• 0:55
Speaker 1: This is Carl Lee with Let's Talk, and I have
• 0:58
Speaker 1: my two hosts my cot in the building, Lisadi Hello,
• 1:02
Speaker 1: and Hollis Lewis Hello. Hello, and Hollis, I think you're
• 1:08
Speaker 1: gonna open this up.
• 1:09
  Speaker 2: Yeah.
• 1:10
Speaker 1: So I was at West Virginia State's EARL Lloyd Classic
• 1:13
Speaker 1: basketball tournament this weekend and I ran into a fan,
• 1:17
Speaker 1: you know, oftentimes when you were walking around and you know,
• 1:20
Speaker 1: just maticulating through life. I'm sure you meet people who
• 1:22
Speaker 1: were listen to the show, but this gentleman was very special.
• 1:26
Speaker 1: So a shout out to you will. He's going through
• 1:28
Speaker 1: some things so and he has to travel pretty frequently,
• 1:32
Speaker 1: and he said a big part of passing the time
• 1:35
Speaker 1: is he's going through what he's going through is listening
• 1:38
Speaker 1: to the show. So it was something to touch my heart.
• 1:39
Speaker 1: And hopefully we'll we're gonna have you on one day,
• 1:42
Speaker 1: so you know, you continue to be safe, get well
• 1:44
Speaker 1: and you know, and.
• 1:46
Speaker 2: We have and we totally totally totally appreciate it. That's
• 1:49
Speaker 2: that's always good stuff, though, doesn't.
• 1:51
Speaker 4: It always like just I don't know about you guys,
• 1:53
Speaker 4: but it just kind of like you're almost in shock
• 1:55
Speaker 4: and awe when somebody says, oh, yeah, you're on that
• 1:58
Speaker 4: you're on that podcast with Let's Talk with you know,
• 2:01
Speaker 4: Carl Lee and and you're just like wow, you know,
• 2:04
Speaker 4: because sometimes we forget when we're in the studio just
• 2:06
Speaker 4: us and poor you know, mad in there trying to
• 2:09
Speaker 4: control us. But you forget that people actually are out
• 2:13
Speaker 4: there listening and they appreciate, you know, what we do
• 2:15
Speaker 4: and shout out to you guys for doing that, for listening.
• 2:19
Speaker 1: Well and to that point, it is an amazing kind
• 2:25
Speaker 1: of a thing like and and and for you too,
• 2:28
Speaker 1: both of you all in your at least in your
• 2:31
Speaker 1: past uh line of work, hollerus in your current uh work.
• 2:37
Speaker 1: Like to me, when I see that, I don't think
• 2:41
Speaker 1: that you guys can actually actually appreciate or maybe even
• 2:46
Speaker 1: be totally aware of the positive sides of that of
• 2:50
Speaker 1: the people who look at you and think like, oh man,
• 2:53
Speaker 1: she's great, he's great, they're doing all these good things,
• 2:56
Speaker 1: because I don't, because I think what happens is you
• 2:59
Speaker 1: spend all of you or time on working on trying
• 3:02
Speaker 1: to get those positive things for people to be appreciative of,
• 3:07
Speaker 1: not saying that you're doing it just so they appreciate it.
• 3:09
Speaker 1: But you're so tied into working with that kind of
• 3:13
  Speaker 1: stuff that.
• 3:15
Speaker 4: Your content, you're thinking about what we're going to discuss
• 3:18
Speaker 4: and talk about it, and you forget that the audience really,
• 3:21
Speaker 4: you know, there is an audience.
• 3:22
Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, You've done something, and all of a sudden,
• 3:24
Speaker 1: now I'm totally appreciative of it, and you don't know me,
• 3:27
Speaker 1: you know, you know, And then all of a sudden,
• 3:30
Speaker 1: I happened to walk up and see you, and now
• 3:32
Speaker 1: it's like, oh, and you know, and I think that's
• 3:35
Speaker 1: a hard kind of thing to kind of maybe get
• 3:38
Speaker 1: used to, you know, and you know, sports is built
• 3:40
Speaker 1: around that kind of thing. But when you do it
• 3:43
Speaker 1: to me, I think when you do it outside of sports,
• 3:45
  Speaker 1: I think it's I think it's huge.
• 3:47
  Speaker 2: I think it's right.
• 3:49
  Speaker 1: It's just a it's way more special, I think because
• 3:51
Speaker 1: you got everybody calling your name and all of that
• 3:55
Speaker 1: kind of stuff during that. But in you all's line
• 3:57
  Speaker 1: of work, Yeah, it's it's different. It's like you've got
• 4:01
Speaker 1: to do literally do something, and you're doing something and
• 4:06
Speaker 1: you got a huge group of people that are like, man,
• 4:10
Speaker 1: she's great. Oh man, he's great. Yeah, And I think
• 4:14
Speaker 1: that's I think that itself is cool.
• 4:16
Speaker 4: Yeah, it's a reward in itself for sure. And to
• 4:19
Speaker 4: hear something like that, that's just a heartwarming story about Will,
• 4:22
Speaker 4: I mean, to know what he's going through, and it
• 4:25
Speaker 4: makes us feel good because we feel like we're helping
• 4:27
Speaker 4: somebody get through a difficult part of the part of
• 4:30
Speaker 4: their lives just by putting out some content on sports
• 4:33
Speaker 4: and it helps them forget for a while, and hopefully
• 4:36
Speaker 4: that's our goal really is to help everybody escape reality
• 4:39
  Speaker 4: for a minute.
• 4:39
Speaker 1: And how many times have had somebody told you that
• 4:45
Speaker 1: they're driving somewhere, Yeah, and they know that we're on,
• 4:50
Speaker 1: and so they're listening to us to go drive as
• 4:53
Speaker 1: they go wherever they're going, and they're driving, they they're
• 4:56
Speaker 1: listening to us. And when you think about that, that's
• 4:59
Speaker 1: like kind of cool, like you know, yeah, because like wow, Okay,
• 5:04
Speaker 1: he knows we're on.
• 5:05
Speaker 2: She knows we're on.
• 5:06
Speaker 1: They're turning us on at that time to take that drive.
• 5:10
Speaker 1: That's you know, shut you will shout out and all the.
• 5:14
Speaker 2: Listeners who who's listeners and listen to us? All right, Well, let's.
• 5:20
Speaker 4: Put some contre for them to listen to now for sure?
• 5:24
  Speaker 2: All right.
• 5:24
Speaker 1: So I'm going to open this up with the I'm
• 5:31
Speaker 1: gonna call it the Dion Sanders saga. All right, here
• 5:43
Speaker 1: here is here is Here is my my take on it.
• 5:50
Speaker 1: I feel really really bad about the health of Dion
• 5:54
Speaker 1: and and in spite of his health, he's still trying
• 5:57
Speaker 1: to to be the head coach. He's still trying to
• 5:59
Speaker 1: be the dad that's that's supporting his son. Wanting the
• 6:05
Speaker 1: best for his son. I think all of that is.
• 6:11
  Speaker 1: I think it's I think it's important, and it's great
• 6:15
  Speaker 1: shador I think.
• 6:18
Speaker 2: I think what he did not realize.
• 6:22
Speaker 1: And most players who are great in college, and I
• 6:28
Speaker 1: use that word literally great in college, they don't really
• 6:33
Speaker 1: know the transition to the next level of It's one
• 6:38
Speaker 1: thing being in practice and being good and thinking like, oh,
• 6:41
Speaker 1: this is easy. But then when it comes to the
• 6:45
Speaker 1: real games, regular season games against teams.
• 6:51
Speaker 2: It ain't the same. Yeah, And and I don't know.
• 6:56
Speaker 1: I think that I personally think that your door can play.
• 7:00
Speaker 1: I think that what's how do we know if he
• 7:02
  Speaker 1: can play? Well, well, well, here's here's my here's here's
• 7:06
Speaker 1: here's and I'm gonna let you have all of this.
• 7:08
Speaker 2: Okay, here's what I think. I think he can play.
• 7:14
Speaker 1: But playing does not necessarily mean that you're going to
• 7:17
Speaker 1: be a superstar or you're even gonna be starting. You
• 7:20
Speaker 1: can play, if you can play in the pros, right,
• 7:22
Speaker 1: you can play. But I don't really know yet if
• 7:28
Speaker 1: he's under that he understood the difference in what his
• 7:33
Speaker 1: greatness whatever, however he viewed his greatness in college to
• 7:37
Speaker 1: think that that's going to carry over and that's just
• 7:40
Speaker 1: gonna be okay, and you're on a team that's not
• 7:43
Speaker 1: very good. Now, you can talk about the lines not
• 7:46
  Speaker 1: doing this, d D D D D all that kind of.
• 7:48
Speaker 2: Stuff, but do you are the guy well and you're
• 7:53
Speaker 2: claiming to be it. I'm just what I'm saying.
• 7:56
Speaker 1: I mean, I think maybe that's the thought, maybe initially,
• 8:00
Speaker 1: but I think reality set in and the fact of
• 8:02
Speaker 1: the matter is, I don't know if we know if
• 8:03
Speaker 1: he can play because he just hasn't really had the opportunities.
• 8:07
Speaker 1: From every report coming out, he hasn't got first team reps.
• 8:10
Speaker 1: He's not getting a lot of practice time, and as
• 8:12
Speaker 1: a quarterback, you have to build that muscle memory and
• 8:16
Speaker 1: that happens in practice. And uh, just to pay the context,
• 8:19
Speaker 1: he saw his first game action this week. It didn't
• 8:21
Speaker 1: really go well, No, not at all. So so again
• 8:24
  Speaker 1: I don't you know, we don't know. I don't think
• 8:27
Speaker 1: any I think anybody says he can't or he can't
• 8:29
  Speaker 1: you don't know.
