- 0:00Brothers and sisters, Assalam Alaikum, it's good to be back.
- 0:05Season 6. We're here.
- 0:07And before I say anything else, I just need to say what called
- 0:10Rabbi Zidney Alma Ahmed you. Gave me that look.
- 0:29Guys, welcome back to. Good.
- 0:32To be back, should we address the elephant in the room?
- 0:37I don't know as you're not saying anything's changed.
- 0:40Everything's changed. Why is it always elephant?
- 0:41Why can't it be like the lion? Ahmed has to say.
- 0:44Yeah, I like it, man. I hope you guys like it as well.
- 0:48Very traditional old vibes. And we thought, yeah, we're
- 0:51getting old now, so we need to age with this thing, yeah.
- 0:55Which about martial laws getting younger?
- 0:58At this point. Do you know what it is?
- 0:59The game has changed. I think you know who you look
- 1:01like. You know those Iranian Medahan,
- 1:03the short line. Mahdira Soli.
- 1:04Since that's the one. But no, it's good to be back,
- 1:08guys. Hope you guys have had a good
- 1:09break. Do you know Hamdallah, like for
- 1:12the last few months we've been saying we're working on a lot of
- 1:14changes with the set, with productions, with the shows.
- 1:18So it's good to be back and good to be with you here today.
- 1:22We're just going to kind of like really briefly introduce where
- 1:24we've been, what we've been doing, and just to kind of get
- 1:27the ball rolling the set. So for those who don't know,
- 1:33yeah, Samosa has been working hard on it.
- 1:36What's the inspiration? What are we doing here?
- 1:38What we're looking at? Is it like cafe vibes or?
- 1:42Full back story. I don't even know what the back
- 1:44story is, to be honest. But I think over the past four
- 1:49years we've been in the podcast, we sort of came out first with
- 1:51the what would you say the original set was?
- 1:53Like a neon rainforest? Yeah, the RGB vibe, but I think
- 1:58over the past three years there's been so many new
- 2:01productions which have I, I felt like have, I wouldn't say copied
- 2:06our style, but maybe like taking inspiration from our style and
- 2:09I, I wanted to like back away from it.
- 2:11I know. I see adverts right now on
- 2:13booking podcast spaces. They.
- 2:15All on the same now. And they all.
- 2:16Look like aftermath. Nothing to do.
- 2:17I think when we started it was like a fresh idea back then,
- 2:21five years ago. Also podcast, everyone wants to
- 2:22start a podcast now, you know what I mean?
- 2:24Which is cool and you know, we encourage it for to anyone and
- 2:27obviously within the shower while it's good, but.
- 2:29I think our position as afterwards we want to be
- 2:32leading, we don't want to be like everyone else.
- 2:34Charlotte, do you know what it is?
- 2:35So like we obviously there's an ancient Isfahani vibe here, but
- 2:41at the same time we're we also want to bring in like our
- 2:45Western culture. Yeah, I think we've spent like,
- 2:48especially me like in the whole graphic design scene, we, we
- 2:51sort of got bored of the simplicity, minimalistic, all of
- 2:54that stuff. And it, we, we sort of like
- 2:56started doing this traditional stuff nowadays as well.
- 2:59And I wanted to implement that in here.
- 3:01So I think what worked best is like what, what what we've gone
- 3:03for here, which is like the, well, like you said, the
- 3:06Asfahani traditional calligraphy bazaar sort of vibe.
- 3:12I actually got one of our friends to help me with this
- 3:15brother Eunice, who works a lot alongside us and he he has a lot
- 3:20of these bits and bobs that you see on set at home.
- 3:23So I was like, Eunice, I need a towel here.
- 3:25I need AI, need a, he gave me these things.
- 3:27But on the trumpets and the teapots, what are these, these
- 3:31bits and bobs? They made like a huge difference
- 3:33in this. OK.
- 3:33Let me ask you guys what what are your favorite items on the
- 3:37set say? Let me start with you.
- 3:39The chair. The.
