- 0:19Speaker 1: people say saving more is their financial goal in twenty
- 0:22Speaker 1: twenty six. So keep listening to find out more about
- 0:26Speaker 1: a free finder tool that's going to help you do
- 0:29Speaker 1: just that.
- 0:30Speaker 2: All right, let's get into the episode.
- 0:37Speaker 1: Hey chicks, I'm sal and I'm out And this is

- 0:50Speaker 1: Stu Gorges Gear just here to talk some shit, but.
- 0:54Speaker 3: Today very on brand.
- 0:56Speaker 1: We really are talking the life lessons to help make
- 0:58Speaker 1: you rich in life. We are talking the twenty twenty
- 1:01Speaker 1: six money resets are anti your rich girl era. Let's
- 1:03Speaker 1: go rebrand till rich girls yep, twenty twenty six year
- 1:07Speaker 1: of the rich girl.
- 1:08Speaker 3: Yeah and the horse girl, rich horse girl.
- 1:12Speaker 2: Yeah. We've got to be rich to be a horse girl.
- 1:14Speaker 3: Yeah, that's so true.
- 1:15Speaker 1: So like Kendle Candle, Yeah, true, we're going to be
- 1:20Speaker 1: a Kendle and bellahadid by the end of the Oh
- 1:22Speaker 1: my God, to be the dream my name is Bella
- 1:29Speaker 1: had indeed. Yeah. So we're going to run through five
- 1:31Speaker 1: steps on how to anti your rich girl era in
- 1:34Speaker 1: twenty twenty six. But before we do that, we like
- 1:37Speaker 1: to start with our obsessions of the week.
- 1:39Speaker 3: So would you like to kick us off?
- 1:41Speaker 4: I would love to kick ourselfs out because my obsession
- 1:44Speaker 4: of the week is the fact that the color of
- 1:46Speaker 4: the year, the fashion color of the year for twenty
- 1:49Speaker 4: twenty six.
- 1:50Speaker 2: Is animal prints.
- 1:52Speaker 3: Ooh.
- 1:52Speaker 1: So this comes from style analytics who pulls in all
- 1:56Speaker 1: the data regarding fashion trends and then shares them and
- 1:59Speaker 1: animal print is up.
- 2:01Speaker 2: And I for one very happy about that.
- 2:04Speaker 1: Yeah, while you're wearing a pair of snake print jeans,
- 2:07Speaker 1: I know.
- 2:07Speaker 2: I love animal print.
- 2:09Speaker 1: I think animal print is a very easy fashion win,
- 2:13Speaker 1: Like it adds personality to an outfit with very little effort,
- 2:18Speaker 1: and I just think it is chef's kiss. However, there
- 2:21Speaker 1: are certain animal prints that are trending in twenty twenty six,
- 2:23Speaker 1: which is what I want to run through. So, tiger
- 2:26Speaker 1: print has a nineteen percent sellout rate and is up
- 2:31Speaker 1: eleven percent from last year. Cheetah is up three percent
- 2:37Speaker 1: from last year and also has a twenty four percent
- 2:40Speaker 1: sellout rate, Snake print is up three percent from last
- 2:46Speaker 1: year and has a twenty seven percent sellout rate, and
- 2:49Speaker 1: then zebra print is up four percent from last year
- 2:52Speaker 1: and has a thirty two percent sell out rate. Interesting,
- 2:56Speaker 1: So I'm kean, I'm ready. I love it on a
- 3:00Speaker 1: There isn't really an animal print that I don't like.
- 3:03Speaker 3: Cow, No, because I like a cow hired.
- 3:05Speaker 1: I think it depends on the material with cowprint, maybe giraffe.
- 3:10Speaker 2: Yeah, giraffe, you've lost me.
- 3:12Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't think I've ever really doubled with. But yeah,
- 3:16Speaker 1: I love that. Obviously, animal prints they kind of go
- 3:19Speaker 1: in and out of fashion, But I do think that
- 3:21Speaker 1: if you're an animal print.
- 3:22Speaker 3: Girly, it's a lifelong life relationshrend.
- 3:25Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 3:26Speaker 4: To me, animal print is not a micro trend because
- 3:29Speaker 4: I wear it regardless of whether.
- 3:31Speaker 2: Or not it's in or out.
- 3:32Speaker 1: Okay, my obsession, tell me, Okay, tell me your obsession.
- 3:36Speaker 1: My obsession of the week is part two from last week,
- 3:40Speaker 1: which was mister Harold's Styles coming back and announcing his
- 3:45Speaker 1: brand new album because he is.
- 3:47Speaker 3: Just absolutely feeding the children.
- 3:49Speaker 1: Yeah, he's coming in to save twenty twenty six. People like, really,
- 3:52Speaker 1: one month in and it's gone.
- 3:53Speaker 2: I'm like, yeah, yeah, need saving.
- 3:55Speaker 1: Honestly, literally from twelve oh one, we probably need an
- 3:58Speaker 1: Arry to sweep in and thank far because on top
- 4:01Speaker 1: of the album announcement this week, he's also announced that
- 4:05Speaker 1: he's going to be doing a worldwide tour, including stops
- 4:08Speaker 1: in Sydney and in Melbourne at the end of this year.
