- 0:00Speaker 1: Here's your host, Alex Garrett. All right, Well, a couple
- 0:06Speaker 1: of Thanksgiving observations, and of course, really a reason to
- 0:10Speaker 1: be thankful every year is to be thankful that we
- 0:13Speaker 1: see another day of life and experience life as it
- 0:17Speaker 1: is in its current form. But I'm looking at my
- 0:21Speaker 1: Chicago Bears sweater and I'm reminded they play the Eagles
- 0:24Speaker 1: today on Black Friday, because when the end of all
- 0:28Speaker 1: has to oversaturate Thanksgiving Holiday with football?
- 0:30Speaker 2: Am I right? Am? I right? And I do hope
- 0:33Speaker 2: the Bears continue their hot streak against the Eagles.
- 0:36Speaker 1: And on the sports side of things, my observation from
- 0:39Speaker 1: Thanksgiving yesterday was simply this, when the Chiefs lose, it's.
- 0:44Speaker 2: A national sports story.
- 0:46Speaker 1: The First Take and other outlets over the night and
- 0:50Speaker 1: this morning, leaning in with the fact that the Chiefs lost,
- 1:03Speaker 1: and they lost to the Cowboys, who, as Colony Romo
- 1:06Speaker 1: and Jim Nantz pointed out, As they pointed out, could
- 1:11Speaker 1: run the table if they beat Detroit next week. I mean,
- 1:14Speaker 1: this team, you know, gets rid of Micah. There's a
- 1:17Speaker 1: lot of stuff going on with this team, yet here
- 1:20Speaker 1: they are in prime position to take over the conference,
- 1:24Speaker 1: which I haven't seen that from Dallas in a while,
- 1:27Speaker 1: Dak not making the mistakes that he usually does. It's
- 1:30Speaker 1: been a different team for Dallas this year. So we'll
- 1:33Speaker 1: see what happens out of that. But I do hope
- 1:35Speaker 1: my bear, my Dad's bears. I'm sure my bears. I mean,
- 1:38Speaker 1: I want the Giants to succeed, but I want the
- 1:40Speaker 1: Bears to succeed for my dad, and when they do,
- 1:43Speaker 1: I'm happy as well. So they played a day Black Friday,
- 1:48Speaker 1: and then the other observations from this thing.
- 1:53Speaker 2: Seeming obviously it was dimmed because of the horrible shooting.
- 2:01Speaker 1: Of two National Guard right outside the White House, which
- 2:04Speaker 1: my mom and I were outside the White House back
- 2:06Speaker 1: in March, so you think, my god, how fortunately we
- 2:13Speaker 1: were there to be in March before things went into
- 2:15Speaker 1: chaos in DC. The female National Guards woman died, so
- 2:22Speaker 1: she's effectively murdered by the Afghan immigrant and a shooter.
- 2:32Speaker 1: And it's horrible. But I wonder if deploying five hundred
- 2:36Speaker 1: more to combat this is the right answer, because I
- 2:42Speaker 1: get it, you want to keep the streets safe.
- 2:44Speaker 2: But I hate to say, this is almost.
- 2:46Speaker 1: Like annahou continual little bombing of Palestine, which really harms
- 2:51Speaker 1: innocent Jewish Americans because.
- 2:54Speaker 2: They get the wrath of what the Israeli government does.
- 2:58Speaker 1: Well, can we say it plainly that what our government does,
- 3:02Speaker 1: including the seditious six and President Trump, by installing more
- 3:07Speaker 1: National Guard, it incites violence.
- 3:11Speaker 2: It incites violence. I know he's trying to protect us,
- 3:14Speaker 2: but when you're already pissing off.
- 3:16Speaker 1: People by installing the National Guard, doing it again wion't
- 3:19Speaker 1: lead to more chaos.
- 3:22Speaker 2: So that's my take on that. And we do pray
- 3:24Speaker 2: for the families.
- 3:27Speaker 1: Of the National Guards woman and the guardsmen that were shot,
- 3:31Speaker 1: one killed, just devastating, devastating heading into Thanksgiving and then
- 3:41Speaker 1: here in New York. Thankfully the parade went off without
- 3:44Speaker 1: a hitch. But I have a message, and I haven't
- 3:47Speaker 1: talked for a.