- 3:40Chair how comfortable I am I took my shoes off you.
- 3:43Know the problem with these chairs it's like Ahmed said, you
- 3:46you feel guilty wearing shoes on the set now I.
- 3:48Took on my shoes last time. That's when you think about it.
- 3:51It's just a studio in it. It's not that idea you.
- 3:53Know I think every item complements the entire set.
- 3:56Yeah. It's perfect and I I told Ahmed
- 3:58I messaged Ahmed privately like 3 days ago.
- 4:01I said Ahmed, I'm scared, that's why.
- 4:06Ahmed had a talk with me. Had a breakdown.
- 4:08He's like, listen, you need to make sure say that at least have
- 4:11you on the set. Well, I was very worried about
- 4:13the outcome and. I think over time we'll adjust
- 4:17more things here and there until we're fully satisfied with it.
- 4:20But even as it is now, it's beautiful.
- 4:22There's a lot of people who put a lot of work into this.
- 4:24Yeah, yeah, for. Sure, if we want to go through
- 4:26names, I can't name everyone, but it's like St.
- 4:28Watson, help us build the chairs.
- 4:30Hyder Wahidi was here. He painted the room from
- 4:32scratch. Brother Emir Mahash.
- 4:35Brother Emir Sadiq Amar Oka Abusi, my little brother came
- 4:41along one day, St. Mohammed Khazir, who we're going
- 4:45to start a new series with him soon inshallah as well.
- 4:49I don't know if there's anyone else I've missed, but there's so
- 4:50many people and it's it's taken a lot of people and a lot of
- 4:53time to put all of this together.
- 4:55So. So these 8 individuals that you
- 4:57named, are any of them married? Oh my God.
- 5:00I don't think any of them are. Wow.
- 5:04In particular. No, these guys, some of these
- 5:07guys, some of these guys are like half our age.
- 5:10So we need to not half our age less than young.
- 5:13So it. Took eight to 10 men to put this
- 5:15together. Hamdullah.
- 5:16That's amazing. Notice it's the commitment and
- 5:18dedication this is for for the Imam of our time and our biggest
- 5:22aspiration is that one day we are able to give this to him and
- 5:25to make it for him and belongs dedicate for him and this is.
- 5:29Ready to have Emma? Slack was the one on the set
- 5:31with him. Michelle Long.
- 5:33That would be nuts. Episode 313.
- 5:35That's too. That's too far, bro.
- 5:38Yeah. No, but OK.
- 5:40But you didn't give me that. OK.
- 5:42You said the chair. Yeah.
- 5:42These are like built from scratch.
- 5:44Notice that Mustafa got these are actually wood from stairs.
- 5:48Like stair. What do you call it?
- 5:49Yeah. These are stanisters, yeah.
- 5:51So he built with the team, built them, and then got these
- 5:53cushions separately. OK, what's your favorite item on
- 5:56the set? Can I just interject?
- 5:59I really like the colour scheme. Yeah, me too.
- 6:01Yeah. I was worried why?
- 6:03Mainly not because of the layout, but the colours.
- 6:05I was like, you know, the branding we have is like green,
- 6:08purple, white, you know, we've. Given Hasib to rebrand the the
- 6:13the graphics and he's like, I don't think you should step away
- 6:16from the green and the purple. Recommendations to keep?
- 6:20It he hasn't sent it over to us yet By by the time this episode
- 6:23releases, yeah, we'll have the everything, the new intros and
- 6:26the new logos and all of that. Guys, if you are listening right
- 6:29now, drop in the comments. What's your favorite item on the
- 6:33set? What's your favorite thing on
- 6:34the set? Is there something you really
- 6:36like? Is there something that catches
- 6:37your attention the most? Maybe you don't know what
- 6:40something is or says. My own favorite item on the set
- 6:43is, I don't know if you guys can see, but I like, I really like
- 6:46these. What do you call it?
- 6:48The Vintage project, The vintage projectors, All the Vincents.
