- 1:31Speaker 1: episode that leads me to believe I am wrong about
- 1:33Speaker 1: her impression of this movie. But we would love to
- 1:36Speaker 1: hear your impressions of the movie because often we disagree.
- 1:38Speaker 1: So if you agree with us, if you totally disagree,
- 1:41Speaker 1: if you think your way off face, let us know.
- 1:44Speaker 1: And with that said, I believe Wendy has a synopsis for.
- 1:47Speaker 2: This movie I do. This is mex Up, mex Up,
- 1:51Speaker 2: my goodness mix up in the Mediterranean, a small town
- 1:55Speaker 2: cook impersonates his big city chef twin to compete in
- 1:58Speaker 2: a culinary content and falls for the woman in charge
- 2:02Speaker 2: of the event who thinks he is the brother who
- 2:05Speaker 2: is married. Stars Jeremy Jordan, all right, and Jessica. What
- 2:13Speaker 2: are we going with Hair?
- 2:15Speaker 1: I'm going with Loundes.
- 2:16Speaker 2: I'm going with Lowndes. I'm sorry, I don't know your name.
- 2:20Speaker 2: I know she played Silver on the nine O two
- 2:22Speaker 2: one oh.
- 2:24Speaker 1: Series, so remay yes. And she's quite possibly the most
- 2:29Speaker 1: beautiful human on the planet.
- 2:30Speaker 2: Oh my god, those eyes are stunning. Right, It's like
- 2:33Speaker 2: I hate you a little bit. She's gorgeous. Gorgeous hair,
- 2:37Speaker 2: gorgeous eyes. Yeah, beautiful.
- 2:39Speaker 1: Anyway, speaking of beautiful, we need to jump straight into
- 2:42Speaker 1: news and notes and talk about where this movie was filmed.
- 2:47Speaker 1: A lovely Hallmark movie. Actors finally get to get out
- 2:50Speaker 1: of Canada because they filmed on location in Malta.
- 2:54Speaker 2: What.
- 2:55Speaker 1: Yes, Wow, this is a big budget movie. I mean,
- 3:01Speaker 1: you could tell that they were on location somewhere and
- 3:04Speaker 1: they were supposed to be in Malta. That's where they
- 3:07Speaker 1: had said they were going, but you know, often they
- 3:09Speaker 1: are not there. But I did look it up and
- 3:13Speaker 1: as well as went to the instagrams of both of
- 3:16Speaker 1: the lead actors, and yes, they were in Malta. It
- 3:19Speaker 1: was absolutely gorgeous. I thought they got really lucky in
- 3:23Speaker 1: terms of where they got to film.
- 3:25Speaker 2: Really, I know, I was watching the movie and I
- 3:27Speaker 2: was like, hmm, where in Canada can this speeding? It's gorgeous,
- 3:33Speaker 2: super awesome.
- 3:34Speaker 1: And it was filmed in December twenty twenty, so I
- 3:37Speaker 1: don't know what the international travel restrictions were that allowed
- 3:40Speaker 1: them to do this. But I'm very happy that they
- 3:43Speaker 1: had the opportunity to get out of the Great White North.
- 3:47Speaker 2: Yeah, that's cool. Any other news and notes?
- 3:50Speaker 1: Well, So, Jeremy Jordan and Jessica Loundes maybe Loundes both,
- 3:55Speaker 1: let's just call her Jessica have Instagram presences, which is
- 3:59Speaker 1: not all the case for these actors. And they both
- 4:04Speaker 1: sing in addition to acting, and while they were on location,
- 4:08Speaker 1: they co wrote a song about their characters what and
- 4:12Speaker 1: they recorded it. The song is called a Live and
- 4:15Speaker 1: you can stream it on Spotify. You can buy it
- 4:18Speaker 1: on iTunes. We will leave a link to it in
- 4:20Speaker 1: our show notes. You can listen on their respective instagram,
- 4:23Speaker 1: so we will also leave a link to that. I
- 4:25Speaker 1: honestly thought it was sweet. What's it called alive?
- 4:33Speaker 2: She's got a beautiful voice, trying to play the card.
- 4:41Speaker 2: We cannot stop. Hey, he's got a nice voice too.
- 4:52Speaker 1: I know.
- 4:56Speaker 2: I'm feeling like country vibes from him.
- 4:59Speaker 1: And there's I'm so pretty. I can't handle it looking
- 5:01Speaker 1: at this video.
- 5:03Speaker 2: I don't hate it.
