to her
- 15:22bewilderment, Randy tells her he doesn't have a radio in this
- 15:27room. The two then frantically begin
- 15:30searching around the room, heading towards the origin of
- 15:33the sound, the right hand corner, perhaps thinking a
- 15:37friend had loved a radio or something of the sort.
- 15:42They would find no such radio and the organ.
- 15:45Music would cease. Upon asking just what it could
- 15:50have been by Randy, Velva attributes the music to her late
- 15:54mother, who had quite the affinity for playing the organ.
- 15:59But Randy would also question back, How could it be Grandma
- 16:04Mom? She's dead.
- 16:07Belva still believes the sign to be something positive, thinking
- 16:11it was her mother's way of letting them know that she was
- 16:14still there and watching over them all.
- 16:18She then would lay back down for the night, given the hour, and
- 16:22Randy, left alone once again to his thoughts, sits in fear.
- 16:28He's worried that the bizarre song had something to do with
- 16:31the spirits he invoked that night after night.
- 16:35His sleep has become less and less attainable, and he can't
- 16:40bring himself to tell his mom that he's been dabbling in the
- 16:44occult. He tries to brush things off and
- 16:48lays his head back down on his pillow.
- 16:51He slowly drifts back to sleep. However, he's again woken up by
- 16:57something that he can't explain, something that grips him in pure
- 17:03terror. A deep.
- 17:06Gutter will growl as if someone or something is stalking him.
- 17:13Feeling the presence of whatever this was, he would put his hand
- 17:17out in its general direction only to feel an icy wind as if
- 17:23he had touched death itself. Sweating profusely yet able to
- 17:28see his breath, Randy knows that this is anything but normal.
- 17:34He again hears the unholy growling and this time it seems
- 17:40to inch closer to him. Feeling the weight as something
- 17:44steps onto his bed and as his mattress begins to indent as
- 17:49this invisible creature moves towards him, Randy is shaking.
- 17:56He closes his eyes as the growl seems to be inches from his
- 18:00face. He feels a cold.
- 18:03Breath on his cheek, and right when he thinks that it's the end
- 18:08of his earthly existence, it vanishes.
- 18:13This leaves Randy a sweaty and emotional mess.
- 18:17Needless to say, he cannot sleep this night.
- 18:22The following morning, as Belva cooks breakfast for everyone, a
- 18:27disgruntled and exhausted Randy stumbles into the kitchen.
- 18:32He again has faced with internal thoughts of who he can tell, who
- 18:38would be willing to listen. And he doesn't want to frighten
- 18:42his family either, in his own words.
- 18:47I knew I had dabbled with something dark, that I had
- 18:51unleashed something evil. But any harm, any torment it
- 18:55could inflict, only I wanted to endure, because it was my.
- 19:01Fault. And I was willing to see this
- 19:04through to the end. And although not much occurs
- 19:07during the day, when the sun goes down and the moon rises,
- 19:13whatever entities seem to awaken to haunt him.
- 19:18Laying his head down to sleep petrified every night, he is
- 19:23often woken up by ethereal growls, deep disgusting snarls
- 19:30the likes of which one is seldomly heard before.
- 19:34This particular night, whatever this creature was knocked over
- 19:39his shelf and then pulled the sheets from his bed and off of
- 19:44Randy and then walked onto his bed and began grabbing him.
- 19:51The sensation similar to frozen claws pulling and tugging at his
- 19:58very soul in his words. The claws or teeth never broke
- 20:04my skin, but I could feel how sharp they were.
- 20:09I was truly fearful. He screams, being reduced to
- 20:14tears. The sound of her son screams
- 20:17draw Velvet to his room, rushing in a panic to quickly see just
- 20:22what had happened. She finds Randy pacing and
- 20:27looking over his shoulders shaking like a leaf.
- 20:31She asked him what is wrong, to which he would reply.
- 20:36Every night it's something. Every night I hear the music or
- 20:41the footsteps. I hear growling at the foot of
- 20:44my bed and something just tried to rip me apart.
- 20:49Almost as soon as the words left his lips, Randy and Belva both
- 20:54would hear a growl originate from behind his TV on his
- 20:59dresser. The temperature in the room
- 21:03seemed to drop significantly. Believing whatever it was to be
- 21:08evil, Belva grabs her Bible and begins to recite verses.
- 21:15Meanwhile, Tammy in her room can only hear the growling in her
- 21:20mother reciting the passages. She is frightened but not aware
- 21:26of the full details of what was happening.
- 21:30It takes several minutes, but the repeated verses seem to work
- 21:35because the violent growls slowly subside into silence.
- 21:41Randy prays that this will be the end of his horrible
- 21:44affliction, but time will tell that it's far from it.
- 21:50His days begin to be affected by his lack of sleep.
- 21:54He's emotionally as well as physically exhausted.
- 21:58He begins making mistakes at his job, but this is far from his
- 22:03main worry. He tries to.
- 22:06Regain a sense of normalcy by spending time with his sister,
- 22:11often watching TV with her in the living room.
- 22:14But all too often he finds his mind trailing off until the
- 22:20inevitable mysterious sounds back in him back to reality.
- 22:25This particular day. He heard banging coming from a
- 22:29storage room in the hallway. Leaving Tammy to watch TV, he
- 22:35goes to investigate. The bangs turn into scratches as
- 22:40Randy approaches the room. The room in question is being
- 22:45used as storage, mostly for Randy's father keeping antiques.
- 22:50That he had recently acquired as Randy apprehensively steps
- 22:55towards the door. And his hand grips the knob, He
- 22:59still hears commotion coming from behind it.
- 23:03However, the door is locked. Also hearing the commotion,
- 23:10Velva joins him in the hallway, curious as to just what it could
- 23:14be. Continuing to hear motion from
- 23:17behind the door, she too tries the knob and then presses her
- 23:22ear to the door to try and discern just what could be
- 23:25making the noise. As she listens, she is suddenly
- 23:31gripped by unseen hands, her body pulled against the door,
- 23:38lifting her off of her feet and towards the ceiling, Choking
- 23:45her. Randy desperately tries to free
- 23:47his mother from the invisible devil's grip.
- 23:51Tammy, hearing the commotion, rushes into the hallway as well
- 23:56to find her mother struggling to breathe and her feet dangling
- 24:01mid air. Not knowing what else to do,
- 24:06Randy runs as fast as he can to obtain his mother's Bible.
- 24:11He returns and places it against her.
- 24:15This again seems to break the demonic chains that grip her.
- 24:19Falling back to the ground, she begins sobbing with Tammy as
- 24:25Randy stares, visibly shaken by what he had just witnessed in
- 24:31his own words. This thing had her in a
- 24:34chokehold and was lifting her off of the ground.
- 24:38I believe it was trying to choke the life out of her.
- 24:42This situation in particular is what truly convinced me deep
- 24:46down that these things were evil.
- 24:50That they were out to get us. And it wasn't just me now that
- 24:54was experiencing the dormant as a result of what had happened,
- 25:00Randy, Belva and Tammy rush out of the house and into Randy's
- 25:05truck. They're unsure of where they
- 25:09will go, but that seemed irrelevant.
- 25:13They knew for certain that they had to get out of that house.
- 25:18Starting the vehicle and thrusting the gas pedal to the
- 25:21floor, the trio speeds away. The results of this night of
- 25:27horror would lead the three of them to move.
- 25:31They would relocate in the next week to another home, this 1A
- 25:37newer house located on the opposite side of town.
- 25:42Although a much smaller house, it's the only thing that they
- 25:46could find on such short notice. Once moved in, the guilt of what
- 25:52he had done was beginning to take its toll on Randy.
- 25:57He blamed himself for what was happening that not only he but
- 26:02now his family were also suffering.
- 26:06He finally decides to come clean.
- 26:10He confesses to his mom that he and his dad had found an old
- 26:15Indian burial site underneath the house that he had then
- 26:19purchased. The book on witchcraft summoned
- 26:22these spirits and didn't think it was real until things started
- 26:27happening. Belva is shocked and believed
- 26:31that her son had inadvertently thrust.
- 26:34Open a door. To the spiritual realm.
- 26:37But she chooses to forgive him, hoping that whatever these
- 26:43things were could no longer hurt them.
- 26:46Later that night, as they settled down for sleep in the
- 26:49new house, as Randy gets under the covers in hopes that his
- 26:55mother is right, that he can finally attain a peaceful
- 26:59night's sleep, he takes one final glance at his new room
- 27:04before closing his eyes. But his eyes would pop open when
- 27:10his door flung open by itself, screaming into the void.
- 27:16Why don't you just stop? Why don't you just leave us
- 27:20alone? He's only met with silence.
- 27:25His cries once again summoned Tammy and Belvet into his room.
- 27:29Upon sitting on his bed, they too begin to hear the ominous
- 27:33sounds once again. The scratching, knocking, and
- 27:39phantom footsteps. As before, Randy now knows that
- 27:43these entities don't want the house, they want him.
- 27:48Refusing to give in any longer, he begins to seek outside help
- 27:53for the first time. Although not a religious person
- 27:57and not a member of any church, he first meets with a local
- 28:01Lutheran minister. Stepping into his office within
- 28:05the church and having a seat at his desk, Randy begins to
- 28:10explain to him what has been taking place for the past
- 28:14several months. However, during his explanation,
- 28:19he's interrupted by the minister and told that witchcraft doesn't
- 28:24exist, that demons are simply a delusion.
- 28:30Randy explains that the entities have been experienced by others,
- 28:35that he's awake when they attack, and that they are indeed
- 28:39real. He is met by a diatribe of
- 28:43religious preaching, only to then be met with have you spoken
- 28:49to a therapist? Labergasted at this and he then
- 28:53leaves. He just can't believe the lack
- 28:56of assistance, continuing to further search for help.
- 29:01He didn't know who else to turn to, but he knew that he wanted
- 29:05his life back, that he wanted his family to finally be safe
- 29:11again. He gets to thinking, if
- 29:14witchcraft unleash these things, could it perhaps banish them?
- 29:19With this in mind, he stops by a local metaphysical shop to ask
- 29:25if anyone would listen to what was happening to him.
- 29:29It's there that he meets a man by the name of Mike Bossick
- 29:34who's interested in his situation.
- 29:37Mike, as he explains, is a White Witch, practitioner of Wicca, a
- 29:43modern Pagan religion. In his own words, a White Witch
- 29:49is someone who believes in good, believes in God, and believes in
- 29:54trying to help people. After listening to Randy explain
- 29:58what he had done and how it had affected him and his family,
- 30:03Mike wanted to help. So he offers to come over to the
- 30:07home later that day. To Randy, this seems like a
- 30:11long-awaited answer. To his desperate prayers.
- 30:16But will the ritual be a success?
- 30:19Later that evening, after filling in Belva on what he
- 30:23intended to have done, they receive a knock at their door.
- 30:28With a thunderstorm rolling in and a light rain starting, Mike
- 30:33meets them with a bag in hand. After stepping in out of the
- 30:37drizzle, he places his bag on the kitchen table, begins to
- 30:43unpack its belongings while donning a black cloak, begins to
- 30:49explain what he intends to do. He first must create a ring of
- 30:54protection around the home. Braving the rain again, he does
- 30:59this using salt, believed to be a purifying substance.
- 31:05He then chants a protective incantation three times as he.
- 31:10Circles the home. Before returning, it seems that
- 31:15with each chant and each lap that the storm is intensifying,
- 31:21as if something supernatural was attempting to stop him.
- 31:26This is Mike's first attempt at vanishing unwanted spirits from
- 31:29a person's life, he hopes. He will be.
- 31:32Successful as his intentions are to help this family, upon
- 31:38completing the circle and coming back indoors, he then, in the
- 31:43center of the house, forms yet another circle of salt, and
- 31:47within this circle, a pentagram. But unlike a satanic pentagram,
- 31:53it is not inverted and in fact has the opposite intent.
- 31:58He places candles at each one of the pinnacles and explains to
- 32:03Belva and Randy that the three of them must remain in the
- 32:07circle for the entirety of the ritual, otherwise their safety
- 32:12may be compromised. The storm outside seems to gain
- 32:16intensity as Mike chances banishing ritual.
- 32:21The candles at each one of the pentagrams points begins to
- 32:25flicker as shadows trace the walls around them.
- 32:30Mike then to finish the ritual after he extinguishes them.
- 32:35The energy in the house seemed to be lighter.
- 32:39This LED all three of them to smile, begin celebrating that
- 32:43Mike's magic had worked. That was until the lights went
- 32:48out, leaving only lightning to illuminate the room, and then
- 32:55the entire home began to shake. Unbeknownst to the three
- 33:01downstairs, Tammy had been asleep in her room, unaware of
- 33:06what was taking place. She is soon woken up by the
- 33:10shaking of the house and sees something outside of her window.
- 33:17Placing her glasses on her face and approaching her curtains,
- 33:21she pulls them back. She sees several branches
- 33:25scraping against her window as a result of the winds of the
- 33:29storm, their leaves being relentlessly pelted by the rain.
- 33:36Then, seemingly out of nowhere, with the flicker of a lightning
- 33:41flash, the most Aborn creature was staring back at her.
- 33:47And behind the glass, a horned abomination with glowing yellow
- 33:54eyes, decaying looking skin as black as the abyss, with gnarled
- 34:02yet sharp fangs, stared at her with malice and desire.
- 34:10The young girl panics and screams her cries for help,
- 34:16prompting Randy to rush upstairs.
- 34:19He picks her up out of the corner of the room, sees the
- 34:24outline of the horned monstrosity outside of the
- 34:27window. Frantically rushing back down
- 34:30the stairs with his sister, he sets her down next to his mother
- 34:35and confronts Mike. He didn't know at the time that
- 34:39this was Mike's first attempt at banishment, and it now seems
- 34:44that he only added. Fuel.
- 34:45To the fire, unable to offer another solution, Ike and leaves
- 34:52the home, never to return. Left alone to deal with the
- 34:59aftermath, Randy, Velva, and Tammy sleep together in the
- 35:04living room to watch each other and keep one another safe.
- 35:10The power would return hours after Mike's departure and
- 35:14Needless to say, Randy, again seemingly defeated, would not
- 35:20sleep much this night. Following the chaos of the
- 35:24ritual night, Randy began to fall into a deep depression.
- 35:30Unsure of who to reach out to, he feels as if he was on the
- 35:34brink of insanity and that he could cross that threshold any
- 35:39moment. Sitting on his lunch break at
- 35:42work one afternoon dealing with these heavy emotions, he appears
- 35:48visibly upset by his dilemma. He's then approached by his Co
- 35:53worker, Paula. She asked him what was going on
- 35:58and no longer caring about his perceived craziness, Randy
- 36:02begins to confide in her everything that had been taking
- 36:06place. Surprisingly, Paula doesn't
- 36:10judge him, but rather she says she knows someone who can help
- 36:15him. She directs him to a woman named
- 36:19Nora Reiner. Paula explains that Nora's a
- 36:23healer, that she had not only assisted her in the past, but is
- 36:28known for helping people who are being oppressed by evil spirits.
- 36:34Feeling as if he's got nothing to lose, he agrees to go and see
- 36:38her that day. He would arrive at the address
- 36:42he was given shortly after departing work, a business
- 36:47called Nora's Hair and Nails. Unsure if Nora could help him or
- 36:51not, but again feeling as if he had nothing to lose, Randy makes
- 36:56his way inside the salon. He then meets Nora for the first
- 37:00time. Her first impression of Randy is
- 37:04the following. When I saw Randy, he was in a
- 37:08terrible physical state. He was very thin, very nervous,
- 37:14very anxious and looked sickly. She sensed that he was deeply
- 37:20tormented, and so she asked what was bothering him, not having
- 37:25been previously. Told what he was there for,
- 37:29Randy would give a rough explanation of what he had done.
- 37:33And would follow it up with I just want to die.
- 37:38She told him that she believed that she had received a gift
- 37:41from God and asked him if she could say a prayer for him out
- 37:46loud to try and help him. And if he could repeat this
- 37:51prayer with her and mean every word of what was being said.
- 37:56Nor then says a prayer of deliverance, calling upon Jesus
- 38:00to cast out demons. Randy, although desperately
- 38:05trying, finds himself unable to recite the prayer back to Nora.
- 38:11He then goes unconscious, sitting in a hair cutting chair.
- 38:16Whilst this is taking place, his head, which was folded down into
- 38:21his chest, picks back up, but the eyes that have been looking
- 38:26into Nora's were no longer there.
- 38:30They had instead gone entirely black.
- 38:35The word suicide would erupt from Randy's lips, only to be
- 38:40followed by a horrendous scream, one that sounded like multiple
- 38:46men yelling at once. The chair would then be thrust
- 38:51backwards and make contact with a nearby wall, throwing Randy
- 38:56onto the floor. He would once again open his
- 38:59eyes to reveal abyssal orbs staring at Nora and would let
- 39:05out a deep growl in Nora's words.
- 39:10I had prayed and delivered many people before, but had never
- 39:14seen or experienced or ever thought that something like this
- 39:19could happen. Grabbing a nearby crucifix.
- 39:22Off the wall. Nora presented it to Randy.
- 39:27He then began to make what can only be described as the noise
- 39:31of an angry cat, but in a much lower tone, and then his throat
- 39:38began to bulge as if he had swallowed a grapefruit.
- 39:42Continuing to pray and plead with Jesus to cast out the
- 39:46unholy spirits out of Randy as the horrendous screams tear from
- 39:52his mouth. She places the crucifix to his
- 39:55chest. And with one final scream, the
- 40:00bulge in his throat disobeys, and he goes silent and still.
- 40:07After several tense minutes, Randy wakes up and begins to
- 40:13weep. He said that Jesus saved him,
- 40:17that he felt truly free. Accompanying Randy home,
- 40:22Northern meets his family and blesses their house for them.
- 40:27But she doesn't stop there, she convinces them to allow her to
- 40:31bless the original home, or she put it the place where evil had
- 40:37first been released. In the words of Randy, Nora had
- 40:42felt that a bottomless pit had been opened up within the walls
- 40:45of that home, and she wanted to close it.
- 40:49In Noor's words, there truly is a darkness that hopes to find
- 40:54those that seek it with curiosity so that it may take
- 40:58advantage of those people and wreak havoc in their lives.
- 41:03Nora would conclude the blessing, and all four of them
- 41:07would leave the house, never to return.
- 41:11All demonic activity from there on out would cease.
- 41:16But before we conclude today's episode, let us first ponder
- 41:21some questions I found myself asking as I explored this
- 41:24interesting case. Do you think the Native American
- 41:28bones had anything to do with the initial haunting personally,
- 41:33aside from perhaps inspiring a darker curiosity that led to
- 41:37Randy seeking the occult? It doesn't seem so, unless this
- 41:42was the intended consequences by those whose resting place have
- 41:47been disturbed. I also feel this way considering
- 41:51how regular of a finding it was in Standish.
- 41:55Secondly, although I researched the supposed demons, I wasn't
- 41:59able to find much. Perhaps these particular deities
- 42:03aren't very well known, or perhaps their names had been
- 42:07changed to protect anyone who may seek them out as a result of
- 42:11the story by Randy. It's hard telling.
- 42:16I also think that it's interesting that those who
- 42:19summoned demons typically do so for their supposed powers or
- 42:24assistance with particular tasks.
- 42:27Although I obviously don't practice this, it would be
- 42:30interesting to hear if anyone has or have they been successful
- 42:35in their endeavors or if it's always just a trick.
- 42:40I'll weigh in if Randy was aware that these summoned spirits were
- 42:44tormenting him. Why would he?
- 42:46Allow for his mother and sister to move in with him.
- 42:50Don't you think this would be kind of a no brainer?