- 6:51How did they let me order it? Remember really send in the
- 6:53group as I gotcha ordered the. Shadows, the wall lights,
- 6:56there's so many beautiful things that came on our boss picture.
- 6:59There's so many beautiful items here, said what's?
- 7:02Tell me the story about this called anakaya which you're
- 7:05saying at the beginning. Play of the Book.
- 7:08I saw it in Men in Yeah and. Then women in is a.
- 7:10Smila Rahmad Rahim says what called the rugby?
- 7:13Is it near Alma? The translation to that is we
- 7:15asked Allah to increase us in knowledge.
- 7:17I was in Turkey and we were buying some calligraphy pieces
- 7:21for my house. Then I came across this and I
- 7:25was like, you know what? This is the most beautiful verse
- 7:28we can have an aftermath rib because collectively this is all
- 7:31on this journey in Charlotte to increase our knowledge.
- 7:33And it was the most simple thing.
- 7:34And I sent it to the WhatsApp group and you were like, yeah,
- 7:36bring your, bring it. And I was seeing it there really
- 7:39well. It's.
- 7:39Beautiful now that you've and it's a.
- 7:40Reminder actually. It's a good reminder for the did
- 7:43you? No, I didn't even break up.
- 7:44I just thought the calligraphy looks nice.
- 7:46That's what no boys. Perfect for the podcast trying
- 7:50to gain El man matter. Of fun, Charlotte.
- 7:53OK, let's move on, guys, because we don't want to spend too long
- 7:55this season before we get to that.
- 7:57This season, everyone at home, we're going to try and take into
- 8:00account all of the feedback you've given us, strong topics,
- 8:04relevant topics, topics which are current and also timeless.
- 8:08So it's important to be able to do that.
- 8:11In the last, let's say, six months, we've met so many, so
- 8:15many supporters and watch of the viewers from kind of around the
- 8:18world, in the UK and overseas as well, who've supported the work
- 8:22we do. And Hamdallah have been able to
- 8:24engage with us and share their feedback.
- 8:27Yeah, yeah. We've got some distractions
- 8:29behind the camera, but we want to hear from you.
- 8:31So drop in the comments below and let us know what you want to
- 8:34hear, what you want to see, who you want to see on the podcast
- 8:36this season. And we'll do our best to
- 8:38Charlotte to make it happen, boys.
- 8:40As of what we've got supporting such a long list to get through,
- 8:42by the way, what today? No, just generally, yeah.
- 8:45Topic and. Stuff that we want to do this
- 8:46week before. Endless.
- 8:48It's endless and. Then throughout the season.
- 8:49So a week ago, yeah, we got back from Toronto for the Omar
- 8:55conference, which was amazing. Hamdallah, we had a great time
- 8:59and thank you to everyone who made it happen and who came to
- 9:02to drop by and visit us. And the team said what?
- 9:06How did it happen and what did we do there?
- 9:10What didn't we do handle? I think we had the opportunity
- 9:13to firstly meet with so much people, those who have been.
- 9:17Literally. If I'm not mistaken, there was
- 9:19over 5127 attendees in the home of conference.
- 9:23That was that was the figure I saw on the screen, if I if my
- 9:26mind recollection is correct. But the most beautiful thing I
- 9:30had was interacting with those who have been listening to us
- 9:33over the years because we always look at our analytics.
- 9:36Canada is always like in the top five be on Spotify, Apple, even
- 9:40Instagram. You know, the recent episode we
- 9:42just released on on YouTube would say most of our sister
- 9:45Zara Alawi where we discussed pink cherry Islam.
- 9:49If you go to the countries most listen, Canada is #3 OK.
- 9:52So yeah. So like I didn't know we had
- 9:55that big of an audience that TuneIn we can week out to the
- 9:59extent they all knew we were on the season break.
- 10:01So usually when you interact with people, they say things
- 10:03like ah, Mashallah and good, keep up, etcetera.
- 10:06But they were all very particular with this.
- 10:09Well, not even when the season starting again, so that that
- 10:12that going to show me that Mashallah people are actually
- 10:15tuning in and the work that we do here is benefiting and it's,
- 10:18you know, reaching out and to the right audiences.