• 8:30
Speaker 4: I think the circumstance that he was thrown into, I
• 8:34
Speaker 4: just don't think he could win. I mean, first of all,
• 8:38
Speaker 4: like you said, going back to your point, hollis he
• 8:40
Speaker 4: really hasn't even had practice with that first first team offense,
• 8:43
Speaker 4: so you know, you throw him into a situation where
• 8:47
Speaker 4: you're you're you know, you're already losing to the to
• 8:50
Speaker 4: the team that you're playing. His stats were not great,
• 8:53
Speaker 4: of course, you know, I'm sure he was nervous. I'm
• 8:55
Speaker 4: sure he struggled with the mental part of it of
• 8:57
Speaker 4: just being taken off the bench and thrown out there
• 8:59
Speaker 4: without warning. Really, you know, his passing completions he only
• 9:04
Speaker 4: made four out of sixteen attempts, as completion percentage was
• 9:09
Speaker 4: twenty five percent. Passing yards total of forty seven with
• 9:13
Speaker 4: zero touchdowns obviously, So yeah, he struggled, and he admitted that.
• 9:17
Speaker 4: He admitted that in the press conference. You know, he'd
• 9:19
Speaker 4: made some comments and I'll paraphrase some things that he said,
• 9:22
Speaker 4: but you know, he said, I don't think I played
• 9:24
Speaker 4: good at all. At least he admitted that part. But
• 9:27
Speaker 4: then later on in the you know, I kind of
• 9:29
Speaker 4: skipped over some of the other things he said. He
• 9:31
Speaker 4: still has his swagger because he said, I know I'm
• 9:34
Speaker 4: made for it. I don't think there was doubt in
• 9:37
Speaker 4: my mind that final drive we were going to go
• 9:39
Speaker 4: down there and score things. Happened differently. So in his mind,
• 9:45
Speaker 4: even when he was thrown into this situation, his confidence
• 9:48
Speaker 4: was still there. It was just mentally and physically, I
• 9:50
Speaker 4: don't think he was ready or prepared to do what
• 9:52
Speaker 4: he needed to do.
• 9:53
Speaker 1: Yeah, and the game speeds up so as you move
• 9:56
Speaker 1: from the level from one to the next. And like
• 9:59
Speaker 1: I said, if you have had any any reps and
• 10:02
Speaker 1: it's just it makes me just question like even the
• 10:04
Speaker 1: Philip said Philadelphia, but Cleveland coaching staff, because it's like
• 10:08
Speaker 1: if you draft two quarterbacks, you're down to two, you
• 10:11
Speaker 1: have a backup, obviously he's your backup. Then you have
• 10:15
Speaker 1: to get him some first team reps. You have to
• 10:17
Speaker 1: get him in there and get some reps. So I
• 10:19
Speaker 1: don't understand what they're doing on that, And it just
• 10:21
Speaker 1: doesn't make sense. And it's just sort of indicative of
• 10:24
Speaker 1: who the Cleveland Browns are and why they are constantly
• 10:28
Speaker 1: in the position that they're in right to to the
• 10:31
Speaker 1: to the Browns piece of that, I'm gonna give you.
• 10:33
Speaker 1: I'm gonna give you some props on that, but I'm
• 10:36
Speaker 1: gonna challenge I'm gonna challenge the and and and you know,
• 10:42
Speaker 1: quarterback way better than I'm gonna know quarterback and I
• 10:45
Speaker 1: and I do understand the challenges that come with playing quarterback,
• 10:49
Speaker 1: all the things that you've got to know. But where
• 10:53
Speaker 1: I have where I'm questioning, is, Okay, we all know
• 11:00
Speaker 1: that you needed all of that, but you've been screaming
• 11:03
  Speaker 1: about getting in.
• 11:04
Speaker 2: You've been getting you've been wanting to play.
• 11:07
Speaker 1: So whether or not, whether or not you I mean
• 11:13
Speaker 1: all you wanted to do, because all.
• 11:15
Speaker 4: You want to think it was calculated? Do you think
• 11:17
Speaker 4: that they did that to maybe prove a point to
• 11:19
Speaker 4: him that I got hurt Gabriel? Yeah, but I'm saying,
• 11:24
Speaker 4: was it calculated to put him in in that in
• 11:26
Speaker 4: that situation without I know?
• 11:29
  Speaker 2: I think I don't think so.
• 11:30
Speaker 1: But I think when you get put into that situation
• 11:35
Speaker 1: and now it's real and you've never touched it, Dad
• 11:40
Speaker 1: can't help you now and your cockingness or your confidence,
• 11:45
Speaker 1: whatever you want to call it, it won't work. It
• 11:48
Speaker 1: but it can't work because you haven't had any reps
• 11:51
Speaker 1: at it. And again, quarterback is not a is not
• 11:54
Speaker 1: a quote unquote pure athletic position. So I can't just
• 11:57
Speaker 1: go out there as an athlete and make something happen.
• 12:00
Speaker 1: As an athlete. If I want to really progress and
• 12:03
Speaker 1: move the ball maturated down field, I have to number one,
• 12:07
Speaker 1: have a feel for the offense. I have to have
• 12:09
Speaker 1: worked this thing, because again, different coverage is gonna dictate
• 12:13
Speaker 1: different reads. I'm gonna have to you know, even even
• 12:15
Speaker 1: if you have the same coverage, if I'm a specific
• 12:18
Speaker 1: cornerback and lineback, I have to make slightly different throws
• 12:20
Speaker 1: in adjust. I have to know I have a weakness
• 12:23
Speaker 1: on this side of the line. I have a strength
• 12:24
Speaker 1: on her here, So I know. And all that doesn't
• 12:27
Speaker 1: come through you just by studying it. You have to
• 12:29
Speaker 1: feel it. And there's no way you're going to be
• 12:32
Speaker 1: successful with the NFL quarterback by that.
• 12:35
  Speaker 2: You're not.
• 12:36
Speaker 1: But I'm not buying no reps. I'm not buying that's
• 12:39
Speaker 1: what's coming out. No, that's what everybody says. That's what
• 12:44
Speaker 1: the organization is saying. Everybody's saying that. Okay, So so
• 12:51
Speaker 1: my thing is if he's having sex. Okay, so let's
• 12:53
Speaker 1: say if he's having second team quarterback reps, right, he's
• 13:00
  Speaker 1: he's he's throwing the ball, he's handing it off, he's
• 13:03
Speaker 1: faking it, he's doing all those kinds of things that
• 13:05
Speaker 1: the quarterback has to do. Now he's reading some defense,
• 13:09
Speaker 1: whether it's a scout team or what. Don't wait a minute,
• 13:13
Speaker 1: Wait a minute, Wait a minute. I'm not saying that
• 13:16
Speaker 1: it works him reading the scout team. That won't help
• 13:19
Speaker 1: him if that, because that's not the team that he's playing.
• 13:22
Speaker 2: I understand that piece. I get that.
• 13:26
Speaker 1: But if every every quarterback, everybody who's playing has to
• 13:34
Speaker 1: be ready, what's what got to be ready when it comes?
• 13:37
Speaker 1: And and and you got to be ready when I
• 13:41
  Speaker 1: think you got to be you can't. That's that's a
• 13:43
Speaker 1: blanket statement. You can't pit there. Again, if what we're
• 13:46
Speaker 1: if the reports are true, and we're saying and we
• 13:49
Speaker 1: believe that he's not getting any first team action in practice,
• 13:53
Speaker 1: this is not a pure mental I believe if we
• 13:56
Speaker 1: believe that, if that's true, which I think is true
• 13:59
  Speaker 1: because it's.
• 14:00
Speaker 4: It's coming from at one point he wasn't.
• 14:02
Speaker 1: Even getting snapped excuse me, scout team reps when they
• 14:05
Speaker 1: were fully quarterback, when they had a full quarterback room.
• 14:08
Speaker 2: So it's just one of them positions.
• 14:10
Speaker 1: You are not going to do well if you're not
• 14:13
Speaker 1: in getting reps, you're just not well.
• 14:17
Speaker 4: Correct me, if I'm wrong. I mean obviously that the
• 14:19
Speaker 4: management wasn't too disappointed with this play because he's expected
• 14:23
Speaker 4: to make his first start against the Raiders, right. I
• 14:27
Speaker 4: don't know if they have a choice anybody else.
• 14:30
Speaker 1: Now, it's just them too. In Gabriel, he's in country proto,
• 14:33
Speaker 1: so he's not going to be available.
• 14:35
Speaker 2: So it is what it is.
• 14:36
Speaker 1: So hopefully I think this week we'll see, we'll see
• 14:39
Speaker 1: what it is. And again I'm enjoying this fight because
• 14:45
Speaker 1: like what like I'm an old school enough to also realize,
• 14:51
Speaker 1: like you know, the opportunity to to get into a game.
• 14:58
Speaker 2: You may not get.
• 14:59
Speaker 1: You know, if if you're if you're a backup, you
• 15:02
Speaker 1: might not get those reps. But when you become from
• 15:04
Speaker 1: back up to the starter, you got to be able
• 15:09
Speaker 1: to you got to come out and play. You you
• 15:11
Speaker 1: can say, you can say that I didn't get enough reps,
• 15:14
  Speaker 1: I didn't get enough of this, I didn't do this.
• 15:16
Speaker 2: Y'all didn't give me enough time.
• 15:18
Speaker 1: Brother, Sometimes you don't get you got to come out
• 15:21
Speaker 1: and play like you just got still.
• 15:23
Speaker 4: Have to pretend like your quarterback is hurt, Like you
• 15:25
Speaker 4: have to make sure that that second string quarterback is
• 15:28
Speaker 4: ready to go. You is going to get You just
• 15:35
Speaker 4: have to think that way, right.
• 15:36
Speaker 1: This is why the Browns suck the terrible because to
• 15:41
Speaker 1: your point, you know that you ain't never play football
• 15:44
Speaker 1: in your life. And the fact that matters that if
• 15:47
  Speaker 1: I'm an organization, I'm a coach, It's on me to
• 15:51
Speaker 1: make sure that my backup quarterback has a package that
• 15:54
Speaker 1: he can feel comfortable doing so if he has to insert,
• 15:57
Speaker 1: if I have to insert him in the game, then
• 15:59
Speaker 1: I have about ten to fifteen players that I know
• 16:01
Speaker 1: this guy can do and he's comfortable doing it.
• 16:04
Speaker 2: He knows the reason against all defense.
• 16:06
Speaker 1: There's no way in modern football that if you're not
• 16:09
Speaker 1: getting any reps. I just don't believe that at the
• 16:13
Speaker 1: quarterback position. Not at the quarterback position. It's like asking
• 16:16
Speaker 1: a goalie to go in and he's not. He doesn't
• 16:19
Speaker 1: feel any shots in soccer or hot He just sits
• 16:24
Speaker 1: in the stands, sits on the sidelines. It goes on
• 16:27
Speaker 1: work that way, it doesn't work.
