Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: It's your early morning praise party. I am Sherry Mackie
- 0:04Speaker 1: at his time, right now for today's word. A love
- 0:09Speaker 1: that goes after you, A love that goes after you,
- 0:15Speaker 1: Joseiah three one through two says, Then the Lord said
- 0:20Speaker 1: to me, go love your wife again. You know, there's
- 0:24Speaker 1: something deeply powerful, almost overwhelming about a love that doesn't
- 0:29Speaker 1: give up. Hoseiah's story is not just a difficult assignment
- 0:33Speaker 1: from God. It's a picture of a divine love in action.
- 0:37Speaker 1: After his wife had walked away, after she had broken covenant,
- 0:41Speaker 1: betrayed his trust, and abandoned their family, she found herself
- 0:46Speaker 1: in a place no one ever dreams of, being used, discarded,
- 0:52Speaker 1: and enslaved by all human standards. She had gone too far,
- 0:57Speaker 1: and as I would say, she stayed too long. Many
- 1:00Speaker 1: would have said she made her bed and now she
- 1:03Speaker 1: has to lie in it. Oh but God, Oh, thank
- 1:06Speaker 1: you for your love and your mercy. God told Joseah
- 1:09Speaker 1: to do something that just didn't make sense, go and
- 1:13Speaker 1: love her again, not because she deserved it, not because
- 1:16Speaker 1: she had changed, but because this kind of love reflects
- 1:21Speaker 1: the very heart of God.
- 1:23Speaker 2: So Joseah went.
- 1:25Speaker 1: He didn't just forgive her from a distance, he pursued her.
- 1:29Speaker 1: He found her in her lowest place and paid the
- 1:33Speaker 1: price to bring her home fifteen pieces of silver, a
- 1:37Speaker 1: redemption cost, a public act of grace. Can you imagine
- 1:43Speaker 1: the whispers, baby, You know, the people's were talking, the judgement,
- 1:47Speaker 1: the questions why would he go back?
- 1:50Speaker 2: Why would he want her?
- 1:51Speaker 1: But Joseah wasn't operating out of human logic. He was
- 1:55Speaker 1: operating out of divine love. Come, oh Jesus, Because while
- 1:59Speaker 1: others saw a woman and who had lost her with
- 2:01Speaker 1: God saw a daughter still worth redeeming. And the truth is,
- 2:04Speaker 1: that's our story too, whether we want to admit it
- 2:07Speaker 1: or not. At some point each of us have wondered
- 2:11Speaker 1: we chase things that didn't love us back. Hello. We
- 2:15Speaker 1: made choices that led us away from God's best. Yet
- 2:18Speaker 1: instead of turning his back on us, God came after us.
- 2:21Speaker 1: He didn't wait for us to clean ourselves up, he
- 2:24Speaker 1: didn't demand perfection before pursuit.
- 2:26Speaker 2: He met us in the middle of.
- 2:27Speaker 1: Our miss hallo somebody, and he said, you're sealed mine.
- 2:32Speaker 1: That's love that rescues, that's a love that restores, that's
- 2:35Speaker 1: a love that redeems. And now we're called to carry
- 2:39Speaker 1: that same love to a dying world. There are people
- 2:42Speaker 1: all around us who feel stuck. They feel trapped in
- 2:45Speaker 1: cycles of addiction, broken by past mistakes, weighed down by shame.
- 2:49Speaker 1: It's easy to judge from a distance. It's easy to
- 2:53Speaker 1: point the finger and pouring out where they went wrong.
- 2:57Speaker 1: But correction with our compassion rarely changes a heart.
- 3:00Speaker 2: Let me say that again.
- 3:03Speaker 1: Correction without compassion rarely changes a heart.
- 3:08Speaker 2: What transformed people, y'all, is love, not.
- 3:12Speaker 1: A weak, passive love, but a bold, pursuing, rent letless love,
- 3:17Speaker 1: A love that shows up, a love that reaches out,
- 3:20Speaker 1: a love that says I see you and you're still
- 3:23Speaker 1: worth fighting for. Being a Hoaiah means stepping into uncomfortable spaces.
- 3:28Speaker 1: It means loving people who may not love you back
- 3:30Speaker 1: right away. It means extending grace when it's not earned.
- 3:33Speaker 1: It means seeing beyond someone's current condition and believing in
- 3:37Speaker 1: who God created them to be. Because here's the truth,
- 3:41Speaker 1: none of us deserve the love we receive from Christ.
- 3:44Speaker 1: Yet while we were sinners, Christ died for us. See
- 3:49Speaker 1: that's the ultimate redemption story. That is love in its
- 3:53Speaker 1: purest form. So today I ask you who in your
- 3:57Speaker 1: life needs that kind of love. Who has been written off,
- 4:01Speaker 1: who has been overlooked, who's been pushed to the side,
- 4:03Speaker 1: who needs someone to go after them, not with judgment,
- 4:07Speaker 1: but with mercy. Will you be the person carry something
- 4:11Speaker 1: more powerful than criticism, carry something stronger than condemnation. Why
- 4:16Speaker 1: don't you carry the love of God Father? Thank you
- 4:19Speaker 1: for loving us when we were far from you, for
- 4:23Speaker 1: pursuing us, redeeming us, and never giving up on us.
- 4:27Speaker 1: Your mercy has changed our lives, and we are so grateful.
- 4:30Speaker 2: Help us to love like you love.
- 4:32Speaker 1: Give us eyes to see people the way that you
- 4:34Speaker 1: see them, not defined by their mistakes, but by their
- 4:38Speaker 1: worth and their purpose. Give us the courage to go
- 4:41Speaker 1: after the hurting, the broken, and the forgotten with compassion
- 4:45Speaker 1: and grace. Teach us to be patient, Teach us to
- 4:48Speaker 1: be kind, Teach us to extend mercy.
- 4:50Speaker 2: Even when it's difficult.
- 4:53Speaker 1: Use our lives as a reflection of your goodness, so
- 4:56Speaker 1: that others may experience your restoring power in Jesus name.
- 5:00Speaker 2: Now that's your word for today.
- 5:02Speaker 1: Take it apply to your everyday life, and you continue
- 5:04Speaker 1: to be encouraged and inspired. It is your early morning
- 5:07Speaker 1: praise party. I am Sherry Mackie