- 10:21That was for me on a personal level, But as as a team, we were
- 10:24able to handle our, you know, deliver a workshop.
- 10:27We were able to hold a live podcast with two olamar
- 10:33alongside sister Sahara Al Halloween, have a stall network
- 10:37with people. There was so much yeah.
- 10:39So much yeah. There's a lot to mention We.
- 10:41Did a podcast yeah on on as you said, pink cherry Islam, TikTok,
- 10:46imams, gender roles and kind of disputes and liberalistic kind
- 10:51of society we live in. That was the same as fuck 'cause
- 10:53we need sister Zahara Alawi, which is out now.
- 10:56You guys can TuneIn and watch that.
- 10:57We also did a podcast with Shekhar NASA, excuse me, Shekhar
- 11:01Zar NASA which is also online. That was on following Islam on
- 11:04autopilot and kind of blindly following religion, which is
- 11:09also online. So go and check, check that out,
- 11:11share it with your friends and family.
- 11:13Yeah, it was a great time, Hamdullah.
- 11:14Hopefully we can be back again in the future, whether it's
- 11:17there or somewhere else. And yeah, man, it was, it was
- 11:20amazing. It was absolutely amazing.
- 11:21So it watched over. What was your highlight in
- 11:23Toronto? Bro, we got so much sunnish
- 11:26Toronto. I was there like a week before
- 11:27you guys Yeah so I was attending the sheet of voice semi finals.
- 11:32The the turn out for that was unbelievable in itself.
- 11:36Like I think the the the community in Toronto, they
- 11:39really appreciate like high level production.
- 11:44Mashallah the community there already does high level
- 11:46production. Like I met guys from both JCC
- 11:49and Rasul Youth, all amazing. Amazing, amazing guys.
- 11:53Beautiful. Guys, they, they took us out.
- 11:55We, we met so many new people there and I can, I can firmly
- 11:59say that everyone's there like family to us now.
- 12:01A. 100 percent, 100% Too many, too many people there.
- 12:05And I don't even think we gave them enough appreciation while
- 12:07we were there, we were so busy. It felt like we've known them
- 12:10for years. Yeah, some.
- 12:11Just in those few hours that we spent together, yeah.
- 12:15And then them alone, they do amazing majorities productions
- 12:18more lead in their centers. And then for them to see like
- 12:21the London guys there doing share voice and then meeting
- 12:24people like us after Madre War, we met the likes of Mehdi Hassan
- 12:28there, Ose Aman Ashwan, who also like are involved with these
- 12:31things actively. They really appreciate our the
- 12:34the hard work that people do. And I think I think that was the
- 12:36highlight for me. Nice, nice.
- 12:39It was great. It was really good.
- 12:41OK guys, let's move on. Of course we are in the days of
- 12:44Fatima, and it is a season of mourning and grief for us all.
- 12:48And of course we have, you know, the three narrations at the time
- 12:52of recording. We are approaching the second
- 12:55narration as as as of right now. And of course, generally we
- 13:01reflect on the legacy and the lessons of say the Fatima Zarah
- 13:04Salam Alayhi. At the same time, we recognize
- 13:07that Say the Fatima stood out as someone who empowered both men
- 13:13but especially women, while maintaining her hijab.
- 13:18In the day and age we live in now, hijab is under attack.
- 13:24Hijab has always been under attack.
- 13:25It's always been scrutinized, villainized as well.
- 13:29But in secular society, it has become such that people will say
- 13:34hijab is incompatible. Hijab is an obstacle to growth
- 13:38or development of society. And most recently of which in
- 13:43Azerbaijan. Yep, which we all know about and
- 13:46you guys at home would have heard about in Azerbaijan.
- 13:48For those who are unaware, where you have a majority Shia
- 13:51population, hijab has become through.