• 16:28
Speaker 2: And I buy that.
• 16:30
Speaker 1: I'm one hundred percent with you. I just don't buy.
• 16:33
  Speaker 1: I just don't. I just don't. I can't imagine, Okay,
• 16:37
Speaker 1: I'll say it that way. I can't imagine you having
• 16:40
Speaker 1: a quarterback and you've got two available and you're only
• 16:46
Speaker 1: giving you're giving all the reps to one.
• 16:48
Speaker 4: That's what made me think there was another quarterback. I mean,
• 16:51
  Speaker 4: I mean, I mean when I heard that, I thought
• 16:53
Speaker 4: there's gotta be somebody else.
• 16:54
Speaker 2: I think they have emergency guy. I want to say somebody,
• 16:56
  Speaker 2: but it's not.
• 16:57
Speaker 1: I think those are the two starting like shooting yes,
• 16:59
Speaker 1: because they remember they were five one time.
• 17:01
Speaker 4: Right, yeah, I remember they had too many.
• 17:03
  Speaker 1: I mean, I just don't I just don't see how
• 17:10
Speaker 1: you get no reps. I just don't see how that is.
• 17:14
Speaker 1: That is that you need to pull some strings and
• 17:19
Speaker 1: get that coach on the show and we need to
• 17:22
Speaker 1: ask him like, okay, that's we got five minutes. We
• 17:25
Speaker 1: ask you one question. Is door getting reps?
• 17:27
Speaker 3: And is he not?
• 17:28
  Speaker 2: Why?
• 17:28
Speaker 4: So I watched the guys, I watched all those sports
• 17:31
Speaker 4: shows today. ESPN was just you know, every single one
• 17:34
Speaker 4: of them. They were talking about this situation, and you know,
• 17:36
Speaker 4: they talked about his play and you being a former quarterback, Hollis,
• 17:40
Speaker 4: and you being a coach and defensive player. I'll throw
• 17:43
Speaker 4: this out there, but they said they felt like he
• 17:45
Speaker 4: struggled with processing, which would be speed right, and that
• 17:49
Speaker 4: too often like bailed backward out of the pocket, or
• 17:53
Speaker 4: he fell backward on his throes and he was off target.
• 17:56
Speaker 4: So that's more of technique than it is. I mean,
• 17:59
Speaker 4: is that because he hasn't had that.
• 18:01
  Speaker 1: It's not technique, And I'll tell you why. That's a
• 18:04
Speaker 1: good observation. It's not technique. It's it's more of eye
• 18:08
Speaker 1: discipline because like I said, if I'm in the pocket
• 18:12
Speaker 1: and I have reps, I'm used to the speed of
• 18:14
Speaker 1: things going on, and I understand and know what I'm
• 18:16
Speaker 1: looking at, because I mean, you're a professional athletes.
• 18:20
Speaker 2: Process, yeah, you guys prep. It's all related to process.
• 18:22
Speaker 1: So if I'm unsure what I'm looking at, then I'm
• 18:26
Speaker 1: my fee get antsy, and I end up in my
• 18:28
Speaker 1: mind trying to buy myself times waiting for guys to
• 18:31
Speaker 1: get open because I'm not anticipating. Because good quarterbacks, you see,
• 18:35
Speaker 1: they're throwing guys open, or they're throwing the ball before
• 18:37
Speaker 1: the guy gets open, like right out the break and
• 18:38
Speaker 1: they're throwing the ball. But if but if you don't
• 18:41
Speaker 1: have that feel and if you don't have that repetition,
• 18:43
Speaker 1: then you start doing stuff like that. So that's exactly
• 18:46
Speaker 1: what this is, and it's indicative of somebody who is not.
• 18:51
Speaker 4: Just going to ask that's something that can be corrected.
• 18:53
Speaker 1: I meant, yeah, he's gonna he's gonna need reps. But
• 18:59
Speaker 1: I want to ask this question, Hollis, sometimes when you
• 19:04
Speaker 1: get put into that situation and you mentally remember what
• 19:09
Speaker 1: that was now week two and you're gonna and you're
• 19:13
Speaker 1: gonna start again in week two, even though let's say
• 19:16
Speaker 1: they give you all of that information, all you can
• 19:19
Speaker 1: remember because it's tough being in that pocket when you
• 19:22
Speaker 1: got people coming. Is it possible that that's the that
• 19:28
Speaker 1: that because of how he was handled, how it was
• 19:31
Speaker 1: handled this past week, how poorly he played, because of
• 19:37
Speaker 1: all the reasons, is he gonna like is that is
• 19:41
  Speaker 1: he gonna be.
• 19:42
Speaker 2: Nervous again coming in?
• 19:43
  Speaker 1: He'll come fine, He'll be He'll be he's gonna be
• 19:46
Speaker 1: so confident because he got that out, so he he
• 19:49
Speaker 1: he actually got a feel now, So I mean it
• 19:52
Speaker 1: probably is gonna work out pretty good because he actually
• 19:54
Speaker 1: got some game even if he didn't get a whole
• 19:56
Speaker 1: lot of reps prior to that, he got a game
• 19:58
Speaker 1: time feel and then he'll get a whole week to
• 20:02
Speaker 1: dissect that and then going into reps and give reps
• 20:05
Speaker 1: and get all the reps in practice.
• 20:06
Speaker 2: So I think you'll be fine.
• 20:07
Speaker 4: So you're thinking this in your opinions now that he's
• 20:11
Speaker 4: he's gotten that first game out of the way, and
• 20:13
Speaker 4: he's going to get more practice, more reps, the things
• 20:15
Speaker 4: he needs to get better. So now this coming week
• 20:19
Speaker 4: when they, you know, play the Las Vegas Raiders, now
• 20:23
Speaker 4: can we kind of make a judgment about whether he's
• 20:25
  Speaker 4: in NFL material.
• 20:26
Speaker 1: I mean that fair, one hundred percent fair. I mean
• 20:29
Speaker 1: I think this will be the first This would be
• 20:30
Speaker 1: the first test, and we'll see, like this would be
• 20:33
Speaker 1: test number one, see, and I would be willing to
• 20:36
Speaker 1: give him. I would be willing to give him another.
• 20:40
Speaker 4: Week even after this game.
• 20:41
Speaker 5: Even after this, because what what I would like to
• 20:44
Speaker 5: do probably maybe what I would like to do is
• 20:46
Speaker 5: like you could can you see getting better? It doesn't
• 20:52
Speaker 5: he's not gonna be yeah, just improvement would be great.
• 20:56
Speaker 5: Whether it's whether he completes eight balls this time, you
• 21:00
Speaker 5: know that's oh okay. So started for down with eight
• 21:03
Speaker 5: and he looked a little bit more comfortable, because when
• 21:06
Speaker 5: when you get thrown into a game at that level,
• 21:10
Speaker 5: and really at any level and you're all of a
• 21:12
Speaker 5: sudden you are the guy or you're.
• 21:14
  Speaker 2: Playing it's a lot. That's a lot.
• 21:16
Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean my, I guess my my barometer for
• 21:20
Speaker 1: this week would just be like just hanging in the
• 21:22
Speaker 1: pocket and being on time and just making good decisions. Again,
• 21:26
Speaker 1: they might have some dropballs, maybe some off target, but
• 21:29
Speaker 1: are you on time? Are you making the right decision,
• 21:31
Speaker 1: are you making the right read are you are you
• 21:35
Speaker 1: keeping up with speed? Are you figuring out okay I
• 21:37
Speaker 1: need to you know, maybe I can run this for
• 21:39
Speaker 1: this two or three yards? Are you just making the
• 21:41
Speaker 1: good decisions? Are you calm?
• 21:44
  Speaker 2: You know?
• 21:44
Speaker 1: Is your feet steady? So I'm looking for stuff like that.
• 21:47
Speaker 1: You know, se what the one point that you made there?
• 21:50
Speaker 1: Can they run the football? Because gosh yeah, because that
• 21:54
Speaker 1: would wouldn't that be a great opportunity to be able
• 21:58
Speaker 1: to play action do those kinds of things, Because when
• 22:02
Speaker 1: when when you don't think if a team knows that
• 22:04
Speaker 1: you can't know you can't run the football, man, they're coming.
• 22:07
Speaker 2: At you and it's the Cleveland Browns.
• 22:09
Speaker 1: Yeah I'm saying so it ain't about to win, it's
• 22:16
Speaker 1: just you know, can you get a Can you get
• 22:17
Speaker 1: ten fifteen percent better than what you was last week? Okay,
• 22:20
Speaker 1: so so you're so your dad, what are you thinking now?
• 22:23
Speaker 1: You you then saw your son in this in this scenario,
• 22:28
Speaker 1: and you're Dion, What do you think?
• 22:30
Speaker 2: I think Dyon thinking the same thing. Just get a
• 22:32
  Speaker 2: little bit better.
• 22:33
Speaker 1: You gotta get some tape now, because ultimately I don't
• 22:36
Speaker 1: think he's his future is in Cleveland.
• 22:38
  Speaker 2: It just ain't.
• 22:39
  Speaker 1: I don't think that's where he'll he'll be long term.
• 22:42
Speaker 1: So right now, it's just about getting some tape. Can
• 22:44
Speaker 1: you get a little bit better? Can to your point,
• 22:46
Speaker 1: can you give everything every week that you play? Can
• 22:49
Speaker 1: you get a little bit better?
• 22:50
Speaker 4: Can go ahead? Finish?
• 22:53
Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying? Then just figure it out
• 22:54
Speaker 2: for the next couple of years.
• 22:55
Speaker 4: Yeah, just keep improving and figure out where you want
• 22:57
Speaker 4: to be. Has Dion even come out and made like
• 22:59
Speaker 4: an official statement about his his son's play. I haven't heard.
• 23:03
  Speaker 4: I don't think which.
• 23:04
Speaker 2: Yes, I would. I think he should. I think he
• 23:06
Speaker 2: should say that because.
• 23:08
Speaker 4: There is his own problems in Colorado.
• 23:10
Speaker 1: Yeah, there isn't any There isn't any reason for him
• 23:14
Speaker 1: to even speak on that.