- 4:10Speaker 3: For the Together Together tour.
- 4:12Speaker 1: So that's what the Easter eggs that we were talking
- 4:14Speaker 1: about last week related to.
- 4:16Speaker 3: So very exciting. But also he's dropped his first single
- 4:19Speaker 3: from the album.
- 4:20Speaker 1: Today and we haven't listened to it yet because we
- 4:23Speaker 1: wanted to save our first reaction for the episode How
- 4:27Speaker 1: Long First Taste, like five minutes.
- 4:29Speaker 2: Five minutes. The song's five minutes. Yea, that is too long.
- 4:32Speaker 1: The song is five minutes, so I'm very too long
- 4:35Speaker 1: interested to see because most pop songs are.
- 4:38Speaker 3: Like three and a half.
- 4:39Speaker 2: Oh my god.
- 4:41Speaker 1: So this is our first reaction to Afasha by Harry Styles. Okay, okay,
- 4:50Speaker 1: and we're thirty four seconds in with no lyrics.
- 4:53Speaker 2: This is very euro it is.
- 4:57Speaker 4: That's where I like this, right because yeah, didn't you
- 5:02Speaker 4: say you thought the single was going to be called
- 5:04Speaker 4: we Belong Together?
- 5:05Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, it.
- 5:07Speaker 3: Was going to be called we Belong Together.
- 5:08Speaker 4: So you're right, so it was kind of Yeah, I
- 5:11Speaker 4: think that's a win.
- 5:12Speaker 2: I think we dubbed that a win.
- 5:14Speaker 3: Yeah, what do you think I like it? I think yeah.
- 5:18Speaker 1: It definitely takes a while to get into, which would
- 5:21Speaker 1: be by design, but I do like the chorus, and
- 5:24Speaker 1: I do think that it's one that.
- 5:27Speaker 3: I'll enjoy the more that I listen to it.
- 5:29Speaker 2: Yeah, I think so too. I do always.
- 5:32Speaker 1: I prefer instruments, yeah, to be like more than like
- 5:37Speaker 1: synthetic music.
- 5:39Speaker 2: Is that how you would call it? I don't really know.
- 5:40Speaker 3: Yeah, than anything was sort of like an election.
- 5:42Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I don't know if that is that disco. No,
- 5:48Speaker 2: I was expecting more disco.
- 5:49Speaker 1: Yeah, but I don't dislike it, but I'm excited to
- 5:52Speaker 1: hear the rest of the album. I wouldn't necessarily say
- 5:54Speaker 1: that's like my taste in music, but I like Harry Styles,
- 5:58Speaker 1: so yeah, yeah, I like it more in the chorus,
- 6:01Speaker 1: you can hear more of his vote voice.
- 6:04Speaker 3: So yeah, very interested to hear more. And I'll see
- 6:07Speaker 3: chicks in the ticket war.
- 6:08Speaker 1: Right.
- 6:09Speaker 2: All right, shall we get into our five STIPs?
- 6:12Speaker 1: So step number one two, enter your rich girl era
- 6:14Speaker 1: in twenty twenty six. Identify your money toxic trait.
- 6:18Speaker 2: I love this.
- 6:19Speaker 1: Yeah, we've spoken about money personalities on the show before,
- 6:23Speaker 1: and that is kind of like a well discussed concept,
- 6:27Speaker 1: but we wanted to talk about money toxic traits, not
- 6:29Speaker 1: necessarily as an excuse to like read yourself a filth
- 6:32Speaker 1: or even to box yourself in. But I do think
- 6:35Speaker 1: that it's good to know what your toxic money trait is,
- 6:38Speaker 1: to recognize what your flaws are when it comes to money,
- 6:41Speaker 1: and I guess kind of embrace it a little bit
- 6:43Speaker 1: because a lot of budgeting tips and money tips will
- 6:47Speaker 1: work differently depending on your money personality. You know, like
- 6:50Speaker 1: not every single strategy is going to work for everyone
- 6:53Speaker 1: because of the different relationship that you do have with money.
- 6:57Speaker 1: So we're going to run through the five money a
- 7:00Speaker 1: Tour personalities.
- 7:02Speaker 3: Okay, the emotional spender.
- 7:07Speaker 1: Buck, Yep, this person is like had a bad day,
- 7:11Speaker 1: let's go shopping. This person like, had a good day,
- 7:14Speaker 1: let's go shopping. Yeah, with retail therapy. As their emotion spike,
- 7:18Speaker 1: so do their spending. Ah fuck yeah, okay, fuck what
- 7:24Speaker 1: if I'm all of them? I definitely think that I
- 7:28Speaker 1: sit in a couple of these categories, which it seems
- 7:30Speaker 1: like my sun moon and rising fully Yeah your money
- 7:34Speaker 1: star sign, let's go louck in. The silent stresser. This
- 7:40Speaker 1: person carries their money anxiety silently, so they probably have
- 7:43Speaker 1: a lot of shame associated with their relationship with money,
- 7:47Speaker 1: and if they're having money problems, they're going to keep
- 7:49Speaker 1: it to themselves and not share it with the people
- 7:52Speaker 1: around them, and they don't feel comfortable talking about money with.