- 5:04Speaker 1: No, I'm telling you, I know your initial reaction was
- 5:07Speaker 1: a little concerned. It was a sweet little song. I
- 5:10Speaker 1: enjoyed it.
- 5:12Speaker 2: I'm gonna definitely watch their video or whatever they made
- 5:15Speaker 2: for it.
- 5:15Speaker 1: So, yeah, there's an Instagram TV video. I think it's
- 5:19Speaker 1: worth giving it a watch, and to listen.
- 5:21Speaker 2: It doesn't sound bad to me.
- 5:23Speaker 1: No, what were your first impressions of this movie? Oh,
- 5:25Speaker 1: my gosh, I'm so nervous.
- 5:27Speaker 2: You're nervous. Yes, uh, I liked it. I thought it
- 5:31Speaker 2: was very funny.
- 5:33Speaker 1: I loved this movie. I really really did. And the
- 5:38Speaker 1: whole time I was thinking, oh, man, Wendy pisses in
- 5:41Speaker 1: my cheerios tomorrow because I'm sad.
- 5:44Speaker 2: No, I really enjoyed it. I thought it was funny.
- 5:47Speaker 2: And what I liked about it is it didn't fall
- 5:49Speaker 2: into the like it wasn't a Valentine's Day movie.
- 5:52Speaker 1: Yeah, it was just a love movie.
- 5:54Speaker 2: Yeah, so they can like show this whole anytime. It's
- 5:57Speaker 2: not just going to be in February. So yeah, I
- 6:00Speaker 2: enjoyed it quite a bit and thought it was quite funny.
- 6:02Speaker 2: I did do.
- 6:04Speaker 1: What did you like about it?
- 6:06Speaker 2: I have a nice big list, actually good. I thought
- 6:12Speaker 2: at first I didn't know their names, so I just
- 6:14Speaker 2: put Chef bro keeps speaking in French, and I thought
- 6:18Speaker 2: that was hilarious that he kept you know, I don't
- 6:22Speaker 2: even know any French words, but he kept like saying
- 6:25Speaker 2: French things, and he would be the other brother would
- 6:27Speaker 2: be like, stop doing that. You're not French, You're from Alaska.
- 6:30Speaker 1: So I love that. And I also thought, knowing absolutely
- 6:34Speaker 1: nothing about a French accent, that he had a good
- 6:37Speaker 1: French accent when he spoke in French.
- 6:40Speaker 2: I saw. I thought that was good. What about you?
- 6:43Speaker 1: Well, look, I loved Malta. It gave me the aspirational
- 6:46Speaker 1: hotel and travel content that my travel starved heart desires.
- 6:51Speaker 2: Right now, have you ever been to Malta?
- 6:55Speaker 1: No? Have you?
- 6:56Speaker 2: No? I'm not even quite sure where it's other than
- 7:00Speaker 2: the Mediterranean. Well, I did write that the beautiful scenery,
- 7:05Speaker 2: and I asked, where was this filmed? So I'm glad
- 7:08Speaker 2: that you cleared that up for me. Okay, so I
- 7:13Speaker 2: wrote down here, I like the banter between the brothers.
- 7:17Speaker 2: Are these twins playing parts? Or bravo to the actor
- 7:22Speaker 2: who is playing both parts?
- 7:24Speaker 1: It's all Jeremy, and he did such a good job
- 7:27Speaker 1: playing two parts.
- 7:29Speaker 2: Yeah, I thought, really, well, he did a good job
- 7:32Speaker 2: because you know, like, I don't know how they filmed
- 7:34Speaker 2: those twin scenes. Is he like talking with like another actor,
- 7:38Speaker 2: like is he acting off of another actor who's not
- 7:41Speaker 2: in the shot, and then they like superimpose the twin
- 7:46Speaker 2: shot on top of that. I don't know how they
- 7:47Speaker 2: do these things, but I thought he.
- 7:49Speaker 1: Was great well, based on my extensive knowledge of how
- 7:52Speaker 1: the show Live and Maddie was filmed. Typically, they use
- 7:57Speaker 1: a stand in and then there are a couple scenes
- 7:59Speaker 1: where they're hugg so you can see like the back
- 8:03Speaker 1: of a stand in's head. You know, most of the
- 8:06Speaker 1: time it's just the two scenes overlapping. I don't understand
- 8:09Speaker 1: the technology for that, but I would assume they have
- 8:13Speaker 1: to have a stand in so he knows where to talk,
- 8:14Speaker 1: so he's talking to someone. But they definitely had obviously
- 8:18Speaker 1: someone to play the back of his head.
