1:50
[SPEAKER_04]: We're going to head back to 2014 and 2018 for a pair of my conversations with Del the funky homo sapi in the first one actually with Del and and Dan the Automator as Del Tron 3030.
2:03
[SPEAKER_04]: In fact, that's where we'll start on this special rewind episode.
2:07
[SPEAKER_04]: 2014, Dillon Dan got into Y, Deltron, 3030, feels political without chasing headlines.
2:15
[SPEAKER_04]: How sci-fi works best when it's really talking about right now.
2:21
[SPEAKER_04]: And why disposable music?
2:23
[SPEAKER_04]: made longevity feel like its own rebellion.
2:25
[SPEAKER_04]: This was such a fun and interesting conversation to happen.
2:30
[SPEAKER_04]: Delta on 30, 30 were honorary union tour and their sophomore record, which was like a decade after the first one and everything.
2:37
[SPEAKER_04]: They came into the WFPK studio.
2:39
[SPEAKER_04]: We got to sit down and just had this great laid-back conversation.
2:43
[SPEAKER_04]: You can also watch it all up on YouTube.
2:45
[SPEAKER_04]: Although we put it up on YouTube back in the days when you could only put up so many minutes at a time, so I think it's split into two videos, pal times have changed.
2:54
[SPEAKER_04]: But let's get into it.
2:54
[SPEAKER_04]: Let's head back to 2014 for this special rewind episode.
2:57
[SPEAKER_04]: Part one, it's Kyle Meredith with Dell the funky homo sapien and Dan the automator of Dell Tron 3030.
3:05
[SPEAKER_04]: Kyle Meredith and setting in the presence of legends.
3:09
[SPEAKER_04]: I can bestow that upon you, right?
3:11
[SPEAKER_04]: I guess.
3:11
[SPEAKER_04]: And the owner of Dell, the foggy homo sapiens.
3:14
[SPEAKER_04]: Together, right now, is Dell 2330.
3:15
[SPEAKER_04]: It's about time.
3:17
[SPEAKER_03]: It's just a little bit of a minute.
3:21
[SPEAKER_03]: minute 14 years one minute I guess when you're talking about the entire span of of time in terms of like thousands of years that's just a blin that's what that all kind of cosmos it's like everything it's just like a little bit of marker on the uh this is this barely like a day in terms of you know
3:41
[SPEAKER_04]: development.
3:42
[SPEAKER_04]: No, but it's great.
3:42
[SPEAKER_04]: Dell 232.
3:43
[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, it had, I guess, been gone long enough that the legend had taken on its own personality, you know, what everyone was thinking it could be, what everyone would want it to be, and is it ever really going to happen?
3:56
[SPEAKER_04]: Right.
3:57
[SPEAKER_04]: But you guys kind of perpetuated through the years, too.
3:58
[SPEAKER_03]: No, we thought about thought about stuff, you know, we did eventually.
4:04
[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
4:06
[SPEAKER_01]: just took a lot of work for me.
4:08
[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I'm saying?
4:10
[SPEAKER_01]: I'll set foot up for a automated tool, you know what I'm saying, a different kind of work, you know what I mean?
4:15
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not sure I'm gonna be little what you was doing when you filmed me.
4:18
[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I mean?
4:19
[SPEAKER_01]: Like what I was doing more important than that.
4:21
[SPEAKER_01]: No, I'd say it man.
4:22
[SPEAKER_01]: It was all good, it just, you know, real, he was waiting on me basically.
4:26
[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
4:27
[SPEAKER_01]: Cause he was he had already had like sketches and stuff him and Kuala has sketches done.
4:33
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know, you said you had a lot of research for it though, too, right?
4:36
[SPEAKER_04]: I've read that, like there was a lot of, you don't really think about it.
4:38
[SPEAKER_04]: Most of most lyricists, I guess, you know, it's whatever comes to heart whenever comes to mind, but you're working on a concept like this.
4:45
[SPEAKER_03]: Well, I think,
4:47
[SPEAKER_03]: you can go beyond that in the sense of like, you know, if you listen to a Dell record from his whole, any point in his career, whether it's like sleeper on my couch or something, there's a subject, and I'm not saying whatever it's timeless or not timeless, but it encapsulates a moment in time.
5:03
[SPEAKER_03]: I think a lot of the records you hear nowadays.
5:06
[SPEAKER_03]: But even whatever, it's disposable music, especially now, people have not only music, the consumers have less value, place that music, but the artists have less value on the music to putting that to a good degree on a lot of people.
5:20
[SPEAKER_03]: Not everybody, but there's a lot of records that like, I think they're going to like a, it's hot for about a minute, and this is not that kind of record, that's all.
5:30
[SPEAKER_04]: No, it's not that kind of record.
5:31
[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, you can turn on pop radio right now, and it's,
5:33
[SPEAKER_04]: And you know that you're never gonna hear that song again.
5:35
[SPEAKER_04]: And it blows my mind like my put all the time and why put the money in it if you're not shooting and making classic, you know.
5:42
[SPEAKER_01]: I think they're gonna get a proceeds that they're probably not gonna get, you know what I mean?
5:49
[SPEAKER_01]: It's just like he said.
5:51
[SPEAKER_01]: music has just been devalued.
5:53
[SPEAKER_01]: I think my theory is this like music you can't really sell it.
6:00
[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I'm saying?
6:01
[SPEAKER_01]: Because it's intangible.
6:03
[SPEAKER_01]: You can't see it.
6:05
[SPEAKER_01]: You can't hear it.
6:06
[SPEAKER_01]: You can't smell it.
6:07
[SPEAKER_01]: You can't hold it.
6:08
[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I'm saying?
6:09
[SPEAKER_01]: The only way you can hold it is if you got some kind of container to hold it.
6:12
[SPEAKER_01]: So that's what the music industry did.
6:14
[SPEAKER_01]: They came up with a container for it.
6:17
[SPEAKER_01]: and since they was the representatives of it and kind of just spoiled.
6:21
[SPEAKER_03]: But actually, one thing to that point though, they didn't come up with the container for it.
6:25
[SPEAKER_03]: That's why it is Howard and, because if the music industry had come up with the container, they would keep making money.
6:30
[SPEAKER_03]: You know what I mean?
6:31
[SPEAKER_03]: The computer industry came up with the container.
6:33
[SPEAKER_03]: and they had to work with it now, you know what I'm saying?
6:35
[SPEAKER_03]: You think so?
6:35
[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, yeah, absolutely, because the market shares iTunes, that's not the music industry, that's the computer industry.
6:41
[SPEAKER_03]: You get what I'm saying?
6:42
[SPEAKER_03]: Like now, yeah, by saying, as time has gone on, the container actually got moved away from the music industry when they had, right?
6:49
[SPEAKER_03]: And then, so that's why they're having all the problems, so that'll be right now.
6:51
[SPEAKER_04]: well in a more literal sense though you've been a kind of a proponent of getting my music for free anyway yeah and for a lot of time i mean it's not like you're the only one doing that but it almost seems like even a point of saying you know as you said you know what what's the word here's the music here's the music i'm not afraid yeah you know they're like
7:11
[SPEAKER_01]: Go ahead, you're gonna buy it.
7:13
[SPEAKER_01]: This is how I feel like once you hear what I could do, you're gonna support it.