- 7:55Speaker 3: The people in their life.
- 7:56Speaker 2: Okay.
- 7:57Speaker 1: The money avoider. This is the person that doesn't check
- 8:01Speaker 1: their bank account. They probably don't even know their online
- 8:04Speaker 1: banking logins.
- 8:05Speaker 3: They may not know who their super is with, and
- 8:08Speaker 3: they kind of.
- 8:09Speaker 1: Have an ignorance's bliss approach when it comes to money.
- 8:12Speaker 3: The lifestyle creeper.
- 8:15Speaker 2: As creeper the creeper.
- 8:18Speaker 1: As their income increases, so does their expenses. So this
- 8:22Speaker 1: is the person that always has the latest iPhone. They're
- 8:24Speaker 1: always on top of the latest trending items, they have
- 8:27Speaker 1: a new holiday always coming up, and it's kind of
- 8:30Speaker 1: the classic case of just because you are earning more
- 8:33Speaker 1: money doesn't necessarily mean that you're saving more money. And
- 8:36Speaker 1: then our last one, the penny pincher. Oh, on surface value,
- 8:41Speaker 1: this might seem like a positive trait, and I do
- 8:44Speaker 1: think that it kind of is, but this is the
- 8:46Speaker 1: person that turns off every PowerPoint every time they leave
- 8:49Speaker 1: the room.
- 8:50Speaker 3: They're chasing you up for that two dollars that you
- 8:52Speaker 3: owe them.
- 8:53Speaker 1: But it also means that they probably don't have that
- 8:56Speaker 1: much room in their budget for anything fun.
- 9:00Speaker 3: Maybe a little bit too strict.
- 9:02Speaker 4: Yeah, and I do reckon there's probably a lot of
- 9:04Speaker 4: anxiety around money within that on the opposite end, exactly,
- 9:08Speaker 4: because like you can have money dysmorphia can be both
- 9:12Speaker 4: ends where you think you have more money than you
- 9:14Speaker 4: do and where you think you have less money than
- 9:16Speaker 4: you do and you're very anxious about it, exactly.
- 9:19Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 9:20Speaker 1: But yeah, as I was saying at the top, I
- 9:21Speaker 1: think it's important to recognize what your money toxic traits
- 9:25Speaker 1: are so that you know which steps to take first,
- 9:29Speaker 1: because it can be overwhelming to be like, Okay, it's
- 9:32Speaker 1: the beginning of a new year, I'm going to do
- 9:33Speaker 1: a complete overhaul of my finances.
- 9:35Speaker 3: Where do I begin?
- 9:37Speaker 1: But say, for example, if you feel like you're the
- 9:40Speaker 1: money avoider, you could start by introducing in your routine
- 9:44Speaker 1: to have like a money Monday where every Monday night
- 9:47Speaker 1: you go through your transactions and see where your money
- 9:51Speaker 1: is coming and going and identify I guess those flaws, yeause,
- 9:55Speaker 1: I don't think none of these things are set in
- 9:57Speaker 1: stone either.
- 9:57Speaker 4: Well, I was going to say, this makes me think
- 10:00Speaker 4: about I've been reading the book The Psychology of Money,
- 10:03Speaker 4: and within the first chapter he discusses how money shouldn't
- 10:06Speaker 4: be looked at as math or science, but actually like
- 10:11Speaker 4: psychology and emotion, because money and emotion is so tightly linked,
- 10:16Speaker 4: and that no one's ever right when talking about money
- 10:20Speaker 4: because everyone has different experiences. The way that you have
- 10:24Speaker 4: experienced money growing up and as an adult could be
- 10:28Speaker 4: completely different to the way that I've experienced money. And
- 10:31Speaker 4: he talks about, you know, those who would have been
- 10:34Speaker 4: in the stock market crash where everyone you know lost everything,
- 10:39Speaker 4: they would probably have a different outlook on investing versus
- 10:43Speaker 4: someone who has a really strong portfolio now and like
- 10:46Speaker 4: really endorses investing and really gets into it, and like
- 10:50Speaker 4: they would have two different opinions.
- 10:52Speaker 2: Or someone who.
- 10:53Speaker 4: You know, grew up with money and was given an
- 10:55Speaker 4: allowance from their parents would have a different outlook on
- 10:58Speaker 4: money than someone who's been sucking a job on minimum
- 11:01Speaker 4: wage since they were fourteen and nine months, you know.
- 11:05Speaker 2: So it's really really interesting and I think that's.
- 11:07Speaker 4: Good because it takes out the facts that we think
- 11:11Speaker 4: money is. Like it's like money, there's no right answer
- 11:15Speaker 4: to setting up your money, Like it's very personal and
- 11:19Speaker 4: it's very personal to you. So when you know what
- 11:21Speaker 4: your personality is and you know what your toxic traits are,
- 11:25Speaker 4: you can look at the habit and the things you
- 11:27Speaker 4: want to do, not as a stop doing this, but
- 11:30Speaker 4: start doing this. Yeah, yeah, I like that. Which one
- 11:34Speaker 4: do you think is your toxic trade?