- 42:53Perhaps he didn't have the forethought to think that they
- 42:55might affect them. Then again, he was a younger man
- 42:59at the time. Why did the minister refused to
- 43:02offer real help to Randy and his attempts to free himself?
- 43:06How can one believe in Christian teachings and the Bible and yet
- 43:11not believe in demons? This one really perplexed me
- 43:16because it's like wanting your cake and eating it too.
- 43:19One can't really exist without the other.
- 43:22Good can't truly exist without evil.
- 43:27Because of the minister's failure, Randy then sought out
- 43:30non conventional help with Mike. Mike obviously had good
- 43:34intentions but was inexperienced.
- 43:38He certainly should have shared that with Randy prior to coming
- 43:41to perform a ritual. At his house.
- 43:44A ritual which made things exponentially worse, then to
- 43:49just up and leave following making things worse was
- 43:53certainly not a good move. And during said ritual, why in
- 43:58God's name did no one think to at least bring Tammy, who was 11
- 44:01at the time, into the protection circle, but rather just to leave
- 44:07her to her own devices during the supernatural battle?
- 44:11This one too had me questioning Randy and Belva's competency.
- 44:15And last but certainly not least, because I'm sure there
- 44:19are other questions that you guys will bring up or come up
- 44:22with on your own, and Randy met with Nora and an exorcism
- 44:27essentially began. He said the word sessage before
- 44:31hurling back and then out of his chair.
- 44:35This is Jesus spelled backwards. Do you think whatever entities
- 44:39that inhabited him did this to mock him?
- 44:42Also, the lack of sleep, no doubt in my mind, played a major
- 44:47role in breaking Randy down in order for him to be possessed.
- 44:52I would consider this the previous state of oppression.
- 44:56But all the speculation aside, a few things are certain.
- 45:01There is a Dark World that exists beyond our veil of
- 45:04comprehension, an abyss that hosts abhorrent and terrifying
- 45:10entities. And if you dabble in the occult,
- 45:14especially if you're an inexperienced person, you might
- 45:18not seek to contact them, per Southeast, but they might just
- 45:23take an interest in you. Think of it as sending out a
- 45:27beacon of light and the dead of night.
- 45:31They might notice you begin to crave you until they finally
- 45:37find a way into your life and begin to stalk, oppress, and
- 45:43eventually consume you. Be wary, be vigilant, and don't
- 45:50let that be you. How far would you go to save
- 45:55someone you loved? Would you spend all of your
- 45:58money trying to find the best treatment?
- 46:00Would you sacrifice a part of your very soul?
- 46:04When a caretaker performs what's supposed to be an ancient
- 46:07healing ritual on her friend's ailing grandmother, she
- 46:11unknowingly unleashes a terrifying and powerful demon.
- 46:16An entity that claim to be one of the Seven Princess of Hell.
- 46:21Will all those involved have their lives be torn apart as the
- 46:24malevolent demon haunts and torments their every waking
- 46:28moments? Or can they somehow be saved?
- 46:34This is the untold story of the Deborah Moffat case, also known
- 46:39as the Deadly Haunting or Mr. Entity case, which took place in
- 46:44California, and this is truly one you don't want to enjoy with
- 46:49the lights off. The following story has been
- 47:00sourced from Deborah Moffatt's own words as well as several
- 47:03outside resources to try and form the most cohesive timeline
- 47:07possible. Not all names were able to be
- 47:10found, but I've done my best to provide the most accurate story
- 47:14that I can. Our story begins in 1984 when
- 47:18the grandmother in law of another woman who will become
- 47:21integral to our story. A woman named Deborah Moffin
- 47:25suffered a terrible and debilitating stroke.
- 47:29As a result of this unfortunate occurrence, she required around
- 47:33the clock care. To compensate for this, the
- 47:37family all chipped in and pooled together enough money to go
- 47:40ahead and hire a caretaker for her, someone who they trusted.
- 47:46A nearby neighbor and friend of the family, a middle-aged lady
- 47:50from Guatemala named Juanita. This arrangement was both a
- 47:54godsend for Juanita as well as the family.
- 47:57It allowed Juanita to stay in the United States on her work
- 48:00visa and earn a nice living while providing aid to her
- 48:04friends. And it allowed the family's dear
- 48:07loved one to be taken care of by someone who they knew and
- 48:10trusted. Although this is somewhat
- 48:12controversial, this woman was an avid practitioner of what's
- 48:16known as Santeria. Santeria is an African diasporic
- 48:22religion that developed in Cuba during the late 19th century.
- 48:27It arose through a process of syncretism between the
- 48:30traditional Europa religion of West Africa and the Catholic
- 48:34form of Christianity and spiritualism.
- 48:38Offerings to the Eureka or various gods often included
- 48:41fruit, liquor, flowers, and sacrificed animals.
- 48:47In the months to come, Grandma's recovery was not going well.
- 48:51If anything, unfortunately, she was getting worse, much worse.
- 48:57Each day her state seemed to deteriorate more.
- 49:01Worried about her? Friends and their grandmother,
- 49:04as well as her own well-being. Thinking that perhaps if Grandma
- 49:08passed away that she would no longer be able to reside in
- 49:11California due to the loss of her job and the high cost of
- 49:15living and having to compete in the job market to keep her work
- 49:19visa, Juanita decided to take matters into her own hands.
- 49:24She decided to try an ancient Santeria healing spell in hopes
- 49:28that it would allow everyone involved, but especially for
- 49:30grandma, to do better. However, this ritual would prove
- 49:34to be anything but helpful. Grandma, in fact, would not get
- 49:39better. Weeks following the ritual, she
- 49:43would ultimately pass away. Not only did she pass away and
- 49:48her family was devastated, but Juanita would indeed lose her
- 49:52job as a result. I tried to dig to uncover any
- 49:56and all details as far as what happened to Juanita, but I was
- 50:00unable to find anything. My best guess is that perhaps
- 50:04with the loss of her caretaker position, she either couldn't
- 50:07afford to live in the area anymore and or she went back to
- 50:11her native country. But those are just speculation
- 50:14on my part. Deborah and her husband Bill
- 50:17would inherit the home and in due time would move into it
- 50:21following Grandma's funeral. At first, all would be rather
- 50:25normal and quiet within the house, but that would ultimately
- 50:30change with the birth of Debbie and Bill's first child in 1987.
- 50:35Their first son, Bill, was a big sports memorabilia collector and
- 50:40had a particular spare bedroom dedicated to his hobby.
- 50:44He was especially fond of bobble heads, particularly baseball
- 50:48bobble heads. It's important to know that they
- 50:51kept this room locked at all times and Bill was the only
- 50:54person who had a key to enter. 1 seemingly normal day, Deborah,
- 51:00Bill and a friend who lived nearby were headed into the
- 51:03house to show the Fringe just how extensive the collection had
- 51:06become. My best guess said this
- 51:09gentleman was also very much into sports as well.
- 51:12As they opened the door and began to walk into the room,
- 51:16they were shocked by what they saw.
- 51:17All of the bobble heads on the toys had been removed from the
- 51:22ones on the shelves to the walls and cabinets, and all of them
- 51:28had been laid together in the center of the floor to form a
- 51:31triangle of sorts. Not only was Bill upset and
- 51:35shocked by this, but the group wasn't sure of what to make of
- 51:39this happening. They somehow thought that
- 51:41someone had managed to break into the room to play a prank on
- 51:44them, but as to why they would have played such a prank on them
- 51:48and who would have done it was uncertain at best.
- 51:52Following this happening, only more bizarre things began to
- 51:56manifest. But as they typically do, these
- 52:00manifestations started small. Grandma had been a very
- 52:04religious lady, and in the room that was hers she kept a bedside
- 52:09table with several icons, those of which contained both Jesus
- 52:13and the Virgin Mary in honor of him.
- 52:16They had kept that table and those icons in the same place
- 52:20that she had left them. One morning as Deborah was
- 52:23cleaning house, she noticed that a pair of her husband's briefs
- 52:27were draped over the biggest statue of Jesus on the very same
- 52:30table. Not only did her husband not
- 52:32change in this room, but she knew how close Bill was to his
- 52:36grandmother and how he would never have done anything to
- 52:39disrespect her or her things. Thinking that somehow it must
- 52:44have been an accident and unnerved at the strangeness yet
- 52:47again, the couple was unsure of what they were dealing with and
- 52:52not making it a priority or jumping to conclusions since
- 52:55they were dealing with a newborn.
- 52:57I can't say I blamed them because that's always going to
- 53:00be at the forefront of your mind.
- 53:03As soon as their son was roughly a month old, yet another weird
- 53:07thing would occur. The couple this evening had been
- 53:10out at a relative's house for dinner and as food was 8 laughs
- 53:14were had and dusk turned into night.
- 53:18They would say their goodbyes and begin traversing the winding
- 53:21roads back home. Upon arrival they placed their
- 53:25keys in their door and stepped inside of their house to begin
- 53:29to wind down. They flicked on their living
- 53:31room light switch and as the lights illuminated they would
- 53:35see a bizarre enigmatic symbol drawn on the wall.
- 53:40Describing it later, Deborah would refer to it as something
- 53:43that she had never really seen before, like a series of
- 53:46triangles with tails, but yet again, a triangle was involved.
- 53:53As they surveyed the house, they noticed that the symbols weren't
- 53:56just on the 1st wall in the living room, they were on all of
- 54:00the walls in what would turn out to be the entire house, each of
- 54:05them appearing to have been drawn in some kind of a charcoal
- 54:08like substance. Bill and Debbie again weren't
- 54:11sure of what to make of this, so they went to the logical
- 54:14headspace that perhaps somehow someone was pranking them yet
- 54:18again, or they were breaking into their house, both of which
- 54:22were unnerving at best, and both of which didn't make any sense.
- 54:28The pranking because they didn't really have a relationship with
- 54:32anyone like that, let alone they hadn't given access to their
- 54:35house to anyone else and was someone intruding into their
- 54:39home. All of their doors and windows
- 54:41were locked and none of their belongings or valuables would be
- 54:45missing. It would take several hours, but
- 54:49they would eventually settle and fall asleep this very night,
- 54:53despite the confusion and now fear that someone was truly
- 54:57messing with them. Five days following this night,
- 55:01as Bill rearranged his sports room, Deborah had taken up the
- 55:05task of cleaning the living room.
- 55:07On one of their walls, there was a long shelf filled with little
- 55:11keepsakes and knickknacks. She had glanced at the shelf
- 55:15while sweeping the floor and then again looked back at it.
- 55:19And as she would describe later, it was like as if in the blink
- 55:22of an eye, every single item on that shelf was turned backwards
- 55:29upon coming out of his sports. Room.
- 55:31Bill was told by Deborah what had taken place, but at the time
- 55:35refused to believe it, saying that she couldn't have seen it
- 55:38right to begin with. However, Debbie knew what she
- 55:42had seen and just how impossible it would have been for them to
- 55:46all be facing backwards, but she was the only one who ever
- 55:50touched them. But despite trying to approach
- 55:52the situations logically, these logical happenings would only
- 55:57continue. One week later, the two would
- 56:01arrive home to discover a lamp sitting in the middle of their
- 56:04living room. With nothing else in the home
- 56:07out of place and nothing being wrong with any of the doors or
- 56:11windows, Debbie began to think that perhaps something was
- 56:15taking place that they couldn't understand.
- 56:19Bill harbored a deep fear of the paranormal and with these
- 56:23realizations somewhat went to a state of denial, utterly
- 56:27refusing to believe that something even remotely close as
- 56:30such could be taking place, let alone to them.
- 56:35The lamp would be placed back on the shelf where it was supposed
- 56:38to be, and following this the two headed into the kitchen.
- 56:43This Bill continued to try and rationalize and come up with
- 56:46excuses as to what was happening to them.
- 56:50After having a brief discussion and without hearing so much as
- 56:53the smallest of sounds, the couple would re emerge into
- 56:57their living room after roughly 2 to 3 minutes and would be
- 57:01shaken to their core. Before their very eyes they
- 57:06would find all of their furniture rearranged and stacked
- 57:10one piece on top of the other. It was if the entire room had
- 57:14been shifted upside down, but all within mere minutes and
- 57:19essentially and dead silence. At this point, there was no way
- 57:25to deny that they were indeed dealing with something beyond
- 57:28their normal realm of comprehension.
- 57:30But with this realization, the two had completely different
- 57:34thoughts about the matter. Deborah was apprehensive yet
- 57:38fascinated as to what could be happening, and Bill,
- 57:42surprisingly was done denying what was taking place and was
- 57:47ready to move immediately and leave everything behind.
- 57:52Debbie would end up placing the furniture back to normal in the
- 57:54living room. Bill didn't even want to be
- 57:57inside of the house, so he stood outside.
- 58:01He would then refuse to have anything to do with the activity
- 58:04from this point onward, essentially heading back into
- 58:08denial. To Deborah, the feeling wasn't a
- 58:11malevolent one. At first, she saw it as almost a
- 58:15game of sorts. Whether this would prove to be
- 58:18detrimental or not later, it's up to you.
- 58:22With these feelings, she would begin to try and communicate
- 58:25with the presents daily, asking it to move things around to
- 58:29prove that it was there and incredibly it whatever it was,
- 58:35would oblige. This action would begin a cat
- 58:38and mouse game that went on for roughly a week or so until one
- 58:42day it randomly ceased. Eventually, due to Bill's lack
- 58:48of comfort, the couple would purchase and move into the house
- 58:51next door and would keep their old home as a rental property
- 58:55for several years. This decision would result in an
- 59:00eventual revolving door of tenants, some of them staying a
- 59:04year or so, but most of them just staying several months and
- 59:09leaving without giving a reason. It's important to note here that
- 59:13Bill would actually mention that the property could possibly be
- 59:16haunted, but most people laughed at the idea.
- 59:20Perhaps it was the times. Perhaps people back then weren't
- 59:23as open minded to the world of the paranormal as they are now.
- 59:28After several years of renting out their home, Bill and Debbie
- 59:32and several other surviving family members decided that they
- 59:35would sell their current homes and rental properties and
- 59:38purchase one large home and share the space as one big
- 59:42family. Once this was tackled after
- 59:46several days of moving their own belongings to the new home, on
- 59:50the final day at their old house, something peculiar
- 59:54happened. Deborah and a relative were
- 59:57gathering the final boxes from a room in the back of the house
- 1:00:01when suddenly they heard what they described as an explosion
- 1:00:07come from the kitchen, dropping the boxes and bolting to the
- 1:00:11origin of the noise to see just what had happened.
- 1:00:15The two ladies were left speechless.
- 1:00:18All of the cabinets, the countertops, everything had been
- 1:00:23ripped from the walls and pieces of them now lay all over the
- 1:00:28floor. Before they could begin to
- 1:00:30process what had just taken place, they would hear another
- 1:00:33loud explosion, but this time it came from the bedroom that they
- 1:00:37had just ran from. Running back there they again
- 1:00:41would be astonished. Every window in the back bedroom
- 1:00:45had been blown out with absolutely no explanation.
- 1:00:49Shards of glass littered the carpet and covered the final
- 1:00:53boxes they sought to move out. Wasting no time, Debbie grabbed
- 1:00:58the relative by the arm and the two fled to the car, leaving the
- 1:01:02final boxes behind. They would leave the property as
- 1:01:06quickly as they could. It was within these moments that
- 1:01:10Deborah now knew that whatever the force was, that they had
- 1:01:13been dealing. With.
- 1:01:15Was not benevolent and in fact seemed hostile, trying to come
- 1:01:21to terms with what had just happened.
- 1:01:23Shaking with fear, she drove to the new house and the two would
- 1:01:27spend the rest of the day trying to forget what had just
- 1:01:30happened. For the first several days,
- 1:01:33everything seemed to be quiet and calm in the new house as the
- 1:01:36family altogether unpacked and got settled into their new life
- 1:01:40together. The dynamic consisted of Deborah
- 1:01:43and Bill and the master bedroom downstairs, and Bill's mother
- 1:01:47and father upstairs, and the other master bedroom.
- 1:01:51Two other relatives lived there as well, but I wasn't able to
- 1:01:54find additional details as to their exact relation or the time
- 1:01:58frame in which they ended up staying or leaving.
- 1:02:01But sometimes it's people that are haunted, not places.
- 1:02:07So yet again, the Moffitts would find themselves plagued by the
- 1:02:11same malevolent force that had previously stalked them from the
- 1:02:15shadows. The entity, like a feral beast
- 1:02:19who had simply been wounded, had nursed those wounds and seemed
- 1:02:24hell bent on revenge. With the reappearance of this
- 1:02:29malevolent force, certain members of the family were
- 1:02:32opposed to seeking assistance, while others felt that it was
- 1:02:37necessary to do. Those opposing believed that
- 1:02:41they would be made a mockery of, considered crazy, and dismissed,
- 1:02:46leaving their reputations in shambles.
- 1:02:49But together, they all believed that this problem was way too
- 1:02:53far out of their scope of normalcy to be able to tackle
- 1:02:56themselves. As the family stood divided
- 1:02:59against one another, the entity began to further isolate them
- 1:03:03individually. Not only could they certainly
- 1:03:06not have any guests over for fear that they too would be
- 1:03:09affected, but wherever they seem to go, it would follow.
- 1:03:15It continuously made them so uncomfortable that they soon
- 1:03:19quit going places altogether, except for their essentials.
- 1:03:23For example, on one occasion Deborah and Bill had been at one
- 1:03:27of Bill's friends homes for dinner.
- 1:03:30They would have a nice time, but this would be all too short
- 1:03:34lived. Upon their return to the house,
- 1:03:37on the kitchen table was the friend's wallet.
- 1:03:41They had just been inside of his house and as one might imagine,
- 1:03:46this would be more than enough to chill someone to the bone.
- 1:03:51It was if the entity was telling them to stop or else someone
- 1:03:55else might get hurt. The Moffatt's, now beside
- 1:04:00themselves with fear, were also worried just how they would
- 1:04:04explain to their friend why they had his wallet or just what he
- 1:04:08would say or think in an effort to try and seek some sort of
- 1:04:13help. Deborah was able to convince
- 1:04:16most of her family to go and visit a local but well known
- 1:04:20psychologist to make sure it wasn't some kind of mass
- 1:04:23hysteria or that someone, herself included, hadn't somehow
- 1:04:28convinced themselves and everyone else that something
- 1:04:32paranormal was taking place when it wasn't.
- 1:04:37The psychologist, whose name was never disclosed, was based out
- 1:04:41of Rancho Cucamonga, CA and was apprehensive at first, but who
- 1:04:46can blame them? But after much explaining and
- 1:04:50meeting with the members of the family, together and separately,
- 1:04:54the psychologist would come to the conclusion that something
- 1:04:57strange was indeed taking place, something that they couldn't
- 1:05:01help with. Unable to assist the family
- 1:05:04further, they told them that they needed to seek the help of
- 1:05:07a parapsychologist, a religious institution, or some other party
- 1:05:13that studies these kinds of things.
- 1:05:16So following the psychologist's advice, with most of Bill's
- 1:05:19family being religious, Catholic specifically, they would seek
- 1:05:24the help of the church that they attended.
- 1:05:27The church agreed to help them and would send a priest to bless
- 1:05:30their home and after several weeks after their meeting, an
- 1:05:34older priest would arrive at their house.
- 1:05:37Upon crossing the threshold of the home and into the four year,
- 1:05:41the priest would take out his holy water and begin to sprinkle
- 1:05:45it on the walls around him and make the sign of the cross
- 1:05:48towards the hallway. Oddly though, you refuse to go
- 1:05:52any further into the home when asked.
- 1:05:55Aren't you supposed to bless every room?