- 13:55Without explicitly being worded as such, but anything which is
- 13:59seen as an obstacle to secular development in society has been
- 14:04barred and disbanded from being allowed in the educational
- 14:09system, specifically schools. Hijab has become the victim of
- 14:11this. So you're now having detainees,
- 14:15people who are being imprisoned, people who are have been taken
- 14:18by unknown figures and there's no contact with them.
- 14:21There's mass protests in Baku, but also around Azerbaijan and a
- 14:26huge, huge implication on the local region.
- 14:29So for example, in in Turkey, you're seeing, you know, other
- 14:32one and a lot of the ministers talk about hijab, the importance
- 14:35of hijab, as well as, of course, online using protests where we
- 14:38are in London at Azerbaijani Embassy, you're seeing protests
- 14:41in different cities around the world.
- 14:43I want to ask you guys, firstly, how do you feel when you see
- 14:47what's happening to our young sisters and our mothers in
- 14:51Azerbaijan and how it's affecting them and more So what
- 14:56can we do here? Some people say, well, it's
- 14:58irrelevant to us, like, you know, Azerbaijan is so far
- 15:00removed from our lifestyle, we don't know anything about what
- 15:02happens there. What can I do here?
- 15:06Enough said much Taba, if you want to go first.
- 15:10But this reminds me of the first episode.
- 15:11I was on the podcast as well. Yeah, Hem, hem.
- 15:14You got asked me about hijab. No, You know how it makes me
- 15:18feel. Yeah.
- 15:19I mean, we've had the opportunity to be blessed to be
- 15:22raised in the UK. Like I always compare societies
- 15:28in different parts of the world and I always feel wherever I
- 15:30travel and I come back to London and I said not to belittle any
- 15:35community, but when I came back to London, I was telling my
- 15:37family I was like Hamdullah, we were raised in London.
- 15:40Because I feel like we have a higher standard when it comes to
- 15:43like modesty and social hijab and things like this.
- 15:45But in particular, seeing what's happening in Azerbaijan is, is
- 15:50heartbreaking because I always look at the stories and I, and I
- 15:53recall and remember I have daughters, I have sisters, I
- 15:57have a wife and all of these things when it comes to hijab,
- 16:00it's like it's part of our DNA. So when they are affected, when
- 16:05their governments are trying to crack down on them wearing it in
- 16:08certain places, be it in, I don't know, in the banks, in the
- 16:11courtrooms, at school, educational settings, in the
- 16:14workplace, it hurts because I, I, I always feel like, what if
- 16:19that's like my sister and I see them as my sisters.
- 16:21What, like when I see those clips, they're crying, they're
- 16:24upset, and they're being denied education just because they want
- 16:27to be obedient to our last panel.
- 16:28What Allah ultimately was it. People would wish they would
- 16:32pray. They are raised in societies
- 16:35where there is a hijab ban, so they have an excuse not to wear
- 16:37it. But you see little children,
- 16:40little girls going to school and they want to wear it and they
- 16:43refuse to enter. Without it, they can just take
- 16:45off simply and walk in. We see it happening in Austria,
- 16:48we see it happening in France, but no, in Azerbaijan.
- 16:51You have little girls at the ages of my daughters, by the
- 16:53way, refusing to remove the hijab.
- 16:57That makes me so proud, proud of them, proud of them.
- 17:01And it gives me hope that there is this love for hijab still
- 17:06alive today when we look at society and the whole world's
- 17:09attacking our sisters. Take it off so you can, you
- 17:12know, be empowered and achieve and build a career for yourself.
- 17:16No, they are the biggest examples that education does not
- 17:19limit limit you with or without the hijab.
- 17:22On the contrary as well. The irony is, is that they they
- 17:24argue that hijab is a barrier to progressing educationally.
- 17:29If you just look at hijab in and of itself, the concept of hijab,
- 17:32forget the physical yeah, let's go.
- 17:34Hijab in and of itself is 1's protection over themselves.
- 17:37And that means everything, their mind, their body and their soul.