7:18
[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I mean?
7:18
[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm not afraid to let somebody listen to it.
7:21
[SPEAKER_01]: I would wanna listen to it myself.
7:23
[SPEAKER_01]: And I find other means to find music myself.
7:26
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm no different than a lot of kids out here.
7:29
[SPEAKER_01]: You feel me, so I can understand that.
7:31
[SPEAKER_01]: You know, but like I said, like I feel like once you hear it, you're going to be like, okay, and the fact that I'm doing that and like a relate to people like that, I find a lot of people like, okay, you will real do.
7:42
[SPEAKER_01]: You ain't like other people, like I could trust you.
7:45
[SPEAKER_01]: You know, you know, you know, kids can't really trust adults, a lot of times you feel like so.
7:49
[SPEAKER_01]: As I'm getting to be more of an adult, I'm figuring that out, yeah.
7:52
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, but I guess the trust in is coming back that you'll still be able to have a career.
7:56
[SPEAKER_04]: You can put the music out there, but you're still going to find a way to support yourself.
7:59
[SPEAKER_03]: It's all very complicated.
8:00
[SPEAKER_03]: I think this is a way to put it, but I think the need to make the music and have it be heard under the circumstances for which things are going on right now is just makes it part of the whole deal.
8:11
[SPEAKER_03]: And part of what we have to deal with, I mean, realistically speaking,
8:16
[SPEAKER_03]: The market share of the record business has shrunk almost like 20, whatever percent Right, right, I don't know how many years and so there is there is that issue You know, I mean and people do have to understand they eventually aren't as kind of for it to make what they want to make Based on financial You've got to do the other ways right constraints, but at the same time.
8:37
[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, all that Is how it is right now, so that's what makes sense
8:42
[SPEAKER_04]: Well, I want to come back around to the new record with event too.
8:45
[SPEAKER_04]: It was more or less written over a long period of time.
8:47
[SPEAKER_04]: And when you're working on a concept, I don't like that.
8:50
[SPEAKER_04]: How do you keep a cohesive?
8:52
[SPEAKER_04]: Because it seems like to be in such a mindset would be really taxing to have to go back into that over and over and over just to complete the piece.
9:03
[SPEAKER_04]: It is.
9:04
[SPEAKER_03]: But I will say this, Delta only one thing one day, and to me, it kind of sums it all up.
9:10
[SPEAKER_03]: Obviously things change over years, so your point of view changes over year, over the years, but in actual practice, all the Delta on stuff is just about the nature of man.
9:20
[SPEAKER_03]: In the nature of man, that's something we have to...
9:23
[SPEAKER_03]: cultivated whatever it just is.
9:25
[SPEAKER_03]: Doesn't matter who's an office right it's going to sell to me like that right and once and once I understood that it's like we could go anywhere with the thing because it's if it's like about wars or it's political or it's about love or whatever about money it doesn't really matter the bottom underlying the underlying point is still the nature of man and
9:42
[SPEAKER_03]: That's not something you have to work to keep together.
9:46
[SPEAKER_01]: It's more cohesion in terms of style, it's in terms of subject matter, I would say.
9:50
[SPEAKER_01]: I've met a few people, like the count of one hand, probably, that are probably like the worst people that I've ever met in my entire life.
9:59
[SPEAKER_01]: They're like my examples of what I don't want to be, right?
10:03
[SPEAKER_01]: And what I feel like nobody else should want to be either, you know what I'm saying?
10:06
[SPEAKER_01]: Like complete psychopaths.
10:09
[SPEAKER_01]: So, any story that I would like to be eight, they get, that's all right, man, that gift, you know what I'm saying?
10:16
[SPEAKER_01]: I could keep on generating stories forever and ever, off just a few people and just change the name, change the scenario a little bit, you know?
10:24
[SPEAKER_01]: Because it's all the same pretty much, you know, it's just how you get from A to C, what B is going to be.
10:31
[SPEAKER_01]: That's really the me that it, you know, just like he said basically.
10:37
[SPEAKER_03]: I expected to have a certain quality of a rhythmic thing because it's the round part of it, but also subject matter.
10:44
[SPEAKER_03]: And beyond that, like I said, the overriding subject exists for all of us.
10:50
[SPEAKER_03]: It's just the details at that point.
10:52
[SPEAKER_04]: is it too narrow than to call you guys a political group?
10:55
[SPEAKER_04]: No, I think it's very political.
10:56
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, everything is politics double going.
10:59
[SPEAKER_03]: No, I think it's very political.
11:00
[SPEAKER_03]: I think that like the difference between our record and like whatever another record, like for example, if you're like, I'm going to go to a club, you know, smoke a bunch of weed, do Molly, and pick up girls.
11:12
[SPEAKER_03]: That's a lifestyle record, you know what I'm saying?
11:14
[SPEAKER_03]: And they may not be worried about.
11:16
[SPEAKER_03]: the repercussions of this or the whatever of that.
11:19
[SPEAKER_03]: And that's fine.
11:20
[SPEAKER_03]: You know what I mean, that is what it is.
11:21
[SPEAKER_03]: This one on the hand we're thinking about what's going on.
11:24
[SPEAKER_03]: So I approach it from that point of view.
11:26
[SPEAKER_03]: By nature makes it political versus what's going on in the market on the other side of the market.
11:31
[SPEAKER_03]: Right.
11:32
[SPEAKER_03]: Now, if.
11:33
[SPEAKER_03]: If you thought we were like, or if we were to say like, we were always pulling the climb out and say, that's not exactly what we were doing.
11:38
[SPEAKER_03]: I think there's a bit of fantasy to the whole thing, except for the fact that as time has gone on, things happen, you start to see how it all relates to real life, because it was an observational record.
11:48
[SPEAKER_03]: So by nature, an observational record has a sort of political bend to it, because what you observe and how you interpret it, makes it that way versus someone going like,
11:58
[SPEAKER_03]: I got 22 frames, I got money and I'm gonna go smoke Molly, it's like there's a rough night for somebody I mean, you know, but when you do that you're not you're
12:16
[SPEAKER_03]: wasn't you coming from internal like yes, you know, I mean you're not you're not looking at the external forces It's all it's all internal lifestyle thing at that point and since I'm gonna say 75 80% of records that like especially rap records kind of go right for that side Then are the other 15 political is like a nautical.
12:33
[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
12:33
[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, it's all political in that in that way.
12:35
[SPEAKER_03]: So yes
12:37
[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, if you will look at the broadsense then it's, you know, your version of the future is a pretty grim look at the future, but if you're calling that, you know, just taking from the present, I mean, your vision of the present is looking pretty bad, too, and not to say that, you know, but it's an evening, that's true.
12:53
[SPEAKER_04]: How's he stuff out there?
12:54
[SPEAKER_04]: No, I'm on your side on that.
12:55
[SPEAKER_03]: I don't think we made up.
12:57
[SPEAKER_03]: anything that doesn't have a seat of truth in the present in the future.
13:02
[SPEAKER_03]: You know what I'm saying?
13:03
[SPEAKER_03]: Like, I don't think anything has.
13:04
[SPEAKER_03]: It was the past year, exactly right.
13:05
[SPEAKER_01]: There was my goliens or whatever around shop and fool's heads off.