- 11:37Speaker 2: Probably?
- 11:39Speaker 3: I think in the past it would have been the
- 11:42Speaker 3: money of void?
- 11:43Speaker 2: Hmm, That's what I was gonna say, I think, I
- 11:45Speaker 2: yeah have been.
- 11:46Speaker 1: I would say I think I've got two feet in,
- 11:49Speaker 1: one foot in emotional.
- 11:50Speaker 2: Spender, and one foot in the money of.
- 11:53Speaker 4: Void, yep, Because it was like I'd be like, where
- 11:56Speaker 4: is why do I what did I spend my money on,
- 11:58Speaker 4: or like subscriptions that I didn't know coming out, or
- 12:00Speaker 4: when it's like Apple subscription minus two ninety nine minus
- 12:05Speaker 4: fifteen ninety nine, I'm.
- 12:06Speaker 3: Like, what is this for?
- 12:08Speaker 4: Step number two is to reduce your micro purchases.
- 12:12Speaker 2: I lack this one. I like this one a lot.
- 12:15Speaker 2: I like it.
- 12:15Speaker 3: Theusse eighty six.
- 12:16Speaker 4: Percent of Australians don't know how much money they're spending
- 12:20Speaker 4: every month.
- 12:22Speaker 2: How crazy is that?
- 12:24Speaker 3: It's wild? But I believe it.
- 12:25Speaker 2: I believe it because do you know what guilty as charged?
- 12:30Speaker 2: Like before this year, I couldn't tell you.
- 12:34Speaker 1: I just know that I was spending money income and
- 12:36Speaker 1: saving money, yeah you know, Like that was really it.
- 12:39Speaker 2: And I wasn't tracking where my money was going.
- 12:41Speaker 4: I didn't know how much I was spending on like
- 12:43Speaker 4: uber eats or anything like that. And so this one
- 12:47Speaker 4: really is such an important step because when you look
- 12:50Speaker 4: into how much you spend on the little things.
- 12:52Speaker 2: It really adds up.
- 12:54Speaker 1: Thirty dollars a day adds up to over ten thousand
- 12:56Speaker 1: dollars a year, which if you think about even just
- 12:59Speaker 1: the standard workday of buying a morning coffee and buying lunch,
- 13:04Speaker 1: you're getting around to thirty dollars a day. Yeah, right,
- 13:07Speaker 1: and that's ten thousand dollars a yeah, think of what
- 13:09Speaker 1: you could spend ten thousand dollars on. Most Australians don't
- 13:12Speaker 1: even have one thousand dollars saved.
- 13:14Speaker 3: Yeah exactly.
- 13:16Speaker 4: So looking at your micro spending as what could be
- 13:21Speaker 4: the leak or the leach of your emergency funds, your
- 13:25Speaker 4: fund funds. A lot of us feel, you know, I
- 13:27Speaker 4: can't afford to go on a holiday, But what if
- 13:29Speaker 4: we reduce those micro spends and micro.
- 13:32Speaker 2: Purchases so you could, so you could.
- 13:34Speaker 4: Do those fun things you want to do, So you
- 13:35Speaker 4: could get that dice in air up that you've been
- 13:37Speaker 4: wanting for two years, so you could adopt a cat,
- 13:40Speaker 4: or a second.
- 13:41Speaker 2: One or a third one. Fuck you're like, if you
- 13:47Speaker 2: said yes today, I would have been going to the shelter.
- 13:49Speaker 3: Oh my god, I would kill me.
- 13:51Speaker 2: Oh when I really miss my cats. Okay. Yeah. You
- 13:55Speaker 2: may think that micro spending is harmless because they're just
- 13:58Speaker 2: small things.
- 13:59Speaker 4: But six dollar coffee, a twelve dollar app, you know,
- 14:03Speaker 4: a twenty eight dollar top on sale, a nine dollar
- 14:06Speaker 4: delivery fee with a three dollar service fee and then
- 14:10Speaker 4: another fee for priority or whatever like, individually, none of
- 14:14Speaker 4: these matter, but collectively they're like a money leak. And
- 14:19Speaker 4: I'm not saying that we need to scrutinize and stress
- 14:25Speaker 4: over one dollar here and there, right, but it's more
- 14:28Speaker 4: about the oh yeah tap, oh yeah tap. And it's
- 14:32Speaker 4: the kind of what we were saying, like the money
- 14:34Speaker 4: of order of not knowing and not thinking that those
- 14:36Speaker 4: small amounts matter, because they do and.
- 14:38Speaker 2: They add up. So the fix for this is a
- 14:40Speaker 2: couple things. Right.
- 14:42Speaker 4: It can look like having one account just for funzies, right,
- 14:47Speaker 4: and that's your account that you don't have to stress.
- 14:48Speaker 2: You can go tap a tap a taper, yeah, that
- 14:51Speaker 2: you can get a morning coffee.
- 14:52Speaker 4: This isn't This is not a male millennial podcast.
- 14:56Speaker 2: That we're like, your AVO toast is why you don't
- 14:58Speaker 2: have a house.