- 1:05:58The priest would rebuttal. No, no this should be more than
- 1:06:01enough. I have to go now and further
- 1:06:05effort to get him to do what he was supposed to do.
- 1:06:08The family explained all of what had been taking place.
- 1:06:12The priest would make eye contact with Deborah and say
- 1:06:17women when they get older they tend to get a little crazy.
- 1:06:22Now excuse me, I have to go then without another.
- 1:06:26Word. He exited the door and left in
- 1:06:29his vehicle. The family noticed he had seemed
- 1:06:33unnerved or slightly scared while he was at the house, but
- 1:06:37they were also totally flabbergasted at his odd
- 1:06:40response to them and their legitimate attempts to seek
- 1:06:44assistance. Thus, they were again left
- 1:06:47without any real help, believing the blessing to be rather
- 1:06:51subpar. Bill's mother, Lee, who was the
- 1:06:54most religious out of all of them, was simply crushed at the
- 1:06:58church's response and never truly seemed the same.
- 1:07:01Following this incident, the entity seemed to latch onto this
- 1:07:06and began to feed upon her negativity following what had
- 1:07:09taken place. It began to torment her day in
- 1:07:13and day out. Some examples of what it would
- 1:07:16do to her would be to destroy her belongings.
- 1:07:20It would make her shoes disappear, as in one shoe would
- 1:07:23go missing from a pair. It destroyed her purse, wallet,
- 1:07:28credit cards, and licenses multiple times, and it would
- 1:07:32hide things from her if it didn't destroy them.
- 1:07:36It was if to say that I'm the one that's in control, and
- 1:07:39you'll own things only if I say that you can.
- 1:07:43Having very bad eyesight most of her life, the creature would
- 1:07:47take Lee's glasses away from her or smash them, and while she was
- 1:07:52unable to see, it would manifest itself as a large, terrifying,
- 1:07:58foreboding figure, which without her glasses to Lee seemed like a
- 1:08:03massive black mist. Then it would often touch or
- 1:08:07abuse her. The demon also began to have a
- 1:08:11peculiar obsession with knives. Knives began appearing stuck in
- 1:08:16the walls and frighteningly under chairs, so if someone sat
- 1:08:20down they would greatly injure themselves.
- 1:08:24And these knives, strangers still, were not the family's
- 1:08:28knives. They had absolutely no idea
- 1:08:31where they came from. The intensity of the knife
- 1:08:35situation wouldn't escalate to the point to where they were
- 1:08:38being placed upright under pillows, and Lee again seemed to
- 1:08:42bear the brunt of the abuse. The Moffits were seemingly beat
- 1:08:46down into a corner, and as they sat there, they collectively
- 1:08:51wandered just how they could defend themselves against
- 1:08:54something that they couldn't see.
- 1:08:57Just how could they defeat an entity that shouldn't exist?
- 1:09:02The torture would continue for the family as a whole, but it
- 1:09:05was being done as if the demon was wanting to communicate some
- 1:09:08kind of message. One day an unmistakable sign
- 1:09:13would appear indeed communicating the 1st and what
- 1:09:17would become many. The entity began to ride on
- 1:09:21various mirrors throughout the house and soap, its first
- 1:09:26message appearing to Lee saying talk to me.
- 1:09:30And this particular message appeared shortly after the
- 1:09:33family had come home from getting groceries together.
- 1:09:37Trying to regain some sense of normalcy at first, wanting to
- 1:09:42make sure it wasn't one of the family members playing a trick
- 1:09:45on the others, which would be pretty horrible at this point to
- 1:09:48be honest. They cleaned the mirror
- 1:09:50thoroughly and then everyone convened in the bedroom together
- 1:09:55saying that if there was additional riding on the mirror
- 1:09:58following them cleaning it within the next several minutes,
- 1:10:01then the event is indeed real. After approximately 15 minutes
- 1:10:06of waiting, they reluctantly reentered the bathroom to find
- 1:10:10the words Nene, don't go into the Attic written on the mirror.
- 1:10:17Upon reading this, Lee froze in her tracks.
- 1:10:21There was only one person whoever called her that nickname
- 1:10:24or was even aware of it, and that was her long deceased
- 1:10:29sister. From here, the days would turn
- 1:10:33into nights and the messages would continue becoming more
- 1:10:38sadistic, controlling, and abusive.
- 1:10:43For the next year, the family would be held hostage by what
- 1:10:46they now believed to be a demonic entity.
- 1:10:50The messages were more or less commands or insults, and the
- 1:10:54spear wouldn't answer any of their questions in response to
- 1:10:58them. It got to the point that when if
- 1:11:00they sought to go places for any reason, they had to ask
- 1:11:04permission. Otherwise, they would have car
- 1:11:07issues or damage such as broken windshields, headlights, or even
- 1:11:14engine failure. Eventually, out of frustration,
- 1:11:19Bill's father would ask the name of the entity in hopes that they
- 1:11:23could figure out just what it was and what it wanted and why
- 1:11:27it tormented them all in an effort to put a stop to it.
- 1:11:32And upon asking, they all would finally receive an answer.
- 1:11:37There, scribbled on the mirror was the name Prince, and
- 1:11:43following them receiving this name, they would hear a
- 1:11:46commotion coming from all over the house below them.
- 1:11:50Rushing down the stairs they would find many of their items
- 1:11:53and furniture broken in pieces and several symbols scribbled on
- 1:11:58the walls and floors. The symbol, as vaguely mentioned
- 1:12:03before, involved triangles and small offshoot characters.
- 1:12:09The shape over time would be scribbled, carved, and even
- 1:12:13burned into walls, floors, and furniture within the home.
- 1:12:19Following this, even each day seemed to mirror the last.
- 1:12:24It almost always started with the family having to put the
- 1:12:27home back together. Everything would be in complete
- 1:12:30disarray upon them waking up each and every morning and
- 1:12:35wherever they went, it went. If they went out to eat, even
- 1:12:42upon asking permission, and they would return the name tag of the
- 1:12:47waiter, her waitress would be on the table.
- 1:12:51And one time, a massive bite was taken out of the mother in law's
- 1:12:55stake just mere seconds after she received it, with no
- 1:12:59rational origin as to how it happened.
- 1:13:04This state of utter imprisonment and constant battle with an
- 1:13:07enemy that they couldn't see led the family to seek additional
- 1:13:11help to try and free themselves of the hell that they now lived
- 1:13:15in. They would go through a long
- 1:13:18list of reputable people and organizations to try and escape,
- 1:13:24but nothing. Seemed to work.
- 1:13:27Some of these included Lloyd Auerbach and his connections to
- 1:13:31various paranormal societies. One such society consisted of
- 1:13:37Christopher Chacon, another well known name in the paranormal
- 1:13:41world, and his investigation team.
- 1:13:44They were unable to make sense of the situation and ultimately
- 1:13:49couldn't help the Moffits. The Moffits would reach out to
- 1:13:53various religious organizations of differing faiths.
- 1:13:57They tried having magicians come out and they would even make
- 1:14:00contact with Thelma Moss who would send Carrie Gaynor out to
- 1:14:04investigate. The very same Thelma Moss and
- 1:14:08Carrie Gaynor that were involved in the San Pedro haunting as
- 1:14:12well as the entity or better known as the Doris Bither Case.
- 1:14:17And yet no one could get rid of it.
- 1:14:20No amount of blessings, rituals or investigations seemed to
- 1:14:26work. They would have shamans out,
- 1:14:30Wiccans, and even the Warrens, and still no one could help
- 1:14:36them. As the years trickled by, ever
- 1:14:39slowly, agonizingly, things had not improved.
- 1:14:45Rather, it had become so violent and dangerous within the house
- 1:14:49that the entire family, both Bill's parents, Bill and
- 1:14:53Deborah, and their son were all sleeping in the lower living
- 1:14:57room together and would not separate.
- 1:15:00For fear of what would happen. The demon known as Prince had
- 1:15:06taken over the entire upstairs one night.
- 1:15:11Deborah, on behalf of her mother-in-law, decided to risk
- 1:15:15it and head upstairs to grab some medication that had been
- 1:15:18left behind that she desperately needed.
- 1:15:22Upon opening the door and walking into this now claimed
- 1:15:25domain, every fiber of her being was telling her to turn around
- 1:15:31and run. Persisting, she made her way
- 1:15:35past all the broken furniture and utter chaos to wear the
- 1:15:39medication was, and after grasping the bottle in her palm,
- 1:15:45turning around to head back downstairs, she heard a low
- 1:15:50growling noise behind her. Originally from the attic.
- 1:15:56There in the flesh was the disembodied head of a grotesque
- 1:16:02creature, grayish in appearance, with the blackest, most soulless
- 1:16:08eyes imaginable. A twisted horn emerged from its
- 1:16:12temple and up over its head. This caused an involuntary
- 1:16:17scream to erupt from Deborah's mouth, straight from the depths
- 1:16:22of her soul. She then, with everything she
- 1:16:25had, ran back downstairs. She believed that this indeed
- 1:16:31was the entity known as Prince's true form.
- 1:16:36Things from here continue to go downhill.
- 1:16:38As they do. And would escalate in intensity
- 1:16:42and torture. Lee one morning went to grab
- 1:16:46something from the pantry in the kitchen, a place for the most
- 1:16:49part where they felt safe. And since it was on the ground
- 1:16:52level of the house. As she opened the door and
- 1:16:56stepped into the walk in pantry to grab the item that she was
- 1:16:59after. Suddenly.
- 1:17:02Behind her, the door slammed shut.
- 1:17:06She then felt invisible hands grab her throat and squeeze,
- 1:17:12picking her up her feet, leaving the floor and dangling as she
- 1:17:19struggled to breathe, feeling as if it was the end.
- 1:17:23When everything began to go black, the hands suddenly
- 1:17:28released and she collapsed down to the.
- 1:17:31Floor. Her husband would be the first
- 1:17:34to rush to her aid, and she would be hysterical after coming
- 1:17:38back to consciousness. Prince clearly had the power to
- 1:17:43take a human life, or so it seemed, but chose not to.
- 1:17:49Was this because it wanted to feed upon misery versus taking
- 1:17:52the soul or for some other reason?
- 1:17:56The demons perhaps have rules they had to abide by.
- 1:18:00Deborah had finally reached her breaking point.
- 1:18:03She stormed into the upstairs bathroom and demanded answers
- 1:18:07from Prince. She told the being that the
- 1:18:10family was no longer to be touched, that they would respect
- 1:18:14its space if it would respect theirs, and surprisingly, she
- 1:18:20began to receive replies on the mirror in the same fashion as
- 1:18:24the entity had always communicated by riding on it.
- 1:18:29Prince said that he would no longer bother any other member
- 1:18:32of the family, but that Lee had been promised to him many moons
- 1:18:36ago and that he had come to collect.
- 1:18:41Deborah would ask the creature to elaborate, and for the next
- 1:18:45hour the entity would write on the mirror.
- 1:18:48Deborah would erase the writing, wait, go back, read and repeat
- 1:18:55until the full story had been told.
- 1:18:58Not wanting to allow Prince to have any sort of power over,
- 1:19:02Deborah decided to start referring to as Mr. Entity,
- 1:19:07essentially leaving him a nameless face but with a
- 1:19:11respectable title as they had agreed upon.
- 1:19:15Here I wanted to mention a few of the smaller details I
- 1:19:18uncovered from the time of Grandma's old house till now.
- 1:19:23The family did also experience paranormal manifestations that
- 1:19:26we commonly come across, such as putrid odors, knocking and
- 1:19:32banging throughout the home, all with no rational origin and
- 1:19:37rarely seen, but somewhat indicative of a more powerful
- 1:19:41entity. They also experienced an
- 1:19:44infestation. Some people experience insects
- 1:19:47from what I've come across. The Moffitts, however, had a
- 1:19:51terrible rat problem, but one that came out of nowhere and
- 1:19:55then disappeared roughly 2 weeks later, again with no 'cause.
- 1:20:02Another disturbing thing that Mister Entity had taken to doing
- 1:20:06was ending the lives of the family's dogs if it didn't get
- 1:20:09what it wanted. There are more.
- 1:20:11Details on what happened to several of the pets, but the
- 1:20:15details are gruesome and if I've learned anything from my prior
- 1:20:19videos, it's that it's really not necessary to include this
- 1:20:22kind of information. I just wanted to say that it
- 1:20:26happened, and it happened more than once in this case.
- 1:20:30Often times the ending to these kinds of cases can be anti
- 1:20:33climactic, and this one, despite how incredible of a story it is,
- 1:20:38is no exception. After six agonizing years with
- 1:20:43dozens of seasoned paranormal investigators, religious
- 1:20:47leaders, shamans, occult magicians, and more assisting
- 1:20:54the Moffitts with the demon known as Prince, no relief was
- 1:20:58provided. For all of those years, Prince
- 1:21:02continued to plague their lives until one day the entity simply
- 1:21:08was no longer there. Following the creature's
- 1:21:11departure, Debbie, Bill, and the family would destroy lots of
- 1:21:16photos but keep some in storage but stored in the attic.
- 1:21:22They would also for years stop speaking about what they had
- 1:21:24endured for fear of whatever it was would come back.
- 1:21:29But thankfully, for whatever reason, I never did.
- 1:21:35Debbie and Bill would go on to raise their family and
- 1:21:38eventually move on, with Debbie becoming an author and spiritual
- 1:21:42advisor not only to assist others who may have experienced
- 1:21:46something similar, but to also share her extensive knowledge
- 1:21:50and hellish waking life that her and her family endured under the
- 1:21:55reign of Prince. I'll be leaving links to her
- 1:21:59books on this video as well as in the description because
- 1:22:03they're certainly worth checking out, as well as several other
- 1:22:06resources I used to research this case as we conclude our
- 1:22:11story. As always, I'd like to give some
- 1:22:14of my thoughts I've had while researching this very unhinged
- 1:22:18but perplexing case. Was this spirit demonic?
- 1:22:23A familiar of sort? A Gen., as we'll see in a
- 1:22:26moment, or perhaps something pretending to be more than what
- 1:22:30it was. We will never have definitive
- 1:22:33answers for these questions. But in my opinion, Prince or Mr.
- 1:22:39Entity, whatever it was, was certainly incredibly powerful,
- 1:22:44especially given the destruction it was alleged to have
- 1:22:47perpetrated given the descriptions given by Debbie in
- 1:22:50various interviews, her own books and photos both provided
- 1:22:55by her. And again, in my opinion, the
- 1:22:58entity was certainly demonic. I think true demonic hauntings
- 1:23:02are not only extremely rare, but incredibly dangerous, with the
- 1:23:07spirits having the ability to cause tangible physical and
- 1:23:11mental harm to all involved. Demons aren't all powerful, but
- 1:23:16they are more intelligent than we are and can foresee things
- 1:23:20that we simply cannot. When explaining the story as to
- 1:23:24why it's sawed and tormented Lee so hard that apparently she had
- 1:23:28been promised many moons or years ago.
- 1:23:32This is what leads me to believe that perhaps someone in their
- 1:23:34lineage promised their descendants in exchange for
- 1:23:37something. Whether it was money, fame, or
- 1:23:41what have you. Perhaps the entity had finally
- 1:23:44come to collect its dead, the soul that was bartered during
- 1:23:48said exchange. Now I don't think that it was a
- 1:23:52human spirit pretending to be something it wasn't, a Prince of
- 1:23:56Hell I'm not totally convinced of, but most hauntings, the
- 1:24:01beings don't have half the ability of what Prince
- 1:24:04supposedly did. Many years following the events
- 1:24:08of the Moffitt family haunting, during an interview with the
- 1:24:11late great Art Bell, Debbie would speak with the guest who
- 1:24:15seemingly identified the symbol that Prince or Mr. Entity had
- 1:24:19supposedly used. It was a symbol he had come
- 1:24:23across during his time in the army while in Afghanistan.
- 1:24:27Further investigation revealed on his behalf that this symbol
- 1:24:31was that of Iblis, which is known as a jinn from the Quran.
- 1:24:36It's known as the leader of the devils in Islam.
- 1:24:39Iblis was thrown out of heaven after he refused to prostate
- 1:24:43himself before Adam. It's also known as the father of
- 1:24:48bitterness. This certainly would explain the
- 1:24:51power behind Prince, that's for sure.
- 1:24:55All around, this case is incredible, perplexing and
- 1:24:59terrifying. Taking things at Deborah
- 1:25:01Moffitt's word, I can only vaguely relate to just how
- 1:25:05terrible her and her family's experience dealing with this
- 1:25:08must have been. And one thing is for certain,
- 1:25:11whether Prince was indeed a Prince of Hell as it claimed to
- 1:25:14be, or just a very powerful entity, it certainly tormented
- 1:25:19this family as if they had been sent to the 7th circle.
- 1:25:24Themselves, deep within the shadows of our collective
- 1:25:30consciousness lies the eerie concept of demonic possession, a
- 1:25:36haunting notion that has lingered through the ages,
- 1:25:40weaving its tendrils into the tapestry of our faiths.
- 1:25:46The horrendous thought of being consumed, of succumbing to
- 1:25:51inscrutable forces that dwell beyond the veil of our
- 1:25:55comprehension. This idea seems to resonate
- 1:25:59within the darkest corners of the human mind and even within
- 1:26:05our very souls. Within this pitch black realm, a
- 1:26:10profound event unfolds involving a young woman, and what occurs
- 1:26:16would blur the delicate boundary between the world of the
- 1:26:20supernatural and the tangible, scaring the curious minds of
- 1:26:26those who experienced it, causing them to ponder if there
- 1:26:30certainly is a devil that lurks within the darkness.
- 1:26:35So join me as I explore the untold story of the terrifying
- 1:26:41exorcism of Martha Brozier, which took place in the 16th
- 1:26:46century and France the mid 1550s, a time fraught
- 1:27:04with prevalent superstitions and deep seated fears of witches and
- 1:27:09demons, creatures that hovered over mankind as menacing
- 1:27:15threats. A young woman named Martha
- 1:27:19Brozier, also known as Martha Brozier, emerged as a mysterious
- 1:27:25figure in an era characterized by the realms of black magic and
- 1:27:31the supernatural. Initially perceived as an
- 1:27:35unremarkable individual, she was merely seen as an eccentric
- 1:27:40girl, often keeping to herself, avoiding her neighbors, and
- 1:27:45preferring her own company. However, this unassuming, shy
- 1:27:50facade was shattered one rainy night.
- 1:27:55Martha, 20 years old at the time, and began to act
- 1:27:59exceptionally strange weeks prior to this night, drawing
- 1:28:05further and further into herself.
- 1:28:08She began to seem oppressed by something, something that she
- 1:28:12couldn't see, often being attacked or harassed at night.
- 1:28:19This night in particular, however, something very
- 1:28:22different took place. The petite woman, as lightning
- 1:28:26crashed and rain pelted the outside walls of her home,
- 1:28:32unleashed a bone chilling demonic howl.
- 1:28:37This alerted her parents who ran to see just what was happening.
- 1:28:42Upon opening the door to her room, they found their daughter
- 1:28:46perched in the. Corner of her room.
- 1:28:48Upon her night stand contorted, her limbs twisting in unnatural
- 1:28:55directions. She then again opened her mouth
- 1:29:00and screeched, her God awful screams being so loud that they
- 1:29:07even pierced the ears of nearby neighbors to the chaos of the
- 1:29:13storm. Little did the family realize
- 1:29:16that night that this event would reverberate throughout the
- 1:29:21tumultuous year of 1576. Word spread like wildfire, and
- 1:29:28with the heavily religious lives of most Europeans at that time,
- 1:29:32these rumored otherworldly screams soon sparked immediate
- 1:29:37suspicion. Suspicion that the young woman
- 1:29:41could have perhaps been involved in witchcraft.