• 23:15
Speaker 4: You know, and again, but sometimes it doesn't matter whether
• 23:19
Speaker 4: he needs to speak on it or not. We know
• 23:21
Speaker 4: Dion likes to speak on it, especially when it comes to.
• 23:23
Speaker 1: I think if Dion gets in it, I think it
• 23:26
Speaker 1: gets muddy. And I think and I and I truly.
• 23:28
Speaker 4: Think he hasn't So.
• 23:31
Speaker 1: I think this would be I think they would end
• 23:34
Speaker 1: up either trading or cutting. I think they're going to
• 23:37
Speaker 1: trade on Prougust. And again, it's just you know, he
• 23:40
Speaker 1: coached the son in whole life. It's time to let
• 23:42
Speaker 1: the training wheels off, and you got to let him
• 23:44
Speaker 1: go be a pronounce yeah, yeah, which I think he
• 23:47
Speaker 1: did a good He's done a good job because he
• 23:50
Speaker 1: hasn't said to me, I haven't heard anything of him
• 23:53
Speaker 1: speaking out over it.
• 23:54
  Speaker 2: Yeah, he may.
• 23:55
Speaker 4: He may be facing a hot seat in Colorado with
• 23:57
Speaker 4: the record they have and what's going on in the
• 23:59
  Speaker 4: Big Twelve. I mean it's I know it's Dion, but
• 24:03
Speaker 4: this year's been been tough on that on the Buffalo,
• 24:06
Speaker 4: all right, So if they were next to last and
• 24:08
Speaker 4: the Big Twelve, if we.
• 24:09
Speaker 1: Want to switch to Dad real quick, Okay.
• 24:11
Speaker 4: So I'm just saying he maybe he's got a lot
• 24:15
Speaker 4: of things on his plate and like Hollis just said
• 24:18
Speaker 4: his son needs to figure it out for himself. He's grown,
• 24:21
Speaker 4: he's a great man now he's in the NFL, and
• 24:23
Speaker 4: he needs to do this. And then Dion probably needs
• 24:25
Speaker 4: to focus on his own health and his own issues
• 24:27
Speaker 4: with football in Colorado in my opinion, but.
• 24:30
  Speaker 2: I'm with you.
• 24:32
Speaker 1: I think his health is actually a thousand times more important,
• 24:38
Speaker 1: or should be important everybody's health.
• 24:41
Speaker 2: Than him trying to stay at Colorado for what? For who?
• 24:45
Speaker 1: Why is why am I staying in this situation, trying
• 24:50
Speaker 1: to turn this program around, make it something great? Why
• 24:55
Speaker 1: am I doing that when my own individual health is
• 25:00
Speaker 1: I'm having issues with my health.
• 25:02
Speaker 4: Do you think that this question is for both of you?
• 25:06
Speaker 4: Do you ever think that Colorado would put pressure on
• 25:08
Speaker 4: him to step down or do you think it's a
• 25:10
Speaker 4: position that Dion will He can do what he pleases
• 25:13
Speaker 4: as long as he as he pleases.
• 25:16
  Speaker 1: I don't regardless, I don't think so he can. I
• 25:18
Speaker 1: don't think that they're going to give him that. I
• 25:20
Speaker 1: think he might he's used to having that right right,
• 25:25
Speaker 1: but he's not, nor is he used to having what's
• 25:28
Speaker 1: called what people might call failure. He doesn't know what
• 25:33
Speaker 1: that feels like or he's never really been through it.
• 25:37
Speaker 1: Everything that he has ever tried to do, he didn't
• 25:39
Speaker 1: just do it, he did it great, and all of
• 25:42
  Speaker 1: a sudden, now he's in a situation where it's it's
• 25:46
Speaker 1: not at this point, it's not even good.
• 25:47
Speaker 4: I mean he's had six I saw this on the
• 25:49
Speaker 4: internet today. He's had sixteen surgeries since twenty twenty one. Yeah,
• 25:54
  Speaker 4: that's a lot.
• 25:54
Speaker 2: If I'm if I'm the school.
• 25:56
  Speaker 4: I mean, I'm.
• 25:59
Speaker 1: Sitting him down and say, look, your health is more
• 26:04
Speaker 1: important to us than you trying to you trying to
• 26:09
Speaker 1: run our football program. You need to you need to
• 26:12
Speaker 1: go take care of yourself for your family, get a
• 26:16
Speaker 1: chance to do the things that you need to do, and.
• 26:20
Speaker 2: And we can and we move on.
• 26:22
Speaker 1: I think just because of his health, like number one,
• 26:24
Speaker 1: you don't have the energy to recruit like you need
• 26:26
Speaker 1: to and you don't have and I think you just
• 26:30
Speaker 1: you can't be the draw like you were initially. So
• 26:33
Speaker 1: I think him, Travis and his son Shador was like
• 26:36
Speaker 1: there was a big draw. There was a lot of hype,
• 26:38
Speaker 1: a lot of energy was the swag, the glasses, everything
• 26:41
  Speaker 1: around it.
• 26:41
Speaker 2: So that's kind of wane. And then the football is
• 26:44
  Speaker 2: just not great.
• 26:45
Speaker 1: So you know, it's like I said, Colorado is a
• 26:48
Speaker 1: tough place to recruit, you know, from everywhere else and
• 26:51
Speaker 1: it's in the Big twelve. So I think it's one
• 26:53
Speaker 1: of the situations where it's probably gonna be another year
• 26:55
Speaker 1: or two then we'll see him transition to something else.
• 26:58
Speaker 1: You think you think he's gonna go two more, You
• 27:00
Speaker 1: think there could be two more, yeay, one or too
• 27:01
Speaker 1: many years. I think he wants to figure out if
• 27:03
Speaker 1: he can win or not. But like again, I just
• 27:05
Speaker 1: don't know if you have the energy to really do that.
• 27:07
Speaker 1: And I think the hype is gone.
• 27:09
Speaker 2: I do too, I think I think the hype is gone.
• 27:11
Speaker 4: I don't know. People were pretty excited in Morgantown when
• 27:14
Speaker 4: he was there. I mean people because I mean it's Dion.
• 27:17
Speaker 4: I mean the hype for him to be somewhere is
• 27:21
Speaker 4: still there. But oh yeah, I think as far as
• 27:23
  Speaker 4: the team goes.
• 27:23
Speaker 1: Yeah, I think I think Dion is always going to
• 27:26
Speaker 1: be appreciated wherever he goes. You know, he comes, He's
• 27:30
Speaker 1: coming to WU. Everybody's coming to that game because we
• 27:33
Speaker 1: want to just get a glimpse.
• 27:34
Speaker 2: Of him, just get a picture. Yeah. But for him
• 27:38
Speaker 2: on his own, on his individual.
• 27:41
Speaker 1: Side of it, he's got to look, he's got to
• 27:44
Speaker 1: look at his his own individual health. And now again
• 27:48
Speaker 1: he doesn't have anybody that to He has no loyalty
• 27:52
Speaker 1: to Colorado at this point. Now now that now that
• 27:56
Speaker 1: the boys are gone, you know, but I think he
• 28:00
Speaker 1: he's just that competitive that he just don't you know,
• 28:05
Speaker 1: he doesn't want to quote lose, and I don't know
• 28:07
Speaker 1: if him not having a winning record there is losing.
• 28:13
Speaker 1: I think the kids who he's touched, you know, I
• 28:17
Speaker 1: think all of them, sure for the rest of their
• 28:19
Speaker 1: life will be a Dion thing.
• 28:22
Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, so, oh well, the numbers are, but the
• 28:28
Speaker 4: numbers are not great. Like I think they're like three
• 28:30
Speaker 4: and seven overall, and they're like one in six conference play,
• 28:34
Speaker 4: which is yeah, big twelve. It's hard to hard to
• 28:40
Speaker 4: support that. I don't know. I mean as far as
• 28:42
Speaker 4: lay like we understand and as you know, people that
• 28:45
Speaker 4: understand football, but for the layman fan, you know, they
• 28:48
Speaker 4: want wins right period period.

Speaker 3: with Carl Lee. This is Let's Talk with Carl Lee.
• 30:19
Speaker 3: Now back to the conversation.
• 30:21
Speaker 2: So this is a story.
• 30:22
Speaker 1: We touched on a subject I would say we touched
• 30:24
Speaker 1: on a bunch of times as gambling and gambling around sports.
• 30:29
Speaker 1: You know, we heard obviously what happened with the NBA
• 30:34
Speaker 1: players and coaches and different things of that nature. But
• 30:37
Speaker 1: two stories popped up where we have some basketball players
• 30:42
Speaker 1: from the University of New Orleans got caught basically point shaving,
• 30:46
Speaker 1: and then we had some baseball players from the Cleveland
• 30:50
Speaker 1: Guardians who got caught I guess manipulating prop bets and
• 30:55
Speaker 1: I think, you know, and just to talk on the
• 30:58
Speaker 1: prop bets, you know, prop bests is like you can
• 31:00
Speaker 1: bet on something specific, like you can bet on what's
• 31:02
Speaker 1: going to be the first pitch, or or how what's
• 31:05
Speaker 1: the average speed, or what's going to be the coin
• 31:07
Speaker 1: toss and all those things. So when we talk about,
• 31:10
Speaker 1: you know, this continued culture of gambling and how embedded
• 31:14
Speaker 1: sports are, and we're gonna, in my opinion, we'll see
• 31:17
Speaker 1: more and more of these sort of stories. Just because
• 31:19
Speaker 1: we talked about Dionne and competitive. All these other athletes
• 31:22
Speaker 1: are competitive as well, and it's and it's a culture
• 31:25
Speaker 1: that a lot of these young men are growing up into,
• 31:27
Speaker 1: so they'll start gambling really has pre teens, and it
• 31:31
Speaker 1: persists even as they move and reticulate through professional ranks.
• 31:36
Speaker 1: So I mean, what what what do we do as
• 31:39
Speaker 1: a culture to address this, Like how do we figure
• 31:43
Speaker 1: out you know, or are we just going to continue
• 31:45
Speaker 1: to see story after story about this.