- 14:59Speaker 1: Get your fucking have it, you know, Like that's fine,
- 15:02Speaker 1: have your one account for fundsies. The other thing you
- 15:04Speaker 1: can do is have your one day for spending, so
- 15:07Speaker 1: you can have like a Sunday where you go, Okay,
- 15:09Speaker 1: I sat on those purchases. I still want that top
- 15:12Speaker 1: that's on sale.
- 15:13Speaker 2: I've thought of it.
- 15:14Speaker 4: That's your one day and you get to spend, right, yep.
- 15:18Speaker 4: Then also think about using cash. It's scientifically proven that
- 15:24Speaker 4: you spend less money when you use cash because it
- 15:27Speaker 4: becomes a physical thing. You become physically aware of your money,
- 15:31Speaker 4: how much you have, how much you spend, and how
- 15:33Speaker 4: much you have left, and you're really handing it over.
- 15:37Speaker 4: You're like, that's my money and it's now yours. And
- 15:41Speaker 4: when I do this, I think I said this as
- 15:43Speaker 4: a tip like two years ago, like ages ago.
- 15:47Speaker 2: It's it honestly makes the biggest difference.
- 15:50Speaker 1: I saw a study that was conducted by the University
- 15:52Speaker 1: of Melbourne and they were talking about exactly that and
- 15:55Speaker 1: something called.
- 15:56Speaker 3: The cashless effect.
- 15:58Speaker 1: Yeah, and they were saying that when paying with cash,
- 16:02Speaker 1: we have to physically count out the notes and coins
- 16:05Speaker 1: and hand them over, and humans seek to avoid losses,
- 16:08Speaker 1: and paying by cash sees us physically lose something. So
- 16:13Speaker 1: there is neurological evidence that suggests that the pain of
- 16:16Speaker 1: payin isn't just a metaphor, it is something psychologically that
- 16:20Speaker 1: we experience.
- 16:22Speaker 3: So we do feel a little.
- 16:23Speaker 1: Pang of pain when we are using physical cash. Yeah,
- 16:28Speaker 1: And so that will stop us from spending too much
- 16:32Speaker 1: because you actually do feel it.
- 16:34Speaker 2: Yeah, Like imagine being at a n Ailsalondon handing over
- 16:37Speaker 2: one hundred and twenty dollars cash. Yeah, for one manicure.
- 16:39Speaker 2: That's gonna last two weeks.
- 16:41Speaker 3: Yeah, exactly.
- 16:42Speaker 2: Don't like that.
- 16:43Speaker 3: No, I don't like that, No, I don't. But also
- 16:45Speaker 3: I do think, like I've heard of people who.
- 16:48Speaker 1: Only use cash and so at the beginning of every
- 16:51Speaker 1: week they withdraw a certain amount, and that also gives
- 16:54Speaker 1: you a finite budget, yeah, to work with.
- 16:56Speaker 4: And it means that like online spending of like little
- 16:59Speaker 4: Amazon things or.
- 17:00Speaker 2: They're a sale that's a flash sale for three.
- 17:02Speaker 4: Hours only because it's all stock that we can't get
- 17:04Speaker 4: rid of like that, you can't get pulled into that stuff.
- 17:08Speaker 4: So if you really struggle with like impulse spending, try
- 17:14Speaker 4: to go cash cash only.
- 17:17Speaker 3: Cash is king.
- 17:18Speaker 4: Cash step number three, and I would say this is
- 17:23Speaker 4: the most important step in the process budget. I know,
- 17:28Speaker 4: I know, I know we've all heard the word a
- 17:31Speaker 4: million times before.
- 17:33Speaker 1: I know that we're like, I know, I have to
- 17:35Speaker 1: do it. I just don't know where to start the
- 17:37Speaker 1: be word. So I'm so excited to get into this
- 17:40Speaker 1: because this part of the episode is sponsored by Finder
- 17:44Speaker 1: and they've actually created a free tool that's made budgeting easier.
- 17:48Speaker 2: We were looking at this tool.
- 17:49Speaker 4: And we went to them and we were like, we've
- 17:51Speaker 4: got to talk about this. Yeah, this is amazing.
- 17:53Speaker 1: And you may have seen on our TikTok we posted
- 17:56Speaker 1: a video being like, who's got the rex?
- 17:58Speaker 2: Who needs a budget? Who wants a budge?
- 18:00Speaker 3: What are we using?
- 18:01Speaker 2: What's the vibe?
- 18:01Speaker 1: And honestly, the amount of comments and views of people
- 18:06Speaker 1: needing a budget tracker or just a place to start
- 18:10Speaker 1: and figure out what their budget is. I think there
- 18:12Speaker 1: was over two hundred and eighty thousand views on that,
- 18:14Speaker 1: So it's definitely a thing, and it's really important because
- 18:18Speaker 1: so many people don't have a budget because I don't
- 18:22Speaker 1: know how to do it. And that's so fair enough.
- 18:24Speaker 4: Before this year, I did not track my budget and
- 18:28Speaker 4: my spending. However, every Sunday I now sit down and
- 18:31Speaker 4: I'm doing it, and let me tell you, I'm fucking addicted.
