- 0:15I am determined to show you the reality of navigating the medical space as a patient caregiver and loved ones.
- 0:23So you can be empowered and take back the most precious and important asset of your life, which is your health.
- 0:30Let's get ready.
- 0:32Comfortable and get started Hello Warriors.
- 0:37Hello healers.
- 0:39Welcome back to the podcast.
- 0:41I have a different podcast for you all today.
- 0:44It's gonna be short and brief in something that I am doing.
- 0:47I would love for you to support us and I wanna share with you, so I am.
- 0:53About to embark on a 30 day move your body challenge.
- 0:59My gut healers from the Gut Decluttering program and myself are going to do 30 days of movement.
- 1:06Now, we all have different goals.
- 1:07At the beginning of the program, gut Decluttering program, I asked them to write down five goals and.
- 1:15To really look at them every day so that they can keep an eyes on the goals.
- 1:19And many of them have weight loss listed.
- 1:21Many of them have, um, developing healthy habits.
- 1:24And for me, my goals are mostly to build muscle.
- 1:30I've lost weight.
- 1:31Weight loss is somewhat easier for me at this stage of my journey, and because I'm losing weight and it's easier, I'm also losing muscle mass in a way because I am not exercising, I am not turning up.
- 1:44So I look skinny, I look um, sexy.
- 1:48I look petite.
- 1:49However, I would love to have my muscles.
- 1:52I would love to age gracefully.
- 1:54I don't want to have saggy skin, saggy body parts, saggy anything.
- 1:59So I decided that we will do a 30 day move your body challenge movement I did something similar to this when I was running my weight loss and steroid.
- 2:10Program a while back where we work for 30 days.
- 2:14But this challenge is different.
- 2:16It is more intense.
- 2:18I will say.
- 2:19It is more, how would I say this?
- 2:21It is more pronounced in a way that we are not just walking, we're gonna be doing different activities, different exercises.
- 2:29I am gonna be exercising a lot more.
- 2:31Going to the gym not be working as much.
- 2:34I'll be contracting my muscles.
- 2:36I'll be working with personal trainers.
- 2:38I'll be involved in, in small groups, boot camps at the gym to really get to my goals.
- 2:44In 30 days, I would love to see some muscles popping.
- 2:48I would love to really turn up, in every single part of my body.
- 2:54But let's talk about what a challenge is.
- 2:56Like what does it mean to go through a challenge?
- 3:00To run a challenge for yourself?
- 3:02It means that you are stepping outside of your comfort zone.
- 3:05Cuz we so often love to stay exactly where we are.
- 3:09We don't want to do anything d we don't wanna explore, we don't wanna experience, we don't want, some of us don't like changes.
- 3:17But when you run a challenge, not only you keeping it exciting, you're keeping it new, you're keeping it something.
- 3:22Different, but you also getting out of your comfort zone.
- 3:26Growth happens when you are outside of, of your ordinary day-to-day life, okay?
- 3:32And you are taking on a new task.
- 3:34You are learning new skills, you're setting up new goals, and you ready to work harder to achieve them.
- 3:39Cause a 30 day move your body challenge is not easy.
- 3:43It is not easy.
- 3:44Requires a lot of planning, mindset work requires emotional work and it requires for you to look at your life with a lens to see, Hey, can I do this?
- 3:54Cuz at the end of the day it's just a decision and you just have to give yourself permission to do it.
- 3:58But as life is happening for us, we tend to just put ourselves, our health, our desires, our needs.
- 4:06On the back burner so that we can take care of everybody else so we can be present for other people so we can prioritize other things.
- 4:12But when you do a challenge, it's really focusing on you.
- 4:16It also leads to personal growth personal development and self-improvement.
- 4:20This challenge that I'm about to embark on will test my resiliency, my great and determination, because it will be very challenging.
- 4:28I already have somewhat the full life.
- 4:31Busy in a sense where I'm running a practice, I'm taking care of my family, I'm taking care of my two children, and I'm also taking care of my patients.
- 4:41So my day-to-day life is pretty full, if I'm being honest with you.
- 4:45But as I mentioned, it is a decision if I really wanna do this, I just have to find a space in my calendar to schedule this challenge cuz I can come up with so many excuses.
- 4:57I'm already at work.
- 4:59The time that I'm recording this podcast, the challenge will start in a day but I'm already at work and I have a full schedule, and my job is very demanding in the sense that I am helping people heal the bodies.
- 5:13I have to be present.
- 5:15I structure my practice to be, I.
- 5:18Not only present for my patients, but to support them to create a space of accountability for them, for them to know that they have access to us whenever they need help, whenever they need us to address certain things.
- 5:32So therefore, I have to make sure that my calendar, my routine, is open for whatever my patient needs at the moment.