- 17:40So to not corrupt your mind means to fill it with good and
- 17:43to absolve it of anything which is damaging or harmful or
- 17:47whatever. And that includes educationally
- 17:48for our young sisters who wear hijab, they themselves.
- 17:52And you've seen so many of these videos, 11 amazing sister.
- 17:55I don't know, you must have seen that video, She says.
- 17:57Have I ever brought dishonor to the school?
- 17:59Yeah, I ever brought shame to the school, I think.
- 18:00I showed this. Is I've got straight A's, have I
- 18:02ever done anything wrong? She said that by me wearing my
- 18:06hijab, have I not been able to perform and bring bring honour
- 18:10to to this institution. And the fact that this is even a
- 18:14topic of discussions is is crazy.
- 18:17I can't understand it. And these are people who will
- 18:21still say we're Muslim. We just don't want but they're
- 18:24secular Muslims, which is toxic and that's a cancer.
- 18:27Unfortunately, commandment of Allah's panel to Allah is wajib.
- 18:31You know, whether we practice, whether we don't, that's, you
- 18:33know, let them figure that out themselves, as long as you don't
- 18:36bar someone or stop someone else from being.
- 18:38You're also crazy. We post, not us.
- 18:40Someone posted a video from the aftermath panel in Toronto where
- 18:44where Zahra Ali was saying never tell a sister, just take off
- 18:49your hijab if you're not wearing it properly.
- 18:52And the the response is that that video got where it was
- 18:56Muslim sisters attacking her for saying that.
- 18:59It's like I don't want to wear my hijab.
- 19:00Don't don't tell me whether don't advise me on wearing it or
- 19:03not. So Muslim sisters.
- 19:05Yes, and the the the comments are filled with it as well.
- 19:08Ajit. There were you get.
- 19:10You get like there were. There were ladies who were
- 19:12commenting basically saying I quote.
- 19:15There was someone who I remember commenting a piece of cloth
- 19:18doesn't bring me closer or further from the religion.
- 19:20And of course there was then a lot of back and forth and
- 19:24dispute and whatnot. Ultimately, I feel like you know
- 19:26who I asked, I can't remember who it was.
- 19:30I asked someone once. I was like, how do I teach hijab
- 19:32to my daughter when she gets to that age or even before that?
- 19:35How did you start introducing this and his response to me, I
- 19:38think it was a scholar. He said to me it was a scholar.
- 19:41I remember he said to me, don't talk about the veil from young
- 19:46talk about modesty, the concept of modesty, protecting oneself,
- 19:49having and or do you say shut up, like having shame of yours
- 19:54over here, higher, higher. And as a man, you have clear.
- 19:58So like these kind of things are things which I think
- 20:01symbolically people don't understand that the hedgehab
- 20:02represents this. They've been taught about the
- 20:04headscarf, but not about what's the reason or the symbolism of
- 20:07that headscarf. So maybe we need to have.
- 20:10You know what this whole thing exposes, by the way?
- 20:12The hypocrisy of those who share woman life, freedom.
- 20:17Yeah, 100%, yeah. And if you look around the
- 20:19world, they talk about and they always mention Iran and
- 20:22Afghanistan and my body, my body, my choice.
- 20:26This is exactly the reaction that the sisters who get
- 20:29attacked for wearing hijab are saying.
- 20:31They're like, we we stood by with like everyone who gets
- 20:34oppressed. Yeah, right.
- 20:35And now all of these guys who pretend were pretending to do
- 20:38activism. Yeah, now they're.
- 20:40This is my point. It exposes that it was never
- 20:43about freedom. Never.
- 20:44It was never about, you know, giving the women the choices.
- 20:47Like they're fighting for the calling out the to wear or not
- 20:50to wear the hijab, right? Because now we're seeing this
- 20:52playing out and they're not talking, they're not protesting,
- 20:56they're not going in the street. I don't know if you've seen half
- 20:58of them are stupid. They go naked in the street and
- 21:01start protesting in Paris and as well as Belgium and Germany, all
- 21:03these places. But what I want to know from
- 21:06these people, why do you want? Why do you want our Muslim
- 21:10sisters to be undressed? That's what I don't understand.