- 1:29:45That the devil had made his way inside Martha Brogere.
- 1:29:51The out of the blue emergence of Martha's inexplicable behavior
- 1:29:55soon cast a sinister shadow over her neighbor, a woman named Anne
- 1:30:01Chevreaux. Suddenly, this calm and
- 1:30:05relatively charming woman found herself unjustly accused of
- 1:30:10bewitching Martha. Soon the accusations spiraled
- 1:30:15into a web of superstition, and this paranoia would ultimately
- 1:30:20lead to Anne's imprisonment. She would be charged with the
- 1:30:24crime of practicing sorcery, a grim fate sealed by the village
- 1:30:30folk, whose fear seemed to further taint the air with an
- 1:30:34aura of malevolence and terror. The bizarre behavior of Martha,
- 1:30:41which had begun to escalate that rainy night in her room just
- 1:30:45weeks before, had seemed to only get worse.
- 1:30:49Alongside screaming in dual octaves and contorting into
- 1:30:54abhorrent twisted positions, she began manifesting violent
- 1:30:59outbursts. She would try and attack anyone
- 1:31:03and everyone near her. Even while contorted, her teeth
- 1:31:08would gnash. Her voice emitted insults in a
- 1:31:13deep and guttural tone, as if several men were attempting to
- 1:31:18speak through her at once. Alongside this, blood curdling
- 1:31:23screams occasionally burst from her.
- 1:31:26She began to roll her eyes into the back of her skull.
- 1:31:30She would extend her tongue to inhuman links, often biting in
- 1:31:36and laughing. She would also begin to converse
- 1:31:40in unfamiliar languages she couldn't have possibly known.
- 1:31:44These included English and Greek alongside her native French.
- 1:31:51And even more disturbingly, she could speak these languages with
- 1:31:56her mouth closed, as if Martha was being used as a puppet.
- 1:32:01And alongside all of these unnatural symptoms, she also
- 1:32:07would boastfully move items without touching them.
- 1:32:10And when assaulting people or fighting restraints, she would
- 1:32:15show extraordinary strength, often taking multiple men to
- 1:32:20hold her down. And not without great struggle.
- 1:32:25As word spread about Martha, whispers of her alleged
- 1:32:29possession by demons or even the devil himself began to
- 1:32:34circulate. And in a surprising and
- 1:32:37extremely odd move, instead of recoiling in fear, her family
- 1:32:43embarked on a unique journey with Martha.
- 1:32:46They transformed her affliction into a macabre spectacle.
- 1:32:51They began travelling with her village to village to showcase
- 1:32:56the possessed woman they all kept hearing about and all of
- 1:33:01her grotesque glory. The alleged entity that
- 1:33:04inhabited Martha began to induce convulsions, terrifying roars,
- 1:33:11and a series of otherworldly displays that left spectators
- 1:33:16both mesmerized and petrified. The bizarre nature of her
- 1:33:20manifestations, including her ability to speak with a sealed
- 1:33:25mouth, extending her tongue to unnatural lengths, contorting
- 1:33:29her body in unimaginable ways, and exhibiting superhuman leaps
- 1:33:35even while lying down, defied logical explanation and
- 1:33:40solidified her reputation as a genuine supernatural enigma.
- 1:33:46This spectacle drew increasingly larger crowds, propelling Martha
- 1:33:51into celebrity status. King Henry the Fourth was not
- 1:33:56merely informed of these freakish displays and rumors,
- 1:34:00but rather he received a detailed account of Martha's
- 1:34:04manifestations and the growing whispers of alleged demonic
- 1:34:09possession that surrounded her. Intrigued by the escalating
- 1:34:13tales of the tormented girl, the king took decisive action and
- 1:34:17issued a royal decree for an exorcism.
- 1:34:21This decree set into motion a chain of events that led to
- 1:34:25Martha being escorted to the hallowed grounds of the Abbey of
- 1:34:31Saint Junisu, where a sense of anticipation and apprehension
- 1:34:36hung heavy in the air. It's important to note that I
- 1:34:40couldn't find information on any prior exorcisms, but rather her
- 1:34:45family seemed to be profiting off of her spiritual dilemma
- 1:34:49like a deformed creature at some kind of carnival or circus.
- 1:34:55Awaiting Martha's arrival at the Abbey was the eminent Bishop of
- 1:34:59Paris, a figure of authority and piety who stood ready to
- 1:35:04confront the story that had captured the attention of the
- 1:35:09entire Kingdom. Accompanying the Bishop was none
- 1:35:13other and the King's personal physician, Michelle Maryscott, a
- 1:35:19man whose skepticism towards the supernatural was well known.
- 1:35:24However, as Martha's case unfolded before him, Maryscott
- 1:35:29found himself embroiled in a unique experiment that would
- 1:35:33test the very boundaries of his beliefs and challenge the
- 1:35:38established notions demonic possession for Maryscott.
- 1:35:44This. Extraordinary situation
- 1:35:45presented an unparalleled opportunity to delve into the
- 1:35:49realms of the unknown, a chance to scrutinize the phenomena of
- 1:35:53possession with a keen eye for scientific inquiry.
- 1:35:59This exorcism, unlike any before it, became a Crucible of
- 1:36:03investigation where each detail, each reaction in each utterance
- 1:36:10were meticulously observed and analyzed.
- 1:36:14As Martha stood on the precipice between the earthly and the
- 1:36:18ethereal, Mary Scott found himself at the forefront of a
- 1:36:23ground breaking study that would ignite debates and discussions
- 1:36:29for years to come. The results of this
- 1:36:32unprecedented exorcism were not merely contentious, they became
- 1:36:37a focal point of scholarly discourse and theological
- 1:36:41deliberation, shaping the very fabric of beliefs and
- 1:36:46superstitions that permeated society.
- 1:36:50The revelations that emerged from this bizarre event continue
- 1:36:54to echo through the halls of history, leaving a lingering
- 1:36:58mystery that defies easy explanation and challenges the
- 1:37:03perceptions of those who bore witness to Martha's ordeal.
- 1:37:09The Physician, driven by his growing suspicions, meticulously
- 1:37:13orchestrated a covert plan to validate his doubts.
- 1:37:18With the utmost secrecy, he carried out a daring swap,
- 1:37:22exchanging the sacred relic, believed to be a piece of the
- 1:37:26True Cross, with a piece of mundane wood.
- 1:37:31The strategic maneuver aimed to unravel the tale surrounding
- 1:37:35Martha's eerie episodes and delve into the depths of her
- 1:37:39unsettling manifestations. Upon Martha's arrival at the
- 1:37:43solemn Abbey and the subsequent confrontation with the Bishop,
- 1:37:48the stage was set for a dramatic unfolding of events.
- 1:37:53As anticipated, with the presentation of holy objects,
- 1:37:58Martha's demeanor swiftly transformed.
- 1:38:02In the blink of an eye, she plunged into a tumultuous
- 1:38:05whirlwind of violence. Her rageful movements shook the
- 1:38:11very foundations of the Abbey. The contorted form of her body
- 1:38:17convulsed as she unleashed a torin of vile and profane
- 1:38:24utterances in multiple languages and in that horrible deep
- 1:38:30tonality, each syllable dripping with an ominous malevolence.
- 1:38:36The priests, taken aback by the chilling display before them,
- 1:38:40struggled to contain Martha, resorting to allegedly using a
- 1:38:45piece of the real True Cross to subdue her erratic behavior to
- 1:38:51essentially Dr. the demonic entities back to the point where
- 1:38:55she could be restrained. Yet after this occurred, the
- 1:38:59situation escalated once more to full blown intensity, objects
- 1:39:05hurling about as screams echoed once again.
- 1:39:11Amidst the chaos, the alleged piece of the True Cross was
- 1:39:15brought near Martha, and this triggered another visceral
- 1:39:19reaction, one that sent shivers throughout the witnesses.
- 1:39:25As the relic touched her, Martha recoiled in sheer terror, her
- 1:39:30face wincing in agony. Whilst being restrained and
- 1:39:35having the demon commanded to leave her body, a powerful and
- 1:39:40final scream came from her lips. She then fell limp.
- 1:39:46Upon regaining consciousness, tears began streaming down
- 1:39:51Martha's face. She was seemingly freed from the
- 1:39:55evil that had taken her. Those who witnessed the events
- 1:40:00were forever scarred by what they had seen.
- 1:40:03It was as if they had looked into the eyes of the devil
- 1:40:06himself. While the Bishop interpreted
- 1:40:10this harrowing scene as conclusive evidence of demonic
- 1:40:14possession, skepticism loomed the mind of the astute Mariska.
- 1:40:21His analytical gaze honed in on the discrepancy and the pieces
- 1:40:25of the cross that were presented to Martha and how she had
- 1:40:30reacted to the swapped items. She had, interestingly, seemed
- 1:40:34to have a much more profound reaction to the Decoy cross than
- 1:40:39that of the True Cross. This perplexing disparity
- 1:40:43fuelled Mara Scott's doubts, prompting a deeper introspection
- 1:40:48and to the complexities of the woman's affliction and the
- 1:40:52underlying forces at play. The intricate interplay of
- 1:40:56faith, skepticism, and the supernatural unfolded within the
- 1:41:02hallowed walls of the Abbey, setting the stage for a riveting
- 1:41:07clash of beliefs and interpretations.
- 1:41:11As the veil of uncertainty shrouded Martha's condition, the
- 1:41:16physician's clandestine experiment sparked a contentious
- 1:41:19debate that reverberated through the corridors of power and piety
- 1:41:26amidst the lingering cries of doubt and conviction.
- 1:41:30The true nature of Martha's plight remained veiled in
- 1:41:34mystery, awaiting further revelation as to what indeed had
- 1:41:39taken place. That night, Mary Scott informed
- 1:41:42the Bishop and other priests about his actions, stating that
- 1:41:47Martha's condition might be due to severe mental distress rather
- 1:41:52than possession. He considered this as evidence
- 1:41:56that there was no demonic influence involved.
- 1:42:00Despite Mary Scott's belief, the Bishop adamantly maintained that
- 1:42:04Martha was under demonic possession, going to the extent
- 1:42:09of accusing the physician of blasphemy for suggesting
- 1:42:13otherwise, another horrible charge that carried heavy
- 1:42:17consequences for that time. The debate raged on and
- 1:42:22consequently, although Mary Scott held strong suspicions
- 1:42:26that Martha's affliction was either a.
- 1:42:28Charade. Or a result of mental
- 1:42:30instability, he struggled to sway the Church's opinion.
- 1:42:35Thus, the experiment at this juncture faced a set back in
- 1:42:40achieving its intended outcome. Despite the outcome, Mary Scott
- 1:42:46in the coming months would find unexpected allies and his
- 1:42:49beliefs within the Church. Unbeknownst to him, the
- 1:42:54Archbishop of Lyon, Charles Meron, shared Mary Scott's
- 1:42:59conviction and chose to push the boundaries of the experiment.
- 1:43:02Further devised an elaborate plan to test his suspicions by
- 1:43:08concealing a key in red silk and presenting it to Martha as a
- 1:43:12fragment of the True Cross. Additionally, he proposed
- 1:43:17swapping holy water with regular water to observe her reactions,
- 1:43:23adding to the intrigue. He recited passages.
- 1:43:26From Virgils and Aid and Latin, intended to be nonsensical to a
- 1:43:31demon, but potentially misconstrued as potent scripture
- 1:43:36by an ordinary individual. In essence, the entire exorcism
- 1:43:42would be a meticulously orchestrated charade.
- 1:43:46Martha stood before the Archbishop, her body wracked by
- 1:43:51spasmatic convulsions that seemed to ripple through her
- 1:43:55being like violent tremors. As she stood in his presence, a
- 1:44:00sense of foreboding hung heavy in the air, shrouding the room
- 1:44:05in silence. Unbeknownst to Martha, the small
- 1:44:10vial of holy water was discreetly offered to her
- 1:44:13trembling hand, it's sanctified essence shimmering faintly in
- 1:44:18the dim light of the chamber. With a trembling grasp, she
- 1:44:23ingested the holy. Water.
- 1:44:25Her movements almost mechanical in their desperation for solace.
- 1:44:31However, the fateful moment arrived when a seemingly
- 1:44:35identical. Vial of water, carefully
- 1:44:37disguised as holy water, was presented to Martha As the
- 1:44:42liquid touched her lips, a Primal Scream tore through the
- 1:44:46stillness of the. Room reverberating with a raw
- 1:44:51agony that seemed to sear her very soul.
- 1:44:56The Archbishop, his gaze now piercing and unwavering,
- 1:45:01observed these events, his mind a maelstrom of conflicting
- 1:45:06thoughts and conjecture. Why did the ordinary water evoke
- 1:45:10such visceral distress, while the holy water remained
- 1:45:15untouched by the flames of her torment?
- 1:45:20What sinister forces lurked beneath the surface of Martha
- 1:45:24that they weave a web of fear and uncertainty around her very
- 1:45:28being? Moreover, the moment of truth
- 1:45:32arrived as a relic resembling a fragment of the revered True
- 1:45:37Cross was presented to Martha. The mere side of this sacred
- 1:45:42object triggered a reaction so intense.
- 1:45:46That it laid. Bare the depths of her inner
- 1:45:48turmoil with a stark clarity and sent terror through the hearts
- 1:45:53of those present. From here, the verses were read.
- 1:45:58Martha's reaction mirrored her encounter with the deceptive
- 1:46:02waters, blurring the lines between the sacred and the
- 1:46:06profane in a dance of otherworldly revelation.
- 1:46:12In the wake of these unexplainable events, Archbishop
- 1:46:15Miron found himself standing at the crossroads of disbelief and
- 1:46:21conviction. Is resolve tested by the
- 1:46:24inexplicable nature of Martha's responses?
- 1:46:28The intricate puzzle of her reactions to seemingly mundane
- 1:46:32stimuli raised questions that transcended the boundaries of
- 1:46:37the natural world, hinting at a presence that defied
- 1:46:40conventional explanation. As the Archbishop delved deeper
- 1:46:45into the labyrinth of Martha's eerie manifestations, a cold
- 1:46:50realization began to dawn upon him.
- 1:46:52The revelations, unearthed in the Crucible of faith and
- 1:46:55skepticism marked a watershed moment where the veil of alleged
- 1:47:00demonic possession was lifted to reveal a complex framework of
- 1:47:06human frailty or deception. The implications of this
- 1:47:11groundbreaking revelation resonated far beyond the
- 1:47:15confines of the Abbey, challenging the very fabric of
- 1:47:19beliefs that had held sway over the minds of the faithful for
- 1:47:24centuries. Despite the apparent conclusion
- 1:47:28and the suggestion that Martha Brogier might have been a mere
- 1:47:32fraud, a charlatan, or possibly not completely sound of mind,
- 1:47:38her case still continued to stir controversy.
- 1:47:43Numerous witnesses attested to witnessing her bizarre episodes
- 1:47:47first hand, insisting that her actions surpassed human
- 1:47:51capabilities, making it implausible for her to fabricate
- 1:47:56everything. Rozier herself maintained her
- 1:47:59assertion of being possessed and would ultimately persist in her
- 1:48:04tours and tell her death. Now before we go, the twists and
- 1:48:10turns of this case have churned up many questions.
- 1:48:14It's my conviction that this particular case could have
- 1:48:17influenced the Catholic Church all the way to the modern day,
- 1:48:21because nowadays a person must be examined by a doctor as well
- 1:48:26as a psychologist before an exorcism can even be considered.
- 1:48:31Could Martha's case have caused this?
- 1:48:34All around pretty interesting in my opinion.
- 1:48:37If the young woman was possessed, just how did this
- 1:48:41occur? Was she cursed, bewitched by
- 1:48:44someone else? Or was she herself dabbling with
- 1:48:48the dark arts? Despite her anguish and apparent
- 1:48:52pain, her family took her around like a travelling circus act and
- 1:48:57no doubt profited from the spectacle.
- 1:49:00This to me is obscene. If she indeed was under demonic
- 1:49:03influence, to think that her own flesh and blood could be so
- 1:49:08exploitative, it's just heartbreaking.
- 1:49:12Unless she was in on it after word got out and she was
- 1:49:16properly exercised on the King's orders, just how or why would
- 1:49:22she show aversion to non holy relics such as the piece of wood
- 1:49:26resembling the True Cross or the non blessed water?
- 1:49:31And lastly, if she was seemingly freed during this event, why did
- 1:49:36she then return to touring as the possessed woman after the
- 1:49:40debacle? To me, this makes me question
- 1:49:43whether she was a charlatan or a fake, or perhaps someone who was
- 1:49:48very mentally disturbed or sick with some kind of illness that
- 1:49:53was unknown to physicians at the time.
- 1:49:55Or if she. Was truly possessed in
- 1:49:58possession. Like most paranormal things we
- 1:50:02can never fully grasp the truth is up to you to decide.
- 1:50:07Was the devil in the darkness or was he unmasked to reveal a very
- 1:50:13clever woman just trying to make a living through strange means?
- 1:50:20Can a toy be haunted, let alone cause harm to anyone who comes
- 1:50:25into contact with it or views its image with seemingly unknown
- 1:50:31origins but possessing an energy that radiates pure evil?
- 1:50:36The item, specifically the doll that we will be discussing
- 1:50:39today, is rumoured to be able to not only affect people who come
- 1:50:44into contact with it in the flesh, but to even have the
- 1:50:47ability to reach you through the screens of your device.
- 1:50:52So if this is something you fear, a risk you potentially
- 1:50:56don't want to take, then I highly suggest you find another.

- 1:52:24ensnared the collective curiosity of the public.
- 1:52:28Believed to be in a perpetual state of unrest, it has
- 1:52:32captivated the minds of many since its initial discovery.
- 1:52:36Now nine years ago, the true origin of Peggy is unknown, but
- 1:52:41the world became aware of its existence in 2015.
- 1:52:46This very year, a woman who wishes for her identity to
- 1:52:50remain anonymous have been out at a local garage sale in her
- 1:52:54area in search of something cool to take home at a fair price.
- 1:52:59As she perused the various bins sat upon tables seeing if
- 1:53:03anything interested her, out of the corner of her eye she
- 1:53:07spotted an adorable looking doll with blonde hair, beaded blue
- 1:53:12eyes and a small white dress adorning her.
- 1:53:16Feeling some kind of pull towards the doll and feeling as
- 1:53:19if she would enjoy the presence of a new companion, she quickly
- 1:53:23purchased the toy that in due time she would start.
- 1:53:26Calling Peggy. But almost as soon as Peggy
- 1:53:29entered her life and was placed inside of her home, strange
- 1:53:34things began to happen. The woman began to have
- 1:53:37horrendous nightmares every single night, ones that were so
- 1:53:42bad that when she woke up, she'd be laying in a pool of her own
- 1:53:46sweat, unable to catch her breath.
- 1:53:50Day after day, the increasingly ominous, empty gaze of Peggy
- 1:53:54stared into her. Soul.
- 1:53:56Slowly but surely increasing her anxiety and night after night
- 1:54:03these horrendous nightmares would continue to induce terror.
- 1:54:08In a short period of time, the persistent force made the air so
- 1:54:12thick that you could cut it with a knife.
- 1:54:16Roughly 3 weeks upon the purchase of the doll and the.
- 1:54:19Start of the. Nightmares.
- 1:54:21The woman dreaded inevitably falling asleep each night.
- 1:54:26She had also come to the personal conclusion that
- 1:54:29something was indeed very wrong with Peggy.
- 1:54:32Each night in her nightmares she was being pursued by some kind
- 1:54:37of entity that for the longest time she was unable to see.
- 1:54:43And yet, each night's sleep would mirror the last, and each
- 1:54:46one the story seemed to progress.