• 31:47
Speaker 4: I mean, I think once we had the NBA that
• 31:50
Speaker 4: the big you know bust of what happened with the
• 31:53
Speaker 4: coach down there, and are the coaches in the league
• 31:56
Speaker 4: and you know, all of that coming down. I think
• 31:59
Speaker 4: that the other stuff is going to start coming out too.
• 32:02
Speaker 4: We talked about this. You know, once the dam breaks,
• 32:05
Speaker 4: the water just comes rolling through, and so there's going
• 32:07
Speaker 4: to be more and more of these stories coming out
• 32:10
Speaker 4: from different angles in the sports world. I don't know,
• 32:14
Speaker 4: how you fix it now. I think that it's just
• 32:16
Speaker 4: so difficult when you turn on the TV in the commercial,
• 32:19
Speaker 4: you know, on ESPN's DraftKings, and we've talked about this,
• 32:22
Speaker 4: it's so easy to access. It's not like it used
• 32:24
Speaker 4: to be. You pick up your phone, you can gamble.
• 32:26
Speaker 4: You don't have to go to a casino. I don't know.
• 32:28
Speaker 1: I mean, I know one of the things they were
• 32:31
Speaker 1: talking about doing was getting rid of a lot of
• 32:33
Speaker 1: the prop bets, so all them like small little bets
• 32:36
  Speaker 1: you can make.
• 32:36
Speaker 2: Getting rid of that.
• 32:37
Speaker 1: Well, they do that, though I think they have to
• 32:39
Speaker 1: to a certain degree it in. They have to rein
• 32:42
Speaker 1: it in. But even to that point again, and it
• 32:44
Speaker 1: goes back to money in sports where you have the
• 32:47
Speaker 1: University of New Orleans basketball, which is a small I
• 32:50
Speaker 1: don't know if maybe a one double A program or
• 32:53
Speaker 1: FCS program, maybe even Division two, but those kids were
• 32:56
Speaker 1: getting like five they were approached by, you know, a
• 32:58
Speaker 1: big money guy. They're getting like, I have ten thousand
• 33:00
Speaker 1: dollars a game to fix games. Because now and again,
• 33:03
Speaker 1: that's what I want people to realize. It's not just
• 33:05
Speaker 1: betting on the Alabama's or the or the NFL, the
• 33:09
Speaker 1: NBA people. I read a story with this guy was
• 33:11
Speaker 1: betting on like women's basketball in Iceland. They're betting on
• 33:15
Speaker 1: like these like real like low soccer league. You don't
• 33:19
Speaker 1: have the Premier League, you have the other leagues. They're
• 33:21
Speaker 1: betting on soccer league. They bet on cricket, they're betting
• 33:23
Speaker 1: on stuff across the water. They're betting on like darn near,
• 33:26
Speaker 1: like amateur sports like minor excuse me, league. So it's
• 33:30
Speaker 1: like it just it just seems like it's not stopping.
• 33:34
Speaker 1: It's just getting worse and worse and worse worse. Okay,
• 33:37
Speaker 1: And that's a valid, very valid point, and I'm gonna
• 33:41
Speaker 1: I'm gonna go from there.
• 33:44
Speaker 2: So back in the day when I was playing.
• 33:48
Speaker 1: You didn't have you didn't have gambling commercials, you didn't
• 33:52
Speaker 1: have all of this kind of stuff that that's out front.
• 33:57
Speaker 1: So if you were gambling and you couldn't gamble on
• 34:00
Speaker 1: on football, more than likely you probably wasn't gonna do it. Now,
• 34:03
Speaker 1: did somebody do it? I'm sure somebody got away with it.
• 34:06
Speaker 1: Somebody may have gotten caught and I don't even remember,
• 34:09
Speaker 1: but in today's market, who Okay, So you're gonna tell
• 34:15
Speaker 1: me not to gamble, But you're gonna have gambling as
• 34:20
  Speaker 1: a as a sponsor. You're like, you're you're putting these
• 34:24
Speaker 1: things out there for what? Because you want to make
• 34:27
Speaker 1: this money? So when you're promoting gambling, it's part of
• 34:33
Speaker 1: every football commercial. You're promoting that.
• 34:39
Speaker 4: And ESPN has its own segment that you know, So
• 34:45
  Speaker 4: how are you.
• 34:46
Speaker 2: How are you gonna do that?
• 34:48
Speaker 1: Like, how are you gonna How am I gonna make
• 34:50
Speaker 1: you I'm promoting something that's gambling and I'm telling you
• 34:54
  Speaker 1: that it's illegal.
• 34:56
Speaker 2: How does that work?
• 34:57
Speaker 4: Society's normalized it, like it's like you know, and I
• 35:00
Speaker 4: believe that's not it's not tapio.
• 35:01
Speaker 2: Well, I mean, I think again.
• 35:03
Speaker 1: The problem is when we're again with these two stories
• 35:05
Speaker 1: with the baseball players and the basketball players, it's not
• 35:08
Speaker 1: that they were even gambling. They were involved in the
• 35:11
  Speaker 1: manipulation of it.
• 35:13
Speaker 2: You see what I'm.
• 35:13
Speaker 4: Saying, it's anticipating I help you.
• 35:15
Speaker 2: I'm gonna help you get that I'm gonna help you
• 35:17
  Speaker 2: get that money.
• 35:18
Speaker 1: I'm like, so, I gues We've seen this before, but
• 35:22
Speaker 1: I'm just thinking, like how much are we? How much
• 35:24
Speaker 1: have we? Is it already happened? I'm sure there's been.
• 35:26
Speaker 1: It's been happening over the last year. These guys who
• 35:29
Speaker 1: got caught, this wasn't their first time. It wasn't their
• 35:31
Speaker 1: first time, and there's more people who are doing it.
• 35:33
Speaker 1: So again, has you have these degenerate gamblers or just
• 35:36
Speaker 1: people with deep pockets approaching you? And I'm playing basketball
• 35:39
Speaker 1: and I probably don't have a shot at going into
• 35:41
Speaker 1: the to the NBA. I may not be getting any
• 35:43
Speaker 1: in any nil money. Heck, if you're gonna offer me
• 35:46
Speaker 1: five ten thousand dollars a game to you know, throw
• 35:49
Speaker 1: a game or fix a game, or make sure we
• 35:51
Speaker 1: don't score any prisonsble, I wouldn't not do that because
• 35:54
  Speaker 1: we're because we're in a we're in a culture of
• 35:57
Speaker 1: of you know, of tip for tap. We're in a
• 35:59
Speaker 1: culture of like what you've done well, culture of just
• 36:01
Speaker 1: give me some money. I'm find a way to get
• 36:03
Speaker 1: some money. That's my ni l Yeah, that's yeah, Yeah,
• 36:07
  Speaker 1: I'm fixing games.
• 36:08
  Speaker 2: Yeah.
• 36:09
Speaker 4: And I remember we had this conversation before, Matt. You
• 36:11
Speaker 4: were talking about how it's getting easier for these people
• 36:16
Speaker 4: that do these types of gambling schemes to get in
• 36:19
Speaker 4: contact with the players point because of the different events, schools,
• 36:24
Speaker 4: are doing now for for fans to get a better experience,
• 36:27
Speaker 4: and like, tell us about the one Matt Man in
• 36:31
  Speaker 4: social media for.
• 36:32
Speaker 1: Sure, so you could just DM somebody and say, hey.
• 36:34
Speaker 4: Yeah it was like but but it was something about
• 36:38
Speaker 4: I think it was was it Ohio State?
• 36:40
Speaker 2: Man, it was Cavaliers?
• 36:42
Speaker 4: Okay, Cleveland, Sorry it was Pro Go ahead tell.
• 36:45
Speaker 2: Us a little bit. Yeah.
• 36:45
Speaker 8: They're just creating kind of like a almost sort of
• 36:48
Speaker 8: like a private club where you have to pay five
• 36:51
Speaker 8: figures to get in there, and it's going to give
• 36:53
Speaker 8: you extra access to players.
• 36:54
Speaker 2: It's going to get you.
• 36:56
Speaker 8: It's kind of like the next level beyond if you're
• 36:59
Speaker 8: like already a regular season suite holder. It's just kind
• 37:03
Speaker 8: of like an exclusive group within.
• 37:05
  Speaker 2: The exclusive career.
• 37:06
Speaker 4: Who's got the money to do that? The people that are,
• 37:09
Speaker 4: you know, promoting these schemes that are getting to the
• 37:11
Speaker 4: players and saying, hey, I've got something for you, and
• 37:13
Speaker 4: then do something for me.
• 37:14
  Speaker 2: Think about it.
• 37:15
Speaker 1: Think about if they can get to a professional basketball
• 37:18
Speaker 1: player and they can make some sort of deal or
• 37:20
Speaker 1: in the pockets, what do you think is going to
• 37:22
Speaker 1: be for somebody that goes to State or Glenville or
• 37:24
Speaker 1: you see, like because literally they're betting on those games. Yes,
• 37:28
Speaker 1: those games are getting betted on. So it's not just
• 37:31
Speaker 1: like I said, it's not big games, not just the
• 37:33
  Speaker 1: big games.
• 37:34
Speaker 2: So it's all sports now.
• 37:35
Speaker 4: And the fact that so did NIL open this door,
• 37:39
Speaker 4: you think to a degree.
• 37:40
  Speaker 1: I think gaming gambling in general, I think N I
• 37:44
Speaker 1: l because it made it about the money money again.
• 37:47
  Speaker 2: Because again, and.
• 37:48
Speaker 1: I want to preface this by saying that, you know,
• 37:51
Speaker 1: not gambling gambling has been.
• 37:53
Speaker 2: Going on for a long time. Sports.
• 37:54
Speaker 1: We see the other sports shaving gamble, excuse me, scandals,
• 37:57
Speaker 1: So we've seen this before. This is not necessarily new.
• 38:00
Speaker 1: But I just think we're going to see it to
• 38:01
Speaker 1: a level that we haven't seen it before. I think
• 38:04
  Speaker 1: because it's it's been showing up. I think it's showing
• 38:10
Speaker 1: up in football because to your point, it's probably always
• 38:16
Speaker 1: been there. Somebody was doing it, but nobody cared enough
• 38:21
Speaker 1: to really go deep diving into it. But now when
• 38:25
Speaker 1: you start looking at the other sports and you're finding
• 38:28
Speaker 1: it constantly. But I think what happened is the prop
• 38:32
Speaker 1: bets made it different because now it's not about it's
• 38:35
Speaker 1: not about winning. I don't have to throw the game
• 38:37
  Speaker 1: if I'm I can. I can literally make a bet
• 38:40
Speaker 1: that says, you know, the point guard to WVU, his
• 38:43
Speaker 1: first shot is going to be a three point shot.