- 5:39So imagine that, right?
- 5:40Imagine that PA people can just send me a message and then they get an answer.
- 5:45Imagine that the patient is going through something, whether it's a detox reaction, a new symptoms or a persistent symptoms and they need help.
- 5:53So I have to literally be present for them.
- 5:55And the fact that with functional medicine, it is not covered by insurance.
- 6:00And I want to make sure that every single patient in my practice is getting results.
- 6:05They are finishing strong at the end of our journey together.
- 6:09So that requires a lot of work on my part, a lot of physical and mental work on my part to be there for them.
- 6:17So running a challenge is not something that, I just wake up and decide to do it is something that I think is necessary, something that I, I found to be valuable, and it's something that's gonna really challenge me, challenge the person that I am, and I know every time I run a challenge, I become different.
- 6:34At the end of it, I kind of dig into my strength, into my courage, and I'm always amazed of things that I can accomplish So a challenge is not supposed to be easy, right?
- 6:45It requires a lot of effort, but the beauty of it is that it opens up to new experiences and puts you, in a way of improving yourself every single day.
- 6:55We wanna be evolving as human being.
- 6:58We wanna grow every single second.
- 6:59We don't wanna stay stagnant and sedentary.
- 7:03So Move Your Body Challenge has so many benefits.
- 7:07It's not just.
- 7:08For weight loss because when I talk to my patients or when I talk to people, they, they, they'll think that I'm doing this for weight loss.
- 7:13For me, it's not for weight loss, but there are a few benefits when you move your body on a daily basis.
- 7:20And when I say move your body, I'm not saying that you need to go to the gym every day, although I'll be going to the gym four days, five days out of the week.
- 7:28But you don't have to.
- 7:29You can literally.
- 7:30Walk every day.
- 7:31You can literally get in a treadmill if you have one every day.
- 7:34You can literally get up and down the staircase every day.
- 7:38You have to listen to your body and not do anything where you're gonna enjoy yourself.
- 7:43So it's not exercising for 30 days.
- 7:45As a matter of fact, exercising seven days out of the week is not ideal.
- 7:48It's not safe.
- 7:49Many people can get, inflammation.
- 7:52Many people can get sick from exercising, exhaustion from exercising every day.
- 7:56So you have to come.
- 7:59Looking for ways to do this, not, not only for you to get the results, but you are not going to create more damage to yourself.
- 8:09So moving your body.
- 8:10Some of my patients will be walking, some my, some of my patients will be going to the gym four or three days.
- 8:18For some of my patients that have like a lot of health issues that can't do a lot, they're just gonna get up and walk around the house.
- 8:24Like work outside for at least 15 minutes, 30 minutes, like that's all that is required.
- 8:29If you are in a state where you have a lot going on, you can't do more than you not going to the gym.
- 8:36You just have to move your body.
- 8:37You can dance, you can do Zumba, you can do Pilates.
- 8:41There's so many options out there, but the benefits of moving your body is not only to maintain your weight or lose weight, but it's also to promote longevity and overall health.
- 8:52When you move your body, you're increasing circulation.
- 8:55You're improving your strength and flexibility and bone health, right?
- 8:59You are also improving your sleep.
- 9:01You're boosting your moods and you reducing stress.
- 9:05You are improving your health of your brain.
- 9:08Better cognitive function if you do it in a way where you're promoting, sweating, elimination, you're also gonna have a healthier looking skin.
- 9:17So moving your body, has a lot involved with it.
- 9:22For me, it's more about building muscle, throwing up, increasing my muscle mass for my patients is losing weight in your gut health.
- 9:31Because remember when you move, You are creating contraction, you are increasing circulation.
- 9:37So therefore you have blood flow going all over your body, not just your heart.
- 9:42You have blood flow also going to your digestive system and a lot of people will see, improve bowel elimination because of the increased circulation.
- 9:53You can Google.
- 9:55The benefits of moving your body daily?
- 9:56And you'll get tons of research studies on it.
- 9:59And I think everybody specifically now, since we are moving into summer, it's nice outside.
- 10:05I think everybody should go out and move your body specifically if you have a stressful job.
- 10:10For me, walking is a.
- 10:14Mental exercise.
- 10:16It is a way of reducing my stress.
- 10:18It's a way of tackling certain things that are happen in my life right now so I can practice it when I go on a walk.
- 10:24That's what walking does for me.
- 10:26Going to the gym.
- 10:28It's a way of holding myself accountable.
- 10:31Now, many of you guys know that I don't like to exercise.
- 10:35I don't like to exercise.
- 10:37I mean, I envy people that loves going to the gym.
- 10:40That's not me.
- 10:41But I know it's necessary because again, if I don't move, I lose.