- 18:35Speaker 2: I love it.
- 18:36Speaker 4: I love doing my budget because do you know what
- 18:39Speaker 4: doing a budget makes you realize is how much money
- 18:43Speaker 4: you actually can spend. And I was sitting there doing
- 18:46Speaker 4: this budget, going what have I been spending.
- 18:50Speaker 2: My money on?
- 18:51Speaker 1: Like?
- 18:51Speaker 2: Where is it gone? And that's the thing.
- 18:53Speaker 4: If you were sitting there going where is all my
- 18:56Speaker 4: money going? What am I spending my money on? You
- 18:58Speaker 4: need to sit down into your budget.
- 19:00Speaker 1: I think that's a misconception that people have around their budget,
- 19:02Speaker 1: is that they're going to sit down and they're going
- 19:04Speaker 1: to be faced with the facts and they're going to
- 19:06Speaker 1: be full of shame and guilt about where their money
- 19:08Speaker 1: is going, and then the final result is going to
- 19:11Speaker 1: be something that's really restrictive. That means that they can't
- 19:14Speaker 1: spend their money on anything fun. But exactly like you're saying,
- 19:18Speaker 1: that's not the case. If anything, it gives you more
- 19:21Speaker 1: of an idea of where those money leaks are, and
- 19:24Speaker 1: you're spending money on shit that you don't even use
- 19:26Speaker 1: or want, and therefore freeze up money for things that
- 19:29Speaker 1: you do actually want to do, all the things that
- 19:31Speaker 1: you value in life, which could be savings or an
- 19:34Speaker 1: emergency fund, or a deposit for a house or a
- 19:36Speaker 1: holiday or your fun fund.
- 19:37Speaker 3: Literally, yeah, it also.
- 19:40Speaker 1: Really changed my spending, Like I really now look at
- 19:45Speaker 1: everything because everything has a budget, everything has a cap
- 19:48Speaker 1: everything has a thing that I'm like, Okay, that's how
- 19:50Speaker 1: much I want to spend on it. That like when
- 19:53Speaker 1: I'm going to go and buy something online, I'm.
- 19:55Speaker 4: Like, that's like, that's like that whole that's like the
- 19:59Speaker 4: whole all months budget on that one thing I really
- 20:02Speaker 4: want that probably not. And I've started like really looking
- 20:07Speaker 4: at investing and it's just so motivating.
- 20:10Speaker 2: It makes me so like I get I get high,
- 20:13Speaker 2: get excited. So here's a hack.
- 20:16Speaker 4: We found a free budgeting tool that helps you spend
- 20:19Speaker 4: less and save more. It's fined as Budget Planner, and
- 20:22Speaker 4: it's literally free.
- 20:24Speaker 2: You don't have to pay for anything.
- 20:26Speaker 4: It's a free budget planner and it does everything for you.
- 20:30Speaker 4: The budget literally breaks down all the categories of what
- 20:33Speaker 4: goes into a budget for you, because I think that's
- 20:35Speaker 4: the hardest part of building a budget is you go, wait,
- 20:37Speaker 4: what do I put in here? And so now that
- 20:39Speaker 4: you've got all the categories, you literally just have to
- 20:42Speaker 4: put the number in.
- 20:43Speaker 2: It's great, you just.
- 20:45Speaker 4: Fill it in down the list and then it generates
- 20:47Speaker 4: your budget for you. And then the budget will also
- 20:50Speaker 4: spit out your surplus, which is.
- 20:52Speaker 2: The money that you can spend on incidentals or like
- 20:54Speaker 2: splurges or treat yourself moments.
- 20:57Speaker 1: I also like it because it has like a little
- 20:59Speaker 1: checklist down the box that teaches you how to do
- 21:01Speaker 1: every step, because if you get to one and be like,
- 21:02Speaker 1: I don't know what that is or I'm not sure
- 21:04Speaker 1: how to calculate that, it literally just tells you how
- 21:06Speaker 1: to do it, or like what you should include within
- 21:09Speaker 1: that category like takeaway food or impulse spending or whatever
- 21:12Speaker 1: it is. Yeah, and also in really easy to understand
- 21:15Speaker 1: language too.
- 21:16Speaker 3: Yeah, which is another.
- 21:17Speaker 1: Thing that I love because sometimes it's not gonna be
- 21:19Speaker 1: really daunting and overwhelming, but they kind of just say.
- 21:22Speaker 3: It how it is exactly.
- 21:24Speaker 4: It's literally just a no brainer and such an easy
- 21:27Speaker 4: tool to use.
- 21:27Speaker 3: And the cherry on top is that it's free.
- 21:30Speaker 1: So many other budget trackers and planners come with a fee,
- 21:33Speaker 1: which I also think is another reason why people don't.
- 21:36Speaker 4: Yeah, h started one hundred percent, So we've left a
- 21:39Speaker 4: link to it in the show notes, but yeah, check
- 21:42Speaker 4: it out.