13:09
[SPEAKER_01]: No, exactly.
13:11
[SPEAKER_03]: I think I think pretty much.
13:14
[SPEAKER_03]: science fiction as we learned this record kind of is in terms of that I think we thought it was futuristic when we made made the first one other futuristic romper whatever where it's more science fiction and science fiction kind of only really works well
13:29
[SPEAKER_03]: when the president is established right so for the so the future has something to bounce off of and the future is generally a commentary on the president generally you know what I mean and so I think with that in mind all the stuff that we're talking about here there may be a futuristic creature involvement or whatever but it's more of a metaphor than more than anything else towards going on right now on some level if not all levels
13:51
[SPEAKER_03]: Well, guess what?
13:51
[SPEAKER_04]: I'm really asking you for you guys personally.
13:53
[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, is there any optimism?
13:55
[SPEAKER_04]: Do you wake up and read the news and go, man?
13:57
[SPEAKER_04]: You know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you don't watch.
14:00
[SPEAKER_04]: You don't get that bad.
14:01
[SPEAKER_03]: You don't get a bad if you read the news.
14:03
[SPEAKER_03]: Turn the bush notifications off on your phone and everything like that.
14:06
[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, you know, none of everything is bad.
14:09
[SPEAKER_03]: Obviously, things are good all over the place, but there is a lot of, especially on the upper end of power.
14:13
[SPEAKER_03]: There's a lot of abuse of power.
14:15
[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, this is days after the Hobby Lobby thing, it's got to be really talking exactly.
14:19
[SPEAKER_03]: And which is, but once again, it's a nature man, it's the money, again, who's paying the money to make them go that, you know, say that.
14:25
[SPEAKER_03]: And that's where you get, you know, we get,
14:29
[SPEAKER_03]: Supreme Court just scissor whatever like oh we're politically party affiliate.
14:33
[SPEAKER_03]: Why are we doing this?
14:34
[SPEAKER_03]: It's because that's who funds us are like and then it's like it's all like already.
14:39
[SPEAKER_01]: We already know that I'm not even chirping.
14:41
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not surprising to me.
14:43
[SPEAKER_01]: But none of that is based upon my day-to-day life and what I've got to do.
14:47
[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I'm saying?
14:48
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, none of that is going to affect me pretty much.
14:50
[SPEAKER_01]: Like if I'm going to go eat something, mum will find a way to go eat something.
14:53
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't really care about all this other stuff.
14:56
[SPEAKER_01]: Like it's up to you as a personal individual.
14:59
[SPEAKER_01]: What's you going to do despite what's going on around you?
15:02
[SPEAKER_03]: No, you definitely have to carve out your life because otherwise it becomes despair.
15:05
[SPEAKER_03]: You know what I mean?
15:06
[SPEAKER_03]: And also the other part of what it is is like we live in
15:10
[SPEAKER_03]: in the United States, which has a semblance of a lower middle and upper class, it's when you get to the countries that don't have the middle class, is when you really see the oppressive nature of stuff, and we see it, and we complain about it, but it's in a way
15:27
[SPEAKER_03]: We're especially in the middle, you're in the bubble of like, what we doing, okay, we have some stuff going on.
15:32
[SPEAKER_03]: We're not, you know, but it's an illusion.
15:34
[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, exactly, it's an illusion, hope is also an illusion of hope for the lower class because a poor person, it's a really takes a lot to imagine.
15:40
[SPEAKER_03]: You're going to be super rich, but it doesn't take so much to imagine that you might be a kind of middle class.
15:44
[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, it's the character they're dealing with in front of you.
15:47
[SPEAKER_03]: And the thing is, as they crush the middle class, it does, and when it becomes crushing countries, that's when you get,
15:53
[SPEAKER_03]: the adarchy actually because people are like we will never be that let's blow this all up.
15:59
[SPEAKER_03]: Exactly.
16:00
[SPEAKER_01]: That's always the same around it, you know.
16:02
[SPEAKER_01]: I thought there's a weird trend around where I live at where I'm starting to see people walking down the street with their whole life in like suitcases.
16:11
[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I mean?
16:12
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm like damn, like fresh new, you know what I'm saying?
16:15
[SPEAKER_01]: Like, so it's not like they've been homeless for hell of longer than nothing.
16:19
[SPEAKER_01]: They're like just newly homeless and just looking like real mad, like, you know.
16:23
[SPEAKER_01]: Tell quick Detroit, fellow part.
16:25
[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
16:26
[SPEAKER_03]: You know?
16:26
[SPEAKER_03]: Well, they were being the auto industry went down there.
16:28
[SPEAKER_04]: That was a reason, but it's kind of like that you talk about just, you know, fresh on that, you know, people just happening like that in such a quick, yeah.
16:34
[SPEAKER_01]: And I've never seen that before, so I'm looking at like damn, man.
16:38
[SPEAKER_01]: That's messed up, you know, the freeway is over here like I see lines people like they're starting to have like a little camp out over there You feel me like I'm like damn it's crazy and we'll be right back right after this
16:51
[SPEAKER_04]: Welcome back, it's Kyle Meredith, rewind episode with Diltron 3030.
16:56
[SPEAKER_04]: Nothing's really changed, politically, since event 1 to event 2.
17:00
[SPEAKER_04]: Well since now.
17:01
[SPEAKER_04]: It's just a ride, but you know, you know, you're in smaller context hip-hop itself does seem like a change.
17:07
[SPEAKER_04]: What I found out is it almost seems like a lot of mainstream hip-hop is finally catching up.
17:12
[SPEAKER_04]: to what you guys started around the first time.
17:15
[SPEAKER_04]: You look at the mega giants and you know, you have to invoke the names, J.C. and Kanye.
17:20
[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, what they're doing sounds more indie than anything that's happened.
17:23
[SPEAKER_01]: That's off the old, that's because for one, they rich, and then against Kanye, and I guess J.C. you film me, I like them or whatever, but I just feel like
17:34
[SPEAKER_01]: What else you want to do if you want to be hit, you know what I'm saying?
17:38
[SPEAKER_03]: Exactly.
17:39
[SPEAKER_03]: When you start doing beach chair in all that crap, where it was like after the blackout, where it's like the kingdom come, where you start to be, on this last record you did, the magna cart.
17:50
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
17:51
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm the magna cart of record.
17:53
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm the magna cart of record.
17:56
[SPEAKER_03]: I'm the magna cart of record.
17:58
[SPEAKER_03]: I'm the magna cart of record.
18:00
[SPEAKER_03]: He did something that he didn't do like when he was doing something with Chris Martin so before he did shit Where he literally was like I think I'm Picasso baby talking about is having a having a um
18:10
[SPEAKER_03]: a basket in his kitchen and glue your kid, you lean on it.
18:15
[SPEAKER_03]: That's cool because that's real life, it's funny and it's witty.