- 21:12It's. Like it's a culmination, it
- 21:13starts with different things. Hijab.
- 21:17Hijab on the head? Hijab is the game then.
- 21:19It starts with, you know, change the way you dress and change the
- 21:23atmospheres you sit. It's like, what?
- 21:25What do you want from our sisters?
- 21:26You. Know it's it's a collective
- 21:27issue and it's a combination of multiple things.
- 21:30One is the fact that pop culture and the civilization generally
- 21:34that we are in idolizes and celebrates women who dress less
- 21:39or expose themselves more and puts them on a pedestal.
- 21:43So that could be celebrities, singers, actresses, anything
- 21:46like that. And then beyond that as well,
- 21:49there's a narrative which is pushed by like bigots basically
- 21:52to say, well, if you see someone dressed like this, then they
- 21:55must be backwards. The former Prime Minister of the
- 21:58UK, Boris Johnson, he once came on TV and he said Muslim women
- 22:03are comparable to post boxes and bank robbers because of niqab.
- 22:08And that was at a time where it was.
- 22:10He's stocking the fire of Islamophobia in the UK.
- 22:12This is in the UK. We're now talking about an
- 22:14Islamic country which is majority Shia.
- 22:16That's the. You have more Azerbaijanis
- 22:18ethnically in Iran than in Azerbaijan and you have Turkey.
- 22:22You know, Turkey and Azerbaijan, they say it's as if they're one
- 22:25state in two nations. Yeah, right.
- 22:28Or one nation in two states or whatever.
- 22:30They have this notion Turkey and Azerbaijan are like sibling
- 22:33countries, right? And Turkey in themselves are
- 22:35like, you know, confused by this.
- 22:38I mean, it's a huge issue. I think the only thing I would
- 22:41say from my end and to kind of wrap up from my end for our
- 22:44sisters who wear the hijab, you are the pride of our community.
- 22:47You are the backbone of our families and our societies.
- 22:50And never give up, never stop. If anything, use it as a
- 22:53springboard to prove you're worth more because you are worth
- 22:57more than anyone else or any everything else.
- 22:59Those sisters who are on the hijab journey, may Allah reward
- 23:03you, guide you and always protect you.
- 23:06And those sisters who are already observing full time
- 23:08hijab, may Allah make it easy for you and allow you to
- 23:10continue on that path. However, don't stop.
- 23:13Go out, get your education, proof to people who think you
- 23:16can't get a job in a position where people think she can't
- 23:19achieve that, you know, while she's wearing hijab.
- 23:22Yeah, Go and do something which shows the world that Muslim
- 23:26women and particularly Shia women can bring pride to not
- 23:30just our community, not just the Omar, but to society at large.
- 23:35Because ultimately we are the followers of Minimal Minim Ali
- 23:38Salatu Salaam. If we are the followers of a
- 23:40minimal Minim and the followers of say, the Fatima Zahra Ali
- 23:43Salatu Salaam, then we will do our absolute best to perform the
- 23:47highest in every single category in every industry of society and
- 23:51show people that we are people who take performance seriously.
- 23:56You know, and Dunya, and of course, ultimately for Akala,
- 23:58this is what we stand for. So don't ever let it drag you
- 24:01down. And of course, if you've got
- 24:02ideas in the comments for all of us, how we can support the
- 24:06cause, support our sisters, share it with each other because
- 24:10this needs to be done at the bare minimum.
- 24:11We should be sharing the protest posts, you know, we should be
- 24:14sharing stuff on our social media.
- 24:17This is the bare minimum on Instagram stories, on TikTok,
- 24:21you know, with our friends and families, you know, very.
- 24:23Similar cases what we're seeing in halach as well, so I don't
- 24:26know too much about it. So hardly smiling the.
- 24:29Jafferi Law. The Jafferi.
- 24:30Law is is women are fighting for their rights to their daughters.