- 3:47Speaker 2: Little bit, so I want to get all this out.
- 3:49Speaker 1: I want to stretch my leg here and talk to
- 3:50Speaker 1: you for a second here on Black Friday. I don't
- 3:55Speaker 1: really give a crap if Zora Mundani isn't not the parade,
- 3:58Speaker 1: if he's doing local charity work with those like Al
- 4:02Speaker 1: Sharpton and others, and feeding veterans on Veterans Day and
- 4:06Speaker 1: feeding the homeless on Thanksgiving and doing those different food drives.
- 4:10Speaker 1: I have no problem with that, as long as he
- 4:14Speaker 1: doesn't touch the parades as well. It's one thing to
- 4:17Speaker 1: not show up to the parades. But Dora Mondani, in
- 4:21Speaker 1: case you haven't noticed, the Veterans Day, the Columbus Day,
- 4:25Speaker 1: Thanksgiving Day are all institutions in New York. And your
- 4:31Speaker 1: hands can serve the people of New York at a
- 4:34Speaker 1: food kitchen, but they better not touch our parades. They
- 4:39Speaker 1: better not touch our parades. It's one thing you don't
- 4:41Speaker 1: show up at all the parades, but if you start
- 4:43Speaker 1: messing around with them, that's when we're gonna have a problem.
- 4:47Speaker 2: Because you come in you're.
- 4:48Speaker 1: Saying I don't like parades or that and the other.
- 4:49Speaker 1: You give them middle finger to Clustopher Columbus. You're not
- 4:52Speaker 1: even at the Veterans a parade, then you're not there yesterday. Meanwhile,
- 4:58Speaker 1: Curtis was always there. I mean, this is why he
- 5:00Speaker 1: should have been given a chance.
- 5:03Speaker 2: Give it more votes.
- 5:03Speaker 1: He's always at these different things. Saint Patrick's DA Parade
- 5:07Speaker 1: another institution of a parade. Maum, Donnie's hands can serve
- 5:11Speaker 1: the poor, can serve the needy, can serve the veterans.
- 5:16Speaker 1: If he chooses that overgoing to a parade, but his
- 5:20Speaker 1: hands better not touch the fabric of the city.
- 5:23Speaker 2: And these parades make up the fabric of New York City.
- 5:29Speaker 1: Tomorrow, next year's gonna be one hundred years of the
- 5:32Speaker 1: Thanksgiving Day parade.
- 5:33Speaker 2: One hundred years. How awesome is that? So, mam Donnie,
- 5:39Speaker 2: you can stay away, you can not be part of.
- 5:41Speaker 1: The festivities, but don't make policies that screw it up
- 5:45Speaker 1: either or completely upended either.
- 5:50Speaker 2: By the way, if I'm gonna add.
- 5:51Speaker 1: These thoughts to my stream right now on the one
- 5:55Speaker 1: leg of alex Onetime dot Pro, I'm streaming this weekend
- 6:01Speaker 1: my Thanksgiving thoughts on gratitude, thankfulness and being great and
- 6:06Speaker 1: Thanksgiving all weekend long.
- 6:09Speaker 2: I gotta remember to start up again for Sunday, but
- 6:11Speaker 2: for today and tomorrow at least you'll get twenty four
- 6:14Speaker 2: hours of.
- 6:16Speaker 1: Coverage and I'm excited to share that with you in
- 6:19Speaker 1: the link below. But yeah, zoramum Donnie, you can choose
- 6:25Speaker 1: to not go to the parades. You can choose to
- 6:28Speaker 1: crap on parades saying you don't go to them, you
- 6:30Speaker 1: don't find use in them, but just let them be
- 6:32Speaker 1: the fabric of New York City. Will you don't touch them.
- 6:37Speaker 1: You don't have to be there, but don't touch them
- 6:39Speaker 1: with policy either. And that's where I stand on that
- 6:44Speaker 1: here from a long up network. Now, another disturbing sat
- 6:49Speaker 1: I saw in New York One yesterday. Did you know
- 6:53Speaker 1: that twenty million dollars worth of Thanksgiving food go to waste?