18:18
[SPEAKER_03]: The other stuff was when you're just rich and you're like, like, I could picture that scene, like, you know what I'm saying, they're in breakfast and the kids leaning on the fucking $5 million post, you know, thinking, I'm like, okay, you know, you come to terms with that, whereas before between the black album and then there was moments, but I don't think he had come to terms with how they're like,
18:38
[SPEAKER_03]: lifestyle where like your lifestyle is so beyond all everyone else's lifestyle that people can't relate so what but they got to that point where you finally like you can inject put the two together because jazzy is probably the best rapper there's ever been in terms of like lyric changing styles all this stuff you know just and and it was that period between what I was like you know I just can't get into it I mean there's a few songs like blue magic rock boy a couple songs but it was because I don't think he had come to terms with with money you know I mean like I got all the money I can do whatever
19:09
[SPEAKER_03]: What is there?
19:10
[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, you're wiser to round by, you know what I mean?
19:12
[SPEAKER_03]: It's like, I knew stuff he was writing about, he was rather than about like, he had a, he had a song called Big Spender with them.
19:18
[SPEAKER_03]: Right, right.
19:19
[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, no, you like that.
19:20
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, with freeway.
19:21
[SPEAKER_03]: Freeway is making that bullshit because he doesn't have that money, but JZ really has that money.
19:24
[SPEAKER_03]: He's like, I don't buy out the buy out the buy out the bar.
19:26
[SPEAKER_03]: I'm like, he's talking about the spotting pig.
19:28
[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, I mean, you're like, I don't have that restaurant.
19:30
[SPEAKER_03]: You know what I mean?
19:31
[SPEAKER_03]: It's like, okay, you know what I mean?
19:32
[SPEAKER_03]: But that's the only time it really worked.
19:34
[SPEAKER_03]: You know what I mean?
19:34
[SPEAKER_03]: I don't buy out the bar, I buy out the
19:39
[SPEAKER_03]: But then the good other stuff is like, I don't want to know about, you know, the gas mileage on your G5 or something.
19:45
[SPEAKER_03]: Because it doesn't come in the terms with it to bring it down to a level where I can picture it.
19:50
[SPEAKER_03]: Even though I live in it, I can picture it.
19:52
[SPEAKER_03]: I kind of got into it.
19:53
[SPEAKER_04]: I think a lot of musicians have that problem.
19:54
[SPEAKER_04]: And once you become super successful and you've lived the life, like, how do you relate anymore?
19:59
[SPEAKER_04]: You know, when are you writing about at that point?
20:01
[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, it's a road song, you know?
20:02
[SPEAKER_04]: That's what you do, it's a road song.
20:04
[SPEAKER_03]: a lot of people write about being on tour and a lot of people write about tour life and you know what besides the worn out country singer I think that's the only time it really works you know I'm saying like the worn out country singer talking about living life on the road somehow that seems part of the mythology everyone else I don't know yeah I mean yeah I mean if it's real it's real so but if it's real but to relate to it I'm talking about it's a relation relating to it as a listener you know I'm saying I say well hard work
20:33
[SPEAKER_01]: However, you do that hard work.
20:36
[SPEAKER_01]: If you sing about it, somebody will be like, yeah, I feel you man, I got to get it and go to work too, you know what I'm saying?
20:40
[SPEAKER_04]: Okay, so it gives me the idea to hope at least with what what the big guys are trying to hip-hop now like, you know, with any genre of music, you kind of stall every 15 years, a 10 years or
20:50
[SPEAKER_03]: What are we gonna do now?
20:52
[SPEAKER_03]: Why me, I think it's worth a clam rock line.
20:54
[SPEAKER_03]: We're at the clam rock version of hip hop, right now.
20:57
[SPEAKER_03]: We got rap guys wearing leggings, man.
20:59
[SPEAKER_03]: You can't wear that in the hood, or you know what I'm saying?
21:01
[SPEAKER_03]: It's like, there's something else they say.
21:02
[SPEAKER_03]: It's gone because you can go back and up.
21:04
[SPEAKER_03]: You don't.
21:05
[SPEAKER_03]: Watch out, she can back and up.
21:08
[SPEAKER_04]: Well, so the second time now around on Deltron, I mean, you have three amazingly talented guys at everything you do and you know, and everybody kind of does their own different thing.
21:19
[SPEAKER_04]: Has it ever been an issue though, where you're stepping over each other?
21:21
[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, I don't know how well you guys worked together.
21:23
[SPEAKER_03]: It seems like you've got to really shut you down.
21:25
[SPEAKER_03]: But actually, not at all, not at all, that's not even a concern.
21:28
[SPEAKER_03]: If anything, we push each other to go further, I mean, like, it's like, I do something, it switches, or we talk about something, he'll do something else, which is up to make it go, and then he'll do something, you know, it's always, yeah, it's more additive, if then subtractive, if anything.
21:42
[SPEAKER_01]: I think we all have fun doing it, and we've got a level of respect for each other to wear.
21:47
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think it just naturally works, you know.
21:50
[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
21:51
[SPEAKER_04]: Is there a level of success that's part of the game at any point in the mindset?
21:55
[SPEAKER_04]: Like, you could call you guys a super group.
21:58
[SPEAKER_04]: but it's almost like a cult super group, you know, and then there's a mainstream type of thing, is there anything to say, and you know what?
22:04
[SPEAKER_04]: We have all the foundation set.
22:06
[SPEAKER_04]: We could be on the top of the top 40 charts if we wanted to.
22:09
[SPEAKER_04]: We done that already.
22:10
[SPEAKER_04]: You already done that, so it's, you know.
22:12
[SPEAKER_01]: Is that what you know about that?
22:13
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, you know, I mean, for me, it's just about making good music here.
22:17
[SPEAKER_01]: And really, if a music lover,
22:21
[SPEAKER_01]: feels what I'm doing.
22:22
[SPEAKER_01]: You know, because I'm still a music writer.
22:24
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm still a fan.
22:25
[SPEAKER_01]: So like I got that kind of attitude You know, I mean, and just you know Me parsley, I like to keep it grind me.
22:33
[SPEAKER_01]: I like to keep it kind of gritty.
22:34
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I mean, but that's just where I'm from
22:36
[SPEAKER_01]: So that's what I relate to.
22:37
[SPEAKER_01]: So people could still like see me on the street.
22:40
[SPEAKER_01]: They could still walk up to me Talk to me.
22:42
[SPEAKER_01]: They want some advice or something.
22:44
[SPEAKER_01]: You know, so maybe a young cat want to highlight me It's um, you know, I was riding down the block one day and this cat that was working in the barbershop scene He's skating down the street came out.
22:53
[SPEAKER_01]: He's like, oh, what's up?
22:54
[SPEAKER_01]: Stop.
22:54
[SPEAKER_01]: It was like, oh, he was cool You know, I mean his name was Panther actually he had some records too So he's like, man next time you come to look you here something but like that was just like
23:04
[SPEAKER_01]: You know, I mean as long as that could still happen, I'm who because that's what it's about to me.
23:10
[SPEAKER_04]: It's a formula for longevity as what I see you guys on.
23:13
[SPEAKER_04]: Whereas we were talking about, you know, at the beginning of the interview, the top 40 folks, you know you're not going to hear that stuff.
23:17
[SPEAKER_03]: So let's true, they come and go as they come and go.
23:19
[SPEAKER_03]: They're super talented one state.
23:21
[SPEAKER_03]: You know, I mean, there's people who make pop music that would never listen to ever, but they make great hooks, they're great songs.
23:27
[SPEAKER_03]: They stay too, you know.
23:28
[SPEAKER_01]: It's really up to the people and that's that's pretty much what I'm saying like if the people want you around They're gonna buy your stuff.