- 21:42Speaker 1: Step four introduce friction to your spending. So, as we
- 21:48Speaker 1: mentioned when we were talking about like cash list, verst cash,
- 21:51Speaker 1: it is so easy to spend, and living in a
- 21:54Speaker 1: digital world, I think it's part of it that convenience
- 21:57Speaker 1: can seem really great, but really it really is opening
- 22:00Speaker 1: up a lot of money leakages, or just opportunities for
- 22:03Speaker 1: impulse spending. Number one, do a money digital detox, So
- 22:08Speaker 1: remove your digital wallet from your phone, delete paid payment
- 22:12Speaker 1: information that's saved in any of your favorite websites or
- 22:15Speaker 1: online shopping accounts and browsers, and delete retail apps and
- 22:20Speaker 1: unsubscribed for marketing emails.
- 22:22Speaker 4: Also unfollow brands on social media. Like, if you need something,
- 22:27Speaker 4: it will find.
- 22:28Speaker 3: You because you will find it.
- 22:30Speaker 2: You will find it, you know what I mean.
- 22:32Speaker 4: Like, if you need a new pair of sneakers, your
- 22:36Speaker 4: sneakers now will tell you that, not an Instagram reel,
- 22:40Speaker 4: because your sneakers.
- 22:41Speaker 2: Will be like, hey girl, where fucked? We don't work anymore?
- 22:46Speaker 4: Like, and then you'll be like, I really should get
- 22:49Speaker 4: a new pair of sneakers. Google you don't, like, you
- 22:53Speaker 4: don't need the Internet to tell you what you need
- 22:55Speaker 4: to buy. Yeah, absolutely, we can still find cool stuff
- 22:58Speaker 4: to buy. Like, There's been so many things that I've found,
- 23:01Speaker 4: like through social media, that I really really love, but
- 23:04Speaker 4: there's also been a lot of things that I didn't
- 23:06Speaker 4: need exactly.
- 23:08Speaker 1: And it's just about adding that barrier to avoid some
- 23:11Speaker 1: of those impulse shopping habits because I know, for me.
- 23:14Speaker 1: If I'm scrolling online in bed and like looking at something,
- 23:18Speaker 1: if I have to get up and go grab.
- 23:20Speaker 2: My card, You're not getting it.
- 23:21Speaker 3: It's probably not going You know what was.
- 23:23Speaker 4: Really a really bad point in time at my spending life.
- 23:27Speaker 2: I knew my card details off my heart.
- 23:30Speaker 1: That's how much I would just buy shit. And I
- 23:34Speaker 1: was like, and the fact that you know there's things
- 23:37Speaker 1: like Apple Pay and you can just go and your
- 23:40Speaker 1: address is already loaded in there, like that is not good.
- 23:44Speaker 3: Yeah, exactly, Okay.
- 23:46Speaker 1: Next one, create delay rules. Yeah, so you can kind
- 23:50Speaker 1: of have fun with this and make it work for you.
- 23:52Speaker 1: But for some examples, are you have to wait twenty
- 23:55Speaker 1: four hours for purchases under one hundred dollars, you have
- 23:58Speaker 1: to wait seventy two hours for purchases over.
- 24:01Speaker 3: One hundred dollars.
- 24:02Speaker 1: Or create a thirty day wish list so if you
- 24:05Speaker 1: do come across things and you're like, oh, I do
- 24:07Speaker 1: really want that, pop it in a notes app or
- 24:09Speaker 1: write it down in a notebook. And then if you're
- 24:12Speaker 1: doing a budget monthly, for example, at the end of
- 24:15Speaker 1: the month, you can run through what was in your
- 24:16Speaker 1: thirty day wish list and I bet you ten dollars
- 24:21Speaker 1: that when you look through it, the majority of that
- 24:23Speaker 1: shit you'll be waiting.
- 24:24Speaker 2: I don't anymore. Seriously, I've realized it is because of.
- 24:26Speaker 4: Like the app that I use Locker, So like when
- 24:29Speaker 4: I see things that I like, I put it in there. Yeah,
- 24:31Speaker 4: because it also tells me if they go on sale, right,
- 24:34Speaker 4: and I'll get the sound notification and I go, yeah, bee, yeahie.
- 24:40Speaker 1: If you hesitate and you see it on sale, you
- 24:43Speaker 1: really don't yet it exactly and you know what again,
- 24:47Speaker 1: it's this like snowball effect of good habits and good
- 24:51Speaker 1: money habits because I realize.
- 24:55Speaker 2: I really do imbolsement.
- 24:57Speaker 4: I really do, and like the fact that like maybe
- 25:00Speaker 4: if I I'm sure like some of these things, I
- 25:02Speaker 4: would have bought and I would really like them.
- 25:04Speaker 2: But it's even better not buying them and realizing I
- 25:08Speaker 2: don't need them.
- 25:09Speaker 4: Yeah, you know, like that's that's the better universe that
- 25:12Speaker 4: I enjoy the multiverse of.
- 25:14Speaker 2: My spending habits. Somewhere out there.
- 25:17Speaker 4: She's rich somewhere out there in and old started investing
- 25:21Speaker 4: when she was fifteen years old.
- 25:23Speaker 3: She's a good girl. Yeah, exactly.