- 7:08Speaker 1: I mean twenty million foods.
- 7:14Speaker 2: Going to waste. New York One had this whole.
- 7:23Speaker 1: Stat on it, and I was fascinated, because we can
- 7:26Speaker 1: do better as a country.
- 7:30Speaker 2: We can certainly do better in the city. I mean
- 7:34Speaker 2: there's city harvest.
- 7:35Speaker 1: There's local food drives that were going on for Thanksgiving,
- 7:38Speaker 1: and turkeys were given out, and those are always special
- 7:40Speaker 1: moments to cover. And I believe the mets and meetings
- 7:44Speaker 1: had their food drives as well.
- 7:47Speaker 2: But I mean, twenty million dollars worth of food go
- 7:57Speaker 2: to waste, and that's a shame.
- 8:13Speaker 1: Because that would be three hundred and sixty two nine
- 8:21Speaker 1: hundred and eighty one thanks iming have gone to waste.
- 8:25Speaker 2: I guess Trump said this over the week. But and
- 8:32Speaker 2: then our refed RIFBD.
- 8:35Speaker 1: Estimating three hundred and twenty million pounds of food will
- 8:38Speaker 1: be wasted as Thanksgiving.
- 8:39Speaker 2: Three hundred and twenty million pounds of food will be wasted.
- 8:43Speaker 1: There's so many resources to go and donate the food
- 8:46Speaker 1: you don't want.
- 8:47Speaker 2: To have or you can't have. And yes, I'm getting
- 8:54Speaker 2: my one Like Up Award of a Day as well.
- 8:55Speaker 2: Don't worry. But I had I had a get this
- 8:59Speaker 2: off my chat.
- 9:04Speaker 1: Because when I see these stats of twenty million dollars
- 9:07Speaker 1: three hundred well actually five hundred fifty million dollars worth
- 9:11Speaker 1: of food, three hundred and twenty million pounds of food
- 9:18Speaker 1: that equals twenty and sixty seven million meals.
- 9:25Speaker 2: Could be wasted.
- 9:27Speaker 1: That is a new analysis by Reathing Food Waste, and
- 9:30Speaker 1: I do want to get them on through economics and data,
- 9:34Speaker 1: rethink food waste economics and data, because.
- 9:38Speaker 2: How do we fix this? It's Giving Tuesday, this upcoming Tuesday.
- 9:43Speaker 2: How do we fix that?
- 9:46Speaker 1: Here in New York and here in the country, forty
- 9:53Speaker 1: percent of what gets tossed on Thanksgiving is Turkey?
- 9:58Speaker 2: So how do we fix that?
- 9:59Speaker 1: Refe Thank you for this analysis, thank you for the awareness,
- 10:02Speaker 1: But how do we fix twenty five hundred and fifty
- 10:05Speaker 1: dollars fifty million dollars worth of food.
- 10:09Speaker 2: Being tossed out?
- 10:16Speaker 1: I think we should get Refed on the One Leg
- 10:19Speaker 1: Up Network to discuss this announcement and and find out
- 10:25Speaker 1: how to fix that, and look at city harvest, look
- 10:29Speaker 1: at local food drive, sit combat to this. That's an
- 10:33Speaker 1: epidemic wasting the food, and an epidemic because there are
- 10:38Speaker 1: people hungry and starving, and yet those who can afford
- 10:43Speaker 1: it are throwing out five million dollars worth of food.
- 10:49Speaker 1: It's grotesque. It's affluential, but it's grotesque and which we
- 11:00Speaker 1: need to fix. Find a way to fix that. So
- 11:02Speaker 1: I'll then email Refed and get them on the show
- 11:04Speaker 1: here on the Woe Ling Up Network to figure out
- 11:07Speaker 1: how we can absorb this data, fix it and make
- 11:11Speaker 1: sure people don't overbuy.
- 11:16Speaker 2: And when they do, how do we preserve the rest
- 11:19Speaker 2: of it? That's the question.
- 11:22Speaker 1: We're gonna have one leg up on preservation and not
- 11:25Speaker 1: waste five hundred million dollars of food when there are
- 11:28Speaker 1: many out there that could use a how a warm.