23:34
[SPEAKER_01]: They're gonna support you if they don't want you there ain't nothing you can do You know, I don't care how well you advertise how how clean you think you are if I say no I'm not buying your stuff
23:46
[SPEAKER_01]: You know, it's like, like, for instance, Earl sweatshirt.
23:49
[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I'm saying, I love Earl sweatshirt.
23:51
[SPEAKER_01]: I bought his album twice.
23:53
[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I'm saying?
23:53
[SPEAKER_01]: I could have downloaded it easily, just like I downloaded anybody else album.
23:57
[SPEAKER_01]: I waited for his album to come out.
24:00
[SPEAKER_01]: It was an event.
24:01
[SPEAKER_01]: I bought it digitally when I was in the store doing an autograph sign and there's something I actually bought the physical copy again there just because I wanted to listen to it going home and I was in there.
24:12
[SPEAKER_01]: So I was like, okay, how am I supposed to get his real album now?
24:16
[SPEAKER_01]: like, oh, I get to read his lyrics, you know what I'm saying?
24:18
[SPEAKER_01]: Like, just like, old days, but like, that's because I'm a fan of him and I want to get no matter if I could have downloaded it or not.
24:25
[SPEAKER_01]: So I feel like other fans are like, that's a way to have one.
24:29
[SPEAKER_01]: They really love, you know, I'm right.
24:31
[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
24:32
[SPEAKER_03]: No, it's an interesting time when you have like, you know, people,
24:37
[SPEAKER_03]: people have not reconciled the love of music with just the world right now like the current the kids I guess who I'm saying because like this whole like you know party party party DJ thing where there's like there's no actual like real hooks and music is especially the bass stuff it's like it's it's about party and it's not about the music and and music style yeah music music is a component of it but the real thing is about the party in the lifestyle but at the
25:06
[SPEAKER_03]: every one of these people would feel somewhat a little weird if they walked into the local supermarket and there was no like, you know, um, elevated mischievous right.
25:14
[SPEAKER_03]: So they haven't quite reconciled it because like, I recognize immediately when I walk into like a big supermarket and nothing's playing how it's a little weird.
25:21
[SPEAKER_03]: You know what I mean?
25:22
[SPEAKER_03]: And they do too, but they just haven't
25:24
[SPEAKER_03]: It's a party crowd, and it's actually a lifestyle part of it, which is overtaking the interest in music, like in live acts, you got pop, pop acts.
25:34
[SPEAKER_03]: I know my friend was on tour with the entrepreneur, but one of the big festivals he was doing, like Kings Lee, I was on there, right?
25:42
[SPEAKER_03]: And people were just lukewarm to Kings Lee on until they did the...
25:48
[SPEAKER_04]: The banker for the four right right and then then people like go on crazy.
25:51
[SPEAKER_04]: It's like that's they're boring man to watch you by the way I've seen them, but I mean they have here records.
25:56
[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, right?
25:56
[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, you would think people would like you for the music factor and then they're waiting for the floor and the floor to get you like They've always been that way.
26:02
[SPEAKER_01]: No, it has not been because our member there was a time where
26:07
[SPEAKER_01]: That beat you got to had that crazy beat was that crazy beat that for on the floor.
26:11
[SPEAKER_01]: One
26:24
[SPEAKER_03]: You're not wrong about that, but at the same time, people can go see Harry Potter doing their PC, whatever.
26:28
[SPEAKER_03]: As a joint, a man who has hit number one records could play the hit number one record.
26:32
[SPEAKER_03]: They're hitting number one record.
26:33
[SPEAKER_03]: You know what I mean?
26:34
[SPEAKER_03]: Right, right.
26:35
[SPEAKER_03]: And now they're getting a little more response until they change it to a banger.
26:38
[SPEAKER_03]: You know what I mean?
26:39
[SPEAKER_04]: And that's not necessarily in the festival setting.
26:41
[SPEAKER_04]: When you're there, not just to see one ban, when you're there, to live the life.
26:44
[SPEAKER_04]: Exactly.
26:45
[SPEAKER_04]: Exactly.
26:45
[SPEAKER_03]: Exactly.
26:46
[SPEAKER_03]: And that's not normal.
26:47
[SPEAKER_04]: That's right.
26:48
[SPEAKER_04]: We're in that work in progress moments.
26:51
[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, without a doubt.
26:52
[SPEAKER_03]: It's like, see, the thing is not everyone's meant to make that music.
26:54
[SPEAKER_03]: You know what I mean?
26:55
[SPEAKER_03]: That man doesn't meant to make that music.
26:56
[SPEAKER_03]: That man doesn't meant to do the record.
26:58
[SPEAKER_03]: They sell millions of records.
26:59
[SPEAKER_01]: Like this in the 2014, you know, and that's, that's how it was with disco and what happened.
27:04
[SPEAKER_01]: It got to the point where I don't want to buy none of it.
27:07
[SPEAKER_01]: And then the whole industry crashed until hip hop came basically and saved it.
27:12
[SPEAKER_01]: That's pretty much, you know.
27:14
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I was just saying though.
27:15
[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, I think that was happening with hip hop, basically.
27:18
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, when I was talking about hip hop,
27:21
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm just saying every time period that point where it's like, okay, you, you've overstayed.
27:28
[SPEAKER_03]: Now, where at that point where where like the hip-hop biggest hip-hop, some of the biggest hip-hop artists are like the equipment of like poising and winger or whatever, that's what they're doing.
27:37
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I really hope these conversations happen in the tour about Zelda songs.
27:42
[SPEAKER_04]: I could tell, I love this.
27:44
[SPEAKER_04]: Guys, we got to wrap it up, but I again thank you guys so much for existing and being a group together and doing everything you do.
27:50
[SPEAKER_04]: I know there's a lot of projects beyond this, but event 2 is fantastic and it was so awesome if you guys stick around.
27:55
[SPEAKER_04]: Thank you guys.
27:56
[SPEAKER_04]: Thank you.
27:57
[SPEAKER_04]: And we'll be right back right after this.
28:00
[SPEAKER_04]: All right, welcome back.
28:01
[SPEAKER_04]: Now it's time for part two.
28:02
[SPEAKER_04]: We go from 2014 to 2018 when I caught back up with Dell the funky homo sapiens.
28:08
[SPEAKER_04]: This was right after a big fall that he had done.
28:11
[SPEAKER_04]: He was on stage with the grillers and fell off the stage.
28:13
[SPEAKER_04]: There were a lot of medical complications that came with that and and some depression as well.
28:18
[SPEAKER_04]: So we talk about that.
28:19
[SPEAKER_04]: We talk about using Battle Rapp as creative fuel.
28:22
[SPEAKER_04]: He had had a cameo and Jonah Hills mid-90s movie so let's get into part two It's Kyle Meredith with Dell the funky homo sapienne.
28:31
[SPEAKER_03]: Hey, Dell how are you?
28:33
[SPEAKER_03]: I'm on there.
28:33
[SPEAKER_03]: It's good to hear from you again.
28:35
[SPEAKER_04]: How a how's the recovery coming?
28:37
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm doing a lot Coming along for you.
28:40
[SPEAKER_02]: Pretty good.