- 8:20Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, Okay, do you like anything else? I still
- 8:23Speaker 2: have a few more.
- 8:24Speaker 1: I thought they were a well matched couple, even though
- 8:27Speaker 1: I also thought they might be a candidate for the
- 8:29Speaker 1: siblings or dating Instagram account. I thought they looked great
- 8:32Speaker 1: together and I liked their chemistry.
- 8:36Speaker 2: I wrote that too, I said there's a nice playful
- 8:39Speaker 2: energy between Meg and Josh Josh as Julian. I have
- 8:45Speaker 2: some thoughts about that later on but I thought there
- 8:48Speaker 2: was some nice energy between the two of them. So yeah,
- 8:51Speaker 2: I thought they played well off of each other. M hmm.
- 8:54Speaker 2: I loved that the story was really more about Josh
- 8:59Speaker 2: and Julian's relationship then it being about the relationship with
- 9:05Speaker 2: like a love relationship with Meg that.
- 9:07Speaker 1: Was frozen with dudes exactly.
- 9:10Speaker 2: That's exactly what I wrote, Oh my gosh, that's so funny.
- 9:14Speaker 1: I one of my favorite parts was at the end
- 9:17Speaker 1: the final cooking scene, Josh asks if he can switch
- 9:20Speaker 1: though chefs and Henry goes, oh uh a chew. I
- 9:26Speaker 1: I honestly, some of these lines could have gone so
- 9:29Speaker 1: cheesy so quickly, but I thought the humor was very
- 9:32Speaker 1: well executed.
- 9:34Speaker 2: I agree. I have so many like funny lines that
- 9:37Speaker 2: I plan to share on our Girls Gone Homework account.
- 9:41Speaker 2: So yeah, and I loved their kiss at the end.
- 9:44Speaker 2: I thought it was I thought it was great. I
- 9:47Speaker 2: thought it was good. I'd loved it.
- 9:49Speaker 1: Is that a rap on what we liked?
- 9:51Speaker 2: That's a rap on what we liked?
- 9:53Speaker 1: Time for Oh, I have so many roadblocks placed in
- 9:56Speaker 1: the way of a movie couple, but it was cilliar.
- 10:00Speaker 1: Oh blocks in like the plot of the movie, but
- 10:04Speaker 1: they all kind of play into the couple. I mean,
- 10:08Speaker 1: of course we have first, Oh, Julian hurts his back.
- 10:13Speaker 2: And then uh oh they're gonna lose the restaurant if
- 10:15Speaker 2: they don't win the competition.
- 10:17Speaker 1: Yes, and actually what we first have is, Oh, Julian
- 10:20Speaker 1: is rude to Meg at the restaurant, which to not
- 10:23Speaker 1: like him. Oh Meg assumes Josh is Julian, and Josh
- 10:29Speaker 1: gets the wristband.
- 10:31Speaker 2: Exactly, which is so funny because that just seems like
- 10:35Speaker 2: a weird uh caveat to their competition, that you have
- 10:40Speaker 2: to keep this wristband on the entire time.
- 10:43Speaker 1: Well, it was really the only way to make Josh
- 10:47Speaker 1: have to be Julian because Julian has like a minor recovery.
- 10:53Speaker 1: So yeah, they had to have some way to lock
- 10:55Speaker 1: him into place.
- 10:57Speaker 2: Go ahead, you got more.
- 10:58Speaker 1: I have Oh Meg hate a liar.
- 11:01Speaker 2: I have that too, X was a liar. This is
- 11:03Speaker 2: a potential relationship built on a lie. Yep.
- 11:07Speaker 1: Yeah, I also have oh pepe le pew titles on
- 11:10Speaker 1: Josh and Julie.
- 11:15Speaker 2: I could never understand his name when they were saying.
- 11:19Speaker 1: Dan at the end, but I just he very much
- 11:23Speaker 1: had Now if that is his actual accent. I'm a
- 11:26Speaker 1: very sorry to that actor. I don't believe that it is.
- 11:28Speaker 1: And he just had that very affected French accent, and
- 11:31Speaker 1: to me, he was Pepe the Pew.
- 11:34Speaker 2: French competitor. Earshot of conversation, he hears it. Here's a
- 11:40Speaker 2: couple of other things. Dad minimizes Meg's career. Yes, you know,
- 11:46Speaker 2: he really wasn't into her being an event planner or
- 11:51Speaker 2: whatever she really was, which I have problems with her
- 11:55Speaker 2: job duties as an event planner for this cookie competition
- 11:58Speaker 2: as well. Well.