• 38:46
Speaker 1: I can make that bet probably somewhere, and if he
• 38:48
Speaker 1: makes it, then I can win. So it's not about
• 38:51
Speaker 1: you don't have to like throw the game, but you
• 38:52
Speaker 1: don't have to, like you know, your ethical or memorial
• 38:55
Speaker 1: standard doesn't have to be compromised. You could just say, hey,
• 38:58
Speaker 1: I'll take that first three and I'll collect whatever.
• 39:01
Speaker 2: You know, this guy's gonna pay me.
• 39:02
Speaker 1: So so I think it's just I think to your point,
• 39:05
Speaker 1: that's what's opening up because you have such the variety
• 39:08
Speaker 1: of bets and in ways than which you can bet.
• 39:11
Speaker 2: And do you think the guys who.
• 39:12
Speaker 1: Are are getting tied up in this type of betting,
• 39:18
Speaker 1: do you think that they think, like, like, it's not
• 39:21
Speaker 1: me really betting, because I'm not really betting. I'm not
• 39:23
Speaker 1: going to really like necessarily gambling. It's just that they're
• 39:27
Speaker 1: not saying I don't have to throw the game. I
• 39:29
Speaker 1: don't have to. I don't have to risk throwing a game.
• 39:32
Speaker 4: They don't feel morally, yeah I can do that. Yeah,
• 39:36
  Speaker 4: it's not a big deal.
• 39:37
Speaker 1: I don't think of looking as like an ethical or
• 39:39
Speaker 1: moral issue as it relates to playing or keeping the
• 39:43
Speaker 1: sanctity of the game. I don't think they're looking at
• 39:45
Speaker 1: it like that. It's just like it's one little thing
• 39:46
Speaker 1: I can do it. So I think that's probably one
• 39:49
Speaker 1: thing that's going to have to go.
• 39:51
Speaker 4: Okay, So who who, though, who decides the bets have
• 39:54
  Speaker 4: to go.
• 39:55
Speaker 1: I think it's going to have to be a combination
• 39:56
Speaker 1: of the leagues in the in the gaming books and
• 39:59
  Speaker 1: seeing I don't think I don't think they have I
• 40:01
Speaker 1: don't think they have a partnership. Well. I think what
• 40:03
Speaker 1: happens is that I know I can't specifically remember which one,
• 40:06
Speaker 1: but I know one of them limited, so you can
• 40:09
Speaker 1: only bet up to like two hundred bucks. I think
• 40:11
Speaker 1: it maybe want to parlay in some prop bets so
• 40:13
Speaker 1: you can only there's a max of how much you
• 40:15
Speaker 1: can bet, how many times you can bet it. So
• 40:17
Speaker 1: I think in their mind, well, you're not gonna win
• 40:19
Speaker 1: big money, so you can't bet like five hundred thousand
• 40:22
Speaker 1: dollars on this prop bet anymore. So I think they're
• 40:24
Speaker 1: trying to do things like that without necessarily like eliminating
• 40:27
  Speaker 1: them totality.
• 40:29
Speaker 2: But I think too. If it's available.
• 40:32
Speaker 1: To me, if I have access to it as a player,
• 40:37
Speaker 1: that's really not your fault, you know, because you're not
• 40:41
Speaker 1: really as the as the gambling organization. It's really not
• 40:44
Speaker 1: your your responsibility for me to go. My rule is
• 40:49
Speaker 1: I'm not supposed to be able to gamble, so I
• 40:52
Speaker 1: should not go. Okay, I should not. I should not gamble.
• 40:55
Speaker 1: So the moment that I come, nobody's in front of me.
• 40:59
Speaker 1: I don't think I'm going to get come again. The
• 41:01
Speaker 1: issues not gambling per se. The issue is fixing the game,
• 41:06
Speaker 1: manipulating it. That's the issue. That's the issues Like Damon Jones,
• 41:12
Speaker 1: But as far as related to him, I want to say,
• 41:14
Speaker 1: Damon Jones, well, one of the NBA guys, his issue
• 41:18
Speaker 1: wasn't gambling per se. His issue was given the inside information,
• 41:21
Speaker 1: who's not playing, who's not playing?
• 41:23
  Speaker 2: Who said now?
• 41:24
Speaker 1: Who injured contributes issue? So that's what Muddy's in toxic
• 41:28
  Speaker 1: the water.
• 41:29
Speaker 4: Because but he's placing money and it's betting on something,
• 41:32
Speaker 4: and any type of betting is a form of gambling.
• 41:35
Speaker 1: I'm talking about No, no, no, I'm not talking you're you
• 41:38
Speaker 1: guys are right on that, But that's not the issue.
• 41:40
Speaker 1: The issue is them releasing inside information or I'm fixing
• 41:44
  Speaker 1: something to.
• 41:46
Speaker 4: Help this, helping the gambling, they're helping the games.
• 41:50
Speaker 2: They're manipulating the game because.
• 41:53
Speaker 1: And you're letting Lisa know that I'm not playing this,
• 41:57
Speaker 1: you're not playing she can make a bet related to
• 41:59
Speaker 1: that somehow. So that's that's the issue. And I'm saying
• 42:03
Speaker 1: if it was just gambling, that's one thing. But when
• 42:05
  Speaker 1: we're actually you're manipulating the books, that's where you're gonna
• 42:08
  Speaker 1: have a problem.
• 42:09
  Speaker 2: Man.
• 42:09
Speaker 1: And eventually it's gonna come to you know, somebody's gonna
• 42:12
  Speaker 1: throw a fix a game and it's gonna be a
• 42:13
  Speaker 1: big one.
• 42:14
Speaker 8: Let me ask you this, how far of separation do
• 42:16
Speaker 8: you think it's gotta be. Let's say NBA player A
• 42:21
Speaker 8: decides he wants to gamble nothing that involves him or
• 42:23
Speaker 8: his team, but he wants to bet on something that
• 42:26
Speaker 8: involves player B. Do you think that players should be
• 42:30
Speaker 8: able to bet on other teams, other players in the
• 42:33
  Speaker 8: league or.
• 42:35
Speaker 2: That's crazy because and I know and I know what
• 42:39
  Speaker 2: it is now.
• 42:40
Speaker 1: I think if like, if I play in the NBA,
• 42:42
Speaker 1: I can bet on the NFL, But I'm not supposed
• 42:44
Speaker 1: to bet on the NBA again. I just think it
• 42:46
Speaker 1: muddies the water because we know all these NBA guys,
• 42:49
  Speaker 1: they have relationships.
• 42:51
  Speaker 2: So it's just if I'm.
• 42:52
Speaker 1: Gonna make that prop bet on my this guy that
• 42:54
Speaker 1: I know, I play for the Laker, he plays for Dallas,
• 42:57
Speaker 1: it's just the yeah, look right, because we don't know
• 43:01
Speaker 1: how that can manipulate it. I just I think I
• 43:05
Speaker 1: just think at some point the leagues are going to
• 43:08
Speaker 1: have to fight a different revenue stream. I don't think
• 43:10
  Speaker 1: it's a league. I can be fully in this. I
• 43:13
Speaker 1: can be fully vested in this. This could be a
• 43:15
Speaker 1: sponsor of mine. I can have the star of my
• 43:18
Speaker 1: league in Draft Lebron James is in Draft King commercial
• 43:21
Speaker 1: I know, yes, Like like how like what are we doing?
• 43:25
Speaker 1: And you're gonna and I'll make the case he may
• 43:27
Speaker 1: not even drink. He might be that athlete that don't
• 43:29
Speaker 1: that that doesn't drink, Yeah, that doesn't gamble, but he's
• 43:32
Speaker 1: gonna be in it, yeah because it's Draft King.
• 43:36
  Speaker 2: Yeah.
• 43:36
Speaker 4: Well, but here's the other part of it. Guys, And
• 43:38
Speaker 4: I know what you're saying about, like you shouldn't be
• 43:40
Speaker 4: allowed to to bet in your you can, like if
• 43:43
Speaker 4: you're an NFL player. You can bet on NBA, but
• 43:46
Speaker 4: you can't bet on NFL stuff, right, But all of
• 43:49
Speaker 4: these professional athletes kind of run in the same circles
• 43:53
Speaker 4: and and so you know, they're they're all in the
• 43:55
Speaker 4: same you know, income brackets, so to speak. So they're
• 43:58
Speaker 4: going to the same parties, they know this same people.
• 44:01
Speaker 4: You know that. There are all good points, you know.
• 44:03
Speaker 4: So so really there's not a whole lot of differentiation
• 44:07
Speaker 4: between betting one professional sport from another. Now, college is
• 44:10
Speaker 4: a whole different animal, we're not we're not talking about that.
• 44:13
Speaker 4: But at the professional level, these guys don't know each other.
• 44:15
  Speaker 2: That's true. That's a good point, Listen, that's a good point.
• 44:17
Speaker 1: I just think, I think in order to maintain the
• 44:21
Speaker 1: safety to the game, to to not corrupt it to
• 44:23
Speaker 1: a point where people don't believe it, where it becomes WWE,
• 44:26
  Speaker 1: I think you.
• 44:27
Speaker 2: Just got to get rid of it.
• 44:28
Speaker 4: That's just the faith of fans.
• 44:30
Speaker 1: I think, lose the faith. I think you just got
• 44:33
Speaker 1: it at some point. It's got to be a total
• 44:35
Speaker 1: separation like it was before. And and because if you
• 44:38
Speaker 1: if you, if you, if you just try to say
• 44:42
Speaker 1: that if a player gets caught gambling at this level,
• 44:47
Speaker 1: it's you're out. You can't do anything, Like you should
• 44:51
Speaker 1: not be able to bet on any sport at all
• 44:56
Speaker 1: because you're because you're in it, you know what I'm saying,
• 44:58
Speaker 1: Like you like you're you're the basketball player, I'm the
• 45:01
  Speaker 1: football player.
• 45:01
  Speaker 2: We're buddies.