- 1:54:50Upon drifting off into dreamland, she would find
- 1:54:53herself back in the same terrifying circumstances in
- 1:54:57which she had been in previously, and what she saw was
- 1:55:01truly disturbing. Slowly, the entity that pursued
- 1:55:05her, which at first was masked by darkness, began to reveal
- 1:55:10itself. It formed a figure, the figure
- 1:55:15of a doll, and over time the doll began to become a hideous
- 1:55:20amalgamation between that of a doll and an old woman.
- 1:55:25A grotesque monstrosity, one that would leave her shaking in
- 1:55:29utter distress. This shook this poor lady to her
- 1:55:33core, especially since she had never experienced anything like
- 1:55:37this before. Believing this to be a
- 1:55:40manifestation of evil, she tried various methods to quell the
- 1:55:44abyss that seemed to take such great interest in her.
- 1:55:48After Peggy entered her life, she tried moving the doll to
- 1:55:51various spots within her home, but that didn't seem to work.
- 1:55:56She consulted 2 priests at two different churches, both of
- 1:56:00which whose blessings didn't seem to work.
- 1:56:04If anything, it seemed to make the circumstances so much worse.
- 1:56:09Peggy began to move around on her own and in conjunction with
- 1:56:13this she began breaking multiple items within the home as well.
- 1:56:17She finally out of desperation moved Peggy into her shed,
- 1:56:21hoping that with the doll being outside of the home that her
- 1:56:24torment would cease. This however failed and if
- 1:56:30anything seemed to anger whatever entity was present,
- 1:56:35seemingly exhausting all known options at the time and out of
- 1:56:39desperation and hours of research, she found and emailed
- 1:56:43someone who she believed would be equipped to help her and or
- 1:56:47figure out just what was taking place.
- 1:56:50A renowned British paranormal investigator, a woman by the
- 1:56:54name of Jane Harris who ran the organization Haunted Dolls.
- 1:56:59After a brief correspondence, Harris agreed to accept Peggy
- 1:57:03the doll, so it was placed in the post and mailed to her.
- 1:57:08But as the doll made its long journey to Harris's residence,
- 1:57:12little did she know that she too would become one of the entity's
- 1:57:16victims. The doll would arrive in a tan
- 1:57:20box upon Harris's doorstep roughly 3 weeks later when she
- 1:57:25brought the box inside of her home as soon as her foot crossed
- 1:57:28the threshold, she would later say that it was as if the whole
- 1:57:32energy seemed to shift within her house.
- 1:57:35As she unboxed the toy and presented it to the first rays
- 1:57:38of light it had seen in nearly a month, she almost immediately
- 1:57:42began the induction process. She set aside a space for Peggy
- 1:57:47and attempted to establish a baseline to see if anything
- 1:57:50abnormal seemed to be coming from the doll.
- 1:57:53Placing her within a glass stand, her and several of her
- 1:57:56colleagues began to set up night vision cameras, digital cameras,
- 1:58:01and motion detectors. After this was done, they
- 1:58:05examined it with an EMF meter, but nothing at first seemed to
- 1:58:09be odd about the doll other than the feeling Harris had upon
- 1:58:13bringing it into her home. They left the doll for an
- 1:58:16overnight examination to see if any of their cameras or motion
- 1:58:20detectors picked up on anything, but after the first night they
- 1:58:24would discover nothing. Despite the lack of findings,
- 1:58:28the team's protocol would dictate that the next step would
- 1:58:31be to bring in several mediums to try and see if they felt
- 1:58:35anything in regards to the object.
- 1:58:38This, however, takes time and schedule, so in the meantime it
- 1:58:42would have to essentially sit on the back burner.
- 1:58:45It was now November of 2015, In approximately 6 weeks after
- 1:58:50Peggy the doll had arrived on the doorsteps of Jane Harris,
- 1:58:54Strangely, almost out of the blue because she wasn't known to
- 1:58:59have issues like these before, Jane was suddenly hit with an
- 1:59:02unyielding, debilitating fatigue.
- 1:59:06Barely able to move, she remained bedridden for roughly 2
- 1:59:10weeks and that's when her body began to be wracked with
- 1:59:13horrible migraines accompanied with nausea.
- 1:59:17This would cause her to not only put a pause on her normal
- 1:59:20paranormal works, but she was also unable to care for her two
- 1:59:24young children. Despite getting 8 to 9 hours of
- 1:59:28solid sleep at night plus naps due to the exhaustion and
- 1:59:32suffering for several weeks, Harris's condition was not
- 1:59:36improving. 3 doctors had ran all sorts of tests and yet nothing
- 1:59:41was coming back. Abnormal blood tests ruled out
- 1:59:44thyroid issues. She had no signs of anemia or
- 1:59:48any other kind of illness for that matter.
- 1:59:51Left with no other explanation, Jane had to consider the
- 1:59:54possibility, since it was the only factor that had recently
- 1:59:58changed in her life, that perhaps her ailed state.
- 2:00:02Was a result of the presence. Of Peggy the doll wanting an
- 2:00:07outside opinion, she decided to contact a friend and clairvoyant
- 2:00:12whom she had worked with on other cases, a medium named
- 2:00:16Patricia Redman. On November 13th, roughly a week
- 2:00:20after being asked, Patricia would agree to take.
- 2:00:24And examine Peggy. And for the first time in over a
- 2:00:27month, Jane. Slowly but surely.
- 2:00:30Began to feel better. She wasn't drained of energy,
- 2:00:33her constant migraines and nausea were gone, and her skin,
- 2:00:38which had taken quite the Gray tone since she had fallen I'll
- 2:00:41began to go back to normal. Redmond would have the doll for
- 2:00:45approximately 3 weeks and agreed to return it to Harris, but not
- 2:00:50before casting a spell of protection upon it in hopes that
- 2:00:53if the doll was affecting her that it would no longer bother
- 2:00:57her during her studies. Her conclusion, and strangely
- 2:01:02what would become the conclusion of three other sidekicks over
- 2:01:05the course of the investigation, was that Peggy contained the
- 2:01:08spirit of a woman from London, England.
- 2:01:12It is thought that she is possessed by the spirit of a
- 2:01:15woman born in 1946 and London's Holland Park who died of a chest
- 2:01:20related condition, possibly an asthma attack.
- 2:01:24The readings would further uncover that the woman was
- 2:01:27persecuted and had a very hard life, that she disliked clowns
- 2:01:32and cats, and that she died horribly and alone of
- 2:01:37asphyxiation, cold and by herself.
- 2:01:41Could this perhaps be why she was so angry and death?
- 2:01:45And why did she inhabit the doll to begin with?
- 2:01:48These. Questions perhaps will never be
- 2:01:50answered or have yet to be uncovered.
- 2:01:54During the course of the investigation through her social
- 2:01:57media for haunted dolls, Jane began to post updates regarding
- 2:02:01Peggy the doll, as she would with any of the items or other
- 2:02:04objects the group would be involved with.
- 2:02:08The photos and videos of Peggy began to draw visceral reactions
- 2:02:12from those who viewed them in conjunction with strange
- 2:02:15manifestations of the paranormal.
- 2:02:19And not just a handful of people.
- 2:02:20Over the years, hundreds have poured in, leading most to
- 2:02:24believe that there has to be some kind of correlation.
- 2:02:27These experiences people have had range from horrible
- 2:02:31headaches, anxiety and nausea to shortness of breath, abnormal
- 2:02:37heartbeat and more. With others their computers
- 2:02:41freezing upon the image of Peggy, light bulbs exploding,
- 2:02:45and in one instance a candle falling over and causing a small
- 2:02:49fire. These are just some of the
- 2:02:52comments that have been said upon viewing the images and
- 2:02:56videos. Upon viewing the doll I had a
- 2:02:59full blown asthma attack which hasn't occurred in almost a
- 2:03:02decade. Are tromans.
- 2:03:05I've had a migraine and palpitation since seeing your
- 2:03:08doll. Please contact me.
- 2:03:11Jay Claire, this is so strange. Can dogs and cats since evil?
- 2:03:17Since I opened the photo of that doll, my little terrier Molly
- 2:03:22has been snarling and growling at the screen.
- 2:03:25I'm a bit freaked out. Jay Carlton, One woman, upon
- 2:03:29viewing an image of Peggy, had a dream that some kind of figure
- 2:03:33was chasing her cat and eventually caught it as it was
- 2:03:37running up to her door. Upon waking up and going to
- 2:03:41check on her beloved pet after not finding it within her home,
- 2:03:45she checked her front door and found the cat no longer alive.
- 2:03:49It was if it had been mauled. Eventually, the doll would find
- 2:03:54a new home at the Haunted Museum, owned by controversial
- 2:03:58paranormal investigator Zach Pagans.
- 2:04:01He or she resides in her own space in a glass display where
- 2:04:05people continue to experience strange feelings and occurrences
- 2:04:10as a result of being within her presence.
- 2:04:14But before we go, this case to me poses several questions which
- 2:04:18I'd like to address. First of which, if we take
- 2:04:21things at face value, if Peggy was possessed.
- 2:04:25Why would the Spirit choose? To inhabit a doll and then also
- 2:04:28cause so much torment. I found that if a spirit is
- 2:04:32restless and angry in life then odds are they become lost souls
- 2:04:36when they die. They may seek something to
- 2:04:39inhabit that would allow them to gain access to people and or
- 2:04:43their homes to which they can take out their frustration just
- 2:04:47like people which they were. If they're evil or angry in
- 2:04:51life, odds are they will be in death as well.
- 2:04:55Were the nightmares the result of an overactive imagination?
- 2:04:59It is pretty well known that some entities like to infiltrate
- 2:05:02dreams. Why this is a thing this
- 2:05:04uncertain? Perhaps to cause distress in
- 2:05:07which they can feed upon. And what about the physical
- 2:05:10ailments? This perhaps could have been a
- 2:05:12coincidence if it hadn't affected so many people over the
- 2:05:16years, or so they claim. The odds that.
- 2:05:19So many people would express physical issues or strange
- 2:05:23manifestations as a result of seeing or being in contact with
- 2:05:27the doll is indeed odd. And lastly, was it even a human
- 2:05:31spirit inhabiting the vessel at all?
- 2:05:34Or perhaps something inhuman? These questions and more of
- 2:05:37course, will likely never be able to answer, which leaves
- 2:05:41this case shrouded and yet more mystery.
- 2:05:44So if you find yourself being pulled towards a particular
- 2:05:47item, unless you are vastly experienced, you may want to
- 2:05:51give its allure a second thought.
- 2:05:53Because this calling could potentially open up a
- 2:05:57nightmarish world of torment, harassment, and terror.
- 2:06:02During the 1980s, Houston, TX, a city brimming with vibrancy,
- 2:06:08experienced a substantial increase in its population as
- 2:06:12new residents eagerly migrated to the region.
- 2:06:16To meet the demand generated by this population boom, there was
- 2:06:20a widespread construction effort focused on creating housing
- 2:06:24subdivisions in the areas surrounding the city.
- 2:06:27Among these newly minted neighborhoods stood the
- 2:06:30prestigious Newport subdivision, nestled on the fringes of
- 2:06:34Houston and Crosby, TX. This distinguished community
- 2:06:38radiated elegance and refinement, showcasing splendid
- 2:06:43new homes and Florida State groomed lawns, epitomizing the
- 2:06:48ultimate American Dream and all of its glory.
- 2:06:52However, hidden beneath the gleaming exterior of this
- 2:06:56prosperous sanctuary of peaceful suburban life, mysterious
- 2:07:01secrets and intense supernatural forces were quietly at play.
- 2:07:07This is the untold story of the Haunting of Black Hope Cemetery.

- 2:07:39Mystery Archives. Among the earliest settlers in
- 2:07:51the just developed Newport subdivision were Sam and Judith
- 2:07:55Haney, who in 1982 claimed their dream residence.
- 2:08:02Initially, their joy knew no bounds, for they had acquired
- 2:08:06the home they had long envisioned for themselves,
- 2:08:10blissfully unaware of the dark secrets that lurked beneath its
- 2:08:14surface. However, their contentment began
- 2:08:18to unravel when they opted to add a swimming pool to their
- 2:08:21property. As the construction team set
- 2:08:24about the preliminary work for the pool, an unexpected and
- 2:08:29rather eerie visitation occurred.
- 2:08:32An aged gentleman, introducing himself as Jasper Norton,
- 2:08:37approached them with a bone chilling warning.
- 2:08:41He insisted that beneath the very spot where they had planned
- 2:08:44to construct their pool lay hidden graves advising against
- 2:08:50the continuation. Of their project.
- 2:08:53Reflecting on this peculiar and unsettling encounter, Sam Haney
- 2:08:58recounted one day an elderly gentleman approached me, noting
- 2:09:03that he had seen us planning to install a swimming pool in our
- 2:09:06backyard. He mentioned that there was
- 2:09:09something important about our backyard that I needed to know.
- 2:09:12Curious, I followed him around back where he pointed to the
- 2:09:16ground and ominously announced that there were some graves
- 2:09:20beneath us. He even went as far to mark the
- 2:09:24exact location of these alleged graves.
- 2:09:27I didn't know what to make of this information.
- 2:09:30The possibility that he was making up this story crossed my
- 2:09:33mind, but I was as puzzled to why anyone would invent such a
- 2:09:37disturbing tale. Norton proceeded to share a
- 2:09:40haunting revelation. He personally had buried the
- 2:09:43bodies at that very location during his teenage years.
- 2:09:48He divulged to the Haneys, who were oblivious to the fact that
- 2:09:53their land, their subdivision, stood on what used to be a
- 2:09:58cemetery primarily for African American former slaves.
- 2:10:04This burial ground was known as Black Hope Cemetery, with its
- 2:10:09final Interment dating back to 1939.
- 2:10:13Norton claimed there remained no fewer than 60 indingent graves
- 2:10:17scattered across the vicinity over which the housing
- 2:10:21subdivision was constructed. The developers, in their haste,
- 2:10:27had built directly atop the old cemetery, neglecting to relocate
- 2:10:32the bodies, effectively erasing any trace of the cemetery's
- 2:10:37existence under layers of new construction and collective
- 2:10:42amnesia. Despite the eerie nature of
- 2:10:45Norton's tale, it barely shook Haney's skepticism towards these
- 2:10:50ghostly narratives. However, driven by a blend of
- 2:10:54curiosity and a need for certainty, Haney took it upon
- 2:10:58himself to verify Norton's claims.
- 2:11:01Armed with a shovel, he began to excavate the area Norton had
- 2:11:05marked, Soon to discover that the chilling stories were rooted
- 2:11:12in a grim reality far surpassing mere folklore.
- 2:11:18As Haney began digging, his shovel struck an unexpected
- 2:11:22wooden resistance beneath the earth.
- 2:11:24It wasn't long before he and his wife uncovered 2 antiquated
- 2:11:28wooden coffins cradling the skeletal remains of individuals
- 2:11:35long past. One of whom was adorned with two
- 2:11:39wedding bands, silently narrating a tale of eternal
- 2:11:43union, even in death. The discovery prompted an urgent
- 2:11:48call to the authorities, who, after delving into historical
- 2:11:52records, unveiled that the unearthed remains were those of
- 2:11:57Betty and Charles Thomas, two individuals who had lived their
- 2:12:01lives as freed slaves, their earthly journeys concluding in
- 2:12:06the 1930s. The revelation that they had
- 2:12:10inadvertently disturbed these resting souls left the couple
- 2:12:13deeply unsettled, prompting them to tenderly re enter the remains
- 2:12:19in their original resting places.
- 2:12:22However, unbeknownst to them and the Marriott of families who had
- 2:12:27made their homes in the seemingly serene locale, this
- 2:12:31act would unfurl the crew to a series of Erie unexplained
- 2:12:36occurrences ensnaring the entire subdivision and a web of
- 2:12:41spectral happenings. The strange occurrences for the
- 2:12:45Haney family commenced shortly after they had respectfully
- 2:12:49reburied 2 unearthed bodies. Judith Haney experienced a
- 2:12:54peculiar incident when she observed their wall clock
- 2:12:58emitting a blue glow and producing unusual sparks.
- 2:13:03The situation made even more bizarre upon discovering that it
- 2:13:08had been disconnected from its power source.
- 2:13:11Following this, Judith encountered additional eerie
- 2:13:15phenomena, such as an unsettling feeling of being watched and the
- 2:13:20sound of the sliding door opening and shutting when she
- 2:13:24was certain that she was alone in the house.
- 2:13:27In another bewildering event, Judith saw her red shoes from
- 2:13:31the closet, only to find them missing.
- 2:13:35Despite an exhaustive search by the couple, the shoes were
- 2:13:39eventually located in the most unexpected blaze imaginable,
- 2:13:44resting atop the graves they had recently disturbed.
- 2:13:49Adding to the eeriness, they would later ascertain that the
- 2:13:53day coincided with Betty Thomas's birthday.
- 2:13:57Sam shared his reflections on the odd occurrence.
- 2:14:01Struggling to believe what was happening, I went through every
- 2:14:05spot. She usually kept her things, but
- 2:14:08the shoes were nowhere to be found.
- 2:14:11It was only when we got away from the graves that I noticed
- 2:14:14something on top of the grave. The shoes were neatly placed
- 2:14:18next to one another, almost as if someone had intentionally
- 2:14:22carried them over. This gave me a strong feeling
- 2:14:25that this was some kind of message or symbolic act.
- 2:14:30It felt like in a very mystical way, Charlie was giving Betty a
- 2:14:34birthday present. I thought that stayed with me
- 2:14:38for its unique kind of sweetness.
- 2:14:41During this time, the phenomenon wasn't limited to the Haney
- 2:14:44family. It had begun to permeate
- 2:14:47throughout the neighborhood, touching the lives of other
- 2:14:50residents as well. Among them were Ben and Gene
- 2:14:54Williams, a couple residing nearby who found themselves
- 2:15:00embroiled in their own unsettling mystery.
- 2:15:04They observed a perplexing and continuous demise of the flowers
- 2:15:08in their garden, which withered away inexplicably, immune to any
- 2:15:14efforts of revival. Adding to the mystery, their
- 2:15:19property became the site of coffin shaped sinkholes that,
- 2:15:23despite numerous attempts to fill them, would ominously re
- 2:15:27emerge as if refusing to be erased.
- 2:15:33Their home turned into a hotbed for a spectrum of terrifying
- 2:15:38occurrences, leaving a tapestry of the paranormal that was both
- 2:15:43intriguing and unnerving. The ambience of their household
- 2:15:48was occasionally sliced by inexplicable cold drafts,
- 2:15:53chilling to the bone even on the warmest of summer days, creating
- 2:15:58a stark contrast to the outside world.
- 2:16:02Plumbing fixtures seemed to develop a life of their own,
- 2:16:06with faucets and toilets operating independently of human
- 2:16:11intervention. The silence of their home was
- 2:16:15often broken by the sound of footsteps echoing through the
- 2:16:19corridors. Absent of any physical presence
- 2:16:23to account for them, doors would swing open and slam shut,
- 2:16:29untouched by human hands, while ethereal shadowy figures darted
- 2:16:35out of the corner of their eyes only to vanish one face
- 2:16:39directly. The air was occasionally filled
- 2:16:43with the murmur, disembodied voices whispering secrets from
- 2:16:48beyond, and on occasion, a foul, unexplainable.
- 2:16:53Stench. As mysteriously as it had
- 2:16:56appeared, all these phenomena culminated in a pervasive
- 2:17:01atmosphere of dread and. Unease.
- 2:17:03That hung over their home like a dense fog, a constant reminder
- 2:17:08of the unseen and unfathomable forces at play.
- 2:17:13Jean later expressed her firm. Belief.
- 2:17:15In the connection between their experiences.