- 12:01Speaker 1: And when he does, he's like, fine, do that and
- 12:05Speaker 1: let me give you money. I mean, I don't know
- 12:07Speaker 1: what parent isn't like, hey, you want to make it
- 12:09Speaker 1: on your own, that's amazing. Like, please take my money
- 12:12Speaker 1: and let me help you be successful. Immediately.
- 12:15Speaker 2: I want to build my own empire. I was like, oh,
- 12:20Speaker 2: an event planning empire. Guys, I mean, I guess they exist, but.
- 12:25Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, Mindy Weese, Mindy Wes.
- 12:27Speaker 2: I know that's that's the one I thought of as
- 12:30Speaker 2: soon as I said it.
- 12:31Speaker 1: But yeah, I agree, there's probably not. There aren't many
- 12:36Speaker 1: other names other than that. I have no more. Oh's
- 12:38Speaker 1: do you have more?
- 12:39Speaker 2: I got a couple. Uh uh truffles. Truffles didn't ship.
- 12:42Speaker 2: Oh yes, and now like, how okay, this is what
- 12:47Speaker 2: I wrote it down somewhere, but I don't see my
- 12:49Speaker 2: note here are truffles from a certain region? Are they from? Okay?
- 12:56Speaker 2: So she was expecting truffles from France? Is that right?
- 13:00Speaker 1: And my entertaining is like they're hard to find, like
- 13:03Speaker 1: they use like truffle sniffing dogs.
- 13:05Speaker 2: I don't know, I know, yeah, something pigs, I think
- 13:08Speaker 2: or something.
- 13:09Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, yeah.
- 13:10Speaker 2: Anyhow, so the their their friend. The other chef guy
- 13:16Speaker 2: just happens to note have a hookup for some truffle hookup.
- 13:19Speaker 1: He's got a black market truffle dealer.
- 13:21Speaker 2: Yeah, something like that. It was just funny. Oh and
- 13:26Speaker 2: this was funny too. Uh oh. Somebody sabotage the fridge,
- 13:31Speaker 2: the cook station and all their ingredients are bad. But
- 13:36Speaker 2: then they're in the like hotel kitchen, going what do
- 13:40Speaker 2: we have here? What can we put together? I'm like,
- 13:43Speaker 2: this is a cooking competition at like a world class resort.
- 13:46Speaker 2: They don't have access to extra ingredients.
- 13:50Speaker 1: Come on, yeah, that was a little even if the
- 13:54Speaker 1: cooking competition aside, you're at a beautiful resort. They're going
- 13:57Speaker 1: to have a very well stocked kitchen. You're going to
- 13:59Speaker 1: be able to find whatever you need.
- 14:02Speaker 2: Yeah, it was like she was looking through my refrigerator.
- 14:06Speaker 1: There, and we started together with one piece of chicken
- 14:08Speaker 1: and a slightly moldy piece of cheese.
- 14:10Speaker 2: Yeah, exactly, exactly so. And finally, my final oh was
- 14:20Speaker 2: at the end when they got busted, right when they
- 14:27Speaker 2: find out that there are actual twins here, Meg gets
- 14:31Speaker 2: fired or almost fired. Why would why would she have
- 14:36Speaker 2: been fired? It was just made mad?
- 14:41Speaker 1: Yes, Okay, moving on, we need to discuss that later.
- 14:47Speaker 1: I have some thoughts about that. The lightest section for
- 14:51Speaker 1: me is the what we wished for section?
- 14:53Speaker 2: Absolutely me as well.
- 14:56Speaker 1: So I was taking notes and through the first like
- 15:02Speaker 1: seventy five percent of the movie, what I was hoping
- 15:06Speaker 1: is that rather than having Josh masquerade, is Julian the
- 15:10Speaker 1: entire time, like when they're not in the competition, and
- 15:14Speaker 1: we get an answer to this, but I was like,
- 15:16Speaker 1: why can't he just be himself? Because they know the
- 15:19Speaker 1: brother is there, And at one point, Julian goes out
- 15:22Speaker 1: dressed as Josh, So I thought, if he wants to
- 15:24Speaker 1: have this connection with this person, why can't he just
- 15:28Speaker 1: switch back into his Josh persona and go hang out
- 15:31Speaker 1: with her. Of course, we get an answer to that,
- 15:34Speaker 1: and that is that she doesn't know that they're twins, which, okay,
- 15:37Speaker 1: is odd to me.