• 45:02
Speaker 1: We went to the same college, Hollis. Won't you let
• 45:07
Speaker 1: me know some information? You know it's such and such
• 45:09
Speaker 1: playing you know, Okay, I'll let you know.
• 45:12
Speaker 2: Were easy to do this, that's.
• 45:14
Speaker 1: So easy to do, particularly now we could just do
• 45:17
Speaker 1: somebody exactly. I just, like I said, I just think
• 45:20
Speaker 1: I don't know, you gotta get rid of it. That's
• 45:22
Speaker 1: just my opinion. And it's got to be a hard
• 45:25
Speaker 1: line and it's got to be a wall in between
• 45:27
Speaker 1: that so it doesn't cross.
• 45:28
Speaker 4: And I'm totally in agreement. But I don't know how
• 45:30
Speaker 4: it happens with revenue. I mean, you know that they're
• 45:33
Speaker 4: so neat, they're so deep into the money part of it,
• 45:36
Speaker 4: the revenue that they're generating, being in bed with all
• 45:39
Speaker 4: these gambling platforms. I don't see it happening anytime soon.
• 45:42
Speaker 9: I'm trying to figure out, like, like how how did
• 45:46
Speaker 9: this all just start to develop, Like, you know, where's
• 45:50
Speaker 9: the startup of making the connections with the NFL player,
• 45:58
Speaker 9: the NBA player, Like who's making that is that?
• 46:01
Speaker 1: Are we making the case that that's somebody in the
• 46:03
Speaker 1: mafia or because I got to be available for you?
• 46:07
  Speaker 1: I don't see if you're the mafia guy, if you're
• 46:09
Speaker 1: the head guy, why am I even How do I
• 46:12
Speaker 1: even know you? How do we know each other? How
• 46:15
Speaker 1: do we get to this point? It's like, if you're
• 46:17
Speaker 1: hanging around people at a certain tackle income bracket, it's
• 46:21
Speaker 1: going to be guys in the underworld who make that
• 46:23
Speaker 1: same level of money.
• 46:24
  Speaker 2: So and if you're a.
• 46:25
Speaker 1: Person who likes to play cards or this or that,
• 46:27
Speaker 1: then you know, one thing leads to another and then
• 46:30
Speaker 1: you find yourself maybe owning a couple million or a
• 46:32
Speaker 1: couple hundred thousand, which you can't pay right now. So
• 46:36
Speaker 1: I think it's probably easier than what we think. And
• 46:40
Speaker 1: like I said, if you're just in this environment where
• 46:42
Speaker 1: it's gambling just is omnipresent, it's all around you, it's
• 46:48
Speaker 1: stuff like it's going on.
• 46:49
Speaker 4: And I think that the root of all of it
• 46:51
Speaker 4: is years ago when they legalized online gambling. I mean
• 46:55
Speaker 4: it went from having to go to a casino to
• 46:57
Speaker 4: place a bet and you know, do things in person,
• 47:00
Speaker 4: to just all access for everybody. And when they started that,
• 47:04
Speaker 4: it just the ball just started rolling and it just
• 47:07
Speaker 4: kind of infiltrated sports and every other aspect in society.
• 47:11
  Speaker 7: Well.
• 47:11
Speaker 8: And it was a it was a Supreme Court ruling
• 47:13
Speaker 8: in twenty eighteen was the big one because it used
• 47:16
Speaker 8: to be that every state had control over whether or
• 47:20
Speaker 8: not they legalize it, and then that shot that down.
• 47:23
Speaker 8: And so that's what opened up all these you know,
• 47:26
Speaker 8: bet MGM, draft kings, that type of stuff, because now
• 47:29
  Speaker 8: it's nationwide.
• 47:30
Speaker 4: Yes, you're right, you're right, you're absolutely right.
• 47:33
  Speaker 2: I don't. I can't.
• 47:35
Speaker 1: I can't honestly say I can ever remember like any
• 47:39
Speaker 1: form of betting, gambling of any sort being a commercial.
• 47:48
Speaker 2: You know, even even being at the game. Yeah, you
• 47:53
Speaker 2: know the video board is.
• 47:54
Speaker 1: Going to have you know, some something up there, whether
• 47:59
Speaker 1: it's alcohol or gambling, there's gonna be something like that there. Yes,
• 48:05
Speaker 1: And why would why would you? Why would the why
• 48:08
Speaker 1: would the ownership? And this is a bad example, but
• 48:13
Speaker 1: get in bed with all of these types of organizations
• 48:19
Speaker 1: where yeah, I get it, it is I know, for fact,
• 48:22
Speaker 1: it's money. But how men are you? How are you
• 48:25
Speaker 1: correcting me? How can you correct me?
• 48:30
Speaker 2: How you're gonna tell me?
• 48:31
Speaker 1: I guess it's just like you can drink, but you
• 48:33
Speaker 1: can't drink and drive, So it's limits to it, or
• 48:36
Speaker 1: or or or the parent situation of like do as
• 48:42
Speaker 1: I say, not as I do, because I think that
• 48:46
Speaker 1: I mean, at the end of the day, I really
• 48:48
Speaker 1: truly think that that's that's that's really where we are.
• 48:51
  Speaker 1: But I think we're gonna lose. I think we're gonna
• 48:54
Speaker 1: lose a lot of a lot of the fan base.
• 48:59
Speaker 1: Let one big scandal come out.
• 49:01
Speaker 2: Of a football team. Yeah, let's say a Super Bowl.
• 49:06
Speaker 4: People already complained, they said, oh, it's fixed.
• 49:08
Speaker 5: I mean, the time you're hearing that the NFL fixed,
• 49:12
  Speaker 5: every call.
• 49:13
Speaker 4: It's going to take is one, Like you said, one scandal,
• 49:16
Speaker 4: and that's just gonna solidify the idea that it's all fixed.
• 49:20
Speaker 1: I'm done with, you know. Yeah, and you're gonna lose
• 49:23
  Speaker 1: your fan base.
• 49:24
  Speaker 7: Yeah.
• 49:24
Speaker 8: Well, and like leagues like the NBA, I mean, they're
• 49:27
Speaker 8: already like fifty percent viewership down. Then you add in
• 49:31
Speaker 8: stuff like this, I don't think that's going to help
• 49:33
  Speaker 8: them at.
• 49:33
Speaker 1: All at all, and I and I really really really
• 49:37
Speaker 1: think that it could sink, yeah, the NFL.
• 49:41
Speaker 4: Like I may sink the NBA. And to your point, Matt,
• 49:45
Speaker 4: I mean there they were already on the edge of
• 49:48
Speaker 4: some problems anyway financially, so this isn't good.
• 49:52
  Speaker 2: All right.
• 49:52
Speaker 1: And to that point, let's say your team, you find
• 49:57
Speaker 1: out that your team is running the scandal. So like
• 50:01
Speaker 1: all of a sudden, I figure out like some some
• 50:04
Speaker 1: people have been betting at the Viking or through the
• 50:06
  Speaker 1: Viking organization.
• 50:09
Speaker 2: How do you how do you react to that? Like,
• 50:12
Speaker 2: is that like I'm no longer involved with them.
• 50:14
Speaker 4: But I think it would be even harder. I mean
• 50:16
Speaker 4: not just for the person who watches them on TV
• 50:18
Speaker 4: from week to week, but those season ticket holders, those
• 50:20
Speaker 4: people who shell out the money, yeah, week to week,
• 50:24
Speaker 4: you know, being a fan, going to the games when
• 50:27
Speaker 4: they're at home, and you know all all the things
• 50:30
Speaker 4: that come with that. I mean, the people that are
• 50:32
Speaker 4: really investing their money, which is a lot of blue
• 50:35
Speaker 4: collar people, you know, that's that's the NFL fan base.
• 50:38
Speaker 4: And when they find out that, you know, there's been
• 50:40
Speaker 4: some tinkering with their team, you know that that's gonna
• 50:43
Speaker 4: they'll be disillusioned and a lot of them will pull
• 50:45
Speaker 4: their money away from that. I would, I think I would.
• 50:48
Speaker 4: I mean, if that's what happens, it.
• 50:50
Speaker 2: Would be hard It would be hard pressed for me to.
• 50:54
Speaker 1: To go to a Viking game under the under the
• 50:59
Speaker 1: con concept of of knowing that someone has someone has
• 51:08
Speaker 1: been or is in the process we're finding out that
• 51:12
Speaker 1: they're gambling or whatever. I don't even know, like like
• 51:17
Speaker 1: why would I even be involved quote in the team
• 51:21
Speaker 1: aspect of that. Yeah, And I think that's the and
• 51:24
  Speaker 1: I think that's I think that's what the NFL doesn't
• 51:27
Speaker 1: really or in the NBA and even baseball, like you
• 51:31
Speaker 1: don't understand like how fragile the fan base former players
• 51:40
Speaker 1: when you're already getting I'm looking at you and you're
• 51:42
Speaker 1: a current player and you're making all this kind of money.
• 51:44
Speaker 1: I made this little bit of money when I was playing,
• 51:47
Speaker 1: and the next thing I find out is is you're
• 51:49
  Speaker 1: you're in a gambling scheme.
• 51:51
  Speaker 2: Why am I?
• 51:52
  Speaker 4: Like, that's a tough pill.
• 51:54
Speaker 1: Yeah, this is one of those deals like morals, ethic,
• 51:57
Speaker 1: sanctity of the game versus capitalism. So how was it
• 52:02
Speaker 1: so you went to Minnesota this week?
• 52:03
Speaker 2: How was it this weekend? It was?
• 52:06
Speaker 1: It was actually it was really good. It was cold, man,
• 52:10
Speaker 1: it was cold. We we went we went maybe like
• 52:13
Speaker 1: about five or six different places we go to like
• 52:16
Speaker 1: little sports bars and stuff.
• 52:18
Speaker 2: Like that, and and.
• 52:19
Speaker 1: And sign and and and the best thing about it
• 52:23
Speaker 1: is like a lot of these folks are probably never
• 52:27
Speaker 1: They're never going to be have an opportunity to maybe
• 52:31
Speaker 1: go to a game or meet a player. And so
• 52:36
Speaker 1: so when you're going, are you going to Minneapolis? Are
• 52:38
Speaker 1: you going to just traveling the state?