- 10:46If I don't contract my, muscles and put them to work, I'm gonna lose them.
- 10:51What I've done to really make this challenge easier for me.
- 10:55I've tested a few gyms.
- 10:58And I find one that I really like.
- 11:00They have group programs.
- 11:02And what I love about group programs is that I can see that I am not the only one that is struggling.
- 11:10I can see that we all have the same goals to improve our health.
- 11:14I can see that we all trying to do our best when we do a group program in at the gym I can see that everybody's struggling.
- 11:22And at the end, we all have a smile on our face when we finish that difficult task.
- 11:28I have two gym memberships to keep things spicy, just to keep things excited because I can get bored very easily and when I get bored, I'll just give up.
- 11:37So I've done a few things to make this very easy for me.
- 11:40The first thing that I have done is to really.
- 11:44Sit with the decision, right?
- 11:45Have a goal in mind.
- 11:47What is the purpose of this moving your body?
- 11:4830 day challenge, right?
- 11:51Why do I wanna do this?
- 11:52I don't wanna do this for Hahas.
- 11:53I don't wanna do this because I have nothing else to do.
- 11:56I have a specific reason why I want to turn up.
- 12:00I want to feel my best.
- 12:02I want to look my best.
- 12:04I want to be on this journey with my patients.
- 12:06I wanna show them what is possible.
- 12:08I wanna age gracefully.
- 12:10I want to better improve my health.
- 12:12Your health is an everyday process.
- 12:15It's not like you just went on the journey.
- 12:17You want, you know, embark on the program, you took some pills, you did the diet, and you're done.
- 12:23It is an everyday consistent process, and I'm always finding ways to make it better.
- 12:29Moving my body for 30 days will do exactly that.
- 12:34Now, how am I gonna get this done, so I look at the benefits and there are tons of benefits on, I love all the benefits but how am I gonna get this done?
- 12:41First, I have to look at my calendar.
- 12:44I scheduled everything on my calendar.
- 12:47My calendar is my boss.
- 12:50My calendar runs my life.
- 12:52So I look at the calendar, I look at my practice, I look at the patients that I have, what I need to do on a day to day basis.
- 12:58As many of you guys know, we only have, currently two clinic days where you can come in the clinic to receive IVs for consultation I also have patients via telemedicine as well.
- 13:11So I'm always working.
- 13:13I work five days out of the week.
- 13:15And I just take care of my patients through different avenues.
- 13:21But I have to look to see, okay, how busy am I?
- 13:24The next 30 days?
- 13:26How many patients I am helping or serving or, creating an impact for.
- 13:31So I have to look at all that.
- 13:33So I look at my professional life.
- 13:35My business, my practice, and I also look at my personal life.
- 13:38I know my son is ending school now, so therefore I don't have to wake up in the morning, drop him off, pick him up, so it's gonna be easier for me.
- 13:46So I look at my life, I look at the things that I have now and making sure that I am able to do this.
- 13:52I'm not gonna fail at this, I'm not gonna give up midway, and then I put everything on my calendar.
- 13:58If you look at my calendar, you'll see everything.
- 14:00Even my lunch is, scheduled on my calendar, my lunch and my dinner, picking up my son, dropping off my son going to the gym.
- 14:06So, and then the next thing I did, I look at the gyms that I'm gonna go to.
- 14:11I look at the classes they have.
- 14:13I know they have certain classes for weightlifting, certain classes to work on your glutes, on your tie, on your core.
- 14:20And they have Zumba and they have Group fitness classes where we are pushing things around, where we are, hitting the bags and doing, different things.
- 14:28So I look on a day-to-day basis and I just schedule according to what I have going on at the clinic in the calendar.
- 14:37So mostly I love to get my exercise done in the morning.
- 14:40So I will be going to the gym in the morning, except for Mondays.
- 14:45I have Zumba, I have abs.
- 14:47I'm working on ABS for 30 minutes.
- 14:48And then I have Zumba for an hour, so I'll be going to the gym every Monday, working on those things.
- 14:53And then Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, working on different part of my bodies, working on different muscle groups.
- 15:00And then on Friday I'm just gonna walk.
- 15:03On Saturday I have Zumba and abs, and then Sunday I'm just gonna walk.
- 15:07You see how easy that schedule is.
- 15:08I put it in my calendar, and then what I do is I look at my night with him.
- 15:13So at night I will set my clothes.
- 15:17On the bed, my gym clothes.
- 15:19On Tuesdays, I have clinic days, so therefore I'm gonna go to the gym and then take a shower at the gym and get ready for work after I finish my exercise, class, and then come straight to work after that.
- 15:33So I'm gonna have to not only prepare my gym clothes, but also prepare my work clothes.
- 15:40And then when it comes to clothing for this challenge, I.