- 2:17:18And the. Historical backdrop of their
- 2:17:20home stating that I absolutely believe that all of these things
- 2:17:25happened to us. Because we were.
- 2:17:27On that graveyard and that we were simply going to be
- 2:17:30tormented until we left, the possibility of relocating was a
- 2:17:35topic of conversation. Yet the.
- 2:17:38Financial. Constraint of affording a new
- 2:17:40place tethered them to their current predicament, compelling
- 2:17:44them to endure and seek solutions amidst the growing
- 2:17:48displeasure of the entities haunting them.
- 2:17:52As the intensity and malevolence of the occurrences escalated,
- 2:17:57Ben Williams recounted one particularly harrowing episode
- 2:18:01with vivid detail. Returning home well past
- 2:18:05midnight from my shift, I made a bee line for the.
- 2:18:08Kitchen. Craving a late night snack The
- 2:18:11moment? I swung.
- 2:18:12The refrigerator door open, I was met with a startling sight
- 2:18:17of two spectral figures. They glided.
- 2:18:20Backward into the den. With an eerie grace before
- 2:18:24making. Their way to the hallway towards
- 2:18:26Jean. 'S room, one of them.
- 2:18:29Lingered menacingly close to the bed.
- 2:18:32Barely. More than a foot.
- 2:18:34Away, a protective instinct surged through me, driven by the
- 2:18:39thought they ain't messing with me and my wife.
- 2:18:43And with that, I charged through the apparition.
- 2:18:47A chilling, vicious cold seeped deep into my very bones as a
- 2:18:53result. Upon uncovering the unsettling
- 2:18:57truth that their property was established atop an old
- 2:19:01cemetery, the Williams family grew increasingly suspicious of
- 2:19:06an ancient oak tree in their backyard.
- 2:19:09This tree distinguished by its twisted form and bearing.
- 2:19:13Carvings. Of an arrow accompanied by
- 2:19:16several lines soon took on a sinister significance.
- 2:19:22Initially overlooked, these markings now seem to ominously
- 2:19:26suggest that the trees served as a marker for a grave.
- 2:19:31This revelation cast a shadow over their perception of their
- 2:19:35home, transforming the once innocuous tree into a symbol of
- 2:19:41the. Land's grim.
- 2:19:42History Compelled by a sense of injustice, the Williams's
- 2:19:48decided to. Take legal action.
- 2:19:49Against the developers of their housing estate, they accused the
- 2:19:54developers of egregiously admitting to inform them.
- 2:19:58That their. Dream Home was erected on what
- 2:20:01used to be a graveyard, however, their legal challenge hit a
- 2:20:05roadblock when they were informed.
- 2:20:08That their. Case would only hold water if
- 2:20:11they could conclusively prove the presence of graves on their
- 2:20:14property. Undeterred, Ben, alongside his
- 2:20:18wife and their daughter Tina, embarked on a mission to
- 2:20:22excavate the area surrounding the foreboding oak tree.
- 2:20:27They were driven by a firm belief that they would uncover
- 2:20:30human remains, thereby substantiating their claims.
- 2:20:35However, as they dug deeper, both Jean and Tina were suddenly
- 2:20:40afflicted by a mysterious illness, the cause of which
- 2:20:45eluded understanding the situation.
- 2:20:48Took a dire. Turn when Tina was rushed to the
- 2:20:51hospital only to succumb to a severe heart attack, convinced.
- 2:20:57That these. Tragic events were the cause of
- 2:20:59malevolent forces. Linked to the desecrated.
- 2:21:02Burial Ground The Williams family made the difficult
- 2:21:07decision to leave behind their haunted home.
- 2:21:11Seeking solace and a fresh start, they relocated to
- 2:21:16Montana, but the memories of their harrowing experiences
- 2:21:21lingered, compelling them to eventually return to Texas,
- 2:21:26where. They.
- 2:21:28Channelled their ordeal into a book.
- 2:21:31Titled The Black. Hope Horror, A detailed account
- 2:21:35of their supernatural encounters.
- 2:21:38Their story? Captured the public's
- 2:21:40imagination to such an extent that it was adapted into a film
- 2:21:45known as The Grave Secrets. Bringing their chilling
- 2:21:48experiences to a wider audience and immortalizing the haunting
- 2:21:54legacy of their former home, the Haney's decided to pursue legal
- 2:22:00recourse against the developers, seeking justice for their
- 2:22:04unsettling ordeal. Initially, their efforts
- 2:22:08appeared to bear fruit and they were granted a substantial
- 2:22:12financial compensation of $142,000.
- 2:22:17However, this moment of victory was short lived.
- 2:22:22In a surprising turn of events, the verdict was reversed after.
- 2:22:27A judge. Concluded that the developer was
- 2:22:29not at fault. Consequently, the Haney's found
- 2:22:33themselves burdened with a significant amount of legal
- 2:22:35expenses running into 10s of thousands of dollars.
- 2:22:41This financial strain. Left.
- 2:22:42Them with no choice other than to declare bankruptcy, devoid of
- 2:22:47any financial resources they were compelled to leave behind.
- 2:22:51The land. That had turned their
- 2:22:53aspirations into a harrowing nightmare.
- 2:22:58Their pursuit of the American Dream had tragically
- 2:23:01metamorphosized into a devastating ordeal, leaving them
- 2:23:06drained of their savings and facing a future filled with
- 2:23:10uncertainty. It appears that the series.
- 2:23:13Of. Peculiar events linked to this
- 2:23:15land didn't conclude here, however, despite reports from
- 2:23:19the current occupants of the Haney's previous residents
- 2:23:23indicate no unusual experiences. Tales of the bazaar continue to
- 2:23:29circulate among other households in the vicinity, and an
- 2:23:33intriguing account from a resident now living in what once
- 2:23:37was the. Williams Home.
- 2:23:39She describes an eerie incident involving a sound resembling
- 2:23:45that of a cougar emanating from outside her window.
- 2:23:50However, upon investigation, she found nothing that could explain
- 2:23:55the mysterious noise. Meanwhile, a few houses away,
- 2:24:01occupants have reported experiencing unexplained
- 2:24:04electrical anomalies, adding an element of the unordinary to
- 2:24:09their daily lives. Another neighbor has shared
- 2:24:13tales of doors slamming shut. Without any apparent.
- 2:24:17Cause such as drafts or wind and even recounting the feeling that
- 2:24:24seemed like an invisible hand. Had been.
- 2:24:26Resting on their shoulder and further adding to the collection
- 2:24:31of mystifying stories, Jan. Clark.
- 2:24:34The mother of one home's owner relayed her granddaughter's
- 2:24:39unsettling experiences. The young girl claimed to have
- 2:24:42seen a shadowy figure she referred to as the Brown Man in
- 2:24:48her room and recounted another peculiar incident, all of which
- 2:24:53contribute. To the ongoing.
- 2:24:55Mystery surrounding this neighborhood.
- 2:24:59Another time, I had gone to the restroom with my granddaughter,
- 2:25:02Taylor. She had run.
- 2:25:04Out leaving me in the restroom alone and something like a man's
- 2:25:09voice breathed really heavy and really close to me.
- 2:25:15I got out of there and quick and to this day I try.
- 2:25:20Not to go. Back in there and use that
- 2:25:22restroom anymore. There is something.
- 2:25:25To this, some people won't talk about it because they don't want
- 2:25:29to be considered crazy or they just don't care to know the
- 2:25:33truth. Another nearby family would also
- 2:25:37share their eerie experiences. Vinay Luna, who recounts
- 2:25:42multiple unexplained events in their home.
- 2:25:45Among these, she vividly remembers an incident where her
- 2:25:49husband's slippers leapt from his grip in an even more
- 2:25:54startling moment when their pet dog appeared to be suspended mid
- 2:25:58air. Moreover, the Nay reveals that
- 2:26:03her grandmother has encountered mysterious figures within the
- 2:26:06home. She elaborates on her
- 2:26:09grandmother's experiences by saying, my grandma consistently
- 2:26:13tells us about a shadowy man who visits her for reasons unknown.
- 2:26:19Then there are times she talks about children's presences, her
- 2:26:23room, which prevent her from getting any rest.
- 2:26:28Because of their continuous disturbances.
- 2:26:31In contrast, there are households in the area that
- 2:26:35report a complete. Absence of.
- 2:26:37Any peculiar activities presenting a stark difference to
- 2:26:41the accounts of paranormal encounters?
- 2:26:44And leaving the. Community puzzled over the true
- 2:26:47nature this phenomena. It's undeniable that this
- 2:26:51location was once a cemetery, a fact overlooked or even ignored
- 2:26:57by the developers. When they transformed it.
- 2:27:00Into a residential area and this raises several critical
- 2:27:04questions. Could the ghostly occurrences
- 2:27:07reported by the residents be a direct consequence of the
- 2:27:12disturbed spirits due to the desecration of their final
- 2:27:16resting places? Is it possible that these souls
- 2:27:20are expressing their unrest? Or even anger.
- 2:27:24Towards the violation of their graves, the true 'cause remains
- 2:27:29shrouded in enigma, yet it underscores.
- 2:27:32A. Crucial consideration for future
- 2:27:34developments the importance of respecting burial grounds by
- 2:27:39ensuring the proper relocation of remains before proceeding
- 2:27:44with construction. This principle not only honors
- 2:27:48those who have passed, but also may prevent the unfolding of
- 2:27:54such mysterious. And.
- 2:27:56Unsettling events in the serene suburb of Seaford, NY the.
- 2:28:03Hermann family's dreamy life. Is upended as their ordinary
- 2:28:07home becomes the epicenter of an extraordinary poltergeist
- 2:28:12phenomenon. With no prior history of
- 2:28:15hauntings or misfortune. Their residence suddenly erupts
- 2:28:20with unexplained activities, bottles popping open, objects
- 2:28:25moving on their own in an eerie sense of an unseen presence.
- 2:28:31Despite skepticism and attempts to find rational explanations,
- 2:28:36the events transcend understanding, drawing the
- 2:28:39attention of paranormal experts, the media, and a curious public.
- 2:28:45This is the untold story of Popper, the poltergeist of New
- 2:28:50York. Tucked away in the peaceful
- 2:29:02surroundings of Long Island is Seaford, NY.
- 2:29:06A place of subtle beauty and calm where the 1950s depicted an
- 2:29:12image of suburban peace. It was in this heavenly setting
- 2:29:17that James Herman created a tranquil life with his wife
- 2:29:22Lucille and their two children, Lucille, aged 13, and James, a
- 2:29:28year younger, at 12. Their home, a simple ranch
- 2:29:33painted in shades of white and green, served as a symbol of the
- 2:29:36typical American dream. With three bedrooms, a small
- 2:29:41kitchen and straightforward simplicity, there was little to
- 2:29:46indicate it was any different from the other homes and the
- 2:29:49charming neighborhood, all of which were graced with the
- 2:29:54picturesque allure of tree lined streets.
- 2:29:57Yen Beneath the surface of normality, a sense of mystery
- 2:30:02persisted. The Hermann residence, with no
- 2:30:05dark history or stories of bad luck, was for some reason on the
- 2:30:11brink of becoming the center. Of a paranormal.
- 2:30:15Happening, This unassuming house against the calm backdrop of
- 2:30:19Seaford streets was about to inscribe its name in the halls
- 2:30:23of the supernatural. For unknown reasons, it was
- 2:30:27faded to be the site of a poltergeist phenomena, one that
- 2:30:31was so distinctive and captivating that its tail would
- 2:30:35be forever intertwined with the paranormal realm, casting a veil
- 2:30:39of fascination over the once peaceful existence of the
- 2:30:44Hermann family. And seemingly out of the blue,
- 2:30:48things began to happen on February the third of 1958.
- 2:30:53Until this point, the Hermann family had not encountered
- 2:30:56anything out of the ordinary within their home.
- 2:31:00However, on this day, while Lucille was in the kitchen
- 2:31:04accompanied. By her two.
- 2:31:05Children, an uncanny phenomenon, folded before their very eyes.
- 2:31:10Bottles scattered throughout their kitchen without any
- 2:31:14apparent cause, began to spontaneously unseal themselves.
- 2:31:19The caps were forcibly ejected, resulting in their contents
- 2:31:24erupting and spring across the room, each bottle cap producing
- 2:31:29a distinct and resounding pop as it flew.
- 2:31:32Off. Some of the bottles allegedly
- 2:31:36engaged in an eerie dance, moving about with no visible
- 2:31:41support, a sight that understandably terrified them
- 2:31:45all. When James Herman walked through
- 2:31:47the door of his home, he was immediately confronted with a
- 2:31:51confounding narrative of the day's events.
- 2:31:54Carrying a deep seated skepticism, James entertained
- 2:31:58the possibility that the curious happenings might be the result
- 2:32:02of natural environmental fluctuations, perhaps a
- 2:32:05significant rise in humidity levels, or an unforeseen
- 2:32:09chemical reaction within the confines of the bottles
- 2:32:12themselves. Such hypotheses briefly offered
- 2:32:15a comforting veil of normalcy over the situation, yet the
- 2:32:20semblance of explanation rapidly disintegrated as the full scope
- 2:32:26of the phenomena revealed itself to be far reaching,
- 2:32:30indiscriminately affecting almost every container in the.
- 2:32:33Kitchen. Notably even bottles secured
- 2:32:37with screw on caps, which under normal circumstances.
- 2:32:40Would. Require human intervention to
- 2:32:42open had mysteriously unscrewed themselves.
- 2:32:46The entire scene defied logic, standing in stark contrast to
- 2:32:51the mundane reality James had expected to return to a mere two
- 2:32:56days after this bewildering introduction.
- 2:32:59The bizarre occurrences not only persisted but escalated, casting
- 2:33:04a wider net over the household's collection of containers.
- 2:33:09This time, the activity was not limited to the kitchen or to a
- 2:33:13specific. Type of.
- 2:33:14Bottle jars of all sizes. Bottles.
- 2:33:18Brimming with a variety of household liquids such as
- 2:33:21shampoo, bleach, and even luxurious perfumes alongside
- 2:33:27tubes of toothpaste began to manifest the same inexplicable
- 2:33:31behavior that had initially perplexed the Hermann family.
- 2:33:35Each container, as if acting on an unseen cue, would suddenly.
- 2:33:40And. Violently burst open.
- 2:33:43Their contents, once neatly contained, were now subjects of
- 2:33:47an uncontrollable frenzy, spilling, spraying and
- 2:33:52splattering across the room without any apparent trigger or
- 2:33:57discernible pattern. The randomness of the incidents
- 2:34:00only deepened the mystery, as did the diversity of the
- 2:34:04containers involved. Glass and plastic bottles alike,
- 2:34:09regardless of their contents, viscosity or the containers
- 2:34:13design, we're equally susceptible to this unseen
- 2:34:17force. The phenomena seemed to mock.
- 2:34:20The. Very laws of physics, with caps
- 2:34:23and lids that should have remained securely fastened,
- 2:34:26instead becoming agents of chaos.
- 2:34:29The scene within the Hermann household transformed from one
- 2:34:33of domestic tranquility to a bewildering spectacle of
- 2:34:37uncontrolled disarray, leaving the family and eventually the
- 2:34:42wider community grappling for explanations in the face of such
- 2:34:47unfathomable occurrences. As time went on, the mysterious
- 2:34:52events escalated in intensity, Co founding the Hermann family
- 2:34:56and leaving the wider community searching for logical reasons.
- 2:35:00These occurrences baffled all attempts at rational
- 2:35:04explanation, with comprehensive investigations yielding no
- 2:35:08satisfactory scientific or environmental understanding.
- 2:35:13This sequence of bewildering events signaled the start of an
- 2:35:17exceptionally captivating and perplexing episode in the realm
- 2:35:21of paranormal mysteries, positioning the Hermann
- 2:35:24household at the heart of it all.
- 2:35:27James Hermann, as mentioned before, was inherently skeptical
- 2:35:32by nature, always seeking a logical explanation for the
- 2:35:35unexplained. He was not one to hastily
- 2:35:38attribute events to paranormal activities.
- 2:35:41When the peculiar happenings first began to unfold within
- 2:35:45their household, his mind gravitated towards a more
- 2:35:48earthly explanation. He pondered whether his son
- 2:35:51Jimmy, with a youthful penchant for mischief, might have devised
- 2:35:56an elaborate prank, potentially using carbonated capsules or
- 2:36:01some other mechanism to cause the bottles to spontaneously
- 2:36:04erupt. With this theory in mind, James
- 2:36:08embarked on a discreet observation of Jimmy,
- 2:36:11scrutinizing his every move in search of any hint of evidence.
- 2:36:15That might link. Him to the strange occurrences.
- 2:36:18However, despite his vigilant watch over the boy, James
- 2:36:22uncovered not a shred of evidence implicating Jimmy and
- 2:36:26the bizarre events. Meanwhile, the mystery within
- 2:36:30the Hermann household deepened the phenomena.
- 2:36:33Escalated. In intensity and variety,
- 2:36:36transcending beyond mere bottles, it seemed as though
- 2:36:40every manner of container within their home was.
- 2:36:43Susceptible to this force. Bottles of all types would burst
- 2:36:47open without. Warning their contents propelled
- 2:36:50across. The room in the chaotic display,
- 2:36:54each eruption accompanied by a distinct crisp popping sound
- 2:36:59that had become all too familiar to the now bewildered family.
- 2:37:04However, the disconcerting phenomena within the Hermann
- 2:37:07home extended beyond. The.
- 2:37:09Peculiar antics of their containers.
- 2:37:11The family began to observe a bewildering array of household
- 2:37:15items seemingly taking on a life of their own, as if manipulated
- 2:37:20by something they couldn't see. Toys and books, Even larger
- 2:37:25pieces of furniture began to exhibit this kind of strange
- 2:37:29behavior. Chairs that have been stationary
- 2:37:32for years suddenly skidded across the floor.
- 2:37:36Tables tilted without warning, spilling their contents, and
- 2:37:40doors slammed shut with no one near them.
- 2:37:44Among the smaller objects, dolls were found in different rooms
- 2:37:49from where they had been left, as though they had moved by
- 2:37:52their own accord. Books would not only fall from
- 2:37:56shelves, but sometimes would. Fly across the room.
- 2:38:01As if thrown by something or someone, picture frames that had
- 2:38:06hung peacefully on walls for years would suddenly crash to
- 2:38:09the floor in the middle of the night, their glass shattering
- 2:38:14again without any discernible cause.
- 2:38:17The velocity which these objects moved was astonishing on
- 2:38:21several. Occasions.
- 2:38:23Toys rocketed from one end of the room to the other, often
- 2:38:27narrowly missing family members as they passed.
- 2:38:30Furniture that required the strength of two adults to move
- 2:38:33would slide or even lift and then crash back down with
- 2:38:38significant force, leaving indents in the hardwood floors
- 2:38:42or marks on the walls. The impact of these movements
- 2:38:46was so intense that it not only caused physical.
- 2:38:49Damage to the. Structure of the home but also
- 2:38:52left emotional scars on the family who were increasingly
- 2:38:56frightened by these occurrences. This escalation of activity
- 2:39:00heightened the atmosphere of tension in disbelief within the
- 2:39:04household. The Hermans, already struggling
- 2:39:07to comprehend the mysterious behavior of the containers, were
- 2:39:12now faced with a broader, more intense range of disturbances.
- 2:39:16These events seem to defy all logic, suggesting that the
- 2:39:21presence of an invisible hand was guiding the chaos.
- 2:39:26The force and precision in which these items moved suggested
- 2:39:30something. More than a mere.
- 2:39:31Coincidence or natural forces being at play, instilling a deep
- 2:39:36sense of unease and apprehension among the family members.