- 11:32Speaker 2: And hearty meal this holiday season. So let's have one
- 11:38Speaker 2: leg up for those that can't afford it by not
- 11:42Speaker 2: wasting our food. Moving forward, can we make a pledge
- 11:46Speaker 2: to do that. It's Giving Tuesday, this coming.
- 11:48Speaker 1: Up I'm gonna try and get on to talk about
- 11:50Speaker 1: all this and then tomorrow.
- 11:53Speaker 2: Tomorrow is Small Business Saturday, and I'm excited about that.
- 11:57Speaker 2: But I also believe small Business Saturday every day?
- 12:00Speaker 1: Do I think that should be a slogan, the message
- 12:06Speaker 1: small Business Saturday.
- 12:07Speaker 2: Should be every day. But yes, shop small tomorrow.
- 12:12Speaker 1: And they'll get works and they'll get cash back, and
- 12:16Speaker 1: they'll get everything.
- 12:19Speaker 2: Directed to them.
- 12:21Speaker 1: The small businesses that are the economic engine of the country.
- 12:28Speaker 2: I mean, I would love to have back on.
- 12:33Speaker 1: Bruce from the Small Business League of America because he
- 12:36Speaker 1: and I had a great conversation about these small businesses.
- 12:39Speaker 1: But apparently small businesses account for ninety nine percent of
- 12:45Speaker 1: all businesses, employing forty six percent of the private workforce.
- 12:50Speaker 1: So when you celebrate and honor small business, you are
- 12:54Speaker 1: giving back not only to your local business that needs it,
- 13:00Speaker 1: and probably five years after COVID is still needing your support.
- 13:05Speaker 2: But there's a resurgence.
- 13:08Speaker 1: And look, new business applications have surged four hundred and
- 13:12Speaker 1: thirty thousand per month in twenty twenty four, fifty percent
- 13:14Speaker 1: more than twenty nineteen small business applications. Forty three percent
- 13:19Speaker 1: of self employed Americans are female, Black, Asian and Hispanics.
- 13:23Speaker 1: Small business owner optimism is rebounding over seventy percent. Expect
- 13:27Speaker 1: revenue to grow in the next year. Just look at
- 13:30Speaker 1: ai AI's got to cover with those stats.
- 13:35Speaker 2: Shout out to Gemini for that. Just type in small
- 13:37Speaker 2: business stats.
- 13:39Speaker 1: So here on the one ling Up Network, I wish
- 13:43Speaker 1: you a happy thing Skimming week.
- 13:44Speaker 2: We're gonna have another interview coming up soon with Scott Martin.
- 13:49Speaker 1: Martin and he's a He was a collegiate soccer coach
- 13:54Speaker 1: that got it with a debilitating flushing disease, but he
- 13:57Speaker 1: has not let that stop him. I'm gonna load that
- 14:00Speaker 1: podcast a bit later today. Maybe got a Terminalo's taken
- 14:02Speaker 1: here for his thoughts on Thanksgiving and and the sports
- 14:08Speaker 1: aspect of it, the richness of the sports aspect of
- 14:10Speaker 1: the Big three games that happen every year now including
- 14:15Speaker 1: the lines in the Dallas tradition, and so yeah, it's
- 14:25Speaker 1: a It's always one of my favorite holidays, my favorite
- 14:28Speaker 1: holiday of all.
- 14:29Speaker 2: This Thanksgiving, and I cannot wait.
- 14:37Speaker 1: To uh to share more this Christmas holiday season with you.
- 14:43Speaker 2: But I don't know what's your favorite holiday, Alex Janwi
- 14:46Speaker 2: dot com. For me, it's Thanksgiving. That's holiday. It's the
- 14:49Speaker 2: most beautiful holiday. It's the one where we're not divided
- 14:52Speaker 2: at all.
- 14:55Speaker 1: We just seen come together as family and put everything aside.
- 14:59Speaker 1: And that's where we to try to do every day
- 15:02Speaker 1: in an act of thankfulness, gratitude and thanksgiving.
- 15:07Speaker 2: That's my thanks to me message
- 15:08Speaker 1: For twenty twenty five here on the one Log Up
- 15:11Speaker 1: with Alex Garrett podcast