- 15:44We're not on the journey of purchasing beautiful outfits, but beautiful gym clothes so that I can feel good in them, so that I will elevate my moods so that I can literally be empowered and motivated to get out and go to the gym.
- 15:57Because again, I don't like to work out and this is something I, I'm gonna probably have to fight myself on every day, but I will get it done.
- 16:04So I look at my attire, my undergarment, my exercise clothes, and I plan everything.
- 16:10That's my night routine.
- 16:11I have a morning routine that I wake up in the morning, spend some time with God, and then do the rest of my morning routine, and I also feed fit in.
- 16:20My exercises as well, and then work.
- 16:22And then I have to look at my meal prepping.
- 16:24So if you know me, I love to prep.
- 16:27I love to plan for success.
- 16:29So now that I'm going to the gym, um, it's gonna require for me to increase my calic intake since I don't want to lose weight.
- 16:37So therefore I'm gonna have to make sure that I have plenty of food, plenty of fruit and vegetables.
- 16:43And plenty of protein, plenty of complex carbohydrates, good fat.
- 16:47So I had to really look, go, um, to Whole Foods and say, okay, what do I need?
- 16:53And then double that cuz I don't want to be exercising.
- 16:57And then not feeding my body what it needs and losing muscle mass and losing weight and looks skinnier than I am.
- 17:02That's not the point.
- 17:04So I have to look at the meal prepping the food that I'm bringing to my clinic, the protein shakes that I'm drinking.
- 17:10Um, and I plan everything and I take everything with me.
- 17:12But the most difficult thing that I have to lose to work on my mindset, because again, it is not easy to go on a challenge like such, but I have to really work on my mindset.
- 17:23I have to.
- 17:24See how going on this challenge gonna help me stay focused, right?
- 17:28I know it's, Dante is caring, it's, I'm fearful.
- 17:32I have doubts.
- 17:33I'm like, oh my God, is it, is it, am I gonna do this?
- 17:35This is, do I really need to do this?
- 17:37I don't need to do this.
- 17:37Like so many excuses are coming up.
- 17:39But I have to see how this is gonna lead to new opportunities and opportunities for me to not only improve my health, but loving.
- 17:47The thing we call exercising, right?
- 17:50Like meeting new people at the gym, maybe you know, community, but you know, cheering for my patients and let them see how if I can do it, they can do it too.
- 18:00I'm building new skills and I'm building confidence, right?
- 18:04I'm gonna really lead to lead myself in a place that I can accomplish anything and I can do anything.
- 18:13So I had to work on that mindset.
- 18:14I had to literally journal the reasons why I wanna do this, all the things that's gonna prevent me from doing this, all the mind trauma that's coming up, and how I'm gonna comfort all of that, and how I'm gonna tackle all of that stuff.
- 18:28So that's the thing about the 30 day.
- 18:30Move your body challenge.
- 18:32I love challenges because it keeps us motivated, if you wake up every day, you always have to include little, little spurs of things to keep things excited and running.
- 18:41Running a challenge helped me accomplish exactly that.
- 18:44Keeping things excited in my life.
- 18:46So it's not boring life, it's exciting.
- 18:49I'm learning, I'm growing, I'm developing new habits.
- 18:52I'm improving my health.
- 18:54And I'm becoming a better me.
- 18:55All right, so what challenges can you run that can make you.
- 19:02A better, and improved human being.
- 19:04So it doesn't have to be a 30 day move your body challenge.
- 19:07It could be a 30 journaling challenge.
- 19:09It could be a 30 day eating healthy challenge.
- 19:11It could be a 30 day no sugar challenge.
- 19:13It could be a 10 day liver detox challenge.
- 19:15So there's so many things you can do that's gonna really put you out of your comfort zone.
- 19:20And then at the end of it, it's so rewarding and you feel great about yourself, feel good about your body, and You'll be amazed again at what the bind can accomplish, what your body can accomplish, how we can push through fear and the discomfort and come out stronger on the other end.
- 19:37So I wanted to invite you on this challenge if you wanna do that with us.
- 19:43But to also let you know that I will be documenting this whole process and our social media platforms, wellness Conj and ig, and also Facebook on my personal page, Jennifer Genty.
- 19:53I'm gonna be going live as well for 30 days as I'm doing this challenge again, I'm challenging myself very hard, so I would love for you to turn on your notification.
- 20:02See me struggle, see me winning, see me having fun.
- 20:06See me just crying, see all the things.
- 20:09You're gonna see all the things in the videos.
- 20:12So thank you so much for your support.
- 20:14And at the end of this challenge, maybe I'll do another podcast to tell you my lessons.
- 20:20What I learned from this, and if I will do it again.
- 20:23thank you so much from the bottom of my heart for listening to this episode.