- 15:38Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't know why they didn't do that. So
- 15:42Speaker 2: you wish they would have fixed that in the story.
- 15:45Speaker 1: Well, I thought, because my biggest what I didn't like
- 15:50Speaker 1: is there are a couple like playful, cute, flirty scenes
- 15:53Speaker 1: with Meg and with Josh as Julian. And there's one
- 15:59Speaker 1: especially where they're like cooking at his station at night,
- 16:03Speaker 1: and I was like, this would be a really cute scene,
- 16:05Speaker 1: except that the man that he is supposed to be
- 16:08Speaker 1: right now is married. So it was hard for me
- 16:10Speaker 1: to be like, even though I know, I don't know.
- 16:15Speaker 1: I thought it was an odd pairing, Like we're supposed
- 16:17Speaker 1: to be rooting for this couple even though she thinks
- 16:20Speaker 1: he's married and he's pretending to be his brother who
- 16:22Speaker 1: is married. I thought maybe I could root for them
- 16:25Speaker 1: more as a couple, even though I did root for
- 16:27Speaker 1: them as a couple in spite of being a little uncomfortable,
- 16:31Speaker 1: if we had more of Josh being himself. Of course,
- 16:34Speaker 1: we find out later on that she's not supposed to
- 16:36Speaker 1: know their twins. She knows he has a brother, she
- 16:38Speaker 1: knows the brother is there, but we don't know that
- 16:41Speaker 1: it's twins. Right, so Etienne does know that they're twins. Yeah,
- 16:46Speaker 1: that was I don't know that. That's an unclosed loop
- 16:50Speaker 1: for me.
- 16:51Speaker 2: I got you. I do have some comments on that
- 16:55Speaker 2: particular scene and in our digit see that section. Okay,
- 17:01Speaker 2: I only really have one note in the wished for area,
- 17:05Speaker 2: and I'm not quite sure how to say this delicately.
- 17:12Speaker 2: So the actor playing Julian, his mannerisms were very much
- 17:19Speaker 2: of a stereotypical like caricature, do you know what I mean? Yes,
- 17:25Speaker 2: kind of feminine, a little bit flamboyant. And what I
- 17:30Speaker 2: didn't like about that is that they were almost using
- 17:34Speaker 2: it for laughs or like comedy, and because they were
- 17:38Speaker 2: so different, the brothers were so different, right, So I
- 17:43Speaker 2: just wish they didn't like play into this stereotype of
- 17:48Speaker 2: like what a gay man would be. I agree.
- 17:52Speaker 1: I that I bumped on that too, and I didn't
- 17:57Speaker 1: think you know, I know that they needed to differentiate
- 17:59Speaker 1: the tube, but I think they could have done it
- 18:02Speaker 1: in a different way. I think he did play up
- 18:05Speaker 1: those mannerisms. And I agree that it was done for
- 18:08Speaker 1: comedy and the movie was funny enough. We did not
- 18:10Speaker 1: need and I didn't find that part of it funny,
- 18:12Speaker 1: so I mean neither.
- 18:13Speaker 2: Yeah, So I just was like, why did they do that?
- 18:16Speaker 2: I mean, I wonder if it was like a director
- 18:19Speaker 2: choice or if it was an actor choice or how
- 18:23Speaker 2: you know, how they made that decision. I mean, I
- 18:26Speaker 2: get why they why they did it, but I just
- 18:29Speaker 2: wish they would have done something different.
- 18:32Speaker 1: Right, it's time for did you see that? Questions? Plot
- 18:35Speaker 1: holes and things we just need to discuss.
- 18:38Speaker 2: Okay, I have a couple. First of all, cook bro ow,
- 18:43Speaker 2: I know that's Julian He No, No, not the cook Bro,
- 18:46Speaker 2: that's not Julian Josh. He like gaffs at like the
- 18:51Speaker 2: cost of truffles, Like he should know this, right, like
- 18:55Speaker 2: he I don't cook, I know that truffles are very expensive,
- 18:59Speaker 2: Like I just like that's dumb. This don't make this
- 19:02Speaker 2: guy from this cook from Alaska be an idiot, Like
- 19:06Speaker 2: I think they even said that he got a scholarship
- 19:09Speaker 2: to this culinary school so he would know something about
- 19:13Speaker 2: truffles or at least the cost of him anyway, now
- 19:17Speaker 2: you go.