- 2:39:40As. They pondered the source and
- 2:39:42intent behind these manifestations.
- 2:39:46James, still clinging to a sliver of doubt about the
- 2:39:49paranormal nature of these events, decided to confront
- 2:39:53Jimmy directly, hoping to glean some confession or explanation
- 2:39:58from him. However, Jimmy vehemently denied
- 2:40:02any involvement. It was during this tense
- 2:40:05confrontation that an incident occurred which shook James's
- 2:40:09skepticism to its core. Mid conversation, a bottle that
- 2:40:14had been sitting idle on the shelf began to tremble before
- 2:40:19gliding across the surface. And then?
- 2:40:23With the now familiar popping sound, its cap flew off right
- 2:40:27before their eyes. This event witnessed first hand
- 2:40:31by both James and Jimmy. Served as a Stark.
- 2:40:34Indication that the situation was far more complex and
- 2:40:39inexplicable than James had originally conceived.
- 2:40:43It was a moment that marked a turning point, compelling James
- 2:40:47to reconsider. His.
- 2:40:48Stance on the possibility of paranormal involvement and the
- 2:40:53disturbances that have been plaguing their home.
- 2:40:57Perplexed by this point and desperate for answers, James
- 2:41:01reached out. To the local.
- 2:41:02Police Department His call was met with skepticism, yet the
- 2:41:07gravity of his plea convinced them to dispatch an investigator
- 2:41:10to the scene. The officer assigned to the case
- 2:41:14was James Hughes, a man known for his pragmatic approach and
- 2:41:19skeptical outlook on anything that veered into the realm of
- 2:41:22the supernatural. Upon entering the Hermann
- 2:41:26residence, Hughes's skepticism was put.
- 2:41:29To an immediate. Test as he witnessed an
- 2:41:32extraordinary spectacle himself. Bottles not only popped but
- 2:41:37exploded as if charged with an unknown energy source,
- 2:41:42propelling shards of glass across the room like shrapnel
- 2:41:46hues. Those shaken documented these
- 2:41:50occurrences meticulously, marking the beginning of an
- 2:41:53official inquiry into the strangeness.
- 2:41:57Following Hughes's initial observations, the case caught
- 2:42:01the attention of Detective Joseph Tozi, a seasoned
- 2:42:04investigator with a keen interest and phenomena that
- 2:42:08defied. Easy.
- 2:42:09Explanation Tozi, determined to uncover the truth, orchestrated
- 2:42:15a comprehensive. Surveillance operation.
- 2:42:17Within the Hermann home, over several days and nights, Tozee
- 2:42:23and his team kept a vigilant watch, documenting each incident
- 2:42:27with a rigor that bordered on the obsessive.
- 2:42:31The phenomena that they would observe was varied, but also
- 2:42:35similar to what had already taken place.
- 2:42:38Bottles. Previously at rest would
- 2:42:40suddenly animate their contents, frothing and spewing forth as if
- 2:42:45under pressure, and a particularly unnerving incident
- 2:42:49involved a bottle of perfume that, in full view of
- 2:42:53investigators, glided across the table with deliberate slowness
- 2:42:58before overturning to release its fragrant essence.
- 2:43:02Occasionally, bottle caps would detach and zip through the air
- 2:43:07with targeted precision, narrowly missing the observers
- 2:43:11and adding an element of personal threat to the
- 2:43:13occurrences. Tozi noted that each object
- 2:43:17involved in these incidents, upon examination, radiated an
- 2:43:22abnormal warmth, as if it was infused with an unseen energy.
- 2:43:27The climax of Tozi's observation came on a substantially heavy.
- 2:43:32Bureau. Desk, An object of considerable
- 2:43:35mass and unwieldy nature abruptly flipped over on its
- 2:43:40own. The desk crashed to the floor
- 2:43:43with a thunderous impact, leaving the investigators
- 2:43:46bewildered and alarmed. This event was complemented by
- 2:43:51other startling manifestations. A figurine and a bowl were seen
- 2:43:56to launch across the room. As if propelled.
- 2:43:59By the same force, and their trajectories seemed to be marked
- 2:44:03with intent to harm. Also throughout this intensive
- 2:44:07period of observation, Todzi made a curious observation at
- 2:44:12the presence of one of the Hermann children seemed to be a
- 2:44:15common denominator in the timing of these phenomena. yen.
- 2:44:20Despite his exhaustive efforts to uncover any form of
- 2:44:23deception, no evidence of trickery or manipulation could
- 2:44:29be found. The meticulous documentation of
- 2:44:32these events, coupled with the lack of any rational
- 2:44:35explanation, LED Tozzi to a profound realization, the
- 2:44:39realization that what he had witnessed transcended the
- 2:44:42boundaries of conventional understanding, firmly planting
- 2:44:46the seed of belief in his mind that the disturbances at the
- 2:44:50Hermann residence were indeed a manifestation of the
- 2:44:54unexplained. In their quest for solace, the
- 2:44:58Hermann family sought the spiritual intervention.
- 2:45:01Of Father. William McLeod from the Church
- 2:45:04of Saint William the Abbot. He visited their home and
- 2:45:08conducted a solemn ceremony infused with prayers and the
- 2:45:13sprinkling of holy water in every corner, hoping to cleanse
- 2:45:17the space of its unsettling disturbances.
- 2:45:20But despite Father Mcleod's honest efforts and the family's
- 2:45:24hopeful anticipation, the turmoil within the household
- 2:45:28persisted, as if the blessing had merely passed through an
- 2:45:32invisible barrier, leaving the chaos untouched.
- 2:45:37As the events within the Hermann residence escalated, word of
- 2:45:41their plight began to seep into the public consciousness,
- 2:45:45igniting a wildfire of media interest.
- 2:45:49The story, sensationalized under the moniker of Popper the
- 2:45:54Poltergeist, a nod to the mysterious popping of bottles
- 2:45:58that have become a hallmark of the haunting, capture the
- 2:46:02imagination of the nation esteemed.
- 2:46:04Publications such as. Time and Life magazines featured
- 2:46:09in depth articles on the phenomenon, catapulting the
- 2:46:12Hermann family into an unwelcome spotlight.
- 2:46:16The surge of attention drew a flood of curious onlookers,
- 2:46:20paranormal enthusiasts and skeptics to their doorstep.
- 2:46:25Reporters and a motley crew of self-proclaimed experts besieged
- 2:46:30the once peaceful home. Letters ranging from expressions
- 2:46:34of sympathy to outlandish theories bombarded the Family
- 2:46:38Day and night. Amidst this chaotic intrusion,
- 2:46:42James Herman remains steadfast in his determination to unearth
- 2:46:46a logical explanation for the events that had disrupted their
- 2:46:50lives. In a bid to capture empirical
- 2:46:53evidence of the disturbances, he went to the extent of installing
- 2:46:58sophisticated monitoring equipment in the basement.
- 2:47:01Of their. Home these devices designed to
- 2:47:04detect even the slightest vibrations.
- 2:47:07Ethan might help shed light on the source of the activity, but
- 2:47:11unfortunately they would yield no conclusive findings,
- 2:47:15deepening the mystery rather than dispelling it.
- 2:47:19Journalists who ventured into the Hermann residence hoping to
- 2:47:23capture a glimpse of the supernatural, often left with
- 2:47:26more questions and answers. Many were first hand witnesses
- 2:47:31to the bizarre occurrences that have become.
- 2:47:33Part of the daily fabric. Of the family's lives, in one
- 2:47:38particular startling incident, a reporter's camera became an.
- 2:47:42Unwilling. Participant in the phenomenon,
- 2:47:45the flashbulbs in his camera exploded as he prepared to
- 2:47:50document the scene, adding a tangible, albeit unnerving
- 2:47:55dimension to his story. As time progressed, the enigma
- 2:48:00of the Hermann household eventually attracted the
- 2:48:03attention of Robert Zeider, a physicist affiliated with Long
- 2:48:09Island's Brookhaven National Laboratory.
- 2:48:12Intrigued by the possibility of a scientific explanation, Zeider
- 2:48:16conducted an array of tests and analysis within the home.
- 2:48:21His investigations led him to theorize that the root of the
- 2:48:25disturbances might lie in the natural world, specifically the
- 2:48:30presence of underground streams beneath their property.
- 2:48:34He said that these hidden waterways could be generating an
- 2:48:37unusual magnetic field, a freak magnetic field that somehow
- 2:48:43triggered these unexplained activities.
- 2:48:46Despite the intriguing nature of his hypothesis, it did, however,
- 2:48:50offer. Little in the.
- 2:48:51Way of an immediate solace or solutions?
- 2:48:55To the. Hermann family, who yet still
- 2:48:57remained ensnared in a web of mystery in public fascination,
- 2:49:03perplexed by the ongoing mystery and at a loss for additional
- 2:49:07explanations. Detective.
- 2:49:09Totsi reached out to Doctor JB Rhine, a renowned expert from
- 2:49:14the Parapsychology Laboratory at Duke University in North
- 2:49:18Carolina, seeking insights into the baffling phenomena at the
- 2:49:23Hermann residence. Doctor.
- 2:49:25Rhine, along with his team, delved into the case.
- 2:49:30They would. Hypothesize that the source of
- 2:49:32the disturbances might be rooted in the psychic energy emanating
- 2:49:37from an individual within the household.
- 2:49:40Through careful observation and analysis, they identified Jimmy.
- 2:49:44The Son. Was consistently present during
- 2:49:47these occurrences as the likely epicenter of this psychic
- 2:49:52activity. To explore this theory further.
- 2:49:56Doctor Rhine. Introduced Dr. Pratt A.
- 2:49:59Specialist in psychokinetic phenomena into the equation.
- 2:50:04Doctor Pratt engaged Jimmy in a series of interactions,
- 2:50:08including conversations and recreational activities, in an
- 2:50:12effort to establish a rapport and observe any changes in the
- 2:50:16frequency or intensity of the paranormal events.
- 2:50:20Remarkably, it was noted that during these periods of
- 2:50:24engagement, the manifestations of the unexplained phenomena
- 2:50:28significantly diminished, suggesting a direct correlation
- 2:50:33between Jimmy's state of mind and the occurrences.
- 2:50:37This led the investigative team to a ground breaking theory that
- 2:50:42Jimmy was unknowingly channeling his psychic energy in a way that
- 2:50:46manifested has the mysterious events that have been plaguing
- 2:50:51him and his family. They postulated that Jimmy was a
- 2:50:54conduit for reoccurrence. Spontaneous Psychokinesis or
- 2:51:00better known as the acronym RSPK.
- 2:51:04A rare condition. Where an individual without
- 2:51:08conscious intent triggers paranormal activities, the sheer
- 2:51:12force of their subconscious mind.
- 2:51:15This involuntary projection of psychokinetic energy was
- 2:51:19believed to be the culprit behind the series of unexplained
- 2:51:22occurrences, and these findings were considered ground breaking
- 2:51:27because it would prove that the Hermann family wasn't the
- 2:51:30subject to trickery or the workings of an unknown
- 2:51:34supernatural entity. Instead, they represented a
- 2:51:38profound expression of human psychology, exceptional and
- 2:51:42remarkable in nature. The concept that the human brain
- 2:51:46could exert influence over physical objects without any
- 2:51:51tangible interaction was a radical departure from the
- 2:51:55established norms at the time. This perspective suggested that
- 2:51:59under certain conditions, perhaps related to emotional
- 2:52:03stress or psychological factors, that an individual could trigger
- 2:52:08manifestations of psychokinetic activity.
- 2:52:12This theory poised that the mysterious occurrences within
- 2:52:15the Hermann home. From the.
- 2:52:17Spontaneous popping of bottles to the unexplained movements of
- 2:52:21household items could be directly linked to the
- 2:52:25subconscious outpourings of a young man's psychic energy.
- 2:52:29And although this seemed to be a pretty decent theory for
- 2:52:33explaining exactly what was taking place, things within the
- 2:52:37Hermann household continued to unfold.
- 2:52:39An array of television crews managed to penetrate the once
- 2:52:44peaceful abode, their cameras ready to document the
- 2:52:47bewildering phenomena that had taken residence.
- 2:52:50Alongside. The family This pivotal moment
- 2:52:54in the saga of the Hermans not only brought the eerie
- 2:52:57disturbances into the living rooms of people across the
- 2:53:01country, but also set a precedent marking the pauper
- 2:53:05incident as one of the first hauntings to ever be broadcast
- 2:53:09on national television. Audiences from coast to coast
- 2:53:13were drawn into the mystifying world of the Hermans, witnessing
- 2:53:17first hand the unexplainable events that had disrupted their
- 2:53:21lives for years. Amid the whirlwind of attention,
- 2:53:25the Hermann family found themselves longing for a
- 2:53:28semblance of normalcy. The constant presence of camera
- 2:53:32crews, the relentless scrutiny, and the unpredictable chaos that
- 2:53:37had become their daily. Lives.
- 2:53:39Left them yearning for the quiet, an eventful life they
- 2:53:42once knew. They sought solace in the hope
- 2:53:46that the mysterious disturbances that had trusted.
- 2:53:49Them into the. Spotlight would soon dissipate,
- 2:53:52allowing them to reclaim the peace that they had once had.
- 2:53:57Their hopes would not be in vain, a turn of events as sudden
- 2:54:01and unexplained. As the.
- 2:54:02Onset of the disturbances strange happenings that had
- 2:54:06helped the nation's attention came to an abrupt halt in August
- 2:54:11of 1958 the. Bottles.
- 2:54:13Ceased their spontaneous eruptions.
- 2:54:16The objects remained still, and the eerie atmosphere that had
- 2:54:21enveloped their home lifted, seemingly without reason or
- 2:54:26warning. The end of the disturbances was
- 2:54:30as much of A mystery as their beginning, leaving many to
- 2:54:33speculate on the forces that could bring about such cessation
- 2:54:37of activity. The ending of the haunting
- 2:54:40brought a profound sense of relief to the Hermann family,
- 2:54:44who were finally able to turn the page on this bizarre chapter
- 2:54:47of their lives. However, the legacy of Popper
- 2:54:51lived on, its mysteries unresolved but forever etched
- 2:54:57into the halls of paranormal history.
- 2:55:00The. Unprecedented media.
- 2:55:01Coverage it had. Received and not only brought
- 2:55:04the phenomenon to public consciousness, but also had set
- 2:55:08a new standard for how such occurrences could be shared and
- 2:55:13analyzed on a national scale. The mystery of the Popper
- 2:55:17poltergeist remains a source of enduring intrigue.
- 2:55:21And. Fascination among paranormal
- 2:55:23experts standing as a cryptic puzzle that continues to elude
- 2:55:28any form of definitive explanation, such as the depth
- 2:55:32of the mystery that had prompted speculation among cultural
- 2:55:36historians and cinema scholars that the bizarre occurrences
- 2:55:40which had unfolded in the Hermann household might have
- 2:55:43ignited the creative inspiration with the iconic film poltergeist
- 2:55:49this connection underscores the profound impact that the.
- 2:55:53Story has had not with just. The confines of the paranormal
- 2:55:56study, but also its influence on popular culture and cinematic
- 2:56:02storytelling. In conclusion, the mystery that
- 2:56:06is Popper the poltergeist. Not only.
- 2:56:09Remains a bizarre. Case that puzzles and fascinates
- 2:56:13us. It also serves as a beacon,
- 2:56:16drawing attention to the vast unexplored territories of human
- 2:56:21experience and the natural world.
- 2:56:25It challenges observers to question the limits of their
- 2:56:28understanding and to remain open to the possibilities that lie
- 2:56:33beyond the conventional frameworks of knowledge.
- 2:56:37The story of the Hermann family and the inexplicable.
- 2:56:40Events. That occurred within their home.
- 2:56:43The stand is a testament to the enduring allure of the unknown
- 2:56:48and the perpetual quest for answers in the face of the
- 2:56:53inexplicable in the midst of a lush, vibrant green expanse.
- 2:56:59Located in a quaint rural stretch of Essex, close to the
- 2:57:03eastern shores of England, there once resided an imposing Gothic
- 2:57:10inspired bric edifice known as Borley Rectory.
- 2:57:15This architectural marvel, erected in the year 1863 under
- 2:57:20the guidance of Reverend Henry Dawson Ellis Bull, soon became
- 2:57:26the cherished dwelling for him and his extensive family of 14.
- 2:57:32The plot of land upon which this rectory was constructed born
- 2:57:36enigmatic in lengthy history, stretching back well before its
- 2:57:42foundations were laid. Legend has it that this very
- 2:57:46sight was once graced by a monastery in the 14th century, a
- 2:57:52place shrouded in dark allure. Local folklore whispers of a
- 2:57:58tragic love story that unfolded within this historical backdrop.
- 2:58:04A monk residing in the monastery reportedly fell deeply in love
- 2:58:09with a nun from a neighboring convent.
- 2:58:13Their love, forbidden and clandestine, blossomed in secret
- 2:58:19until their affair was tragically uncovered.
- 2:58:22The aftermath was grim. The monk faced a dire fate,
- 2:58:28being executed by hanging at the exact location where Borley
- 2:58:34Rectory would later stand. As for the nun, her punishment
- 2:58:39was equally harsh and more narrowing, as she was condemned
- 2:58:45to a living tomb sealed alive within the convent walls.
- 2:58:52It is against the. Backdrop of love, betrayal and
- 2:58:56tragedy that the spectral occurrences at Poorly Rectory
- 2:59:02are believed to have originated casting a long shadow over the
- 2:59:07property. These chilling tales and
- 2:59:10witnessed apparitions have catapulted Borley Rectory into
- 2:59:15the halls of paranormal history, marking it as one of the globe's
- 2:59:21most infamously haunted locations.
- 2:59:24Almost immediately after Henry Bull and his family made the
- 2:59:29estate their home, they found themselves engulfed in a barrage
- 2:59:34of mysterious occurrences. The onset was marked by
- 2:59:39inexplicable sounds, footsteps echoing in empty corridors, the
- 2:59:45persistent murmur of flowing water where there should be
- 2:59:50none, disembodied voices whispering in the dead of night,
- 2:59:56bells chiming independently despite severed connections and
- 3:00:04objects that seem to move of their own volition.
- 3:00:08However, these initial oddities. Quickly intensified in
- 3:00:13frequency, the children, particularly vulnerable and
- 3:00:18perceptive, reported the reoccurring vision of a
- 3:00:23sinister, ghostly nun wandering the premises.
- 3:00:28This eerie figure wasn't a fleeting glimpse.
- 3:00:33It manifested itself repeatedly, observed by multiple members of
- 3:00:39the Bull family. Among the children, the youngest
- 3:00:44daughter, Ethel, bore the brunt of the spectral harassment.
- 3:00:50She was subjected to physical assaults by an invisible
- 3:00:54assailant and during pushes slabs.
- 3:01:00It was such force they left behind physical evidence of her
- 3:01:05encounters. Adding to the atmosphere of
- 3:01:09dread was the legend of a ghostly carriage hold by horses
- 3:01:16and driven by two headless spectres.
- 3:01:20These spectres raced through the surrounding area with reckless
- 3:01:24abandoned. This and other chilling
- 3:01:28encounters persisted, weaving a tapestry that seemed to grow
- 3:01:33more complex with time, enduring well past the death of Henry
- 3:01:38Bull in 1892 when he passed the property onto his son, Harry
- 3:01:46Bull. The legacy of unsettling
- 3:01:49phenomena thus continued during Harry Bull's tenure.