• 52:40
  Speaker 2: We're out. Yeah, we're out.
• 52:41
Speaker 1: We're we're probably at We went about an hour and
• 52:44
Speaker 1: a half, I think was the furthest trip outside of Minneapolis.
• 52:46
Speaker 1: We took an hour and a half and we stayed.
• 52:48
Speaker 1: We stayed to night and shoot, I can't even remember
• 52:53
Speaker 1: the town. But and these are like towns that like
• 52:56
Speaker 1: I didn't even know the names of them when I
• 52:59
  Speaker 1: was there.
• 52:59
Speaker 2: That's cool. But man, the fan base is so there.
• 53:05
Speaker 1: It's it's it makes you feel good because like they're
• 53:08
Speaker 1: they're going crazy, like I mean, you know, they're and
• 53:13
Speaker 1: the biggest guy, Tommy Kramer, who is is he's really
• 53:18
Speaker 1: slow now you know he's you know, he doesn't drink anymore.
• 53:23
Speaker 1: He may drink some non alcoholic beer, but he's like
• 53:27
Speaker 1: everybody wants his signature.
• 53:30
  Speaker 2: Everybody.
• 53:31
Speaker 1: If you're standing there and you've got one pitcher left
• 53:35
Speaker 1: and Tommy's got a line of one hundred people, they're
• 53:38
Speaker 1: gonna be the one hundred and one person.
• 53:40
Speaker 2: And and they just and they just they just love him,
• 53:45
  Speaker 2: and and I.
• 53:46
  Speaker 1: Feel I feel like I feel bad because I don't
• 53:49
Speaker 1: know if he even can he's he's even able to
• 53:53
Speaker 1: appreciate it when you're out there like that.
• 53:56
Speaker 4: You know, do you guys end up at the game
• 53:58
  Speaker 4: on Sunday?
• 53:59
Speaker 2: We No, we didn't get to the game this.
• 54:01
Speaker 4: You didn't get to see the Bears beat the.
• 54:03
Speaker 1: Viking Sunday, So so this will Can we make sure
• 54:10
Speaker 1: this is Lista's last show?
• 54:13
Speaker 4: Get my pink slip ready as usual? They have a
• 54:16
Speaker 4: stock there, Carl. They just handed to me when I
• 54:19
Speaker 4: walk out the door.
• 54:21
Speaker 2: This is this is your last show? For sure.
• 54:24
Speaker 1: It was that was a that was really like and
• 54:27
Speaker 1: we didn't watch like we weren't like in depth into it,
• 54:29
Speaker 1: but we got it down.
• 54:32
Speaker 2: When you get down to the end of the game.
• 54:33
Speaker 1: It's like, how do we how do you how do
• 54:36
Speaker 1: you lose that, and then what and then what here's
• 54:38
Speaker 1: the here's the benefit of being like a former player.
• 54:42
Speaker 1: I'm sure, I'm one hundred percent sure we've lost games
• 54:44
Speaker 1: like that, right, yeah, but I can't understand why they're
• 54:48
Speaker 1: losing them like that. Now you know it's because the
• 54:52
Speaker 1: exactly yeah, I mean.
• 54:55
  Speaker 4: And and.
• 54:58
Speaker 1: Keith Mallard is a guy that you know, a lot
• 55:01
Speaker 1: of people might not know his name, but he he
• 55:05
Speaker 1: he comes, and he's a he's probably like about six
• 55:10
Speaker 1: five and probably right now he's probably about to forty
• 55:16
Speaker 1: or whatever. He was Defensive Player of the Year. I
• 55:19
Speaker 1: think he was a runner up another year after in
• 55:23
Speaker 1: between that, and he was one of the best pass
• 55:29
Speaker 1: rushers that we had had that we had had, especially
• 55:32
Speaker 1: as an inside guy.
• 55:35
Speaker 2: And the crazy thing about him is like he is.
• 55:37
  Speaker 1: So if somebody hears this, they'll they'll they'll they'll they'll
• 55:44
  Speaker 1: think differently.
• 55:45
  Speaker 2: But he's like.
• 55:46
Speaker 1: He's so cool and calm and collective. But he like
• 55:50
Speaker 1: he has his temper.
• 55:51
Speaker 4: Is like short, short, like like doesn't take it.
• 55:56
Speaker 1: Doesn't take much. Like he like, man, let's just go,
• 55:59
Speaker 1: let's why we got to still be here. But he
• 56:02
Speaker 1: is like the like the really like the greatest dude
• 56:05
Speaker 1: that that I think, like that maybe that I played
• 56:09
Speaker 1: with And when it comes to like he's not coming
• 56:13
Speaker 1: to Minnesota if guys that he likes are not coming,
• 56:17
Speaker 1: regardless of what you're paying, he ain't coming. He ain't
• 56:20
Speaker 1: getting on the plane. He's checking to see you know
• 56:23
Speaker 1: who's here. Yeah, he has never And the crazy thing
• 56:27
Speaker 1: about it, he's never lost that true quote teammate thing,
• 56:33
Speaker 1: that loyalty to your teammate. I mean, that's that is
• 56:38
Speaker 1: that's embedded in him today. Yeah, you know, and and
• 56:43
Speaker 1: I wish I had that. But I love him, you know,
• 56:46
Speaker 1: just because like you know, it's kind of that deal
• 56:49
Speaker 1: like where you can see and appreciate somebody who loves you.
• 56:53
Speaker 2: He would, he would, he would do anything to protect you. Wow.
• 56:58
Speaker 4: You know, And maybe that's what the game needs right now,
• 57:01
Speaker 4: you know, just overall, just a little bit of love.
• 57:03
  Speaker 2: Yeah.
• 57:05
Speaker 1: Again, and to your point, Lisa, I don't really know
• 57:09
Speaker 1: if the league, if players build that relationship like old days.
• 57:16
Speaker 1: You know they do, man, you think they do. I
• 57:19
Speaker 1: would hope, you know what I'm saying. Again, we don't know,
• 57:21
Speaker 1: but we've seen the good teams. You look at the
• 57:24
Speaker 1: you know, the ravens, look at the Chief, look at
• 57:26
Speaker 1: the Bill. They seem to have a synergy amongst them.
• 57:29
Speaker 1: And when you have those guys who sort of step
• 57:31
Speaker 1: out of line, they figure out a way to get
• 57:33
Speaker 1: rid of these guys quick. So I hope that's still
• 57:35
Speaker 1: the case because I think that, you know, we need,
• 57:38
Speaker 1: we have to do whatever we can do to just
• 57:40
Speaker 1: hold onto some semblance of you know, just that traditional
• 57:46
Speaker 1: sporting thing like where these guys can capture a piece
• 57:49
Speaker 1: of our imagination and we can just sort of live
• 57:52
Speaker 1: vicariously through them as they you know, their career. And
• 57:56
Speaker 1: to that, I think to show the younger general of
• 58:01
Speaker 1: what teamwork looks like, what role models are supposed to be,
• 58:06
Speaker 1: you know, all of those kinds of things. I think
• 58:08
Speaker 1: it is really I think it's hard to do that now, man,
• 58:11
Speaker 1: because you're just so overexposed about everything. Like I think
• 58:15
Speaker 1: a part of like that role model part of that,
• 58:18
Speaker 1: you know, if you look at Michael Jordan's that mystique,
• 58:21
Speaker 1: right you see him on a commercial may seem in
• 58:23
Speaker 1: a movie, but you're not seeing him like every day.
• 58:25
Speaker 2: You're not liked g all the time.
• 58:28
Speaker 1: And I think sometimes the more these guys talk, the
• 58:30
Speaker 1: more you're just like, geez, you know that, stop talking?

Speaker 2: You know. Yeah, well.
• 58:41
Speaker 1: I'll say and I don't want to like to throw
• 58:44
Speaker 1: throw mud on current players, but we were always kind
• 58:51
Speaker 1: of taught, like even in an interview. So if I'm
• 58:53
Speaker 1: having an interview after the game and I let's say
• 58:55
Speaker 1: I get a game winning interception, DA, what's my conversation about.
• 59:00
  Speaker 2: It's about the d lineman.
• 59:01
Speaker 1: You know, how they had been put put pressure on him,
• 59:04
Speaker 1: you know, and that that forced that quarterback to not
• 59:08
Speaker 1: it was never going to be about your yourself. And
• 59:11
Speaker 1: I don't know if coaches coach that or teach that,
• 59:14
Speaker 1: or players get that or understand that, because I think
• 59:18
Speaker 1: it's I think it is really now a truly individualized
• 59:22
Speaker 1: if I'm the star, if I think I'm the best
• 59:24
Speaker 1: player on that team. Because I don't think you were
• 59:26
Speaker 1: concerned about the personal brand of Carl Lee. No, I
• 59:30
Speaker 1: don't think that was the fourth thought. I think for
• 59:34
Speaker 1: some guys it was, but it was everything. I think
• 59:37
Speaker 1: it happened to them. They understood like they like it.
• 59:41
Speaker 1: It was put on them. A guy like Anthony Carter
• 59:44
Speaker 1: a se you know, he his legacy was was was
• 59:48
Speaker 1: given to him. He didn't want it, and he didn't.
• 59:50
  Speaker 2: Live up to.
• 59:50
Speaker 1: What I'm saying is that even though got like a
• 59:52
Speaker 1: guy now in the NFL, you don't have to be
• 59:54
Speaker 1: a superstar in order to attract an audience. So like,
• 59:58
Speaker 1: if I have the opportunity to have the mic and
• 1:00:00
Speaker 1: I say something salacious or outrageous, then ask people want
• 1:00:03
Speaker 1: to be checking my ig and protecting my social media.
• 1:00:07
Speaker 2: So yeah, so it's like I can build a.
• 1:00:08
Speaker 1: Personal brand and I don't have to be like the
• 1:00:10
Speaker 1: biggest thing out or the nicest guy. I don't got
• 1:00:12
Speaker 1: to be the nicest guy. I can build on. However,
• 1:00:14
Speaker 1: I want to build it, and if I can get attention,
• 1:00:16
Speaker 1: that's good enough for me.
• 1:00:17
Speaker 2: For some guys, bro anything else.
• 1:00:21
Speaker 1: Yeah. All right, well, ladies and gentlemen, we're gonna get