- 19:18Speaker 1: When Meg is discussing her two month rule, my brain
- 19:23Speaker 1: was like foreshadowing. I knew a return of that. I
- 19:27Speaker 1: knew exactly how it was going to play out. At
- 19:29Speaker 1: the end. You could already see the conflict, what was
- 19:32Speaker 1: going to happen, that she was going to need that
- 19:33Speaker 1: time to get over the betrayal in her mind.
- 19:36Speaker 2: I will say that was one of my favorite scenes.
- 19:38Speaker 2: At the very end, when he was like, give me
- 19:40Speaker 2: my two months, I was like, I love it. Like
- 19:44Speaker 2: that was realistic to me. It wasn't like they were
- 19:47Speaker 2: just like, Okay, now I'm in love with you, let's
- 19:49Speaker 2: kiss and be happy ever after. Like yes, I loved it.
- 19:54Speaker 1: I love that part.
- 19:55Speaker 2: Okay. So Meg and Josh as Julian are having these
- 20:00Speaker 2: big life talks, like she's telling him about her relationship
- 20:05Speaker 2: with her dad and this and that and whatever, and
- 20:07Speaker 2: to me, it borderlines romantic and intimate. And I was like,
- 20:12Speaker 2: I it's like what you said earlier, like how am
- 20:16Speaker 2: I rooting for this couple when she thinks that she's
- 20:21Speaker 2: talking to a married man, you know, Like I just
- 20:25Speaker 2: thought the scene was so weird because that's a conversation
- 20:28Speaker 2: between two people who are actually like getting to know
- 20:31Speaker 2: each other on a romantic intimate level, and like this
- 20:34Speaker 2: is just a friendship between the two of them from.
- 20:37Speaker 1: Her and we what she didn't have in this movie.
- 20:41Speaker 1: Meg's character didn't have a friend. She didn't have a
- 20:44Speaker 1: buddy to have these conversations with, so we never really
- 20:47Speaker 1: got to see her work through if she had any
- 20:52Speaker 1: feelings of conflict and her brain about Hey, I'm kind
- 20:56Speaker 1: of enjoying spending time with him, but hey, he's.
- 20:58Speaker 2: Married, right.
- 21:00Speaker 1: I don't think she ever acts inappropriately, but it's clear
- 21:06Speaker 1: that she's developing feelings for him, and I would have
- 21:10Speaker 1: liked to see kind of a discussion on her end,
- 21:13Speaker 1: because we see it happen with the brothers. Julian says like, oh,
- 21:16Speaker 1: you're you promised your girlfriend a spot on our restaurant.
- 21:20Speaker 1: So Josh sees it happening, but it's also or Julian
- 21:24Speaker 1: sees it happening. But it's also odd that Julian doesn't say, Hey,
- 21:28Speaker 1: you're playing me and I'm supposed to be married. Maybe
- 21:31Speaker 1: spending a lot of time with this woman isn't the
- 21:33Speaker 1: greatest idea. Yeah, I laughed at the chef named Patrick
- 21:39Speaker 1: O'Shea from Ireland with red.
- 21:40Speaker 2: Hair, and when they called him as a finalist, they
- 21:48Speaker 2: show him go yes, and I was like, all right,
- 21:53Speaker 2: I have here. Why would the cooking competition be outside?
- 21:58Speaker 1: I think we've seen that though, so I think I
- 22:01Speaker 1: think I've seen that on cooking shows. You're going to
- 22:05Speaker 1: use a beautiful outdoor, but then you're gonna get bugs,
- 22:08Speaker 1: and then you have to can't have temperature controlled space.
- 22:11Speaker 2: I get it, right, I mean I've watched a ton
- 22:13Speaker 2: of Top Chef and always when they have to cook outside,
- 22:17Speaker 2: it's problematic. It's not like they're in a controlled space
- 22:20Speaker 2: like an industrial kitchen. You know.
- 22:24Speaker 1: Yeah, she's not as pretty.
- 22:26Speaker 2: I get it. I get it. Okay, let's talk about
- 22:30Speaker 2: that scene and you've already touched on it when Meg
- 22:33Speaker 2: and Josh are Josh as Julian are making a hamburger
- 22:38Speaker 2: or something outside again in the cook top where there's
- 22:45Speaker 2: competition is supposed to take place, like they're using it
- 22:48Speaker 2: to make dinner. Like it was just weird, a weird choice,
- 22:52Speaker 2: but again, like it was clearly a romantic kind of
- 22:59Speaker 2: situation because you know they're like she's like pushing out
- 23:03Speaker 2: the hamburger bundo or whatever. It just was romantic and
- 23:09Speaker 2: kind of sensual. But she wasn't feeling romantic vibes because
- 23:14Speaker 2: or was she. But he's a married man, she was.
