Transcript
- 0:08Speaker 1: Advice. Hellolololo Allo. It's Robshooter from the Naughty but Nice Podcast,
- 0:18Speaker 1: and we're here today to do a special bonus edition,
- 0:21Speaker 1: our weekend edition of our show. So as well as
- 0:24Speaker 1: being a columnist, a reporter, a columnist, I'm also a
- 0:29Speaker 1: best selling author, and today our show is going to
- 0:33Speaker 1: focus on that. Just for ten minutes or so, We're
- 0:36Speaker 1: going to jump into a subject that I think we
- 0:38Speaker 1: all need to talk about think about much more often,
- 0:42Speaker 1: which is who is the most important person in your life?
- 0:47Speaker 1: Let me cut to the chase and give you the answer.
- 0:50Speaker 1: It's you. It's impossible to treat anyone else like they
- 0:55Speaker 1: are important until you believe that you are are important.
- 1:01Speaker 1: Only when you value yourself can you understand that your
- 1:07Speaker 1: opinions actually do matter the most. Nobody else is yours.
- 1:13Speaker 1: Once you know how important your opinions are, you're going
- 1:17Speaker 1: to be much more careful sharing them with yourself and others.
- 1:23Speaker 1: Start talking to yourself like you are the most important
- 1:28Speaker 1: person in your life because you are. I wish this
- 1:32Speaker 1: is a gift I could give out or wrapped up
- 1:35Speaker 1: in a beautiful red bow, handed out to people on
- 1:39Speaker 1: their birthdays and holidays, But that is not how this works.
- 1:44Speaker 1: Believing that you are important has to start with you,
- 1:49Speaker 1: nobody else. I can't give you this as a gift.
- 1:53Speaker 1: I can't give it anybody else as a gift. But
- 1:56Speaker 1: I can give it to myself and so you. And
- 2:00Speaker 1: this actually is not such a bad thing because it
- 2:04Speaker 1: puts the power into your hands rather than anybody else's.
- 2:10Speaker 1: You and only you can walk the long, lonely road
- 2:16Speaker 1: to success. It is a lonely road because you, my friends,
- 2:20Speaker 1: have to do it just like me, by yourself. Beyonce
- 2:24Speaker 1: said the following quote. Your self worth is determined by you.
- 2:30Speaker 1: You don't have to depend on someone else telling you
- 2:33Speaker 1: who you are. Truth. I started this journey feeling about
- 2:38Speaker 1: as worthless as anybody possibly could feel, but step after step,
- 2:44Speaker 1: reminding myself along the way, somewhat unconvincingly at first that
- 2:50Speaker 1: I mattered led me to a better place. I realized
- 2:55Speaker 1: that I was running a marathon that would ultimately take
- 2:58Speaker 1: a lifetime to finish. Because learning that you are important
- 3:04Speaker 1: isn't easy. For years, we've been taught the opposite. I know.
- 3:09Speaker 1: I had to the point where most of us feel
- 3:12Speaker 1: like it is selfish to put ourselves first. This is
- 3:15Speaker 1: a bad habit, that's all. It is a bad habit.
- 3:18Speaker 1: It's not the truth. It's a bad habit that we
- 3:21Speaker 1: all need to break, because the truth is that each
- 3:25Speaker 1: and every one of us is important enough to do
- 3:29Speaker 1: whatever it takes to take care of ourselves. The Ola
- 3:34Speaker 1: Davis said quote, we are usually caretakers of everyone except
- 3:40Speaker 1: for ourselves. If I didn't take care of myself and
- 3:43Speaker 1: I'm taking care of my daughters or my husband, then
- 3:46Speaker 1: I'm running on fumes. I have nothing left, nothing left
- 3:50Speaker 1: to give. But when I take the time to take
- 3:53Speaker 1: care of myself, I feel like I can face life
- 3:57Speaker 1: with a renewed vigor and nude passion. Here here Veola.
- 4:04Speaker 1: When you live your life like you are the most
- 4:06Speaker 1: important person in it, guilty pleasures vanish pof you will
- 4:12Speaker 1: never feel guilty or embarrassed ever again to do something
- 4:16Speaker 1: that you really enjoy. Imagine valuing yourself so much that
- 4:22Speaker 1: you never need to apologize for who you are ever again,
- 4:28Speaker 1: understanding that you never had anything to be sorry for.
- 4:35Speaker 1: Once you believe that you are important, you will be
- 4:38Speaker 1: free to do the things that bring you pleasure more often,
- 4:42Speaker 1: postponing even the smallest of things that make you happy
- 4:46Speaker 1: will be a thing of the past. It is not
- 4:50Speaker 1: arrogant and it is not selfish to know that you
- 4:54Speaker 1: are the most important person in your life. This does
- 4:58Speaker 1: not diminish the importance of all the other people with
- 5:01Speaker 1: whom we share our lives, including family, friends, co workers,
- 5:05Speaker 1: and even pets. They're important, but you are more important.
- 5:10Speaker 1: In order for you to treat others with the care
- 5:12Speaker 1: and respect that they deserve, you have to start caring
- 5:16Speaker 1: and respecting yourself first. Remember that loving others is a choice, However,
- 5:24Speaker 1: it's not an option when it comes to loving yourself.
- 5:29Speaker 1: Acknowledging that you are the most important person in your
- 5:31Speaker 1: life is the ultimate selfless act. You owe it to
- 5:37Speaker 1: yourself to breathe, relax, and take the time to remember
- 5:42Speaker 1: that you are important. No one can make you feel
- 5:46Speaker 1: unimportant without your consent to stop allowing unimportant people to
- 5:52Speaker 1: make you feel unimportant. You are the boss of your life,
- 5:57Speaker 1: so be the boss you always is wanted to have.
- 6:01Speaker 1: This begins with taking responsibility for each and every decision
- 6:07Speaker 1: every day that you make and being the important force
- 6:11Speaker 1: of good in your life and the lives of others.
- 6:15Speaker 1: You're much further along on this journey than you think,
- 6:18Speaker 1: I promise you, and the Finnish line is not as
- 6:21Speaker 1: far away as what you might imagine. You can do
- 6:25Speaker 1: this because you are important. Harrison Forward said quote, May
- 6:30Speaker 1: the Force be with you is charming, but it's not important.
- 6:34Speaker 1: What's important is that you become the force for yourself
- 6:39Speaker 1: and for other people. The most important person in your
- 6:44Speaker 1: life is you. Hey, thank you so much for listening
- 6:48Speaker 1: to these little bonus editions of the podcast that we
- 6:51Speaker 1: do on the weekends. I've got to say, the numbers
- 6:53Speaker 1: are staggering. We do really well during the week and
- 6:56Speaker 1: I'm so grateful for it. To be able to bring
- 6:59Speaker 1: you celebrity ossip Monday to Friday is one of the
- 7:01Speaker 1: joys of my life. However, these special podcasts we've really
- 7:05Speaker 1: hid a nerve. I know by the response by the
- 7:08Speaker 1: numbers of people that are listening that we're really really
- 7:11Speaker 1: onto something here. So I'm going to keep doing them.
- 7:13Speaker 1: As long as you keep listening, share it with your friends.
- 7:17Speaker 1: Hopefully this will make a difference in their life too,
- 7:21Speaker 1: as it has in mine. And remember all sing along.
- 7:26Speaker 1: If you're going to be naughty, you've got to be nice.
- 7:31Speaker 1: See you Monday. It's not even nice with rah