- 3:01:56The Erie manifestations at the estate not only persisted, but
- 3:02:01seemed to intensify with numerous bizarre occurrences
- 3:02:06recorded. On a particularly unsettling
- 3:02:10day, while Harry was tending to his garden, his dog suddenly
- 3:02:15erupted into a frenzy of barks, displaying a mix of terror and
- 3:02:23confusion, hiding behind a tree for reasons that weren't
- 3:02:28immediately apparent. Upon investigating the cause of
- 3:02:32his dog's distress, Harry reported a chilling sight, a
- 3:02:38headless figure emerging from behind the voyage, proceeding to
- 3:02:45board a phantom carriage that eerily glided to silence.
- 3:02:52This was not a solitary encounter.
- 3:02:56Harry experienced several such unnerving incidents with the
- 3:03:00ghostly carriage, which appeared to race by only to dissolve into
- 3:03:06thin air moments later. Amidst these spectral
- 3:03:11happenings, the figure of the ghostly nun remained a constant.
- 3:03:18She was often observed in full daylight, roaming the grounds
- 3:03:23and unsettlingly peering through windows.
- 3:03:27On numerous occasions, Harry and his family's dining experiences
- 3:03:33were interrupted by the unwelcome side of her face,
- 3:03:38often gazing in through the window, an occurrence that
- 3:03:43became so frequent and disturbing that Harry eventually
- 3:03:48took measures to break up the dining room window in an attempt
- 3:03:53to shield his family from her intrusive stares.
- 3:03:57These ongoing supernatural events under Harry's watch
- 3:04:02contributed to a thickening atmosphere of terror.
- 3:04:07Following Harry Bull's death in 1927, the rectory found itself
- 3:04:12draped in silence, temporarily forsaken until Reverend Guy Eric
- 3:04:19Smith and his wife decided to call it their home.
- 3:04:24No sooner had they unpacked their belongings and they found
- 3:04:28themselves plunged into a realm of unexplained phenomena,
- 3:04:34phenomena that defied rational explanation.
- 3:04:39Their new abode seemed to pulsate with a life of its own,
- 3:04:44illuminated by wandering orbs of light that dance through the
- 3:04:48darkness and haunted by the spectral vision of a nun.
- 3:04:55Whose? Presence was as persistent as it
- 3:04:58was unsettling. The ghostly carriage with its
- 3:05:02headless drivers continued its nocturnal journeys, accompanied
- 3:05:08by shadowy figures that flooded just beyond the corner of one's
- 3:05:14eye. The air was often pierced by the
- 3:05:17echo of footsteps and the mournful tolling of bells that
- 3:05:22rang from nowhere. The most chilling discovery,
- 3:05:27however, came at the hands of Smith's wife.
- 3:05:30During an ordinary day of household chores, hidden within
- 3:05:35the depths of an old cupboard wrapped in a forgotten paper
- 3:05:39package, she stumbled upon a discovery that sent shivers down
- 3:05:44her spine. A human skull, its empty sockets
- 3:05:49seemingly staring back at her. This macabre find was soon
- 3:05:53accompanied by auditory disturbances.
- 3:05:56Horse whispers filled the air, and the sound of heavy footsteps
- 3:06:02resonated through the empty halls, creating an atmosphere
- 3:06:07thick with tension and unanswered questions.
- 3:06:11Reverend Smith found himself compelled to arm himself with a
- 3:06:15stick as he moved about his own home, a testament to the
- 3:06:20unsettling presence that seemed to stalk them from the shadows.
- 3:06:25Driven to the brink of insanity by these chilling experiences,
- 3:06:29The Smiths reached out to the Daily Mirror in 1929, desperate
- 3:06:35for answers. The newspaper responded by
- 3:06:39dispatching a man named Harry Price, a renowned paranormal
- 3:06:44researcher. Along with his team, they were
- 3:06:47tasked with unraveling the secrets that lay hidden within
- 3:06:50the walls. Of the borderly.
- 3:06:52Rectory, A mission that promised to delve deep into the unknown.
- 3:06:59Shortly after his arrival at Borley Rectory, Harry Price
- 3:07:03found himself. Quickly.
- 3:07:04Immersed and the intense paranormal activities that
- 3:07:08seemed to permeate out of nowhere.
- 3:07:12Throughout his investigation, Price documented witnessing
- 3:07:16several unexplainable events that defied logic.
- 3:07:21Objects were observed levitating and hurling through the air,
- 3:07:26propelled by something that they couldn't see, while cryptic
- 3:07:31messages eerily formed on mirrors, seemingly tapped out by
- 3:07:37ghostly fingers. In a particularly chilling
- 3:07:41incident, Price and his assistant watched in disbelief
- 3:07:46as a glass Candlestick floated ominously before them, only to
- 3:07:51violently shatter against the wall, sending a cascade of glass
- 3:07:56fragments scattering in all directions.
- 3:08:01Moreover, Price reported encounters with the spectral
- 3:08:04figures. That had become almost.
- 3:08:06Legendary at Borley Rectory, he claimed to have seen the
- 3:08:10haunting visage of the nun headless coach, drivers eerily
- 3:08:15navigating the night and even. The.
- 3:08:18Ghost of Henry Bull himself looming within the shadow filled
- 3:08:24corridors. They even purported to capture
- 3:08:27photographic evidence of an apparition, adding a tangible,
- 3:08:33albeit ghostly, chapter to the Rectory's story history.
- 3:08:38However, it's worth noting that many of the extraordinary
- 3:08:42phenomena reported by Price was not collaborated by the
- 3:08:47experiences of The Smiths, leading to skepticism at the
- 3:08:52veracity of some events. Despite this, The Smiths had
- 3:08:57encountered enough unexplained disturbances to make the
- 3:09:00decision to leave the rectory in 1929, less than a year after
- 3:09:06they had made it their home Prices.
- 3:09:08Detailed accounts of the bizarre occurrences of Borley Rectory
- 3:09:12were widely publicized, catapulting the story into the
- 3:09:17realm of public fascination and debate.
- 3:09:21This was the moment that the haunting of Borley Rectory
- 3:09:24transcended mere local folklore to become a captivating mystery
- 3:09:29that captured the imagination of the wider public and viewing the
- 3:09:34rectory with a mystique that continues to intrigue and baffle
- 3:09:39to this day. Following Harry Price's
- 3:09:42investigation, which earned the property the title of the most
- 3:09:47haunted house in England, the residents welcomed its new
- 3:09:52occupants in 1930. The incoming family comprised of
- 3:09:57Reverend Lionel Foster. A relative of the initial
- 3:10:02proprietor, Henry Bull. Alongside his wife Marianne and
- 3:10:07their adopted daughter Adelaide, the transition into their new
- 3:10:12home was anything but ordinary, as it seemed that they also took
- 3:10:17possession of its lingering spectral residence, inheriting a
- 3:10:22legacy of encounters that would defy explanation.
- 3:10:27Once again, the Foysters were. Plunged into a realm of
- 3:10:31mysterious occurrences. That seemed to.
- 3:10:34Intensify with time. Their daily lives were
- 3:10:38interrupted by an array of inexplicable events that would
- 3:10:42test the skepticism of even the staunchest doubter.
- 3:10:47Objects with minds of their own would be thrown through the air.
- 3:10:51Rocks, glasses, and bottles quickly became projectiles used
- 3:10:58by unseen forces. Windows shattered spontaneously,
- 3:11:03as if struck by invisible stones, while doors developed
- 3:11:07wills of their own, locking and unlocking in a whimsical dance
- 3:11:12that left the family often stranded or intrusively barred
- 3:11:17from their own rooms. The household's furniture seemed
- 3:11:20to partake in a silent conspiracy, shifting positions
- 3:11:24when no one was watching, contributing to the discerning
- 3:11:28atmosphere that pervaded the estate.
- 3:11:31Objects would mysteriously vanish as well, only to reappear
- 3:11:36in the most unlikely places, as if the house itself was playing
- 3:11:41a macabre game of hide and seek, with the living adding to the
- 3:11:46eerie ambience. Or once again, the inexplicable
- 3:11:50sounds of non existent ringing bells, and these were
- 3:11:56accompanied by unsettling sounds of heavy breathing by no one
- 3:12:02that could be seen. Footsteps echoed in the halls,
- 3:12:07which again suggested the presence of unseen visitors,
- 3:12:11visitors that were treading the corridors alongside the living.
- 3:12:16Perhaps the most chilling aspect of the haunting was the apparent
- 3:12:20fixation of the malevolent presence on Mary Ann.
- 3:12:24This unseen force seemed to single her out for torment more
- 3:12:28than anyone else in the household.
- 3:12:31On numerous occasions, she experienced the sensation being
- 3:12:36pushed, poked and even slapped. Objects would be hurled directly
- 3:12:42at her, making her the unfortunate focus of these
- 3:12:47paranormal attacks. In one particularly harrowing
- 3:12:51incident, Marianne. Woke up in the dead of night.
- 3:12:56Only to find herself struggling to breathe under the oppressive
- 3:13:00weight of a mattress, as if the entity was attempting to
- 3:13:06suffocate her in her own bed. Following this terrifying event,
- 3:13:13the walls of the rectory. Began to bear.
- 3:13:16Cryptic messages, phrases like Marianne please help and
- 3:13:23Marianne light mass prayers and appearing mysteriously.
- 3:13:30There were also moments when she was violently thrown from her
- 3:13:33bed or pinned down by the invisible oppressor, experiences
- 3:13:40so disturbing that they convinced Foster to undertake
- 3:13:44exorcisms on two separate occasions.
- 3:13:49Unfortunately though, these attempts would not only fail,
- 3:13:54but seem to anger the spirit even further, resulting in a
- 3:13:59frenzy of this size stones being thrown at him.
- 3:14:03Adding yet another layer, Marianne reported sightings of
- 3:14:08the Spectral. Figure of Bull.
- 3:14:11Suggesting his lingering presence still was there.
- 3:14:16Within the. Confines of the Rectory Numerous
- 3:14:20paranormal investigators captivated by the increasingly
- 3:14:24famous tale hypothesized that the unsettling poltergeist
- 3:14:29manifestations might have. Been.
- 3:14:31Emanating from Marianne, or perhaps their daughter, heading
- 3:14:36down the true source, however, remained an elusive task as the
- 3:14:42Foysters vacated the property in 1935.
- 3:14:47Price seized the moment to re enter the scene, eager to delve
- 3:14:52deeper into the mysteries and Borley Rectory seemed to
- 3:14:56jealously guard. Armed with the latest in ghost
- 3:15:00hunting technology and a keen sense of determination, Price
- 3:15:05embarked on an extensive recruitment Dr. gathering a
- 3:15:09diverse group of 48 individuals. Together they were to join him
- 3:15:15in his investigative quest, taking turns to stay overnight
- 3:15:20at the haunted premises. Each one.
- 3:15:24Hoping to witness first hand peculiar occurrences that it
- 3:15:28captured the attention the supernatural community.
- 3:15:33Price's ambition didn't stop there.
- 3:15:36He envisioned spending an entire year within the walls of the
- 3:15:40rectory. To thoroughly.
- 3:15:42Document its myriad of mysteries.
- 3:15:46This wasn't just another ghost hunting expedition, it was a
- 3:15:50meticulously. Planned.
- 3:15:52Operation aimed at peeling. Back the layers of secrecy that
- 3:15:56shrouded the house. With a.
- 3:15:59Mix of anticipation and a touch of the unknown, Price and his
- 3:16:04team prepared to embark on what promised to be an unprecedented
- 3:16:09exploration of the supernatural adventure, brimming with the
- 3:16:13potential to unlock the secrets of one of the most hauntingly
- 3:16:18captivating locations known. Throughout the duration of their
- 3:16:24year long investigation at the property, the team reported a
- 3:16:28series of extraordinary findings, among which a
- 3:16:33particularly compelling seance conducted 1 evening stands out.
- 3:16:39In this session, the psychic medium Helen Glanville allegedly
- 3:16:44established communication with the spirit who introduced itself
- 3:16:49as Mary Laurie. This spirit claimed a past life
- 3:16:53as a nun in France before making the life altering decision leave
- 3:16:58her convent journey to England and enter into marriage with a
- 3:17:04wealthy individual named Henry Waldegrave.
- 3:17:08Tragically, the tale took a dark turn, with Mary Laurie
- 3:17:12recounting how she was brutally strangled by her husband and her
- 3:17:17body disgracefully abandoned in the cellar of the rectory.
- 3:17:23It was Mary's spirit, according to the narrative, that sought
- 3:17:27out Mary Anne, pleading for assistance from beyond the
- 3:17:32grave. In a subsequent chilling
- 3:17:35encounter, Glanville made contact with another spirit,
- 3:17:40this one identifying itself as Sunay Emura.
- 3:17:45Displaying a more ominous intent, it issued a dire
- 3:17:49prophecy declaring its plan to set the entire structure ablaze
- 3:17:55in 1938, with the aftermath revealing the remains of a
- 3:18:00murdered man amidst the rules, in addition to these startling
- 3:18:05communications the team encountered.
- 3:18:08Frequent. Poltergeist activities, areas of
- 3:18:11intense unexplainable cold, bizarre non human footprints in
- 3:18:17the snow and purported sightings of the ghostly nun would become
- 3:18:22a figure of intrigue while stood elving into Borley Rectory's
- 3:18:27past. Taking on the role of
- 3:18:29chronicler, Price meticulously documented these investigations,
- 3:18:35their findings and the haunting tales woven into the fabric of
- 3:18:40the rectory. The culmination of this
- 3:18:43exhaustive research was presented to the public in two
- 3:18:48volumes, The Most Haunted House in England, 1940 and The End of
- 3:18:55Borley Rectory in 1946. In what could only be described
- 3:19:00as a peculiar twist of fate, closely aligning with the
- 3:19:04ominous prediction made by the spirit they had contacted, the
- 3:19:09year 1939 unfolded with a startling incident.
- 3:19:15The Borley Rectory's new proprietor, Captain WH Gregson,
- 3:19:20accidentally dropped an oil lamp, igniting a fierce blaze
- 3:19:24that swept through the structure.
- 3:19:27The resulting inferno severely damaged the Manor, leaving it a
- 3:19:32charred shell of its former glory.
- 3:19:36In the aftermath, during an exploration in 1943, Price
- 3:19:41ventured into the remnants of the cellar.
- 3:19:44In the midst the debris, he discovered what he believed to
- 3:19:49be the remains of a young woman. This claim sparked controversy,
- 3:19:55with some skeptics questioning the human origin of these
- 3:19:58remains. Following the fire, an array of
- 3:20:02occurrences were reported in the vicinity of the now abandoned
- 3:20:06and fire scarred rectory. Residents and visitors spoke of
- 3:20:11hearing inexplicable ghostly laughter echoing through the
- 3:20:15night, witnessing eerie lights with no discernible source.
- 3:20:20And encountering frequent malfunctions of electrical
- 3:20:24devices. Moreover, the spectral figure of
- 3:20:28the nun, who had become a haunting staple of the Borley
- 3:20:32lore, was sided with unsettling regularity.
- 3:20:37Additional reports came from individuals, including World War
- 3:20:41Two soldiers stationed nearby, who experienced the sensation of
- 3:20:46unseen assailants hurling stones at them.
- 3:20:50These mysterious events persisted until the rectory met
- 3:20:54its ultimate fate, being demolished in 1944.
- 3:20:59However, the demolition did not mark the end.
- 3:21:04Rather, it seemed to dilute the frequency and intensity the
- 3:21:08paranormal phenomena as the years progressed leading up to
- 3:21:13Harry Price's death in 1948. The tales of Borley Rectory's
- 3:21:18haunted legacy gradually receded into the shadows of history.
- 3:21:23The once vivid accounts of supernatural occurrences and
- 3:21:27ghostly sightings transitioned into whispered legends.
- 3:21:32This shift consigned Borley Rectory and its ghostly
- 3:21:36inhabitants to the realm of folklore, transforming it into a
- 3:21:41haunting echo of the past and the years that followed.
- 3:21:45Since its peak of notoriety, the tale of a haunted Borley Rectory
- 3:21:51became embroiled in controversy, attracting the level of scrutiny
- 3:21:56that far exceeded expectations. Harry Price's Foundation Report,
- 3:22:02once a cornerstone of paranormal literature, found itself under
- 3:22:06the critical microscope of the Society for Psychical Research,
- 3:22:12or SPR. Upon its release, this
- 3:22:16organization steeped in investigations of the
- 3:22:19supernatural. Raised.
- 3:22:21Doubts about the authenticity of the sightings reported by Price.
- 3:22:26They poised that a significant number of these incidents could
- 3:22:30be attributed to natural explanations, or could have been
- 3:22:34overly dramatized, or were outright fabrications crafted by
- 3:22:39Price himself. The skepticism surrounding
- 3:22:43Price's work intensified notably after his passing, when a Daily
- 3:22:48Mail journalist who had accompanied Prize during his
- 3:22:51explorations at the rectory stepped forward with allegations
- 3:22:56that cast a shadow over the entirety of the findings.
- 3:23:01These allegations accused Price. Of.
- 3:23:03Concocting the entire narrative, this claim was compounded by an
- 3:23:09even more startling revelation. Or Marianne Forster, a central
- 3:23:14figure in the Borley Rectory saga, would later confess that
- 3:23:19the haunting that they had experienced was a fabrication.
- 3:23:24The narrative took yet another twist with the publication of a
- 3:23:28book, 2000 by Louis meyerling, boldly titled we faked the
- 3:23:35ghosts of borley rectory. Meyerling's work delves into the
- 3:23:40heart of the controversy, suggesting that the.
- 3:23:43Stories of the. Haunting that he captivated the
- 3:23:46public were the result of elaborate deceptions.
- 3:23:50By the Bulls, the Foyers. Harry Bryce and his
- 3:23:55investigative team. According to this account, these
- 3:23:59individuals were not the honest secrets of truth they claimed to
- 3:24:02be, but rather skilled illusionists and storytellers,
- 3:24:09weaving a complex web of ghostly tales that blurred the lines
- 3:24:14between reality and the supernatural.
- 3:24:18This perspective cast the Borley Rectory in a new light,
- 3:24:22suggesting. That its.
- 3:24:23Legacy may be more about the human penchant for crafting
- 3:24:27narratives that captivate and intrigue rather than tangible
- 3:24:32encounters. The Supernatural Realm Despite
- 3:24:37this whirling vortex of skepticism, it's fascinating to
- 3:24:41observe that a substantial number of individuals still
- 3:24:44staunchly. Stand.
- 3:24:45Behind the authenticity of the Borley Rectory case, it strikes
- 3:24:51one as peculiar almost beyond belief that such a diverse group
- 3:24:56could mastermind an elaborate hoax spanning several decades
- 3:25:01with such precision. Numerous witnesses have
- 3:25:05passionately contended that the events witnessed.
- 3:25:09Could not have. Been the product of mere
- 3:25:11trickery, adding layers of intrigue to the narrative, this
- 3:25:17conviction. Among many, has.
- 3:25:18Ensured that the Erie saga. A Borley rectory.
- 3:25:22Continues to captivate and bewitch minds, securing its
- 3:25:28place as a timeless, haunting narrative that ignites fervent
- 3:25:33discussions, debates even to this day.
- 3:25:38But the question still looms large, what truly unfolded
- 3:25:42within those walls? Was there any substance to the
- 3:25:46tails or are we merely chasing shadows of a long standing
- 3:25:52urban? Myth.
- 3:25:54Meticulously woven by cunning fabricators, the truth is up to
- 3:26:00you to decide. With the principal characters
- 3:26:04and investigators of these mysterious events long past and
- 3:26:09the rectory itself erased from the physical world, we find
- 3:26:14ourselves ensnared and a web speculation.
- 3:26:20It appears that the tale of Borley Rectory is destined to
- 3:26:23hover in the. Realms of the.
- 3:26:25Unknown. A ghostly whisper from the past
- 3:26:30that continues to puzzle and mesmerize those dare to delve do