28:41
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I've got a cat that helped me with my trauma and she had no anxiety
28:44
[SPEAKER_02]: I think I heard her jumping on some shit.
28:47
[SPEAKER_02]: Now I think that's up now.
28:48
[SPEAKER_02]: There you are.
28:49
[SPEAKER_02]: She just still can't shove got it from the shelter, so she's still able to scare me.
28:53
[SPEAKER_04]: I've got it.
28:54
[SPEAKER_04]: So it's a cat to help you with the trauma?
28:56
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
28:57
[SPEAKER_02]: How does that work?
28:58
[SPEAKER_02]: What's the idea there?
29:00
[SPEAKER_02]: Well, you got a care for a jet.
29:02
[SPEAKER_02]: So just keep my head out.
29:03
[SPEAKER_02]: Just keep my head out of my house.
29:05
[SPEAKER_02]: You know what I'm saying?
29:06
[SPEAKER_02]: No, I have time to be depressed with it.
29:08
[SPEAKER_02]: You know what I'm saying?
29:09
[SPEAKER_02]: Like the cat is going to starve to death.
29:12
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm sitting up the press, like, well, it's me, you know what I'm saying?
29:15
[SPEAKER_01]: I start my dad at home, like, all day, every day, like a little box and he'll be dead.
29:19
[SPEAKER_02]: You know what I'm saying?
29:20
[SPEAKER_02]: All day, every day, it's not just all me.
29:23
[SPEAKER_02]: Plus, you know, the chat will eventually, where she could come to go, she'll be a parent, you know what I'm saying?
29:28
[SPEAKER_04]: So, how far are you from, whatever point you're trying to get to in the recovery?
29:34
[SPEAKER_02]: Basically, I could do pretty much what I was doing before, just in pain.
29:38
[SPEAKER_02]: I can't imagine I'd go, my life.
29:41
[SPEAKER_04]: Interesting timing.
29:41
[SPEAKER_04]: I actually just had Damon on the show.
29:43
[SPEAKER_04]: So something in the universe, kind of all putting this together at once.
29:46
[SPEAKER_04]: I can't guess.
29:48
[SPEAKER_04]: But we'll kind of roll into this new album, though, because Gate 13, you got this collaboration with Amplife.
29:56
[SPEAKER_04]: I've loved it.
29:57
[SPEAKER_04]: Just kind of headed on repeat the last few weeks.
30:00
[SPEAKER_04]: I'd love to know how this came about, how this collaboration with AMP came about, what did he bring to the table that you latched onto?
30:08
[SPEAKER_02]: I've known AMP for quite a while, and we kind of got the same type of love for gadgets and music and music to musical techniques and musical equipment and stuff like that.
30:20
[SPEAKER_02]: So I've always kind of just related to with them just on that level.
30:25
[SPEAKER_02]: But we always kind of struggled ideas about working on stuff.
30:28
[SPEAKER_02]: Now, I've done a few little what-offs with them, you know, I'm in here and there.
30:32
[SPEAKER_02]: But like, he, he happened to call me and was asking me to do a verse for something that we had and I did it and we did that to talk and just shopping it up.
30:41
[SPEAKER_02]: And I was not telling him my overall approach I guess as far as
30:47
[SPEAKER_02]: Well, I'm trying to take my music, you know, I'm in from now on, which is basically pretty much minimalistic, you know, I'm in, like, just what you mean, you know, I'm saying I'm kind of tired of all this, the million dollars to make a record.
31:00
[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
31:01
[SPEAKER_02]: Well, I was in, like, they don't impress me.
31:02
[SPEAKER_02]: So, I guess you kind of felt me and kind of was new to the round and came up with some ideas.
31:09
[SPEAKER_02]: coming from his perspective of what I was talking about, and I liked it, you know, and we just kind of just started working on stuff.
31:16
[SPEAKER_02]: Actually, I remember something else too.
31:18
[SPEAKER_02]: I let him hear some of the stuff that I was doing.
31:20
[SPEAKER_02]: It kind of given my idea what I was talking about.
31:23
[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, thought it was fire, and he was like, you should let me mix some of it.
31:26
[SPEAKER_02]: I was like, okay, that's cool.
31:28
[SPEAKER_02]: And then from there, I think you got the idea to kind of come up with some stuff.
31:32
[SPEAKER_02]: We just started sending me beef.
31:33
[SPEAKER_02]: I just started working with them on that.
31:35
[SPEAKER_02]: And by the time you looked up, we had a album.
31:37
[SPEAKER_02]: Pretty much.
31:38
[SPEAKER_02]: That's just kind of worked organically.
31:41
[SPEAKER_04]: Lerically, you know, it does seem like, you know, as you're talking about, you want to work minimal, you know, you don't understand, you know, why anybody needs all that, but it does seem like you're, you're sort of taking aim on this, Lerically, on a lot of these tracks at people who, I don't know, what maybe think they're bigger than the R is, is there sort of a general kind of theme hidden there?
31:58
[SPEAKER_02]: It is general, yeah, because I don't really, I'm kind of, um, I want to say up of this, but I realize that it's not really, I can't really point a finger at
32:09
[SPEAKER_02]: one thing that's visible like that, because a lot deeper than that really, you know what I'm saying?
32:16
[SPEAKER_02]: So it's more about a state of mind or, you know what I'm saying or, you know, I don't know, mental deficiencies, you know, it's more like a lot of people for anything, but I guess that's the way I process stuff, that's the best you have to ask yourself, so it's more on those lines.
32:37
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not really attacking anybody in general, but everything I'm talking about is out here right now.
32:42
[SPEAKER_04]: Well, I mean, you get a lot, a lot of new artists, you know, and they're coming up in, I don't know what we call this, maybe the sound cloud age, you know, and where suddenly you're basing some sort of success off of, you know, the hits or whatever, like that, how many, how many hits you got on that today, and it seems like it's changed, you know, a lot of artists own perception of themselves.
33:06
[SPEAKER_02]: maybe, you know what?
33:08
[SPEAKER_02]: I look at it like, because I try to look at things like, even like from even before I was born.
33:14
[SPEAKER_02]: So to me, it's pretty much the same as it's always there.
33:17
[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, the record industry pretty much dominates what's going on.
33:21
[SPEAKER_02]: All they care about is profit basically.
33:23
[SPEAKER_02]: They don't care about.
33:25
[SPEAKER_02]: anything artistic they're just looking at the bottom line.
33:28
[SPEAKER_02]: So they need some kind of measuring system to do that before it was money or sales.
33:32
[SPEAKER_02]: Since nobody is buying records anymore because they could not charge so that long.
33:38
[SPEAKER_02]: You know what I'm saying?
33:38
[SPEAKER_02]: People kind of just gave up on it.
33:40
[SPEAKER_02]: Or at least they wrap on urban music, making country or pop or other genres might still kind of kind of be selling pretty cool but as far as like urban and so to speak music like you don't see
33:54
[SPEAKER_02]: one or two people, but not like them.
33:56
[SPEAKER_02]: You think, for worse, you know, like they used to be.
33:58
[SPEAKER_02]: So the only way they got the measurements, nobody find them, whether it's something else.
34:02
[SPEAKER_02]: You know, they argue to use for, you know, it's on soundcloud, you know, they have many people like them on Twitter or whatever, you know, they're not the only thing they have to go.