- 23:17Speaker 1: That's the part of that scene that bothered me. And
- 23:19Speaker 1: he walks around and he puts his arms around her
- 23:21Speaker 1: that kind of yes. Yes. I was like, look, this
- 23:24Speaker 1: is a very cute scene. If this were Josh as
- 23:27Speaker 1: Josh and Meg, I would have loved it. I was
- 23:29Speaker 1: totally buying into their chemistry. I just didn't like that
- 23:33Speaker 1: at that moment he was supposed to be his married brother,
- 23:36Speaker 1: and that is I don't you know. I don't know
- 23:39Speaker 1: how you make the conflict work if you know all
- 23:42Speaker 1: along that there's twins, right, but we do know that
- 23:47Speaker 1: there's brothers. She knows he has a brother. They discussed
- 23:50Speaker 1: the brother. One of the other chefs meets brother. We
- 23:52Speaker 1: all know all along that there's brothers, brothers, brothers, brothers, brothers.
- 23:56Speaker 1: I think we could have eliminated this slightly ichy factor
- 24:02Speaker 1: if when he's not himself, when he's not Julian, he
- 24:07Speaker 1: gets to be himself, and then they could be building
- 24:09Speaker 1: this relationship and you still have the lie, but.
- 24:12Speaker 2: She's actually building a real relationship with the right man, Yes.
- 24:18Speaker 1: Because I get it. Sometimes I feel like the characters
- 24:21Speaker 1: in these movies when there's a betrayal and they get
- 24:24Speaker 1: very upset. Sometimes I feel that it's overblown. But in
- 24:28Speaker 1: this case, you know, I understand her feeling of betrayal
- 24:32Speaker 1: because you know, he was pretending to be a different
- 24:35Speaker 1: person all along, and I'm sure she felt conflicted about
- 24:37Speaker 1: developing feelings for this man who is married. He puts
- 24:42Speaker 1: her in an awkward position.
- 24:44Speaker 2: Yeah, so that's when he put like got behind her
- 24:47Speaker 2: and like put his arms around her. Like I'm trying
- 24:51Speaker 2: to think of it as the perspective of me. If
- 24:54Speaker 2: I was a single woman and this married man came
- 24:57Speaker 2: and like put his arms around me like that, I
- 25:01Speaker 2: would have had some sort of like pause or some
- 25:05Speaker 2: sort of reaction, right, And we never get into the
- 25:08Speaker 2: like what she's thinking about part of it. So it
- 25:13Speaker 2: was just weird. The whole thing made me uncomfortable.
- 25:14Speaker 1: Actually, I think she needed a friend, even someone back home,
- 25:18Speaker 1: even someone she just talks to on the phone, because
- 25:21Speaker 1: we know that her boss is not someone who's kind
- 25:25Speaker 1: to her. She doesn't really have a friend other than
- 25:28Speaker 1: Josh slash Julian in this movie. And I think she
- 25:30Speaker 1: needed that so we could get that dialogue that of
- 25:34Speaker 1: working through the thought process on it.
- 25:35Speaker 2: Yeah. I think she needed like an assistant or somebody
- 25:38Speaker 2: to be like, hey, this is weird, right or I
- 25:41Speaker 2: don't know, Uh, do you have any more?
- 25:44Speaker 1: I have a small one. Chester, who is the former
- 25:47Speaker 1: winner of this competition, barges into Julian and Henry's room,
- 25:50Speaker 1: which I mean, who would do that in a hotel?
- 25:53Speaker 1: What if someone were changing? I mean he opens it
- 25:55Speaker 1: when he comes flying right in. You're in a hotel room.
- 25:57Speaker 1: Someone could be naked, or in their bathroom or walking
- 26:00Speaker 1: out of the shower. I know he needs to catch them,
- 26:04Speaker 1: but I thought nobody does that.
- 26:06Speaker 2: Nobody does that. Okay, I have a couple couple minor ones. Okay.
- 26:11Speaker 1: Uh.
- 26:12Speaker 2: Peaches, ice cream and raspberries is the final dish of
- 26:15Speaker 2: this competition, I know, I mean, come on, come on.
- 26:19Speaker 2: And then of course they make a baked Alasta. I
- 26:21Speaker 2: mean I knew that was coming. They made They did
- 26:25Speaker 2: make it like bougieed it up with like their little
- 26:28Speaker 2: glass coverings and whatever.
- 26:31Speaker 1: A beautiful baked Alaska.