- 25:25Speaker 2: She bought bitcoin.
- 25:28Speaker 1: I saw somebody online said that their money rule is
- 25:31Speaker 1: that when they go to buy something, they have to say,
- 25:35Speaker 1: if it's three hundred dollars, they also have to put
- 25:37Speaker 1: three hundred dollars in their savings our yeah, which is
- 25:43Speaker 1: kind of similar to the mentality of if you can't
- 25:46Speaker 1: buy it twice, you can't afford it.
- 25:48Speaker 4: I do really like working out how much that would
- 25:51Speaker 4: be in work hours. So if you earn fifty dollars
- 25:55Speaker 4: an hour and you want to buy something that's two
- 25:57Speaker 4: hundred dollars, that's four hours of work.
- 26:00Speaker 3: Is that dress worth four hours of work?
- 26:04Speaker 2: If it is studying? Amazing?
- 26:05Speaker 1: Brave?
- 26:06Speaker 2: If not?
- 26:07Speaker 1: And then my next one is do a low or
- 26:09Speaker 1: no spend challenge. There are so many different ones that
- 26:11Speaker 1: you can do, but I think a good place to
- 26:14Speaker 1: start is focusing on your problem areas. So, for example,
- 26:17Speaker 1: if you buy coffee every single day, then your low
- 26:21Speaker 1: spend challenge would be to make your coffee out home
- 26:23Speaker 1: or no food delivery for a month or whatever. But
- 26:26Speaker 1: there are a bunch of challenges out there, so some
- 26:28Speaker 1: creators for inspiration.
- 26:30Speaker 3: Emma Edwards.
- 26:31Speaker 1: She just published The Wardrobe Project, which is a book
- 26:34Speaker 1: where she talks about how she went a full year
- 26:36Speaker 1: without buying new clothes, So that's nothing, no new items,
- 26:39Speaker 1: no second hand, no rentals, no. But also but also
- 26:44Speaker 1: buying clothes isn't necessarily my problem area. I don't actually
- 26:47Speaker 1: spend that much money on clothes. It would be stuff
- 26:51Speaker 1: like Uber eats. Previously it was coffees, and like rite
- 26:54Speaker 1: share is definitely like so I'm like, I wouldn't want
- 26:58Speaker 1: to because and I don't think I have like that
- 27:01Speaker 1: kind of relationship with clothes. And then also Brooklyn aka Suoklan, Yeah,
- 27:06Speaker 1: on TikTok, she challenged herself to only buy twelve things
- 27:10Speaker 1: for a whole year, and she runs through all the
- 27:13Speaker 1: different rules that she had within that.
- 27:15Speaker 3: But yeah, I thought those.
- 27:16Speaker 2: Were really cool too, love them.
- 27:18Speaker 4: And then to wrap up the episode super quick one
- 27:22Speaker 4: is turn fixed expenses into assets.
- 27:25Speaker 2: So we're going to talk more about this in a
- 27:28Speaker 2: real we have coming up that explains it a little
- 27:30Speaker 2: bit better. But basically, all of your bills.
- 27:34Speaker 4: Are like the most underused wealth tool you have in
- 27:38Speaker 4: your arsenal. So like what I mean by this is
- 27:42Speaker 4: that when you're paying the thousands of dollars that you
- 27:45Speaker 4: are on bills, you should be making that money work
- 27:48Speaker 4: harder for you, Like that money is moving away from you,
- 27:51Speaker 4: you might as well make it move better.
- 27:54Speaker 2: So ways that we're talking about doing this is.
- 27:56Speaker 1: Like earning points on your bills, So like you can
- 27:59Speaker 1: earn thelow city frequent flyer points or whatever points you
- 28:02Speaker 1: use on things like your electricity or your insurance, and
- 28:06Speaker 1: you earn points for that. There's also, you know, ways
- 28:09Speaker 1: that you can hack it with credit cards if you
- 28:11Speaker 1: have one of those.
- 28:12Speaker 2: But it's about like getting.
- 28:14Speaker 1: More bang for your buck and turning them into it.
- 28:16Speaker 1: But we're gonna have a breakdown on how that works.
- 28:19Speaker 1: But look into how you can maximize.
- 28:22Speaker 3: That on expenses that you already have to make.
- 28:25Speaker 4: Exactly, if you're going to be spending that money anyway,
- 28:28Speaker 4: you might as well get something out of it, whether
- 28:30Speaker 4: it's cash back, whether it's points, whether it's you know,
- 28:33Speaker 4: credit history, you know whatever that is.
- 28:36Speaker 3: Yeah, I like that. Yes, way to wrap up.
- 28:38Speaker 2: The EPI exactly. Well, that's a wrap. Thank you so
- 28:42Speaker 2: much for having us in your ear holes. Chicks, we
- 28:44Speaker 2: love to be here.
- 28:46Speaker 1: Thank you so much to find out for helping make
- 28:48Speaker 1: this episode happen and also helping our audience win at money.
- 28:51Speaker 1: Don't forget to compare and save on those bills. We
- 28:54Speaker 1: will catch you in the next episode Chickies, Bye bye,
- 28:57Speaker 1: love ya,