34:12
[SPEAKER_02]: But, but you know what?
34:14
[SPEAKER_02]: That's the thing that makes a difference is, and this is where,
34:17
[SPEAKER_02]: I might be hitting the point that you were trying to make what you was asking me.
34:21
[SPEAKER_02]: The difference is the level of dedication in the place for somebody to secure your shit or it's here on YouTube is not the same as the dedication of going to buy your record.
34:32
[SPEAKER_02]: You know what I'm saying?
34:33
[SPEAKER_02]: That's a big dedication.
34:34
[SPEAKER_02]: Somebody like it so much to say, actually going store, cool day money out, they work fellow hard for and buy your shit.
34:42
[SPEAKER_02]: Have to buy them, look at the watchers here for free.
34:46
[SPEAKER_02]: I think a lot of you, I think a lot of kids get gasped, real easy thinking they made it, and it's like, no, I don't think it really does, nothing to do, it's like, you got to hit something down while, but you ain't really got to hit like that, yeah.
35:00
[SPEAKER_04]: You know, I look at one of the tracks, like Funkarole 3.0, which is a lot of fun to listen to, but you know, and it sort of, I guess goes further down that line for me, like are you talking
35:14
[SPEAKER_02]: You know what?
35:15
[SPEAKER_02]: Each is on, but any real artist out there is really trying to just master that stuff.
35:20
[SPEAKER_02]: You know what I mean?
35:21
[SPEAKER_02]: And I'll read the while I like hip hop with that, it blended that with the streets.
35:27
[SPEAKER_02]: Like, it comes from the boss, you know what I mean?
35:29
[SPEAKER_02]: I got tired of fighting and killing each other.
35:32
[SPEAKER_02]: I guess, you know what I'm going to end with, like, okay, let's put this energy into something creative.
35:37
[SPEAKER_02]: And that's a big game of weird.
35:38
[SPEAKER_02]: And the only way you can even be down with it is,
35:41
[SPEAKER_02]: If you was yourself, and if you were dope, so you had to like work on those shit hard enough to wear somebody's own exception as being dope, but you had to be you because you might know by yourself, because if it be, it's the, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh
36:05
[SPEAKER_02]: There's other cast out there to do music that sound like whatever and I don't really Lately this hip hop.
36:12
[SPEAKER_02]: I mean the general pop you was my late with a hip hop, but it ain't really it might be related to hip hop But it ain't hip hop.
36:18
[SPEAKER_02]: They don't even like some of them don't even like you call rap
36:22
[SPEAKER_02]: I'll ask about a specific track, too.
36:24
[SPEAKER_02]: And that's run free, which has you doing some really, you know,
36:44
[SPEAKER_02]: Pretty much whatever, uh, amp sent me whatever to be kind of like, encourage me to do that's what I did.
36:50
[SPEAKER_02]: So that particular beat has had me on some old shoes.
36:54
[SPEAKER_02]: You know what I'm saying?
36:55
[SPEAKER_02]: Like, I was like, I was a bit slick, great type of shit.
36:58
[SPEAKER_02]: You know what I'm saying?
36:59
[SPEAKER_02]: I kind of just ran with, you know what I mean?
37:02
[SPEAKER_02]: I just tell a little fun story.
37:03
[SPEAKER_02]: That's just what it reminded me of, with the size of sound, like a fire and that's the beginning of the
37:09
[SPEAKER_02]: So they kind of just maybe think like the police was going this way.
37:12
[SPEAKER_04]: So we ask about a few other things too.
37:15
[SPEAKER_04]: I was wondering if I read this right.
37:17
[SPEAKER_04]: Joni Hills got that movie coming out called Mid 90s.
37:19
[SPEAKER_04]: Do you have a cameo in that?
37:21
[SPEAKER_04]: Or is it using the music?
37:23
[SPEAKER_04]: Are you a part of that in any way?
37:24
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
37:25
[SPEAKER_02]: I do have a cameo in that movie actually.
37:27
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
37:28
[SPEAKER_02]: What a way to put.
37:29
[SPEAKER_04]: The bum.
37:30
[SPEAKER_02]: But now our home is first.
37:32
[SPEAKER_04]: And it looks like a seriously cool move.
37:34
[SPEAKER_04]: It is a cool move.
37:35
[SPEAKER_02]: Like I had a lot of fun on the set, because I escaped too.
37:38
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not a close gator, but I know it is escaping.
37:42
[SPEAKER_02]: She'll like to be up there, around Hellachia, because I love kids, you know what I'm saying?
37:46
[SPEAKER_02]: Don't just be in up there, associate with them, kind of chill it.
37:50
[SPEAKER_02]: It's eternity for something.
37:51
[SPEAKER_02]: It turns into something a little bigger than what it was in at first, because you like what I was doing, so you like, okay.
37:59
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, actually, I was going to be there for a day, but he ended up asking me to come back to the set the next day, and what he's seeing at me the first day, and kind of like, you know, they're like, you want me to kind of do some more, you know what I mean?
38:11
[SPEAKER_02]: So, it's cool, it's cool, it's definitely a type of movie I would like to go see.
38:16
[SPEAKER_02]: I've seen some of the like, you know, the preview or whatever the commercial is for.
38:21
[SPEAKER_02]: So, I could see what the film looked like about the set, you know, I could see how the film
38:28
[SPEAKER_02]: And it looks like something that I would like to go see.
38:30
[SPEAKER_02]: No, man, like some of it looks like VHS footage and shit.
38:33
[SPEAKER_02]: You know, I'm saying I like shit like that.
38:35
[SPEAKER_04]: Yes, I was wondering.
38:35
[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, does it, does it, do you think it really, you know, nails the, the era does, does it get it right from what you've seen?
38:42
[SPEAKER_02]: From his perspective here, you know that, from his perspective, I mean, I get everybody's got their own skin on it, but like if he was in the 90s, you know, you know that.
38:51
[SPEAKER_02]: He's from the, you know, he's from the era.
38:53
[SPEAKER_02]: He didn't like the younger and son of each other's other.
38:56
[SPEAKER_02]: He's really me, like he was better.
38:58
[SPEAKER_02]: It's true, you know what I mean, so yeah, yeah, he's called.
39:00
[SPEAKER_02]: The chief, the chief, no, really.
39:02
[SPEAKER_02]: When you see these two kids and what they do, what they board, you know, they wow, you know, they're like, on the set, they have like maybe things, they gotta be like 50 kids up there.
39:14
[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I'm saying?
39:15
[SPEAKER_02]: It was crazy.
39:16
[SPEAKER_02]: Like, it's not the barely state part on the set, because status is just getting back and forth on the set.
39:22
[SPEAKER_04]: You know, it was a sure thing.
39:24
[SPEAKER_04]: Why were in the 90s?
39:25
[SPEAKER_04]: Do you mind me asking about a few albums that's having big anniversaries this year?
39:29
[SPEAKER_04]: I've got it.
39:29
[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, I noticed no need for alarm.
39:31
[SPEAKER_04]: That one turns 25.
39:34
[SPEAKER_04]: Even third-eye vision hits the 20th anniversary this year.
39:38
[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know.
39:38
[SPEAKER_04]: Do you look to sell it?