- 26:32Speaker 2: But yes, of course, also the event planner, which she was,
- 26:37Speaker 2: she was reviewing the contract and found the loophole that
- 26:41Speaker 2: he could still participate in the competition. I just was like,
- 26:45Speaker 2: how many hats is she wearing?
- 26:47Speaker 1: Like well, and to your point earlier about her getting
- 26:51Speaker 1: fired because they lied, I thought, no, this is not
- 26:55Speaker 1: her fault. She didn't do anything wrong.
- 26:57Speaker 2: They cheated and boozled her.
- 27:00Speaker 1: Yes, she didn't do anything wrong, and I disliked that.
- 27:04Speaker 2: Yeah. And my last one, this was some conversation, some
- 27:08Speaker 2: dialogue between them. Josh says to her, what about us?
- 27:14Speaker 2: And she says there is no us, And I was like, duh.
- 27:17Speaker 2: She thought she had a friendship or a potential working
- 27:20Speaker 2: relationship with Julian, not Josh, and Josh was the one
- 27:23Speaker 2: that was falling in love with her. That is just
- 27:26Speaker 2: that whole component of it was such a mess.
- 27:29Speaker 1: I do think that's where these movies were not meant
- 27:32Speaker 1: to watch that closely, and we're just kind of supposed
- 27:35Speaker 1: to enjoy the chemistry and the beautiful scenery and don't
- 27:38Speaker 1: think too deeply about it and just enjoy the pretty
- 27:42Speaker 1: people in a pretty place and the kiss at the end.
- 27:47Speaker 1: I think that really played into that.
- 27:48Speaker 2: Here.
- 27:49Speaker 1: What are you going to rate this movie?
- 27:52Speaker 2: This is a solid three star movie for me.
- 27:54Speaker 1: Wow, I gave it three and a half. I liked
- 27:56Speaker 1: it more than.
- 27:56Speaker 2: Bevere Oh where did I give Beverly Hills Wedding three stars?
- 28:01Speaker 2: I thank you, Yeah, I find it on par with that.
- 28:03Speaker 2: I just there was just that one component of the story.
- 28:07Speaker 2: If they had like worked that out with the writers
- 28:09Speaker 2: about Josh and Julian, fixing that whole situation between those two,
- 28:14Speaker 2: and it would have been more for me. But three start.
- 28:19Speaker 2: I enjoyed it. I would likely throw it on again
- 28:22Speaker 2: if it was on.
- 28:24Speaker 1: So Hallmark has begun to tease their first movie outside
- 28:28Speaker 1: of the Love Ever After series, which is titled Fit
- 28:30Speaker 1: for a Prince. But I am not at this point
- 28:33Speaker 1: seeing a new series of movies, Like we don't have
- 28:36Speaker 1: Spring Fling being named yet. I don't know if that's
- 28:38Speaker 1: what's coming. It's not in the Hallmark checklist app So
- 28:43Speaker 1: we are just gonna wait and see if that's the
- 28:45Speaker 1: standalone movie or if it's a part of a new series.
- 28:47Speaker 1: But next week we have It Was Always You, featuring
- 28:51Speaker 1: Aaron Krakau and Tyler Hines, who, by the way, friends
- 28:55Speaker 1: his fans use the hashtag Heini, which is so unfortunate
- 29:01Speaker 1: because he's such a pretty man, but I have a
- 29:04Speaker 1: feeling he often plays a character who's very grumpy in
- 29:08Speaker 1: the beginning of his and I think that's the character
- 29:11Speaker 1: we're getting from the previews. But I enjoy him, so
- 29:15Speaker 1: I'll work past it again. It was always you. The
- 29:19Speaker 1: final movie in the Love Ever After series next week,
- 29:22Speaker 1: and you know we're going to be back fit for
- 29:24Speaker 1: a Prince. You know we're not going away. Even if
- 29:26Speaker 1: it's not part of a series. We would love it,
- 29:29Speaker 1: you know, we would love it if you would leave
- 29:30Speaker 1: us a rating and a review. If you take a
- 29:32Speaker 1: screenshot of your review and send it to us in
- 29:34Speaker 1: an email with the subject review, We're going to choose
- 29:37Speaker 1: five of you to send Starbucks gift cards to as
- 29:39Speaker 1: a thank you for leaving us a review because it
- 29:41Speaker 1: helps us.
- 29:42Speaker 2: Out a lot.
- 29:43Speaker 1: Until next time, take a listen to our Tuesday episode
- 29:46Speaker 1: and have a great week. Bye, goodbye.