- 24:34Yeah, crazy. I think this needs a maybe
- 24:37someone who've a bit more experienced in the topic to
- 24:39discuss this, but it just shows that women in in our home
- 24:43countries are still fighting for their rights.
- 24:46But, you know, just, I think just two minutes on this Jafari
- 24:49law thing. I think for Iraqis being living
- 24:54in Iraq, majority Shia country, the fact that you can apply the
- 24:59Jafari law in your marriages and child custody and women's
- 25:04rights, there's no problem with that.
- 25:08If you live in Iraq and you say you are Shia and you have a
- 25:11problem with the Jafari law, you got a problem with God.
- 25:14Yeah, honestly, how can you be Shia?
- 25:18And now you know, we lived how many years under Saddam and
- 25:21Malone? Yeah.
- 25:22It doesn't make sense. And we were like, we want our
- 25:24rights, you know, we're a Shia majority country want to want to
- 25:28be, you know, ruled by the Quran and the Sunnah of Rasoolallah
- 25:32and the teachings of the albeit and I have a problem.
- 25:35Why why they have a problem now, but but I just two or three
- 25:37things. The majority of the arguments
- 25:40happening is based on marriage, which is, for example, women,
- 25:44they feel like when they get divorced on the Jaffrey Law,
- 25:48they don't get rights like they do in the UK, for example.
- 25:51So what are they comparing it to?
- 25:53They're comparing it to secular societies and societies that
- 25:56have no religion in essence. But the Jaffrey law protects the
- 25:59religion. It's within the Sharia, like
- 26:03there's no way coming out of it. And by the way, from what I
- 26:05understand it, when you do get married in Iraq, you can choose
- 26:09whether you want it done on the Jaffrey law or on the Hanifi law
- 26:14or on the Democratic Republic of Araq law.
- 26:18So you can choose by the way, but once you commence that
- 26:22marriage on Jafari law, anything that happens after it is based
- 26:26on Jafari law, the child custody, the divorce, the rights
- 26:30for the husband and the wife, etcetera.
- 26:31So the people have a problem today with Jafari law and Harak
- 26:34A Shia then I Shia understand. But if you are a Shia and you
- 26:37got a problem, whether you got a problem?
- 26:38With God, ultimately the, the, the, the underlying thing here
- 26:40is education. So whether it's education,
- 26:42Azerbaijan or in Iraq or in the UK or anywhere else, without
- 26:46education, society lacks oxygen. You know, people have no
- 26:49literacy. You are the oxygen.
- 26:51Have you ever said you, you are? Until Nefes won't tell Howa.
- 26:55Until Nefes say. Mujtaba what?
- 26:57The rest of the words until shames went to boa.
- 27:00Sorry, I've heard. It it's beautiful.
- 27:02Yeah, Yeah, man. But education is everything.
- 27:06Education is everything. And I think it's.
- 27:08And it goes right to what can. Say cyclic, wouldn't it?
- 27:12But obviously the elements and this is something we should all
- 27:16inshallah work on. All right, guys, I think we
- 27:18should call it a day. Yeah.
- 27:20It's been a good intro, you know?
- 27:21Idea just because I'm one. It's a fame in episode.
- 27:23That's a fame in 28. Minutes 39 because.
- 27:26It's a it's a teaser to what's going to be upcoming in Season
- 27:286. I think there's a lot.
- 27:30There's a lot, a lot of ideas. Mashallah, Ahmed.
- 27:32Talks a lot so. I'm the guy who's trying to end
- 27:35you. Go you, carry on in it.
- 27:37Start talking about you. Know we were in the Toronto
- 27:40podcast and he mentioned something about talking a lot.
- 27:48You talk a lot. No, no, no.
- 27:49I said something. I said something about talking a
- 27:53lot or something. And I looked at the other way
- 27:54because I knew he's thinking, oh, it's so funny, man.
- 28:00Your wife that looks at you like Ahmed looks at Ali.
- 28:02Yeah, straight get say what's about wife I need?
- 28:06To print on a T-shirt. All right, guys, inshallah we'll