39:40
[SPEAKER_04]: Do you celebrate any of the back catalog in those ways when they hit the big round numbers?
39:44
[SPEAKER_02]: I don't really think about it because I'm here now, you know that.
39:48
[SPEAKER_02]: You know, I mean, like, I'm always on the push forward, right now I'm not letting those blinds say, right now, like I just started, but I'm more in the battle right now because that culture is growing out of hell of fat now, you know what I'm saying?
40:00
[SPEAKER_02]: So really that's the only place that I could really get what I'm looking for and really get it on record, at least not yet because everybody then sold out or it's playing off into another direction, you know what I mean?
40:12
[SPEAKER_02]: So really, that's what I'll be on.
40:13
[SPEAKER_02]: I'll be watching battles all day, all day long, all night long, go to sleep, wake up, watch the battles.
40:19
[SPEAKER_02]: By the paper view, when it comes out, you know what I'm saying?
40:21
[SPEAKER_02]: But the answer to your questions is, oh, I don't really, yeah, I don't really go back like that.
40:25
[SPEAKER_02]: You feel me?
40:26
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm too busy trying to refine what I'm trying to do for the future, you know what I mean?
40:31
[SPEAKER_04]: Well those are such landmark records, you know, honestly you don't have to because I think everybody else is still celebrating those for you, you know, to kind of dive back in.
40:40
[SPEAKER_04]: And they're just so, they're kind of revolutionary moments, you know, in the history of any kind of music.
40:45
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, yeah, I can appreciate that definitely, like I don't get me wrong.
40:49
[SPEAKER_02]: I don't look back on it like this.
40:51
[SPEAKER_02]: I don't like it or not, I just don't, it's all to me.
40:55
[SPEAKER_02]: I think about it sometimes, but like I'm too busy trying to be what's happening now.
41:00
[SPEAKER_04]: Well, I think you, and I'll kind of use those as the bridge, you know, past and present because you've always, you've always found a way to go against what's popular, and a lot of people say they want to do that, but few actually practice that.
41:13
[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, when you look back at no need for alarm, you know, you were part of introducing
41:17
[SPEAKER_04]: you know some of the jazz sounds that came out of the era which was you know some of my favorite stuff from the genre and everything and you know and I don't hear anyone talking about battle wraps at this point you know as their main source of motivation of a creed creative motivation.
41:33
[SPEAKER_02]: No, I still approach it from a competitive mentality or an aggressive mentality.
41:38
[SPEAKER_02]: So it's still the same type of energy.
41:40
[SPEAKER_02]: I just projected to other subjects besides battling somebody on stage, you know what I mean?
41:46
[SPEAKER_02]: I might be battling with somebody's personality or something.
41:49
[SPEAKER_02]: No, man.
41:50
[SPEAKER_02]: It's the same type of humor, humor, approach, you know what I mean?
41:54
[SPEAKER_02]: It's still punch line, word play, you know what I mean?
41:57
[SPEAKER_02]: That's what rapping is, you know what I'm saying?
41:59
[SPEAKER_02]: But it's just a projected toward something else beside an opponent on stage.
42:05
[SPEAKER_02]: And I feel that's what hip hop is.
42:06
[SPEAKER_02]: It's a got to be competitive.
42:08
[SPEAKER_02]: You ain't competitive.
42:09
[SPEAKER_02]: What is you doing?
42:10
[SPEAKER_02]: You don't want to be the best wise you're doing.
42:13
[SPEAKER_02]: Don't be trying to be the best.
42:14
[SPEAKER_02]: You know what I'm saying?
42:15
[SPEAKER_02]: Otherwise what is you doing?
42:17
[SPEAKER_02]: Just trying to make money?
42:18
[SPEAKER_04]: Well, in the meantime, I really am a joint gate 13.
42:21
[SPEAKER_04]: Do you know what the next step is for you after this?
42:24
[SPEAKER_04]: You know, beyond getting yourself back in a good space?
42:28
[SPEAKER_02]: Well, after that action, then I'll really have to see much space in the music industry, you know, so I don't know.
42:35
[SPEAKER_02]: Before me, I'll really see the form of any kind of film that you know, so I'm trying to get my life together.
42:41
[SPEAKER_02]: I ain't stopped performing down here since I first came out, like little, I took a break, one time when my brother got killed, you know what I'm saying?
42:49
[SPEAKER_02]: I ain't going to a full lot, but that happened.
42:52
[SPEAKER_02]: Other than that, I pretty much never stopped nonstop.
42:55
[SPEAKER_02]: You know what I mean?
42:56
[SPEAKER_02]: To the point where it's just a whirlwind, I don't even know what I'm doing.
42:59
[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know if I got out of it.
43:01
[SPEAKER_02]: be myself, you know what I'm saying, live it off the McDonald's, never here, came wash my clothes, got them out in the clothes at the house, to the point where I'm buying new wardrobe every time I go out to go have time to wash off the dirty clothes that they're accumulate.
43:15
[SPEAKER_02]: It was just crazy, I can't even think, so, you know, in this half, I'm like, okay, I could have died out there.
43:22
[SPEAKER_02]: So, I'm like really reconsidering a lot of stuff, no man, like what's really important.
43:27
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm thinking like, I'm trying to move to Hawaii, so you choose.
43:29
[SPEAKER_02]: I feel like if I change the quality of my life, then you've been made me out, I feel like, going out and performing.
43:36
[SPEAKER_02]: But really, the only thing that really gives me the urge to really perform is that a wrap, because they wrap so crazy, you know what I'm saying?
43:44
[SPEAKER_02]: Like, they'll wrap this fucking insane.
43:47
[SPEAKER_02]: and the performance that go along with it is ridiculous.
43:50
[SPEAKER_02]: So that alone just encourages me to come up with some new shifts of stage.
43:55
[SPEAKER_02]: That and the fans, you know, the fans tell us the borderland.
43:58
[SPEAKER_02]: You know what I was in the hospital.
44:00
[SPEAKER_02]: Hell of people was sending me the love, you know what I was saying?
44:03
[SPEAKER_02]: But then the two reasons why I was performing, but I really wanted to try to get together and do that.
44:08
[SPEAKER_02]: And stuff.
44:09
[SPEAKER_02]: No, man.
44:09
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm tired of doing just the same old routine, basically doing the same show for hell.
44:14
[SPEAKER_02]: And I'm somewhere else.
44:17
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm here, but my show is back.
44:19
[SPEAKER_02]: in the 90s only and you know they're like you don't even think so once once I get much together I can see doing that but I work on music constant so as far as that going I got some high sheet so it's just a matter of time well put it out I work with ham too in the future too like we're trying to do some instrumental music and stuff I love working with that I think he's a brilliant musician and I think we just clip together like I think
44:43
[SPEAKER_02]: We already done work on music together as a team, you know what I'm saying?
44:47
[SPEAKER_02]: I just want to try to explore that more at speed how far we can take that, like best working together on you.
44:53
[SPEAKER_02]: I really like that on stage in the whole now.
44:55
[SPEAKER_02]: So, you know, the possibility is there, but that's kind of the direction that I'm going to.
45:00
[SPEAKER_04]: I look forward to hearing whatever it comes through and we really are sending you the best wishes too for recovery, you know, we're all big fans of you over here and we just want to hear the best from you.
