  of the core major programs is number two in the nation against number one at

  home. We got to talk volleyball first, So what what do we think

  is gonna happen? I heard some interesting takes on like if you were a

  betting person and had to go in and take the winner, and how many

  sets it was gonna be. I had heard some interesting thoughts on it.

  We are at home. And I also heard that one of Wisconsin's setters.

  They run a six to two system in volleyball, which means they have two

  setters. One of their setters is not playing, but they do still have

  that Annas Mark or whatever her name is in the middle, the six to

  eight chick. That's like ginormous. We're obviously the number one defensive team in

  the country have been for a while. But Wisconsin they're just they're just gritty

  and we are missing. Correct. If we have lost ten in a row

  to Wisconsin, ten, that's surprisingly bad, very bad. That's like the

  only team we lose to outside of like Stanford and maybe Louisville. Dak,

  nor Northwestern this year, actually his first year. He was at North Dakota

  State previously for four years as their defensive coordinator and then spend his time at

  a bunch of smaller schools prior to that. But he is a young pup.

  He is very young. He started his coaching career two does and eight,

  so I mean that was when he was in He's probably in his mid

  thirties right now, and he looks young. But he's done some good things,

  and by getting this team to fight, I think Rule is talking about

  them a lot in a positive manner. You're to praise Pat Fitzgerald a lot,

  but this is not going to be a team. I think that we're

  gonna beat fifty six to seven like we did a couple of years ago.

  And one, I don't think we can score fifty six no matter who we're

  playing. But two, I think there's gonna be some fight there from Northwestern,

  and it's gonna be a big ten West football game. It is just

  going to be. That's what we should expect. The biggest thing is can

  we come out on top. I agree with your statement. Just looking forward,

  I think there is a little bit more interest and excitement, But I

  think that's also because you know, we're talking about Northwestern and just looking down,

  it's like, well, we got some winnable games and we are seeing

  progress in the right direction. I could easily see this losing to Northwestern because

  Northwestern has They're just they're finicky. There are years where we think we should

  beat them and then we don't. There's years where we should have beat them

  and we do. I think they're doing better than most people thought they would

  this year based on last year and then how the season started. Yeah,

  that's I thought. I thought they were gonna be absolutely awful this year,

  not even getting to what they're at right and I don't think they even get

  three wins with how they lost their coach and everything. But come back from

  We've we've had We've had some battles against Northwestern, for sure, and

  that the most recent and memorable one over in Ireland. I don't have the

  the number of one score games that we have been in with Northwestern, I

  mean since held the early twenty ten, twenty twelve, thirteen, I mean

  it every year seemed like it was a three point game, a one point

  game, a four point game, a three point game. It don't want

  to call them a rival, but in a way, they kind of were

  the battle of the n US and and both teams have had their moments of

  competing. I guess Northwestern has actually been more recent years made I think they

  didn't they make it to a Big Ten Less championship in twenty twenty. Yeah,

  so they haven't been great in the past couple of years, but they're

  feisty. They're always are. Fitzgerald, I think it was a great coach,

  still is a good coach. I'm obviously not with them anymore. But

  it's not going to be a game that we should just expect to win just

  because we're three in three now, and I think unfortunately, guys, unfortunately

  Shocker Husker fans probably are going into this game saying we expect to win this

  game. I think, yeah, I really do think people are very Northwestern

  three. You should we got along er. Nebraska should definitely win this game.

  like put other teams down and like put a target on her back. And

  I mean kind of what happened this year is Colorado allegedly with what Rule's comments

  were, But it was like Frost would speak negatively or say things about opponents.

  It was like Trev told the Rule to say, Hey, you got

  to come out no matter how bad the team is, you just got to
• 16:37
  talk them up. You got to make him feel like they're the best team

  ever in the world. So nobody thinks that, you know, you're taking

  a shot at him it almost feels like that. And also the same thing

  with the alumni, like it seems like rule believes in getting all of the
• 16:52
  old Huskers involved. But it's almost like, is that something coming from Trev

  saying hey, Matt, like this is a really good idea to do this,

  do this. I guess it probably doesn't matter who it's coming from.

  It's the fact that it's actually matter. I think the the pumping up your

  opponents, I think that's just smart. Like one, it's just like there's

  no reason in you to come out and be like, yeah, Northwestern's a

  terrible team. You just put yourself in a position to be wrong. You

  were you telling us they're a terrible team? And you come in here and

  lose, well, and then you don't give them bulletin board material. Like

  I think it's dumb. Whenever coaches are like, yeah we should beat this

  team or that team, you know they don't do this right. They don't

  do this right. Don't worry about that. Worry about your own team because

  then when if you trash talk, I was gonna come back and bite you

  That's ultimately what matters, right Like if an opposing team's coach can spin

  something or take something and make his players believe it like, that's ultimately what

  it comes down to. I think Rule is very very good at doing that

  side of it with his players. I think he's able to motivate them and

  take his words or other people's words and use them to accomplish a goal or

  task on football field. So I think he does a really good job of

  that himself. But he's definitely hyping up Northwestern in a team that you know,

  at the beginning of the year, that was one of the games that

  we said we probably should win this game, and we're sitting here basically at

  name yet they got a few different guys on the roster. Ben Bryant's been

  confident when you're gonna win this game. I don't think Northwestern is a good

  whole Rutgers Northwestern game. Well there was a reason why I did, but

  mid season review here, went through each position, gave our review of where

  we're at through six games, and then what we kind of expect moving forward

  for this game specifically, but the rest of the year as well. What

  position group do you guys think needs to perform better for us to have the

  most success for the rest of the year or this this week. If you

  want to leave it at that, wide receivers yep, same exact thing.

  Maybe running back hold on the ball. Yeah, I mean you could make

  the argument that wide receivers need to play better is really a product of if

  your quarterback plays better, your wide receivers play better. Question Mark. Maybe,

  but I don't want twelve times well, right, I don't think our

  receivers are doing Henrik a lot of help. Give him so I'm going the

  complete opposite direction because one, I don't think our wide receivers need to play

  better at all because we're not going to use them. We don't need to

  use them. That's not what we're trying to do. And on top of

  that, I don't know how much better they can get. I just don't

  know how much talent there is is a group. Now, maybe there's some

  tricks in the bag with Malachi Coleman, some of these young guys Jayalen Woyd

  that we haven't quite seen yet because we're going through a bunch of injuries.

  But including the injuries, I just don't know how much more we can expect

  from that group. So like that was like, honestly, that was my

  last pick not to like No, Okay, I mean I might be a

  little bit ironic or whatever. Guys, it's the kicking. It is the

  punting and field goal kicking. It's been very average. Both of them have

  been, if not below average. If we're going to play this style for

  these last six games, in these grinder battle out games, we need a

  punter that is going to be sound and not have a shank one every four

  punts. We need a field goal kicker that can just be automatic from inside

  forty five. Right now, we haven't had that, and I think they

  both have the capability to do so, but we haven't shown that so far.

  because you're right, like, we can't turn the ball over, we

  can't fumble it, so they have the backfield from that standpoint. If that
